“Run that by me again please?” He had to have misheard, right? Or gotten drugged by something maybe. 

Talia sighs, sounding just as tired as he felt. “Father’s tea supplier has moved to Gotham after an argument, and he wishes to discuss the agreement of him not entering the city- to speak with said vendor.”

Demon Twin AU but Damian has been seeing ghostly visages of his twin slowly growing up with him

So, the Danny Damian Twin AUs! They're fun!

But what if, when Danny fakes his death/is killed, he actually dies and becomes a halfa as a kid? Danny because he is Danny, has the great idea to live a double life upon figuring out he can be both ghost and human!

As a human, he goes to America where he gets adopted by the Fentons and live as Danny Fenton

I headcanon that halfas are very adaptable and basically get powers according to their needs. So he figures out how to portal.

As a ghost, Danny stays around Damian and helps him out. Sometimes he slips up and Damian sees Phantom right next to him.

To Damian, this is the Pit Ghost of his brother who has come back to haunt him, made even worse when he realizes that Danny is also growing exactly at the rate he was despite being dead. He thinks that Dannys last wish was to grow up with Damian that's why he's doing that.

It gets even worse for Damian when he realizes the ghost of his dead twin brother has been helping him invisibly the entire time and it's possible that that's why Danny's staying around

Now, I need you to picture one of the Batfam seeing Danny

Imagine Damian having to explain that the ghost of his dead brother sometimes accompanies him

Of course, on Danny's human side of things, the Fentons finally made that portal and he has to take up being a hero in Amity Park. Meaning he has less time to look over Damian.

What does this look like to Damian?

It looks like his brother is fading away slowly because Danny's decided Damian is now in a safe place

This all comes to a head when Danny disappears for a long time, long enough for Damian to think he's gone gone

And then Danny comes back and he's injured or maybe he has a baby Ellie and for the first time in years actually talks to Damian and asks for help

the fact that we missed out on frigid dick + talia co-parenting during bruce’s timestream sabbatical because grant morrison is a hack makes me SO mad because it’s objectively the funniest thing they could’ve done

they’re both such haters who tragically love the same two waynes deeply. they both feel like they understand bruce the best and hate each other for it. talia was beefing with a child and the child decided to absurdly escalate the situation. dick’s begrudging, malicious respect for talia’s abilities. talia unfortunately trusting dick to take care of damian in bruces absence. he finds out talia helped jason plant a bomb on the batmobile and adds another tally on his comically large reasons i hate my stepmother pinboard.

It would be more interesting if Talia just up and kidnapped the Reader during this whole shitshow trying to get at Bruce especially, only for the Reader to really make themselves at home and completely at ease with the new predicament they’re in so long as they’re away from the batfamily. When it finally comes to Bruce and the others confronting Talia and getting their darling back, Talia gives Damian a choice to pick a side and he totally abandons his father and brothers in favor of getting to stay by the Reader’s side. Especially if they’re so content with Talia and the little life they’ve got among the League of Assassins.

do you think damian sometimes shawls like talia whenever he misses her. he definitely had a drawer full of her shawls he takes

Oh definitely. I feel like he has so many even just to help remember her and what she smells like. It could give like a sense of protection for him after he just moved to Gotham. With all the culture shock I think it would help to have the shawls with him as a way to balance himself.

I also feel like he would wrap himself in them after a particularly hard patrol, maybe a nightmare. I know the bats have definitely saw this behavior and like never said anything because it’s something so sensitive. I don’t think he would let anyone touch them, not even Alfred.

Now I don’t know if he’d ever wear them in public, it would be super cute but I feel like in the comfort of his room surrounded by his pets is when he wraps the shawls around him. He could possibly wear them around the house or in public maybe to celebrate his culture and if he needs the support he’d definitely stop caring about how others might view him wearing the shawls.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

bruce didn't really keep up with popcuture during his time traveling so when he got settled back in gotham he got into the habit of making mixtapes on cassettes, he gave a lot of them to talia when he met her and even made her a few custom ones

talia talks a lot when she gets upset while bruce shuts down, if they're both upset at the same time you'll see talia talking his ear off while bruce lays down and just listens because it makes him feel better

whenever she's in the states she always takes bruce to try different immigrant run and owned restaurants

talia loves food tours and took bruce on one while they were on vacation abroad

talia loves giving massages, she has specific oils she uses while helping bruce with his back injuries because he gets breakouts all over his skin with most essential oils

they are both autistic and so is damian

bruce makes a killer french toast and the smell of it WILL wake talia up out of a sound sleep

talia loves any and every kind of fruit except raspberries so when a fruit salad or parfait or something comes with raspberries she gives them to bruce because she thinks he likes them. he can't stand raspberries but eats them anyway

talia gets chronic migraines with seemingly no triggers so bruce has a dark room for her in the manor, it has adjustable lights and a record player so she can listen to soft music without exposing herself to the blue light of a screen

they absolutely love amusement park dates, talia gets so excited over big roller coasters and bruce spins their cars ridiculously fast on teacup rides, both of which make talia's hair fly everywhere so bruce is always adjusting it for her throughout the day

bruce speaks just as many languages as talia but his accents when speaking chinese dialects are questionable at best

damian got his habit of vocal mimicry from talia and they'll sneak around to different rooms in the manor and mess with bruce by putting on the same voice, he knows it's them but also knows they get a kick out of the first 15 seconds of his initial confusion

they both have boxes of letters from one another from their times apart, some were sent back and forth and others weren't just depending on the state of their relationship at the time

they go dancing, talia loves jazz classes while bruce is partial to tango

they can communicate with their eyes, a whole, fully understood conversation from across a room with 0 words, just 👁👁👀👁👁👀

they both need glasses and love seeing each other wear them but they always wear contacts out of convenience

Was rereading What you're looking for (you claim to abhor) and I just realized I'm a little confused on whether Jason is aware that Damian is Bruce's kid or not? Does he just think Talia had a child with someone and ended up bonding with Damian, hence he has a little brother? Or is he aware that Talia has been hiding Damian from Bruce and is too preoccupied with the whole "my family thinks i'm my own boyfriend" mess that the thought of mentioning Damian just hasn't come up?

Yes Jason is aware!

Talia never kept it a secret from him. When she took Jason in after some League operatives found him wandering around Gotham following his resurrection she only waited long enough to ascertain that he wouldn’t pose a threat to a vulnerable kid before introducing them to each other.

Jason was still mostly catatonic at the time so his memories of meeting Damian for the first time are a bit foggy, but after he was submerged in the Pit and Talia caught him up on everything she also informed him of Dami’s lineage.

Jason’s wasn’t really intent on spending time with Damian for a while after that (mostly because he didn’t remember his time before the Pit at all for a few months yet and partly because… well, he was afraid that someone looking like Bruce might trigger the Pit rage).

Damian, true to fashion, stayed away from Jason for a solid two days before he snuck away from the heavily protected Al Ghul quarters and marched through Nanda Parbat all by himself to find his self proclaimed brother.

Jason was both appalled and impressed when he found the kid fighting off two would-be assassins just outside his room. (Talia was mildly miffed that the assassins were already dead by the time she caught up to Damian)

Damian and Jason frequently trained together after that, a lot of times even with Talia personally when she wasn’t yet convinced Jason would be capable of protecting both himself and Damian from tutors who would wish them harm.

Soon the two became virtually inseparable and Jason got promoted quickly first to Damian’s personal bodyguard, then to General of the Shadows and eventually got officially adopted by Talia al Ghul in a ceremony where Ra’s also gave his consent.

Oh wow ok that got off topic real quick I’m so sorry. I’ll just leave this here anyway.

But to answer the last question: 50/50

On one hand Jason is pretty preoccupied with the whole Gotham Drama, on the other hand he never had any intention to tell Bruce about Damian in the first place. As far as he’s concerned, Damian is way better off in the safety of Nanda Parbat with a kickass mom and a homicidal grandad, far, FAR away from Bruce’s crusade and his tendency to put kids in suits.

How do you think Dick reacts to be mistaken for Damian’s father? How would Damian react if Dick didn’t correct someone making the mistake?

Okay, so before I get into that, I want to talk about how I personally see the dynamics between Damian with Bruce, Talia, and Dick. I don't accept the idea that Talia al Ghul is a bad parent or that the al Ghuls are super abusive in the way comics has portrayed them from Morrison's run and after. I think it's racist, and I think it's overall shitty writing. Damian Wayne had said he is proud of both Talia and Bruce, don't ask me where that happened. It's a miracle I even remember it happened. There's also the one thing of Dick and Damian that my pookie @confusedhummingbird reblogged one of my things with, and I'll just steal that delightful panel for your convenience.

Anyway, so basically what I'm saying is that I don't particularly enjoy when Dick is hailed as a great parent compared to Bruce and Talia. Bruce and Talia definitely have some horrible fuck-ups (with Talia's being very racist in nature, and I swear to gods if someone fucking tries arguing her character wasn't treated in a racist manner, you're getting blocked so fucking fast). Like Bruce definitely did some fucked up shit too, but in general, I don't necessarily think he does a completely shit job at being a dad. In fact, when Batman is written in a halfway decent way, he is a pretty good dad in my opinion.

While Dick definitely did a good job with Damian, I think it would be pretty out of character for Dick to just discount Bruce and Talia's role as parents for Damian unless it was something pretty big and bad for Damian, in which case Bruce and Talia are probably being written fucking weirdly.

So onto your actual question! I think Dick would be...not bashful, but somewhere in there. I also think he'd just take it in stride and not correct them unless Damian wanted him to. He definitely doesn't want to overstep those kinds of boundaries with Damian if he has them. I also think depending on where they are at/what they are doing definitely contributes to how he'd react. Like when they were out as Batman and Robin, definitely was fine with the dad-son thing there. Out as Nightwing and Robin, doesn't bother to correct them. I don't think they'd get mistaken for being father-son in Gotham or in Blüdhaven, and I don't think any hero would mistake them for being father-son unless they were like new, new. But yeah, just depends.

I don't think Damian would really correct someone now. When Bruce died, in the period he was really learning from Stephanie, Dick, and Alfred, he probably would've corrected them. I don't think so now. I think family dynamics are a lot more fluid than people like to claim they are. Personally, I have a lot of people I see in parental roles, and one of them (which I don't see anymore because they are racist) were in a similar age range that Dick and Damian are. I didn't get mad or correct people when they thought I was their kid. I was either 1) embarrassed, 2) didn't care to make the effort to correct them, and 3) happy to be seen as such close family to them. That, and all the changes going on in his life at that time, and Dick's pretty much unwavering support for Damian leads me to believe that Damian wouldn't mind being seen as Dick's kid. I think he understands that Dick took on a parental role for him, and he can understand that he still has his biological parents to rely on.

SO! Basically, Dick doesn't correct people because I don't think a lot of people in their life would get it confused, and Damian doesn't mind because Dick is a parental figure in his life, and it isn't some sort of replacement figure for his biological parents.

Babies can die if they don’t have enough physical contact. This is something that is known, but Talia does not have time to spend with her twins, and it’s not like she carried them thanks to the false Lazarus womb, so she didn’t even have that excuse to use. 

What she did have, was a near braindead teen who could be taught things through muscle memory. 

Which is how Jason ended up caring for a pair of toddlers between any training, even after his dip in the Pit. Well, he cared for them until he left for Gotham, to enact his plans, even if he continued to call them every week. 

But that wasn’t enough for little Damian and Danyal.

Where had their caretaker gone? Away from them? Where is Baba? Across the sea? Unacceptable. They will not stand for this! 

Which in turn, is how Jason discovers his the twins outside his safehouse window, having somehow made it to Gotham on their own- what the fuck, kids!?

as in, jason is actually a meta-human who can’t die. the only reason he stayed dead as long as he did in the first place is because of how fucked his body was after everything the joker put him through and he needed to “heal.” even then he was still recovering after literally digging himself out of his grave

however, since he most definitely can’t remember shit until after his dip in the lazarus pit, he doesn’t know. talia kept her mouth shut because knowledge is power, jason never asked because he was Angry and there were no other witnesses

Jason was around 17 mentally and at a stretch he might have been physically 18 or 19 when he slept with Talia who was around her 40s (and that's me being generous since she literally has a fountain of youth so it's near impossible to really know her age). Now that's just physically and all I'll say is even just physically while that might be legal if he was physically 18, if he was a girl and she was a man we'd all say that's disgusting and the man is a creep.

BUT it gets worse when you factor in the fact Jason spent at least 2 and a half years being brain dead.

Like let's do the maths Jason dies at 15. In universe he's dead for 6 months and then wakes up in his coffin, still mentally and physically 15. Then spends 1 year braindead in Gotham, physically 16 but mentally still 15. Jason is then found by Talia and she tries to nurse him back to health for a year, physically 17, mentally still 15. Then she drops him in the Lazarus Pit and he comes out mentally and physically healed of all lingering wounds hence the sudden growth spurt since it cured his stunted growth. However physically still only 17 and mentally still only 15 since he did not actually LIVE those 2 years. Right out of the Lazarus Pit she kisses him, already red flag cause in no way shape or form did Jason consent to that and under no metric is he old enough to be able to consent to being kissed by a 40+ year old.

Now let's say she sleeps with him a year later, even two years later. OK physically he's 18/19 Mentally he's only 16/17, AND he's almost completely at the mercy of The League of Assassins at that time as they are the ones providing him with everything he needs in order to go back to Gotham and become Red Hood. So what I'm saying is I don't care how the creepy old comic book writers want to depict it, I don't care if the writer didn't know Jason's age (they shouldn't be writing for these characters then) Jason Todd was not mentally old enough to consent.

Even at the most generous I can be with the timeline (Jason is roughly 19 in UTRH based on comic panels from comics coming out around that time where Bruce takes... I think Cassandra to Jason's grave and says it would be his 18th birthday so he's AT MOST 19, maybe even younger during that arc but again I'm trying to be as generous to Talia here as I can so we'll say 19) mentally Jason is not old enough to be consenting to sex with a woman of Talia's age. And I'll say it again, no one would be trying to argue with me on this if the genders were reversed, we'd all just agree the older man is a creep and clearly not a surrogate parental figure for the teenager they fucked so the fact I have to keep saying that depicting Talia like Jason's surrogate mother is creepy and wrong, is just sad honestly.
