ACTIVITY UPDATE

so as i'm starting my new job on thursday, just wanted to make a little notice regarding my activity on shift days. nothing much is going to change in terms of replies or writing speed bc i'm already slow af, but just as a heads up:

i now work nights thursday, friday & saturday, which means i'll be pretty absent in dms and such on those nights except for when i'm on break(s). my shifts don't end until 7am, at which point i will absolutely come home and crash tf out, so whatever writing i do will probably be done during the day and scheduled/queued to post later, or will be done in the evenings before i leave for work

i will also ask for a little more patience (you're already all so patient-) while i settle into a new routine bc... stress. and i have no idea how the job is gonna affect me in terms of health bc my last job was a very casual, 4-hours-a-week deal and involved largely sitting at a desk, and this one is.... not at all like that. so things may be a bit sporadic (a bit more sporadic) for a while until i get used to things

but like i said: nothing much is gonna change overall. i'll still be here to chat and plot & respond to any replies or asks sent my way!

Into the Ninjaverse: Concept Talk

Oh boy, okay-

Good timezone, my lovelies! So, here's how this is going to work- I'm only going to pick one of the variants of the AU (more specifically, it's the one where it fuses the Ninja suit with Spidermen/Spider Society lore because I just can). Now keep in mind, none of this is officially canon for the time being but that will be revealed eventually!

I'm going to break this down into three categories: characters, headcanons, and general infodumping/lore explanation! Good luck because this is extremely messy hahaha. Fair warning! This is going to be a long post.

Character Concepts

OG (Canon) Universe/E-1610

Randy Cunningham: This is Randy from the canon/show universe- with some differences to fit the narrative! He's only been the Ninja for a few months, still adjusting to everything but this eludes the canon ever so slightly- in this verse, he has yet to fully face the Sorcerer but he does deal with stankings! The Sorcerer just isn't a major threat at the moment- this is likely set somewhere in the middle between the two seasons

Howard Cunningham: Howard is, of course, Randy's best friend! He mostly stays true to his canon persona- though with some minor differences. He's slightly more involved in the battles, serving as backup at times for the Ninja and occasionally patches him up when things get a little dire. Despite his manipulative tendencies, he still cares for Randy.

First Ninja/Finja/???: The first official Ninja of Norrisville. He's soul-bound to the Nomicon- he can't leave it, but he can vaguely communicate with Randy via dreams. His canon plays out the same where the Norisu 9 committed the "ultimate sacrifice" against the Sorcerer and he just exists as something akin to a spirit/ghost within the Nomicon. He's Randy's mentor- very no-nonsense attitude.

Alternate Universe/E-616

Finja/Ninja of Norrisville/???: This version of Finja is technically meant to hold the spot of Peter B Parker. He has long since 'retired' as being the Ninja of Norrisville, and isn't necessarily lazy per se but he isn't active as the Ninja anymore. Certain details are, of course, being kept vague- his canon event is fairly obvious (coughs the Norisu 9 coughs) but there's some differences to this reality. Finja exists in modern times due to undisclosed reasons. He's a little wary of Randy's endless/relentless optimism. The only thing I can say right now is he ended up in OG! Randy's universe- he was found unconscious and a little injured, resulting in Randy deciding to help him.

Howard Weinerman: Howard is an adult in this reality- his life as a Norrisville High student was what you would expect when there is the Ninja and he grew up to become a teacher, of all available jobs. His best friend, Randy, ended up becoming a well-known idol. There's not a lot to be known about him- for now, at least. I don't see him being incredibly important for now. I just want to share concept ideas!

Alternate Universe/E-14512

Theresa Fowler/The Purple Ninja: Theresa is one of the Ninjas in an alternate timeline- a little similar to Peni's but not quite. Her alias is The Purple Ninja as her outfit looks purple in the universe she's a part of. In that dimension, Theresa and Randy's relationship is friendly but they're not dating- Randy's only a civilian after all, and she does follow the Nomicon's rules to not get too close to others. She fears putting him at risk.

Randy Cunningham: In some other life, perhaps- Randy and Theresa would be together but that is not this reality. Randy's a civilian who was never chosen to bear the mantle of the Ninja and instead works at the Game Hole with his best friend Howard Weinerman. He's friends with Theresa Fowler, but he isn't aware that she's also the Purple Ninja.

Alternate Universe/E-318

Spike/The Punk Ninja: requested by @just-animaxiz Spike is somehow appointed the Ninja in this universe- due to a shift in that universe's canon, Spike is a protector to Norrisville and has extreme issues with authority, preferring his sense of anarchy over anything else. There's not an official Ninja due to, well, reasons but we'll get to that later. Though, he's occasionally seen with a young teenager- the two seem fairly close.

Alternate Universe/E-928

Nomi/Nomicon: the equivalent to Miguel O' Hara. In this universe, Nomi is an immortal being who takes on the mantle of the Ninja- though, something seems to have gone wrong... he's cold, reserved, and distrusting of everyone and everything. While he's not literally Miguel O' Hara, Nomi believes in the order of the Ninjas and he isn't too keen on OG! Randy, but that's all I'm going to say right now.

Additional Characters

Howard Weinerman/???: Ho' boy, you are going to get a kick with this one. Howard is from one of the few canons where things are... different- he interned for a little under Viceroy and then sort of went off the radar for a while, but of course upon the multiverse opening- he meets OG! Randy and seems almost saddened surprised (?) to see him.

How do I explain the rest of the characters without accidentally spoiling my own AU? Would anyone even want to see this as a fanfiction- this is going to take a lot of work, planning, and time so we'll see how this works out. Boy, I'm excited for this one but I still have a new fic to write and whatnot-

Headcanons

McFist and King Pin are meant to share similar roles- for what I feel are obvious reasons. The difference is that McFist's goal is to open a gateway or something that will allow the Sorcerer to escape and it's something they'd both benefit from. Unfortunately due to shenanigans, and even with Viceroy's intervention, it caused a rift- breaking the typical laws of time and space which led to the leak

OG! Randy isn't an anomaly per se- i don't know what direction this is taking right now, so nothing is fully confirmed yet but just know, there will be plans for him. Although he is a bit like Miles Morales!

616 Finja is Having a Time and he's exceptionally stressed from the fact he's involved with ninjas again, but that's all I'm saying for now

Randy and Howard from Punk Ninja's canon are in a rock/punk rock band! Because I said so

This next part came to me from reading thesoundofmadness' own multiverse/randyverse AU! I feel like not everyone is going to have a nomicon :) do with this what you will for now

Spike isn't technically the Ninja but because the Ninja apparently hasn't been sighted, he somehow took over- i'm still working this part out

E-318 Spike and OG! Randy have the same type of relationship Hobie has to Miles, but that's all you're getting from me-

I am struggling with ideas right now, unfortunately so now we get to the last part-

Infodumping

Everything starts from OG! Randy's timeline- after a few months of being the Ninja, he's starting to get the hang of things, but he manages to uncover one of McFist's ploys and ends up caught in a fierce battle. He manages to escape- only managing to get what appears to be a USB and then books it back home. Sometime after, within a few days of infiltrating McFist Industries, Randy is out on patrol when a weird wormhole opens up and this is when he meets 616 Finja. Things go a little south when realizing Finja is unconscious, and after only a little struggle- Randy manages to take Finja back home since, thankfully, his parents aren't home. Feeling a little wary, he has the brilliant idea to tie 616 Finja to a chair- trying to get answers and it starts getting a little weird

Deciding 616 Finja isn't a threat, Randy lets him go but then offers him a place to stay- since his parents are barely ever home, there's not a problem doing this. Things are extremely awkward because he never considered there were other universes and now, well, here this other version of Finja is here- in the flesh. Randy has to continue going to school, but that's where something gets a little... weird because he feels like he's being watched

Now this is where our fun lore rambles kick in

The Ninja suits are infused with the same type of material as a spider-suit and gives them similar abilities- as well as the abilities that come with being the Ninja on the account of I said so. Since it's obvious that the Ninja suits are magical, this felt extremely plausible for ITNV as a whole

The Nomicon is a sentient being in every universe- there are very few where it'll reveal itself as a human. The only known dimension where this has been known to happen is in E-928 (and well, wherever the Ninja Society is located)

Each Ninja has different skills, abilities, and powers at their disposal. Some are universal to every single known Ninja in existence- like the sword for instance, and the smoke-bombs and whatnot but some things will change

Do canon events exist? Well- sort of :) let's just say that I have ideas because OG! Randy is something of an outlier and each universe is still different

Nomirandy will be showing up in one of these universe, but again more spoilers! I don't want to ruin the entire AU in one-go. I will say that there's no endgame ship here. For, well- a number of reasons. One that the AU isn't meant to be as ship heavy and more centered on the plot and expanding lore

The villains are exactly what you'd expect- but uh, with Across the Ninjaverse technically also being canon, this could change. Nomi's role is a little complex, because he's not literally Miguel O' Hara but he's also weirdly not a fan of OG! Randy either- it's... complicated, especially in the form of an idea that isn't complete yet

Spells from the Shadow Warrior's temple might be referenced a lot more here!

I'm going to add more when I have the chance since I'm not feeling my best right now and let's just say there is more to come! There's also just the fact I can't fully share everything hahaha

Extra Information

Much like we’d expect from other multiverse media, the dimensions collapsing because of being in the wrong reality- well, that applies here too! It might work a little differently so as to keep the leads safe for obvious reasons!

The Kitsune and the Dragon are my own flair to the ‘crossover’! Whether they’re original characters or canons is a different story! I will always be original character friendly, that won’t change no matter what I write-

As referenced in older posts, each Ninja is tied to a specific element and has a signature move they typically use- almost always connected back to that element. I’m uncertain at the moment if that’s going to be used here, but I will say that Randy’s definitely fire coded- like that boy is a Gryffindor but anyway, I’ll be writing more for this crossover soon!

South Africa vs Israel Hearings this week

I mostly just post fandom stuff here, but for the avoidance of doubt: Free Palestine.

Later this week, the International Court of Justice will hear South Africa's claim that Israel is committing genocide against Palestine and will consider whether to grant the requested interim order. The details of this claim are publicly available here and definitely worth a read. Since it's a fairly long document however, I'll also put my attempt at a (non-lawyer, best efforts only) summary below:

Israel and South Africa are both signatories to the Genocide Convention, meaning that they must not themselves commit, incite or support genocide and that they must also enforce the prohibition on other member states. This case has been put to the ICJ, which is not a criminal court but instead responsible for resolving disputes between nations. This does not prohibit (and may even support) similar claims being submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) at later dates.

To meet the legal definition of "genocide", the acts must be committed with a clear genocidal intent. The accusation is therefore that Israel has a) engaged in a variety of acts that have both directly killed, injured and displaced people and which have created conditions unsuitable for life in Gaza, and b) done so with the intent of destroying, in whole or part, a nation, race or ethnic/religious group.

As of the time I write this, Al Jazeera's live tracker states that at least 23,167 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank since 7th October, along with 62,216 injured and more than 7,000 missing. More than half of Gaza's homes have been destroyed or damaged, and 23 of 36 hospitals are not functioning. 370 educational facilities, 104 ambulances and 203 places of worship have been damaged or destroyed. South Africa's submission further details attacks on agriculture, bakeries and etc. as further evidence of Israel rendering Gaza uninhabitable.

South Africa's submission quotes several major government and IDF representatives as evidence for the "intent" component. It also states that various efforts have been made outside of court, including contacting Israel in advance of the submission, to try to stop the claimed genocide, and that Israel has failed to adequately respond to those concerns.

Actually finding a party guilty of breaching the code may take years and a high burden of proof, however the application seeks an urgent interim order to halt the claimed genocidal acts, which can be granted on the balance of probability (i.e. whether the case has merit at face value) rather than an absolute finding of fact.

An order of this nature can however be ignored - noting for example that a similar order was previously made against Russia in regards to its invasion of Ukraine - however it could have material impacts on both the internal perception of its acts and the external support from Western nations, including the USA. It may prompt some nations to implement sanctions.

Israel have publicly stated that they will fight the claim.

The hearings are scheduled for Thursday 11th January and Friday 12 January, from 10am to 12pm local time, which looks to be 8pm AEST, 1am PST, 3am CT and 4am ET (European timezones are NOT kind to the USA, sorry). It looks like you can watch them online. And of course, you can check the news or ICJ website afterwards.

As above, even if an order is made this does not automatically result in a ceasefire - however Israel remains reliant on the support of Western nations and especially the USA, and that support may be impacted by the results. It may also help to shift media framing and public opinion. If nothing else, it'll be something new to point your local member of Parliament towards.

tae's solo has been everything i wanted and more so far!!! i can't wait to see the rest of his album.

but a lot of the negativity is throwing me off and i feel like people sound so defeated way too early when his debut has just started. like is he not doing extremely well objectively? i do think when it comes to kcharts they could be better but i've also heard people say the kcharts heavily rely on gp, not fandom. so i'm not surprised with the charting since the songs were announced less than a week ago and have received practically no promo. but the songs have been steadily rising! a lot of people have also been upset about the youtube views, but i think lma did pretty well and rainy days was about on par with the other member's solo releases so i don't think it's super disappointing. and it's no secret that less "flashy" mvs get less views and considering the mvs are both more slow paced i think this is still good!! and let's not forget he was able to get #1 on itunes in all major music markets and dozens of other countries, and the songs were often blocking each other. and now for spotify he pulled almost 4 mil each. and these are bsides!!

and maybe i'm not as disappointed because i knew they were bsides and so i was ready for most people to treat them like bsides. im hoping there'll be more momentum for slow dancing since it's the title track, and by then hopefully there'll be more promo as well.

like i get why people are disappointed but when you consider the context, i think tae has done really well so far. and i think this negativity isn't good for anyone. now if we see similar energy towards slow dancing then i'll be angry but i think we just need to wait and see how things play out. it can only get better from here and im so excited for taehyung!!

i completely agree! the negativity won’t help anyone and in general terms WE DID WELL because we got like 14 hours for love me again mv and 48 hours for TWO bsides, and we know the fandom is kinda bad at multitasking so it’s not that shocking, also two bsides that got no teasers or anything so.

To be honest, i am disappointed in kcharts but at the same time not really because karmys really never stream, we hold them on such a high pedestal but they’ve been slacking off so much recently (past year) and it’s concerning, like at what point will they realize that we can’t be the only one streaming and that they should do their part? like BUGS is such an easy chart, but the numbers were disappointing there too.

spotify usa streams also disappointed me… 300k is a bit low and i understand the timezone, being busy and whatsover, but still. spotify global streams have been good in the end, i mean layover alr at 10M streams and it’s prior release too. i’m gonna hope we get some teasers and some hype for slow dancing, major playlisting and some good promotion so that we can aim to big numbers and maybe give taehyung a high debut on hot100 because thats what he truly deserves but we need to motivate eo and not bring eo down bc that just won’t help. so yeah stream and have fun! :)

aline and antonio neves originated from sao paulo, brazil. antonio was a corporate communications director with a hefty salary, while aline was a freelance artist. propositioned by his company to move to the united states, the family began preparations for their big move to albuquerque, new mexico. two and a half years later, not long after their arrival, catarina was born four minutes after her twin brother, matheus. the family was well-adjusted and happy, offering a stable environment for the twins to thrive in. the twins grew up comfortably, doted on by their parents, and developed an unmatched bond from an early age. matheus and catarina did everything together throughout their childhood, relying on one another for strength and protection. catarina especially exhibited protective behaviors toward her sibling despite the gender roles, though she struggled with some anger problems from an early age. the anger seemed to correlate with the moon cycle, and catarina had her worst nights when the moon was full in the sky. her anchor was her brother; when they were together, the anger would almost disappear into nothing.

throughout their elementary and middle schooling, matheus and catarina were inseparable and highly sociable; the twins had little to no problems getting along with everyone and performing in school. where cat lacked in her math abilities, matheus excelled and offered her assistance; the roles were reversed when it came to english classes. catarina always showed an interest in art, especially renaissance-style paintings. she spent most of her free time painting and researching art styles and occupations. matheus, on the other hand, was a talented soccer player, taking after his father. while they focused on their passions, they shared homework with one another. catarina’s support system for her aspirations was vast and diverse, filled with both family and loyal friends. high school was no different for the twins, though catarina did spend most of her time with her high school sweetheart, james.

upon graduation, the twins and james stayed in albuquerque for college. matheus landed a soccer scholarship, and catarina chose a major in art with plans to pursue a career as an art conservator. catarina got a job as a bartender with the intention of supporting herself despite her parent’s help with tuition. her experience was one of true happiness and stability, making it easy to focus on her studies. by age twenty, james and catarina were engaged to be married and living together with plans to move to brazil in four years time.

in an effort to celebrate their twenty-first birthdays, catarina and matheus made their way to chicago. walking back to their hotel from the bar, the twins were mugged at knifepoint. despite their attempts at fighting back with their pocketknives, catarina sustained multiple stabs and matheus was fatally wounded. in a fit of rage, catarina was able to take down the mugger with her weapon and gathered her strength to call for help; she miraculously survived with four scars to show for it in her abdomen. the death of her twin brother would send catarina into a lasting depression that would destroy her existing relationship with james.

this incident would also be the catalyst to triggering her werewolf gene. despite her wounds, she felt stronger than ever and found that when the full moon came around, she would shift. confiding in her family about this occurrence, they revealed their knowledge of the same thing happening to past generations of their family, though it seemed no living relative was cursed with this affliction. the shock of this discovery and the death of matheus led catarina to isolate herself from her loved ones; her happy-go-lucky spirit was dead and gone, replaced with feelings of hopelessness and sorrow. as a result, catarina called off her engagement, dropped out of college, and moved away to new york.

the next seven years of her life were somewhat of a haze. every full moon, without fail, she would shift. five days a week, she would work as a bartender and manage to steal a couple drinks throughout the night. catarina gave no one the chance to even get close to her; her only friend was a bottle of booze ( until it would inevitably become as empty as she was ). the alcohol numbed her pain, enabling her to avoid her emotions.

at the age of 28, catarina was close to committing suicide. her life had become unbearable, and she could no longer numb her pain. it had caught up to her. before she got the chance, catarina was exposed to the lotus pack, and not long after, the erebus motorcycle club. her hardened demeanor stayed, a permanent part of her now, but she felt like she had finally found a home, a place where she belonged. joining the club as a prospect, with the support of her pack, cat was finally able to process the changes that had occurred in her life all those years ago. it was at this point that catarina met her now-fiance, as well. catarina put all of her efforts into protecting her new family, and being around other werewolves did wonders for her recovery. five years after joining, catarina was appointed the sgt at arms position in the club. she was tasked with keeping the order, ensuring club rules are not violated, and ensuring the exiting of members was handled well. based in queens, catarina now has a new life, one filled with feelings of belonging and contentment.

Firstly, I want to let everyone know that Daylight Savings begins tomorrow in the admin’s timezone, so, if you do not observe this, acceptances will be an hour earlier than you’re used to beginning tomorrow until November. Acceptances will be at 6PM EDT / 7AM KST.

Other than that, I’m back with another admin post before the one planned for our anniversary. I wanted to let everyone know the results of the recent poll regarding activity and schedules, as well as ask for member opinion on some more matters. This admin post does involve another poll, so I apologize in advance for anyone who isn’t fond of those, but you’re welcome not to answer if you would prefer not to!

Poll results

As a result of the majority opinion on the polls, activity checks will now be conducted requiring two posts since the last activity check for points. At least one must be a thread starter or reply, while the other can be a thread post or a solo or headcanon of 400+ words.

One qualifying post, or multiple solos/headcanons but no thread post, since the last activity check will result in a warning.

No qualifying posts since the last activity check will result in removal. 

This system will be implemented beginning with our next activity check on March 19.

Some smaller activity tweaks will come around our fourth anniversary, but for now I’d like to give everyone two weeks to adjust to this first!

Schedules will also now be done quarterly on a trial basis, beginning in April.

Note: I would like to remind everyone to please only vote once in these polls. I make them anonymous so no one feels discouraged from participating, but there was one particular instance that seemed suspicious to me as the same person submitting multiple votes. I didn’t delete the votes since it didn’t change the end result and there’s always a chance this was a coincidence, but I do take note of that kind of thing since I want to make sure member opinion is being reflected accurately!

Soloist positions

Currently, all of our canon soloist positions are open. Recently, there hasn’t been as much interest in soloist positions as group positions, and I understand these positions also often have less in their monthly schedules and are limited in some claims. I’ve also had some people suggest removing these positions and/or sharing that they don’t find the canon soloist positions particularly appealing in the context and limitations of the universe, so I wanted to check if canon soloist positions were something people were still interested in keeping, or if it would be more beneficial to do away with them.

I’m going to keep the positions from reserves being made while I have the poll running that will be linked at the end of this post to see if they should be kept.

If kept, things will proceed as normal.

If majority votes to remove them, the spots will be removed and their music will be opened for points claims. If this happens, muses with past claims related to canon soloist positions (features / music video roles) may choose to either drop the claim all together or switch it to a new claim. (I’d be open to discussing making an exception for some of the past claims rules like past features needing to be in the same company to accommodate this since it would be inconveniencing these muns). Muses with points claims related to canon soloist positions will have the choice to reclaim their points in full or keep the claim as a feature / mv appearance for an undefined song by an outside, NPC soloist with the same achievements and history if they had specific development linked to it. Certain storylines linked to canon soloist positions would be reworked if they’re an important narrative, ex. Dimensions buying out a company in Dimensions Soloist 3′s backstory, BC doing something to distract from the legal situation with the former Lipstick member in BC Soloist 1′s backstory.

Adding to Fuse’s model discography

Fuse is one of the few groups remaining in the roleplay with only one model group in their discography. Their company has stated Red Velvet is aiming for a comeback, but since they haven’t come back in over a year as a full group and don’t have a lot of group activities in recent times for a number of reasons, I’ve been looking into adding to their discography to ensure Fuse can have a comeback this summer. I haven’t found any groups that have really completely stuck out to me on my own, though there are a few possibilities in consideration, so I wanted to throw this out to members of the roleplay to ask who might want to see added / think might fit in the poll. As usual, this is completely optional and you only have to answer if you have any suggestions.

Recent bullying allegations 

I’ve gotten a few questions in the ask box about this, so I apologize for not answering them up to this point, but I was didn’t want to prematurely make any decisions while news was/is still coming out. I’m going to touch base with a few members individually soon, but a public address on any actions taken in response to these allegations will eventually be up.

For now, actor Kim Jisoo and April members Kim Chaewon, Lee Naeun, Yang Yena, Lee Jinsol, and and ex-member Jeon Somin are going to be treated as banned in the interim before I get full member input since they’ve been linked to allegations that raise triggers beyond bullying as well and members have, in similar situations in the past, voiced discomfort with faceclaims involved in those triggering topics. I am aware that parts of these allegations have been officially denied by their companies, but due to the aspects of these allegations being severe and denial being dependent on trusting the word of the company, I wouldn’t find it appropriate to leave those case entirely unaddressed at this time.

I will also ask that anyone interested hold off on applying with other face claims wrapped up in the recent bullying allegations until I’m able to make a complete statement after seeking member opinion. Anyone using a faceclaim who has been or gets wrapped up in such allegations is welcome to contact me to request a faceclaim change out of that faceclaim, even if their waiting period isn’t up yet, though I won’t be specifically asking anyone to change at this moment in time. Model groups are something that will be addressed either personally with muns affected or at a later time if necessary after seeking member opinion as well.

In the poll that will be linked below, I ask for member input on what they would be most most comfortable with regarding the requirements for banning / not banning a faceclaim with bullying allegations against them. I left this open for freeform reply instead of multiple choice since it seemed hard to encompass all guidelines that someone might see as suitable. Note that this is entirely optional, so if you don’t have an opinion or if you’re not comfortable discussing the topic, you don’t have to reply. If you need some time to think, you don’t need to answer right away. This will not be treated exactly as a poll with the most popular answer being the final decision, but instead, as a forum for members to provide their input all in one place so that I can be aware of where members stand. As admin, I’ll use this to help inform the final decision, though not strictly control it.

[ Summary: Lunch was enjoyed, Félix has a message, and more talk happens as they return to school. ]

The group of students spent the remainder of their lunch period eating to their hearts’ content. Marinette and Barbara had pitched in together to make sandwich wraps, something the latter had compared to being “just like a burrito!” Everything else was bread and pastries brought up from the bakery below.

“Those were the best scones I ever had, I wish I could live here and eat them every day,” Babs lamented as they all gathered their things, preparing to return to school.

The others giggled at her antics and Marinette shrugged. “You get used to them; besides, those were only the rejects, you should try what they sell in the counter displays.”

“Rejects? Those were rejects? But they were perfect! Absolutely delicious!” 

Marinette only shrugged again with a sheepish grin. Kara chuckled, knowing the reason for the ‘rejects’. Nino, who also understood the reason, hid his laugh at the continued dramatics and answered the unspoken question.

“Yeah, dude, they’re the stuff that didn't come out quite right. Not good enough to sell, y’know? But they're still just as edible as everything else, so they bring them up here to eat with meals.”

“Anything we don't eat with lunch or keep for dinner, we donate,” Marinette finished the explanation, standing from her barstool perch at the countertop table. 

“Is that where you get the macaroons for your class?” Karen gestures to the now empty macaroon box sitting in the recycling can. The last of them had been taken by the girls, Nino content with his scones.

Marinette shook her head, swinging her bag over her shoulder. “Made those ones myself from our home supplies. I stopped letting Maman and Papa give me some from the bakery once I perfected the recipes myself. Still as good as my parents’, Nino?”

The boy gave her two thumbs up and a nod with a big smile. “Can’t even tell the difference, dudette.”

“Aw, sure you can, Major!” Kara exclaims, calling Nino by one of her music-based nicknames for him. “Can't you taste it? She puts much more love into the baking she does for her friends.” 

There’s barely a beat before the group bursts into laughs and giggles at the claim, and Marinette covers her blushing embarrassment with her hands. However, she can't help but smile with a bit of appreciation and pride at the statement.

“Thank you, Kara, I’m glad you liked them. Come on guys, it’s a bit of a walk back to the lycée.” She sighs, and adds in lament, “I’m going to miss the days of walking to the collège; living right next door is a blessing I never savored.”

Nino nods in understanding, patting her back and staring at a chain of all the girls following suit in their own pats of comfort, bringing out a giggle from the now comforted girl. 

As everyone files out the door and heads down the stairs, Marinette holds the door and leaves last. “Head out the ground floor’s back door, the lunch rush is too busy to get through,” she reminds the group as they head down. Her phone chimes in her pocket as she descends the last of the steps, and she pulls the device out as she exits outside. 

“Félix?” Her brow scrunches in confusion and she frowns, pulling the attention of her friends.

“Adrien’s cousin?” Nino asks, stepping closer.

“The Luthor boy?” Babs voiced her own curiosity.

“You mean the Graham de Vanily heir?” Karen pitches in, a little more excited.

Kara breaks the chain of questioning the identity of Félix with a: “What did he say?”

“‘Something doesn't seem right about today. Be careful. And just in case, keep that reporter’s contact open. Paris may need assistance.’” Marinette read the message out loud, her confusion turning to worry.

“I've never gotten a message like this from him before. He never contacts me during school hours, either, even breaks. I wonder what’s wrong…” As she muses, she sends a simple return text: ‘Will do. And you too, Fé. Let’s hope it’s nothing.’

She doesn’t voice her reply before she puts the phone away, or the last one from Félix. 

‘We shall see.’

“That was…ominous,” Babs voices skeptically as the group resumes their walk back towards the school. 

“He can get like that sometimes, it’s nothing to worry about,” Maritnette shrugs, trying to brush the new worry off everyone’s shoulders. As the only one of them who had been around him the most so far, she was the only one at the moment who could reassure them. And as such, she didn’t voice that Félix’s hunches were usually right in some way or another. Yet she refused to worry anyone else any further, and kept the tidbit to herself.

Her efforts seem to work as the others seem to relax. All except Kara, looking pensive.

Marinette and Kara both drop to the back of their small group, a couple paces behind the other three who had struck up a new conversation about Nino’s hat and the girls’ preferences of headgear that didn't act difficult with their longer hair. 

“Rolling Penny for your thoughts?” Marinette jokes to the hero, who snorts at the play on words with their shared interest in music.

“Get me a Stone with Jagged edges and you can have your pick of thoughts for the rest of our lives.” Marinette laughs as she imagines handing over her only famous commissioner as a trade offering.

She shakes her head and chuckles, “No can do, that’s a free Stone, no keeping it like a pet rock. You'll have to settle for the Penny.”

Kara taps her chin in thought before snapping, smirking with a tease; “How ‘bout a nice crystal cluster instead? I hear Geodes are pretty and valuable.”

The teased girl snorts and shakes her head. “This crystal is already around you often enough. I’ll add in extra tarts to our next hang out, would you consider that payment enough?”

“It’ll do, for now,” was the joking return, and the two shared a laugh.

“But really, Kara, what is it? Is Félix’s text bothering you?”

A shrug, and then, “Well, yeah, I’m still a little wary around him, ya’know? His dad was still Lex Luthor, and no hero, let alone any Kryptonian, could trust that man to be as far away from us as we could throw him; and trust me, we could have thrown him far if we wanted to. And you say Félix says things like that a lot?? It sounds a lot like something similar to my original suspicions about you.”

Marinette glances back up at Kara quizzically. “What suspicion in particular?”

“Well the whole ‘Kryptonite in your body’ thing isn't exactly a common thing. Seeing Félix at the same time I saw those crystals in you? Painted a really bad picture. Lex wasn't exactly against human experimentation.”

She recalled a few of the stories both Supergirl and Alya had told her about Lex Luthor, even a few of his family getting their hands dirty in the same villainous business, and factoring in the new information, Marinette understood a bit more about how easy  it could be to have suspicions like this against people around the Luthor family. Not to mention the family itself.

“So, you think...Monsieur Luthor did something to Félix?” She was a bit alarmed at the conclusion, worry coating her words and thoughts. 

“That, or he’s just a really observant guy. But! Now it’s your turn not to worry about it!” Kara explains, her voice gaining a light cheerfulness and reassurance as she pulls Marinette against her side with one arm. “School is no time to fret over anything except making it to the last bell.”

Marinette laughs and leans into the side-hug, taking comfort in it. “Since when did you prefer school over thinking about all the potential future dangers you could be punching into the sun?”

“Since I had friends to hang out with,” was the returned quip, and an added, “And no more etiquette classes was a huge bonus, too.”

“They have etiquette in America?”

“Nope, on Krypton, it was kinda a thing for me. Kal got lucky.” The Kryptonian scoffs. “But I have a feeling I'm going to dread being at my new home because I'll be suffering through it again,” she groans, nodding out towards the school they could now see down the street.

A glaringly obvious person decked out in all yellows, white and black was standing out front.

“Chloé? What did she do this time? Is this why she was glaring at you all morning?”

“Yep,” Kara scowls, “Publicity stunt from her dad, he offered to host the cousin of world-renowned reporter Clark Kent during her stay in Paris. Lady Bourgeois over there doesn't like my ‘uncivilized, barbarian lifestyle’,” she mocked with a sarcastic one-handed air quote and an eye-roll.  

“She’s a bit of a handful, I can agree with that,” Marinette smiled sympathetically, suppressing a laugh at the inaccurate jabs. “I’ll help you out if you want, I’ve dealt with her for enough years to gain a life-long tolerance.”

“I’ve got your number; I’ll call you if I need to. Or,” came the teasing tone, “I’ll just do it anyways; I could never get tired of talking with you.” 

With a laugh and an eye-roll of her own, Marinette stepped away from the other and picked up her pace to catch up with the rest of their group. “School first, we can figure out our new phone schedule later, if we even need one now that we share a timezone.”

“Touché, lil’ Butterfly, touché,” Kara concedes, catching up only a step behind.

The Parisian girl raises a brown, “Butterfly?” 

“Beautiful, always a step ahead, and always dodging around everything.”

“Dodging?” Kara, I can't dodge anything for my life without warning first.”

The two laughed, and Kara nudged the other girl reassuringly. “Besides avoiding compliments you shouldn’t, I think you’re doing just fine on your own.”

“Well, besides those embarrassing compliments, if there's anything I shouldn't be missing, warn me, okay? I’d hate to leave anything hanging.”

Kara gave a big sideways grin, her eyes hinted with wistfulness. “Sure, Geode, I’ll do that; at least for anything that doesn't want to wait for a perfect timing first.”

“Like?”

“The fact that we’re back at school and the warning bell just rang?”

“AH!! Kara! Warn me next time!”

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

PERSONALITY: 

To sum Maurice up very concisely, he’s angry. He hasn’t always been. He was a relatively happy go lucky child, full of endless energy and enthusiasm. Then he was plucked from his life and sent away to a school to learn magic. At first that was pretty cool, after all, every 11 year old wishes they had magical abilities, the difference being they get to grow up and forget those wishes and live normal lives. He has to live with his childish fantasies for the rest of his life. And apart from that, he appears to be in a world where muggleborns are being hunted and killed by an evil wizard and his crazy cult. To make things worse, they can’t escape back to their muggle lives because of all the damn secrecy laws. So yes, he’s angry, and a lot of his actions are fueled by that. Make no mistake though, Maurice is no Gryffindor, he doesn’t use his anger in brash reckless ways, he is more calculated. You may catch it crackling under the surface occasionally, but it would take a lot to make him properly explode. Even slurs like ‘mudblood’ would only make him roll his eyes and perhaps give a snarky retort.

Maurice is a Ravenclaw. He is a big believer that knowledge is power. He did fairly well at his subjects in Hogwarts considering he didn’t try all that hard. He did not choose this path and as a consequence, resented it. He would often get his brother who was a few years older, to send him muggle textbooks when he’d finished with them. He was fascinated by science and maths and history. Of course he had some curiosity for his lessons at Hogwarts, and the things he and his magic was capable of, but the element of choice was important for him. It felt like by attending Hogwarts, a whole area of understanding was suddenly off limits. As anyone knows, forbidden knowledge is the most desirable.

He likes to ask questions about as much as any other Ravenclaw, but he is also a big observer. He likes to take time to gather information before jumping into a lot of things, especially interactions with other people. He by no means stalks people, but a few minutes, to watch, take someone in, before starting a conversation is quite usual for him. It’s all about making informed choices.  As a consequence, unexpected interactions can throw him, making him more awkward than he’d like.

He can be arrogant, he has a conviction in his beliefs that can come across as condescension if viewed the wrong way. He can get frustrated when someone is not following his thinking quite as quickly as he’d like, which is why he’d make a terrible teacher. However, this works equally in the opposite direction. His frustration can be palpable when he doesn’t understand something, and these moments are when he is least in control. A lot of his acts of protest come from anger, sure, but also the frustration of not being able to fathom how things got so bad, why they can’t just make them better now, why people can’t see it for themselves. But usually he is quiet. Unless he is invited to speak, or is so damn angry the words won’t stop, he can keep his thoughts to himself until someone is listening and his words can have an impact.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY: 

Until the age of 11 Maurice grew up in a very normal, working class family in the midlands. His mother was a typical housewife, loving but somewhat distracted, staring out of windows whilst doing the washing up, leaving the dinner in slightly too long when listening to the radio. Maurice didn’t mind, he barely noticed, and she was excellent at bedtime stories, so what was there to complain about? His father was a miner, a tough, but humorous man. He worked hard, and he always came home dirty, but played football with them in the garden the weekends.

He has one older brother. Not the brightest bulb, but the kindest person Maurice knows. Maurice always thought him brave, in a quiet way. There is no one Maurice has ever looked up to quite like his big brother, even if they squabbled and scrapped as much as any other loving siblings.

Perhaps this happy set up, along with glowing school reports and a nice bunch of friends, was why he has always resented being ripped from that life and that path. 

When he was a child, he dreamed of being an astronaut, an archaeologist, a doctor, a lawyer, and what’s more, none of these were stretches for him, with his brain and desire for learning, he could have done it, he could have gotten out of the rows and rows of back to back terraced houses that he and his family were confined to. He could have taken them with him. But he was torn away and sent to Hogwarts, and his parents only vaguely understood, were proud, but in a distant way. His brother became a milkman, a job he enjoyed, but not one that paid well. He married young, his school sweetheart, and they are expecting their first child. They all seem happy enough, they have the things that matter, enough food to eat, a roof over their head, love, but Maurice can’t help but feel he could have saved them. The terror of living paycheck to paycheck, the mundanity of their terraced hells, or just never being able to treat yourself to that little bit extra. He remembered as a child, when his father would be on strike, the unspoken fear that filled up their home. He had wanted to save them from that.

When he would return home for the summer, he would act like nothing had changed, he wouldn’t speak of Hogwarts, or of his magic. He would pretend like he was no different from them, but something had changed and something had broken, and eventually he realised that something couldn’t be fixed. Getting his Hogwarts letter had been the beginning of the end for Maurice. He hated it when summer would end and he’d have to go back, but he also hated going home in the first place.

OCCUPATION: 

Maurice works as a sound engineer at the Wizarding Wireless Network. It was not something he expected of himself, more something he fell into. A job at the Ministry would have gone against all his principals. A deep hatred for ‘the man’ but also the wizarding world in general, he wasn’t about to go work in a place trying to keep it all ticking over, and bore himself to death in the process.

He considered more academic positions, but he’d had a hard enough time concentrating at Hogwarts. Trawling magical forests for new flora and fauna, or raiding tombs and breaking their curses had no appeal to him. Which largely left working class positions or the arts. It was not a tricky decision.

The newspaper was an option, but the fact that the Daily Prophet seemed to have a monopoly on journalism in wizarding Britain didn’t sit well with Maurice. Without another widely available newspaper to oppose their horribly biased reporting, what was the point? He would not be a puppet for their propaganda. For a while, he tried to write his own pieces, publish them independently, but that wasn’t entirely successful. The pieces were convoluted, preachy, and he had no audience, no one to either agree nor criticise him.

Eventually he wound up at the Wizarding Wireless Network. Again, it irked him that there was only one major company broadcasting, but at least they had a bit more variation, and whilst they did broadcast the news, the purpose leaned towards entertainment. It’s not a cause Maurice is particularly passionate for, but it’s not one he opposes.

As a sound engineer, he’s around for recordings and broadcasts, cleans up pre recorded audio, fixes equipment, just whatever needs doing that seems like it fit within his job title. Most of it he learned on the job, but it was fascinating enough to capture his attention, and similar enough to muggle radio not to infuriate him. It also introduced him to the world of pirate radio.

About 2 years after he started at WWN, his friend and mentor quit, and in his last few days, confided in Maurice that he was leaving to start his own show. Technically WWN was the only official broadcaster on wizarding radios, but if you knew how to get a frequency, you could broadcast whatever you liked. He and some friends were setting up a station out of someone’s garage, mostly to play the music the WWN spurned.

The idea lit a flame in Maurice. Of course, the fact that it was ever so slightly against the rules, and possibly the law, made it exciting. But the idea of broadcasting whatever he liked, even if there was no one listening, putting something out there, finite and unique.

So that’s what he does with his evenings at the weekends, he broadcasts late into the night and the early mornings. The Order gives him a focus, not just long rambling opinion pieces that sounds like the inner thoughts of a paranoid conspiracy theorist. He has found a purpose now. His show, it helps spread news, it helps spread information, it helps spread hope. Of course there is the tricky business of making sure the wrong ears don’t hear it, but he’s a smart guy, there’s a way around everything.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER: 

Maurice joined the Order with best friend, Daisy Hookum. He was at the same Squib’s Rights March, right in the middle of the rioting, and landed square in the Order’s gaze because of it.

Maurice has always been an activist, even before graduating Hogwarts, he would hold small demonstrations, conquering whatever stage fright he might have for the greater good. Standing up on tables at breakfast to make impassioned speeches, chaining himself to statues and refusing to go to class, he even came very close to slashing a painting once before the painting’s occupant managed to talk him out of it.

Maurice has taken a lot of inspiration from muggle strikes and demonstration techniques. He remembers picket lines from his childhood, and grew up with the punk movement. He even had a bright red mohawk once before Daisy told him it really didn’t suit him.

These energies are what he hoped to bring to the Order. He recognises that Voldemort and the Death Eaters are the main enemy, but in his eyes, the Ministry are accomplices, and he feels just as violently about them. The Death Eaters may be the ones directly killing people, but the Ministry are letting them do it, even helping them to a certain degree. The fact that so many squeaky clean Ministry employees come to the Order to ‘do their part’ indicates to him, that there are just as many who are going over to Voldemort for the same reason. He wishes more of their actions were against the Ministry directly, but he can also do that in his own time.

Day to day, Maurice is generally a pretty good foot soldier, he isn’t crazy about the actual violence part, but he’ll do it if he has to. He’d like a louder voice at the table, but he knows how these things work, and he knows too many cooks spoil the broth. The fact that they are organised is enough for him. There is a system, and if he ever feels he needs to take something to the top, then he knows how to do that.

He has also brought his pirate radio platform to the Order. It’s a good way to spread news to people such as those being helped by the dissendium task force, and a good way to organise large groups of people. And also quite simply, it can raise spirits. Assuming that people tune in to listen. Maurice doesn’t think it’s quite being used to its full potential, but it’s getting there. The Order function on secrecy, whereas Maurice wants to inform the masses. There is clearly a conflict of interest. 

(I see this radio show as being very similar to the Potterwatch of the second wizarding war, and if it isn’t quite at that structure yet, then building it up to that during the game.)

I think although he is happy to fight with the Order, and be on the front line of the fight against You-Know-Who, his main motives are doing something about the International Statute of Secrecy, even if he is a little distracted by other things and other causes, it all really comes back to him having the choice to fight, to flee, to live his life where he pleases, taking the elements of both cultures and combining them. And he wants that choice for others as well. A lot of his anger and frustration is on a very personal selfish level, but he does recognise that he’s fighting this cause for people other than himself.

SURVIVAL: 

Being both muggleborn and publicly vocal in his opinions, does put a bit of a target on Maurice’s back. He’s had a few close scrapes in the past, but luckily that’s as much as they were. Making enemies with a lot of purebloods perhaps isn’t the most efficient way to survive this war. He doesn’t move around a lot, thankfully he’s never been traced to his home address and he wants to keep it that way. He rents a little place in Muggle London, clean and comfortable enough, but out of the way and non-descript. He wards it heavily, and takes great lengths to make sure he isn’t followed home.

He isn’t too bad at dueling, but it isn’t his greatest strength. Mostly he relies on quick thinking rather than brute strength. And paranoia. He’s seen what the other side is capable of, and he’s heard enough of Moody’s lecture like speeches to know how to watch his back.

Still, he can lay awake many nights, realising there that if he continues to fight like this, there is a large chance he won’t survive the war. Is it worth it? He usually falls asleep before reaching a conclusive answer. Needless to say, as a 24 year old, he is terrified of dying. He is just also too angry to let that stop him.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Daisy Hookum: Friends since first year, he and Daisy have a special bond. There are very few people who know him as closely as Daisy knows him. Even his family, who he loves dearly, can’t understand him the way Daisy does. They may have been brought together by class timetables and group projects, but what bonded them was their shared views of the world. Particularly as they got older, they could talk for hours and hours about their politics. They didn’t always agree on every point, but respected each other enough to hear the other out. Of course this wasn’t the only thing that kept them friends. They could have fun together, let loose, forget for a little while that things were so bad, forget how angry they were.

They joined the Order together, as they did so much together. But then Daisy left for her year in the muggle world. Since then the relationship has been strained. He understood better than most what she was trying to do, but the reality is still that he felt abandoned, and jealous, that she could go off and live her ‘muggle’ life. It’s become obvious since her return that Maurice’s idea of activism is now split from hers. She wants to take a more passive role, and Maurice couldn’t bear that.

Caradoc Dearborn: Caradoc is someone Maurice begrudgingly looks up to. On the one hand he is everything he despises, wealthy and pure blooded. But the way he conducts himself is something that Maurice admires. He can’t help but want to be in Caradoc’s good books. If he had an issue within the Order, he would most likely take it to Caradoc.

Mary MacDonald: Mary is a more recent friend. They were a few years apart at Hogwarts and so only got to know each other after they both joined the Order. A lot of Mary’s politics match up with Maurice’s, and apart from that they are very compatible on a personal level. She is one of the lucky few Maurice has let in. Of course it helps that she is muggle-born as well, he feels that with so few of them inside the Order, they really have to stick together.

He has never been the most social of people. It is not that he doesn’t enjoy company, more that he doesn’t settle. If he is going to spend time with someone, properly invest in them, he wants to be sure they are the right person. He does not do this consciously you understand, but he is constantly assessing and reassessing the people in his life. First impressions, as he’s found, are often misleading, but that doesn’t mean doesn’t heed them. He’s more inclined to search out the red flags than give someone the benefit of the doubt. The people who slip through the cracks however, get the best of him. The warmth, the wit, everything he’s been desperately been bottling up waiting for the right vessel to pour it into.

Generally, Maurice is going to feel some animosity for the richer, pure blooded members of the order, but he’ll tolerate them. He’s also going to be fairly uninterested in those who aren’t as active in the cause, or any cause for that matter. So maybe he’s made a few enemies within the Order, or at least brushed some people the wrong way. Or perhaps he’s been pleasantly surprised by others.

OOC EXPLORATION:

SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: No ships or antiships, I’m really open to anything. I do see Maurice as gay, so I think relationships with women would be unlikely, but I’m a sucker for some unrequited love plots, or maybe some confused one night stands. Basically anything is on the table.

WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE?

Well Maurice is a white male, so let’s start with that. I don’t think feminism is high up on his rank of causes, or racism, simply because I don’t think it’s played a huge role within his personal life experience. He probably doesn’t even realise a lot of the privileges he has as a white man.

He’s also gay, and whilst he is quite unapologetic about that, his sexuality seemed to be more of an issue in his muggle life than in the wizarding world, so it isn’t something he feels the need to fight about all the time. Again there are more important causes right now.

As a person who grew up in a working class family, he generally just resents the wealthy, and he won’t give them much chance to prove themselves to him either. This definitely stems from growing up poor, but perhaps if he’d been able to make his own fortune and save his family from their poverty, then he wouldn’t feel as strongly. In that sense it’s quite hypocritical. Now it’s also tied to the fact that the wealthy are the ones in control, both in the Death Eaters and their reign of terror, and at the Ministry, making and enforcing the laws that keep them all trapped and helpless. It hasn’t missed his attention that most of the wealthier wizards are pureblooded, so he’ll often lump them in with his disdain.

This works the other way as well. He’s willing to overlook a lot of shit that his working class/muggle born acquaintances get up to, forgive a lot of their sins. I don’t think he realises he does this, but it certainly happens.

He doesn’t necessarily hate the people who work for the Ministry, even if he has a dislike for the establishment and the way it’s run. He understands everyone has to work, and most don’t get the privilege of doing something they like or agree with entirely. There is a bit of time though where he’ll figure out their motives before he really trusts or likes them.

Law enforcement isn’t particularly in his good books either, but that is perhaps more linked to his view of how muggle police act towards protests and demonstrations.

When it comes to the issues of half-breeds, he’ll go along to the marches, he’ll sign the petitions, he’s probably up to date on all the latest views and opinions, but again, it’s not at the top of his priorities.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? You already know I love this roleplay. I’m looking forward to being more active hopefully, interacting with a wider range of characters, playing someone who is quite different to Fab as well and stretching those writing muscles.

PLOT DROP IDEAS: 

I would love to see his pirate radio show have an effect somehow, either positive or negative (but maybe more positive at least at first, I’ve already done a lot of disappointing the Order with Fab).

I would love to see how his bloodstatus affects him. If he is genuinely more in danger for being a loud annoying muggleborn, it might be nice to work that into the larger plot somehow.

ANYTHING ELSE? I haven’t put whether he’s low level or mid level in the Order, I’m happy for either, wherever you think he’d fit best.

EXTRA FOR NON-BIO CHARACTERS:

PAST: 

Maurice Creevey grew up in the midlands, part of a typical working class family. His mother was a housewife, and his father a Miner. The strikes and picket lines his father was a part of were some of his first experiences with activism, and the spark didn’t stop there. Maurice was rudely torn from his happy muggle life by the revelation he was a Wizard and the letter ‘inviting’ him to study at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. With no choice but to follow this path, Maurice has resented it ever since. He didn’t waste his time there by any means though. This was when he got his first taste for activism, protesting in the great hall and demonstrating in classes. These habits followed him faithfully into adulthood, developing until he found real urgent causes. At the top of his list, was tearing down the Statue of Secrecy that traps all muggle-borns in the wizarding world whilst an evil wizard and his cronies are attempting to pick them off one by one, and also prevents the muggles from fighting back on their own terms.

PRESENT:

It’s his activism that brought him to the attention of the Order. He is a good soldier for the Order, willing to do what has to be done and follow orders dutifully. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his own intentions. Maurice works for the Wizarding Wireless Network, and a few nights a week he hosts his own pirate radio station. Sometimes his broadcasts can get hundreds or thousands of listeners, all scared but hopeful, wanting to hear what no-one else is telling them, the news the papers won��t print, the the stories the WWN won’t air. The Order value their secrecy, but Maurice knows information is power, and knowledge gives you a choice. He knows he can use his show to the Order’s advantage if only it’s given a chance.

Nothing much really so far. We got into tribes so far everyone seems cool ans all so can't wait to see what happens from here.

Opening thoughts: I'm very much downplaying my knowledge, making it seem like I care most about challenges, know nothing about how online Survivor works (I played and hosted one) and not a massive amount about the actual show either, asking a lot of questions. Trying to find people with the most similar personalities and let others propose any alliances.

Day 1; So I'm sitting here, eating dinner, a salad with garlic bread and a mike's hard pineapple strawberry lemonade, and I decide to do a confessional! Lets talk about my tribe, first and foremost. We're the "Second Chances" tribe. Fitting, we're all FLOPS. Imma do this in the order we were REVEALED to the world. Because that's cute, right? We're basically the beauty tribe bc everyone is lowkey real scrumptious lookin. Eric; Before this game, Eric and I bonded in the Ahkmim VL about how we never get cast for tumblr survivor, and how we're waiting for redemption, and I'd feel bad leaving him as the first boot. So hopefully he'd also feel bad, and wanna talk to me. I don't think the two of us have much in common yet, he's into anime, and reading, which is like, two things I'm not really down for, but I'm definitely gonna give Spirited Away a try sometime soon so I can talk to him about it. I kinda wanna ask if the red in his hair is naturally like.. blood red. But maybe that's the lighting in the room, or maybe he died it even MORE ginger, because I often hear to him referred to as GINGER Eric, but also i don't wanna have an awkward "No, this is just like.. normal ginger" conversation. Megan; Ohhhh Megan.. my girl Megan. We've had a rocky road in our friendship, and I wish I was just talking about ice cream. Something about her though just makes me have infinite patience for the things the two of us deal with, I can't help but just want to be with her all the time. I scouted her out from FaceBook to play my Whodunnit, and we've been extremely close ever since, our game relationship has been rocky enough for me to worry slightly about her, but all I can do is trust her, and build good enough relationships with other people that if she tried to fuck me over, I would know, and strike first. Its still unclear to this day whether she had a hand in my elimination in a Big Brother game we played, 1984. What is crystal clear, is that we cried together while she cast her vote to evict me. I love her, won't never stop lovin her. I'm hoping this can be OUR season to dominate, because I feel like we're almost evenly matched when it comes to a jury vote. Will; "Whoop-de-do" iconic king of not getting his haircut. Uhh.. idk what all to say, because before the game, I knew nothing of this man. However, Monty said something about him being alive and on Skype, and my mind immediately goes to "Is he hot?" and I check his profile, and publicly announce that he's hot. Which isn't FALSE, but then we both get revealed for the game, and put on the same tribe. So now we're vibing, and relating on the fact that tumblr players hate us, and we've deemed each other, "Heather". He's currently petitioning to call our tribe "The Heathers" instead of Enlil. We get on really well, and he's pretty damn cute. Also, he goes to bed SO early, I hope we get enough time to talk and get close on this tribe. Julian; Well. This is a lot to unpack, but I found out he was playing about 3 days before the game, and since that point. He's gotten unnecessarily aggressive with me, and a couple others over non-tumblr related matters. Julian and I have a rocky history, between me being recruited, and auto-casted for his ORG, Trinity Survivor, his ex-co-host/current-best friend berating me, and deleting messages to make me look bad. To Julian throwing passive aggressive low-blows about my social ineptitude in my face if I'm angry about something, to us making final 3 together in minis. Overall, I'm constantly at odds about how I perceive our relationship, I want to be able to assume the best of him, and say that I'm good in his book, no matter what happens. I think a lot of the time, our friend group isn't the most mature, and it is really difficult to have an adult conversation with someone from within that friend group, without someone else having an opinion to share on it, so I've heard things that he's said about me, that I'm not necessarily sure if its true or not, but I try my best to hold a strong, level head and smile whenever I see him, but sometimes its difficult wanting to approach a conversation with someone head on, but knowing that you can't do that with him is definitely a struggle of mine. We have very different communication styles, and its difficult to see past it sometimes. For now, I'm going to be working with him, but I'm not sure how long that can last, as he admits it himself, he can only handle my personality for short periods of time. Jack; Well, Jack hasn't said a single word for the last three hours, since the game has begun. I don't WANT to have to stay up till 5-6 in the morning to try to have a conversation with him, but if that's what I gotta do, then that's what I gotta do. Chrissa; Chrissa, Todd. My LOVE. Chrissa is someone that I owe something to, she's amazing, beautiful, talented, show stopping, never before seen, etc. Our game relationship is not great, because I organized her first boot in Ascendance Season 4; Back to the Future. However, it was because she was attached to someone that kept accusing me of having powers behind my back. So, hopefully Chrissa forgives me, and gives me another chance, because I'd love to work with her. I feel like Chrissa is someone who is extremely intelligent, and loyal, and that's someone I want on my side. I love my tribe, lets win every challenge until the merge!!

Let’s just do a quick roundup for now: JJ seems to think we’re in a showmance already which is either great or bad for my game, Megan’s a sweetheart and I could see us aligning, Eric is definitely a gamer and I have a feeling he’ll be a loyal, jack and Julian are both pretty straightforward and seem on the quieter side, and Chrissa straight up vanished already so we’ll see how that goes! Basically somebody thinks I’m their husband but I don’t know if I ever signed the prenup, but if it means JJ is gonna spill on how he feels about everyone then that’s some good insight. Nobody really wants to talk game yet but that’ll change soon!! Kk bye for now

Night 1/Morning 2: Everyone on my tribe seems extremely cool and I'm loving the way the tribes are divided. The only name I recognized on the cast was Monty's and he's on my tribe! I don't know him personally but I think he first played around when I was hosting a season. I have hit it off with Johnny the best so far I think, and definitely Isabelle as well. I seem to have a lot in common with both of them on a personal level. Strategically, I haven't locked anything down yet. I don't want to come right out and blurt "ALLIANCE?" with anyone; for right now I'm just trying to play it cool, get to know people as well as I can, and be a likeable presence in the tribe so people just wanna have me around.

I just asked Collin to talk to Adam about forming a four person alliance, which Collin will "bring" me into while Adam suggests someone. This might secure me in a four person alliance which would be ideal, but if it backfires, it will backfire on Collin, not on me. I'm trying to get myself into a majority while insulating myself from being seen as the strategic threat

It's been a day in and so far I really like our tribe! I'm vibing with a few of them and it looks like there's been alliance formed between myself, Julian and JJ. JJ has said that he owes it to Chrissa not to vote her out if we lose, and I think he has something with Megan on the side based off what Julian has told me. That leaves Will and Jack, and I've talked with Will a ton. Tomorrow I'm gonna try and see if he wants to work with me too because I feel like to win this season, you will need to keep all your options open. 

Day 2: I got to talk to Jack last night, he was talkin about how he did some funky fresh survivor statistics on how tribe swaps affect tribe line loyalties, which I found super interesting. Then I decided to share a statistics thingy I did on how the Final 3 format doesn't produce an even ratio of male / female winners, but the Final 2 format does, and how potentially something about the final 3 format in survivor could be a factor in why we haven't had enough female winners in the last few generations of survivor. But he didn't even believe there was a female bias in survivor.. which kinda threw me off. Oh well, we ended the conversation on a good note before I went to bed. Well, the tribe seems to be getting along well, I tried to get a tribe call going, but it ended up just being me and Megan helping Chrissa with strategies to get higher scores in the challenge. She can't seem to break 100, and I feel really bad for her, I hope the rest of us can carry this competition, because I would feel like the worst human being in the world if I gave someone first boot twice in a row. Not to mention I'd consider Chrissa a friend of mine. Maybe I'm playing this game a bit too emotionally, before we even have our first tribal. What a concept.. Will and I are only getting closer and closer, we continuously refer to each other, affectionately, as "Heather". But he really lied to me today, pretty hard core. He said he was gonna order his weight in mexican food when he got off work... but he ate Thai instead...? How dare he ??? Rude. Anyways, if he's lying about that, what else could he lie to me about? Smh. Fuckboys amirite? I think that if we lose this challenge, Jack would be an easy vote off. He's in a different timezone, and his age unfortunately would make it really difficult to have a decent social game. If we lose more than once, there's one of two things that could happen.. 1.) There's a standoff between Julian, Megan and I, trying to maneuver this tribe to remove each other. Which is exactly why a friendship / showmance / whatever with Will is so important. Will would likely be the swing vote they try to get, I don't see Chrissa voting me out if I prove my loyalty at the first tribal our tribe faces. 2.) The three of us dominate the premerge portion of the game, and it becomes an impossible to maneuver situation for me at the merge, because all the connections I have outside of my own tribe, both Julian or Megan also have a hand in, with the exception of Jay, who I don't find myself falling that closely to. I feel like I might be thinking too much, too fast. I guess I just can't show the rest of my tribe that. I'm hoping my reads on the tribe are at least somewhat correct this time around. :/

Collin never ended up messaging Adam, and I was worried about falling behind the 8-ball, so I took alliance building measures into my own hands. I messaged Zach about joining up by stating that Collin had told me he also had a good conversation with Zach, and I made sure Zach didn't just feel "brought in" by asking him which person he would want to be 4 in our alliance. He suggested Cameron, which is fine by me. He hasn't officially reached out to Cameron yet, but our plan is to bring Cameron in if we end up losing, and I will probably want to vote Kyle or Grace in that scenario. Hope we don't lose though!

I don't really (or at least usually) stress about challenges and definitely not this early in the game, but some of these people are so stressed and panicky. Will (who I talked to about aligning earlier today like I had said I would in my last confessional) is stressed about not being able to beat his current high score of 199 and feels like he's on the lower end and might be eliminated. I was telling him though that this isn't necessarily about your score, but your ranking. You can get 209 or 189 and still get the same ranking. Chrissa on the other hand is totally panicking. She has an admittedly low score of 89 which she forgot to screenshot which is really rough. She same flash games aren't her thing (and I believe her) but when I tried to calm her down and say there's lots of time to improve and that we can win this, she continued to panic. There's not much I can do for her. I'm not aligned with her right now and she's just really scared to get first boot, which I don't even think will happen. JJ feels obliged not to make her first boot should the scenario present itself, and I'm aligned with him and Julian. If anyone's going home right now, it's probably Jack unless he has connections I am unaware of. I would really like to win though because I love our beauty tribe xoxo 

I managed to find the idol clue, and in telling my formed trio of Collin and Zach, Zach accidentally revealed that he had found it too. I don't think he intended to tell me, so now I am not sure if I fully trust him. I'll work with him for now, but he is going to be a big move player and I'll have to watch out for that

Forgive me father for i have sinned it's been a day since my last confession I've made some progress me and grace knowing each other well pregame means i have an instant ally coming in to help not be first.....or second out and me and Collin seem to be kinda working together I guess?? I hope not fully sure but I feel confident I'm not going if we go to tribal.

hiiii so glad to be back in the game!!!! So thankful I have the opportunity to redeem myself after my huge flop in 94, but lowkey worried about being on the An tribe? Only because it is filled with people who have done well in the past I’m not sure how to measure where I fall within them, but everyone has been very nice and seems to get along with me so far! Also it seems like there is no suspicion from them about Zach and I being siblings which is STELLAR. From looking at the cast I think the only person who knows for sure is JJ, and perhaps Megan? But thankfully they aren’t on a tribe with either of us so that might work in our favor. I’m a little nervous about this first challenge but I have one of the highest scores on my tribe atm, so I feel like if we go to tribal it might be okay. Fingers crossed hehe ;))

Zach is playing super hard out in the open. That is good for me, he can make connections to help our alliance, and if there is ever a moment where our alliance gets exposed, he will probably be out in the forefront as a target. The flip side of that is that I might not be able to go to the end with him if he could be perceived as the leader of my alliance, so I'll need to see how the game develops

We came in second in the immunity challenge by ONE POINT. Thank the lord because our group seems very cohesive at the moment, and going to tribal would have put everyone into scramble mode. I've been bonding the closest over the first 4 days with Isabelle, and I am hoping it can lead to a strong game relationship. Right now, we seem to be very social with one another and we have gone as far as to say we wouldn't vote for one another, but I'm still sort of waiting for that defining confirmation (as much as you can get that in Survivor). After that, I'd say I've been pretty chatty with Johnny and Monty equally (but I think I have a slightly tighter personal bond so far with Johnny). Abrielle I talked to more so over the first couple of days but I would say between her, Jay and Madison those are the ones I've made the least connection with. They all seem like good people, just haven't had as much traction chatting with them. I don't want us to go to tribal for as long as we can help it, because for me the best case scenario heading into a swap would be if our tribe had the numbers advantage and some sort of tribe-wide unity going into it. I feel like that way I could be in a good spot but also not in the forefront of the tribe alliance (I'd hope that would sort of fall on Monty or Johnny maybe because of their Tumblr Survivor experience). For now though, just continuing to get to know everyone as best I can and try and make sure people want me around, and have me in their plans moving forward.

Day 3: I almost forgot to do this confessional. But here I am, in bed, watching Avatar, and drinking butterscotch milk with Irish cream, which is surprisingly good? Anyways, here we go! First, you’re telling me that we LOST the challenge.. what the hell :( I thought I did so well having 188, but apparently even 256 wasn’t going to cut it. The fact that if Jack could improve his score by 30 points, means we’d be safe from tribal, it annoys me that it felt like he didn’t try as hard as Chrissa in the flash game? Julian, he says we can beast through this game and make final three. This is something I’d really love to be able to trust that he has in mind, but I just am unsure at this moment. He gave me information towards the idol search that I appreciate, and probably wouldn’t have figured it out myself. That felt good, but I feel like he wasn’t giving me everything he knew, just enough to make me feel comfortable. I’ll have to continue to keep my eye on him.. Next, Heather, or Will, my potential showmance. We’ve finally got the opportunity to call each other, we talked about the idol search, and our potential moves in the future. He told me he likes the idea of not playing with Julian, but right after he told me this, Julian asked if we were good? Which was kinda sketch. But I’ll do my best to trust Will, and call it a weird coincidence. Megan hasn’t talked to me much today, but she was a room moderator for sequester, and was visiting a friend today, so I can’t blame her. Chrissa is hopefully safe, I can’t give her first boot in back to back games together, I refuse to be that heartless. She’s so good I can’t do it. Eric hasn’t talked to me much either. For someone who should probably know that his name is on the block, I’m surprised Jack isn’t talking too much to me? Maybe it’s because I’m on the chopping block and I don’t know it. I’d be really heartbroken if I were the first boot.

So we lost the challenge by ONE FREAKING POINT, which sucks ass. But not me doing the best in my tribe on the challenge. We stan improvement. Anyway, it looks like the discussion for the vote is between Jack and Chrissa, namely Jack. Though Chrissa performed worse in the challenge, she's done a better job connecting with the rest of us than Jack has. As of now, that's what the general concensus is. I talked to Julian and he agreed, and we are aligned with JJ. Chrissa would vote our way to make sure it isn't her. Another thing that's happening is the idol search. The video made literally no freaking sense, but when the channel liked this video about spectograms, Julian put the video into it and it spelled sink. It turned out that by putting the word sink into the blog link, it says a clue will be there but at the merge. I guess this means for now there will be no idols, so as long as the people im with are truthful, the person who is planned to go home at tribal will go home without a shadow of a doubt.

Right now everyone on the tribe is at peace and getting along, but we all know that’s gonna change when we go to tribal council.

I'm sad we lost the first challenge. I came back to do better than i did the first time, so the idea of being the first boot would suck. I'm not that close with Chrissa so 100% she's my vote. She has played more seasons than all of us & the second chancers deserve their time. Also, Chrissa did the worst out of us in the challenge so it makes it easier to convince everyone to vote for her, but i also dont want to be the one who targets her first because that could come back round to me, and i would hate that as i've waited over a year for a 2nd shot at this. At the moment i'm closest with JJ & Will F, they are 100% my final 3 right now. I like Megan & Eric as well. I've only had 1 comversation with Julian and we did get on well but we havent talked about anything since then. I've tried to talk to Chrissa but she's never really tried to talk to me.

Hi!! Megan for my first confessional!! Yall are gonna have to remind me throughout my time in this game to do these because I'm SO bad at remembering to do confessionals lmaooo. So this first round there's been a lot going on. There are three tribes- newbies, flops, and a tribe of vets who have played well. Clearly I am on the flop tribe, because I was a SAD pre-merge boot in Svalbard. I was feeling really excited about my tribe and definitely thought we could do well and at least not lose the first challenge - we don't want to be flops again!! But alas, after a long day of doing that stupid entanglement flash game, we have proven our labels and FLOPPED yet again, getting last. SO. now we have to go to tribal council tonight. I am out of town this weekend so I haven't been able to talk to many people but I hope I can make it through this first vote. All I've heard so far is that people want to keep the tribe strong so we don't lose another challenge, and based on the first challenge scores, the two bottom challenge players would be Chrissa and Jack. So far I have heard that people want to do Jack instead of Chrissa, which I am fine with. I haven't talked to him that much and I think the time zone difference unfortunately puts him at a disadvantage, so honestly, we should probably vote him out first. I am nervous of course though because people have been fairly quiet and that's never a good thing, but I am hoping and praying that nothing crazy happens and Jack is the first boot and all is good and fine with that. Okay now I'll talk a little about the players on the tribe and how I feel about them- Okay so obviously I know JJ and Julian fairly well from previous games & also being in various group chats together. So far we are planning on working together as a trio and I am GOOD with that so far. Chrissa I have played with once before but she's not very social or talkative, and tbh, I haven't had a DM with her in this game yet, but she seems sweet. Eric I like a lot, he is funny and outgoing and a little chaotic and I love that in him. I think I know him from something previously but quite honestly I don't remember him, but he remembers me LOL. I hope they're good memories. Jack, again, I haven't talked to him much because of the time difference I think. Also isn't he like a minor? Oof that's weird. Anyway onto the final member of my tribe - the king, the legend, the literal love of my life - WILL!!!! I had never met Will before this game but we vibed IMMEDIATELY. We get along so well and we have a lot of things in common and we like the same kinda things. We've had a lot of really good conversations already and I feel the closest to him in this game by far, even though I have known other people on my tribe longer. I adore Will and I will do everything in my power to make sure we both get as far in this game as we can. Okay I think that's enough for a first confessional, bye!!!

Things have been pleasant and slow so far. Everyone on the tribe seems nice and at this point I’m still just hoping that we’ll all get as far in the game as possible at the expense of the more experienced players. I’m a little concerned because I haven’t really been party to any strategy talk yet; I think that’s just because no one has thought it necessary while we don’t have to go to tribal, but I’m still worried I might just be on the outs and not know it.

hiiii so glad to be back in the game!!!! So thankful I have the opportunity to redeem myself after my huge flop in 94, but lowkey worried about being on the An tribe? Only because it is filled with people who have done well in the past I’m not sure how to measure where I fall within them, but everyone has been very nice and seems to get along with me so far! Also it seems like there is no suspicion from them about Zach and I being siblings which is STELLAR. From looking at the cast I think the only person who knows for sure is JJ, and perhaps Megan? But thankfully they aren’t on a tribe with either of us so that might work in our favor. I’m a little nervous about this first challenge but I have one of the highest scores on my tribe atm, so I feel like if we go to tribal it might be okay. Fingers crossed hehe ;))

Summary:

Hyuna Lee just started college, and while procrastinating decided to give a popular MMO called LOLOL a try. Here she will meet new friends, battle monsters, part takes in epic quests, and potentially find love!

Most of this will take place in LOLOL at the beginning.

This takes place a year/ year and a half after Seven’s good end, and the secret endings. Yoosung x OC

The day seemed to keep dragging on and on. A certain University student sat in a lecture dozing off. Maybe he should have logged off when Sapfyre had. His purple irises where bloodshot from the two hours of sleep he did manage to get. His lids were heavy as he rested his chin in his palm attempting to focus on what the Professor was saying. Knowing he had a quiz at the end of the week, and the professor had promised all they had to do was show up and pay attention to pass. However, it was getting harder and harder to keep his eyes open. One of his classmates had kicked his chair trying to keep him alert, the action made him blush as he dopily stared at the front of the room. You’d think he would have learned his lesson time after time again he ended up staying up all night playing LOLOL. 

The bottle-blond thought back to last night and the newbie he had managed to befriend. They were nice, extremely noobish, but they had fun. He smiled to himself remembering the promise to meet up again tonight. They had managed to raise at least 9 levels and they had chosen the cleric class as promised. Yoosung was overjoyed to know he might be able to get a half-decent healer for the guild as he helped the newcomer practice the craft of the game. The gamer couldn’t help but think of all the things he could do to help his newest party member advance in the game. 

His classmate kicked his chair again and he glared over to him, annoyed that he was constantly being pulled away from his thoughts. Truthfully he just couldn’t wait to get home and log onto LOLOL. Sapfyre said they were a student and they were in the same timezone, most likely had day class’s if the panic about their project that was due was any indicator. Meaning they would most likely log in at the same time as him, or a little after. Yoosung hasn’t felt this excited over a new person since Mi-Cha came crashing into the RFA messenger a little over a year ago. It made his chest kind of ticklish, which was weird. There was a very high chance Sapfyre was another dude on the other side, and possibly underage too. Yoosung groaned rubbing his dry eyes trying to calm his inner musing and push thoughts away. How desperate is he becoming?

Sighing softly to himself he decided maybe overthinking last night’s LOLOL encounter was a bad idea. He was just lonely, and watching two of his friends fall in love over messages and eventually get married in the same year had his chest twisting with a sense of jealousy. Sure he was happy for them, of course, he supported them. It was as an onlooker with no romantic history that made him envious of their partnership. Seeing his best friend so happy, and the way Saeyoung and Mi-Cha just seem to get each other. They fought for one another, faced every challenge as a team. It was a really beautiful relationship. 

He wanted what they had. 

He wanted it badly. 

Eventually, classes concluded for the day and Yoosung felt full of energy all of a sudden. He hadn’t taken in anything the professors had attempted to teach him. Mentally he questioned why he was even bothering with university then his mother’s face flashed behind his eyelids. Ya, she would have been pissed if he just up and quit school. Though after everything that has taken place he honestly debated changing his major. He only had two years left, it would be like starting all over. 

On his walk back to his dorm room with a meal from the convenient store, his mind wandered to Rika. Zen and himself had shipped her away to Alaska, trying to save her from both Jumin and Saeyoung’s rath. It was a foolish move as more and more truth about her illegal activity came to light. After Saeran opened up to the abuse he endured under her. Yet, someone boyish part of him still didn’t want Rika to suffer, he wanted her to get better. He wanted his cousin back. Only he seemed to be the only one in the RFA that gave a damn about Rika’s recovery. 

Yoosung let out a sigh as he unlocked the door leading into his dorm room. His violet eyes scanned his livingroom and frowned. “It’s pretty lonely.” He whispered to himself as he dropped his school bag on the couch and made his way to his bedroom. On instinct, he sat at his computer and booted it up. He opened his store-bought sushi and began to nibble it as his hindows ran an update check before booting up his desktop. He had LOLOL set to automatically load once the computer came to life. The icon showed a loading hourglass and then the main screen loaded up with the daily newsletter. Yoosung took a moment to read it over not noticing anything interesting and logged his tank up. 

The first thing he did was claim his daily bonus and check his friend’s list. Saeyoung and Mi-Cha where online in some dungeon. He smiled hoping they married couple was enjoying their time playing games with one another. Saeran didn’t appear to be online, and Yoosung wondered what the younger twin could be up too if his brother and sister in law were actively playing games. He scrolled noticing that Sapfyre hadn’t logged in since they said goodnight last night. He sighed putting more food in his mouth as he got a bunch of party requests from random players. He declined them all and idled himself. 

Yoosung chewed and check his phone noticing a miss call from Zen and rolling his eyes. He had a few emails about possible party guests for the next RFA party. He took a moment to look at them before forwarding them to Mi-Cha. She handled the rest from there. Jaehee, Zen and Jumin were all active in a chatroom. Yoosung cringed wondering if he should go be a cushion for Jaehee knowing the men in the room were most likely arguing and her trying to keep them on track. 

As his thumb hovered over the enter chatroom icon and notification popped up on his monitor. His eyes read over it and smiled. There was Sapfyre, they must have just gotten home from school. He closed the RFA app and silenced his phone. He shoved the rest of his food into his mouth as he opened his private messages with the newbie. 

SupermanYoosung★: Hiya! 

SupermanYoosung★: Ready for more dungeon crawling?

Nervously he chewed on the pad of his thumb waiting for the stranger to reply to him. After all, it was coming home and playing with this person that had gotten throughout his day. He didn’t want to come across clingy though. After a small intervention involving Saeyoung and Zen, he had realized that his problem was that he was a stage five clinger. Sighing with a blush dusting his checks he waited patiently for them to reply.

‘Plus this person was most likely a guy’ He reminded himself and thought of his guild member’s horror stories about being catfished on the site. 

Sapfyre: Oh Hey You~

Sapfyre: Haha I’m up for more! 

Sapfyre: The monsters will have no idea what hit them when SupermanYoosung is through with them!

Yoosung smiled, really wishing this person owned a headset. He was curious about what they sounded like. They wrote in a manner that was similar to Mi-Cha but that didn’t mean anything. Maybe they were just feminine, maybe they are playing to role play like a girl. It wasn’t uncommon for members to role play out relationships and the such on here. The game even offered and marriage system for such a thing. It was diverse in how a player would like to spend their time within it’s the massive world. 

SupermanYoosung★: Hell ya!

SupermanYoosung★: We should be able to pick your class today, you’re almost level 10! 

Sapfyre: Only thanks to you!

Sapfyre: Honestly if I had been left to my own devices last night I wouldn’t even be close to level 10!

Sapfyre: So thank you!

Yoosung chuckled liking the attention and praise.

SupermanYoosung★: no thanks is needed ^^

 He swiftly invited his new friend to make a party with him. He waited for her to join as he organized his inventory. 

Sapfyre: One of these days I’ll figure out how to do this

And just like that their avatars where linked together. Yoosung couldn’t help the way his heart pittered. He really needed to get a hold on himself and remind himself that the other player was, in fact, a dude. Not that Yoosung was personally offended by same-sex relationships, he just wasn’t interested in starting anything with another dude. 

“Really wish they had a mic so my brain could stop thinking about this too much.” Yoosung wished to himself, readjusting his hairpins to push his bang out of his face more. 

SupermanYoosung★: Until that fateful day I got you covered. 

Sapfyre: My hero lol

Yoosung began preparing for their next quest, he knew of a couple they could pair off with and each get the exp. Simple missions that involved them slaying a certain number of minor enemies and such. He was also going to get them to up their cooking and fishing skills so she could brew their own potions. How useful support was in actuality and a money saver. 

SupermanYoosung★: First I’ll bring us to a place where we can fish. I’ll just hand you over what I catch. Then you can cook them all to build those skills.

Sapfyre: Aye Aye Captain!

Yoosung chuckled as his eyes lit up. 

SupermanYoosung★: Sorry if it seemed like I’m bossing you around ^^;;

SupermanYoosung★: It just helps the arch maester class brew potions and buffs.

Sapfyre: Oooh that sounds cool.

Sapfyre: Don’t worry about bossing me around~ 

‘How suggestive’ Yoosung pondered biting his lip before teleporting them to the fishing island. There he quested an item share and handed them a nice fishing rod that wouldn’t break every five seconds. Then they got to work. Since it was a pretty basic automatic action he wanted to take this chance to get to know them better.

SupermanYoosung★: This might take a while.

SupermanYoosung★: So you mentioned you’re a student. What are you studying?

Sapfyre: Wow this is really a grind, huh?

Sapfyre: I’m an art and digital design student. 

Sapfyre: Nothing too exciting, what are you studying? 

SupermanYoosung★: I’m in training to be a vet ^^;

SupermanYoosung★: sometimes I wonder if I made the right choice for myself 

Sapfyre: A vet? You must be pretty smart then. 

Sapfyre: I think we all doubt our educational choices.

Sapfyre: isn’t that what being a student is all about? Being unsure about our future and trying to make sure we make the right decisions?

Sapfyre: If you’re passionate about animal’s you could make all the difference one day ^^

Yoosung blushed nearly crimson reading their messages. No one had ever sided with him and his doubts. Maybe they were feeling it too. Art wasn’t something that guaranteed a job in the future and was hard to get noticed in. 

Sapfyre: If anything you could just transfer to human medicine. It’s all under the biology major, is it not?

He hadn’t even thought of that possibility. Indeed, he could just transfer and just suck up an extra year of school. SKY university did offer an internship program after the medical exams. Yoosung bit his thumb pondering the possibility. 

SupermanYoosung★: I hadn’t thought of that

SupermanYoosung★: ahaha

SupermanYoosung★: My friends usually just tell me to suck it up and get school over with. 

SupermanYoosung★: That I should just be anxious about finding employment. 

Sapfyre: What's the point of working in a career you have no passion for?

SupermanYoosung★: Are you passionate about art?

Sapfyre: Hahaha

Sapfyre: Yes! Art is the main thing that gives me a drive every day!

Sapfyre: Even if my father thinks it’s a waste of my time and future, I’m going to pursue it. 

Sapfyre: Maybe instead of listening to others, you should listen to the drive within you. Find something you’re passionate about. 

Sapfyre: A vet’s good if you really like animals. A doctor or surgeon is good if you like helping people. 

SupermanYoosung★: I might just do that!

SupermanYoosung★: wow- I didn’t mean to get so serious on you like that.

Sapfyre: It’s fine. 

Sapfyre: We are going to be fishing for a while. 

Sapfyre: And I’d never get mad at someone for voicing their insecurities.

Yoosung frowned, at least they didn't ask how much he plays. 

SupermanYoosung★: a little over 2 years

SupermanYoosung★: A friend of mine downloaded it for me, and I’ve been hooked ever since. 

Sapfyre: I’ll confess this is more addictive than it has any business being.

SupermanYoosung★: Welcome to LOLOL hell I hope you enjoy your stay~

Sapfyre: I think it might just be the company >-< 

Yoosung felt his ear burning. He couldn’t help but agree with them, but at the same time, he wanted to approach this budding friendship with caution. He’d never hear the end of it if Saeyoung finds out he was catfished. Or potentially catfished. The student willed his mind to get it together, they weren’t even flirting with him, he was just lonely and desperate at the moment. That was logical. He’d just play it cool. 

Some Time passed and Sapfyre got a headway into fishing and cooking. An hour had passed since they logged on and talked about pointless things like the latest RPG and anime. Yoosung could very easily see himself being friends with this guy in real life. They had many similar interests. He found himself laughing at some of the corny jokes they made too. Like actually laughing out loud. 

Now they were gearing up to head into a dungeon. Saeyoung had sent him a private message, but the gamer ignored it in favor of getting Sapfyre set up for more monster hunting. Once again the crawling was slow due to him having to fall back to type commands for his companion. He really wishes they would get a headset to make this more swift, and also so they could actively chat more. 

Sapfyre had reached level 10 and they had a long debate on the best support healing class for them. Arche Master won healing spells and potion brewing. Just as Yoosung had hoped they’d choose. 

As he was about to wrap them a voice chat request from Saeran popped up. Yoosung groaned, he didn’t even see him log in. He pardoned himself for a moment and plugged in his headset. He accepted his friends' request, typing to Sapfyre he’ll be a moment. 

“Hey.” Yoosung said eyeing the little ‘take your time’ from his new friend.

“So you ignore my brother, but talk to me?” Saeran questioned, even Yoosung could hear the smirk in his voice. 

“You’re the lesser of the two evils,” Yoosung explained sighing, explaining to Sapfyre he was just setting up his headset to chat with another player before warping them to the first location for a low-level quest. “Anyways what's up?”

Saeran was silent for a moment. “What are you doing in such a beginner level area?” he questioned and Yoosung rolled his eyes. 

“I met someone new to the server yesterday, I’m raising myself an Arche Master.” He chuckled gloating. 

“How the hell did you seduce- Sap-fire? Into becoming a support class for you?” Saeran asked trying to figure out if he was pronouncing the username correctly. Yoosung honestly didn’t know if that's how you say it, but it was as good a guess as to his. 

“Haha~” Yoosung let out a boyish giggle and then lowered his voice. “I know how to get around Saeran. Why you jealous I’m gonna have myself an amazing support!” 

“Sure.” Saeran sighed the sound of his keyboard being typed on made its way into the mic. “It’ll benefit our guild over Mi-Cha’s and my idiot brothers.” 

“That’s true.” Yoosung hummed replying to Sapfyre quickly as he sent his avatar charging into an assault. 

“Don’t tell me they are a typer-” Saeran asked in mock horror at the implication. 

“Ya, but it’s not their fault.” Yoosung defended his new friend. “They are a student like me, and literally just started LOLOL yesterday.” 

Saeran groaned anyway. The faint sounds of Mi-Cha hissing something to her husband were heard in the background. Yoosung let out an amused poof of air wondering what Saeyoung did now to get her riled up like that. 

“Do they always have to be so loud?” Saeran whispered his complaint and Yoosung chuckled under his breath. “So I take it you’ll be busy for awhile helping that person with leveling?” 

“Ya.” The gamer replied typing to Sapfyre about their next mission swiftly. “It’s gonna take a bit more time given we have to type to one another until they can get a headset.” 

“Fine.” Saeran murmured. “I’ll just go sell goods and mine while you help the noob.” 

“Sounds good,” Yoosung replied. Saeran made a noise and their line disconnected. He wasn’t much of a talker, unless it was necessary as Yoosung found out over the year of knowing him. 

SupermanYoosung★: There is glow mushrooms in this cave

Sapfyre: Ooooooh sounds fancy~

SupermanYoosung★: Ahaha they look really pretty!

SupermanYoosung★: Only problem is-

SupermanYoosung★: This is the only place to farm them and it’s a level 45 dungeon.

At that moment he wished he would’ve asked Saeran for help. There was a certain random spawn for a level 98 dragon event happening in that dungeon. The dragon looked sick though, with the mushrooms growing off his body, but he was a bitch to face. 

Sapfyre: I’ll try my best to give you back up!

He pressed teleport and warped them inside the entrance of the cave.

Sapfyre: You’re trolling me, right?

Yoosung chuckled. He wishes he were, but they needed that glow mushroom for a revival potion with a 5% brew success rate. Meaning they’d be here for a while. If he got lucky maybe one of his friends would see where he was and come help. If not they would have to hope for the best. 

SupermanYoosung★: Don’t worry~

SupermanYoosung★: There is only a 28% chance he’ll spawn. 

An almost daring smirk crossed the gamer's lips as he sent both their avatar rushing into the depth of the dungeon. Sapfyre was being cute thinking every droplet sound effect was the dragon spawning. However, as of right now they’d be okay. It wasn’t until the last 5 levels of the dungeon did it ever spawn. 

Sapfyre: This is a suicide mission!

SupermanYoosung★: Naw, I’ve only faced him once and that was after multiple times looking for him. 

Sapfyre’s avatar was farming mushroom’s and Yoosung was fending off monsters. It moved quicker with them both focusing on a task. Surprisingly they were making headway pretty quickly within the dungeon. 

After some time he saw Saeran’s avatar spawn in with them, and Yoosung chuckled feeling like a kid caught with a hand in the cookie jar. In the world chat, Saeran sent numerous question marks and Yoosung sent some back. Soon after Saeran asked to join their party and Yoosung accepted. Yoosung smiled watching her run towards the farm point and start gathering more of the precious material. Both Saeran and himself fended off the monsters spawning around them. Saeran was a ranged character opting for a longbow. He still hit hard though. They always made a good team.

Sapfyre made her Avatar do a cheering motion as they fought off the critters that were mostly child's play to him and Saeran. Soon enough they all collected up again and moved further within the cave.

Yoosung chuckled, a little disappointed they newcomer didn’t react to him referring to them all being boys. He sighed resolving himself into finally believing they were, in fact, a dude with a cute Avatar. There was no denying the disappointment he felt. At least the connection they had made could be swayed towards a friendship. Yoosung smiled sadly to himself, mentally scolding himself for being so desperate for a girlfriend again. 

The team proceeded with extreme caution. Yoosung had his headphones on with the volume at a punishing high listening for any telltale signs they were not alone. Even his breathing mellowed out as his heart hammered in his chest. It was exhilarating sneaking about trying to get to the loot at the end of the cove. 

Soon enough he saw two more Avatars run unto the screen. They requested to join the party and Yoosung let out a slow breath of relief. He accepted watching as Saeyoung and Mi-Cha’s user names joined his and Saerans along with Sapfyre.

As Sapfyre’s message appeared a rumbling roar shook Yoosung’s eardrums. He hissed removing the headset and moved quickly. Honestly, the rest of them could’ve easily made a voice chat, but maybe they were being considerate to Sapfyre who would be the only man out.

With that, they all took their positions. Saeyoung was a mage and stood back with his brother seeing as their both ranged. Mi-Cha and Himself charged in. She was a duel wielding halfling and him a tank. Saran was careful to position himself before Sapfyre protecting the extremely under-leveled healer. Yoosung was honestly surprised how easily Sapfyre got into the team formation and tried desperately to keep all their hit points up. 

It was a long battle with just the five of them, even with Saeyoung and himself holding the number 1 and 2 place in the server ranking. Mi-Cha and saeran’s characters weren’t anything to scoff at. Sapfyre did good hanging out in the far back healing as fast as their mp gage and cool downtime would allow them. They even started tossing some of the potion’s Yoosung had bought for them the night prior. Event bosses were always a pain in the ass to take down, but the rewards were sooo worth it. 

No one dared type in the group chat, everyone was busy watching for openings for an all-out attack when the defence dropped. Nothing like a risky battle to get your blood pumping, or so they say. Yoosung found himself swearing to himself as his voice got more panic watching his health bar deplete, however, Sapfyre was trying to heal him back up. Maybe this was a mistake, but if they went down, all of them could say they went down with one hell of a fight. 

After a good hour, the beast died and Mi-Cha was like a hit point away from dying. Yoosung could almost hear everyone's sigh of relief as the exp divide between the five of them. Yoosung chuckled watching Sapfyre make their Avatar dance about in celebration. 

AhaChaCha: That was too close for comfort.

HackerGod: At least Sapfyre is feeling energetic enough to dance for us

I’m a college student who never learned how to set up a schedule that doesn’t suck and am highly involved in student government because I am poor and it pays for my housing and meals. So when it comes to the school year, I’m busy. I’m hella busy, so I’ll probably do replies on the weekends and at ungodly hours in the morning for the vast majority of the year. However, this semester is coming to a close and as long as I survive finals, I’ll have five weeks where I can be on every single day!

How did you find the rp?  | My cousin showed it to me during Thanksgiving, of all the wacky things! She’s big into RP and she knows how much I love Shakespeare, and she thought I’d like this group. I thought I’d try and enter her world and see if I also like RP’ing/actually writing consistently with a set goal in mind.

IN CHARACTER

Character | Laertes - Lawrence Alvise Vernon. I absolutely adore Kendrick Sampson as Lawrence, so no faceclaim changes from me!

What drew you to this character? | So, I have a gut feeling this is going to get pretty long, so please bear with me. I think the first part that attracted me to Lawrence was the character he’s based off of. Hamlet was the first Shakespeare play I read, liked, and understood (though not in that order I don’t think). It was really awesome to see a character from something that had such a huge impact on me and what I want to do with my life still open and available! And Laertes is so important to that original story, even if the tragic Danish boyfriends overshadow him in the general story and in the fandom. The OG story doesn’t function as a tragedy without Laertes and the emotional impact of that last act and a half is only tear-inducing, to me, if Laertes was there. The story just needs him there, you know? One of the reasons I picked him to apply with is because I hoped the same could be said about the story of Diverona and I wanted to play that kind of role in a group filled with characters I think are awesome.

But it isn’t all source material that lead me to pick Lawrence, oh no! Lawrence is, as his bio shows, driven by a near all-consuming need for approval. He’s willing to keep pushing towards and striving for goals that would be completely out of reach if it wasn’t for his absolute, burning need to prove that he is capable of meeting those goals and surpassing them. For Lawrence, he expects that one receives love only if its been earned. He was never told that he was enough on his own merit and so the idea that he, as a person, is worthy has never crossed his mind, which is an absolutely tragedy! However, it’s something I understand and looking at that aspect of his character, I felt I’d be able to do it justice because I deal with a very similar thing far too often for it to be healthy.

However, there was one part of  the bio that convinced be Lawrence was the character I had to try and get into this group with. Lawrence is a genuinely good person that has had to push that goodness aside to become someone his father prefers and someone his father would give the underboss title too. He isn’t, as you stated, cruel, but he has learned that in order to advance, he has to step on people, he must control every little itsy thing, and he must, above all, be perfect. But! Despite all these lessons, he is still a good egg! A good bean! I really appreciated you all making sure that was evident in his bio and it was really the thing that convinced me to apply for him!

What is a future plot idea you have in mind for the character? |

Plot One - Little Sister, You’re All That I Know: So, we’re starting off with the most important plot of all, said from the perspective of another older brother to a younger sister. From what I can tell, the Vernon siblings are both extraordinarily in love with people, but not because of any other reason than the fact that they’re people. Or, at least, they were, up until Lawrence got so angry at Verona for daring to kill his father that he single-handedly took up the pitchforks and torches to make those responsible for that death pay. In the meantime, he’s managed to completely smother and override his sister’s opinion and free will which is so incredibly not good, even if it is well-intentioned. I want Lawrence to learn to back off, to trust his sister, and to learn that as strong as he is alone, he’s much stronger with his sister at his back. I imagine the jumpstart for this would be Odessa doing something really awesome, maybe even saving Lawrence’s life. By proving in a very direct way that she would be able to look after herself, that would allow Lawrence to begin backing off, to release the reigns of control, and trusting her to take care of herself in a way their father never imagined. Unfortunately, Lawrence is stubborn. He won’t change unless someone else kickstarts that change by being extremely impressive. Which is… Not ideal but it is, however, the only way I see that change happening.

Plot Two - Throw Me in the Delorean and it Never Happened: The thing about anger is that it is all-consuming. The thing about vengeance is that it is blinding. And the thing is: when you’re running on both and only on both, you are going to make a mistake. Lawrence is so desperate to be perfect that realizing he made a mistake would be devastating. So you know what I want? I want him to make an absolutely disastrous mistake and I want him to kill the wrong person that he was convinced was involved in the plot to kill his father. Think of it as his own blind stabbing through a curtain without checking to see who was on the other side. I want it because there is nothing like realizing your oopsie resulted in the loss of someone that should have seen the next sunrise to shake the foundations of your conviction. It would be perfect as it would show Lawrence he isn’t infallible and he isn’t perfect, no matter how hard he tries to be Personally, I’d love if he makes a go at a Montague and is forced to also check is loyalty and conviction to the family he’s worked with since he was a little boy. This could easily evolve from him keeping an eye on someone and completely misinterpreting what they’ve been up to and acting rashly. I feel like his failure of judgement would leave the Montagues shaken and reeling and it would further destabilize the city, which is frankly a big yes please from me. I also want Lawrence to try and cover his failure up and fail miserably. That’s really just because I feel like it would be a very interesting character study to see how Lawrence deals with trying to hide the evidence of his imperfection and doesn’t have a lot to do with Verona as a city, but alas, I am just a humble writer too focused on the golden boy and recognize that aspect of this may not come to play at all.

Plot Three: The Beauty of a Broken Bust: In the biography, you wrote that “he was put on a pedestal so high that a fall might’ve shattered him”. That foundation he’s on isn’t the sturdiest of things at the moment, considering the person that made that base is now dead. So, I want him to shatter and break apart. I want the pieces that had made him up, the pieces that he has forced to make him up to go flying to who knows where, leaving Lawrence with nothing else to do but to rebuild himself entirely without his father’s influence. This would change his perspective on the war as well as his relationships with nearly every character in this RP. It would also force him to confront the actions and choices he made while trying to become someone his father would be proud of. I truly believe this is something he must eventually go through because the person he is trying to be for a dead man isn’t sustainable nor is it healthy! Something has got to change and that something is code for Lawrence. I can see this happening because of the death of his sister, a very personal betrayal from inside the Montague family, or from the plot I mentioned directly above. If Lawrence stays the way he is, however, he’s going to burn himself out before he can give the Vernon name any sort of justice and he has to accept that. The issue with this plot is that he’s so stubborn and this happening would require a push so strong I’m not entirely sure I want to see it. (That’s a lie, I absolutely do want to see it, but my internal dramatics insisted that I state it that way.)

Plot Four - Now Would You Kindly: Now, I know y’all said three plots and I hear you, but I have more ideas and I want to share them! The first of these extra ideas is that it is a truth universally acknowledged by Montagues, Capulets, and Vernons alike that Alvise was not a good man. Lawrence knows this, Roman knows this, the pigeons that litter the city know this. I want evidence of his wrongdoings to come swinging back and to slap Lawrence so hard that he’s forced to question if the footsteps of his father are ones worth following. Maybe it’s in the form of letters of blackmail or an investigation into how many innocent people he helped kill, but I want it to happen and I want the evidence to be so overwhelming it almost drowns Lawrence. He’s spent a very long time pushing down what he wants to be for what his father wants him to be and I want Lawrence to question if it’s really been worth it, if that kind of person has been worth the outrageous effort he’s put in to make it happen. And maybe that person isn’t someone Odessa wants to be related to, which is something I think would absolutely impact Lawrence’s decision. She is his last living blood relative, after all.

Plot Five - I’m the King of the Castle: In Lawrence’s mind, I have no doubt that he believes he should be the Montague underboss now that he is back in town. He has, after all, fought for it, cried for it, and killed for it. However! He is not the underboss and that has no doubt rubbed him the wrong way. So, I want him, in his crusade to avenge his father, to also do his best to prove how perfect he is for the underboss role. I want him to leap into impossible jobs and to push down his morals yet again and brush on a mask of cruelty because he wants it, he deserves it, and it his in his name and therefore his legacy that he has the blasted title of underboss! He needs to fight for it and I want that fight to be obvious and also just flat-out brutal to observe.  I don’t know if I actually want him to get it, if I’m being completely honest. Him having the title also raises some issues about what he did to get there, issues I want to explore, however I feel that such a role would push Lawrence too far in one direction on that vague scale of morality and loyalty he currently exists on and I kinda want him to keep waffling on it for as long as possible. This could change however! Especially with plotting. And I recognize that, so I will say that the core of this plot is his fight for the role of underboss and less about what would happen if he got it.

Are you comfortable with killing off your character? | Yeah, I’m ok with that! It would really suck, especially given how the Vernon family has been absolutely just. Destroyed. Uprooted. Left unmoored and drifting in the wind like last week’s laundry. But that same instinct that tells me that killing Lawrence would a) sprinkle in some awesomeness that is the original source material in a very satisfying way and b) would upend Verona even more than its already been, giving and taking motivations from people and maybe driving the rest of the Montague family just absolutely over the deep-end, which I would pay actual, real-life money to see. The slow destruction of the Vernon family is the slow destruction of Verona herself which means there is some drama to be had in Lawrence’s death! And I do love drama.

In-Character Interview (I only did two, please let me know if you want more!):

“What has been your biggest mistake thus far?”

Lawrence swallowed, face kept carefully still to give nothing away. Answers sprung to the tip of his tongue, eager to leap forward like hounds released from their kennel, but opening that door would destroy a lot more than just Lawrence’s reputation. Indeed, the perfect tool should not have so many answers to that question, but perhaps, Lawrence mused, his time away had done something to his obedience.

He stalled for time by taking a sip of the drink he had been neglecting in the warm Italian air. It was now unpleasantly lukewarm as the golden heat of the day made its way into the glass but it was better than nothing. It was only as he took a small sip that an answer sprung to mind, one that was both truthful and good for the image he was attempting to maintain.

“I have to say it was leaving the city,” he commented, returning the glass to the table. “I… left for reasons I am proud of, especially because there’s nothing wrong with being educated in this world. But if I had stayed, I could have done something!” Lawrence’s fist hit the table, making the glass and girl across from him jump. The sudden burst of temper was gone as quickly as it had arrived as his hand opened and his shoulders relaxed. “If I had stayed, this all wouldn’t have happened and a great man would still be with us. But I didn’t and now my father is dead.” He shrugged, meeting the girl’s eyes and hoping she wouldn’t see the emotion carried in them. “If I had come back earlier, Verona would be a very different place.”

“What are your thoughts on the war between the Capulets and the Montagues?”

His jaw clenched so tightly, a particularly attentive listener could hear his teeth protest the treatment. Lawrence’s hand held the chair like it was the only thing keeping him from leaping across the room to punch the smugly smirking man in the nose. “Just because I’ve only recently returned,” he gritted out, “does not mean I have gone turncoat. There is nothing,” he spat out, “nothing in this city more justified or honorable.”

His body eased the tension that it had so rapidly adopted as he noticed the nervous twitches and aborted movements to concealed weapons that had begun filling the room. As he eased, the rest of the room did too. “But you’re wrong,” Lawrence continued quietly, though there was no mistaking the vehmance leaking from his mouth like poison. “This isn’t a war. This is justice long overdue and more than earned. To call it a war is to imply the Montagues are not fully in the right.”

Lawrence took a deep breath, exhaling some of the passion he had been speaking with not long before. “I wish it wasn’t the loss of my fath–” His voice cracked and Lawrence swallowed, once, before continuing. “Alvise that had caused it, but it is only makes this city all that more dangerous for the Capulets. Because now I am back in Verona and I am coming for every single one with Vernon blood on their hands.” Perhaps it was dramatic, but the ice-cold certainty that hung in Lawrence’s voice stole any humor from the proclamation.

In-Character Para Sample:

He was eight years old, holding a pistol in shaking hands barely large enough to operate the thing. A slowly expanding puddle of red licked at his new shoes, staining them from cream to what would, by tomorrow, be an ugly brown. The shoes were what Lawrence focused on, the shoes and their new color. Because if he didn’t, if he looked up, he’d see the man slumped against the wall like a marionette without strings. If he looked up, he’d see the evidence of his actions.

Larger hands took the gun from Lawrence, trying and failing to be gentle. He wasn’t large enough to stop Alvise, though he wouldn’t even if he could. If his father took the gun, he could also take the body and the unbearable weight of its existence. Lawrence knew his father could fix anything, make any problem go away, and so he let the gun go. Maybe his father would fix this too. The two said nothing to each other as large men quietly entered the room, cleaning it, restoring it under the watchful eye of a king of Verona. Lawrence kept his eyes on his shoes.

Before long, Lawrence had been bundled into a car. The gun and body were gone as were his shoes. The next morning, there would be a new pair of shoes, cream and pristine, sitting at the foot of his bed. They stayed there, untouched, until Lawrence outgrew them.

He was thirteen at a new school, all restless energy that danced under his skin because, for the first time in his life, he was allowed to play a sport. He chose football, of course, but the black and white ball came with strings he never anticipated. Fitness was never the problem, it was balancing practice with everything else. Which bruise came from cleats and which came from fists during sparring was never an easy distinction, but as he got better at the sport, he began to look more and more like a poster child for the American Child Services.

It was a lack of sleep that ultimately did him in, made him sloppy. Alvise pulled him aside one Sunday morning before the sun graced the tops of Verona’s rooftops and told him to choose, choose between the sport and his last name. It was presented as a choice freely given, but the look in Alvise’s eyes made it clear it was anything but.

Lawrence quit the football team the next day, despite thinking that if he just kept with it, he could have made the national team. Somewhere, in a shoebox in the back of a closet, are a barely-used pair of cleats.

He was sixteen, armored inside a jacket of patches and studs, the handmade messages stitched to the outside screaming his fury at the world. There was a funeral scheduled that afternoon and Lawrence wasn’t going to be able to make it. The jacket weighed heavy on his back as he cursed Verona and the Montague name for letting his friend, the only one not tied to his father’s world, die because of it anyway.

But Lawrence was needed elsewhere that afternoon, Alvise’s steady gaze still hanging heavy across his back though the man had left some time ago. That coffin was going to go into the ground and with it, the boy affectionately nicknamed “Ray” by the body in that coffin was going to be buried too. The patches that the two had spent so long on, the quiet acts of teenage rebellion and freedom would join the nickname, and Lawrence would once again become the son of Alvise.

No one among the Montague family was going to mourn the dead civilian from two weeks before. No one but Lawrence, and he screamed it from the rooftop. It was only when his throat ached and the fire inside him was less of an inferno that he left the roof and changed into a suit. Alvise needed him elsewhere, and he was never one to disappoint. Lawrence pretends he lost the jacket, even though he knows exactly which trunk it’s collecting dust in.

He was twenty-two when he took the role of captain, the final stepping stone before Alvise’s throne, it seemed. It struck him like a plank of wood across the face when he realized being a Vernon wasn’t enough. His soldiers would listen, and yes, they’d do what he’d ask, but they lacked the respect they gave his father. For the first time, he needed to be more than a Vernon and he rose to the challenge with relish.

He never learned to address them like his father, a man who had perfected the harsh bark that made every muscle in a body snap to immediate attention. That seemed to be a skill reserved exclusively for the man Lawrence knew he needed to become. He never perfected it, but he did learn how to get close enough to command respect and the focus of a room. Then the Vernon name dripped from those around him, praising him for how like his father he was. But that wasn’t enough anymore.

He was twenty-four when he left Verona, determined to outshine his father. It wasn’t enough to just be a Vernon, he had to be better than that. He doesn’t talk about that time with Veronans, the free laughter and the hours spent in a library, writing essays on things he only cared about because they were things to outdo his father. But even as Alvise hung like a ghost over his shoulder, he was still thousands of miles away. His weight that had hung over Lawrence was lifted, and it was only when it was gone he realized it had been there at all.

He would never say it, but his time out of Verona was possibly the happiest times he’d ever had.

He was twenty-eight when Lawrence got the phone call that his father was dead. He is twenty-eight still, but his hands still shake when he fires a gun. He is twenty-eight, and he sneers when someone on the national team fails to score a goal. He is twenty-eight, but anger towards the Montague family still overtakes him at times, clawing at his throat and heart, begging to be released. He is twenty-eight and he has still not learned how to deliver orders like Alvise. He is twenty-eight and despite it all, Lawrence Vernon is his father’s son. He carries a torch alongside his father’s name and even though he is not Alvise, he has never let him down and he has returned to Verona with a bag of clothes and the Vernon name. Wars have been fought with far less and Lawrence has been fighting every day of his life for his father.  He just never thought he’d have to fight Verona.There was a time for goodness, but now is the time for success.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND:

PERSONALITY: 

Emmeline, for the most part, is quite modest when it comes to herself and her talents. She is never one to talk herself up, yet knows just what she is capable of and not. She is often one to deflect compliments, preferring to say it was nothing at all when internally she understand the meaning of it. She is strongly opinionated, but it is rare she will ever speak up about those certain thoughts unless pressed to admit her thoughts. Perhaps the Order could do well with knowing what she has to say, but she doesn’t have the faith in herself to let her thoughts be known. In her mind she knows that to most she’s just a Healer, just the one that fixes their problems when they’ve gone, just the one that fixes them when they are hurt.

When it comes to her patients, however, she has a certain empathy, wanting the best for them, but also won’t tolerate their bullshit when they try and pull one on her. She isn’t against the occasional dirty tactic to keep them under her care for their recovery, while it is never anything harmful, it is often just enough to keep them where they are. On occasion, her empathy can be too much, with Emmeline almost becoming too attached to some patients, feeling their loss personally even when logically she knows there was nothing she could do to save them.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY: 

Logic runs deep within Emmeline’s family, her father a Curse Breaker for Gringotts, applying the same logic and intelligence that he passed onto his daughter, just in a different manner than her. His work kept him away for long periods of time as Emmeline grew up, leaving her alone with her mother and siblings while he worked. The eldest child, Emmeline was the first to enrol at Hogwarts and to leave home, even if not permanently. While she is close to her family, closeness is not something which has to be fostered by hours and days spent together. They all know well enough the bond that is between them, knowing that if they need each other, then they’ll never be that far away, and when they do meet up it is as if no time has passed at all.

Emmeline is admittedly closer to her mother than her father, based mostly in the fact that her mother was the parent that was around the most when she was young. She shares certain connections with her father, seeing how they are similar as she ages, but it is never quite the same or as open a relationship with her father as it is with her mother.

She knows that her family worries for her, her parents in particular, often mentioning that she needs to take a break when they find time to see each other or in the occasional letter that gets sent between them. However, when there is so much at stake, it is hard to listen to them and what they believe best for her when there is so much more that she can be doing to help others.

OCCUPATION: 

Emmeline is a Healer and was the career that she knew she wanted to follow after her education at Hogwarts was completed. She is still relatively new when it comes to being a fully qualified Healer and was the wizarding equivalent of an intern when she made contact with Dumbledore in regards to joining the Order. While qualifie, she has yet to specialise in one particular area of medical care, some of her flaws showing when the worst of cases fall into her lap when she is practicing at the Potter Estate. However, she takes it all in her stride, consulting various textbooks she still has to keep hold of her duty of care.

At present, she is struggling to keep up with the demands of both her role at St Mungo’s and assisting the Order, though she fears leaving her role at St Mungo’s, believing if she were to leave now she would wind up having to settle for working as a wizarding equivalent of a GP when she was to return to her proper career. Sooner or later the hard work and exhaustion will catch up with her, hopefully not causing a patient of hers to suffer in the process.

ROLE WITHIN THE ORDER/THOUGHTS ABOUT THE ORDER: 

Emmeline’s role within the Order is to keep people alive. She has yet to see the front line in the war and doesn’t plan on doing so any time soon. That isn’t her job and that is fine with her, knowing where her skill is and that there is no one else in the Order, bar the likes of Dumbledore and potentially Moody and Shacklebolt, that out skill her when it comes to Healing. She doesn’t have much time to think about everything crumbling around them, her main focus being her patients, both to do with the Order and those at St Mungo’s. They are her priority and always come first before herself or any other factor of the war.

For the most part, Emmeline keeps away from the politics of the Order, listening in, but rarely ever voicing her opinion unless it is asked directly of her, which it rarely ever is. She can see where improvements could be made, but no one ever gives her the time of day to fully contemplate them and even less to let such ideas come to fruition.

Additionally, Emmeline is too busy most of the time to contemplate what is going to happen next, having to focus herself in on what is happening presently rather than what may come. She knows things are bad, that they are getting worse, but she can’t allow herself to get caught up in all of that when she has patients to look after in the present which are owed more of her time than her sitting down to wonder about the future. Maybe the Order will come crumbling down, but Emmeline will always have a place in the war, whether it be with the Order or St Mungo’s, her duty of care will always exist.

SURVIVAL: 

Emmeline is a little surprised in herself that she has not succumb to the war thus far, especially considering where she works in her known occupation. Each time she walks into St Mungo’s, there is always that thought in the back of her mind that she may not leave, a place for the invalid being an easy target where the victims are even less able to fight back than they would in their fit state. Only those in desperate need are currently visiting St Mungo’s, the risk of a large group of wizards being congregated together not outweighing the benefits of proper medical care.

At the present, Emmeline doesn’t really have a home, but a glorified wardrobe and bathroom that she sometimes gets to visit. Between long hours at St Mungo’s and visiting the Potter and McKinnon Estates, she more often than not finds herself sleeping in those places when time allows her even a brief reprieve. Once or twice a week she makes it back to her small flat, a hole in the wall sort of place, one that she has never spent much time in, even before her involvement with the Order due to her medical training and work.

RELATIONSHIPS: 

While Emmeline has never felt alone, she has never thrived on an active social life, liking her own company and that of learning rather than spending extended periods of time with other people. There are few Emmeline is close with and those she deems close enough, are under the belief that she is spending the majority of her time at St Mungo’s. While it is true, they don’t know about the rest of her time she spends working for the Order and the endless work she is doing. However, her lack of contact for long periods of time is not at all unusual when it comes to Emmeline, her work having always been the priority and that has yet to change.

Within the Order, Emmeline mostly keeps to herself, though not intentionally. She has so much going on that finding time to foster connections with those that she is fighting with is hard to come by. That doesn’t stop her being friendly with those that are part of the group, though she’d not truly consider any of them a friend if they were not brought together by such circumstances. Those that she is the closest with are those that have been under her care the most, whether by lack of luck or acting stupidly brave and getting themselves hurt time and time again. Still, despite that, they are still her patients and their care comes before friendship in her mind, even if it means healing them to send them out to battle and come back to her care once more.

OOC EXPLORATION:

SHIPS/ANTI-SHIPS: I have no set relationships for Emmeline, any connections she forms are something that will come from the writing and plotting that will inevitably take place. I am open to most anything as long as there is a connection and chemistry there.

WHAT PRIVILEGES AND BIASES DOES YOUR CHARACTER HAVE? 

Emmeline is privileged in the fact that she hasn’t directly seen the worst of the war itself, only seeing the aftermath as patients come under her care. She has never been in a serious level of danger, not like those that she treats and strives to keep alive. It is unlikely that she will be in such danger, unless the place she is currently occupying comes under attack, something that she is quietly grateful for in amongst everything that is going on.

Additionally, Emmeline is a half-blood in a war that is partially waged against muggleborns, while not being pureblood herself, her blood status gives her some protection she wouldn’t have otherwise as a muggleborn. In society, she’s somewhere in the middle, not important or pure enough to be thought of often, but not so low that she’s an immediate target in the war. She skirts under the radar, doing both what she has to and wants to do, but otherwise tries to keep herself as far away from the direct conflict as possible while focusing on what her job is first and foremost.

In regards to biases, Emmeline is free of most biases, her profession making it harder for her to act in such a manner. To her, a life is a life, whether they be pureblood or muggleborn, as long as they do not intend to harm, she is willing to help them. However, she does have her opinions and while she doesn’t wish serious harm on others, she does wish some would look after themselves more than they do. It frustrates her when she has to heal the same person over and over for getting themselves injured in the same way, knowing she could be using her talents elsewhere, knowing how they are important to others.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? Emmy brought me here. She suggested the group to me and it was refreshing to see a group that isn’t focused on the same typical things that most groups are. While ships are great and all, there is a time and a place for them and the end of a war that is being lost isn’t strictly the best place for them. It doesn’t mean that they can’t happen by any means, but it doesn’t have to be the be all and end all of a group which is what I can see in this group.

PLOT DROP IDEAS: More of Emmeline’s observations and the potential that she gets accused of being the mole and how that would pan out when others in the Order think that of her. People often talk in front of her now without thinking about it and it would be interesting to see the change in that and perhaps feeding her false information to see if the Death Eaters find out the information to determine whether or not she is what they think she may be.
