(( Honestly, while I do talk up merfolk and seeing merfolk as providing the same instinctual and automatic reaction and sensations as seeing a large predator much too close to you, and the deep fear that that provides — that is something that mainly applies to people who are less familiar with Miranda and, thus, less familiar with merfolk. People who are more used to Miranda and have acclimated to being around merfolk a lot wouldn't have that same reaction, or would only really have it in specific circumstances or when they are particularly thinking about it.
Mostly I talk about it a lot just because I'm interested in writing merfolk as truly inhuman, and it's one of those things that I have gripes over in xenofiction. Miranda's expressions aren't human, her body isn't human, none of her reactions are human, and that's a huge gap to try and cover between merfolk and humanoids! It really does feel more like you're talking to a particularly smart tiger, and she breaks a lot of the fundamentals of basic socialization for any other species! It's hard to get comfortable around her for the same reason people often have huge issues with anything that strays radically from the human facial plan or that they can't immediately sympathize with!
This is also the same reason why this starts to go away as people get closer to Miranda — not because she's any less of a merfolk or any more human, but because it's easier to automatically associate what she does with her moods and thoughts and her as a person. It's a degree of familiarity that starts to get so ingrained that it becomes subconscious, not just taught or learned but lived.
Think of it like the difference between someone who doesn't know anything about arthropods, and thus groups them all into "scary" and "frightening", and someone who has learned how to tell them apart, what the different species are and what their different body parts are, how to read their body language, how they move and what they do and how to behave around them. Even if the latter doesn't necessarily have more positive feelings about them, they still no longer possess that immediate jump of "this is not like me and I cannot understand or cope with that."
And, yes, this is why so often the narration and Miranda's actual emotional state or thoughts don't actually line up. Miranda might not think this as anything special and might be comfortable and relaxed, but not every muse will have the familiarity and understanding of her to realize it!

I've had a hard time articulating to people just how fundamental spinning used to be in people's lives, and how eerie it is that it's vanished so entirely. It occurred to me today that it's a bit like if in the future all food was made by machine, and people forgot what farming and cooking were. Not just that they forgot how to do it; they had never heard of it.
When they use phrases like "spinning yarns" for telling stories or "heckling a performer" without understanding where they come from, I imagine a scene in the future where someone uses the phrase "stir the pot" to mean "cause a disagreement" and I say, did you know a pot used to be a container for heating food, and stirring was a way of combining different components of food together? "Wow, you're full of weird facts! How do you even know that?"
When I say I spin and people say "What, like you do exercise bikes? Is that a kind of dancing? What's drafting? What's a hackle?" it's like if I started talking about my cooking hobby and my friend asked "What's salt? Also, what's cooking?" Well, you see, there are a lot of stages to food preparation, starting with planting crops, and cooking is one of the later stages. Salt is a chemical used in cooking which mostly alters the flavor of the food but can also be used for other things, like drawing out moisture...
"Wow, that sounds so complicated. You must have done a lot of research. You're so good at cooking!" I'm really not. In the past, children started learning about cooking as early as age five ("Isn't that child labor?"), and many people cooked every day their whole lives ("Man, people worked so hard back then."). And that's just an average person, not to mention people called "chefs" who did it professionally. I go to the historic preservation center to use their stove once or twice a week, and I started learning a couple years ago. So what I know is less sophisticated than what some children could do back in the day.
"Can you make me a snickers bar?" No, that would be pretty hard. I just make sandwiches mostly. Sometimes I do scrambled eggs. "Oh, I would've thought a snickers bar would be way more basic than eggs. They seem so simple!"
Haven't you ever wondered where food comes from? I ask them. When you were a kid, did you ever pick apart the different colored bits in your food and wonder what it was made of? "No, I never really thought about it." Did you know rice balls are called that because they're made from part of a plant called rice? "Oh haha, that's so weird. I thought 'rice' was just an adjective for anything that was soft and white."
People always ask me why I took up spinning. Isn't it weird that there are things we take so much for granted that we don't even notice when they're gone? Isn't it strange that something which has been part of humanity all across the planet since the Neanderthals is being forgotten in our generation? Isn't it funny that when knowledge dies, it leaves behind a ghost, just like a person? Don't you want to commune with it?

MAYBE ITS ME? … | Date Everything x gn!reader
Summary: After leaving your house because you can’t handle being hated in your very own home, Sam talks with you while your house becomes quiet…
Warning: minimal angst, honestly it’s a little fluffy with you and Sam. The objects are miserable now. There will be a part three and four!!
PART ONE | MASTERLIST | READ ME
Tumblr media
Sam has been the most understanding friend what felt like your only friend she tries her hardest to bring you out of your slump and rationalize while simultaneously making fun of you as to why your relationships within your home have a burning hate for you.
She’s pointing fun yet logical, allowing you to rant about what you did and where you possibly went wrong with each. She sat across from you, leaned forward with her elbows on her knees in full concentration. You were sat back practically melting into the furniture that didn’t despise you, moving a hand around to exaggerate your speech with the other stuffing your face with food like you haven’t eaten in weeks. Lowkey, you haven’t.
“When I talked to Hoove, being nice and supportive while telling him not to work too hard—I thought I was being sweet ya’know—“ You stuff your face and swallow.
“—but apparently NOT?? He got angry with me, when I tried backtracking and apologize which crazy by the way he said he HATED ME?!” You shout, you can feel your face heat in anger at the thought before tears well up.
“Or how I tried to speak with Daisuke—“
“Who’s that one?”
“Oh my tableware, he’s like tall about yay-high with black hair a portion of it in a bun with like dishware themed robes…I heard from others in rhe kitchen that he’s into taking things seriously” You explain with a wave of the hand.
“I actually…heh I thought that we’d get along, he likes taking care of the dishes and even tries to fix them if they crack due to me but that’s not the point I too like fixing things, I want to fix things…but I guess unlike him or fake it till you make it like Tony…I just make it worse…”
“I…I just wanted to be friends or the I don’t know? Date? The whole reason of the damn glasses.” You mutter, you push the snacks away and use a napkin to clean yourself.
Dating them, any of them wasn’t the main goal. Sure it’s interesting but realizing the things around your home have their own lives in the house was so cool!
Being a hermit, a homebody it felt like a this was a way to help you as well, to get better with being social and maybe let you learn that the outside wasn’t so scary and not everything was out to get you.
But, you messed it up—perhaps you tried too hard, pushed too much, didn’t push enough, didn’t flirt when needed to, too flirty for some, or didn’t have enough specs for the correct dialogue and it came out lame. Now, you’re both miserable in the house and out of it.
Sam was trying, really was. As you spoke she’d occasionally glance around her apartment as if the ranting was making her paranoid about her house. Sighing she runs her hand down her face. She should’ve said something about the weird black stuff in that bathroom, maybe it was the fumes getting to you, but she shook her head.
“What else happened?…”
“The breaking point?”
“Yeah, what made you take off the glasses?”She asks, you groan, slumping back and wiping away a few stray tears as you remembered.
“I was going to the Breaker Box Club, ‘cause Eddie and Volt were still nice-ish from our previous conversations—I hadn’t talked to them in a bit by then cause I was trying to salvage whatever was going on between Harper the hamper and Dirk dirty clothes. I wanted to catch up and help Eddie with some of his work like last time.” You shift in your seat uncomfortably.
“When I entered it was packed, I was happy for them that their business was getting bigger but I knew it was gonna be a lot to take on so I went to find one of them to offer help…”
“…you try and help a lot…”
“I do, it’s…the only thing I can give to them—“ you stop yourself, continuing the story of the night prior.
“But, I knew I wasn’t welcomed. Everyone avoided me, whispering around like I was back in school. Again, Volt saw me. I remember waving at him as he walked over way too quickly. We talked as he pushed me along the way I came from, when I noticed I was confused and…worried I lost another person again…” You take in a deep breath.
“I did…the gossip around the club didn’t go unnoticed by the owners he wanted to get rid of me so it didn’t disturb the customers. I tried talking to him saying that I wasn’t a bad…person…” You don’t sound convinced yourself by that statement.
“He wasn’t having it, his…skin almost turned this light blue? His hand gripped my arm to drag my away from the prying eyes, it hurt…not to make him anymore mad I let him, throw me out…” Voice trailing off, Sam looks stunned, like this was the most juiciest soap opera ever.
“You got kicked out of your own break box—“
“YES, I GOT KICK OUT” you yelled but not at Sam, yelling at the absurd thought of being thrown out of your own break box.
“Crazy…” She elongates the ‘zy’ in the word, unsure how to handle the rest of this.
“Do you think there’s a way to start over with them? All of them I mean?”
The sun was setting, making the silence seem light and comforting. You’re tired, and don’t know where to tread next, so many ideas run in your mind that you—wait…
There might be a very dubious way to get your life back to normal. The thought felt terrible, too personal and guilty, but you don’t seem to have any other option. At least not right now. So, you’ll pin the idea with Keith in the back of your mind. And let it fester or wilt as you and Sam brainstorm together.
Back at the house.
The ones that cheered for your leave are quiet, basking in the dullness of the house. Sure they can talk to one another but…that’s uneventful. The house is missing apart of itself the part of you. The human part. The fragile, unpredictable, unproductive, and lonely ways of you has gone missed.
But everyone refuses to say it out loud. They’re all still bitter and angry with how you treated them—wait…why exactly are they all mad? Some can’t remember but feel justified, although, looking back they just remember you trying. No.
No. You hurt them. They think…
Okay—well they aren’t sure…not anymore.
The lights are off because there’s no need to see, the sinks and baths don’t run because there’s no one to draw it for, the wall creaks and settles sadly, coffee pot remains unused along with the beauty products, television, books, sofa, stove—all of it. All of them are…completely bored?
Maybe, making your life inconvenienced and almost down right harassed in your day to day life after you stopped interacting with them wasn’t the right way to express their anger. A day turned to four then a week then two weeks.
Dorian can feel the worry in every room about when you’ll return, he huffs. Bedroom Dorian stands still, looking up at the ceiling then down to the floor, watching Florence quickly scramble around her time book with all the new complaints and meetings for Celia.
He reluctantly…steps forward. Away from his position to stand right in front of the poor woman. He rather be doing his job, the thing he thinks so highly of. However, he too is miserable more miserable than laundry room closet Dorian because what is his purpose now that the one who he open and closes for…is gone?
But he’s convinced himself that speaking with Celia will help.
Or so he hopes.

“i guess i’m stuck forever by the glue, oh, and you”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
aka— how jason loves you (acts of service) ⭒
———
jason todd doesn’t know how to love you. he’s been constantly cast aside, beaten down, grown up seeing how the only real parental figures in his life stare at romantic interests with lust and not purest love. he never learned where to press tender kisses or when to whisper sweet nothings, so the unfettered affection that overwhelms him presses so hard against his chest he can feel an aching heart bulging painfully against his skin.
yet, in the center of his being, nestled right under his left ventricle and between the most delicate of his ribs, there is a little boy terrified of losing the only woman he’s ever been capable of loving, the only person capable of loving him.
so he works— day and night, doing all that he can to ensure that this overwhelming fear, a horror that shakes him body and soul, can never come to fruition. before you could even realize you liked him, he never left your apartment, fixing things you hadn’t even realized were broken. your sink, your fridge, your heater— you threw out the little magnets with the numbers of plumbers and electricians, because jason took care of your crumbling home like it was his.
there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for you. not a line he would fail to cross if you looked up at him with those tired doe eyes that pierce his once unbreachable walls and bewitch him entirely.
he can’t quite say he loves you. its the most difficult thing he’s ever done and he doesn’t know why. he’s said it twice under normal circumstances, six times if you count intoxication and near death experiences— which he does not. he does love you, without question or doubt, he’s so in love with you it hurts him. he just fails at every attempt to articulate it. he wishes he could tell you every day when you wake up, every night before you fall asleep, and every moment in between— but he just can’t. he’s scared that real ‘i love you’s’ will sour into fake ones and tender goodnight kisses will rot into resentment, so he avoids them entirely.
but he shows you. maybe he doesn’t know that he’s supposed to open every door or cover bare shoulders with his jacket, but he knows how to make himself indispensable. he knows you hate coming home to an empty fridge so he makes sure you won’t. he takes care of your car before you were even aware of an issue— oil changes, flat tires, and anything beyond the norm and he makes sure you never have to pay a penny of it.
and the dates you go on— they’re perfectly planned, itineraries crafted with doting hands and warm intentions. he doesn’t go all out very often, he’s more inclined to spend his evenings at home with you in his arms, but on anniversaries, or your birthday? it’s elaborate and enchanting— fantastic really is the only word proper enough in grandeur to describe it. candlelit homemade dinners and gifts that, while never expensive or over the top, are so thoughtful you tear up every time.
yes, while he is an undeniably clumsy lover, a man who was never given the tools to show just how much he is capable of, jason todd loves you too much to ever let go. it is in no way malicious the way he traps you in a rose colored box, making sure you feel loved and cared for and safer in his arms than anywhere else.

˙ ᩠୨ ⌢ ⁺ pile one ੭୧ ₊ ⌢ ୧ ᩠ ˙
you have your s/o utterly obsessed. not just attracted, enchanted. to them, you're a walking fantasy. the hottest, most magnetic being to ever walk this earth. they dream about you every night, and when their thoughts turn spicy? oh, it gets dark.
they imagine themselves loving you like no one else ever could. not just good sex, they want to fuck you so hard, so right, so completely, that you never forget their name. they want to leave fingerprints on your skin, bruises on your thighs, scratches on their back. they want to make you cry from pleasure. they picture you breathless, fucked out, and all because of them.
in their fantasies, they’re the one in charge. dominant, in control. they want to hear you beg, not because you have to, but because you need them. you’re on your knees, moaning their name like it’s a prayer, and every movement they make turns you into a mess. they adore that power, how easily they can ruin you with just a whisper, a glance, a single touch.
a lot of them fantasize about being called “mommy” or “daddy,” not just for the kink, but because it makes them feel needed. craved. worshipped. and in return, they worship you. they want to kiss every inch of your skin, praise your moans, look into your eyes while you cum and tell you how good you are for them. how perfect, how you make them lose their mind.
but they’re not just about roughness. no. they also imagine taking their time, savoring you, fucking you slowly and deeply until your legs shake. they want to know every part of you. where you’re most sensitive. what makes you gasp. what makes you scream. they want to learn your body like it’s holy scripture and memorize every detail.
some of them dream about tying you up. silk ropes, handcuffs, blindfolds. others imagine roleplay: being your doctor, your teacher, your vampire lover who’s waited centuries just to taste you. their creativity in bed? limitless. they fantasize about fucking you against a wall, on the kitchen table, in the shower, in a car... anywhere, as long as it’s you.
and the oral? god. they imagine licking you until you lose your voice. until you're trembling and gasping and clawing at the sheets. they want to hear you sing with pleasure. and if you haven’t had sex yet or have fears about intimacy? they honor that. they want to protect you, guide you, prove that with them, you are safe. and wanted. and free to be everything you are: soft, wild, vulnerable, dirty.
they don’t just want your body, they want your soul too. they want to see the face you make when you fall apart. they want to hold you afterwards, kiss your sweaty skin, brush your hair back and whisper, "you’re mine." they fantasize about worshipping your insecurities, touching the parts you hide, making you love yourself through their eyes.
they want to fuck you senseless and then feed you strawberries. run you a bath, hold you. because to them, you’re not just someone they want to ruin, you’re someone they want to keep forever.

the s/os from this pile? oh, they’re nasty. their late night thoughts are red hot, filthy, and dangerously obsessive. in their eyes, you’re not just sexy. your body, your energy, the way you move, the way you sound. everything about you drives them wild, and when they fantasize, it always starts the same: with you beneath them, moaning, begging, breaking.
they fantasize about hurting you. not to harm, but to worship you in the filthiest ways. spanking your ass until it stings, pulling your hair to hear you gasp, using a whip just enough to make you tremble. they want to turn pain into pleasure so deeply that you crave it. they want to take you right to the edge, over and over, until you’re shaking and dripping and unable to think straight. and they’ll be the one in control the entire time.
just like pile one, domination is at the core of their fantasies, but there’s a twist. they don’t just want you to obey… they want to train you. make you hold back your orgasm until you're sobbing, tease you until you're begging, edge you with just their words. “can you handle what I’m about to do to you?” they love saying shit like that, watching you squirm under their gaze while they smirk, untouched and in control.
but don’t be fooled, even the filthiest doms here have a secret: they fantasize about you taking control too. not just a little. they want you to flip the script and ruin them. ride them, use them, make them whimper and beg. make them your toy. and that’s the thing. they wouldn’t do this for just anyone. it’s only you. you’re the exception. you’re the one that gets to see them on their knees, desperate, aching for your touch.
they’re obsessed with your body. that ass? perfect. they want to spank it, fuck it, watch it bounce. your chest (whether it’s breasts or pecs) makes their mouth water. and the idea of you riding them? oh god, they’ve thought about it way too many times. even if you haven’t touched each other yet, they’ve imagined what it would feel like. and it’s always you in control, taking what you want, making them lose their mind.
they want to please you. they want to devour you. breakfast, lunch, dinner. you are the meal lol. one of their favorite fantasies is you sitting on their face, moaning above them, while they lose themselves in your taste. they want you to cum in their mouth and praise them for it. and if you’re the shy type? oh, they live for that. they want to bring out your inner beast.
some of them even fantasize about licking cream off your body because your skin, your taste, your scent… it’s all addicting. they want to ruin you and be ruined by you. they want to be the best you’ve ever had. better than anyone before, better than anyone after. they want their touch to haunt your body, their moans to echo in your memory, their name to be the one you whisper when you’re alone.
they want to fuck you until your body gives out, until you’re shaking, sweating, unable to move. they want you breathless in their arms. and then, they want to pull you close and kiss you like you’re the only thing in the universe – because you are.

˙ ᩠୨ ⌢ ⁺ pile three ੭୧ ₊ ⌢ ୧ ᩠ ˙
at night, when everything is quiet and the world slows down, your s/o’s mind? it’s loud. loud with desire. loud with the need to have you. loud with the image of your body trembling beneath theirs. in their fantasies, you're not just a lover. you're their addiction, their muse, their sweetest sin.
they can’t stop thinking about the way you move. the way your body bends, the way you look when you stretch, how your lips part when you're focused, it drives them insane. they imagine you walking across the room and suddenly needing to be inside you. right there. no patience. no mercy. they imagine ripping your clothes off just to taste every inch of you, to see you blush and beg and fall apart.
they think about your mouth a lot. what it would feel like to have you go down on them, slowly, like you’re savoring it. they think your mouth was made to ruin them. and if they have a dick? they’re absolutely obsessed with the idea of you choking on it, your eyes watery and shining, hands gripping their thighs, and they’d moan your name like a prayer.
they imagine fucking you in positions that let them see everything, especially 69, where they can watch you fall apart while they devour you. if your dr involves being apart, they’ve thought about video calls where you both get off together, or even making a sex tape just for your eyes only. they want to be remembered. they want your body to crave them even when they’re not there.
if you wear heels (especially red ones) they’re done for. they want to fuck you while you still have them on. they fantasize about grabbing your waist, pulling you back onto them, heels scraping the floor as you moan like you're losing your mind. they want to mark you. claim you. make you theirs.
but don’t get it twisted, some of these s/os secretly want to be owned by you too. they want to be on their knees, obeying your every word, moaning as you degrade them. they imagine you in leather, stepping on their pride, reminding them who they belong to. they won’t say it out loud, not at first. but they want it. badly.
some of them want to watch you. touch yourself. beg. others want to see you get fucked by someone else (just once) to see how good you look when you’re lost in pleasure, so they can take you right after and remind you that no one else compares.
if you're still a virgin, they want to be your first. slowly. lovingly. but also thoroughly. they want to teach you, guide you, show you how good it can be. and if you’ve done it before? they still want to be the best. they want to make you ride them, over and over, until you can’t take it anymore. they love the way you move, and when you ride them? they're speechless, moaning.
they're impatient, yes, but they also love the tease. they want to undress you slowly, drag it out, make you wait. they want the tension. the build-up. the look in your eyes when you realize what's about to happen. and then they want to ruin you.
just like pile two, they also dream of being dominated. of giving up control, of being used. they want you to whisper filthy things in their ear while they beg for more. they want to be humiliated. praised. broken. and only you get to do that to them.
and finally, they want to make love to you. the soft, slow kind. the kind that makes you cry. the kind that feels like a promise. they want to kiss you in the shower, on the balcony, in the kitchen, in the car, wherever. they want your moans echoing off the walls. they want to be your fantasy too. because every night, when they close their eyes, you are theirs.

Saying you were nervous for your date was an understatement. You’ve had your share of first dates, but you were certainly rusty at the moment. You’ve always been too busy to really deal with your love life. Between school, and your absurd hours at work, it only really left you about two hours a day of free time to yourself. And God, you were not gonna let some random person get in the way of those two hours.
But Jack wasn’t a boy. He was a man. He was a grown man. With a stable job, and a 401k, and real insurance, definitely not his parents. And at this point, you were quite scared the age gap was going to be a problem. You were mostly scared you were going to say something stupid in front of him. You knew you were far from unintelligent. You excelled in your degree, you had a lot of common sense, and humor! Which is proven to show intelligence. But in all honesty, you haven’t taken a science class since your freshman year of undergrad. The information from anatomy class had fallen so far out of your brain you’re pretty sure it still haunted your first dorm room. You didn’t know how to talk about his line of work with him, you didn’t know anything about emergency medicine. And that scared you, deeply. You have been so wrapped up in your philosophy groups, where everyone always knew what the other was talking about, that you weren’t sure how to learn something brand new anymore.
Maybe that was the most exciting part, though. The idea of opposites attract, like the movies. Yeah, it was exciting, not nerveraking. You had read recently that anxiousness and excitement caused the same physical symptoms, so you tried to trick your brain into being excited. You were excited. You had been looking forward to seeing him since he sent the first text.
You texted back right away, of course, telling him that you’d be delighted to accompany him to dinner. He asked for your address, and said he’d pick you up, which was the most gentleman-like act you’ve experienced in years. Or so you thought, because before you know it, there’s three small raps at your door. You check your phone, seeing the time is 5:47. There’s also a text from Jack saying that he was on his way, you had missed it in your whirlwind of getting ready. You move towards the door quickly, turning the creaky knob.
He looks good— unreasonably good. He has on a tight fitted black henley, a pair of nice, fitted jeans, and some black tennis shoes. You don’t know how casual attire makes him look so sexy, but it does.  A silver chain glints in the light, and you think you may faint. You’re so taken aback by his attractiveness, you don’t even see the bouquet of tulips that he’s holding out to you.
Jack stands there, letting you take him in. He's got a smug little smile on his face. “Hi there. These are for you. I was hoping you would just have a vase?”
You nod, words not forming quite yet. “Can I come in?” he asks softly.
“Yes! Sorry, yes, yes, come in. Excuse the mess.” your apartment was spotless, but it just felt like the right thing to say. It’s what people said when they had guests, and your dialogue was being reduced to factory settings.
“Nice apartment,”
“Yeah, it’s not too bad.” you grab a vase from under the sink, filling it up halfway with water. You make quick work of cutting the stems off the tulips before plopping them in the water.
“Are you ready to go after that?”
Your heart thumps in your chest, so hard you can feel it in your throat. “Yeah, I am.”
“You’re less talkative today,” he says. Not prying, just observing. He looks at you like he’s assessing you for symptoms.
“Honestly, I can’t really believe you’re standing in my apartment.”
He smiles, “Still think you’re dreaming me up?”
“Maybe a little,”
“That’s okay. I’ll show you how real I am tonight.”
You gulp at the innuendo, unsure if it was even supposed to be an innuendo, but that's definitely the way you were taking it.
Jack catches your eyes and nods his head towards the door before walking over, leading the way. You follow his suit instinctively.
His car is a nice, black truck, and the inside is spotless. Not that you thought it would be dirty, but it’s unrealistically clean. Almost like he just bought it. You hear a soft talking over the radio, no, it’s something else.
He sees you trying to locate the noise, “It’s a police scanner, if there’s an emergency coming into the hospital I like to know so I can go help.” he blinks at you, recognizes the words coming out of his mouth, “Does that make me a crazy workaholic?”
You belly laugh, “God, no, I mean if people need help, it’s good you want to help.”
“I do like to help.”
“You really love it, don’t you?”
“I do, I think what I do is some of the most important work in the world, and I’m good at it. And I like being good at things.”
You hum in response, “Definitely very important work,”
“What do you like about philosophy?”
“I just think it’s an interesting study on human nature. I like applying philosophies I agree with to my personal life, or putting them on other people. I like sharing how to think one way instead of another. I just like to think, maybe.” you say, frazzled. No one really asks you why philosophy. They just hear that it’s your degree, and move on.
“I like that. The world needs more people who fucking think.” he says. His eyes are glued to the road, he has one hand on the wheel, and one resting on the gear shift. His fingers softly tap to their own rhythm.
“How many stupid people do you deal with in a day?”
“More than I would like to admit. I’m sure you get your fair share.”
“Yeah, but I don’t have to treat them for six hours while they tell me I’m wrong about life saving practices.”
He nods sharply, “This period of time is certainly an interesting one. I don’t know why half of them even come in, they just sit there and refuse treatment.”
You shake your head, “I change my answer. I’m getting a philosophy degree so I don’t have to deal with the general public.”
It’s his turn to belly laugh, “I don’t blame you, kid.”
You get dizzy from the nickname. The car settles into a comfortable silence. You continue your drive until you pull into a small, nice Italian restaurant.
Jack puts the car in park. You go to reach for the handle and he scoffs, “Stay in.”
He gets out of the car and comes around to your side, opening the door for you. You want to cry, you still think he’s fake. You get out, try to pretend like your hands aren’t shaking. He closes the door behind you, then grabs your hand. The contact sends sparks right up your arm, just like the first time he grabbed the coffee up from you. You thought shit like that was fake, but it was real, this was real.
The dinner goes perfectly. The conversation flows. Jack is a lot less abrupt when he’s not in the middle of a shift. He tells you stuff about his personal life, about his parents, and even a little bit about the war. He talks to you about medical supplies he thinks are changing the future. And he lets you talk. He genuinely cares what you have to say. He never looks at you like your degree is anything less than his. He even looks blown away at some things. The owner of the restaurant comes over at one point. You learn that he and Jack served together. You feel honored to meet someone Jack knows already. The date is all you could have wished for– it was better than a dream. Jack was real, and he enjoyed your company. You could tell on his face. The creases between his eyebrows went away, and his smile lines got deeper. He was mysterious when you met him, but now, you felt like you already knew him, and how to read him.
The drive home is equally perfect. Jack cracks the windows a little, letting in fresh air. You feel the wind hit your hair lightly. He won’t stop looking over at you. His hand twitches towards you on the gear shift, and you reach out for it without thinking. He glances down, and then back up at you. He grabs your hand, interlocking your fingers together. You rest your sewn together hands on your lap, studying his rough hand.
Of course, he walks you to your door. You lead the way, and you can hear him trailing behind you, slowly, cautiously.
You unlock the door and turn to look at him, “Well, here I am.”
“Here you are,” he smiles.
You linger in the doorway, not wanting the night to end. “Did you have a good time?”
His eyes soften at you, “Yeah, I had a real good time. Best time in a while.” Your breathing falters. “I’d really like to kiss you.” Jack says.
You still, then nod, you can tell your eyes are wide and glazed over.
“I’m gonna need some words, sweetheart.”
“I would like that.” you say, barely above a whisper.
He approaches you. Grabs your cheek, gives it a gentle rub with his thumb before leaning down. He lets his nose rest on yours for a second, taking you in. He’s so close, his chest bumps yours when he breathes in. He closes his eyes and closes the space between you. It’s soft at first, it’s kind. It’s– alert. You can’t help yourself. You need more. You make the move to deepen it and that’s all he needs. He presses into you, so hard that you enter your apartment. He’s so fucking smooth, you can’t stand it. You try not to think about all the practice he’s had, probably before you were even a concept in your parents head. He closes the door with his back before spinning you around and pushing you against the wooden entrance. You grab his face, pulling away from him. Jack chases your lips, but when you turn away, he starts placing soft kisses on your neck instead.
“I want you to know,” you say panting, “I never do this on the first date.”
He chuckles into you, “This is our third date.”
“What?” you say, breathless, because he’s kissing a tender spot right under your jaw that’s driving you crazy.
“Those times I saw you at the coffee shop. Those were our first dates.” You know he’s just talking to make you feel better, but it’s definitely working. “Don’t worry about it, no judgement here.”
“You got it, Doc.” Jack stills. You think you fucked it. You curse yourself for making the corny joke.
He removes himself from your neck. Standing back to his full height. You try to not make eye contact, but his eyes chase yours, forcing you to. “Do you know how fucking crazy it makes me when you call me that.”
“No,” you choke out.
“I’ve never even been into that. Never cared. But the first time you called me that, I almost broke. I thought about it the rest of the day.”
“And the second time?” you quip, playing into his games.
He shakes his head, places his forehead on your chest, “Killing me, baby.”
You look down, and see how hard he is. His bulge is straining against his jeans.
He stands up again, “What do you wanna do, huh? Wanna keep playing games, or you wanna let me get you off?”
The bluntness of his statement– and eagerness– makes you feel like your heart has dropped to the bottom of your stomach. “The latter,”
“Say it,” he says.  You shift on your feet, look straight down into the carpet. “I’m not gonna do it until you say it.”
“I want you to get me off.”
“Yeah, you do.” He kisses you again, deep, and hard. Your tongues clash. “Bedroom?” he asks.
You push off the door and start leading him to the back corner of the apartment. You thank yourself for picking up all the outfit options that you previously had sprawled on the ground.
You let yourself fall onto the bed, moving back until your head hits the headboard. Jack doesn’t miss a beat, he follows you all the way back, never removing his lips from yours. He settles his hips between yours, and you feel the bulge instead of seeing it. He softly grinds into you, just once, just to make sure you know how you’re making him feel. He has a hand gently resting on your throat, just to stabilize himself. You remove it and lead it down, you put it under the dress you had on. You knew you were soaked through, and this is how you were gonna show him what he was doing to you.
He groans into your mouth, “I have to taste you.”
You nod eagerly, and he doesn’t ask for words this time, just settles himself onto his stomach. You move down on the bed so your head can rest on the pillows. He doesn’t bother taking off your dress, just bunches it above your hips. He stares for a second, taking in the wet spot on your panties. Your hand moves an inch, going to take them off, but Jack grabs your wrist, presses it into the bed. He leans in and puts his tongue flat on you, through your underwear.
“Shit!” you squeak. Your ears ring. Fucking doctors, of course he’d be able to find the clit while you had underwear on, while everyone else you’ve been with, you’ve had to show them.
He grunts into you. Like he’s going crazy himself. Finally, he taps your hips, signalling for you to lift them. Of course, you do. “Already so good at following orders.”
The dominance leaking from his voice sends a wave of arousal through you. You imagined he would want to be in charge in bed, but he was so confident about it. It wasn’t shit he learned from watching too much porn— fake dominance that’s played up for the video. It was natural, it was who he was.
You can’t find words to answer him, you just keep following his orders, trying to make him proud.
“Y’sure you want this?” Jack triple checks.
“Please,” you’re breathless, already fucked out just from kissing him.
He doesn’t say anything, just places his tongue flat on your pussy, licking a long strip all the way to the top.
You moan, louder than your neighbors would prefer. Jack is so good at it, you go back to thinking you’re dreaming. It’s absurd how good it feels. He knows all the right spots to hit, all the places only you could ever find. But he found them, and he’s claiming them. You feel like you’re becoming his. He teases a digit at your entrance and you preen, giving him permission. He sinks it in and curls it. He sets a steady pace that falls in alignment with how vigorously he’s eating you out.
You already feel yourself getting close. You’ve never come this fast before— ever. Not even when you were doing it yourself. You can’t believe Jack is gonna beat your personal best.
“You’re close,” he says into you. The vibrations go all the way up from your pussy to your brain.
“Yes, I don’t know how, but yes. Please, I wanna come.” you ramble.
“Give it to me, I wanna see you fall apart, honey.” He adds a second finger and your back arches up off the mattress.
You squeeze your eyes closed so hard you see white instead of black. He works you all the way through your orgasm, “That’s it, good girl. Look at me.”
Your eyes shoot open. This man and his need for eye contact. He wants to see everything. He wants to read you. And he does. His brows furrow at your face. He looks down at your body. Still in that dress that drove him crazy when you opened the door.
He’s still letting his fingers pump inside of you when you come back to Earth. He stills them and pulls them out. You whine a little, he shushes you.
He makes sure you’re watching when he brings his fingers up to his lips, sucking off the juices he just got out of you. “God, you taste so fucking good.”
Your face goes hot, you try to look away but Jack’s too quick, again. It’s like he knows what you’re gonna do before you do it. He grabs your jaw. “Haven’t you figured out I wanna see you?”
“Yeah, I got that.”
“Then stop running.”
You huff out a breath. You lean up to kiss him again and he lets you. You can taste yourself on his tongue and it’s hotter than you thought it could be. You’re under his spell. Hopefully he really likes you, because you think you might follow him around forever now.
You give up being coy, “I need you. Please, I need you, Jack.”
“Okay, you’ve got me. Don’t worry, honey,” he says.
You sit up and pull your dress over your head, unclasping your bra after. Jack takes his shirt off too. You lay back down and let your legs fall open. He hesitates before taking off his pants. You can sense he’s nervous. He takes the jeans off, and you see it. He looks at you, like he expects you to run. Like he expects the worst.
“Please,” is all you say. And that’s all it takes. Jack takes off his boxers, and his cock slaps up onto his stomach. It’s so long, the tip hits right below his belly button.
He climbs up onto the bed, your legs open wider for him. You throw Jack a condom from your bedside table and he puts it on quickly. He lines himself up, the tip kisses your entrance. Jack comes up to where your head is, pressing his forehead against yours. He breathes into the space between you for a second, then, he sinks in.
It’s deep, really deep. So fucking deep you can feel him in your stomach. He strokes so that he hits your g-spot, and he can tell he got it by the way you moan. It was more a sob, really He places his mouth on your nipple, slightly tugging with his teeth. He plays with it for a while before giving the other one the same attention. All while not breaking his pace. It felt so, fucking, good.
“So good, it feels so good.” you decide to tell him, to talk. You wanted to hear his voice.
“You feel so good. You’re sucking me in, baby. God, this pussy is even better than I imagined.” His chain dangles in your face, and you think you might be getting hypnotized.
“You thought about this?” you ask, trying to conceal your need for praise.
“For the past week, I’ve fucking thought about sinking my cock into you. You’re so beautiful. You’re so funny, and smart. You’ve got it all, baby. You’ve fucking got it all.”
The words send you reeling, “Fuck, I’m not gonna last long.”
“Me neither.” He grunts.
His head falls into your neck. He places a deep kiss there, leans up to your ear. “Come around my cock, sweetheart.”
You weren’t one to disobey his orders. You come for the second time that night and Jack follows. He groans into you and lets his chin hit your shoulder. “Fuck,”
You both stay there like that for a while. Sweating, panting, coming down from the high of your life.
“I’m gonna pull out, okay?”
You nod, let him do whatever he wants. You’re so fucked out you don’t know if you can even open your eyes.
He tosses the condom into the small trash bin beside your closet and grabs his boxers off the floor, putting them on before laying down beside you.
You look over and smile at him. You can’t stop smiling actually, or giggling.
Jack brushes your hair out of your face, “What’s so funny, hm?”
“That was so fucking good.”
Jack laughs, loudly. The loudest you’ve heard his laugh yet. “Yeah, it was so fucking good.”
You start to get shy, the highness of your orgasm wearing off, “I’d like to see you again, if you want.”
“Oh, honey. After that? You’re never getting rid of me.”

Tumblr media
Chan has resigned himself to a life that's the opposite of routine. Between comebacks, promotions, and tours, there's always something new to juggle.
He wouldn't have it any other way, but sometimes he craves an ordinary life.
That's one of the things he loves about you. How he can come home and get lost in the simplicity of cooking dinner, going grocery shopping, or folding laundry together. One of his favourite things is being able to spend a quiet night in with you.
As a regular office worker, your schedule is more predictable. You leave at the same time every morning and although you often have to work overtime, it’s a manageable amount.
In the beginning of your relationship, Chan often felt guilty about how chaotic his life was in comparison to yours and always felt that that it made him seem unreliable. It’s still something he worries about from time to time, but after a couple of years, the two of you have learned how to balance it all.
Chan knows something is wrong when he gets home and all the lights are off. He can tell  that you’re home because he can see your shoes neatly lined up by the door and your work bag is hanging off one of the kitchen chairs.
He carefully takes his shoes off and makes his way further into the apartment, trying to stay quiet in case you’re sleeping. He feels his heart clench when he finds you awake instead, curled up in bed with tears running down your face. Even though you haven’t seen him yet, he can tell that you’re suppressing your cries, trying not to make a sound.
“Baby,” he says gently, kneeling on the floor beside you to get your attention without spooking you. “What's wrong?”
“Channie?” you look up at him with a sniffle. “How come you're home?”
“Nothing important, just tell me, what's got you so upset?”
You shake your head instead of responding, burrowing further into the makeshift nest that you’ve created by piling all the pillows and blankets into one side of the bed. Just the very top of your head is visible and even though he's concerned about how you're acting, Chan can’t help but think of how adorable you are. He extends a hand out and, when you don’t pull away, strokes through the bit of hair that’s still exposed.
“Did you have a hard time at work?” he asks.
“Mmm, no it was okay.” Your voice is faint, muffled by the blankets and hoarse from crying. Chan tries not to think of how long you must have been like this for your throat to be in such bad condition.
“Did you get any bad news? Is your family okay? DId something happen to one of your friends?”
The longer you stay silent, the more scared that Chan gets. He doesn't want to overwhelm you so he feels bad that he's practically bombarding you with questions. It's just that his mind is racing, thinking of every terrible thing that could have happened between when he had kissed you on your forehead as a goodbye this morning to now.
“Did I-” Chan asks tentatively. “Did I do something to make you upset?”
That’s what finally gets you to reply.
“I'm just having a bad day,” you say softly.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” Chan asks, immediately in problem-solving mode. “Did you eat yet? I can make us something and we can watch a movie or-”
You interrupt the beginnings of Chan’s rambling by reaching out and wrapping a hand around Chan’s wrist, tugging him towards where you’re lying.
“Just stay with me.”
Chan is quick to obey. He strips off his hoodie and pants before settling in beside where you're curled up. When you rearrange the blankets and shift to lean against Chan, he gathers you into his arms and tucks your head under his chin.
Neither of you say anything for a while. Chan focuses on controlling this breathing and is relieved when you slowly match him.
Chan can tell that you need a bit more time to calm down and he knows that you'll talk when you're ready, if you want to talk at all. He feels a pang of regret for not realising earlier that you were struggling so much today.
“I'm sorry that I'm depressed,” you say all of a sudden.
“Why are you apologising?” Chan asks, genuinely confused. “You have nothing to apologise for, it's not like you chose to be depressed.”
“I just- Don't you ever wish that I was more normal?”
“What?”
“I mean, you could easily find someone else to date, someone better-”
“I'm going to have to stop you there,” Chan says firmly. “Yes, I could find someone else to date, you could too. But I don’t want to, you’re the one that’s best for me, you’re the one I want to be with. I chose you.”
“Yeah, but you chose the old me, the happy version of me. I- I’m not good to date right now.”
“I chose you and I will continue to choose you. You’re still you even if you’re depressed. Depression doesn’t decrease your worth or make you any less lovable than when I first met you.”
“But it sucks that you have to take care of me like this, that you have to deal with all my bad days.”
“I don’t like it when you have a bad day either, but it’s not because I don’t want to take care of you. A part of any close relationship is taking care of each other and I would do even more if it would help your depression. I just wish there was something I could do to make it so that you never have a bad day again. And it’s not like I’m always looking after you, you take care of me all the time too,” Chan reminds you.
“But that’s different,” you mumble, turning to hide your face in Chan’s shoulder.
“Is it?” Chan asks. Instead of trying to coax you into looking at him, he just wraps his arms around you tighter, rubbing slow circles onto your back. “You took on all the cooking and cleaning when I injured my wrist, even though the doctor said I could still do everyday tasks.”
“It’s not the same,” you argue. “You injured yourself and had to rest, otherwise you wouldn’t heal as quickly.”
“You help me when my insomnia is bad and I can’t sleep at night. I used to feel so bad because I knew that you would get scolded at work for showing up so tired after staying up with me.”
“It wasn’t your fault!” you say quickly. “I wanted to, you didn’t make me stay up.”
“Just like how I want to help you,” Chan reminds you. “I know what you’re going through is difficult and I want to do anything I can to make it easier for you.”
“But what if I’m like this forever? you ask in a small voice. “What if I’m always sad?”
“Listen, just because this is how things are now, does not mean things will always be this way, okay? I know it can be hard to think that way, but I’ll always be here to remind you.”
"It just feels like I'm never going to get better."
"What does getting better mean to you?"
"Being back to what I was like in the past, when I was happier."
"I think if you look at it that way, you won't be satisfied. But I see you, I see your progress. You've been seeing a therapist, and I know they have helped you a lot. You've told me that the medications you've been taking have improved how and what you feel."
"I guess," you say reluctantly.
"I see that you're trying. You won't always be happy. That's natural. The important thing is that you'll learn that you can experience disappointment or misfortune, that bad things will happen, but you will still survive. I know that it's hard, but I'll be here alongside you."
“Can you promise me something?” you ask tentatively, peeking out to look at Chan.
“Anything,” he agrees immediately.
“If you ever get tired of all this, of me, promise that you’ll tell me. Promise me that you’ll leave. I don’t want you to feel trapped in this relationship.”
“As long as you do the same to me,” Chan says.
“What? I wouldn’t ever have to-” you start to object.
“And I don’t think I will either.”
“I’m sorry that you have to always reassure me,” you say quietly.
“I told you, I don’t mind-”
“I think this is the worst version of me,” you say all of a sudden. You hold your breath, as if you’re bracing for Chan’s reply. He doesn’t even have to think to respond.
“I feel safe with the worst version of you.”
You’re quiet for so long that Chan starts to worry that he didn’t say the right thing. He shouldn’t have made it sound like he agrees that this is the worst version of you, he should have reassured you more he-
“I feel safe with you too,” you finally reply and Chan knows that everything is going to be alright.

"They were roomates" obkkrn au where obito and Rin are an established couple who live together. And bc reasons, Kakashi needs a place to stay for a while. So obviously, yk, Kakashi comes to stay with his besties as he looks for a new apartment
What follows is a comedy of errors as Rin and Obito proceed to be absoloute fucking freaks about Kakashi. They are throwing themselves at him in increasingly desperate, concerning, and honestly at times kind of creepy tactics.
Kakashi makes them dinner as thanks and Rin makes a joke about how he should stay forever and be their housewife and Obito laughs just a little bit too hard (under the table he's clutching at his thighs so hard they're gonna bruise)
Kakashi's clothes begin to go mysteriously missing and Obito starts not to subtly suggest he just borrows his instead :))) as Rin is going "oh Kakashi you're soooo forgetful, it really makes me worry about you, you know... Maybe you just need someone to take care of you, there's no shame in that! Teehee <3"
Kakashi gets sick and Rin very seriously considers giving him fake medicine so he can stay sick (and under her care) longer
Kakashi complains ab how expensive housing is and how he can't afford any of this shit on his salary, and Obito "jokes" a little too enthusiastically that he should just quit his job and find a hot sugar daddy. Or something. Wouldn't that be funny. Right Kakashi? Right? Right? Hey, you know Obito himself is pretty wealthy ahahahaha—
Kakashi remains completley oblivious.
Genma comes over for dinner one day, and at that point things have escalated so much that several of the weird comments and behaviors on Obito and Rin's side are the new "normal." So Genma just sits there through, what is from his perspective, the weirdest and most uncomfortably charged dinner of his fucking LIFE.
When he leaves, Genma just puts a hand on Kakashi's shoulder and tells him good fucking luck. Kakashi remains confused.
Uhhh endgame Genma tells Kakashi to open his fucking eyes bc Obito and Rin want him BAD. And after the initial disbelief, Kakashi begins to test the waters of leaning into/indulging in Obito and Rin's newest freak behavior and seeing what they do
And just Kakashi subtly fucking with them both by playing into whatever the fuck is happening in their heads, just to see what happens. He's thriving actually
Anyways I'm coming to learn that my favorite obkkrn dynamic is just.
Obito 🤝 Rin -> being freaks about Kakashi together
To be fair tho: it's REALLY funny. And also makes total sense.
Because ofc Nohara "Obito apologist even in death" Rin, and Uchiha "Rin was a perfect angel who I will put on a pedestal till my dying day and destroy the world in the name of creating a new world she could have been happy in" Obito would make eachother INFINITELY worse!!
Obito is incapable of seeing his own or Rin's possible wrongs, and Rin literally was on Obito's side even through the genocide, Kakashi stalking, child murder, detailed plans to take over the world, etc. There is no way in hell these two could actually ground eachother, sorry. In my eyes they would only make eachothers freak factors infinitely worse.
Every time either one of them gains even a SHRED of self-awareness, the other is right there to comfort them and insist that "nooo ur soooo normal, I promise <33" and "its ok if you're a little bit of a (stalker, murderer, obsessed with Kakashi) freak... it's not ur fault u have ptsd..."
Rin and Obito both suffer from the Kakashi Illness(tm) but it presents itself in different ways and they feed into eachothers fixation on the guy in the worst (best) ways

hii !! I just wanted to say your seunghyun/top post was so cute :’) i love it sm !!
I was wondering if you’d be comfortable writing something similar for jiyong? Maybe something based off that one interview where he says he acts more “childish” in a relationship as opposed to the “cool type” people assume he’d be!
If not, no worries !! I still love your writing regardless and am excited to see more ^^
soft bf!jiyong (headcannons)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: the reality of a relationship bf!jiyong.
an: hello! thank you for your kind words, they mean the world to me :,) i hope i did your request justice. enjoy!
Tumblr media
bf!jiyong who: despite his image of the, “hard to get, playboy” is the complete opposite with you.
bf!jiyong who: before you started dating, wanted desperately to have all of your attention, every single ounce. he would always act silly and make jokes in order to get you to laugh. (which did not slip past the rest of bigbang.) it made his stomach do flips to be the cause of your smiles.
bf!jiyong who: could never bring himself to tell you he liked you, he was terrified of ruining your friendship. he couldn’t bring himself to risk it. so you could imagine how surprised he was when he came to see you backstage after he performed,(which was nothing out of the ordinary) and was met with you shyly handing him a handwritten letter. decorated with swooping letters, white lace, and, glitter hearts, declaring your love for him. he tried to be the picture of nonchalance as he rubbed the back of his neck as he admitted he had liked you for some time too. but, he was really doing jumping jacks in his head.
bf!jiyong who: is the most loyal person you’ve ever met who will defend you with his last breath. (you two were getting out of jiyongs drivers car. heading to a small cafe for a date. the paparazzi were surrounding the two of you as you tried to push through. a hand on the small of your back made your head shoot up, looking at your boyfriend, who carried a slightly annoyed look on his face. you were almost at the entrance when a voice called through the crowd, “hey lady! move out the way, i cant get a good shot!” you turned to see one of the paparazzi shooting you a glare. before you could respond, jiyong left your side and walked between you and the aging man. “hey! dont talk to her like that!” he barked as he smacked the camera away from his face. shooting the guy one last death glare, he raced back to you, intertwining your hands and pulling you inside.)
bf!jiyong who: when you guys go to places where you have to take your shoes off before you enter, kneels down infront of you and carefully unlaces your shoes and pulls them off, and when you leave slips them back on and laces them back up.
bf!jiyong who: insists on paying for everything the bill when you guys go out to eat, the rent for your shared apartment, for groceries, for the cable bill. no matter how much you insist you want to help, he declines every time. he likes to spoil you.
bf!jiyong who: learned how to braid hair—via youtube video, because he knew you hated when your hair was in your face.
bf!jiyong who: makes homemade gifts for you. such as, origami roses, oragami swans, origami hearts that, when unfolded have messages on the inside. he likes to do origami when he’s feeling overwhelmed. he finds it relaxing.
bf!jiyong who: has a love language of acts of service.
bf!jiyong who: loves to take care of you. wiping food from the corner of your mouth while you eat, doing your skincare after a night out, and you’re too tired to do so yourself, cooking you your favorite meals, massaging your neck after you slept wrong the night before.
bf!jiyong who: when he gets anxiety clutches your hand and draws circles on your palm.
bf!jiyong who: wears a silver bracelet engraved with your name on it and wears it religiously. the only time he takes it off is to shower.
bf!jiyong who: gave you one of his favorite rings. which, you wear on a chain around your neck at all times.
bf!jiyong who: has a photobook filled with Polaroids you take of each other, and, together. he likes to have physical photos of the two of you.

whats wrong with ai?? genuinely curious <3
okay let's break it down. i'm an engineer, so i'm going to come at you from a perspective that may be different than someone else's.
i don't hate ai in every aspect. in theory, there are a lot of instances where, in fact, ai can help us do things a lot better without. here's a few examples:
ai detecting cancer
ai sorting recycling
some practical housekeeping that gemini (google ai) can do
all of the above examples are ways in which ai works with humans to do things in parallel with us. it's not overstepping--it's sorting, using pixels at a micro-level to detect abnormalities that we as humans can not, fixing a list. these are all really small, helpful ways that ai can work with us.
everything else about ai works against us. in general, ai is a huge consumer of natural resources. every prompt that you put into character.ai, chatgpt? this wastes water + energy. it's not free. a machine somewhere in the world has to swallow your prompt, call on a model to feed data into it and process more data, and then has to generate an answer for you all in a relatively short amount of time.
that is crazy expensive. someone is paying for that, and if it isn't you with your own money, it's the strain on the power grid, the water that cools the computers, the A/C that cools the data centers. and you aren't the only person using ai. chatgpt alone gets millions of users every single day, with probably thousands of prompts per second, so multiply your personal consumption by millions, and you can start to see how the picture is becoming overwhelming.
that is energy consumption alone. we haven't even talked about how problematic ai is ethically. there is currently no regulation in the united states about how ai should be developed, deployed, or used.
what does this mean for you?
it means that anything you post online is subject to data mining by an ai model (because why would they need to ask if there's no laws to stop them? wtf does it matter what it means to you to some idiot software engineer in the back room of an office making 3x your salary?). oh, that little fic you posted to wattpad that got a lot of attention? well now it's being used to teach ai how to write. oh, that sketch you made using adobe that you want to sell? adobe didn't tell you that anything you save to the cloud is now subject to being used for their ai models, so now your art is being replicated to generate ai images in photoshop, without crediting you (they have since said they don't do this...but privacy policies were never made to be human-readable, and i can't imagine they are the only company to sneakily try this). oh, your apartment just installed a new system that will use facial recognition to let their residents inside? oh, they didn't train their model with anyone but white people, so now all the black people living in that apartment building can't get into their homes. oh, you want to apply for a new job? the ai model that scans resumes learned from historical data that more men work that role than women (so the model basically thinks men are better than women), so now your resume is getting thrown out because you're a woman.
ai learns from data. and data is flawed. data is human. and as humans, we are racist, homophobic, misogynistic, transphobic, divided. so the ai models we train will learn from this. ai learns from people's creative works--their personal and artistic property. and now it's scrambling them all up to spit out generated images and written works that no one would ever want to read (because it's no longer a labor of love), and they're using that to make money. they're profiting off of people, and there's no one to stop them. they're also using generated images as marketing tools, to trick idiots on facebook, to make it so hard to be media literate that we have to question every single thing we see because now we don't know what's real and what's not.
the problem with ai is that it's doing more harm than good. and we as a society aren't doing our due diligence to understand the unintended consequences of it all. we aren't angry enough. we're too scared of stifling innovation that we're letting it regulate itself (aka letting companies decide), which has never been a good idea. we see it do one cool thing, and somehow that makes up for all the rest of the bullshit?

⸺ ݂ ํ Author's Note: ꣒ So, again, I am back at it. Completely fictional.
I don’t look in mirrors if I can help it.
I glance—never stare. I avoid reflections like they’re landmines, each one threatening to detonate everything I’ve worked so hard to bury.
I pull my hoodie tighter around myself as I walk down the hall of my apartment building. Even though it’s warm out, I keep it on. I always keep it on. Oversized, black, long-sleeved—my version of armor. Fabric that hides the parts of me I hate the most.
Which is basically all of me.
My thighs touch when I walk. My arms jiggle when I reach for things. My stomach… don’t get me started. Every inch of me feels wrong, and no matter how many times people say things like "beauty comes in all sizes," I can still hear the laughter from the girls in middle school locker rooms. I can still feel their eyes on me. Judging. Mocking.
I learned early that boys only look at girls like me when it's a joke—or a dare. So, I don’t let them. I keep my head down, earphones in, and move like I’m invisible.
It’s safer that way.
I fake normal better than most. Smiles when I’m supposed to. Laughs at the right moments. I even let my mom believe I’m doing "so much better" lately.
She wouldn’t notice either way. She’s too busy.
She works fifteen hours a day and answers my texts with thumbs up emojis or, if I’m lucky, a "K." I get it. She’s trying to keep us afloat. But sometimes I think she works that much so she doesn’t have to come home.
Can’t say I blame her.
My dad is... well, he’s usually passed out almost every time I visit them. His breath smells like cheap whiskey and bad decisions. He tells me I’m beautiful sometimes—slurred, half-sincere—but only after his third drink. And the next morning he doesn’t remember saying anything at all.
I hate that I still want him to mean it.
No one knows how I eat in secret. How I wait until everyone’s asleep to tiptoe into the kitchen and stuff myself until I can barely breathe. Chips, cereal, cookies—whatever I can find. It’s not even about the food. It’s about silence. About filling something inside me that always feels empty.
Then comes the shame. The guilt. The promise to do better tomorrow.
Tomorrow never comes.
People think being fat is a choice. Like I woke up and decided to hate myself. Like I don’t already know what every calorie means. Like I haven’t stood in dressing rooms, numb and silent, while my mom said, “You just need a little more discipline.”
If she only knew.
But she doesn’t. No one does.
And that’s how I survive. By hiding the real me. By locking away every ugly thought and pretending I'm okay. It’s exhausting—but I’m good at it.
I finally curled up In my bed, wrapped in the same blanket I’ve had since high school—frayed at the edges, soft from too many washes. The TV was on, playing some show I’ve already watched three times over. Something comforting. Familiar. The kind where characters have perfect lives, perfect friends, and perfect bodies. The kind where no one ever breaks down crying because they can’t zip up their jeans.
I mindlessly shove popcorn into my mouth, even though I’m not really hungry. I just need something to do with my hands. That, and I don’t know how to exist in silence.
Outside, life moves. People laugh, date, go out for coffee and brunch and spin class. I watch it all through the filtered lens of social media, like I’m peeking through a window at a party I wasn’t invited to.
But the truth is... I don’t want to go.
Not really.
Being outside is exhausting. People are exhausting. The stares, the judgment—even the polite ones, the forced smiles, the awkward glances that say "I see you, but I don’t want to."
I’d rather sit here, in the stillness of my own space, where no one expects anything from me. Where I don’t have to suck in my stomach or pull down my shirt every time I stand up.
Unless she visits.
My best friend, Vicky. The only one who’s ever stuck around long enough to see all my ugly truths and not run for the hills. Unfortunately she lives two hours away. We talk every day tho—text, memes, random voice notes that trail off mid-sentence because we always know what the other means. But when she visits? That’s when I pretend, just for a night, that I’m someone else.
Someone better.
We’ll pour a glass of cheap wine and sit on the floor like we’re still seventeen. She’ll blast music we used to love and I’ll let my hair down, throw on a slightly-too-tight dress I usually hide in the back of my closet, and for a few hours, I’ll play the part.
I’ll laugh too loud. I’ll talk too fast. I’ll flirt with the mirror and call myself a bad bitch even though I don’t believe a word of it.
It’s not real, but it’s fun to pretend.
Sometimes we go out—to a bar or a lounge or some half-dead pub that plays throwbacks—and I’ll catch a man looking my way. And for a second, I’ll feel like maybe... maybe this time is different.
But it never is.
They smile. Then hesitate. Then give me mixed signals that make my head spin. One moment, it’s flirty texts and compliments. The next, it’s radio silence or a sudden ghosting like I imagined the whole thing.
I used to blame myself. Still do, if I’m being honest.
Maybe I’m not pretty enough. Maybe they didn’t like how my body looked up close. Maybe they thought I was fun—until they realized I came with baggage.
They say I’m “hard to read,” but they never bother to learn the language.
Now, I don’t expect anything. I don’t chase, and I definitely don’t hope. Hope is a cruel thing when you’ve been fed disappointment your whole life.
So I stay here.
Buried in the comfort of my bed. With my blanket and my snacks and my fake little world where I don’t have to feel like a mistake.
And honestly?
Sometimes, it feels like the only place I truly belong.
Some nights, the silence feels like it’s screaming.
Tonight is one of those nights.
The TV is still on, playing something meaningless. Just noise to drown out the thoughts. But it doesn’t work. It never really does. The thoughts always find their way back in—slipping through the cracks like cold air under a door.
I don’t even know when I started crying. My eyes just feel heavy, and my chest aches like I’ve been holding my breath for hours.
I sit there, knees hugged to my chest, tears rolling quietly, silently. Because that’s the only way I know how to break down—alone. Always alone.
I wish I could explain this feeling. This tightness. This numb, dull throb of sadness that doesn’t go away. It’s not just about my body, though that’s a part of it. It’s the loneliness. The kind that makes the world feel like it’s moving on without you. Like you’re stuck behind glass, watching everyone else live while you just... exist.
People talk about love like it’s this magical thing. Like it just happens. Eye contact across a room. Sparks. Butterflies. Hands brushing and souls colliding.
I’ve never had that. I don’t even know what it feels like to be touched by someone who wanted to stay. Who wanted me. Not some idea of me. Not some mask I wear to get through the day. The real me.
And God—don’t even get me started on sex.
Everyone acts like it’s supposed to be this beautiful thing. Passionate. Intimate. But for me? It feels terrifying. Not just because of my body—though that fear is always there, a weight pressing down on me—but because letting someone that close means showing them everything I try so hard to hide. The scars. The stretch marks. The parts of me I can’t fix.
The parts of me I’ve learned to keep locked up.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m even capable of being loved. Like maybe I was born with something missing. Or maybe I’m too much. Too broken. Too guarded. Too something.
Would anyone ever actually stay, if they saw all of me?
The depression makes it worse. It lies to me. Tells me I’m unworthy. That I’m hard to love. That I’m destined to always be someone’s maybe, someone’s almost. The girl who’s good for conversation but never good enough to hold.
And the worst part? Some days, I believe it.
I hate how much I crave affection, even though I’m terrified of it. I hate that I want someone to hold me and kiss my forehead and tell me I’m safe, but I wouldn’t know how to accept it if they did. My body would flinch, my mind would panic, and I’d probably ruin everything before it even began.
Because that’s what I do. I ruin things.
And then I cry about it in the dark, wondering what’s wrong with me.
I wrap the blanket tighter around me and bury my face in my arms. My tears come harder now, not quiet anymore. Ugly sobs that make my throat burn. I wish I could scream. I wish I could tear it all out of me—the pain, the shame, the fear.
I just want to be held. Not for how I look. Not for what I offer. But for who I am.
All of me.
Even the messy, haunted parts.
Even the parts I don’t know how to love myself.
But maybe that’s a lot to ask.
Maybe no one’s coming.
Maybe I’m all I’ll ever have.
-
Friday night.
The clock on my screen blinks 6:01 PM, and just like that, my shift ends.
Another day of smiling through gritted teeth, typing out canned responses to strangers who think “customer support” means “emotional punching bag.” My fingers are sore, my eyes ache, and I have exactly zero energy left to pretend to be a functioning adult.
I close my laptop and sigh, rolling my neck until it cracks. My apartment is dim, lit only by the fading orange glow of sunset bleeding through the blinds. I consider changing into pajamas and crawling under a blanket burrito-style. It’s what I usually do on Fridays. My little reward for surviving the week. Thank God I was a home office or else I’d be definitely drained at the office.
Then I hear it.
Knocking.
Sharp, insistent, like the sound of someone who knows you’re home.
I freeze. I’m not expecting anyone.
Another knock.
I drag myself to the door, hoodie still on, hair a mess, socks mismatched—classic me. I open it cautiously, peeking through the crack.
And there she is.
“Surprise, bitch,” Vicky grins, arms wide like she’s just delivered the winning lotto ticket.
Right behind her stands Trevor, tall and unbothered, holding a paper bag that smells suspiciously like garlic bread. He nods at me like we’ve just seen each other yesterday, even though it’s been months.
“What the hell—” I blink. “You guys didn’t tell me you were coming!”
“That’s what makes it a surprise,” Vicky smirks, pushing past me into the apartment like she owns the place. “Also, we know you’d say no if we warned you.”
She’s not wrong.
Trevor chuckles as he walks in behind her. “Hey, Y/N. We brought food. Don’t yell at us.”
I just shake my head, trying not to smile too hard. It’s impossible with these two.
Vicky and Trevor have been together for five years now. They met online—some obscure Reddit thread about mental health turned into DMs, which turned into phone calls, which turned into a weekend meetup that never really ended.
She’s a psychologist, whip-smart with a razor-sharp tongue and a heart of gold. He’s an IT guy, quiet and patient, the kind of man who listens more than he talks and somehow always knows when you need space... or a hug.
They’re that annoying kind of couple that actually works—the kind that finishes each other’s sentences and still giggles at inside jokes no one else gets. It’s weird seeing that kind of emotional intimacy up close. Beautiful, but also kind of brutal.
Because deep down, I want it.
That connection. That safety. That soft, quiet love that doesn’t disappear at the first sign of mess.
And it hurts—just a little—because a part of me still believes I’ll never have it.
“You’re staring again,” Vicky teases from the couch. “Are you mentally writing fanfiction about us?”
I roll my eyes, laughing despite the lump in my throat. “No, I’m just wondering how two socially awkward nerds made it work.”
Trevor winks. “Magic and memes.”
“And therapy,” Vicky adds, tossing a cushion at him. “Lots of therapy.”
We eat. We talk. We laugh—really laugh, the kind that makes your stomach hurt. For a moment, I forget about everything else. My body. My fears. My loneliness. It all fades under the glow of garlic knots and sarcastic banter.
Until Vicky suddenly looks at me with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“We’re going out,” she says.
I blink. “Out where?”
She stands, brushing crumbs off her jeans. “It’s a surprise.”
Trevor groans playfully. “God help us all.”
I hesitate. My instinct is to say no. I’m not dressed for “out.” I’m not mentally prepared. My anxiety starts bubbling up—but Vicky grabs my hand before I can retreat.
“Trust me,” she says, softer now. “You need this.”
I swallow hard, nod slowly, and let her pull me to my feet.
-
An hour later, we’re walking down a narrow alley lit by a single flickering bulb. The sound of bass and shouting grows louder with every step. The building looks like an abandoned warehouse, tagged up and half-broken—but there's a bouncer at the door and people going in like it's nothing.
“What is this?” I ask, narrowing my eyes.
“You’ll see,” Vicky smirks. “Just… keep an open mind.”
I glance at Trevor. He just shrugs and smiles, which tells me nothing.
We walk in—and the moment we do, the world shifts.
It’s hot. Loud. Electric. The air is thick with sweat, adrenaline, and tension. People crowd around a caged ring in the center of the room, shouting, cheering, drinks sloshing in their hands.
A fight is happening. An actual underground fight.
“What the hell, Vick?” I whisper, stunned.
The air hits me like a punch.
Heat. Sweat. Noise.
A crowd of bodies packed like sardines, all facing the makeshift cage in the center. The shouting is relentless, echoing off concrete walls, drowning out my thoughts. People are laughing, jeering, spilling drinks. Some are on tables. Some are barely dressed. Every part of it screams get out.
Vicky turns back and says over the noise, “Trust me. You need this. It’s good for your mental health.”
I shoot her a look. “You dragged me to a fight club for my mental health?”
She grins, unfazed. “You live in your head too much. This place? It pulls you out. It’s raw. Real. No filters. No fakeness. You just feel everything, whether you want to or not.”
I open my mouth to argue but the words stick. Because as chaotic as this place is, I can already feel the numbness cracking. Not in a good way—more like being ripped out of a too-warm blanket and thrown into a blizzard.
I tug my oversized hoodie tighter around myself, the sleeves swallowing my hands. My skin feels too exposed, like people are looking at me even when they aren’t. I’m not dressed for this. I’m not ready for this.
I did shower before we left, thank God. But even that small self-care win can’t calm the panic twisting in my gut now.
Overcrowded places make my skin crawl. I’ve never liked loud spaces, or too many people talking over each other, or being somewhere I can’t make a quick escape from.
It’s too much.
I scan the room, my eyes flicking from face to face. Most people here are loud, confident, half-drunk or fully fearless. Girls in tight dresses, guys in muscle shirts and tattoos, people laughing like this is a Friday night comedy show and not two men bleeding into the floor.
And then there’s me.
Tucked into the corner. Hiding. Heart racing. Wondering why the hell I agreed to this.
“Vick,” I say, leaning closer to her so she can hear me. “I don’t think I belong here.”
She turns, her face softer now. “You do. Just breathe.”
But how can I?
Every step into this place feels like walking deeper into someone else’s life. Someone who isn’t afraid. Someone who belongs in their skin. Not like me. I shrink without even realizing it—shoulders curling in, body trying to disappear into the folds of my hoodie. My safe zone.
I don’t want to be here.
I don’t want anyone to look at me.
But at the same time… some twisted part of me does.
Just once, I want to be the girl someone notices.
And I hate myself for it.
“Just give it a minute,” Trevor says gently, voice like a low anchor in the storm. “You might surprise yourself.”
But I don’t want to surprise myself. I want to be back home, curled up in silence, not vibrating from the bass of a place that smells like blood and beer.
Still—I don’t leave.
Because as much as I hate this, as much as I want to run, there’s something about this space that feels important. Like I’m on the edge of something.
Even if I don’t know what.
Suddenly, the crowd erupts louder than before—cheers, screams, a few scattered boos. Everyone turns their attention to the ring as a man climbs through the ropes.
A voice booms from the crackling speakers overhead, broken slightly by static but loud enough to cut through everything.
“In this corner, we got the reigning champ of the Southside pits… undefeated in seventeen fights, no tap-outs, no knockouts—only carnage. You know him. You fear him. Put your hands together for THIAAAGOOOOO!”
And that’s when I see him.
Thiago.
He steps fully into the ring—and my heart stalls.
He’s massive.
Tall—at least six foot five—built like a mountain, shoulders so broad they look like they could crush skulls. His skin is littered with scars, some healed into thick ridges, others fresher and angry red. A jagged one runs across his collarbone like a warning sign.
He’s bald, his head gleaming under the overhead lights, and his face—God, his face—it looks carved from stone. Cold, emotionless. A sharp jaw, a crooked nose that’s clearly been broken more than once, and dark eyes full of fury.
He’s not just a fighter. He looks like he’s made for war.
And he’s terrifying.
My stomach flips. My body stiffens. I take a half-step back without thinking.
“Holy fuck” I mutter, clutching my hoodie like it’s a shield. “This is insane. That guy looks like he eats souls for breakfast.”
Vicky doesn’t respond right away. She’s watching the ring with a curious glint in her eye. Trevor’s more stoic, but even he looks a little tense now.
Thiago circles the ring like a predator, chest rising slowly, eyes scanning the crowd like he’s daring someone to challenge him next. He radiates danger—pure, undiluted rage wrapped in muscle.
“He’s one of the best here,” Vicky finally says. “Or the worst, depending on how you look at it.”
“He looks like he could snap someone in half,” I whisper.
“He has,” Trevor says casually. Too casually.
My hands start to sweat.
Why are we here?
Why did Vicky think this was good for me?
My anxiety’s climbing fast. My heart won’t slow down, and my breath is catching in my throat. I don’t belong here. I don’t belong anywhere near people like him.
Just being in the same room as that kind of anger—raw, visible, unfiltered—it makes my skin crawl. It reminds me of my dad on a bad night. It reminds me of yelling behind closed doors. Of breaking things that don’t heal. Of fear you can’t explain to anyone.
I can’t tear my eyes away, though. Even as my body begs me to.
Because there’s something about him that feels like a mirror—sharpened, brutal, broken.
And maybe that’s the scariest part.
The referee’s voice cracks through the mic again, pulling the attention of the crowd back toward the entrance ramp. People around me start shifting with excitement—some chanting already, others leaning forward, trying to get a better view.
“And in this corner…” the announcer growls with theatrical flair, “…the one you’ve been waiting for. The wildcard. The Ghost of the East Ring. He’s fast, he’s vicious, and he doesn’t say much—but when he moves, you listen. Give it up for—JUNGKOOK!”
The lights dim just slightly. Smoke—real or fake, I can’t tell—floods in at the entrance. Then he steps out.
And everything slows.
He’s smaller than Thiago, yeah. Not small, just… more compact. But somehow his presence fills the room in a different way. Controlled chaos. Stillness before a storm. His body is lean but powerful—tattooed arms flexing under the flickering warehouse lights as he casually rolls one shoulder, then the other.
A black wet mullet hangs across his forehead and brushes against the nape of his neck, damp with sweat or maybe water poured over him before walking out. His dark eyes flick across the crowd—slow, methodical—like he’s searching for something or someone specific.
When his gaze sweeps past me, I freeze.
He doesn’t pause. Doesn’t even notice me. But for a second, I feel… seen.
Then it’s gone.
He climbs into the ring like he’s done this a thousand times. Calm. Efficient. No flashy entrances or chest-beating bravado. Just quiet readiness.
Unlike Thiago—who still paces like a caged beast—Jungkook stands still in his corner, bouncing lightly on his feet, head down, breathing slow. Controlled. Poised.
A storm in waiting.
“What’s his deal?” I mutter, frowning as I watch him from under my hood.
Vicky grins. “That’s Jungkook. He doesn’t talk much, but he moves like poetry.”
Trevor nods. “He’s fast. Thiago hates him.”
“Why?”
“He can’t catch him,” Trevor says with a half-smile. “And when he tries, he gets hit. Hard.”
The bell hasn’t rung yet, but the energy in the room is shifting. The crowd is buzzing, already leaning forward in anticipation. Two men. Two energies. One unhinged rage, the other ice-cold focus.
And I’m standing there in the shadows, heart pounding, watching it unfold like it’s all some dream I don’t belong in.
But I can’t look away from Jungkook.
There’s something about him—quiet, deadly, beautiful in a way that shouldn’t belong in a place like this. Like he’s made of sharp edges and unspoken things.
And I have no idea why he’s making my chest feel like this.
The moment the bell rings, everything changes.
Jungkook and Thiago explode into motion at the same time, their bodies colliding with a sickening thud as the crowd roars around us. The sound is deafening, a mass of screaming voices and wild excitement. I can’t take my eyes off them. The chaos, the violence, the raw power—it feels like it’s coming at me in waves.
Thiago lunges first, furious and relentless. His fists are like battering rams, crashing into Jungkook’s body, and the crowd is losing it, egging Thiago on. The sound of flesh hitting flesh is sickening, and I feel a rush of unease—nausea swirling in my stomach.
But then, Jungkook moves.
It’s so fast, so fluid, that I barely register what happens until Thiago’s momentum is thrown off. Jungkook ducks under his next punch, a move so smooth it’s like watching someone glide through water. He weaves out of the way, and then, like a snake striking, his fist connects with Thiago’s jaw with a crack that echoes through the room.
Thiago stumbles back, and the crowd goes wild. Thiago roars in frustration, lunging again—but this time, Jungkook’s ready. His footwork is impeccable, always staying just out of reach, and every time Thiago throws a punch, Jungkook dodges it like he’s reading Thiago’s mind.
And then, in an instant—Jungkook moves in, faster than I can process. He shifts, gets in close, and with one sharp, devastating blow to Thiago’s midsection, he drives his opponent to the mat. The crowd gasps.
Thiago struggles to get back up, but it’s no use. Jungkook moves in again, his body like a machine, precision in every movement. With a calculated swing, Jungkook lands another hit—this one to Thiago’s head.
Thiago falls.
The crowd goes wild, a tidal wave of cheers and screams as Thiago is knocked out cold. Jungkook stands over him, chest heaving, sweat dripping down his face. His nose is bloodied, but his eyes are laser-focused, scanning the crowd as he stands tall, shoulders heaving, sweat glistening across his skin. He’s breathless, but there’s no sign of slowing down.
The referee steps in, holding up Jungkook’s arm.
“Winner!” he shouts into the microphone, his voice drowned out by the roar of the crowd. “Jungkook!”
My breath catches in my throat as I watch Jungkook stand there, still and proud, despite the blood smeared across his face. He doesn’t celebrate like Thiago would have—no shout of triumph, no cocky grin. He just stands there, like this is exactly where he was meant to be.
I’m still frozen in place when the crowd starts to quiet down, and my eyes move to Vicky.
“How do you know these two?” I ask, still watching Jungkook as he wipes the blood from his nose, catching his breath. “You’ve been here before, right?”
Vicky glances at me, her eyes flashing with something I can’t quite place. “In my four years of studying psychology here? Yeah. I’ve been to this place three times. Every time, I’ve seen Jungkook win.”
My brow furrows. “Three times?”
Vicky shrugs, leaning in to make herself heard over the fading buzz of the crowd. “Jungkook doesn’t lose. Ever. And not just here, either. He’s been in the underground circuit for a while now. He doesn’t talk much, but the guy’s a machine. Everyone here knows that.”
I’m still staring at Jungkook. The blood on his face doesn’t make him look weak—it makes him look… stronger. Like the fight is a part of him, something embedded in his bones. The way he carries himself—the way he moves—it’s like there’s nothing in the world that could touch him.
He’s not just a fighter. He’s something else.
I try to push the feeling down, the one stirring in my chest, but it’s there. Something about him pulls at me.
“He’s scary,” I whisper, though the words don’t feel like they fit the way I’m feeling. It’s more than fear. It’s something like… awe. And maybe a little envy.
“Scary?” Vicky laughs. “Nah. He’s a fighter. And trust me, if you ever find yourself in his corner, you’ll know exactly why people respect him.”
I don’t answer. My mind is too wrapped up in the image of him standing in the ring—barely breathing, bloodied, but still unshaken.
I’m about to turn away and find a quiet corner to collect my thoughts when a sharp pang hits my stomach.
I can’t ignore it.
“Vicky…” I call out, trying to keep my voice steady. “Where’s the bathroom?”
Vicky doesn’t even look at me, still watching the ring as the crowd starts to thin. She gestures to the far side of the room, near the back exit. “Down that hall, last door on the left.”
I nod quickly and make my way through the maze of bodies and noise, feeling like I’m moving through a fog. I don’t care what’s going on around me—I just need to get some space, somewhere I can breathe and not feel so… exposed.
The hallway is dim, the walls dirty and covered in old graffiti. I find the door easily enough. But when I push it open, my stomach drops.
There’s no sign for male or female. Just a simple bathroom with no distinction.
Great.
I freeze for a moment, standing in the doorway. I can hear people in the bathroom—voices. Laughter. But I’m not sure if they’re men or women, and the last thing I want is to stumble into a situation where I’m forced to confront anything uncomfortable. I can feel my pulse thudding in my ears.
There’s a stall at the far end, empty.
Without thinking twice, I rush in, lock the door behind me, and press my back to the cool metal of the stall. The air feels thick again, like it’s closing in around me, and I force myself to take slow, steady breaths, in and out.
But it’s not enough.
The panic is rising—fast. My hands start to shake, my chest tightens. I try to block it out, but the air feels suffocating, too thick, too hot. I can hear the muffled sound of footsteps and the low murmur of voices from the other side of the bathroom.
Just breathe. It’s fine. You’re fine.
But I’m not.
The panic is already clawing at my throat when the door to the bathroom swings open. Two women walk in, their voices high-pitched and giggly. I bite my lip, forcing myself to stay as still as possible, praying they won’t notice me.
“Oh my God, did you see Jungkook out there?” One of them says, her voice dripping with excitement.
“Yesss!” the other responds, laughing. “I was like, wow—how is he so hot? Like, he’s got that whole dangerous vibe, you know?”
“Totally,” the first one giggles again. “I would literally do anything to be with him. I don’t care if he’s a fighter. He can take me down anytime.”
My stomach twists. I close my eyes, feeling the heat rush to my face. This is exactly what I hate. This feeling of being on the outside, the feeling of not being the one they’re talking about. Not being the one that someone notices.
“Can you imagine how good he must be in bed? I bet he’s rough,” the second woman whispers with a smirk. “Like, you know, he’s got that energy. He could probably have any girl he wants. Hell, he’s probably had every girl he’s ever looked at.”
My heart stops. My hands are trembling against the cold stall door, but I can’t bring myself to leave. I can’t seem to move. The words echo in my ears, over and over, and I want to scream.
Why does this bother me so much? Why does this hurt?
I can’t understand it.
I want to run out of here. I want to disappear. I want to get away from the laughing, the whispered thoughts about Jungkook, about how he’s someone they can have—someone they want.
For a second, I wonder if I’ll ever be wanted like that. If anyone will ever look at me the way these girls are looking at Jungkook.
Stop.
I breathe in deeply, trying to steady myself again. My fingers are cold and clammy as I grasp the edge of the toilet paper dispenser. The walls of the stall feel like they’re closing in on me, but I force myself to stay still. I have to. If I move, it’ll make everything worse.
The last thing I need is for them to hear my panic, my heavy breathing, my brokenness.
The girls continue talking, oblivious to me in my corner.
“God, I’m so jealous,” the first girl sighs, “but I bet I’d die if he even looked at me.”
“You think he’d go for a girl like us?” the second one snickers. “Doubt it. He’s probably all about the hot, fit girls. You know the type.”
The conversation continues as if I’m not even here, and I can feel the sting of their words, even though I try to push them down.
He doesn’t want girls like us.
The thought slips out before I can stop it.
I squeeze my eyes shut, but it doesn’t make the hurt go away.
I wait for what feels like forever, the girls’ laughter and giggling fading as they finally leave the bathroom. Their footsteps echo down the hallway, their voices growing softer with each step. The silence that follows feels too loud, too heavy.
I take a few more slow breaths, trying to steady myself. The panic is ebbing, though the tightness in my chest lingers. You’re okay. It’s over. Just get out of here.
I wipe my clammy hands on the sides of my jeans and push open the stall door. My legs feel weak, unsteady, as I step out into the dim hallway, my heart still hammering in my chest.
Just get to the door.
I make my way toward the exit, trying to ignore the lingering heaviness in my chest. But as I round the corner, I’m blindsided by a sharp collision.
“Oof!” The impact knocks the breath from my lungs. I stumble back, my phone slipping from my hand and hitting the floor with a hard thud.
I immediately bend down, scrambling to pick it up. My face flushes with embarrassment, my hands shaking as I retrieve the phone, fingers fumbling for a moment as I focus too much on my own awkwardness.
“I’m so sorry,” I stammer, voice barely above a whisper as I stand up, still feeling the warmth of my cheeks. My eyes instinctively dart to the floor, avoiding any kind of eye contact. The last thing I need is for someone to see how flustered I am. Especially not after all those words in the bathroom, all those thoughts swimming in my mind.
Then I hear a low chuckle.
I freeze. My stomach lurches, the breath in my lungs catches.
No way.
I look up—and there he is.
Jungkook.
He’s standing in front of me, his presence almost overwhelming. He’s no longer in the fighting gear, but even in casual clothes, he still carries that intimidating aura. His shirt is loose, sleeves rolled up to show off his tattooed arms, and his black jeans sit low on his hips. His black mullet hangs a little messy, slightly wet from sweat or maybe water.
But what catches my attention first—what makes my stomach twist—is his face.
Bruises. Dark, angry purple bruises marking his cheekbone, a cut across his lip, and his nose—still swollen and bleeding slightly. The aftermath of the fight. But even with all that, there’s something so… captivating about him. Like a storm you can’t look away from.
I feel my heart pounding harder, my palms slick. Every insecurity I’ve ever had seems to slam into my chest all at once. Oh my God. I must look like a mess. No makeup, a baggy hoodie, messy hair. He’s so… perfectly put together—even with the bruises.
I open my mouth to say something, anything, but nothing comes out. I stand there, completely frozen, completely aware of how ridiculous I must look. I hate how much I want to hide.
“Are you okay?” Jungkook asks, his voice surprisingly soft considering the way he fights. His eyes—dark and unreadable—scan me for a second, waiting for a response. He tilts his head, an eyebrow quirking slightly as if waiting for me to speak.
For a moment, I can’t find my voice.
What the hell am I supposed to say to him?
“I—uh—yeah, I’m fine,” I stammer, cringing at how small my voice sounds. “Sorry about, um, bumping into you. I wasn’t looking where I was going…”
He chuckles again, this time a little quieter, almost like he’s amused by my awkwardness. “No problem.” His gaze shifts down to my phone in my hand, and there’s a flicker of something in his eyes, like a silent understanding. “You should probably hold onto that better. Might break it next time.”
I nod quickly, biting my lip. “Yeah. I’ll, uh, be more careful.”
The silence stretches between us, and I can’t stop myself from feeling completely out of place. His mere presence—his proximity—feels like a weight on my chest. I want to say something more, something that doesn’t make me sound like an idiot, but the words are stuck in my throat.
What is he even doing here? My brain races. Why is he talking to me?
The bruises on his face, the way he carries himself, the intensity he exudes—everything about him screams confidence, while I can barely keep myself together.
“Hey,” he says again, his voice quieter this time, almost like he’s trying to make sure I’m not completely shut down. “You’re alright. You don’t have to apologize.”
I look up, meeting his eyes for the first time since I bumped into him, and for a split second, I forget how to breathe. His gaze is steady, almost piercing, and there’s something strangely gentle in the way he looks at me—like he’s trying to figure me out.
“I’m sorry,” I murmur again, my voice soft, barely audible. “I… didn’t mean to cause any trouble.”
He shakes his head slightly, a small, amused smirk curling on his lips. “No trouble. But if you’re gonna keep bumping into me, I might start thinking you’re doing it on purpose.”
My face burns. I can’t believe this is happening. He’s standing right in front of me, and I’m acting like I’ve never spoken to a guy in my life. I’m sure I look like a mess.
I look down again, hoping he won’t notice how flustered I am. But when I glance back up, I catch a glimmer of something in his eyes—a mix of curiosity and something else I can’t place.
“Well, I’ll make sure to avoid you next time,” I mumble, trying to force a smile, but it feels so awkward.
Jungkook doesn’t say anything right away, but his gaze softens just a fraction. “Don’t worry about it,” he replies simply, his voice steady, like he’s seen this kind of thing a thousand times.
And then, with a slight nod, he turns and walks past me, heading back toward the crowd, leaving me standing there in the dim hallway, my heart racing, my breath still shaky.
Did that really just happen?
Monday
The morning light hits different when you’ve had a whole weekend to forget the world. I wake up to the sharp trill of my alarm and the sun creeping through the blinds like it’s personally offended I’m still in bed.
Vicky and Trevor left late last night, their hugs lingering longer than usual. We spent the rest of the weekend curled up on my couch, talking about everything—really talking. The kind of conversations that make you feel both lighter and heavier at the same time. The ones that peel you open in a way that’s terrifying but necessary.
Vicky told me she’s worried about how I retreat when I’m hurting. Trevor said he thinks I deserve to stop living like I’m waiting for something to break. I didn’t say much. Just nodded a lot. Smiled at the right parts. I don’t know how to explain that sometimes, talking about the darkness makes it feel more real.
But it felt good.
Safe.
And now Monday feels like a slap.
I throw on my usual work-from-home uniform—baggy hoodie, leggings, messy bun—and log in just before my boss can ping me. My headset’s tangled, my coffee’s lukewarm, and the emails are already giving me hives.
By 10 a.m., I’ve mentally clocked out.
I’m rereading the same sentence for the third time when Katherine messages me.
Katherine (10:03 AM):
Hey! Got a sec to hop on a quick call?
Katherine is the kind of person who always has her camera on during Zoom meetings. Perfect hair. Perfect lighting. She once told me she drinks celery juice every morning. I pretend to like her but mostly because I’m afraid she’ll sense my existential dread through the screen and report me to HR.
I reply with a thumbs-up emoji and brace myself.
She starts with small talk—weather, client updates, a weird squirrel that got into her balcony. And then she says it.
“So, this is random,” she begins, her tone suddenly shifting. “But... you were at The Pit this weekend, right?”
I blink. “How do you know about that?”
She smiles like she’s trying to be casual. “One of my best friends is in that crowd. I used to go with her sometimes. Total chaos. Honestly, I thought you were more... I don’t know, library-core?”
I laugh awkwardly. “It was a surprise outing.”
“Ah. That explains it.” She leans closer to the camera like she’s about to deliver state secrets. “So listen… I’m telling you this as a friend, okay? Don’t get too caught up in Jungkook.”
My stomach flips.
I try to keep my expression neutral. “I’m not… I don’t even know him.”
“Yeah, well,” she says, “just in case. I’ve known him for a while. He runs with a rough crowd. Really rough. He’s not some tortured artist or romantic bad boy. He’s a fighter. Like, literally and metaphorically. The guy doesn’t let people close. And if he does? It never ends well.”
I swallow. “Okay…”
She shrugs, taking a sip from her green smoothie. “He’s rich, by the way. Like, crazy rich. Family money. Old money. The kind that hides skeletons behind designer walls. He’s rebelling against it, or whatever. But still—trust me, girls like us?” Her voice softens, almost sympathetically. “We don’t survive guys like him.”
I stare at the screen.
Katherine offers a smile like she’s just done me a favor. “Anyway. Just thought you should know. Back to work!”
The call ends.
And I sit there, headphones still on, heart pounding, trying to make sense of everything she just said.
Girls like us.
We don’t survive guys like him.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Because I already knew that.
But hearing it out loud?
It stings in a way I wasn’t ready for.
The call ends.
And it’s like the silence in my apartment changes shape—heavier, sharper, pressing in from all sides.
I stare at my screen, blinking at the spreadsheet I was supposed to be editing, but all I can see is his face again. Jungkook’s bruised jaw. His quiet stare. The way his voice was soft when he asked if I was okay.
I thought it meant something.
God, I’m so stupid.
Why did I even let myself feel anything at all? One second of attention from someone like him and I’m already spinning stories in my head. Already hoping. Already aching.
But he’s not a story.
He’s not the exception.
He’s a walking warning sign with pretty tattoos and a reputation I should’ve seen coming a mile away.
And me?
I’m the girl who doesn’t even look in mirrors.
The girl who flinches when someone raises their voice.
The girl who hides from kindness because it always turns into disappointment.
What the hell was I thinking?
I push my laptop away and curl in on myself, wrapping my hoodie tighter around my body like it might hold all the unraveling parts together.
It’s pathetic, how easily I fall back into this. This sadness. This hole. Like I never even tried to climb out.
My chest feels tight again. Like there’s not enough air in the room, not enough silence in the world to quiet the noise in my head. Katherine’s voice keeps looping:
“Girls like us… we don’t survive guys like him.”
She’s right.
Not just because he’s dangerous—but because I’m already drowning.
I don’t need someone like him lighting a fire next to the flood.
I’m barely surviving myself.
I can’t afford to let someone else in. Especially someone who could burn me just by standing too close. I’ve done that before—opened the door a crack and let someone walk in like they had a right to rearrange the furniture in my soul.
And when they left, they took everything I had with them.
I won’t survive that again.
I don’t care how soft his voice was. I don’t care how different he seemed. I don’t care about the way his eyes looked like they could hold secrets.
I’m not his mystery to solve.
I’m not some redemption arc.
I’m tired.
I just want to be left alone.
So I grab my phone, fingers trembling, and type out a message to Vicky.
me (11:21 AM):
hey. Can we talk later?
She replies almost instantly.
Vicky (11:22 AM):
of course. you okay?
me:
not really.
Vicky:
I’m here. whatever you need.
I drop the phone onto the bed and let myself cry.
Not the quiet, hidden kind this time—but the ugly sobs. The ones that shake my whole body. The ones that feel like mourning.
Because that’s what this is.
I’m mourning the version of me who thought, even for a second, that maybe someone like Jungkook could want someone like me.
But that girl doesn’t get to stay.
She was too hopeful.
Too naive.
And hope? It’s just another way to hurt yourself when you know better.
-
The apartment walls feel like they’re closing in again.
My chest is still heavy from crying, my eyes swollen and tired, but I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. My stomach growls like it’s mocking me, like even it is tired of my emotions.
I don’t want to go outside. I really, really don’t.
But I don’t have the energy to argue with myself anymore.
So I throw on the armor—the same oversized black hoodie I’ve worn three days in a row, the one that swallows me whole. Baggy sweatpants that drag at the hem, sleeves covering my hands. Greasy hair scraped into a low, half-hearted bun. No makeup. Glasses on. Invisible mode activated.
If anyone looks at me, they’ll see nothing worth seeing.
Which is exactly the point.
The convenience store is just down the block. Two turns and I’m there. I don’t make eye contact with anyone. I keep my head low, shoulders hunched, heart pounding in my ears for no reason at all.
I grab a pre-made sandwich, a pack of chips, something sweet. Something to feel something. The cashier doesn’t say much. I pay and leave, crinkling plastic bag in one hand, the weight of my exhaustion in the other.
And then—
I hear it.
A low, throaty vrrrrmmmm.
A motorcycle.
It pulls up to the curb just as I step outside. Black. Shiny. Sleek. Yamaha. The kind of bike that looks fast even when it’s parked.
The rider is dressed in all black—black jeans, black hoodie, black gloves, black helmet. The mirrored visor reflects the late afternoon haze, faceless and quiet.
But somehow—somehow—he looks straight at me.
Not at the store. Not at the sidewalk.
At me.
I freeze.
My breath catches in my throat. My pulse spikes. No one sees me—no one is supposed to see me. Especially not like this. Especially not him.
Because I know.
I know it’s him.
Even before he moves, before he speaks—my bones recognize the tension, the quiet storm under the surface. My body flinches like it’s muscle memory.
I take a shaky step back. Then another. My fingers curl tighter around the plastic bag like it’ll protect me. I turn, heart in my throat, ready to bolt in the opposite direction.
But then—
“Hey!”
Just one word.
But it’s enough.
The voice is familiar—low, rough around the edges, quiet in that way that still demands attention. Not yelling. Not sharp. Just… deliberate.
And it comes from behind me.
I freeze mid-step.
My grip tightens on the bag, but I don’t turn around. My whole body tenses like I’m waiting for the ground to open and swallow me whole.
Please no. Please let me be wrong.
But then—
“You dropped this.”
I glance down. My receipt flutters on the pavement behind me.
I should keep walking. I want to keep walking.
But something in that voice… that calm, steady voice—it wraps around my ribs like wire and holds me still.
I turn, just a little.
And there he is.
Helmet off now. Tousled black hair clinging to his forehead, damp with sweat or wind. Dark eyes, unreadable. That same bruised jaw from the fight. That same calm chaos in the way he stands, like he’s always ready to run or punch something—but right now, he’s doing neither.
He holds out the receipt between two fingers, casual like he’s done nothing unusual.
I don’t take it.
I can’t move.
I just stare at him, half-hidden behind the oversized hoodie and fogged-up glasses, knowing full well there’s nothing about me worth noticing—but he still is.
His eyes linger for a second.
Not in a gross way.
Just… curious.
Like he’s trying to place me.
“You are familiar, didn’t we spoke this weekend after my fight?” he says, voice soft but certain.
I don’t answer.
I can’t.
He waits a second longer, like he’s giving me a chance to say something—to confirm or deny or at least react—but I just stand there, frozen in oversized fabric and fear.
“Didn’t mean to scare you,” he says after a moment, voice even lower now. Almost gentle. “You okay?”
Something in me cracks.
I shake my head—not to answer the question, but to shake off the moment. The whole thing. Him. This.
I take a shaky step back, then another, until I turn away again. This time, I do walk.
Fast.
He doesn’t follow.
But I can still feel his eyes on me.
And it hurts in a way I wasn’t ready for.
By the time I get back to my apartment, I’m sweating under my hoodie even though it’s barely 65 degrees out. My legs feel like they’re made of wet sand. I shut the door behind me, double lock it, and lean against it like maybe it’ll hold me up better than my spine currently can.
What the actual fuck just happened?
I drop the plastic bag on the kitchen counter and stare at it like it might answer me.
How the hell did he end up here?
What are the odds? No—seriously. Statistically. What are the goddamn odds that Jungkook, bruised, violent, beautiful Jungkook, the guy from the underground fight club with a face like a problem I’d never solve—what are the odds that he parks his sleek-ass murder-cycle right in front of my stupid corner store?
Does he live around here?
Does he live on my street?
Fucking hell.
My head spins. I kick off my shoes and shuffle toward my room like a zombie with trust issues. I don’t even bother with lunch. I just face-plant onto my bed and let out a strangled scream into my pillow.
Muffled, of course. Don’t want the neighbors to call someone.
My brain is already galloping down all the wrong roads.
What if he does live nearby? What if I see him again? What if he recognizes me next time, not just as “the girl from the fight” or “the hoodie gremlin who nearly dropped her sandwich,” but me—the real, fragile, overthinking version who wears pain like perfume and flinches when people care?
God, what if he saw through me already?
I roll onto my back and stare at the ceiling.
And just like that, it begins.
The daydream.
The soft edges blur and shift, my breathing slows, and the version of reality I can actually tolerate starts to take shape.
In this one, I’m still me—but I’m her, too.
The cooler version. The one who didn’t flinch. Who took the receipt with a small smirk, thanked him, maybe even made a joke that made his bruised mouth curve into a smile.
Maybe he would’ve asked my name.
Maybe I would’ve told him.
Maybe we would’ve sat on the curb, talking about the way silence sometimes feels safer than words. Maybe he would’ve looked at me like I wasn’t invisible. Like I wasn’t too much or not enough or anything in between.
In this version, I’m magnetic. Mysterious. Someone he wants to chase.
Not someone who runs.
Not someone who hides.
But the fantasy falters the second my phone buzzes.
A calendar notification.
Break over. Back to work.
I blink, and the ceiling collapses.
The daydream dissolves like mist under a spotlight.
And I’m back here again.
Greasy hair. Unanswered emails. Sandwich still untouched on the counter.
I sit up with a groan and reach for my laptop, the screen lighting up with the cruel reminder that no matter how hard I try to disappear, the world still expects me to perform.
Because I don’t get to be the girl in the fantasy.
I just get to pretend I'm okay for eight more hours.
-
It’s been three days.
Three long, weirdly quiet days since that day outside the convenience store.
He didn’t follow me.
He didn’t try to talk to me again.
But I haven’t stopped thinking about it.
Or him.
Or the way his voice sounded when he said “hey” like it wasn’t a loaded word, like it didn’t feel like it cracked something open in my chest.
But today, I need air.
I’ve answered all my emails. Sat through two Zoom meetings where I didn’t say a word. Ate half a protein bar and convinced myself that counted as lunch. The weather’s decent. Grey sky, soft breeze. Not hot, not cold. The kind of weather that makes you feel invisible in a good way.
So I shower. Real clothes aren’t an option—my body still feels like a burden—but I pull on my cleanest hoodie and loose cargo pants. I throw on some concealer, smudge some eyeliner. Just enough to look… functional. Human-adjacent. Lip balm, not lipstick.
My comfort zone.
I pop a Red Bull from the fridge, grab my lighter and smokes, and head out.
The walk to the park is quiet. Familiar. It’s only a few blocks away—lined with sad little trees, apartment windows with peeling paint, and the occasional dog-walker tugging along a leash like it’s a lifeline.
By the time I get there, I’m already feeling a little lighter.
I head straight to the bench.
My bench.
The one facing the outdoor fitness area. It’s a concrete platform with metal bars and makeshift equipment—mostly used by shirtless guys trying to impress no one in particular. Usually, I avoid the place when it’s busy. But I’ve learned the timing.
Late afternoons on weekdays? It’s usually empty.
Quiet enough to breathe.
I sit down, crack the can open with a hiss, and take a long sip. The carbonation burns down my throat, sharp and sweet. I pull a cigarette from my sleeve and light it, the flame catching with a soft flick. First drag, and the world slows down.
My mind goes quiet.
For once.
I exhale smoke into the open air, let it drift above me, unfurling like a sigh I didn’t know I was holding.
And then—I see him.
At first, I don’t realize it’s him.
I just register movement.
Someone using the pull-up bar.
Shirtless. Muscled. Moving with a kind of effortlessness that makes my stomach flip.
I glance up, casual.
And freeze.
It’s him.
Jungkook.
His back is to me, muscles flexing as he pulls himself up again and again, like he’s chasing something only he can see. The tattoos on his arms are vivid under the dull light, ink curling down to his wrist in sharp, beautiful lines.
He drops down from the bar, hands on his hips, chest heaving with each breath.
He’s glowing with sweat.
And for a second—I forget how to exist.
He doesn’t see me.
Not yet.
I duck my head fast, pulling my hoodie slightly forward like it’s a curtain I can hide behind. I take another drag of my cigarette, hoping the smoke masks the sudden panic rising in my throat.
Why is he here?
Again?
Does he live around here? Was Katherine right?
Or is this just some twisted coincidence?
He wipes his face with the edge of his tank top, and I catch a glimpse of more tattoos on his ribs—black ink over golden skin—and I have to look away. My heart’s beating like I’ve done a line of adrenaline instead of just caffeine and smoke.
I shouldn't be looking.
He’s not for me.
He’s a storm in a human body. A fighter. A blur of danger and sharp edges.
And I’m just… this.
This hoodie.
This body.
This invisible mess on a park bench, pretending the world isn’t too much.
But even as I look away—
I can feel it.
That shift.
That pull.
And when I glance back, just once, just quick—
His eyes are on me.
Right on me.
Unmistakable.
Direct.
Not in a flirty, playful, hey-girl way.
No.
It’s deeper than that.
Like he remembers me.
Like he sees something he doesn’t quite understand.
I look away so fast I almost drop my Red Bull.
My fingers are shaking again.
What the fuck is happening?
Why does it feel like he’s always three steps ahead of where I want him to be?

- Matt comforts insecure reader -
Dating a blind guy is very different from any other relationship you've had for very obvious reasons. Not only is it an adjustment going out with and even living with someone that can't see, but Matt is different. He has senses that other blind people don't which makes things even harder. You love Matt but that doesn't mean it's not an adjustment.
Obviously he can't see you but he knows everything about you. He knows the basics of how you look but not the details. Sometimes that's hard. Only because you fear he has some other idea of you in his head. Like the real you can't match up to the look of you he has in his head.
It's silly, you know, but it's not like you can just get rid of the thoughts in your head. Matt can tell something's wrong, a bonus of his super senses. So far though, he hasn't asked about it. He's learned over time to give you a little bit of time to process your issue before he tries to get involved.
It's not his fault, simply your insecurities getting the best of you. It'll be fine you tell yourself, wondering around the apartment you now share with Matt. Maybe that's where it's coming from. You guys have always spent a lot of time together but now your space is his, and when you want space to yourself, you don't have a separate apartment to hide in. You certainly don't want that but what if he does?
You turn on some music to fill your rattled brain. Nothing loud but enough to distract your thoughts. You soon turn from wondering to cleaning. It's become a daily habit since Matt rarely has time. You have no problem doing it because you know it makes Matt feel slightly better. Not as much dust and grime for his senses to focus on.
You're very ingrained in your scrubbing of the counter when you hear the door shut.
"Hey, Matty." You call out to greet him, not taking your attention off the counter for a second.
"Hi." His faces lights up as he sees you. "How was your day?" He asks, planting a soft kiss on your temple.
"Not nearly as eventful as yours I imagine." You smile, turning around to meet his beaming face. He has already taken off his suit jacket while walking towards you and has began loosening his tie. Giving him that slightly casual look that you know and love.
"I actually think that's true today, though the most amusing part of it was hearing Foggy fall out of his chair not once but twice within a twenty minute period." You listen intently to his words as you finish wiping off the counter. His words get quieter as he slowly makes his way to the bedroom for more comfortable clothes.
You know Matt feels a great pressure to keep the city safe by going out every night, but your favorite night of the week is the one where you've both agreed he stays in. One of the few requests you had when moving in.
"How the hell did he manage that?" You chortle, imagining it in your head. You can hear Matt's laugh from the other room.
"I have no clue, you'd think he'd learn after the first time." He comes back into the living space wearing black sweatpants and a plain t-shirt. After you got together, you had to take Matt shopping for new, plain, clothes considering most of the ones he owned had something stupid and possibly embarrassing on them due to Foggy, bright colors and big slogans. "I heard him whine about it for the rest of the day."
"At least your days aren't boring like the other lawyers."
"That's definitely a plus of partnering with him."
This is the best part of your day. Talking to him about your days and gossiping about the people you know, plus all the people Matt hears about during the day. The only problem seems to be the words that won't leave your head.
"How do you feel about spaghetti for dinner?" You ask him as he grabs a water out of the fridge. Usually, he'd grab a beer but out of fear for his liver you haven't bought any in a week.
"Sounds perfect. How can I help?"
"I can do it, you worked all day."
"Worked is a loose term." He laughs to himself. You and he both know a lot of their work consists of finding new cases.
"You can boil the pasta if you want to be helpful."
"Oh that's easy. It's almost as if you don't believe in my culinary skills."
You turn and give him a stare that makes him smirk. "Matthew, I know what you lived on before I moved in."
"Okay water it is." He gives you get another kiss before searching for a suitable pot.
You hum along to the soft background music as you and Matt work on your tasks. Once he's done with his, he stands right beside you in silence.
"So." He starts.
"So?" You repeat.
"I didn't want to bring this up but I think it's important-"
"That sounds scary."
"For me, yes. I talked to Karen today."
Oh fuck. To say Karen knows your deepest darkest secrets would be an understatement. For Matt to start a conversation like this about her, she told him something. Something you're know wracking your brain to figure out.
It's not that you think Karen would sell you out. But Matt is very charming and sometimes you find yourself telling him things without even realizing.
"I would hope so." You try to play it off like you're not immensely worried about his coming words. "She is your secretary."
"I don't think she'd appreciate that title." He laughs nervously. You know he's nervous because his glasses are still on. He's trying to make sure you can't read him at the moment.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't want it to seem like I was invading your privacy."
"Matt, you always do that. You hear literally everything I do."
"Yes but this feels different."
"You wouldn't have started this conversation if you didn't have something to say so please get on with it."
"I heard you talking to Karen the other day when she was over. And I tried not to read too much into it but then I talked to her today and I'm officially reading into it."
"Karen and I have talked about a lot of things, that doesn't really help me understand."
You try to seem nonchalant by stirring the pasta sauce.
"I heard you telling her how you don't think you live up the version of you I have in my head." He whispers the words as if that'll make it easier. Of course. Out of everything he could've heard, it was the one thing you really, really don't want to talk about. You know Matt isn't going to let this go until you answer all his questions.
"That was over a week ago." You whisper over the sauce.
"I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. But I only heard a part of what you said and I couldn't handle not knowing the rest."
A heavy sigh escapes you. It's not his fault. You are still adjusting to how much he can hear from so far so you didn't even think about that when he came home that day. You also can't fault him for wanting to know more, if the roles were reversed you would've gone to Foggy to know more almost immediately.
"You obviously weren't supposed to hear that." You turn off the stove top and look at him. "I don't suppose we can keep acting like you know nothing about that?" Your words come out with a hopeful tone.
"No we can't. Sweetheart, how can you feel like that? Have I made you doubt yourself like this?" He pulls you away from the kitchen and pushes you to sit next to him on the couch.
"You have done nothing Matt. You're perfect. I just can't get it out of my mind that every time you're complimenting me, it's not actually me. It's the more beautiful version of me you have in your head." He already knows enough, might as well tell him the rest.
"I know what you look like. Maybe I can't see every detail but I know enough to know every compliment I've ever given you, has been for you. I can't see everything on your face but I can sort of see the shape of you."
You're just now realizing you've never actually asked Matt what he can see. Knowing he was blind you always figured he couldn't see anything.
"What do you see?" You ask now.
"It's difficult to explain. I see certain figures but not all the time. It's kinda like flames that prevent me from seeing things but they don't always stay in the same spot."
"So how are you so confident I'm the same that you think I am?" He moves closer to hold your hand and lean more against you.
"Because I've had everyone describe you. Foggy, Karen, even Frank at one point. And I've felt your face a lot, enough to understand the shape of everything. Your eyes, lips, nose. Everything that makes you, you."
"Feeling is different than seeing."
"For other people yes. For me, this is the only way I know a lot of things. It's the way I've learned to know things so I'm better at it. I don't need to see every detail when everything I've felt is beyond perfect."
You feel tears appear in your waterline. Leave it to Matt to know the perfect thing to say. Always.
"When I say you're perfect for me, I mean it. More than anything."
He wipes the tears off your face the second they begin to fall.
"You're perfect for me too, Matty."
"Good." He states. "You're gonna be with for the rest of forever."
"That's a nice plan."

please humor me as i share with you one of my recurring daydreams/ scenarios before bed: pop star! reader x pro player! kaiser
prior to your relationship, your reputation preceded you. though you're one of the biggest names on the world stage, you're by no means a "diva" in the traditional sense; you also grew up in a poor neighborhood with a family who didn't care about you until you made it big, and you elevated yourself through your own hard work and talent. despite your fame and wealth, your fans sing your praises about how genuine and down-to-earth you are, and other celebrities you've allowed into your inner circle talk about how kind and caring you are in interviews of their own.
so when michael kaiser of all people approaches you, your friends are understandably incredibly territorial and hostile toward him.
but you give him a chance anyways— he is quite the flatterer, and that face is virtually impossible to say no to.
you were only ever supposed to be yet another stepping stone to put kaiser further into the limelight, just another box to check on his path to being the greatest. except, you had insisted that you two keep your relationship private for as long as possible; you'd seen how your peers' relationships often imploded after going public, and your friends told you that asking him to keep things under wraps was a good way to test if he actually wanted the relationship, or if he was just interested in your name. he agreed, figuring that you'll ease up eventually.
it's not easy by any means; the mask comes off long before you two go public, and you quickly come to understand why so many of his own teammates tend to keep him at arm's length. his insecurity is a deep-rooted, festering thing, manifesting as cold derision and a push-pull attitude that leaves you reeling and always guessing as to how he'll react to your affection in the moment.
and yet, you stay.
you could have anyone in the world, but you stay with him. you've seen the broken, bitter man hiding behind the pretty face and still haven't walked away. your friends tell you that you could do better, that you deserve better, and they're right, he knows it— but you never agree with them, and you never leave, either.
it gets better with time, as he learns to trust you. allow you inside, in response to the way you've accepted him wholly into your heart, flaws and all. improving himself is a struggle, but he's trying, and that's enough for you.
you've been together for a bit over two and a half years when he finally brings it up again. it's a lazy night; your tour ended a week ago, and now you're in munich, cuddled up against him on the couch and scrolling through your phone while he picks apart his most recent match, which is playing on the TV.
"liebling," he says, hand pausing where it was combing through your hair. you look up, expression as painfully indulgent of his whims as always. "what do you think about going public?"
you put your phone down at that. you place a gentle hand on his knee, smiling slightly. "if that's what you want," you answer. "i've just been waiting for you."
in an interview a month later, you "accidentally" let it slip that you're in a relationship—and it's going on three years.
the internet blows up with speculations as to who your mysterious boyfriend could be. your friends drop hints and jokes here and there, but no one can quite guess who it is, even with the help. the closest anyone gets is guessing it's isagi yoichi, who you had seemed friendly with when attending a gala for a fashion outlet you both have contracts with. of course, they couldn't possibly know you were familiar with him because he's your boyfriend's teammate, but regardless, the tantrum that results from those speculations leaves you and the münchen lineup amused for days—at the unfortunate expense of one of the team's twin aces, who swiftly denies being involved with you like that.
the public finally gets their answer at the next big industry award show, conveniently being hosted in paris the same week bastard münchen has a game against pxg. at this point, your fanbase is certain you're with an athlete of some sort, courtesy of your friends' hints, but they still haven't been able to place who or what sport.
when you show up on the red carpet donning a simple gold chain necklace with a beautifully crafted blue rose charm hanging off of it, sitting between your collarbones, the internet blows up.
and when you post a mirror selfie to your instagram story later that night, smiling at your phone as the picture shows nothing more than an arm wrapped around your waist—one covered in extremely recognizable tattoos—the platform goes down for nearly twenty minutes. which somehow pales in comparison to your phone freezing and crashing from the sheer amount of notifications you're getting.
well, it's not like you'd be able to pay any attention to the public reaction, anyways—not when the cause of the commotion is already pulling you toward the bed by the waist, fully intending to indulge in what the world finally knows is his, as much as he is yours.

Man, no wonder Stolas got literal heart eyes after Blitz did this. This was his "Harriet! Don't get on that train!" moment, the big gesture he so desperately wanted just so he'd know that Blitz really did care about him enough to want him to stay. He had been so sure that that was going to be the last time he ever saw Blitz, that the last thing he ever did would be saving Blitz's life, and Blitz's response was to fight against the chains dragging him away just so he could run to Stolas with a desperate, heart-wrenching plea not to sacrifice himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blitz had thought for sure that he'd never be able to give Stolas the kind of dramatic romcom moment Stolas longed for, but the joke's on him and us, because even though we all knew he would inevitably end up giving Stolas one and were eagerly awaiting it, no one expected it to be like that. And yet, the writers pulled through for us once again, because there really could not have been a more meaningful and moving way for him to have done so.
Anything where Blitz actually said something along the lines of "don't get on that train", could have been misconstrued by both Stolas and irl media illiterate viewers as Blitz just saying what Stolas wanted to hear without actually meaning it (assuming Stolas even remembers that conversation). But there was nothing contrived about this, there was no time for him to have possibly thought about any potential romcom moments at all; he just saw that he was about to lose Stolas for good and fought as hard and as frantically as he could, just to beg Stolas not to take the fall for him. To not love him so much that he'd think Blitz was worth protecting with his very life.
And I don't even think he realizes just how much that meant to Stolas, to know that the man he loves would fight for him with such fervor, despite knowing that it was a fruitless effort. Blitz, without knowing it and without even realizing just how much raw, earnest, desperate love he was displaying, gave Stolas exactly the kind of overt and undeniable proof that he was loved and wanted that he had always needed.
Except that, as Stolas has already found out, that's not enough. He made his big gesture to Blitz and Blitz made one to him, and that's a great start, but love's not just shown through grand gestures and they're not what'll help you pick up the pieces when your world falls apart.
The smaller, softer, quieter gestures of love are what Stolas will need most going forward, but for someone who has received as little love in his life as Stolas has, who has suffered from depression for ages, and who has just lost almost everything (including his antidepressants!), it might end up being hard for him to tell the difference between what is done out of love and what is done out of mere obligation to repay a debt. Not to worry, though, because he'll learn how to spot it soon enough.
He'll see that sometimes love is shown by taking care of someone when they don't have the strength to do it themselves
Tumblr media
And by taking them by the hand and giving them a place to rest when it all becomes too much for them to bear
Tumblr media
And by catching them when they fall, even when you're upset with each other
Tumblr media
And by being so comforting that they feel safe falling asleep and leaving themselves vulnerable next to you without any hesitation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps the greatest injustice the world has dealt to Blitz is by convincing him that he ruins lives, when the truth is that the person behind his walls has a way of loving people that is so incredibly healing. Simply by being his real, honest self, he manages to give the people he cares about the kind of love they need the most, without even trying. Without even noticing how much his words and actions have affected them for the better.
And now that those walls have started to drop, his loved ones have been able to start showing how much they love and want to support him as well. I have faith that once Stolas has cottoned on to the little ways Blitz has been showing him that he cares, that he'll start reciprocating those gestures. The man is such a romantic and in the song Just Look My Way he even says "I can give you everything you need" as well as "and no matter what in this world I could give, it's not enough"; there's no way he won't eventually try to provide for and take care of Blitz once he's well enough to. He just needs some time to heal, and until then Blitz will be there, giving him the love and care that he needs to keep his head above water.
Tl;dr: all the people who said that Blitz would never be able to give Stolas what he needs in a partner have just been proven dead wrong on all counts, and will continue to be proven so.

NERD!ANAKIN HEADCANONS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TW: at some point it contains sexual content, so if you're sensitive to that or don't feel comfortable with it, please do not read it for your own safety and comfort.
Author's note: thinking about some nerd!anakin fic where he had heard the reader talk with her friends that she's not passing physics and since he has the biggest crush on her since second grade he later suggest to help her..if she'll help him with something else ;)
Nerd!Anakin who inside was a little dirty minded boy that wished nothing more to have a loving girlfriend to do with her all the cool, nice things he always wanted to do (and he meant more joyful activities than sex)
Nerd!Anakin who has a collection of technical manuals and scientific holobooks that he reads in his spare time. His nightstand is filled with them, and he gets excited when a new one comes out. He’ll stay up late, curled up on the couch, devouring a manual on hyperdrive mechanics or some obscure sci-fi novel, eyes glued to the hologram.
He also loves telling you all about the technical details of what he's learning. You may not always understand everything he’s talking about, but his excitement is so adorable that you just let him ramble on.
Nerd!Anakin who has a soft spot for droids, and he might even give them 'upgrades' just because he thinks they deserve a treat. “You’ve been working hard, buddy. How about a new power cell?”. He’ll talk to them while he works, explaining what he’s doing like they’re his assistants (his fav is R2D2 obviously)
Nerd!Anakin who gets ridiculously excited about the latest gadgets or tech upgrades. When something new comes out, he’s like a kid in a candy store. Whether it's a new holo-terminal, a high-speed pod engine - he’s always the first in line to get it. He’ll show it off to you, explaining every little detail with enthusiasm. “Look at this! It has a new feature that triples efficiency!” He gets that adorable spark in his eye, completely geeking out over the smallest improvements.
Nerd!Anakin who would love when you'd do your nails; he'd ask soon later (when you two are alone) if you could play with his hair to only feel you scratch very gently against his scalp
Nerd!Anakin who was a great whimpering mess whenever you touched him (poor guy had never felt woman's touch before);
a sharp gasp left his mouth as you touched the mushroomy tip of his member, his hips jerking towards you without thought. he was already embarrassingly close, and now your teasing was only driving him closer to the edge “please-“ he let out a pleading moan, the words barely leaving his dry mouth
"please what ani? Use your words like good boys do"
He tried to focus enough to form a coherent sentence but it was getting so hard when all his mind could focus on, was the way you made him feel “I’m close-“ he gasped out, his hips rocking frantically against your tightening fist “I’m so close baby, i need it” he let out a sobbing whimper
"can you hold it in a little?" you asked gently
he groaned at the question before nodding almost desperately “for you, anything” his glasses sliding down his nose
You only hummed, all proud of your actions. How easily you could tear him apart by your single touch. Using her free hand to move his glasses so they were a bit more comfortable on him. You increased your movements, making sure to
he could feel the heat in his abdomen tighten as your hand moved faster. he was struggling to keep himself together, not much to your surprise "oh-oh god-“ he let out a loud gasp and a groan as your thumb moved over his tip again, that little touch sending electricity up his spine “oh-fuck…” one hand digging into the couch for some kind of grip “I can’t hold it—please please please” tears of desperation and overwhelming began to prick at the corner of his eyes
Nerd!Anakin who when was nervous, draw circles and designs on the back of your hand to relax himself
Nerd!Anakin who did your own minifigure from Legos
Nerd!Anakin who always had perfectly ironed shirts
Nerd!Anakin who in general was perfectionist in everything he'd do. If he had a mess in his room, he couldn't focus normally. If just one thing was moved inches apart, it drove him wild
Nerd!Anakin who made cupcakes with his mother for you
Nerd!Anakin who's a true mommy's boy
Nerd!Anakin who teared up after you gave him his first blowjob. He felt so overstimulated when his thick member was hugged around your warm throat, your tongue working on his shaft..it was way too much for the first time, he'd gasp and ask you to slow down because if you wouldn't, you'd already have his cum dripping down your throat
Nerd!Anakin who gave you flowers - sometimes real one and sometimes he'd do them from origamy
Nerd!Anakin who has a little sketchbook where he draws schematics for future projects—droid designs, custom technology accessories, etc. He’s always thinking of new ways to improve things, and his sketches are filled with intricate details and notes.
Sometimes, he’ll show you a design he’s particularly proud of, grinning ear to ear as he explains how it works. “What do you think? Pretty sleek, huh?”
Nerd!Anakin who was a true worshipper of your body. Would press such gentle kisses all over your body as if you were a ceramic doll he was scared to break
Nerd!Anakin who's glasses got foggy everytime he made love to you, his curls sticking to his forehead and his pinky, swollen lips quivering to hold back his own orgasm
Nerd!Anakin who adored math and physics (but not as much as he adored you). And of course, he loved to help you with those subjects
Nerd!Anakin ho invited you to weekly movie marathon. With all the snacks ready and a fluffy blanket
Nerd!Anakin who adored to cuddle with you. It was something so precious for him, and whenever he had a chance, he'd just wrap his arms around your waist from behind and nuzzle to your soft neck
Nerd!Anakin who liked to play with your hair like brushing them out of your face, twirling the strand around his finger and watch intensively, as if it was the most important/gorgeous/captivating sight he had seen, how it hugged his finger so perfectly
Nerd!Anakin who had his 'sexual education' with you;
Anakin hesitantly reached out, his hand trembling as he lifted it towards your chest. He hesitates for a moment once more, not sure if he's ready to do that. He just felt so sinful watching you naked..but oh so good.. so, before the thoughts would envelope his entire mind, he gently cupped one of your round, full breasts. He instantly marveled at, not only the softeneness but the weight, the way it filled his palm, how it was so beautiful, seeing your raspberry ripple hidden thanks to his large hand made him feel so fuzzy all inside
As he squeezed the soft globe tentatively, feeling its weight sprawl all over his senses, he couldn't help but let out a low moan, his body responding to the newfound pleasure. Guilty feelings fade away, leaving him all needy for more of you. His fingertips graze over your nipple to harden it, eliciting a soft gasp from both of you. He looked up at you, his eyes filled with wonder. "I-how i-" he stuttered shyly "-what should I do now?"
"whatever you want..you can kiss it, play with it, anything you want Annie"
Anakin's eyes widen at your words. To have the whole access to your body felt more pleasurable than anything in his life. He leaned in, pressing a soft, tentative kiss to the underside of your breast. You gazed down at how his glasses pressed against your skin, making your breath hitched. He then brought his hand up to gently squeeze and caress the soft mound at your left breast, almost nuzzling to the right one. He looked back up at you, seeking approval, as if not sure if he could go any further
"go on, they're all yours" you encouraged
Anakin smiles shyly at your encouragement, feeling emboldened. He starts to kiss and lick at your breasts, alternating between the two. He gently nibbles on your nipples, sucking on them and releasing them with soft popping sounds. "Ahh... they're so soft... and t-tasty..." he mumbled the last part more quietly, as if embarrassed that he actually thought about your breasts in that way
he accidentally uses a bit too much pressure with his teeth, causing you to hiss in pain. He immediately freezes, his eyes filled with worry. "I'm so sorry... did I hurt you?" His voice soft, laced with adorable concern.
"no--its okay..just try to use a little less teeth..and relax"
Anakin nods, his expression turning gentle again. He leans back in, this time more careful, his touch feather-light. He alternates between sucking and licking, paying close attention to the way you react to his touch. "Like this?" He asks softly, his voice muffled against your skin.
"just like that" you tugged on his curls
After the moaned sentence left your mouth, Anakin felt a surge of pride. He continues his gentle ministrations, his own body growing harder with each passing moment. He looks up at you,l with his eyes hooded. "Can I... can I kiss you lower now?"
Nerd!Anakin who was scared to eat you out at first, cause it'd be his very much first pussy. But when he did, he had no idea how to do it. He used his teeth a little too much, his tongue a bit too forceful but in time he got better
Nerd!Anakin who loves space documentaries. He'll make you sit with him on the couch to watch them, enthusiastically pointing out facts you didn’t even know he knew. He’s the type to lean over and say things like, “Did you know that this system’s star is actually binary? And it formed 4.6 billion years ago?”
Nerd!Anakin who uses cheesy, nerdy pick-up lines that leave you both laughing. He’s the kind of guy who would say, “Are you made of copper and tellurium? Because you’re Cu-Te.” He says it with so much confidence that you can’t help but find it endearing.
When you tease him about it, he’ll get all flustered, scratching the back of his head with that sheepish grin. “I thought it was clever..and you'd like it, maybe give me a small kiss or something.."
Nerd!Anakin who is fiercely protective of his tech projects. If someone tries to mess with them or touch his tools without asking, he’ll get all defensive. “Hey, be careful with that! I’ve been working on this for weeks.”
But when it’s you? He lets you mess with his projects all you want, even if it makes him a bit nervous. He’ll give you a dorky smile and say, “Just don’t break it, okay?” But secretly, he loves sharing his passions with you.
Nerd!Anakin who, as smart as he is with machines, is absolutely terrible in the kitchen. He’ll try to make you dinner as a sweet surprise, but something always goes wrong—he burns the food, the recipe doesn’t turn out, or the kitchen ends up looking like a disaster zone.
He’ll stand there, looking embarrassed but hopeful, holding a burnt dish with a lopsided grin. “Uh, it’s a little... crispy..”
Nerd!Anakin who leaves you small, nerdy notes;
On a sticky note on your fridge
"You’re the binary star to my existence. Without you, my orbit is off. Also, I reprogrammed the toaster. You're welcome.”
In your notebook or planner
“If I could rewrite the laws of physics, I'd bend space-time just to spend an extra 5 minutes with you.”
"The only code I can’t crack? How you make my heart race this fast.
Tucked inside your favorite book
“You're like the perfect algorithm: complex, beautiful, and always leaving me wanting to solve the equation that is you.”
On your desk after a long day
“You must have a gravity field around you, because I can't seem to stay away. P.S. Check under the desk, I might've added a small modification.”
Next to your coffee in the morning
"You must be a supernova, because you light up my entire galaxy."
Left on the keyboard of your laptop
“I may be fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, but none can express how much you mean to me. Except maybe binary: 01001001 00100000 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101.”
On a scrap of paper in your bag
“If life were an RPG, you’d be the rarest item—a perfect balance of stats, charisma, and intelligence. Also, +100 beauty.”
Tucked in between your sketchpad pages (if you're into art)
“You’re the canvas, I’m the artist... together, we create the perfect masterpiece. P.S. I’m still better at drawing starships though.”
Left in your lunchbox
“Did you know you increase productivity in starship repairs by 43% just by being near me? I’d call that a superpower.”
Taped to a little DIY gadget he made for you
“This little thing is just like you—ingenious and holds everything together. Also, try pressing the blue button for a surprise.”
Next to your favorite snack
“You’re like the perfect engineering schematic: flawless in design, and I can’t stop marveling at the details.”
In your locker
"I’d cross the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs just to see your smile."
“Did you know a day on Venus is longer than a year? Just like how waiting to see you again feels like”

JJK Men - Love or Be Loved?
In which we explore whether the JJK men prefer loving or being loved!
Ask box is open! Please feel free to request!
Feat. Nanami Kento, Gojo Satoru, Geto Suguru, Kamo Choso, Fushiguro Toji, and Ryomen Sukuna!
Tumblr media
Nanami Kento
Mr. Nanami "Husband Material" Kento
Take one look at this man and tell me he wouldn't move heaven and earth for his S/O!
I think he has seen so much pain in the world through his work as a sorcerer and as an office worker at a suspicious company
He always puts others ahead of himself, we can see it a lot through his interactions with Yuji where he simply does not let Yuji handle things himself because Yuji is literally just a kid
(Nanami is the only one with common sense btw. Like WHYYYY ARE WE SENDING TEENAGERS TO FIGHT LITERAL NIGHTMARE MONSTERS.)
I think that his sense of responsibility plays a big part in him preferring to be on the giving end of all the loving
"I'm responsible for you now" is his love language if that makes sense.
He expresses his care for others by looking after them!
Tumblr media
Gojo Satoru
Both
Are you kidding?
Gojo "Loverboy" Satoru
Gojo grew up obviously very neglected and objectified.
Even in modern Jujutsu society, people saw him as nothing more than a weapon!!!
I think that he would love to love on his S/O relentlessly
It gets kinda embarrassing sometimes
Would unironically do that one scene from Descendants where the prince confesses his undying love for Mal in the most public, musical, fantastical, sparkly way
But he means it in the best possible way <3
HOWEVER
it does things to him to be loved genuinely and wholly for him, not for his titles or powers
It would definitely be a healing experience for him
Because then suddenly he feels like a part of him that was missing is returned
So yeah Gojo would go either way. Mutually assured loving all around
Tumblr media
Geto Suguru
Being Loved
Wow you're telling me the mass murderer cult leader wants adoration? No shit
But I digress
Apart from the glaringly obvious reasons, he, like Nanami, has seen the harsh realities of the world through the eyes of a sorcerer
However as we have most certainly observed this man has a power trip problem
If I hear him say "monkeys" one more time I'm reporting him for a hate crime
I think at his core Geto craves recognition and appreciation for all the sacrifices he and his loved ones have made for others
So he most certainly enjoys being loved on by his S/O more than anything else
Can we put him in therapy? Maybe enroll him in a DEI course? Please?
Tumblr media
Kamo Choso
Ooooooooh this is hard
Because on one hand:
It is quite literally in Choso's nature to love
We see it with his brothers and how deeply he cares
Therefore it would make sense that he would show lots of love to his S/O!!!
BUT
I think that once Choso gets a taste of being loved on, he'll start following his S/O with big sad eyes until he gets a kiss or a hug or a touch on the shoulder
Choso is still learning the intricacies of being human and the concept of being cared for in such a way might really impact him
So I come to the conclusion that Choso prefers loving his S/O because it's what comes most naturally (and he's a big sweetheart) (ignore all the destruction he caused in Shibuya he's a changed man) but also loved to be loved on
He's similar to Gojo in this way but what sets them apart is that while Gojo is much more upfront about wanting affection, Choso will silently follow his S/O around like a shadow with big sad eyes until they notice what he needs
Tumblr media
Fushiguro Toji
Ironically? I think he likes to do the loving
Like don't get me wrong
He's broke
He's an assassin
He has a gambling problem
(isn't he dreamy?)
But he comes off to me as someone who prefers to be the one showing love
Partially because he's not quite sure how to act when he's being loved on
But I think he loves from a distance. He doesn't want his loved ones to be hurt or subjected to the more intense bits of his work
Even if that distant loving ultimately drives them away from him
He would prefer it like that than putting anyone he loves in harm's way
