staff member's sexy time playlist songs idk i did this on my other blog and i have fun doing this so i'm just gonna jump right in - adding 1-2 songs ig. select muses because not all of them are developed enough / would have music playing. feel free to send individual asks for more insight or songs from the boys themselves!! they would love it!!
shikkie this man probably doesn't care too much about music during sex so I'm gonna chuck it out there and say something kinda generic along the lines of leave the door open by bruno mars, anderson .paak and silk sonic locked out of heaven by bruno mars
tae il another who wouldn't care too much, but would be really picky about it when it's discussed. feminine singers would be his main choice like two weeks by fka twigs moonlight by kali uchis
binnie oooo a tough boy to choose for. probably something loud-ish, to drown out the sounds when he's in his dorm room. would it be too clique to give this brash and abrupt boy rude boy by rihanna nails by call me karizma
hwa hwa is similar nam in the sense that the songs they dance to are definitely on their sexy times playlists. and he's such a coyote ugly 2000s pop girlie fanboy for sure, so can't fight the moonlight by leann rimes automatic by red velvet
noah FUCKBOY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER RIGHT HERE. you just know he's listening to some generic shit during sex, but also throws some women singers in there; yknow, to make the ladies feel like he's a feminist too pony by ginuwine 34+35 by ariana grande
yan an let's be real he doesn't have a playlist. it's just the sound of netflix or whatever show he put on to chill in the background. probably stole noah's playlist dangerous woman by ariana grande often by the weeknd
si woo si woo definitely operates on a vibe that's closer to rock than anything. pop music during sex just weirds him out. so that definitely includes the death of peace of mind by bad omens across the bed by volumes
dae sung manager hyung just doesn't do music, I'm sorry. he doesn't care for music during sex
yeol yeol??? music during sex???? it's just ambient noise. no care for it either. more likely to just chuck on the radio if they want noise. enjoy having sex to the 5pm news broadcast or whatever
mason fuckboy number 2. noah but with more curation, yknow? still a little generic with his choices though streets by doja cat water by tyla
nam nam fancies the 80s and 90s rock to dance to, and the same goes for his music choices for sex. not only is poison his favourite song to dance to, but his number one sex song pick too poison by alice cooper closer by nine inch nails

me again! i didnt realize this was a NCT blog lol. ill put a [number] so you know its my ask! anyway what stands out to me of your reply are 2 points: 1) ty being in love with do, 2) jae being jealous of ty. why would jae be jealous of ty? there is no reason for it. in no aspect ty and do are each other's types (to pick for a relationship). physically and in personality. [1]
from do's pov: ty and jae are handsome but they are very different people. do fell and picked jae, so do falling for ty makes no sense. if that were to happen, he would have fallen for ty bc ty was there all along. but they never fell in love bc they just arent each other's types. dotae aren't into each other romantically. [2]
jae's pov: the guy he loves picked him. jae knows ty very well and knows better than us how different they are. i know jealousy is irrational but jae would need to be super out of his mind to feel threatened by ty, the guy who was always there and do could have easily fallen in love with. plus he knows ty's boyfriend so why would he feel threatened by ty? when ty is not do's type and loves someone else. [3]
from ty's pov: he was never into jaedo romantically. never fell for any of them. his type is another. he pursued his own relationship while jaedo did their thing. his songs are about this person. whiplash is about a loser struggling to admit his feelings to his loved one. im sorry to the ones that think whiplash is meant literally (it's not. this fandom is so silly). "im very soft and im a loser who has a girlish vibe"/"tell me honestly, i need better coffee more than sweet candy." [4]
whiplash actually a super romantic song of monogamous devotion which is a common theme in ty's love lyrics. "i think im falling in you, deeply and slowly, dont know what im doing, dont have a clue". his subject of desire is always referred to as his muse, model (monroe), as made for him, in many of his lyrics. it's all about one person. his boyfriend. [5]
--------------------
I'm sorry, anon, I asked for supportive evidence to your cause (Tae is gay and is in love with Ten) and got none?
The lyrics could be interpreted in different ways. It is easy to persuade oneself that your reading is the right one. Please provide something of more substance. Remarks in interviews/lives, "sus" TenTae moments, neos' reactions upon mentioning of the two, neos' making gay jokes at Tae's expense (like Woo did during the massage of Do). The ship was brought to discussion long time ago here, so I did watch TaeTen bts things to check, didn't see any signs of "passionately in love, he is the one, the muse!". That photo frame was a long time ago. And yet Taeyong is still not at a happy place.
The point of jealousy is that it's irrational. Jaehyun once took Jeno's hand off Doyoung's shoulder and later was perplexed with himself "what came over me?". Jaehyun was jealous of Taeyong for a long time, they spent a year or two sorting their shit. Why would Jae quarrel with Tae if he was sure his best friend Ten has Tae's heart instead of celebrating the couple? Why would Doyoung not sort out his beef with Ten considering it would make his beastie Tae happy?

BLOGTOBER 10/12/2022: THIRST (2009)
As I have a healthy respect for Park Chan-wook, I was embarrassed to realize that I couldn't really remember very much about this movie. Even when I've found his movies less successful emotionally or narratively speaking, they usually leave a stamp with their images and atmosphere. In my attempt to rectify the gap I had with THIRST, I remembered that there is just something about the whole movie and its motivations that eludes me. This may or may not be my fault.
Tumblr media
Park Chan-wook's adaptation of the oft-adapted Emile Zola novel Thérèse Raquin, which he wrote for the screen with frequent collaborator Jeong Seo-kyeong, concerns a Catholic priest whose drive toward martyrdom accidentally renders him a vampire. Beset by ennui, Sang-hyun (the great Song Kang-ho) subverts his suicidal impulses into a more noble-sounding act of self-sacrifice, participating in an experimental vaccine test for the treatment of an Ebola-like virus. This nearly kills him, but he suddenly revives when he receives a blood transfusion—and thereafter he learns with horror that he has to keep drinking blood to continue staving off the virus. Though Sang-hyun feeds only on comatose hospital patients to avoid terrorizing or killing anyone, this doesn't totally cure him of his guilt, and he feels worse still when his "miraculous" recovery makes him into an involuntary faith healer with a powerful psychosomatic effect on his congregation. One of his new "patients" is an old friend, Kang-woo (Shin Ha-kyun), who lives with his overbearing mother Mrs. Ra (Kim Hae-sook) and his wife, the sullen, seductive Tae-ju. Soon, Tae-ju tells Sang-hyun that she was adopted as an orphan by Mrs. Ra, and she has been treated like a slave by the family all her life—especially by the sickly and feeble-minded Kang-woo, who does all sorts of perverted, sadistic things to her. With Sang-hyun and Tae-ju's inevitable affair comes the revelation that he is a vampire, and when Tae-ju witnesses his supernatural strength, she convinces him to kill her husband. The traumatic experience of the murder weakens the couple's bond, and Sang-hyun tries to resolve this by turning Tae-ju into a vampire, but this changes her into a remorseless monster—though perhaps she already was, as it turns out Kang-woo had never victimized her at all.
Tumblr media
So that's a mouthful right there. On the one hand, THIRST is a familiar story about the moral conflicts of the vampire, wherein the monster clings to his humanity by "rescuing" his lover from her torment, and feeding in what he considers to be the least harmful way. There, Catholicism is leveraged to emphasize the guilt felt by the sinful creature that was once a man. On the other hand, we have a tawdry melodrama about a pair of selfish lovers who sacrifice another person to their forbidden affair, only to realize that their relationship can't bear the weight of their crime. There are connective threads throughout the piece: Intermittently, someone opines bluntly that suicidal ideation and ambitions of martyrdom are essentially the same. Occasionally, characters debate each other about whether an afterlife is possible, or whether death is the end. In the beginning, Sang-hyun notes the psychosomatic reactions of the faithful who beg him for healings, and then after the murder, he and Tae-ju struggle to convince themselves that the mocking apparition of Kang-woo that ruins their sex life is all in their minds. However, repetition of ideas doesn't always equal coherence, and I'm not sure all of these various philosophical musings really add up to a unified statement about anything.
Tumblr media
While these diverse themes compete for dominance, the most consistent thing about THIRST is that it is intensely repulsive. In a way, this is refreshing for the vampire subgenre, which is so often sexy and elegant. Diseased blisters, peeling fingernails, bloody vomit, gnarly acts of flagellation, the snot-smeared Kang-woo sweating and farting and humping air, and even Sang-hyun's relatively sanitary method of feeding all make for an extremely queasy two hours and thirteen minutes. Sure there's a lot of steamy sex in the middle, but somehow, this tends to make the experience all the more noxious. Maybe that's part of the director's point—that we're supposed to participate in Sang-hyun's guilt (however wavering that guilt may be), that moral revulsion is the main mood here. But still, it was hard for this viewer to determine who she is meant to care about, and what she's supposed to hope will happen to them. Sang-hyun is a pious fop and a hypocrite who condemns others for their suicidal thoughts, while using the loophole of martyrdom to justify his own self-destructive urges. Tae-ju is at once infantile, and also cold and cruel, which we forgive when we think she's being abused—though that delusion is soon dispelled, and we're just left wondering what her problem is.
Tumblr media
The Zola novel on which this is based met with disgust upon its debut, being called "putrid" by one prominent critic, so maybe all this ickiness is an appropriate way to honor the source material. Still, I'm not sure what Park Chan-wook is driving at, if THIRST isn't just a grand demonstration of abject cynicism. The moral conflict that he explores so deftly in his Vengeance trilogy seems to be replaced here by pure disillusionment. Familial love is rotten and incestuous, romantic love is just selfish ego-stroking, self-sacrifice is an act of vanity, and the body that gives and gets orgasms also produces pus, blood, mucus, and gas, while taking sustenance from the suffering of other living creatures. Sure, the movie is beautiful and inventive visually, aided by great performances from the ensemble, but I'm not sure what it ultimately wants from me. It's funny, sometimes when I see a movie that is populated by unlikable cretins and fueled by misanthropy, those things are exactly what I love about it. Other times, I can't tell what I'm supposed to get out of all that bitterness and loathing. THIRST, despite its creative pedigree, falls into the latter category.

Pretty Child (K.SJ)
Warnings : leaving a pregnant woman, partial deadbeat dad
Synopsis : her baby turns 4 and she’s come face to face with his father for the first time in almost 5 years. will he step up or walk away again? will she forgive him or hold a grudge?
Word Count : 4642
I held Joon Woo’s small hand as we walked the corridors I had walked a million times once upon a time ago. As I nervously made my way to the practice room my best friend asked to meet me at, I tried not to let my smile faulter. Joon Woo had a hop in his step, excited to see Taehyung. I tried to keep my brave face on, if not for me then for my son.
Our hands were laced together as he excitedly led me to his studio where he had been working on a song day and night. Based on the smile he wore; I could tell he had finished it and wanted my opinion. I giggled as I tried my best to keep up with the slightly taller man. “Come on!” He exclaimed as he keyed in his passcode and letting us into the decently sized room. We sat next to each other as he placed headphones on my head and pressed play.
His gorgeous voice came through the headphones and I could feel my smile widen as I listened, watching his reaction as I did. My heart sped up when I realized the song was about me; about us. When I took the headphones off and placed them on the table, I was speechless, unsure of what to say. I could tell my lack of reaction made him nervous. “Kim Seokjin you did not write a song for me.” I smiled.
“You’ve always been my muse, Y/N, you know that.” I did know that. He’s been writing songs since we were teenagers just beginning to fall in love. He asked me out with a song, confessed his love with a song. He had a song for every major part of our relationship. He always said he didn’t want to write about anything else, because I was all he could think of.
“I love you, and I love this song.” I couldn’t stop the tears that were welling up in my eyes. He reached over, cupping my face as he wiped the tears away.
“I love you and I’ll prove it for the rest of my life.”
My son and I stood in front of the door and I slowly reached to open it. I was so happy for my best friend when we found out he had officially been signed, even more so when we found out he would be joining a boy group. It’s been his dream for as long as I can remember. “Taehyung!” My son yelled as he burst into the room and ran for the man. Taehyung turned around just fast enough to bend down and take my small son into his arms. I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face at the sight. I was so entranced by how loving Taehyung was to my son that I didn’t even notice the six other boys in the room, staring. I bowed an apology.
“Taehyung asked us to meet him here, I apologize if we interrupted.” As I stood from the bow, I met eyes I didn’t think I’d ever see again. They held an emotion I couldn’t quite pinpoint as he looked between me and my son. As quick as my smile fell, it came back to life when Taehyung was walking towards me with Joon Woo in his arms.
“We were just finishing up, don’t worry.” Taehyung assured me, plopping Joon Woo beside me. “Do you want to watch our dance?” He excitedly asked Joon Woo who began jumping at the question. Taehyung let out a chuckle and asked his bandmates if they minded, to which all but Kim Seokjin said it was fine.
As Joon Woo watched in amazement, my eyes wouldn’t leave the body of the man who helped bring Joon Woo into the world. It’s been a few years since I’d seen him last, and he definitely looked different; in all the best ways possible. How was it possible for one man to possess such beauty?
“You know how busy idol life is going to be.” He began as nonchalant as possible. He sat across from me at a café not too far from the studio, one leg crossed over the other as he casually sipped his coffee. “Management agrees that it would be best if I debuted as a single man.” He took another sip as if he wasn’t breaking my heart with every word he said. We’ve been together since high school, and all those years were going down the drain. “So we should break up now.” I nodded, swallowing the sob that wanted to desperately break free. As he stood, he suddenly remembered I was the one to call him here. “Oh, you wanted to say something?”
“You took the words right out of my mouth as always, Kim Seokjin.” I lied with the prettiest smile I could muster. Without another word, he left me sitting there with a decaf coffee on the table and a sonogram in my hands.
“Taehyung that was so cool!” Joon Woo was jumping from his spot on the ground and running towards the man who’s helped me raise him from birth. Taehyung, though obviously exhausted, picked Joon Woo up once again. The other members decided to introduce themselves to the small boy wrapped in Taehyung’s arms. I watched with contentment as my son excitedly greeted each of the older men. Only one guy didn’t bother with talking to the almost 4-year-old and instead approached me.
“He’s mine, isn’t he?” He didn’t beat around the bush. Didn’t ask how I’ve been or offer any kind of greeting. That’s how he’s always been. Right from the day I met him in our first year of high school and he told me we’d be dating by the end of the year. I didn’t believe the cocky man, but he was right. He had won me over right before the end of the year and I had never regretted my decision. Up until the day I was left alone in the café, all the words I wanted to say drowned out by the chatter of everyone else around me.
“Yeah. That’s your son.” I answered him simply. No point in lying. He could do the math, and the two looked strikingly similar, as if he had absolutely none of my DNA and all of Kim Seokjin’s. I pulled the sonogram I had carried around since I got it in case I ever had the courage to face Kim Seokjin again and tell him about Joon Woo. “I was going to give this to you the day you broke up with me.” I admitted as I handed him the now old image with a note on the back.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” I couldn’t tell if he was angry at me or himself, but his slight raise of voice caught the attention of the other boys who were slowly putting two and two together, all besides Taehyung who already knew.
“I didn’t want you to stay with me just because I was pregnant. You had worked so hard for your debut; I didn’t want to be the reason you were held back.” I admitted, surprised I wasn’t on the verge of tears by his very presence. I could see the wheels turning in his mind of all the different scenarios of how it would have played out had I told him that day in the café. It was something I had done everyday for the last four years.
“I-“ He looked towards our son that was occupied with the other six members of his group, who continued to look over at us. I hesitantly reached out and placed my hand on his shoulder causing his attention to be directed back to me.
“I didn’t purposely keep him from you.” I started trying to explain but he shook his head, telling me I did the right thing.
“I’m not fit or ready to be a father.” He had returned to the cold guy he was the day he broke up with me. “He seems to be doing just fine without me.” I could hear the sadness he tried to hide within those words, but I didn’t push him and just let him walk away. He’s always been good at walking away.
“Are you alright?” Taehyung asked, leaving Joon Woo with his newfound friends. I wrapped my arms around myself and nodded, the tears I was doing well at keeping in threatening to make their way out. “I’m sorry, I should have warned you.” I shook my head.
“No, you’re not the one who should apologize. It’s Jin.” I took a deep breath and put on my brave face and made my way to the others to introduce myself.
“I’m going to marry you one day.” I turned away from the stove where I was cooking for us. I smiled when I saw him leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed across his chest. When I turned to get back to cooking, he pushed himself from the frame and wrapped his arms around me, placing his chin on my shoulder. “I want to see you like this everyday for the rest of my life.” He whispered before kissing my cheek.
“I expect a grand proposal from you.” I joked, leaning into him as I brought the spoon up to his face for him to taste.
“I already have the song written, babe.” He told me before tasting the food in front of him. “God that is delicious. Just like you.” He spun me around causing a small yelp to come from my lips just before he kissed me. I smiled into the kiss, excited for this to be my life forever.
The others decided to join us for dinner, which had my son practically jumping for joy. I let the group take the lead and stayed at the back of the pack, watching the way they interacted with my son, silently wishing Jin was here getting to know his son. “I’m sure he was just surprised.” Taehyung told me, draping his arm across my shoulders.
“Don’t worry about me, Tae. I’m used to Jin. He’s a sweet guy, but he walks away when something doesn’t go his way.” Tae let out a chuckle and nodded his head.
“So he’s always been like that, huh.” I leaned into Tae and wrapped my arm around his waist.
“I have many stories about him, most of which he probably wants no one to know.”
“Oh you have to tell us!” Jimin exclaimed, turning around to walk backwards. “He always tells us how he’s always been perfect!” I couldn’t help but burst into laughter at that fact and shook my head at the fact that he really hasn’t changed at all.
The eight of us sat around a table, barely eating as we swapped stories. I found myself really bonding with the five guys I’d never met before, and it seemed like Joon Woo was as well. He seemed to grow particularly fond of Jung Hoseok, but that was to be expected. Hoseok just had such cheery energy, it seemed impossible to not be drawn to him.
“Mommy, can we invite them to my birthday?” Joon Woo asked while bouncing in his seat. We were getting ready to go so I could get him ready for bed. I blushed in embarrassment as I scooped him up in my arms.
“They’re really busy, sweetie.” As I was about to explain further, Namjoon spoke up.
“We can make time for the little guy. When’s the party?” He asked, and my heart swelled with joy. Since Joon Woo was born, it’s only been the two of us, plus Taehyung, for his birthday every year. We’d order some takeout and get a cake and spend the day inside.
“This weekend. I don’t really have anything planned.” I admitted shyly. “Usually only Taehyung joins us.”
“Well now that’s just a shame!” Jungkook exclaimed. “Leave it up to us, Y/N. We’ll plan something amazing for Joon Woo!” I could see Joon Woo getting more and more excited.
“Maybe with a big party, daddy will finally show up!” I looked at their faces as Joon Woo said that and watched as all of their hearts broke. Last year, Joon Woo started asking about his father, wondering where he was and if he would celebrate his birthday with us. I told him that his dad had to go somewhere for a while, but he’d be back one day.
“Maybe he will. But even if he doesn’t, we’ll have fun, right my sweets?” He smiled as he wrapped his small arms around my neck.
“Of course.” I quickly said goodbye to the others and left to walk back home. “Taehyung has fun friends.” Joon Woo yawned as his energy decreased from it being just the two of us. I hummed an agreement as he placed his head on my shoulder and dozed off, leaving me alone to my thoughts. If the guys planned this party, would they be able to convince Jin to show up?
“Happy birthday, love of my life.” Jin whispered, placing a kiss on my cheek as he woke me up. I smiled as I looked up at him and brought his face back down to kiss him.
“If only I could wake up like this every single day.” I giggled, sitting up and noticing the tray of food on the nightstand beside the bed. “Did you make me breakfast in bed?” I looked between him and the food, my smile widening as he placed the tray on my lap.
“Only the best for the great love of my life.” The two of us spent the morning in bed, enjoying each other’s company before getting dressed and heading out for the day Jin had planned for me. As usual, he spoiled me the best he could, telling me once he’s rich and famous, he’ll buy me everything I could ever dream of.
“As long as you’re by my side, my dreams have come true.” I told him and he placed his hands over his heart, dramatically telling me I was killing him with my cuteness.
“And to think you didn’t even want to date me first year.” He chuckled, draping his arm across my shoulders as we walked the mall.
“What can I say, you won me over, Kim Seokjin.” I stood on my tiptoes to give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Happy birthday, sweets.” I said softly as I woke up Joon Woo. “You excited for your big party?” I exclaimed and he jumped up with so much energy, it was hard to believe he had just woken up.
“I really hope daddy can make it.” I smiled, trying to hide the hope in my heart that he would show up, to at least see how happy our son is. I don’t even care if he never tells Joon Woo he’s his father, as long as he makes an appearance just at one birthday.
“Just remember to have fun regardless. Taehyung and his friends put a lot of thought in this party for you.”
“Of course! I can’t wait to see Hoseok again!”
I stood at the snack and drink table, watching Joon Woo run around and play with Hoseok and Jimin. I had a small smile on my face, knowing Joon Woo is really happy with his birthday this year; celebrating with Taehyung’s new friends. Yet, there was something missing and I could feel it. “I’m sorry, noona, we really tried.” Taehyung told me multiple times throughout the day. I shook my head each time, telling him I knew what he was like.
“I’m used to him walking away, Joon Woo isn’t. So this is for the best.” I told him as I took another sip from the punch I had made. I’m used to having my heart broken by Kim Seokjin, Joon Woo is not, and that’s something I don’t want him to get used to. “I’m really grateful at all of you doing this for Joon Woo. He’s so happy.” It was getting harder and harder to hold back my tears. And I knew Taehyung could tell as he gave me a sad smile and said he will always do anything he can for Joon Woo and I.
I’ve been grateful to Taehyung since the day I met him. We met soon after Jin broke up with me. I was a few months pregnant, struggling with loading things in my car and Taehyung without thinking came over and helped me. He had a lot of questions, mostly pertaining to Seokjin, and it was really nice to talk to someone about it. I asked to exchange numbers so I could pay him back later for his generosity. We clicked almost immediately after that and he soon became like a little brother to me. I was so excited when he told me he got signed to BigHit, though I never visited him, scared to relive the memories I tried so hard to forget.
As the day came to an end, I got ready to take an exhausted Joon Woo back home. We made our rounds to say goodbye and thank you while Taehyung loaded the gifts into my car. “See you around little man.” Hoseok said to Joon Woo while ruffing up his hair.
“Thank you again.” I said before picking Joon Woo up and carrying him out to the car where Taehyung was waiting.
“Let me know when you two make it home.” He jokingly scolded and I chuckled, playfully hitting him, telling him I will.
As soon as I got home, I got Joon Woo ready for bed and went to tuck him in. His eyes closed as soon as his head hit the pillow and I gave him a quick kiss on the forehead before quietly leaving the room as to not wake him up. Before bringing the presents inside, I sent a quick text to Taehyung. As I opened the front door to go back to my car, I was met with Seokjin standing in front of the door, obviously debating on knocking or not.
“Y/N.” He spit out, his eyes widened in shock. I crossed my arms over my chest and feigned displeasure in his presence, hoping to hide the fact that my heart was beating twice as fast as it normally does. “It’s Joon Woo’s birthday.” I nodded.
“The guys threw him a party. One you were invited to but didn’t show.” He looked down to his feet. I knew my words hurt him, but in that moment I didn’t care.
“I was scared.” He hesitantly met my eyes again. The anger and cold heartedness I saw the day of our breakup and the day we met again completely gone. “I don’t know how to be a dad.” He admitted.
“You think I knew how to be a mom before he was born? If it wasn’t for meeting Taehyung, I would have been doing this completely alone.” We both went silent, unsure of what to say as the awkward silence enveloped us. It was so weird having absolutely nothing to talk about with him. We used to be able to talk about anything and everything with each other. He was my best friend, my soulmate, my other half. He was my entire world before he left.
“Can you give this to him?” He handed me a wrapped gift I didn’t realize he was holding. I stared at it in my hands, my heart breaking all over again.
“He wants to meet you, Jin.” I said, handing the gift back to him. “Why don’t you come back tomorrow and give it to him yourself.” He looked down at the gift and back to me, trying to hand it back to me. “No, Jin. I’m not giving him a gift from his father without his father present. Joon Woo would be absolutely broken if he knew you were here, and he didn’t get to see you.”
“I told you I’m not ready to be a father, Y/N.”
“Then don’t buy him gifts. Don’t show up here with a half assed apology and a gift thinking that’s okay. All he wants is his dad, and if that’s not something you’re ready for, then leave.” I walked past him and went to carry on the task I originally opened the door for. Treating him like this hurt me more than it hurt him, but I had a son to protect. Jin broke my heart, but I wouldn’t let him break our son’s heart. “If you’re done, I’m going to bed.” I walked past him again, my arms filled with the gifts the guys bought him, and shut the door behind me, leaving Jin outside, still holding the gift he bought for Joon Woo.
The next morning, Joon Woo was in the living room playing with his new toys as I busied myself in the kitchen, making breakfast for the two of us. Every once in a while, I’d look into the living room and smile to myself as I watched him excitedly play with his toys. As I was placing our plates on the dining table, the doorbell went off. “Joon Woo, go wash your hands. Breakfast is ready.” Like the well-behaved boy he is, he listened with no issues and headed to the bathroom to wash up while I went to answer the door.
“I thought about everything you said to me last night. And you’re right. You didn’t know how to be a mom and yet you did it on your own. You never know how to be a parent; you just do it. And as I listened to the guys go on and on about Joon Woo, I realized that I want to be apart of that.” Jin immediately spit out when I opened the door. “I made a lot of mistakes, but missing out on my son’s, our son’s, life isn’t one I want to make.” I opened the door wider, allowing him to step in the house we both once called home. Not much changed since he left besides all the toys around, and our couple pictures were now replaced with pictures of Joon Woo.
“My sweets, there’s someone here that wants to meet you.” We rounded the corner from the foyer into the kitchen and Joon Woo looked up from his breakfast and saw Jin for the first time.
“Hey, buddy. Sorry, I’m a little late for your birthday, but I got you something.” Jin smiled his award-winning smile and held up the wrapped box he handed me last night. He jumped off the chair and ran over with excitement and thanked him as he ripped open the present.
“Wow! This is so cool!” Jin knelt to the ground next to Joon Woo and helped him open the plastic around the gift and showed him how to use it. I leaned against the wall and watched the two of them play together for a little bit, my heart swelling with contentment.
“Okay, I think that’s enough play time. You need to finish your breakfast.” Joon Woo quickly got up from the floor and went to wash up again before taking his seat at the table. “There’s some extra if you want to stay. If you’re busy, I understand.” Seokjin shook his head.
“I have the whole day off.” I smiled and went to dish him up as well. Joon Woo kept asking Jin questions throughout breakfast before asking the question I knew had been on his mind the second Jin walked through the door.
“Are you my daddy?” Jin almost choked on his coffee, not expecting Joon Woo to be so upfront. Jin looked over to me for help, but I just smiled and nodded, letting him know it would be okay to tell him.
“Yeah, buddy, I am.” Joon Woo smiled.
“I knew you’d come back.” Was all he said on that as he finished up his breakfast. “Did you want to see my room?” Jin smiled.
“Of course!” The two of them ran up the stairs with the same amount of excitement, causing me to chuckle to myself as I cleared the table and did the dishes.
Taehyung came at his usual time to see Joon Woo and I and was surprised to find me alone in the living room, sipping on a cup of coffee and reading a book. “Jin actually came. The two of them are upstairs.” Taehyung smiled as he took a seat on the chair across from me.
“That’s where he went when he ran out this morning.” We shared a laugh and I just nodded. “I’m guessing Joon Woo is happy to have his dad?” I just nodded again as the two of them came barreling down the stairs.
“Taehyung!” Joon Woo exclaimed, running over to him as he always does, and Taehyung happily picked him up. “My daddy came home!” Taehyung looked over to his bandmate with a wide smile.
“That’s amazing, Joon Woo!” He exclaimed, knowing firsthand how much Joon Woo wanted his dad, wondering why all the other kids he’s met had two parents and he only had one. “Have you been showing him all your cool toys?” Joon Woo nodded excitedly and went off telling him what Jin got him. “Wow! I want to see.” Taehyung set Joon Woo down and let him drag him upstairs, leaving Jin and I alone.
“Taehyung is really good with Joon Woo.” Jin said, sitting in the chair Taehyung just got up from.
“He’s been there for me since before Joon Woo was born.”
“Are you two dating? Taehyung never specified your relationship.” I smiled and shook my head, a small laugh escaping as I saw the relief flood over Jin’s face.
“He’s like a little brother to me.”
“I’m really sorry, Y/N. I should have fought harder for us.” I shook my head, telling him not to apologize.
“I don’t blame you for choosing the career you worked so hard for. Of course it hurt, but I never blamed you. I always understood you and cheered you on.” He smiled softly, but I could tell my words hurt him a little bit.
“I never stopped writing songs for you.” He chuckled, a tear falling down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away, obviously hoping I didn’t see it. “You’ve been my muse since the day I met you, and I don’t think that’s ever going to change.” It was my turn to wipe away a falling tear. He moved from the chair to kneel down in front of me, taking my hands in his. “I made the biggest mistake of my life walking away from you almost 5 years ago. A mistake I never want to make again. I want to keep my promise and show you everyday for the rest of my life that you’re the love of my life.” He dropped my hands and cupped my face, wiping away the tears that just wouldn’t stop falling. “You don’t have to accept me today, or even next month, just let me prove to you that I won’t walk away again.”
“Kim Seokjin, I swear to god if you walk away from me and Joon Woo, I will not hesitate in kicking you.” We chuckled and he shook his head.
“I wouldn’t ask for anything less, love of my life.”
“Kiss me, idiot.” He wasted no time in leaning forward and pressing his lips to mine, kissing me with all the passion he could. He put 5 years of love and passion into that kiss, and I felt it all. I trusted him with everything I am that he wouldn’t make the same mistakes.

Bad and Crazy - Episode 06 recap/musings
[Insert joke about me still being enamoured with the opening theme and its dank neon flair; skip to the end of this post for bullet points 'n' shit]
Where we left off at the end of Episode 05: Su Yeol is at the scene of Min Su's death and he's pretty sure that Gye Sik is responsible – and pinned it on Sim Sang Ho [the addict that Min Su helped get clean]. After some maudlin teasing, K heartily agrees to work with Su Yeol to take Gye Sik down, and in comes that powerhouse of a theme song...
...Only to wind down [Ha!] when K does a double-take.
K: But... Back then, why did you do that?
Su Yeol: What?
K: Why did you do that?
There's a pause. Su Yeol either doesn't know or can't remember.
Tumblr media
Flashback: Two months ago, in a private karaoke room, Bong Pil croons while the Commissioner's nephew tries to teach Su Yeol how to swing a golf club. They're all sloshed. Su Yeol turns on the charm: all the other cops are obsessed with targets, but he and his team are great cleaning up corruption [rampant guffawing], and just, gosh, the Commissioner is "like a father" to him. I'm about to re-meet my lunch. In the hall, a wasted Su Yeol gets a call from someone claiming to have evidence that Sim Sang Ho didn't kill Min Su, but Su Yeol is too pished to really bother, and heads back in to play a tambourine at Bong Pil's behest. K looks on.
Back to the present, and K lectures Su Yeol: If he'd nabbed Gye Sik then and there, none of this shit would have gotten so messy. Su Yeol never got the caller's ID, but suspects it's someone in Sim Sang Ho's narrow social circle, and the duo head over to his now-abandoned flat.
K makes a beeline for the fridge [alright, Scoob], while Su Yeol finds the kid's desk: He'd been studying to get into university. He calls out to K, who's distracted by a plushie. Aww. Su Yeol sighs that he misses Jae Seon...
...Who wakes up from a nap with a start. He asks Gyeong Tae if he's heard from Su Yeol, but his deskmate is too engrossed in surveillance photos of Jong Gu, who Jae Seon notes was notably absent from the funeral while Hui Gyeom's break-in/drug-planting took place. Gyeong Tae didn't hear any of that, and comes to the exact same conclusion out loud, in earnest, to Jae Seon's face. Ha.
Meanwhile, back at Sang Ho's place, Su Yeol laments the amount of textbooks after purposefully dust-blasting himself in the face with one. He watches K plays with a stray cat outside of the window and scolds himself for trusting in their budding partnership. K encourages him to keep looking (while he keeps playing) until he comes across a leaflet for a rehab centre.
Tumblr media
Once at said centre, the receptionist tells him that Sang Ho wasn't a patient, but that he did help return a frequently-escaping one: a guy named Woo Hyeok Jin, who's now often found at the junkyard.
Su Yeol and K try to do recon on said junkyard with the world's feeblest pair of binoculars like they're in some shit episode of Top Cat, but it's not quite working out, so K finds they have no choice but to move in. Su Yeol is wary – Gye Sik might find out, and, if Il Su's cronies are there, they'll almost certainly recognise him. There's only one possible solution:
In a bathroom that triggers my misophobia-induced OCD worse than the entirety of the laundry room from Strangers From Hell (oh, what a simpler time that series fucking was), Su Yeol trades clothing – even his sunglasses – with one of the junkyard dwellers. He's visibly...not clean, and Su Yeol struggles to stay upright from sputtering his breaths out at the smell of his swapped clothes.
Su Yeol: Hey, I'm very squeamish.
Understatement of the year. K pokes fun, saying it suits him (I guess? Kind of a Musto/tartan thing going on there) and labels him a weakling.
K: Hey - take it off. I'll do it.
Su Yeol: (gagging) OK. You do it.
(pause; hamster wheel turns in brain)
Su Yeol: You jerk. You are me, and I am you. So it means I'm doing it anyway!
K: (grins) Do you realise that just now? Idiot.
Pfft. Su Yeol has nothing to clap back with, because he's too busy heaving up his entire life into the toilet. K offers half-sympathetic back pats while poor Su Yeol makes dying Kermit sounds.
Elsewhere, Baby Prosecutor, now a lawyer, visits Hui Gyeom to take on her defence on behalf of Su Yeol. BP takes multiple unimportant phone calls from his mother while Hui Gyeom tries to help him build their case, but it doesn't look like they're getting anywhere. Still, BP assures Hui Gyeom that he's on her side.
It's nighttime at the junkyard, and Su Yeol Fellow Kids his way over to a dealer, who immediately asks to see Su Yeol's arm. Uh-oh. Those vampiric porcelain limbs are going to give him away – but, ah! No, wait! Luckily, Su Yeol's arm is riddled with tiny holes. Su Yeol conspicuously thumbs through a huge wad of pristine banknotes in front of the dealer like a fucking idiot and buys some Eyes Candy.
Tumblr media
K manifests and Su Yeol demands an explanation for the holes, to which K says that Su Yeol is never prepared. Cutaway gag/flashback: K in the car, intercut with Su Yeol, gleefully and maniacally (respectively) going stabby stabby in his arm with a needle. Ouch. Ouch. But also: lol.
Tumblr media
Su Yeol continues looking for Hyeok Jin but is thwacked in the head by some men swinging a 2x4. They clock him as a n00b and steal his drugs, but then soon strongly start to suspect he's a cop. Su Yeol jerks his head at K to do something, but K stays still. The men tell Su Yeol to shoot up to prove he's not a cop, and Su Yeol goes into stealth panic mode, gesturing wildly to K - who just tells him to take the drug, no biggie. Su Yeol is aghast, and furiously squabbles with K.
But it's done its job – to the group of men, Su Yeol is just a nutjob screaming at nothing. They don't need any more proof. K takes credit for the save. As he should. Hee.
Su Yeol finds Hyeok Jin in a bad way. He's shivering/in withdrawal, but confirms through shudders that he knows Sang Ho. Su Yeol carts him off in a shopping trolley while K uses his fighting skills to clear the way.
Oh, POOR Doctor Yum Geun Soo. He says he's leaving his office, that he has cash (he keeps saying different names of different friends each time), and smells Su Yeol before he sees him.
In Doc's office, Su Yeol introduces himself to Hyeok Jin, and asks if he was the mystery caller from two months prior. He appeals to the kid to try to clear Sang Ho's name but the kid is struggling to focus, and keeps scratching his neck. He says he didn't call, but shouts that he killed Sang Ho.
Flashback: Hyeok Jin frantically tells Il Su that Sang Ho snitched on them to the cops and that everything – including Narcotics's involvement, is about to get exposed.
Back to present day, and Hyeok Jin, through furious sobs, feels responsible, but only did what he did out of fear. He becomes increasingly agitated, and starts scratching all over, practically digging trenches in his leg. Doc calmly steps in and sedates him, explaining to Su Yeol that it was a psychotic episode, and hints that he and everyone should rest (i.e., kindly fuck off). Su Yeol takes half of that hint and tells him to stay with Hyeok Jin until he wakes up.
In the hall, K marvels at Su Yeol's firm resolve. K: "He's so charismatic." Aww.
At the station, both Gyeong Tae and Jae Seon are working late. Gyeong Tae eyes Jae Seon's product placement sandwich (Quiznos), and reminisces about how, as a kid, he once dreamed of trying a sandwich like that. Really. Jae Seon is touched/guilted/conned and, with a sigh, exchanges his soft and fresh product placement for Gyeong Tae's crappy instant noodles. Jae Seon: "This is cold". Pfft. I'll say.
Tumblr media
After each get some noms in them, they both, finally (instead of individually), combine their mind-sets to crack a detail in the case – Jong Gu's car probably has evidence to support his role in Hui Gyeom's break-in/framing. I love seeing these two work together.
In the interrogation room, Il Su insists that Hui Gyeom and Jong Su were the ones calling the shots, and that they threatened to kill him. But who's questioning him? It's Gye Sik and Chang Gi, who are using this as a practice run. Gye Sik tells Il Su to emphasise Hui Gyeom's "role" when he goes up before the prosecutors. Il Su tells Gye Sik that Su Yeol showed up at the junkyard and took Hyeok Jin. Both cops connect the dots to Min Su's case, and a quietly enraged Gye Sik threatens Il Su – unless he leverages his connections with some of the women at the detention centre...
Tumblr media
...The same detention centre where Hui Gyeom is working in the laundry room. Without warning, a group of women arrive, lock her in with them and try to intimidate her with a razor to her neck. But they stop short of killing her, and leave without saying a word to her as she trembles on the floor, a slight cut on her neck.
Su Yeol bursts into Gye Sik's office and demands a chat. Gye Sik obliges; Su Yeol turns off his phone and asks why he's targeting Hui Gyeom. Gye Sik feigns ignorance as well as making an effort to get her out, but Su Yeol isn't buying it:
Su Yeol: Look, Captain Kim. Hui Gyeom... She still admires you. She's counting on you.
Gye Sik nods with faux gravity, but asks in a low voice why he's jeopardising their partnership by digging around Min Su's case again. He rightly susses out Su Yeol's plan to take him down with it, but that his argy-bargy presence here meant that he must have hit a dead end with Hyeok Jin.
Gye Sik: Superintendent Ryu Su Yeol: From now on, if you suddenly think of something you want to do, don't do it, whatever it may be. If you take one step closer to me, I'll have to do the same. Then, if we end up bumping into each other... someone close to you, who has nothing to do with this, could get hurt or die.
Gye Sik is about to send Su Yeol off with a smile when Su Yeol reveals that he was right about Min Su's case all along, which threatens to burst a vein in Gye Sik's forehead. Stalemate.
On his way out, Su Yeol checks in via phone with the Doc on Hyeok Jin's condition, but the kid is still asleep, despite Doc's continuous Febreezing.
Elsewhere, Jae Seon and Gyeong Tae arrive at the junkyard to search Jong Gu's car. They find it pretty easily, but its windows are smashed in and it smells bad (wait, why? did it shit itself?). They don't get far before a junkyard resident brains Jae Seon and snatches his wallet, but Gyeong Tae gives chase. Jae Seon tries to tell him his wallet's not worth the danger, but the kid nabs the thief almost instantly - coming back with Hui Gyeom's gold sports medal. Ha. The thief says he found it in Jong Gu's car, and the cop duo state that's enough to prove that Jong Gu broke into Hui Gyeom's place [is it?].
Jae Seon asks the thief to give his wallet back, but none of the three know where the hell it is. A short distance away, a doggo makes off with said wallet. Pfft.
Su Yeol waits alone outside the detention centre (I guess it wasn't a jail?). K is practicing his love confession lines, but Su Yeol says there's no way K and Hui Gyeom can be together because she hates him (Su Yeol). They bicker, but in a cute way, ending in a high-five instead of bloody teeth this time.
Hui Gyeom is now free; she smiles and waves a hello, but, since it's from K's POV, it's exaggerated: as K fawns over her, Su Yeol and Hui Gyeom actually just exchange listless waves and anti-smiles. Su Yeol remarks how heavy her bag is, to which Hui Gyeom demonstrates that it's full of letters... from Su Yeol. K shyly watches from behind a hedge [she can't see you, dipshit], while Su Yeol just wants to die. Hui Gyeom accuses Su Yeol of sending the letters as a prank, but Su Yeol mumbles that no, it was genuine worry.
In the car, Su Yeol offers to get tofu (as is the national post-jail-release tradition), but Hui Gyeom says she'd rather figure out who ordered the intimidation play in the laundry room. Su Yeol tries to talk tofu again.
Hui Gyeom: Were you trying to change the subject? You're acting like you know something.
Su Yeol: Can't you just pretend you didn't notice it and just let it go?
That seems deja-vu. Hui Gyeom pushes further and, a short while later, they stop in a park and he tells her everything he knows about Gye Sik, Jong Gu and Chang Gi, as far back as Min Su's case.
Back at the doc's office, Hyeok Jin wakes up, calmer.
Su Yeol sees a quiet Hui Gyeom to her door, then takes a call from the doc - Hyeok Jin's gone. [Doc, you had one job!] He's about to speed over there when he gets a call from Hyeok Jin himself, asking if they can really clear Sang Ho's name if they find Su Yeol's mystery caller. Su Yeol's getting bad vibes, and asks to meet in person, but Hyeok Jin insists he can find the guy and hangs up.
Hyeok Jin confronts said mystery caller - it's Chang Gi.
Later, Su Yeol wades through a moat of cop cars to find Hyeok Jin's body on a riverbank. He ODed. Oh, man. But Su Yeol pushes back: he was so strung out when he found him and had no money to buy anything, so it doesn't add up. But the cop he speaks to just seems disinterested.
At home, Hui Gyeom looks over the transport crash scene photos, then her team's own headshots in time with Su Yeol's v/o with their names, just in case you've forgotten who all these people are [although there really aren't that many left now].
Gye Sik's taking practice shots at a firing range, and tells a worried Chang Gi not to, er, worry about Hui Gyeom's release. They both seem relieved that Hyeok Jin overdosed, but Gye Sik wants to know why Su Yeol took him in the first place. He hands Chang Gi his target sheet. It's all headshots. Every single one.
Tumblr media
A rattled Chang Gi has a mini flashback: He drove Hyeok Jin out to the riverbank, threatening him with both of their deaths if he ever sees him again. After he leaves [How is this plausibly part of Chang Gi's flashback?] Angel of Death Andrei pulls up.
At Eyes Candy HQ, Andrei causally tells Boss Yong that Hyeok Jin remained silent even in his final moments, but that Chang Gi still feels like a loose end. Yong tells him, in English, to "keep his eyes on".
Outside the station, Su Yeol thinks back to his last conversation with Hyeok Jin about proving Sang Ho's innocence. After nightfall, he doorstops Chang Gi, asking him why he killed Hyeok Jin and if he was his mystery caller. Chang Gi denies everything, but Su Yeol prods, guessing that he's scared of Gye Sik, and asks him to make a choice: give him the evidence and turn himself in, or run back to Gye Sik. Chang Gi is agitated, nervous, and grabs Su Yeol by the collar.
Chang Gi: Why are you doing all this now? Why didn't you take me seriously when I called you? You already picked your side, so stick with it! What are you going to do now?
(pause)
Su Yeol: I'm tired of it. I'm sick of living a life full of regrets.
(beat)
Su Yeol: Aren't you sick of it, too?
Su Yeol walks away, leaving Chang Gi in stunned silence.
The next day, Gye Sik exits his usual restaurant to find Hui Gyeom waiting for him. He snaps on a smile as they start to chit-chat, but Hui Gyeom outright accuses her captain of orchestrating this entire shitstorm she's in, all the way back to Min Su. This is bold. I'm unsure if it's wise. Or safe.
Gye Sik admits nothing, but also admits everything by just telling Hui Gyeom: "Youre smart." [What an awful perversion of a sunbae/hoobae relationship.] She asks him why he's become this kind of cop, to which he waxes lyrical about low salary and the risks of the job. As he leaves, she threatens him with arrest upon their next meeting.
Chang Gi drowns his sorrows at a bar. He looks at the bottle: a gift from Min Su. Time for a flashback: Min Su throwing him an envelope of cash [not in the Su Yeol way] on the counter of the same bar, despite Chang Gi's protests. And it's here we get some insight into how kindly and well-loved Min Su was: The money was meant to go towards his son's uni fees, but the little bugger ended up getting a full-ride scholarship, so Min Su can spare the funds.
Elsewhere, Su Yeol is the only mourner at Hyeok Jin's cremation. In an echo of Hyeok Jin's earlier call, a trembling Chang Gi calls Su Yeol, asking if he really can take down Gye Sik. Su Yeol says he'll do it no matter what, and the pair agree to meet at Min Su's cinerarium [his urn's resting place].
But Chang Gi's being followed – and photographed – by Andrei.
Boss Yong gives Gye Sik a heads-up about Chang Gi – his nighttime run-in with Su Yeol got captured on film – and says this doesn't bode well for mutual trust. She sends him the video.
Hui Gyeom thinks back to a conversation with the nerdy tech guy about the drugs coming from Russia – specifically from Korean communities there. In doing some online digging, she unearths a photo of a charity event that includes both Yong and Andrei.
She's interrupted by a cute tiny human who's new to the neighbourhood and just wants to say hello with some rice cakes. Unfortunately, that's bullshit: Tt's a ruse to get her to open the door so some thugs can brutalise her. And the kid? The kid is smiling, repeat she is smiling, no grinning, she is hecking grinning from ear to ear while this is happening. What the actual fuck.
Gye Sik surprises Chang Gi at the cinerarium, and offers some chillingly disingenuous small talk before telling him to hand over whatever evidence he'd planned to give to Su Yeol. Chang Gi bolts, but Gye Sik chases him. Su Yeol arrives just in time to try to catch up.
Gye Sik corners Chang Gi in a dead end and fires his gun into the air. Chang Gi begs to be spared, and hands over his phone – which has clear video of Gye Sik murdering Min Su.
Chang Gi: Please forgive me this once!
Gye Sik: Chang Gi. Was there a time when I forgave someone easily?
Gye Sik beats Chang Gi, but Su Yeol tackles him, bragging that he didn't come here alone, gesturing to K, who's ready to fight! This, of course, goes down like a lead balloon. Gye Sik looks over. Nobody's there. K is a figment, you plum.
K/Su Yeol downs Gye Sik with a few swift punches, and takes the phone off him. But Gye Sik has one last threat: that, by the time Su Yeol carts him off to the station, Hui Gyeom will be dead.
Su Yeol is stunned, and Chang Gi knocks him to the ground, yelling that he shouldn't have started something he couldn't finish. He has a point. He smashes the phone. Gye Sik tells Su Yeol to go to the junkyard.
Su Yeol races there to find her unconscious in the back of an open truck that's filling up with briquette smoke. Instead of immediately carrying her out, he stays there, his back to the door, trying to wake her up – and someone shuts the doors on them both. FFS. He tries in vain to kick his way out as the truck driver is instructed by Gye Sik not to make any mistakes.
Inside the now-moving truck, Su Yeol tries again to kick the door open, to put out the smoke, to revive Hui Gyeom, but he's rapidly losing consciousness. A now-manifested K is hurling himself at the doors and gets Su Yeol to kick in tandem. The noise wakes Hui Gyeom, and K links arms with the pair to, eventually, shift the lock open – and the episode ends with the two literally hanging off the handles as the truck speeds along the highway.
-----------
We're now at the series halfway point, and I guess we're at the character development turnstiles of shifting loyalties, betrayals and alliances. A bit more humour in this episode but there's a greater focus on the central corruption plotline rather than the mystery/origins of Su Yeol's fractured psyche.
Speaking of Su Yeol: If he and Hui Gyeom are going to get back together, I'm not seeing signs of it at all. Hui Gyeom's repeatedly laying down boundaries, and Su Yeol is either a very good actor or is just genuinely impartial about her now. There's more narrative work that needs to be in play before we can plausibly head down this road. Unless they go down the trauma-bonding route, which isn't going to be healthy for either of them.
And, speaking of Hui Gyeom: I'm a bit worried that Hui Gyeom is simultaneously being used a plot device to keep the corruption story moving, but also being fridged/damsel-in-distressed for Su Yeol and Gye Sik's man pains. But we'll see.
Stray thoughts:
Min Su's death site looks suitably Brutalist in its architecture.
I didn't note it in the last recap, but Gye Sik calling Min Su "Hyung" as he sent him to his death was Lion King levels of cold.
K shakes hands like a li'l kid. I think we're all thinking he's either borne of his childhood or representative of it.
Bong Pil is really into that stingray dance.
Su Yeol being stunned by how many books Sang Ho had; note that Bong Pil told us a few episodes back that Su Yeol's education stopped at a high school level, but he remarks that he "feels like he's going back to college".
Small details of improved self-care in poor Sim Sang Ho's home: The diet plan/nutritional infographics on the fridge, the myriad of potted plants and, of course, the piles of university materials. Such a pity.
Sang Ho being so much of a rock to Hyeok Jin saving that, now that Sang Ho's gone, so is Hyeok Jin's recovery path, since he's notably absent from the rehab centre and now in the junkyard, left, forgotten.
Baby Prosecutor looks demonstrably smitten with Hui Gyeom.
I know nothing of substance abuse, but were those holes K poked in Su Yeol's arm meant to be track marks? I... don't think they're meant to look that fresh. At least not all of them.
K taking down the junkyard guys while Su Yeol does a little cheerleader kick in the background.
WHAT ARE THE DOCTOR'S SECRET "BRING LOTS OF MONEY" PLANS? At this point, I'm wondering if Choi Kwang Je is just improvising one long entire bit.
Also: Doc is fast-becoming one of my favourite characters.
I didn't think PPP could get this emotional.
Su Yeol is repeatedly out of his depth when going toe-to-toe with Gye Sik. Working on his own (even with K) isn't good for this – it's noble idiocy in cop-thriller form.
When Su Yeol tries to be intimidating, it just... doesn't land – not when he was trying it with Detective Do (at Gyeong Tae's hospital bedside), and not here, either.
Hui Gyeom's gold medal from the National Sports Festival was in what?
I don't know if "junkyard" and "junkie" are meant to be some kind of pun, especially as I'd have thought we'd moved past that terminology, but I'm noting it anyway.
Jae Seon celebrating the medal retrieval and echoing Su Yeol's appraisal of Gyeong Tae as a lucky charm – that was sweet.
Su Yeol not taking credit for finding Hui Gyeom's medal either says how little decency I expect from Su Yeol or how much he's actually bettered.
Lui Hwa Ryong as Gye Sik is so good at being so fatherly-seeming in one breath and unnervingly intimidating the next.
On the subject of suits: Su Yeol's proper working that high-breasted slate-grey blazer.
Hui Gyeom to Gye Sik, even after she knows everything: "Sorry for not coming to see you right away." And citing Cinnamon Bun Rookie's contribution to that briefing on Do's drug supply chain.
Boss Yong's pretty good at multitasking while on the phone.
I would never fall for the kid ploy because children are unpredictable and terrifying to me.
Where's Dong Yeol? Two episodes ago Mama Ryu said she couldn't get in touch with him. Gye Sik says he left him some money so I guess that implies he's OK?

reviewing may’s comebacks (in june, because i have shit to do)
There were a lot of comebacks this month. I guess it's summer now? No idea, there's no summer in my country. The girl groups have started coming back in full force but are not impressing. The boy groups seemed to mostly go the groovy route and now I need an adjective other than 'groovy' to describe songs.
Not The End, Highlight
I'm so glad it's not a ballad. It's not bad.
You are so beautiful, SGO
Everyday I'm grateful for the retro trend and this is a great representation.
Gray Area, Hi Cutie
At some sections I like this song (the verses and the chorus) and at others I dislike it (the trap breakdown, the middle of the chorus). I complained about MAJORS' company having no money previously but Hi Cutie's company is bankrupt. Poor nugus.
Dreamcatcher and GWSN have far superior 'Red Suns' but this song is okay and I'm happy the girls look so happy to have some work (and hopefully some money) at last.
Today, CITI
A nice midtempo song. And no, I did not hear it first from a drama OST.
Make Up Your Mind, AILEE
Sounds like a Beyonce-type song.
MALO, SHAX
Apparently this is a drama OST (Imitation, to be specific. It's based on a webtoon). Basic boy group song but it sounds like it's from the 2010s or something, and that's a compliment.
Hot Sauce, NCT Dream
Initially: Um...at least Renjun looks good? Honestly I don't know what to say about this song. NCT is a group I stan so this will definitely grow on me but...is this really not an advertisement for hot sauce? Also the set resembles the set for SHINee's Atlantis in my opinion. Now: The shouting is annoying and unnecessary. Love Chenle's voice in this; it provides a nice contrast to Haechan and Renjun. Someone said the chanting should've been left to the rappers and I fully agree. Don't know about Jisung and Jaemin but Jeno and Mark would be a good fit with a chant. In my opinion the dance break isn't really needed but is it NCT without a dance break? Also, wtf are they wearing around their necks? Someone should inform the SM stylists that less is really more.
DUN DUN DANCE, OH MY GIRL
It's light and pleasant but if this song was a meal it would be a tiny appetizer that tastes good but doesn't satiate you.
WHATEVER, KEEMBO
I didn't think I'd like it at first but this is groovy and makes me want to dance while doing my chores.
Always, VAV
Song for the fans but if you need a VAV song to listen to I recommend Gorgeous.
Hurt, Baekhyun & Seomoontak
Hasn't Baekhyun been shipped off to the army yet? Anyway, love how dramatic this is.
Waiting for Victor, 015B ft. Dawon
Another great retro song! Also the singer is cute and her hair is cute as well. She reminds me of Chuu a little.
Uncertainty Principle, 015B ft. Dawon
I prefer their other song, but this one is retro as well and it's great.
(Kang Hyeyeon)
Trot that's kind of subdued but still danceable.
Badly, SURA
Loved it from the first second.
BLACK MIRROR, ONEUS
Then: Is it good enough to make up for No Diggity? I don't know about that, but this song is groovy and I'm somewhat okay with it. Doesn't have much replay value for me though. Now: Eh, it's basic groovy boy group song but I won't skip if it comes on.
Breathe Again, BLITZERS
Another boy group with a somewhat questionable name. This song is pretty good as a debut and it's somewhat memorable. I wonder if my rating increeased because of the guitars? District 9 was the same for me, but right now it doesn't interest me. I think this song will stay for a good while on my playlist though. I like the anthemic vocals in the chorus and this song needed more of that.
EASY, WJSN THE BLACK
The girls looked good but the storyline kept getting interrupted by shots of the girls. Yes, we know they're all visuals but I'd be more interested if there was actual action and plot. The song is good objectively but doesn't really interest me. Who knows? Maybe a few more listens will change my mind.
Outerspace (ft. Loco), Kang Daniel
Groovy and better than his last two releases.
Giant, Yuqi
So nice to hear Yuqi's voice on its own. The song was fine until the chorus crushed all my love for it.
Glass of Tears, HONG JA
Appropriately dramatic for a song named 'glass of tears'. It's good and if you like trot you'll like this one.
Taste of Life, Yang Ji Eun
What do you call this? Folk trot? Whatever it's called, it's good.
LOOK AT ME, ICU
OK.
WE GO, fromis_9
It sounds like the token girl group summer song. I don't dislike it, but nothing about this song stands out to me. Honestly with a mini-album called '9Way Ticket' I expected more, because it reminds me of Nine Muses' Ticket everytime I see it. The b-side 'Airplane Mode' is pretty good though and the other one, 'Promise' is a slow song but I don't really mind it, it's fine as background music.
Next Level, aespa
Umm...what is SM's plan for these girls? How can a rookie group from the big 3 have only 3 songs? And only one is an original? The song is not the best thing ever and SM surely can do better but at least it wasn't as bad as M.A.F.I.A. aespa deserves more than this.
Ring Ring, ROCKET PUNCH
Finally after Bim Bam Bum these girls have a title track I enjoy. You can't go wrong with covering Take On Me, can you? It's no Platonic Love or Sea of Moonlight, and it certainly could have done without the rubbish trap section but it's a bop anyway. Meanwhile, the b-side Ride is great and I hope they promote it. This song would be more enjoyable if their voices weren't so shrill in the chorus. High notes aren't a necessity for good songs.
Advice, Taemin
Not the best of Taemin but it's good. I love the fast tempo of the piano and the way it drives everything. Taemin's performance also elevates this song and I'm grateful he's leaving us with a good song before going on his two-year vacation.
RUB-A-DUM, TRI.BE
They're really going all out with this 'tribe' thing, aren't they? It sounds very Middle Eastern to my ears at times, sometimes it sounds African-ish and the other times it is just typical trap kpop. DOOM DOOM TA was better and more fun. At least they got the catchy catchphrase right. Blackpink in your area who? Tri-bee da loca! The b-side 'LORO' is not much fun either. The only difference is it's Latin-influenced.
Shadow, Dreamcatcher
Typical Dreamcatcher song slowed down by a lot. It's not bad, plus it's nice to hear Dami sing. Also what is it with Korea and zombies? With the MV the song sounds a lot better but the MV distracts me. Shouldn't zombies be mindless? How do they use tools and know martial arts? Or is it just my eyes? And can that tiny gun protect anybody? Are you sure that's not a toy?
The beginning of spring, E'LAST U
Not horrible but not for me either.
Oh MAMA, BLING BLING
One of the few new ggs in a while with unfortunate names. They've clearly upgraded in terms of styling and MV budget, but their song quality is no different.
Let Me Know, PIXY
Sonically it sounds nothing like their dark concept. Actually it does sound like a dark concept, if done by a boy group. It's not bad but it's not good. The industrial-like sounds in the back are interesting but the whole song is not.
Son of Beast, TO1
TOO rebrands as TO1 with this song. It's groovy.
HAPPEN, Heize
For the first time I like a Heize song. The MV is interesting too, the story was cliche but I liked the visuals and aesthetics.
FEVER, ENHYPEN
Rhis song was from the [BORDER: CARNIVAL] mini. I listened to that mini but I remember not really liking any of the b-sides except the outro and the intro, so this is a surprise.
My Flower, Kim Jaehwan
Nice upbeat song with guitars all over it. I like it.
Corazon Perdido, Yesung (Super Junior)
Initially I wasn't going to review this because I didn't even review the title track but the final moments of this song are beautiful and it deserves a mention.
Butter, BTS
The song is smooth as its title. The MV is fine except for that ARMY thing; I cringed so hard.
Bonnie and Clyde, Yuqi
Better than the other one.
Ride, ROCKET PUNCH
This is so great and I'm glad it got its own video, even if it was just a dance video glorified as a 'Special Stage'. Now if only I could stop chuckling whenever I hear "looks rike a lainbow".
Rush Hour, GAHO
Love it, especially the guitar strumming moments and the chorus when the electric guitar comes in.
GEMINI, AB6IX
Love how the vocals don't distract from the great instrumental.
FIRST, EVERGLOW
In a comment section someone said La Di Da was a fluke and I kind of agree. Everglow returns to their usual style (chanty chorus + catchy riff repeated over and over) and this song is in the same vein as Adios. I like the chorus but the rest of the song is hard to recall. Siyeon, Aisha and Yiren are the only ones who actually look good and EU needs more lines and her blonde hair back. Also why does kpop think that moving the camera around a lot creates the illusion of motion? All it does is make me dizzy.
Like It Hot, GWSN
Sometimes I like GWSN title tracks, and sometimes I don't. I don't think much of this song, but their album is great.
Je T'aime, Joy
I love you Joy but this is boring. If it was meant to be a lullaby then SM succeeded.
Burned All Black, Kim Jaehwan
His other song is a ballad which is somewhat pleasant. Well, it was until it slowed down in the first chorus.
Purple, woo!ah!
Still not one song from woo!ah! I like.
GGOMA, Tae Ho (IMFACT) and Choi Ye Geun
Loved Choi Ye Geun's Scarecrow so I was happy to see her again. The song is groovy but the chorus sounds somewhat...empty? Love the scat at the end, should've been longer. This is also a great example of a bright boy group song. See? Upbeat and bright boy group concepts don't have to be childish.
DIAMOND, Sparkling
Another Imitation OST. I honestly doubt that there are actual kpop songs as bad as this.
7days Tension, Weeekly
Ad song. Bright and the chorus is nice.
0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You), TXT feat. Seori
The angsty opening line caught my attention, then the verse after it dropped the energy. It picked up again in the chorus and pre-chorus, thankfully. It's very much pop rock, except there are no guitars in this. Doesn't stop the song from being good though.
Hello, Joy
I love Joy's voice as always but this song doesn't do much for me even though it's upbeat. A few more listens might change my mind.
Call Me, Omega III
Another Imitation OST. Doesn't do much for me, just like all the Imitation MVs. At least let us understand what your drama is about. Instead we get these random shots of what idols are supposed to be like? I don't know much about idol life but it's obvious these girls would be called nugus in real life, and I honestly doubt nugus have such nice living conditions.
No Answer, LA LIMA
Jiyeon from T-Ara is on this one. This and MALO are my favourites from the Imitation OST so far. The song is nice with a sleek catwalk vibe to it but like the rest the MV is boring.
Show Me, Tea Party
Are these the Omega III girls? Not sure but I think so. MV still boring, song doesn't interest me.
Let me go!, The Volunteers
Great rock song, I just wonder why it's all in English (I'm not complaining).

December Wrap Up
Wow. It has been a whole twelve months since we have started this blog and now we are on the final, official post of the year! A mega-post compiling the top songs of the past year, as well as official departures and disbandments of groups from 2019, will be up on our main blog @kpopsunbae (make sure to go and follow us there for more content, although it will be quite a bit different than what we put on this blog).
As some of you may know, this blog (as well as the previous one, @kpopotd) are project blogs that end once the year is done. This means that while we will no longer post on this blog it will remain as an archive. We will however be back with a third blog in the future as a continuation of this blog (it will cover 2016 and onwards!). This does not mean that we will go completely off grid once 2019 is done though!
This coming year of 2020 has a lot in store for us, your K-Pop Sunbaes! We currently have a website to overhaul, an Instagram to properly launch, and of course we will continue releasing podcast episodes! Remember to follow us on Twitter too, our handle there is @kpopsunbaes (updates will be on there and you can interact with us too!).
On a final note, we are so appreciative for the love that you all have given this blog over the past year. It has been such a fun experience and the three of us have had a blast working together on the blog, having meetings, and eventually completing just under 900 posts. We hope you will continue to support and follow us in our upcoming endeavors. We wish you all a very Happy New Year!

[ A U T O P L A Y ]
I set music playlist on my primary muses’ blog, @dispatch-capt and @lacrimosa-suit . I need that to help me building a muse by listening to music whenever I reply a thread. It’s set on autoplay, turn it off if it bothered you. I didn’t type the song title and the band/artist name but putting a snippet of the lyrics in marquee text.
Tumblr media
Do Kang Woo’s “Psycho Detective” Tracklist (songs for dissociative disorders who’s fighting his illness):
I need a savior. Save me if I became my Demon, my worst enemy.
Ever since I could remember, everything inside of me just wanted to fit in.  If I told you what I was, would you turn your back on me?
So many sleepless nights, I’m still fighting to find myself. Don’t throw me away.
Who am I supposed to be? For years, this is all I’ve known, this has had my heart. I’m scared to lose myself.
I really can’t remember if I’m insane or insomniac, but the hope of mornings make me worth the fight.
You give me that look, should I give up? I’m takin’ those pills, my demon is tamed.
I can't control myself, don't know who I've been. Every time I scream, no one hears me. But I won’t be paralyzed.
Tell me, Baby, they call I’m crazy for saying I’ll fight until there is no more.
Trust me now, break me down, sometimes I’m crazy but I’ll find the answer.
Looking down the deepest well, I was tryin’ not to fall for so long, now I’m gonna get out.
Children so traumatized that they do not bond with other people. The stranger's gonna come. And my spirit weakens but I won't back down. I'll face down all my enemies
My enemy is watching me bleed but I’m not dead yet. Watch me burn. My enemy, I’ll watch you bleed.
You see me as I am, the only that trusts me and believes me.
Tumblr media
Mo Tae Goo’s “Psycho Killer” Tracklist (song for psychopathy disorders who’s incurable):
Come, little children, time to play murdering beauty and passion.
You’ll never know what hit you, I’m gonna make you suffer.
Who am I to disagree? I wanna use you and abuse you.
Toxic. There’s no escape, I can’t wait, I need a hit.
Baby, I’m a sociopath, a sweet serial killer
Clever devil, bones of metal, you torture saints with a single glance.
You’ve got no place to hide. One miss-step, you’re mine.
They call it creeping, I say loving, it’s the only way for me
Crushing every bit of bones, welcome to my cage.
Show me your tears, I need your fear just to feel alive.
Welcome to my world of fun and watch ‘em run.
I would kill again to keep from doing time, I got blood on my hands.
Man or monster? In those same hands is the power to kill.
If you’re curious what songs they are, just listen to it on my blogs I linked above.

i'm interested in making my muse a former member of sneeze, do i need to make them a soloist as i also plan on having them be an idol-actor. what are some career suggestions you'd suggest for the former main vocalist? do i include that he's a sneeze member in my app? sorry for all the questions, thank you vv much!!
if you’d like them to be an idol-actor and a former member of sneeze, soloist sounds like it would be the best option. if you’re asking about staff positions, and don’t mind not going the idol-actor route, i would suggest to make him an song-writer, arranger, composer, or instructor/trainer for vocals or songwriting. if you’re asking about claim suggestions, i’d suggest lee hong gi, min kyung hoon, jung yong hwa, kim bum soo, kim tae woo, chen, or maybe even crush or baekhyun could work as options. since we don’t use existing discographies for our muses, your claim is more of a general inspiration, so if it doesn’t match up exactly with what kind of career you’d like your muse to have, that’s okay.
and yes !! you would include that he was part of sneeze + his former positions in your app. if you can’t fit in an askbox submission, please send it through our submit, or send the positions as a separate askbox question ( just make sure it’s clear that it’s for your muse. )

Best Hit Time Travel Musings
I’ve been thinking about this too much, so bear with me gang…
What are the character and story implication if we are to say–as the drama is leading us to believe–that Hyun Jae as he exists in 2017 and Hyun Jae as he exists in 1993 are have independent, concurrent agency? That is to say, what does it mean for our characters if the two Hyun Jaes are, in fact, two different people?
Objects in Out Hyun Jae’s possession still seem to have some kind of connection to the past. The beeper that still receives beeps. The notebook that exists in two places at once, and changes as Hyun Jae writes in it. In our most recent episode, as Hyun Jae is laying out his theory about the temporal anomaly their all living in for Kwang Jae, he specifically states that there are two Hyun Jae’s. After Our Hyun Jae’s disappearance, Hyun Jae ‘93 has continued to take actions that Kwang Jae and others remember. He hid the money. He fought with Soon Tae. He eventually entered a secret relationship with Bo Hee. All actions which Our Hyun Jae doesn’t remember and which seem to be becoming increasingly out of character the longer he spends in 2017. The gulf between the two versions of Hyun Jae is growing.
I’m curious what this means for our character arcs.
First of all, it raises questions about how morally culpable Our Hyun Jae can be held for actions his 1993 self is taking. For throwing everyone’s lives into chaos and abandoning his child (if that is in fact what happened.) Kwang Jae and Soon Tae clearly resent him quite a bit. Bo Hee is extremely hung up on him. All of this for actions which (for the most part) Our Hyun Jae doesn’t even remember. The primary exception being his decision to take the money and leave the company, although he disappeared right before the consequences of those actions began to unfold.
The other issue it raises (and by far probably the more important for the plot) is whether it is possible for Our Hyun Jae to be Ji Hoon’s biological father without ever actually fathering him with Bo Hee.
What I mean is, if time exists in a continuous loop, and Hyun Jae ‘93 is currently writing songs, receiving ‘beeps’ and raising hell in the past, depending on how long it takes for Our Hyun Jae to return to the past and the time lines to converge (if they ever do) Ji Hoon might very well be Hyun Jae’s genetic off spring without Our Hyun Jae ever dating Bo Hee or ever sleeping with her.
In some ways that seems like the ideal outcome, because I’m having a really hard time imaging Our Hyun Jae as he exists currently, with his apparent burgeoning interest in Woo Seung and his positive personal trajectory–as far as not being a self-centered dick is concerned–going back to the past knowing all he knows and still striking up the relationship with Bo Hee necessary to bring about Ji Hoon’s existence. Especially not with Kwang Jae’s obvious infatuation with her which, if Our Hyun Jae hasn’t noticed it yet, he’s bound to notice soon. Yet, if Our Hyun Jae doesn’t return to the past and do the necessaries with Bo Hee, we have to seriously worry about Ji Hoon’s continued existence.
The two concurrent timelines/two different Hyun Jaes theory cleans up a lot of those paradoxical paternity issues without throwing Ji Hoon’s parentage into question. Beyond that, with two distinct Hyun Jaes in separate time lines Our Hyun Jae becomes a much more viable romantic option for Woo Seung, since he’s never been romantically involved with Ji Hoon’s mom (blech.)   Although that does leave our lovelines in 2017 a royal mess, and none of it answers the question of what happened to Hyun Jae ‘93 in 1994. And where does that leave Our Hyun Jae in the present? What does he do with himself?
All of that just to say…I’m very concerned about everyone and I have no idea what’s going on. I’m really enjoying this show but it’s giving me palpitations, tbh. Somebody save me.

I came across a blog with analyses of k-pop idols sexualities. Here is the author’s take on NCT 2018. Interestingly, Jaehyun is under a question. And I wonder if it’s his sole focus on Doyoung plus his protection of personal space  that makes people doubt. Time periods and amount of observed moments matter for analysis afterall. Jae with flirting male idols is not the same Jae, when he is with Do. The author mentioned that Doyoung “friendzones girls” and I like this description, exactly the feeling I get from seeing him around female artists. That’s why my money is on “gay”.  But I’m lazy and not interested in watching footages from Inkigayo to find moments to prove my point. Afterall currently it doesn’t matter.
I’m a person who is hesitant with drawing conclusions, because I don’t like to guess, I want to be sure, I need solid enough proof, but at the same time I easily change my point of view with new information. I said before that I’m undecided with Yuta and Woo. After paying more attention to Yuta I can now agree with the author, his crush on WinWin was real, same with Woo (although this new one is less serious). And he is probably bi, he just wants to love and to be loved (the words he said about Doyoung, but in truth are about him). And the real shift in his dynamic with Do actually happened after the 2nd anniversary (remember how he took a glass with vine away, preventing Do knocking it with his arm? the care he didn’t show before. also during one of recent vids (was it guessing k-pop songs by emoji?) he stroked Do’s back, consoling, which I’d never seen before).
I get why JN is perceived by many as bi, it’s his outgoing personality and love for people, readiness to experiment, I considered it too, but his reactions, when it comes to him and men, are too much that of a straight and the picture of the future he draws is also that of a married to a woman life with his own kids. I’ve never seen any signs of him being sexually attracted to any of the members. It’s always the familial love. He is careful and usually warns members, when he is going to touch them, he doesn’t touch the members, that didn’t give him permission (like Taeil).
OK, Woo would stay under “he probably is, but I’m waiting for proof” (I really need to see him around women for comparison, but alas, right now I just don’t have a good understanding of him) for me for some time. So far the most suspicious behaviour was during ISAC football match, the way he played with the ball. He is very childish and attention seeking, it’s gets in the way.
With everybody else (not counting Dreamies, I don’t know them, Jisung is straight though) I agree. And finally we come to Taeyong.
We discussed with a couple of anons the possibility of Taeyong having a crush on Doyoung in the past. I also said that after Jaedo came out Tae might have contemplated his own sexuality. The author’s musings align with both. What can be said for sure is that Taeyong doesn’t know himself.

1. The Treacherous
2. The Handmaiden
3. A Muse
Nữ diễn viên Kim Go Eun đảm nhận vai Eun Gyo.
6. Human Addiction
7. A Frozen Flower
8. The Taste of Money
9. For the Emperor
10. The Emperor’s Concubine
12. The Housemaid
13. Empire Of Lust
