he immediately takes a picture of it!! he plans on looking for you— aka stalking every single tattoo artistry page and the people they tag in their posts, also their criminal data bases, and looking at everyone’s right calf when he goes on patrol.

he’s hoping that IF you’re a criminal/villain, he could help you to become— well, NOT that.

he also goes to bakugo about this and asks if he saw anyone get a tattoo of it recently (because bakugo definitely would get tattoos, i just know it. it’d be all skull and fire themes too) (plus he recently got one) bakugo just says, “the fuck? you think i know everyone with a tattoo? what kind of dumb thinking is that?” and poor poor izuku is panicking because he upset bakugo (he actually didn’t, bakugo was just taken aback by the picture) izuku apologizes profusely (bc that’s his thing) and bakugo go just tells him to stfu and that he MIGHT know who tattooed the image because he recognizes the style. sooooo he takes izuku to the parlor and introduces him to…….

“dumbass, show me your right leg” bakugo yells in your small parlor, like an asshole. this makes you roll your eyes— you’re used to him, you’ve been tattooing him since you both were 19, which was when you finished your ‘tattoo training’. “keep talking to me like that and i’ll drop you from my cliental list,” you turn around after you finished sanitizing your station (bc all good artists do!!) “just show me your damn leg for the sake of this idiot,” he points towards izuku, that’s when everything goes in slow motion, and pro hero deku shines bright. he’s omitting a vibrant color and it’s nearly blinding (omg maybe your quirk is seeing/sensing auras)

(also, we’ll just say you’re wearing shorts for the sake of this)

you walk out from behind the barrier of the station and put your right leg on display. that’s when izuku chokes— it’s full of all the stencils he’s seen and… the villain tattoo. “fucking idiot, why would you tattoo a villain on you? you hate them,” bakugo slaps the side of your head, cause he’s an asshole. “cause it’s badass! plus it’s an old school villain, no one really knows ‘em.” you shrug and smack him back, narrowly avoiding his fresh tattoo (you wanted to hit it so bad) “anyways, why did you wanna know? and speak fast cause i have a client coming in twenty.” he forcefully takes izuku’s phone out of his hands, and shows it to you. “why am i looking at a blank screen? bakugo i don’t have time for this,” you push his hand back. “you didn’t let me unlock it,” izuku secretly rolls his eyes, you caught it though. he pulls up his gallery and shows a picture of his leg with your stencil on it.

your eyes narrow— not wanting to believe it cause like, you’re a small business owner and there’s no way a big time hero could be your soulmate. “yeah no, i have no time for bullshit. did someone send you this or something? trying to turn me in for a damn tattoo?” bakugo grumbles bc he’s ANNOYING (i love him) and grabs a pen. “draw something.” “you know i can’t with no reference. i’m shit without one.” “JUST DRAW! ON YOUR HAND! NOW!” “stop yelling all the damn time.” you grumbled and begrudgingly drew a horrible looking bunny. like— absolutely terrible !!! looking bunny onto your hand. bakugo, being the ass he is, RIPS off izuku’s glove and shoves his hand in your face. “bakugo. there’s nothing there. seriously you’re wasting my time, i need to set up. i don’t have time for jokes.” you go back to your station and start getting the ink ready. izuku rolls his eyes again— at his friend, not you. “that was the wrong hand,” he says in a slightly sassy tone, which was funny to hear from a pro hero. izuku takes his OTHER glove off and walks to you. “here,” he places his hand in front of you and you drop your tattooing gun.

“oh,” was all you said before walking into the back of your shop. you screamed a ‘what the fuck’ and walked right back out. “well, hi.” your smile is very awkward because like— how are you supposed to respond to that?? it’s not everyday that your soulmate ends up being a pro hero. “uhm… so can we meet after your uhm, next appointment?” he asks, very very shyly, it was like he was a high schooler all over again. you just give a head nod and write your personal number on the back of your business card. “uhm see you.”

months after that fateful day, you and izuku are officially together! he’s drawn you many designs for tattoos. (either for yourself or your clients)

now— izuku may be a very talented artist but when it comes to tattooing? absolutely not. he tried tattooing a small heart in between your fingers as a little practice thing and— let’s just say, it looks like a jacked star. (pls he felt so bad)

while it was a little ugly, you still loved it because he was the one to do it <3

OMG AND THE FIRST TIME YOU TATTOOED HIM— he tried not to cry. like— THIS MF USED TO BREAK HIS BONES DAILY!!! THIS MF FIGHTS BAD GUYS FOR A LIVING!!!! but it’s okay!! not everyone can handle getting a tattoo and that’s perfectly fine!!

I was thinking something in-between where it almost depends on how many xenos are there? Like if a queen is outputting hundreds then there’s not exactly a lot of time to give extra biomass and whatever else to each individual drone or runner. But if it’s just a few then it’s easier to do so. Or it could be something similar to a queen ant’s first few eggs and workers where they’re there to protect said queen and future eggs. Just where they could evolve into the equivalent of majors and super majors over time to do so even better. Because if those first few are killed off the whole colony is screwed, while in larger colonies you can have hundreds sacrificing themselves and it not affect the colony much at all. Idk if I’m explaining my thought process well at all lol

Omg the idea of Damian having flashes of memories from his MomDadTemplateQueenQueenQueen is amazing. I like to think the memories from previous lineages are more blurred than their usual vision, like they can perfectly recall it later, but it’s not a perfect picture if that makes sense? They can recall an old picture but if the picture is old and damaged then that’s what they’ll recall if that makes sense at all lol. Gosh poor boy has memories of fighting but not the muscle memory to pull it off and keeps getting distracted by the instinctive urge to find Bruce. Actually would the league even be aware of what Bruce is at first? Like would their blood still be acidic in human form or can they turn that off…

Gosh Jason’s return would probably be so different. I wanna say he’s slightly mindless after being revived not from the brain damage (well that too) but also because he’s slightly overwhelmed by memories of previous xenomorphs that are suddenly just there in his mind and he can’t forget them no matter how much he tries. Honestly tempting for Jason to scoop up Damian instinctively because he’s just a lil baby (to him) who is Not in a safe area and every instinct for both of them are screaming to get back to the hive. Probably not helped by Jason recently evolving since the Crusher is the runner equivalent of a praetorian, which are literally the caste that guards the queen and the young so… Yeah he suddenly has so many instincts pumped up to a thousand. 

Pfft, Bruce is so sad Jason is too big for him to carry him easily but he’s also just so relieved and happy to see that he’s alive. A little concerned about the small child with him that looks a bit too much like him and like Talia but well, two babies! Bonus baby for the price of one returning child! He can have a breakdown later.

Tusked were, well, tusked xenomorphs specifically bred by yautja to act as forced attack dogs, and the ones we know who were released and escaped were accepted by a queen as her own

Alpha warriors are canon and are slightly larger than other warriors, can command other warriors, and in some cases are more intelligent too. They're almost between warrior and praetorian in ranking.

The praetorian caste is also known as royal guards, because that's what they are in most cases. They protect the nest and eggs and queen, and if the queen dies they may replace the queen.

Canonically there was a comic where Batman fought against a giant crocodile alien (no it didn't come from Killer Croc thankfully lol) that he defeated by bleeding it out until the floor collapsed into lava

The xenomorphs have had a civil war before on their home planet for the Royal Jelly, the black xenomorphs and red xenomorphs both fighting each other for their queen to become the next Queen Mother

Did you know there's further castes beyond the queen? A queen can become a Matriarch, then an Empress, and then a Queen Mother

Crushers are the equivalent of praetorians for the runner castes, and are canonically the most armored outside the queen castes themselves.

There's a theory about the spines on the xenomorphs' backs, where the longer they are the stronger the xenomorph, at least for basic castes. However there's another theory that this is an age thing. Neither is confirmed.

Did you know that xenomorphs have worked with others several different times when they're under threat, especially the queens or young.

Xenomorphs have Eidetic memory, and can even access memories from previous xenomorphs along their bloodline.

Normal xenomorphs can eventually become queens, but a xenomorph can be born as one from a Royal Facehugger, which unlike normal facehuggers have two embryo: a queen and a drone/runner to protect said queen

There have been exotic xenomorphs that are individuals such as the tusked or the winged queens, usually altered genetically or with an incredibly rare host (for example a winged queen has canonically come from a vampire in the comics before)

All xenomorphs are female, save for a single individual created using human dna and other genetic manipulation that was known as the king xenomorph.

Other genetic hybrids have been created as well, the most well known being the Newborn but there have been more balanced ones as well such as Eloise (a vat-grown android-xeno hybrid) which can have abilties of both species

Fun fact: A chestburster will not emerge in someone with leprosy, staying dormant, and other xenomorphs will not attack the people due to them carrying said chestburster.

Yautja hunting parties will hunt hybrids more enthusiastically than normal base xenomorphs for both the challenge and in some cases thinking they're abominations, such as a Predalien (in which case elders are usually the one to hunt them)

However they will also use xenomorphs as mounts, attack dogs, and other such things. For example one yautja rode a xeno-rex in ancient times as a hunting steed.

Poor bby boy is so nervous. He doesn’t really get invited to weddings and so he’s a little clueless, like what is he even supposed to do? He will follow you around like a lost puppy.

He looks so precious in his fancy little outfit though? Of course you practically picked the whole thing out, but you have to admit it’s really nice to see him in something more formal for a change.

He will be tugging at his collar/tie, complaining to you that it’s itchy/tight/hot and you just have to elbow him in the ribs to get him to shut up & remind him that fashion is pain. He mutters that this is why he always wears t-shirts.

You keep glancing over at him during the ceremony, trying to gauge his reaction to everything, but his face literally does not move, so you really have no idea what’s going through his head. When you nudge his shoulder, he’ll look at you and smile a nice, real smile, and you can’t help but smile back.

He kind of loosens up a bit during the meal bc food, but there’s also your parents / siblings / cousins / whoever you’ve been seated with who keep asking him questions that he doesn’t know how to answer.

All of your relatives want to meet your boyfriend, so he’s a tiny bit overwhelmed but he actually does manage to smile & shake their hands at the very least.

Then comes the dancing part oh boy. He’s so stiff at first because he doesn’t really have a lot of dancing experience but if nothing else he’s a fast learner.

He actually finds the slow dances quite nice, because they don’t require much skill or effort, and he gets to hold you close. He murmurs about how nice you look today and you even share a few small kisses.

Overall he admits that he really did have a nice time. It’s not like it’s something he’d want to do every weekend or anything, but he enjoys almost anything he does with you.

The moment you get in the car to go home the collar is loosened and the tie is off.

AKAASHI

The ultimate gentleman. When he picks you up, he immediately tells you how great you look - the nerve, when he’s standing there looking like he just stepped out of a magazine spread.

He’s sort of a wedding natural. He’s very polite, and he’ll smile or make small talk with anyone who approaches him. He’s always kind of hovering right by you, though, and will have his hand at your elbow or back.

He glances over at you every so often during the ceremony, and when you catch him looking he’ll just shoot you this small, soft smile. Even if he doesn’t really know the couple, he still finds it sweet.

He’ll definitely have his arm nonchalantly around you during the ceremony, and every so often his fingers will brush your shoulder or your arm.

He gets along quite well with the people you’re seated with, and manages to effortlessly participate in the conversation when he’s brought into it.

He's weirdly popular with older people, and so all of the older people like your grandparents have to come up and tell you what a nice, polite, handsome boyfriend you have (his cheeks get just a little pink every time).

Dancing with him is really nice. He’s one of those people who’s good enough at it and can dance well enough, but he also isn’t the one to do anything flashy, which is perfectly fine with you.

You have this ongoing sort of flow of conversation while you’re dancing together, and you just kind of tell him about the people here that he doesn’t really know, the kinds of things you got up to with the bride/groom when you were kids, that sort of thing. It’s just nice and light.

Eventually though you both just fall silent and slow dance with your head on his shoulder, just kind of enjoying being close.

He really likes the opportunity to do special things like this with you every once in a while, and he tells you that he’s glad you invited him to come with you.

SUGAWARA

The two of you definitely went shopping together for coordinating outfits, and honestly the result is actually pretty great, you both end up getting a ton of compliments.

He’ll point out different things he notices about the venue that he likes, like the archway or the cute signs or the flower arrangements, and is he hinting toward something? Who knows. He probably doesn’t even know.

And during the ceremony, every so often he’ll lean toward you and whisper something small, like how sweet the vows were, and you just share a tiny smile.

He sort of becomes the life of the party? You introduce him to your cousins and aunts & uncles and grandparents, and he’s just so open and genuine and easygoing with them that they instantly fall in love with him.

Everybody at your table is laughing because of him, he has a thousand hilarious stories that he loves to break out at any opportunity, and they do not disappoint even though you’re rolling your eyes the whole time.

He will 100% try to rope you into doing the stupid dances that happen at every wedding (at least every wedding that I’ve been to in my part of the world) and even though at first you feel SO DUMB, eventually you realize that you’re laughing and breathless and actually having a lot of fun.

And then there’s the way he’s looking at you, and even though you’re doing a stupid dance and your hair is starting to get a little out of hand, he still looks so soft & like you’re the most perfect thing he’s ever seen.

Then there are the slow dances. He just holds you so close and presses a kiss to the top of your head or your forehead every once in a while. Every time you look at him, he’s smiling at you.

He just has a lot of fun at the wedding with you - he always has fun with you, and he makes sure that you know it. He wants to do this kind of thing with you for a long time.

He’s on his way to after-school practice, and is just heading past another one of the Nekoma gyms when he hears what sounds like someone playing volleyball

He’s super confused, because he knows that the girl’s team practice in the gym next to the boys team, and he could swear that this is NOT the boy’s gym that he’s looking for

Poor bby is so confused at first, but he kinda realizes that he can solve this problem pretty quick buy just,, looking in the gym

And he sees you, setting against the wall, facing towards him, but you clearly haven’t noticed his presence yet

He’s about to head over to talk to you, when he notices how the light catches your hair, how pretty your face looked, slightly screwed up in concentration on what you were doing

So he just stops for a second to appreciate how beautiful you look in the golden light of the sun

He’s knocked out of his trance by hearing the sound of Yaku shouting his name from behind him

“LEV!! Did you forget which gym we practice in or something?? Hurry up!!”

So he heads off, following Yaku to meet the rest of the team, and it’s already halfway through practice when he realizes that, although Yaku shouted him pretty close to the door of the gym, you hadn’t even looked up from what you were doing, your concentration hadn’t even faltered

This, on top of his desire to see you again, causes him to find himself heading back towards the same gym after practice is over, to see if you’re still there

He’s pretty disappointed when he sees that you’re not there anymore, but he’s also confused as to why that is

So the next day, when he’s on his way to practice, he looks through the door to find you there again, still practicing your volleyball skills

It turns into a bit of a routine, but not like he’s stalking you or anything lol, he’s just curious and a little too nervous to speak to you himself

He’s the type to be the last one to know when he has a crush on someone, I don’t think he’s that in tune with his own feelings tbh

So it’s when he hears Yakus voice again, this time right next to him,that he begins to realize his feelings

“Are you looking for y/n again?”

He probably hadn’t even realized how much he came to this gym, subconsciously looking for you, so when Yaku asks him if he has feelings for you, everything begins to fall into place

After Yaku explains everything, that y/n is deaf, and couldn’t make it onto the girl’s volleyball team, so she practices alone in that gym every night, Lev is already gone

He needs to get home quick if he’s gonna learn some basic sign language phrases before he goes to bed

Ryu Tanaka

In their last practice match, Tanaka was feeling like he wasn’t doing as well as he usually did, his spikes were less precise, and he was being blocked a lot more often than usual, so he asked the other second years if they would come and get in some extra practice with him earlier in the morning

So they show up an hour earlier than usual to find that the gym is already unlocked, and they can hear the sounds of someone in there, practicing

They’re all none the wiser, as you organised your hour of practice with Daichi and Takeda, so the rest of the team ad no idea that you were using the gym in the morning

They all assume that it’s Hinata and Kageyama, and let’s be honest, they’ve probably been there all night

So Ennoshita’s captain instincts kick in, and he heads into the gym to tell them that they’re gonna overwork themselves and too much practice can end up having the opposite effect

So when he sees you practicing in the gym, he’s a little taken aback

You’re in class 4 as well as Narita and Ennoshita, so they recognize you pretty quick

Tanaka and Noya see you and they’re instantly hyped, because like, there’s another pretty girl in the gym

The three sane second years probably have to hold them back a little bit, so as to not overwhelm you

Narita and Ennoshita explain to the other three that you’re deaf, and that they learned some of the basic sign language phrases so that they could communicate with you in class

During this whole conversation, you’re just kinda standing there, confused because there’s five boys standing in front of you, and you’re pretty sure that they were not supposed to be here yet

So they head over to try and ask you what’s going on

It’s a bit of a mess, as the two only know the barest minimum of signing, so there’s a lot of lipreading and bad miming going on

During this conversation, you realize that the baldy from class 1 is kinda cute? And really funny as well

At some point you have the genius idea of getting your notebook out of your bag and using it to pass notes between the six of you, although it was quite entertaining to watch Tanaka and Nishinoya try their best to mime to you

You suddenly realize that they came here to practice, and, unlike you, they have games and practice matches to prepare for so you write that maybe you’ve overstayed your welcome, and you can leave now if they want to practice

Tanaka is NOT about to let you leave, especially thinking that they don’t want you around

So he asks if you wanna practice with them

He totally writes something like “Don’t you think it would be easier for you to practice with us as well rather than on your own” and then gives you the notebook while he's BLUSHING omg he makes me so 

He makes sure that it becomes a regular thing, you and him practicing together, co he just wants to be around you as much as he can

Kei Tsukishima

When the team arrive at the gym in the morning for their pre-school practice, you’re already in there with a friend, practicing your spikes

She fully knows sign language, but her setting skills aren’t quite as good, seen as you dragged her along here against her will

As soon as Tanaka and Noya see you two, they’re pretty excited

But Kiyoko protects you like the absolute goddess that she is

Daichi comes in with Takeda at this point, and they explain to the team that, on some days y/n and her friend will be practicing on the sidelines of the gym, as she didn’t make it onto the girl’s team, and we know that the girl’s team don’t practice very consistently either

So everyone introduces themselves to you two, and they start practice

This continues for a couple weeks, you and your friend practicing on the side of the boys, and over this time, you’ve become pretty good friends with Yachi and Yamaguchi, because they took the time to learn a bit of sign language to be able to communicate with you

Tsukki’s been learning with them, but he hasn’t made any effort to speak to you though, so you don’t know that he could

Until one time Yachi and Yams are over helping out with tidying things up after a practice

You can see Tsukki looking at you, and you swear you can see a bit of a blush on his cheeks, so you go to grab your notebook so that he can speak to you if he needs to

You notice your friend speaking to Akaashi, explaining that you two were told that there would be no practice here tonight, so you were free for the two of you to practice, and that you’re deaf and won’t be able to hear them if they try to speak to you, but she can interpret for them

They’re pretty quick to apologize, and say that they hadn’t been told that you were here to practice in the time that there would be no team

Till Bokuto suggests that you guys play together, I mean, it’s gotta be easier to play with four people rather than just two

Din checks his phone again, yet there are no new notifications. He guesses that’s probably a good thing, no news is good news, right? It’s his first time leaving his kid with a sitter and tonight is supposed to be a “guys night”, but he can’t help feeling like he abandoned his son.

“Djarin, quit looking at your phone,” Cara all but smacks his phone onto the bar. His best friend, his partner in crime, has insisted that they go out tonight and live it up, even though they are both well past their partying years.

“I can’t help it,” he mutters.

“Well help it. Tonight is a night of letting loose.” She shoves off the stool. “Speaking of letting loose, I’m gonna take a piss. Make sure no one spikes my drink,” she winks and saunters off. Din checks his phone again. Still no news. Would it kill Peli to give him just one update?

He sets it back down on the suspiciously sticky bar and raises his beer bottle back to his lips. He doesn’t plan on getting fucked up, but maybe a couple beers isn’t a terrible idea. After all, when was the last time he went out with Cara and had an actual good time? Most of the time he’s hauling her out of bars for nearly assaulting some guy who grabbed her ass or something. Tonight, however, she has promised just a good time, no bar fights.

A woman runs up to him and throws her arms around his neck, and yells, “Will, I’ve missed you so much!”

He nearly chokes on his beer. “What?” He sputters, trying not to drop the aforementioned beer.

“Just go with it, this guy is being really weird,” the woman hisses in her ear.

Maybe it’s because her voice is as smooth as a fine whisky, or it’s because she smells like lavender and vanilla, or maybe it’s because he’s just a good guy, but he wraps his arms around her. “Nice you could finally make it,” he says loud enough to be heard over the chaos of a mostly packed bar.

She pulls back and he nearly falls off the stool.

She’s beautiful.

Not like bombshell beautiful, but like genuinely beautiful. The ancient Greeks would have sculpted her as the most beautiful mortal woman. They would have worshiped her as a goddess.

On autopilot, he floats off his stool and offers Cara’s to her, pulling out for her and everything. Cara would have been so proud, if he hadn’t just offered her stool to this ethereal being, thus essentially ditching their “guys night”. With a gentle smile the woman sits down and brushes her long, black hair behind her ear. Suddenly, Din has the overwhelming urge to tuck the strand she missed back with the rest.

No, she’s escaping a creepy guy, not asking for another one.

“Are you alright?” he asks instead.

She nods, her full lips splitting apart to show an even fuller smile. “I am now, thanks for that. I… I don’t come out very often and I forgot how skeevy bars like this could be.”

He nods.

“I’m Omera by the way.”

“Din,” he nods again. “Can I get you a drink?” He motions to the bar.

“A vodka cranberry if you don’t mind. I’ll buy. What’re you having?” she asks.

He simply motions for her to not even consider it and gets the bar tender’s attention. “Another one of these,” he taps his bottle, “and a vodka cranberry.”

The guy nods and gets to work.

“So… come here often?” she laughs.

He forces down the butterflies stirring in his stomach and shakes his head. Is there anything not beautiful about this woman? Even her laugh is breathtaking. “No, tonight is my first night out in,” he whistles. “I guess about a year now.”

“Me too. I don’t get out. It’s pretty hard with kids and all.”

He perks up. “You have kids?” He asks, probably too eagerly.

She accepts her vodka cranberry from the bartender and nods. “I have a daughter.”

“I have a son.”

Now she looks eager and he is thanking the stars. There is nothing more he would want than to at least get her number, tonight. “How old is your son?” She asks, taking a sip.

“Two. I’m pretty sure I have pictures.” He picks up his phone knowing damn certain he has tons of pictures. Probably too many pictures. He’s a proud father, what can he say? He pulls up his favorite of his boy sitting in the swing at the park, giggling just as Din had pushed him.

“Aw wow, he’s precious! Wait I think I might have a picture of Winta,” she pulls up her purse and rummages for her phone. When she pulls out her phone, Din respectfully looks away so that she can enter her passcode and scroll through her gallery in private. “Here we go,” she smiles and shows him a picture of her and her daughter at the beach. It’s a selfie and both of them are grinning at the camera.

“She looks just like you,” he states.

“Thank you,” Omera smiles.

“Hey, is this guy bothering you?” The creepy guy comes up behind Omera and puts his hand on her shoulder.

“No, he’s my boyfriend,” Omera spits, shrugging his hand off her shoulder.

“Your boyfriend, huh?” The guy looks to Din, but he is already off the bar stool, putting himself between the guy and Omera.

“Yeah, back off,” Din threatens. He is not, by any means, a big guy. But Din knows several ways to kill people with his bare hands, a thing he’s pretty sure this guy doesn’t know.

And to think, Cara had promised no bar fights.

Speaking of Cara, how long does it take to pee? Did she fall in?

Focus, Djarin.

Din glares at the poor excuse for a man standing across from him and the guy swings. Din instantly blocks and counters with a blow to the stomach.

Oh, Cara is going to be so mad for missing out on the fun.

The guy stands back upright and now has several friends. They rush Din, and he falls back, pushing Omera off her bar stool. They crash to the ground in a heap and Din is snatched back up by his collar and punched in the temple.

Okay, so maybe he is a little rusty at the whole bar fight thing. He’s normally the one trying to prevent them, not actively participate.

Then he hears the hiss of mace leaving the can and the guy holding him roars in anger.

“Run!” Omera yelps, grabbing his hand and hauling him to the rear exit. He follows her out of the bar, and they stumble into the dark alley.

Hand in hand, they run out of the alley and down the street.

They run until their legs give out and their lungs ache, laughing the whole time. Din feels like a teenager. He’s holding a beautiful girl’s hand; the air is crisp with a summertime evening and he can feel the adrenaline rushing through his veins for more than one reason.

“Do you think we lost them?” Omera pants.

Din glances behind him. “Looks like it.”

“You’re going to have one hell of a black eye tomorrow,” she comments.

He simply shrugs, it was worth it. They stand on the edge of the sidewalk, catching their breath. Trying to figure out where exactly he is, Din looks up and peers directly into an ice cream parlor. “Do you like ice cream?” He asks.

She looks up at him incredulously and he motions to the parlor.

She grins. “I love ice cream.”

Straightening himself, he saunters over to the door and pulls it open for her. Beaming, she enters and he follows after her.

He definitely gets her number.

Last time, the story started in the middle of an inexplicable fight, Izuku gave Shoto his phone number and had multiple houses, and Katsuki told Izuku he doesn’t want Izuku to call anyone by their first name but him! Because being controlling is romantic, right?? (Sarcasm.)

In today’s chapter, Katsuki attempts to confess his “love,” Izuku is forced to dress as a girl, Shoto kidnaps Izuku, I rant about people uke-fying my favorite characters, and Kirishima offers some terrible advice!

I don't get it. Has Bakugou supposedly found Izuku's stare cute this whole time, or is this a recent thing? It's so outside the realm of possibility that it's not computing

That's the kind of thing you WRESTLE with, if you accidentally fall in love with the dude you've hated for like 11 of your 15 years of life!! I love how Izuku has no agency in this fic; he just goes with whoever and does whatever, helpless against the whims of those around him. And by love, I mean hate. I fucking hate that.

This is the second BakuDeku fic I've seen where Bakugou throws Izuku over his shoulder like a goddamn bag of potatoes and it's portrayed as Romantic. “Y/n!” Peter screamed at the top of his lungs “can you get the screws as well?” he asked his 9 month pregnant wife.

Peter was in the middle of setting a baby crib that he had ordered online when you were 3 months pregnant, but due to really bad shipping arrangements the crib had only come two days go. 

Which is why both you and your husband(mostly your husband, because he wasn't letting you do anything) were trying to build the crib as fast as you could because you never know when the baby would pop right out of you, since you were now very close to your due date.

“Coming, coming” you waddled your way to Peter. You gave him the desired object and held your very round belly. “Do you see that sweety, do you see what daddy is making for you? this is going to be your new bed!” you looked at Peter and newly made crib.

You had started to pick up the habit of talking to your baby in the middle of your pregnancy due to the fact that you were bored of staying home alone the entire day, you spoke to your baby, telling him stories about how you and Peter met and how excited is everyone to meet the little one.

Peter looked at you in awe as you rubbed your belly and smiled at your bump. He got on his knees and looked your big belly. He rubbed small circles and whispered soft things only for your infant to hear. Father-son bonding time as he liked to call. 

When ever Peter had time, whether it was after long hours of work at the bureau or going on business trips with Tony , your husband would always find a way to talk to your baby.  

Peter got up from his position to cup your face in his soft hands. “I love you” he said as he kissed your temple softly. 

“I love you, too”

You opened an eye looking at the glowing red light next to your bed, 3 am. You let out a small groan, angry, it was 3 am and you couldn’t sleep no matter how hard you tried because everytime your eyes closed you would see that beautiful chocolate cake you saw at the grocery store the day before when you went for a late night grocery run with Peter. 

“i knew i should've bought it” you thought resting your hand on your belly and felt kicks. “are you thinking about it too?” smiling you looked over to your sleeping husband. Mouth wide open,  a bit of drool threatening to fall on the baby blue pillowcase he was sleeping on. What a cutie. 

You leaned over to him and gave him a kiss on the forehead.

You slowly removed the covers of your body and tried get off the bed without making any sounds to make up the sleeping beauty next to you. 

“ouch, that hurt!” You whined softly, as you rubbed the area you got kicked “whats wrong?” you pouted.

“Food?” you questioned in a amused tone, and got a kick as a response. With that you walked out of your shared bedroom and made your way to the kitchen. 

“What should we eat?” You bent down a little to look at the items inside your refrigerator.

“Broccoli? Nah who we kidding we ain’t healthy, pasta? Hmm maybe in the morning,” both hungry and  frustrated from no sleep you shut the fridge a bit to hard. You winced at the noise of magnets falling on the floor and prayed that Peter hadn’t woken up. 

“We literally don’t have anything to eat!” you kicked the magnets out of the kitchen making a mental note to tell him in the morning to pick it up. You let a annoyed sigh, when you remembered Peter buying some snacks.

“Ah ha!” You exclaimed looking at the pack of chocolate chips in your pantry. “ I knew I had this somewhere” you grined.

You looked at your belly which was covered in one of Peter’s extra large graphics t-shirts, and said “ let’s get baking kiddo.”

“Ahh smells so good!!!” You exclaimed as you mixed the dough with the chocolate chips “if only I can taste it” you said with a slight pout, as you brought the spoon next to your mouth.

“Don’t you even think about it” said Peter making you jump in fright.

“OMG BABE! WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO? SCARE THE BABY OUT OF ME?” You screamed as you placed your hand on your rapidly beating heart.

Peter, no longer leaning on the doorway of your kitchen made his way to you. His arms holding you in a soft embrace, as he muttered soft words to calm your poor heart. He kissed your forehead and apologized profusely.

“Y/n what are you even doing here? At this time? It’s almost 3:30?”

“I... well you see Junior over here got hungry and decided that it would be fun playing soccer in my tummy till he gets my attention which he did. So I came into the kitchen to see what is there to eat, but didn’t find anything that I wanted then I remembered that we have chocolate chips left so”

“So you wanted to bake cookies” said Peter with a beautiful grin.

“Oh you know me so well, Mr. Husband” you cooed as you pecked his lips.

He smiled at the gesture and shook his head at your cute antics.

“Well then, since you’re going to be baking cookies I might as well help you. Now go on sit down, and let me do the rest.”

With that he sent you out of the kitchen and put the cookies in the oven and cleaned the kitchen as you eagerly waited for them to be done.

You walked back into the kitchen to see if your treats were ready to eat instead you were faced with your husbands back who was in the process of cleaning the dishes.

“wait what are you doing here” you poked Peter’s arm. “i woke up when you kissed me” he shrug as he continued to do the dishes. “you know babe i really thought i was gonna get something more than just a kiss on the forehead since....well you know.... you were up during fuckboy hours but i guess not” he pouted and then winked “and since we are up now” he sang wiggling his eyebrows, you hit his arms laughing.

“Peter” you gasp “how can you say that and in front of your son ” you faked a shocked expression as Peter jokingly started to strip out of his pjs. 

‘wow a dinner and a show im so lucky’ you thought as you took a bite of a cookie.

“ OMG BABE!!!!” Peter’s screams rang through the house.

“What what is? What happened? Who died” you came in as fast as you could while you held onto your belly.

“Honey walk slowly you might get hurt” Peter extended his arm for you to take and gently put you down on you shared bed.

“Nothing like that happened but I just realized that you due date is in a week!!!” He exclaimed. “ IN A WEEK!”

“Can you imagine it? A mini me will be waking around this very spot in a week, Y/n can you imagine!!!” He spoke, his eyes shining with each word.

You smiled “ well he won’t be walking yet but YES IM SO EXCITED! Oh that reminds me, I kind of bought some more baby clothes the other day with Nat. Only because they were so cute!” You gushed. “You should’ve been there Peter that store is magical” he laughed at your child like behavior and went to get the bag of clothes from the closet.

“Did you find it?” You asked, getting ready to get them yourself.

“I got it. I got it” he said as he brought a baby blue bag along with a big brown book.

“also look at what I found” he waved your photo album in the air and sat next to you.

“Awe look it’s little Peter with his little willy,” You pointed at your husband’s baby picture.

 Peter’s faced became red, he cleared his throat and turned the page to avoid any more of your comments,  “well its not so small now is it” he let out of a soft ouch and rubbed his arm because you hit his arm for saying such things near his soon-to-be-born baby

As you looked through the album of memories, you started to feel intense pain in your lower abdomen. 

Little driblets of sweat started to from on your forehead and you breathing started to be come more heavy. 

Peter noticed the change in your behavior and placed a hand on the small of back to calm you down. You smiled at him weakly, and grabbed his thigh when the pain became unbearable. 

“P-peter” you quietly let out, “I-I think it’s time” you said looking in between your legs and saw the small water soaking your pants. 

Your water broke.

Peter’s calm expression morphed into a panicked one as he hurriedly took the hospital bag and walked you to the car.

The dull colors of the Hospital was making Peter feel more nervous than he actually felt. The thought of something happening to you or the baby in the process of the delivery kept running circles in his mind due to the stress and anxiety he was feeling at that moment. He knew he should not be worrying both you and the baby were in perfect condition, but he was not able to get those nasty thoughts out of his mind. 

Peter felt someone’s hand be placed on his shoulder he quickly looked up and saw Tony’s warm brown eyes. Tony gave him a reassuring smile and open his arms to initiate a hug. Peter overwhelmed with emotion cried in Tony’s affectionate embrace. 

“I’m going to be father” he sobs “I’m going to be Father”. Tony pulled away and looked at Peter in the eye. He cupped his face and whipped the tears away. 

“I know you are. You’re going to be a great one at that.” Tony smiled at the boy whom he saw grow into the fine young man he is today. 

“IM GOING TO BE A UNCLE YALL!!!!” a loud voice rang through the hall. Peter laughed at the familiar voice. He saw his friend Wade wave at him dressed up as a baby sitting in a baby stroller, he waved at the two men while being pushed by Sam and Bucky. 

“He’s so gonna get killed by them by the end of the day” whispered Tony. 

“definitely” Peter said laughing.  

Peter left his father figure when the nurse came to tell him that the contraction has begun.

You were sitting on the bed with your baby in your embrace, Peter walked up to you and kissed your chapped lips. He leaned forwards and whispered to you how well you did during this hard process. 

“I should go call them,” he kissed the baby and went out.

Peter walked out of the delivery room with a huge smile that light the entire room “you can come see him now” he said and walked back inside to sit beside you on the bed. 

Everyone made their way to the room, walking slowly trying not to wake your newborn. 

“he is so precious,” cooed Natasha as she softly grazed his skin with her finger. “Can I hold him?” she asked. You nodded and let your best friend hold your baby boy. 

“what’s his name” asked Tony as he walked up to the red headed who was caressing the infant. 

“Harry Benjamin Parker” Peter said smiling, “Y/n chose it, but next time i will be the one choosing the name for our child” Peter said and you nodded. 

 “ Next time?” Thor said laughing. “You already planed on the next time Peter?” Thor teased Peter after seeing his face go red. 

“Hey, Hey blondie, stop teasing my son, and auntie Nat can I please hold my grandchild?” Tony said showing his pearly whites in order to get Harry. 

“Why should you get to hold Harry next!” said Steve. “I am the oldest!” 

“No, I should hold harry next,” quipped Thor “It’s always an honor to be held by a god,” 

“A god? oh please, let me hold My God Son harry, since I am his god father! I am his Sirius Black,” said Wade. 

“Wade we never made you the god father,” Peter quietly let out as he took Harry back from Natasha’s hand in fear that something might happen while everyone is fighting to hold his son. 

One of the nurses walked in to your room worried because of the arguing she heard from outside. She would've never thought that one day  she would see the worlds mightiest heroes fighting to hold a baby, but here she was.

Furious because this is most certainly not how one acts in a hospital she kicked them out of the room, and lectured them about how to behave in a hospital.

His thighsburned thanks to his current position, cramping up as he tried to shiftslightly to get out from behind his cover.

But it was to no avail.

“Havoc!” he yelled, calling out to his comrade across fromhim on the other side of the alley.

“I don’t know, boss,” he cried a hint of desperation in histone. He looked helplessly back at his commanding officer, fear in his eyesthat the worst had happened to the two of them.

“The Lieutenant has been dealt with,” a smooth voice repliedas the gunfire stopped. Roy’s skin prickled, fear burning into every fibre ofhis being.

Lust.

No, Hawkeye wouldn’t have let that happen. She was a capablesoldier, the best out of their unit. All themen on his team were the best of the best, but Riza Hawkeye was in a leagueabove everyone.

She would come around that corner behind them, he was sureof it.

Something else glanced off the wall he was behind, veryloudly gouging out the stone on top. Roy’s head snapped up, seeing Lust’sfingers stretch over him. Glancing to his left, Roy watched as Havoc’s facepaled.

Then the gunfire began again, and the homunculus was gone.

Roy waited, popping off shots from his own weapon when hecould. The purposefully planted gunpowder by the homunculi limited what hecould do with his flame alchemy. Roy’s aim was pinpoint and expertly honed overtime, however he had no idea where it was located, if there was any loose onthe ground, or if there were any particles in the air.

A bullet bit into hisbicep, just grazing the skin enough so it broke. He cursed, throwing himselfback down into cover, his ass hitting the ground painfully as he landed,finally feeling the struggle of their fight begin to overwhelm them.

Hawkeye should have been providing covering fire at thispoint from behind them, along with Fuery, but they were nowhere to be seen.

They never arrived.

Roy grit his teeth in agitation, a growl escaping betweenhis lips.

Lust couldn’t be right. That bitch couldn’t have taken Riza out. Roy wouldn’t allow it.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t how the world worked.

Get up.

The command in her head was barked. Riza stirred with agrown, the rough concrete pressing into her cheek painfully.

Get up.

A hand found its way onto the ground painfully slowly,causing agony to shoot into her right side. Riza hissed in pain, the handfaltering as it tried to hold her weight. She crashed back down, elicitinganother groan.

Her second attempt was more successful. Wincing, she managedto pull herself into a half sitting position. An eye cracked open and the worldtipped. Riza felt her stomach lurch.

“F… Fue…” Squeezing her eyes closed against the pain in herside and her head, Riza tried to utter the name of her fallen comrade. Shejudged he was still breathing, his chest rising and falling faintly.

“Fuery,” she croaked. No response.

Riza shuffled over to the youngest member of their team. Herheart tore in her chest. No, no, no.He couldn’t die. Riza wouldn’t allow it. Not Fuery, anyone but Fuery. He wastoo good, the best out of all of them.

Get. Up.

Her body scraped roughly along the ground as she fought tothe boy’s side. He wasn’t a boy, but that was what it felt like to Riza. He wasso young… Too young to be fighting in this war of theirs.

Yet he did. They all did. For the future.

The dark patch of blood in his left side dripped onto theground, creating a pool. Riza shoved her hand atop of it, stemming the flow asbest she could.

They had been side by side when Lust arrived, skewering themboth with the same hand. Riza should have seen it coming, but when a homunculuswith speed like hers crept up on them, they hadn’t stood a chance.

Riza was alive, for now. So, she would do her best to tryand save her comrade.

Her friend.

“Hang in there Fuery,” Riza whispered, wincing again at thepain in her side. Her other hand was pressed against her own wound, but theblood trickled between her fingers with no end.

Whimpering against the pain, Riza bowed her head and prayedfor the first time in her life. Not for herself, but for Fuery.

“Boss! Through here!”

Roy rolled across the open area, coming to a stop besideHavoc. Breda was earnestly beckoning him as Havoc provided covering fire aroundthe corner.

Breda guided him to the alleyway where Fuery and Hawkeye hadbeen located at the start of the shootout. When Roy saw what awaited them inthat godforsaken alleyway, he stopped dead.

He now realised why there was blood on Breda’s uniform.

He hadn’t been hurt.

But they had.

Fuery was unconscious – dead? – on the ground, blood pouringfrom his left side. Hawkeye lay on her side next to him, a hand desperatelytrying to press against his wound. Her own wound – a matching one on her rightside – poured freely as well, creating a pool on the ground below.

No…

Roy lunged for them both, taking Riza’s wrist gently in his.He removed it from Fuery’s side, moving to grip her blood-soaked hand tightly.He weaved his fingers through hers, willing her to meet his gaze.

“It’s okay, we’ve got you,” he told her. He placed his freehand against Fuery’s side, barking at Breda to get back up here now. Riza gripped his hand tightly andRoy sighed in relief, glad to feel the strength behind her grip.

“Back up is on the way. I’ll go help Havoc with the suppressivefire, sir,” Breda announced, leaving before Roy could argue otherwise. Not thathe would have anyway. Havoc had been backed into the alleyway, firing back atthe men who had initiated the gun fight, thanks to a prompt from Lust. Roy knew he had heard her voice somewherebefore.

Goddamnit, he growledto himself.

“Lieutenant keep as much pressure on your wound as possible,”Roy ordered, his throat tightening. They shouldn’t be in the situation. How hadthis even happened?

“How… is Fuery?” she rasped. Roy’s head snapped towards her.Even though her grip was strong on his hand, her voice wasn’t. He readjustedthe grip on her hand, brushing his fingers over the pulse point on her wrist.It was difficult to feel, but he found it eventually. It was thready.

“He’s going to be okay. So are you, I just need you to holdon a little longer,” he begged. Hunched over both their bleeding forms, Roy hadnever felt so useless before. What good was he as a commanding officer if he couldn’tprotect his own?

“Lieutenant?” he asked, real fear creeping into his tone. “Lieutenant!”Her eyes fluttered closed, hand going limp in his.

Riza heard voices talking as she moved.

But that couldn’t be right. She was lying on her back, butthe ground beneath her was moving. Quickly. How was that possible? Cracking aneye open she saw bright, fluorescent lights.

“… stabbed. So was Sergeant Fuery.”

Roy…

She felt better knowing that he was here, that she wasn’t alone.

How was Fuery? Was he okay? Did he…?

“Sergeant Fuery is in surgery at the moment,” someone fromRiza’s left stated. “He’s lost a lost of blood. So has Lieutenant Hawkeye. Weare…”

Riza drifted off once more, unable to focus on anything.However, there was a sudden pressure on her hand, giving her fingers a quicksqueeze. She returned the gesture as best she could.

“I’m here,” Roy told her, his voice distant as the darknesscrept in again. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Riza lost a lot of blood.

Lust had almost nicked her lungs, but her freakish bladeshad narrowly avoided the one on the right. The doctor told the rest of the teamthe distance between the stab wound and Riza and Fuery’s lungs and it almostmade Roy vomit on the spot.

His poor subordinates.

They didn’t deserve this.

There was more medical jargon that Roy was just too tiredand too worried out of his mind to comprehend. All Roy could understand thoughwas that she hadn’t woken up yet and the constant beeping to his right from theheart monitor was now attuned to his very being. He had been in this room, byher side, for so long that he could detect any minor change in her heartbeat.He had learned the hard way to read it after she flatlined shortly after beingmoved here.

That had been the scariest moment of Roy’s life.

The reality of living life without Riza Hawkeye was rudely shovedin his face and he had been unprepared. The panic and grief overwhelmed him somuch, he cried silently when he returned to her bedside an hour afterwards, themachine beeping steadily once again.

So yes, he had memorised that rhythm as if his life dependedon it.

Head in his hands, he counted the beeps as his elbows restedon Riza’s bedside. Fuery was on the next bed over, by the window. He remainedvigilant over them both, the silent protector, until the rest of the team arrivedin an hour or so.

“Roy?” Riza croaked quietly.

His head snapped up, breathing halted as he dared to believethis was finally happening.

Two whole days he had been waiting for this moment.

Snapping one of her hands up, clasping both his hands aroundhers tightly, Roy kissed the tips of her cool fingers.

“You’re awake,” he replied in relief.

“What… What happened?”

“Lust stabbed you, do you remember that?”

Riza nodded, wincing as that movement aggravated something andcaused her pain. Her eyes widened momentarily.

“Where is Fuery? Is he okay?” Her voice broke in her hasteand worry.

Roy gave her hand a squeeze. “He’s okay. He’s in the bedright next to you. Fuery lost more blood than you did, apparently, so it may belonger until he wakes.”

“What happened with Lust –?”

“Let’s talk about this later, Riza.” Roy noted how hereyebrow arched at the use of her first name, but Roy didn’t care. “Please? Ijust got you back and the last thing I want to do is talk about work.”

“Okay,” she agreed with a quiet sigh.

“Thank you,” he breathed, bringing her fingers to his lipsonce more to kiss them. “How are you feeling?”

“Sore.”

“I thought… I thought you were gone when I rounded thatcorner,” Roy admitted, finally able to face the worry and anxiety that had madeits home in his chest for the past two days. Now that Riza was awake andtalking, he felt he could finally face it without breaking down. “But youfought it, to save Fuery.”

Riza nodded. “I couldn’t let him go out like that,” shewhispered, eyes finding his, willing him to understand. “He doesn’t deservethat.”

“No, he doesn’t. Thanks to you, he won’t.”

Riza smiled, closing her eyes as they drooped.

“And neither do you,” Roy added, quieter. He smirked when thateyebrow arched again. “Rest, Riza. We can talk more later.” He lifted a hand toher head, brushing her fringe from her face, his fingers ghosting over hercheek as they moved back to her hand. Riza made a soft sound as Roy touched her,and he wasn’t too proud to admit he enjoyed hearing it.

He just wished it hadn’t been when she was in a hospital bedafter fighting for her life.

“Will you stay?” she asked, eyes still closed.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he vowed, unable to resistpressing his lips to her forehead. “I promise. Get some rest.”

Being in his POV before meant he never had the opportunity to really use leading questions like this, which really lends him an unexpected air of authority. Unexpected but earned, mind you...

Also Maki as the Ultimate Survivor would absolutely tear things up. They’d have to pull another stunt like they did with Rantaro if they wanted her out of the game. She definitely has the fitness and demeanour to survive, unless she snaps on someone like she did on Kokichi in Chapter 5.

Just like Kokichi did, Shuichi is going to try and attack the game itself. His name really hasn’t come up since the motive video reveal, but I’d like to think that this strategy was inspired by his Chapter 5 plan.

What an interesting set of characters to represent despair winning. First we have Izuru, being all disdainful of their choice and mocking him with the word ‘boring’ - very much his thing, but also reminiscent of Kokichi. In fact, I suppose the despair option is very similar to the stalemate situation Kokichi installed when he was pretending to be the mastermind!

Then Celestia. She’s not a people-pleasing person. So why her? Thinking back, she was one of the most desperate to escape, despite hiding it... so maybe this is Tsumugi ‘showing’, not telling, that she isn’t happy with them choosing the despair option?

And then the hope fanboy... basically telling them that despair is the inferior option, but couching it in positive language. Passive-aggressively pushing them towards the actual answer (s)he wants - very on point for him.

Is it really okay to pass the buck like that?

It does... sort of suck that he’s singling out those two in his speech, because it can feel like he’s being dismissive of everyone else - but I don’t think that’s true. He definitely appreciates the losses of everyone else, but those two were the ones that hit him hardest.

Actually though, how depressing. So many times we’ve talked about ‘reasons to live’, and later on, reasons to die, and lo and behold here we are, at the end of everything...

Shuichi’s learned from the best, Kokichi Ouma - sometimes, death is just a means to an end, and that end is usually flipping someone off.

Random thought - isn’t it interesting that Shuichi is the ‘lone man against everyone’ while Tsumugi, the final boss, is the one ‘acting on behalf of everyone’? When Naegi was trying to rally everyone on his side, they had known at that point that people had been fighting and dying to rescue them. For Hajime and the others, they had the defected Future Foundation members who had risked their own safety to come in and rescue them, and even had Nanami reach out to him. Shuichi, though... Shuichi came to this conclusion on his own, with everyone either against him or swept up in the narrative.

He told Kokichi at the end of Chapter 4 that ‘he was alone, and always would be’. But maybe... that’s not such a bad thing. Maybe Shuichi needed to be alone to have that clarity of thought, and to come up with a way to ‘end everything’. Anyway, it’s just an unexpected parallel I thought of - m-maybe I’m just inserting endgame Kokichi and Kaito thoughts here because the game didn’t. Whoops

How is it that after all of this, Shuichi is still unable to fight for himself? Maybe I should amend what I said before - he is fighting for other people. They just... well, they don’t know it yet. He’s fighting to prevent future victims, and he’s trading his own life to protect them. I guess in a sense he is fighting something ‘greater than himself’ like Naegi did, but even he had ‘hope that he and his friends would survive with a happy ending’. This is... completely the opposite of that.

This whole line of her entire self being at the whim of someone else’s writing seems to be targeted at her more-so than the others because she’s already struggled with the idea that she’s had no choices in her life, and that she’s always been a weapon to be used by others. Actually, that’s probably why this hits so hard - she thought she was developing feelings on her own and making a choice to fight to defend him, and the idea of even that being taken away from her...

okay okay so i’m gonna put this all under a cut for those who haven’t seen the movie and wish to remain spoiler free, and i’ll also put a couple images so that mobile users (who sometimes automatically see the post, apparently?) to warn them to scroll past!

SO FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO SAY that genuinely, this movie changed my life. I have never been as excited or happy about a movie as I was with this one, and can find few (if any) flaws with it. I would have to be hyper-nitpicky if I wanted to point out anything wrong with it, but overall, I gotta say, this movie inspired me, made me cry, made me laugh out loud, made me shake and jitter with excitement.

I should point out that, yes, the visuals can be kinda jarring, especially for sensitive people like me who react to flashing stimulus and abrupt movement very poorly, but I honestly LOVED the visual aspect of the film. The character design is incredible, the animation is so unique and stunning, and every single person has this wonderful individuality in the way they look and move that it just blows me away. This movie is already a frontrunner for an Oscar in the animation category, apparently, and it’s easy to see why.

The writing is also impeccable, with a quick pace and genuine humanity to it, and it feels so bright and alive! The way people talk is so full of character and personality, and Miles’ codeswitching is adorable and fun to listen to, and everyone has such a special and unique personality that comes through how they speak. The voice acting is INCREDIBLE and the array of the cast is SO awesome and I LOVE everyone who was in it!

I literally am so excited about everything that I’m having a hard time keeping this post linear and sensical, but I just! Love it so much!

Some people criticize the film by saying that it’s not really the “first black Spiderman movie” because Miles “shares the spotlight”, but, honestly? That didn’t come across to me at all. This movie felt entirely centered on Miles. Yes, Peter B. Parker played a big role, but, like, every movie has supporting characters and co-mains. I understand the frustration, but that’d kinda be like saying that Captain America: The First Avenger isn’t Steve’s story because Peggy gets screentime and so does Bucky. But I also do get where people are coming from and I find the frustration very valid.

But I LOVE all the spider-people, and they didn’t actually overwhelm the movie. Peni, SpiderNoir, and SpiderHam all took backseats. They were fun additions, but didn’t ever detract from the experience of this being Miles’ story. Even Gwen didn’t derail the film, or even Peter B.! They all stayed in their lanes and moved Miles’ story along, more like the wheels propelling him than roadblocks obfuscating his progression. 

I loved every one of the characters, and I got so attached to all of them; Miles’ family really stands out to me, because they are such strong and loving characters, and it is so, so sadly rare to see loving black families portrayed like this. Jefferson, Miles’ dad, is allowed to be flawed without ever crossing the line into “bad dad” territory. He’s allowed to be wrong but still love his son and be doing the absolute best for him. Even Miles’ “bad” uncle, Aaron, made me cry and love him. When Aaron died, I was horrified (mostly because, I mean, god, we really did not need to see another black man getting shot by a white guy...), but they also never demonized Aaron, or downplayed the tragedy of his loss. He was heroic, even in his mistakes, and I think that was really noble on the part of the storytellers. 

The movie just feels so lived in and loved and human, and you can tell that it’s just a work of art and love and passion. It’s a game-changer. I legitimately consider it the best Marvel movie ever made, on par with Black Panther in terms of artistic value and importance. It’s the fun of Thor: Ragnarok and the art and significance of Black Panther rolled into one, unique, amazing bundle that has forever set the bar for how I want movies, especially movies intended for families and children to be.

“Anyone can wear the mask” means something. It may sound like a cheesy cop-out, but it means that we don’t have to look up to Perfect Pillars Of White Heroism as our standards. It means black children from Brooklyn are heroes. Jewish people are heroes. Women are heroes. Asian people are heroes. Even Miles’ parents are heroes, and it shows the wide gamut of good people and what we owe to each other. While neither Rio nor Jefferson Morales-Davis are “superheroes”, they are legitimate heroes, doing their part to make the world a better place.

Anyway, moving on; the jokes in the movie are awesome, and my family has been throwing them back and forth ever since we saw the movie. SpiderHam’s t-pose ascension into the black hole and “keep this, it’ll fit in your pocket” had us in tears. SpiderNoir and the Rubik’s cube? Incredible. Peter B. crying in the shower? Artistry.

AND NOW FOR ME TO TALK ABOUT THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HOLDING IT IN FOR S O   L O N G

When I read that Oscar had a cameo in the movie, I needed to know. It was the only spoiler I allowed myself to know about, and when I heard he was going to be Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O’Hara, I flipped. I read nothing else about the scene, and wanted to go in blind, but I researched Miguel and, well, you know, I fell in love!

His scene was SO good and SO funny and I LOVE Miguel SO much, you have no idea. I am SO excited for him to be in the next movie (fingers crossed!) and can’t wait to see more of him. I do hope they give him more screen time, because he’s a great character, and because it’d be amazing to have a Latino Spider-Man AND a Afrolatino Spider-Man! And because, you know, more Oscar is always ideal.

I love, love, love Miguel, and Oscar was so funny (he has amazing comedic timing and such great range, omg), and I am desperate to see more of him. I haven’t stopped bombarding my poor friend Cydney with love and affection for Miggy in, like, two weeks. I’m sure she’s sick of it by now. Also, I kinda wanna write stuff about Miggy, lowkey, as self-indulgence, but for now I’ll just keep that foolishness to myself lol.

Anyway, the movie is chock-full of amazing things, both from an artistic/cultural standpoint and from a Marvel-fan standpoint: so many easter eggs and little surprises, so much amazing writing, so much amazing character design, just!! So! Good! Please go see it immediately, because I’m itching to see it again and don’t know how I can resist going in for a second watch.

Also, Peter B. Parker is Jewish and it’s canon and if you want to step up and fight me about it, feel free to, but I will kick your ass. I will. Know this. Jewish Spider-Man FOREVER, FOOLS. No one is allowed to thirst after him if they also ignore his being Jewish or disrespect it, so if you wanna love him, you gotta love his Judaism too, or I’ll fist-fight you behind the Denny’s at 3 am and knock you the hell out.
