1. Sweet Talk/The Harlequin (Harleen Quinzel)

Originally contracted to work as a psychiatrist for the Tartarus villain redemption program, Sweet Talk had a unique relationship with the Joker. This relationship was proven to be even stranger than her coworkers had originally assumed when she broke him out and joined him in his life of crime.

Devoting herself entirely to her new life and relationship with the joker, she covers her original cutie mark at all times. Snce her horn was snapped she can no longer cast precise spells, leaving her magic mostly emotion-based and intensely volatile, (typically manifesting in the form of sparks, zaps, and explosions).

Other Notes:

-Using Tartarus as a substitute for Arkham Asylum for this au because why not.

-The villain redemption program did NOT go well. Sorry Twilight.

-Mostly based on BTAS Harley because I adore the original costume.

-Her horn was cracked by the Joker

2. Pudding Pie/The Joker (The Joker)

Batpony’s most notorious foe. Said to have been just a regular pony until he fell into a vat at an Ace Potions factory during a conflict with Batpony.

He doesn’t have a Cutie Mark, but it’s unclear whether this was always the case or instead a result of his accident. The effects of permanent Cutie Mark loss—the only known cases of which occurred via long-banned magic and/or traumatic injury—are largely unstudied, and it’s ramifications are unknown. Some ponies theorize this may be the reason for the Joker’s mental state and general disposition.  

Sundown has a different opinion on the matter.

Other notes:

-Based mostly on BTAS joker and the ‘89 Nicholson joker.

-His name is just based on Harley’s “pudding” nickname for in in a lot of versions, but I think it would also be hilarious if he was a distant relative of Pinkie Pie.

-I could leave it ambiguous but. Yeah the potion vat didn’t actually do anything beyond slightly altering his physical appearance. He’s just like that and he never got a cutie mark in the first place.

3. Gadiel/Scarecrow (Jonathan Crane)

Raised among ponies, Gadiel was relentlessly bullied for being gangly and birdish, earning him the nickname “Scarecrow” in his youth. Though he later successfully became a professor and psychologist in Gotham, Gadiel was eventually fired when he was found to be testing his fear-inducing potions on his students and purposefully putting them through terrifying and dangerous situations. Deciding to take his experiments to the masses, Gadiel donned the mantle of Scarecrow and weaponized fear to become a career criminal.

As the Scarecrow, he’s known for his skill in manipulation, psychological torture, and crafting dangerous potions and gas. The effects of fear on magical creatures are unique and intense, much to Gadiel’s delight and interest.

Other Notes:

-I wanted to make his front half a crane but I couldn’t get the long neck to work right with the mask, so he’s more crow-like instead.

-according to the wiki 1/3 of Griffin names start with a G so naturally I was extremely tempted to name him Gonathon and you should all be very grateful I did not. The name Gadiel has origins in the bible as the name of an archangel which I thought was fitting given the insane religious trauma some versions of the scarecrow went through. I thought about trying to do something similar for this version but given that the mlp universe uses Princess Celestia as a replacement for God in expressions like “Celestia knows where” and “Oh my Celestia” I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. There’s probably some kind of sun-worshipping thing in equestria idk.

-I spent a long time on the mlp wiki but from what I could find the only “fear” magic in the show is just used by one guy and its just called “dark magic”. I thought for sure there would’ve been some random plant or magical creature they dealt with at some point that maybe did something similar I could use for his blurb but unfortunately there was not.

4. Mandible/Falseface (Basil Karlo/Matt Hagen)

Hungry and deeply resentful of the changeling queen for forcing her underlings to share what little stolen love they had with her, Mandible went rogue early on and split off from the hive to pursue his own ventures. Finding success under the name Claypose as a pony actor in Gotham, he was sustained primarily by the one-sided love of his fans for years, despite the false identity having no real prior personal relationships to leech from. 

After a magical special effects accident on set revealed his true nature, he went into hiding and immediately started crafting a new persona, but soon found in his distress and rage over losing his identity as Claypose that he could no longer sustain any disguise long enough to keep up a long-term facade. Blaming the accident, he targeted the unicorn responsible by posing as his wife to leech his love, but ended up killing the pony in a panic when his disguise failed much faster than he’d anticipated it would. Unable to keep up a new identity or return to the hive, Mandible turned to a life of crime instead, doing dirty work for the bigger criminal names in Gotham and leeching love from his employer’s targets to survive.

Other notes:

-Clayface being a changeling was an obvious pick given his power set but I really wasn’t sure how to tackle the main issue of him being unable to keep a solid form for long. I went with his distress and frustration being the main thing keeping his disguise flimsy (so he gets put in kind of an ourobouros cycle where his disguise being bad makes him upset but him being upset makes it harder to fix his disguise), but the magic accident probably also contributed somehow.

-Why are all the changelings straight up just named after body parts in this show whats that about. The “Clay” in Claypose is obviously a reference to his title/schtick in the comics while the “pose” comes from both his job as an actor and the fact that he’s posing as a pony. Mandible is the name for the jaw part of an insect.

-there's actually an entirely different batman villain called falseface in the '66 series but I couldn't come up with anything better. Changeface just does not roll off the tongue.

3. Winglon/Killer Drake (Waylon Jones)

Originally intended to be used in an entrance exam, his egg was stolen from a Canterlot delivery cart on its way to Celestia’s school of magic and sold on the black market to a Pony Island circus. Raised to be part of the freak show, Winglon was pitted against circus performers and overconfident challengers in ring fights for money and entertainment. Enduring abuse and injury throughout his life from ponies that he was always fundamentally stronger than, it was only a matter of time until he snapped. Garnering the name Killer Drake for his actions, Winglon escaped into the Gotham sewer system.

Not knowing how to return to the dragonlands or whether he’d even fit into dragon society at all, he continues to lurk in the dark away from any life, deeply resenting ponies and all other manner of magical creatures that make friends with them.

Other notes:

-I like silly names ok. Winglon Jones. -I like the theory that the dragon egg used for Twilight’s entrance exam was actually fake/meant to be a no-win scenario, but I also don’t think it would be that hard for enterprising ponies to get their hands on dragon eggs. The practice probably stopped in the later seasons when they made friends with the dragonlands or whatever though.

-Given that dragons threaten to eat or kill ponies at multiple points in the show, the cannibalism is actually kind of understandable. And also not even cannibalism anymore. Still murder though.

Poll Winner

Out of everything, I was not expecting the MLP AU to be the winner hahaha but I can't say I'm complaining! Here comes the fun part though! I do apologize

I finally got some free time to share a few tidbits about "WordFilly" because I literally could not come up with a better name. I also plan to turn on asks, so you can ask me things about the AU's - I'd welcome it.

WordFilly is an alternate universe ft. Wordgirl and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (MLP/FiM), so here's what I'm thinking so far. Fair City is known for its magic as a lot of villains have powers, but I decided to get a little silly with this. I honestly haven't quite decided this bit.

Becky is still an alien, so I feel she isn't a normal run-of-the-mill pony, but she also looks like an earth pony or something in order to blend in with the crowd! Huggy could either continue being a monkey, or he's like a dragon - I'm not sure which yet!

And now we're going to break this down-

WordFilly Character Species

The Botsford Family - Sally Botsford (earth pony, cutie mark undecided; is still the District Attorney - has a wavy red mane and tail, knows Spanish); Tim Botsford (earth pony, cutie mark undecided; part-time substitute teacher, also works at an office - looks a lot like a Clydesdale, but smaller); TJ Botsford (earth pony, cutie mark undecided; blank flank). I mulled so long over this AU for a while - and I did decide Becky’s species but for now, I’m going to keep this quiet. All will be revealed in due time!

Violet is a unicorn because I said so; as she's the whimsical artist, I immediately thought she would be a unicorn! It felt fitting for her character.

Personally, I see Scoops as either an earth pony or a Pegasus, I'm unclear as to which right now.

Tobey's 100% a unicorn. I don't make the rules. This is canon now. (only I do make the rules because it's my AU /lh). I also see Victoria as being a unicorn attempting to pretend she's an alicorn or something because she would.

Villains;

Chuck the Evil Sandwich Making Guy - earth pony; cutie mark's a sandwich stacked on a platter (this might change, but idk yet-). He does still have a sandwich head because why not

Dr. Two Brains - earth pony/mouse hybrid; has mouse ears, whiskers, and a long mouse tail - though it weirdly resembles a rat's own. DTB could also be another species that isn't mouse but I think that would defeat the purpose. I know someone who mixed him with a parasprite and I kind of thought it was cute though!

Mr. Big is also an earth pony-

Whammer is a unicorn. That's it. That's the post.

I feel like Miss Question is 100% a Pegasus and that her powers come from sort of pendant (much like something I plan to do with Eileen but we'll get to her later-). Though I love her hoverboard thing, so maybe she's a unicorn? I can't decide, to be honest.

For Eileen, she's an earth pony - her powers are fueled by the amulet, same as in canon! She's short for a pony, and she hates it so much.

The Butcher - unicorn, his cutie mark is a slab of meat that is faintly covered in a hue of red. LRW is 100% a unicorn though she's mixed with something else, don't ask me what just yet. Amazing Rope Guy is an earth pony; uhhh, Seymour is a unicorn and extremely obnoxious- D2B's henchmen are an earth pony and unicorn. Leslie is an earth pony.

Rhyme and Reason are a Pegasus and unicorn. These might switch later!

Worldbuilding

WordFilly follows the Wordgirl series if the characters were ponies instead of humans - or an alien and the citizens of Fair City. The city is mostly inhabited by ponies and has become a foundation for magic, and not to mention superheroes and of course supervillains. No one knows when it began but after seeing Amazo Stallion for the first time, Fair City became enamored at the prospect.

Amazo Stallion had been a unicorn though some could almost swear they'd seen him with wings once or twice, but that simply couldn't be possible: no one had seen alicorns in such a long time. As time continued, the legacy of Amazo Stallion and other likeminded heroes continued to prosper until he vanished. There wasn't any reason behind his explanation; he just... disappeared.

With time however, unexpected changes happen...

When a young filly named Becky Hoofsford was found by her adoptive parents - Tim and Sally. Nopony knew where she'd come from, other than the fact she was found on the front porch by Tim. For some reason, she had a pamphlet in her hooves and had been reading through it which was certainly a little odd (but Tim would never say he'd been bothered by it. If anything, he found it endearing of how smart his little Beckaroni was-)

Unwilling to leave a young filly out on her own, Sam and Tim Hoofsford take her in. I imagine they try to find her family, but end up finding nopony and Becky becomes their adoptive daughter! I’m still developing certain aspects of this universe and well, I think I’d be a poor host if I revealed everything so quickly!

With the exception of a few characters, I feel like most of the ponies do in fact, have their cutie marks. TJ doesn’t have his… Johnson? Probably not! Though I do need to decide exactly what said cutie marks are because my ass is very picky!

If anyone is curious on this universe as a whole, I can make more content but honestly right now - I don’t have too many spoons to fully go into detail and I’m trying to keep spoilers from reaching all of you just yet heh—

Why are you this ick about the friendship things in the books? I mean, for a book series that aimed for preschooler shouldn't it be expected for the books to have a lot of corny messages about friendship and love? Like, I feel like you gave way too many expectations for a silly kid series

Okay yeah that's fair, maybe my expectations for the series is holding the bar a bit high, and it might just be a me thing (I could never get into MLP for the life of me)

But hear me okay

The reason I don't like the power of friendship being mentioned in the books is because it clashes with what I've seen of the series so far.

See one thing the books did very well was allow you to imagine that the girls are grown-ass adults in university. They are very good at selling the bit that the girls are adults, without infodumping the crap out of it. For the best look into how this is done, see graphic novels 1-4, as well as the main books that were done in the older artstyle. The way the books are written allows you to really believe these girls as grown adults-- there are occasions where the books' age sticks out a bit... too much, but most times, it's smooth sailing, and the girls are very believable as adults.

Case and point: I got into the books when I was eight years old, and one thing I appreciated and still appreciate about the older books is the fact that the immersion is on-point. The books are rated 6-10, but only in terms of the language level (it's short and easy to read is what I'm saying). The plots of the books are well-written, and most importantly, the books do not treat you like a kid as you're reading. You'd be surprised how valuable that is nowadays,,,

Even the friendship bits in the older books worked hard to sell the bit in a way that it fits with how the stories are written, which is very grounded and realistic, actually (minus the cheese puns):

The girls gave Thea a fancy jade and called her "the keeper of our friendship"? Friendship bracelet logic, which is a very valid logic. Colette's cousin mentions the girls' friendship? Well yeah, it makes sense in that scene because she's hosting a fashion walk, and the girls literally carried and were kinda the reason why Julie's finals project wasn't completely scrapped; that part where the friendship bit is mentioned is literally the perfect moment for a cheesy-ass speech. (There's a really good one in non-English Shipwreck too but that's a story for a whole 'nother day.) The way the plots are written is very down-to-earth and grounded, and the inclusions of the friendship bits back then reflect this. This was the way the bar was set for me, and thus it's how I judge the later books.

As the series progressed, things got more explicit with the age range. Nothing atrocious, but you could tell things were getting more and more openly kid-friendly. You know it's progressed when more than a handful of people mistake them for being highschoolers instead of grown-ass adults in university.

There is still action, and there is still adventure and shenanigans that you get fully immersed in, but if you're like me, you would be happily immersed in the adventure, trying to solve the mystery alongside the girls, but also hoping and praying to your holy deity of choice that a friendship bit doesn't come up in the year of our Lord 2024.

Only to die inside when it is brought up and the delivery sounds so blatantly sugary it can give you a cavity. The kind that hurts to see stick out like the sorest thumb.

So yeah, my standards might be high, but my standards are high because I've seen the series reach that bar before, and I know they can do it again. I am mentally ill for this franchise dammit /affectionate

So so after seeing some tok toks and reading some fanfics you know what would be probably angsty but a good idea a MLP fanfic with the song "Once more to see you" by Mitski (I think that's the name of the song), the ship I thought first is Prince Blueblood x Shining Armor because idk I started to like Blueblood a little because he's not that bad and I read some fanfics about him and Shining they were good.

So the songs says something like "But with everybody watching us, our every move

We do have reputations

We keep it secret

Won't let them have it" It could fit them like gay and in a sense it would be like a prince x guard? And if you do it in a semi-homophobic alternate universe and make it a good forbidden love where they're not supposed to be together because Blue is "royalty" and Shining is just a guard so they are not supposed to be together because they are stallions and different social classes and aja.

And then there's the other lyrics "So come inside and be with me, alone with me

Once more to see you" It's a really good song.

Although maybe it could also fit Cadance x Shining because apparently if I remember correctly I think not many people knew that Shining and Cadance were dating so the wedding was a surprise specially for Twilight and If they started dating before Shining was even a guard you could say that the princess of love was with some random stallion. So it could make an angsty story for them to maybe less gay?

Both ideas are really good in my mind obviously I would prefer my first option because it sounds like it could get more angst than comfort gayer and angsty maybe with its hurt/comfort like I said it could get more angst than comfort-er? idk but yeah.

even though it's not true, i love the mlp timeline theory and it's variations. the idea of every generation being connected is pretty fun to think about!

my personal timeline is g1 > g3 > g2 > g4 > g1.5(?)/mlp tales > g5 . you can even fit gen 0 (my pretty pony) inbetween g2 and g4, maybe even around the g1 point if you really wanted.

g1 is first because humans, g3 is next because while no humans show up there are still holidays like christmas and valentines day, g2 because many important figures in g4's universe are named after ponies from this gen, then g4.

mlp tales is interesting because you have an semi-isolated town of earth ponies who are shocked to see pegasi/unicorns/alicorns--as if they didn't know they existed. if we go by what g5 has shown up so far, this could very well be a generation of ponies who were born waaay after the events of fim. ponies with wings and horns are myths to them.

they have "modern" technology (mostly 80s-90s tech due to the time period this show was created), and the only other mlp media containing anything like that besides equestria girls IS a new generation. this could very well take place 30-ish years before the events of g5. there was also an episode about "settler ponies" founding their town so take from that what you will.

after that its just g5 hehe. we're still learning about the events transpiring in between ANG and FiM so who knows!

fun fact i actually have characters inspired by the "pretty pony" gen that predate the birth of equestria, and who have strange variations of magic that dies out by the time g4 comes around. its a way to explore pre-equestria mlp while also repurposing ponies i like from pre g4 media hehe

hmmm good question. I'm between a bat pony and an alicorn. he could also have that same ability the orange pony has in gen 5 where he can become an honorary alicorn, though that fits superman more. maybe he has tech that gives him the power of an alicorn, like fake wings and a fake horn. I was gonna say he would be a batpony, but that fits the villain manbat more. as for other characters, dick grayson and cassandra be a pegasi, damian would be an alicorn, alfred, steph, and duke thomas would be unicorns, and tim and jason would be earth ponies. barbara would be a pegasus, but after the events of the killing colt (horse killing joke) her wings wouldn't work.

oh absolutely, but it’s only really noticeable if you’re close to him. in public he tends to treat everyone with the same cold politeness with only a few exceptions. if you mean alot to him he’ll be more lenient with his boundaries and maybe even smile at your jokes once a year or so. maybe make a joke of his own once a decade. he shows affection through lots of tiny little gestures so as to maintain plausible deniability.

✂️ SCISSORS - what is the "last straw" for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

too easily. it’s a defence mechanism but he takes it to the extreme by being an absolute jackass to everyone he meets (cant lose someone who never liked you in the first place). he’s only ever been “close” enough to one person for him cutting them out of his life to have been something notable.

fucking hell man no clue. i know less about them than any of my other ocs. its mind is so obscured to me i would have no idea what to suggest. obviously the blanket ‘go to therapy’ that applies to all my guys but with fulgur? hes someone i’m still figuring out.

i would say most likely to evade taxes and then publicly brag about it but i based that on al capone so she’s not the first to have done that </3 um. but out of the main cast- most likely to spend a ridiculous amount of money on luxury items no-one could possibly need. most likely to start a pyramid scheme (maybe tied with fulgur on that one) and most likely to be perceived as less intelligent than she is (this is on purpose)

depends on the point in the timeline tbh! the advice he’d give pre- and post- being murdered would vary dramatically

[Concept] The Nova Crew

If you want to see more like this please support me at Subscribestar / Ko-Fi So a while back, when I was struggling to find ideas to work on for myself, I found an old drawing of a female StarFox fan-character, who was a playful and mischievous husky and claimed she was a descendant of Wolf O-Donnell! I remembered that I wanted to do something with her and for a while and I had a few ideas for crew mates, but unfortunately the ideas either weren’t developed enough or just didn’t stick. The only thing I could remember for her was She was not the captain but instead was the Sharpshooter/ Ace pilot. Anyways I'm moving away from the StarFox universe mainly because I don’t want to deal with the threat of Nintendo breathing down my neck, Nintendo is scary! Which lets me do my own thing with her and her potential story! First things first, the crew! I knew I was going to have a hard time making new characters on the spot, so I decided to add some of my other characters and see if they would fit. So there are three recycled characters, the first are Dunn and Kit of course, since of the few things I could remember of the captain and the engineer, were that the captain was a serious fellow with 3 robotic limbs and was maybe in a relationship with the engineer, I thought those two would work the best to mold into what I need them to do. I also dropped the the number of robotic limbs from 3 to 1 for Dunn since after a while I felt that that was excessive. The other character is one I have been wanting to give love to for a while now, but have been struggling to find a place to use him. Kain, was a MLP oc whose design I loved but I didn’t get to do much with him, and now that I’m no longer into MLP I wanted to move him away from it too. As for his role in the crew, it was something I made up on the spot when drawing these guys out since his design was exotic compared to the rest. He is the resident alien specialist and muscle of the crew! I mean it wouldn’t be sci-fi without an alien right!?

Circling back to the character that started this all, for a long time I didn’t have a name for her, but now she does! Eri Wolfhowl (last name still pending) Is the Ace pilot and sharpshooter of the crew, and the main character of the story! Or at least I’m trying to make her the main character, I got some stuff lined up for her, I just need to flesh her out more. I still want to use much of what I came up with for her in the past, I’m just going to have to alter her legendary ‘ancestry’! The next three are new characters I came up with once I got into the flow of designing the others. Avolin and Drimick Stonewal are two of the new characters, having the relationship of father and son. Avolin acts as the crews second in command and general medic, though I drew him with a serious frown in my first draft, I have decide to give Avolin a more general caring and fun personality, he can still be very serious but he is much more lax then he initially gives off. His father on the other hand is a very serious man, as a general of a large force should be, Drimick acts primarily as a task giver and a supportive character to the crew. And like his son, I drew Drimick with a very serious face but he is also a very caring person. Last but not least is the robo-companion of the crew, Digi! Digi was the last of the designs I made in this line and the one I had the hardest time with. Robots and other mechanical things are some of the few things I’m not the greatest with, but something I want to get better with, so Digi’s design will definitely be getting tweaked in the future. As for their personality, Digi is very curious for they lack an understanding of many thing around them, even if their programming and data banks states otherwise. I still feel like everyone’s designs still need to be improved upon a bit, as this was around the time I learned that their outfits... matter, but I have a lot of fun ideas and stories stored of them. that I hope to fully explore one day.

When i was littler I really liked the idea of being a unicorn!! Nowadays I think I fit more as a earth pony (heritage and stuff idk).

I did a little research and aparrently only earth ponies can grow food?? Which is fascinating to me. It could just mean earth ponies are better at it and everyone else needs to put more effort into. And there's exceptions, of course, bc Fluttershy is shown to be connected to nature and fauna even though she's a pegasus. Which is nice, there's no set rules and the franchise itself supports this.

I also think it'd be cool if this sona had like some hand (hoof?) in magic, though. Maybe artsy or nature-based magic. Alchemy doesn't need horns or anything so that'd be like doable. And using G5 as reference, hooves have some sort of traction to where ponies can grab things A La Power Puff Girls and that's helpful but like. Unsettling. To think about.

actually hang on im still thinking about canon versus fanon and like. my very controversial dp opinion is like... wes is really good, as a concept. as a side character, as a background character, as a bit player - but not as a major character. not as a major protagonist, and not as a major antagonist either. like in a very specific way, for very specific reasons, you know?

like everyone looked at this random, nameless background character and thought it was interesting how he looked almost identical to danny phantom - and decided to do something with that. to see that if he looks identical to danny phantom, it would only make sense that maybe he’d see danny phantom for who he really is when his peers do not. see, i love that. tonally, i think that fits the setting and the narrative that already exists. it fleshes out the universe in a way that makes sense, and i’ve always loved looking at background characters and making them more than they are. that’s fun to me. that’s interesting to me. i don’t typically agree with the “core concept” of background characters who are picked up by a fandom and made bigger than they were, but wes has a core concept that actually delights me, and that’s a rarity. and making use of the sam-wes gag was pretty funny. big fan, big fan of that.

but to then to try to make him so... integral to a story who his existence is only a second thought to, and stealing various roles actual major characters serve in the process? i don’t like that one bit. wes is no replacement for jazz, he doesn’t need her arc or her role. wes is no replacement for dash, he doesn’t need to usurp his role especially given the context of dash’s inspiration which wes wouldn’t make a very good pastiche of anyways. and he’s sure as hell no replacement for valerie - he does not need to usurp the role of grudge-based rival slash antagonist with something to prove from valerie. and what the fuck is wrong with you, trying to take every plotline away from a major protagonist who happens to be a black girl?! seriously think that one through. he doesn’t need to have a serious grudge against danny. he doesn’t need to be a credible threat, sympathetic or not. wes doesn’t need to be a main character. 

wes is narratively perfect as the ditzy doo of mlp or the fred rechid of spongebob to danny phantom - a recurring gag with a name that is recognized, and beloved, for the comedy his existence provides. one that could have a starring episode or two, yes, but ultimately does not steal the spotlight or focus from more important characters. 

however, i will also say that while wes is no replacement for jazz, dash, or valerie - he would make an excellent replacement for elliot. elliot is so nothing, so less than worthless. he contributes nothing of value to the narrative, and by virtue of pretending to be someone hes not for the entirety of his episode and lying at every turn you don’t find out a single thing about him except that he’s an insecure liar, he is less substantial than any other side character with a name despite having almost an entire episode focusing on him. so you can easily replace elliot with wes and it would change nothing. so yeah instead of an annoying episode about sam’s fake goth boyfriend danny is jealous of who is confused for phantom, i’d be fine with it being replaced with something wes-centric

for those who aren’t aware what the rainbow factory is: its a my little pony creepypasta (not technically a creepypasta but was kinda made into one anyway) where pegasus ponies - particularly those who are unable to fly - are put into a big ass factory where they get their colour juice sucked out and are made into rainbows. one of the main twists of the story is that one of the higher ups of the factory is Rainbow Dash - a main character in the show who the protagonist of the story Scootaloo looks up to. rainbow factory was MASSIVE in the mlp fandom and there were so many speedpaints and drawings and music made based on it

rainbows aren’t really an important thing in the minecraft universe. so we need something else for this factory to produce. I’m thinking redstone. something about how its magical and its properties are so unique. something about how the only way to farm it is with witch farms and raid farms - farms which require the killing of human-like creatures. something about how its used to represent blood. something about how its vitally important for players and the basis of industry. yeah this fits

this universe’s rainbow dash is obvious - tangotek. he’s KNOWN for iron farms and villagers - machines built off of harming people. the whole decked out 2 dungeon - a massive looming structure that’s oppressive and almost like its own being and its sole purpose is to kill - reminds me just of the rainbow factory. then we keep the fun detail of having a pony with rainbow hair running the rainbow factory, with the guy with red eyes running the redstone factory.

the protagonist and antagonist are deeply linked in this story, one of the key parts of it is the betrayal and shock of the protagonist realising one of the people they trust most in the world is sentencing them to death. with the antagonist as tango, the protagonist must be zedaph. I choose zedaph for quite a few reasons beyond just this bond though - the original story is *very* obvious about its message of people who are viewed as different being seen as worthless and only good for being fed into a machine. in the story this is scootaloo being a pegasus who can’t fly, but here I think an interesting route to take is having zedaph as a useless redstoner. zedaph is a genius but his genius goes unrecognised, people just can’t fathom why he makes such utterly purposeless things rather than profitable machines. some people find the things he makes humorous, but nobody quite gets the fact that its art. in a community where things like efficiency and rates and size are all that matters in determining the worth of a machine, someone that builds things as slow and as silly as possible seems like a fool. I’m not quite sure how the failed flying test would be implemented in this, but zedaph would be sent to the factory because he’s viewed as not worthy of being a hermit - or perhaps not worthy of being a redstoner in general.

those are just the main aspects of the story, you could also include all the various side characters - I think joe hills would make an amazing buddy to accompany zedaph to the Ominous Death Factory. there are so many fun additional villain choices too - etho, xisuma, hypno, cub, doc… even ren I think could make a fun villain, maybe incorporating the factory as part of GigaCorp. plus there’s also the decision of whether this is a thing that’s just occuring on hermitcraft, or whether this is a much larger project affecting the entire player population. and most importantly of all you get to draw tango in a lab coat running an evil factory!!!!!

with all the mlp and hermitcraft crossovers recently, especially with the whole “everyhermit” thing, may I propose: rainbow factory au.

The Diamond Dog would stand tall and stalwart as she addressed the strange creature that approached the main entrance into the royal castle. Swaying her cape to the side Indiana would despite her kind demeanor stand ready to fell the stranger if ill intent be their purpose.

The first proper trailer for Sonic Prime came out yesterday, as I'm sure you've all heard. I've gotten several messages asking me my thoughts, so... here's some thoughts! Thoughts on how the show's looking, and a certain bat whose presence is somehow the biggest news to me.

First off? This looks phenomenal, visually speaking. I'm kind of in awe of how good the visuals in CGI cartoons are getting. The scenery looks great. The characters move so fluidly. Everything's beautifully lit. I could go on and on. I wish the in-engine game cutscenes had animation half this good.

I continue to be pleased with how slavishly faithful to the games the main universe is - to the point that they're saying this is, in fact, just set in the game universe. Yeah, we're all getting tired of Green Hill Zone, but we've never had a cartoon that was this faithful. The closest we got was Sonic X, which I like, but it's hard to look at any random episode about Sonic having to save the extensive human cast from another generic robot and say it really has the feel of the games. Seeing Sonic and co. fight some classic Badniks in a cartoon with (mostly) their normal designs feels special after all these years of never quite getting that.

That slavish faithfulness to the classic iconography also makes the differences with the multiverse stuff hit harder, and thank GOD they're finally showing some of that. This teaser is pitching it as a show about Sonic meeting alternate timeline versions of his friends who form an underground resistance against the Eggman Empire (funny how the franchise keeps finding itself back in Freedom Fighter territory), which is fun and all. Tall cyborg Amy! A version of Tails who can walk like a spider on a set of robotic kitsune tails! Hell yeah! But if the synopsis blurbs about a "multiverse" and "new worlds" and that pile of leaked concept art from a year and a half ago are anything to go off of, this is presumably only the first of multiple alternate worlds that we'll be seeing. I'm very excited to see more of them!

We also hear a little more from the new voice cast. Brian Drummond is kinda doing his own thing with Eggman. I like it. It sounds compatible with the usual Mike Pollock take without aping it 1:1. He seems maybe a little more sinister here, which fits what we've seen so far from this take on Eggman. And Deven Mack still sounds great as Sonic, although I kind of wonder if he's being instructed to sound like Roger since the delivery in what we've heard so far is pretty similar. I get that desire for consistency, but I hope he's able to inject a bit more of his own spin on Sonic in the full show, even if it's supposed to technically be the same Sonic as Roger's.

Meanwhile, the roles for the rest of the main voice cast have been confirmed elsewhere, and they mostly match up with what I expected because these casting choices just make perfect sense. I already know Shannon Chan-Kent, known primarily for playing Misa in Death Note and Pinkie Pie's singing voice (and Smolder) in MLP, is perfect casting for Amy. Ashleigh Ball's one brief line as Tails sounds a lot like her Rainbow Dash voice, but like... hey, it fits! I'm excited to hear more from her. And Knuckles... well, I don't know his VA as well and also he has no lines in this trailer.

But by now y'all know which characters I stan the most, and you know what I'm gonna be excited about. The big surprise here is the fact that Rouge is on the main cast. The main cast.

The cast posters revealed that she was in the show, which was big enough news, but then the trailer drops and she's on the damn team. Every hero team in a kids' show needs three boys and two girls, and this time they rounded out the group with Rouge. AND she's being voiced by Kazumi Evans, yet another MLP alum on this show - this time Rarity's singing voice and the voice of Adagio Dazzle in Equestria Girls. I don't even need to hear any lines, I know that's another perfect fit.

I'm just shocked. Rouge hasn't been in a TV series in almost two decades since she was kept out of Boom, robbing us of the "Rouge somehow ropes Team Sonic into doing a goofy heist with her" episode the world deserved. Ian's even said that he pitched some ideas for Boom Rouge after being asked to pitch more Boom-ified game characters, but it went nowhere. While she's continued to show up in the comics and (to a lesser extent) the games due to her fan favorite status, it's kind of felt like she was being swept under the rug. Fewer major story appearances than in the '00s, not much merch, it took them until the fifth Mario & Sonic game to make her playable. And she's probably seen as less broadly marketable as a mascot character because of... well, two big reasons.

And so, understandably, Rouge is here with a new outfit that covers those two big reasons up more than usual.

Yeah as a Rouge fan, a person who's talked at length about the fanservice in Archie Sonic, and a sapphic furry artist, I can't avoid talking about this stuff lol

I mostly like the new outfit and think it was a smart call. We can have lots of nuanced discussions about objectification and sexual liberation and the fact that seeing some cleavage isn't gonna kill you and how being the flirty femme fatale is a core part of Rouge's character and whether that's objectifying or empowering and all the other things that get brought up every time a new Bayonetta game comes out. But at the end of the day their main audience is 8-year-olds, and because of that I really can't blame them for dressing Rouge slightly more modestly. I've always loved Rouge as a character the way she already is, but people (particularly non-fans, and also just... Sonic fans who aren't also furries lol) often write her off as "that weird bat lady with the tits that people are really horny for." Hopefully the writing will show non-comic readers that she's a genuinely fun character when used well as a foil to the rest of the cast, and hopefully her new outfit(s) will allow people to focus on that.

I do think something's a little off with the new outfit, though, even if I think it looks solid overall. Is it just that the heart motif is more abstract and less of a central focus here? That might be part of it. Maybe the suit just looks slightly overdesigned next to Team Sonic. Unsurprisingly I've also already seen multiple pieces of fanart giving this outfit a boob window, with one arguing that showing more of her skin tone on her torso gives the design better color balance, and... yeah, on that level I do kinda agree lol. Although I think a similar balance could be achieved just by having her upper arms be exposed or something. (Which is a feature on her bad timeline counterpart's outfit!) But, yeah, overall I do think I like it.

I also don't think they actually made her boobs smaller compared to most of her modern appearances despite the many, many, MANY claims to the contrary but I am not getting into that debate lol. Also she's literally still wearing a skintight catsuit and doing cool flying kicks you are not allowed to say they made her less hot

The fact that they're putting Rouge front and center has me VERY curious about her future prospects in the movie universe, though, given the particular projects currently in the works. To me, this makes it seem WAY more likely than it previously did. But who knows?

Uhhh anyway yeah the show looks good. I like pretty much everything we've seen so far. I like basically all of the previous Sonic cartoons except Underground to some extent, but if they stick the landing with this one then it seems like it'll pretty easily be the best one. I guess it's kinda lame that they made Sonic say "gotta go fast" in the trailer, but idk, it's a modern Sonic project, they gotta pay the obligatory lame meme toll. I am mostly fixated on Rouge because she's one of my favorite characters and her being on the main team is somehow the biggest curveball this show's previews have thrown so far, like seriously what.
