Everyone thought you’d be claim by Ares (even though your dad was still very present and not a god) or at least by Athena. You were smart and a hell of a lot strong; both mentally and physically.

So it came to a surprise when Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, claimed you.

Though, Clarisse knew you were her daughter. You were every bit of passionate: about life, hobbies, interests, her. You paid attention to every little detail that flew out of her mouth (she noticed).

It didn’t help that you channeled your mother’s past title and abilities. After all, in Sparta, she was known as Aphrodite Aeria, “Aphrodite the Warlike”.

Clarisse was head over heels for you the minute she saw you fight (you even bested Luke, how was she not supposed to not fall in love with you?)

You and Clarisse started dating at the peak of the Summer Solstice and never looked back. No one knew Clarisse could be so…tolerating to someone outside of her cabin, especially to one of Aphrodite’s daughter.

Percy surely didn’t expect it either.

Clarisse was so callous and you were compassionate. He guessed that thing about opposites attract was true.

“Look, you want attention here, dummy?” Clarisse spoke condescendingly to the newest camper. She just couldn’t believe a scrawny kid took down the Minotaur. “You better be ready for it when it comes.”

Clarisse made Percy flinch and walked past Hermes’ kids. An amused smile plastered on her face. Luke shook his head as Ares’ kids passed which begged the question. “Why don’t they mess with you?” Percy asked.

“They know better.” Luke smirked.

“Luke’s the second strongest swordsman in camp.” Chris added with a proud grin.

“Who’s the first?”

“Y/N.”

Suddenly, you walked by in perfect timing. Percy’s eyes glued to you. You witnessed the whole situation and went to talk to your girlfriend. “Clarisse…” You muttered.

Percy watched Ares’ daughter soften at the mention of her name from your lips. Nothing in the facial expressions, it was all in the eyes.

“She doesn’t look menacing or intimidating—” Percy acknowledged.

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Luke reminded as he glanced back at you and Clarisse. “Got my ass handed to me when I sparred with her.”

Percy looked at Luke. “Really? Can I train with her?”

It wasn’t odd to find Clarisse in Aphrodite’s cabin; nor was it odd to find the two of you cuddling on your bunk. Sunlight beaming onto the two of you and the only sounds were the campers outside. All of your siblings when do go enjoy camp activities while you read to Clarisse.

Ancient Greek flows from your mouth like the water from River Styx. Clarisse had one arm haphazardly thrown across your abdomen. Her head perched on your shoulder.

Silently, she admired the way your lips moved. The way you were invested into the story. The way she can see all the tiny details on your gorgeous face from this position.

Clarisse found herself falling for you more and more with each second of the day. She was aggressive and intimidating. She was Ares’ favorite daughter after all, but she found herself becoming more softhearted to you.

“You’re my…everything.” Clarisse whispered fondly. It might’ve been a slip of the tongue, but it made you blush.

She never failed to make you blush. Your rosy cheeks complimented with a sheepish grin. “Clarisse…” You mumbled and put down the book.

“I mean it.” Clarisse stated firmly and sat up on her elbow. Her heart locket fell from her orange Camp t-shirt. It matched yours, except you had a sword charm. Clarisse insisted on giving it to you (after threatening Beckendorf once or twice) for your two month anniversary.

“I know.” You reassured and pecked her lips quickly. Clarisse smiled and dived back in to press her lips into yours

A giggle erupted from you. A rush of dopamine intoxicating your brain. It always felt like the first kiss with her. “I love you, I love you, I love you—” You repeated into her lips.

“I get it, lovergirl.” Clarisse chuckled as she pulled away. Her cheek tinged with pink. “I love you too.”

She continued. “Will you keep reading? You sound so beautiful when you read—”

“Clarisse!” You exclaimed. Your blush even more prominent.

“What? I can’t tell my girlfriend she has a voice from the sirens that could bring the Big Three to tears?”

“Clarisse…”

“Keep reading, lovergirl.”

“This is safe, right?” Percy asked Grover.

“Yeah! Perfectly safe.” Grover reassured with a smile.

Luke had recruited you to help train Percy (Clarisse just so happened to tag along). There were swords in all of your hands. You were going to fight Clarisse and Luke and Percy doubted you were that good.

It was all to help Percy learn more about fighting with the sword and a great way to show off. The forest clearing gave enough room to really show your talents in combat.

“Don’t go easy on me!” You yelled at Clarisse and Luke on the other side of the clearing. Percy and Grover were sitting on rather large rocks anticipating the battle.

You took a deep breath and your eyes hardened. It was like switched had been flipped within you. You shifted your foot, sliding it in the dirt. The air felt different. Tense, sharp, lung-crushing.

Clarisse and Luke tightened their grip on their swords and gave each other a confirming nod. Percy and Grover watched as the three older half-bloods charged one another.

With precision and quick-wit, you were able to keep Clarisse and Luke on their toes. Luke shifted his weight in his feet before charging you again. You clashed swords. Celestial Bronze against Celestial Bronze.

Your ears perked up on shoes slapping against the dirt. You ducked causing Clarisse to swing at Luke. There was no trace of a your warm sweet smile Percy saw, only your hardened gaze.

It was kind of scary to see Aphrodite’s daughter switch up so fast.

Clarisse cursed under her and swiped her sword as if flicking off imaginary blood. She met your gaze, her heart skipped a beat. She rushed you again and swiped your legs. You jumped back with the grace of a swan, but Clarisse parried her sword immediately after.

You riposted Clarisse when Luke cane out from behind Clarisse to continue an onslaught of attacks. You scoffed quietly, but you could never complain. It was a good workout.

Yet, a particularly heavy swing from you knocked Luke’s sword from out of his hand. His sword flinging at Percy’s head. Percy shouted and ducked.

“Oh my gods!” You exclaimed and slapped your heads over your mouth in surprise.

Clarisse and Luke stopped their attacks and looked back at Percy and Grover. Luke’s celestial bronze sword was sticking out of a tree. Percy centimeters away from the blade.

You apologized for your reckless behavior. Percy was more scared of how fast you switched from your focused nature to a worried attitude.

“It’s okay…” Percy laughed nervously.

“He said he was fine!” Clarisse called out and walked towards you, pressing a small kiss to your cheek.

“Sorry, Percy.” Luke apologized.

“A lover and a fighter. Got it.” Percy noted in his mind as you complained to Clarisse about feeling bad about impaling Percy.

Sand pits-Walker!Percy Jackson x f!reader

Warnings/Notes: Slight mention of trama for a few seconds, Spoilers for Mark of Athena, established relationship, tripping into holes(if that bothers you steer clear), flufffff(fr tho), Stoll brother pranks🥺

Summary: Percy takes reader for a walk on the beach at camp on their 2 year anniversary. Takes place way after HOO. Percy and reader are 19 and 20.

A/N: bare with me where, I don't write to often, hence the current lack of skill some of ya'll have😔. I was also writing this as well as writing a D&D campaign so you could only guess how absolutely scattered my brain is. Not proof read

Sunny. Just how it was the day Percy asked you to be his girlfriend. Officially, that is, because before you two got together, you guys had spent lots of time together, held hands, and exchanged "friendly" kisses on the cheek and lips. Maybe it was denial? Or perhaps just obliviousness? You weren't sure, but more than two years later, it was all worth it.

"Beautiful day today.." You say with a warm smile as you hold Percy's hand, walking along the sandy shore of the cold lake.

"Just like the one when I asked you to be my girlfriend," Percy responds with a smile. He looked so happy, walking with you along the shore, blonde hair blowing in the soft breeze. Despite his happy smile and bright face, his body looked tense. Most of the time, You'd overlook it as him being sore from training or sleeping funny, but this wasn't either.

"Percy, are you alrig-" Your sentence gets cut off when you suddenly fall into what seemed to be a hole. You let out a quiet yelp as you fell into the hole quite far down. Your hand slips from Percy's as you fall to the bottom.

Suddenly, a flash of a few years ago floods your brain. When you fell into Tartarus. But you had Percy then now you were just fallin-

Your body hits the bottom of the hole with a thud. You look up and see Percy's slightly worried but amused face as he sees you in the hole. The hole wasn't deep. Maybe three or four feet. But when you fell in, it felt like time froze, leaving you back in Tartarus again.

You breathe heavily, panting since you hit the bottom so hard the wind got knocked out of you.

"Y/N! Are you okay!" Percy calls out as he falls to his knees, reaching into the hole to grab your hand and help you stand.

"Yeah... I'm alright..." You say as Percy pulls you out and pulls you into his arms.

"Good... You had me worried there... Your eyes... Your eyes had the same look from when we fell into Tartarus..." Percy says as he holds you tightly against him and kisses your hair softly. "Either way, I got you now...." Percy says as he pulls you away from the hole.

When Percy pulled you into his arms, you felt safe immediately. No matter where you were, Percy was always your safe space, especially in Tartarus.

"Thank you, Percy," You say as you pull away and smile at him. He gladly smiles and pecks your lips softly before intertwining his fingers with yours before walking again. "I also think that was Travis and Connor's doing." You say with a soft chuckle. Percy nods, smiling, putting his other hand in the pant's pocket.

The two of you kept walking down the beach, completely forgetting what had just happened and enjoying the time you were spending together. As you reach the further part of the beach, Percy clears his throat.

"So, um, Y/N?" He says as he stops walking and faces you.

"Yes, Percy?" You respond and look up at him, smiling.

"I need to ask you something important.." He says nervously, his hand still in his pocket.

"Yes..?" You respond, slightly worried.

He pulls something out of his pocket and goes on one knee. "Y/N, I've loved you since I laid my eyes on you. Whether I realized it at the moment or not, I knew you were the one I'd always love unconditionally. As we've grown closer together, I've really realized that I want to spend every moment of my dying breath with you. Y/N M/N L/N, will you marry me?"

crying right now uncontrollably. listening to "everything has changed" by taylor, thinking about percy and how much he's been though and the way he's just so gorgeous and devoted and thinking about every moment since i was in 4th grade/ middle school and all the times i was going to give up on life... every hard, hellish moment... when my mom would take my books and throw them into garbage bags and take them away from me when i was 11... and i wasnt alloweed to read anything i wanted to cuz they wanted me to "focus on my studies more" yes my parents are toxic... and i had nobody in the entire world there for me... but i would look up at my wall and i would look at that little picture of percy, percy who fell through tartarus for the only girl he loved more than anything on the planet, percy who laughs like there's no where else he'd rather be when he's home with his mom and the little things he does like love blue waffles and the way he holds annabeth like she is his lifeline because she is. the way percy would sacrifice the whole wide world for people he loves. the way he's happy with a small little life in a small apartment with his mom, estelle, and paul. the way his love and the people he holds close to him are more valuable to him than anything else in the world. im turning 18 now. and people think its so immature and boring for me to still feel so intensely for percy but honestly they will never see through the mist, they will never see the way percy just kept me alive all these years, these years when i had no body else, when i had no parents that really ever loved me or cared if i ever died....there he was. there percy was smiling in my mind, and i remember that there are truly people to live for, that its worth it, because percy exists and for someone so beautiful to exist, for someone so vibrant and someone i feel so intensely for exists in this day and age. the way percy is truly real and somewhere out there finally happy with annabeth and he got out of all the hell he always had to endure all those years.... never having anyone. my heart aches so terribly for him and i love him so dearly and so intensely because he has a true heart of gold and radiance and fallin in love with someone through books... through words... being so, so, so sure that he's real... seeing him in my life since i was just a nine year old girl... theres nothing in the world that can make me feel the same way. ever. percy, i love you. my eyes are bloodshot and soo wet but idk i think theyre happy tears... happy that i lived. lived and got through it because of my seaweed brain !! the way seaweed brain is just that constant in annabeth's life... her running away at such a young age... him being her whole world. something i can understand just too well T-T. if i was gonna thank anyone at my graduation, it would be percy. ill love you forever.

The Complete Scepter Singles (1962-1973) Dionne Warwick (Rhino/ Real Gone) (released in April 2023, originally released in 2018 as a PBS only item)

One of the things growing up in the early to late 1960s in the Midwest was that the radio was ubiquitous and they all seemingly were turned to WLS 89.9 Chicago.  If a place sold records, then you were always able to pick up a list of the Top 40 records most played on WLS that particular week.  And the one thing about the radio then, that seems so peculiar to people today is that everything was played on the same station.  Country, rock, soul, instrumentals, didn’t matter what the genre was, didn’t matter what color the artist was, there was always space for everyone.  Everyone knows this but some who never experienced it cannot begin to understand just how refreshing this was in hindsight.  At the time I thought nothing of hearing Bob Dylan, The Temptations, Percy Faith, Jeannie C Riley or Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles all within the space of 40 minutes.  If there was any dominant sound on the radio it was Motown.  But, running a close second to Motown, in my mind at least, was Dionne Warwick.  And boy, did I enjoy her voice although I might have been loathe to admit such a thing back then.

Some of this I can trace directly to one source: my mother.  My mother was crazy for Burt Bacharach.  I had no idea that a married person could have a crush on someone who wasn’t that person’s spouse until my mother developed a severe fondness for Bacharach.  Back then the people who were on the radio as singers, band members, songwriters, producers and arrangers were always on television and if the radio wasn’t going then the TV was and I seem to remember Bacharach was always on some variety show.  If you loved Bacharach then you had no choice but to love Dionne Warwick.  Virtually everything she recorded at one point in time seemed to be penned by Burt Bachrach and his songwriting partner Hal David and I’m certain everything she did was produced by them.  As a boy who loved 45s, you learned this quickly when you scanned the credits of Warwick’s Scepter singles. 

Quite frankly, I haven’t given Ms Warwick much thought these days.  Times change, people are forgotten or minimalized, but when I got the newsletter from Real Gone Records and saw this triple CD set being offered up I couldn’t resist.  Whether it was Bacharach’s recent death (8 February 2023), my love for complete singles compilations or just the nostalgia I felt when looking at this mammoth track list I honestly cannot say but something made me buy this (I suppose greed figures in there too).  Nevermind that this item originally came out in 2018 as one of those items you can only buy through a PBS fundraiser.  Nevermind that if I ran across this in a store I’d look at it fondly as I scanned the tracklist and wished I still had my copies of I Say A Little Prayer For You b/w Theme From Valley of The Dolls (a crazy huge hit back in the day that I am still crazy for) and Do You Know The Way To San Jose b/w Let Me Be Lonely.

Perhaps I am romanticizing all of this, perhaps I bought in haste, perhaps I’ll hear one disc and wonder, what was I thinking (which I will think every time I have to sit through Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head), but I also know I’m bound to hear some tracks I’ve not heard in fifty years. 

Above you see the front of the disc (and it looks similar to the original PBS/ Rhino release of 2018), the spine (I was quite pleased to see this show up in a fatty jewel case with double spine) and then the back.  Here is a close up of the hype sticker on the front.  While not all the songs are penned by Bacharach and David (11 are penned by other writers) they did produce all the tracks.

Well, this comp from the mid-80s that gathered both big and small hits from the 50s through 70s was a bit of a mixed bag. Frankly, I think it was a really bold choice to lead off with the shittiest and most embarrassing re-recording of Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman" imaginable, but the album definitely got better from there, with original versions of Gladys Knight & The Pips' "Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," The Lovin' Spoonful's "Daydream," and B.J. Thomas' "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" coming to save the day 😅.

Now, despite this release having the title of Sixteen Solid Gold Hits, a substantial chunk of these songs actually seem to have fallen into relative obscurity. And that's something that definitely piqued my interest going into this listening sesh, but unfortunately, none of these less remembered tunes seem to be worth highlighting here 😔.

And although there doesn't seem to be much of a theme to this album, besides gathering some songs that made it onto the Billboard charts over a three-decade span, there is definitely an unexpected current of country-pop songs on here. And that's a huge personal blind spot of mine that I'm hoping to change at some point, but these offerings here just sound like disposable, string-infused, commercial Nashville schlock ☹. Oh well.

Still a decent listen. Would be substantially better without some of these re-recordings, though. Never understood the purpose of those when 99% of the time they're inferior to the original versions. Sure, they're probably cheaper to license, but your listener's gonna feel hoodwinked when they actually go to listen to your album and find cheap imitations on there instead of the original Billboard hits that they were expecting; especially when you neglect to mention it on your packaging, like this one does. Tipper Gore should've made that her music crusade instead of complaining about things like Twisted Sister lyrics. I think we'd all have been better off for it.

Sleep Deprived —(Poly!Lercy xGN!reader)

“I’m so tired I just want to fall flat on the bed and sleep for the next week,” Percy grumbles beside you.

It was the end of the semester of your first year in college, both of you were basically dead inside with the amount of nights spent finishing assignments and studying for tests. 

You’re focused on finishing your bowl of cereal while Percy opens a box of something, you weren’t paying enough attention to see what he was about to put in the microwave.

“I can’t remember the last time I actually felt well rested,” You mumble. 

“Makes you wonder how Leo can keep up with his schedule without fallin apart, huh?” The soft sound of the microwaves’ buttons accompany his comment.

“Probably his ADHD, I don’t understand why you’re falling apart though,” You raise a brow.

“Well, I’m not a son of Hephaestus—”

“Which is great, otherwise you and Leo dating would be gross as fuck—”

“So probably my brain function on a different level than Leo’s...”

“Everyone’s brain works on a different level than Leo’s,” You yawn. “He’s so freaking smart—that bastard.”

Percy presses the start button, almost immediately something starts hissing inside the machine and a loud bang sends you out of your chair. When you stand up the microwave is in flames and Percy has a very ugly burn on his arm.

“What the fuck—!”

You circle the counter and look around for the fire extinguiser, once you find it you push Percy out of the way and unlock the tool, showering the machine with its white substance.

“What the hell did you put in there, Percy?” You ask in shock.

“I-It was a burrito! You know, from the ones Leo bought yesterday?”

“Did you make sure to take off the foil before putting it in there?”

Percy blinks, he lowers his gaze to the messed up microwave and a grimace quickly forms on his features. 

“I’m sorry, Y/N, I wasn’t paying attention...”

“Don’t apologize, you’re the one who got hurt!” You shake your head. “Where’s the ointment?”

“Gotta be under the sink,” Percy hisses when trying to touch his burned arm. “You know, it’s sort of insulting, as the son of Poseidon, to get burned by an inanimated object that I own.”

The front door swungs open to reveal one happy Leo Valdez, he’s humming whatever song he’s listening through his earphones, he hasn’t noticed the mess in the kitchen since his back is turned to his boyfriend but the smell is so strong he notices after five seconds.

“Hey, what are you cooking?” He scrunches up his nose. “Guys?”

Leo sees Percy’s injured arm and he messily drops his backpack on the entrance before rushing over to him.

“What happened?” He looks at the kitchen and his frown deepens. “Did you fight with our microwave?”

“I put a burriton in it without taking the stupid foil,” Percy groans.

You walk into the room once more holding a small tube of ointment. 

“Don’t move, I’ve got you—Oh, hi Leo!”

You kiss him shortly before starting to rub the cream on Percy’s forearm. 

“How was work?”

“Fun. But not as crazy as whatever the hell just happened in here five minutes ago,” He leans back against the counter. “Do I have to set up cameras inside the house to make sure you don’t kill yourselves on accident? This is like the third fire you guys start this week!”

“We’re just a little tired.”

“A little?” Leo asks teasingly.

“You should be kissing the pain away from my body instead of making fun of us!” Percy demands. “If you got no useful advice then please leave the room so Y/N can take care of me.”

“You’re a spoiled child,” You reply, although your tone is sweet.

“Hey, I never said that!” Leo pouts, he quickly pushes you aside playfully and plants a firm kiss on Percy’s lips. 

The older boy smirks against Leo’s mouth and happily reciprocates. You finish your work on Percy’s arm and put the ointment away, looking at the microwave with a tired expression.

“First the coffee maker, now this,” You sigh. “We have no money to buy a new one, what are we going to do?”

“I could ask my dad to build us one,” Leo offers, he moves away from Percy and ignores his complaint. 

“Isn’t he busy with—dunno, God stuff?”

“I’m sure it’ll take him like five minutes to make one, and I bet it’ll be cooler than any of those mortal versions.”

“Okay, you sure can try to convince him,” You snort. “In the meantime, we should keep Percy away from the kitchen until he finishes finals week.”

“I would fight against it, but I honestly don’t trust myself now,” Percy replies, his weariness slowly coming back to his body. “I’m still hungry though...”

“Oh, I brought you doughnuts!” Leo grins. “They’re in my backpack, you can take the bag if you want.”

“I love you so much,” Percy sighs in bliss, standing up and walking directly to the backack Leo has abandoned at the front door.

“Love you too,” Leo beams, his head turns to the side as he sees you clean the mess your boyfriend caused without meaning to. “And we also love you, Y/N. Thank you for looking after Mr Trainwreck.”

“It’s my pleasure,” You grin.

Leo opens his arms and silently waits for you to get closer, you don’t keep him waiting for long.

when did you start writing?

4th grade. literally a life changer when i learned i could make my own writing rather than just read stories.

what’s your biggest challenge as a writer?

as said before, time!

what’s your favorite thing that you’ve ever written?

those moments. i can say with confidence i probably have read it maybe four times this year, and my only complaint is that i wish i had made it longer. one of my older fics, but without a doubt one i feel shows a lot of my strong suits when it comes to writing.

for how long have you been a fandom writer?

i started writing in 2012 for percy jackson, but got rid of all those fics like 2015ish because i hated them all lol. i wrote for yuri on ice for a bit in 2016/2017, but all those fics except for one are gone. and for miraculous ladybug, i started writing in 2016, deleted those fics, and started writing again in early 2018. so yeah, i guess i’ve been writing for a min. 

have you ever written something you didn’t like but posted anyways?

yes all the time omg. in fact, i didn’t like the ending to i’m fallin’ like a summer rain at first yet posted it as soon as i was kinda satisfied with it. i hated writing like the last 2k?? because i was so sleep deprived i felt like i wasn’t writing and drawing the emotions out to the best of my ability (i stayed up until 4am writing it the day it came out)

one thing you don’t like about fanfiction.

kinda don’t want to answer this haha but if i had to name just one thing it’d be writers letting their personal opinions on characters ruin the potential of a story and/or ruining the complexity of what makes up that character. it’s a big nope lol i’ve said this before but i don’t put my personal opinions abt characters into my fics because i don’t want to accidentally cause a reader to start believing my way of thinking
