A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF: I just finished grad school last month and I now (almost officially) have a Master's degree in Library and Information Science! (AKA an MLIS) I've been trying to get to this degree since spring of 2021 and that's been almost the entire time I've had Luz in this group (tho not without a few breaks here and there for my mental health)

My goal this year is to read as many of the books I've tossed onto my TBR over the last 3ish years as possible. I used to be one of those kids who could sit and read an entire book in an afternoon, but of course various things changed that part of me, not the least of which being my final discovery of my ADHD.

I love dressing up, both normally and also in a cosplay sense. I want to come up with a new costume for C2E2 this year but I have yet to come up with something I want to try. I love cosplaying so much, and I love wearing pretty dresses and have kind of made a reputation for myself at my library for my taste in clothes.

I'm on bsky! I also do still have a twitter I still peek in on every so often, but I'm mostly on the butterfly app these days. Finally, I'm happy to share my discord with those who want it ❤️

Luz sat with Stringbean perched beside her at a table, an open bag of chips between them as they shared a snack. Were sweet potato chips healthy for a palisman? Hard to say, but Stringbean was loving the treat just as much as Luz, so she figured it was probably okay.

The flash of movement stilled the two of them for a moment. Luz peeked at Stringbean, finding she was already chomping away at another chip, and Luz laughed the incident off with a wave of her hand.

"No worries! Sometimes our buddies want snacks and haven't figured out that they have to ask first." Luz pulled a chip from the bag and held it up in the direction of the woman and her li'l dragon.

"Close! She's a snake shifter. Technically, Stringbean's my palisman, but that'll take a bit to explain." She shrugged with another laugh. "I'm Luz, and I love your li'l dragon!"

"Ah! Hey!" Lilli reaches out, grabbing Applejack mid-dive and holding him up over her head with well-practiced ease. The dragonet looks longingly at the girl's chip bag, and Lilli sighs. Bringing him down to eye level, she tries to give him a stern glare, but he sticks his tongue out; she can't stay mad. Damn it.

"Sorry about that, kid, he's got a bad habit of sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. I hope he didn't startle you, or your..." she blinks, looking at the creature on the girl's shoulder.

"...ssssnake...?" Is that what it is?.

Luz encouraged Stringbean to duck into the hood of her coat, hoping to keep her a surprise until after she'd surprised Lloyd with her presence alone. Her palisman safely tucked away, Luz wasted no time in busting through the door of the forge.

"Llooooooyd! Hello, you in here?!" she called out, already unzipping her coat, though not removing it just yet--that would defeat the purpose of Stringbean's hiding place! "I'm back and I need a hug, now!"

"I can tell I wasn't like, gone that long, but it's still so weird for the last thing I remember here to be barely-fall weather and Halloween was still on the horizon, and now there's scattered snow and it's almost Christmas."

Luz shook her head with a laugh, and Stringbean slid down Luz's arm and perked her head up with curious eyes at the stranger.

"Oh, remember my egg I took around everywhere with me? My baby hatched! This is Stringbean, and she's the best palisman I could have ever hoped for."

Eda hadn't been in the house when Luz had arrived back, and so she intended to go hunt for her mentor. Luz had just opened the (still Hooty-less, for better or worse) front door, when she came face to face with the witch herself.

Luz instantly brightened, lunging forward to wrap her arms around Eda.

"Eda! I'm back! I'm so happy to see you again, you have no idea--oh! And I have a new friend for you to meet!"

Stringbean knows her cue, and she peeks out above Luz's head with a gentle flick of her forked tongue.

Hey Hi Howdy Friends! Luz wants so very much to introduce everyone to her baby, ESPECIALLY her close friends and family! So, this is going to be a starter call for existing relationships to meet Stringbean! I'm gonna tentatively cap it at 3 for now, so I don't overwhelm myself.

I'm also going to make an open before the weekend is over, so that others interested can reply to that if they'd like! Otherwise, feel free to DM/Ask/Discord me if you'd really like to do something with luz and stringbean!

One of the first things Luz had done upon return was to check who was still around; it had been barely autumn before, and now it was already December. Not much time had passed, and yet so much can happen in just a few months--she knew this first-hand.

Finding Hunter's name in her contacts, still bearing all the dumb emojis and all their text history, was more than a relief to her. She didn't even consider texting him, and instead immediately made her way in the direction of his usual haunts.

It wasn't until she came upon him that it occurred to her that he'd be unchanged from the Hunter she'd just left behind. The one who'd just experienced an unimaginable loss... and who'd just nearly died himself.

But there, perched on her brother's shoulder, was Flapjack, both he and Hunter safe and unharmed, still free from Belos' selfishness.

Stringbean nudges Luz's chin from her own perch around Luz's neck, her forked tongue tickling her skin and grounding her. Luz raised her hand to gently scritch Stringbean's ears before she took a deep breath, readying herself.

"H-Hunter! I'm back! A-and I've got a surprise for you!"

"I--oh!"

Luz glanced around. She was back. The knowledge of that didn't suddenly hit her, or wash over her, or anything dramatic like that. She simply blinked, and recognized her surroundings as the Spirowl House.

It felt like... like she had been gone for ages. She was a different Luz now than she'd been the last time she was here. However, when she glanced at her cell phone, she noticed that not much time had passed at all since she'd 'left'.

The gentle nudge and tickle at her ear was something she'd grown used to in such a short amount of time, and she turned with an excited grin to the sweet face of Stringbean, pulling her in for a kiss and hug.

"Oh, Stringbean, you came with me! I'm so happy you're here, too!" One more kiss to her forehead, and Luz makes her way for the door, Stringbean hitching a ride on her shoulder. "Come on, let's go see who's around. I can't wait to introduce you to everyone, baby!"

I've changed her canon point from last time, and due to that she now has her palisman, which probably qualifies for the Pets change that was added this year. "Dang. RIP to that guy, I guess." This felt like those old mystery cartoons with the dog, where they chased the monster through a hallway of doors.

"Yup, that's how they do it here. Get used to it, bucko." She reaches to pat his shoulder twice.

｢𓆄｣ "Haha, wow! They really expect us to go back to daily living after throwing us through literal hell? Yeah, no, makes total sense! I don't get why you'd do it any other way." Everybody's so creative!

Luz glowed almost as much as her light spell, pride emanating from her grin as Oliver watched her orbs of light in awe.

"Go ahead! They won't hurt you like this. But if you poke 'em, they bounce away. If you really wanna get a good look at 'em..."

She stood and cupped her hands around one of the balls of light, bringing it close with a fond smile.

"You gotta catch 'em, like a lightning bug."

"READY!" He's more ready than he can ever be, actually. He's on his knees and he's right next to Luz. His eyes are GLUED to the papers laid out in front of her. She looked like one of those wizards he'd heard about in the fairy tale books. The ones that can cast out spells through these magical books. Instead of books, she has pages (papers) to summon magic.

orbs of light come right out from these papers and they float and as they do, Oliver is back on his feet, amazed.

"Whoa...." he breathes out in awe, "Can--If I touch it, will it hurt me?" He's already prepping his finger up to poke the orb light.

"Yeah, I know, right?!" Luz enthusiastically bounced on the balls of her feet with a grin. "Here, lemme show you! This one's my fave, actually."

She knelt on the ground and pulled a handful of light glyphs out, laying them flat beside each other in front of her. She glanced up at her audience. "Ready?"

Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap! Down the line, Luz slapped her hands on each paper, one after the other, until each one had crumpled into itself and transformed into an orb of light. By the end, about ten orbs had floated into the air, hovering at about eye-level. "Ta-daaa!"

"So you just draw on a paper and then poof WHOOSH, OOOOOooo~ there's magic!?" What kind of sound effects were those? "That's like the coolest thing I've ever heard." Magic didn't exist in his world. Or at least that's what his teammates would tell him, but he didn't believe them.

"Can you show me? I WANNA SEE! O-OH and can I take a pic too?"
