Do we know if the Japanese production of Six is a replica production or not?
It is a replica. They are doing the same thing they did with South Korea, where the UKT cast will be going to Japan to do two weeks of shows, and then the Japanese cast takes over.

Eve: "Regarding the lyrics, this time its about portraying the conflicts and feelings of the characters in Jujutsu kaisen. This kind of feeling inside me, made me choose the characters one by one and thus write the lyrics. I don't dare to say where or who..."
Also Eve:
Alternative translations: 1 2 3 4
The lyrics hit different after ch 271. I kinda want this to be the op for s4 ngl
#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#ryomen sukuna#gojo satoru#sukugo#my post#this is all eve all I did was take a screen shot at the convenient time to further my Sukugo agenda lol#I think the characters this is about are Sukuna Megumi gojo and maaaaybe yuji and yuta#But I think it's mainly about Sukuna's feelings during the shinjuku showdown especially towards gojo#It's art anyone can interpret it the way they want#but “my passion that towards you only cuts through the air like a wish” while showing the prison cube getting cut in half... yeah...#Also “lost emotions”??? Like what? Nervousness? Lmao#Love is when he makes you feel nervous for the first time in a thousand years#“thoughts voice words and lost emotions and love spin and spin towards the chance of victory” I love the use of the word “spin” here#cuz mahoraga's wheel spinning was like a count down for the you know what#I like how it starts with Sukuna's finger box and ends with it note how it has this black sludge thingy around it in the beginning#but in the end it's cleared (watch the video)#“Expectations overlap with regrets” *Shows their hands reaching* o m g????? That other hand is definitely Sukuna's it has black nails!!!#The other hand we see coming out of an eye !!!!!!#“the memory and love to be hidden and the eternal identity till death shall it be fine to keep them staying” While showing the last finger#And that heart cut in half!!!! it's probably about kashimo but kashimo was only created to bring the subtext into text anyways sooo...#That brain is definitely yuta taking over and I'd like to think that broken sphere is yuta's domain barriers that shattered in ch 263#Expectations overlap with regrets indeed 😏 that being the slowest part of the song is so fucking funny Sukuna's really missing his wife#To me now this song is about Sukuna's unspoken love and regret and preserving this love and memory for as long as his remains exist#Also there's a line in the song about these feelings “riding on the past and future” which is just aghhhh reminds me of Kashimo's question#why mince your soul into cursed objects and watch all those years go by what were you looking for#Sukuna literally time travelled met his love said he will remember him for as long as he lives and died in the same fucking day#only for his remains to stay protecting japan and preserve that memory The body is the soul and the soul is the body yeah?#Also Sukuna is basically tengen now so the six eyes is bound to him 😉 Gojo is the reason Sukuna's memory is preserved and vice versa#kenjaku baby trapped him to do bad things gojo finger trapped him into becoming Japan's protector against curses... Gojo best wife

Just finally finished termeraire series and like. Very iconic of Ms. Novik to devote at least an entire novel and an intricate exploration of dragonish impact to every inhabited continent in the world... except the US, which gets one (1) named dragon who shows up for one (1) scene
#temeraire#book six set it up actually#that seven would be NA#and then nope it was Japan time#what a decision

Okay, a few additions.
First of all, this is normal for replica productions, but we also know for a fact it’s a replica production. Official account has been talking about it for quite a while now, particularly with costumes.
Second of all, I’ve gotten a few asks about this photoshoot style so I’m just adding on to this post with some examples.
These are the cast announcement photoshoots from Hadestown and Moulin Rouge. Hadestown ran in 2021 (featuring our incoming Seymour 박혜나 second to left!). Moulin Rouge is currently open (and features both of our incoming Boleyns: 김지우 on the far left as Satine and 배수정 second to right as Arabia!)
And then here’s show photos, in replica costumes:
Again, both were replica productions, but we got the individualized stylistic photoshoots for announcement. They also both show slightly different directions in styling: the Hadestown photoshoots go more for outfits that loosely mimic the replica costumes that the cast wear in the show, whereas Moulin Rouge went more purely for the vibes and loose palette. Different direction, but both represent the show’s general production design and marketing well! It’s one of my favorite traditions in theatre and cast announcements; always wish we did it here in the US more! (And seriously, seconding Sofia, the styling for this Six announcement is fantastic)
And adding on to what Sofia said about logistics. Again, this type of announcement photoshoots are very standard for South Korean productions. Some of it may just be tradition, but part of it is based on a totally different logistical set up and structure than what US/UK fans are used to. Both broadly East Asian and more specifically South Korean productions of Bway/WE shows almost always only run for a few months (usually 2-3, although some run up to 5-6). That’s the standard, very expected, and planned for from the start. As a result, show management usually lines up productions in a few East Asian countries in a row. That means a production will usually run in one country for a few months, then send those costumes, sets, and sometimes members of the creative team to the next country for a few months, then sometimes on to a third or fourth. It’s much more cost and time efficient to do that then it is to have productions running in both Tokyo AND Seoul (etc) at once, with brand new sets and costumes made for each when they’re only going to run for ~3 months each. That means there’s usually about a month or two break between a production ending in one country and starting in the next. But cast announcements are made far in advance of that.
So…yes, costumes likely aren’t done yet, just like Sofia said (and of course costumes not being done by announcement is standard even in the US/UK). But more broadly these style of announcement photoshoots are also likely a mix of tradition and necessity, because, per the standard set up, the costumes are often still in use in another country when cast announcements are made.
Are the outfits that the South Korean cast are wearing in their promo photos their costumes or just outfits for their promo photos? They look great, though! It could be cool to see them in different outfits than other productions!
Those are just for promo photos. South Korea usually does cast announcements with a big photoshoot in outfits that are not in the show but have the same vibe. Those are later used for promo and cast boards.
Costumes will come later. It might be in part because of logistics. The promo photos were taken at least a week before they were posted. They don't open the show until april with tech probably mid march. Costumes are probably still in process and likely not even in SK yet.
But also the stylist for the shoot gets so many points. They created outfits that suit all of them, look cohesive together and give the right character vibes.

kind of weird that people are complaining about 'missing the opportunity to have japanese protagonist' when naoe is right there .... ac fans never fail to continue the trend of being misogynistic i guess
#there's a lot of media out there that have japanese samurai..... one black man isnt going to change the course of samurai media forever#also sorry to say but the historical protagonists were always diverse and came from different walks of life ...#i think ezio was the only one who came from wealth . everyone else had to build their names from the ground up#idk its like i suppose i could understand wanting something represented if there isnt a lot of it. but there is.#assassin's creed shadows#six speaks#also im not a history guy dont come for me#these games aren't supposed to replicate history 1 for 1 if ubi thought the 'guy who got stuck in japan' has potential for compelling story-#then whatever? i personally think its interesting. and again . naoe is right there. they are dual protagonists.
