For Moe

And Ashe because they are both criminals and while Moe is more of a contractor and works by commission (especially when it comes to omnic enhancements that she herself has) I feel that they could definitely meet and form a very good business relationship? Mostly when it comes to selling unusual weapons. Maybe even be convinced to do some work with the Deadlocks? Who knows, for something special she just might.

And Zenyatta because wow she would probably have never met an omnic face to face that she hadn’t felt the need to defend herself. I feel that he’s a bit all over the place in terms of spirituality for her, but I also feel that’s actually pretty good? If nothing else to open her mind to themes that she hadn’t felt interest before and that she with her intelligence could definitely help with.

And EDI because just the sheer engineering involved in her is absolutely mind boggling and Moe would love the irony that a Cerberus AI would have gone rogue to decide her fate for herself. Moe appreciates this as she was born into a family of Cerberus scientists and decided to leave later. She builds smaller robots and is also toying with AI which most people thing it’s insane. I feel that they could definitely have really good coversations.

And BB because while it is a military grade ‘tool’, I feel that Moe would find it the cutest thing she has ever seen.

And Thane because of the nature of both of their business it’s bound that they probably run in the same circles even if they never really worked together. But what if they did? I feel that they could be friends even if his clear cut memory does scare her a bit, ngl

For Loane

And Sera honestly just give it to me; I feel like it’s such a good combo and they can just have so much fun. Loane bringing her information wherever she is, sending her letters with smaller things that she feels that Sera would enjoy? Bee themed things? Showing off her bee tattoos at a later point? Sera being the one that drags her to do some pranks? Both women that kick ass with bows? Have them train together? So many ideas so little time

And Khaliya because I feel that Khaliya would be actually so charming that Loane would just develop this (probably very obvious) crush whenever she is around in Skyhold which would likely not be a lot. Small dwarven warden bringing wild dry flowers for the lady inquisitor simply because she saw them and thought they were nice, yes please. 10/10 would have her wallet stolen again.

For the priestess

And Ana Amari? Despite the priestess working more closely with Blackwatch than the main crew of Overwatch I feel that they would actually get along really well? To see how they would have interacted before everything went tits up and also see how they would have after (because they are both quite different, Ana is alive which the priestess never thought she would be; and the priestess is alive but only with the help of being given a bunch of omnic enhancements)

And Zenyatta because she would definitely feel if not a bit lost definitely bitter after having nearly died and having to rely on technology to keep her alive. Have her be super suspicious of him and slowly grow to see that he actually has a lot of good points and a good way of life? A mood.

And Mason Shepard, in the verse that the priestess is one of the krogan shamans? Kicking ass, taking names? Maybe have him convince her to join the crew of the Normandy? (probably not a good idea but you know)

For the gentleman

And Morrigan if nothing else because I feel that they could be so interesting together. I don’t know if your Morrigan has Kieran but in any case I feel that their meeting while she’s in Orlais could be interesting. Bonus points if she maybe remembers seeing glimpses of him before? Maybe during the Blight but it was situations that were like blink and you’ll miss it? Have them talk about the Eluvians after Morrigan eventually sees that he might know more information that he’s letting on? Talking about the well and, if she drinks from it, help decipher? I’m saying this but it’s unlikely that he would volunteer to do so lmao. Or, if we’re going by in a same verse where Khaliya is inquisitor and she drank from the well, maybe he could have been brought in to help as well and that’s how they meet officially?

For Zofia

Maybe as a target that Thane was given? She would likely be a blind asari in this verse, maybe a Ardat-Yakshi but one that has voluntarily exiled herself though not in the same place as Samara’s daughers? But Thane doesn’t actuall follow through with it after seeing that she is actually trying her best to have others less fortunate and people that have been considered without redemption find a meaning in their lives?

life and death | matsukawa i.

synopsis: here’s the truth about fear. it comes to you when you think you’re at the farthest from death. you learning about issei’s fear and you do so with his face in between your hands, and your heartbeat against his ear.

characters: matsukawa issei, you

genre: fluff, hurt/comfort, issei crying lmao. tw: talks about death.

a/n: issei prob has it rough ngl

you think that fear is supposed to feel a certain way, but your truth is that it’s a range of the black, the white, and every shade of grey in between.

you recall that issei talked to you once, after his first day on the job, about how incredibly tragic death is. he was curled up beside you in bed, at five pm, where he had the blinds drawn so the darkness in the room could somehow emulate the safety he found at night.

truth be told, it’s the first you’ve seen him like it. a little bit broken before, yes; some bruises at the cheeks after life punches him hard, sure. but crawled up next to you with his head in your lap was a new sight. looking at him like this: where issei’s way past broken and distraught, crying into your lap a little too softly for it to be called a sob, has your heart cracking into an unfamiliar kind of pattern.

to you, matsukawa issei had always triumphed over his fears. a witty joke after a heartbreak, a heartfelt sigh after a lost game. for as long as you’ve loved him he was always, always light.

“what do you fear?” he asks you out of the blue, and when he turns his head and faces you peering down at him, in his eyes do you see his craving for comfort.

“bugs,” you answer immediately.

issei chuckles, then sniffles a little bit before he reaches up and wipes the accumulated tears on his eyes with the heels of his palm. “other than bugs.”

“do you want me to say death?” you ask, patiently.

“i want you to say the truth.”

“i fear that i am not afraid of death,” you then say, giving him your truth.

“but wouldn’t that mean that you’d just live life fearlessly?” issei questions.

“that means i am living life too recklessly.”

you smile, smoothing away the strands of his hair that stuck a little too wildly on his face before you lean down and press a quick kiss to his forehead. he sniffles again, so when you part, you laugh and squeeze his cheeks in between your hands.

“what’s this about?”

at your question, issei looks faraway again. a tap to his cheek has his eyes refocusing back and you smile, because you know he’s brought back down to earth. his eyes soften as if to say thank you.

“at work earlier,” he begins, and his lips tremble in the very slightest. “i had to escort a kid for a viewing. he was only eleven or ten or something—fuck, i don’t know.”

when your open palm settles against his cheek, he leans in and reaches forward with one hand so that he keeps your warmth in place. you stare at him, so he continues. “he had no one else with him. i think uncle dropped him off then bolted. he was staring at his parents dead inside a casket. kid didn’t even cry—just asked where they were gonna go.”

“what did you tell him?” you ask.

issei runs his hands over his face, just as a fresh cry escapes his throat. the silence in the room hangs like the portraits on a wall. they watch, with baited breath, as issei lets his aches escape his body.

“i couldn’t tell him shit, because i don’t know shit.”

“that’s okay,” you reassure.

“i know that,” issei smiles. “it will be, in time, for him. but that made me realize that there’s always gonna be that one person who’s there after you go. and that shit’s terrifying.”

“you could be that person’s whole world or just a speck of it, but they’re left when you go. i can’t fucking deal with it if you go—“ he finishes, spiraling.

“i’m here now, though.”

“all we will ever have is the now, ‘sei,” you add as an afterthought, speaking softly as you move your hand up and swipe away the longer strands of the waves that dangle in front of his eyes. when your knuckles brush against his forehead, you smile at the warmth of his skin.

the now, you smile again, because there is really no other truth than that. the past was once a now, and you know that the future will be that as well.

you’re quick to see the retaliation that issei wants to say before he could even get the words out, so you beat him to the punch instead. “if you keep thinking about it too much, time’s gonna pass you by real quick.”

“but when either of us goes—“

“then whoever goes first will just have to wait a bit before meeting up again wherever the next destination is,” you answer with a tone of finality, cutting him off.

“you’re letting yourself spiral, sei’.”

then with patience, you watch as issei crumbles even further in front of you. “it’s just,” he begins, leaning his head back as the tears pool and slide down his cheeks again. “i just didn’t expect that it would be this fucking hard.”

instead of saying anything, you choose to keep your silence. you keep issei’s hands held warm and tight against yours, your thumb automatically reaching out to draw circles around the back of his palm. slowly, you watch him as he gathers his composure and rebuilds himself for a few seconds before crumbling, then regaining that same composure once again.

the idea of death had always been just a thought that even if it were to come—it wouldn’t happen in the moment. to be face to face with it, on the other hand, that was a different case. and issei, you note, even if he held himself together stronger than others you know in the field, even he has his moments too.

moments where more than ever, you see how unapologetically human he just is.

a human who cries in the face of death, because the other side was still a haze that you couldn’t see past the fog that is the void in between.

“let’s just live in the now, issei,” you tell him again, reaching forward and cupping his face, wiping the steady flow of tears on his cheeks. they keep coming despite his attempts at sniffling and controlling himself, but you suppose you don’t mind. the now, for the both of you is really just this. it’s the tender moment where even if you aren’t face to face with death just yet—you’re instead face to face with the fear that comes with it.

and the truth, you think, will always be as raw as the emotions that come with it.

“are you afraid?” you ask, voice soft, and eyes speaking of patience.

issei nods, closing his eyes again as his head drops in your hands, his shoulders sagging and body slumped. “i’m fucking terrified.”

“and that’s okay,” you answer him, leaning forward to press your forehead against his. with eyes closed, you imagine the contours of his face that is in no doubt in a state of grief in front of you.

his cheeks are warm against the palms of your hand, and when he sighs, you smile to yourself. the now, you remind yourself is also this very moment too: life.

“we’ll always be scared if we keep thinking about anything that isn’t the now, issei, so just breathe and live a day at a time. and if you can’t do that just yet, then let’s settle on a minute at a time. that’s okay too.”

when you tug at his arm to lay beside you, you smile when you feel him rest his head on your chest instead of the pillow on his side of the bed. you reach down, stroking his hair then eventually moving down to rub circles on his back.

issei heaves another sigh as he closes his eyes, ignoring the thoughts of the hours that passed and instead just trying to focus what his now is.

a smile blossoms across his face when he hears a heartbeat.

your heartbeat.

and in the minute he decides to finally let go and lose himself in, he understands what his now is. it’s this, here with you, in the darkness of the four walls he calls home. your hands warm against his back, breaths audible as you inhale and exhale. it’s your heartbeat, issei thinks.

the now is life.

But I'm so excited for Episode 180, I'm sure the break probably just means Quimchee needs more time to work on the episode and we'll get fed! Also, we already suffered 7/8 months through the stalkyoo fight, what are a few more weeks then? At least we finally saw them talk and reconcile.

That being said, what are your predictions and perhaps hopes for Episode 180? Or what do you hope doesn't happen?

Hahaha! I THINK if quimchee was intending to do a much longer break she'd be warning us, but hahahaha! I assumed, yeah, she just couldn't get the whole episode ready in time and rather than rush or cut it in half she did the reasonable thing and took off the week. But yes the timing is so funny lmaoooo

I don't know if I have any real predictions, but I guess I do want to see some confirmation that Nol has decided to stay with his friends? The fact that he made the effort to actually go to Shinae, he literally took the step to her and face her, feels to me like he has decided that he can't - and shouldn't - walk away from his friends. I don't know if Shinae can actually get through to him that easily, but her point that he isn't ACTUALLY protecting her from Yui by leaving given her circumstances is a REALLY IMPORTANT point.

I might be being too optimistic, but to me, that whole moment when Nol and Shinae throw each other's words back and forth - the "Did you really mean everything you said?" "Every last word" - and Nol's decision to climb up and join Shinae reads like he's made that decision because why else do it, right? I don't think he's joining her to say goodbye for real, or he would have left when she told him to go on and get lol. He had multiple opportunities tonight to leave and I think joining her on the rooftop is Nol deciding to accept his friendships and embrace them. Maybe he'll still go to university out of country, but the important thing is that he's not severing those ties, that when he finishes serving his time, he'll heave friends to return to (and friends to visit him and talk to him if he wants that).

Also ngl I wanna see Shinae give Nol the hug she promised haha. I think there's something poetic about how their first and last hug was so PAINFUL and tragic and, when you consider that conversation, it hurts even more. We all thought he'd hugged her because he couldn't bear for her to think their friendship never meant anything, but instead, it was a hug of apology, because it was true, he hadn't meant it at first, it WAS all a lie at first and he felt apologetic towards her (and probably to himself, because that friendship had come to mean something and he didn't believe he could protect it). So to go from that terrible, painful hug to one of reconciliation, to starting again, to being more honest? Ugh yes I want to see that SO badly.

I imagine that also means Nol will join Shinae at the party - and lmao having to explain where he came from hah! I feel like there's a chance Soushi might be more reluctant to forgive but that's a pretty baseless feeling lol. He just feels like he might need more explanation than Dieter might.

I'm keen to see Nol and Minhyuk meet, though. I've made it clear that I think they won't necessarily get along very well from the start and even though Shinae seems like she'll be able to forgive Nol and is happy that they can reconcile, I think it will be harder for Minhyuk to accept. He'll probably grudgingly accept him, but in the kind of "you're on really thin ice and if you fuck up again I WILL kick your ass" kind of way lmaoooo like. Shinae made it clear that she cares about Nol a lot and Minhyuk clearly isn't used to seeing that side of her, of people mattering to her, so I think he'd try to understand her even though he likely wouldn't think much of Nol at this time?

That's probably all I really have for theories, though lol I'm pretty up in the air. It'd be nice to see Nol smile at some point. Just... let go of his dark feelings for a moment and revel in the comfort that despite it all, there are people who have come to care about him, and they are people who are important to him, and hopefully have a few moments of peace and maybe even happiness before he has to go away for a while aaaaaahhhhhhh!

i found myself at 2k before i knew it and tried not to drag on for too long, but as you can see, that didn’t happen. so now there’s just this really long post about kokichi’s birthday and i’m kind of in love with it ngl

i don’t think i necessarily did the request either, i think i did a lot more omg i hope that’s alright with you kokichi simp anon

also he is slightly aged up here !! by three to five years at least.

his personality is a lot more chill here because he’s not in a killing game which stretches his lying habit to an extreme to keep him afloat in his lies

in this he’s just kind of a slightly rude mouthed tsundere boy ?? and i vibe heavily with older kokichi - mod kokichi

- his birthday this year was such a treat

- honest to god he will likely never forget this birthday for as long as he lives

- and the weirdest thing is that ??? not much even happened that day

- but at the same time it was like everything was happening

- you typically go all out on his birthday by planning elaborate surprises later in the afternoon to blow him away

- and it works every time

- but this birthday was a little different, and a lot more subtle

- he woke up with you right beside him in bed, sleeping peacefully with your arm lazily wrapped around his waist like you two normally slept

- you were so stunning, even when wearing his faded old tee from a band he used to like and your mouth slightly opened with a bit of drool

- he was tempted not to move because he knew you would halfway wake up

- and he just knew that once you woke up and remembered his birthday, you wouldn't be able to fall back asleep and would insist on waking up with him

- he did find it a little odd that you were asleep still though

- usually, when something exciting is happening, you have trouble falling asleep and become a very light sleeper

- so for you to be as deep asleep as you were, it was certainly uncommon

- even though it was his birthday and his inner child wanted the attention on him immediately, he let you sleep

- very VERY carefully, he slid off and away from the bed

- trying really hard to step lightly so the floorboards didn't creak under his feet

- he left you in the bed while he went to brush his teeth and start his morning doing whatever he wanted

- it wasn't often he had a morning to himself, since you usually woke up before him

- he really didn't know what to do without you to fill his morning with your horrible morning breath and low voice as you mumbled

- so he opted for walking around the house, inevitably going into the kitchen

- and then he saw it

- a very tiny but elaborately designed cake, with his birthday and name written in your handwriting when you tried to write fancily

- his heart swelled a little inside as he walked up to it and read the card you'd made for him out of really nice looking origami paper

- " happy birthday baby! i hope today is the best birthday ever. i don't have a lot planned, but i still want to make it super special for you. you deserve the entire world, and i know one day you'll get it because the king always gets what he wants ! i love you so much kokichi, and thank you for being my crazy perfect little boyfriend. -s / o "

- you'd drawn a chibi of him and you together snuggling on the side with flower crowns

- ah, flower crowns were something that you taught him how to make on your third date together

- he hugged the card to his chest, holding onto as if it were his lifeline

- he noticed a yellow sticky note hidden poorly behind the cake, picking it up

- " p.s. don't think i've forgotten about your gift ! you have to find it tho, its somewhere in this house. your hint is that we had our first kiss there. that was so hella awkward, wasn't it ? But to be honest, i couldn't stop thinking about it for days,, - s / o "

- he just stood there for a moment, trying to think about that day

- he had taken you to his apartment because you had tripped and hurt yourself at the park

- you looked just as beautiful back then as you did now,,

- you had teared up slightly because there was a lot of blood, even though the cut itself wasn't that bad

- after he had you bandaged up on the couch in the living room, you and him decided you would spend dinner together

- when it was time to leave, you sat on the couch, while he was joking around and standing on the table next to it so he could be tall

- he had warned you beforehand that if you didn't move, he was going to jump and kiss you

- you took his bluff and didn't budge

- he freefalled, letting gravity hit you with the reality that he wasn't lying

- yeah, right there on the couch while you were sitting, he kissed you for the first time

- out of shock, you had disconnected the kiss and leaned back, surprised and touching your bottom lip

- kokichi remembered being able to see the cogs in your head turning as you sat there and stared at him for longer than a minute

- and then you'd grabbed his jacket, pulling him close to you and reinitiating the kiss

- did your actions that night make god frown ?

- yeah, probably

- but, even now, when thinking about he couldn't help but get a little red in the face thinking about it

- you'd only ever been that bold a few times in this relationship

- and each time was because he either teased you relentlessly over stupid, romantic stuff

-or it was a new point in the relationship that you were more than ready to reach

- s / o : " ah, mornin' baby, how do you like ? "

you scratched the back of your head lazily, more than a little content to rest your head on his shoulder, no matter how far down you had to bend to reach it

- wrapping your arms around his torso, you smiled a little at the sticky note in his hand

- s / o : " i totally forgot i did that. "

- kokichi : " you've done a lot of lame things that sound like they come out of a bad romance movie, but this is probably one of the most cheesy things you've ever done. "

- s / o : " do you like it ? "

- kokichi : " yes. yes i do. but you're going to have to do better than this because i already figured out the first hint. "

- s / o : " what is it ? "

- kokichi : " the couch, duh. you had been so horny like woah close your legs we'd only been dating for about four months. "

- s / o : " i was horny for love, not sex. there's a difference. it wasn't my legs that i opened, it was my heart, dumdum. "

- kokichi : " PLEASE DON'T CALL ME DUMDUM YOU KNOW IT MAKES ME CRY - "

- you let go of him, laughing softly

- s / o : " once you find your present, i'll let you have a bite of cake. "

- kokichi : " a bite ? what's going to happen to the rest ? "

- you flicked his forehead, to which he lowkey cutely flinched back and put his hand over where you hit

- kokichi : " you're on my nerves today, you know that ? "

- s / o : " well, someone's gotta annoy the annoying one. "

- FUCK HE IS IN LOVE WITH YOU -

- kokichi : " i'm just going to finish this quickly so i ruin your plan of keeping me busy all day. "

- s / o : " since you're so smart, i dare you to try to find it in twenty minutes or less "

- you set a timer, and watched as he scrambled to find all of the clues to find the last hiding spot

- yeah, it would have been easier for him to just search the entire house, but then what's the fun if you can't play the game ?

- he decided to indulge you

- he was having fun lmao

- after he went to the couch, he found the sticky note that asked him where they got caught having a,, moment,,, by your parents

- " heyy, kokichi !! remember that time wE were making out and my parents walked in because they were visiting ? i hated it !! do you remember where that happened ? i do !! - s / o "

- against the refrigerator, of course

- he passed you in the kitchen

- you were sitting at the table, just watching him with such amusement

- s / o : " you're always throwing me for games. now i understand how it feels to be in your shoes. "

- kokichi : " oh haha, you suck at being me. "

- s / o : " do i ? then why is there only ten minutes left for you to find your gift ? "

- kokichi : " no way. "

- s / o : " yeah, seriously. you're horrible at this game. "

- kokichi ignored you, checking the refrigerator for another note

- didn't see a sticky note on the front, but the moment he opened it, a bright yellow sticky note glared at him

- " kokichi !! Do you remember when you gave me the promise rings ? it was such an out of character thing for you to do, i was wondering if there was something wrong with it at first and was hesitant to put it on. and now i sleep with it on. ahh, it feels like we're already married, doesn't it ? - s / o "

- kokichi looked back at you as you sipped on your morning drink

- s / o : " gosh, kokichi, i just wanna say that you are the cutest person in existence, so thank you for that. "

- kokichi : " uh-huh. now tell me where the next clue is. "

- s / o : " you're just so,, ugh ! i love how much of a snuggle bug you are. "

- kokichi : " you're not helping your case. i may just sit here and listen to you being cringy. "

- s / o : " do you think me telling the truth embarrasses me ? pitiful. "

- kokichi : " no wait go back to complimenting me. "

- kokichi : " the compliments are starting to get really backhanded. "

- you both stood there for a second, staring at each other and giggling under your breath

- he leaned over quickly and kissed your cheek, escaping fast

- but not fast enough

- you caught him by the sleeve of his jacket and pulled him back into your space, kissing your boyfriend on the lips

- when he pulled away to breathe, he looked completely disheveled, and all he wanted now was to stay in your space

- s / o : " go on, find the gift. "

- kokichi : " no. "

- s / o : " then you'll just randomly find in in the coming week ? "

- kokichi : " yeah, pretty much. i'm boooorrrreedd, so do something to entertain me. "

- your arms were pleasantly resting on his hips, holding him in place as he watched you smile

- s / o : " no ! go find the gift. "

- you leaned into him, giving him another kiss on the lips, but this one was a peck and didn't last nearly as long

- kokichi whined. and he whined LOUDLY, but you were unmoveable in your resolve

- so eventually he had to give up and follow through with your plans

- kokichi : " oh, what's the time ? "

- s / o : " you still have eleven minutes left. "

- kokichi : " that's not possible. "

- s / o : " it is if you're a liar. "

- you did his little pose where he puts his finger over his mouth like " shh " and laughed, watching your boyfriend go from totally in love to Hella Annoyed in a matter of moments

- he headed into the bathroom where he had " proposed " to you with those promise rings

- you had been in the shower, ironically humming the tune to " say you won't let go " by james arthur

- so what's the best thing to do in this situation ?

- scare the crap out of you by singing with you and then pretend to propose, of course !! :D

- the plan worked perfectly, you had been successfully scared the crap out of and hella surprised

- you had admitted to him that you knew he wouldn't propose yet, but that the rings were an incredibly sweet gesture, even if they're presented in a comical manner

- you two both wear them every day as if they were real marriage rings

- at first it bothered him that he even had this idea, because it was such an,, adult step in the relationship

- but, as he thought about it, he realized that he was actually getting older. that these kind of things are,, normal of adults, right ?

- plus, he did want to marry you one day

- he really REALLY thought you were the one for him

- turns out, yeah, they are

- on the backside of the curtains, there was the final sticky note, which had nothing more than a heart on it

- after searching the bathroom up and down, he came back to you with his eyebrows knitted together

- kokichi : " unless toothpaste is the present, then i don't think you finished the game. "

- s / o : " yes i did, i gave you all of the hints you need. promise. "

- he stared at the notes in his hands, wondering what kind of stupid you were to think that they were finished

- and then he saw it, staring him right in the face

- B E D

- he gave you that smug look of " i know what you did, but i figured it out "

- and rushed to the bedroom

- but before he could get in, the bell rang on your timer

- s / o : " you didn't make it to the time love, i'm sorry about that hehe. but go. go find it. "

- kokichi looked through the bed, just to find a small box on your side of the bed

- he opened it to see a little pendant with both of your names in japanese and birthstones on a small silver chain

- it was dainty, and cute

- wow he was in love with it, and he didn't even really like necklaces that much

- s / o : " i know you once told me you didn't like necklaces that much, but it was either that or get something a stereotypical guy likes

- kokichi : " i think this is perfect, s / o. and you're right, i don't like necklaces, but fuck guy-things, that stuff is always weird. "

- after you put the necklace on him, he smiled gratefully

- s / o : " so, cake ? "

- kokichi stopped in his place, debating on it heavily, but opted to tackle you down onto the bed

- he wrapped his arms around you, not planning to let you go anytime soon

- kokichi : " not to be gross or anything but cuddles sound much better than cake. cake is for losers. "

- he did, indeed, have a piece of cake later into the day

- before that, you two ended up taking a nap together like that on the bed

- you were more than content to cradle your boyfriend and whisper soft, gentle words

- he genuinely sucks at staying still while cuddling, so he tries to fill up time before he got sleepy

- he would talk to you about whatever popped up into his mind

- which was usually how the world domination plan is definitely going exactly how he plans it

- starting with winning your heart, and then winning the worlds' hearts

- or kissing everywhere from your neck to your bellybutton

- just anywhere he could get his hands on, he would kiss you

- at the end of the day, this was his favorite birthday

- just spending time with the one he loves most and having them love him back in reciprocation

- you always made sure he was well cared for, but this was overdoing yourself

- he wanted to thank you, but didn't really know how to do so

- luckily, you understand him better than he thinks you do

- and you know that look on his face when his eyes are half-closed

- and he's got a smile on his face that he doesn't even realize he has

- that he's happy, even if he doesn't explicitly say it out loud to you

- you let him snuggle into your chest, hoping he could hear your heart

- his eyes began to get heavy, and as he listened to your gentle voice sway him into sleeping

- he really started to think about things, albeit in a half-asleep manner

- he'd grown up, and has since stopped lying as much just for a joke

- he wasn't exactly going to give up his boyish charms no matter how old he is by any means

- partly because he was so damn short it would seem weird to people if he didn't act like what he looked like

- but he was learning how to act like his age

- because he's growing emotionally as well as physically

- he's getting better at trusting people, and letting them know the true kokichi instead of a lie he fabricated to feel better behind a mask

- kokichi is learning that there are people out there that genuinely like to talk to him and want to be around him

- like you, his perfect partner,

- his partner that he plans to hold like this till death do them part, his angel, and saving grace,

- and the person whom he loves no matter how old he gets.

yes aditya gets a treat because otherwise indus is going to murder him and then transfer him far far away and never unground him ever and we can't do that to a baby. also i hope no actual murder of chickens occur in their plot thing but it could also be something Worse so Yikes!

i wish yao didn't know what a hickey is but. welp he would. actually this makes me propose a situation (nsfw-ish? implied nsfw?): nyo china buys encyclopedias for yao to read and one very old one has a section with a full diagram of sexual intercourse. it isn't porn, it's those diagrams where the skin is missing and serves as a view into the organs of the human body but just in a... position. so 8 year old yao reads all about sex and goes to nyo china being like "hey so sex is for making babies right? so if i want children i have to have sex right? there's no opting out of it?" and nyo china is like fuck it the kid might as well get his sex ed + introduction to adoption stuff now since he knows about it already. then the next day a teacher has a badly hidden hickey and yao is trying to figure out how the fuck that happened before he remembers that certain animals bite each other during sex and asks nyo china about it.. and then boom. (the encyclopedia part was unfortunately inspired by irl events 😔)

but anyway imagine yao mistranslating the code.. and being like "wtf why do you want to BITE people" and india + iran being like ??? and then they get an unfortunate sex ed that night (baby! yao's mildly inaccurate version: "sometimes weirdos like biting each other during sex many animals do this as well and this is called a hickey. sex is this thing that adults do for fun and sometimes to reproduce. but you should only bite other people and have sex with them if all of you are interested and not just because you want a baby, because there are other ways of getting one. if they try to have sex with you or bite you or touch you in Bad Touch areas you should -" "kill them? and get an adult later?" "yeah exactly" "how do you know this tho??") then yao probably tries to find the sex encyclopedia to bring to school to show india and iran but nyo china threw it out because it was 20 years out of date and said that pluto was a planet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

also YES MISS VIETNAM DESTROY THE PROPERTY OF THE RICH... CUT HIM DOWN TO SIZE imagine getting 2 entire ass houses at 18 lol and there was actually a person who was going to get a mercedes in my class. apparently his parents were buying 2 and wanted him to pick the one with the colour he liked more as a gift at 18 and keep the other for themselves. he asked us which colour Mercedes was better, someone accused him of being a braggart, and then there was so much drama... i am glad i am no longer in that class. rich people.

also yeah miss vietnam is definitely one of those nice but strict teachers!! she'll definitely be kind to everyone but she won't tolerate bullshit and god knows yao is full of it. but also imagine vietnam teaching india's class and then yao pouting to india about the assignment he got a b on (a slight improvement from the c) only to be met with "what? she's so nice and smart lol you're just an asshole i kind of want to make friends with her tbh" and yao's like How Dare You Backstab Me Like This? but yes she really forces him to Think instead of just letting him be and that's very good for him!! and she gets an intellectual outlet too :D

also yeah like linh is going to struggle.. how do you write "he's a complete asshole but tolerable and intellectually fun after a while" in a GOOD manner?? this rec letter will probably be full of phrases like "a spirited personality given to debate" or something

I wasn’t really thinking about anything specific for the plot; I was really just trying to find a word that was slightly similar to hickey and decided on a dead chicken lmao. But honestly, it would probably be something like “I’m going to bring a (dead) chicken to class for show and tell and you two need to act horrified and cause a ruckus because it would be fun and it would scare the other kids :)”. (this is probably bullying, so in an effort to make them slightly better kids, an alternative plot is that a stray cat has been coming to their school and in order to make friends with it, they feed it a whole-ass dead chicken Nyo China got from the butchers and was planning to cook for dinner. The teachers are horrified and confiscate Yao’s backpack for fear of germs and salmonella.)

THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OH MY GOD nyo China, miss, please, he’s young. But the encyclopedia reading is so accurate o-o small and independent Yao + voracious reader + lots and lots of books about Everything + nyo China’s hands-off “it’s never too early to know” caretaking/parenting strategy = what other things has he been exposed to... (let’s face it he’s probably said the F-word or insulted someone in Mandarin without meaning to, but came off as a disrespectful little chaos ball) BUT THE BADLY HIDDEN HICKEY and the ANIMALS BITING EACH OTHER salk;fsdl;ksdjl way to unconsciously roast your teacher lmao. I love nyo China’s no-nonsense way of approaching Strange Questions Asked by Eight Year Olds but I do not know how to feel about her very direct answers 😭 Also, I am very sorry for your personal loss 😔.

Scene 3 is 100/10 canon now. “weirdos who bite each other during sex” Yao thinks hickeys are weird, and good for him. Also the little summary!! Vietnam has a blacklist of Confirmed Assholes she needs to keep an eye on and Yao got on the list in the first few days after being very tryhard and simultaneously arrogant, so he just assumes she’s naturally mean because he never saw the other side of her. But then he starts hearing reviews from his friends who all say she’s their favorite teacher so far and he’s all like “????? Excuse you???” Also yes go get her friendship Aditya hopefully it will mellow you out a little as well “A spirited personality given to debate” YES YES YES! That sounds like such a nice phrase but it’s just code for “loves to argue with me and that’s cool I guess”. The recommendation makes Yao glow (to admissions) despite how much Vietnam thinks it’s bad and also how much bs-ing she thought she did. Admissions officers think Yao’s amazing and contributes greatly to the classroom environment and Vietnam is like “yeah, in a way, as long as you don’t mind someone who thinks every word you say is somehow wrong and will fight you to prove it lol. just take him, I’m trying to get rid of him”

Since there’s essays involved I’m assuming she teaches either history or literature? Kinda on the fence because I feel like she’d be good at giving a no-nonsense version of history filled with interesting details and prompts that make you think (and also hosts monthly debates on controversial issues), but I also want Yao to be as un-confident as possible in his abilities in her class, and I feel like he would be less comfortable/sure of his answers and thoughts in a lit class than a history one. I’m not sure though

Omfg Alexa is god damn stellar. Nikki tells her to choose either Fiend/Bray or [Nikki]. Alexa thinks about it for a moment, “okay. I choose... *blows the flower petals in Nikki’s face* him!” Then fucking claps, giggles and walks away. Imagine if you had a whole damn roster that could be this entertaining.

Also Nikki is really talented in her own right. Working with Alexa did wonders as far as promos and acting go.

Survivor Series team is supposedly at ringside because Asuka is about to go one on one with Nia. I’m not seeing the correlation.

Shayna officially playing the role of henchman now, I see. That’s interesting.

Asuka does a lot of things worth praising. Her Octopus is not one of them.

It’s always nice seeing Nia bump like she does for Asuka.

Oh that kickout into an armbar by Asuka was BEAUTIFUL.

I hate Shayna’s hammerfists SO much.

This Survivor Series team is a fucking disaster in kf.

aaaaand there’s number 8. Jeeeeze. “You don’t belong here, you’re gonna drag us down. Just quit.” This is a bullying story done right tbh. No personal petty bs insults, no body shaming. Just straight up physically assaulting the weakest link that has zero friends. It’s a good story. I feel sympathy for sure.

See I don’t mind Shotzi’s backstage promos at all. She exudes passion. I can feel her emotions. But 9 times out of 10 she ends it in a howl and I want to scream.

Weak final thought though. There was really nothing better you could end it on? Okay.

It’s a damn shame what happened in 2020, the whole world has felt it. And it’s a damn shame that you didn’t get to show out in front of 80k people. I truly feel for you. Your loss, however? In kf I can’t feel bad because you sought HER out on HER show. In a meta sense? She did you a favor taking that title. You were 5 seconds from being called Charlotte 2.0, and you deserve better. You deserve the opportunity to grow and make a name for yourself without being handed everything before the age of 25, and you’re SO much better off for it.

The downfall of “nxt’s hottest new act” was a great story. It sucks to be her, but it was a great story. Rhea’s gonna be a fucking STAR on the main roster. She will thrive. She will exceed expectations. She will make a name for herself. She had to eat that humble pie first, though. Obviously I know how this match ends already, and rightfully so.

NXT UK:

Kind of a bummer that there’s only ever one women’s match/segment every week on UK. I want to ponder whether it’d be different sans a pandemic, but I’m not certain it would be.

Xia Brookside is too animated in her moves, and her moves are always too slow for it to mesh well.

They compliment Xia’s “technical work” but she just comes off as someone who has learned the absolute basics and has no idea how to utilize them in a match.

Interesting to note that they seem to be building up 2 heels in Nina and Jinny, yet the champ herself is a heel. Not quite making me believe either of them have a chance at defeating her in the future.

Nice I always love a good codebreaker. Points to Xia.

That was a nice cartwheel off the turnbuckle using the ropes. One would assume the tweak to the knee was a farce.

Stupid small package. Stupid result. At least Nina got some heat back, but she should’ve won, lesbireal.

Side note: I see UK does in fact have a pc. No excuse for these women to get gassed so quickly then, get it together.

By now most people have read and seen a lot about the convention already, but since I said I would write about it (and because I like to be able to look back on my own experiences later), I'll ramble on for a bit...

First and foremost, it was a pleasure to meet and see other Tumblr users and fans of skam in general, I loved being in a room with so many like minded people 💖🙏🥰 . I've never been to a convention before so it was truly special. I wanna give a special mention to

@chelouelou

, meeting her was one of my personal highlights and I am so glad we hit it off just as well as we did online. She is the sweetest person and a ray of sunshine, and we had multiple laughing fits for no good reason. All lovely things imo 🧡😍🙌✨

Some random facts:

I almost drew a braincell at La Petite Ceinture so I could write 'the skam france galaxy braincell' but I chickened out last moment because it felt like sacrilege

Every time we saw one of those step scooters we felt triggered

Every time we saw someone carrying a baguette we laughed

Elise brought everybody clown noses

La Petite Ceinture is absolutely calming and just a great experience to visit

About the convention:

We arrived around 9:00, and because we already got our passes the night before (the organization for that was also shitty, we arrived at 17:30, which was suppose to be the time that they would open up for the passes, and left at 21:00. They were not prepared, everything arrived in boxes through out the night, we had to wait a long long time) we didn't have to wait in line and sat on the floor for a bit while we waited for everything to start. We sat next to a large glass window, and suddenly we heard some fans shrieking in excitement. We looked up and saw Maxence walk past us, and let me tell you, that alone was quite an experience. Mannequin elite, indeed. There is just something so alluring about him, it's even more apparent in real life. We were all very nervous and also excited about the whole day, and this hyped us up even more ngl. We saw more cast members come in, Coline, Paul, Robin, Leo, and probably more that I can't remember. We got called into the big room where the panels were held, at around 10:00.

After a short speech by the host, and a video introduction of all the casts (which was lovely and I might post later, I don't know if anybody posted it yet? I haven't seen it) the cast of skam france came on stage. The crowd went wild, naturally. They got a standing ovation. The energy was buzzing. Axel was joking around from the first second, he was talking with Maxence and with the boys and with Zoe, making jokes the whole time, even gave the host what looked like a slap on the ass hahah. He looked very hyped up. The whole cast looked very happy to be there.

The duo photoshoot was suppose to start 10:15 but started around 10:45 instead. So the day already started with a delay, and because a lot of events had some overlap (for example they couldn't start the group photo shoot if a few cast members were still busy with their duo's) it had a sort of domino effect throughout the whole day. There was a lot of waiting and a lot of standing around. When I was in line for the duo photoshoot, Axel and Maxence were both hugging fans they met before (even though it wasn’t allowed, which I still don’t understand tbh) and one girl wanted to do the Polaris hand holding bit with Axel and he went with it and looked at her so softly it was a lot okay, I hope that girl is still alive. I saw Maxence do the same thing with another girl during the same shoot, so they stood back to back with the girls in question (the picture later became famous because of the manip smh) And just before it was my turn, Maxence draped himself over Axel and they hugged with Maxence standing behind Axel and Axel reached up to touch Maxence's arm. This wasn't for a photo they weren't even facing a camera, this was just them being their caring selves. They were really sweet together the whole day, as everyone has seen by now.

We had to wait a long time for the panel to start, and they started way later than planned. Maxence was still busy with his duo with Rocco and Assa and Lais also came in later. Everything was in French and the host translated. I considered going up to ask a question (tell us more about the 90% social media content that Axel wanted to do that went too far lmao) but the queue filled up so quickly and I knew there was a limited time for the cast, so I didn't. In the end it's probably for the best seeing as they went on for a half hour longer because Axel is the literal best and I will not hear anyone say anything different. I thought the host did a good job, but I still think a lot of details got lost in translation because he obviously couldn't translate every single thing word for word. I cackled because when he talked in English he pronounced Axel and Maxence's names very Englishy. I thought it was cute that Axel kept shouting for Maxence to come join them when they started, and that when Maxence came in he sat in front of him. I sat pretty close to the stage at that point and saw that Axel explained to Maxence that he yelled his name hahah. That whole panel was golden, loved hearing about their fave lines and upcoming projects, plus they were all so sweet to each other, ugh, name me a better cast istg. Some of the other highlights for me were how adorable Axel and Leo were together and how Moussa and Lais are integrated into the whole cast and got along with everyone. Seeing Lais and Maxence interact got me thinking about seeing Sofiane and Eliott together on screen and now I want it even more tbh. Of course everyone knows that Axel ignored the rules and insisted on talking to everyone who had a question, went off stage and talked to the people who were left, tried to include everyone, in general he had a really big role yesterday. I got an ask saying he is a true born entertainer and that's true, he really is (I will answer that ask later I promise, I am just way behind tbh sorryyy).

After the panel was the group photo with the skam france cast. The chaotic energy was off the chart. Especially Axel and Maxence, I saw Maxence bite some girls tag that was around her neck for the picture lmao. They kept cheering the people on who came for their picture, it was adorable. When it was my turn I stood between Axel and Maxence and ugh, just, it was great okay. I said thank you when I got my picture, and Maxence went: nooo, thank yOuUuU (you know the voice he sometimes uses? Yeah) what a sweetheart tbh.

After this there was a looooot of waiting for me. The only thing I had left was the autographs and selfies (this was one event) and that could not start before all the group photos were done, and they went on for way too long. That just means the organization sold too many or didn't calculate the right amount of time it would take. I managed to catch some of the skam og panel and italia, but not all of it, and tbh it's all a blurr because I was busy with processing everything haha.

Finally it was time for the autographs, and the line was looong. I had the pleasure of seeing Axel carry Lais to the tables up close and personal, what a legend. The times I fondly shook my head with a grin on my face yesterday because of that chaotic king are countless. Just before I was almost at the end of the line, they cut us off because they needed to start the closing ceremony (for lack of a better description). Luckily they wrote numbers on our hands so we didn't have to wait all the way back in line again, because after the ceremony they would get back to it. This wasn't in the schedule, it was suppose to be over, hence closing ceremony, so the skam france cast stayed behind way longer than planned. The closing ceremony was very emotional, most of the cast got tears in their eyes as people shared their stories. Not everything was translated but you could still tell it meant a lot to them. Not to mention the amount of money they managed to raise with the convention. Truly amazing. Of course we all saw the cast go absolutely nuts to one direction lmao, that was a treat to see after such a long day. Idk how they kept up their energy, especially Axel who seems to be inhuman tbh. He never seemed very tired, you could see it a bit in his face but he powered on and I love him for that. The rest of the cast was definitely more visibly tired, some more than others of course. Finally we got back to the autographs, and still it was a long wait. I think we were there for nearly 2 hours and I only got to Marilyn, Lais, Axel and Maxence. By then it was 21:00 and I could barely stand. I only ate two mini croissants for breakfast and had a few handful of nuts during the day. I wasn't hungry but that still probably wasn't very smart of me. I kind of regret not staying to get the other autographs as well, but I was truly spend. Lais is as much a ray of sunshine as he is on TV, he is super nice and thankful, as is Marilyn. They were kind to everyone. That's something that I can say about the whole cast: everywhere I looked, I saw happy cast members who were touched by every single person who come up to them. Amazing really.

I'm not gonna lie, I was looking forward to getting to Axel the most. Anybody who follows me will not be surprised by this. So let me tell you a little bit about it. Axel gives the best hugs, is kind, is soft, calls you by your name, explains to you that he will read your letter later and carefully because he reads every one of them (I assured him that I am aware of that and very thankful) and that he wants to take his time with it to be able respond to it (which is not something I expect or even want, I just wanted to thank him and tell him how great he is, no response necessary). When I said it's been a long day he said no no no no, it's been a cool day, and I think he really means it. He was so full of energy after that long a day. He is so happy whenever he sees someone he remembers. And when I asked for a hug he said pffff of course!!! Did I mention he winked at me? Yeah. I really thought I could not love him more than I did but I do. I'm so grateful to have been able to meet him and talk to him and ugh ugh just, I can die happy now.

Maxence was really tired and stressed by the time I got to him and he took a smoke break just before. They warned us to keep it short because it was taking too long, so I did. I gave him the letter I wrote and he thanked me and we took some selfies. He was very nice but you could tell it was a lot for him, and that's very understandable.

After that we went back to the hotel and I literally could not even form proper sentences anymore. We didn't get any dinner, we just talked for a bit to let it all sink in and then we went to bed.

Tbh, it's still a bit like a dream when I think back on it. It's a good thing I have pictures because otherwise I wouldn't believe it myself. I love this cast and this show and the crew too of course, I am so happy I went and the next time I get the slightest change to see them again I will take it without a doubt. They are all amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

BnHA Smash!! 01 and 02: Smash!!Might is a Fucking Menace

okay, so. I have about a million other things I should be doing instead, including (1) responding to asks and/or finishing in-progress metas, (2) reading Vigilantes, and last but not least, (3) actually making a dent in the ever-increasing backlog of Actual Work That I Really Should Be Doing Instead.

so naturally I’m procrastinating by taking my first stab at reading BnHA’s cute 4-panel omake spinoff series, BnHA Smash!! IT JUST MAKES SENSE. look, I have exactly one thing I felt like actually doing and not procrastinating today, so I might as well do the thing. basically it’s my attention span’s world and I’m just living in it.

anyway! so apparently this series was scanlated by good ol’ Fallen Angels. that’s right; prepare yourselves for some very creative cursing, fellas. other background info for anyone who, like me, is unfamiliar with this spin-off: this series debuted on November 9, 2015, a little over a year after the original series. said original series was currently at chapter 66, meaning the Final Exam arc was just wrapping up.

so now that we’re all properly oriented, let me go over a few disclaimers real quick and then we’ll get started!

all comments are my unspoiled reactions from my initial readthrough of the chapter. I did a quick edit for grammar and clarity afterward, and added a few ETAs in the process, but aside from that there are no changes.

I’m aware that not everyone may be familiar with Smash!! even if they’ve read/watched the original series, so I’ve tried to make this recap comprehensible even if you haven’t read the spin-off. that being said, it’s probably more enjoyable if you have, so you can either purchase the first volume from Viz here, or read the chapter online (I don’t want to link directly, but the spin-off is available on most of the usual sites. literally just google “read mha” and you’ll find some good options).

this readthrough contains a handful of sorta-kinda spoilers for the BnHA manga, although there are no direct spoilers. just an indirect reference to a joke in chapter 242, as well as a reference to a theory which as of now is in no way canon. but just to be on the safe side I’m posting a heads-up.

and I think that’s it! so here we go.

so we’re opening with a brief summary of the series. people have superpowers and shit’s nuts. you know the drill

there’s also a brief description of the way that the superhero economy works, complete with Mt. Lady’s employees unionizing and demanding better pay

this is one of the reasons why I had difficulty reading Vigilantes too, tbh. those early chapter scans were, uh. but at least Vigilantes has a Viz scanlation too. I don’t want to spend 10 bucks just to read one volume of this, but we’ll see. anyways

also 12,800 yen is about $118 USD, which is honestly a really good deal for a year’s worth of textbooks. he got three boxes of books! I just googled the average cost of college textbooks, and the google article said the average student spends about $1200 a year. so this is a fucking steal tbh

I’m not clear on how much of this spin-off can actually be considered canon. my understanding is that it is Horikoshi-reviewed and approved, even though he doesn’t actually write it. but it’s obviously a humor series, so a lot of it is just going to be jokes. that being said, I think my approach is going to be “if it’s not completely ridiculous and doesn’t contradict the actual manga, go ahead and consider it canon”

(ETA: I might change this up after reading the first two chapters. most of these strips would have terrifying implications if they were actually canon sob.)

anyhoo, this actually does contradict the manga in that we saw this encounter play out very differently. but I kind of wish it was canon regardless because looool. these cocky preschoolers and their fucking Battle Tears

the next comic is Mt. Lady accidentally stepping on a guy’s face and the guy being way too fucking happy about it (read: having a fucking nosebleed and taking an upskirt shot). we’re just going to skip this entirely. this is another problem I was having with Vigilantes too. you know, for all my complaints about Mineta and such, BnHA as a whole is so much tamer than it could be, and I need to give Horikoshi credit for that. he mostly knows where to draw the line, and to his credit he’s also much, much better about this kind of thing than he was when he first started. maybe Mineta’s standings in the character poll results are helping to clue him in

anyway, I’ll mostly just skip past the iffy stuff because I don’t have patience for it and there’s still plenty of other stuff to cover. so on to the next strip

which features a bunch of reporters fawning over Mt. Lady’s flashy quirk while Kamui Woods laments in the shadows

and yet we know this kid will have a prominent rise within the next six months. it’s so strange to revisit the start of the series and see how much things have changed in such a short time

my biggest takeaway from this is the fact that the entire second half of chapter one takes place after All Might has emerged from a fucking sewer. I forgot all about that somehow. or maybe it never fully processed until just now. but omg. this entire chapter must have smelled so fucking bad. these poor kids

btw, friendly reminder (and I think this is something that was actually pointed out to me after one of the recaps; that’s one of my favorite things about doing these) that All Might, after saving Deku, actually read his notebook before signing it. super-fast, I guess, because he’s the best. but yeah, so he knew exactly how smart and observant Deku was, and how much he wanted to be a hero. his decision to pick him as his successor didn’t just come out of the blue; even before the “my body moved on its own” thing, there was a lot Deku had going in his favor. this is one of those little details of which BnHA has so many, and which I love

ngl this version of the series would have been amazing in its own way. but yeah. so this is why we clearly can’t assume everything in Smash!! is canon lol. but I can already tell I am going to enjoy the shit out of this series

now All Might has Done The Thing and saved my boys, and now Mt. Lady is helping with the cleanup. scooping up all the bits of sludge and putting it in trash bags

-- shit. okay, you know what? this first chapter has been a real in-your-face reminder of the fact that the sludge monster was not made of cute sparkly 2018-trending-fad slime, but was in fact composed of RAW FUCKING SEWAGE. (ETA: to be clear, I’m pretty sure the joke in this strip is that she accidentally picked up dog-doo during her clean-up. but still, the fact that it was indistinguishable from the rest of the gunk speaks for itself.) I think I forced myself to gloss over this fact originally due to the nope factor. but just. Izuku and Katsuki were both choking to death on this shit?? and just, how the fuck did they make it out of this not traumatized

and also, like. All Might was straight up going to leave Izuku alone afterwards, just, “well enjoy your autograph, fine citizen” and blasting off out of there. and everyone fucking saw Katsuki almost suffocate to death later on, and after giving him a pat on the back they fucking let him go off on his own too? and you can’t even make the argument that this was Just Another Day In Quirk Society either, because more than a year later, Katsuki is still a bona fide fucking celebrity from the media coverage of his attack. it clearly was not something that happens every day. in conclusion, these kids are resilient as fuck, and thank god for that because people apparently just do not give a shit, holy christ

anyway. at least Mt. Lady had gloves

Opinion on m&m? Mine personally is that they should remain friends after this hook up since it’s been established that Michael and Alex have a cosmic like romance, she would end up hurt otherwise

my genuine and honest opinion on michael/maria is sort of all over the place WHICH IS WHY THIS POST IS SO LONG IM SORRY, but essentially it’s this:

out of context of what is happening in the show, i think the actors have a really nice chemistry, look hot together and i would watch them make out for 5 hours straight just out of standard human interest

i think the relationship between michael and maria is also fun - they’ve got the banter, she does not need him and he’s really more of an inconvenience to her half the time, but she likes him and he likes her. like, it’s a good and interesting base point for a ship, so i’m into that aspect of it

like, if you took them out of roswell and stuck them in a show together with this exact relationship i’d be out here like WHAT IF U GOT MARRIED

within the context of the show (or: taking into account the ‘alex’ of it all) - alex being one of maria’s best friends and michael and alex honestly having this frankly insane love story

they fell in love ten years ago without really even knowing each other and then didn’t stop loving each other for that whole time

which could be… honestly, imo, the basis for the ship you know you’re supposed to like but aren’t really into - but it’s saved, i think, by a few things: namely the actors’ chemistry and just how likeable both alex and michael are individually and how shitty their lives are and how much you genuinely want them to be happy

plus, they’re really good at looking desperately in love with each other

like, i felt that

and i think… my need for alex manes to be happy supercedes my enjoyment of michael/maria and also i think the way they’ve told michael/alex’s story so far also supercedes my enjoyment of the potential of michael/maria

like.... if m/m got together for realsies, i think my sadness on behalf of alex would dull my happiness at getting to watch michael and maria fall in love? whereas maria ain’t into it like that yet so for her to have a casual hook up and then move on is fine, bc she’s not getting hurt

and maria deluca deserves only nice things and good romance and happiness and hot sex

and so i love how they played it in the last episode, because i think… again, the chemistry between michael and maria is there, so the boning was inevitable imo. i like that the context was very clear cut: this happened but it’s nothing more to either of them

alex officially drew a line under his and michael’s relationship and michael’s response to this was literally to act like something of a fucking lunatic

or like a precocious 5 year old boy who you can’t put around adults because he just starts acting up lmao

literally aggressively hitting on maria for funsies bc #wildcard #nihilsmrules

and maria is going through such shit with her mother - she had this hope in her heart and it was crushed

and as liz says, maria deluca saves herself - she forces them all to try and have a good night

and they’re both pretty chill about it, because as i say, the feelings really didn’t run deeper than being drunk and sort of miserable and blowing off some steam

and i love that for them and i think it’s super important that they get to keep interacting and become friends and genuinely care about one another, bc their interactions and relationship are wonderful

but also…. alex is out here shutting down government operations and changing his whole fucking life because he’s so stupidly in love with michael

michael and alex would fuckin die for each other yk

michael calling them ‘cosmic’ all casually and without a trace of irony and alex literally finding out that michael and maria banged, having that ready excuse to walk away again and saying fuck it and just

staying and expressing his genuine feelings instead

and they both… care so deeply for one another. they respect each other. their love story is insane. plus there’s something weirdly compelling about this idea that these two people feel this way about one another without actually knowing each other

and realising that and wanting to take the time to get to know one another as people

i kind of love that

i mean, it’s fucking ridiculous, but i love it

their romance is so epic and the performances make it genuinely believable (which i do think is so hard to pull off considering) (it would be very easy to make them a lot less enjoyable imo) and the characters being wonderful make it something you want to root for imo, so like

as much as i would happily read 100 au’s about maria and michael falling in love, in terms of the show my heart really still lies with malex

this doesn’t mean i don’t want 50 gifsets of them making out though, just to make that clear

Uhhhh, when I first started was long enough ago and the community was so different a lot of those lessons no longer apply. I wish when I finally jumped over to Tumblr I’d realized quicker how the new like....basic ways of meeting people and posting and all worked, which was mostly just a “calm down and go with the flow more, let go of your stupid rigid old habits” lmaooo.

But ummm, not usually. No. Most of my drama has been either A) me posting the very very softest, most diluted version of barely-touching on my politics and my real goddamn life and people being fuckin butthurt as hell about or B) cutting people who were toxic and draining out of my life. So.

13. Have you ever thought about leaving rp? What caused it? What changed your mind?

Yeah. Once I actually did — when I started college I just didn’t have the time, so I peaced from the larger community to just write with close friends for a while. I’ve also considered leaving the T.umblr RPC a few times, but really only because of long bad depressive episodes. Coming back and “not wanting to literally die irl ha Ha” and catching up with my drafts gets me back on track lmao.

14. Do you think rp has had a positive or negative affect on your life or you as a person?

Positive! Sometimes I worry that I spend too much time wrapped up in fiction and miss my real life, but I’ve learned to keep my time more separate so now it’s just good to have a healthy hobby that makes me happy. Also I’m definitely a much better writer for it, and there a lot of networking skills I think translate to real workplace skills so it’s 👌

15. How has rp changed you personally?

See above, tbh. And it gives me a lot of good outlets for writing ideas that would otherwise stew in my head until I hated myself for never ever writing any lmao. It’s good.

16. If you could change one thing about rp on tumblr, what would it be? Why?

Oh, I dunno. I wish I could post replies from mobile more easily, god. That’d keep me a lot more on top of my drafts lmao.

Ehh. Not really. Sometimes I’ll follow a friend of a friend despite lack of interest just because, like.... My friends are smart and good, maybe I’m just not getting the right “vibe” from their blog as who really they are. Sometimes that just means we never click and I unfollow them later. Or sometimes @rumdaydreams drags me straight to mutual hell and we write 20,000 unfinished bullshit and meet irl and she actually talks me into wholeass new blogs and muses. So, you know. Mix bag.

22. What would make you block someone?

Red flags for manipulation and lowgrade emotional a.buse, especially ones I viscerally feel in my stomach from previous experiences. Obvious r.ight-leaning politics ( Weirdly, I’m not particularly comfortable around people who don’t think I or my friends deserve to be treated like human beings! A character quirk, haha! )

Also ngl sometimes I block people just to remind myself I’ve followed them before and I don’t wanna re-follow them six times and look like I’m trying to intentionally harass them. My memory is bad but the block button always knows, lmao. 😅

23. Have you ever stolen something from someone else?

Not intentionally — I try very hard not to steal hc from duplicates or take plots without asking. But, y’know, sometimes an idea sticks in your head and you eventually just forget where it originally came from.

Not that I’m aware of.

25. Are you open to duplicates? Why / why not?

Absolutely, for the most part! I like seeing other perspectives, and especially since @thewrongsorts is such a bigass multi it lowkey just makes my life easier.

There are a few exceptions — less because they’re duplicates and more because there are hc/fanon I just......dislike enough I don’t wanna write with them. Not a feeling that’s limited to duplicates tbh.

26. How do you feel about vague posting?

Ehhh. It’s like not a great thing, but I get the appeal. I tend to unfollow if someone posts a lot of it because then they’re just passive-aggressive as a person, but the occasional vagueblog I don’t mind. Sometimes you gotta get shit off your chest but you don’t wanna make it a wholeass call-out, I get it.

27. Do you follow people even if they don’t follow you back?

Generally I unfollow. I’m here to write, if we’re not interacting it’s clogging my dash. ( Honestly I unfollow mutuals eventually if we never write.... ) But very occasionally someone’s got such good #takes and hc that I stick around just bc I stan.

When was the last time you realized something about yourself, your abilities, or your financial situation that left you feeling disappointed? >> I’m not sure. I feel like I’ve got a pretty solid perception of my financial situation, and considering it’s the best it’s been since I’ve hit adulthood, I can’t imagine being too disappointed (except when new video games come out lmao but half the time I buy them anyway because... like, I can, for once, and my brain goblins can’t prevent me from treating myself forever!). As far as my mental state is concerned, Can Calah won’t let me beat myself up about that, so entertaining any sort of disappointment in myself is out of the question.

2. Generally, are you more likely to blame others or yourself for problems you experience? >> Generally, I’m more likely to blame myself than others. But I don’t think that’s any better than blaming others. I am as much a product of my environment and the other people in my life as I am a product of whatever wild magical shit happens to make brains the way they are. I can control what I can control, but a lot of things about my life are out of my control. Finding things to place blame on really just doesn’t help me fix things, so I don’t care who’s to blame, I care how it can be fixed/helped.

3. What is one thing about your life that you don’t ever see changing, even if you might wish it would? >> I probably will never be a person that is gainfully employed or self-sufficient. And, honestly, that would hurt me more if I didn’t have someone who is gainfully employed and self-sufficient who is willing to use that for both of our benefit. I was basically convinced that everyone in this country is out for whatever they can get for themselves, and if I can’t keep up with that, then I’m not worth keeping around. I’d been convinced that people saw me as a leech who just existed to suck up all their resources, and had nothing of value to offer in return. It’s a very insidious mentality to have absorbed, but the longer I’m here, the less power it has over me, so I guess I do have her to thank for that.

4. At what point in your life have you been the most social or had the most friendships? And at which point have you been the least social? >> I guess when I lived in NYC, in general. I had a couple of persistent social circles: the Streetwork LES crew (homeless/destitute youth who went to the drop-in center on the Lower East Side called Streetwork), and the vamp scene crew (self-styled “vampyres” who participated in a big underground subculture, subdivided themselves into Houses and Clans, and threw a lot of parties). Most of those people weren’t what I’d call my friends, per se -- we were very friendly, sure, and I had a lot of good times with them, but most of those people didn’t really measure up to what I’d want out of friendship (and the rest were just casual acquaintances). I guess now is when I’ve been the least social; I know almost no one out here and the people I do know are really just... friendly acquaintances, I guess? Social-media buddies? We don’t really know things about each other, you know, like friends do... I don’t know. At this age, I don’t know how friendships form and I don’t know how to find out. The Internet is where my friends are now and I guess that’s just the way it has to be until I figure out something else (or until I move to a less socially-uptight area).

5. Do you prefer to have a few close friends or a bunch of random acquaintances? Which would describe what you have now? >> I’d like to have a mix of both. I just like to have people to be social with, in a variety of ways. Like I had in New York... Right now, I don’t know what I have. I’m kinda off this subject because it depresses me, ngl, no offence to anyone.

6. Do you journal? Generally, what do you write about? Do you find it helpful to get your thoughts out that way, or do you prefer another form of self-expression? >> I used to journal. I used to be really into journalling. But I guess, instead of trying to stick to the same practices I used to do, maybe I ought to recognise that my instinct to journal has been diverted into other forms of media -- like keeping a tumblr, and taking surveys. These all exist as records of my life -- as proof that I was here, that I existed, that these things happened to me. The internet enables me to keep a multimedia record of my existence, and that’s actually more than I could expect from just one paper journal, or whatever. Journalling (on various journal sites especially) was indeed a helpful way for me to get my thoughts out, but I guess now I just talk to Can Calah instead. I think I got put off writing my thoughts down because my instinct is to keep stuff like that public, because it’s all me and I am an open book, but then people (not just one person, either, this is just a thing people do in general, and I guess it’s understandable but oh my god) would get upset about stuff later and it’d just get messy. So I got put off being emotional on the internet because it backfired on me a lot lmao. I’m working on getting over it.

7. Do you like eating foods that other people have cooked for you, or do you prefer to have control over your meals? >> I do like eating food that other people have cooked for me -- as long as it’s food I like. And as long as it isn’t like... some kind of social trap. Like, I was annoyed with Sparrow’s mother for a few months because she wasn’t respecting my boundaries and always had some stupid shit to say about me to Sparrow and I don’t play that fucking shit. So I basically stopped being nice to her. And she kept trying to do stuff like... like Easter dinner, she made it “Southern-style” and made collards and banana pudding and shit. And like, this is a Midwestern White(tm) we’re talking about. That’s not the kind of stuff she naturally makes for any occasion. And she told Sparrow that she’d asked around (I guess at her job??? or something?) about what Black people eat on holidays??? And Sparrow’s like “but you could have just asked Logan if there was any dishes he wanted to be served”. Like, it’s not fucking rocket science, I’m right here. But she’ll always do shit like that, trying to ingratiate herself, when it’s not that fucking hard!!!! Don’t touch me, don’t talk about me to my fiancée behind my back, and ask me things directly!!!! WOW! SO HARD! (Also, the banana pudding was a fucking miss because bananas are one of like 3 foods on this entire planet that I don’t like. Which... she would have known... if she’d asked me first. But no, it was just all “oh I did this, I did that, he’s not grateful” bitch I DIDN’T ASK FOR ANY OF THIS. STOP IT.) Anyway, shit like that I hate. But people making food for me in general is great, because I hate cooking.

8. Have you ever been somewhere and REALLY didnt like a food that you were expected to eat? How did you deal with this? Are you someone who is likely to suck it up and be polite or refuse and save your taste buds? >> Yeah, that same Easter holiday I just mentioned. The collards were terrible, the fish was meh, and everything else was food I don’t care for (cheesy potatoes and that kinda starch-heavy fare). So I basically drank wine and played on my phone the whole time. As you can see, politeness is not something I feel compelled to give if I don’t want to.

9. What is one way in which you compare yourself to others? In this comparison, do you regard yourself as better or worse off than the people to whom you usually do the comparing? >> Well, I compare myself to other fanwriters a lot, because it’s something I can’t help. I don’t think I’m a bad writer. I’ve been writing literally all of my conscious life, and I’ve watched myself progress. I’m generally pretty fair about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. When my confidence is where it’s supposed to be, and I’ve been writing often, I turn out some pretty good shit. I like my work. But my confidence took a big hit at some point lately, and I’m not sure why. All I know is that I feel like my offerings to fandom are like... boring to people, or not interesting enough, or??? I don’t know. And I feel like I don’t have any stories worth telling anymore. These are all feelings and really not based in any sort of reality, because my friends and partner tell me they like my work and my OCs, and tumblr as a whole is so astoundingly saturated with fanwork that the lack of interest most likely has nothing to do with my content and more to do with the fact that the market is full up and people don’t have time. I know all that, but when I sit down and go “okay, self, let’s write a fic”, all these mental blocks land in my path and I get too tired to deal with it and just scroll my dash instead. I don’t know what to do, but I guess I’ll just truck along until something in me changes. :/

10. What is something you’ve been particularly grateful for lately? >> That while my thanatophobia is nowhere near fixed, it’s been a little quieter lately. I’ve been able to sleep, and being able to sleep makes a lot of other things more manageable by default, so it’s like an ouroboros (in this case, a good one; but when I can’t sleep then it becomes a terrible one, lol). I’m using the lull to try to install some better programming, some less spiral-y thought patterns, that sort of thing. I don’t know if it’s helping, but I’ve literally got more to gain than I stand to lose, so.

11. What kind of change or opportunity would be the biggest help in your life right now? >> A therapist. But... like, one I feel like I can build a relationship with, not one who I dread seeing (which has been every therapist I’ve ever had). But like, besides just the benefit to my mental health... the clock is really ticking; recertification for SSI will most likely be happening within the next year and I have no psych team. How will they know how to judge my case if I’m not in any kind of treatment? That’s how people end up cut off. :T

12. Is there one emotion that you experience more often than any other? Is there an emotion you rarely ever experience? >> I experience amusement most often, probably. If that’s an emotion. An emotion I rarely experience is... shame? Most likely.

13. How mature would you say you are? What qualities do you think make a person mature? >> I don’t know how to gauge maturity, least of all my own. What is my basis for comparison? Adulthood as it is in modern USian society is a crock, most of the time -- the way people understand it is all kinds of flawed. What are our passage rites? Who are our elders? Where do we learn how to be a productive member of our community (and not just a cog in the capitalist machine)? The people we look up to are often no better off than we are. Individualism as a social standard (as opposed to the understanding of oneself as an individual) and the division of the community structure has ruined our ability to understand ourselves in relation to other people properly. What is maturity, in a society like this? What is my role in my society, and how well am I fulfilling it? What have I learned about life, and how much of it is truly worth knowing and passing on? Questions, questions, questions.

14. When was the last time you believed there might be something seriously medically wrong with you? What was the ultimate diagnosis? >> I mean, I always think my body’s about to fall apart, even though I’m aware that’s illogical and just a byproduct of thanatophobia. I don’t think I’ve ever thought anything was seriously medically wrong with me, because generally nothing is.

15. What is one illness you are afraid of having? Do you know anyone who has faced this illness? >> Anything that involves degeneration of the brain (Alzheimer’s and the sort). And no, I don’t know anyone personally with anything like that.

16. How do you tend to behave when you’re sick? What kinds of things do you like people to do for you, if anything, to help you feel better? >> I’m so rarely ill that I’m not even sure, lmao. I think it’d depend on what kind of sick I am, because different illnesses require different methods of care.

17. If you’re someone who rarely eats breakfast, is there a reason for this? If you do usually eat breakfast, are there any other meals you avoid or skip for any reason, and why so? >> I mean, I eat when I’m hungry, and I don’t care what the time of day is (as long as it’s not too close to bedtime). So I don’t really label my meals using “breakfast”, “lunch”, and so on.

18. When was the last time you did something you were proud of? Were other people proud of you as well? Does it matter to you whether or not other people care about your accomplishments, or is your own satisfaction enough? >> Probably finishing some questline in a video game. And no, I mean, I didn’t really tell anyone or anything. It’s not really an important thing. Woo, big deal, video games, who cares.

19. What is your least favorite thing about the season you’re currently experiencing? Are you okay with most types of weather, or are you only happy under certain conditions? >> I don’t like sweating or feeling lethargic because of heat / humidity. I’m usually okay with most types of weather as long as they’re not extreme, but if there are long stretches of cloudy / rainy days I feel pretty diminished and gloomy-doomy.

20. Have you made any changes to your style or “look” lately? How often do you change your appearance, hairstyle, fashion, etc? Or is it a pretty constant thing? >> No, not really. I don’t know what to change. My executive function when it comes to appearance is like... in negative integers. I just... I lost the knack for it. Whatever.

21. What are some things you do to feel pampered? >> I’m not sure I ever feel pampered, lmao. I tried to think about it and I just got this tangled ball of wires regarding like, stuff I can’t even explain quickly, so I’m just gonna move on.

22. What was the last thing you felt hopeful about? Do you think there’s a good chance of whatever-it-is working out in your favor, or not so much? >> Well, the last thing I felt hopeful about was getting out to see The Equalizer 2 today, and then the whole debit card thing happened, so I actually had my hopes dashed. And all because I did what I was supposed to do! But doing what I was supposed to do means that now I have to wait for a new debit card, which means I can’t go to the movies today (I can’t get to the bank and just get cash, which is what the lady on the phone said to do! I don’t fucking drive!!!). So, you know. Right now I’m just focusing on salvaging my day and my mood.

23. In what ways are you prone to black and white thinking? In what ways do you see more in terms of color or gray? >> I don’t know, I’m mostly a grey person by necessity or by design or whatever. Sometimes I’ll think “I’m a complete fucking idiot” because I did one dumb thing, or something, but like... it’s just because I’m upset about the one thing and can’t properly process that one thing at the moment without like, making a mountain out of it. That’s why I just try to distract myself until the feeling passes, because that’s the only way to get my brain to move on.

24. Are there types of people you will simply never understand (not necessarily ~empathize with) no matter how hard you might try? Are there people you seem to understand almost immediately? >> Well, yeah, definitely. I mean, I can’t possibly understand everyone. I don’t expect myself to, either. I guess I understand people who are like me? Like, that’s logical, right? I don’t know.

25. When was the last time you tried something you’ve never tried before? How likely are you to break from your routine and try new things? >> The only thing I can think of recently is playing Journey, because I’d never played that before. I don’t know how often I try new things, especially since a lot of “trying new things” involves either money I don’t have or access I don’t have.

26. Have you ever “recovered” from anything? What does “recovery” mean or look like to you? >> I don’t think so. I think mental recovery is a long-term shifting of paradigms and changing of perspective that can only be truly comprehended in retrospect. I think in that respect, I’ll be recovering for a long time. This is why I prefer the small-scale focus rather than the wide-scale focus, because using the wide-scale focus too much makes everything feel bleak and futile -- we may have a more complex consciousness and a more complex understanding of time and space, but I think exercising that cosmic viewpoint frequently can be really taxing on the brain (which manifests in things like existential despair, thanatophobia, etc). So instead of thinking about “recovery”, I think about being good to myself today. And that’s that.

27. What are some ways your childhood differed from those of others around you? Do you think this difference was harmful or advantageous in the long run? >> Hm. I was raised as a “gifted child” with all the ridiculous bullshit that entailed. I was sheltered to an absurd degree for a modern child (like, I didn’t watch cartoons and didn’t know what actual video games [as opposed to computer games] were until I was almost an adult). I didn’t make my first friend until sixth grade, and I was so socially undeveloped that I ended up losing her before the year was out. I didn’t know how to talk to people, I was sullen and withdrawn, I lived in my headspace and didn’t bother with the actual world around me. My curiosity as a child was severely blunted by alienation (I guess I’m making up for that lack of curiosity now, huh). I was pretty obviously not a normal child, but no one could see that?? Or didn’t care?? As long as I got good grades and didn’t cut up in class, no one cared about my development, I guess. I think the nature of my childhood didn’t do me any favours, but I also think that I’ve done the best I could with what I had (which wasn’t much). I eventually had to teach myself socialisation by observation, for example, and I think I did a decent enough job. I can’t blame my parent and the adults around him for my stunted development forever. Now it’s my responsibility.

28. What is one thing you are really good at compared to most people? What about one thing you are really bad at compared to others? >> I really don’t know how to determine this. I think it’s too easy to judge oneself unfairly in comparison to other people, so I try not to do it on purpose, you dig.

29. Do you think people are “all good” or “all bad”? What would make someone qualify as “bad” or “good” to you, or do you simply not think in those terms? >> No, I don’t think that. I don’t even think of people in terms of “bad” or “good”, unless we’re literally playing a Fable game where you have an actual “good/evil” meter. Even then, I’ve spent most of my time in that fandom unpacking that stupid fucking spectrum and writing the characters with the nuance they deserve. So, you know. I’m pretty sick of good/evil or good/bad as a whole. People are people, and that’s that on that.

30. When was the last time you did something out in nature? Do you notice a dip in your mood when you don’t get enough of the Great Outdoors? >> I guess that’d be on the Fourth, when we went to Creekside Park to eat lunch. I... really don’t spend a whole lot of time outside anymore, and I think it’s directly related to how much I don’t like where I live. I’ve tried on many occasions to be more enthusiastic about something, anything, about Grand Rapids, Michigan, and I really fucking can’t. I can’t do it. And I’m tired of trying to make myself do it. So now I just don’t do shit. Which isn’t any better, I know. I’m just trying to make do, here.

WELL. it’s me again. i’m sam ( she / her, 21, est timezone ) and i also play parker! this is sky who i’ve had for a while but haven’t really done much with bc my muse for him hasn’t been the best, however i think i’m all sorted with him now so, character info under the cut! tbh it’s literally the exact same intro as before with just a few slight changes but feel free to still give it a read and please message me if you’d like to plot because i would absolutely love that!

FIRST. let’s just. let’s get it out of the way right here and now that this is a sideblog so i will be messing up and posting shit to the wrong accounts sometimes bc i’m dumb. let’s laugh abt it now so we don’t have to do it later. k cool we can carry on now

「 CODY CHRISTIAN, CISMALE, 25, PARAMORE. 」┈ did you read that latest viral gossip issue on SKY ARLO? he is the DRUMMER in BETTER NOW, one of my favorite ALT ROCK groups. they’ve been releasing music for FOUR YEARS now, but viral gossip has only been talking about them for the last TWO YEARS. get this, i think i heard HE’S THE ILLEGITIMATE CHILD OF A WEALTHY PUBLIC FIGURE. they’re known as the CALIGINOUS of the music industry, since they have a rep for being TRENCHANT but SELF - SERVING, but who knows. maybe that will change once they become #1.

born and raised deep in the swamplands of louisiana, sky’s only parent was a single mom who was nowhere near old enough or prepared enough to have a kid, tbh. she did sincerely try to take care of him at first but she had a drug problem that got very out of hand very quickly. sky was barely even five years old when the state stepped in and had him placed into the foster system.

has the slightest of southern accents but if you point it out he will deny it

will occasionally speak a little cajun french though bc we stan a multilingual grump

spent the rest of his childhood without a family or stable home. he was shuffled all over the state — placed in group homes, orphanages, and many different foster homes which were unfortunately very neglectful and unsafe sometimes. by his preteen years he was practically living on the streets of new orleans, survival instincts sharply honed.

he learns fast and had very quickly become an expert thief, pickpocket, and con artist, but that doesn’t mean he never got caught. he did. a lot. like his juvie record is longer than your arm

somehow still found time to experience your typical teenage first love resulting in unbearable heartbreak with a girl who lived on the streets and ran scams just like him. it was a bonnie & clyde together forever type of romance until it wasn’t cause the girl shockingly ditched him while he was in serious trouble in order to save her own skin and he never saw her again

not long after that he turned seventeen AND THEN SOMETHING SUPER IMPORTANT HAPPENED. by that i mean he was sought out by his social worker who then proceeded to 1) tell him his mother had died and 2) take him away to california because apparently there was a family out there who wanted to adopt him! and they did!

his new family wasn’t actually new though because the man who adopted him was his biological father. he and sky’s mother were lovers for the brief time wherein sky’s father was visiting louisiana in his late teen years but he left before ever finding out that he was going to have a child. he’d never stopped thinking about sky’s mom, however, so he’d do some digging every few years. of course by the time he finally did find her it was because of an obituary and then he’d heard about sky and just knew that this was his kid.

sky learned about all of this right away upon meeting his father and to say he didn’t take it very well is a MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT. he was furious. after all, his father had a whole new family! a wife and kids and a very prestigious job AND OH YEAH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO HIS NAME BUT HE’D NEVER HELPED SKY EVEN ONCE. it didn’t really help that he was clearly trying to make up for his absence in sky’s life by being present now that he had the opportunity and anyway, it turned out he had ulterior motives for that.

basically, a large part of his dad’s wealth was in fact inherited through the family. they’re all old money posh so finding out that the next family patriarch had an unknown son who was technically his firstborn was terrifying. blood or not, they couldn’t just hand centuries of traditions and carefully cultivated wealth over to a high school dropout living on the streets. so, sky’s dad was just keeping him close while he talked to lawyers about whether or not sky had any legitimate claim to anything owned by his family and of course, the sneaky street smart kid he is, sky figured out what was going on pretty quickly and bolted back to the streets.

he was still seventeen at the time and he’s lived in los angeles ever since but hasn’t had any contact with his father or seen a single penny of that family money

so yeah he’s illegitimate, no actual rights to their fortune

lived on the streets in los angeles for a while, but with a little hard work ( and a lot of thievery and conning ) he was eventually able to get himself a little apartment while working various jobs

nothing really stuck until better now, but when he first joined the band he’d literally never played the drums before. ever. not once before in his entire life. did he lie anyway and say that he was a Drumming Expert™ because he’d get paid to play gigs with them and happened to be broke af at the time? why yes he absolutely did

since then they switched lead singers with sweets having joined the band four years ago and they’ve released one album that was lit af! they’re currently in the middle of putting together their second album and since sky’s found out that he actually really loves drumming things have been pretty good for him. he lives in a nice apartment and finally has enough money to get by without conning or stealing. he still doesn’t really know how to deal with being a celebrity but tbh he actually adores the attention? he loves having fans? people in his life who seem to genuinely love and care about him? what is this new and exciting concept he’s confused but happy nonetheless

never ever talks about his dad / family though

as usual i was Extra™ and went off with the backstory stuff, but we can move onto personality now!

by default assumes that literally everyone he meets is going to betray him. is truly on some x files trust no one shit

except he does actually genuinely trust a few people for now i’m going to say just his bandmates since i imagine they’ve been through a lot together at this point but that’s open to expansion

street smart, charming, flirtatious ( especially around pretty girls ), witty, perspicacious, determined, tough, mistrustful, surly, reckless, uncouth, self-serving af sometimes

also v v sarcastic and STUBBORN

all of sky’s save his own skin above all else stuff? kind of a lie. he’s got a soft spot for people in need of help and though he might do it begrudgingly, sky often will actually put others before him.

the other personality traits i listed are pretty spot on though

literally always has his drumsticks with him and brings them everywhere. will drum on anything and everything until told to stop then he miiiight apologize? but go right back to doing it again not even five minutes later ngl

street smart af but book smart? not so much. he picks up on things pretty quickly but he’s still pretty dumb lmao and will in fact say some stupid shit at least 2932589843794836708 times a day

however he’s not always much of a talker. he’s gotta be in the mood bc if he isn’t but you try to have a convo with him he’s gonna be even more standoffish than usual

when he does talk though, sky is often sarcastic, pessimistic, and surly

he’s permanently grumpy

except he also has many soft spots that are very easy to find

TL;DR - louisiana born street smart drummer for better now with an accent he denies having and an extremely rich family who wants nothing to do with him but it wasn’t like he ever cared anyway. charming and flirtatious but also can be grumpy and pessimistic. expert pickpocket and con artist. has no idea how to handle being a celebrity but he not so secretly enjoys the love he gets from fans. has trouble trusting and allowing himself to get close to anyone & everyone.

OKAY HERE WE GO, all of the headcanon meme thing for Vando Althil! (All the other ones will be under the cut!)

1. Their physical weak spots

Definitely behind his knees. He’s a big guy, so hitting him there will cause him to fall HARD, and it’s difficult to recover from that when you’re his size. Plus, wearing plate armor contributes, making it more difficult to move - of course, he was a high ranking warrior before he was killed and risen as a death knight, so hitting him there is hard to say the least, but not impossible!

2. Their emotional/moral weak spots

Vando has battle protocols, but when he cares for someone, he is known to break his own rules - he also refuses to admit when he cares for someone, which can really come back to bite him.

3. Scars or painful spots

See the thing is I haven’t actually decided if Vando has scars yet or not. Given he was a warrior in his previously he should have SOME but his closest friend, Rusabar, was a restoration shaman when HE was alive... and ever since becoming a death knight, he’s grown all but immune to pain.

4. Best places to kiss on their body

His fingers, neck, and sternum/upper chest/collarbone area. He’s most receptive to kisses placed there. Biting those areas will make him especially aroused, ngl.

5. Guilty pleasures

Pain. Vando is a masochist (hence why BITING him gets arousal out of him LMAO). He is notorious for getting under the skin of others for the sole purpose of having them physically lash out at him. Naturally, this also means he deliberately takes hits in a fight.

6. Their vices (physical or emotional)

Vando lacks empathy, and to an extent sympathy. He cannot easily process the emotions of others, but at the very least understands when he has crossed a line. Generally, he does not make obvious attempts to amend these moments, due in part to his masochism; if he’s already hurt someone, then it becomes easier for him to entice them into attacking him depending on what he says.

7. Their tickle spots

He’s thick skinned, but if someone runs their fingers up and down his neck - particularly behind his ears - they will get a few twitches out of him, and if they continue, he will eventually start laughing. He reacts the same way if this action is performed on his ribs.

8. Bad memories/experiences

Not long before Arthas became the first death knight, Vando was forced to kill the love of his life. She was a night elf and had been captured by his tribe, and did not want to die at anyone’s hand but his. His relationship with her was not one that anyone knew of - not even Rusabar - but the last kiss he shared with her was filled with nothing but blood (this is also why he hates being kissed on the lips).

9. Humiliating memories

The above also served as a humiliating memory for him, especially since tensions between night elves and trolls were at their all-time high. He was avoided by other tribesmen, with really only Rusabar staying by his side. He takes pride in this moment now. THERE WAS PROBABLY FUNNIER TIMES FROM HIS CHILDHOOD BUT I AIN’T GOT MUCH ON HIS CHILDHOOD ATM, ONLY HIS ADULT LIFE RIP (actually I can guarantee that this man did some DUMB ASS SHIT when he was a child / teenager and you can bet your ass Rusabar will tell stories at length and Vando WILL BE TRYING TO MAKE HIM SHUT UP THE WHOLE TIME).

10. Fears/phobias

He IS afraid of admitting that he cares about others, or that he feels any emotion at all. It does not help that he was a death knight under the Lich King’s control for YEARS until Arthas was finally defeated, and so believes that, as a death knight, he should not and is not allowed to feel.

11. Bad or petty habits

He has a bad habit of not caring who he sleeps with really, due in part to the fact that he stopped caring about himself and gave up his convictions after he was raised as a death knight. Additionally, he is prone to digging his fingernails into his arms, especially when he is in a stressful situation and “needs” the pain to distract his thoughts. He will sometimes draw blood when he does this.

12. Grudges and vendettas

The only time Vando will develop a grudge / have a vendetta is when someone he has genuinely come to care for is threatened. This is especially true if Rusabar is targeted. He does not take well to anyone going after his dear friend.

13. What gets them flustered

If he catches on to the fact that a woman is courting him, he gets flustered very quickly, especially since courting generally falls to the man (not that Vando cares much for traditions. It’s more of a subconscious ‘that’s my job’ thing). Also toying with his hands and offering no explanation when he asks what you’re doing, OR kissing the back of his hand can cause his train of thought to derail. Gentle affection can garner this response too.

14. Ingrained habits/forces of habit

Because he was once a warrior, Vando tends to assume command or bark orders, especially if the appointed leader is soft-spoken and/or has been injured (or, has already fallen in combat).

15. What it takes to make them cry

Kindness. Vando does not expect it nor does he believe he deserves it, especially given how he treats others. Buying him gifts at any point may also make him teary, but this will especially happen if someone buys him something for his birthday or during Winter’s Veil.

16. Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’

Unknown to all (at least, until Rusabar shows up in the story but I digress), Vando had committed suicide shortly after he was forced to kill his love. He had always been teetering on the depressed spectrum, but was kept up by Rusabar. Unfortunately, even the strongest fall, and Vando took his own life when his love’s sister attempted to kill him herself. He only avoided anyone knowing by using her dagger to slit open his stomach and then wedging it back into her hand before he let himself bleed out.

17. Regrets

He could never return Rusabar’s love for him (while he loved and loves his friend, he does not love Rusabar, though Rusabar does love him). To an extent, he also regrets killing himself because Rusabar’s grief over Vando’s death is what ultimately also led to Rusabar falling in battle (his thoughts were all distracted and he wasn’t paying attention until it was too late).

18. Things they’ll never admit

He will never admit that he has a sweet tooth. Nope. Not this man. He will admit that he cries like a baby when someone gives him presents but not that he likes sweets. The only sweet he will admit to like is pumpkin pie. He loves pumpkins.

19. People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them

Vando is relatively unaffected by death he’s caused, mostly due to the fact that he has lived as a warrior and death knight for so long. One eventually becomes numb to death. The only person he was affected by indirectly killing was Rusabar, as all Vando wanted was to die and stay dead, not cause his closest friend to also die.

20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines

If Vando had never killed himself, there is a chance perhaps that, in the end, he would have eventually fallen for Rusabar. It would have come far too late, likely after they had both settled down with someone else, but it is entirely plausible to have happened. He likely would have been chilling with Rusabar one sunny day and looked at him and thought “spirits I love this man” AND THEN MAKE A “WAIT WHAT” FACE HAHAHAAHAH. Rue would have noticed and gotten the story out of him, and then they would have both just been hella embarrassed LMAO. 21. Turning points in their life

When he cut his way across an entire battlefield to raise Shion from the dead (young troll hunter that Vando takes a shine to, for the fact that Shion is what Vando imagined one of his children to be, if he had had a child). He had noticed Shion had gotten himself into a bad spot, and Vando was able to get to him right as he fell, hence why the death knight was even able to bring him back (I HC that there is a time-window on resurrection, as in the soul has to still be lingering near and/or attached to the body for a resurrection to work. Also yes! Death knights have a spell / ability called Raise Ally! So Vando is able to resurrect his allies).

It was at this point that Vando was forced to accept the fact that he DID CARE about others.

Another turning point in his life was when he met Fayura, but that is another story for another time (let’s just say Vando DOES get a happy ending).

Rusabar mostly. Also definitely his father, who would have been a renowned warrior but would have also likely died while Vando was still young (the tribe had stories though)! And, to a lesser extent, people like Talibah, Thanallian, Eldreath, and Shion also rubbed off on him.
