Timbs part 2

Hello beautiful people! Merry Christmas and Happy holidays! Since this blog has grown so much even during the time of our temporary hiatus, and this story (Timbs from the dynamite series) continues to get attention, I thought that I'd listen and write a part two! Happy Christmas Y'all! Also, I do want to address some stuff that is in this pic. First off, as a group, the writers at right sock decided to give each member of BTS a permanent girlfriend. So basically, nicknames which will make it easier to refer to other girls. This is the first real place you will see that. Y/N is nicknamed Bunny in this. But Y/N is used as well. Just incase it confused you.

He closed the door behind him. It thudded thickly in the small apartment of his that you frequented. It was in the same state as you had seen it the last time you had been over. Boxes were still packed, dust covered the old furniture, save for the couch that had been a combined gift from all of his friends as he was the last to move out, that had come with the appartnemnt appartment, and heaps of bubble wrap and packing peanuts littered the floor. You crossed your arms and rolled your eyes.

Your nose itched and you could feel a sneeze coming on. With a slight shake of your head, you looked over your shoulder and gave your best friend the look. Eyebrows slightly raised at the center, a light smile teased your nude, mint chapstick coated lips. A hint of incredulity mixed with “really?” and some other emotion that you tried to snuff out completely. Something akin to fondness perhaps?

Jungkook had his black shirt covered back to you. His hair was grazing his lower ears and lightly ruffled as he turned to look at you after checking that the door had indeed locked as he forgot to lock his door constantly which made no sense because it was an automatic lock, but somehow, he had already gotten people accidentally walking in on him in less than opportune moments. Namely, this girl who lived near by was always accidentally walking into his apartment thinking it was hers, but you surmised that she couldn’t possibly be that stupid and was coming in purly because she thought Jungkook was cute and single.

You knew this because one time, you had been over and she “accidentally” walked in while Jungkook was in the restroom with a cute little confused face on which fell as soon as she saw you lounging on the couch eating a particularly stringy mango. She stumbled through an awkward apology before quickly closing the door and going to her actual apartment.

But Jungkook was convinced that she was just very lost and very new to the building. You couldn’t bear to break it to him. Or maybe you didn’t want him to realize that she most likely had a crush on him. A creepy, stalkery crush… maybe you should tell him...

Jungkook’s mask sat slightly under his nose. His eyes widened when he noticed you staring, completely zoned out from your light flashback. He blinked in confusion, frozen for a second before he slowly crossed his arms and raised his own eyebrows at you.

You shook your head and scrunched your eyebrows at him then. Your hands held up in question. A stance that clearly said “what are you looking at me like that for? I’m the one judging you here.”

Again, with mirth in his eyes and his nose scrunched slightly, signaling that he was smiling under his face cover, he mimicked your stance. He leaned down slightly to get on your level. His mistake. You would think he’d learn by now.

You smacked the side of his head lightly enough that you were sure it didn’t hurt but also hard enough to get him out of this weird theater mirror exercise thing he was doing.

“Ow? What the fuck, Bunny,” he questioned, closing one eye tightly and rubbing the spot on his head you had tapped as if you had bruised him.

You rolled your eyes but reached up and patted his head lightly before giving his hair a small scratch that you knew he loved as an apology. Without fail, he smiled down at you with squinty eyes and a scrunched nose. The fondness in his eyes reached your own body. A sense of calmness. Your body relaxed.

You made to remove your hand from his hair, but he put his own hand over yours, begging you to keep it on his head for a second longer. You complied, only because you liked to mess with his hair almost as much as he liked for you to mess with it.

Jungkook ripped his mask off as you mused his hair gently. His breathing slowed and he let himself take yet another step closer to you. The scent of sweet pea flowers danced around him like a lullaby.

He was tired. He hadn’t realized he was tired until that very moment, since your outing hadn’t really been something to tire him out. He was usually fairly energetic around you and lunch was hardly an activity that would make him feel tired, but now, a nap was sounding really nice. He wondered if you would nap with him if he asked.

But then your hand was off his head and you were stepping away and the peace was lifted. He snapped his eyes open, a pretty pout decorated his pink lips which went ignored by you.

“You should really unpack all this stuff Kookie. The dust is really obnoxious.”

And then you rubbed the underside of your nose and sniffed aggressively. Jesus, how were you this...breathtaking? He felt the emotion building in his chest. It compressed into his ribs and pressed on all his organs. It grew bigger and bigger until it felt like he would explode. Jungkook gaped at you, he put a hand over his heart and scooted slightly closer so that there was only a foot of distance between the both of you now.

Your heart palpitated wildily in your chest. The words he had spoken to you that night came back to you then. You dreamed of those words. Hoped he would say them again in a different setting but never had even acknowledged that it had even happened, so you were left only with dreams and foggy memories of the way your name sounded on his sweet lips and the three words that you craved to hear.

He’d probably said it in the heat of the moment. The emotions were high and your climaxes had just...well climaxed so maybe it wasn’t that he L-worded you. It was that he L-worded what had just happened.

The issue then was that you did mean them. You blinked at him in complete shock. Had you been dating Jungkook for the last couple of weeks and hadn’t noticed?

In hindsight, he had been paying for some of your meals and while he had done this on occasion, it had become more of a regular thing. He’d also been a lot more clingy than he had been. He’d even tried holding your hand  a couple of times only for you to panic and pull away.

All of this information seemed to hit you like a ton of bricks. Oh my God… You had been dating Jungkook! How the hell did you miss that??

When you didn’t answer, combined with the horrified expression on your face that he had no way of knowing wasn’t complete disgust at the idea of him touching you, Jungkook feel like a total idiot.

To him, it seemed clear that the last thing you wanted was for his nasty hands anywhere near you. Couldn’t he take a hint? Clearly not, because you hadn’t so much as tried to kiss him on the cheek and now here he was offering to eat you. Talk about jumping some steps.

He took a step back, trying to give you some room so as not to force himself on you but he could feel his heart constrict. He was not gonna cry. He was not gonna cry. He was not gonna- oh…

Tears pooled in his pretty eyes. They burned with emotion and he really wanted nothing more than for you to leave and never speak to him again while at the same time wanting to jump into your arms and be comforted.

Regardless of his feelings, he stayed rooted to the spot he was standing in, his hands folded neatly before him as he bowed his head in a small apology.

“Oh...I uh… I overstepped. I’m so sorry, Y/N… I didn’t mean to- to make you uncomfortable.”

He balled his hands into fists trying to distract himself from the emotional pain of the blow you had dealt.

You on the other hand, were struggling to come to terms with what was happening. How did you stop this from spiraling further? And.. was he crying? No! He couldn’t be crying! You had to stop this. He may be obnoxious and a baby but he was apparently… your… obnoxious baby!

Without thinking much, you closed the distance with one big step and wormed your arms around his torso. You shimmied your head under his chin. Jungkook seized for a second. Unsure what he should do.

But as the shock wore down, he let his body relax and wrapped his strong arms around your body as he was shocked with emotion. At the end of the day, you were his best friend and if he was going to be consoled after a girl broke his heart, it would be you who would do it, even if that girl who broke his heart… was you.

But then, why were you kissing his neck softly? Was he imagining it? No. Because in the next second, you were grabbing his chin with your thumb and forefinger- they were ice cold- and you were pulling his face to look up at you.

When your eyes connected, your heart shattered. The pools of tears turned to streams in the mountains of his cheeks then conjelled at the valley between his collarbones.

Of course, on top of his good looks, he was a pretty crier. That was so unfair. Almost as unfair as the beautiful fan of eyelashes that caught his sparkling tears. And the voice that could only belong to an angel that he possessed.

You couldn’t help the slight smile that crossed your chapstick lips and the fond scrunch of your nose before you closed the three inches or so of air that divided you. When your lips settled onto his, you felt rather than saw him freeze for the third time that day.

His lips were a little salty and a little minty. Vaguely, you remember him applying and reapplying his chapstick all day. Now you wondered if he had been doing it out of nervousness.

Then his hands were in your hair, pulling you closer, balled at the nape pleasantly. He was breathing hard. Like he’d run a marathon or danced a full concert.

His lips were pressed so firmly onto yours that you were sure they would swell and bruise after this. You let all semblance of control be taken from you. One of his hands slid down to the arch of your back tentatively. Like he was scared to break you or that you would tell him to get off.

You arched your back with his hand, pressing your high necked cotton shirt into his chest. You could feel his heartbeat through the fabric of his own shirt and the muscles that covered it.

You rolled your eyes at him playfully as you opened your legs so he could slot himself between them. You pulled him closer and wrapped your legs around his waist. A mischievous smirk crossed your lips.

“What’s with the face,” he asked, sniffling a little.

“What face,” you asked, feigning innocence.

“This face,” he countered, gesturing vaguely at your eyes.

“Oh this? Ah well you see,” and then without ending your thought, you let yourself fall backwards with your legs and arms wrapped tightly around his frame. He was much heavier than you and clearly more muscular but with the weight distribution you were able to pull him over the back of the couch and twist both yourself and him so you landed on the cushions. By the look on his face, he clearly had not expected you to pull him, nor did he expect for his center to land directly on yours, but the shock gave way to the joy and fun that tended to encompass your everyday encounters.

If you’d thought that Hoseok’s attitude would change towards you after you’d saved his life, you were sadly mistaken. He immediately retreated back into his own room, only leaving to seek you out when he needed to feed. In some ways, you felt like a walking Capri-sun.

You didn’t let it bother you too much – after all, the others were more than willing to entertain you. Yoongi was teaching you piano, Jin was teaching you how to cook, and so on. You’d taken Namjoon’s advice to start exploring new things while you were still living with them, and he was right – all of them were so knowledgeable in the areas they were interested in that it was like talking to encyclopedias. It made sense, of course, since they’d all been around for so long that they’d been able to experience the evolution of their various fields firsthand.

It was only now that you had all the time in the world to learn about different things that you realized how empty your life had been in the Guild. It had been all you knew for the past twenty-odd years of your life. Life had been little more than learning the Code, physical training and all the emergency skills you would need. You’d held a gun before you held a pen for the first time.

With so much time now, you wondered what your life would have been like if you hadn’t been orphaned and taken in by the Guild. Maybe you would have become a writer, or a doctor.

Then again, everything came back to the fact that everyone lived in fear because of the vampires that roamed the night. Hardly anyone could be found on the streets at night, and even during the day, no one dared walk too close to the dark alleys where the vampires hid out. In a different life, one where you hadn’t had the benefit of extensive hand-to-hand combat training and a gun, you might not even have lived to adulthood.

With a sigh, you wrapped the throw around yourself more tightly as you frowned down at the book you were holding. Namjoon had recommended this, but somehow you weren’t in any mood to read, caught up in your maudlin thoughts.

The knock on the door provided a welcome distraction, and you shut the book as you called out, “It’s open.”

Hoseok stepped into your room, closing the door quietly behind him.

“Oh, you’re hungry again, aren’t you?” you said, thinking back to the last time he’d sought you out.

He nodded, and padded silently over to you. All of the vampires walked without making any sort of noise, and it had creeped you out a little at first, but you were getting used to it now.

The smell of blood, on the other hand, still made you nauseated. You usually held your breath for as long as possible while Hoseok was feeding, and he was considerate enough to close the wounds immediately after he was done. Still, this might never become your favourite activity.

That wasn’t an absolute no, though, because you had to admit to yourself as Hoseok came to sit next to you on the couch that the feeding was an almost erotic activity. The way he had to draw close, put his mouth on your neck… the line between prey and partner tended to blur in that instant.

It was ridiculous, you knew, and certainly a consequence of being touch-starved here at the manor. Back at the Guild, physical intimacy was just a way to scratch an itch, and hookups among the hunters were common. After all, none of you really expected to be able to get married, have kids, or any of that stuff – death in combat was the norm. Why not enjoy the time you had on this earth?

You swallowed as Hoseok sat down next to you, perched sideways on the couch. Putting your book aside, you turned to face him, trying your best to regulate your breathing and heart rate. It was all easier if you remained calm, you’d found out quickly.

Still, you couldn’t help but grit your teeth as your eyes followed his hand, reaching out to touch your neck. His skin was warm against yours, and he ran his thumb along the side of your throat, gently tracing his favoured spot.

As he leaned in, you tipped your head back to give him more room, your eyes focusing on the ceiling as your hands clenched into fists in your lap. This was normal for your feeding sessions, and initially it had been to stop yourself from pushing him away, but now you did it to hold yourself still so you didn’t do something asinine like pull him closer, which was guaranteed to make things awkward. After all, even though he was the only one bonded to you in this way, Hoseok was still by far the most aloof of the vampires.

He got close enough that you could feel his breath on your neck, and you sank your teeth into your lower lip to prevent any moaning, although you couldn’t quite stop the shaky breath you let out.

“I’m going to bite you now,” Hoseok murmured in a low voice, conscientiously warning you in the instant before it happened.

The subsequent feedings had been nothing like the first time, when he’d been almost savage in his hunger. He was gentle almost to a fault as he cradled the back of your neck to keep you from moving, carefully puncturing your skin with his teeth – and okay, this part did hurt a little, but no more than the blood donations you’d made every couple of weeks to the Guild infirmary – and then drinking. With how soft his lips were on your neck, you could almost forget what he was actually doing. You sank back into the couch cushions as he drank, feeling a little weak and dizzy… not that you hated it, the lightheadedness making you feel like you were floating, and it was only Hoseok, his body braced over yours, that was keeping you grounded.

When he was done and slid his tongue up your neck, over the puncture wounds, you couldn’t hold back the soft whimper, or the way your hands automatically flew to him, settling over his sides as your fingers curled into the fabric of the shirt he was wearing. It was like in that instant, instinct overruled all reason.

A second later, you realized what you’d done, and your cheeks burned as you yanked your hands away from him. He sat up and away from you, determinedly avoiding eye contact with you.

“Right, uh, I guess that’s that, then,” you said with forced cheer, trying to break the awkward silence that fell over the room.

“Yes, thank you,” Hoseok responded, standing up stiffly, his arms locked by his sides. He bowed perfunctorily then made his escape as quickly as possible.

Finally alone now, you let out a gusty sigh and tilted your head back to rest against the back of the couch, staring up at the ceiling without really taking anything in.

How horrifyingly humiliating, you thought, shutting your eyes tightly and cringing. How could you have exhibited such a stunning lack of control?

Still, even though you didn’t want to admit it, you felt the ghost of his touch even till now. His body under your hands had been warm and solid; his gentle touch on your neck made your skin tingle.

There was definitely something there that shouldn’t be present.

It was like something clicked in your head that day, and for the first time, you realized that you were living with seven incredibly attractive men. It was terribly distracting too, especially since you were now spending more time in close proximity with them. Piano lessons with Yoongi, cooking with Jin, working out with Jungkook (it shouldn’t have surprised you that they had a full gym in the manor, but you’d been wowed by how comprehensive the equipment was anyway) – all these activities filled your nights with so much learning and joy that you’d never experienced at the Guild.

As the summer months stretched on, you took to sunbathing in the gardens sometimes during the day, after realizing that you were starting to get unhealthily pasty and were surely well on your way to a serious vitamin D deficiency. You were settling quite nicely into your life of leisure, you thought. Behind the manor gates, it was easy to pretend that none of the horrors happening right outside your little oasis were actually real. Instead, you occupied yourself with zoning out while watching Yoongi’s fingers dance across the keys of his grand piano, imagining all the nasty things his dexterous fingers could be doing to you instead, or watching Jungkook do deadlifts while shirtless.

One of your favourite things to do, however, was watch Jin cook in the kitchen. Not only did he make the tastiest food you’d ever tasted – not that you had much of a frame of reference – but watching him move around the kitchen, the muscles underneath his shirt rippling as he chopped vegetables or flipped the food in the pan, was strangely both soothing and arousing. It felt like domesticity, like home, like something you’d never even thought was within the realm of possibility for you when your life had been about killing as many vampires as possible before one got you too.

Would it really be okay, you wondered, leaning against the island in the kitchen as you watched Jin make something called mala stir fry, if you just embraced what was in front of you now? Put down the burden of protecting the people of Seoul from the vampires and just… what? Engaged in an orgy with all seven of them? Get passed around between them, one for every day of the week?

“I can hear your brain back there,” Jin said as he poured the mixture of spices into the wok. The smell of the Szechuan peppers immediately wafted up, and you sneezed a few times before sniffling.

“Can’t hear anything over the sound of me sneezing,” you bit back, and he laughed, impervious to the spice that was currently making your nose itch and your eyes water.

“Come try it,” he invited, scooping a piece of mushroom out of the wok and holding it out for you. You came to stand next to him, your hip leaning against the counter, and he held the spatula in front of your face.

“This is good,” you mumbled around the morsel of food, feeling your tongue and lips tingle and turn numb from the spice. You swallowed, then piped up again. “You know this is way too much food for one person though, right?” you asked, looking down at the food in the wok.

Jin followed your gaze back down then sighed, his shoulders slumping. “I keep forgetting,” he complained. “It’s so hard to cook for just one person.”

You laughed. “You’ve always been a vampire, haven’t you? How many people were you cooking for before?”

“Oh, tons,” he said, running his spatula through the wok. “Back in the day I had a restaurant, and people would line up ‘round the block to taste my food. It was the best,” he sighed wistfully.

“How come you stopped?” you asked, peering up at him as you held the tip of the spoon to your mouth, trying to get the last of the sauce. It really was addictive.

Immediately, Jin’s body language changed. His expression grew shuttered and his shoulders seemed to draw up closer to his ears, as if he was stressed. “A lot of things changed,” he muttered evasively.

Curious, you wanted to ask more questions, but he turned off the flame and started plating the stir fry. “Can you get the rice?” he asked, still facing the counter and not looking at you.

“All right.” You opened the rice cooker and scooped out the rice into a bowl, but you couldn’t forget about his mysterious words and the way his entire demeanor had changed. A vampire having a restaurant? That thought sounded too ludicrous to even imagine, but why would Jin lie to you?

Come to think of it, sometimes the boys would absently refer to a time “before” and drop references to a world that had been so different. Travelling, owning businesses, socializing with humans… what had changed? What was going on?

You were still mulling over it a week later. Before, you’d have picked up your phone and texted Jennie about it, asking what she thought about the whole situation, but now you sensed that was no longer an option. Instead, you turned the problem over and over in your mind, trying to examine it from all angles.

It was hard, though. You didn’t have much practice solving puzzles beyond the most efficient way to dispatch an attacking vampire.

Still, your focus on Jin’s mysterious words from that night meant that you weren’t focusing on other things, like the fact that you’d had an apparently uncontrollable craving for chocolate ice cream two nights ago, or the slight tenderness of your chest.

Could anyone blame you? You’d been on birth control that suppressed your period for the past few years, to minimize the disruption to your training and hunting schedule. Nothing put a mark on your back like blood leaking out of your vagina in the middle of the street while you were trying to be stealthy, after all.

You were going to regret missing all the signs soon, though.

As you felt safer in the manor, you’d started arming yourself less when you left the room. First the knives in your boots went, then the rifle on your back, and the various guns you’d kept in your coat and strapped to your thighs, one by one. Now you only kept a small revolver on you, more out of habit than anything else. Old habits died hard, after all, and you hadn’t been without a weapon since you were a child.

Dinner – or maybe breakfast? – with all of the boys (sans Hoseok, who usually ate… separately) was an almost nightly affair, and you’d come to enjoy the experience. Maybe it was something that the families from the books you’d read shared, you always thought, and the thought of doing something so normal made the lost little girl inside you happy.

This evening, you were dressed in your usual ensemble of a black T-shirt and black skinny jeans, and as you strapped your hip holster on, you thought absently that maybe you should get some new clothes. Now that everything in your closet didn’t have to be so functional, you could get some cute, pretty outfits, maybe something colourful…

With a small smile at your reflection, you turned and walked out of your room.

The boys were already gathered in the dining room when you got there, and you smiled at them as you walked over to your seat. You’d been smiling more recently, Jimin noted, the tension in your shoulders loosening gradually as you became more comfortable around them.

As elated as he was by the thought, he wondered darkly how quickly you would run if you found out that every single one of them could hear your heart beating in your chest, the quiet sound of the blood rushing through your veins, coming so tantalizingly close to the surface of your skin in your neck, your wrists…

Still, he managed to keep the hunger from darkening his gaze as it followed you to your seat. He wasn’t the worst off of his brothers, and he looked over, concerned, at Jungkook. The youngest was the one having the most trouble, and everyone was concerned about him, but he seemed to be holding it together fine for now.

“Hi everyone,” you chirped as you pulled your chair out. Right before you sat down, though, a little glob of blood slid out of you, soaking into your panties. You didn’t notice at first, but the others sure did.

Jungkook, the worst off, immediately turned his head towards you, his nostrils flaring as he stared you down like a predator. Startled by the sudden movement, you looked over at him, your hands still braced on the table as you prepared to sit. “Jungkook-ssi, what’s wrong?” you asked, your brow furrowing in concern. He didn’t look so good, with his clenched jaw and wide eyes.

“Fuck,” he snarled as he launched himself across the table at you. Startled yells sounded from around the table as the others realized what was happening, but none of them were close enough to stop him immediately.

In a flash, you’d scrambled away, knocking the chair over in the process. “Jungkook, stop!” you screamed, abruptly terrified. He always seemed so harmless and lovable despite his hulking size, with his big doe-like eyes and wide grins, but now you saw the apex predator that he was.

He didn’t even blink in response, and your gun was in your hand in the next second. When the appearance of your weapon didn’t even slow him down, you fired a warning shot into his shoulder, unable to bring yourself to go for a fatal shot immediately.

He paused slightly, a pained snarl crossing his face as his opposite hand came up to cradle his injured shoulder. Then he readjusted, his gaze focusing on you once again with laser-sharp intent.

“Stop,” you said, your trembling hand moving the gun up. The next shot would hit him between his eyes. You could feel your heart pounding in your ears, the adrenaline coursing through your veins as the years of training that you’d thought were becoming obsolete in your new life roared back. The instinct to squeeze your fingers and end it warred with your memories of Jungkook, acting like a cute, innocent boy, so human, so like someone you had to protect. He was almost on top of you when you finally pulled the trigger, closing your eyes tight.

There was a loud thud, and then a moment of silence. You opened your eyes, lowering your arm to your side, your revolver dangling loosely from your lax grip. You expected to see Jungkook – or what was left of him, anyway – lying on the floor in front of you, his head exploded and a huge mess on the carpet.

Instead, you saw him on the ground, struggling against his brothers who were holding him down, still snarling and snapping at you.

“Y/n-ie, are you okay?” Taehyung, who was still standing next to you, reached out to touch your shoulder, but you flinched away from him, looking pale.

“Oh, God,” you breathed shakily, dropping the gun on the floor. It hit the carpet with a soft thud. “Holy fuck.”

Jin stood up, releasing Jungkook’s torso, and disentangled himself from his brothers, getting to his feet in front of you. He was the one who’d tackled Jungkook, you noted numbly. You could tell from his earlier position. “Y/n, you look pale,” he said, ducking down slightly to look more carefully at you.

You took a step back, putting some distance between the two of you. Then, without a word, you fled the dining room, sprinting back to your room and slamming the door shut behind you.

It was only when the door was shut, bolted, and barricaded with a chair that you felt safe, sinking onto the floor. Injeolmi meowed at you as he padded over, and you patted him absently.

You’d made the mistake of letting your guard down around them, and it had almost cost you your life.

BTD/TDDUP:  Who’s the most dangerous human character?

There is a counterpart post to this for the supernatural BTD characters already posted here if you want to check that out :P

I love the human characters in the BTD/TDDUP series.  Probably a little more than the supernatural characters to be honest.  When it comes to who I think is the most dangerous in regards to the public/humanity, I had to put quite a bit of thought into this.  I don’t really have a ranking system for these, but the main things I thought about were body count, level of sadism, and physique/intellect.

 I’m also going to be thinking about the difference here between who is actively the most dangerous vs. others who are potentially more dangerous.  But the real rating will be based on who’s “actively” more dangerous.

I’m going to do this post from LEAST dangerous to MOST dangerous (opposite of my supernatural post because while the winner there was obvious, there is more to debate here I think).  Remember that these are only my personal opinion.  All decisions are up for debate.

7) Chris

I think it’s easy to explain why I have Chris at the bottom of the list.  He’s a sweet guy.  Unlike any other the other characters in these games, he was never looking to actively harm anyone.  He only snapped and seriously beat up one person.  And said person was HIS abuser so…yeah it’s even a little justified here (he just takes it a little too far).  There’s no indication either that Chris is quick to snap like this.  It’s implied that the MC and he were married for quite some time.  So he’s a rather gentle and timid guy who endured the abuse for a while.  If we’re talking “actively” most dangerous, Chris is the weakest here. If we were considering his potential to be a danger to society, he doesn’t really display any strong/consistent sadistic tendencies, or a high intellect to make him a common criminal or a mastermind of any kind.  I’ll give him this; he’s probably one of the physically strongest of the humans on this list.  I’d say the strongest physically here are probably Chris, Lawrence (if you still count him as human), and Marcus.  I don’t think his physique alone is enough to say he’d be a severe menace to society though.

6) Aria?

So we don’t learn a WHOLE lot about Aria.  She doesn’t look all that intimidating.  She doesn’t give me the impression that she sure works out enough to be able to take some of the guys on this list either.  But between her and Chris, Aria I’d say is capable of being a lot nastier. Chris has a right to be mad when he’s beating you down, but Aria seems SO much more vile when she tortures you. Yes, she has a right to be mad as well, but I always felt more uncomfortable with Aria torturing the MC. I found myself wondering if she took it too far.  I wrote a post long ago on Aria and my thoughts on her. There I go into more detail on why she makes me feel so uncomfortable (she’s actually the one character in the ENTIRE BTD/TDDUP series that made me have to take a break from the game for a bit).  But while she scares ME a whole lot, I have to put her lower on this list realistically.  Other than her sour relationship with the MC, I don’t really think she’s constantly tormenting other human beings in her spare time.  At least not as far as I’m concerned.  She’s an attorney for her main occupation, and very intelligent. So she’s definitely someone you don’t want to be on the opposing side at least.  So her “active” danger level is more that she’s likely cutthroat in the judicial system, but not really offing people on the side.  She does have a higher “potential” danger level though because not only COULD she possibly screw you over in the court of law to land you in jail…but apparently she has connections to HUMAN TRAFFICKERS. That.is.terrifying.  

5) Marcus?

Those who have wandered around my blog tumblr for a bit know I ADORE Marcus.  I think he makes a fantastic villain and a complete jerk :P He is INCREDIBLY intimidating.  He’s got a strong build and police training under his belt, so good luck overtaking him.  My money is actually on him being the physically strongest on this list.  He IS the tallest, and has the muscle to fill out the space.  I think his training could beat out Lawrence’s build (which just comes from manual labor). Chris is the only one I think who could give Marcus a run for his money (depends on Chris’s boxing skills and how well Chris keeps in shape honestly).  And intellect?  He’s both a good actor out in public, and calculating enough to plan a kidnapping and permanent captivity situation for his ex.  Yikes!  While I don’t think Marcus is a complete sadist (compared to some other BTD/TDDUP characters), he DOES show some enjoyment in tormenting the MC too.  So then, why don’t I have him higher on this list? Well if this was a list for “potentially” most dangerous, Marcus would win.  Can you imagine if Marcus was a full blown serial killer while working as a cop?  He could cover his tracks REALLY well.  He probably does cover his tracks after kidnapping the MC (AND he killed John to avoid witnesses).  But the thing to remember here is that Marcus ISN’T usually an active murderer.  He’s got one murder and one kidnapping under his belt, but as far as we know that’s pretty much it.  He’s a good cop most of the time.  He spends most of his time putting criminals away, not being one himself. The MC just makes him crazy.  So “actively,” he’s not usually as dangerous as some of the other human characters.  He could be more dangerous I think if people try to intervene and take the MC away from him. Otherwise, he’s on the public’s side most of the time.  Like with Aria, probably will leave you alone unless you cross him.

4) Ellen?

So Ellen doesn’t have a strong build to make her impossible to fend off, and she doesn’t have any scary connections like Aria does.  Plus, she’s only a college student.  So why should I place her higher than people like Marcus or Aria? One word: Unstable.  Oh she’s an intelligent young woman who carries on a conversation just fine.  She has a lot of insight as well.  But she also: Is interested in getting closer to a person she KNOWS is a serial killer AND necrophiliac, experiences catharsis by seeing others in pain, kidnaps Jack’s spouse and treats them like her pet dog, and has quite a bit of interesting ways to kill you both accidentally and intentionally.  This type of behavior indicates she’s more likely to cause harm to others.  The only problem is I don’t know is she’s really…done a whole lot of damage to other people at this point in time.  She may be too young yet (her potential victim count simply hasn’t had a chance to climb yet).  If she was willing to help Jack with his work though, something tells me she’s on the wrong track.  Still, since I don’t know how often she’s gone out of her way to hurt others in her daily life, she could move up or down on this list in regards to “actively” dangerous.

3) Lawrence

So if you want to disregard the bit about Lawrence being rotted by the river and turning into a lich, Lawrence was indeed born a human.  You can take him out of this list otherwise (I have him also in the supernatural post to cover my bases).  Similar to Ellen, I’m placing Lawrence higher on this list because of how unstable he is. And unlike Ellen, we actually ARE given hints that the MC in BTD2 is not Lawrence’s first victim.  If you’ve read my supernatural post counterpart to this, you know what I have to say about Lawrence.  I’ll just cheat a little and grab from that post :P

“ He might freak out/snap at people more frequently that we realize.  When he is upset too, unfortunately it’s not just that he’s letting his frustration out on whoever is standing next to him.  Remember at the beginning of BTD2, how Lawrence got upset when Ren left?  MC left the bar first, and Lawrence followed them OUT with the intention of beating them up.  He’s dangerous.  And when he kidnaps you (cuz he freaked out that he’d get in trouble for hurting you)…it’s kind of implied this isn’t the first time he’s done this.  He’s not as big a sadist as the others, but sometimes he does take a little more enjoyment in cutting you up than he should if you’ve managed to send him over the edge.  Not an intellectual himself, and he’s a little difficult to reason with. His physique also makes it hard to overtake him (you have to kill him when he’s sleeping).”

So yes, unstable, physical threat, small hints of sadism, and bigger body count makes Lawrence a greater danger to society.

The REAL Debate:  Strade vs. Jack

If we’re talking “who’s the most dangerous to society”…of course the ones most ACTIVELY dangerous would be the serial killers.  The only question is, which one is MORE dangerous? This can be a little tricky to answer. The problem is we have one serial killer who’s very straightforward and we know EXACTLY how he operates (Strade), while we have another who we hardly know anything about his methods of killing (Jack).  Strade is openly charming and cheery, but takes extreme pleasure in tormenting and killing individuals he usually tricks/kidnaps from local bars.  Jack is more of an enigma:  You don’t know where he finds his victims, how he interacts with them, his method of killing them, and  how often he kills them.  We know that young Jack is pretty sadistic, but older Jack doesn’t appear to share that same level of sadism.  Jack’s a big mystery overall.  Both Strade and Jack seem to show no remorse in regards to what they do either. Physique, they’re…probably not too different strength wise to be honest.  I don’t know their exercise routines to be able to choose one properly over the other.  I’d say Jack is probably more intelligent (he at least shows his education more than Strade does).  But since we don’t know how Jack operates when he’s killing, I don’t know to what extent he utilizes his intellect as a serial killer.  For all we know, he could be a little more primal with his killings, and just uses his wits to cover his tracks.  Who has more kills by the way either?  Strade kills for a living, so he probably has a large body count considering that’s how he makes his money.  Jack on the other hand lets the corpses rot away for quite a while, so I don’t know how frequently he feels the need to replace them.  So how do I choose between the two of these killers then?  Well there’s something I almost forgot about: longevity.  We actually have CANON timelines for these guys.  Strade is age 34 in BTD, and in BTD2 Ren is 2 years old than in BTD.  I apologize if you haven’t played BTD2 yet but…Strade’s dead in BTD2.  Gato confirmed that eventually one of his victims became too much to handle (in fact I think even one of the death endings in BTD can be taken as the canon ending that leads to BTD2- MC dies, but they’re able to take Strade out with them). So the oldest Strade ever lived to be would have been 36 at most.  Jack in TDDUP is 50 years old.  Young Jack in the extra scene is 25 years old.  Electricpuke DID confirm that by that time at least, Jack had already killed. So he’s been a killer for a bare minimum of 25 years.  Strade, I don’t know when he started killing, but let’s say maybe age 18 at the youngest (is it 18 or 19 you can go drink in bars in Canada?)  So killing for 18 years possibly.  Maybe he started younger, who knows.  Even then, the numbers look pretty close.  Just no way to really know the body count comparison between the two. Now in TDDUP, depending on your head-canon preference, Jack either gets away (I always consider the “You are alone” ending the canon one myself), or MC does successfully kill Jack.  And really the only reason I think Jack gets killed is because the MC is his weakness.  Strade bit off more than he could chew with his chosen victim, and Jack got caught by the one person he lets his guard down with.

Overall, I think this is a very close race, and maybe should be judged by who YOU think is the kind of person you’d hate to come across more, and who you think has killed more.  For me, I think I’ll go…

Personally, I’d hate to be caught by Strade more I think, but I don’t know if Jack does any torture either.  I decided to base this more off of Jack’s ability to get away with what he does for so long.

You moved in with the twins, right after they returned to their flat. Or-- to phrase it better, while Fred was still recovering from being almost smushed by a wall, you moved in with George because you knew that it'd take the two of you to give him a proper team when he was able to come home.

Molly had offered to let all three of you stay at the burrow, and there was no doubt in your mind that she meant it, but also-- you wanted space. Or as much space as living with your boyfriend and his brother would allow. 

Thankfully the twins seemed to be on your same page. 

Fred had told you time after time that you didn’t need to move in to take care of him. 

Hell, he’d even told George that he didn’t need to, but both of you had promptly shut that idea of his down. 

It was an easy choice for both of you-- being there for someone you loved. 

So here you were-- fretting about while George finally got some sleep. The poor man hardly got any of that anymore. Fred watched you with a small frown as you walked around the flat, waving your wand to clean up the mess that everyone had made through the day. His eyes didn’t leave you. 

Things were getting better for him. He’d been out of the hospital for almost three weeks-- he could walk on his own. He was getting less and less shaky as time went on. Fred could manage most daily activities by himself. 

All in all, he would say that he was about seventy percent independent. Able to do his own thing. Which made this just a tad annoying. 

“Let me help you, Emma.” 

Instinctively, you shook your head as you nudged the small pile of shoes into a line, “No Freddie-- you’ve gotta rest.” you didn’t hear him get up behind you, and jolted a bit as his arms wrapped around your waist and his lips pressed against the nape of your neck. 

“I’m feeling a lot better.” 

“You are?” there’s a little bit of nervousness in your voice-- it’s all you can think about sometimes, how small and broken he looked after the battle. How worried you were when he was in St. Mungo’s. You suck in a deep breath as he presses a few more kisses to the area of skin before inhaling the scent of your shampoo. 

It makes him grin a bit-- you’ve been knicking his shampoo since you moved in. While he loved the one you used to use, there’s something oddly wonderful about smelling himself so literally on you. “I do. So stop fretting so much. I can help clean. I can walk for a bit. I know my limits.” 

He was Fred Weasley for Merlin’s sake-- since when did he like people treating him like a glass vase? He’d gone back to class three days after almost having his skull cracked in by a bludger. 

Then again he wasn’t stupid-- he knew that was a lot different than what had happened to him, but the principle still stood. 

He was rather tough. He could handle this. 

For as much as he felt his personality changing and becoming in some ways a person he didn’t always recognize-- so full of nerves and fear-- he wanted to reclaim what little of his old life that he could. 

That meant normality. 

That meant getting you and his brother to stop treating him like an invalid. 

Your hands drifted to his as they clasped your waist, fingertips dancing over his knuckles as you closed your eyes and took in his warmth. 

Really, you’d never thought that you’d taken him for granted-- you had always gone on and on about how wonderful he was. But it wasn’t until Fred had almost been torn away from you so suddenly that you realized you hadn’t taken in every detail of him nearly enough. Little things like this could have been forgotten. How much larger his hands were than yours. The way he applied just enough pressure that when his hand removed you knew there’d be a mark on your skin for a moment or so.

“I love you Fred.” 

“I love you too. Now let me make you dinner.” 

There was a pause from you, as you considered his words. “Only if you let me help.” you giggled a little at the small huff of indignation from Fred, only to laugh a full fledged laugh when he pecked your cheek and relented. 

“Alright-- but I do most of the cooking.” 

“Deal.” 

Things felt back to normal. So much so that you were able to relent just a bit and forget about everything that had happened. 

There was just Fred. 

Laughter, and Fred. 

The way you always preferred it, if you were to be truthful. 

You two chatted over dinner-- pasta that was surprisingly good despite him not having cooked in several months. You reckoned it was a family recipe he’d memorized long ago. When it came time to clear your plates Fred was first to stand up and tutted when you tried to gather everything. With a wave of his wand he got the kitchen in motion to clean itself. “Rest, love. You’ve been on your feet all day.” 

“Shouldn’t I be telling you something like that?” 

You were met with a smacking kiss on your cheek-- laughing just a bit as Fred pulled you up from your chair and towards the couch. “I’ve been resting for about a month and a half now. I think I can manage to upright for a little bit.” 

As he pulled you into his lap, sitting down first and hooking his arms around you. His lips immediately found your neck, quite eager. This was the first time in a while that you’d treated him like you used to, like he wasn’t fragile, and all it did was get him excited about other things you two used to do. 

“Fred what are you--” you laughed a bit as you felt his hand rest on your knee before slowly and gently making its way up your thigh. “Aren’t you eager?” It was pretty easy to tell where he was getting at with this. 

“In my defense love-- we haven’t had sex since before the war.” 

That made you think for a moment. Obviously it was factual, but the proper amount of time hadn’t hit you. 

It was late April now so-- 

Ten months. 

Holy shit. 

Understandable-- seeing as War and not being within fifty miles of each other until right before Fred almost died could do wonders on a couples sex life, but still. 

A lot. 

It was a rather rough nip on your neck that brought you back to focus, and you tried to stifle your groan as it was soothed with flicks of his tongue and more presses of his soft lips against the delicate skin of your neck. 

“Are you sure--” 

“Yes.” his hands became more rushed as you tilted your head towards him and closed the distance between your lips. Quickly, he tried to work you out of your top-- patience long forgotten as the buttons began to pop off. His lips seperated from yours with a soft smaking sound, and he swiftly repositioned you two so you were straddling his lap instead of simply sitting on him. “That work for you Emma?” 

He was Fred Weasley. 

It’d been ten months. 

You were the love of his life. 

Honestly, as long as you wanted to have sex with him, this was going to happen. 

He would see to it.

Very quickly you nodded, grabbing him by the collar of his sweater and tugging him towards you once more as your lips crashed against his. It was like all the time you’d missed was hitting you all once, and you found yourself getting more and more eager even though you two had hardly started yet. 

You heard him start to chuckle into your lips as you let out a rather pathetic whine. Immediately you wished you had stayed quiet. You knew that laugh. 

That laugh meant that despite how impatient he was, Fred Weasley was going to take his sweet ass time with you. 

“Freddie no teasing tonight.” 

He acquired the tone of mock offense, “Do you think I’m going to call you names?” his hands drifted up your sides, “Am I really that mean of a boyfriend? I’d always hoped that I was nicer than that.” 

You tried to scowl the best you could at him, but found yourself failing because of him and his damned wandering hands. You choked down a loud moan halfway through, red faced as Fred repeated his ministrations with his hands. “George--” 

With a glare, Fred looked up at you, “I was hoping we could do this without talking about him, actually.” when you smacked his arm, he let out a rather indignant ‘Hey!’. 

“We’ll wake up George if we stay out here you numpty! Do you want your brother to walk in on you eating m-” 

Quickly, Fred had you scooped up in his arms and was carrying you into the room you now shared. “Well spotted, thank you Emma.” 

“Freddie my shirt--”

“He’ll just have to deal with seeing that, George will understand.”

Singularity Theory

overall: thanks bighit for dropping this out of nowhere despite the fact that i have work the next day, totally fine. honestly i just love this whole vibe of it help. but moving on, i cant just enjoy the song without looking at the whole MV. 

everyone knew that the intro is titled singularity and due to my previous hunch in the LY Intro Theory, it would be done by Taehyung which we all found out to be true. but moving on, regardless, everything in this video is important regardless to help us understand the HYYH series.

warnings: death, mentions of blood etc, please do read with care

theory: well, when everyone thought that we are done with the HYYH series, bighit proves that we aren’t even done with it, not even one bit. in a way, this video could be seen as a standalone since there aren't much relations, but do stay tuned as i uncover the relations. 

not especially when they released the album covers of the Love Yourself Tear Album, and we see this continuation of the flowers with Love Yourself Her Album as well, notice how they actually fit. 

also, take a look at the Y version of LY Tear, there is a line that would most likely connect to the last instalment of the LY Series to spell S, E, L, F. 

also, notice that in LY Tear, the flowers have untangled themselves, as if to say that this is the end, this is how they are ruined by love; how they are now facing singularity which later could be seen as loneliness. 

i found this on twitter (ctto), that, if you like at the flowers again, it spells out  ‘Tear’; yes to the graphic designs ???

but moving on, this intro, Singularity is done by Taehyung that has a nice jazz, slow burn vibe to it. full analysis of it right here.

but let’s start off with the meaning of Singularity. 

Singularity = the state, fact, quality, or condition of being singular.

hence it could be interpreted as loneliness, especially loneliness after a relationship has ended and has been well conveyed throughout the whole mv of Singularity; right from the props itself and his acting. 

notice how the props that Taehyung uses are clothestand, though i know it’s a choreography done by Keone Madrid but the fact that he portrayed the ex-lover as a clothestand, and that he portrays the same intimate, sensual feelings with an inanimate object eg. the clothestand.

according to this tweet, Namjoon was the one behind these lyrics for Singularity, writing them after he was discharged from the hospital since he had a recent surgery.  hence the depth of the lyrics brings one to places for sure.

anyway, notice how everyone was shocked to see that this intro had a choreography just like boy meets evil. based on this tweet, it has been revealed that bighit actually teased us during the 2017 MMA, in which it featured Taehyung dancing to the same intro routine with the back up dancers.

thanks bighit for the unnoticeable hint. everyone thought it was just part of the dance and performance. 

moving on, remember i said that they are several parallels to DNA, I Need U Jp, BST, BST JP. , Wings Concert Trailer etc, here’s how.

with DNA, the same kind of wide set

with I Need U JP, and the use of flowers, specifically flora.

BST, and the same kind of neon pink filter, during the 2nd chorus of BST to match Singularity. 

BST JP, with those filters seen again here. 

not to mention the Wings Concert Trailer together with BST, them with the dripping ink from their eyes.

yet, apart from this, it’s interesting how ink comes out of one eye, as if they're crying. i would like to assume that this idea or concept is somewhat similar to the Weeping Statue ( i mean this could be far-fetched, but consider it as my personal opinion )

a weeping statue = statue which has been claimed to be shedding tears or weeping by supernatural means. Statues weeping tears of a substance which appears to be blood, oil, and scented liquids have all been reported. Other claimed phenomena are sometimes associated with weeping statues such as miraculous healing, the formation of figures in the tear lines, and the scent of roses.

however, for eg. the meaning of the Virgin Mary weeping is as such.

Some believe that because of the state of the world has caused the Virgin Mary to weep tears of blood because of all the losses of life.

yet, i find it interesting that out of everyone, only Taehyung had the mask on with the ink dripping from the eye as compared to Jungkook and Jimin. as if to say that Jungkook and Jimin are weeping because of the losses of life of the other boys but for Taehyung’s case, it is from the mask, to say that another identity of him is weeping but not really him. 

remember how in Euphoria, the storyline of HYYH changed, and so he isnt exactly weeping, he is just putting a facade. 

i mean, then again, at 0:36, there is this scene of Taehyung extending his hand to get attention and it just reminds me of their Wings VCR Concert Trailer as if Taehyung is trying to get out and escape; that same vibe.

then, notice how he is wearing the Gucci earring called Loved. the fact that the earring is ‘Loved’ since to say that he is no longer in a relationship, he used to love someone, he is lonely now; in the singularity phase. 

notice how there is this quick scene of the roses. 

as such, the flowers here are mostly to blue and lavender, faint pink possibly.

naturally, there are meanings to the colours of the roses. so, i did some research and here is what i got.

Lavender = Love at first sight or just an enchanting way to say, "I love you!" Lavender roses can offer a daily reminder of your love and eagerness to grow your relationship.

Pink = Words like admiration, gentleness, grace, gladness, joy and sweetness are just a few ways to describe the meaning behind the pink rose. A pink rose can also convey happiness, gracefulness and admiration.

Blue = symbols of love, prosperity, or immortality.

Based on another website, Blue = the impossible, or the unattainable. Since the blue rose itself is a rarity in nature, it stands for something that is hardly within one's grasp, an object that seems too difficult to be achieved. Thus the blue rose is admired and revered as an unrealizable dream.

so based on this, it is safe to say that these flowers represent unattainable love, love that was impossible especially if it was fake love as what has been hinted during the 2017 year-end shows. 

notice how this is specifically for the scenes of Taehyung and Seokjin just like how the whole HYYH series revolves around yet again. 

not to mention how the lavender represents ‘love at first sight’ as what bangtan have been promoting in their Love Yourself Her Album, especially in DNA, in which it is in their DNA upon seeing their loved one during the first time, it is fate, it is destiny, and it is not a coincidence.

but also, i found another meaning of the blue rose and i think it is really befitting. 

The meaning of the blue rose could also be in sync with the quote which goes, "some doors should never be opened."

so in a way, as if to say, one shouldnt fall in love in the first place, to protect yourself from all the negative feelings and singularity that would come when the relationship crumbles down. 

but anyway, moving on, within these scenes, it seems as though Taehyung seems to be carrying a Smeraldo flower. 

remember prior to the LY Her album, there was the Smeraldo blog that was active but is now closed. ( translations of some of the Smeraldo blog posts here ) 

also, the Smeraldo flower is actually a flower created by a man, it wasn't originally grown by mother nature or anything. it’s meaning is ‘The truth I couldn’t tell.’ 

remember how at the end of the Euphoria video, Jungkook asked Seokjin, “Brother, is that everything? Aren’t you hiding something more from us?”

and then, these few scenes where Taehyung looks up at Seokjin as if to say he knows the whole truth, so maybe he didnt even forget in the first place, but he doesn't seem to confront Seokjin about it; most likely the other boys dont know what’s going on, or even if they do, i guess they haven't had it all figured out yet; maybe just some hints that things aren't the same since in the Euphoria world, the timeline changed (Euphoria theory here).

sidetracking back to Taehyung wearing the mask in Singualrity, one could also consider this as he is actually weeping since he knew what Seokjin is doing but given that the rest doesnt know, so he tries to hide his true feelings. 

but moving on, i like to bring up the point of the whole ‘frozen lake’ metaphor in the lyrics of Singularity. 

이얼어 붙은 호수에 또 금이 가 그 호수에 내가 날 버렸 잖아 내 목소릴 널 위해 묻었 잖아

it’s not a common metaphor, but i did some research, and this is what i found.

notice how the fact that the frozen lake metaphor is used to say that in between, everything else around you is crumbling, falling apart much like the relationship that has just ended.

then it also shows how Taehyung is now touching the so called melted frozen lake, to which he sees his own reflection, as if to say that everything has already fallen apart, and now he realises that he is in singularity. 

notice how familiar this is with Hoseok in BST ( read my Taehyung and Hoseok’s pairing theory here )

but what’s interesting is that remember in BST, it ended with Seokjin’s face being cracked, and everyone got a shock because why would they do that to his face.

but now it kinda makes sense, because think of it as now Seokjin has realised that everything surrounding him would crumble and fall apart, hence maybe why he now tries to go back and correct the mistakes, creating parallel worlds, despite knowing he would sacrifice himself eg. Euphoria 

moving on, im going to go back to the lyrics, and notice how it brings the idea of the phantom.

when they brought up the phantom in verse 2, one would see the whole mask aesthetic.

honestly, i thought they were doing some kind of Jabawockeez thing but of course with this style of music, it’s not likely. so my next guess, would be the Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber. ( a classic )

The Phantom of the Opera talks about a lady named Christine who then grew up in the theatre scene, though she wasn't outright a singer, since she was young, she has been receiving lessons of music by the ‘Angel of Music’ who was none other than the Phantom himself. 

see, he was a man who had a disfigured face, hence the mask to cover his flaws. but as time passes, he grew infatuated and loved Christine though of course Christine didnt really feel the same way since she had someone else named Raoul. 

but apart from this plot, the Phantom was known to be the one lurking in the Opera house etc but more importantly, he was a musical genius, composing great operas. the Phantom was known to have experienced unrequited love but more importantly, loneliness, otherwise could be interpreted as Singularity. he has lived a life where many fear him, many have not seen him either, hence many would not love him at all.

with his disfigured face, when he was young, he was most likely not treated well, hence no compassion or a sense of empathy or love shown to him which was why towards the end of the Phantom of the Opera,

Raoul finds the lair and attempts to persuade the Phantom to spare Christine, begging him to show compassion. The Phantom refuses, and captures Raoul with the Punjab lasso. The Phantom tells Christine that he will free Raoul if she agrees to stay with him forever, but if she refuses, Raoul will die. Christine, heartbroken, tells the Phantom that it is his soul that is deformed, not his face. As the Phantom and Raoul both plead to her, Christine mournfully wonders what kind of life the Phantom has known. She tells the Phantom that he is not alone and kisses him, showing him compassion for the first time in his life. The Phantom, having experienced kindness at last, understands that he cannot compel Christine to love him, and sets them both free. Raoul hurries Christine out of the lair, but she returns alone to give the Phantom back his ring. The Phantom tells Christine he loves her, before she tearfully exits with Raoul. so here in a way, it is as if the Phantom has finally accepted his fate of not being loved by Christine but sets her free. perhaps this could be the next hint for Love Yourself Answer which would be the final instalment of this whole series. 

i did some research on the significance of the mask in the Phantom of the Opera

The short answer is this: the motivation for every event set in motion is the severe, present-from-birth facial deformity of the Phantom; the deformity that he wears the mask to conceal. He was actually forced to wear it as a child, since in the mid-1800s(and quite a bit later), an accident of birth like that was often seen as a devil's curse, a sign of uncleanliness, or similarly dark circumstances. Over his lifetime, the mask became the symbol of all the hatred and condemnation he'd gotten from everyone around him, as well as the place to hide that disfigurement. Crutch and shield and prison and symbol.

Taehyung 29 December YEAR 10

I took my shoes and threw my bag and went into the main room. My father was really there. I didn’t think of how long he was going to return or where he had been. I only raced recklessly into his embrace. I don’t remember clearly afterwards. Whether it was the smell of alcohol, the cursing or the slap to my cheek. I didn’t know what was going on. He reeked of alcohol and his pants were foul. His eyes were bloodshot and his beard was growing wildly. He hit my face with his large hand. He asked what I was looking at. He then lifted me in the air. His crimson eyes were frightening but I was so terrified that I couldn’t even cry. This wasn’t my father. No, this is my father. But then again, he wasn’t. My two feet shoot in the air. In the next moment, my head crashed hard into the wall and I slumped to the floor. It was as if my head exploded. My vision flickered and I blinked a few times. My head was filled with the sound of my father’s harsh breathing.

i love how vast and ambiguous all these scenes were, even more so when there were these few scenes that only showed certain angles of Taehyung’s face as if the rest of his face was covered by a flaw.

but lastly, this scene has got me thinking why it was there in the first place. 

this scene only came for 1 second before the video transited to something else. im not exactly sure what this is, but i would safely assume it would be a reference to the whole frozen lake thing, the one where Taehyung finds himself in the dream.

but anyway, i do think that Singularity has some hints to offer, but of course, aesthetics, music, lyrics and choreography, thank you Taehyung for pulling this off so well, i can’t wait for what bangtan has in store for us.

After I revived that text I lost my fucking m i n d over so many points in it, and I'm not gonna describe it to you, I'm gonna show you the result of my message after I took his message into Google docs and made a response to every point so long that when I sent it back it had to be split into multiple messages. Whatever (sister) has told me is none of your business and don't you date interrogate her about it when she gets back, you may not think you’re doing it but I don’t want her scared into not being able to open up to us. She's said nothing that I know myself is not likely the truth, if anything she excuses your behaviour because she doesn't know much better. 

I do not agree with your "proportion to the offence" you do not even need to yell at the kids, getting down on their level and talking with them would be a much better teaching method than terrifying them and teaching them to be scared of you. Regardless you yell so much it hardly ever feels like you are ever yelling in proportion to a particular offence it just feels like you are yelling because of your own mood and it teaching nothing but to tiptoe around you, avoid you and lie to avoid your wrath. If you're yelling to "set boundaries" the only boundaries you set are massive ones away from your children that you then act like they aren't even there. 

Yes because they're children and don't know any better. They're innocent and don't know what going or what they're going through isn't normal much like I didn't.

I do not deny my need for therapy, in fact, I am actively in search of therapy thank you for your concern and causation of that, however my need for therapy does not negate your need for it, perhaps if you had it you'd see why I feel this way though I doubt you'd ever seek it out because for some reason you believe you are a good person and a good dad and I knew going into this you'd never believe me or believe you were any different. 

I know you loved me, it does not change the fact you had a shit way of showing it snd the fact your actions did affect me. And being annoyed at me because you care is a funny way of showing your love for someone. 

I do admit I find it funny that the only examples you can provide of me big happy with you are when I was a very young child that didn't know any better and I worry if you can't see past the times where I was filled with childhood innocence and not after it was destroyed because you, again, made me hate myself. I don’t believe you are listening to me because I think you've glazed over things like how you told me I was stupid and selfish and wanted to hurt you which made me hate myself and think I was a bad person when I was only a child that didn't know any better. If you think that kind of stuff doesn’t affect a child I don't think you will ever get better. 

Oh yeah, it does make things easier for you to blame things on the divorce, doesn’t it? Lemme shut that down right now; no. if anything it helped me get away from you.

And I think it’s unfair for you to treat your children the way you do but we don't get what we want all the time it seems. I'm sorry you feel I have to apologise for something I didn't do, as I said before o am happy to be used as a scapegoat, if (his finace) wants to blame me for (her daughter) getting back into something she never stopped doing then that's your problem and if now you want to blame me too it really is your problem!

Do not try and emotionally manipulate me with the "Does it mean nothing, all the work I have done for you?" line, frankly that's weak manipulation for you, but considering all you've done to me in the past, how that affects me and how you've implied I'm crazy in this message, aNo. You feeding me and putting a roof over my head is rendered null. And god forbid I end up a dad like you, that has been one of my biggest fears for years, part of my mental breakdowns in college was me being scared if I had children I'd fall into being like you, continuing the cycle of abuse. I may not even have children purely because I'm afraid of turning out like you. I've been feeling strange to you ever since I realised how you treated me was wrong, so since high school? Don’t think this is a recent thing and don't think this is anything but me seeing things for how they really are because they're not, I've had a long time to analyse that. 

I can’t believe you called your dad a good dad and then talked about how you were a bit better than your dad was in the same paragraph. Congrats on your "Not as shit as you could have been" award. Perhaps if you went to therapy you might see how you’re not as different as you should be proud of than your dad. I remember you telling a story of him trying to tell you to drive which caused grandma to cry in the car, you should see that's fucked up. Here's an easy one for you; when you're stressed, don't take it out on your children! And if you've only shouted when you were stressed you were stressed a disproportionate amount. Maybe that's something you should work on, in therapy. And this bit "Being a parent is stressful. Being one who really cares is really stressful." Is shit. Seriously? You're blaming me for you yelling at me? Do you even realise you're doing this? In case you don't realise it this is manipulation. And again just because you were stressed didn't mean you had the right to take it out on me, even if to you it was just because you cared about me.

"Please don't let the past dominate your feelings for the present. For your sake" again implying how your actions have hurt me is my fault, I know you won't believe me but all the fault lays with you. 

"If you have anxiety and depression it will be your choice to recover" this line really got me, it sounds like you're blaming me for my own mental health problems, implying that how I feel is a choice and that I am not actually trying to help myself. I am very much helping myself and this is part of that, something you almost acknowledged in the next sentence in the same paragraph!

The fact is you are so arrogant and up your own ass that you think you're always right everyone else is always wrong and you are the greatest person in any given room when in reality you are a presumptuous asshole whose perspective on the world worries me and who's parenting style is emotional and mental abuse and manipulation and now I've broken out of it I am not afraid of you anymore so I can tell you this; fuck off you arrogant ass, leave me alone, treat your children better at least, I’m not gonna ask you to improve anymore because I know you won't. Have fun playing house and making yourself think you're the best man in the world but I'm not gonna tell you you are anymore cus I don't have to! KIP - Knowledge Inquiry Practice

Day 8 (30-04-18)

First day back from the mid-semester break, and getting to class at 9 am was quite a hassle. I felt like sleeping in till late had become a part of my daily routine during the two weeks, and now it was difficult to get into the habit of actually getting out of bed when the alarm rings. Nevertheless, I was very exited to be back at Uni again, because I had hardly come in to do work or had a meet up with my group over the break. I also felt that my work productivity had dropped during the two weeks away from Uni. So, I was ready to get back on track and work more efficiently until the end of Semester.

Today’s KIP lecture was revolved around “Critical Reflection.” Last year, we all had heard many times that we “need to be more critical in [your] reflection,” and “develop a reflective habit.” And hearing this repeatedly, for almost every Project, made me realise how important it is to have an ongoing reflective analysis and contextual research to support the development of our ideas and show how they are placed in relation to something else.

Since the beginning of last year, we had been asked to reflect on our work and show our progress through Blogging on Tumblr. This is a source of communication between us and the lecturers, that demonstrates our journey from the start to the end of a Project, as well as allowing them to read  our on-going reflection to understand our choices and decisions.

Now, what is an on-going reflective analysis? Does it mean we have to wait until the end of the project to reflect on our outcomes? And what else do we include in this reflection?

These questions have crossed my mind before, but I did learn today, the answers that we all had been waiting to hear since last year. What Andy told us about “Reflections” should have been introduced to us during our Introduction to Creative Technologies (ICT) lectures last year, however it wasn’t too clear. So, what I learned today about Reflections will definitely help me in this degree, until I graduate, and maybe even in the workforce. I also believe that it will improve my Blogging methods and content.

“Reflection is a continuous process (i.e. quality assurance), not a post-mortem “one-off” (i.e. quality control). A good reflective habit is an enabler to producing a good piece of work (which in turn will produce a higher grade). Reflective practice refers to the active, persistent and careful consideration of any belief or supposed form of knowledge in the light of the grounds that support it.”

There are two way of Reflecting - Reflection-in-action and Reflection-on-action. Reflection-in-action refers o the quick thinking and reaction that occur as you are “doing,” while Reflection-on-action is what occurs after the events, that causes you to consider the situation again and think more deeply about what lead to the situation, what options were available, and why you chose one option over the other.

Personally, I usually do reflection-in-action more than the other one, mainly because it is easier to make a decision, reflect or react better when in the particular situation, rather than think about it afterwards and realise your mistakes or consider other solutions. However, I think I am also better at critical analysis and critical thinking in regards to a Project. This is because I usually question all aspects of a Project, try to approach it in uncommon ways, consider how things may be different when seen from a new perspective and direct actions with foresight. It helps me to do this in order to know how to act in the future and do work based on previous considerations.

From this, we learned about frameworks for guiding us to be reflective - partially based on critical analysis. These are: Boud’s Triangular Model, Gibb’s Reflective Cycle, Atkins & Murphy Model,  and as a bonus - Andy’s Model for Simplicity.

I think I actually prefer Atkins and Murphy Model, which Andy has designed in a more simple way. This is because their framework contains an organised procedure, which includes all aspects of the other models, but is also more understandable and rational.

So, in my future Blog posts and reflections, I will follow the A & M Model to demonstrate my idea, describe my situation and feelings, consider alternatives by challenging assumptions, review my research and knowledge, as well as identify what/how much I have learned and experienced. I will make judgement about arguments, detach myself from the situation and ask for a second opinion, read and understand different ways of thinking, research other methods of overcoming a problem, while also determining the link between theoretical perspectives and experiences in practice.

The rest of the day was a blur of shopping, translating, eating more than either of you could stand and driving around downtown Paris in a weird awkwardness that hadn’t let up since you found out about the facebook thing.

You vowed, the second you got some privacy and your laptop, you would either delete the whole thing, or at least make it all private.

”…I mean, who doesn’t have a single privacy setting activated? I’ve never met anyone before you. The whole thing is just completely public.”

His reasons for looking into you. You got it. He had to be sure you weren’t some psycho…but thinking back on some of the shit you’d said about this man…you felt like a fucking psycho the longer you thought about it.

He seemed to find it funny and the longer he sat there remembering the little tidbits the more and more humiliated you felt.

You parted ways with him in the parking garage. Walking swiftly away from where he fiddled around with his bag in the trunk, you simply shouted a quick ‘thanks for the meal today!’ As you ran to the elevators.

Inside your room you turned on your laptop and slapped it a little to urge the stupid thing to boot up faster.

The privacy settings were easy to navigate on the desktop site and you activated every single option you found.

Even going so far as to change your smiling happy face to a picture of the Eiffel Tower that you had snapped earlier today while Kyungsoo had been signing autographs for a group of fans that had gathered. You were careful to watch their numbers incase you had to flash your staff badge and get them to back off. They turned out to be sweet and respectful enough and when they eventually left you urged him to change locations as the fans seemed to pass the word on that he was here.

You’d finished your frantic lockdown of everything in your Facebook and went through your wall wincing at the things he had read. While most of it was simply declarations of undying love for the man, a few things you’d shared on your wall were a bit more…objectifying.

Jesus, the video of a montage of close ups of his ass…you wanted to fall asleep and never ever wake up.

You moved on to your Tumblr. That was a whole other nightmare you didn’t even want to dream about him discovering and a few clicks through the settings and the entire blog was deleted.

Followers be damned, this was life or death. Should that man get his little scrolling fingers over there he’d surely had some goons fill your pockets with rocks and toss you into the river.

You started a brand new blog entirely dedicated to reblogging cute kittens and puppies and logged in with the app on your phone in the off chance that he got ahold of it and got too curious.

After thirty minutes in the ‘omgkitties!’ tag, reblogging everything you saw that wasn’t porn when your phone buzzed as a new alert from Facebook flashed across your screen.

A friend request.

You sat up straight and stared wide eyed at the profile of the person who had just friended you on this godforsaken website.

The profile picture was of the Eiffel Tower and your heart leapt up into your throat, realizing that it was from nearly the same spot as you had taken your profile picture earlier today.

In fact, there was a small bit of the crowd and when you squinted and zoomed in, you could make out the top of your head and your hand raised, taking a picture with your phone.

The name of the person who sent the request was three letters in English.

DKS and the profile was bare. Very few events aside from the creation of the profile and a header picture of some bridge you didn’t recognize. Everything else was private and there was absolutely no identifying information to be found.

Your phone buzzed again as you stared in complete disbelief and shock at the friend request from Do Kyungsoo, your bias in EXO. The man you had spent the entire day with and the man who you, until today, vowed rather publicly, horrifyingly and embarrassingly, that you would marry some day.

You snapped out of the daze to check the new text you had gotten from the same unsaved phone number that he had used to text you earlier today and you swiped to read a single word.

’Accept.’

The man was insane.

Your bias was a crazy person.

What could possibly be his motive for this? Did he really want to be your friend or was he addicted to watching you make a fool out of yourself, having been watching your, very active feed for at least a solid month now.

You pictured it now…a quick shower to clear himself of the day as he changed into sweats for the evening rehearsal he was scheduled for in less than 20 minutes now, he sat down to check your Facebook, expecting to find familiar fangirling about your fantastic day and finding nothing…he’d been cut off. Cold turkey.

You wondered if he even waited any time at all before sending the request.

As you scrolled down again something looked off and you checked the date the profile was created.

Today.

The man had created this profile today with the intentions of friending you to get back in and see your ridiculous posts of the day.

You were his entertainment and he needed the laugh.

You frowned and tossed the phone down with a groan placing your hands over your face.

What should you do? He was… well he was Kyungsoo.

Bias aside, you actually had an incredible time today. He was charming and funny and easy to talk to and you wanted desperately to get along with him. Honestly you wanted to marry him and look at his face in the morning as soon as you opened your eyes. You wanted to kiss those plump lips and get lost in their softness and you wanted to be able to touch him as much and whenever and wherever you pleased…

But he was confusing you.

He’d tease you relentlessly one minute and then pay you some weird offhanded compliment another. You hardly had time to recover from the teasing to recognize the compliment before the conversation had switched to something else. How in the world had you only been with him for one day? It felt like you’d been teased for a month’s worth of material already. Of course that was your fault….you’d given him that much to work with already with your embarrassing online activities.

Your phone buzzed again and you opened one eye to look at the message in your hand.

You quickly switched to Facebook and accepted the request, tossing the phone down so you could scream into your pillow completely frustrated at how fucked you were right now.

You weren’t needed for the rehearsal since your assignments, the members, were busy and when Anna and Maria invited you to come and watch along side you jumped at the chance. A quick change of clothes out of the fancy work attire, and into shorts and a plain t shirt made you feel much more comfortable as you and the other two girls curled up backstage, out of the way of anyone who was working setting things up, testing lighting and pyrotechnics and making last minute adjustments to the choreography due to differences in the stage size.

The entire production worked hard and you were amazed at how well things flowed. The sound system was tested as the members sang and danced in their sweats and other athletic gear. Some members wore caps, some beanies.

You tried your best, you really did…trying to give all of the group members equal attention, and a rap line from Chanyeol, or a dance solo from Jongin and Lay would pull your attention for a moment but your eyes always drifted.

Whether he was dancing or not, whether he waited for his cue, or sang his line your eyes found him. You sat somewhat behind and left of the stage so your eyes tended to seek out his back and you would blink rapidly, slapping your cheeks lightly when you caught yourself doing it.

At one point you must have given up entirely because you had just spent the last 10 minutes staring at his ass as it moved around the stage. He was wearing black sweat pants and they seemed to be fitted near his butt. Or maybe his butt just filled them out very well, but the round orbs had you completely transfixed until the song ended and you were broke out of your trance as the view of his ass vanished, pivoted and you found yourself staring directly at his crotch…and it was moving closer and closer and…

“Hey, get me a water will you?” His low voice spoke up close. Very close and you were startled back to focus and look up into his face as he stood directly above and in front of you with his arms across his chest. The plain white shirt he wore strained at the arms over his biceps and you anxiously swallowed, wondering if he knew what you had been so preoccupied with.

You nervously nodded and jumped up to your feet as you rushed to the cooler where you had seen staff grabbing water bottles and you made your way quickly back to where he stood and waited.

You uncapped it for him before you handed him the bottle and he grabbed it and drained half before he handed it back to you with a smirk.

He turned to walk away and you felt your shoulders relax as you exhaled the breath you had been holding when there was a pause in his steps and your eyes widened to see him turning back around, walking back in your direction with his head down in thought and his finger raised into the air.

“Just…one more thing before I forget–” he said and you heard his voice drop an octave. He took another step and you suddenly felt crowded by his proximity. He was hot from the practice and you could actually feel the heat from his skin radiating off of him. You were frozen. He was too close and there were so many people around. You looked around yourself quickly but everyone was busy and he took yet another step before you felt the warmth of his fingertips along the bare skin of the back side of your upper arm.

“My eyes are up here,” he growled. Your own eyes were wide as saucers and his were dark and foreboding as he stared deep into your soul, mere centimeters from your face.

His fingers flexed, digging lightly into the flesh of your arm before he let go and you saw him drop his gaze slowly from your eyes down your face and lower. You felt the effects of his very slow and very deliberate movement and he stopped at your chest level before he cocked his head to the side and looked back up into your eyes in a flash.

There was a smirk on his mouth and a twitch of his eyebrow and you coughed and choked on your own saliva that had somehow ended up in the wrong tube. He turned and vanished and you felt the trembling in your legs that told you you had to get the fuck out of there before you collapsed because you had been caught, called out on it, and then given a small taste of your own medicine.

You felt hot all over. Your cheeks were aflame and you absentmindedly lifted the half empty water bottle to your lips to drain the other half of cool liquid.

Indirect kiss your stupid brain whispered and you groaned out in frustration. Why couldn’t you just behave yourself? Was behaving like a normal functioning adult who had a healthy amount of self restraint impossible for you?

Apparently it was because the guys were done and they were leaving the stage, calling it a night and your first instinct was to follow them and possibly get a closer view of the sexy man in the plain white tee and the fitted black sweat pants.

You heard someone call your name and you turned to see Minseok and Sehun waving you down. Your other two assignments that you hadn’t even gotten a chance to help out at all yet thanks to a certain possessive member.

You smiled and returned their greeting as you waited near the pair to see what it was they were going to ask of you.

“We were wondering,” Sehun spoke with a sweet smile on his face, “if you would teach us a few phrases in French for the show tomorrow night?”

“Oh yeah absolutely,” you readily agreed, happy that you actually had something you could help them with and your mind worked as you tried to think of some easy phrases they could memorize by tomorrow.

“She’s busy. Ask Anna.”

Your mouth dropped open as you turned your head slowly to follow the sound of the voice you knew so well.

“W-What?” You responded in a hushed whisper into the space between his and your heads. Why did he always have to sneak up on you like this? Did the man seriously have nothing else he needed to be doing aside from blocking you from doing your damn job? Job blocking. He was a job blocker. Who even knew that was a thing?

Your face must have looked a bit too hostile because you noticed the two other men stiffened significantly at the strange face off they were witnessing.

A nervous laugh and a forced smile on your face didn’t help a ton but at least the worried look on Minseok’s face smoothed out some.

“He’s kidding..I’m not busy at all.” Your hands were out, palms up as if you were begging either one of them to grab ahold and pull you toward them, away from this tempting crazy person who seemed to be hoarding you all for himself.

If he wasn’t so maddeningly confusing you’d turn to him and willingly throw yourself into his arms shouting ’Take me Kyungsoo! I’m all yours!’

But this was supposed to be work. He couldn’t possibly have a single thing he needed you to translate for him right now. The people he had been speaking with for the last hour and a half had all been Korean. What in the world was he up to?

“We need her to teach us some French Hyung,” Sehun was whining again and you caught the firm head shake from the corner of your eye as Kyungsoo’s body language told you he was about to shut the baby down again.

“You brat, get your own translator.” Kyungsoo admonished Sehun as if he had actually done something wrong and Sehun’s eyes went wide as his whining grew louder.

“She is my translator! She’s not only yours,” Minseok placed a hand on Sehun’s arms to quiet down his fussing and Kyungsoo took a tiny step in front of you.

“He’s right Kyungsoo, I’ve actually been assigned to You, Minseok, and Sehun. I’m not only yours–” you kept your volume down as you said it close to his ear, not really wanting to argue here and now in front of the staff and everybody but this was getting ridiculous. What was so bad about you helping the others when he didn’t even have anything he needed right now?

“That’s strange…” he said in a cool whisper back at you, his volume so low you had to strain to understand his words as he spoke only to you, “I think I read something on facebook the other day what did it say?”

You gasped lightly and you couldn’t help the glare you shot him. His lips were pursed as he pretended to think hard to remember what you had said. You could only guess which post he was referring to but honestly there were a ton that would fit.

He snapped his fingers in the air as he smiled wider and you looked down, away from that teasing face you were beginning to get really familiar with by now.

“Oh I know, it said ‘I only need one man in my life…the only man for me is–’”

“Anna is better at French!” You shouted at the two men who watched the discussion between the two of you with silent confusion on their faces.

“S-She will be much better than me with the phrases and I just remembered I’m busy. I’ve got to help…him with…one of those…things. You know those things, everyone has them in their room…” you could actually feel yourself sinking deeper into the lying liar pit of deep despair the longer you talked about absolute nonsense. Why couldn’t you think of anything and why was Sehun watching Kyungsoo with what looked like a laser vision death glare right now?

“My shower is broken.” Kyungsoo said with conviction, suddenly, just now, not at the beginning of your ridiculous diatribe that led nowhere, but now, he decided to help you with a lie. You wanted to strangle him…with kisses. But possibly really hard ones.

Wait, was it a lie? Was his shower really broken? The way he said it sounded so real that you looked at him with raised eyebrows and a tilt of your head.

“Really?” You leaned in close to him and you sniffed, forgetting yourself for a moment as you did it and you saw him stiffen as he side eyed you and bit down hard on his jaw. You saw the muscle flex…but more importantly you smelled him and he smelled nice. Fuck, how could he possibly smell so nice?

Having just worked hard on the practice and with a broken shower the man smelled so delicious you wanted to grab ahold of his chest with both of your hands and bury your face into him as you breathed in deeply forever. You would never need another smell again as long as you could keep this one.

You shrugged and quickly smelled yourself, making sure your nose wasn’t broken.

“It broke after I showered.” He said quietly under his breath.

“Well how did it break? What’s wrong with it?” You were asking but he was already walking ahead of you, expecting you to follow now that you had an actual purpose. You noticed he was heading toward the main doors where his manager would be waiting with one of the cars.

“We don’t have to go all the way back to the hotel now, I can just call the front desk.” You were pulling out your phone and he was opening the doors of the van as he climbed inside.

“I think I have the number saved here somewhere…” your phone vanished and your thumb scrolled at nothing.

“H-Hey!” You shouted and you felt your arm tugged.

“Just get in already. We’re done here. I want to go back to my room.”

You climbed in, nodding your greeting to the disinterested manager who sat in the driver’s seat waiting for his passengers.

“Hyung, the others will be done later can you drive us back to the hotel please. I have an issue that I need my translator to resolve.” Kyungsoo’s words were quick and flippant and the manager simply nodded his head as he started the car.

My translator… you hated how giddy that made you feel.

“Buckle up.” Kyungsoo spoke to you and you watched as he seemed to be looking through something on your phone.

When you reached for it he saw the movement from the corner of your eye and quickly evaded your attempts.

“Are you kidding me? You don’t have my number saved but you have Gross Juan from HR?” he flashed your phone in your direction and you could see the long title you had given to your coworker.

“You know Gross Juan from HR?” You asked him, suddenly curious about how much you had shared about the man.

Kyungsoo shot you a look. Sassy and exasperated. He tossed your phone into your lap with a huff, no doubt leaving the screen open on Tumblr on purpose, so you could see that he didn’t buy your intense love for reblogging nothing but kittens and puppies all day long for one second. You were eternally thankful that you deleted the old blog before he’d snuck your phone away from you.

At the hotel, you spoke with the front desk attendant, informing them of the problem with Kyungsoo’s shower that he strangely could not describe in any way that was helpful.

They assured you that the problem would be taken care of instantly and he simply nodded his head, bid you goodnight and vanished up the elevator. Leaving you dumbfounded and alone in the lobby of the big hotel with nothing else to translate.

That night you dreamt of strong tanned arms and plump lips and you woke up a sweaty mess, breathing hard and feeling vulnerable. The dream faded instantly, leaving you with only the feeling that something forbidden must have taken place as your heart pounded furiously in your chest and your stomach flipped with nerves and butterflies.

It was early, the sun hadn’t yet risen but something about that dream had you awake enough that you knew you couldn’t possible fall back asleep.

Something was buzzing near your head and the familiar sensation of your ringing cell phone had you scrambling. The name on your screen flashed a single word ‘Soo’ and your heart raced. Of course you saved it last night as soon as you got into your room. You vacillated back and forth on the name. Should you go formal? Mr. Do Kyungsoo or My Kyungsoo, perhaps The Love of My Life…

You knew you would sound sleepy, as early as it was. Perhaps there was another problem with his shower? Maybe that had been real after all.

“Hello?” Your voice was lower, thick with sleep and you waited for him to speak his part. No doubt something about needing you to talk to someone somewhere about something.

“Hey.”

Sweet baby Jesus, his voice was husky and deep. You knew instantly that he had just woken up and you felt the heat rising up the back of your neck when he inhaled a trembling breath onto the line, making that sound dance into your ears and hit you straight in the gut.

“I-Is…something wrong?” You could hear the change in your own voice, now a bit affected by him, by this. What was this? Why was he calling you with that fucking voice and why did he have to breathe onto the line like that? You felt like you could burst into flames at any second.

“I had a dream about you,” he whispered and you had to put the phone down for a second as you breathed in a deep breath.

You felt dizzy. Was this really happening?

“W-What kind of dream?”

This felt dangerous. Your eyes were closed now and you could hear breathing on the line that told you something in his chest wasn’t quite steady.

“We were having dinner and…” he inhaled another breath and the sound pushed air past the mic in his phone making you gasp a tiny breath of air that you were sure he heard.

You cleared your throat to cover it. It was weak and you knew it wouldn’t fool him one bit.

“And?” You squeaked out, begging him to continue.

“And you didn’t like the sea bass so you gave it all to me. I was so happy.”

Your breathing halted entirely with his words and you honestly didn’t have a response for him. He was silent on the line and you felt the comedown of the weird mood he had put you in with his phone call. It settled and vanished and you blinked into the darkness that still filled your room.

“That’s it? I gave you my fish?” Your affected voice was long gone. This man…

“The sea bass! From yesterday that fish, I… can’t stop thinking about it.”

“But that’s it? That was the whole dream?” You couldn’t believe this. Was he really calling you before sunrise for this? A dream about fish?

“Umm…n-no… actually a few other things also happened–” his voice changed again, and you heard a new instability under the words that you hadn’t expected.

“Other things?” Why did these two words sound so sinister when you repeated them back to him. We’re his ‘other things’ similar to your ‘other things’ that left you awake feeling hot and bothered? You doubted it….but something in the way he was breathing in that husky sleepy voice of his was building a fire in your belly.

“Mhmm,” you had to squeeze your eyes closed tightly for that one. You were certain you felt that hum right between your legs, why was he doing this to you? Did he know the power he had over you? He must have known. You were putty in his hands. You were melting at his feet and his voice humming into your ear was the fire.

“What other things Kyungsoo?” You needed it. You craved more of his tempting words or even just more of that breathing you could hear from his parted lips. You no longer cared about lines you shouldn’t cross, this man always made you make bad choices.

You heard him clear his throat. There was no way he was….affected right now right?

“Chanyeol’s calling me I have to go.” The line clicked and went dead silent.

It took three full seconds for you to process what just happened. After that your fit was on full volume as you growled out loud in frustration and kicked your legs up and down angrily on your bed.

This man! This tortuous beautiful sexy as fuck jerk was playing with you in your most vulnerable state!

No, it wasn’t sleepy. Your true vulnerability was him. You were weakest when he was involved and not only did he know it but he was toying with you and having the time of his life. You pictured him rolling around laughing in his bed now, clutching his belly as he laughed so hard he lost his breath and felt the hunger pains strike.

You leapt up from the bed and headed toward your shower. You grabbed your razor so you could shave your legs for today and when you were squeaky clean, armed with delightful smelling lotion all over your skin you reached for your best weapons. The shortest skirt you could get away with at work and the tight white top that hugged and dipped in the best places.

If he could assault you with sexiness there was nothing in the rules that said you had to play clean. The man clearly needed to be taught a lesson.

The day was busy.

Truth be told you hardly saw him. It was a concert day and there was sound checks and hoards of fans. There was makeup and wardrobe and countdowns and announcements and roll calls and you spent much of the time backstage out of the way watching the monitors as you were on call should anyone need you.

When you did see him, he was in one of the familiar stage costumes that included tight leather pants., straps and hoops hanging and dat ass oh my. He was moving swiftly but you caught his eye and gave him a smile and encouraging thumbs up with one hand as he walked by with the group. You saw the small head nod that told you he’d seen you and as the group made their way past you felt him reach out and touch the back of your hand lightly with his own hand. It was a small brush against you. It was intentional and it was all he could do when so pressed for time but the tiny gesture did something inside your chest.

Your felt a building pressure inside there and only a quick placement of your hands over your face so you could jump up and down as discretely as possible while concealing a tiny shriek would do.

Unfortunately he wasn’t through the stage door yet and you caught the highly amused smirk that graced his face as he caught your stupid mini freak out dance and you wanted to die all over again.

When the show was over there were talks of flights and wake ups and airports and you found yourself part of a traveling circus of staff and members as the whole operation was moving to the next city.

You half paid attention to your flight information and you knew that your group of translators has been put on the same flight as the members so you could be available for customs forms and anything else they needed when they arrived.

Your mind drifted on the flight, paying the extra fee for the onboard wifi you scrolled mindlessly through your kitties on Tumblr, searching his name every few minutes when you got fed up with all of the cute.

Your phone buzzed and you recognized the three letter name and you smiled a stupid self indulgent smile that slowly faded and vanished when you read his message.

“Are you on my flight? Everyone is asleep and I’m bored. Come play with me. ^~”

I´m the friendly anon. Don´t worry I understand it was just an error, this happen to me a lot when I´m on the movile phone. I want to show you my total support. And about the psycho anon, just blocked her. Or don´t post her submits. I think is her who want the attention. Or discredit you. But I think your blog is really needed for balance, and for put some sense in this messy fandom. No all Seb´s fans hate Margo. In fact most of us respect her or just ignore her. There are only a few -but very rabid- fans that actively hate her by creating hate blogs on tumblr and hate accounts on IG. For me doesn´t matter who he dates as far as he is happy. And I think he is happy with Margo, and she reciprocates him. But it seems some fans can´t accept he is happy in his life, they prefer the tormented and celibe Bucky. They aren´t fans of Sebastian Stan the actor and human being, but fans of a character in a movie. This is not my case, I´m fan of him since “Kings” and keep following his career because I think he is talented and I´m so excited to see his hard work being rewarded. I don´t think he is a cinnamon roll or a smoll bean and whatever, just a normal guy who happen to work as actor. Sometimes I´m so worried about what kind of psychos Seb attrack as fans. I can understand how a person so quiet and nice can have those problematic fans. I read somewhere that Seb has inherited the psycho former fans of Hiddelstone and Cumberbatch. But they seem also nice persons, so still I don´t understand this level of craziness for actors who are actually normal persons.  Also it seems for an unkown reason some directioners decided to become Seb´s fans and treat him as another member of the band. They don´t realize is totally unacceptable the way teenager fans are treating a mature man. They don´t respect boundaries at all. They can´t pick out the imagines-fanfictions from the reality. And they are creating dramas as they used to do with their other idols.

Seb’s popularity on Tumblr is disproportionate to his popularity away from it. Like I said before, hardly any of my friends know who he is. At this point is probably C list in that people know his characters but might not know him by name and he appears in a franchise that appeals to a lot of very involved fans. He’s consistently number 1 on Tumblr’s most searched star and even though outside of the fandom he’s not exactly a household name, he has attracted a lot of incredibly inappropriate activity. You’re right about this particular anon but I actually find she’s giving a good insight into just how unbalanced his fans can be. Remember, this is one of the ‘nice’ ones who claims she’s a moderate fan who respects Margo. She doesn’t realise that telling a stranger who she has incorrectly accused of all kinds of things to die is the same if not worse than the fans she is criticising.

I have no clue why he attracts the people he does but another correlation is those who interact online. Celebs who interact online without some kind of professional distance lose control of things. There is a reason why more of them don’t do it and a quick wander in his Instagram tag will show you why that is. Thousands of “notice me” comments. Comments about their problems. Demands for advice when he’s just an actor and not a mental health professional. If he responds to one person, a thousand others want the same. Very young girls get completely the wrong impression, too. They think because he has commented on a post it gives them a certain intimacy with him. Being over familiar with fans can seem like a good thing but what that does is open the door for the more demanding fans. The entitled fans. The fans who assume something from a simple “like” on a post. A certain level of expectation comes in then. He responded to her, I MUST hound him to get him to respond to me. That’s how it seems. That’s how it feels.

I suppose it’s easy for them, with social media the way it is. Hiding behind a username, there’s a certain distance to it. They’re not criticising Margo to her face. They’re doing it to a computer screen. It’s cowardly, in a way.

He needs to distance himself from Instagram. Set some boundaries. Take control. Turn off tagging. Stop responding to fans. His tag can be a bloody cesspit, it really can.

I’ve always wanted to make a lyric video of Greed to Disturbs song Avarice. I promise i’ll do it one day when I get motivation lol

6. Favorite opening/ending number and why?

My favorite opening is fmab 3rd one Golden Time Lover! I find it SUPER catchy plus the scenes used in that op are so amazing!!! Just go watch it and pay attention to the transitions between characters and camera angles. I can’t praise it enough.

My favorite ending is actually fma 03’s first ending!! It gives me such a rush of nostalgia, also the song itself is great. And the art style is beautiful, i adore the use of solid black for shading. Plus the little hand to hand combat scene with Ed and Al. It also has little still images from parts from the story. Its beautiful, i love it so much. Also I think endings in general don’t get enough love so go watch them all if you haven’t!

7. Tell me about a scene that really touched you or made you realize something about yourself.

Gosh… I’ve actually been asked the question a lot and I try not to use the same scene but I CAN’T HELP IT!!

The scene when Ed and Al go home to Winry. Idc how many times I’ve watch fmab, I will always cry from that scene. As soon as I hear the music in that scene and see Winry slowly walking to the door I start to tear up. Then when she hUGS THEM I JUST- I get chills just thinking about it. That entire journey trying to get their bodies back and they finally did it, and they get to go home and- Ed’s promise about the tears of joy i just- I CAN’T 8. OTPs! Who are they? Why are you WEAK FOR THEM??

This might be a shock but… My OTP is GreedxLing. I know right, me? Who would’ve thought.

But yeah I ship this ship so hard is makes me sick. I adore shipping them romantically like I LOVE YOU kinda stuff but honestly I am so thirsty I will take anything. There isn’t enough content for that ship and it DEPRESSES ME. Also I hardly ever see art of First Greed and Ling. :/ it’s always Ling and Greedling. Even tho thats literally still LING. I mean I’ll take it but whatever LOL

My sister wanted me to rewatch fmab with her since I hadn’t watched it in a long time. I fell in love with Greed and slowly started devoting my tumblr to him till I became a part of the fandom lol I was actually an Osomatsu-san blog before this. I someone managed to smoothly transition to fma tho

Fma is probably the most well crafted, interesting, and heartwarming series ever created. I mean there is no pointless filler episodes, everything happens for a reason. And every character serves a purpose while still being able to stand out among the huge cast of characters.

Basically it’s a work of art that makes you care for the characters and stay interested in the plot from day 1. Also, out of all the fandoms I’ve ever been apart of, fma has the nicest, warmest community of people. I’m so glad to be a part of it and to have been able to meet and talk to so many of yall. Crusaders of the Dark Savant: Gorror Show

So begins a mostly-optional but fun dungeon level.

              I spent 14 hours late this week trying to win Crusaders, and I made it to the threshold, but I can’t quite cross it. Unfortunately, I waited a bit too long to blog about this experience, and looking at my notes and screenshots, I find it impossible to discuss what I accomplished in any kind of linear order. The endgame requires so much backtracking that I came to memorize entire dungeon levels. It also required three separate violations of my “no cheats” rule, although they’re not technically “violations” if I’m completely stuck and can’t progress otherwise. They still feel like violations.

Getting into the dungeon on the Isle of Crypts required the “Majestik Wand” that I found last session.

          In broad terms, there’s only one dungeon left after the experiences I related last time. It was on the Isle of Crypts, and it consisted of four major sections:

1. The introductory level full of undead, 22 x 22.

2. The “Hall of Gorrors,” 16 x 16.

3. Eight small 8 x 8 levels with a bunch of teleporters connecting them

4. The level with the Tomb of the Astral Dominae, 16 x 22.

I had to leave the entire dungeon–and once I got to the third section, that involved a lot of backtracking–at least half a dozen times to pick up some new item or clue or experience. I think even if you played more optimally than I did, you’d still have to backtrack out of the dungeon a minimum of twice, because there are things you can’t do on the surface until you find the right clues or items in the dungeon.

The first level was large and full of undead, fairly easy to map. It has some annoying squares where every time you enter, you set off a trap that damages, blinds, or “vegetates” your characters, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to avoid or disarm them. I don’t know; there’s a golden urn at one point, and it might be possible to disarm the traps by putting some powder in the urn the way it supposedly is in the Dane Tower, but I never found any of that powder.               

This message accompanied a lot of the unavoidable-damage squares. I never figured out what it was about.

          As I began to explore, some ghost kept appearing and shrieked things like, “IIII WWWWANT MMMY BMOCYENOBBB!!!” Having been programmed now–largely by the Wizardry series–to automatically check everything backwards, I immediately interpreted this as something like “bony comb.” I’d been carrying around a “bone comb and brushes” since Orkogre Castle, so when I finally found the corpse of an old Gorn queen and used the object on it, the specter went away. That might be the longest amount of gameplay between finding a quest object and using it that I’ve experienced.            

Most of the ruins in this game used to belong to the Gorn, it seems.

        There were some locked doors on the level that opened only with “Keys of the Tomb” or “Keys of the Crypt,” both of which appeared in random loot on the level. The rooms behind these doors had some treasure chests with decent objects. There were actually quite a few treasure chests throughout this session, and while I didn’t record in detail what I found and kept at each location, by the end of the session most of my characters were wielding different items. My Valkyrie got a Valkyrie-only weapon called “Maenad’s Lance.” I found a decent mace called “Diamond Eyes,” but the only character who could use it effectively was my lord, so I ended up transferring the “Sword of 4 Winds” to my ninja, who oddly never found a high-level ninja-specific weapon. I found an entire suit of Samurai-specific armor on one corpse, and I hated to discard it all, but at this point I didn’t want to do any more class changes.

               There were combats with demons and dragons among all the undead, and the level culminated with a battle with a black dragon called * D O O M *. Despite this being a spaces-and-asterisks boss, he wasn’t that difficult, or at least I didn’t take any detailed notes that suggested the combat was difficult. I think I might have gotten lucky with a critical hit (against which most boss-level enemies seem immune) in an early round.

The next level is the one worth talking about. It was small and easy to interpret, consisting of six 2 x 6 rooms, each behind a locked gate, each featuring a different unique enemy, each with a treasure chest behind him. Each gate opened with a “Key of Gorrors,” of which I only had two when I first entered the dungeon, but later discovered more after random combats. Some of the gates required swimming for up to 7 squares, so you arrive at those exhausted and have to spend some time sleeping before the battle.

          The enemies, all of which were optional, ranged from the trivially easy to the impossible. In rough order:

Ra-Sep-Re-Tep. This was the undead skeleton in the starter dungeon. I don’t know how he’s in two different places, but he doesn’t seem to have advanced very much in between. I killed him almost immediately. It was frankly embarrassing.

D’Arboleth. A ghost enemy. He died in maybe 8 rounds of physical attacks (meaning he had maybe 1,000-1,200 hit points), with none of his attempts at “Death” working.

         D’Arboleth’s demon ally was more difficult than he was.

        Horragoth. A demon who attacks with some lesser demons or sphinx-type enemies in tow. Both he and his comrades are fond of mass-damage spells, and Horragoth himself often casts “Death Wish” and “Word of Death.” When these spells work, they’re obviously devastating to the party, but I find–especially with “Magic Screen” active–that they hardly ever work. To beat him, I just had to keep up on healing while whittling down his hit points.

           “Do you know what you just interrupted?!,” Horragoth screamed.

         Thing from Hell. This is a bug beast with more than 5,000 hit points. It frequently casts “Mind Flay,” which can drive a character insane, and a physical attack that causes high-level poison. (Insane characters behave erratically, usually ignoring your assigned action and sometimes attacking other party members.) This was the first Gorror that I encountered as I mapped, and I gave up after a few tries. Much later, when more of my characters were capable of casting “Sane Mind” and had higher levels in “Mind Control” (see below), I tried again and was able to beat it.

           Bix goes insane.

        Beast of a Thousand Eyes. I haven’t been able to defeat either of the last two enemies, but at least I can survive a couple rounds with the Beast. By icon, the Beast is in the “flying jellyfish” family. He has these tentacles that don’t do much damage (although they can poison), and every time I tried to fight him, he’d use those tentacles for a few rounds while my melee characters pounded him for hundreds of hit points. But then, inevitably, he’d cast “Dazzling Lights” and it would be all over. “Dazzling Lights,” according to the manual, is a spell that does random effects to enemies, including insanity, nausea, blinding, stoning, and death. His, for whatever reason, seem to favor the “death” option. I tried to keep up with resurrections and other healing spells, but in about 15 tries, he always wiped out my party by the 12th round.

          Ironically, he doesn’t appear to have any eyes.

        Fiend of 9 Worlds. In contrast to the Beast, I couldn’t even last three rounds against this Rattkin enemy before all hope died. He has a Vorpal Blade that causes 99 hit points every time it strikes, almost never misses, and leaves a character poisoned even if he survives. He also shoots mystic arrows that seem to have a lot of luck with critical hits.

               It annoys me that an enemy this powerful is a Rattkin.

          Once I understood the “shtick” of the level, and perceived that the combats were optional, I didn’t mind the difficulty so much. It actually improved my approach to the game’s combats in general, which is a funny thing to say this late in the game. There are so many spells that even with the number of combats you face in the game, I’ve tended to rely on the same handful for most of them. (It should go without saying that with any difficult combat in this game, I started, or at least re-started, with “Enchanted Blade,” “Magic Screen,” and “Armorplate” blazing.) Trying to defeat the Gorrors, I experimented a bit more with different spells and combat options and found a few combinations that could have served me better.            

Having just woken up from a nap, the party regrets not having its protection spells turned on right now.

           Among my discoveries are the utility of “Create Life,” which creates an (invisible) ally to fight along side you. Not only is this ally capable of doing some significant damage, but he must stand off to the side somewhere because the enemy is capable of either attacking the party or the ally. If he casts a spell at the ally, even a mass-damage spell, it never affects the party. Those rounds where the summoned ally absorbs the enemy’s attention are very rewarding.

The spell “Armormelt” seems to do a good job of softening enemies for melee combat, and I’ve found that “Anti-Magic” causes their spells to “fizzle” a satisfying number of times. “Superman” does a good job bolstering allies. However, the problem that I have with these spells–and perhaps the reason that I avoided using them for so long–is that the manual is coy about how long they last. There’s no indicator on screen to show that you have any of the buffing spells activated, so you just have to trust that when you cast the spell, it’s doing something. I’m not big on that kind of trust.

A lot of commenters have extolled the virtues of building up the “Ninjutsu” skill and hiding in the first combat round. My characters do all have this skill–a side effect of my cycling them through ninja or samurai classes, if only for one level, to give them “Kirijutsu,” which governs critical hits. When it works, all the characters drop into shadows and then come out screaming the next round with backstabs and such, doubling or tripling the melee damage they can cause. You can also elect to stay hidden for multiple rounds and let your summoned allies do the work. There are even some mass damage spells that don’t break your cover, although I haven’t experimented long enough to get these.

Anyway, my problem with the strategy is that it really only works if all of the characters manage to hide. I didn’t spend enough points on “Ninjutsu” for some of the characters and they usually don’t make it. When that happens, the un-hidden characters draw all of the enemy’s attention and don’t prevent the enemy from casting mass-damage spells that hit everyone. Also, even characters with 50+ points in “Ninjutsu” don’t seem capable of hiding from high-level enemies like the Beast with the Thousand Eyes.

What strikes me is how, this late in the game, it’s generally physical attacks that save the day. This separates Crusaders from a lot of games in its genre where fighters become useless around mid-game, and spellcasters end up doing all the heavy lifting (Phantasie and The Bard’s Tale series are two where this is is particularly true). Here, it’s the spellcasters who become somewhat weak, with high-level enemies (infuriatingly) shrugging off even the highest-level spells cast with the highest number of dice. I find that at this stage, the best my spellcasters can do is keep the melee characters alive and healthy long enough to do their jobs. In a lot of rounds, I have my mage, bishop, and alchemist join the front three characters in physical attacks.

The only thing I had to accomplish on the Hall of Gorrors level, it turns out, was to find something called the Jewel of the Sun behind a hidden door and corridor. After that, it was on to the next section. But to get there, I had to get the first of my three hints.              

This pillar is going to be important later, too.

            To get out of the Hall of Gorrors, you have to open a gate with something called the Key of Skulls. The Key of Skulls, in turn, is hidden within a pillar called the “Gaelin Stone.” The pillar has four faces, and at each face, the party can read a message that talks about two of the game’s maps. It turns out that to get the key, you have to physically “use” the LEGEND map and hold it up against the western-facing edge of the pillar, which discusses the DRAGON and STAR maps. This is what it says:           

*DRAGON* A Dragon, a Chest, and a Key…

*STAR* A Stone Tablet, Three Statues, and a Five-Pointed Star…

              This is what the LEGEND map says:

Whatever was written upon the map has long ago faded. Now it is but a blank piece of parchment, dotted with several scattered holes. Around the edge of one hole near the center, you can just barely discern the faint remnants of a ring of reddish dye.

                When you use the LEGEND map at the pillar, it says this:       

You hold the Gaelin Legend over the face of the Runed Tablet, and see that the holes in the parchment conform perfectly with the knobs of stone protruding from the pillar. The hole near the center of the Legend is positioned directly over the eye of the Dragon, and by inserting your finger, you discover that it is actually a well-concealed button. Pushing the button, a secret compartment opens up in the tablet, revealing a black key in the shape of a skull.

      Even knowing the solution, I don’t understand how I was supposed to figure it out from the available evidence. The word “Gaelin” is only attached to the LEGEND map, as far as I can tell, in this one paragraph. Nowhere else in the game do you “use” the maps like this. What am I missing?

In any event, the gate led to the next section of the dungeon, where I spent most of this session’s time but have the least to say. It was eight levels of 8 x 8 squares with no stairs between them, only teleporters. There are 54 teleportation destinations within the area, but some of the destinations have more than one teleporter, with the result being that about 25% of the squares are either teleportation or destination squares. Some of the levels have dark areas that you have to “feel” your way through, and one has a water area. There were a few locked gates where I had to find treasure chests with keys before I could open them.          

Dark squares, a staple of other tile-based blobbers, really haven’t been a part of Crusaders so far. This was briefly disorienting.

        Naturally, it took a long time to map the entire thing, but this is the kind of challenge that I enjoy. I don’t know why I enjoy it. There isn’t much creativity involved in mapping an area like this, just a lot of trial and error. I enjoy it anyway. I stayed up all night one night finishing the map.

         There were multiple battles with undead, demons, dragons, and other high-level enemies, and while I had a fair number of reloads during the process, the battles weren’t overly hard. Each one delivered an average of maybe 20,000 experience points. My characters require 600,000 experience points between levels these days, so about 30 battles per level, but I have six characters, so roughly every five battles or so, someone leveled up.

Aside from a few weapon and armor upgrades, the key item to find among the eight levels was the STAR map. The STAR map turns out to be the solution to one of the “statue” puzzles back in the City of Sky, and you need something from that area to get through the Tomb of the Astral Dominae, so this represents one of the mandatory backtrackings from this dungeon. At the time that I found it, however, I didn’t even begin to guess that was it’s purpose. It wasn’t until I was looking up a later hint that I saw an unwanted (although it turns out, equally necessary) hint about the STAR map.             

If someone else had gotten to this first, I might have rage-quit.

          The hint I needed came from one of the dungeon levels, where to progress I needed to press eight buttons–Egg, Moon, Cross, Tower, Dragon, Skull, Sun, and Star–in a particular order. Looking through my existing maps gave me no ideas. Looking for a hint, I discovered that the answer was to be found on the CRYSTAL map, the only map that I hadn’t retrieved so far. The last clue I’d received about it said that the Rattkin had it.            

This area had four rooms of two buttons each.

          It was clear that both to find the CRYSTAL map and make use of the STAR map, I’d need to leave the dungeon, so I backtracked my way out the doors and back to my boat. I returned to New City to use its fountain and sell some excess equipment and ponder my next move. I briefly considered looking at a more explicit hint about the CRYSTAL map, but ultimately sighed, sucked it up, and took the long forest path back to Rattkin territory.

No one ended up having the damned map–I killed every NPC to check and reloaded when they didn’t have it–but it was an interesting side trip regardless. You may recall that the last time I visited the Rattkin, I had given some information to Barlone’ of the Rakuza that would allow him to intercept a T’Rang starship and perhaps use it to expand his influence off-world. Well, it must have worked, because on my return he told me that the Rattkin would be clearing out of the area. He offered to let me ransack his treasure room for 40,000 gold pieces, which I gratefully paid because I have plenty of excess gold. The treasure room turned out not to contain much of anything I needed.

         I suspect the map is in the hands of Ratsputin, who I haven’t seen for a couple dozen hours. Meanwhile, any “lore” about the map has completely disappeared. Every time I talk to a wandering NPC, the tell me about every other map, including all the ones I have, but CRYSTAL has never come up again. Of course, the NPCs themselves have been few and far between now that I actually need them.

After several hours of aimless wandering, I did what I’d been trying to avoid and looked up the text of the Crystal Map, which told me how to get through the area and up to the final section of the dungeon, holding the Tomb of the Astral Dominae. I was utterly unprepared for the difficulty of the enemies on that level, least of all (what I assume is) the final battle, and I ended up leaving the dungeon again for some grinding and other character development time. But this post is already pretty long, so I’ll save my further adventures for next time. As I write this, I’m preparing to take on the final battle again.

Some random notes:

The City of Skies, which I talked about last time, has this museum where there are several powerful-sounding artifacts including a “Mercurian Light Sword” and a “Cobaltine Power Glove.” Each item is behind a force field and can only be unlocked with a “Key of Light,” of which it appears only one exists. When I first visited the city, I found the key after visiting the museum, and owing to the difficulty navigating the area and its invisible walls, figured I’d decide on the artifact later. Then I forgot to go back. I also forgot to go back when I visited the city the second time to use the STAR map. Those items probably would have made a difference. Maybe I’ll go back if I still can’t beat the final battle.

Many of the chests in the Isle of Crypts dungeon were impossible to disarm even with a character with a “Skullduggery” skill at 100. That seems a bit unfair.

In my opinion, the graphics and animations for the various demon creatures are the best in the game.

            These guys are reasonably intimidating.

              It seems like almost every weapon and piece of armor I found was useable only by a fighter, Valkyrie, lord, or samurai. I never found any really good stuff for my bishop, alchemist, or mage.

At one point, I thought I had discovered some good stuff. One chest gave me a number of items “of Doom,” including a staff, and both upper and lower pieces to a robe. The items were cursed, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in this game; it just means you can’t unequip them without casting “Remove Curse.” The armor class on the robes was insanely low, and they also had a high magic protection rating. I was so enamored of them that I didn’t realize until much later that they sap hit points from whoever is holding them. It’s slow, but fast enough that the character will die during 8 hours of resting. I reluctantly gave them up.

My characters all have at least 18 in everything now. Some of them are up to 19 or 20 because of ankhs that you can “invoke” for a one-point attribute gain. The nice thing is that even with the toughest enemies, my characters almost always act first. 

It’s been a long time since I cast something at anything but the highest level. I wish the game would just default to the highest level.

And I wish there was a higher-level healing spell. Most of my characters have enough spell points for 8 to 10 castings of “Heal Wounds,” and it takes that many to fully restore a character’s health. That’s like trying to heal a Dungeons and Dragons character with nothing but “Cure Light Wounds” when he’s Level 20. It would be nice if the game had offered a “Heal Wounds a Lot” spell to cut down on some of the time.

Here’s a process I’m getting sick of: Entering the temple in New City. Acknowledging a message about the statue of Phoonzang. Acknowledging the screen with the name of the temple.
