I think when Bella is finally introduced to the family she's quite jelouse of Edward's relationship with you, there's no real incureties to it, she just doesn't want girls hanging around Edward.

Bella also thinks your plan and shy, there's off hand comments on how she's discribes you, Edward on the other hand discribes you as happy, humorous, and so beautiful.

You guys are always throwing harmful comments to each other and Bella usually takes it too far.

You also hate how she's treats her father. She always gets mad and says it's none of your business and you have no idea what you were talking about.

As you entered the gardens, your footsteps were muffled by the lush grass. It wasn’t possible, not at all, but the kings could almost feel how their hearts quickened with anticipation. The Volturi guard, standing sentinel around the designated area, exuded an aura of reverence and support, they had decided to take a moment to maintain this moment untouched by the responsibilities of everyone outside. Their tasks were simple, make sure that you four wouldn’t be interrupted. Each member of the guard, adorned in their regal attire, wore a gentle smile, their eyes conveying unwavering love and acceptance.

Aro, your charismatic and visionary king, the spokesman of the three kings, stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous sparkle. "Ah, my love, we have orchestrated this moment with utmost care and affection, for we have longed to profess our love for you in a setting as extraordinary as the bond we share."

Then, Caius, your strong king, let his stoic facade softened by the warmth of his emotions and spoke with a resolute tenderness. "In your presence, we have found solace and completeness. The depths of our hearts are forever entwined with yours. Tonight, we offer you the promise of a love that transcends time and fate."

Finally, your quiet but caring king… Marcus, the always introspective, with his gaze full of profound intensity, whispered words that carried the weight of centuries. "The course of our immortal existence has been irrevocably altered since the moment we met you. Your presence fills our lives with purpose, and your love has breathed new life into our souls."

With their words hanging in the air, the Volturi kings stepped closer, their eyes locked on your own, their hands extended in a gesture of unwavering commitment. Aro, his voice both commanding and gentle, continued, "In this enchanted garden, beneath the moon's tender gaze, we ask for the honour of your hand in a union that surpasses mortal bounds. Will you become our beloved, our partner in eternity?"

This is it… They were finally asking you the biggest question of your inmortal life…

Overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of love and devotion before them, your heart swelled with emotion. Tears of joy danced in your eyes as you gazed at the kings and the extraordinary scene they had meticulously crafted. The tears would never fall, unable to find release thanks to your unnatural anatomy, but still, the emotion was there, your face and whole body were showing off the multiple feelings that were going through your heart and mind at the moment. It was a moment that surpassed your wildest dreams. You knew they wanted to marry you, you were aware of the fact that this would eventually happen but… Now? Like this? This was better than any dream, better than any imagined scenario that you had created in your mind. This was a thousand times better because this came directly from them.

You knew this wasn’t the time to be shy, you needed to convey all your feelings and you were planning to do it. Your kings had created such a beautiful proposal for you, there was no way you wouldn’t correspond to their feelings in the best way you could. So… with a voice filled with love and unwavering conviction, you replied.

"I spent most of my life until now… chasing a love that would never come true… But it’s in your arms, that I have found solace, passion, and unwavering support. To be chosen by you, to be cherished and loved by all three of you, is a gift beyond measure. With all my heart, I accept your proposal, knowing that our love will continue for the rest of our lives and that, it’s only your love, the thing that I was truly craving when I was lost….”

On the other side of the world, a similar, but quite different picture was starting to appear as the sun began its descent beyond the horizon, casting a soft golden glow across the meadow of the forest of Forks.

There, Bella stood on the delicate precipice between love and doubt. With the warmth of the evening air wrapped around her, mingling with the scent of grass and wildflowers, she asked herself if this whole situation was what she actually wanted. Still, she stood there, waiting faithfully doing her best to stay immobile as she waited for Edward to arrive.

Bella’s heart was heavy with conflicting emotions, doubts creeping into her mind like shadows, whispering their insidious words. She couldn’t help it, the problems, the fights, Edward's own actions in front of you and in front of the kings of the vampires, all of those little things were starting to pile up and they threaten to pour out of her heart, filling her head and soul with doubt and questions that nobody seemed to want to answer. Also, a part of her questioned if Edward truly loved her as deeply as he professed. After all, the way he reacted to meeting his ex-partner, even after he told him that it was you that was hanging onto a relationship long over, it was confusing. You had already moved on, so… Why was Edward so upset about it? Why did the brunette make such a scene accusing his ex-lover of horrible things and trying to attack them? And then… his actions towards her during their trip back to Forks, his reluctance to turn her into a vampire, to make her inmortal so they could be together forever… Did he really love her and cherish her as much as he said to do? Or were his words merely empty promises, masking a more self-serving desire to keep her in his world for a while? Like a little pet, a little thing you want to love, knowing that they wouldn’t live as long as you do… Did Edward see her as just a fleeting love? Maybe he saw her as something he could play with and pretend to love with the reassuring thought that she would grow old and die while he would stay young forever…

Bella gazed at the shimmering light filtering through the trees, the same light that had once illuminated their undying love. She still remembers the hidden encounters, the kisses in the forest and laying in the same meadow as Edward while talking sweet nothings to each other. She remember how he explained about you, about his disturbed ex-lover that dreamed of a wedding that would never happen and that fantasied about a relationship that was long dead. At the time, she was so worried for Edward, so saddened by the fact that he was tied to you, and so resentful for the fact that she had to hide her love under those threes and little bits of lights… But now, the same lights and soft shadows cast doubts upon her heart, casting darkness upon the very foundation of their relationship.

At this point, she couldn’t help but ask herself if anything of what Edward told her was even true. When she met you, you attacked her and yes, acted crazy but… were your actions really the act of someone delusional and trapped in the past? Or were those the doings of someone that was betrayed and lied to by the man they loved? Edward and herself -even if now she was ashamed of it- had made fun of you behind your back, joking about your mind being trapped in a delusion where your ex-boyfriend was still in love with you… and yet, now, she was the one who felt trapped.

She was entangled in a web of her own dreams and desires, her own personal simulated world. She felt weak, stupid… She let herself be moved by the allure of immortality, the idea of being the only one in the life of a creature that was designed to be perfect, the idea of forever being with Edward, of being loved for all eternity, the idea of being so important for someone that he was willing to ignore his own nature just to love her… that lies, that illusion held her captive. So, still with all those doubts and worries plaguing and poisoning her mind and heart, she stayed there, standing motionless, waiting for her boyfriend.

And just a few seconds later, there he appeared, a figure emerging from the depths of the forest, it was just the blink of an eye for Bella, but suddenly, he was in front of her, looking directly at her expression while his eyes glowed with an intensity that had once mesmerized her. Now, she wasn’t sure what she felt looking at that unnatural gleam in his eyes, she was just glad that he couldn’t hear her thoughts, thankful for the shield nature had given her. Edward had approached her with a confidence that both comforted and unnerved her. His voice, so sweet and melodic, echoed through the meadow, blending with the whispering breeze. She felt like he was trying to touch her with his words, cover her and hide her from the world… She used to be grateful for that feeling…

"Bella," he said, his voice laced with tenderness… but was it real? "I have loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you. Every beat of my heart, every fibre of my being, longs for you. There is no doubt in my mind that you are my destiny, my forever."

His words reached her ears, but her heart yearned for more than mere declarations. Besides, his promises and sweet nothings seemed to stay there, unclear and almost impossible to be true. Did he yearn for her because of his love? Or was it because of some weird instinct that he couldn’t control? The doubts that plagued her thoughts begged for reassurance, a tangible proof of his unwavering commitment, a way to show that he truly loved her and wasn’t only following what he thought he had to do...

Was this proposal an act of genuine love, or a desperate attempt to keep her bound to him?

As Edward dropped to one knee, a small velvet box in his hand, Bella's heart fluttered with a mixture of hope and trepidation. What? She wasn’t confused, she understood what his words and actions meant but… She wasn’t even eighteen just yet… She was barely finishing high school… Did she want to tie herself to Edward without a chance of experimenting with other things in life? She wasn’t legally allowed to drink, she hadn’t thought of universities or if she wanted to work in something in particular… Hell, she was still a virgin!

But there it was… The delicate ring nestled within the box glimmered in the waning sunlight, a symbol of an eternity she had once craved. The commitment and future she once asked for… She even pushed Edward to take her back after he tried to leave her when the first vampire attacked her… Then she saved his life and almost pushed him to commit to her forever…

But…

Did she genuinely want this? Weren’t all teenagers allowed to do a couple of stupid things before becoming real adults? Still, how could she say “no”?

At that moment, looking at that gorgeous ring in that delicate velvet box and looking at Edward that was waiting for an answer with a small and charming smile, she felt the weight of his expectations pressing upon her, and she wondered if she could truly deny him.

Her mind raced, questioning the very essence of their love. Was it pure and selfless, or did it stem from a possessive need to control her destiny? Did Edward want her because of her? Or did he want her just to avoid losing something else that he considered his? Doubts clouded her mind and she knew that if she didn’t control herself, she would start shaking… Still, she found herself hesitating, unable to voice her doubts. The fear of losing him and the dreams she had woven around their future kept her silent. She spent so much time thinking of being with him. She risked her life, ruined other relationships, and forgot about the other possibilities of her future just to stay by his side, so… If she decided to say “no”, what would be of her? What would she do? At this point, she wasn’t sure if she could be Bella without Edward by her side…

At that moment, the conflict within Bella reached its climax. She couldn't deny the love she felt for Edward, nor could she ignore the doubts that now consumed her thoughts. Still, there was no more time, Edward was there, in one knee, waiting for her answer and she was about to get all that she thought she wanted… She just needed to ignore the questions. It wouldn’t be so hard, and maybe with time, she would get used to it…

And so, with a mixture of reluctance and resignation, she whispered, "Yes, Edward. I will marry you."

As he slid the ring onto her finger, sealing their fate, Bella couldn't shake the lingering doubts that were whispered in the recesses of her mind. But for now, she would bury them beneath a facade of acceptance, hoping that time would reveal the truth behind Edward's words and intentions. In any case, she at least knew that Edward loved her or cared for her to the point of wanting to marry her and that would be enough… That needed to be enough.

-It won’t be…- Her mind whispered, almost like answering to her silent promise. Weirdly enough, the voice sounded so much like yours that she couldn’t help but feel like she was making a mistake. Still, it felt like it was too late to change her mind now. She was going to marry Edward, and with that, she would turn into a vampire, like she was always meant to be. She was sure that with time, everything would fall into place. The doubt was, where would she fit in the whole picture once that happened?

Demetri Character Analysis - Part 1

Demetri New Moon - Duality of Diplomacy and Violence

Demetri first appears in the alleyway, instructed by Aro to bring two potential law-breakers back to him. Even in this tense and dangerous scenario with violence looming over everyone, Bella’s first impression of Demetri is his ‘soothing’ tone. This is no doubt a tactic to control the situation and discourage any rashness on Edward’s part. 

"Felix merely meant to point out the proximity of the sun," the other shadow said in a soothing tone. 

Even when Edward is refusing his request, Demetri continues to play the role of a ‘polite’ shadow who resembles ‘reasonableness’. Indeed, his request does seem reasonable - they 'merely' and ‘simply’ want to ‘speak’ somewhere less conspicuous.

But simple requests should have simple consequences - you don’t kill someone for refusing to comply. Him masking the underlying threat under the pretense of reasonableness when bringing someone back for trial is manipulative and calculating.

The second, more reasonable shadow cautioned. "Not here." He turned to Edward. "Aro would simply like to speak with you again, if you have decided not to force our hand after all."

It also shows that he is not someone that relies entirely on his vampire strengths and animalistics instincts (very common for vampires), and instead understands the politics of the hunt. 

A readiness to kill: 

What impresses me the most is how quickly he is able to shift from politely negotiating, to being ready to literally kill Edward and Bella, and then immediately return to his polite demeanor once Alice points out the human witnesses. He is able to evaluate the most suitable course of action in a split second, and adjust accordingly. This is not a simple task, as many hunters need to actively get into the mindset to kill.

I imagine this is a requirement for his job, where he is often the first point of contact with the accused, and would be forced to make a split second decision to either give them a chance to attend trial, or take swift actions to eliminate them if necessary.

‘No doubt, he would be a fighter. There was no other way he could have survived so long, always at the spear point of any attack. And he must always lead, because he was their tracker. (Breaking Dawn).

Therefore, Demetri is either someone who is able to calmly negotiate even when he is ready to kill, or someone who is able to quickly shift into a killing mindset. Either is equally impressive and dangerous.

Cruel Detachment:

“Nice fishing” (In reference to Heidi bringing back the group of tourists for the Volturi to feast on). 

It is one thing to completely disregard humans, it is another to joke about the mass-killing of them. I am not a vegetarian myself, but if I were to go to a farm and meet the cows that will to be sent to the slaughter house for the BBQ I’m throwing, I would not feel comfortable joking about it. 

To me, this is Meyer’s way of emphasizing the cruelty of the Volturi vampires, and using Demetri, who was the voice of reason, to make this comment really reinforces the point that even the most polite of them exhibits a callous detachment. It draws an interesting parallel to Alec’s interaction, where we are once again presented with a stark contrast between a vampire’s outward civility, and their inner detachment. It somehow drives the point more so than using someone like Jane and Caius.

Casanova of life?

Charlie Bewley, the actor portraying Demetri, once described the character as a “casanova of life.” However, there is nothing in canon that indicates this. In fact, I believe his proximity with Felix, who appears to be the actual casanova, would make this more difficult.

I imagine his tracking ability and Felix’s combat capabilities make them the perfect duo (find and eliminate), so the two would often work together. The persona Felix takes on is a flirty and impulsive muscle, and he often times might have to engage in conducts to reinforce this brute image (more on Felix in a later post). Therefore, Demetri would need to play the role of a mature, cautious leader, as seen in New Moon. This includes laying low and cleaning up Felix’s mess - to also participate in a promiscuous lifestyle would draw too much attention. I do think Demetri needs to be charming and sophisticated for his job, which might give the illusion of him being a ‘casanova’, but he's got too much responsibility to actually indulge in this lifestyle.

However, this is mostly my take on the limited information presented in canon. I would not be entirely surprised if he does turn out to be more promiscuous. It just means he is able to balance work with pleasure better than I give him credit for.

Do you think Aro was dying inside after the new moon, bc there's a whole ass new race of supernatural creatures that Carlisle discovered but never told him about and he can't go make friends with them bc they would try to kill him on sight?

This is very much in headcanon land as Aro doesn't really remark on it much.

However, the answer seems to be no.

They'd try to kill him on sight, certainly, but that's not really a risk to him with Alec/Jane/the sheer mass of numbers he has in general. More, he sees the precedent that the Cullens were able to live relatively peaceably with them and had some interaction. Sure, Carlisle has his crazy diet, but that doesn't mean negotiations are flat out impossible either.

As of Eclipse, given the funny smells Jane/Demetri were sure to notice in the area, and what Aro has of Edward's memories of Ephraim, it's unlikely (no matter what he said in Breaking Dawn) that Aro didn't know the wolves were still alive at that point. He may not have guessed at the surprising number of them but he'd have known they're around

Despite that, he doesn't really address them at any point in the series and really doesn't seem all that interested.

We sort of start and leave off with a, "Cool story, bro" vibe from Aro. He's interested, but not interested enough to do anything about it or care one way or another.

Alright I wrote it and it's not everything I imagined but it makes me happy...as happy as one can be for writing just after binge watching season 2 of Good Omens...@long-lost-idiot I blame you for this and thus you must read it and suffer with me... The whole thing short as it is, is below the Keep Reading or you can go see it on AO3.

Twilight Mini-Fics - Chapter 6 - Twihard_Diehard - Twilight Series - Stephenie Meyer [Archive of Our Own]

Alice might have shown Aro one of the outcomes if they decided to fight but just before he left, she showed him what it could be. 

He could be Uncle Aro and he would be beloved. He went home and wrote a letter and apologized for the Volturi’s behavior over the past while. He then spent time with the Cullens; at first, they were hesitant, but Edward knew he was serious and slowly relaxed and as he did Renesemee bloomed. She began demanding they have tea parties, and they did dramatic readings of the classics. Once Emmett happened across fanfic and the world was never the same. Renesemee once said she would love to go to an amusement park like Disney with her whole family and knew it would not be possible with vampirism. Aro promptly begged her forgiveness and left for several months. After which he sent an elaborate invitation to the entire Cullen clan and Wolfpack with whom he had created a tentative truce. Everyone boarded the plane he had sent for them and took off for destinations unknown. 

They set down on an island he had bought and crafted into a one-of-a-kind vampire vacation resort. They were escorted to themed cottages, all seeming to be based around a fairytale. Renesmee and her parents were in Snow White’s cabin, and it was more magical than even their home. The floors were all interactive and with each step the rocks wobbled in a river. They were given a nighttime welcome of fireworks.  

The next day they had breakfast with the princesses and princes of the stories. The wolfpack had a buffet of every food they could imagine, and the vampires all had blood from several surrounding island’s butchers. Even the Volturi controlled their appetite while on the island which had a purely vegetarian diet of blood for any visiting vampires. All of the Volturi guard were dressed up; Jane was Sleeping Beauty; Afton was Prince Charming; Chealsea was Snow White; Alec was Prince Phillip; Corin was Rapunzel; Dimitri was Eugene; Heidi was Belle; Felix was Prince Adam. There were roller coasters and teacup rides which turned out to be Renesmee’s favorite. Needless to say, they spent a month enjoying the theme park before the Volturi announced that they would be opening to the vampiric public. It was near the equator and had high walls so that anyone who visited could be out at any time and enjoy the delights of teacup rides. 

There were even historic elements; animated documentaries about the treaty between the Cullens and the Wolfpack; the battle where the Volturi dominated the Mexican uprising; even the defeat of the Romanians. As clans carefully approached the island, they were met with a chance to help create a new constitution for all ethereal beings, vampires, werewolves, & shapeshifters to start. It included bylaws for only eating those that used their power to harm those beneath them and that you could only have human blood three times a year; a month on a vegetarian diet convinced even the Volturi that it was possible and they funded numerous wildlife refuges to maintain their lifestyles and had contracts with most butchers around the world to buy their blood from slaughters.  

And through it all Aro had tea with Renesmee and rode the teacup ride and even dressed up as a fairy godmother once to help Renesmee make it to the ball on time; it was her first prom and only Alice and Aro were allowed to help her prepare because life without her quirky aunt and uncle was no life at all.  

Yes, Alice showed Aro his choices and hoped he chose the one that was much more fun.

“I don’t know how you do it.” His tone is caught somewhere between incredulity and appreciation.

Alec has no talent for these things. Despite an abortive attempt to follow his father into a medicine, he’s since found that his skills lie in the realm of words. He can recognise the importance of it, though - the importance of healing people, in all the possible ways that one can.

He has always been of the belief that it takes a special calibre of person to be able to do so, but there’s no bitterness in the fact that he doesn’t belong with them. He just feels lucky that he’s managed to come across a handful of them in his life.

“every gift in Twilight comes with a downside”

Fascinating concept, can you elaborate? I mean gifts like Didyme and Carlisle too? Jasper obviously can’t eat, Edward is... like that... and Aro gets to live sex with his sister, but Alice? Maggie? Siobhan? All of the gifted vampires? Eleazar? Renata, who has RapistBeGone magic? All of them?!

Oh it's just this pet thought I have.

So many gifts in Twilight come with a downside, if they aren't the undoing of the gift-haver entirely.

Mary Alice Brandon's family was dysfunctional (her father did kill her mother), but she would never have known, and lived out her life as a human woman. As a vampire she is defined by her gift, to the point where it's eroded the self, which I imagine is a mixed bag for her.

Edward has to always know what those around him are thinking, which apart from being a constant bother and a background noise, gets horrifying real quick considering all the awful things he is forced to know about people. On the flip side, Renesmee has a gift that erodes what little privacy she has, creating a power imbalance where everyone knows her better than she can ever know them.

Maggie was disliked and ultimately left to die by her family because they found her so off-putting, Jane and Alec were put to death for their gifts, and Benjamin was turned at fifteen so he could be Amun's pet, squirreled away from all the world.

Victoria lives in fear of everything because her gift is always telling her how much danger she's potentially in, from what we see in Midnight Sun her superpower is to have strategic anxiety. Great for survival, not great for living with.

Jasper was able to stay alive thanks to his gift, but it also drove him into a deep depression because he had to always know what his victims felt.

Chelsea has to live with the fact that those around her won't know for sure if they're close to her because they like her or because she made them, Corin's gift is to make those around her addicted to her, meaning her victims won't let her leave them.

Carlisle, if I'm right about him having a gift, has never had a real interaction with another being in three centuries, everyone has liked him because they are on some level influenced. Didyme, I imagine similar angst - do people love me for me, or because I give them happiness?

Aro, has to know every little thing about everyone around him, and has to endure the memories of the likes of rapists, traffickers, and god knows what.

Siobhan... depends way too much on how her gift works. Does she make things happen exactly as she hoped they would, or will a desired outcome for Siobhan come to pass in ways she perhaps didn't expect? What if she wishes for an outcome that turns out to be worse than what would have happened originally?

Eleazar's gift is useless. That's the drawback.

Renata has a terrific gift, with her the only caveat I'd make is that if I'm right about her suspect uncle Luca being the reason why that gift is what it is, then Renata has in it an eternal reminder. But, that's a thin one. Zafrina is another reminder of someone with a neat gift where I don't see any downsides, she just makes you think you're visiting the shrimp planet.

Mostly I find that enough of these gifts have chilling downsides or else caused enough destruction that I'm not sure I would want one if I were a Twilight vampire.

OK, let's up the stakes on the the Cullens adopting Alec and Jane. How would things go if the Cullens already had Bree? Again ignoring the HOW of Alec and Jane in the Cullens' care, how would they interact with Bree? Jane wanted to kill Bree (so I guess in this universe Aro or whoever overruled Jane). Jasper wanted to kill Bella and everyone's fine with him, so would Carlisle work on the kid's relationships? What sort of dynamic would there be?

My first thought is that it’s like when you’re used to being the youngest than your parents bring home a new sibling and you get jealous and self-conscious and feel like you’re being replaced. So Bree’s been there a few years, the baby of the family, doted on by Esme certainly, mentored by Carlisle, fussed over by big sister/second mom Rosalie, etc. 

And then Jane and Alec show up. TWINS. And even younger (physically) than 15/16-year-old Bree. 

Aside from the baggage and powers they bring with them, that’s already a huge shift in sibling dynamics. Bree isn’t the baby anymore, and she has to “compete” with TWO newcomers, who both have superpowers. 

But I still think Jane and Alec will be a Project that will take awhile; I think Bree would have fit in the family a lot more quickly and with less overall drama. She seemed to trust Esme and Carlisle pretty quickly. Jasper would take longer but that was true with Bella too. 

And while I think Rosalie would love Bree, another victim of vampirism who had her natural human life stolen from her and had been wronged by men, she would be a lot more skeptical of Jane and Alec given their past with the Volturi and the danger their powers pose to the family. 

And, yeah, the part where Jane wanted Bree killed. 

I suppose Jane just gives Bree a creepy smile all “Sorry, nothing personal, just doing my job” and Bree is just like wtf why are we letting her live here? 

But Esme would be the glue, as usual. She’d win over Alec first, and then eventually Jane. And Alec would bond with Emmett; he’d discuss more benign uses for his gift with Carlisle and maybe begin not to see himself so much as a weapon, and Jane’s ultimate loyalty is to her brother, so as she begins to see this a good environment for him, she’d start to accept it, too. And Bree would avoid them both for a long time, hiding in her room and reading. Until she eventually bonds with Alec, and Alec telling her Jane’s not so bad, and hearing stories of their life together and getting to see Jane as a person and not a scary punishing weapon, I think they could get there. 

And Esme would reassure everyone she loves them all the same except she still loves Edward most and the family would adjust. 

It would be, um, super big and powerful though. Which would complicate secrecy but also make the Volturi super jealous and feel threatened.

The Secret’s Out

Part 1: The Secret

Y/N has discovered she’s mated to the Volturi tracker, Demetri, and that the Cullens kept it a secret from her to keep her safe. What will happen now they’ve met and she won’t be able to escape his tracking skills?

“Carlisle I’ve messed up. Really messed up. I need help.”

“What’s wrong? What’s happened? Where are you Y/N?” Carlisle sounded concerned and you could hear Edward and Bella in the background asking what’s going on.

“I...I’m in Port Angeles...I...Carlisle I...I met Demetri” as you hear your friends in the background, the sound of your heart thudding louder now in your head as the realisation of what had happened hit you.

“Get back to the house immediately Y/N. Edward is on his way and will meet you. Where is Demetri now?” You look in your rear view mirror to see him standing where you left him, looking towards your car, a confused look on his face, but now he’s been joined by a much taller male with dark hair.

“He’s still there. Someone is with him now though, a tall man...Carlisle, they’re walking towards the car now, what do I do?”.

“Drive Y/N, he won’t hurt you, just drive”.

Demetri’s POV

Suddenly the engine started and she was off, speeding down the street.

“Er...Dem...what’s going on? What was that all about?” Felix looked perplexed, glancing between my face and the street where I was still staring.

“I think I just met my mate Felix” I turned to look at him, my brow furrowed as my interaction with Y/N repeated in my head.

“But...she’s human...?”

“That’s not the only issue Fe, she seems to be close with the Cullens” Felix’s eyebrows shoot up with surprise.

“Oh shit Dem. You need to talk to Jane and Alec. The masters will NOT be happy with you”.

“I know. Right. We must speak to the twins.”

You pull up to the Cullen house, Edward driving in behind you having joined you halfway through your journey to be sure you were safe.

“Y/N, are you ok? What happened?” Bella said as she walked fast towards you, pulling you into a hug.

“He found my keys for me, and then asked my name, he told me he was called Demetri. There was something off about him, but then I saw his eyes and I knew.” You thought back to looking into his eyes, it wasn’t like you expected...and you understood what Carlisle meant when he said you would want to leave willingly. You felt a pull immediately, like you had to be near him, be with him, despite knowing that he was far more dangerous than your friends. You didn’t feel fear thinking about him, you felt safe, and you felt anxious being away from him now.

Edward frowned at you and you realised that he had seen all these thoughts spinning around in your mind. “Sorry Edward, I don’t know what’s wrong with me” you shook your head as you spoke, hoping to shake away these thoughts.

“It’s the mate pull Y/N, you can’t help it.” Edward smiled slightly, looking towards Bella as he spoke. “We all understand.”

Carlisle stepped forward, “we need to be prepared that Alice’s vision may have changed, but I haven’t been able to contact her since she left with Jasper, so we can’t know for sure...Demetri may come for you Y/N, you need to be prepared to possibly make the decision to go with him”.

You thought carefully about Carlisle’s statement, and agreed to think more about it. You asked Carlisle if he could tell you more about Demetri and the Volturi, and he gestured for you to follow him into his study.

Carlisle talked with you about the decades he spent with the Volturi. He talked of trying to persuade the coven members that they didn’t have to kill to feed, and whilst most members dismissed him before he even had a chance to say anything, Demetri would listen, posing counter arguments and respectfully debating. Whilst Carlisle knew he would never be able to change his way of life, Carlisle appreciated that Demetri was willing to discuss it with him. Ultimately Carlisle decided that he needed to find people more like minded, and his time with the Volturi came to the end. He reassured you that you did not hold any bad will against Demetri for his time in Volterra, but that he was loyal to the Volturi, and that should always be a concern and something that you should think very carefully about.

That night, you were kept up with thoughts of Demetri, and, despite your friends warnings about him and the Volturi, you understood from Carlisle that Demetri was potentially good, just misguided.

When you were first told about your apparent bond with Demetri, you thought it was ridiculous. The idea that you would leave your friends and everything you know and love behind for someone you barely knew seemed impossible. But since meeting him today, every minute that went by without being in his company, you felt your heart aching more and more to be with him again.

Days passed with no contact from the Volturi or Demetri. The Cullens couldn’t help but expressing their fears about how odd this was. This only helped to raise your anxiety further, your heart still aching to see Demetri again.

“Aro wouldn’t let this just pass by, his prized tracker finding a mate after so many years. They must be planning something.” Edward said confidently, having seen into the mind of Aro on many occasions previously, knowing his desire for control and power. Bringing Demetri’s mate to Volterra would be sure to solidify his bond to the Volturi more so than it already was.

No one was under the impression that your humanity wouldn’t be an issue, Bella having experienced Aro’s determination to change that first hand. “What if they’re still planning to come to us like Alice saw? That they’re hoping to decimate us, and just take what they want?” Everyone glances at each other, the possibility of truth settling for everyone.

Another week had passed, and the lack of contact confused you. You had learnt more and more about the mate bond from your friends, and believed you were experiencing the pull yourself, so why wasn’t Demetri feeling the same thing?

Demetri’s POV

Two weeks has passed since I met Y/N and the distance between us was breaking me.

An agreement had been made amongst the guard that we would deal with our mission here in Seattle, getting our Volturi loyalists on side and prepared to meet with the Cullens in a weeks time. Then, when we meet with the Masters before we travel to Forks, I will inform Aro of what has happened.

It was too late to change our plans, plans which the Masters had worked hard to organise, Aro seeing this as a perfect opportunity to add to our coven.

But that didn’t stop my heart from feeling what it feels, it ached for me to be near her, to talk to her. The thought that the next time I will see the beautiful Y/N it would be to kill her friends and take her to Volterra, whether she wanted to join us or not. It wasn’t how I wanted to start forever together, but the mate bond is strong. She will forgive me in time won’t she?

OP, it sounds like you have an exact premise, plot, and idea in mind. As always, I implore you, write the fic. You'll be so much happier.

As it is, while we know Carlisle didn't meet Jane in Volterra I'm not sure he didn't meet Alec. I don't believe it was brought up in the same way that it was that he explicitly not met Jane during that time period.

That said, we've got a few issues here already

Why isn't Carine Becoming Mother to the Twins?

Carine's position in Volterra is weird and the twins have a reputation. The twins are child vampires, an oddity no one quite knows how to connect with, and they're the power that brings the world to its knees.

They're mostly working during this time but even when they're not they're terrifying.

I imagine Carlisle (and thus Carine) wouldn't be sure what to make of them except that he/she would imagine they wouldn't want his/her pity. And that would be what trying to become their new mother would be: pity.

Not to mention that Carine is ultimately a guest (or believes she is). She's not necessarily staying here forever, not really a part of the coven, and interacting with the guard like that, especially Jane and Alec would be one of those awkward things where she's probably not sure if she's crossing a line.

Would Edward Get Weird?

Even without Carine acting as mother to the twins, Edward would get weird. Edward did get weird in canon, and Carlisle hadn't even met Jane.

Edward doesn't think of Jane and Alec when it comes to Carlisle's time in Volterra, but he certainly doesn't like that Carlisle spent any specific amount of time there and was good friends with the big three.

I imagine Carine would be no different.

It might even be worse as Carine would presumably have a very close friendship with a man. While Edward would not suspect Aro/Carlisle, I imagine he would suspect Aro/Carine, whether it happened or not.

If Carine had any sort of rapport with the twins, and considered them anything close to children (even nieces or nephews) I imagine Edward would have all sorts of feelings about that as it would lessen what Carine has with the Cullens.

The Cullens are Carine's found family! Edward is only reassured by the fact that Carine did leave Volterra, made him, and made the rest of the Cullens.

But I imagine Carine's time in Volterra is always in the back of his mind.
