      It was the little things. Like Jason opening the blinds for her so the solar rays peeping in would reinvigorate her each morning. Or how he sat beside her on the bed, hair tousled and with his usual smile. She looked at him, sleep wiping from her eyes. Yesterday had been draining, and Kori was sure that she’d slept like someone who endured atmospheric pressures and varying oxygen levels for hours. But here she woke up to those soft eyes, and she extended a hand to brush her fingers against his morning scruff.

     “ Good morning, Jason. ” Emerald eyes blinked up to him, wide and adoring. If Jason was the first sight she’d see in the morning, then she was starting the day right; that was a rule of thumb.

      “ You haven’t shaved. ” She observed, an odd fondness to her voice. Had she been his first sight today, too? “ I suppose that means breakfast isn’t quite ready. Would you like help? ”

Titanic Mothers (Mother’s Day 2021 Drabbles)

 Dedicated to all Mothers in the world, whether by birth, adoption or otherwise. Take the time to wish the woman who helped you become the person you are a very blessed Mother’s Day.

Of course I cannot have done this without thanking my pen pals @lightdusk96 @mothnem @wisegirlandseaweedbrainforever @fireflyxrebel-writes @tarisilmarwen @bluerene and many others 

So without further ado....

Arella Roth

 The peaceful, serene and calming orange tinted skies of Azarath are in many ways are therapeutic sort to admire under. For Arella, they are a perfect sort of skies to step outside for a nice and simple meditation. The Monks’ efforts in freeing her mind and grief in light of the numerous....series of events surrounding her entire life, whether being her harsh childhood and especially her unfortunate encounter with that bastard of a devil known as Trigon the Terrible, all of it had truly done some wonders in giving her a chance to appreciate life though clearly that grief runs deep, requiring an additional amount of effort on her end to counter it. 

 As Arella assumes lotus position on the balcony and lights two candles to her sides, she closes her eyes. She begins steadying her breathing and clears her mind...no easy feat though sine almost about a few seconds into clearing it, the scepter of Trigon and her tyrant of mother start coming in. The harsh words of shame, the demonic laughter, those taunts, the curses, they all start piling onto her mind, no her soul all at once. Her breathing starts picking up speed. She must remember what the Monks taught her....peace...find her inner peace...find what makes her find said peace...then within the blackened and harsh void of darkness clouding her mind...Arella sees it. That peace, a tiny stream of white light...a small bird. The bird starts getting closer, it’s wings start opening, dispelling the black void surrounding her...

  As her mind starts feeling the calming light clear it out, Arella peeks open her right eye very slightly, sure enough there she was. Her light, her inner peace, her white bird, her very daughter. 

 Little Rachel Roth, barely eight years of age as of now, was also in lotus position, practicing the very same meditation her mother was doing right now. She too looked at her meditating partner to her side and sure enough, both realize...’why stop now’ and both wordlessly give each other a small smile, a nod and both continue mediating. 

Arella, upon closing her eye back, says, “Okay, Rachel, now repeat after me...”

“Yes, Mom”

“Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos....”

Marie Logan

  “Garfield” Maire called out for maybe the fifth time, passing by the tall tree next their camper yet again.

  Her six year old little explorer of a boy had a tendency to run off whenever he was bored. Thankfully, he’d never venture into the nearby jungles or savannas the Logans visit too far, he always keep relatively close to make sure he knows his way back safely. Still, as a mother, Marie has her fair share of concerns for his well being since who knows what kind of animals he can run into this time. 

  However, the fifth time calling for him appears being the charm as sure enough, she can hear the branches creaking and the leaves rustling above her. Looking upward, sure enough, there he was, climbing down the gigantic branches with such agility before finally landing safely right next to her. His blond hair and crisp green eyes shone brightly as Garfield beams to his equally smiling mother. 

 “Found anything up there my explorer?” Marie asked while picking her son into her arms.

 “Nah”, Garfield replied, “plenty of birds like the manual said would ‘round here but they flew away”

 “Well, must be cause they didn’t want to hear about Wicked Scary just yet”, Marie says lightly giggling while ruffling her son’s hair, “maybe they just didn’t wanna get it spoiled you know?”

 Garfield sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, “Yeah, guess so.”

Dr. Elinore Stone

  Fixing her goggles, Dr. Stone narrowed her eyes within them ever so slightly. Next to her, ten year old Victor was equally wearing goggles but also adorably having oven mittens on his hands while holding on tightly to the beaker of green fluid over the larger one with orange fluid. 

 It was ‘Take Your Kids to Work Day’ at STAR Labs and both Elinore and her husband Silas had taken their son over to both explore where his parents’ worked at and even take part in a family friendly activity like this one. 

  Lightly guiding her gloved hands over Vic’s, the two together start pouring the green fluid from the beaker the latter was carrying very slowly into the one with the orange substance. The chemical reaction from the larger beaker was almost immediate since it started changing into a multitude of bright colors and bubbling. 

 “Alright son”, Elinore exclaimed proudly as her son beamed to her happily, “I think you’d just be quite the perfect chemi...” 

  KA-BOOM! 

  The lab immediately filled with a light with still irradiating cloud of smoke so rapidly that Silas immediately opened the windows to let the air clear. 

 As the smoke cleared out safely, both Elinore and Victor were thankfully completely fine aside the black soot covering their faces, their hair standing up embarrassingly, all the while Vic still holding onto that plastic beaker in his hands, muttering with a chuckle, “or not.” 

Empress Luand’r of Planet Tamaran 

  The royal gardens within the palace walls have always been a true sanctuary in many ways. In contrast to the barren and strip-mined prefectures right outside said palace walls, ravaged by years of constant fighting and war, the gardens housed a peaceful and tranquil environment that not provides the many fauna a suitable home, but also anyone who ventures within a calming place to contemplate and even find joy in spite of such harsh times befalling the planet.

 That’s very much the case for the very Empress of the Tamaraneans as she cannot help but find her smiling at not just the beautiful varying colors, pleasant aromas and lively calmness of the garden the bench she sits upon at this moment but also of the other resident currently enjoying herself alongside her. 

 Hearing a small voice giggle above her head, Luand’r beams proudly at the sight she sees: her seven planetary cycles of age old little Princess Koriand’r was floating in the air joyously and with such excitement, flying around the numerous branches and leaves of the fauna surrounding her, only stopping every now and then to have her brilliant green eyes observe closely of the leaves she floats right next to. 

 It was moments of pure innocence like this that always bring the purest joy within the usually lowkey Luand’r since through her, her husband Myand’r and especially their beloved ally and servant Galfore, Koriand’r and her siblings are actually given even int he smallest of doses a life outside of the constant bombardment and sirens their enemies bring on a consistent basis. If only there were some way, some means of escaping this perpetual worry and state of fear this war for their kind’s very sovereignty. If one such means exists, Luand’r here will ensure she and her people, especially her children, can take it. 

  A hug snaps the Empress out of her thoughts. Looking to her side, she sees Koriand’r wrapping her arms around her. No other options are needed since all the black-haired Tamaranean woman does is simply yet all too lovingly hug her red-haired daughter back.

   And so, Empress and Princess sit peacefully underneath the blossoming flowers and leaves of the royal garden, a truly fond way of doing the ‘spending quality time’ as a certain other species called Earthlings call it.

  Mary Elizabeth Lloyd Grayson 

 Gripping the bar tightly, Mary pulls it back while bending her legs starting with tipping her toes over the edge of the platform. Now int position, she looks down from her post and  can clearly see the nets are firmly in place and secured well enough. In the very few instances they engage in practice sessions without the nets, as per their acts, it would be just John and her doing such since by now, years of practice and experience worldwide have taught them a thing or few about making sure not a single fall happens on their watch, lest it cause certain disaster. 

  However, this it wasn’t John that was up here with her for today but, looking to her side and giving him a proud thumbs up, instead was her eight year old son who also gives her a thumbs up. Just two months ago was his birthday on the first day of spring and since then, no ever since he first took to the trapeze ropes when he was four, Mary watched her Little Robin improve and grow with each session, each show and every single time he stands on that platform, taking a leap of faith with his hands on the bars, letting loose to perform a spin or flip in the air before once more stretching his arms to safety of both John and/or her. Today proves not too different, hopefully. Worst case for this, Dick or her fall to nets below instead of the hard sandy floor. 

  Leaping off the platform with bar in hand, Mary flew the calm free-of-audience noise air with perfect easy, before hearing that trademark crack of the ropes, signal her to let it loose and with a flip in the air transferred successfully to the second bar across from where her son and the platform are, the first bar she gripped on still in hand.  

 Returning the first bar back to where son is at, now it was on her to ensure he reached her after his turn to swing. As such, Mary began swing the bar she was on back and forth, gaining momentum with each addition swing, only increasing such until it was deemed ready. Sure enough, the bar was swinging at a good pace and now, being the naturally skill contortionist she is, Mary easily positioned the back of knees so that her calves were holding her on the swinging bar, she was hanging upside down if not for the swinging of said bar and most importantly her arms are firmly in a position to stretch as far as they can for a catch. Her part in the act was good to go, now it truly was her son’s turn to fly.

  With a nod, his own hands firmly on the bar, in position for the leap and now his mother across ready to catch him, Dick with a wide grin on his face takes the leap of the platform and swings on his bar across the air. This was it, this was the time he gets it right. The creaking of the ropes he waits for is heard, it was time to let the bar loose. Sure enough as he does so, tucking in his legs to his chest tightly, Dick has nothing to hold him but gravity itself. 

One....Here’s hoping Raymond and Calvin are seeing this 

Two....He can already hear the crowd gasping 

Three....Keep it tight and remember make sure you let arms stretch at the right moment Dad says. 

And......Four! Dick straightens out his body and stretches his arms as far as he can. 

 For the briefest of all moments, he was actually flying. Nothing carrying him, no sense of his own weight dragging him down. He was Superman at that moment. 

 Then he starts loosing his flight, gravity had set in. He stretches his arms just to tiniest bit hoping before air rushes he can....just a little bit....

 Sire enough, all too familiar hands clasps onto his own hand. That familiar calloused texture of the palms, the chalky powdery feeling...Dick looks up to all too familiar face, a very beaming and proud one on top of that 

 “I’ve got you” Mary says lovingly as she can while using her arms to carry her son safely, “Momma’s here, Little Robin.” 

  The two smile at each other with all too familiar love and happiness in their distinct pairs of blue eyes while Mary’s bar starts slowing down its momentum. Finally as it comes to near complete stop, it was time to safely descend to the safety net below. 

 Before letting her son’s grips slips from her hands, Mary pulls him up to where she can deliver a small kiss on his forehead.

 “You did great!” she exclaims happily. Just then, finally the bar’s swinging comes to stop, allowing Mary to finally lossen her grip on her son, allowing him to safely land on the net below, giggling lightly as he initially bounced on it. Just then, Dick rolled out of the way to give his mother enough space for own safe landing as she unhooks her legs from the trapeze bar and land on the net right next to him.

 Mother and son simply lay there on their sides of the net, panting after such an effort before Mary threw her arms around her little boy, hugging him close to her. “You’re learning so fast”, she says panting yet all to happily.

  Dick simply lays his head close to her, feeling her all too calming and steady heartbeat, relaxing the both of them. 

 “Happy Mother’s Day. Momma, Love you”, he whispers to her happily, as he wraps his own around her tightly 

 Mary can’t help but smile and even have tears of joy glisten her eyes. Pressing a few kisses on her son’s forehead, she whispers in turn, “And I Love you, so, so much, My Little Robin”

Aka, the dream team for any Damian stans, methinks. This trio is godtier. i feel like they would get up to so much chaos... 🤌🤌 good shit. i need to read up on all three of them, but i’m really excited for where this will go. (PS one of Carrie’s possible identities before i settled on Wildfire was Wyldstyle... like the lego movie character... we decided that if that were the case then the lego movie exists in universe and she just decided to name herself after the character. we stan.)

The Outlaws: Tim Drake (Red Hood), Kon-El Kent (Supernova), Bart Allen (Impulse), Slobo.

Okay wow. so i’m sorry i didn’t include other members of yj98 in this, but i just didn’t see them being able to pull off the same morally grey type shit these guys are doing. like kon, i feel, would at the very least understand what tim was going through, and want to help his best friend through it, and would also be pissed at bruce for treating him like this. plus he has all these unresolved daddy issues towards superman... yikes. can someone say “teen angst”. and then bart is just straddling the line between good and bad to begin with— he grew up with no consequences, he literally grew up in a video game. so how he turned out is pure circumstance... there’s this one panel i can think of where he’s got his fist up to a guys chest and has an excited look as he asks “can i vibrate it through?” before tim says no. so yeah, if his friends are gonna be doing this shit where they’re taking down bad guys more directly, then he’s down for it. i don’t think i have to say anything about slobo. but also, since tim is gonna be coming nearly fresh outta the league of assassins, he’s gonna have allies in the form of Z, Owens, and Pru. so they’re gonna team up occasionally. have i mentioned the C H A O S this would cause? like, especially between Slobo and Pru. this is a team up that both needs to happen, and should be prevented from happening purely for the sake of the world.

Young Justice: Jason Todd (Bluejay), Cass Wayne (Batgirl), Koriand’r (Starfire), Roy Harper (Red Arrow), Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl i), Garth (Aqualad i).

So the only character of these I’m not all-too familiar with is Garth, but I’m gonna be doing some researching/comics-reading. As for the rest of them... I know some of these were unusual choices. Cassie should be with Tim! Yes but Tim is a lot different in this au, and so is his team. I just don’t see her being able to pull that off— also i just wanted interactions between the two Cassandras. 🤷‍♂️ Also: Steph is a frequent ally to this team, as she and Cass share the mantle of Batgirl. she acts as a kind of team mom at times, which should be interesting to write lol.

Young Titans: Dick Grayson (Robin), Wally West (Kid Flash ii), Donna Troy (Wonder Girl ii), Kaldur’ahm/Jackson Hyde (Aqualad ii), Garfield Logan (Beast Boy).

Okay so I know that this is mostly a Titans line up, but i just love Kaldur from the show so much, and I couldn’t have two Aqualads on one team. So. That’s why Garth is with Jason. I might change it later, but this is what’s happening for now.

c‘yra vs cyra

i didn’t include this in my author notes bc like there’s a limit. not to what i’ll inflict on my readers but on the characters for author notes. buckle in buckos it’s time for Unsolicited Opinions with Clare

Here’s the thing about apostrophes: they mean a bunch of different shit to a bunch of different people.

People (nerds) get it in their heads that throwing random apostrophes and diacritics into everything makes it look cool and exotic or whatever (see: Ebony Dark’Ness Dementia Raven Way, Koriand’r, T’hy’la, etc.), but what does it mean? Is it akin to an English apostrophe, indicating a dropped letter with no audible effect on the word, eg. can’t or let’s? Does it indicate a glottal stop for those who despair of their readers recognizing ʔ? An implosive consonant? Ejectives? Voiced pharyngeal approximants? it’s plagued fantasy and scifi writers since the days of JRRT, who at least knew what shit meant

In the case of MOTUC, the source of the C’yra of D’riluth III thing—it is not sourced from a conlang, or established lore of any kind. It bucks naming conventions (see: the contrast of D’riluth III with Darius-7, from the very same solar system), disregards previous backstory (”””Purrsia”””), and confuses people who know too much and too little about canon. Are we just picking these arbitrarily? Does chaos reign over space? This shit’s under Horde dominion, you’re telling me Prime is cool with this orthographical nightmare?

Okay, bear with me. Prescriptivist grammar is bullshit and I hate it. But standardization for the sake of official character bios would be like, nice?? Like what does a bitch have to do to get a pronunciation guide here?

after laboring in vain to parse the horse shit of the people who brought us Wun-Darr the wonderbread he-man, yet still unwilling to call the kid Mara or make up like an actual name, i took matters into my own hands

because of a neopets research project that got out of hand, I default to reading random apostrophes as glottal stops. Thus, C+“yra”, which we can extrapolate as “eeruh” although WHO’S TO SAY? Maybe it’s ih-raw and god is dead!! Who fucking knows!! Of course, that still leaves the question of hard or soft C. Is it “Kuh-ira” or “Suh-ira”? Ordinarily I would read Cyra as “seera”, but the separation of the phonemes leads me to pronounce it independently, and i default to hard Cs for irish reasons

As it so happens, Cyra is a real ass name, the feminine form of Cyrus, ultimately from Old Persian kuruš, which you will observe is transliterated with a K, because it’s a hard C. this cemented my decision to cling to performative nerd name bc it allowed for the syncretism of C’yra and Purrsia, which ostensibly MOTUC should have done for me, but it’s fine. it’s cool. i’m not bitter at all

S E C R E T  A P P R E N T I C E (Chapter 2)

Chapter 1:  Haunted 

After Slade puts Robin in danger, Starfire is set on destroying the mask that poisoned her best friend’s mind. Sadly, she ends up bringing back Slade and now he’s after her. He shared the news that Tamaran and Earth are in danger, but she has to be the one to save both planets. Convinced that she has to work with Slade to trick Blackfire into leaving their two homes alone, Starfire starts keeping secrets from her best friends. Will she be able to save the world or will she be seen as a traitor?

Slade had just poisoned Robin’s mind and tricked him into a fight that only he could win or lose. He was so deep into the search for the masked villain that he even yelled at Starfire. She got so scared. She was scared of losing him, of losing what they had because of how much Slade was affecting Robin's mind. She felt useless, her alien powers didn’t make any difference. When Raven got into Robin’s mind she felt even worse. She couldn’t do anything. The desperation gave her a rush of adrenaline that got her to rip the floor open with her bare hands to get to the basement and save her friend. She didn’t have a plan, she was just flying to him. Lucky for her, the Boy Wonder had just figured how to defeat this ghostly version of Slade on his own. So when Kory came into the basement he was safe but very hurt. He fell into her arms as she flew to his rescue. She could feel his heart beat slowly getting to a regular pace. She took him to the nursing room and her team mate, Cyborg, got the gas that made all this happen out of Robin’s system. Her masked friend turned the lights off to see if it would happen again but it didn’t. The look of relief in his face lifted a weight off her shoulders. Robin went to bed after that. The other four Teen Titans stayed put. Beast Boy was sick so he asked if they could take care of him now as he shape shifted between different animals each time he sneezed. Raven and Starfire laughed out loud. He was so much more funny when he didn’t mean to, she thought. Or maybe she just didn’t understand his earthly jokes. Either way, she was glad that this was all over and she could just laugh with her friends now. Cyborg interrupted them to tell the girls that the gas didn’t release itself, that it was triggered from outside. Slade was alive. Even after what happened with Terra. And he was after Robin again. They all promised to be ready when their enemy came back. She truly meant it, she wouldn’t let that man take her best friend away from her again. Beast Boy asked for their help once more. Raven got closer to him and used her powers to alleviate some of his symptoms. Cyborg asked if he felt better and the answer was a yes. Beast Boy cracked a joke about Raven’s healing ability and the half demon left to her room mumbling about how next time she would just leave him in pain. The shape shifter chased after her turning into a bat to get to her faster.

Starfire stayed in the room, looking at the screen where Cyborg had just showed them that Slade was alive. Her half robot friend put a hand on her shoulder. “Come on, Star, get some sleep. He’s fine”. Her emerald eyes were filled with tears, but she looked away so Cy couldn’t see it. “I know”, she mumbled, swallowing her feelings in the process. “I must clean up here, you can rest. We will need this space tomorrow to check on his scars and we do not want it to look this mess full”. She turned around to look at him with a big smile on her face. Cyborg nodded and left her alone.

She turned back around and stared at the screen. She turned the device off a couple of minutes after. Her eyes lit up. She stepped back and out of the room. Then she flew down to the basement. When she got there, she held her hand up to lit up the room as she looked for something. There it was, Slades’s mask. She stood there looking at it. She took it out from the box and put it close to her face. Starfire looked right into it. She could almost make up a face. Was he old? He wasn’t, he was too fit to be old. Was he young like her? Not that much. Who was the man behind the mask? Why was he so obsessed with Robin? Did he know him from before? Suddenly, her hands started shaking. The mask was trembling and she couldn’t hold it still. She pushed it away but it still got to let out a small amount of gas into her face. She used both her hands to cover her mouth trying to stay as silent as she could. “Hello, Starfire”, she turned back and there he was: Slade. “Looking for me?” The alien girl stepped back, she saw him. Starfire ran to the light switch but he got to her first. He extended his arm, holding his fist close to her face, but he didn’t hurt her. He turned his fist upside down and opened it revealing a picture of her sister with the Tamaranean crown and royal gown. “No!” Starfire almost yelled out loud, scared, shaking. “She is in jail, you are not saying the truth and I will not let you lie to me”, the princess responded. Her eyes were glowing again and Slade was gone because of the light, but something unespected happened. The photo fell to the ground. Starfire let herself fall too, she took the picture and stared at it for a couple of seconds. She closed her eyes, tears pouring down her cheeks as she imagined what her sister could do to her beloved home. “Fear not, child, I am here to help you”. Slade’s voice echoed inside her head. She ran the back of her hand through her eyes to push her tears aside. Then she stood up and there he was again. “As you see, this is the reality that your people are dealing with. I happened to keep an eye on your beloved sister because I thought her powers could be useful to me someday. I know what she is planning, just in case you want to know”. Starfire shook her head. “No, I will not let you fool me”, Slade walked around her in circles as the Tamaranean princess tried her best to keep herself together. “You see, it is in our best interests to stop her, for Tamaran and for my planet too”. Starfire stepped back trying to get away from him but he put his hand on one of her shoulders. “I do not need your help, I have my friends”, she said. “Oh but you do. You see, child, your human friends can’t help you in this one. You know if you want to get your planet back and protect this one from your sister, you have to challenge her on your own”. Starfire pushed his hand off of her shoulder. “But they are going to be there for me”. She responded tearing up again. He shook his head slowly. “You know that as soon as you tell them what’s happening they will interfere. And even if they only pushed her once your planet would be doomed”. The villain was right, those were the rules. “Then I’ll do this on my own”, she started climbing the stairs but he kept following her. She kept the photo trapped inside her right fist. “Your sister has got the most dangerous weapon she could ever get her hands on. I am convinced you know about this red diamond that has a whole planet of powerful aliens captive inside of it”. The girl turned back to face him. “That’s an old tale, nobody knows if it’s real”. Slade held her right fist and lifted it up. She opened it and saw the picture again. “I know, please, leave me alone”. He pointed to Blackfire’s chest. “Look closer”, he said firmly. She gasped. Her sister had the diamond on a necklace. Her eyes started glowing again. She couldn’t believe it. Was Blackfire so power hungry?

She flew back up to her room. The door closed after her when she entered it. Her feet touched the ground again and she stood there, in front of her door. She put her forehead against the door, as she held the photo tight in her fist. She started crying silently, gasping for air once in a while. “Come on, child, you don’t have to put yourself through this alone. I can help you”. The alien girl shook her head, covering her eyes with her right hand. “You cannot. Don’t you understand? In my planet we have rules that we cannot break. I must fight her on my own and put my people out of danger”. He held his hands together on his back. He walked almost silently and stopped right in front of the big window in the alien’s room. There he could see almost every corner of Jump City. “Foolish child. My people are in danger too. I need this city, I need this planet. It’s my home. You are not listening to me”. She flew next to him and stopped herself right by his side. “Earth is not in danger”. She said swallowing another sob. “Yes it is. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. Blackfire is jealous of you. She wants what you have. She sees how much people adore you here on Earth. She wants to take this planet too because of you”. Starfire sighed. “Why does she hate me so much?”. Slade turned himself to face the teenager. “She doesn’t hate you. She envies you, she wants to be you but in her own way. You know, some of us were not born to be the hero”. Starfire avoided Slade’s comment. “What’s your plan?”, she asked facing him too. “How can I trust you with my plan after how you’ve treated me tonight”. She showed him the photo. “I trust you. But-“ Slade extended his right arm to give her a communicator with an S carved on top. “You will hear from me once I am sure my plan can be successful. Now that I’ve got you in on it I can start the preparations”. Starfire looked at her door and back at him. “How can I know you are not up to something? You hurt Robin tonight”. He let out a small laugh. “That was merely a way for me to get your attention. You wouldn’t have come near that mask if it wasn’t for Robin. Besides…” He opened the device to show her a name glowing on the screen: Deathstroke. “You wanted to know more about me. Here’s your ticket inside my mind, Koriand’r”. She looked at the screen. “Who are you?”, the princess asked. “If you keep this between us until I am sure of some things, I will answer every question you have while we prepare to take your sister down”. The sun was starting to raise and the light came through the window. “Rest, child, I’ll need you in your full capacity. Train yourself to be the best for when the time comes to get your planet back”. As the light filled up the room, Slade disappeared. Starfire hid the communicator and the photo inside the puff seat she had beside her bed. She looked through the window. The city came to life once again with the sun. Cars passed by, people were walking through the streets, stores opened their doors and many more things got back to business. She went to bed. She turned her back to the window. Even thought it was 6 in the morning, there was no way she could sleep, not even for a couple of hours. But there was one place were she could clear her mind.

She flew to the roof. She sat on the edge that didn’t face the city, it faced some mountains and woods. She sat there and remembered that time she learned to meditate, so she tried it. She levitated, legs crossed, as she repeated Raven’s phrase “Azarat metrion zinthos”. Her eyes couldn’t stay closed. There were too many thoughts and emotions in her mind. She sat back on the edge and held her face on her hands, hiding it in them, wanting to disappear. But that didn’t happen, something worse did.

As Starfire’s hands started to shake from the frustration mixed with the fear a familiar voice called her name. “Starfire?”. Robin’s voice shot through her mind. Now there was a new thought leading that war inside her mind. I cannot tell him about Slade. The Boy Wonder sat beside her. “Hey, I thought you liked to look at the city. Are you okay?”, he asked looking worried. “I am, Robin. I-I wanted to do the checking of the mountains”, the alien’s voice got softer at the end of the sentence. There was no way Robin would buy that. “Star, what is it? I know you too well. At this point there is nothing you can hide from me”. Starfire looked down to the water that surrounded the tower, she wished to jump right then and there. Robin extended his hand to her. She held it. “You are shaking, Star. Please let me know what’s going through your mind. I don’t want you to be in pain. Just let me in”. Her emerald eyes were filled with tears at this point. She looked at him, turned her body to face him more comfortably and held his face in her hands. “Can you let me in?”, she asked. He sighed. He knew this day would come. The look in her eyes didn’t give him another choice. Besides, he knew that he was safe with her. He stood up. As she looked up at him, the sun covered his face a little bit. He slowly put her hands on his face and took his mask off. Starfire stood up too. She looked at his eyes, they were so blue just like the sky. She felt like she could see his soul. She took a step closer to him. “Your eyes are so beautiful, Robin”. He chuckled at her words. How could she be so brave to just say what was in her mind?, he thought. “Do you remember that day when I ate the not cotton candy for the first time?”, Starfire asked, feeling as she was about to explode since the memory was so close to her sister’s first time on Earth. “I do, Starfire”, he replied. Suddenly her superhero name sounded funny to her. “I told you that Earth was full of amazing things. You were so excited about the colorful explosions that I do not think you remember but I was thinking about-“. “You”, her friend stopped her. “I remember, I was so scared to let you see that when you said that all I could think was that you were the most amazing thing on Earth”. Her heart was about to jump out of her chest. She normally felt so special when she was around him. Her heart always reacted to his presence, to his touch, to his words. But this time it felt like she could die in that moment and for the first time she could not find the right words to answer to that. This feeling mixed with the fear were not a good combo. She needed to take a step back. “Koriand’r”, she held her hand out. “But most of my beloved family used to called me Kory”. He smiled at this information, he already knew but it was refreshing to hear her say it. He shook her hand. “Richard but most of my ex family called me Dick”. She shook his hand back and then let it go. Her smile faded as her thoughts went back to the secret she was keeping from him. Now she knew more about Robin but she also knew more about Slade. “Hey, Star, what is it? You can tell me anything”. The alien girl let her head down and he quickly held her face in his right hand, caressing her check slowly. “It’s okay, Star, it’s all gonna be okay. I will always be here for you”. She looked up at him. “Will you?” He nodded. “Robin I am most scared of loosing you. Yesterday I was so afraid. I couldn’t help you. I disappointed you”. He put his other hand on her face. “That’s not true. I saw in the cameras how you ripped the floor open with your bare hands. I know that you are capable of so much more, that’s why I feel safe when I am with you”. She shook her head. “But you were not safe when I couldn’t see Slade. I could not protect you. And the thought of losing you scares me the most”. Her teary eyes looked like green jewels. A part of her wanted to cry because she truly didn’t see a future without him, without her team. At the same time, she knew that lying was not the best way to keep him close. But she had to do what’s best for her planet and for his too. “I want to get better, I want to practice more and I want to be ready to fight any danger that comes for you and for my friends. I cannot lose you”. “If that makes you feel better I will help you train, I will push you to be better. But, Starfire, there is no way you will lose me”. She inhaled and looked like she was about to burst into tears but didn’t want to let it happen. She sighed. “You promise?”. Richard gave her a kiss on her forehead. She closed her eyes as his lips touched her skin. She had never felt this way. If only she didn’t have to keep that secret from him.

I love Haunted from the Teen Titans 2003 series, it’s one of my favorite episodes. Specially the scene were Star rips the floor with her own hands. I love it when she show how powerful she is! This is a RobStar fanfic, yes. But you will get some bonus BBRae and to spice it up some StarX. And mainly, you will get some fun Starfire being a badass, a softie and a lot of inside on her mind (at least of my version of it). I’ve been writing this as I re watch the series for the third time so I can get the characters right. I love them in the series and I hope I did them justice.

I'm gonna use unpublished Nightwing #30 here: he and Kory had sex when he was getting ready for the agente stuff.

Once Agent 37 is off the deal, they end up finding each other again. A bit before Dick gets shoot.

And then, as usually it is between the acrobat and the alien princess, they do it again. 

Over and over again.

She gets pregnant and finds out by the time Dick is amnesic.

Don't @ me DC would do that.

Kory flies towards Bludhaven & talks to him. It's not exactly successful. As he had said to Babs before, he didn't want his memories back. Ric was happy without Dick's conscience.

But Starfire isn't asking for her; it's about him, of course. He should be himself, he worked very hard through years to become who he truly was. But mostly, she begged him to come back because of a new addition to their lives.

Pregnant alien!!

At first, Ric Grayson doesn't believe it. Actually, part of him is aware that's true, he can feel it in the change inside his heart when he saw her; something similar to shame and adoration and excitement at once. Kory moved, talked, and seemed like someone he could love, be completely crazy about.

But he wasn't a father!

Koriand'r leaves, and Grayson is by himself again. Without his Gotham or Titans affiliates.

And, for the first time, there is no comfort in that.

He could tell she wasn't lying. Even though a part of his treacherous new mind tried to convince him otherwise.

Grayson's mind didn't know any gorgeous alien, let alone a pregnant with his child alien.

Yet, Dick felt like he had her in his veins. Just like he did with Bruce, Damian, Barbara, Donna, and the others. Tickles behind his skin, a red alarm for a memory that was long lost. But the sensation of keeping it somewhere remained inside him.

Although, when it came to the redhead princess, the warmth inside him was more intense.

Dick was going to be a father. He didn't even know his whole self and would be needed to take care of someone else. Someone small, part of him, and the legacy of the Flying Grayson's. Besides, he didn't even actually remember the mother of his kid.

He calls Bruce. Telling him to bring the antidote that Barbara was keeping if he wanted his memories back.

Not for him, not because it was the right thing, not because of everyone who claimed to love him cried for Dick to do that. Not even because of familiar senses holding into him every time he interacted with someone from his past.

But because he was going to be a father.

This decision was for his child.

When Bruce, Babs, and Damian ask why, he doesn't answer.

He remembers now, and he needs to find Kory.

It's scary, exciting, and the biggest surprise she ever gave to him-- even more scandalous than the day she fell on earth and kissed him.

A dad! He would be a dad!

Jason Todd

It all started off as an unusual ordinary day; 

Roy got himself in trouble, Jason went to help him and the little problem became a bigger situation. Roy called Kory and a few minutes later, the situation was replaced by dust and fire smell. No one died, but it was enough to make the villains leave.

In the middle of ''What the fuck they wanted?" & "Who were they?" wonders, the original Outlaws heard a familiar motorcycle's noise which made Jason huff, Roy arch eyebrows and Kory confused. 

Dick Grayson was there.

He was hysterical, blue eyes flaming with worry and relief towards Kory. Between their couple discussion and the others attempt to understand what was going on 

Were they back together? Did dick know about the outlaws' way and was sticking his nose where it didn't belong? Did the titans need kory urgently? 

Until 'pregnant' left Dick's lips, being followed by Kory's chaotic scream of "Just because I am pregnant, it does not mean I can not fight!"

Roy just had to get closer to them and explain that it would make no good to go through stressful situations, especially if he got it right. 

A deep breath would be taken, and then Dick would apologize to Kory, saying he was just really scared for both of them. She'd look at her Outlaw friends and curve the corner of her lips-- that Kory smile that translate into 'I've seen hell and chose to use its flames to warm up the cold places of my heart.'

‘’Jason, Roy. . . I am expecting a baby.’’

Meanwhile, Jason was taking off his helmet and glaring at his friends with a perplexed look on his face. Also, a slightly desire of punching Dick. Last time he had heard of their relationship, it was about both of them avoiding each other, his older brother telling him to take care of Kory and Jason calling Dick an idiot. Yeah, he had to have a chat with him later.

For now, Roy was pulling him and Kory into a group hug.

Almost felt like their old times together.

Roy: Outlaw baby!!  /  Dick: Excuse me?

Tim Drake

Okay, okay. First of all, he wasn't planning on seeing any member of his family for a quite while. Not that Tim didn't want to, he was just really running out of time. Being Young Justice's leader was a full time job, and he wanted to be excellent at it.

But things don't always pass by as they were settle to. Therefore, when a disaster happens and Conner, of all people, gets hurt, Tim is in a delicate state of mind.

Drake is smart. He knows it isn't just about Conner. It's all the small things he's been keeping since Gotham.

Not enough sleep, but a certain amount of coffee to make his hands shake when it's late enough for the sun to come out weakly. His relationship with Steph is growing with disagreements from both lives; heroic and urban. His best friend is hurt because he analyzed too much a situation instead of telling his team what to do, so they made their independent choices. A dumb mistake, the kind that Batman would be disappointed of. Tim himself was biting his own neck about it. How could he be a leader? He should be better than that.

And then, he made a call. Because of all things he might be and might not be, he wasn't Batman.

Tim had friends, and a brother that would know what he was going through.

And he knew how to ask for help sometimes.

Dick comes by as fast as possible. They go to the roof and talk it out.

OF COURSE Tim is stubborn about that because Dick is Dick and he basically grew with the Titans, it wasn't the same thing. He didn't have his older brother's skills to command, communicate, etc.

He is mildly fearing that Dick won't have much time for him, but that's a matter for another time.

Listen, Bruce knows how to keep his emotions under his skin, but his eldest son being a father?

This must be the most real expression he has showed in years, and it's full of emotions; he is content, and surprised, and worried.

Some would say that Alfred was tearfully, but kept his posture. Master Bruce really made it. Obstacles, of course, even more than necessary at times. Yet, he was going to be a grandfather, and master Dick was becoming a father.

Nightwing shows up in the middle of the combat, he was in Gotham to talk to Bruce & Alfred & Damian, anyway.

Batman dispersed him, though.

And Batgirl was confused by Batman's choice, especially after listening to his explanation:

"Nightwing, this is more dangerous than our usual job. I will take Robin and Batgirl. You have more urgent thinks to be taken care of. "

The dynamic duo leaves and there is just two long time friends. 

It doesn't take a half second for Barbara to notice Dick hiding something.
