could you perchance elaborate on npd squirrelstar because i think i see the vision
ohhhhh absolutely anon, and as I don't get many asks about warriors: hi :3
Honestly it kinda started out as a pure vibes thing, like I just thought "hmmmm which cats to hit with The NPD Beam.. squirrelstar hhholy shiit i think i just had a vision. i didn't see anything in the vision but I had a visionnn" and it stuck. Mostly headcanon stuff, maybe some slight au territory (but wc canon is already flimsy as it is anyway, so really, it didn't change much from the originals) but the longer I though about it the more it just kinda fits in lol, especially with her torment gauntlet storyline but not entirely because of it, either -
(I do not know how coherent this'll be, or if I even say everything I wanted to, as I am. so sleepy rn) Honestly the first thing I thought after initially coming up with it is. her relationships with Brambleclaw and Ashfur gsfdsghsd. It's very common to just believe that the abuser must be The Narcissist (or that just, all people with npd are automatically predestined to be abusers no matter what) while it's actually way more often that people with npd are more likely to stay in those relationships, or get abused because *shocker* mentally ill people actually way more likely to be treated as subhuman by society and the like. And I've already saw one or two people just proclaim that Brambleclaw is a narcissist because um, *checks notes* he's controlling of his wife and extra sensitive of (oftentimes valid) criticisms of his leadership or something idk man which. uhhhhh. no can we not please + shut up forever + now I'm gonna do the opposite nobody can stop me (also happened with rainflower. and clear sky. and sol. but mostly rainflower. lord help me)
(on a sillier note though....... nothing much to say about Ashfur as of now but after his Squilf/Ashf breakup if he was a human he'd become a self-proclaimed tiktok Dark Empath)
And lastly the headcanon stuff, which I completely made up while stirring the muffin batter but they might or might not have canon basis too, I don't know, I'm not gonna look for it and I don't really care either;
Does the right thing not because it's "what you're supposed to do or whatever idk I have no idea how any of you define it anymore", but because it makes her feel good. And even if by the end of the day she doesn't get any praise or reward for it, even if she gets shunned for it, what matters to her is that she did the Good Thing and therefore she is Good and that's what matters, and everybody else is so stupid for not seeing it. Really, why does it always have to be her that actually bothers with helping people nowadays. She's got a so much better grade at Good Person than like 99% of her Clan, StarClan bless
Leafpool was always consistently her equal person, she deserves the world and maybe even more than she does because she's just that great, it's her an Leafy against the world <3 we're eating soft tacos later <3 hold on Squirrelflight's Hope just called and- oh god, oh fuck
neither low nor high empathy but a secret third thing: really fucking weird ever changing empathy that also varies on whoever it is for some unexplainable reason. Based off what I have and how do I even explain this in simple, not-10-paragraph-post length....... just trust me on this. What I'll say rn is that she tends to personally care about nearly exclusively towards people relevant to her, or those she considers "interesting" regardless if she actually likes them.
always sets her goals either incredibly high (because naturally she's gonna achieve this exactly as she imagined and wait what do you mean-), or very low (so that she can do the woohoo!!! whenever she succeeds)
she splashes water everywhere when drinking she spills it so much she puts all her paws in that damn stream then puts them all over the kids and now they're all wet they all shake it off directly at Brambleclaw
> gets criticized once > fucking dies
I'll add onto this if I have time maybe, and don't completely forget about this whole post

Something I've noticed with your polyamory headcanon is siblings are part of the ..wippfur? I hope Im using that right. And the mother of kits culturally doesn't mention the bio father- but her sibling is treated as one of the emotional fathers of her kits. Fathers are also not tracked. So this leads to my question, how common is sibling incest in this dynamic when it cannot be tracked, and emotionally siblings are already co-parents?
I love that you brought up the incest question because while I actually am really enthusiastic about talking of the minutiae of it, I have A History with being on the bad end of a pro-shipper moral panic so I try not to bring it up myself much ya know?
SO! Here's how the pfurr system avoids sibling incest and how their incest taboo differs from our own!
First thing to understand is that a pfurr, a group of cats who sleep together on the same nest, is considered the central family unit. Littermates who share a nest are the most basic form of being nestmates but cats can leave or join, usually in pursuit of romantic relationships. If the cats in question are not directly related they are presumed to be in a relationship with each other.
Cats born to any cat in the pfurr are considered siblings, and it is generally assumed another cat within that same pfurr sired them even if it is not known explicitly who. This means these could very well be, in English terms, not only full siblings but half-siblings, cousins, or even biologically unrelated if two additions into the nest who aren't related to each other had them.
Where it gets tricky and incest may very well occurr is with cousins from siblings not inside the pfurr. This is best done with an example so let's take the following hypothetical pfurr: Ashfur, Brambleclaw, and Squirrelflight. Their kits, Jay, Holly, and Lion, would count Squirrelflight's kin as their own, so Firestar and Sandstorm (as well as any other partners for them I end up adding) would be their grandparents. Leafpool would be their aunt and not another one of her fathers since she does not share a nest with Squirrel.
However, the same couldn't be said of grandma Goldenflower or aunts Tawnypelt and Ferncloud. The kits wouldn't really know much nor care about their extended kin on either of their side. Thus, Foxleap, Icecloud, Flametail, Dawnpelt, and Tigerheart, even though we would count them as cousins to them would be just regular cats and perfectly elligible partners (if not for the tiny detail that Tawny's kits are in ShadowClan).
There are exceptions for certain pipfurrs that are exceptionally close to their kids. It usually happens with 2-cat nests such as the canon Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight situation. Jay, Holly, and Lion absolutely regard Tawnypelt as their myepip (paternal aunt) and Flame, Dawn, and Tiger as their rabir (cousins).
But it can also happen in poly situations such as with what I have for Cinderheart, Lionblaze, Poppyfrost, and Berrynose. Lionblaze is a particularly affectionate and involved parent to Cinderheart's first litter which in turn means Hollytuft, Fernsong, and Sorrelstripe are much more curious and involved with their uncle Jayfeather, their grandma Squirrelflight, their grandaunt Leafpool, and so on.
This contrasts how their elder siblings Cherryfall and Molewhisker view their parents. Berrynose and Cinderheart were during their childhood about as equally involved, Berrynose perhaps not quite as much but not to the point Cinderheart was pulling extraordinary effort. But the point is they are viewed as equal pipfurrs such that they never really got very curious or formed a bond with Berrynose's kin. And of course Lionblaze is sort of a stepfather here so they don't feel terribly attached to his kin either.
This is my compromise between the mess that adding polyamory makes and the desire to clean up the tree a little. I think it makes for an interesting way to view kinship and it gives me flexibility, particularly for how I can ignore or take into account paternal kin at my convenience.

for the au ship meme - leafpool? no preference for what kind of au or who else other than I hc her as wlw
so I had to try to not think of one that wasn't Mothpool or SorrelLeaf, but then I had a funny idea;
/
Leafpool x Daisy
instead of becoming close to Crowfeather, when Leafpool first met Daisy, she found herself awestruck with the barn molly
as Daisy joined ThunderClan, Leafpool made excuses to visit the medicine cat den, checking on her and making sure she's alright. The two grew close and Daisy was thankful to have someone by her side
they were fast friends as Leafpool taught Daisy about life in ThunderClan
when her kits were born, Leafpool doted on Berrykit, Hazelkit, and Mousekit and part of her wished that she herself could have her own family
one with a partner as caring as Daisy
as Daisy learns about her former mate Smoky, she's heartbroken and turns to her friend, Leafpool for comfort
the medicine cat is there for her
Leafpool helps care for the kits and as they watch them one day, Daisy asks if Leafpool ever considered taking a mate and having kits
Leafpool reminds her that she can't do that - she's a medicine cat, after all
Daisy seems saddened about learning this before it clicks with her and she asks if she was willing to have a secret surrogate
Leafpool is surprised and brings up that she doesn't even have a mate - she can't have a mate
Daisy reminds Leafpool that she, herself, doesn't have a mate, either, and yet she's taking care of her kits
Leafpool points out that Daisy has her for help
Daisy retorts with the fact she's here to help Leafpool
taking in what she said, Leafpool feels flustered by how Daisy just wants her to be happy and brings up how she's not even interested in a tom to get any help having kits with
without hesitation, Daisy asks if there's any she-cats she's interested in
surprised, Leafpool looks to Daisy and isn't sure that to say
Daisy misreads Leafpool's silence and states that it's okay for she-cats to like she-cats and toms to like toms and how those feelings are completely natural
and Leaf ends up having to interrupt her, assuring that she knows but that she didn't expect the question
Daisy prompts her to tell but Leafpool looks away
finally, Leafpool admits that she likes being around the fluffy cream-colored queen and that, if she ever wanted a mate, she wanted one like her
Daisy asks if the real thing would work just as well
Leafpool looks at the queen, unable to avoid purring, saying that she'd love to be with the real Daisy
the two become secret mates and Leafpool adopts / becomes the secret step mother of Berry, Mouse, and Hazel
this also makes Berry, Mouse, and Hazel The Three [Lion, Blaze, and Holly aren't born in this AU]
later on, with help from an unknown sire, Daisy has Toadstep and Rosepetal [she never reveals the sire nor does she reveal that Leafpool's her mate because queens don't have to reveal that info]
Ashfur eventually learns how close Leafpool and Daisy are and outs them publicly as being in an illegal relationship as revenge against Squirrelflight
he tries to get the two banished, but that doesn't end up working

Whether or not Dovewing's a good character is neither here nor there. She's not exactly my favourite character, and I don't think Tigerstar's a standup guy by any means, but you know what I do support? The personal agency of female characters. Same reason I support Squirrelflight getting with Bramblestar over Squirrelflight getting with Ashfur despite not thinking Bramble's great for her anyways, actually. Cause any guy who thinks its okay to pressure a girl into getting with him is awful and i'd rather she go with whatever jerk she chooses over some pushy creep she doesn't like. Bumblestripe tried to get with Dovewing repeatedly despite her numerous attempts to turn him down. Bumblestripe got their clanmates to join in on repeatedly harassing and pressuring Dovewing. I don't care if you like Dovewing, you can think she's the worst character all you want, quite frankly I don't like her enough to argue she's some great character overall, but she sure as hell still deserves agency in who she dates and doesn't for a second warrant the constant harassment and pressure Bumblestripe put on her because NOBODY deserves that kind of harassment. Consent is necessary in a relationship. That's knowing enthusiastic consent, not "everyone i've ever known or loved will be mad at me if I don't date you". Bumblestripe is a creep. Ashfur 2.0 but hopefully without the attempts at revenge. Suffocating and whiny and incapable of taking no for an answer. And i'm sure as hell gonna speak out in defense of Dovewing against people pissed at her for the high crime of not hooking up with a guy she doesn't like. Including Bumblestripe himself and everyone in their clan he got to badger Dovewing for moons about it.

Hawkfrost Is The Father Of The Three, And Ferncloud Raises Them With Dustpelt AU
Tumblr media
So
I don't ship these two, nor can I picture these two in any sort of healthy relationship because of just how bad Hawkfrost is
that being said
tw; manipulation, gr**ming and abuse
I'm also going to be combining it with this AU request cause they ended up feeling like they fit together
Tumblr media
During one of her visits to talk to Mothwing, Leafpaw comes face to face with Hawkfrost. She's very cautious about the tom, knowing his own sister doesn't trust him, but he comes off as charming and charismatic
She asks him politely not to tell on her being here and he responds with being rather flirty, assuring he'd never let such a cute she-cat get in trouble, flustering her and causing her to run off
Leafpaw in confused as she personally hasn't had any cat flirt with her, as everyone knows they're not supposed to with her being a medicine cat apprentice
She ends up getting more and more curious about this tom while her sister is off on her adventure with the chosen cats and takes to trying to casually watch him whenever she can, namely while gathering herbs near the border or soaking moss
He's quick to notice
One of the times while she's alone, he confronts her about watching her, saying if she wanted to see more of him, she could just ask She tries to object, shaking away these weirdly uncomfortable feelings, but he gives her a very affectionate lick before leaving, causing her even more confusion
Hawkfrost works hard to earn her positive favor, leaving little gifts such as herbs, prey, and other small things where he usually sees her. Leafpaw, unsure of what else to do, ends up accepting these gifts.
He also starts giving her these gifts in person, causing her to struggle with what she knew She trusts Mothwing, who says Hawkfrost has done bad things But Hawkfrost is showing he's not a bad cat after all
After some time, Hawkfrost starts making little comments, namely against the company Leafpaw usually kept when she wasn't alone "Sorreltail just tries to act like she's better than you by taking control of situations, huh?" "Cinderpelt really doesn't trust you to gather herbs alone?" "Brightheart seems to be more worried about her daughter than she does helping medicine cats, doesn't she?"
Over time Leafpaw is filled with more confusion and doubt and starts spending less and less time near camp Hawkfrost still visits her often and, after the chosen have come back, he starts getting more physically affectionate towards her, sharing tongues with her and having her cuddle with him
Leafpaw still has doubts but she's conflicted about them
On the journey to the lake, after this had been going on for some time, Leafpaw opens up to Squirrelpaw about what's been going on and Squirrelpaw immediately doesn't like or trust Hawkfrost, especially when Leafpaw expresses some doubts about him but is quick to excuse them
She brings Squirrelpaw's feelings up to Hawkfrost and he's quick to try to turn her against her sister, making her rather uncomfortable as she's sure her sister is the only cat she truly trusts
They get to the lake territories and Hawkfrost tries to convince Leafpaw to join RiverClan, but she declines, stating her family is in ThunderClan and that she doesn't want to leave them
Despite his pressuring and her unsure feelings, she does still visit him as often as she can, sneaking around territories because she doesn't have many cats to talk to since she dropped almost all her friendships for him
Leafpool and Squirrelflight have their full names when the in-fighting in WindClan gets worse
When the WindClan coup happens and Mudclaw states Hawkfrost as one who helped him and Leafpool quickly turns to Mothwing, whom she had been hanging out with less and less, and asks her if this is true
Mothwing, though rightfully hurt by Leafpool leaving her alone, confirms the ThunderClan she-cat's fears and Leafpool goes to confront Hawkfrost
Hawkfrost tries denying at first and even tries to brush it off and be casual as he tries to show her more physical affection, but she hisses at him and demands the truth
There's a long bit where he dodges the truth, before he gives up trying to be nice and tells her, bluntly, that Tigerstar had told him to 'get her out of the picture' by any means And he was 'trying to be nice' and not kill her, since Mothwing liked her, and then blames her for 'what happens next' and attacks Leafpool
Thankfully Squirrelflight caught wind, thanks to Mothwing, and comes to her sister's rescue, attacking the tom and running off with a wounded Leafpool by her side
Leafpool is in shock and sick to her stomach with what Hawkfrost said and did She tells her sister everything, including that she was still seeing him after Squirrelflight told her to stop and how he wanted her to no longer talk to Squilf and join RiverClan.
When the two bring this to Brambleclaw, the tom is skeptical and doesn't trust what they're saying, and when he brings this up to Hawkfrost, he's less clear about how to feel.
Hawkfrost's death goes down the same as canon.
Leafpool finds out she's pregnant and is horrified, as she knows that the only option of the father is her abuser
Squirrelflight, despite being single [as Brambleclaw's dismissal of her sister's abuse and Ashfur's babying of her pushed her away from both toms], insists on helping her as she's worried for Leafpool
There is a lot of debate and the two end up accidentally being overheard by Ferncloud. She doesn't ask questions, seeing the distressed look on Leafpool's face and simply states that she'll adopt the kits as if they were her own. She even manages to convince her mate, Dustpelt, to agree, though he thinks he's adopting Squirrelflight's kits and not the halfClan kits of a medicine cat as Ferncloud is aware it would've been harder to talk him into it otherwise
Three kits are born in secret - a brown and white tabby tom, a tortoiseshell tabby she-cat, and a mostly white tom with brown patches. Ferncloud names the first on Finchkit, Squirrelflight names the second one Hollykit, and Leafpool names the last one Lionkit hoping the tom will be strong enough to outlive his unfortunate circumstances. In this AU Icekit and Foxkit are born a couple moon earlier than they were in canon and are a couple days younger than the Three.
They bring the kits home and Dustpelt immediately dotes over the five of them, not even caring which ones might be Squirrelflight's and which ones might be his. He doesn't even tell any of the kits otherwise. To him they are his five wonderful kits.
Ferncloud and Dustpelt are wonderful parents to the kits, Dustpelt teaching them the importance of tradition while Ferncloud teaches them to care about others
TPoT goes through canon somewhat normally, aside from Finchpaw being confused on why he was able to see a prophecy about Firestar's kin when he isn't related at all to Firestar. However, once Lionpaw is training in the Dark Forest, he is confused when Hawkfrost refers to Lion, Finch, and Holly as his kits
Hawkfrost reveals the secret, wanting Lionpaw to know that the Clan isn't being entirely truthful.
Lionpaw isn't sure how to feel about this
He confronts Ferncloud and Dustpelt. Dustpelt is shocked to hear Leafpool's name, but there's only a minor argument about lying with a promise to be truthful in the future, as Ferncloud admits it's not her story to tell and he understands.
Lionpaw, Finchpaw, and Hollypaw are taken with Dustpelt to talk to Leafpool, where she opens up about the abuse she faced at Hawkfrost's paws and how he used her. Dustpelt, who came in angry, is more understanding at the end as he remembers how Tigerstar, Hawkfrost's father, hurt his brother, Ravenpaw to the point of running away
The apprentices are confused, asking if she wanted them, and she assured it had nothing to do with them and more to do with the tom that sired them
When Lionpaw expresses anger towards Leafpool, Dustpelt scolds him, telling the tom that the hardest thing for a queen to do is give up kits and telling him that it was brave for Leafpool
Lionpaw confronts Hawkfrost and is lied to and the apprentice storms off, not wanting to hear it once the Dark Forest warrior starts bad-talking Ferncloud and Dustpelt
Hollypaw struggles with the news, as she was raised that medicine cats should never have kits, but her father is being forgiving of this on exception She ends up talking with Ferncloud about it and gaining an understanding that things happen out of anther cat's control and they can't help it
Finchpaw and Leafpool come to an agreement that he doesn't have to think of her as his mother and that Ferncloud was the one who raised and cared for him better than she could He still knows, but he accepts that he was adopted and is alright with that, as it gave him a family he needed
This is as far as I got mentally with this, but there's no big secret, though Ashfur being a problem can probably still be a plot or something
idk
a lot of these plots revolve around TPoT, so there's only so much new I can add dsakhf
