You know how in the early days of the internet, you had to pause long videos so that they could fully load to avoid it freezing and buffering?

Can companies stop removing that feature, please? Not everyone has good or consistent internet and that feature is still needed. My partner and I just rented a movie because we've been wanting to watch it, and it wasn't on any of the streaming services available in Australia. We paid $6 for it, and we can't watch it because it freezes every few minutes, and it doesn't appear to allow it to load ahead of time, since pausing did nothing.

Youtube does it now too, it'll only load a little bit ahead, so we still end up having to pause and give it a second on longer videos. Even if you leave it paused for an hour it'll still only load a few minutes ahead of where you are.

Tech companies, streaming platforms, entertainment companies, whoever, if youre going to force people to use online streaming to access your stuff, at least make it actually usable for folks outside of US cities, we dont all have speedy/stable internet, stuff like this is still needed.

Even if you ship Nika with Maps my expectations of your fanon are lower than hell (because you only start talking about them solely for dry shipping, not considering the characters' current state and situations in canon aka you don't care)

Good fanon/projections: 🔺Think for the characters, expanding their interests from the given canon information (I'm talking about working around it because you care for the characters, and you would recognize if there is any awful writing from the racist writer and putting it to rest). 🔺Add your own interests to the characters bc you feel deeply related to them and love them. 🔺Building up their relationship with their family, friends and lovers with care. 🔺Making interesting AU for them to build more for the characters, centralize their relationship with other characters, and have fun stringing the canon information to the AU situation and adding more nuances.

Bad fanon/projections: 🔻Racist stereotypes repackaged as a joke or a gag. 🔻Putting them in weird situations for the sake of angst and intentionally/unintentionally putting a harmful light on other characters (when in canon they would not doing all that sh!t). 🔻Proshipping (incest, pedophile)

Not really apply to crossover fanon (the type that involves other characters from another fandom) on the canon part, cause it usually ignores canon in multiple degrees on the get-go, and the reason why I'm not that interested/invested in it

Luke takes after Padme and Leia takes after Anak- NO. Luke takes after padme until a situation gains any kind of stakes and then he employs anakin's tactic of solving problems (breaking shit and diving headfirst into trouble), and Leia takes after anakin but she employs padme's problem solving tactics(diplomacy and patience until the situation becomes very, very dire).

Also just characterizing luke as padme and leia as anakin is disrespectful to all characters involved lmao. It becomes 'luke is a soft mannered boy who cannot do confrontations' and 'leia is a ball of rage who's gurlboss and closer to the dark side' when like. Padme and anakin are not like that, first of all, and also it's giving 'one emo twin and one preppy twin because we cannot portray different enough characters without highlighting surface traits to the max' energy in those cheesy sitcom movies.

Let them both be fiery and gentle and girlboss and soft and whatever else! The characterization comes from when they show these traits, not from which traits make up their whole personality.

Going to have a little grump fest here but

I spent my lunch break going to the local Gong Cha because their delivery app said they had the collab drinks. I get there and that girl had no fucking idea what I was talking about. There are only 2 other locations in my city and they're about 30 min away.

It's crap enough that AU gets overlooked for everything, but then when we do finally get a collab we don't get the keychains, we have extremely limited supply, zero marketing from Gong Cha AU, and not even clear understanding of which locations are participating.

How hard is it to just make a list of confirmed participating locations?

Why can NZ have silly novelty plastic keychains but AU is left out?

SE region favoritism is so goddamn annoying and they shit the bed with every single collab like this.

it's not only the studio executives it also agents who hold productions hostage with extortionate and unreasonable demands for their talent, leaving little budget for crew. The budget is often there but the 'talent' and their various consultant fees for their mates and PAs and pets and accomodation demands use it all up. Now I'm being kind and putting the blame here on greedy agents looking for commissions rather than the talent themselves but these actors walking out of premieres in 'solidarity' could maybe re-examine their own cushy contracts and demand pay transparency for their crew idk
