ventura may be my top favourite song in the album (noctiluca a close second, then in no particular order: mm, hiraeth, fake flowers...). without paying a lot of attention to the lyrics when the previews came out, i thought the title was a reference to the manga w the same name, but actually reading and listening to it, it seems to allude to a real cult where the repeating chant, ventura ventura space people, @ the end came from, the cosmic brotherhood association. song's lyrics feel like they're coming from a disillusioned cult follower when i learnt this lol

i think it's a fitting end to an album where the previous songs all have this fantastical, escapist feel (although in the usual saito soma fashion, equally depressing), dressed up in metaphor etc. this song is more straightforward ? like "oh. none of these are real"

Souma-san’s songs are as bewildering and open to interpretation as usual! However, this isn’t the first song in ‘Fictions’ to be about looking back on something (gestures to ‘Hiraeth’), and this song evokes SO MUCH nostalgia. I think it’s to do with looking back on something after it’s been lost, and just remembering that, along with the pains with it (hence the scream that SCARES ME EVERY TIME but works so well). The title and repeated ‘Ventura, ventura, space people’ tie the album off with a surreal, ‘Fictions’ feel. This song is looking back on the small things in life; glancing up at the sky, the cool night air (two of my favourite things)-- back to a simpler time.
