Tokito Yuichiro- A Bad Feeling

It was so obvious…Of course you have a crush on his twin brother… Muichiro is kind and considerate to everybody he meets whilst him… he’s rude and cold that most Hashira avoid him like the plague

No woman wants a man like him…

It makes sense that you don’t like him in that way. Yuichiro was quite heartbroken as he watched you through the thick strands of his long black to mint green fade hair. Sat besides the brother he had a personal love rivalry against, Muichiro didn’t even sense Yuichiro’s distress over his messy lovelife

What he heard that day as he wondered over to your Estate for a visit. Kanroji suggesting you were interested in Muichiro when he drifted around the corner to a halt, it all clicked whilst you nervously stuttered at the Love Hashira’s confident statement about who you truly crushed on. He has never been nice to you once, all in spite how kind you are to him

You were just being a genuinely good and kind person, something he is not. You were just being friendly to him since he is the identical brother of your long term crush, the one you want. Unaware to Yuichiro, his cemented view on which Tokito Brother you liked was wrong. He didn’t know that you actually liked him, not Muichiro

Sitting besides Muichiro with a sweet smile and your lunch bento box laid calmly on your lap, looking directly at the Mist Hashira to politely listen to his words as he blabbered on and on so cutely about him and his twin’s efforts at their shared missions. Fishing through your bento, you had no clue Yuichiro was sat up on the short brick wall wrapping around the thick tree, facing to the other way from where you and his twin brother chatted loudly and cheerfully

Yuichiro grumbled in pure defeat after a few more seconds, throwing down the bento box he just couldn’t force down his dry throat anymore as he stands and stomps over to the laughing duo behind him. Both you and Muichiro raise your heads up at the Haze Hashira as his gorgeous mint greens burned with a charring jealousy at his own flesh and blood. Sending a shiver of intimidation down Muichiro’s spine, his older twin glared at him like he was a demon

Yuichiro aggressively pinches your wrist and yanks you up just before you could roll out your concerned question of his name. His baggy and loose uniform matching Muichiro covered his limbs as he lifted you up onto your feet and begun dragging you carelessly away from your spot as you felt your cheeks flame in pale rosy red blush

You were a little scared that he was mad at you but feeling his grasp and his eyes on you made you feel so flustered… you just really liked him

Yuichiro finally stopped in place but didn’t dare let go of his intense grip, twisting his head around to scan over for his younger brothers before he twirls on his heels in a quick pace to face you, those mint greens made you feel a amazing wave of power and beauty overwhelm you as you clamped your lips shut to avoid making him any more angry than he seemed to be

Escaped/Modern DBD AU - Including A/B/O Dynamics

I am heavily sleep deprived, but I HAVE to ramble a bit about my little post Entity, A/B/O AU- :,,) It will be a bit long, so I am preemptively apologizing <3

— Pre Information —

• With the survivors and killers finally finding a way to escape the hellish realm, the FBI quickly comes to their aid. The federal agents chose very few, specific killers to rescue, a true Hail Mary to their rehabilitation attempts. The FBI keeps the killers and survivors separate, not wanting to cause any altercations. Yet, they all live in the same, fenced up, secluded cul-de-sac. The killers and survivors are not far distanced, just simply across the road; yet they for the most part get along. The FBI tries to keep them contained and hidden away from the public, still undergoing studies and tests on them to test for any abnormalities. Despite the years of turmoil between the killers and survivors, they don’t all hold a grudge. Especially Legion. They’re happy to normally socialize with the survivors.

— House Arrangements —

• Survivor house arrangements - (average 4-5 bedrooms)

— (4 bds) House 1: Claudette, Meg, Dwight, and Jake. Claudette and Meg have separate rooms, yet often sleep together. All 4 of them get along really well, they’ve known each other the longest. They actually specifically requested to be bunked together. Jake is primarily the cook, with Meg occasionally helping. Claudette and Dwight always mess something up whenever they try to cook by themselves. It’s quite funny. Although Jake is their primary cook…even he messes up from time to time. …they always have backup frozen dinners…just in case…

— (4 bds) House 2: Mikaela, Sable, Feng, and Nea. Mikaela and Sable have separate rooms, but often sleep together. They both get a little annoyed with Nea’s behavior and Feng’s loud gaming of the night. But they never start a fight. Mikaela is the cook of the house, with Sable occasionally helping. Feng is very picky about food, loving the junk foods and snacks. She’ll eat a bag of Cheetos with a microwaveable “dinner” and call it a night. Nea isn’t the most open minded person, but she does enjoy most of the meals made.

— (5 bds) House 3: Haddie, Kate, Yun-Jin, Yui, and Zarina. Haddie and Yui grew to be besties. Yun gets a little annoyed with Kate, and Zarina is a little annoyed with Yun. Despite the occasional passive aggression, they get along. Kate and Zarina make incredible meals when working together. Yun is always a disaster in the kitchen. Every now and then, Yui can make a delicious, unexpected meal, especially when cooked for Haddie. Haddie’s always giving the others recipes she’s interested in trying, but mainly requests meals from Yui.

— (4 bds) House 4: Jane, Élodie, Thalita, and Renato. Surprisingly, everyone gets along well here. The girls occasionally poke fun at Renato for being the only boy amongst girls. But, they can all relax and joke around. It’s a very calming experience, especially with movie nights. Thalita and Jane are the primary cooks, their meals are about average. Elodie isn’t a terrible chef, and Renato goes a little too overboard with spices and sauce… It’s practically inedible whenever he cooks…

— (4 bds) House 5: David, Vitt, Gabriel, and Jeff. These 4 actually get along pretty well. They can all relax and enjoy time together, like watching movies, documentaries, or drama shows. Vitt is always intrigued by Jeff’s unique, rough art style. Gabriel is the cook of the house, he makes surprisingly good meals.

— (4 bds) House 6: Ace, Adam, Felix, and Jonah. Although these 4 don’t seem compatible from first glance, these guys will wheeze all night. Ace is definitely the funniest of them, and sends all the others into wheezing fits. They get along super well, staying up all night to watch ridiculous, useless documentaries. They live off frozen microwave dinners and homemade “dad dinners.”

• Killer house arrangements - (smaller houses, average 2-3 bedrooms)

— (4 bds) House 1: Susie, Julie, Frank, Joey. They each have their own rooms, yet they all occasionally curl up in a bed together. When they’re not all in a bed together, it’s usually just Frank and Julie, sometimes Joey joining in. None of them can cook especially well, but Joey and Susie definitely try their best. When working together, they can occasionally make a pretty surprising meal.

— (2 bds) House 2: Hillbilly and Wraith. They each have their own rooms, yet Max typically loves the living room more than anything. He loves the tv and his iPad, he loves distracting himself behind a screen. Phillip is the primary cook of the house, and doesn’t mind bunking with Max. He makes extraordinary meals, and actually enjoys watching all the media with the screen obsessed man. He’s super supportive of the man’s mental and physical therapy too, treating him with extra care, encouraging him with his therapy sessions.

— (3 bds) House 3: Huntress, Nurse, Artist. Each have their own rooms, yet on occasion, Sally and Anna have been caught sleeping together. Carmina has been trying to get accustomed to her new prosthetics, with frequent physical therapy trying to train her. She’s able to enjoy making art again. If she’s ever in pain or struggling with her mobility, she always has Sally by her side to help. Anna doesn’t mind helping either, especially when it comes to pushing her wheelchair. It doesn’t bother her. Sally is grateful to actually help someone again, learning that the pity kills of the past were wrong. Anna always just wanted a kid to take care of, and (although Carmina is older than a kid), she still sees her as younger, happy to take care of her. Anna and Sally almost act like mothers to her. Sally is the primary cook with fairly good meals. Whenever Anna gets in the kitchen, she always makes something repulsive, yet she enjoys it…

— A/B/O Dynamics —

• Roles in order from top to bottom of power

— (Top of the power chain. These are the most dominant, territorial, powerful people) Alphas: Meg (but she lies and claims to be a beta), Yun-Jin, Sable, Jeff, Yui, Anna, and Joey.

— (Basically the second in command to alphas, mainly lacking some of the intimidation and strength. They are heavily physiologically territorial though) Deltas: Nea, David, Zarina, Gabriel, Thalita, Max, and Julie.

— (The “normal humans.” There’s nothing particularly special about these individuals when it comes to unique scents and urges, yet they are still widely accepted into packs. Where they lack such unique traits, they are super empathetic, quickly reading emotions, and calming down distressed pack members) Betas: Jake, Ace, Feng, Haddie, Jane, Vitt, Felix, Élodie, Jonah, Phillip, and Carmina.

— (Basically betas with omega characteristics. They are submissive to Betas, Deltas, and Alphas except omegas. They relate to omegas as they have strong maternal instincts even if they are male or female) Gammas: Dwight, Kate, Adam, Renanto, Frank, and Sally.

— (The absolute bottom of the power chain. They are super submissive and of course fertile despite their biological sex) Omegas: Claudette, Mikaela, and Susie.

— Claudette and Meg are just one step away from being bonded mates. Claudette is just a little too nervous for the bonding bite, waiting before making such a big decision. These two are direly in love with one another though! <3

— Yun-Jin is rather cocky in her dominant role, letting the power go to her head. She gets into squabbles with Zarina from time to time thanks to their clashing dominant mindsets.

— Yun-Jin and Yui get along fairly well, as they are (arguably) the most dominant, threatening alphas of the group. They can put the other members back in their places with a simple shout.

— Meg is seemingly always falling into fights, specifically trying to keep other dominants away from Claudette. She was one of the few omegas, to which the dominant members wanted to claim her. Not wanting to blow her “beta cover,” the redhead tries her best not to explode too harshly.

— Sable is more of a level headed alpha, yet Nea somehow finds every irritating button to press. With Nea being just a little lower than Sable, she tries to lash out, to prove her own dominance. This always ends with Sable snapping, putting her back in her place.

— Anna and Sally are “unofficially together.” Although they’ve never talked about having a romantic relationship, they just kind of clicked together over the years. It’s not uncommon for them to act like a married couple.

— Frank, Joey, and Julie are all dating one another, yet Susie is only dating Julie. With their poly and open lifestyle, it works out perfectly for each of them.

— Phillip has feelings for Max, but neither of them know how to express the love. Instead of confessing, Phillip just stays by the man’s side, helping him through his disability and therapy. It’s the least he could do for someone he truly loves.

Detective Conan-Case Round-Up(Chapter 781-786)

This was an interesting case as it ran quite long for a case that didn’t have much narrative impact. It did have a lot of twists though. And left quite a deep impression on me in a probably unintended way. In this case, we find out why Heiji originally came to Beika this time because he wanted to show Conan a mystery. By the just to put into perspective how much of a trek Heiji and Kazuha make, Beika is said to be a ward of Tokyo and the fastest method to get from Tokyo to Osaka is the Bullet Train, clocking in at 2 hours. By car it’s around 6. So Heiji really loves Conan to be coming by this much. The case turns out to be about the CEO of a graphic design company that gets murdered and leaves a disappearing dying message on the tiles of the bathroom he was renovating. To avoid spoilers, I’ll talk about it past the “Keep reading” and go more in-depth into it as well.

Okay, so that was a lot of twists. Breaking down the case it turns out it was the secretary who was the CEO’s daughter from his first marriage and angry at the son and wife for covering up his death. She got revenge by first killing the son using his gluttonous attitude and an optical illusion to make it seem like the piece of pastry that had the poison on it was bigger, and then blaming the death on the wife by using her sandals and making it look like she committed suicide through another optical illusion which caused her to forget how Kanji looked like and ac in a very specific manner because of that. I really  loved how thematically consistent it was and how it centered around the concept of optical illusion while also being about graphic design. This was a really strong case all around.

This case had a lot of moving parts, but the one it utilized most was previous knowledge as it helped to solve the murders, with both optical illusions being things people could have possibly known. Though I did know the trick with the baumkuchen, my mind totally blanked until they brought it up and the Kanji trick is understandable through sheer common sense as well. Speaking of Baumkuchen, after seeing it in Cipher Acadamey I’m now seeing it here and I wonder if I’ve ever had any. We used to get a lot of sweet type things from the local bakery but it’s german so I don’t know if our bakery would make it. Time to hit up my german friend I guess. Speaking of german, these previous knowledge parts always remind me of the RACHE moment in Study in Scarlet.

Anyways, on top of it all, we got a return of some of my favourite characters, Kansuke, Yui Uehara, and Komei. I always found their dynamic interesting and their character designs have them chewing up the scenery. They feel like they dropped right out of a 80’s hard boiled hong kong detective film. I don’t know why but they also always seem to have higher stakes, maybe it’s because their harsh designs cut such a sharp contrast to Aoyama’s worlds as opposed to his more agreeable silhouettes. Anyways, I’m not a good enough artist to speculate but they just do. Let’s leave it at that. 

Now let’s get to the character drama. We get Ran telling Kazuha about how Shinichi confessed and she worries that she might have pressured him into it. It’s really sweet how much she cares about him and how understanding she is. Though Conan confessed, if you can call it that(I guess it’s the best you’ll get out of a deduction freak), it was because he saw how much Ran actually cared about him. And I understand that he doesn’t tell her about his predicament because he worries for her safety, you can’t blame her for not figuring it out because frankly it’s an insane conclusion to come to and Shinichi’s also pulled off some impossible stunts to keep the illusion going that most people wouldn’t be able to bridge the assumptions between. Such as the very convenient antidote pill.

Anyways, Kazuha tries to get Ran to give Shinichi a reply by promising to confess her feelings to Heiji and she does but he runs off to Conan before she can finish. I really love Heiji and Shinichi’s relationship. He straight up acknowledges himself as Shinichi’s best friend and that’s where it strikes a really sad cord with me. Because both Shinichi and Heiji both didn’t have peers that they could relate to and talk to and get excited about stuff with until way later in life. They’ve lead pretty solitary lives but now Conan finally has a lot of peers from the Detective Boys to Heiji to Sera. But Heiji is still pretty alone.

I have questions for the comic too, the ninja who marked Yuichi said "I smell" not see, why?.. and just in the next panel "jolt" ...but maybe is spoiler, so not problem if you can't explain

Usagi Pile! That’s right. Please take note of how “beds” are actually more like bean bags ;) It’s flexible, it’s circular, and there’s more surface area the more you put weight on it, so it fits more than it seems. Some have fluffy tops, some are just normal, and others might be fluffy all over— depends on how they like it, I suppose.

The twins grew up mostly alone with just the two of them and have each other’s backs at all times, so there isn’t a night they aren’t sleeping on each other. Yuichi snores the loudest and lays in the weirdest positions, while Shuji manages to sleep through a thunderstorm, so they’re kind of perfect for each other… Yui also knows exactly how to wake Shuji up if he needs a quick response from his brother, so he technically just lets Shuji sleep in. When they start living with Mizuki it causes a small, teeny tiny problem…

When Miyamoto is born, his parents are more than willing to pile. Yuichi joins in and Mizu can’t even protest, he’s related so he deserves it, and still living with them so he might as well. It starts to be more normal to sleep in 4 since Miyamoto is too young to be left alone. Once he’s old enough to have his own bed, they don’t pile as much except for winter or when he has a nightmare. Yuichi, at this point, learned to sleep by himself, so he doesn’t bother Mizu or his brother anymore. He might bother Miya sometimes, in Yuichi fashion. “Ohhh, My Nephew, I can't sleep~!” He would see if Miyamoto was awake. No response? Yuichi just ever so slightly worms himself over to the bed and lays on one end of it. There was a response? Yuichi would bellyflop onto Miya’s bed, which obviously gives Mizuki a heart attack if she heard about it, but it’s funny for the other two. Then they goof off, Yuichi would have done his job for the day, and they either sleep like that or he goes back to his room if Miya requests privacy.

I can't ... maybe it's just me but a giant metal plate over the entire half of the head might hinder vision just a little bit ! maybe you see something I don't, though.... or smell... How is Callista's relationship with the rest of her siblings and with her parents? How does Callista feel about the rest of the Sakamaki brothers and about the Mukami and Tsukinami brothers?

And I hope it's okay to ask this >_<.

I remember you mentioned that Yui will appear in the Excruciating Duplicity universe, but what will her role in the story be? Personally, I hate that the fandom only uses her to ship her with Ayato, because I feel like the fandom reduce her character only to being Ayato's S/O. In no way am I trying to tell you what you can or can't do with your story! I just think MC/Yui has potential to bring something interesting to the plot (as well as the rest of the Diaboys).

And lastly, I really like the universe you created for this blog! You have a lot of imagination ♡.

How is Callista's relationship with the rest of her siblings and with her parents?

Callista has a slightly complicated relationship with her family - but it's nowhere near the amount of complicated as the rest of the universe, and my other OCs.

Since Calli was born with such a gap between herself and Ioanna - then again before Helios (still working out the exact time lapses), she had no immediate siblings while growing up. What's more, since her parents had gotten to the point where the Adler Kingdom was in an age of peace - and having all ready raised five children prior - they used Calli's birth as a sign to 'spread their wings'.

So, while they doted on her - since she was their only child at the time, Calli did get to grow her own independence. She had such dazzling older siblings - all of which had their own lives once she was born. While none were particularly cold to her, they didn't really interact much. Once her younger brothers came into the picture, Calli was excited to finally have siblings. However, she ended up being more motherly to them, rather than a sibling.

All and all, it's not that they have a negative relationship. Callista loves all of her siblings and her parents. Moving away to be with the Sakamaki wasn't something she wanted - nor they, however, she is duty bond to ensure her families security. Something she is happy to do.

How does Callista feel about the rest of the Sakamaki brothers and about the Mukami and Tsukinami brothers?

By the time Calli arrives - it is set in the future of the current cannon. So, all of the boys are older, out of high school, and moving towards where their futures are going to take them. By rest - I am thinking you mean outside of Reiji and Shu, so I will go with that.

The triplets are not around much. With Laito and Kanato always running away from their duty; really the only one she sees is Ayato (surprisingly). From what she has seen, the two younger of the triplets seem fine enough - but a little off putting. They both stare quite a bit, but both with different tones. Ayato is involved with the plans to over throw Karlheinz - so he comes around more often. He is loud and outspoken - which isn't a bad thing, but Callista thinks he should think before speaking. Subaru is also involved - and gets along with Calli well enough. His temper is mostly on display with the others - he doesn't get nearly as angry with Calli.

Now the Mukami & Tsukinami are another story. They do exists in the ED universe - and prove to be troublesome to the efforts against Karlheinz. Callista isn't aware of the plotting - or at least not to the extent that everyone else is - but she does know that those two families are not on good terms with the Sakamaki. From what little she has seen of them, they put Reiji and Shu both in a bad mood - so to her, it's understood to keep her distance from them.

Yui will appear in the Excruciating Duplicity universe, but what will her role in the story be?

You know, I don't really know yet. Personally, I don't know a lot about Yui - even though I have seen lots of post about her. I think that Yui has something to offer the story. In the case of ED I am leaning towards her either being with Ruki or Ayato. Maybe even Carla?

I kind of want her to be what she is in the cannon - someone who is fought over. I don't plan to change anything about who she is, or her role in everything. If anything, I feel that will work to the advantage of the war plot - having Cordelia running around inside of Yui will get interesting when Karl and Burai's conflict comes to a head.

That being said - her story would have all ready begun once Callista joins the plot. Since she meets the families in high school, I would assume that she has found her place once Calli joins in. Where that place is - I am not sure. She might end up with a completely different boy - I'm not too sure.

Really the spark of her even being in the story is because of the new OCs that I am making for a certain boy (the ones I have been dropping hints about). Because of who they are with - Yui kind of has to be in the universe. But yeah, having her will be interesting - I'll need to think on it more.

So if I was being realistic about this we know he's basically incapable of loving or at least believes love is nonsense.

-He is one of those people who think they don't really have a type. That he simply likes everybody, with their complexities and distinctiveness.

-Being an easy-going and altruistic individual, all sorts of people are naturally drawn to him after all.

-But because of that, he also tries his best to avoid any form of toxic relationship - but he doesn't realise he is the one toxic for himself.

-Can't help but to grow attached to any people who seem kind-hearted, honest and tolerant.

-Meaning he could get manipulated. Dudes like Shin, Kou, Kino or Laito are the worst for him because they look so sincere and trustworthy. Fortunately, due to his status, he is much more cautious when he knows he's surrounded by demons. But it's only a question of time before he falls for their sweet lies.

-Marion doesn't care that much about looks or intelligence. He knows he has a little preference for wavy/curly hair, no matter the length as he likes roaming his fingers in his lover's hair or giving them head massages.

-Also, just because he is fit and muscular does not mean he's looking for the same thing in his partner. Round hips, small waist, broad shoulders, long legs. He doesn't care. He'll still caress and kiss every single part of them.

-He's far from stupid but he knows he has some academic and general knowledge shortcomings; therefore, he doesn't care if his s/o is at the top of their class or not. As long as they can talk, share and laugh together, he's more than happy.

-And he loves making someone laugh. It's the purest, most sincere reaction.

What kind of ask do you not accept?/ignore?

🧩 Great question. Honestly, I'll only delete asks when I can tell it's all by the same sender and the messages essentially say the same thing. Spamming my inbox with the same request over and over again in the same day is definitely a violation of my rules and I'd appreciate it if people exercised some patience with me. I understand I may be slow with getting to your ask, but if there's a scenario you really want to see, try sending it to me again a week later rather than 5 minutes later.

Referring to the pinned post on this blog or simply the rules is a great place to start.

I'll typically ignore asks that give off minor vibes. Stuff that's the same word or phrase copy/pasted like 100 times, scenarios that both most likely wouldn't happen + just don't appeal to me compared to some other asks I have piling up. For instance, I've received many asks where Yui has said some rather... 'questionable' things that she most likely would never say to Ruki even if he tortured her. I don't really want to portray certain ships in a poor lighting whatsoever if it seems OOC.

And, to be candid with you, what I feel like answering at any given moment really fluctuates with my mood. For instance, sometimes I'll be in the mood to write smut, and other times I'll feel like answering gore or fluff related asks. It really depends.

However, if it helps, I do have basic standards that I try to hold myself to. They're what I've labeled my "ask priorities."

1. Requests for comfort. The world is a harsh place sometimes, and I understand being comforted by someone as charming as Ruki is something that might really lift people's spirits. So, on occasion, I'll soften him up for the sake of catharsis.

2. RP starters. Everyday I always have at least 2-3 RP starters sent in even without reblogging any sort of meme, so I try to prioritize those to an extent. However, if I feel like I've been giving some people more attention than others, then it may take me days to answer these. I'd like to give everyone a chance to interact equally, or as close to 'equal' as I can humanly get.

3. Meme prompts. When I do reblog memes, however, I definitely want to prioritize these since I don't like to reblog stuff then forget about it.

4. Questions/messages for Admin. Sometimes I'll break character and answer things on myself if they're important and/or interesting topics in relation to Ruki's character, or simply a kind compliment praising my work. I like to stay on top of the nice messages I receive since it truly means the world to me.

5. Generic asks, i.e. what’s your favorite ___? These are my favorites to answer when I'm feeling a bit tired and need something simple to work with, lol.

6. NSFW. Yes, I understand we're all thirsty for Ruki here, but sometimes I feel uncertain about my smut in that my writing tends to get repetitive, ahaha. I do really enjoy writing NSFW answers, though. Sometimes I just need a few days to recharge the smut brain because I don't want to disappoint people with writing that sounds too similar as the recent NSFW asks.

7. Reactions to specific stories with characters, setting, plot. Sometimes people send me scenarios in which Ruki is their S/O or family-related asks, such as "Kou did ___, your reaction?" I really like the creativity behind these asks and try to get to these when I can, but sometimes I do receive continuations and it can be a lot to keep track of, just like my RP threads, ahaha. I'm convinced I probably need two separate Excel trackers: one for RP and one for the anon scenarios I receive.

8. Longer scenarios that require more thought and polished writing. I really want the scenario asks to turn out perfect, which is why I only work on them when I'm very energized and in a particularly strong writing mood.

9. Headcanon requests. There's no particular reason why this is at the bottom, as my headcanon posts are actually my most popular. Don't get me wrong, I love to write headcanons, but I just love writing as Ruki himself a bit more in comparison.

I hope this was helpful. I'd also like to add that I probably won't be answering anons that I can tell are from the same person, especially if we already RP a lot, since like I said earlier, I'd like to give all a chance to interact without exactly giving anyone 'special' treatment. - YUI MY LOVE

- seems very cool and standoffish when you first approach her. A lot of survivors won’t approach her because of this, so she’s actually pretty confident with approaching people-it helps that she’s so assertive too. That being said, if someone approaches her, she has a lot of respect for them! She knows she can come across as intimidating, but she prefers it that way so she can suss a person out before they approach.

- Probably met her s.o helping them out in their first few trials, rather than introducing herself personally at the campfire. Chasing a killer off of you, or running in for a pallet save-before racing back off again.

- If it's your first time she'll realise pretty quickly and help you out, crouching with you on the generator to give you a quick explanation of the realm. Or, if your daring enough to pull a stunt with the killer first thing, a quick lecture on what in the hell were you thinking running a chase that close with no jungle gym in sight.

- To catch Yui's eye, you'll need to prove yourself worthy of her time. She values people who aren't going to give up without raising hell. And if you find yourself in the entity's clutches, chances are you're going to learn how to do just that. If she approaches you its mainly because she sees something in you, a spark of defiance however big or small.

- I headcanon that while she can’t speak perfect English, her schooling has given her a rudimentary hold on the language-she’s also picked up a lot since coming into the fog. She can hold decent conversations with people, but has trouble deeply connecting. Because of this, she tends to be more quiet around the campfire since she doesn’t want to be embarrased by her lack of English skills-it reminds her too much of the shame her father held for her when she discontinued her schooling and left Hida for the low paying jobs she’d picked up at Nagoya.

- This, paired with her distant appearance and steely gaze makes it difficult for everyone to make conversation with her at the start. She's used to new survivors apprehension of her, as uneasy as it makes her feel.

- But if you come up to her and chat, she’ll try her best! Is embarrased by her mistakes, even though she’s been around the survivors long enough to know they won’t make fun of her. Not when it’s their life she could be saving next trial. I think she’d really bond well if you showed an interest in learning Japanese, or if you knew some yourself-even if you can only hold down a couple of words, she’d be proud of you for taking the time to learn it. 

- language buddies talking in a different language while everyone struggles to understand what the hell is going on akwbdnwjbkef

- or helping each other to the point where you can hold a conversation-it’s so rewarding and distracting from the usual routine waiting and escaping the never ending trials. Plus it’s nice to have someone who can translate a word into her native tongue, because sometimes it’s hard to find the right ways to convey the deeper meaning through direct translations.

- totally not just geeking out bc I so would beg her to help practise my failing japanese here o//o

- Anyways, she’d more than likely become your rudimentary teacher of sorts. I like to think Jake, Bill, Yui, Adam are the sort of de-facto teachers of the survivors. Yui doesn’t like seeing others helplessly die in the trials, so she’ll find ways to distract the killer or pallet save you whilst the killer is hauling your ass to the nearest hook. She mainly shows you as many sneaky tricks to divert the killers attention to help your teammates. Expects you to help out as well-your going to have to learn quickly with Yui, because she wants to make sure everyone gets out safely-not to have a deadweight leaning on her from trial to trial, hoping she'll come and rescue you.

- She’s a very closed off person, especially pre Entity, but post Entity she’s become a little more open to sharing her more vulnerable moments. You can’t really be private and closed off in a torture realm where the only thing thats keeping you alive is your ability to feel emotions. Yet, she doesn’t want to unload her issues onto you. You’re fairly new, and struggling with enough already. You’ll have to encourage her to open up, and just be with her in the meantime.

- Open up to her, and be honest about your own feelings; and she finds herself spilling her emotions to you in no time when your simply there. Hearing you talk honestly gives her the courage to do so as well. She might not say it explicitly, but she feels special knowing you consider her close enough to be open about just about anything.

- You'll become each others comfort, through the good and the bad. There's not much to look forward to in the realm, but Yui makes damn sure that you're in good spirits, or at least have someone to lean on when you need it. She knows exactly what to say now to make you feel better.

- I think when Yui is closer to people, she's actually a little competitive and playful! That fiery spirit still shines through, but she feels like she can let loose of her "impenetrable" steel grey gaze. She looks a lot younger when she's around those she's fond of.

- Getting too close to people in a fabricated torture realm never ends well, so it takes a while for Yui to admit to herself how close you are to her. Sure, you mean the world to her and she rushes to finish a trial just to be refreshed by your presence again, but it's not as bad a it seems. It's just a silly little crush that softens her troubled frown with nothing but a glance, that gives her shivers when you hold her hand and make her promise she'll make it out okay next trial. She isn't down bad, not at all. (Wife,,,,accept your new physical state,,,,,you are Down Bad,,,,,she a lowkey simp but she'll never let on ksgsjdvd)

- Does this thing where as soon as you come out of a trial, her eyes are on you. Like you can feel the concern trailing off of it, since your used to her silent glances in all their many nuances. But everyone else is like, yo did you do smth to piss Yui off?? Why is she looking at you so intently all the time??? So you approach her one time like, "is everything okay Yui? 🤔" AND SHE KSBSJSBSJSBS IRL

- She just kinda sits there as her brain is like

What about the time she first saved you and she mistook her heart beating like crazy for a killer sneaking up on her? Was that really your sneaky cute ass all along?

- I think when she finally admits it (defeat) to herself she’s very nonchalant about it. She’s been wasting so much time that she’s suddenly so impatient, and wants to see you right away to rip the bandaid off. Though she hasn’t really had much experience in dating and romance, she's not even going to try hiding her feelings from you-she can't hide anything from you. She’ll take your rejection fairly well-she respects and admires you as a friend before anything else-but she has an inkling that you want something more too.

- It doesn't help that she's made a small growing fan club out of the survivors making bets with offerings to see who will ask out the other 💀

Then scanning the rest of the survivors in the trial, scanning them to see if they look to be in shape or need support after the events of their last trial. She has a silent caring side that amplifies in the realm. Though she won't pressure anyone into talking it out, she shows her care in strength- the look of sheer determination in spite of whatever the trial shoved their way often moves everyone to continue. I feel like she's the type to feel a bit more hopeful every time she escapes with her team unscathed.

- No matter what happens, it's necessary to her that everyone is accounted for. If another survivor is having a hard time, Yui will try her best to help them out; maybe not with words, but she picks up on little ways that can help a lot. She might pull you into helping out too, she thinks of it as a bonding moment. She does it partly because she misses her gang back home. Yui is known for being tough, but she's also popular for her caring support.

- She's made a few friends for this, and she'd definitely introduce you to the survivors if your having trouble making friends! I see her being friends with Nancy, Zarina, Jill, Jake, Meg, Kate, Cheryl, and Bill. Has big sister energy all over her, I think a lot of the younger girls would look up to her. She'd be generally polite to the others but she finds it hard to be close to the male survivors since the stalker incident, plus she's spent most of her time pre entity with the girls of the Sakura 7 gang. Has a soft spot for Jake and Bill tho, Jake really helped her out when she was starting out in the realm and she sees Bill as a grandfather figure of sorts.

- she loves loves loves that you give her time and space to open up when you can see there's something on her mind. It’s difficult for her to do so and she knows how difficult it is for others to do so, so the fact you share that respect for boundaries means a lot to her. Once she puts her trust in you, you have it for life. So she'll come around when she's cooled down and gathered herself-shes trying to come straight to you these days instead of bottling it all up like she usually would. She wants to be able to lean on you too.

- she doesn't really get jealous because she just trusts you so much. Knows you can hold your own, but if you send her the HELP ME eyes she has no troubles coming to your rescue. Would insist you keep strong boundaries w others if you have trouble with it, she hates the idea that you could be taken advantage of.

- lowkey I feel like you might get mad imposter syndrome being around her bc she's so?? Amazing??? And espcially if (like me) you have issues with your self esteem, she seems way out of your league. This pisses Yui off if she finds out bc do you not see? With those eyes?? Where did you drop your eyes lemme find those for you so you can SEE that perfection 👑

- But seriously, she wants you to be built up by her confidence, not feel inadequate by it. Will remind you as many times as you need, she's not perfect. It's no use putting her on a pedestal; she's guarded, impulsive, quick to judge, terrified under a glazed bravado. Even her own passion can overwhelm her at times. She has her own demons to battle, and she's ready to share that with someone else-you lol.

- "You're as strong as I am. You know that, right?" She finds strength in you and your qualities just as much as you find strength in her.

- Its a slow burn relationship, but once you have Yui Kimura everything seems worth it in the end.

seeing leosagi trend on twitter makes me so happy though at the same time i kinda avoid it cuz a majority of it is yu/ichi usagi that's with leo and i don't wanna ruin the fun of the people who enjoy the samurai rabbit show, i tried getting into the show a month ago but it just... did not catch my eye the same way rise did

maybe it's cuz the show's not technically about the og usagi or the fact that i struggle to care about cast and story itself cuz it feels... boring to me? idk, it's just hard for me to get into shipping rise leo with yu/ichi when i'm not really interested in the character or show (yu/ichi i mean), esp when i'm more attached to everyone's version of rise usagi

Okay  1. I was answering another ask when I saw this and deiced nope I need to answer this! 2.no so yes let us talk about this because i see you I feel you and get what you mean as well.3. Sorry this is gonna be a lil long.

Okay so I recalled when they originally announced doing the samurai rabbit show and I was excited cause Usagi content. Forgot about it till finally getting back into tmnt after being convinced to finally watch rise cause o didn't when it originally aired. Which sent me down a rabbit hole obsession on usagi in time for the Samurai Rabbit show coming out. And to make this easier when I say Usagi I’ll be talking about Usagi Miyamoto and Yu/ichi for Usagi Yu/ichi yes I know they have the same first name that's the point it’s just for clarification here.

Now I do not mind the show it’s fine for what it is and I think Yu/ichi is cute and interesting but I have a love hate thing for the show. I spoke to a mutual on tiktok about this and I know I made a post on my thoughts about the show. I like the concept of Usagi descendant  Yu/ichi trying to become a samurai in a future time period when Samurai aren’t around, because he idolizes Usagi. Only to find out Usagi is a bad guy so he tries to clear their name. Despite that set up its not really what we get and Yui/chi didn’t really clear their name im still annoyed about that. I do still enjoy Yu/ichi mostly the design I even drew some inspiration from it for my own rise usagi because I liked the bangs. And I do find he and rise leo could be fun buuuuuuuut He is not the Usagi I want.

See as I have gotten more into Usagi’s own series I have just really come to love the character even more and love the idea of him in rise compared to a cross over with samurai rabbit. I just love the idea of the conflict in personality I just want him to be a grounded samurai who is emotionally in touch. Like especially with Leo going into his role as a leader I just love the idea of that being when he meets Usagi because of how special that friendship is in the 03 series. Besides I enjoy the Lore of Usagi Yojimbo and would love tidbits of it in rise uwu

Well I will still share and enjoy ship art of both cause i’m greedy and like Leosagi I do agree with people that the two should have different ships names. I saw seabunny mention for rise leo and yu/ichi and thats cute. But yeah well the sudden boom on twitter been nice to see and I have a friend who prefers that version simply cause yu/ichi is cannon over a rise usagi is. Thats fine though I also feel there another reason for the push on yui/chi i’m just being skeptical though so i wont say that in this. I just personally perfect Usagi myself over yui/chi. Again theres nothing wrong with him it’s just well I feel hes getting more praise than what is earned really. Based off the show am I a fan of it? eh I like it i don't know if its something i’ll re-watch I wish the writing was better I kind wanna do a fix it fic for it but that's a lot of work compared to one shots lol

TL;DR: Well I dont mind yu/ichi as a charater when it comes to the leosagi thing esp for Rise I’m in the side of Usagi Miyamoto over Usagi Yui/chi. And feel they should have different ship names also 03/2012 usagi > over any other usagi uwu

MONKEY D LUFFY

Oh my god! That’s so cool Y/N!!!

Luffy would be so damn smitten by your hobby of taking pictures of the lightning.

He’d be so impressed to see you in action and would crave for more of it!

He’d take your hobby to a next level and would jump with you in his arms towards the lightning. Yes he’d never let anything happen to you though. The man likes to be in risky situations always.

He’d be the absolute partner for the photography session for you!

Once he took you so close that his hair and your hair stood up because of the close range, indicating a lightning was about to hit you two.

Then the lightning struck you two, but Luffy was there to shield you and protect you! He is a rubber man after all. The lightning would have ZERO effect on him.

You’d inspect for any wounds but he’d give you a grin and say that he is totally fine and lightning had no effect on him.

After that you and Luffy definitely got a lecture from the Navigator and the snipper. Luffy even got some kicks and punches as he almost risked your life.

But you knew you could trust Luffy with your whole heart. That was one of the reason why, you got the absolute best capture of lightning ever.

RORONOA ZORO

“Don’t go too far away! Wait for me! OYE Y/N!”

He’d become the overprotective boyfriend because of your interest in this hobby.

He’d be proud of the way you are being so daring while taking photos, but he’d also be worried because of the way you just go towards the lightning to take photos.

One day, Zoro thought it’d be great to take a nap as the weather was nice and sunny. After some time he woke up to the sound of thunder.

“What the hell?! it was all sunny just a while ago”, he’d think and would look for you, but you weren’t there, also your camera was missing. He suspected something like this would happen so he’d run in the rain looking at the lightning.

Then he’d find you taking pictures with your camera. He’d see how happy you’d look as you took pictures. Making him stop in his tracks.

Trust me, Zoro would forget that he should scold you for leaving without him. But… he’d just look at you. Mesmerised by the way you again run after the lightning.

What?! Running after the lightning again!!! His senses would come back after a while and would come to you and throw you over his shoulder and run away before the lightning hits you.

Zoro would run in the speed of another lightning with you still dangling on his shoulder. But you’d still get amazing shots of lightning anyway. In the way, if a lightning was about to hit, he’d repel the lightning away with a strong blow using his swords.

You never doubted Zoro’s skills and scenes like this made you to appreciate him even more!

“Nice one Zoro!”

“Hehe thank- IDIOT LETS LEAVE!!”, he’d still blush like a baby at your compliments.

These risky situations only made you people to fall in love even more and would stay memorable for you two!

BLACK LEG SANJI

“My dear its dangerous so, Let me prote- Y/N! LET ME COME WITH YOU!!!”

He is really impressed by your hobby but would be terrified as hell because of the way you risk everything to take photos of the lightning.

For Sanji your hobby is amazing too. If he sees the pictures of the lightning you took, he’d be hella proud of you.

Ussop would never hear the end of how amazing your pictures are.

Sanji even brags about you with Zoro saying, “Hey moss head, did you see the pictures Y/N took the other day. You bet your ass, can’t even click one picture properly. Look at my love, so talented”.

Even though Sanji was proud of you, he would still be a bit scared. He tried to put on a brave front by saying he’d protect you, but his insecurities would make him think otherwise.

One day as he got to know that there was going to be a thunder storm. He started to look for you and you were already ahead of him. He asked that he want to come with you and you agreed.

As you take pictures, he would keep an eye on you and the thunder storm. Making sure it’s not getting bad.

Sanji loves to watch you as you take pictures. You seem excited and totally focused on your hobby.

You wouldn’t care about the rain drenching you head to toe. But Sanji was definitely worried about your health.

He gulped every time you look at your picture as you see it after clicking a picture. His heart started to beat faster, its like seeing you for the first time again for Sanji.

You were like an angel to him. No one could be compared to you. You are the one who seemed more beautiful than the nature herself to him.

In between his thoughts about you, he forgot to notice the thunder storm getting bad.

“Oh no! We have to go Y/N come with me”

He’d carry you like a bride and sky walk in an instant to get to safety. As he was doing that, you got the perfect angel from the sky to capture the most perfect you could.

As you both reached a safer area, you showed him the picture and jump on him to hug him. He blushed like hell that time.

“Thankyou Sanji!! I couldn’t have gotten this picture if you didn’t sky walk with me. Thankyou”, you said as you went closer to him and wiped the blood dripping from his nose.

Damn he thought and he still keeps on thinking he is absolutely blessed to have you.

TRAFALGAR D WATER LAW

“Now?! You know you catch a cold everyti- FINE DON’T GO ALONE!”

Law would be totally worried about you going on your little adventures.

Law would be damn proud of the pictures you take but wouldn’t show it. But you knew he was proud because of the smirk he has when he sees your photos.

He even has some pictures you took, stuck on his work desk. Mostly it’ll be covered with paper works and documents but, you know how much he treasures them.

One time you went to him to tell him about going to take photos. He started telling you about how your health would be affected to stay in the rain for so long.

You didn’t care, he gave up and accompanied you on the little trip. The doctor was actually very happy. But he didn’t show his emotions.

Law liked to be beside you during this session always. He loved to see his lover get all spirited and hyped up. It felt happy to him see you happy.

You were the light in his dark life. Or at least he thought it every time he saw you. His life as a pirate captain doctor wasn’t easy. But you always looked like a ray of sunshine in his lonely life.

Seeing the storm getting closer to you people, he’d make sure to be ready to use his powers to leave ASAP.

As the lightning was about to hit, he used a rock to teleport to another place. Just in time.

“Law!”

“What now?”, he enquired only for to see your surprised expression as you looked at the photo you took. He leaned down and saw that, it was a beautiful photo of lightning.

“I love this. Thankyou Law”, you said as you hugged him. He blushed and returned the hug. He wasn’t really used to physical appreciation so he always got flustered whenever you hugged him.

‘Yeah… I love this dork’, he thought before he smiled and hugged you tighter. He loved you and you knew it even if he didn’t use his words. Because his actions always spoke to you.

Top 5 things you love about Laito owo

Ok this was something from January that I was like “god I have no idea, Tsuki how dare you make me choose” and so to force myself to come to an answer, I made it the first theme of Laito Appreciation Week. So hitting two birds with one stone here!

Laito Appreciation Week 2021: 5 Things you like about Laito and why?

1. This man’s character is one of the most deep and complex ones I’ve ever had the pleasure to come across. Hence why this blog is tHICC, but so is his development. He’s such a layered character and you can tell that the writers do love him given the development and good writing he constantly gets (on average) like goddamb. He still boggles my mind sometimes and I love learning new things about his character that link to other things about him too. He’s just such an interesting character.

2. His voice. No cap, Daisuke Hirakawa does so well with his character, from voice drops to subtle tonal changes, just all of it. We all know that voice drops just kill all of us, but I also wanna admit the parts where he just becomes so excited *cough* aroused *cough* where he talks rly fast and that just—😳 but even his lil laughs and all the rest of his voice work add to his character so much. You can tell when his facade is breaking or when something goes a different direction than he planned. It’s amazing.

3. THIS MAN IS SO BIG BRAINED. I know I’ve made countless posts on this but I can’t stress enough of how massive this man’s noggin is. Carla even comments on it and I still freaking love that. The fact that he has logic and part of the human condition down to a T terrifies me but intrigues me. In HDB he knows Yui’s steps, and sure watching her helps but he still knows and plans everything. He’s able to easily read people (most of the time) and he’s incredibly cunning. Just,,,, I love him.

4. I love his little quirks. I don’t mean uwu quirky, I’m talking about the fact that he does crossword puzzles as a hobby as well as having an entire closet full of women’s clothes that he wears, and just,,,, the fact that he never saw an apron in his life until Yui wore one will still make me laugh. I love it. I love it so much. Idk why the other ones are escaping me but I know that there’s more little other things that he does that seem out of character but rly aren’t. His billiards and darts and chess hobbies also are very cute. Idk if this goes into this category but I love how much he trolls everyone, it’s absolutely hilarious and I can’t get enough of it. He’s so freaking funny.

5. Yeah he’s also very attractive and I’m a sapphic hoe sure I didn’t know I was a lesbian until relatively recently but wow he’s hot as hell and I know I’m never really horny on main on this blog but DAMN. I love his masochistic side and just,,,, damn dude the shit he says sometimes,,, o////o I wasn’t gonna go full simp mode till the end here cuz I know I wouldn’t love Laito nearly as much if it weren’t for the other qualities. But yes he’s v pretty like damn have you seen those eyes? Also stealing from Griddy here but,,,, bro he plays piano 👀 that’s all I gotta say

I'm loving all your ILY posts! I've also seen your comments on reddit and I enjoy reading your insightful analysis there, too. I would like to know your thoughts on Kousuke and Alyssa. Do you think they will become narrative foils? I noticed they were acting awkwardly around each other too (it kind of reminds me of how annoyed Soushi reacts around Maya) and she seems to have a crush on him 👀 I think she'll be used to contrast how he's still capable of redemption. 1/?

I mean Yui groomed them both successfully. They have shown to emulate her behavior, value their reputation over other people's feelings, and refuse to take accountability for their actions against Shin Ae and Nol. But unlike Kousuke, Alyssa has shown no hint of remorse or even guilt. 2/?

Waaahh thank you so much, anon! Isn't it silly that I still go :O when I realize people actually enjoy what I have to say? I started yelling into the void on tumblr because I got worried I was too active on reddit and I was possibly annoying people lmaooooo so I'm actually really glad you're able to find me on both platforms! It means a lot that I'm not just yelling into a total void.

If you don't mind, I'm breaking your ask down into two parts, because I might leave somethin off/this will get too long if I keep it all in one lol. BUT you bring up things I love to think about!!!!! So!!!!!

I think we are deliberately kept in the dark about Alyssa - whether it's to subvert the scheming girl trope, I'm not sure, but there's a lot of things we don't know about her and that's definitely on purpose. She's a character who probably won't be revealed more to us for a while yet, too, which is frustrating if only because I want to know everything NOW, but it does serve to make her more interesting.

Alyssa's interest in Kousuke is so obvious I can't believe I never noticed it in my original reads. I've seen this brushed off as "She just admires him" and I'm just like... she actually sulked for a moment about Kousuke leaving! Meanwhile she was straight up all but telling Nol she'll help him pack his bags lmao.

I feel like the cast of her shadow is deliberate, too, but look at that face. Sulking.

Compare with

There's room to argue that we can't see Alyssa's face when she first tells him she won't stop him, but she kind of makes it abundantly clear that Nol being away doesn't really affect her. And, I mean, look at how their relationship is conducted. She's bragged to Meg that she and Nol are so casual and cool and easy breezy.

(I guess that means there ALSO is room to argue that Alyssa is putting on a front and just saying this to make sure people think her relationship is great, but the only People who know is Meg. And as a people pleaser, if Alyssa felt uncomfortable with the casual nature of her relationship with Nol, wouldn't she actually do more to make the relationship more of what she wants? Notably during the conversation on the balcony, she basically tells Nol this isn't really her dream relationship, which leads to the admission that they are together not for each other but for the benefits they each get so......)

Kousuke is the one who confuses me the most, because it strikes me as really weird that Yui has used Alyssa as leverage before against Kousuke. "You should bring a date, Kousuke, Alyssa will be there." What does this mean? What does it have to do with him and why would it entice him to bring anyone, anyway? I'm still really baffled on this one, tbh. Something that really stood out to me was during the dinner when Nol finally revealed he was planning to attend Oxford, Kousuke was distracted by his own news that the CFO position would be opening. In fact, when Nol mentions attending Oxford later, Kousuke seems to act like this is his first time hearing it.

Nol takes note of Kousuke's state of distraction before he finally starts talking about his plan.

The way quim does the dialogue and suddenly Kousuke's interest returning is.... interesting isn't it? From the moment Nol notes Kousuke's disinterest, we don't see his face again until Rand brings up Alyssa. Quim doesn't do anything without reason - in a movie, you wouldn't waste film on Kousuke's interesting returning at the mention of Alysa unless it meant anything, right?

There's so many little moments that make me go what the heck is going on here, too.

What the heck is up with THIS? Why does Kousuke deliberate SO LONG before he calls Alyssa? Like, do I think he's really so weirded out about calling his younger brother's girlfriend, considering he has one of his younger brother's own friends reporting on him and at his beck and call? You can't convince me that he's hesitant only because Alyssa is the sister of Meg. It just seems too wary.

And yes, this moment here?

It really does have the same tone as Soushi's wariness of Maya, except is Kousuke wary of Alyssa in the same way? Is he wary of her intentions? This one is so hard for me to read, because frankly, at this point it's hard to tell if Kousuke even cares about Nol as a brother or because he was forced to and he feels deep-buried remorse for the way he treated him and doesn't know how to handle it. Is he just aware of Alyssa's keen interest in him and that puts him on edge? Would he even care about Alyssa's keen interest unless she starts to get pushy?

I HONESTLY HAVE NO IDEA and frankly, it drives me nuts, so I love to discuss this and see what other people have to say. I'd never even noticed how long he deliberates before finally calling her until someone on reddit pointed that out.

lmao this so much preamble to get to the point but anyway YES they are absolutely parallels and I do wonder if they would become foils. Again, it's hard to know with Alyssa because we've been deliberately shielded so much of her personality right now and it's hard to tell what's real and what's not with her. The way that she worries about Shinae telling Nol what she did absolutely reads to me as a lack of remorse, but maybe I'm just projecting because we haven't been given much reason to like her lol. Shinae definitely makes it seem like Alyssa never actually apologized and the way Shinae just brushes it off makes me feel like there was never actual, proper closure. What Alyssa did is worse than just causing her injury: it was why she did it and how she reacted like Shinae was something dirty and how dare she even talk to her even though Shinae probably just wanted to know why Alyssa stopped being friends with her. Maybe she was even seeking closure at the time.

In the same way that Nol and Shinae are mirrors, Kousuke and Alyssa are their parallel abusers, grooming victims of Yui, those who care more about their image and reputation than anything else and have hurt others (Nol and Shinae) in their quest to fill the role. We still don't know if Alyssa dated Nol because she genuinely had a crush (doubtful so far) or because she figured out the family he's from and wanted to get closer. I try so hard to give her the benefit of the doubt but narratively we aren't privy to that yet. Also, have you noticed that Nol and Shinae both have a relationship of some kind with each others' abuser? This mirror and their parallel abusers thing is INTRICATELY woven.

That's what makes it so difficult to tell if she'll become a foil or merely a parallel that highlights what Nol and Shinae have been through. We know Kousuke will receive a redemption arc, because he's a main character, and also because I think part of subverting his trope is that he has to take responsibility for his past actions, rather than being loved in spite of the things he's done or whatever. In order for Kousuke to proper and develop further, he has to be held accountable and he has to break free of his family. Can we trust the same for Alyssa? At this point, she doesn't want to lose Nol because she knows if she loses him, she can just as easily lose her career and access to the world she's only just gained access to (and if she were to lose it all right now, it would be worse for her because she'd have all those trainee fees to pay back).

I think both Kousuke and Alyssa are likely in for a very public airing of their sins; for Kousuke it may come in the form of the expose YuJing is working on, collateral damage in the quest to take down Yui. I also think the only way to nudge Kousuke to change is that his image has to take a hit in some form. Is it that Rand isn't his father? Is it a reveal that he abused his brother? Is it whatever happened in the past that Nol got in trouble for was caused by Kousuke and he let Nol take the blame? Likewise, I think the fact that people knew Alyssa in middle school means she's not so safe, either; what if one of the girls from after school duty reveals what happened? Surely there were rumors going around school about what happened - Shinae is out of school, Alyssa is pulled from school, kids talk. Frankly, a scandal like that could ruin her career, and worse, if Nol knew what she had done, would he be able to remain shackled to her?

While I know Kousuke won't immediately take responsibility for his actions, I've always believed that such a catalyst would at least make him start thinking about it and force him to admit it. It wouldn't happen over night, but in time it will. But will Alyssa? Would she deny the allegations? Would she just shift blame, insist that it was all an accident, that it wasn't bullying like you think? (Cos look, I do believe it was an accident, but there's a way to call it an accident and still admit fault and blame; but just as easily you can call it an accident and try to shirk responsibility.)

I do love the idea of her being a foil for Kousuke, an Aesop's fable, if you will, of what happens when you barter with the devil (Yui). I'm not opposed to the scheming female character type, but I do oppose it when they take down others to raise themselves up, and if that's the way Alyssa will end up doing it, then I'll be happy to watch her fall. If she can scheme and use her connections without hurting people then hey power to ya. Unlike Alyssa, Kousuke never had a chance to evade Yui, and being able to walk away from her as an adult will be a choice he can make. Alyssa loses... so much if she breaks her deal.

I guess that's the thing about where she and Nol are in their relationship now - it's been made clear he's hanging in here because he's forced to and as a sort of act of self-sabotage, full well knowing she's here because she's taking advantage of the opportunities that "dating" him brings so... if they're in an agreement, is it okay to watch her climb right now? She leaves me conflicted and I know it's largely because she's one of the characters we know just enough to hate but so little to justify. Could it be that it all just got out of hand for her? At first she just wanted friends, was trying to find a place to belong, something good in a life that deprived her of social connections. And then comes along Yui, seducing her with ideas of fame and fortune? Was the desire to be loved and admired so strong it powered over the need to fit in with friends and she readily cast them off? Did she not anticipate what it would actually mean, thought she could have her cake and eat it, too? The way she responds to Nol's texts, and the fact that Dieter and Soushi ask him about her, means she probably isn't even in touch with them at all anymore. Idk, I really look forward to seeing their dynamic pre-idol Alyssa, because I want to know how she fit with them, what was it like?

And then, because this was supposed to be about foils lmao you have the fact that Shinae basically foils both Alyssa and Kousuke in regard to Nol, both as a person who cares about him and also as "a good friend" vs "the person I'm currently seeing" lmao like, everyone is literally set to juxtapose each other and man, I'll never get over how well this has been done lmao. Compared to Kousuke and Alyssa, Shinae is the one who accepts responsibility even when it's difficult, who knows when and how to swallow her pride (even if she's not the one who should) and I think it's why she is the one seen a the champion at Nol's side - they are the ones who care little for their images and who know how to apologize (even when they aren't the ones who should be) and that's why they are at each other's sides.

So yes, this is a very long essay response lol to essentially say: I'm still undecided if I think Alyssa will become a foil or merely remain a parallel. I would love to see her redeem herself but something tells me not all characters in this story will be redeeamable. Maybe one day we'll understand her motivation, even if we don't agree with it. I hope at the very least she makes peace with Shinae, but I get the feeling she'll be forced into it (as in, her secret gets ousted) and that's not as satisfying, but hey, if it helps Shinae then I'm for it.

A friend of mine has mused that maybe Alyssa will be the one to oust the secret herself and I'm ngl, I like that idea though it does feel kind of vindictive towards her character. Maybe accidentally spilling it to Nol would be the segue to a couple episodes from her POV though!

Gosh this was so long I'm so sorry lmao but please follow up with your thoughts and feelings, too, or if this made you think of anything or what! I think at this point in the story we've been given a lot of information but we just don't have enough of it to totally piece together what we're supposed to be seeing. I think Kousuke and Alyssa's weirdness around each other is very deliberate, though, and I'm not sure "She's Meg's sister" is enough to warrant so many panels of Kou being SO WEIRD about her, you know?
