Cataclysm; from the hollow cries
Sonic had managed to run across one of Doctor Julian Ivo Robotnik’s old bunkers: Ivo had plenty, strewn across the Earth, in the off chance he couldn’t retreat back to his main base.
Thankfully, this bunker had been abandoned by Ivo, it’s door seemed to be closed but, with a bit of push, swung open with ease. Sonic had made his way inward, down into the dark, cold depths of the concrete bunker. He flicked on a light, watched as it flickered into life, casting a light blue hue along the grey slabs of wall and floor.
Sonic made a beeline for the doctor’s old notes, strewn along one of his many work tables, dusted them off and lifted them up, reading them over. He had seen the doctor utilise something, something that was game changing: pure chaos energy, liquefied. In a state that was solid, see-able to most eyes, tangible in a way that was revolutionary.
A low laugh left Sonic then, the sound echoing in the quiet surrounding him. He got to work then, grabbed the old machinery and began to set it up. It was all easy to follow along ( Ivo was very thorough and detailed ), and Sonic sat down, staring at the device that would pump him full of pure chaos energy.
He had summoned the red chaos emerald normally in his possession, along with the green chaos emerald that Knuckles had entrusted to him. Sonic set them both into the device ( which normally could only house one emerald at a time, but Sonic had modified it to accommodate two ). He stared at the tubes that flowed from the main device, into the mechanism that would be pumping into him.
His hands shook: not from fear, but excitement. A sheer desire, and almost greedy satisfaction rose onto Sonic’s expression via a wide smile.
Sonic knew that normally, they were inserted into an arm. An arm, meaning that only one pumping device was to be used: but Sonic needed this now. So, he was using two, simultaneous, and not just in his arms.
No, Sonic instead forced them into his chest, where that bastard blue with the scarring had hit him, which had caused this entire mess to begin with. Before his body could react, Sonic flipped the switch on the main device, and watched as that pure, light green glowing energy flowed through both tubes, up, and into him.
IMMEDIATELY, Sonic screamed, his body twitched violently but he clamped his feet onto the ground, his hands gripped like death vices onto the arms of the chair he was in. That scream turned into a loud, cracking sound, almost like a roar with how intense the noise was, how it bounced and echoed right back into Sonic’s own ears.
Whatever had been done to him, it was undone, and Sonic felt something within him shatter and break open; not literally, not physically, but his very being. He could not see it, but Sonic’s appearance changed:
his once dark blue fur and quills, they became a light greyish shade. His irises turned from an emerald green, to an almost otherworldly purple.
He could feel it instantly: that power, flooding back into him. Stronger than before, much more potent than before. More, more! His eyes flicked down to the device, and he noted that the emeralds still hadn’t lost their lustre. They were still coloured, meaning that not even a quarter of the chaos energy had left them yet. So little, and he already felt fantastic?
Well! He’d just have to keep going then!!
An hour passed by. Sonic felt calmer, calmer than he had ever been before. More alert, more attuned to the pure chaos energy: he felt it from the emeralds, which had been pulled near dry. In the air surrounding him. The small bits of remnant in the tubing that would eventually evaporate, fade over time.
He grunted as he pulled the devices from his chest, and tossed them onto the ground. Concentrating, Sonic absorbed the two chaos emeralds, so they could recharge their lost energies. That done, Sonic rose onto his feet, and shook from that sheer anticipation. He exhaled, felt as though the breath that left him was of the pure chaos energy, and he was breathing that in, instead, instead of normal air.
His ears flicked, and he glanced over, squinting. He could see it, a feint line, in the walls, all around him: had that always been there? Why had Sonic not noticed when he’d come into the area? He wandered over, and reached out, his hand actually phased through the wall.
Startled, Sonic jumped backward, stared for a moment, but then pushed his hand through it again. It didn’t hurt him. In fact, Sonic just felt as though he had pushed his hand through some light liquid. That signature sensation, it was the same as the chaos energy coursing through him.
Curious, he wandered into the wall, and vanished from sight.

Why Jim Carrey’s Robotnik is The Fuckin’ Man™
Yep, the movie is still on my mind, and I'd say I love it even more with each passing day. Partly because it came as much relief during a time when IDW Sonic is continuing to aggravate me with nearly everything it does with its story and characters, but mostly because I just really enjoy it on its own merits (and unlike some people, I don't need to add “it's no masterpiece...” to every sentence as if I'm secretly ashamed about liking a Sonic the Hedgehog film). While the movie's portrayal of our old mate Robotnik is far from the only reason for why I love the film, he's obviously a huge factor all the same, so I felt like listing a few reasons for why - already - he's one of my favourite incarnations of the doctor yet.
A lot of it can be boiled down to how accurate he is to Eggman's character despite the face value differences, but to elaborate that little bit more:
- He's every bit as physical as Eggman is in the games. It would have been easy for Robotnik to be reduced to a Non-Action Big Bad in a live action role, given how often that tends to happen with similar villains in similar live action installments of similar franchises... But instead, Robotnik actually lives up to his character's habits and takes a very active role in his pursuits, culminating with him facing the hedgehog personally, and putting up a good fight in the process. Compare this to the supposedly more threatening SatAM Robotnik, who spent most of his time twiddling his thumbs and letting Snively do all the work.
- Also like game Eggman, he's stronger than he looks, and he's equally capable of handling himself in a fight. A much larger guy who Sonic had notable trouble with is thrown out a window like it's nothing by Robotnik, and despite getting caught off guard by Tom's attack from behind, he was quick to turn the tables enough for their brief fistfight to be considered a stalemate. And let's not get into whatever it was he apparently did to that school bully...
- While he's every bit the glorious ham you'd expect him to be, his witty remarks can be downright morbid at times. The first thing he does when he sees Sonic's seemingly dead body? Make a crack about PETA animal testing. Absolute legend.
- Not only is he funny and menacing in equal measures, but both sides of his personality seem to be working at the same time in a lot of his scenes, going from one to the other then back again in a matter of seconds. This makes him come off as unpredictable, which definitely adds to the tension involving him.
- The government is clearly terrified of him, treating the mere idea of hiring his services for the blackout investigation as though he's a Horseman of the Apocalypse, and being incredibly quick to give his existence the '06 retcon treatment when it looks like he's gone for good (spoiler: he won't be forgotten for long). But at the same time, they bring him in specifically because they know that he's the only one with the genius to handle the apparent threat that Sonic poses, and their own talk of him having helped out with numerous foreign coups in the past - probably single-handedly at that - is yet more proof that his credentials are no joke. If G.U.N. exists in this universe, they're basically admitting that they ain't shit compared to this one man.
- Despite technically acting on the government's behalf during the events of this film, Robotnik treats the affair in the same way that Blofeld treats his affiliation with Red China: Namely, it's a very transparent means to an end that will ultimately benefit himself more than them, and it's clear at all times that not only is he the one holding the reins, but that they're perfectly aware of this and are simply unable to do anything about it. Considering this is, again, the government we're talking about, that makes it abundantly clear before we even meet him in person that this guy isn't your typical basement dwelling mad scientist whose ambitions far outweigh their capabilities.
- In a Sonic the Hedgehog movie production starring Ivo Robotnik, played to perfection by Jim Carrey, the meme potential is too vast to quantify.
- His drones are essentially Matryoshka dolls of destruction, and they have the tricks and the persistence you'd expect to be saddled with that implication. They highlight the doctor's own determination in catching the hedgehog, and they also confirm his surprisingly keen sense of foresight in dealing with opposition. If only he leant some of that foresight to IDW Eggman...
- His big black truck is actually really badass for an “evil lair”, as the man himself labels it. It's equipped with the aforementioned super persistent drones, it comes with a hangar bay for his sizable hovercraft (which, by the way, just so happens to have an Egg Mobile colour scheme), he can experiment in his lab while he's on the move, and he even has wacky virtual simulators to play around with on the side... and the means to make a latte apparently. It may not have the scale of a Death Egg space station or an Eggmanland theme park, but considering this is an up-and-coming Eggman of sorts, it's a very interesting and impressive choice for the doctor's first humble abode, as it shows that even when he's just starting off, he's already thinking in a different (and cooler) wavelength than most.
- It didn't take him long at all to successfully harness the power of Sonic's quill in a manageable form, meaning he understood how Sonic's speed worked and was able to use it against the hedgehog himself in a relatively small amount of time. If Metal Sonic is ever introduced, he's likely going to be a juggernaut on par with his OVA portrayal.
- Yet another trait he shares with game Eggman: he does not cower. Sure, he might get startled by seeing Sonic for the first time, or accidentally getting creeped up on by Agent Stone, but in terms of legitimate fear, he has none to show for it. Sonic, who he thought was banished to the Shadow Realm killed, suddenly revives himself and takes back his quill by force, all the while throwing one hell of a death glare his way as he becomes supercharged with electricity. How does Robotnik react to this? By putting on his own game face (and his goggles) and staring him down for a final standoff. The idea of running away or pleading for mercy doesn't even appear to register in the doctor's mind.
- Even after going mad upon being stranded on the Mushroom Planet, he remains as determined as ever to reach his goals, and while he may have nothing else on him for the time being other than Sonic's quill, we know for a fact that his return is inevitable, and he'll be hitting twice as hard no matter what he decides to use. His final transformation into a more recognizable Eggman may be born out of isolation and insanity, but despite the circumstance, it's more strangely triumphant rather than tragic or pathetic. He even notes that lesser men would be hopeless in his predicament, and presumably that includes lesser villains as well.
- This face.
I want that face on a T-shirt.
Overall, despite the expected and at times necessary differences for a live action portrayal, Robotnik hasn't actually been watered down in terms of character OR threat level. He's already dangerous enough to risk the safety of the entire planet, and if the stinger is any indication, he's only getting started.
And you know what else? While it's obviously delightful that his resemblance shifts to being more Eggman-like by the end of the film (and the full moustache actually doesn't look too bad on Carrey's face), I don't think I would have minded that much if his appearance remained the same in a sequel, because the core of his portrayal was so perfect and quintessentially Eggman that the differences didn't even click after a while, even as I kept looking at them point blank.
That's how you know the guy did well. Although it probably also helps that his non-Eggman look is considerably more dignified and cool than SatAM Robotnik falling into a vat of concentrated 90's.

The word Series (5) Kairos – The perfect, delicate, crucial moment, that creates the perfect atmosphere
MAsterlist
…………………………………………………She………………………………………………………………….
At the party She mingled with a few people. Her aunt introduced her to both Jack and Alyssha. After grabbing her drink she goes around and admires the house. The wall full of photographs intrigued her and one of the photos got her attention and surprised her. It was that of Jack with the man she had met before. It was Jack with Sy. They were in uniform with what looked liked in a desert. She admired Sy, not much has changed, except the fact that now Sy has glasses. He still looks as good as before. It made sense to her now. Looking at him she had an idea he would be in some work where he would use his strength. It makes sense that he was in the army. She wouldnShe’t admit it out loud but this impressed her and made her slightly blush. In comparison, the Sy with glasses looked like a badass geek. She thought of all their meetings, Sy was intimidating but also kind of awkward. She thought about his life, he has seen so many deaths and destruction, probably. Maybe she passed a judgement on him too soon. She too has seen people assuming things about her. Often people thought of her as arrogant when she was just shy and anxious. She inferred that if Jack and Sy are close, then she would definitely meet him today at the party. She will try to be more pleasant with him this time.
………………………………………………….Sy……………………………………………………………………..
Sy is at the party trying to talk with people. He wants to mingle but somehow cannot. He takes a mug of beer and goes to the pool table to play with his brother in law. The party is a small affair. It is evening and there is light music playing in the background. He is calmer in comparison to the last two days. Sy decides that once the party is over he would talk to his sister about whatever happened and ask for an advice.
Sy looks around their house. It is wonderfully decorated. Flowers all over. It is almost unlike the style of her sister who is often loud in her taste of decoration. All her previous parties had weird lights and decorative pieces. Flowers have given their home a beautiful intimate feel. Sy doesn’t even know the names of half the flowers but they look beautiful and they smell heavenly. He is smelling one of the lilies when he hears the voice of Alyssha
Never thought you to be the one who liked flowers Sy
Sy turns around and smiles at her
Never thought you to be the one having them Aly
I take it you like the decoration?
Its more beautiful than the house! Where did you get all these flowers??
Remember Jack’s nanny?
Yeah? Don’t tell me that old woman grows all these! Sy chuckles
Actually, her niece, she grows all these, quite talented has a degree and everything. You gotta meet her. Maybe you’ll like her.
(I am in love with a nameless woman already sis, Sy thinks)
Is she here?
Yeah, she must be somewhere around, quite shy. Doesn’t talk much.
Alyssha looks around the house. Her eyes settle in one direction.
Oh there she is.
Sy looks in the direction and cannot believe his eyes. (Oh Fuck me!!! He thinks. Its his mystery woman. No, no, no, it wont be my sister telling me her name. I gotta ask her myself. He turns to his sister
Aly why don’t you attend your party, I’ll introduce myself.
All right cool
After she leaves, Sy composes himself. All right, no poop talk, no fleas, no toilet paper. Go over there Sy and greet. Ask her the name and probably let her talk first. Sy decides in his mind as he saunters in her direction. Onto the battlefield soldier! Sy mutters under his breath. As he walks to her he realized how beautiful she looked. Skirt, top, open hair, Yeah, she has totally floored him.
Sy goes to her. She sees him and his presence makes her gasp.
Hi, we meet again
Umm.. hi.. …
Okay before anything, please tell me your name I have to know your name first. Sy rambles quickly.
(wao Sy, great way to extort someone’s name, he says to himself)
You don’t know my name yet? (She sounded surprised)
No! you haven’t told me….. yet. Sy says with a smile, finally behaving a little human
Oh, I am so sorry about that. I didn’t realize.
That’s all right. It happens.
There is a small moment of silence between them and Sy says.
So…? Sy breaks the silence
Ivona……. Ivona Marianne Hill.
Ivona, Sy tests her name. (what a beautiful name Sy thought)
You have a beautiful name. You have no idea how great it feels to finally put a name to your face. I have been thinking about it since we met, but something or the other kept interrupting our conversation.
(Stop rambling you doofus, let her talk for once, Sy pauses)
…..I guess. (she shrugs and looks down)
Are you here alone Ivona?
No I came with my aunt, she used to babysit Jack.
Wao, small world. Jack is my brother in law.
Oh.. nice.
Wait, that means you supplied these flowers?
Yes.
They are beautiful. I have never seen some of them in these parts.
Thank you. ………………….I have a small farm, I grow orchids, lilies, roses and some other varieties there.
You didn’t bring Cerberus.
She smiled and looked down again and Sy felt his heartbeat rise.
No, I didn’t think it would be appropriate to bring him here. Its not necessary my aunt is here with me.
If you don’t mind me asking, why is he your service dog.
Its okay Sy, I have severe anxiety and sometimes in large crowds I get panic attacks. He helps me get by.
I am sorry to hear that. I hope the party is not overwhelming
No its not. Its actually nice to meet a few people here. Did you come alone here Sy?
Yes. Who would come with me. (Sy finally felt better to make conversation with her)
Your girlfriend?
My Girlfriend? (My girlfriend, who the fuck is my girlfriend, I want YOU to be my girlfriend Sy thinks)
The girl from the library?
She is not my girlfriend. She was just.. I don’t know what she was doing. But she is definitely not my girlfriend, Ivona.
Oh. I am sorry for assuming.
Its fine. Its fine. Everybody assumes. Not that I am saying that about you. I mean, its okay to make inferences based on certain observations which I did when I met you. It wasn’t anything bad, it was just observation. More like putting skills at work, I used to do that, when I was in the army, I am not now, I have been relieved honorably. Also sorry for the toilet paper and the fleas. I didn’t mean to talk about it. My dog is fine now. I bought everything I need from the store…
At that moment Sy saw her look at him with an open-mouthed expression and realized he had been babbling again and not making any sense. He immediately stopped talking and pinched the bridge of his nose.
I messed up again, didn’t I? Sy said.
Its okay Sy, We all get nervous sometimes. Although I don’t understand why you would be nervous around me.
Sy was finally able to breathe now. Could this woman be any more perfect than she already is? Between the two of them, he was the confident army guy and she was the one with anxieties and it was her calming him. Sy chuckled.
I think I am just rusty around people. Have been in the army most of my life.
What were you in the army?
I was in the sniper unit.
It sounds both amazing and tedious.
You are not wrong about that Ivona. (Sy just loved saying her name. Ivona, Ivona, he could chant it like a prayer. Ivy for short? Ivo? Iva? Iv? Honestly, at that moment, he was just so happy to think anything else)
It was unexpected to see you again here Sy. Nice to meet you. I have to go now. I have to attend to the plants.
Can I see ya again? Sy spoke immediately.
Oh? Why?
Just to talk maybe?
All right. But I cant commit a time or date. Lots of work in the garden with the new seeds and flowers.
I can come there. Will that be okay with you?
You want to visit my flower farm?
Judging by the flowers decorated here, I think it would be beautiful. (Sy managed another smile from her)
All right Sy, its nearby. Just ask anyone for Hill’s Heartland. It’s the name of my flower farm.
Ill see you.
Bye Sy.
Bye Ivona.
Sy watched her as she left. This party has been successful for him. Everything was just perfect now. He finished his beer, put down the mug. After talking to a few of the people in the party, he too left, but this ride was different. Sy was humming as he drove back. Ivona, he said aloud again. He opened the door and put the keys in he bowl. He fed his dogs again, Django, Kal, Aika, Major, and Tuff. After changing, he laid on his bed, thinking of her. She had a beautiful name and she made him comfortable. He realized one thing, he might have killed so many people In the army as a sniper, but he had never thought that talking to someone would be so difficult. Ivona had a condition, yet she managed to show both empathy and encouragement to hi. She talked to him without malice and judgement. Life certainly has its ways to surprise someone. Hill’s Heartland, what a beautiful name for a garden. He will definitely visit her the next day and take two of his dogs, Kal and Aika, the oldest ones. They know how to behave around ladies. With these thoughts, Sy fell asleep peacefully for the first time ever.

TMA lore analysis/theory: What the Fuck is Up with Hill Top Road 105
(will contain HEAVY spoilers for all of The Magnus Archives)
Ok, let’s start by setting up a timeline (rather difficult for a place involved in time travel and multiple universes, but we can try)
Starting off with the exorcism performed at HTR 105: Ivo Lensik gives us the date of November 23rd, 2006. This is contradicted 11 episodes later by Father Edwin Burroughs, who believes the events took place in 2009. But i think i can shorten that span of possible dates. You see, MAG 114 is the statement of Anya Villette, a cleaner who seemingly traveled between dimensions (this is reinforced in MAG 196, where Annabelle cites an “odd incident” regarding dimensional travel). Anya arrived in the universe where TMA taks place on April 8th, 2009, and the house’s construction seems to be already finished. This would make it so that the exorcism from Father Burroughs’s perspective would have taken place between the start of 2009 and, well, right before April 8th.
Now, the statement of Jack Barnabas (MAG 67) about his relationship with Agnes Montague.
Agnes
.
*shaking fist at sky*
AGNEEEEEEEES!
“Fire wife” over here has been a headache and a half for me, but we’ll get into why later.
For now, back to 67. Jack states she died on a November night in, again, 2006. This is corroborated by Jon back in MAG 8 when he states that, on the same night Ivo “Absolute Chad” Lensik uprooted the tree on HTR, a person by the name of Agnes Montague was found dead in her Sheffield flat. So far, simple (this is called foreshadowing)
From this point we leap to 2009, specifically to The Great Twisting. The dates are confusing (because of course they are), but the statement giver of MAG 126 (the statement about Gabriel, the Worker of Clay) states that she had received an invitation a few weeks prior (statement given October 11th, so that would be late September- early October) to Sannikov Land (where you probably remember The Great Twisting took place). The confusion, however, arises in MAG 80, where Jurgen Leitner states he met Gertrude “6 years ago” (2011, in that case) “after she’d lost the last of her own assistants”. Some people on the Wiki have taken it to mean that this places the death of Emma Harvey
(i’ll get to you)
in 2011 as well, but i respectfully disagree. Stupid Idiot Motherfucking Jurgen Leitner’s sentence does not imply that 2011 was necessary close to when Gertrude lost her assistants.
Ok, now that that’s cleared up, we can say that The Great Twisting was attempted around October or November of 2009. Time to address Emma Harvey. How hard could it be?
Well,
Emma Harvey is only really delved upon in MAG 167 (i like how it’s 100+ MAG 67, but it’s probably just a neat coincidence), where it is revealed she was Not Very Nice. In fact, she was SO Not Very Nice that Gertrude, after having returned from Sannikov Land, decided to kill her. And how, you may ask?
Well, through The Desolation. Specifically through the avatar Agnes Montague.
WHO HAD DIED THREE YEARS PRIOR. WHICH IS USUALLY A SMALL OBSTACLE TO DOING THINGS.
So, how do we work this out? Regardless of the exorcism being performed on November 23rd, 2006 or early 2009, Agnes would be dead by the end of 2009 either way. How can her, well, not-death be explained? Also, Gertrude was well aware of Agnes’s death, and openly talks about it with Arthur Nolan during MAG 145. Was she hiding something? Or did she simply find this other Agnes after the statement?I don’t have answers to all of those questions, but i have a guess on how Agnes managed to be there to kill Emma. Basically, i think the time she spent on HTR 105 might have sent her (or some version of her) “rippling” through time, echoes of herself showing up long after her death. Maybe her bond with Gertrude played some part in them being able to find each other? I dont know. BUTMaybe, just maybe, we could be seeing Agnes Montague again for the finale. However, i personally dont think so. Her arc was pretty much wrapped up. Would be cool, though.

Shadow: You know Omega can take care of himself right?
Rouge: I know that! I just want our big boi to be safe and happy is all.
Shadow: I think you're spending too much time with the princess again.....(Turns the Page From his Newspaper)

Rouge: (Crosses her Arms) You heard me. You're a Momma's Boy. Probably the biggest one I've ever known.

"i'll be home before dinner!"
TW: angst/torture/alcohol mentiom
~~~
it hasn't been easy for stone since robotnik disappeared.
that night, the agent was waiting for his doctor in the laboratory, excited to celebrate his boss's victory, he couldn't wait to see him come in with that beautiful smile on his face and welcome him with the amazing dinner he had prepared for him.
he remembered the last thing he said to him before he was gone "stone, dont worry, i'll be home before dinner!" it wasn't like he didn't trusted him, he was just worried.
but he knew that he would arrive, he has to! stone knew it and despite the hours passing by he didn't lose hope.
he heated the food a few times, not wanting to disappoint his boss, but after a few hours, he stopped. he sat down at the table and waited patiently.
the night passed quickly and stone had fallen asleep on the table. when he woke up and saw that the doctor wasn't there yet he knew that something was wrong.
he immediately went to his superiors, asking for explanations, trying to remain calm as much as possible.
and all he got was was "robot-who?" "aban, what are you talking about?" "i don't think i've ever heard that name in my entire life"
"are you kidding me? i worked for him for five years! he's your best scientist! he has done so much for you, how could you forget him?" stone was screaming, almost crying in panic, not being able to believe what was going on.
the two agents in front of him looked at each other with a worried look "aban, i think you need a little break, why don't you rest for a few days?"
he felt his heart sink, were these people really so dumb? perhaps ivo was right to hate mankind.
he did as it was said, as always.
the next day he returned to the doctor's laboratory, and when he entered he felt like the world collapsed on him.
the whole laboratory had been emptied. all the machines, the projects, all the memories that stone had there had been thrown away.
he fell to his knees and clenched his fists, why on earth would it be necessary to do such a thing? the doctor had done so much for them, and this is how they thank him?
everything was gone, including the doctor and he was the only one who cared. he began to cry, realizing that now the doctor lived only in his memory.
he cried until he had tears, and his sobs echoed in the large empty laboratory.
all he could think about was ivo, and the fact that he probably would never see him again. he would never see the light in his eyes when he talked about his new discoveries, he would never see him dance again, he would never brought him a coffee again, and he would never feel the happiness he felt when he was with him.
when he was done crying, he heard footsteps behind him, but he didn't even cared, too destroyed to even think about it.
he gasped when he heard hands resting on his shoulders "agent stone" said a voice.
aban looked behind him, two men in suits and sunglasses were standing there "you must come with us"
what happened next almost felt like a dream...or a nightmare.
handcuffs, a dark room, a light pointed at him. voices...questions, questions about...ivo? yes, they were talking about him. did they say he was gone? no...they said he never existed. ivo never existed, his doctor...he made him up, stone was a liar, ivo was never here. another light, tears, an electric shock...a lot of pain. the rest is all dark and silent
some hours later the two men left him at the door of his house "i don't think we'll need you anymore, agent"
he nodded, still too stunned to realize what was going on.
the black van moved away from his house, he entered and the sudden silence destroyed him.
he slammed his back against the door and sat down on the ground, clenching his fists in his hair, starting to cry without even knowing why.
he felt like something was missing, but what? maybe someone? he wasn't sure. he felt empty, as if entire memories of five years had been ripped off him, forcefully and without warning. he started to sob louder, almost forgetting to breathe and screaming without understanding his own emotions. he felt terrible pain in his chest and couldn't stand it.
he remained in those conditions for a long time, too much. when he finally he got up, he went to the kitchen and took the first bottle he found "maybe this will help me"
What would you think if Zavok got more traits to seperate him from Eggman, like relying on his own henchmen instead of hijacking badniks?
Ehh I don't know, I guess it depends on how well they manage to implement said traits. I personally never saw much potential in the Deadly Six because of how one dimensional and underdeveloped their personality and motives are. I used to feel neutral towards them but as they were forced into media where they weren't necessary, it became a bother.
What I don't like in particular is that when they do try to give Zavok more sense of self and personality, he just seems to be egotistical, talking about how mighty he is. We already have that with Eggman but it's actually a lovable trait instead of annoying. In TSR, I feel like Zavok stole a lot of lines Eggman could've said.
I guess if they tried to differentiate Zavok more and also separate him and the rest of the D6 from Eggman as villains (because Ivo needs to dump him already lol) then he might have a chance to be more interesting and develop better characteristics. But they'd also have to stop being defined by nothing but bad stereotypes.
One of the only things Zeti have going for them is the way they can control mechs, but all they do is use it to steal Eggman's and it's annoying. If they stopped using his, that would definitely be a start for improvement. There probably are better ways they could use their abilities and actually seem cool, but only if it didn't involve them bringing trouble to Eggman again.
Mother And Daughter
Part Three
When Donna opened the door and saw Oliver standing outside, her feelings split in two. On one side, she felt anger and resentment, wanting to beat on his chest for loving her daughter and putting her life in danger. On the other side, she felt compassion and acceptance, wanting to throw her arms around Oliver and thank him for loving her daughter and keeping her life safe from danger.
She and Felicity had arrived at Donna’s small but homey apartment around an hour ago. After refusing to take Donna’s bedroom, Felicity claimed the couch and the bed hidden within it. She put her bag down on the floor next to the couch and sat down, as if to show her mother that she was okay staying out in the living room. Donna acquiesced and then gave Felicity the rundown on bathroom privileges---that is to say, being Felicity’s mother and because it was her place, Donna got first shot in the morning. Also, just before she joined her daughter on the couch and the commencement of their coming conversation about Felicity’s life as a vigilante, Donna let her daughter know that there was in fact a half-gallon of mint-chip ice cream in the freezer. It was going to be a long talk and Donna wanted Felicity to feel more comfortable while telling her tale.
“Donna…hey,” Oliver spoke from the doorway.
She was still fighting with her split feelings when Felicity came up behind her and stood next to her mother in the doorway. Her heart began beating wildly in her chest as she looked at Oliver, who shifted his gaze away from Donna to Felicity. “Oliver…what are you doing here,” Felicity asked him?
“Felicity…hey.” Oliver seemed to be stuck on short greetings. Finally, he found the courage within him to go on. “Would you believe that I was in the neighborhood?” A small smile tried to lighten the moment, but it felt flat on his face.
Donna and Felicity only stared back at him, cautious and not at all amused.
“Sorry,” Oliver continued, sensing their anticipation of his explanation why he had followed Felicity to Vegas, why he was standing in the apartment’s doorway. “Donna…I wanted to be here in case you had any questions about…well, about the kind of life I share with your daughter.” He was looking at Donna, but it was Felicity he was thinking about when he spoke. Then he turned his attention back to Felicity. “I wanted to be here for you. I wanted to be part of this reveal. I care about the both of you so much, and…I just want to be accountable for how much I’ve changed your life being the Green Arrow.”
As he said this, Felicity felt warmth begin to rush through her body. Her still conflicted feelings for him seemed to solidify in her heart for a brief moment, erasing all the tension between them over the past few months. “Oliver…uh, thank you,” she finally replied. “But I think I got this. You don’t have to be accountable for giving me the life I have. I made the decision to join your team. To be honest, I can’t think of any other kind of life that could make the difference you’ve made in mine.”
Her words rushed over him as if the sun had appeared in the apartment and began to shine its heat and light on him. Felicity always had that ability, to comfort him when he didn’t think he needed or even deserved it.
Donna finally got her feelings back together and backed away from the doorway. “Oliver, you might as well come in. And you’re right. You are a part of this, maybe the whole part. I want to hear your story too.”
Oliver came into the apartment and closed the door behind him.
*
Oliver went first. Donna was sitting in an over-stuffed recliner across from the couch, where Oliver and Felicity were sitting. As his tale of a scared, privileged boy who turned into a dangerous, angry man unfolded, Donna couldn’t help being mesmerized by the story she was hearing. It captivated her, and it sent chills down her spine as Oliver relayed to her the suffering his transformation into the Green Arrow brought him.
“When I came back to Starling City,” Oliver continued his narrative. “It felt like I had been gone for a thousand years. I could hardly recognize the city with the rampant crime surging through it. But it was good to see my mother and Thea again. Yet I was already feeling the pull of my mission to clean up the city. At that time, I felt my mission was just and necessary. I was going to honor my father; in a way I never could have when I found myself abandoned on the shores of Lian Yu.”
Oliver had told Felicity some of this before, back in Ivy Town, in happier times for them. But as he began to tell his tale to Donna, Felicity felt as if she too was hearing it all for the first time. Oliver’s words rolled over them like an exciting wave, bringing his pain and suffering to them like a rising tide. Both of them could feel those changes Oliver had to go through before he could find the new direction his life had gone in. Felicity settled deeper into the couch as Oliver continued his story. She almost felt powerless as he stole her heart again, brought her back to the real reason she had joined his crusade. However, this time Oliver added other parts to his tale, parts he had never told Felicity, or anyone else for that matter. Some of the reasons why he was so self-protective and non-inclusive stemmed from the torture he endured while on the island. Felicity never heard of Billy Wintergreen, never heard the full story of Yao Fe and how the man influenced Oliver to survive at all costs, or how he was reunited with Sara and how she was entrenched with her own survival through the machinations of Dr. Ivo.
“I had to choose between Shadoe and Sara,” Oliver went on with his account. “Ivo was not going to ease up on anybody as his addiction to mirukuru consumed him. Slade was back at our shelter completely immobile from the explosion that injured him, and as I knelt before Ivo, as he gave me the choice to make on who was going to live and die, I once again felt alone with another hard decision. No one was going to come and rescue us. But it was too much. I could not decide. I loved both women before me. That conflict, that hesitation, is what killed Shadoe and started a terrible ball rolling a few years later back in Starling City.”
Oliver fell silent as those images of his memories took hold of him. Even though nine years have passed, he was still back there, as he suspected he would always be there. It wasn’t easy erasing such traumas from one’s life. A good example of this was the distance he created between him and Felicity when he lied to her about William. Suddenly, he didn’t have the mental energy to go on.
Felicity could sense his hesitation as Oliver continued to stay silent. She knew on a gut level that it was hard for him to relive those moments in his turbulent life. But she also understood that it was a kind of purging, a way for him to bring his darkness out into the light of a more real life. The one thing she was sure of about Oliver was that he really did want to do the right thing. In spite of what they had gone through in the past year, with their coming together and the fantasy of Ivy Town, with Felicity being shot and paralyzed on the night Oliver proposed to her, with the discovery of William’s existence coming out of the semi-darkness of that parking garage---Oliver’s origins was like a sustaining wind blowing away his transgressions, clearing the way ahead for redemption
“It was shortly after Oliver came back to Starling City that he came into my cubicle one day and changed my life.” Felicity took up the tale as Oliver sat back, and in a way, began to see his life through another’s eyes. “It almost felt like we were caught up in some kind of imminent chemistry, a wavelength that brought us together, bringing to us something we were both missing in our lives. I knew when he told me the first of many fibs to come that he was even then trying to protect me from the kind of danger that took over his life. But I think it was because of that chemistry, I wanted to help him. I don’t believe in love at first sight, at least not then anyway. But I could not deny to him what he came looking for.”
Donna sat in her chair across from them and did not have anything to add to their monologues. She kept her questions at bay; because she could not form them in her head against the breathtaking story she was being told. Maybe her questions were not relevant anymore and the answers she was looking for would be forever embedded in the memories Oliver was now bringing out to her, and to Felicity. What she did know was that all of what they were describing to her took place over four years ago, and how much there was still to reveal. Donna wasn’t sure if she really wanted to hear the real reasons why Oliver and Felicity stayed together all that time. In her mind, there seemed to be something wrong with the fact that someone would willingly seek out danger, seek out injury and possible death. Yet, she could not deny how they felt for one another. Perhaps those feeling for each other was their saving grace and why they have survived all that they have.
She seemed to settle deeper into her chair as the story of The Green Arrow and Overwatch, the story of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, unfolded.
You are matured enough, quite wise and logical. However, you are somehow associated and obsessed with the past.
Secondary: The Emperor
Often times, you are troubled by something very personal, and don’t know how to deal with it.
Third: The Magician
The Magician is associated with action, initiative, self-confidence, manipulation and power (more specifically, the power to harness one's talents). You prefer being the right-hand men of someone you are close to or you look up to.
A tragedy in your life must have shaped you unto who you are right now and how you live your life. You prefer dynamic and theatrical situations rather than solemn and quiet paces of life. A downside in your character is that you may possibly be perverted most of the time and easily fall in love or have crushes on other people you admire.
[ Kravitz’s thoughts on the main route results: LMAO!! I really love this, though!! It shows how Kendall lets people see him, but then his inner layers are the secondary and third. The Emperor has to be a favourite result in this, of mine! ]
IVO ROBOTNIK ROUTE KENDALL ( @dreggmxn )
Primary: The Devil
The Devil Arcana represents the urge to do selfish, impulsive, violent things, and being a slave to ones' own impulse and feelings. Occasionally, it is also portrayed as a symbol of temptation. The positive aspect, however, represents a healthy bond or commitment. You are often "devilish": you tend to be greedy, proud, lustful, or otherwise of poor character. You are most likely to go for an antisocial tendency, often not caring much for the needs or well-being of others.
Secondary: The Chariot
The Chariot Arcana is a symbol of victory, conquest, self-assertion, control, war and command. You are typically a very driven individual, who has a personal goal that you aim to achieve at any cost. It is not uncommon for Chariot characters to be short-tempered or aggressive.
Third: The Emperor
Emperor symbolises the desire to control one's surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable. Often times, you are troubled by something very personal, and don’t know how to deal with it.
[ Kravitz’s thoughts on Ivo’s Route results: Oh boy!! I love, love, love this!! Lmao this really is if Kendall just, didn’t care about anyone except himself, Ivo, and his own selfish tendencies!! At least one of the arcanas are similar? Of course he got the top two aggressive results!! My fighty, violent son. ]
VOLT & HARMONY ROUTE KENDALL ( @familylightfox )
Primary: The Justice
The Justice Arcana symbolises a strict allegory of justice, objectivity, rationality and analysis. You are concerned with matters of fairness, and otherwise are a very stoic individual. You are being called to account for your actions and will be judged accordingly. If you have acted in alignment with your Higher Self and for the greater good of others, you have nothing to worry about.
However, if you haven’t, you will be called out and made to own up to your actions. A level of compassion and understanding accompany Justice, and although you may have done something you regret, this arcana suggests that you will be treated fairly and without bias. Be ready to take responsibility for your actions and stand accountable for the ensuing consequences.
Secondary: The Fortune
The Fortune Arcana symbolises Fate and varying luck, fortunes and opportunities. What goes up will go down, what goes down will go up. You are aware of your fate, and attempt to seize your own destiny in spite of your seemingly-locked fate. Thus, you are typically involved with making important choices and decisions.
Third: The Empress
The Empress represents motherly, prosperity, creativity, sexuality, abundance, fertility and comfort which most often observed in maintaining peace. Often belongs to people of authority or wise and motherly figures. Femininity translates in many ways – elegance, sensuality, fertility, creative expression, nurturing – and is necessary for creating balance in both men and women.
The Empress calls on you to connect with your feminine energy. Create beauty in your life. Connect with your senses through taste, touch, sound, smell and sight. Draw on these senses to experience pleasure and deep fulfilment. Treat yourself to a day spa, learn massage, enjoy a fine restaurant or spend more time with your partner. Discover different approaches to expressing yourself creatively, be it through painting, music, drama or other art forms. This may be the perfect chance to take up a new hobby that enables you to access this part of yourself.
[ Kravitz’s thoughts on Volt & Harmony’s Route results: God, Volt and Harmony really help Kendall stabilise? If that makes sense. Like, he just lets himself surround with love, from both of them. It helps Kendall to ground himself, and to let himself become someone that can live without being a leader, without needing to be horribly aggressive. He can just be, and Volt and Harmony are there for him. G o d. I adore these results!! ]
Here’s the 12-paragraph start to this event or whatever you want to call it- I’ll have a summary up soon too in case you don’t want to read all of this!
“So, Ivo, do you want to show me your progress on the interstellar amusement park? We’re going to need to go up there either way.” Nega finally said, after being silent for a while. He had to admit, even if this wasn’t going the way he wanted it to, he was interested in what this space amusement park was going to be like. Eggman was brought out of his thoughts of what he wanted it to be like by Nega’s voice, looking at him and trying to process what he said. After a moment, he finally realize what he’d asked, and he gave a nod. “Why, of course, Nega! Actually, I have the elevator for it going already!”
An elevator. To space. This was likely a prototype of some sort, too. That didn’t comfort Nega much, but then again, Eggman had created an amusement park like this before, right? And he likely had some kind of elevator before, otherwise, why would he try this now? “Well, lead the way then, Ivo.” Eggman nodded, leading the way to the massive white tower with glass on all four sides. It stood behind one of his many bases, and it definitely stood out. With a press of the button, the doors of the huge elevator opened, and the two men stepped inside. Eggman pressed the up button on the elevator, and the elevator took them up fairly quickly, but it didn’t feel like it was ascending as fast as it really was.
When the doors opened, they were greeted by the beginnings of what was once the Tropical Resort from Eggman’s first park. Some of the neon lights and buildings were already up, but much of it was still under construction. Eggman stepped out to lead the way forward, and Nega followed him. Already, Nega was pretty impressed by what he saw. Eggman was pointing things out and describing what they were and what was going to be added, going on about his visions for this area alone. And there were going to be about five areas. But Nega was only half-listening. He was trying to take this all in, but just ahead of them, he spotted something that looked very out of place. A large, metal ‘P.’ It looked like it was forcefully embedded into the ground, as if it had skidded in. There was no reason for there to be a ‘P’ as far as Nega knew- it was Resort, not Paradise, right? Ivo’s name obviously didn’t start with that letter, and it didn’t look like anything Eggman had ever created to Nega.
Eggman had stopped going on and had spotted the metallic letter, seeming confused by its presence. The first thing that came to mind was that his robots were messing around on him, but even when they did that, the result didn’t often look like that. The doctor looked at Nega, giving a shrug, then he went ahead and approached the thing. Nega followed behind, but he kept a distance, just in case. As Eggman approached it to look at the damage it caused, there was a sudden flash and the front of the letter disappeared. When it did, Eggman didn’t get to have a great look because a small silver robot that was unlike his own hopped out and jumped up on him. “Chu!” The little thing squeaked. It didn’t appear to actually be trying to attack. Two taller, silver robots with red accents took a step out of the metal letter to look around. Again, these robots were nothing like Eggman’s own.
These robots were the only things Eggman had noticed. “Are you all okay? Where did you come from?” Nega approached his relative’s side to get a better look at these robots, but he spotted something behind the taller ones. It appeared to be a person, but he was curled up on the floor and facing the other way. Nega cleared his throat to get Eggman’s attention, then pointed at the person. As he did this, the small robot jumped off of Eggman to allow him to get a better look. The two taller robots stepped aside, and the person slowly turned over a little to see what was going on when their shadows weren’t cast over him anymore. He appeared to be a young man- a young man in some sort of pain. And he was confused. He didn’t know who these two were. They almost reminded him of someone he’d used before, but they also looked quite different from him at the same time.
His back and shoulders were in pain from having his robots smash against him a few times during the rough landing he’d endured. Not only that, when they decided to get back up, they used him to push up off of. He was clearly having a difficult time standing up, so Nega took a step forward and reached a hand down to him. Eggman did the same for him, and the young man took both of their hands. The two helped him stand back up, and before Eggman could ask him what happened, Nega spoke. “Nice of you to drop by. Who might you be?” For a while, the cloaked young man didn’t answer, not looking at either of them. “Well...” He began. “I don’t really know who you two are. But I might as well tell you anyways. They call me Purge. Genius Purge, if you will. But, I suppose you can simply call me Purge.” He looked at the two doctors. “Now, who are you?” Already, he was able to distract himself from the pain he was in just by focusing on these two.
This time, Eggman was the first to speak. “They call me Dr. Eggman, but my actual name is Robotnik. Dr. Ivo Robotnik. You can call me any of those names, I don’t mind!” Purge raised an eyebrow at that name- Eggman. But, he supposed the man was a bit egg-shaped. A little unfortunate. He wasn’t sure why he’d let people call him that, but he wasn’t about to make a comment about it. Nega put a hand on his chest. “And they call me Dr. Eggman Nega. However, I prefer to drop that ‘Eggman’ name. I’d be fine just being called Dr. Nega, or just Nega. A pleasure to meet you, Purge.” Now this, Purge could understand. While he had a quite similar appearance to this ‘Eggman,’ it would make sense to not want to be called such a name.
Purge gave a nod. “It’s a pleasure to meet you two, too...” Just now, he started to have a look around the place. Some kind of...space amusement park in the works? Or was it just some fancy ideal vacation area? While he was pondering where he was, Nega watched him. Was this kid just what he needed to help turn Ivo back to his ways of trying to rule the world? It might’ve been a bit too early to judge for sure, but this kid seemed to at least share an interest in robots. If Nega could sway this kid into helping him, things could turn out the way he wanted.
Both were brought out of their thoughts by Eggman speaking. “So, do you like the place so far, Purge? It’s a work in progress, obviously, but one day, this great amusement park will bring happiness to everyone on the planet, I hope!” Purge looked at the doctor, then took a look around the place again. So far, it was pretty nice, but he felt like he sensed that this ‘Eggman’ wasn’t happy himself. Again, he looked at the doctor. “Why, I do like it, Robotnik. However, is it going to make you truly happy? It’s not right to sacrifice your happiness for everyone else’s. After all, I tried something a bit similar. I wanted my entire galaxy to be happy, but I wasn’t sacrificing my own happiness for it. I may have failed to make them happy, but that was because they were fools who didn’t realize how unhappy they were.” He gave a small shrug. Now wasn’t the time to rant about what had happened to him. “Is there some sort of deeper desire? Something you want to accomplish before you set out to finish this and make the planet happy?”
Eggman was surprised by what the young man had said, by what he was asking. Before he could get a word in, Nega looked at Eggman. “Yes, uniting the world, perhaps? That would contribute to their happiness, Ivo- world peace. The amusement park would be the cherry on top, but the most important part is having you bring everyone together, isn’t it?” Purge was pretty sure that he knew what Nega actually meant by ‘uniting the world,’ and he wasn’t too sure why he didn’t just say ‘taking over the world.’ If he was trying to censor his actual meaning to Purge, he’d need to, at some point, explain that it wasn’t necessary. But Eggman had looked down slightly, reaching up and rubbing the edge of his mustache with one hand. “That...would be nice...” Deep down, he knew what Nega actually meant, too, but it was a much nicer way of saying ‘taking over the world,’ and right now, that’s what he preferred to hear- ‘uniting’ the world.
Purge simply shrugged, laughing a little. “Well, I could help you! Maybe I can help this galaxy be happy! Together, we could achieve exactly what we want!” He would need to get to know these doctors better, but if this little space park was their doing, if these robots hurrying around to construct the place were their creations, he could use their technology and recreate his Ballistic Groove Gun. He’d achieve what he tried to over there right here! He would need to recreate a few of his other creations as well to simply get around the place, but it wouldn’t be too difficult. With the help of his own robots (who were simply watching the three converse at the moment) and the technology of these two, he was definitely going to be able to rebuild everything he’d need.
Eggman nodded. “I would be glad to have your help, Purge...” Nega nodded as well. “Quite thrilled, really.” He just needed to get closer to this kid. Possibly closer than Ivo would get to him. That would be the best way to go about trying to get things to go his way. By the end of all of this, hopefully, Ivo would be back to normal. Yes, this kid seemed to be exactly what he needed...
#ic#hnnng i guess we'll call this story or whatever you want to call it#happiness purge#that way i can come back to it#i wonder if i should tag the little existential crisis eggy had a while ago with that too#well nyeh here it is i'm startin some s t u f f with my son and the eggs#i'll probably make another post just summing this up so you don't have to read it#just a little *purge has joined the party* type thing i guess#annnd then the stuff can start#the start to ivo being a normal boy again#by the time this is over ivo should be back to his normal eggy self#and purge will probably be outta here i mean the boy has his own blog he doesn't need to stay here#long post //#space elevator more like;; 'terminal velocity's probably an elevator right and it looked like it connected to tropical resort'#also my son there is a complete child and brat and will likely pull some c o o l stuff and make nega look like best boy#nahhh that might be a bit much but he might come close to making nega look like best boy in comparison#also those three robots aren't exactly just there for looks like this may have made it look like they're gonna have reasons#hecc here we go finally maybe
[ IVO ROBOTINK ]
❝ No, clearly it was a fever dream. ❞ Ah yes. There’s the smug face Dr. Robotnik grew to hate. There’s something about the nostalgic tone that made it hard for him to answer properly, but you bet that face is top of the list of faces he wants to snuff the lights out of.
❝ Is there seriously nothing better for you to do than to harass me with questions we already know the answer to? Your life’s gotta be pretty sad if this is what you call fun. ❞
“Hey now, harass is a strong word! Think of it as... playful banter, reminiscing over the fun times. Besides, not like you had anything better to be doing, right?”
Sonic had already destroyed the Doctor’s previous mechanical wonders. Though he was curious to see what else Robotnik had up his sleeve. Maybe that was why Sonic had popped round for a visit: it wasn’t often, but there were times where Sonic would peek around Robotnik’s base without intent on destroying things.
Those little visitations seemed to be getting more frequent, as of late.
#antihedgehog#(SONIC.) “YOU GOTTA FIGHT. YOU KNOW IT IN YOUR SOUL.”#(IVO.) “YOU ARE NECESSARY. YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH.”#(ROBOTNIK.) “YOU SHOULD JUST DIE. YOU WORTHLESS SCUMBAG.”#(MAINVERSE.) “YOU HAVE CHANGED. YOU AREN’T THE SAME.”
given how much arrow has at least TRIED to play with morally grey areas with a lot of its characters, i’ve always found their labeling of black siren as “evil” to be weird, like. really. that seems like such a simplistic concept, especially in the context of some of the other villains they’ve fought. but i guess you could argue that it makes sense for a team of people who fight criminals every week to develop a certain type of black and white mentality, and especially quentin, who works as a cop.
but one thing that makes me so ??? about his exchange with sara in that book is that he goes “she’s evil, honey” and sara just reacts with this weird kind of. like, not acceptance necessarily, but “oh well maybe we can redeem” her as if the word ‘evil’ shouldn’t be kind of meaningless to sara outside of. well let’s just say i think sara has a very particular definition of the word ‘evil’ that applies less to supervillains and more to the kind of people she was going after as the canary.
but otherwise sara comes from such a different place than even the rest of the arrow cast -- she’s done terrible things that she still blames herself for, she’s worked alongside anthony ivo and the league, she... her narrative doesn’t even really have the same “fighting bad guys” structure as the other three dctv protagonist’s do, and it never has. she doesn’t really have rigid morals so much as she tends to do what she feels is right or necessary, which can shift from situation to situation, and i think she’d see too many similarities between her and siren to really feel comfortable condemning her anyway.
i just don’t feel like being told ‘e2 laurel is evil’ would mean much to her outside of ‘she’s in a bad place and she needs help’ since we’re talking about, you know, LAUREL
#ive always felt sara's reaction to black siren would be a lot different from anything we've seen so far#because shes such a different character and also had such a different relationship with e1 laurel#idk how canon those books are supposed to be but#arrow
Interview with Francesco Artibani
Monster Allergy Week, Day 7
Free-for-all
And here you have the second and last interview of the day, this time with our lord and saviour, Mr. Francesco Artibani. Thank you so much once again for your kindness and for this oportunity!
Again, huge thanks to @shikadora-momo for her incommensurable help!
If you want to read the original interview in Italian, click here.
If you want to read the interview in English, keep reading.
1. Let’s start with a small introduction. For better or worse, many fans came across Monster Allergy through the TV series and they might not know much about its original creators. Therefore, who is Francesco Artibani?
I’m a scriptwriter for comics and cartoons and I have been working in this field for many years, dedicating myself mostly to series for young audience. Monster Allergy is a series I have created along with Katja Centomo, while the graphic authors are Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa (it’s a four parents series). The adventures of Zick and Elena were born for the comic books and later on they became an animated series.
2. Aside from the one that brought us here, in which other projects can we find your signature?
I’m the author of the series Kylion for Disney Italy together with the designer Giulio De Vita, while in France I have created Il boia rosso (with Ivo Milazzo), Jimmy Jones (with Alessio Coppola) and Willy Wonder (with Silvio Camboni). Together with Lello Arena I have created the adventures of Scardaglione and Maruzzelli in the pages of Lupo Alberto (Alberto the Wolf). Monster Allergy is for sure my longest running series and the one which has given me more satisfactions (and keeps doing so…).
3. Has your work always been focused on the comic industry or have you worked in the animation field as well?
I have always divided my work between both fields. As for comics books, the list of projects is quite long but I’ll try and be concise: I write for the weekly publication Mickey Mouse since 1992 and, aside from hundreds of stories about mice and ducks, I have written the series PK, W.I.T.C.H and Kylion. Outside of Disney I have written tons of episodes for Alberto the Wolf, but in all this time I have also had the luck to take part in other projects, from Martin Mystére to Lys, from L’Omino Bufo to some series for the French market. In the animation field I have always written for Winx Club, but for Rainbow I have also scripted Tommy & Oscar, Pop Pixie and obviously the two seasons of Monster Allergy. Among other TV series scripted by me I remember Alberto the Wolf, The extraordinary adventures of Jules Verne, The adventures of Marco & Gina, Monsters and Pirates, Spike Team, Egyxos, Bu-Bum!.
4. How did you come to the conclusion that you wanted to devote your time to writing stories aimed –generally- at young audience? Do you have any advice for those who are dreaming of being able to do the same one day?
Actually I found out I loved writing while being a designer. I started working as an animator in a cartoon studio and working on the storyboards I got interested in scripting. Following this interest I gradually moved to writing until I fully abandoned my work as designer (published on Alberto the Wolf and Tiramolla - in the early 90’s, but not long after that I was already working as a full-time scriptwriter).
I don’t have any advices to give in particular; if you really have the passion and determination for this job the only thing left to do is to be prepared and study a lot, work a lot, because out there it’s full of talented people and this competition is merciless. For scriptwriters it is necessary to read a lot, to be informed, to be curious about everything - you have to be like sponges and absorb as much information as you can to transform it into new ideas.
5. Let’s talk a little bit about Monster Allergy now. ¿How and when was this story born?
It was born during a car trip with my wife, talking about projects and ideas that, as readers, we would have liked to find in a bookshop. We got excited about these characters and this bizarre world that started to take shape based on what we as readers would have liked to read.
6. How did you and Katja Centomo end up working with Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa in this project?
We knew each other already and we shared the idea with them.
7. Which were the first characters to come to life? It has come to our attention that there is a beautiful anecdote behind Elena’s peculiar name, is that true? Did anything similar happen with other characters as well?
Zick came first being the “engine” of the story.
Elena was named after our daughter who –at the time we created Monster Allergy– was still in Katja’s belly. And given that on her first ultrasound she looked like a potato, that’s how we found a nice last name for Zick’s friend.
As for the other characters, we followed our instinct and the inspiration of the moment, having tons of fun.
8. Where did you find the inspiration to create this fantastic world and, in particular, all the different species of monsters and the fun facts that we can find in the “Manuals”, gathered nowadays in the Monster Allergy Extra? Did they result from random ideas or is there an intention behind them?
There was a huge enthusiasm around Monster Allergy, it was a particularly happy and fun moment on the creative point of view. The rules of the world of monsters were born as a consequence of this spirit. For sure there was the will to give life to a small and coherent expanding universe.
9. This is something about which we fans have been theorizing a lot. Where does the story of Monster Allergy take place? Is it Italy, the USA or a little bit of both?
It’s a world of fantasy where things are all mixed up, a sort of AmEurope or something like that. For sure Zick and Elena will never go on a trip or holiday in a real city.
10. The first finale of this comic book, issue #29, was it the one you had in mind from the beginning or did you suddenly see yourselves forced to give an end to the story for some reason?
The editor decided to interrupt the series and notified us with little advance, so we had to give the series a finale against the clock. Certainly it wasn’t the end we wished for (in fact, we didn’t even have one in mind yet…) but we managed to make it as open as possible.
11. How and why did Monster Allergy come back after all these years?
We felt that, thanks to the TV series being aired over and over, the story had managed to gather a large and devoted audience, plus the readers of the comic books were still there. The biggest reason for Monster Allergy to return was our editor Tunué who believed in it and worked hard to bring the series back in bookshops, releasing a marvelous reprint and producing new stories.
12. Is there a reason in particular why you didn’t pick up the story where you left off and decided that time should have passed for the characters as well?
That seemed like an unusual idea for a comic - hence it was perfect for Monster Allergy. Usually in comic books characters never age, but we wanted to bring back our characters after they had grown up, just like the readers of once had grew up to become young adults. In their “evolved” version the characters have many more narrative opportunities to follow and this is a great thing.
13. Do you know yet how many issues will Monster Allergy Evolution have? Is there an specific reson why it is an annual publication?
We would like to carry on with at least one volume per year; producing a title like this is very time and money consuming, and all the authors of Monster Allergy are busy with other projects as well, so getting them all together for a new adventure is complicated. But we stay optimistic and hope that this hiatus between issues will decrease with time.
14. Do you know if there is any chance that the issues will be published in other countries aside from Italy and Germany in the near future?
Tunué is working to sell the rights in other nations. I believe that you will have news regarding this issue very soon, with the arrival of Monster Allergy to other European countries and across the Atlantic.
15. To finish with, do you have any message for the fans that are going to read this?
The message can’t be other than a huge thank you for all the affection you keep showing to Zick, Elena, Bombo and all the other protagonists of the series. We truly hope we can keep you company for a long time.
Yoni Oppenheim
Hometown?
New York, NY (and I spent summers in Tel Aviv, Israel as a child).
Where are you now?
New York, NY.
What's your current project?
Set in a society torn apart by internal strife, ecological disaster, and interference from foreign powers, my current project examine the cost of humiliation and explore what it means to be a member of a community, to be a leader, to have moral courage, and to resist. I am currently directing two plays written by the acclaimed Israeli playwright Dani Horowitz, Last Tree in Jerusalem and A Page of Talmud, for my company 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company. The plays will be performed together on one bill from December 4th – 15th, 2019 at TheaterLab.
I translated Last Tree in Jerusalem. This is the world premiere of my translation and the first time these plays - written 20 years apart - have been presented together. I had the opportunity to meet and interview Dani Horowitz in Israel as he was writing Last Tree in Jerusalem in response to the disengagement from Gaza. I fell in love with the script and felt that I had to translate it and share it with a wider audience.
I am also a 2019 Target Margin Theater Institute Fellow. I am one of five fellows who come from an array of artistic disciplines (dance, visual arts, and playwriting).
Why and how did you get into theatre?
The short answer: Harold Prince
The long answer: I discovered the theater in eighth grade when my piano teacher gave me songs from Phantom of the Opera to play. I had never seen a musical – Broadway or elsewhere. The closest I got to Phantom was the evocative ads I saw on the side of the M86 bus I took to school. At some point, it dawned on me that these songs were from plays that were staged in theaters and that I could actually go and see them. They were too expensive to attend, but I could envision my own productions in my head.
I borrowed the cast recording for Phantom from the library and saw that a man named Harold Prince had directed it. I didn’t know what a director did or who Harold Prince was so I spent hours at the performing arts library reading about his work. I was inspired by his creative vision and collaborative spirit. Eventually, I saw The Phantom of the Opera and have had a desire to see and make theater ever since.
What is your directing dream project?
My dream project would be to devise a show with a diverse multi-generational cast comprised of people of different physical abilities. I would also love to do theater in prisons. I would like to reengage with theater work I used to do with non-actors ranging from senior citizens and at-risk teens.
What kind of theatre excites you?
Theater that embraces the unique properties and limitations of the theatrical form and doesn’t try to mimic what film and television do better. Work that engages in ritual. Work that pushes and questions what can constitute a theatrical event. When I was doing my master’s degree in Oslo, I befriended the members of an artistic collective called Verdensteatret whose work pushed the bounds of live performance towards installation and multi-media art. Witnessing their work and process first-hand was eye-opening and inspiring. They modeled a way of being an artist in the world. Here in NYC, I love the Public Works initiative at The Public Theater.
What do you want to change about theatre today?
I am a Sabbath-observant Orthodox Jew, meaning that from Friday sundown to Saturday night I don’t work. I co-founded 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company in order to provide myself and other Sabbath-observant artists opportunities to work and grow in our craft. I wish mainstream theaters could be more flexible and accommodating in their schedules, particularly in New York which has a very high concentration of religiously observant Jews.
What is your opinion on getting a directing MFA?
I did not get an MFA, so I can’t speak to the experience. I got my BFA from NYU-Tisch which is one of the few drama programs with an undergraduate directing concentration through Playwrights Horizons Theater School. I wasn’t interested in rushing into an MFA after such an intense experience, nor did I have the finances to do so. However, I feel like over the years I’ve cobbled together my own MFA of real life. Before founding 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company, I directed stuff freelance and learned a ton by assistant directing new works. I reached out to theaters and opera companies for observerships and had the opportunity to see how directors like Peter Sellars, Ivo van Hove and Mark Lamos work. I am also a dramaturg and spent several years as Doug Wright’s research associate as he wrote his Ibsen-themed play Posterity. I then served as the production dramaturg for the world premiere at Atlantic Theater Company. It was a rare opportunity to see a play develop from idea to production and be part of that process.
Who are your theatrical heroes?
Rina Yerushalmi, Harold Prince, Julie Taymor, Thomas Ostermeier, Henrik Ibsen, Anne Bogart, Peter Brook, Catherine Filloux, and Leone de' Sommi Portaleone.
Any advice for directors just starting out?
There is only one of you in the world. Your specific perspective and aesthetic is necessary for our cultural ecosystem to be diverse and healthy. Discover your voice, keep growing and learning, and own it. Do the work no one else can.
Part of growing is seeing as much aesthetically and culturally diverse work as you can - not only theater, but of all artistic disciplines.
Your life in the arts is a marathon, not a sprint.
Plugs!
Common IRS Where’s My Refund Questions and Errors https://ift.tt/2NoJM1Y
The IRS had made huge progress in trying to be transparent about the refund process. But, with every step forward, there are two steps back. The IRS used to publish an IRS refund calendar, but they discontinued that for the new "21 days for 90% of filers".
They have also introduced tools like Where's My Refund (now simply called Check My Refund Status) and IRS2Go, both designed to let filers see where their refunds are. But, like anything that deals with the impatient public, if things don't work right, it can be a struggle.
I get it, you want to know where your tax refund is, and dealing with the IRS can be both scary and challenging.
After hearing all types of questions over the years, here is our list of common IRS Where's My Refund questions, comments, concerns, errors, and more.
If you're seeing something not on this list, leave a comment and share your story so that we can keep track of issues as they arise, and hopefully help or reassure others in the future. Or, check out our Tax Center for more info.
I'm Getting An Error Code, What Does It Mean?
What Does Tax Topic 151 Mean?
Are you getting the message "Tax Topic 151: Appeal Your Rights" when you log into Where's My Refund?
Tax Topic 151 means that you're getting a tax offset, which is where the Department of Treasury will be taking your refund to pay for something you owe.
The most common reasons for getting a tax offset are unpaid taxes, unpaid child support payments, and offsets for Federal student loans in default.
If you received Tax Topic 151 error code, the IRS can't really help you. They will send you a letter that explains why you won't be getting your return, or how much was taken. However, the best place to call is the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Their customer service can explain the issue better. You can learn more here: https://www.fiscal.treasury.gov/
If your student loan is in default, you need to rehabilitate your student loan to stop having your tax return taken. To learn about student loan rehabilitation, go here.
What Does Tax Topic 152 Mean?
Tax Topic 152 means you're getting a tax refund. That's it!
The IRS has given guidelines this year that 90% of tax filers should receive their refund within 21 days of filing. The IRS works weekends during tax season, so it's 21 days, not "business days".
If you want a good estimate, check out our tax refund calendar for 2020.
//
Why Does It Give Me A Direct Deposit Date, And Then Say Call If Not Received By Another Date?
When you get a direct deposit date, the system will tell you "Expect your refund on this date, but call if not received by XXX date". Why?
Basically, some banks take several days to process ETF transfers into accounts. The IRS will be sending the money on the date listed. However, your bank may not post it to your account for several days.
Note: one of the biggest problems we see here with direct deposits is that the name listed on the bank account doesn't match the tax return. This can be due to a spouse's or partner's name on the account, but it can also be due to identity theft - which is what the IRS is concerned about.
The bottom line is to make sure the name on your bank account matches your tax return information!
I Called And Verified My ID - Did I Have An Identity Theft Issue?
The IRS has been cracking down on identity theft for the last several years. This is a great thing, because a lot of people were becoming victims of tax refund identity theft.
However, a lot of people think they are "verifying their identity" when they call the IRS. And while this is true, it's not identity theft related.
Whenever you call the IRS, they will ask you to verify your ID. This is just for your security, and is designed to prevent identity theft. It doesn't mean there is an identity theft issue with your return. Many callers have reported IRS representatives saying this is "to protect your identity", and that's correct - but it's not because there is a problem with your return.
If you do have an identity theft issue with your return, you're going to get a form 5071C letter in the mail from the IRS. You'll also be asked to verify your identity in person at an IRS office, or through a new website setup for identity verification, Identity Verification Service.
So, unless you had to do that, identity theft did NOT impact your return.
Are You Sure I Had To Verify My ID?
I keep getting tons and tons of questions about ID verification, so I tracked down the IRS Operational Guidelines, and here is what the IRS is going to do whenever you call and inquire about your tax refund. This is straight from the IRS operational manual:
For purposes of identification and to prevent unauthorized disclosures of tax information, you must know with whom you are speaking, complete name and title and the purpose of the call/contact. It may be necessary to ask the caller or visitor if he or she is an individual taxpayer (primary or secondary), a business taxpayer (sole proprietor, partner, or corporate officer), or an authorized third party.
Inadequate authentication of the identity of a caller could result in an "unauthorized disclosure" of return or return information. If an IRS employee makes a knowing or negligent unauthorized disclosure, the United States may be liable for damages. See IRC section 7213, IRC section 7213A , and IRC section 7431. If an IRS employee makes a voluntary, intentional disclosure, the employee may be subject to criminal penalties including a fine, imprisonment, and loss of employment.
Required authentication probes:
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN),Social Security Number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) – If the taxpayer is inquiring about a jointly filed return, only one TIN is necessary, preferably the primary number. The secondary TIN may be required if the primary is unavailable, or for use as an additional authentication check. See IRM 3.21.263.7.1 ,Disclosure Guidelines for ITIN Data , for specific ITIN research. Note: In the event the name and TIN provided by the caller at the beginning of the call do not match our records, ask the caller to verify their information. Terminate the call if, after probing, the information provided still does not match our records. Ask the caller to check their records and call back.
Name – as it appears on the tax return (for the tax year(s) in question), including spouses name for joint return.
Current address - If taxpayer fails to provide the correct address of record, but correctly responds to all of the other items, (IMF - name, TIN and date of birth) you may request additional taxpayer authentication pursuant to IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication. Note: If you are unable to verify the address on the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS), request the address as it appears on the last tax return or as modified by IRS records.
Date of birth (DOB) of primary or secondary taxpayer - If the taxpayer fails the DOB probe, but correctly responds to all other items above (name, TIN, address), you may request additional taxpayer authentication pursuant to IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication. Note: If there is a discrepancy with the DOB on IRS records (CC INOLE) but you are confident (taxpayer has passed authentication requirements) that you are speaking with the taxpayer, advise the taxpayer to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to correct the error.
So what does that all mean? It means that you have to verify your identity whenever you contact the IRS! So stop worrying about it or thinking that it had anything to do with your return.
But The IRS Told Me To Wait 6 or 9 Weeks? Is That True?
No. If you had no issue with your account, you don't have to wait 6 weeks or 9 weeks. Even if you get an Error Code 9001, you don't have to wait.
Don't believe me? Well first, here's a screenshot from one of our readers who got the 9001 error on 2/5, and now has a direct deposit date:
Second, still don't believe me? Why would these IRS agents tell me that I need to wait? Because that's what the operations manual tells them to do.
We went digging because a lot of people were talking about it, and here's why they tell you this (this is straight from the IRS Operations Manual):
Call/Inquiry For Return Found, But Not Processes
If the return was received, but not processed, one of the following will happen:
If a Letter 4464C or Letter 4115C was prepared and it has been 14 days or less from this date, inform the taxpayer he/she will receive a letter within the next two weeks.
Advise the taxpayer their return was selected for review without disclosing the IVO involvement.
Perform additional authentication per IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication, and if the caller passes, prepare e-Form 4442 to IVO, using category "RICS IVO Complex issue not ID Theft." Include authentication results in AMS. Advise the taxpayer they should receive further information or their refund within 6 weeks from the initiation of the e-4442.
That sounds scary, but what does each of them mean?
The letter means additional information is required. They will tell you what to expect. If you're selected for review, they will tell you and will not hide this fact. It doesn't necessarily mean anything, and about 1% of returns are selected every year randomly.
This means they honestly don't know what you're calling them because your return is in process. eForm 4442 just documents the fact you called and it's not ID theft. If they suspect you are a victim of identity theft, they fill out a different form. The advice of 6 weeks is simply because they have no issues with your return, so wait and see if they do! If you call back, the same rules apply - they will simply document it and tell you to wait 6 weeks.
So where did the 9 weeks come from? We couldn't find it anywhere, but we think that it has to do with reps really trying to advice you NOT to call, because you don't have to!
What Does Return Received vs. Refund Approved Mean?
When you file your refund, the first bar you're waiting for is for your "Return to be Received". This only means that the IRS was able to process your return. It has nothing to do with anything other than a system check that your return was valid.
The next bar is "Refund Approved". This means that your tax refund was approved and you should be getting a direct deposit date (or check mailed).
The final bar is "Refund Sent", which means that the IRS has sent your refund by check or direct deposit.
I Lost All My Bars, Or I Have No Bars
Some Where's My Refund users have reported losing all their bars, or no bars are showing up.
This means NOTHING.
Typically, this is more of a website/programming issue, than a system or status issue. It might have to do with your web browser or phone. It might have to do with the IRS systems being overloaded with traffic.
Regardless, it means nothing for you as the person waiting for a tax refund.
I'm Getting An Error Code 9001
IRS Error Code 9001 is becoming a very common error code that a lot of people are reporting on Where's My Refund.
But what does it mean? According to the IRS, all it means is that the Where's My Refund system (or IRS2Go) was accessed by a secondary SSN on the return.
Some of the common themes I see with this are:
Wife accessed the return, but husband was primary filer
Kids accessed the return, but parents were primary filers
Family isn't communicating and telling the other person they accessed it
Typos - Typo on the return or typo entered information on WMR
The bottom line is that IRS Code 9001 means NOTHING for your return status. It has nothing to do with identity theft directly (but it could), and it is no reason to call the IRS. For more information, see our detailed write-up on IRS Code 9001.
I'm Getting An Error Code, What Does It Mean?
There are about 100 different error codes that could happen using Where's My Refund. The IRS is very detailed, and has a system or process for everything. If you're getting an error code when logging into WMR, here what to do.
Check out our list of all the IRS Where's My Refund Error Codes.
Once you know your code, you might need to call the IRS, or you might need to wait for them to send you a letter explaining what happened.
Some of the common error codes simply have to do with typos. Make sure you double-check your return!
What questions do you have? What are you seeing out there?
The IRS has been cracking down on identity theft for the last several years. This is a great thing, because a lot of people were becoming victims of tax refund identity theft.
However, a lot of people think they are "verifying their identity" when they call the IRS. And while this is true, it's not identity theft related.
Whenever you call the IRS, they will ask you to verify your ID. This is just for your security, and is designed to prevent identity theft. It doesn't mean there is an identity theft issue with your return. Many callers have reported IRS representatives saying this is "to protect your identity", and that's correct - but it's not because there is a problem with your return.
If you do have an identity theft issue with your return, you're going to get a form 5071C letter in the mail from the IRS. You'll also be asked to verify your identity in person at an IRS office, or through a new website setup for identity verification, Identity Verification Service.
So, unless you had to do that, identity theft did NOT impact your return.
Are You Sure I Had To Verify My ID?
I keep getting tons and tons of questions about ID verification, so I tracked down the IRS Operational Guidelines, and here is what the IRS is going to do whenever you call and inquire about your tax refund. This is straight from the IRS operational manual:
For purposes of identification and to prevent unauthorized disclosures of tax information, you must know with whom you are speaking, complete name and title and the purpose of the call/contact. It may be necessary to ask the caller or visitor if he or she is an individual taxpayer (primary or secondary), a business taxpayer (sole proprietor, partner, or corporate officer), or an authorized third party.
Inadequate authentication of the identity of a caller could result in an "unauthorized disclosure" of return or return information. If an IRS employee makes a knowing or negligent unauthorized disclosure, the United States may be liable for damages. See IRC section 7213, IRC section 7213A , and IRC section 7431. If an IRS employee makes a voluntary, intentional disclosure, the employee may be subject to criminal penalties including a fine, imprisonment, and loss of employment.
Required authentication probes:
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN),Social Security Number (SSN), Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) – If the taxpayer is inquiring about a jointly filed return, only one TIN is necessary, preferably the primary number. The secondary TIN may be required if the primary is unavailable, or for use as an additional authentication check. See IRM 3.21.263.7.1 ,Disclosure Guidelines for ITIN Data , for specific ITIN research. Note: In the event the name and TIN provided by the caller at the beginning of the call do not match our records, ask the caller to verify their information. Terminate the call if, after probing, the information provided still does not match our records. Ask the caller to check their records and call back.
Name – as it appears on the tax return (for the tax year(s) in question), including spouses name for joint return.
Current address - If taxpayer fails to provide the correct address of record, but correctly responds to all of the other items, (IMF - name, TIN and date of birth) you may request additional taxpayer authentication pursuant to IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication. Note: If you are unable to verify the address on the Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS), request the address as it appears on the last tax return or as modified by IRS records.
Date of birth (DOB) of primary or secondary taxpayer - If the taxpayer fails the DOB probe, but correctly responds to all other items above (name, TIN, address), you may request additional taxpayer authentication pursuant to IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication. Note: If there is a discrepancy with the DOB on IRS records (CC INOLE) but you are confident (taxpayer has passed authentication requirements) that you are speaking with the taxpayer, advise the taxpayer to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to correct the error.
So what does that all mean? It means that you have to verify your identity whenever you contact the IRS! So stop worrying about it or thinking that it had anything to do with your return.
But The IRS Told Me To Wait 6 or 9 Weeks? Is That True?
No. If you had no issue with your account, you don't have to wait 6 weeks or 9 weeks. Even if you get an Error Code 9001, you don't have to wait.
Don't believe me? Well first, here's a screenshot from one of our readers who got the 9001 error on 2/5, and now has a direct deposit date:
Second, still don't believe me? Why would these IRS agents tell me that I need to wait? Because that's what the operations manual tells them to do.
We went digging because a lot of people were talking about it, and here's why they tell you this (this is straight from the IRS Operations Manual):
Call/Inquiry For Return Found, But Not Processes
If the return was received, but not processed, one of the following will happen:
If a Letter 4464C or Letter 4115C was prepared and it has been 14 days or less from this date, inform the taxpayer he/she will receive a letter within the next two weeks.
Advise the taxpayer their return was selected for review without disclosing the IVO involvement.
Perform additional authentication per IRM 21.1.3.2.4, Additional Taxpayer Authentication, and if the caller passes, prepare e-Form 4442 to IVO, using category "RICS IVO Complex issue not ID Theft." Include authentication results in AMS. Advise the taxpayer they should receive further information or their refund within 6 weeks from the initiation of the e-4442.
That sounds scary, but what does each of them mean?
The letter means additional information is required. They will tell you what to expect. If you're selected for review, they will tell you and will not hide this fact. It doesn't necessarily mean anything, and about 1% of returns are selected every year randomly.
This means they honestly don't know what you're calling them because your return is in process. eForm 4442 just documents the fact you called and it's not ID theft. If they suspect you are a victim of identity theft, they fill out a different form. The advice of 6 weeks is simply because they have no issues with your return, so wait and see if they do! If you call back, the same rules apply - they will simply document it and tell you to wait 6 weeks.
So where did the 9 weeks come from? We couldn't find it anywhere, but we think that it has to do with reps really trying to advice you NOT to call, because you don't have to!
What Does Return Received vs. Refund Approved Mean?
When you file your refund, the first bar you're waiting for is for your "Return to be Received". This only means that the IRS was able to process your return. It has nothing to do with anything other than a system check that your return was valid.
The next bar is "Refund Approved". This means that your tax refund was approved and you should be getting a direct deposit date (or check mailed).
The final bar is "Refund Sent", which means that the IRS has sent your refund by check or direct deposit.
I Lost All My Bars, Or I Have No Bars
Some Where's My Refund users have reported losing all their bars, or no bars are showing up.
This means NOTHING.
Typically, this is more of a website/programming issue, than a system or status issue. It might have to do with your web browser or phone. It might have to do with the IRS systems being overloaded with traffic.
Regardless, it means nothing for you as the person waiting for a tax refund.
I'm Getting An Error Code 9001
IRS Error Code 9001 is becoming a very common error code that a lot of people are reporting on Where's My Refund.
But what does it mean? According to the IRS, all it means is that the Where's My Refund system (or IRS2Go) was accessed by a secondary SSN on the return.
Some of the common themes I see with this are:
Wife accessed the return, but husband was primary filer
Kids accessed the return, but parents were primary filers
Family isn't communicating and telling the other person they accessed it
Typos - Typo on the return or typo entered information on WMR
The bottom line is that IRS Code 9001 means NOTHING for your return status. It has nothing to do with identity theft directly (but it could), and it is no reason to call the IRS. For more information, see our detailed write-up on IRS Code 9001.
I'm Getting An Error Code, What Does It Mean?
There are about 100 different error codes that could happen using Where's My Refund. The IRS is very detailed, and has a system or process for everything. If you're getting an error code when logging into WMR, here what to do.
Check out our list of all the IRS Where's My Refund Error Codes.
Once you know your code, you might need to call the IRS, or you might need to wait for them to send you a letter explaining what happened.
Some of the common error codes simply have to do with typos. Make sure you double-check your return!
What questions do you have? What are you seeing out there?
Sonic Movie Franchise Concepts
This.......I've been wanting to make this yet I'm nervous. Including I discarded the intro making the first time. Yet just I feel this needs to be made. But I was thinking DeviantArt or Tumblr first. Then I thought maybe Tumblr cause I'm a bit more popular here. I'm gonna say this all of this is mainly a parody yet I'm wanting to be honest. The whole Sony Sonic movie 2018 gets to me and the fact I've thought of ideas for a franchise. I'm really wanting to share stuff like quotes and synopsises which are explaining what the story is in a short way you know. I was really inspired but I did not want to rip off this persons funny picture thing with Kevin Fiege and Zack Snyder. Let me say I really like both of them, I like both MCU and the DCEU. They are both not perfect and mainly...this is a parody thing but it's me being honest. Including with myself. I'm thinking yeah copying this and putting it on DeviantArt. So let's get started. GeekGemCorduroy: "Hey there I'm GeekGemCorduroy, and I'm a Sonic fan with ideas and concepts of how I feel about the Sonic The Hedgehog series as a film franchise that's questionable yet good intentions of being great as best it needs to be" Serious side of GeekGem: "umm okay nice start a bit questionable like you said" GeekGemCorduroy: "I have no history in film making, or even being involved yet I've learned some things and keep thinking ideas that I feel would work. Also I hate Studio interference bullshit yet I really wanna make the best movies possible and hope the make the greatest video game movies ever made" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "Worrisome yet it's just ideas and the intentions are there and they are great. Yet wait you said movies wait I understand and you want to say more of more great video game movies" GeekGemCorduroy: "I've been a Sonic fan my entire life. Even at times I feel silly of myself yet I really like the franchise cause it seriously means a lot to me. The concept of a movie is a serious thing cause like what people say movies are more accessible to everyone and you need to do a damn good job. When it comes to my films I wanna remain authentic and true to the meaning of the characters and why people liked them. Along with making necessary changes to the characters story and looks to fit with how where going. Yet also I wanna make them badass everyone's a BADASS! Yet also give them depth. Including to characters I feel need depth cause I want to make them more interesting. Make everyone deep as best and much as you can or some what, more emotion so people can take it serious like how I do. Make the stories on a epic scale in a way" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "okay...just asking are these films live action or animated okay you wanna be animated. Including that's all really good. Yet I feel you need to remember even if Sonic has had serious stories it depends of how it's written. You are making a movie or movies about a blue hedgehog who runs very fast that destroys robots. You need to be careful" GeekGemCorduroy: "Realism hmm kind of weird yet imagine how the world would react to animals with God like powers, they take it seriously yet question why do they looks like cartoons and shit. Also don't worry theirs color cause color makes thing stand out. Product placement haven't thought of much I mainly wanna create knock off parody versions of places like restaurants, and not reference any other media thing in case of weird crossover. But I think I want some Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Target, Me N Ed's, and Little Cesar's Pizza product placement, that's the good shit. Sure yeah but I don't wanna put it in your face it's a little thing it's just there, we don't wanna make it too distracting" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "......that's mainly good yet I'm questioning the final part of that. He's right about product placement" GeekGemCorduroy: "I wanna tackle certain themes and story. Such as we need more positivity in the world, having the courage to stand up to opposers, family being important and how far would you go, that at times you may need help. Developing relationships between characters cause that makes the world more believable and you care about characters. Yet I also want people to react to a God like beings which are at times animals, and robots, along with other things. Including literally Sonic going to a court hearing and official's questioning do we need a Sonic The Hedgehog which makes him question himself and it honestly breaks him. Also in the same movie people realize we need a hedgehog to save our asses but help him too in the same movie where he's dealing with the God Of Destruction in his perfect form. Also robots questioning their life such as Metal Sonic who at times in my fan fiction ideas has had thought about commiting suicide cause his whole purpose in life and how he is and depressing, yet that's revealed in a Metal Sonic spin off comic if Archie Comics can do it. Also themes like corruption like Eggman or Robotnik named in this universe Eggman's an insult mainly by Sonic and others, that Eggman has the power that he's friends with certain powerful people. Including give a brutal comeback to these people then realize you'll be worse then them. Also Shadow and Chaos realizing the world has changed and not to stereotype cause they focus all of their anger in one thing. Chaos is a bit more simple, yet Shadow is more deep, cause he doesn't wanna let go of Maria and is straight up helping the plan go forth, getting the footage of Gerald's exucation, playing it for the world, GUN doesn't destroy the ARK in case if they wanna destroy a hostile country. I really don't like governments, Shadow knows what he's doing and to change his mind he almost kills somebody who found tapes of what happened 50 years ago. Including when Shadow see's other trying to protect this character he realizes the monster he's been wanting to destroy. He has PTSD and is mentally ill. Seriously he doesn't like to cry and hearing the name Maria said by someone else unless it's him or Gerald get him upset. It's genius and emotional also fixing plotholes makes it better too! Also the idea Shadow along with Sonic but it's mainly Shadow saves the planet, gets stabbed, they think he's killed including he falls to the Earth. People legit make a statue of him in memory cause he sacrificed himself. It's deep just like Metal Sonic having Sonic's memories freaking out and asking why Sonic said Amy, Super Sonic fighting but also talking to Chaos that the world's changed, also E-102 Gamma at Station Square too deciding if he should live or release the bird, and Amy and Metal Sonic see Gamma blow his face off with a gun releasing the Flicky. Along with Metal Sonic giving a Chaos Emerald to Sonic realizing robots like him can think beyond his Ai it inspires and the world needs more positivity. It's serious yet meaningful. The themes are strong here man" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "......that first part was good but the rest.....I understand Sonic Adventure 2 was dark, just.....that's a bit ummm extreme okay not really. People are gonna question that a bit I understand wanting a deeper story with themes but you have to be careful" GeekGemCorduroy: "I wanna take time with world building cause give it time. Including that idea of a Sonic cinematic universe I got some time ago. Let's build stuff up first yet in the first movie we have Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Dr. Ivo Robotnik/Eggman, and Metal Sonic in the same movie. Along with mixing story stuff from Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles, CD and even the OVA cause I want to make a new version of the, "Strange Isn't It". The Death Egg is part of all of this too. Including human characters that are important but Sonic is still the main one. Yeah theirs no Little Planet but maybe later. Including were not going off stuff like comics mainly video games cause Archie might not like that, also Ken Penders is stupid. The game characters are more important, give them more meaning. Yet maybe the OVA, X, Sonic Boom are okay if Sega allows it hope so. Don't worry some characters have already met. Mainly Sonic and Knuckles haven't met" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "so wait your taking elements from those games and even a cinematic universe. Okay I like it that your taking your time but seriously be careful man" GeekGemCorduroy: "we want to plan carefully which is why the story of Sonic Adventure is the first sequel, and Sonic Adventure 2 is the 2nd sequel. I wanna do a Unleashed adaption but we have to wait. Including dropping a few easter eggs here and there. Yet I really want Metal Sonic so he's in the first film cause he needs more love, and makes the film more interesting and meaningful cause Metal is awesome" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "It's good your planning carefully. Yet you need to be careful" GeekGemCorduroy: "I'm mainly a crowd pleaser. I wanna impress both general audiences and fans alike. We wanna put easter eggs such as a mention or a reference if you see something. Yet they won't be important for the movie their in, sometimes in the background, or mentioned causally like Eggman being related to Gerald, and also even post credits and end credits scene cause those help. Even one setting up the first sequel about Chaos, and after that setting up the second sequel about Shadow and how it connects with the first sequel. Along with even a scene during the credits with Eggman's robots finding Shadow on Earth unconscious, in a huge meteor like crash hole and he's still alive. Also I thought of cool titles that reference and are important to the movies such as Sonic The God Of Destruction hope other world countries don't mind that, and Sonic The Ultimate Lifeform. Really cool and I thought about putting the word the for the Chaos one. Sorry also.....yeah I guess everyone yet I like to put deep stuff in it. I really want people to understand why Sonic is loved and that they can like it too, maybe they could become a fan. Give them a good movie, that's what's important. So yeah I guess all ages I forget that at times" Serious Side Of GeekGem: "the fact you forgot about that kind of worries me oh wait you forgot that at times" GeekGemCorduroy: "I'm not perfect yet if theirs a problem we'll fix it yet...the deepness it's good.....along with I want these to be fresh on Rotten Tomatos" Serious Side Of GeekGem: ".....I'm gonna be honest no offense I thought this would be more crazy" GeekGemCorduroy: "I'm GeekGemCorduroy and I want to make a really good Sonic film that makes millions or billions at the box office also I REALLY WANT THAT SONIC MOVIE IN 2018 TO BE GOOD sure Disney would be better yet still petty of them cancelling Wander Over Yonder savewoy, yet the Marvel and Star Wars films but why Sony maybe Disney thinks they have enough yet imagine if Disney Infinity was around Sonic Disney Infinity figures but also less risk yet it's more safe but yes a PG-13 Sonic film like the rumors said or were they true.......I wanted to mention this Serious Side Of GeekGem: ".....I don't know this is a parody" I just got up and.....just saying I was looking at the picture from DeviantArt ha..... Was trying to find good tags ha and...I'm the kind of guy forgot to mention this who doesn't like the custom character much in Sonic Forces...lol meh it's normal to smile a lot even now I made this littertly
