So Akira had planned to get captured. But one thing he did NOT count on is how awful it was going to be. He was tortured. Beat and threatened and forced to sign a confession. They literally PUMPED him full of drugs. In my hc, it took a little bit for his physical wounds to heal. After all, they had beat the shit out of him. And he felt sick from the drugs for a few days as well.

Basically, he thought he was gonna be fine but he wasn't. Because it is very easy to say it won't be that bad. But it WAS. It was incredibly traumatic. He tries to play it off as no big deal, but he is incredibly fucked up about it. He has nightmares and some slight claustrophobia due to it. He also gets close to panicking if his arms are at all restrained now. And he has an INTENSE fear of needles now too. He will constantly dream about it and wake up terrified. He both underestimated how bad the police would be AND overestimated his own ability to deal with being more or less tortured for awhile. He does have a bit of an ego so he certainly thought he could handle it.

RIGHT AFTER, his head was super foggy. It didn't really register to him how bad it was because he was just so thankful to be out of there and for the plan to have worked. After meeting with everyone, he went upstairs and passed out. Like during the entire ordeal, he was constantly forcing himself to think of the plan. To trust the plan. But the drugs and the fear made him genuinely forget it at times. Like he just could not think straight. And he felt genuinely afraid of what the cops would do to him (like when they were gonna break his leg). He was really sick for a few days, as I said, from being so drugged up. And once his wounds healed, he put on a brave face about it. Like he does with everything.

But yeah, I would say at least 3 times a week after that he would wake up in a semi-panic and half expecting to still be there. He has a lot of fears he didn't have before that he has now. If anyone tries to bring it up, he'll try his hardest to sidestep the topic. The truth is that just thinking about it makes him feel sick. And anything that even slightly reminds him of it will trigger him into extreme anxiety.

Akira is the sort of person to NEVER let his true feelings show. If something hurts him or makes him feel weak, he won't show it. He ALWAYS tries to be in control of his image and presentation. So he doesn't really like to be exposed in any way ever. People see what he allows them to see. And while he really should talk about it at some point, he won't unless he has a legit breakdown with someone and can't dodge the topic anymore.

So yeah, thanks to that Akira developed a slight phobia of small/enclosed spaces, phobia of feeling trapped or being restrained, and an INTENSE phobia of needles. He also can't stand (once he gets older) to feel intoxicated ever because it slightly reminds him of being drugged.

I had the idea for this fic something like a month ago and I haven't written that much actually - more like, I wrote some notes and a couple of lines. I'm still not sure where this is going to go but I've realised that I really like to write heart-to-heart conversations. I also really want to write Mike and Joyce together because I loved their dynamic in S2 💛 and I really hope we get more of them in S5!

After having said this, I can share the plotline of this fic and also a little snippet 👀 (like, the only two lines I wrote asfhkglk)

summary: It's a gloomy afternoon and everyone's busy with something; training, supply gatherings, coming up with strategies, anything. Mike's supposed to help Robin with lunch but she's late and he ended up waiting for her in his room. His hands automatically reached for the painting and he's still staring at it when Joyce knocks on his door. OR Joyce helps Mike understand the real meaning behind Will's painting.

snippet: “Is that Will’s painting?” Mike snaps his head up and instinctively brings the canvas close to his chest. For a moment, he had forgotten where he was, and when his eyes meet Joyce’s curious ones, he remembers that the painting is not something he has to hide. “Yes,” he replies and shyly lowers it. Joyce beams as she peeks at it over his shoulder. Mike watches as she smiles and her eyes sparkle with an unmeasurable amount of joy and pride. Mike knows he’s not the only one who loves Will’s art.

oh boy, does dee have some nasty habits. first and foremost would probably be smoking, which she does like a chimney. when she's nervous? bam, cigarette. pissed off? bam, cigarette. depressed? bam, cigarette. it's an unhealthy vice, but it's one that she clings to. if she goes a whole day without a smoke, she'll be a lot more irritable than usual and a lot more fidgety.

another habit? cracking her joints. dee has been cracking her knuckles for as long as she can remember ( namely to make dennis squirm ). however, once she lost the back brace, she developed the habit of cracking her neck as well. she carries a lot of tension in her bones, so a nice pop goes a long way. very often, she feels the urge to curl her fingers and bend her wrists, popping them that way ( is she stimming? who knows ).

she's very loud. extremely. being loud was, after all, the only way to be noticed growing up. she takes after frank in that sense, which always irked barbara to no end. whether she's passionate or angry or just plain craving attention, she'll raise her voice. no indoor voice for sweet dee. dennis hates it.

Laxus knew what masks looked like. He knew when someone was putting on a front and while Lucy was damn GOOD at it, that didn't mean he didn't notice. Was he going to elaborate? Not likely. In fact, the man would merely resume walking as if he'd not said anything at all. (Laxus)

A pang of irritation hit Lucy just as soon as he began to speak to her. Even more so whenever he tried to walk away from her whenever he had made his smart-ass comment. He didn't need to tell her that, she knew that eventually her mask would slip, and she wouldn't be able to hide her disdain for Laxus, nor the Raijinshuu. They had HURT her friends, Laxus the most since he had orchestrated it all.

She hated to admit it, but Laxus was smart. It was far easier to pretend that he was just some other dumb idiot that had a god complex, but he wasn't. He was smart, and of course he would be the first to see straight through her own mask.

Her voice dropped an octave, and she balled her hands into fists in anger. How DARE he act like he knew anything about her? How DARE he try and pretend that he knew what she was actually like? Granted, he was right, but it still bothered Lucy to think that he'd dare to act like he knew what her true thoughts were.

Happy Elden Ring day, everyone!
