6. What’s the worst thing about the fandom? I love how there's even the smallest sliver of opportunity for me to salt with this meme, and I latch onto it with both hands, supergluing myself to said chance. Any way, you asked, so here I go with the 'worst thing': the very high level of M/M fetishizing done not by Hoyo, but by its own audience; and not once, not twice, but with pretty much every single release of a male character (and hold my hand when two of them are released simultaneously). Perhaps I'm an odd one out here, but when the first reactions to male characters consist of 'omg I'm drooling, he's so hot' or immediate considerations of which other male character they'd like to see bone him, I can't help but lose a little bit of respect. And yes, I am referring to instances similar to Dr. Veritas Ratio in the bathtub, and Aventurine in his morning artwork.

And I have to draw this back to the female character sexualization thing for a second, because while yes, female characters are also sexualized, it is in a vastly different way and I'll be really honest, those tags are not half as full or bad as the M/M ones (and thankfully so at this point), nor do I have to read about how badly people are hungry to see x pound y into a mattress or wall with whatever additions. I just don't see it, and I've tried to find it for the hell of it to see whether I'm wrong, and so far? Outside of the quite graphically heavy NSFW AI-generated things that are often relegated to equally as AI-infested art databases: nothing's proved to me that I am, indeed, really wrong on this. On top of that, I can genuinely say that having written exclusively female muses within this fandom (and having exclusively written male muses in previous fandoms for years), I have not needed to build sky-high walls around them to keep myself far away from ship and subsequent NSFW thread-fishing. And honestly? I'm glad for it. I'm glad not to see tags filled with sexualizations, and I'm really glad to not have to always see rather uh, brutal and/or intense graphic drawings on X of what people want these characters to do to each other. Honestly, I'm kinda glad I don't have to see that level of hand-drawn thirsting when I go into the Kafka tag. I don't want to condemn artists for making art, but I will sometimes go 'why is this what you decide to draw within 48 hours of two male characters being released'? You know? I want to go more into this, but I may just... reblog a little salt meme for that instead. Let's not dump everything in the answer to an ask that's supposed to be innocent!

((Honestly, all the muses on this blog are minor characters, which means that canon gives us just enough for me to go ham with the rest of it and flesh them out more.

It's harder to do that with more major characters since, most times, their characterization is set in stone. I love the freedom that minor characters give me in canon, if that makes sense!))

((I'm not going to lie: I do not have any songs picked out for those three, per sey; all the ones I associate with them do not fully describe my characters in a way I find fitting. At best the songs only describe them partially.

For Andrealphus I'm going to go with pretty much any song in Camus's (Uta no Prince Sama) library, but specifically Zettai Rondo Emotion. I chose this one because the lyrics point to a struggle with understanding emotions and feelings, namely romance/love due to having a cold heart for so long. I feel like this inability to truly tap into one's emotions fits Andre to a tee.

Now there is much more to the song than just this theme, and honestly this, and Camus's other songs better fit a romantic shipping context (Eg. Icyago (Vassago/Andrealphus)) than the character himself. Also the mun is obsessed with UtaPri, so there's that bias.

For Octavia, it's less of a song and more of an instrumental OST track from the game Okami. The one I chose here is Kaguya's Theme. It's beautiful, but also carries sadness in that Kaguya is alone and searching for her home, or the place she truly belongs. I feel this suits Octavia because everything she knows, including her home, is being destroyed, and she is seeking some sort of stability and home that has been ripped away from her, not unlike Kaguya herself.

For context: Kaguya in Okami is the princess of the Moon Tribe; a race of supernatural beings that lived on the Moon until Yami obliterated them in a genocide, leaving only two alive. Kaguya survived due to being sent to Earth, specifically Nippon where she was adopted by the Bamboo Cutter and his wife. She eventually finds the ship she was found in and returns to the moon.

For Dawn I'm going to go with Moon Flower from Sailor Moon Eternal. I chose this because I feel like Dawn gives off magical girl vibes, but also a strong resolve to fight whatever comes her way, especially if it's to protect those she loves and cares about.

5. What’s the best thing about the fandom?

Uhhhh... hard one to answer 'cos I don't really engage in the fandom often lol. I think on my main blog, I follow only one (1) other Tekken blog. I guess I really like the fan content - especially the cosmetic mods for Tek8, and the fanart. Good stuff! Though, I guess I will say that the fandom peeps that follow me are also very awesome. I used to argue with a lotta ppl on the sub reddit, but the ppl here are understanding and epic. The Jin Support Club ✊

6. What’s the worst thing about the fandom?

A lot lol. I guess the worst thing is just ... the way a lotta fans criticize Jin. I swear, a lotta my arguments on Reddit was just concerning Jin's character because people either don't understand him (SO MANY were saying he "cared for nobody" prior Tek8's release) or they just bring up Tekken 6. What is so frustrating about the latter is that say, let's look at another fandom - as bad as ppl wanna say the Star Wars fandom is, they understand when a character's actions are uncharacteristic and when to reject this. Like almost the ENTIRE FANDOM can agree that Luke was written terribly out of character in The Last Jedi, and they can agree that the dude trying to redeem his father wouldn't try to kill his nephew because of "bad dreams". Hardly anybody argues about that or tries to insist on Luke being a Bad Jedi because of his actions in Last Jedi. In fact, most people still fondly look at Luke because they think of the first three movies he was in. YET, with the Tekken fandom... the fandom is just INCAPABLE of doing this and it's really weird. It's almost as if they see these characters as real lol. Like whereas the majority of Star Wars fans won't bring up Last Jedi when discussing Luke's character, the majority of the Tekken fandom WILL bring up Tekken 6 when discussing Jin's. Like you can't even fondly talk about Jin without sb saying "BUT THE WAR! ☝️🤓" Like even when you DO point out it's bad writing, they'll say "well he still did it! we can't ignore it! 😊" Maybe not entirely but... you can still acknowledge the writing goes against Jin's character, and it's something his character wouldn't have done if he remained in character with competent writers / no director meddling.

7. What’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?

Hmm... is this pertaining to Jin only, or the lore as a whole? Idk really how to answer this because I've already discussed how much I love Jin and why I love him. I'd say I found the devil gene concept extremely interesting, more interesting than the other "evil" curses fighting games do. Buuuut... the devil genes been totally whacked up by retcons, I'm not sure if I can say that either. The prob is, Tekken canon is so frickin LOOSE, it's hard to even pick a favorite thing about it haha. Like I say somethin and it's like "ooh... that's no longer canon..." Even when I talk about Jin's portrayal, it's like "ooh... yeah... but that was ruined momentarily..." Other than what I said when talking about why I started writing Jin, I dunno how to answer this one!! Maybe I'll go back to this when I come up with somethin'... I feel kinda awkward now. xD But LIKE, I love the Tekken story. But I already stated how I like the cast, why I love Jin, the game's fun. And... yeah!

8. What’s the worst thing about the canon you are writing?

The inconsistencies. Like I understand some retcons, especially if they're really needed. But like... Tekken does retcons EVERY game it seems, and then they're just... stuff that didn't need to be retconned in the first place. I've already went into great detail about how sloppy and confusing the devil gene lore is. But like here's another example - this is a minor and UNNECESSARY retcon. It was Lee who fixed up Alisa and gave her her freedom or whatever. But in her TK8 bio, it says it was Dr. B / her father...? What? Like I get that they maybe wanted Alisa to bond more with her father / creator. But like... couldn't they do that in another way? People say this is minor, but the problem is when the game is filled with many retcons - then when ppl are trying to learn about the lore, ppl are gonna get several different answers. "Lee fixed Alisa" "No it was Dr. B." See? That's just frustrating. Same with how the Tek Wiki still calls Devil Kazuya Devil Jin's "other half", even though I strongly feel that's been retconned long ago. The lore is confusing as hell with all these constant changes.

I’m not sure I’ve read a Lilith fic before, I usually stuck to fic about the kids. Wouldn’t be opposed, I could be here for Lilith/Zelda for example.

I love that this like… almost makes sense? Sabrina/Harvey as endgame cracked me up. I would name this fic “long story short” after the Taylor Swift song. I wouldn’t make anyone write or read it though.

Don’t have to imagine, Ambrose/Prudence remains iconic. Probably ended up being one of my favorite relationships on the show.

What if Roz wanted to deflower Prudence? Seems… improbable lol. Maybe Roz could be the first person Prudence has sex with where she actually has feelings? I think Roz would be very respectful and Prudence would be a little standoffish but then melt. Of course there’d be some world-ending drama that would force them to work together, which would get them talking and Roz would see past Prudence’s prickly shell.

01. Introduce yourself! When did you first watch Escaflowne? What brought you into the fold?

I already shared part of my experience in this post, so I'm gonna expand on that.

I was young and naive and in Junior High. There was an open tv channel that broadcasted anime shows all evening. One of them was Escaflowne, and I liked it, I mean, it's medieval! With robots! And swords! And the robots wear capes! But I wasn't a fan.

I saw the movie until I was in college and I loved it.

Years later, I always attempted to watch the series, because I thought I never watched it complete (and I never passed from the first episode in those tries). In 2021 I finally watched the entire series again… I didn't remember a thing hahaha and I discovered that I had actually seen it completely before because the only things I recalled were the "Aoi Hitomi" song and that Dilandau was a woman (and I spent the entire time looking for the womanly clues on Dilandau, with no success).

But you know, I really really loved the movie but I forgot how much I did it, it took some effort on my part to remember… hell, I even had magazine clippings in my room (still there) and used to draw Van and Hitomi, but all that is still lost in my mind and from the world (I rescued a drawing, not the great thing).

So here I am.

I already had a tumblr account but I guess due to inactivity I couldn't use the tags, so I better started anew.

02. Who is your favorite character and why? Was it love at first sight? Has any of their qualities or quirks swayed you on characters in other series?

Van. The guy grew on me after my second watch, it's easy to sympathise with him.

03. Which side are you on? What do you think happens Post-Hitomi when she leaves? Who do you think will be the next opposing power?

This is fanfic area, but I think Basram would get everyone in trouble if not kept in check. Zaibach could resurface years later, too. Or, you know, Hitomi returns and starts a fight :P

04. Least favorite plot point? Was there something you think should have changed? What do you think would have made it better.

I found Millerna and Dryden's love story boring (because there's none?). Van's wings are too corny (lol) What's up with Varie? I'd have liked to see more about the war. Escaflowne's customer service was ridiculous hahaha I had to pause when Folken performed the "let's make Hitomi and Allen a couple" mission.

Movie: I wanted to know more about... everything.

05. OTP? What kind of art and fiction would you like to see? What are some head canons you have for them? What is you NoTP?

Every question is like 10 questions lol This one is pretty obvious: Hitomi x Van of course. If you drop Folken in there I won't mind (not sure if Van or Hitomi would agree though). I like to read so I find fanfics very entertaining and comfy. I like art too so fanarts are welcome. Alright my headcanon is… Hitomi comes back to Gaea, finds her place in there, marries Van of course, and the whole planet is in peace.

NoTP: Van and Dilandau. Van/Hitomi x OC (unless you convince me).

06. What would you like to see in a figurative remake/sequel? Would you include more minor characters? Would you want a whole new story that could be a stand alone?

I've lived long enough to see failed sequels shit on a perfect story so I'd go for standalone story or a backstory, like Goau's life, Varie's story, Moleman's, Leon's adventures, and so on.

07. Movie, Series, Game, or Manga preference? What are things you did/didnt like of each?

I love the movie, I love everything about it except for it to be so short, unable to expand on the new universe they built.

The series is great, we'll always wonder what would Escaflowne be if only they got all the episodes they needed and didn't have to pack everything in 26 episodes. A monumental work.

Everything else is meh to me. I've read both mangas and watched the extra scenes of the videogame. I haven't read the LNs for obvious reasons.

08. Do your favorite impression! Bonus points if you can do a conversation with a scene cut in!

09. What do you think about the idea of a re-dub? What are your feelings about the current cast selection for Van (and others if more are introduced)?

I haven't seen the english dub but I've seen the latino one. I wouldn't mind a re-dub, even if I feel that nowadays actors lack heart. Van's VA, Jesús Becerro, died some years ago so I'd prefer to watch it like it is for nostalgia's sake.

As for the japanese cast… it's perfect, period.

I love Maaya Sakamoto's voice (Hitomi), a shame I don't like her music. Tomokazu Seki (Van) surprised me, he's also Kougami's VA in Psycho-Pass (I love his voice in PP) and I didn't notice until certain line he said reminded me of some other character (Gilgamesh).

3. Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole?

there are a lot of tropes I fundamentally dislike. soulmate stuff, for one. anything that would require me to write a sex scene, for another. I'm not really into modern AUs either--I don't really see the appeal of putting the characters into a completely different setting divorced from the canon material. if I wanted to write that I would just write my own book.

9. Which fic has been the hardest to write?

well at this moment, race con, because it's the one I'm currently writing, the plot is insane, and it's still over 200k from finishing and I would like to have it in a form that's ready to start posting by may 4th next year. writing is an endurance sport etc

14. What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

I'll be real I don't remember most of the bad writing advice I come across because I immediately throw that shit out the window. But I feel like most advice I've gotten about characters and character building has been bad. people who have followed this blog long enough know that I think characterization is a scam and all those "get to know your character" questionnaires of like are they neat or messy or what's their favorite color or drink and whatever is pointless. I don't care what protagonist man (gender neutral) likes to wear on the weekends. I'll come up with that answer if it's relevant to the story. all I care about from the outset is what they're trying to accomplish and what they're willing to do it and like. maybe one or two adjectives to have a starting point for what they do?

I do remember at some point reading an absolute dogshit take on chekhov's gun somewhere on tumblr that was like "having the gun on the mantelpiece and being forced to use it is bad story design it forces you to telegraph what you're going to do" or something (it's been some years since I saw this post) and like. the point of chekhov's gun is that if you have a gun go off in the second act, it had better come from somewhere that was shown in the first act (instead of from out of the character's ass) and also if you make a big deal out of something in the first act, you have some responsibility as a writer to follow through in the second act or you're just wasting everyone's time. the thing is, not everything is chekhov's gun, and readers won't be able to know what's what until the second act.

I also remember at some point reading a tumblr post that was like "all stories need to have a character arc" which is just. wrong. because not all stories are about character growth/devolution. sometimes stories are about things the characters are doing. I'm not going to say that philip marlowe really has much character growth from start to end and he doesn't need it because he's a detective and the problem he's trying to solve is trying to figure out what's everyone else's problem. there's nothing wrong with him being a static character, and saying that all stories need a character arc is kind of misunderstanding the nature of conflicts in a story.

Answering both of these at the same time because really, it's all the same story. In the middle of 2020, a lot of changes happened for me rp-wise. I dropped Marceline, my longest-standing character in the group; a lot of the characters my remaining character, Brooke Page, adored also dropped, leaving her muse feeling very alone; I tried to pick D&D back up and for various reasons it didn't work out then. I really, really needed a new hyperfixation, and a new RP muse to try, because at the moment what I had one on was my crossover ship for Brooke, and my friend who rped her boyfriend had unfortunately lost muse for him and dropped.

And that's about when I found out about the Grom episode of The Owl House, and I decided I could roll with this show that seemed to be going Gay on Disney-Main. I binged what there was at the time (I think YBOS had recently aired, so I had all of season 1 waiting for me), and I fell in love with Luz and Amity. And it was kind of between the two of them, who I'd end up picking for a muse, and I decided Luz was more my speed. And now I'm like *spider-man meme me and luz pointing at each other* because wow i relate to this kid so much.

20--If you could sum up your character with one sentence, what would it be?

Luz has spent so long being the person who extends the hand out to help others, that she has no idea how to be the person who accepts a hand reaching out to help her in return.

How long have you had your writing tumblr/writeblr? A fast and loose estimate is fine!

I think I've been here for about three months now.

What led you to create it?

I uploaded my first book, Verum I: The Awakening on AO3, Wattpad and Inkitt earlier this year. Sadly (though not surprising) it didn't do well, still doesn't. So I figured Tumblr might be the best place to advertise it. One of my mutuals read it! 

What's your favourite thing about the writeblr community?

Some of the tag games are really fun!

What's one thing you’d like your mutuals to know about you?

I have never learned how to make friends as a child. I'm always trying to make friends, to interact with people (irl and internet), but I just can't figure out how to do it. I always see other people becoming friends, happy to see/hear from each other. I try to have that too, I've been trying my entire life, but it just doesn't work. So please just interact with me. Tell me anything about you, about what you love, about what bothers you! I'm just happy to listen and will be very glad that somebody is talking directly to me. Please talk with me. I'm genuinely getting worried about my mental health.

Is there anything you’d like to see more of on your dash?

I don't browse all that much here, but I'm always happy to see some writer memes on my dashboard.

Which wips or writing projects are you noodling about, lately?

Noodling is a new word to me. I hope I understood this question right

My only WIP is Verum II: The Robotic Era. I think about it all the time. Having fun with my characters, doing absolutely non-canonical shit with them, but also thinking about the plot and world building. 

How long have you been working on them?

I've been working on TRE since the first or second of April 2024. That's when I began writing the first part.

Do you remember what inspired them/what got you started?

Verum was entirely inspired by science. I'm a nerd.

How much time, in your best estimation, do you spend thinking about them?

Everyday, all the time, whenever something else isn't occupying my mind. 

When someone asks the dreaded, “what do you write about,” question, what do you usually say?

I say “Science Fiction”, if they wanna know a little more I continue with something like “It's about robots and aliens and sometimes they go on missions to save robots, because they are trapped”. I always sound like I have no idea what my story is about, because I can't explain that it's filled with violence, gore and death. Can't mention that in front of family, bosses and especially not in front of therapists, lol.

Name any characters you created. side characters, protagonists, antagonists, characters who’ve never been written, the first original abomination you ever pulled from your ass; whomever you’d like!

Next to Luce, there were supposed to be two other female main characters. Verum was originally supposed to be Sci Fi Fantasy, but I took all fantasy elements out.

Kerlith: She is a demon from hell and one of many protectors of humanity. In the school project (the thing that started this whole project), she arrived on earth with a fleet of ghost pirates to join the main group.

I do have another idea for a book in which she could appear. It’s about angels trying to destroy humanity, but the robots they (humanity) built eons ago protect them without their knowledge. They live in a simulated reality, where everything is perfect. The demons would be allied with the robots. 

Lilian: She is the other scrapped main character. She's got spiritual superpowers and is friends with monsters. They would try to help humanity.

Now some characters that ARE gonna appear in the Verum series.

Ship AI: There's gonna be a fourth lover for the three lovey doveys that are Luce, Bluctro and Dethra. He doesn't have a name yet, but he's gonna be the AI of the big ass spaceship of Luce, Dethra and Bluctro. He's not gonna appear for a long time though.

Alien fish lady: She's gonna be the girlfriend of a human woman. Because why does my lesbian coded ass not have lesbians in the story, huh?

Isdod: Said human lady's placeholder name is Isdod. She slaughtered a bunch of Tapzians (enemy alien species) after she got abducted. Then she became a famous biologist.

There are more, but that's enough for now.

Who's the most unhinged?

Dethra. It's absolutely Dethra. The nice killer robot who loves to slaughter the bad guys.

Who comes the most naturally for you to write?

Hell Idk. Writing different personalities is difficult for me.

Do you ever cringe at them?

I cringe at all of them, but especially at myself.

How much control do you feel you have over your characters? do they ever “write themselves,” refuse to cooperate, or do things you didn’t expect? To what degree? Are some less cooperative than others?

They do seem to do what they want to do sometimes. Bluctro is a great example! He was meant to be killed off, but then he said nuh uh and joined the mains. Fucking asshole.

Do you enjoy people asking questions about your characters? and do you have a preferred means of receiving said questions? for example, as asks, as replies, as reblogs, as tag notes, as comments on ao3, etc.

What makes you want to follow another writeblr account? Do you follow ‘em as you see ‘em, or take time scoping out the blog to make sure you align with its content? Do you follow based on wips, or vibes?

I only follow writer blogs. So yes, I do check out the blog for a moment.

What makes you decide against following?

If it's not a writer blog, I won't follow. 

Do you interact with non-mutuals often?

I don't care who I interact with. Why wouldn't I want to interact with non-mutuals too?

Do your mutuals’ characters occupy space in your noodle?

I personally don't have a noodle in which I put other's characters, but I certainly could. Though noodles are rather small and don't have a big hole, so the character would have to be even smaller! I'd gladly hang a filled noodle up on my wall though.

Canon Questionnaire

7. What’s the best thing about the canon you are writing?

If we're talking about DMTNT specifically, it's definitely Henry and Carina and I feel like that would be both my subjective but also the objective correct answer. I'm biased toward him, obviously, but I really love her as well. I think they're both really interesting as legacy characters, and largely well executed in and of themselves. They're faceted, they have solid motivation and individual but complementary skill sets, they're sympathetic, and easy to root for. The romance is a pretty clumsy and lackluster, which is a shame because the potential for something great is there. I live every day of my life in complete shock that there's not more affection for them. Like lack of affection for the movie I get but for them, specifically... crazy to me how many people just write them off completely. Or are just blatantly wrong about them because they chose to ignore them in favor of just deciding there was nothing of value at all. So so so sad, so very much their loss. There's babies in this this dumpster fire (which, just to be perfectly clear, I do also love the dumpster fire. I just also acknowledge it's a dumpster fire.)--

-- aaaaaaaaand it's at this point I checked the meme and realized this means. Canon character. And not canon property, because the franchise/property is what question 3 asks about. I'm leaving it though but here's the..real answer to the question it's actually asking:

Best thing about Henry is that like... that he is Henry T.urner. I think is that someone went "actually he needs to be their kid" is the best thing about him, the best move they made at any point in the creation of this movie. This is a mildly controversial take, I know, but I think tying it back was much smarter than continuing to ignore that the previous movies centered on Elizabeth and Will. I actually also like On Stranger Tides but do think it feels like.. an offshoot as opposed to main chapter, because it's so removed from the literal and metaphorical heart of the trilogy. And yes Henry's connection is so last second, and clumsy as all hell story wise there's plenty of places they fumbled with it, but just the fact that they landed with him at all is SO the right move. I would have liked him as 'Henry Maddox', I think, but would not have loved him. So that they took that and went, 'make him a Turner' and then added that bit of context to that steady, lively, warm character... 10/10. Rounded him out, brought him forward- brought him to life. Best.

Without bringing the behind the scenes stuff into it and just as a character, I think his best thing is his devotion to his people. Yes this is also a flaw but I think it's his best thing. It's, like I said while answering this question incorrectly, a very sympathetic thing. And a very sympathetic thing taken to extremes, befitting the exaggerated reality he lives in. And I guess I am gonna get meta with this answer after all but it suits him and it suits his world, especially with the way they leaned into the ghost stuff and backed off of the imperialism. He's a very storybook kind of character, exaggerated in certain ways, for a very storybook world and specifically fantastical movie. I guess this is really the same answer again in a way isn't I just think! he was the best move for this movie!!

12. What would you say is the most unique trait about your character?

In many ways he's actually very... not the modern blockbuster protagonist of the 2010s? He's got a few of the markers (a bit quippy, happy to use his fists to solve his problems, very pretty to look at) but also a bunch of behaviors you don't necessarily see like: he spends the first act specifically seeking out help rather than insisting on lone-wolfing his way through the world, his acts of bravery are genuine and sometimes counter-intuitive to his (ultimately selfish) cause, and while he is sort of the rallying party who brings several of the others together, when it comes to leading the actual quest, he defers to Carina as soon as it's obvious she has a much more concrete grasp on the specifics of what they need to do. He's an action/adventure protagonist but with all these blatant soft poke-able places and I think that stands out from both the hyper-masculine-but-ironic-and-self-aware-about-it hero and the scrawny-status-quo-challenging-underdog that dominated the pg-13 box office at the time (and arguably still). He's not an "I'm one of the idiots who lives here" snarker and he's not a "everything about how we live our lives is backwards" chosen one, just honestly and for fun and with genuine affection for the movies that came before, a legacy character who wants his parents to get their damn happily ever after. It's very.. simple? Early thousands straight-to-dvd-sequel ass concept, without the forced I'm-not-like-you conflict. And I love him for it. Thank you. mwah mwah i kiss his head.

Then there's also... and I will try not to expound on this too much but in terms of the franchise itself he's very certain in a way a lot of the other protagonist (and deuteragonist) characters in the franchise are not. A lot of them waver on their wants, and have entire moral or religious or mortality-based quandaries in the background while all the ghosts and gods carry on, meanwhile Henry is just. Dead set on what he wants and that this is also the Right thing. Not a lick of doubt. Cannot be convinced he's wrong, cannot be turned away by interference, cannot be intimidated into backing down, and is going to see it through. And do it all so straightforwardly as well— he doesn't plot, or scheme, or seduce, he just. Runs right at it. Wild thing to do in the everyone-is-playing-each-other-for-their-own-gain franchise.

Which song do you feel describes your character the most and why?

yoasobi's idol is quite literally made for her, there was even a side story written by aka akasaka to go along with it as well -- but for the sake of the meme i'm not going to include THAT as the main answer, as that'd be way too easy, lol.

so the song that i'd probably go with in this case would be britney spear's lucky. i go with this song because it's - ultimately - a song about a woman that has it all on the outside ; fame, popularity... prestige... but is lonely and unhappy on the inside... much like ai.

ai was always someone that put her best foot forward - but it was always an act. a fabrication, a lie. all she ever wanted was for someone that she could let in truly, someone she could love.

someone that could give her the happiness that she always wanted, but could never have. there was a time when ruby and aqua's father made her feel that way, but it ultimately wasn't until ruby and aqua were born that she was able to give genuine feelings.

...even if she hadn't told them that she loved them until she died but, that's neither here nor there. i guess.

This is going into movie spoiler territory and an unpopular opinion but I just can’t stand U.ta from O.ne P.iece F.ilm R.ed. Not only does she messes up on S.hanks and L.uffy’s time together, she’s a stuck up brat who gets upset when things don’t go her way. With the way everyone treated her ( besides L.uffy who could see past her bullshit ) with princess gloves, no wonder she was out of touch with reality. 

And her trying to kill her childhood friend and his crew when they wanted to leave? Publicly humiliating L.uffy in a crowd with both the chicken eating contest and the sea water, not to mention the recreation of the R.oger execution. R.ipping the straw hat over really nothing. Yeah. Miss me with that bullshit. I mean, even her existence makes S.hanks look like a bad dad and not a great person either, which even L.uffy claims is something S.hanks wouldn’t do, as he left her on the island that killed everybody and didn’t show up until it was almost too late. Like I get he’s a pirate but he had time to screw around with M.ihawk, why not spend time to visit the island? Leaving her with G.ordon seemed like a dumb idea on everyone’s part.

Also, U.ta feels like an terrible written fanfiction character, being all powerful with a basically OP devil fruit, L.uffy’s best friend, and S.hank’s daughter. I know O.da was trying to create a villain that wasn’t some old buff guy but making a V-tuber / Pop Idol was not really the way to go. And now she’s canon and retracts from the stuff I enjoyed reading between a surrogate father figure and the main character. It just doesn’t seem special anymore. Not with ‘P..RINCESS U.TA’ inserted in there anyways. Also most of her fans besides a select few make me dislike the character even more saying she did nothing wrong. Like hello? She was the villain here.

Hopefully she is not around in the manga too much and sticks to being dead. Also, there are other characters that I can’t stand but they are the ones mostly everyone else doesn’t like. For example, A.kainu, the C.elestial Dragons, S.telly ( G.oa Kingdom guy ) and others.
