"O-ho!"

The exclamation mixed with a laugh is interrupted by a twitch of his features---a small glitch on the flatscreen. Even at his most composed, he's never been unaffected by Alastor.

"I've been celebrating, alright! Of course, I would have celebrated more if you'd been less of a coward---but hey! Seeing you look that close to pissing yourself was a fine substitute." Vox is already getting worked up, but presentation isn't exactly his main concern right now. An affront to his well-crafted image is much less damning than not meeting Alastor where he stands. "Just one note---next time, you could stand to be a little more considerate and actually die."

The mixture of frustration and enthusiasm is genuine in spite of the fact that Vox would rather keep Alastor alive, the distortion in his voice rearing up in tandem with the smorgasbord of feelings that can't decide which of them is the most important. But Vox can't make that decision, either---he just doesn't bother.

"Either that or stop wasting my time."

Whether or not he upholds the day's schedule is something that remains entirely within Vox's jurisdiction; he'd only have to cut their conversation short. But he hasn't moved an inch.

It was a beautiful sight to watch Alastor come to in his trap. He watched in ecstasy as first pain registered in the demon, followed by a slow realization of where he was. It was absolutely delicious to watch him feebly struggle against the cables that bound him, his deep red claws useless against them. Perhaps more so was that when Alastor spoke, the filter to his voice was barely present, and fuck if that wasn't a turn on. He could hear the damn bastard himself!

He didn't hold back laughter as he strolled forward, triumph radiating with every step he took. "Why, it looks like you're finally caught, Al." He moved into his space, bending forward slightly to bring him eye level with the radio demon. "Looks like you're not as strong as you thought you were, dear old friend." He wanted to rub it in. Make sure Alastor knew that this time, he lost. He was at Vox's mercy and the thought of everything he wanted to do to him already had him drooling at his mouth.

He straightened up and carelessly reached for the bowtie around Alastor's neck, loosening it for him. "I thought it was time for us to catch up. There's so very much I'd like to do-- I mean, talk to you about." He tossed the bowtie aside, not caring where it landed on the floor of the control room.

Just for good measure, to reiterate there was no way for Alastor to escape this trap, he sank his claws straight into one of his shoulders. He pierced them through the fabric of his shirt, sinking them in as deep as they would reach and curled them in his flesh to elicit as much pain as possible. He leaned forward again to whisper in his ear, "Keep smiling, Al. You're being recorded." Sure enough, there was a blinking red light coming from one of the many televisions in the room as proof of a recording taking place.

Everything hurt! Slowly, he could feel himself coming back to reality. His body felt like I had been beaten, tossed around a few times, and then ran over. Ear tuffs giving the littlest of wiggles, claws moving ever so slightly, and eyes fluttering open. His perception wasn't quite there yet, while he waited for his eyes to focus again. What happened?

A soft groan escaped from his lips as he tried to move, but quickly realized he wasn't moving. Even with his clouded view, the demon could make the blue lights. Vox. Fuck! How could he forget about Vox?! Everything started to come more into view. The bright lights from the monitors around him, the silhouette of the insufferable prick.

Red eyes glew dangerously amongst the rest of the room, narrowing towards the issue in the room. His body screamed at him to do something, anything, while it still had a bit of daze to it from the left over electrical charges. Not to mention the dried lines of blood left from Vox's claws earlier. Gathering up the will to struggle, it got him no where. His own claws digits wrapped around the cables, trying to pull them down with the strength he had. Once again, it got him no where.

"What is the meaning of this?" His voice only having a hint of his filter to it, surprising even himself. "VOX, what have you d̶͍̼̠̗͌͊̾͌̈͜ő̴͔͕̦̫̄̒̈́̔͜͝n̴̨̎̔͑͑͗ē̷̡̧̠͉̝̏͝?" Panic slowly setting in a little more, looking around the room, seeing his coat thrown to the side, but his staff no where to be found. The cat and mouse game suddenly became real. His powers being suppressed coupled with the fact, the one way he was able to hide himself wasn't working how it normally did spelled trouble. His eyes turned to all the screens in front of him as his ear tuffs flattened against his head.

So in my “will-i-won’t-i” with Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss (where I procrastinate and don’t watch the shows and only absorb the content through TikTok, Tumblr and sometimes Twitter) I came across Staticmoth/ VoxVal.

I saw the scene with Angel and Valentino. His abuse and disgusting behavior. I have an idea on how this moth asshole behaves.

And I have seen some people think that their relationship would be toxic, that Vox and Val, if the predictions are correct and become (or are revealed to be) a couple, would beat the shit (physically, mentally and emotionally) out of each other on the regular, but I think the idea that him and Vox having a healthy relationship could be such a punch to the gut plot wise.

Because that would mean Valentino IS capable of understanding consent. He KNOWS what working with someone else means without disrespect. He FULLY knows what sex is supposed to be like.

But that’s is between equals. Vox? His equal. Fellow overlord.

Angel? His property. Why would he give a shit about his thing?

Okay, maybe this is just cos Valentino is my favorite character (equally tied with the Vees in general, of course), but I honestly wonder about how he would die.

Mostly, it seems like he would die because the fandom demands it. He's terrible and abusive, and so, theoretically, he must die. But I dunno... something about all that doesn't fit well with me.

Okay, so let's talk about Valentino getting killed off. There's no way for him to be changed and redeemed and he's too horrid to be able to live, so he dies. Gets crushed and stamped out and we just move on to some arc where Angel has to reconcile that his abuser is dead (which is all cool) and what that means for him.

But the thing is, for some reason, I don't know if I see things happening that way given the way they've portrayed Valentino's relationship with the other Vees, especially Vox. There are actual brief shots where Valentino does seem to have an actual genuine affection for Vox without the same toxic abuse slipping in. The two are placed on this equal footing where they can both taunt each other, grab each other's cheeks and shake one another when they're angry and upset. Val merely flicks Vox's hand off when Vox grabs and roughly shakes him as opposed to a backhand that Angel gets for telling him to go fuck himself.

Then there's the question of both Val and Vox's antennas being broken in some way, how they seems to have a past together in this partnership. Valentino, as a character, seems to have more to do with other characters than simply being only Angel's abuser is all I'm saying from this. He is deeply connected with the big villain of S2 which is said to be Vox and the Vees as a whole.

So here's what I'm thinking.

I don't think Val can simply be killed off as "He's an abuser and therefore deserves it, and that's it."

For one thing, what about the porn industry Valentino controls? I don't think the awfulness of the sex abuse ends with simply Valentino, even if Angel were to be the righteous one to take over. Sure, it might be better, but there's still so many systemic issues there. That's just Hell in general.

Secondly, can Charlie and Angel kill him? Charlie stopped her father from killing Adam even after all he's done. Ever after Adam slaughtered so many of her people, she still stopped Lucifer and told him it was enough. Niffty just didn't get the memo. Could Angel face his abuser and kill him? I don't know. Their relationship is complicated and fucked up.

Thirdly, what about the whole thing of redemption? The thing about Hazbin Hotel is that part of it seeks to understand what redemption means. Who deserves it? Can anyone have it? Even the worst? The root of all evil? And the thing is, no, Val doesn't deserve redemption or the chance to change... But that's the thing... It's not about that. People can change if there is a chance offered. And of course, once that chance is offered and denied, it's fair game to kill Valentino off. But I still think it should be there.

Because that's what Hazbin Hotel is about. Redemption and what it means rather than who deserves. It's about changing a system for good.

And lastly, I'm not against Val dying. I just want it to be with purpose. If anything, if he dies (which he most likely will), I want it to not be entirely due to Angel, but Vox (and Velvette, though we haven't had as much interaction, he still clearly means something to her) too since those are the two character whose arcs he's most tied to.

I just think it's important to consider when we talk like "Yeah, lmao, Val is so gonna get killed off next season". Well... what if he doesn't? What is Val's purpose in the series?

Vox makes a show of his reaction the same way he makes a show of everything that isn't Alastor---by plastering the cold distance of corporate feeling over the top of it. Everything from the smug, superior way he crosses his arms to the distance he keeps is deliberate.

There are some things he can't control, but if Alastor is going to keep toying with him like this, then Vox isn't going to give him more than he has to.

"You can't hide anything from me. I don't care what you think the price is. I'LL FIGURE YOUR SHIT OUT." When it begins to border on hysterical, he reels himself back in. "Or, sure, you can keep living in your make-believe world where I'm not capable of digging up any patch of dirt you think you can keep secret."

Vox isn't as uninterested as he feigns being, of course, in Lucifer. Nor is he as unintimidated, but there's absolutely nothing that kills a good negotiation faster than letting the opposition know there's some way in which he has the upper hand. Not even the King of Hell should be an exception to that steadfast rule of business.

"Normally I'd tell you to make an appointment if you have something to discuss with me, but it must be important if someone of your station is showing up unannounced like this."
