though ranger is really expressive verbally, he seems to have the same poker face as his father. he rarely snarls or crosses his eyebrows when expressing hatred, using his facial mechanisms at least. he has a dedicated full-face signboard for an angry face (and a little one for a sad frown). it seems to be a conscious decision by nankidai since he pretty much never sketches him as expressively as he does for his other characters. it gives the impression that half of the time when ranger's not being sadistic or hateful he probably feels really empty. maybe that's why he acts out a lot. he tries to avoid this empty feeling. and he learned such behavior gets him lots of attention too, from like anyone in asu-naro

except from like. his dad. I like to think gashu just doesn't give a shit at all. ranger being disrespectful? ok. let him be then. I made him like that. maybe gashu even lightly praises ranger for it (but actually he's praising himself. he thinks "ah yes very good this is correct human behavior. well done gashu") but the 'affection' is never consistent, which enables ranger's behavior even more

Well... what did he feel about his mother?

"Nothing..." was the short answer and maybe there is more to it, but he doesn't know how to put it into words anymore. The truth is much more complicated, it's uncomfortable and ugly. His fingertips feel numb, his throat feels sore, his head feels heavy and his chest feels tight but...

She had been his everything, the light in the dark, his lighthouse, his safe haven in a stormy sea. All he ever wanted was to see her smile again, laugh again....

And then--

He thought reconnecting with her would resolve it. He thought it would redeem the fear in his heart, mend the wounds in his soul - of course he enjoyed spending time with her, he wrote her letters because he wanted to, but it was never the same again. She wasn't the same again, never had been. The memories and dreams of a warm smile, of a loving embrace, of gentle hands had been nothing but an illusion.

Now that Touya returned things changed even more... he didn't really know why or how or what exactly changed but the way they spoke about him was differernt, the way they looked at him was different, the way they behaved was different and suddenly Shoto felt like he didn't belong with them anymore. He felt like he moved further and further away from them - all alone.

It was his duty to safe them and he would do it. He would save them. He was there to be strong, to be a voice of reason, to be a hero and save them like heroes are supposed to do but never at any point in time they would do the same for him.

Optimus prime becomes a western highway ghost story.

If you’re driving in the dead of night along those long stretches of highway in the western US you might just encounter a lone big rig who will drive along side you for miles. The truckers will blow their horns as they recognize his custom paint and trailer the truck will slow its steady speed to match them. Those truckers with cbs say that there’s someone to talk to in there but he seams sad and lonely. No one ever sees him stop. Some say he’s an angel who will lead rescue workers to crashes at the dead of night. Those unfortunate enough to wander the highways at night tell story’s of the truck that stopped and got them somewhere warm and safe for the night only to wake in the morning with large sums of money in there pockets and a small note apologizing for the low sum. Children and parents smile as he always honks his horn when asked. The people of the western highways know when you see big red you’re always taken care of no matter who you are or where you came from.
