Hi! I hope i read the rules correctly and didn’t miss anything. I was just wondering if i could get Teru tsukasa and Hanako with a diabetic s/o? Like their first reaction on how s/o just goes poking their finger for the first time to check their blood? Please just delete this request if you can’t do this or Thank you :]
a/n: HEY THERE!! yes of course you can 😜 i don't have diabetes myself so i do apologize if i misrepresented!! ANYWAYS ONTO THE HEAD CANONZ!!!!
warnings: uh oh blood, pricking your finger with a needle
Hanako 🌺, Tsukasa 🥀, and Teru 🤺 with a diabetic s/o (gender neutral):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hanako 🌺:
"it looks like i need one too, you're too sweet for me~"
even though you and hanako have been together for a while, he's never seen you prick your finger with your kit, he didn't even know you were a diabetic!
that all changed though, the two of you were hanging out in the bathroom as per usual, you two were chatting about your upcoming date and having lunch together! how cute~
right before eating though, you had to check your blood sugar as part of your routine. so, you got out your kit and pricked your finger like normal
you had forgotten though about how your boyfriend doesn't even know that you were required to do this, so it had shocked him
he doesn't know much about about modern medication, so seeing you prick your finger for no apparent reason caught him off guard
"but yeah! the rooftop is a nice plac- what are you doing?"
he tried to stop you cuz he thought you were hurting yourself, bless him-
you stopped in your tracks due to his sudden action, realizing you had some explaining to do
once you told him that you had to do this daily thing due to your lack of insulin, he immediately switches up
he's not very squeamish so he doesn't mind when it's time to do your thing
BUT he will always make sure that you're not hurt afterwards and always gets you a cute little bandaid for your finger
if you refuse he will make you wear it (jk)
he also carries candy (and steals candy from the mokke too) for whenever you need it, such a sweet darlin </3
Tsukasa 🥀:
"can i help you?!"
tsukasa loves taking naps with you
again he’s like a cat, all over you and you can’t escape muehehhehe
like between class periods or after school he luvz getting all cuddled up as y’all snooze togetha
you usually do your routine when he’s already asleep, not on purpose though you just aren’t aware that he’s already going honk shoo
one faithful day he was just aboutta fall asleep next to your beautiful self but somethin caught his eye!!!
some kinda pointy concoction was moving towards your finger!? and it’s gonna hurt you!? no ma’am nah uh
he swatted that thing as far as possible (to the other side of the broadcasting room) and looked back at you to see if you were alright
“tsukasa i need that to feel better..”
“THAT makes you feel better!?”
“let me explain this-“
once he was educated about your condition (it took ten times to explain and two charts), it was his plan to make sure you stay healthy!
he wanted to have an extra diabetes kit on him but having a prickly needle at his reach wouldn’t be the smartest idea..
the boy jus wants to take care of his sweetums’ 😕</3
can he even call you that
Teru 🤺:
“whatever it takes for my dear to be at their best”
atp dawg this man is educated about anything
if he isn’t you bet yo precious ahh he will learn about it until it’s engraved into his mind
whenever y’all can he takes you on cute lil dates!!!!
flowers every time, he pays every time, lets you pick where y’all are gonna go
he’s so cutie patootie keep him forever
unlike hanako and tsukasa he’s known about your diabetes for a while, before y’all started going out actually
he found out obv when you pulled out your lil kit and did your thing, asking if you needed help with the needle and such
“pfft, and do you know how to work this thing?”
“..and there!”
“you’re telling me i’ve been doing it in a way less effective way and you jus did that in seconds.”
all funnies aside he carries lil sweets for you and reminds you to take your test before you eat and sleep, he even helps you on your dinner dates 😓🫶🏼
marry him rnnrnrnrnnrnrn
GAHHH SOSOOSOSOS SORRY FOR PUTTING THIS OUT SO LATE I HAVE INZANE WRITERS BLOCK BUT HOPE YOU ENJOY!!!!
hi coco, i want you to be honest w me and tell me if im in the wrong. So me and this boy, we're exes, but we got back together after a year of not dating, anyways i been hearing shit about him entertaining other bitches dah dah dah and obviously i questioned him about it, and this nigga just be crying to me telling me about how pp always b making rumors on his name, so i said okay and we moved pass that. Like a month passed after that right, tell me why my friend sent me a screenshot, that came off of his story that he BLOCKED me from seeing. and mind youuu she wasn't the one that screenshotted it, it was the other girl that idk about talm bout 'oh her man making her so mad rn.', and believe that shit had me heated. In the screnshot, it was him and these two girls, one of the girls was hugging him from BEHIND, and the caption said 'ye dawg.'SO i texted him, and i said 'yo, are you seeing other ppl?' he gon come talk bout no, why am i asking this and how weird the question, and i told him if he is he should tell me so we can end this now bcs ian rlly wanna waste my time and he continously told me no he's not seeing anyone else, so i send him the fucking picture. This dude is gonna come text my bomboclaat phone bout, "(girls name)" with a fucking rock emoji. so i said okay, bcs if i said anything else it woulda been very fucking disrespectful. then this nga proceeds to ask me if the person sent the picture personally, and istg coco i nearly sent him up under his mother, so i said yes. he say 'ohh make sense.' so i say cool. now he text me like five minutes later, "oh i need a break, tired." so i liked the motherfucking message bcs how the fuck do you need a break after you got caught lacking? and when i did ask him why he blocked me from the post, he's dogdging the question like bitch??
I’m not used to disagreeing with you bc I usually don’t but the Charles post, woof! Maybe it’s bc I’m not a Charles fan but I am definitely a fan of max. Is it fair to consider you a chirlie at this point? 😂 as a person who prefers Carlos just overall (we exist I know) and how close this season was, just, I know Charles is stamped with the whole predestined thing and his fans like to say Ferrari don’t deserve him just as much as they like to celebrate this whole destiny brand but this season it was very close between Charles and Carlos? They basically traded off being the one more comfortable with a better weekend and close in points as well. It’s just grating to see him written of as like “mid”; when he actually is a very strong driver, good defensive driver maybe sometimes considered too tough by some but I have fun watching him. But everyone’s of course entitled to their own opinions and to like and dislike whoever. I guess it’s the Carlos and Checo comparisons that especially tend to make me go 🤨 bc maybe if you’re looking at Charles and max as being the “special boys” and the “other one” will always be just that. But the Ferrari drivers were closer this season compared to last year and Checo has just been further and further from max so performance wise to compare them… idk if I think it’s too generous to Charles or too unfair to Carlos (sorry Checo I guess). I just read your long post and had some thoughts, im not as good at articulating them as you… feel free to ignore! Hope you’re having a nice weekend
Oh bro lemme go ahead webblewebble my laminated chirlie permit rn I'm very much a sharl fan hes definitely one of my 'special boys' so the bias is real. Like when u say 'maybe ur looking at ((ur favs)) different' I absolutely am like theres no question about that 😭 Like personally I think if Ferrari were to have a competitive car over a whole season 16 wud be the one getting the most out of it. That has to do wid how I watch the sport and the type of driver I like or what ‘fast’ means to me like its really not worth all that jhjkjh just a preference. I was drawing some parallels between rbr and ferrari not checo and carlos’ individual performances just the dynamics that occur when a team has a car capable of dominance and what I think wud happen wid Ferrari. We were talking about why some chirlies—and that’s the last time im using that word like I cant— ‘hate’ on c2 to the point theyre celebrating pierre gasly randomly saying ‘they aren’t friends’ and imo its kind of a strange beef to have unless ur just a hater, which is fine but like , I think it’s a waste of ur time lmfao. Because some people acting like Carlos is the crux of sharls suffering and once he leaves it’ll all be ok and smooth sailing and like that’s just ridiculous. It takes responsibility away from Ferrari and their ((lack of)) leadership and ((lack of)) development. Maybe that’s me but I’ll never blame a driver for wanting to win and prioritizing himself even if its to the detriment of others and especially his teammate bro Im a Max and Lewis fan. And listen Monza this year?? I gotta say moved me profusely. I caught a glimpse of the mclaren dawg like that was nasty business. So while I don’t recognize in Carlos the potential I do in sharl like I agree wid u that it makes no sense to compare him and Checo when their seasons were fundamentally different and they had different objectives. And Carlos before his ((imo)) inevitable plateau did his job well yk got the win and everything. Have a good Sunday ty for the chat
We may not know which way to go, On this dark road. Mr. Duckworth. All of these hoes make it difficult. Session ten, breakthrough. One of these lives, I'ma make things right. With the wrongs I've done, that's one of you now. With the Father, Son, 'til then, I fight. Rain on me, put the blame on me. Got guilt, got hurt, got shame on me. Got six magazines that's aimed at me. Done every magazine, what's fame to me? (And I'm trippin' and fallin'). It's a game to me, where the bedroom at? Sleep, I ain't had affairs with that. What's fair when the hearts and the words don't reach? What's fair when the money don't take things back? It's rare when somebody take your dreams back? (And I'm trippin' and fallin') I care too much, wanna share too much. In my head too much, I shut down too. I ain't there too much, I'm a complex soul. They layered me up, then broke me down. And moralities dust, I lack in trust (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). This time around, I trust myself. Please everybody else but myself. All else fails, I was myself. Out done fear, out done myself. This year, you better one yourself (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). Masks on the babies, mask on an opp. Wear masks in the neighborhood stores you shot. But a mask won't hide who you are inside. Look around, the realities carved in the lies. Wipe my ego, dodge my pride (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). Look myself in the mirror. Amityville, I ain't seen nothin' scarier. I fought like a pit bull terrier, blood I shed could fill up aquariums. Tell my angels, "Carry 'em" (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). Every emotion been deprived. Even my strong points couldn't survive. If I didn't learn to love myself, forgive myself a hundred times, dawg. I love when you count me out (huh). I love when you count me out. I love when you count me out (wah, woo, ooh). I love when you count me out Fuck it up, fuck it up. Fuck it up, fuck it up, fuckin' it up. How you gon' win my trust when the lies run deep? (Wah, woo, wah). How you gon' bend your love when the bad don't sleep? (Sheeesh). Beep, beep, crash our feelings in the middle of the street (vroom, vroom). Fuck it up, fuck it up. Fuck it up, fuck it up, fuckin' it up (huh, huh). When you was at your lowest, tell me where the hoes was at? When you was at your lowest, tell me where the bros was at. Three-thirty in the mornin', scroll through the call log (huh, huh, huh, huh). Ain't nobody but the mirror lookin' for the fall off (Brrt). I love when you count me out. I love when you count me out. I love when you count me out. I love when you count me out (wah, woo, wah, woo, wah). My name is in your mouth, shoo, shoo. It's gon' take more than pride to stop. Call 9-1-1, I caught a body. Sun up now, yesterday is fadin'. Healing's only 'bout a mile away. Let me tell you 'bout the women I know (that's my baby). I know karma like to follow us strong (sheesh). I know millionaires that feel alone (sheesh). Anytime I couldn't find God, I still could find myself through a song. Many find they life in a phone. Fuck it up, fuck it up. Fuck it up, fuck it up, fuckin' it up. You said I'd feel better if I just work hard without liftin' my head up. That left me fed up. You made me worry, I wanted my best version but you ignored me. Then changed the story. Then changed the story. Good energy in the room, drop the location, please. Antibiotic for the womb, when I'm frustrated, please. (Antibiotic for the womb, when I'm frustrated). Tryna keep my good conscious in rotation. Thoughts in my head, they livin' there with no- (tryna keep my good). I made a decision, never give you my feelings. Fuck with you from, fuck with you from a distance. Some put it on the Devil when they fall short. I put it on my ego, lord of all lords. Sometimes I fall for her, dawg. I love when you count me out. I love when you count me out (sheesh). I love when you count me out (sheesh). I love when you count me out. My name is in your mouth. Fuck it up, fuck it up (true, true). Fuck it up, fuck it up, fuckin' it up. Miss Regrets, I believe that you done me wrong (Miss Regrets)
Miss Regrets, can you please exit out my home? (Miss Regrets). Miss Regret, I think I'm better off alone (Miss Regrets). (Miss Regret). Miss Regret, I got these deep regrets (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). Some things I can't forget. Lord knows, I've tried my best. You said it's not my best. I came up out my flesh. Some things I must confess (ayy, ayy) (and I'm trippin' and fallin'). Spoke my truth, paid my debt (ayy, ayy). Can't you see I'ma wreck? (Ayy, ayy). Let me loose, I digress (ayy, ayy). This is me and I'm blessed (ayy, ayy). This is me and I'm blessed (ayy, ayy). This is me and I'm blessed (ayy, ayy). This is me and I'm blessed (ayy, ayy). Anybody fightin' through the stress? (Ayy, ayy). Anybody fightin' through the?
For the ask: ballad, flowers and doves
ask game!
ballad: best love song?
mmh.. glowing by alayna. it makes me wonder what it feels like to truly be in love. makes it seem nice.
flowers: what’s the best romantic gift to give someone?
see, my love language is acts of service, so i'd say food. "the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach" is true, but i believe it goes for everyone — maybe it lacks a romantic sentiment, but i cook and bake from the heart, so!
doves: what’s the most romantic thing someone’s done for you?
this is gonna be... odd. i dunno, it may be the autism in me, noticing the little things about people, but.. the night of my sweet 16, i was completely dressed up – custom dress, heels, full face of make-up.. i felt so awkward walking in, but i caught a glimpse of the face of my boyfriend at the time, and... dawg, if only you could've seen his face. i have never seen anyone look so... enamored by me before. me, of all people! i will never, ever forget that.
hiii i saw that you write cobra kai imagines and i was wondering if you could do a miguel imagine in which the reader is best friends with robby and has developed feelings for him while miguel still likes sam, so the reader and miguel start fake dating and emd up catching feelings for eachother?🥺💞
Tumblr media
failure to plan, part one. miguel diaz x reader
summary 📣: above :)
warnings 🚫: gif not mine, swearing
slater’s note 🗯: also there will be A PART TWO I PROMISE
Tumblr media
“i have a plan.”
you looked up from your textbooks, seeing a very hyper miguel, his hands pressed down onto the table, inches across from you.
you press your lips into a thin line, narrowing your brows up to the boy, your head slightly quirked to the side, “what’s your plan?”
miguel pulled out the seat in front of you, causing you to begin to close your books and set them to the side, giving him your divided attention.
“i need to be with same,” he said straight forward, folding his arms against the cold, blue plastic table, “i’m done constantly chasing after her.. wondering whether or not she likes me the way i like her still.”
he paused giving you time to process his words as he tried to think of what to say next, how to form his words while your lips pressed back into a line.
you didn’t know miguel that well... well you did but he was more or so an acquaintance than anything else. you had found yourself noticing him a lot more the moment him and robby had began to get along, causing your whole friend group to pull closer together, that being, sam, you, tory, robby, demetri, eli, and miguel.
he was a funny kid, one you could put a lot of trust into if you needed to.
“i know you like robby,” he paused, looking down at the table as if he was slightly ashamed for knowing this information, and you yourself were slightly shocked, but you stayed silent, resisting the urge to open your mouth. “i see the way you look at him, i know you like that kid just as much as i like sam.”
robby. that “kid” was your best friend and you had very valid reasons as to why you liked him, one being as to he was there for you since day one. robby didn’t have a lot of trust in people, nor did anyone seem to trust him... but you.
you had met him at a skating rink where you had just about fallen on your ass if he hadn't swooped in and caught you by the arm, keeping you on your feet and away from falling into a deep pit of hurt and scratches.
he taught you things, you kept him out of trouble, you kept each other alive and in your well beings. you couldn't have asked for a better friend nor would you ever think about replacing him.
that’s why it was hard for you to realize that you thought of him more than just a friend. the thought of ruining what you had with for something that might not even be a possibility, that being; him liking you.
“yeah, okay, so you know that, what about it?”
“i have a proposition.”
“get to the point.”
you didn’t intend for anything that came out of your mouth to be rude, but the fact that he knew something so personal, something that you wouldn't even tell your mom or girl best friend about made you uncomfortable, on edge. what else did he know?
it was ridiculous to feel so attacked by miguel diaz because really, the kid was sweet, he had no attentions in being harmful, but you just couldn't stop your mind from caving in on itself.
“fake date,” he said it straight forward making you curve your head a bit in confusion and in thought, wondering whether or not your heard him right or if you were really going crazy faster than you thought.
“huh?” “fake dating,” he repeated, “it’s the only way to tell whether or not if i’m wasting my time, but i don’t think i am, i just know she likes me back but i need to push her a bit.” “so you want to make her jealous?” he nodded his head, waiting for you to say something, waiting for you to say ‘yes’.
“what’s in it for me?” “works both ways.” “yes, but i don’t think robby likes me like that, that’s why i haven’t said anything to him about it-”
“y/n,” he cuts you off, wanting to slow down the oncoming rambling that was about to spill out of your mouth in one big mess, “guy best friends usually like their girl best friends. robby just needs a push as well.”
it made you bit your lip in thought, eyes racing back on the table top before you. the idea he presented before you was either a really good one... or a really, really bad one.
“i’ll think about it,” you got up quickly, grabbing all your books before rushing out of the library.
°•
monday came rather fast, making you think you didn’t have nearly enough time to think about miguel’s proposition. you knew he would probably would want an answer, especially due to the fact that you had ignored all his phone calls and texts.
hanging out with robby all weekend hadn’t necessarily gave you any clarity either. it was the only thing on your mind as you the two of you went to the skate park and his dad's apartment, and mr. larusso’s home, and the food court, and anywhere and everywhere. the only thing.
you begun to feel bad because twenty minutes into hanging out he had noticed, giving you hard time about it as time continued on it seemed to have been a repetitive thing.
“what’s on your mind, kid?” “uh, nothing.”
all you could say was you felt bad.
you hustled down the hallway, trying your best to maneuver yourself around the teen bodies that filled the hallway like a small box. it was hot and stuffy and you felt your heart all high in your chest as you tried to spot for something familiar, spot robby.
you continued down the hallway before hitting a clearing a relief hitting you and lightening up on your chest, analyzing your environment before planning out how you’d get to your next class.
you rounded a corner, five feet away from your physics class before you felt the weight of your body being pulled back in your past tracks.
and you almost smacked whoever did so before realizing it was miguel, a relief coming over you as you sighed, sinking your shoulders back into a more relaxed position.
he slightly laughed, letting go of your arm, “relax, it’s just me.”
you rolled your eyes, nodding him off, “what do you want?”
“i want an answer.”
“what?” you almost resisted the urge to play dumb but the words just fell out of your mouth, think it would give you more time to make up your mind.
“you know what.”
“yeah, i don't know,” you turned around but he grabbed onto your shoulder quickly before flipping you back around.
“y/n,” he gave you a pointed look that made you even more anxious than you already were.
you bit the inside of your cheek, hoping the answer would just come to you right in that moment, but it didn't. there was just some part of you that just didn't understand, maybe that was what was holding you back due to the lack of clarity on the situation. what did “fake dating” even entail? what would you have to do? and why you? what was so special about you other then the fact that you were just as helpless as he was to getting the person he liked to like him back.
but so what? there were hundreds of girls like that at your school.
you exhaled, almost rolling your head down in shame, “you know what, fine, i’ll ‘fake date’ you... but you have to tell me why.”
“what do you mean, why?”
“why me, miguel?”
he rolled his eyes as if it should have been the most obvious thing in the world, “i already told you, we both have people we like-”
“yeah but there’s other people in this school in that exact situation,” you extended out your arm, getting worked up for basically nothing.
miguel rolled his eyes again before taking a step forward, “we can talk about this later, meet me in the library later.”
and he walked off.
°•
“hey, can i give you a ride?”
three o’clock arrived like clock work and after seven classes of hell you walked out of your last one, completely exhausted and ready to go home, but remembered you still had to meet miguel in the library.
it had been bearing on your mind all day, that you just wished you could forget about it and go home with robby like he offered.
“no, i can’t,” you mumbled, diverting your body to face robby as the two of you neared the exit of the school.
“why not? got a hot date or something?”
“something like that,” you smiled just as he did.
“alright, i’ll see you later,” he gave your arm a tight squeeze before walking out the doors, waving as he continued out onto the parking lot.
“lord, help me.”
°•
“no strings attached, you don’t have to call me at twelve in the morning when your crying nor do i have to call you when i get hurt or some shit,” miguel was straightforward, he pulled out his phone and began reading from a list off of it, like he had had this planned way before even deciding to talk to you about it. “we’re here to make people jealous, not get attached.”
you nodded, trying to process all the things he had said in the past ten minutes about what was to go down with the two of for however how long it would take before either sam or robby broke from underneath the pressure of you two “dating”.
miguel already had the week planned and you were slightly grateful that he knew what he was doing because you sure as hell didn't.
“i’ll take you out to the mini golf place so then it’s public, you know? it’ll seem more official and that way people will see us together...” he continued on by saying, “we hold hands, kiss in the hall, and do all the cheesy couple shit.” “thought you were a sucker for that stuff,” you hummed, raising your eyebrows, slightly shocked by him bad mouthing all the “cheesy shit” that couples do, the type of shit you would see him doing in the halls with sam when they were still a thing.
he rolled his eyes, “whatever, we got a deal?”
you watched him raise his hand, reaching across the table for your own... and you took it, nodding your head still lost, but content now.
“we have a deal.”
((zack was also very hot but this post aint about him))
Like bruh, the absolute saucy potential this short unlocked...holy shit.
AHEM but going back to your idea...
I firmly believe they all have brushes with confusing sexuality surrounding their traumas. These bitches been through A LOT OF FUCKED UP STUFF. And hey, what better way to reconcile with some of that than with an empowering fantasy, taking the control back in their hands?
Or, in Ivy’s case, giving that control over to Carmen.
She had no idea that this sort of curious play of power with Carmen has been bubbling underneath, slowly but surely through the years, and her kidnapping-turned-sexydreaming only unlocked the curiosity with record speeds.
One day, after a particularly...vivid dream of the sort, Ivy is left milling about the HQ feeling rather (for lack of a better phrase) hot and bothered. She wants to talk about it, she doesn’t want to talk about it, she wants to talk about it, she doesn’t...ad nauseam. Carmen picks up on the distracted behavior, culminated when Ivy accidentally breaks something in the garage with a distressed yell, and goes to check on her. Carmen’s kindness and genuine concern practically snaps Ivy’s resolve in half and she vents in teeny tiny pieces.
“Hey, Carm... Remember when you got caught up doing VILE’s grocery shopping, and you had to come save me and Zack?” She pauses at Carmen’s troubled, raised eyebrow. "Ugh, duh, of course you remember, forget I said anything.”
Carmen places a knowing hand on Ivy’s shoulder that feels like lava. “Not a day goes by where I don’t stress about it. I should’ve been there to stop it from even happening.”
“Hey, no sweat, we're tougher than we look. But, um, that's kind of...not what's bothering me.”
Carmen retracts her hand and stands at attention. “Oh? Is...everything alright?”
“Yeah, I just—" An image from her dream, of Carmen's hands over her constrained body, flashes in her mind and she nearly chokes. “Uh—”
“We don't have to talk about it, you know. We can do another girls' trip, oorrr I can just let you get back to your work.”
Carmen turns ever so slightly and, worried she's about to leave, Ivy grabs hold of her wrist. "No!" Realizing she now has Carmen's hand in her own, skin-on-skin, even more imagery from her dreams takes over her mind, and she figures it's now or never. “Hooh boy.”
“Ivy...?”
“Okay, okay.” Ivy lets out a puff of air to psyche herself up. “Ever since then, I've been having these...dreams. Of being back on the table, with that weird thing on my head.”
Carmen's expression softens, one part worried and one part guilty. “You're still having nightmares about it. That's completely understandable.”
“Yeah, but no. I-I mean, some of these are...-n't nightmares, exactly.”
“They're not?”
“No, it's like, just dreams. Good dreams, where, you're, um...” She lets go of Carmen and slowly brings both hands to her face, hiding within her palms as she speaks. “You'retherebymytabledoingthingstome.”
She groans into her palms, failing to drown out the clamor of her heartbeat in her ears. The air grows silent, still, painfully uncomfortable, until another pair of hands cup over hers.
“Funny,” she hears Carmen say, and is then met with her knowing smile as she separates Ivy's hands, “I had the same dream last night.”
Carmen leans in to kiss her, warm and comforting, before breaking off to walk towards a workbench, a bumbling Ivy tugged along by the hand.
“Carm...what're you—” Carmen encroaches on her personal space, guiding her by the arm until Ivy has nowhere to go but against the table. “...doing...”
Ivy’s defenseless to stop her. Everything is happening in altered time, she’s not even sure how or why, but her curiosity gets the better of her. She swallows an anxious lump down her throat as her back makes contact with horizontal wood. Carmen seems to tower over her, arms flanking her as she reaches for a pile of tow rope.
“You don't want it to stay just a dream, right?”
And that’s how Carmen and Ivy got into some kinky shit! The End ^p^!!!!!!!
Silence was a rare occurrence in the bunker, even more so when everyone was home. Despite the place being vast and wide with countless rooms to occupy, you and the boys typically stuck with the same out of functionality and comfort. One room in particular quickly turned into a personal favorite among all of you when you moved in almost a year ago. The library was the perfect spot to get research done for an upcoming hunt and lounge around with a drink after a job well done. It was also the only spot where it was impossible to hear actual quietness. No sounds of talking or obscene noises that ruined the reason why Sam wanted to be here in the first place.
Out of all the rooms the bunker had to offer, it was obvious to Sam the library was his most favorite of it all. Just like you and his brother. You enjoyed it for the perfect atmosphere that it brought for research. Dean loved the comfy chairs and expensive liquor he drank on the odd occasions. It might have  been easy to guess that Sam loved the library for the several shelves of books on lore. A hunter's dream come true. While that was part of it, there were little gems spread around that had caught his attention. First editions of classic novels he heard of before, and a few he discovered by accident. Sam forgot the last time he was able to read a book that wasn't for learning about a monster or figuring out how to undo the mess of Heaven. All he wanted to do was sit down with a good book and just relax. Today felt like the day he might be able to do that.
Sam called out his brother's name first, a few seconds later it was followed by Kevin's. His answer was dead silence. A smile crept on the edges of his lips when he stepped into the library to see that it was perfect. You looked up from your laptop when you heard Sam's voice break your concentration from what you had been working on. Dean was off somewhere else while Kevin decided to work on the translations in a different part of the bunker, hoping a change of scenery might help him focus better. You turned your attention back to the laptop to continue working, filling the air with the sounds of your keyboard tapping. A familiar tune that brought the younger Winchester back to his college days. Sam decided to join you.
Sam made his way over to the bookshelf, the exact one he'd come in here for, and glanced over the several battered hardcovers. He pretended to casually gloss over the titles as he glanced over his shoulder to make sure his brother was still gone. You wouldn't have cared about the fact that he plucked off a red cover novel that he couldn't stop thinking about. One with a familiar title of a land you both had thought was fictional. Filled with characters by the name of Dorothy and the Wicked Witch, who were in fact real people. Sam had been itching to read the series for himself to get a taste of the real magic, a fraction of the adventures Charlie was having in Oz.
Sitting down in the chair nestled in the corner, Sam happily got himself comfortable and opened up the book to the first page, with a little too much eagerness for a series that was supposed to be written for children. No one was too old for a classic tale. However, right before Sam could even read the first word, he overheard a noise over your typing and occasional clip from the trackpad. It sounded like vibrations. A slight annoyed look crossed his face at the disruption. It only deepened when Sam watched as you continued to sit there, mindlessly scrolling through whatever was keeping your attention. Sam passively shut the book a little too loudly. You still didn't acknowledge the vibrating phone on the table across from your own.
"Please, let me." Sam muttered to himself. He set his book aside on another shelf and reluctantly made his way over to the phone. Glancing down at the caller I.D., it turned out to be a number he wasn't familiar with. Not the one to ignore a call, he pulled the charger out from the plug and answered before it could go to voicemail. "Hello?" The voice on the other line was male, and not one he was able to recognize. You finally glanced up from your laptop from what you heard next. Sam smiled to himself at the ridiculous nickname for whomever they were trying to reach. "I'm sorry, there's no Dee-dawg, uh..."
"I got it. I got it." Dean came out of nowhere, seeming to have heard the conversation from wherever he was, and plucked the phone out from his brother's hand. "Sonny, hey. So, what's up?" You shut your laptop and got up from your seat at hearing the one-sided conversation unfold, curious as to who was on the other end. Never in your life did you hear someone use a nickname like that on Dean. You wondered who this Sonny guy was. "All right. Yeah, just sit tight. I'll be there soon as I can."
You made your way over to the boys right as Dean ended the call. You casually crossed your arms over your chest and sat down on the edge of the table, a little curious as to who contacted him. "So, what was that all about, Dee-dwag?" You couldn't help the smile that crossed your face at the nickname that sounded childish coming out from your mouth.
"Sammy, you remember when we were kids that spring in upstate New York?" Dea tried to spark an old memory in his brother's mind, despite how their childhood wasn't spent in one place for very long. They'd visited so many different places, so many small towns with motels that blurred into the same place. "Dad was on a rugaru hunt. We crashed at the, uh...the bungalow colony with the ping-pong table?'
"Yeah. You disappeared. Dad came back. You were gone. He shipped me off to Bobby's for a couple and went and found you." Sam remembered the details from the time he was twelve. While the small details were a bit fuzzy, there was no forgetting the moments when his father got beyond angry after coming back from a hunt to see disaster had struck. "You were lost on a hunt or something.”
Dean's expression changed at hearing his brother's version of the story that differed from his own, almost like it refreshed his own memory. "That’s what we told you. Right."
"I'm sorry?" You were caught off guard at what Dean said. John was never going to be father of the year in your eyes. He was a lot of things, but a liar was not one of them. You furrowed your brow in confusion. "That's what you told Sam?"
"Truth is, uh..." Dean came clean with the real version of what really happened all those years ago while you continued to listen. You and his brother both appeared to be interested as to why John felt the need to keep up the lie for so many years. What could have been so bad that Sam wasn't able to know? "I lost the food money  that Dad left for us in a card game. I knew you'd get hungry, so...I tried taking the five-finger discount at the local market and got busted. I wasn't on a hunt. They sent me to a boys' home."
"A boys' home, like a...reform school?" You took a wild guess as to where he ended up for those few months. You didn't understand the need to cover up the truth, and why John let him stay there for all that time. You weren't a personal fan of the way John raised his children, having made a remark here and there over the years, you figured it was for the best to keep some things to yourself. It might have been one of the few moments in Dean's life where there was an actual proper guardian looking over him. Beside Bobby, of course.
"Yeah, more or less. It was a farm, and the guy who ran it—Sonny—he, you know, he looked after me." Dean told you the rest of the story. You always enjoyed meeting people from the boys' past, it was almost like getting to discover another part of their tangled and strange childhood.
"Wait." Sam was caught up on one detail as to why the older man was calling out of the blue. People from their past don't call just to say hello, unless there was a problem attached to that greeting in need of solving. "Does Sonny know what we do?"
"Yeah. He's good people. I gave him the number to the Bat Phone, and it sounds like he's got something in our wheelhouse." Dean said. You nodded your head in agreement at the plan. Sometimes people were believers in the supernatural, sometimes it took a strange phenomenon for them to understand. You covered your mouth with your hand when you found yourself letting out a yawn, which didn't go unnoticed. "Hey, you gonna be cool do this, or are you too tired?”
"Yeah, I'm just, uh..." You pushed yourself up to your feet and tried to get yourself to feel more awake. You blamed your sluggishness on the lack of your usual amount of caffeine. There was no way you were missing out on a hunt because you felt tired. "I'll be fine."
Dean wanted to take your word on that alone, but he wanted to be sure. He placed a hand on the back of a chair and balanced the other on the table, leaning down to ask you an odd sounding question. "And everybody's okay with heading out to the Catskills?"
You found yourself looking around the library to see who Dean might be talking to, despite the fact he was making full eye contact with you. You raised your brow slightly and smiled at his behavior. "Unless Sammy has other reservations, we are everybody.”
"Yeah. Right. All right." Dean stood back up into a standing position, pretending like everything was back to normal once more. You didn't see the strange look Sam passed his brother from the way he was acting about a certain someone. "Grab your stuff, and we'll head out."
You rolled your eyes as you watched Dean make his way out the library to pack a few things for the hunt ahead of you. Before he could get too far, Sam stopped him. He needed to ask a question of his own about the conversation spoken just a few moments ago. "Hey, Dean...why didn't you just tell me you went to a boys' home?"
"I don't know. It was Dad's idea." Dean said. "And it just—you know, the story became the story. I was sixteen."
For some reason you felt like Dean wasn't telling you the whole story. It felt out of character for John to make up some lie to Sam. A parent would most likely make this a teachable moment. Screw up enough and you'll end up in a boys' home for a few months. You looked over at Sam to see he shared the same confused expression as yourself.
+ + +
You weren't sure what to expect when you made it to the Catskills where Sonny's home was nestled in. You heard of homes for troubled youth for behavior and crimes that weren't drastic enough for juvenile hall. An alternative that was the epitome of tough love for kids with parents who reached their end, or for those who didn’t care enough to bother trying at all. "Sonny's Home For Boys'' greeted you and the brothers of the establishment where Dean spent a few months by himself. It turned out to be exactly like Dean said, it was just a farm that had seen better days with a cozy looking home nestled on top of the hill.
Dean parked the Impala on the dirt road that led up to the house and got out, you and Sam following quickly after. He glanced around the area to see if it might still look the way he remembered. You swore you saw a smile across his face when you happened to glance over his way, the kind someone got when returning to a happy memory. You took a look around yourself to see what made this so special. For a kid who spent his entire life from town to town, stability was something he might have craved. He had his own bed for a couple of months. Dean didn't have to worry about taking care of someone for those two months besides himself...You wondered if that’s why Dean kept it a secret.
"You were here for two months and Dad couldn't find you?" Sam examined the farm for himself to try and see what was so special about this place that made Dean want to stay. It was another small town with acres of farmland that most likely was taken care of by the boys who stayed here. Not exactly paradise for a sixteen year old who'd been all over the country to settle for a little while.
"Oh, no. He found me quick. But he left me here 'cause I lost our money." Dean told you the reason for his extended stay, following a chuckle like it was all some funny story. You and Sam shared the same unamused sort of expression when the both of you happen to turn your heads to look at one another.
"You were sixteen." You came to the older man's defense to try and realize the punishment was a little harsh for something stupid. When you were at that age, what few months you still had left of teenage bliss, you fooled around and got yourself into deep trouble. Maybe not gambling away food money while your father abandoned you for God knows how long while you were forced to take care of another sibling...still, you felt the punishment didn't fit the crime. "You made a mistake."
"Yeah. I made the mistake." Dean said, seeming to refuse to try and see things from your perspective. "Look, I know how you guys think. None of this was Dad's fault."
Was it ever in the eyes of Dean? You kept your thoughts to yourself and trailed behind the boys as you made your way up the porch steps. Dean knocked on the door and waited a few seconds before someone answered. It was a middle aged woman who opened up, leaving the screen door as a barrier between you and her. You noticed right away from the stern look on her face she didn't seem too pleased to see three strangers standing on the porch. You figured Sonny didn't tell her company was coming. You spotted the gold cross that hung from her neck, the size of it was too hard not to miss. A holy woman helping run a boys' home. There was nothing scarier than a God fearing woman.
The woman crossed her arms over her chest when Dean offered a friendly smile and a polite hello. "What can I do for you kids?"
"I'm Dean. This is my brother, Sam. And this is our friend, Y/N." Dean introduced all of you. "We're old buddies of Sonny's."
"Prison buddies?" She was quick to judge, causing Sam to clear his throat at the quick escalation of who Sonny was before even meeting him. You softly nudged the man in the ribs and gave him a side-eyed glare before smiling at the woman.
"No." Dean said. "You mind telling him that we're here?"
"I'll go get him." She responded a few seconds later, taking the time to give all of you a once over in some kind of way to make sure you were decent people. Not some strangers from Sonny's past he had all left where it should stay. Dean opened up the screen door and was about to step inside, but she stopped him before doing such a thing. "I just mopped this floor, so you take off those roach stompers."
Not the one to make a bad impression, you and the boys listened, slipping off your shoes so they laid on the porch before stepping inside. Sam felt the need to bring up a small fact about the man who ran this place, finding it rather odd someone who had a run-in with the law now helped troubled youth. "Sonny's an ex-con, huh?"
"What, and we're such angels?" Dean scoffed at his brother's passive judgement on the guy before he got the proper chance to meet him. "Trust me, he's more than made up for it."
Dean stepped inside the home first with you and his brother following behind. You looked around while Dean took everything in about the place that hadn't changed since the last time he was here almost twenty years ago. The furniture was still the same as he remembered, Sonny even kept the awards in the same spot of their accomplishments. Dean didn't realize how much he missed this place, despite not wanting to be here at first when he was a teenage punk who gave the cop who arrested him a black eye. He might still have the same sarcastic charm and hatred for authority when he was a kid, but there was no doubt in his mind Sonny taught him some valuable lessons during his stay here.
"Dee-dwag!" You heard that ridiculous nickname again, this time coming from the man who gave it to Dean. You saw an older man step out from another room with a wide smile on his face at the sight of the fully grown Winchester.
"Sonny, good to see you." Dean greeted the man with the same happiness in his voice. He embraced the man into a tight hug after meeting up again after so many years apart.
"Hey, you, too, brother." Sonny said. Pulling away, he noticed that Dean didn't make the journey up here alone. He was quick to notice the tall man looming around was the little brother Dean talked so much about. "Oh, and this must be Sam."
“Good to meet you.” Sam greeted the man with a friendly smile of his own.
"Back at you, brother." Sonny grabbed the younger Winchester's hand to shake when he stuck it out before dropping it back down to his side. He finally turned his attention to you, trying to put a name to a face. “I don’t believe Dean mentioned you before.”
"Sonny, this is my girlfriend, Y/N Y/L/N.” Dean rarely introduced you as such to people. Most of the time it was either hunting partner or family friend to strangers from his past. For some reason he felt the need to tell Sonny the deeper relationship you had with him. "She's a close family friend of ours. We’ve known each other since we were born. Circumstances broke us apart, but we actually reunited back together a year after I left this place." You looked over at him and smiled, the thought of seventeen soon-to-be eighteen Dean was a drastic difference to the man who stood in front of you today.
"Good for you." Sonny seemed to be proud at hearing Dean had landed himself in a happy relationship. From the way you two looked at each other it was easy to tell he was head over heels in love. "He ain't giving you too much trouble now, has he?"
"Not anymore than usual. But it’s what I signed up for." You joked with Sonny. You lightly tapped Dean on his chest and flashed him a smile. “Good thing I love him.”
Dean couldn't help the bashful sort of smile that crossed his face at hearing you say those three words to him. Normally they were saved for private moments where no one could hear you. You carelessly tossed them around and meant them. Dean felt a spark of pride hit him out of nowhere for some reason. As if he was showing Sonny he ended up okay for himself.
"So," Dean continued on with the conversation. "The farm looks."
"Oh, please, man. It's barely standing." Sonny brushed off the empty compliment that was just the polite way to make small talk before going in for the real reason why all of you were here. "Only got a handful of kids working around here."
Dean's face scrunched up slightly at hearing that news. When he was here back in the day, almost every bed was taken here with no one left without a job to do as instructed by Sonny. "Why's that?"
"Because these days, the system would rather incarcerate a boy than redeem him." Sonny replied.
"Hey, Sonny, uh," Sam happened to look across over to the dining room to spot the woman who answered the door was lingering around in an obvious sort of way. She was wiping an already clean table with a rag. You could tell she was trying to eavesdrop. Sam made sure to drop his voice to a whisper as he casually crossed his arms over his chest. "You mind if we talk alone?"
"Hey, Ruth," Sonny looked over his shoulder to see she was lingering around for whatever reason why. Maybe she wanted to know why a bunch of strangers from Sonny’s past decided to come by without a warning. "Would you please go check on the boys, make sure their money chores are getting done?"
Ruth hesitantly nodded her head before making her way somewhere far enough away to keep the conversation going without worry. "All right." Dean jumped to the real reason why all of you were here in the first place. "So, what's happening?"
"Well, you remember Jack, do you?" Sonny asked.
Dean nodded his head. "Yeah. The tough, old leatherneck."
"Mmhm. Well, somehow, that ancient, rusty, broken-down tractor just roared to life and ran him over the other night." Sonny shared the strange and unfortunate news of an old worker here who suffered a strange and terrible sounding death that was out of the ordinary.
"Maybe it just slipped out of park or something." You guessed, trying to figure out a more logical reason behind it.
"Couldn't have. You know, I never believed any of this mumbo-jumbo stuff you kids are into, but...something ain't right." Sonny said. His concern made you a little bit curious as to what he meant by all of that. "Well, just things started happening—lights flickering on and off, strange scratching sounds coming from inside the walls, windows and doors slamming."
"All right. You think you can round up the boys while we take a look around?" Dean asked, having heard enough to suspect of what might be going on around here.
"Well, that shouldn't be a problem. Most are home on a break—well, except those with no home worth going to." Sonny said.
Sonny went on to round up the boys so they wouldn't be around to disturb any of you when you got to the bottom of figuring out what might be going on. "All right. Why don't you and Y/N take the house?" Dean suggested a plan to you and his brother. "I'll check the barn."
The both of you nodded your head in agreement before going your own seperate ways to get a proper sweep of the house. Sam decided to take the upstairs part of the house while you stuck with the downstairs, thinking you might be able to cover more ground that way while Dean stuck with the parts of the farm he was familiar with. You took a sweep of the main parts of the house to see there was nothing out of the ordinary from what you usually looked for in this situation; no EMF, no sulfur and not a trace of a hex bag. Even though what Sonny described was typically signs of a spirit, it didn't hurt to check off all the boxes just to be safe if things ended up not being what you thought.
Soon enough you made your way into the bedroom area where the boys slept after a hard day’s work. You spotted at least a half dozen twin sized beds spread around the place. Some of them were messy, a few of them were perfectly made. Sonny was right about there not being a lot of boys anymore. You looked around the place to see it almost seemed like any other bedroom. Plenty of furniture, some toys and board games lying around. You realized that this was the exact same room Dean spent two months in when he was sixteen. And you got confirmation he was here when you spotted something engraved into one of the beds.
Your fingers brushed over a hunting symbol carved into the bedpost that was most likely done by Dean himself. A smile crossed your face at the thought of teenage Dean protecting himself from evil while alone from his family, despite it only being his brother and absent father. You crouched down when you spotted some masking tape on the foot of the bed as well, making up as some kind of nameplate. Out of curiosity, you pulled off the first layer, revealing another name that you guessed belonged to another boy who slept in this bed previously. You pulled off another piece of tape, and another, and another until you came across the one you had been looking for—Dean W.
Your head snapped away from the tape and to the door across the room when you heard rustling that broke your concentration. The door that led to the other room was opened slightly, giving you enough of a bad feeling not to go in there without some kind of precaution. Slowly, you pushed yourself back up to your feet and reached for the knife you kept tucked in the back of your jeans. You made your way over, taking cautious steps when you heard what sounded to be a whispering female voice. You didn’t take into consideration there might have been another bedroom located right next to the boys’, it was a small house after all. And it might have been Ruth’s. You discovered that a little too late.
You pushed open the door, expecting to find the thing who killed Jack standing across from you, only it turned out to be someone else. You quickly whipped the knife behind your back when you realized it was in fact Ruth. She had been kneeling at her bed before you scared her. "I am so sorry." You quickly apologized to the woman at the accidental mishap, suddenly feeling like a fool for mistaking her whispering for something evil when it was in fact most likely a prayer from the rosary beads that was tight in her grip. "I thought I saw something in—”
"Like a ghost?" Ruth's presumption made you look at her a little funny, wondering how she managed to come up with that conclusion on her own. "Sonny told me you were old friends, but I know why you're really here. That's why I was praying for us."
"Praying for what?"
"For the ghost that haunts this farm to leave."
Lost or Found - 24
Summary: As Jay, Hailey, Kim, Adam and Kevin start their junior year in the wake of a tragic summer, the past year of their lives comes back to haunt them. If you enjoyed Pretty Little Liars, this is for you! *UPSTEAD/BURZEK High School AU
...
24 - Evermore  ...
“Your dad should have killed you when he had the chance…”
Hailey whimpered, her eyes clenched shut and beads of sweat appearing on her forehead.
“So you want to play hero one more time?”
She flinched in her sleep, her heart beating out of her chest, so fast that she thought it was going to explode.
“That works for me.”
Hailey shot up, screaming. The last thing she saw was the barrel of a gun. She clawed at her chest, trying to get a good breath. “Hailey?” Someone yelled, and then right after, her Aunt appeared in front of her. “Hailey, it’s okay.” Trudy reached out to grab her hand, but Hailey pulled it back, looking at her with scared eyes.
It had been a month since she had heard those words muttered aloud, but they plagued her dreams frequently.
The two weeks following that day, all five of them took turns rotating through the police station. Everyday there were new questions, more people to explain things to, more statements to clarify, it was never ending. Then, it just stopped. There was nothing else they could do, they had to wait for trial. And in the meantime, Erin was placed in a psychiatric hold facility, and her lawyers were defending her actions as a symptom as psychosis.
It bothered them all, that technically she was free, all because they could blame her attempted murder on a psychotic break. Especially when Kelly Severide was looking at time. A few days after, two detectives showed up at Hailey’s house, wanting a full recount of the last five months, and that included the night that she was attacked. When Severide was questioned, he had no alibi and he confessed to strangling Hailey. His excuse was that he was threatened the same way that the rest of them were, only in person. He claimed that he knew Erin was alive the whole time, but she threatened to kill his mom and sister if he didn’t cooperate.
Unfortunately, the only way to corroborate the story for a jury is to prove Erin mentally competent, meaning she was capable of carrying out her threats. To all involved, even Kelly, it was clear that she knew what she was doing, she was a mastermind, but to everyone on the outside, they were just a bunch of teenagers wrapped up in a murder.
The girl that everyone thought was Erin still hadn’t been identified, they had to dig up the casket for the second time. The only way they were able to ID it the first time was by the previous fracture and bracelet, but there are a lot of people in the Chicago area that have broken their left wrist.
So, with no new information and the date for the trial to begin still months away, they all lived life normally. Well, as normal as it could be after everything they went through. And normal for Hailey meant waking up every night screaming.
Trudy looked at her husband, who was standing in the doorway. They shared a look, a very familiar one. They repeated the same steps every night, like some cruel rehearsed dance. Trudy waited patiently for Hailey to calm down, just seated on the floor next to her. “Hailey, sweetie, you’re safe.” She repeated.
Every night it was the same, Hailey would snap out of whatever daze she was in and apologize profusely. “I’m sorry, I got scared…” She started.
“Shhh,” Trudy said, placing a hand on her leg, “It’s okay.”
Hailey nodded, swallowing hard. “I’m good, you all can go back to sleep.” She said, glancing at her uncle.
Trudy just nodded, she learned many nights ago not to fight her on it, “Alright. Goodnight Hailey, we love you.” She said, squeezing her shoulder.
“Love you too.” Hailey said, watching them retreat back to their room. They left the door open like they always did, Hailey sighed rolling over and grabbing her phone. She sent a quick text to her boyfriend.
Hailey:      :(
It was a system that they started a few weeks ago. The first few nights Jay would stay up with her on the phone, or she would call him after Trudy and Randy finally left, but the lack of sleep began to play a part in their relationship. So, they decided that every time Hailey had a nightmare (or Jay, he wasn’t clean of them) they would text the other a frowny face, so that in the morning they would know what the other had gone through the night before without having to talk about it. It has proved to be useful.
Hailey laid down again, willing herself to close her eyes, but she couldn’t. Sleep was too vulnerable, so she laid there awake, just waiting for the sun to rise on (hopefully) a better day.
“What do you mean you haven’t picked out a costume?” Kim asked, as Jay slammed his door shut. Like every morning, they were all crowded around his truck, waiting until the last minute to head to class. The gossip still hadn’t died down, they were still the topic of every conversation, so they avoided it as much as they could.
Hailey shrugged. “I thought we weren’t dressing up.” She said, looking up at her boyfriend, who nodded in agreement. Halloween was tomorrow, and of course Kim had plans for all of them.
“No, I said we weren’t dressing up as the characters from scooby doo…” Kim said, giving Adam a pointed look.
Adam held up his hands in surrender, “Like I said, I’m sorry, it’s too soon.” He said, stifling a laugh.
Kevin rolled his eyes, “Yeah, you all know I’d have to be scooby. And I’m not dressing up like a dog.” He snapped.
“But Kev,” Adam said, faking a frown. “I thought you were my dawg.” Kevin glared at him, faking a punch as Adam jumped back.
“Anyway,” Kim started, looking back at Hailey and Jay, and ignoring the antics behind her. “I promised Stella we would all be at her party tomorrow night, you guys will be the only people without a costume.”
Hailey sighed, “Kim, we will get costumes, I promise.” Kim opened her mouth, but the warning bell cut her off. Hailey smiled, grabbing Jay’s hand. “We’ll see you guys later.” She said, before pulling him away.
“Please tell me you have costume ideas,” Jay said quietly.
“Nope.” They rounded the corner, Jay leaning down and stealing a kiss before they entered their classroom. Criminal justice was a little harder to sit through than it was before, but somehow Jay had managed to get his grade up.
They took their normal seats in the back of the class, waiting for the teacher to begin. “I have an idea,” Jay said, leaning on his hand.
“Okay?” Hailey said cautiously.
“I’ll be a firefighter, and you be a Dalmatian.” He said, wiggling his eyebrows.
Hailey scoffed, “No.”
“Okay. You be the firefighter and I’ll be the Dalmatian.” He said, smirking.
Hailey shook her head, “Try again.” Jay fake pouted, retreating back to his half of the shared desk.
Finally, their teacher decided to start class, cutting their conversation off for the time being. After about 30 minutes of notes, he passed out an assignment, leaving them to work on their own. Jay turned to face her, smiling. “I’ve got another idea.” He said, Hailey gave him a pointed look. “Squints and the lifeguard from the sandlot.”
“Why? So every time someone asks us who we are you get to lay on the ground and make me kiss you?” She questioned.
“Exactly.” He deadpanned.
“Jay-”
“Okay, okay.” He said, laughing. He loved it when she got all riled up. “Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, cause you’re so short-”
“Jay!” She said, smacking his bicep.
He laughed harder, “Okay, in all seriousness...we can be Jack and Rose from the titanic…” He watched Hailey’s face slowly morph into slight agreeance, “And Kev could be the iceberg.”
“I’m done with you.” Hailey said shortly, stifling her own laugh.
Jay laughed at his own joke, watching his girlfriend pretend to be aggravated with him. “You love me, you know it.”
“Unfortunately…” Hailey said under her breath. She took a deep breath, “What about Danny and Sandy from Grease?”
Jay smirked, “You in leather pants? Perfect.”
“You’re hopeless.”
The next day, Hailey sat in Kim’s bedroom getting ready. They had about an hour before the boys were supposed to come pick them up. Kim and Adam were going as Romeo and Juliet, while Hailey and Jay had finally settled on Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Kevin had grouped up with some of the boys from his team, they were going as zombie football players, very original…
“Kim, you’re going to have to do this.” Hailey said, laughing in defeat.
Kim smiled, taking over for her. She was waiting for her to ask for help, she’d been struggling to french braid her hair for almost twenty minutes. “I got it.” They sat there for a while in silence, Kim carefully laying pieces of blonde hair over the others, she glanced at Hailey in the mirror, noticing the blank look on her face. “How are you doing?”
Hailey’s head snapped up to meet her eyes, she caught her off guard. “Uh,” She shrugged, “I’m okay, I guess…”
Kim scoffed, shaking her head. “I’ve said that word so many times recently that I’m not even sure it’s a word anymore.”
“Yeah…” Hailey said, letting her thoughts wander. “I get that.” And she did, it was like she used the word as a shield. It was her response to everything, and she wasn’t okay, not that it was really a secret. None of them were okay, but saying it made it feel like they were. And deception was something worth clinging onto.
“You know, we never talked about-”
“We don’t need to.” Hailey said, cutting her off.
Kim eyed her cautiously, “Okay.” She wanted to talk, but she didn’t feel like she had any right to push Hailey to. Not after what happened. “Done.” She said, a few minutes later, taking a step back to admire her work.
“Thanks,” Hailey said with a genuine smile, picking up the jar of flower clips they had bought that morning. “You think I should just put these everywhere?”
Kim nodded, “Yeah, I think so.” She reached down, clicking shuffle on a playlist, a random Taylor Swift song playing. They were both done talking.
An hour later, the two of them were sitting in Kim’s kitchen talking to her mom when Jay and Adam arrived. Adam just let himself in the front door, Jay choked on a laugh as he waltzed in like he owned the place.
The boys appeared in the kitchen, “Honey, I’m home.” He said, passing Kim and hugging her mom. Kim rolled her eyes as they all laughed, Jay’s hand finding Hailey’s back like it always did. He was so happy, even though life was still crazy, he was ridiculously happy. Watching Hailey smile and Adam joke around like he used to (before they used it as a distraction) was so nice, and familiar and just so damn good.
Hailey peered up at him, grinning as he pecked her lips. “Alright, let’s get a picture so you all can get out of here.” Claire said, ushering them together. Jay stood next to Adam, both of them holding their girlfriends securely against their waists. They all smiled brightly, relaxing after the click.
They quickly bid their goodbyes, making their way out to Jay’s truck. Hailey slid easily into the passenger seat, despite her nude heels (that she was already regretting), while Adam and Kim got in the back. They pulled out of the driveway, and somehow Adam ended up with aux cord. Somewhere in between an old Maroon 5 song and the Weekend, Jay’s hand found hers on the center console.
Hailey looked down at it and smiled. It was a simple thing that they did every single time they rode together, but it really symbolized how much things had changed. Hailey thought back to the day that he kept his eyes trained on the road, back when she cut him off when he tried to apologize. It was only two months ago, but they were different, everything was different, everything was better.
 Jay followed her gaze to their conjoined hands, mimicking her smile. She didn’t have to say anything, he knew exactly what she was thinking. Part of him wishes he could go back and stay with her then, he felt like they had wasted so much time, but the other part of him knew that they were better for it. Neither of them were ready for what they have now, then. And what they have was worth the wait.
Finally they reached their destination, Jay having the park pretty far away due to how many people were already there. They got out, Jay rounding the truck to help Hailey down, even though she hadn’t needed it in a long time. The four of them headed towards the decent sized house, they could hear the music thumping from outside. Hailey slipped her hand in Jay’s, gripping his forearm.
Jay noticed the look of discomfort on her face, leaning down. “Hey, you okay?” He asked, eying her.
Hailey nodded, holding on a little tighter. “Yeah, just don’t want to get lost in the crowd.” Jay nodded, believing her lie. She couldn’t really explain it, but she had a terrible feeling in her stomach and the thought of being lost in a sea of people made her want to throw up. Even though it was over, Hailey still found herself looking over her shoulder and watching out for her. And even though all of that meant she was nowhere near being in a party mood, she wasn’t going to bring everyone else down, they all needed a fun night.
They made their way through the crowded makeshift dance floor, and found Kevin in a living area near the back of the house where he was sitting with Stella, Conner, Matt and Sylvie. “Hey guys,” He called, jumping up and clapping Adam’s back.
Stella stood, hugging Kim tightly, “I’m glad you guys could make it.”
Kim squeezed her, “Me too.”
Stella backed away, touching Hailey’s arm affectionately and giving her a kind smile that she returned. “I know it’s kind of crazy,” Stella laughed, “If you need something or just a break, the keys to the upstairs doors are hidden right under the doors, just inside the rooms.” She glanced at the obvious couples, winking. “I trust you guys.”
They all nodded, Kim blushing, a chorus of “great” and “thanks” sounding. The group dispersed, the five of them huddling up. “Obviously Hailey and I are gonna stick together, if we get lost, meet back here at midnight and we’ll head out?” Jay suggested.
“Sounds good,” Kev said, nodding.
Adam agreed too. “That works for me.”
That works for me…
Hailey flinched at those words, instinctively squeezing her eyes shut. Her breath caught in her throat. The image of a pulled gun flashing through her brain. She grimaced, trying to push the thoughts away. “Hailes…” She took another deep breath, doing everything in her power to keep her fear at bay. “Hailes.” Someone said, harsher, snapping her out of her daze.
“Yeah?” She asked quickly.
Kim eyed her cautiously, “I asked if you wanted a water…”
“Oh,” Hailey shook her head, “No, I’m good, thanks though.” She watched as Kim and Adam slowly disappeared into the crowd, her eyebrowed cinched together.
Jay stepped in front of her, blocking her view of the rest of the room, “Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked, concern clear in his bright green eyes.
Hailey nodded vigorously, “I’m good, I promise.” She said, his face didn’t change. He didn’t believe her. Hailey reached up, pulling him to her level and attaching their lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she deepened it, pulling him even closer. Jay did his best not to get lost in the kiss, but with her it was so hard. She pulled away slowly, peering up at him. “Jay, I’m okay.” Kim was right, it didn’t sound like a word anymore.
Jay sighed, admitting defeat. “Okay.” He laced their hands together, leaning down and kissing her slowly before guiding her to the dance floor. They stood near the edge, Jay’s hand sitting on her hips as they swayed in sync to the fast music. They danced for a while before some of Jay’s teammates interrupted them.
Hailey stood securely at his side as they spoke, absently listening to the trashy rap music that was playing loudly throughout the room. “Fuck, shit, bitch…” The sound of a gun being cocked rang through the speakers and Hailey screamed. Suddenly the eyes of everyone around her staring at her. She was frozen in place, forcing the terrible memories away, but she couldn’t.
“Hailey.” Jay said, but her feet had a mind of their own and she was running towards the staircase, her lungs burning, she couldn’t get in a good breath. “Hailey!” Jay called after her, not even bothering to say goodbye to his team before taking off.
Hailey booked it up the stairs, dropping to the ground in front of the first door she saw, grasping aimlessly for the key. She slumped against the door, tears streaming down her face as she fought to breathe. Jay booked it towards her, crouching down and finding the key easily. He unlocked the door, then swept his hysterical girlfriend off the floor, carrying her into the room and setting her on the bed. She was still heaving in front of him, and Jay placed two hands on either side of her face. “Hailey, Hailey look at me.” He said, but her eyes stayed trained on his chest. “Baby, you’re safe, look at me, please.” She clenched her eyes shut, more tears falling down her face. When she opened them again, they met his and she launched herself into his arms.
Jay held her to him, rocking them gently as she cried into his neck. “I-I thought-” She stuttered, sobs wracking her body.
“I know, I know.” He said, trying to calm her.
“I thought it was over…” She said, and Jay felt his heart clench in his chest.
He ran his hand through her braided hair, no doubt destroying it. “It is, it’s all over, you’re safe. We’re safe.” For some reason that made her cry harder, maybe because she hadn’t for the past month, she had been bottling up her feelings to protect herself and everyone else. Because even though she was, she hadn’t felt safe in a long time.
Hailey pulled away after a long time, utterly exhausted. Jay couldn’t take the look of defeat on her safe, she looked so tired, so broken, that it scared him. How could he not have known how much pain she was in?
She couldn’t bear to look at him, so she kept her gaze fixed on her lap. He placed his hand on her thigh, and Hailey laid one on top of it. She sniffled, using her free hand to wipe the never ending tears from her eyes. “I’m okay.”
The following Monday, Hailey sat in the passenger seat of Jay’s truck. After the events of Saturday night, Jay had no choice but to loop in Trudy and Randall, he had to after he had failed to do so before. They spent the rest of the weekend convincing Hailey to see someone, to talk about everything they had been through.
It was probably the trauma left over from her parents, but the stigma that therapy made you weak was ingrained in Hailey’s mind, and convincing her to make an appointment was no easy task.
That’s how they ended up sitting in the parking lot of a private practice right after school, Hailey’s leg bouncing nervously up and down. Jay lifted their intertwined hands off the center console, kissing the back of hers. “I’m going to be here waiting, all I ask is that you go in there and try.” He said, rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand.
Hailey smiled softly, nodding. She leaned across the console and kissed him slowly, hoping that she was able to portray just how much love she had for him and trust she had in him through it. Jay pulled away, taking her in. “I love you, Hailey Upton.”
“I love you, Jay Halstead.” She said.
“Now, go kick some ass.” He said and she laughed, opening the truck door. She shut it, giving him one last look before walking inside the doors.
She sat down in one of the waiting room chairs after signing in, a few minutes later an older man with big glasses popped his head out of the back. “Hailey?”
She stood, “Yes sir.”
The man smiled, “Come with me.” He led her back to an office, gesturing for her to sit on the couch while he sat in the chair across from her. “I’m Dr. Charles, but you can call me Daniel or Dan, or really whatever makes you comfortable.” He explained.
Hailey nodded, shifting nervously. “So, how does this work?” She asked.
“However you want it to, we can talk or not talk about anything you want.” He said, leaning back in his chair.
“Okay,” Hailey glanced at the ground, “The-There’s a lot…”
“That’s okay.”
Hailey grimaced, finally looking at him. “Where do I start?” She asked.
Dr. Charles smiled. “How about the beginning?”
Hailey sighed, taking a few deep breaths, ready to start confronting all the demons that she had been fighting for so long.
“Tell me everything.”
...
A/N: This is long but please, please, please read it!!
First, this is the end of this story, but it is not THE end! There will be a sequel and if you want to see a sneak peak, you can find it HERE. I am so so excited to continue exploring this version of these characters, and don’t worry, the next installment will be just as exciting as this one!
Second, thank you so so so so much to everyone who has shown love to and supported this story. It really means the world to me, you have no idea. This has been such an amazing experience and I have learned so much from writing this, so thank you so much for reading. You guys are truly incredible, and writing has helped me through a tough time in my life. I’m going to say thank you a million time, but thank you, thank you, thank you <3
This story evolved so much lol: in the beginning I had no plan, and then it changed like five times, and we ended up here, so here’s a few things that didn’t make it in.
Nadia was supposed to die in chapter 19, but I decided against it…
I debated Kevin and Stella getting together, don’t hate me for this ahaha
I almost made Kim lose her hearing, but I wasn’t sure I could do the storyline justice with everything else going on
I debated killing Adam (I’M SORRY, i’m sorry…)
And finally (cause you don’t need to know all of my secrets) I ALMOST broke up Upstead at the end
Anyway, there’s some behind the scenes action if you’re interested.
Back to the point: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING ME AND THIS STORY, I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, and i cannot wait to embark on this next journey together!!
So much love,
Anna
Song #6 and Derek/Ryne? Not as a reader-insert 😘😘
A/N: I have a confession: I cheated. But only because the song that came up was Alan Parson’s Project’s “Cask of Amontillado” and uh...I don’t really see Derek or Ryne walling the other into the basement. Anyway, new song is “This Isn’t Love” by Karliene. Word Count: 432 Rating: T - canon typical language, angst, implied but vague bad past relationship
Ryne’s movements, or lack of them, caught Derek’s eye as the latest couple got out of their car. He frowned, watching her go pale as she stared, wide-eyed, at the man who wrapped his arm around the young, attractive blonde. He handed his keys over with a smile.
“Thank you young man,” his tone was passive-aggressively polite (as many of them were). Then as they walked past, he spotted the girl with them, and he looked momentarily as shaken as she was. “Kathryn...how...it’s good to see you. It’s been...quite a while.”
She remained stiff and silent where she was, nodding curtly after a long moment. Derek exchanged a puzzled look with Sean who shrugged. After the couple had gone inside, Sean volunteered to be the one to “park his car,” giving Derek a moment with his girlfriend.
“Ryne,” Derek said softly, taking her hand, concern deepening as he felt her trembling. “Baby girl, what’s wrong?”
She opened her mouth and closed it again several times, struggling to find words and force them through lips that felt numb. Tears welled up in her eyes, and his arms wrapped around her just in time. He held her close, her face pressed to his chest just as a sob slipped out of her throat, the first sound she had made since whoever the guy was appeared. Derek pressed his cheek to the top of her head, letting her cry and cling to him. He hated this, hated that guy, even without knowing what happened.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled eventually, still sniffling, wiping at her puffy eyes. “I just…”
“Who was he?” Derek was afraid to ask, but felt like he should anyway, part of him needing to know why the mere sight had been enough to shake her so badly.
“He’s...he…” she shook her head, looking guilty and voice barely audible. “I can’t, Derek. Please don’t ask me to…I’ll tell you another time but not...not tonight, please?”
“Okay, baby girl,” he drew her into another hug, less tight than the last. “Whatever you want.”
She snaked her arms around his waist and rested her cheek on his shoulder. “Thank you.”
“Of course.”
Just then his phone rang.
“This guy is technically close enough that I could hit his place,” Sean said, “what do you think?”
“I know you’re really callin to see if Ryne’s alright, man,” Derek said bluntly, glancing over at her questioningly. When she nodded permission, he made a quick decision. “She will be, but listen, dawg, this guy’s a total douche. You got time. Fuck him up.”
Integrity- Chapter 8
Ao3 | FF.net
Monday morning rolled around with a cool, all encasing fog. The gray mist that settled in between buildings, blotting out sunlight, and casting a refreshing coolness on everything blanketed underneath it.
It was glum.
Ladybug had escorted Gabriel to the police last night, as they had planned. Though he was drunk, Gabriel was well behaved. This allowed Ladybug to convince the Police to stay quiet about his arrest. Of course, it was inevitable that the media would catch wind of it, and it would be all over the news.
But she just wanted to have a few days to prepare to announce it herself, and to give Adrien some time with his mother.
He hadn’t come home last night, not that she expected him too. He may be gone for the rest of the week. Maybe longer. She couldn’t blame him for staying away.
She just missed him already.
“Hey Marinette,” Alya greeted warmly. “Where’s Sunshine? He’s gotta get rid of this fog!”
“Yeah dude, where’s my dawg?” Said Nino.
Marinette smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. How much truth could she spare? This was Rena Rouge and Carapace after all. Surely they were trustworthy. Would Adrien mind?
“Um…he’s with his mother.”
Nino and Alya just stared at her, dawning horror creeping on their faces.
“He’s dead?”
“No!” Marinette scrambled to explain. “No, no…We found his mother yesterday. Well, he found her a few days ago, but we couldn’t do anything about it until last night.”
Alya blinked a few times. “Okay girl, you lost me. You often lose me, but this is like—a whole other dimension. Can ya back up a touch?”
“I’ll tell you guys everything after school, but you have to promise me not to tell anyone.” She leaned closer. “This is just as secret, or even more so, as your secret identities.”
Alya rapidly blinked again. “Wh-what?! What are you—how do you—What!?”
“That’s all I’m saying for now.”
“You can’t just leave us there!”
“That’s all that’s safe to say here. Just...just trust me. Okay?”
Alya took a long breath. They’d been through this before. Her trust was constantly being tested by Marinette. The absences, the tardiness, the forgetful ‘oh I have to go water my hamster’ ness. “Girl...I did trust you. But...are you going to finally explain what’s going on?”
“Yes. I’ll tell you everything. If you’ll just be patient with me.”
Alya exhaled, her shoulders relaxing. “Okay. I think that’s worth it.”
They travelled together upstairs and into the classroom, where several other students milled about quietly. It seemed they hadn’t recovered from the turmoil from last week.
Faces turned to her, weak smiles in place. Sincere enough, but lacking luster. She didn’t really blame them. She felt like that too.
After some time, Miss Bustier arrived, and settled everyone in their seats.
And then there was a knock at the door.
“Come in.”
Miss Bustier invited in the devil, and the mother of the devil.
Lila. Lila was here.
“Hello, Madam Rossi, are you vouching for Lila’s tardiness?”
“On the contrary,” the woman said coldly. “Lila won’t be attending your class anymore, or this school, for that matter. But before we leave, I wanted to make sure she apologized to those she wronged.”
My my, what an interesting turn of fate. Lila stood in front, arms crossed, and full of spite.
“Where’s Mr. Agreste?” Madam Rossi asked.
“He’s not here,” Marinette supplied. “He’s visiting family.”
“Ha!” Said Lila. “That proves it! If he wasn’t guilty, he’d be here!”
“Hush, Lila. I’ve heard enough from you.” Her mother spat. “You, what’s your name?” He looked at Marinette.
“Uh, Marinette Dupain-Cheng?”
“Marinette—first of all, I want to apologize to you and your mother. She called me with concerns and I blew her off. In fact, I didn’t know there were any problems until I received a court summons at my workplace. Not only was my daughter lying to me about her after school activities, but she lied about the school being closed to take an extended vacation!”
There were scoffs of disgust from around the room.
“Mama...” Lila whined.
“I said be quiet, child. Your lying has gotten too far out of control and I’ve had enough of it. It’s time your friends knew the truth. And you’re going to tell them. Now.”
Lila swallowed. “Um...I didn’t actually go with my mother abroad for several months. I was at home. I told her the principal was akumatized and the school was closed.”
“Now, about Marinette?”
Lila groaned. “Marinette was right. I didn’t bully her at all. I made all that stuff up...”
“And regarding Adrien Agreste?”
“Adrien...never touched me. I lied. I was mad because I was fired from Gabriel for harassing Adrien.”
“Anything else you want to get off your chest?”
“No.”
“Well, that’s a shame.” Madam Rossi huffed. “What do you have to say to Marinette?”
“...I’m sorry.”
“For?”
“For lying.”
“Not good enough, Lila. Try again.”
Lila hissed, like apologizing was actually, physically painful. “I’m sorry for tattling on you to your mom. And I’m sorry for trying to get you expelled.”
Marinette pushed her luck. “...and for turning my friends against me?”
“AND for turning your friends against you.”
Eh. Good enough.
“Now, Marinette,” said Madam Rossi. “Lila must apologize to Adrien, but she’s being sent back to Italy right away. Will you record it and make sure he sees it?”
“Of course, ma’am.” Marinette took out her phone and turned on the camera. “Ready when you are.”
Madam Rossi nudged her daughter in the ribs.
“Adrien...I’m sorry I lied about you touching me. I’m sorry I lied to get into modeling with you. And I’m sorry I kissed your cheek without permission...and I'm sorry I spied on you.” With a little shrug, that’s where she ended it.
Marinette stopped recording and leveled a glare at Lila. “You’re not really sorry, are you? You wouldn’t think anything was wrong if your mom wasn’t here making you apologize.”
Lila didn’t answer, but her dead-eyed glare spoke volumes.
“You’re a psychopath.”
“Oh you think you’re so smug! Just because my lies caught up to me first! But you’re just as much as a liar as I am, aren’t you, little miss goody goody?”
Maybe she was being petty. Maybe it was adrenaline. Or maybe she really didn’t like being called a liar.
Either way, she held back just long enough to look in her purse.
Tikki gave her a firm nod.
Time to be selfish.
“Tikki, Spots on.”
In a whirl of pink, Ladybug sat in Marinette’s seat and the room went dead silent.
Except for Alya, who was making some choked wheezing sounds.
“Happy now, Lila?” Ladybug said calmly. “Yes, I lied, and flaked, and ditched my friends. I hated every minute of it, but I knew fighting akumas came first, and everything else came second. I couldn’t tell a single soul until Hawkmoth was defeated. Not even my partner.” She leveled her gaze on Lila. “But you? You just lie because you can. You have no plans, you just lie and then lie again when someone calls you out on them. You don’t care. You never cared. All you care about is yourself. That’s the reason you got caught. I chose to reveal my secret because it’s safe now.”
“Shut up!” Lila barked. Then she actually threw a punch at the hero of Paris.
Naturally, Ladybug dodged it like she had been moving in slow motion.
“You’re the worst! This whole time I thought there were two stuck up, nosy, holier-than-thou bitches in Paris. But now I see it’s only one. You don’t deserve your fame or your powers! I could have had everything! Popularity! Friends! Adrien! Fame! Even powers like Hawkmoth promised me! But you had to ruin it for me! You always ruin everything! I hate you! I hate you!!”
“Alright, we’re done.” Said Madam Rossi. She wrapped her arms around Lila, as she continued to wriggle and scream. “I see now that Italy isn’t going to be a good idea either. We’ll find a nice, quiet...resort for you for a little while.”
But Lila just continued her screaming and kicking. Her mother had to forcibly pull her from the room.
The door shut with a slam, Lila’s tantrum muffled down the hall.
And then, Ladybug stood there, keenly aware of the actions she had just made in front of all her classmates. Even Miss Bustier was slack jawed.
“I expect all of you can keep a secret of this magnitude. It would be best if you never even saw me transform.”
Still silence. But Marinette dropped her transformation and sat down.
Alya was the only one able to find a voice. “Why now? What changed?”
“It’s safe now.” Marinette explained. “Relatively speaking. I’m certain that there’s people out there who still want to hurt me. But if we all keep this to ourselves, I see no harm.”
“What about Lila?” Asked Alya.
“Well, she does have a track record for faultless honesty. Who wouldn’t believe her?” Marinette said sarcastically.
“Safe?” Nino asked, finding his voice. “Safe how?”
It was the sweetest truth in the world. “Chat Noir and I defeated Hawkmoth.”
The sentence was like electricity, jolting the room with excitement, cheers, and hugs. Students scrambled to hug her in gratitude.
“How?! When?!” Barked Alya. “There was no akuma! How did this happen!?”
Miss Bustier sat at the edge of her desk, resigned that there would be no learning today, but she really didn’t mind.
“Espionage.” Marinette said, matter-of-factly. “And to be honest, it was mostly Chat. We just officially arrested him last night.”
“Who was he? How did it happen?! I need details!” Alya nearly screamed and grabbed her by the collar and shook.
“Alya, calm down.” Marinette laughed. “I’d love to tell you all the details, but…I haven’t told anyone else yet. I have to address the public and write a speech…but I don’t even know where to start…”
Miss Bustier clapped. “Marinette! I have an idea!”
She looked to her teacher, skeptical. “Yes?”
“A writing assignment for the class. You give us the details, everyone will take notes, and we’ll help you write the speech! It would be an excellent exercise for writing from an interview.”
Marinette paused, crossing her arms and looking forward towards Adrien’s seat.
Again, the news about Gabriel was going to be public at some point. If she could get it out quickly before the other media beat her to it, she might be able to manipulate the story in her favor. As angry as she was with Gabriel, his motive was fine, and he showed…remorse? Maybe he could be redeemed and maybe Adrien could have his family back one day.
“As long as everyone promises to not talk about it to anyone, I don’t mind sharing the details.”
There was another cheer around the class as everyone gathered their phones and notebooks to take notes.
Miss Bustier clarified for everyone, “If you’re recording Marinette, the video promptly gets deleted after the assignment is over. It does not get posted on any social media, or get sent to anyone. This is for Marinette’s safety, do you all understand?”
“Yes, Miss Bustier!” Called the class, unanimously. After the dreadful behavior with Lila, no one was eager to get on Marinette’s bad side again.
Marinette stood at the front of the room, recounting what had happened, with the smallest twist of having Chat Noir as a separate character. If someone did blab, Adrien’s identity would be safe.
“Adrien’s the hero of our story.” She began. “Gabriel Agreste was arrested last night at 10:30, coming peacefully and quietly. On Thursday night, he confided in his son, that he was in fact, Hawkmoth, and that his assistant was Mayura. He disclosed his purpose was to save the life of his wife Emilie, who had fallen mysteriously ill. He was under the assumption that the only cure was using Chat’s and my Miraculous. It is unknown where he got this idea from. Adrien was skeptical enough to flag down Chat Noir as he was doing a late night patrol. He explained the situation to my partner. From there, they waited until Monsieur Agreste went to sleep, before stealing the Miraculous off of him. Chat then delivered the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous to me, and further explained the situation. After consulting my resources, we visited M. Agreste and told him it was likely we could still save his wife without the need for our Miraculous. He then willingly gave himself up and apologized. He has been taken into police custody.”
“Excuse me, Ladybug,” Alya called out, just like in a real press conference. “What happened to Mayura? Is she in police custody as well?”
“I don’t know about that. The police are aware of her involvement, but she was fired by Gabriel earlier this week. She wasn’t with him when he was arrested.”
“Are you going to go after her?”
“No. She no longer has a Miraculous. This is not a job for us anymore.”
Someone else raised their hand, Nathaniel. “How much do you want us to elaborate on Adrien’s involvement?”
“I only have Adrien’s best interest at heart. While I know he’d rather not be mentioned at all, I think it’s extremely important for the media to know that he was not complicit in his father’s actions.”
“Where is Adrien now?” Asked Chloe, more out of concern than for the assignment.
“He is with his mother while she gets treated. I won’t disclose that information to the public.” Then she added as a side note, “but if you want to know, ask me later, Chloe.”
Chloe just took a relieved sigh and nodded to her. It seemed all the previous animosity between her and Ladybug, or even Marinette, had faded with all this new information.
“Where are the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous now?” Asked Kim.
“Someplace safe.” Marinette smiled. “There’s no fear of someone else getting a hold of them.”
“Are Ladybug and Chat Noir retiring now?” Asked Rose, full of emotion.
“Ladybug will continue her patrols, and try to help around the city. I haven’t talked with Chat about what he wants to do.”
Alya raised her hand again, her eyes shining with excitement. “Any chance of auxiliary heroes getting to join you every once in a while?”
Marinette shrugged. “Perhaps.” There was no reason for them to, but with Gabriel behind bars, there was no reason for them not to. “Any other questions?”
The class was frantically scribbling down notes, but there were no more raised hands.
“I have plenty of off the record questions!” Alya called.
“I’ll answer those later,” Marinette asked.
“Alright,” began Miss Bustier. “These speeches will be due…Wednesday? Does that work for you, Marinette?”
“That should be perfect.”
“Wonderful. Then I won’t be giving anymore literature homework until then, because I want everyone to focus on this. Please write at least one page, double spaced. But more is fine. Ladybug has the right to edit whichever one she picks.” She glanced at the clock. “Goodness, that was almost the whole hour! I’ll give you the rest of the hour to talk among yourselves.”
While stories don’t typically have a happy ending in real life, Marinette was happy to note that things were working out nicely. The fog remained the rest of the week as Adrien stayed away from Paris. Juleka, of all people, ended up writing the most articulate, emotional, and accurate speech out of the bunch, and Ladybug presented it at a press conference with the Mayor.
Stories of all sorts of accuracies came out of it from the media, but conspiracies were loudly silenced, as Ladybug’s speech in full was available to everyone. Gabriel had yet to make any statements of his own, but his lack of urgency only lended itself to the official story.
It was over.
Gabriel’s trial would come in time, and Ladybug and Chat Noir would both be expected to testify, but the fight against Hawkmoth was over.
Despite revealing herself to her family and classmates, Marinette felt light. Unburdened, and guiltless. The raised grades were a bonus.
There was just one thing missing.
Adrien.
It had been a week since he stepped into that portal with his mother. He hadn’t taken his phone with him, but she never received a message from his baton. Not even a confirmation that he made it safely.
After several days of solid dependence and partnership, she missed him terribly.
Then finally, late one night, she awoke to a flash of light on her balcony. She was instantly awake, throwing open the door to investigate.
Belle Noir stood there, alone, and looking exhausted.
“Adrien?” She asked softly.
“Miss me, My Lady?”
“Unbelievably.”
Adrien dismissed his transformation and dragged himself over to her room.
“So what happened? How is she?”
“Still asleep.” He landed on her bed, and took off his shoes. “Not likely to wake up for a while still…but she looks better. They told me to go home, since being around her and watching was making me ill.”
“Are you alright?”
“Just need a shower and a good night’s rest. Can I sleep next to you? I really missed you.”
“I wouldn’t want you anywhere else.”
After showering and shaving, a nice clean Adrien flopped onto Marinette’s bed. He inhaled deeply. “Hmm, I missed this smell.”
“Weirdo.”
“Smells like bread and cinnamon and pretty girl.”
“Do you want to hear about all the trouble I got into while you were gone?”
“All of it…if I can stay awake.”
So Marinette told it all, starting on Monday morning with Lila, and leading all the way up to the speech, which she showed him on her phone.
“You just transformed? In front of everyone?”
She shrugged. “Not my brightest move, but Lila was accusing me of lying too…I just wanted to get it out in the air. I don’t regret it.”
“Did you tell anyone who I am?”
“Nope. I thought about telling Alya and Nino, but your identity is yours to tell. Or to keep a secret. It’s totally up to you.”
Adrien had his eyes half closed, the comfort of the bed and the warmth from his girlfriend relaxing him to sleep. “I have some ideas.”
“Care to share?”
“No. Too tired.”
“Okay kitty.” She giggled. Then she shuffled down to lay beside him, before he latched on and nuzzled her. “Hmmmmm My Lady.”
“Goodnight Kitty Cat.”
“Night. I love…”
“I love too.”
In the morning, Marinette woke up to an empty bed. For a moment, she worried that Adrien coming back last night had been a dream. But his suitcase was open and rifled through.
Confused, she got up and got dressed, and then came down for breakfast.
“Morning Miss Hero.” Sabine said fondly.
“Morning mama…did you see Adrien this morning?”
“I didn’t, but your father did. Said he got up really early to take care of some stuff.
“‘Stuff’ huh? Sounds vague.”
“I don’t know. But he said he’ll meet you at school. So instead of interrogating me, you can go to class and find out for yourself.”
“Oh I suppose!” Marinette said, dramatically. Then she took a seat at the table and started pouring herself some breakfast.
“They’re talking about the Hawkmoth story again.” Sabine gestured to the muted TV. “Some people are calling for a reinstatement of the guillotine.”
Marinette scoffed. “Yeah, maybe if there had been any lasting damage, maybe. But as it stands, no one died, no collateral damage…maybe some trauma I guess.”
“You’re being awfully defensive of the man you’ve been fighting the last year.”
Marinette shrugged. “I just…want Adrien to have his family back. I know Gabriel has to face punishment, and jail might even soften him up to be a better dad when he gets out. I just want him to be able to have his dad in his life…even if it’s just a little bit.”
“Even after all this, he doesn’t hate his father?”
“I couldn’t say.”
The fog had lifted. The morning sunlight was warm and bright, the birds chirped, the flowers bloomed. Adrien was back in Paris, somewhere, and all was right with the word.
Marinette almost skipped to school.
Half of her class awaited her by the steps, and when she came into view, they all started calling for her. “Marinette! Marinette!”
“Carry your bag to class?”
“Carry you to class?”
“Guys guys,” she laughed. “I’m flattered, but you don’t need to keep pampering me. It was fun last week, but we’re cool now, okay?”
“We just wanted to let you know that we were sorry and we appreciate you!” Said Rose, enthusiastically.
“I understand. And I forgive you. The cards, and the back rubs, and the foot rubs, and the manicures…I got it. But I don’t want our friendship to revolve around you guys just worshipping me. And I especially don’t want to be treated like this because of who I am. Let’s just…all go for ice cream this weekend?”
“Fine, but I’m paying for your ice cream!”
“No! I want to pay!”
Marinette chuckled to herself and led the throng of followers into the school. Maybe…one more week of being spoiled wouldn’t hurt. Right?
“Have you heard anything from Adrien?” Nino asked, as he asked everyday.
“Actually, I did! I’m fairly certain he’ll be in class today too!”
Nino pumped his fist.
“What should we do to make him feel welcome?” Asked Rose. “We were pretty crappy to him last time we saw him. After all he’s been through…”
Marinette looked over the remorseful faces staring at her. They wanted to make things right.
“I think apologies, hugs, and just being there for him will be enough. I think he’d appreciate affection, but not being treated like he’s fragile. He’s incredibly strong, you know.”
They all nodded, but she could hear them conspiring with each other about cards and a cake. She wasn’t going to fight them on this. Adrien needed his friends, and sincere ones at that.
Walking into the classroom, Marinette’s eye immediately fell on the very expensive handbag on her desk. Chloe sat at her own desk, admiring her nails.
“Is that—?”
“A Hermes Birkin Togo Handbag with gold Hardware? Why yes, it is.”
“Why is it on my desk?”
Chloe shrugged. “what, that old thing? I got it, but it doesn’t match my wardrobe, so I figured you would appreciate it.”
“But…this is new this season! It hasn’t even been released yet!”
“Well, it’s old to me. Give it to your mom if you don’t want it. It’s no skin off my nose!”
Marinette gave her a genuine smile. “Thank you Chloe, this means a lot to me. Especially after all that happened.”
“Are you talking about my silly little tantrum? Puh-lease. Even I’m not immune to the allure of pretty jewelry. But it won’t happen again, I’m over combs.”
“Well, I’m crazy about this bag, so thank you.”
Chloe’s mouth twitched before she said, “you’re welcome.”
Alya and Marinette spent the rest of the morning gushing over the bag, because regardless of who it came from, it was a nice bag. Miss Bustier came in and started the lesson.
It was then that Marinette realized Adrien still hadn’t shown up.
“I thought you said he was coming today?” Whispered Nino.
“I thought he was. He doesn’t have his phone on him anymore either.”
A few minutes passed before a black blur whizzed by the window. It back tracked and Chat Noir landed on the ledge, knocking on the window.
“Chat Noir?” Miss Bustier asked as Kim opened the window.
“So sorry I’m late! I was packing up some of my mother’s belongings to take to her later.” He stalked across the room, with Adrien’s bag draped over his shoulder. Then he stopped at Marinette’s desk, before stooping to kiss her on the lips. “Good morning, My Lady. Sorry I left without saying anything. I woke up early and I didn’t want to bother you.”
“It’s okay.”
“Claws in.”
And then it all clicked. The class went ballistic. There was screaming, hugs, well-intended punches, and overall excitement.
Miss Bustier rolled her eyes fondly. “Guess I’ll have to remove your absences too, to be fair.”
“Oh, sorry. When Marinette told me she revealed her identity to the class, I knew I had to too, and even more dramatically.”
“You’re such a goober.” Marinette teased fondly.
“But I’m your goober!”
any Belphie fans out there? this is for a current wip so it's a bit of a spoiler if any of you have read my sex pollen fic on ao3.... but I'm trying to get a grasp on Belphie bc I hate the in game progression of his hatred > immediate adoration of mc and severe lack of uh, consequences or any kind of conversation other than “no you were under a lot of stress belphie, it’s fine buddy”
so under the cut is a 550ish word snippet of a Belphie/MC conversation I'd like them to have and more garbled Belphie thoughts @ the bottom.
#uh, murder? (⊙‿⊙✿)
"That first night you wandered up the stairs to my room, caught up in your curiosity... you immediately didn't believe my story. I saw the suspicion in your eyes, and I wondered, why is she still helping me then? Is she stupid?" Belphie's expression is one of wry remembrance, as if he's picturing the night you'd met as he speaks.
"At the time, your intelligence mattered little compared to how it would feel once I escaped and killed you," It’s the first time Belphie’s mentioned his betrayal with such a casual affectation to his voice. You don't think he would try again, not with your pact, but to hear him mention it still makes your breath catch in your throat.
“And then I succeeded.” Belphie says, as if surprised, a slight tremble in his voice, “I watched Mammon cry and hold your corpse to his chest. I saw the horror in my brothers' faces. And I still felt right." A heavy, suffocating silence falls between the two of you.
"Tell me," Belphie looks at you as he speaks your name, "Is it possible to atone for murder?"
What could you possibly say to that?
"Could you ever truly forgive me? You were so quick to help me reconnect with my family, to say good morning to my face like I hadn't—" Belphie's eyes widen with shock as he remembers something, staring down at the chessboard. When his eyes glance back up at you, they're colder, more dangerous. This is the closest he's looked to the day he killed you, and it sends shivers down your spine.
"I didn't use my demon powers to kill you the first time in the attic, you know. You freed me from my prison—you were so trusting when you embraced me—and I strangled you with my bare hands," Belphie says, a strange awe and detached cruelty to his confession as he looks down at his palms. You try to remain calm; Belphie is trying to elicit a reaction from you, possibly? But you’ve been wrong before. Holding the pillow closer to yourself, you search for Belphie's true message amidst your own growing discomfort—
“And now," he barks with laughter, fervor picking up in pace as Belphie seems to boil over, all the tension between you since his return coming to a head, "You're seriously inviting me into your bed? Are you not afraid I'll snap and do it again, but that I'll be truly successful this time? I know my brothers are. They watch any time I place my hands on you with distrust, worried that the last time they touched you will be their las—"
"—Stop," you say, and Belphie jerks his head up at you, startled from his tirade with parted lips and eyes wide at what he's said, what he was about to say. Only now do you notice you're shaking, tears forming but not falling from your eyes.
"I'm scaring you," Belphie realizes, deflating instantly and leaning back in his chair. He takes a deep breath as he keeps your gaze, as if he’s realized the both of you are too far down this path to go back now.
Softer now, he says, "You have my oath—I'm yours to do with as you please. I am at your mercy, and yet, you've been nothing but kind. Why aren't you taking your revenge?" With the desperate ferocity gone, replaced by exhaustion, Belphie's voice can only be described as small.
"Is that the reason you made a pact with me?" You ask, quietly, and the impassioned severity has all but left Belphie as he leans over and covers his face with his hands.
"So I could take revenge?"
--
whooeeeee
I’m just so dissatisfied with the progression of him in game.. especially because if I lay out Belphie’s story/traits in bulletpoints, it REALLY appeals to me.
- heavily prejudiced due to personal trauma - add another dollop of guilt bc lilith only started going to the human realm bc belphie was fascinated w/them (is this canon or just a damn good hc I saw somewhere? I forget. either way, it feels so right.) - villain doing what they believe is right, just fuck me up dawg - is being saved regardless of what he wants lmao mc is like “all aboard the healing family relationship train, you fuckfaces.” @ all brothers, don’t @ me abt this. - straight up murders a character only to get the ultimate slap to the face that they were wrong the entire fuckin tiiiiiime, like god, the angst. -*waves hand in the air* there’s some other belphie thoughts but yeah -bee once told me that belphie is actually what lucifer claims satan is. smiles being fake/his personality a facade and I was like OUHHHH... - belphie and beel processed their grief differently. he’s just a depressed older brother that lost his sister and is so maladjusted emotionally he’s just... angry and cynical while beel took it and it made his heart so soft.... not that this is a slight against belphie (until he tried to go on a murder rampage at least) bc people just process things differently! - anyway this started as me trying to flesh out my belphie thoughts a bit more and it became a #beel appreciation post
if you have other takes on him, I’d love to hear it bc I’m still struggling to get him myself!!!
104 Words for 104 Days: Lemonade
It’s Candace appreciation hours! I wanted to do a Candace and Vanessa conversation because of CATU.
Jeremy looked so cute in his Slushy Dawg uniform. Well, he looked cute in any outfit, but the Slushy Dawg hat just added an extra layer of adorableness. Candace snapped a photo on her phone while Jeremy took a customer’s order, ducking behind the wall against her table before he could look up.
“Total keeper,” Candace giggled, unable to stop the high-pitched squeal that made people stop and stare like they’d never seen a teenage girl in love before. “The sunlight bounces off his hair perfectly in this one.”
She raised her phone again as Jeremy bagged several hot dogs, all wrapped neatly in tin foil. No wonder every Slushy Dawg manager in Danville and Mt. Rushmore fought over him. He was the best guy for the job with that award-winning smile.
“Hey, Candace. What’s up?”
Candace shrieked, slapping her hand against her mouth and almost losing her grip on her precious phone. She whirled around, her knee banging painfully on the table rim. Luckily for her, Jeremy was too busy to notice.
Vanessa was holding two medium-sized cups of lemonade, a purse and small wallet tucked in an awkward position under her arm. Despite that, Vanessa just radiated casualness.
Caught by the coolest and most mature girl she’d ever known. Candace mentally apologized to Stacy, wondering if she was breaking some BFF-practically sisters code for even thinking that way.
Candace leaned against the table, propping her head up with her elbow. “Yo, Vanessa. ‘Sup with you?”
She cringed as soon as the words left her mouth. Maybe that was too casual.
“My dad’s scheme involves chicken and waffles, so I got out of there before he could make the entire place smell like poultry,” Vanessa said, thankfully not commenting on Candace’s failed attempt at casualness and making things more awkward. “Mind if I join you for a while? I’ve got time to kill and a spare cup of lemonade here.”
“Sure thing! I’m just waiting for Jeremy’s shift to end. Then we’re going out for dunch. It’s like brunch, but it’s a cross between lunch and dinner,” Candace said as Vanessa settled on the opposite side of the table. Vanessa set the cups on the table, sliding the spare lemonade and a wrapped straw to Candace. She tucked her wallet into the purse, setting them in the space between her and the wall. Even Vanessa’s purse was goth with purple highlights. Just enough to get the point across without being overly edgy.
“That’s nice,” Vanessa said.
Candace glanced at the rest of the packed food court. She prided herself on people-watching, but she didn’t see anyone who looked like they’d hang out in the same clique as Vanessa. “So why do you have two lemonades anyway? I mean, it’s a great drink but-“
“-you thought I was a black-coffee-just-like-my-soul kind of person?” Vanessa finished. There was a tiny mischievous smirk on the corner of her lips.
Candace laughed, maybe a little too loudly. She caught herself just in time. “HA! I mean…no way! I would’ve totally pegged you for the latte type! Cause lattes are cool! And trendy! And hip! And…I’m gonna stop talking now.”
To her surprise, Vanessa laughed. “Joke’s on you. I prefer cappuccinos.”
“That was my second guess.” Candace covered her lie with a long sip of lemonade.
Please don’t call me out on not knowing the difference between lattes and cappuccinos. Please don’t call me out on not knowing the difference between lattes and cappuccinos…
“Anyway, there’s a new lemonade kiosk and I was thirsty,” Vanessa said. “Buy One, Get One Free deal this week to celebrate the grand opening. Tried telling the cashier I was by myself, but he insisted on giving me the extra cup because he didn’t want the owner-slash-mascot to accuse him of stealing corporate secrets for the orange juice empire, whatever that means.”
“Owner-slash-mascot?” Candace echoed.
Vanessa pointed behind Candace. Shrieks erupted from several families as a large man wearing a hat decked out with lemons jumped onto their table, disregarding the half-eaten burgers and fries. Whatever lunch was left was quickly snatched away before the man trampled them underfoot.
“BOO-YAH LEMONADE IS IN BUSINESS, BABY!” he screeched, pumping his fists into the air and being oblivious to the crowd’s general annoyance. “GET ‘EM WHILE THEY’RE COLD AND FRESH! LEMONADE RULES, ORANGE JUICE DROOLS!”
“Mall security team to food court! Code Yellow! The owner-slash-mascot of Boo-Yah Lemonade is being annoying again! I repeat, Code Yellow!”
As a mall security team thundered up the escalator, the man leapt off the table and shoved people aside in his hurry to get away.
“I’M A PUBLIC NUISANCE FOR THE GLORY OF LEMONADE!” his voice faded away as he ran into the nearest department store. The crowd parted to let the mall security team through, then went back to their regular weekend at the mall schedules as if nothing had ever happened.
Vanessa swirled her lemonade with her straw. She was probably too used to craziness to be affected much. “So have you watched any of my DVDs yet? Have you gotten to Le Coeur Noir De Douleur et de la Tristesse Douce?”
“Is the goat head supposed to visually indicate the woman’s headstrong nature?” Candace asked. She wasn’t mentioning that she couldn’t pronounce the foreign film titles at all.
Vanessa shrugged. “I thought it represented her childhood on the farm before the loan shark took away the goats as payment for her father’s debt, but your guess is pretty good too.”
“Real art is so confusing,” Candace admitted.
“Yeah, but that’s why it’s so fun,” Vanessa said.
Then Irving passed by their table, holding several large posters with two very familiar faces printed on them. Candace snatched a poster from the top of the stack, startling Irving into dropping the rest.
“Hey, what gives?” Irving grumbled, but Candace and Vanessa ignored his protests.
The poster featured her brothers, an elaborate outdoor battle arena as the bustworthy project of the day, and their backyard as the location. The three prerequisites to any bust.
Dunch would have to wait. It was busting time now.
“Could you tell Jeremy I need to go bust my brothers? He’ll understand,” Candace asked. She tried to fold the poster for easy carrying, but it was too large for her purse and her skirt lacked pockets. Then she crushed her empty lemonade cup and dropped it into the garbage can. “I’ll come back when I’m done.”
“Alright. Nice hanging out with you.” Vanessa waved, and Candace almost tumbled down the escalator in her haste to return the gesture, keep the poster from being ripped, and call her mom at the same time.
But she managed to speed-dial her mom, cackling maniacally as she tore through the mall and weaved around shoppers, only managing to lose a third of the poster in the process.
“MOM! PHINEAS AND FERB ARE HOSTING A HOLOGRAPHIC BATTLE ROYALE BETWEEN ALL FOUR PLAYING CARD SUITS!”
o-o-o-o-o
Vanessa walked up to Slushy Dawg once the line of customers thinned. Jeremy wiped a spot on the counter, smiling brightly before she even got to the register.
She could see why Candace was so enamored with him. Jeremy was either a really good actor or just oddly calm when it came to retail. No wonder Candace felt comfortable enough to push back the time on short notice.
She never could’ve done that with Johnny, and she and Monty needed to coordinate timing on their dates to avoid parental outrage.
“Welcome to Slushy Dawg! May I take your order?” Jeremy asked.
Vanessa shook her head. Slushy Dawg would never get any better, but she kept that comment to herself. “I’m not ordering. Just here on Candace’s behalf. She’ll meet you for dunch once she’s finished busting her brothers.”
Jeremy chuckled. “That’s Candace for you.”
“She’s really running all the way to the suburbs?”
“Candace has a lot of endurance.”
“That’s really cool,” Vanessa said.
“I know, right?” Jeremy beamed.
Candace was so lucky to have an understanding boyfriend. It was definitely a breath of fresh air from what she usually dealt with.
WWE Wrestlemania 37 Day 1 - Review
Tumblr media
Big Card, Not so big build
But it is that time of the year, we Stood, we Delivered, and now we shall Showcase for the Grandest Stage of them All
I got hyped for it by watching Bret vs Owen so I do have expectations, I haven't been spoiled too much save for the Main Event and the fact that there was storms that delayed the event, I dunno if they cut that content but we shall see Note: I am gonna bold who I predicted to win per match as well just to show how right/wrong I was
Spoilers for Wrestlemania Night 1, You Have Been Warned
Pre-Show The opening panel was not so great; Booker (with a captain Hook moustache), JBL, Lawler and Rosenberg, bunch of contrarian drivel really and trying to make Braun/Shane out like it deserves on the card just doesn't sit with me, that match robbed a potential Father/Son Tag Title Victory for the Mysterios (I know the Dirty Dawgs won on SD but I feel like they wouldn't have retained if it were Mania). Most of the promo packages were good at the least since they can cut out all the shoddy booking decisions and act like some stars were underbooked over the past year. I will say though, selling BelAir and Banks as 'the first time a women's singles match has main evented Wrestlemania' is a bit of a slight on the triple threat - which would've been 1v1 if Vinny didn't want to be adamant in adding more feathers to Charlotte's peahen plumage - it was still a singles match, sometimes WWE's desire for 'first time evers' are a bit insufferable. Also this is not 'the most important match of Cesaro's career', that is a terrible thing to say about a non-title match revolving around Rollins feeling embarrassed. The Hall of Fame recap was a mixed bag as well, mainly because I disagreed with some of the inductions and the way they tried to sell them bigger than what they are, but I was glad for some - Liger, Bulldog, Molly Holly, Kane...still waiting on Lillian and Andy Kaufman to get inducted though. Sonya also popped up to promote the tag turmoil and retreading the main event, she was super natural and should've been on the whole panel, or in the ring. Sonya's talents are wasted right now.
No Match though! An Hour of Recap lacked any entertainment seeing as we'd see all these promo packages again on the main card. So overall this was entirely skippable.
Main Card...Delayed Vince opened the event to address the crowd, which was kinda nice actually. It was a much more inclusive introduction than just having someone singing America the Beautifu-oh they're still doing tha-boooooooobs! It's also kinda weird looking at the roster not even on the card on the stage, like this is their only contribution for the entire year...
The intro package was a big obnoxious too, dude does an okay Jack Sparrow accent but it kinda went on a bit long, 10 minutes into the main show and there's no wrestling y'know?
Byron out with a super white suit as well, looking like Liberace as weather warnings echoed the arena, with news that it'll be worse tomorrow I hope that arena has a roof. With the delay WWE pulled with interviews, Big E even showed up to join his New Day buddies. Cole's 'Wrestlerainia' did not land and Braun saying 'I'm fighting for everyone whose been bullied' doesn't land either, we had this story with Nia and Alexa years ago. I also hate 'Herstory', like the literal word I hate it, History has adapted well beyond gender. Sure, it evolved from the Greek Histor which means 'wise' or 'a learned man' but the His is not the agent noun, the Tor is, and it's a gender neutral noun, if it were a Latin root then it'd be masculine but its root is Ancient Greek - there's your Etymology lesson for tonight.
The irony though, the moment fans get back in the arena they have to come back out because of rain.
Main Card - This Time Around Titus and Hulk came out as hosts to ramp up the crowd, it was kinda uncomfortable in context really, plus we don't need a third rundown of the card. Reminder that those in bold was who I earlier predicted to win.
WWE Championship - Bobby Lashley [w/MVP] (c) def. Drew McIntyre (Ref Stoppage Submission via Hurt Lock) Starting hot with the World title match again, bit odd to see Lashley do his point pose on the ramp and no pyro, but both men fixed their eyes on each other and barely looked away. Their history goes beyond WWE after all, not that the commentary would tell you. The did come out with a ton of falsities though, I know the WWE Championship was at several times the most prestigious belt in wrestling but not all the time in that 60 years, Big Gold Belt, IWGP and 10 Pounds of Gold had times too, AEW also can tout that, but Cole's most baffling claim was that you'd need to win it to be a Hall of Famer - on the same year Bulldog who never won a world title was inducted. No quick draw like last year, the match started with some meat slapping, Drew even gesturing a fuck you with the Bras d'honneur to Lashley after knocking him down. Both men would trade blows and advantage, Drew almost locking an armbreaker but Lashley clubbing free - very weird camera cutting there. Lashley hit 2 throws and a neckbreaker to regain the advantage, he didn't get the Futureshock but he hit a nice Northern Lights Suplex. Lashley hit his newer version of the Dominator and an Uranage but both only kept Drew down for 2, he almost got the Hurt Lock as Drew fought back with some blows and a front-facing Alabama Slam, he tried a superplex but Lashley fought out, tried a kimura but got knocked down, so he went for the Tree of Woe throw he does. Lashley gets him with another Uranage but Drew kips up, belly to belly, Futureshock, Futureshock, Futureshock! 1, 2, No! Drew calls for the Claymore but Lashley rolls out, MVP coming late, Drew then does a Tope onto both. He goes up top but almost gets caught with the Hurt Lock, an Exploder and a Flatliner puts Lashley in the driver's seat, he tries for the Hurt Lock again but is driven into the Turnbuckle, Drew then locks in the Kimura but Lashley gets to the ropes. After trading shots Lashley lands into a boot and a headbutt, Drew looks for the Claymore but MVP shouts to distract him, allowing Lashley to dodge and get the Hurt Lock in, Drew tried to fight back, tried to roll out of it by kicking the turnbuckle but Lashley cinched it in tight, fading, fading, and the ref calls the bell.
A very good opener this one, big men slapping meat can hardly go wrong. Not too many false finishes either and MVP only psyches Drew out rather than got fully involved. It was right for Drew to fade rather than tap too. First prediction wins, I did think it was a risk but I expected it because WWE had sold the idea that they wanted Drew to win in front of a crowd, but he had held the title for most of the year, so I anticipated the swerve. Still, we didn't have to break up the Hurt Business for this, hopefully Lashley gets more time to shine.
As Lashley celebrated with some strange camera switching we moved to Titus, the NWO and a Bayley segment. Bayley trying to sell her Ding Dong Hello and being denied some Two Sweets, a huge waste of Bayley's talents especially with the year she has had.
Tag Team Turmoil for a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Championship on Night 2 - Natalya & Tamina def. Naomi & Lana, the Riott Squad [Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott], Billie Kay & Carmella and Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose (pinfall by Tamina on Ruby Riott via Superfly Splash) Props to Billie Kay selling the lack of cohesion in her and Carmella's entrance as they started the match against Lana & Naomi. Naomi started with the advantage but it was traded to Carmella when Lana was tagged in, then to Billie, then back to Naomi. A double facebuster flattens Billie but Carmella breaks the pin, after Carmella throws Lana out Billie rolls up Naomi - who is also strengthened by Carmella lying on the floor but using her feet to keep Billie up right - for 3, eliminating that team. Naomi is not happy, as she should be that was a huge waste, as the Riott Squad come in. Sporting Suicide Squad Joker (Ruby) & Harley (Liv) outfits, the Riott Squad start hot but are foiled by Carmella's tag. Liv is the feeder to Carmella and Billie's combos, they try the same rollup trick but they are caught by the ref, Carmella's dumped allowing Liv to hit a codebreaker and hold Billie down for Ruby's senton for the 3, the two embrace but Carmella superkicks Liv as Dana & Manda arrive in pink, Mandy humorously slipping on the ramp did not go unmissed. With Liv taken out Ruby tried to fight alone, Dana hits a top rope blockbuster but Liv comes back to break the pin. Dana hits a spinning neckbreaker and tags Mandy in, a pin for 2 by Ruby opens the door for Liv to be tagged in, a Codebreaker/Riott Kick combo lands but the pin is broken by Dana. Cole accidentally calls Mandy 'Dana' as she rallies, Dana comes back to dump Ruby out as they land the Superplex/Swanton combo on Liv, Mandy pulls Ruby from making the save but Liv reverses the pin for 3. The announcer then wrongly says that the Riott Squad were eliminated and has to be corrected, making you think this wasn't the plan. Natalya and Tamina pick up the scraps, Natalya tries a Sharpshooter but gets rolled up for 2, she drops Liv onto the ropes and tags Tamina in. Natalya hits a powerbomb but Ruby breaks the pin before being dumped out by Tamina again. Liv fights both women enough for Ruby to tag in, an assisted spear on Tamina leads to the Codebreaker/Senton combo but it hits for 2. They set up the Codebreaker/Riott Kick but Tamina yanks Riott away and superkicks Liv. Natalya returns to hit the Hart Attack on Ruby, looks to set up the Sharpshooter but instead tells Tamina to take point, Superfly Splash gets the win. The champions look on on a monitor at their opponents.
A bit of a mixed bag this one, the wrestling was clean but I think external botching brought it down, as well as questionable booking decisions. Naomi is a multi-time champion she should not be pinned so quickly. I did again correctly predict Nattie and Tamina, but I personally wanted the Riott Squad to win, it was the Heyman dressing down that motivated me to pick the Daughter Combo - also weird that they acknowledge Tamina's heritage given what Superfly did. The Riotts at least got a great showing, the finish took a bit of a long time considering that all Liv took from them was a superkick and was out for 2 minutes, hopefully this'll inspire booking to push them which is well overdue. As for Tamina and Natalya, heel vs heel is a tough one, they didn't look like babyfaces here and while I do have them to win the titles this was not a good look for their chances.
Cesaro def. Seth Rollins (pinfall via Neutralizer) Seth entered the ring with a homage to the Andre OBEY print on his tights, followed by his Cesaro smear ad, then Cesaro in a weird choice of just a black jacket as well as black and yellow tights similar to his Wrestlemania XXX attire.
Cesaro starts with a huge uppercut and setting up the Swing, but Seth wriggles out, tries a big boot but Cesaro hits the Dragon Screw and tries for the swing again, but fails again. Cesaro gets a corkscrew springboard uppercut but Seth hurts his arm on the ropes, he gets an uppercut as Seth climbs on the turnbuckle but he kinda didn't get all of it. Going for an Avalanche Gutwrench Suplex, Seth rolls out into a Buckle Bomb for 2, Seth then preys on the arm, Cesaro's arm prevents a rally as Seth hits the Superplex/Falcon Arrow combo for 2. Cesaro flurries with uppercuts, he tries the swing but Rollins keeps countering, first a rollup then going to ropes followed by an Enzugiri, when he tries the Stomp though Cesaro gets the swing, 9 spins causes the arm to give way but he locks in the Sharpshooter (probably why Natalya couldn't/wouldn't do it last match), Rollins gets to the ropes and powers out of the Neutralizer, knee strike and a sling blade sets up for a Corkscrew Frog Splash for 2. Seth sets up the Ripcord Knee but gets lifted into a Neutralizer! 1, 2, No! (Commentary saying again 'and now Cesaro begins to doubt himself), Cesaro tries it again but lands into a Pedigree! 1, 2, No!
Seth gloats surviving both of Cesaro's big moves, clubbing the back of Cesaro's head with his hand and then his leg as he prepares a stomp, Cesaro then hits the uppercut, UFO! Gestures for the Swing and gets it! 23 Rotations, Neutralizer, 3!
That's what I'm talking about! Indy Darling match with some great spots, good crowd involvement and a proper babyface win. Cesaro thanks the crowd as they cheer him on, Seth did show some great creativity which I kinda hoped Cesaro would but it was a small thing in otherwise a great match. I guessed with my heart on this one unlike the Tag Team Turmoil, because of my Universal Title plans really, Cesaro has been given the chance to earn the push we all know he deserves and he's took it, now we can push him further.
Post-match they recapped the AMBR and 4-Way, bit off to say 'Veteran Experience pays off' when Rey was the most experienced of them all, also the 4-Way should've been on the mania card and the tag turmoil on SD. They interviewed the Dirty Dawgs to talk the Raw Tag titles, which was a bit rough to see, it's clear what the pecking order is in Vince's mind.
Raw Tag Championships - AJ Styles & Omos def. New Day [Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston] (c) (pinfall by Omos on Kofi via Double-Handed Chokeslam TITLE CHANGE) Annoyingly the Champions came out first, but they were introduced by Big E, a Fusion Dance hologram graphic paired with their entrance as they came out in Red to rep the Tampa Bay Bucs in what would've been their 2020 attire, cheekily the 2020's last 0 was scribbled out and a 1 added. Blue trumpet though, couldn't recolour that. AJ and Omos came together too but no matching attire, Omos looked like he was going for dinner. AJ also looked like he stumbled a bit at the start.
Kofi goaded AJ into starting the match rather than Omos, leading to some liquid sequences from both former WWE Champions, each respectively rolling out of an SOS and Calf Crusher. After a back body drop Kofi stared down an unimpressed Omos, then twerked which hurt my soul. Kinda heelishly, Xavier tripped up AJ when a throat chop gave him a reprieve, leading to them keeping AJ in the corner, including the Unicorn Stomp as Omos continued to look unimpressed. Against Xavier AJ tried to drag him to his corner, but cannot get to Omos' halfhearted reaching. A team bulldog only gets 1 though. Kofi then continues to block the corner so AJ goes out of the ring to run around, only to be intercepted by Xavier. AJ continues to try and get to Omos, even being flattened by a splash by Kofi, when setting up their finisher though AJ elbows Kofi away, a visual exchange between the now free AJ and the top-turnbuckle Xavier preludes AJ finally tagging in Omos, Xavier frightened as Omos finally has a smile on his face. The 7'3 giant no sells Xavier's and Kofi's offense, charging into both on either turnbuckle, then a backbreaker to both. AJ then jumped over Omos to hit the Phenomenal Forearm to deal with Woods, Omos hit a two-handed chokeslam then pinned Kofi with one foot for the titles.
I didn't like this match's narrative, the wrestling was fine but the story wasn't done so well. For one, New Day acted more like the heels by bullying AJ and keeping him cornered, for second, Omos didn't really 'wrestle' he just no sold and did 3 safe moves and third, New Day are 11 time tag champions, Kofi a former world champion and they pinned him like that. Disrespect. The fact that the SD Tag Titles are second fiddle to a match where it's just AJ Styles plus the Great Khali, and that's Raw's Division right now, Two Thirds of New Day and this mismatch. This only highlights the severe lack of depth and WWE's booking hypocrisy. Next time you read about a 5 foot something wrestler not getting a title or a push because they're 'too green' or 'can't talk' remember that Omos won the tag titles on his debut match after doing a backbreaker, a turnbuckle tackle and a double handed chokeslam.
Humorous though is that WWE cut to a cringy Corbin ad break just as AJ was falling off of Omos' shoulders, I saw that WWE. We also cut to Sasha preparing for the match as the cage began to lower.
Steel Cage Match - Braun Strowman def. Shane McMahon (pinfall via Running Powerslam) The apathy for this match remains high considering that Shane showed up a couple months ago to steal a card slot from someone who could've been wrestling all year. Shane enters in his usual way, Braun with blinding fog and a train sound effect, cringy commentary as well as Shane keeps the door shut. Elias and Ryker soften Braun with chairs, attacking the legs and gifting Shane a chair who unloads on his grounded opponent. Once he feels he's done enough he tries to leave by the door, but Braun pulls him away, he tries to climb over the cage but gets pulled away, Braun declaring that he won't escape. Shane does his tacky jabs dodging Braun's wide swings, he tries to climb out again but Braun grabs him, but there's a planted piece of sheet metal that he uses as a weapon. After a 1 count Shane tried to escape through the door but fails, Braun decides to throw Shane into the cage walls, opening Shane to be struck by his blows and sandwiched between the cage walls, the leg gives out before the powerslam allowing Shane to ram Braun into the cage wall and DDT him, Coast to Coast gets 2 and Elias and Ryker climb the cage, hoping to pull Shane over, but Braun tackles the cage wall to knock everyone off. Shane makes the climb again but Braun is gripping onto him, bags are planted on the corners of the cage as Shane cracks Braun with a toolbox, as Shane celebrates he gets his leg over, he waves his hand through the cage at Braun but he grabs it, peeling off the cage wall to pull Shane back inside. Braun considers leaving but pulls Shane to the top of the cage, throwing Shane to the ring floor. Braun shouts at Shane, hits the running powerslam for 3.
It's good to be wrong here, though when I predicted Shane to win it was more a Pyrrhic win like being sent through a cage wall - because the build had Braun foolishly act like cage matches never have interference. This was a match, Shane planting weapons and using Elias and Ryker to prove himself 'smart' and Braun just powers out of it, the ripping the cage wall to drag Shane back in was a good spot - if not overly convenient since Shane could've dropped and gloated after - but it didn't need to be Wrestlemania.
Bayley comes back this time to the announcers table, bullying Cole out of his seat, but she's made to look stupid since Byron of all people tell her that they're waiting for the Hall of Famers, the HOF package happens again and the inductees able to attend appear on the stage, graphics of those who couldn't on the screen, NWO get their own entrance though with the NWO-painted Big Gold belt, bit unnecessary really they have enough spotlight.
Stone Cold announces the next mania in Texas in the AT&T Stadium, Booker then joins the announcer's table.
Bad Bunny & Damian Priest def. Miz and John Morrison (Pinfall by Bad Bunny on Miz via Crossbody/Electric Chair combo) A bunch of men dressed as bunnies hop into the ring before Miz and Morrison lipsync their diss track entrance. After the promo package Damian Priest makes his entrance, wearing the HBK Bondage shirt and sporting the purple, Bad Bunny appears atop of a Monster Truck in a pre-recorded segment with a lot of camera cuts, leading into the live version, looking like Rufus from Bill and Ted.
Miz and Morrison goad Bad Bunny to start the match so Priest tags him in, Miz mocks Bunny for a free shot and gets floored with a blow, waistlock and another punch, after a brief flurry Miz slows Bunny down but then gets caught with an arm drag, a toehold and a roll up for 2. Morrison attempts to snap Miz out of his frustration, but every offense he gets Bad Bunny comes back, this time with a spinning headscissors. Morrison's tagged in but gets headbutted, a 'bunny hop' jumping elbow, Miz's cheap shot leads to some heat feeding as Miz does some mocking bunny hops. He rolls over Miz for 2 but gets flattened with a boot, Morrison punishes Bunny on the announcer's table who then does a Spinaroonie while they continue to punish Bunny and incite Priest. Bunny gets a tornado DDT to open up the Hot Tag who cleans up house with strikes - more annoying camera cuts though. Chokeslam only gets 2 because Morrison breaks the count, Bunny comes in and both men hit stereo Falcon Arrows, both for 2, Priest does a tope, Bunny crossbodies from the top corner. Priest sets up his finish but gets caught with a Skull Crushing Finale, 1, 2, Bunny breaks the pin. Back into his corner Morrison tries to keep Bunny from being tagged, but Bunny hits a Canadian Destroyer onto Morrison on the outside of the ring, Miz and Priest awestruck. Priest sets up the Electric Chair, Bunny crossbodies and that's 3.
I may not know who Bad Bunny is, or particularly like his music, but he definitely meets the standards of the work celebrity guests should put in if they wanna be booked for a match. Bad Bunny did far much more spots than Omos, granted his punches flooring Miz was a bit unbelievable but overall he shone in an entertaining match, I feel bad for Miz and Morrison really, Miz was WWE champion about a month ago for a week and Morrison left at the top of Impact and AAA to come back for this? Maybe if he pairs up with his wife he'll get the booking he deserves. Also don't really know why Booker needed to be there on the announcer's table, aside from one mock spot and a GI Bro mention he didn't influence the match at all
SD Women's Championship - Bianca BelAir def. Sasha Banks (c) (Pinfall via KOD TITLE CHANGE!) And so comes the Main Event, the Royal Rumble winner comes out a sparkly EST outfit with tassels, Sasha with a black and neon green attire that definitely stood out. More shoddy camera cutting though kinda upset the flow of the entrance.
On Pre-Show - 'These two are in the Main Event regardless of Race, Regardless of Gender' On Main Event - 'For the first time two black women are having a title match on the main event at Wrestlemania' ...poor form WWE. Especially since you followed this with a Snickers plug.
The Bell rings as there are close ups on an emotional Bianca, duelling chants from the crowd as Sasha overpowers BelAir, leading her to kip up and get her own advantage, almost landing the KOD early. BelAir's power catches most of Banks' assault so she opts for counter-wrestling, she looks to count BelAir out but then decides for a Suicide Dive, but BelAir catches her and presses her back up the stairs and into the ring. Dropkick by Sasha gets 2, Bianca hits a powerslam but her handspring moonsault is blocked by Sasha yanking at the hair, using it as leverage to drive her knee into BelAir's head, Shining Wizard only gets 2. When Banks tries the knees in the corner she's planted with an Uranage, she tries to yank Bianca's hair into the corner post but Bianca powers her into it instead, a barricade crossbody also misses but the count is up to 6, both women roll in, BelAir uses an inside cradle to momentum herself up to a Vertical Suplex position, she slingshots 2 of the sides but Banks struggles, Bianca powers her back up but Sasha struggles again, BelAir powers again and lands the suplex but it takes a lot out of her. After clotheslining Sasha who was pulling on her hair, BelAir flurries with strikes and a running shooting star, Glam Slam hits but Sasha gets the knees up for the 450. The two trade pins and BelAir hits the Powerbomb for 2, she tries again but Sasha goes for a facebuster, Double Rotation Tornado DDT gets 2 for Sasha, a clunky Frog Splash which might've been a Meteora that Bianca was out of position for hits BelAir but only has 2, Sasha starts getting frustrated and goes for the arm, snaps it against the ropes then throws BelAir into the steps, she goes for the Bank Statement, wrapping Bianca's hair around her arm for added leverage, she tries to rebound off the ropes but Bianca rolls back to rope break, Sasha yanks the hair between the rope and stomps on her hair in frustration but this gets Bianca angry, she sets up a Superplex but is thrown off, she tries what looks like a Stratusfaction but gets locked into a Tree of Woe double stomp, Bianca avoids it and the running knee strike, landing the 450! 1, 2, No! Bianca freaks out, she was so sure that was it, but now the anger sets in, KOD set up but Sasha pulls the hair to right herself, Bianca cracks Sasha with her hair and tries again, but Sasha wriggles to try a Backstabber, Bianca escapes that, spins her around and lands the KOD, 1, 2, E.S.T.
A really good match from both women, met with a great ovation for Bianca. The match liked to prey on Bianca's hair a lot which may've been a little overdone, I would've liked to have seen it get a bit more than 18 minutes too. I predicted Sasha because I think Rhea's winning hers (I still do) and Sasha has once again yet to have a major Wrestlemania win, but I'm certainly not unhappy with BelAir - she put on a great performance here, especially with the fact that she fumbled her NXT Women's Title match against Baszler earlier, showing a lot more maturity and a strong face character to get behind. WWE should not have overdid the booking on this in the build but for the night, it is Bianca's night to close day one of WrESTlemania.
Conclusion NXT Stand and Deliver set a high bar for Wrestlemania to pull off, and for Night 1 at least I believe they definitely met it. There were a few downs, shoddy camerawork, non-wrestling botching and heavy mistreatment for Naomi, Bayley and the New Day but on the other hand we had great matches out of Cesaro, Bad Bunny and the other title matches including the main event, aside from the tag turmoil I'm not upset with the winners. Becky teased us with appearing before the show but it seems like it was a fakeout, was kinda hoping she'd be back but maybe it'll be Night 2
We will only find out on the night though, and there's a lot more to look forward to.
Dead Dawg Anon here: Either is fine. Or both.
"N-now c'mon Mister. Ain't no need t'be shootin' nobody." Arthur attempted to calm the man. FO: Alrighty~! I decided to go the fic route cause I figured it'd be easier than trying to come up with a whole list of HCs. It's just a brief interaction, but I hope it's to your liking~ :3
Welcome To the New Realm Cowpokes (pt 1) || Arthur Morgan meets Caleb Quinn (an RDR2 / DBD crossover fic)
Tumblr media
As the outlaw made his way down the dark, dank trail of the Entity's realm, he pondered just how in the hell he got to this place. The last thing he remembered he was jumping from a burning ship into the ocean during an escape from Saint Denis after a failed bank robbery. Next he knew, he was waking up in a strange place near a camp fire of some kind and several people he'd never seen before in his life. Only a couple of them introduced themselves to him, but he didn't stick around too long either. He wanted to try and figure out where he was and see if there was any way to get back to Dutch and the others. He needed to know if they had made it to safety. In the meantime, he was going to learn as much as he could about the place he was in right now. Arthur was so lost in thought he hadn't realized just how far he had strayed from the safety of the camp fire. He only looked up when the sound of a vulture caught his attention. He looked up to see a dusty road leading into what appeared to be an old Western town. It reminded of where he came from, drawing him in. He started down the road, admiring the scenery and the sky. Even though this place looked like a fight of some kind had broken out, it still brought him a bit of comfort in this strange world. It was when he laid his eyes upon the Dead Dawg Saloon that his interest was truly peeked. He cautiously stepped into the run down building, looking around and cringing a bit at the sound of the utterly out of tune piano, that appeared to be playing by itself. The place looked really beat up, a few dead bodies strewn about. He approached the bar, running his hand through the thick layer of dust on the counter. He was quite curious about this place, but his curiosity would quickly turn to apprehension when he picked up on the sound of heavy footsteps coming from the second floor.
Arthur immediately turned his attention toward the stairs, the piano suddenly going silent as he backed away and tried to find a place to hide. The bar was his only option, so he quickly ducked behind it and waited. He peeked out, keeping an eye on the stairs as he watched a shadow appear on the wall. If that shadow was accurate, the person making it was rather large in height. The inhabitant of this particular realm had heard the intruder enter and was on his way down to have a look around.
 The figure didn't take kindly to the Survivors encroaching on his territory, and even less so when it was another unwelcome Killer. As he reached the bottom of the stairs he brought his invention up to aim, scanning the room with a scowl on his face. "Frank. F’you 'r any a yer miscreant friends're in here again...You'll not be leavin' without a hole in ya." His tone was low and gravely as he spoke. Arthur's eyes widened a bit when he caught sight of the modified rifle the other man was holding. It looked as though it was fixed up to launch a barbed harpoon from the barrel, and...was that a...railroad spike for a bayonet? He did his best to quiet his breathing so as not to be heard, but this guy was definitely less than human looking. Arthur wasn't normally one to be scared easily, but the sight of the other cowboy with his quite intimidating weapon really did have him on edge.
The Deathslinger started to make his way around the room, keeping his gun at the ready as he looked for whoever had come into his saloon. The lack of any sort of clue was beginning to boil his blood. He knew he heard footsteps a moment ago. "Whoever's in here best be comin' out. Now!" Arthur thought to himself a moment before taking a deep breath in. This guy was like him it seemed. An outlaw or something of the like from a similar time as him. Maybe he could talk to him? Strike up some kind of deal? Surely he wouldn't kill him so long as he didn't break or take anything, right? He carefully moved to stand up from behind the bar, his hands raised defensively as he spoke. "I-I'm sorry Mister. I didn' mean no harm t'nothin'. I was just lookin' round for a way outta this place. That's all." At the sound of Arthur's voice, Caleb quickly turned on his heels and aimed his gun at the other. He gave a low chuckle before he spoke. "A way out? There ain't no way out boy. Death ain't even an escape here. Now I suggest y'leave m'property ‘fore y'get yerself hurt. Y'got about five seconds.”
 "N-now c'mon Mister. Ain't no need t'be shootin' nobody." Arthur attempted to calm the man.
"Five." He cocked his gun and raised it to his eye, closing the other to get a better aim.
Arthur quickly realized there would be no negotiating. He moved a hand to reach for his pistol, but to no avail. Not only had he lost it when jumping from the boat, but this world's 'Entity' had not allowed him to have anything. "Shit..." He muttered to himself. "Four." Caleb smirked as he slipped his finger over the trigger. "Y'better get t'runnin' boy." Arthur took the opportunity while the other man's vision was impaired from aiming. He acted fast, jumping the bar and swinging to try and punch him. That would prove to be a major mistake on his part. Caleb quickly countered by swinging his rifle and slashing Arthur's arm with the spike on the end. "Don't test me boy! I ain't gonna tell ya again! Get out, 'r get shot!"
Arthur cried out in pain at the slash, quickly bringing a hand up to cover the fresh wound. "C'mon fella..." He spoke with a pained tone. "I ain't here t'cause no trouble. Really. Maybe we could...talk things out...over a drink 'r somethin'...?" Caleb raised a brow in slight confusion. "Talk? Over a drink?" Was this guy serious? He sure was a strange one for a Survivor. Most of them stayed away, and the ones that did stray in occasionally normally got chased out before too long. None of them ever tried to negotiate or drink with him. Although, something about Arthur struck him as familiar. He reminded him a lot of home. He lowered his gun, putting it to his side for now. "Where you from anyway? Time-wise I mean." Arthur raised a brow in confusion. "Where...in time...?"
"Yes. Time don't exist here, n' everyone's from a different point in time." Caleb leaned against the bar with a huff. "So. Where you from?”
"Uh...eighteen ninety-nine... You..?" Arthur questioned back.
"Not long b'fore." Caleb smirked. "Y'know, maybe a drink 'r two ain't such a bad idea. Maybe we can talk bout the ol' days, but..." He stepped closer to Arthur, narrowing his eyes, "Try anythin' n' I won't hesitate ta shoot'cha."
Arthur made note of the other's threat as he straightened up. "Promise. I don't mean no harm. Just...want someone I can relate to...n' maybe try n' find a way outta here..."
"Already told’ja boy. Ain't no way out. All of us're stuck here doin' th'Entity's biddin'." Caleb brought his rifle up to rest on his shoulder as he walked by Arthur toward the back of the saloon. "Better see ta that wound. Ain't gonna heal much till ya die n' come back." Arthur turned to give the other cowboy a confused look. "Die...n'...come back...?" What was this place? Would he truly be stuck here forever? Would he never see his friends and family ever again? There were so many questions swirling around in his mind in this moment. He decided he'd likely be spending a lot of time here, getting to know this man and understanding this world.
