A) Complete, medium length: Lan Zhan steps into the path of Wen Zhuliu coming for Wei Ying, loses his golden core. Afterwards, he tells no one but goes into seclusion. WWX is fine, and eventually comes to visit in Gusu. LWJ is reclusive as he is not a cultivator anymore (so he grows old faster than WWX), but they still build a connection. No solution for the golden core, just dealing with the new facts of life for LWJ, and building back some hope.

B) Similar in vibes, also complete: WWX travels to an alternative universe, where JC died and WWX is somehow the Jiang Sect Leader. He meets LWJ at a conference. The new universes' WWX was not friends with LWJ. LWJ's leg was still broken after the Wen Indoctrination and never healed, so LWJ is wheelchair bound (pushed by Jingyi). WWX builds up a friendship with LWJ but I think in the end he goes back to his own universe. This one sounds like that one fic where the theme was something like 'be careful what you wish for', iirc WWX wanted to see either his parents or JYL alive 🤔 ~Mod L

Generally, all I remember was that WWX went back to the past (Studying at GusuLan Arc) after dying during the Burial Mound Siege. He was so traumatized over it that he has decided he does not want anything to do with the cultivation world anymore. His personality changed (from cheerful to downright depressed, from lively to soulless) so much that everyone began to notice and wondered what was up.

However, I remember a scene which pushed him to flee Gusu. He was walking and listening as NHS talked and talked trying to get him back to his old personality. They met NMJ on the way. WWX on pilot mode said that he (NMJ) has heart demons and without ado removed the resentful energy lingering inside NMJ. This shocked the Nie brothers, the Twin jades and JC (the latter two having just arrived and witnessed WWX manipulating resentful energy).

WWX obviously panicked, packed his belongings and flees from GusuLan because he thought they would kill him again due to his manipulation of resentful energy.

But as he grew powerful, he also shapeshifted as a white tiger for a while because he needs to hunt to maintain his human form, and by doing so he needs a lot of demon meat so he needs to catch food with his tiger form a lot (I'm kinda confusing myself if WWX started as a tiger from beginning or not, but it definitely involves him as a ghost/tiger!)

Scent is pronounced in the same way the words 'sent' and 'cent' are pronounced. ok? but these words all have very different meanings

'scent' obviously means scent y'know. a smell.

'sent' is send in past-tense. to have something delivered or to deliver. but like yesterday. i guess.

'cent' as I'm sure you're aware, is a noun 'a cent'. just a fucking piece of metal worth a cent.

And this isn't the problem. english has plenty of this shit. and yeah is really fucking annoying. but we live with it.

My problem is that one (1) it's not just that they sound and are spelled alike. it's that they mean things that are SO different. which should help. context clues and shit. and it does. EXCEPT FOR WHEN YOU'RE SPELLING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN NOTHING MAKES SENSE ANYMORE.

Two (2) I spent actual time looking into this. and. as far as I can tell. the 'c' wasn't added 'til the 17th century (though I could be wrong about that) which means that, up to that point, 'sent' and 'scent' were just. spelled the same? I guess???

And last but certainly not least. Three (3) which fucking letter is silent??? Bc I looked it up. and istg. nobody agrees. like. Excuse me. What? they just. don't agree. Like some places sources? Sites? Whatever were saying that the 'c' is silent. bc we're making an 'S' sound when saying the actual word. And THEN there are these like shitheads or assholes or Smart People(TM) going "well technically neither is silent. Bc 'c' always sounds like 's' when it's before an 'e'" and I'm here like dude it's 4 am I don't need this shit right now bc I was just feeling the ADHD and. Honestly. This is stirring up some complicated feels ab the English. and how it does it's language business. like English you're being unreasonable, this shit is unfair, you can't just language like that.

So I love Jowan a borderline ridiculous amount, considering how much little he's in the game, but he's one of my faves and I've written him a lot across two different longfic universes(also played DAI as Inquisitor!Jowan), and I'll happily share observations/headcanons:

Cares about the Mage Warden as a friend even though he's jealous of their greater magical talent.

He's impulsive and idealistic BUT ALSO has a pessimistic streak (Assumes the worst in some situations to the point of panicking about it, but his plans for escaping the Circle are big on vague, hopeful goals and light on details--he and Lily will run away, get married, have a farm, and he'll give up magic. But Jowan. Buddy. You're all of 20 and have lived in a Circle since you were 5. How will you farm. How will you get a farm? How will you live without magic, saying nothing of the threat of possession that will still be there even if he's not actively practicing.)

It's a headcanon of mine that since magic is to a degree tied to a mage's will, being constantly--negatively--compared to his best friend re: magical skill has turned into a self fulfilling prophecy. No one thinks he's all that good as a mage, so he doesn't think he's all that good as a mage, and it's a factor in him being a so-so mage. (not the only reason; not that he'd suddenly be amazing if someone just believed in him or w/e, but a factor)

Dry sense of deadpan sarcastic humor that's probably a big part of why I like him. xD

Desperately wants to prove himself, to do the right thing, but keeps picking the wrong method for doing so bc of fear or impatience or bc he's being used by an authority figure he should be able to trust(Irving, I'm looking at you just as much as Uldred :|).

Definitely has some bitterness toward the Chantry.

I h/c he has a talent for fire spells, mostly bc the game kept giving those to him for the Mage Origin/Redcliffe lol

Not shy about acknowledging when things are his fault, in fact wallows in guilt to an almost paralyzing degree

Also headcanon just because I like it that he's artistic, like to sketch, and is really good at it

I feel like I'm forgetting several things, but some of that is just my h/c stuff for if you were able to conscript him. so it's not more generally relevant.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

lets have a better 2023, yeah?

this past week was,,, really good?

i hung out w l on wednesday and we went to a couple of thrift stores. i was originally looking for a desk chair but i gave up. l found quite a lot though. before we went we exchanged christmas gifts. i gave them a boob vase, some chocolate, rainbow lollipops, some hama beads in the colors of the lesbian flag, an orange short-sleeved button up i thrifted (i was so nervous they wouldnt like it but they did and im so happy abt it !!!) and also some gum. i got a tiny nutella, a hello kitty chocolate (meant for m but theyve,,, um.....), a howls moving castle print (probably my fav thing out of everything its so fucking cute and im saving it for when i move out so i can put it up somewhere cute), kinder bueno, a cute pride pin and some socks w naked ppl on them that im so excited to wear (the socks, not the naked ppl).

in the evening my direct family had a lil meetup. everyone, that would be, me, my sister, her boyf, my brother, his girlf, my mom, her boyf, my dad and his girlf, was there! we had coffee and my mom made our fav orange rice thingy !! its like cold rice porridge (sweetened though) with bits of orange. its so good and its a thing we have every christmas. after the meetup my sister and i went to the bar for music quiz. it was my second one ever and it was quite fun. i like hanging out w her but i wish i was able to talk w her more. i wanna seem cool yk but i struggle coming up w things to say. her friends l and l joined (they both have the same name but spelled differently lol). it was just supposed to be us four at first but a bunch more of her friends joined. so now we moved to a bigger table and we were so many ppl and by the end of the night it was, apart from us, e, i, m, m and two ppl who were friends w i whose names i dont know. i was so quiet the entire time so i felt so not cool and swag w them like i wish i did but ya.

e, h and l left on thursday afternoon. i miss them already TT

i was so productive on friday and saturday so im super happy abt having cleared my schedule a bit for now!!! i watched gayo daejejeon and it was lots of fun, even more fun when n was watching at the same time. monsta x slayed so hard i love them so much and i really liked nct 127 and nmixxs stages too! i managed to fit a short walk w doggito during the break.

i got invited to hang out at cs place for a little dinner thingy w her, e, e, i and l in the evening from 20-00. it was lots of fun. i ended up hanging out w i the most and it made me kind of realize i think were,,, friends? (I DONT MEAN THIS IN A LIKE OMG I THINK WERE MORE THAN FRIENDS WAY I MEAN IT IN A IVE ENJOYED HER COMPANY BUT I THINK WERE ACTUALLY LIKE FRIENDS FRIENDS NOW). we sat next to each other at the dining table and when the others were dancing we were in the kitchen and i kept her company while she was cooking. a new inside joke was born between us abt me and our bass teacher joining dancing with the stars and dancing a salsa to you spin me round. i think it started bc i was talking abt how i wanna start learning lets dance by bowie on bass and she thought i was talking abt the show dancing with the stars (which swedish name is lets dance which is kind of weird now that i think abt it). she made this whole plan of how id propose this idea to him and all and we were laughing to the point of crying, it was so funny to us.

c, e and i cooked all three meals, the first one being an agaricus soup and it was so good omg???? i thought i didnt like mushrooms but ig i was wrong oml?? the main course was fries w beetroot and goat cheese and it was so embarrassing to drop the bomb to them that i dont like beetroot nor goat cheese (ive actually never had goat cheese but it scares me and im picky w cheese). the sallad was good though and the fries w the garlic mayo were really good!!

the dessert was waffles. they turned out much better than i expected bc the batter was um,,,,, thick and chunky to say the least. they were also glutenfree so c would be able to eat them. they ended up actually being really delicious. we left quite soon after having the waffles. i (the friend, not me) got picked up, e and l went to ls place and i walked home w c and e who were going to see the firework show that happened to be near my house.

ive been quite,,, unproductive since i got home. im planning to get some stuff done before i go to sleep so i have less to do during the day and get more time to do fun stuff. im currently listening through my 2022 playlist. its the first year im making like a pl of songs ive been obsessed w or songs that i now just associate w certain things (for example i now associate greek god by conan gray w producing bc i made a cover of it for a school project this year). i actually felt like crying when i reached the vkei part of the playlist, i miss the peak of my vkei phase sm.

anyways, good night! happy new year! im hoping to have many more good memories this year and spend it w ppl who i care abt and who do the same for me. im hoping to get into uni and begin my studies in korean language that ive wanted to do for years. im hoping to move out and start a life on my own and find more purposes for staying happy and greatful for everything i have and get to experience. i want to grow as a person and continue learning abt the world. i hope to achieve the things i dream of as of now.

"Easy?!" you repeat incredulously, scoffing at him with a raised brow. "What signifies what that signifies... what?!"

Edward sighs at you lovingly, rolling his eyes playfully as he flips you in his lap so that you're facing each other.

"Shall I repeat the question?"

"Oh, would you, please?" you respond sarcastically, and collapse with laughter in his arms as he pokes and tickles your sides for it.

"What word," he starts, fingers gently hooking under your chin so your gaze meets his, "in the English language, does the following: the first two letters signify a male, the first three letters signify a female, the first four letters signify a great, while the entire world signifies a great woman. What is the word?"

You blink, shaking your head slowly in a daze. "But-"

"Think," he encourages you with an eager smile, pressing a kiss to the corner of your mouth and running his fingers through his hair. "What first two letters signify a male, first of all?"

You frown in concentration, before speaking up again. "Uh... that's 'he,' right?"

"Right!" Edward confirms happily, "and the three for a female?"

"She?"

"No, it- you're doing this on purpose!" he whines, and you snort with laughter at his expression.

"Doing what? That's right!"

"Yes, but the first two letters are 'he.' So it must be...? H-e..."

"Her?" you conclude slowly, and the smile's back as he nods.

"There we go! Now, four signify a great, so if the first three letters are 'her,' what could the fourth be?"

"A great?" You nibble at your lip in thought; Eddie running his hands up and down your back and resting his head on your shoulder not helping you focus at all. Your eyes widen a fraction as you think of the answer, but then you smirk as you decide against giving it, returning his hug.

"Hers?"

Edward's head immediately lifts from your shoulder, a confused and surprised look on his face. "What? No!"

You grin, carrying on in mock cluelessness. "Herb?"

"How is a herb a great?!"

You can't stop the laughter now, and breathlessly flop onto his chest, while Edward watches you with an amused and adoring gaze.

"Silly thing," he condescends fondly, kissing the crown of your head and leaning back in his seat, with you snugly trapped in his hold. "I suppose you'll just have to stay here for a few hours more, darling..."

"Okay, okay," you give in with a smile, "it's 'hero,' isn't it?"

"Of course it is," Edward answers with helpless laughter, resting his forehead against yours. "You're my clever baby, so don't play with me, show me!"

"Is that the answer, then? Hero?"

"Not quite," Eddie continues, "because the whole word signifies a great woman. What is the word?"

"Is it... me? Because that's not how you spell my name, Eddie."

Edward bursts out laughing, pulling you against him and squeezing you suffocatingly. "You'll never escape if you don't give me the answer, my love!"

"Hero.... oh! Heroine!"

"Ding ding ding!" Eddie exclaims giddily, and you laugh at him. "I told you that you could do it! See, we're so perfect for each other... we could outsmart any Gotham scum."

You can't reply as he quickly locks his lips with yours, his embrace softening ever so slightly as Edward hugs you while moving his lips slowly against yours, small whimpers escaping his throat in satisfaction. As usual, you're both breathless when you part, and Edward buries his nose into the crook of your neck as you smile and play with tufts of his brown locks.

"Am I free yet?"

Eddie giggles blissfully against your skin, leaving a few sweet kisses against your neck before looking back up at you.

"No, angel, not yet! You've only answered one out of five!"

"Five?!"

"I come from a mine and get surrounded by wood always. Everyone uses me. What am I?"

You stare at him in shock, and Edward straightens up to return to hugging you impossibly close, nuzzling against your face.

"Well, this is going nowhere for me."

"Do you give up, then?"

"Yeah," you breathe with a half-smile and roll your eyes, and Edwards grins in triumph, attacking your face with kisses as your body becomes trapped under his.

we are believers in the “the whole bible” ; no division between old and new testament ( which they’ll only ever refer to it as old and new testament ). variants iirc are like biblical truth, going back to how they believed back in the first century, etc. anything that combines the old and new testament as One Whole Truth. “I only believe in what the torah says” which means a lot of commentary by the sages, rabbinical literature, and more are just thrown out bc it’s not ‘what gd put down on the mountain’

constantly using hebrew words where they shouldn’t be. example is they called the church ‘shul’ and had ‘oneg’ and these words were just thrown around. only one or two people actually spoke hebrew or knew how to use it in context. anything that takes hebrew out of judaism.

agreeing with others about the flock imagery ... anything that relates to you being lost in the world / needing to be gathered by a shepherd / you are lost but now you are found and usually it’s like the TRUTH has been revealed to you such as you follow the commandments, you keep the sabbath, etc etc 

the congregations i went to rejected a lot of christian imagery like the nativity scene, crosses (occasionally), anything that was overtly christian was looked at as being ... wrong? or like ... christians were in the dark about one thing except jesus. jews had it right up to a Point. so i would say that’s a toss up. 50/50 chance

Normally I try to ignore stuff said from ex l***ies bc it's dumb and why bother but when I read this and saw how W.T.F. it was I felt like explaining why their so wrong. This comment was slightly long so I cut it into different ss based on topic change.

SS part one:

Typically when one starts with "I started thinking logically" you know this is going to be an eye roller.

Do they not understand what closeting is just bc someone said their straight doesn't mean their straight. There are many male artist [ESPECIALLY ex boybanders] from the past who during their prime were closested only to later come out like L**ce B*ss, G**rge M**hael and E**on J*hn. It's been proven many times how the music industry is run by very homophobic people.

Through in terms of louis when did louis ever even say he's straight besides a tweet on twitter that just made him look homophobic and was written during a time period his managment ran his acc quite often and made enough screw ups to make it clear it wasn't always louis tweeting. Proof of their screw ups is ~ someone ~ tweeting on louis acc about how he loves eleanor but liam tweeted louis is asleep only a few minutes prior. If louis was asleep who tweeted that humm 🤔

On top of that all the love/relationship songs louis wrote or helped write are the furthest thing from being about a straight relationship.

Examples:

End of the day talking about how you love who you love and it's totally ok.

Alive about him not understanding what's wrong with him & his mother thinking he needs therapy & his doctor telling him it's alright [change women to man the meaning is clear.]

Strong being about how his lover makes him strong and it's totally ok what's wrong with that. Plus the whole first versue being about H&L matching tattoos so can he make it any more obvious?

Ready to run about wanting to be free & running away with his lover. Their never going to look back at the city just him and his lover finally free.

SS part two:

Again when did he even say he was straight besides that one tweet and if someone is that against or upset that others think their not straight they are just homophobic. What is so wrong with someone thinking your not straight?

Moving on I laughed at the denied larry part

Harry never said he was unlabeled he said he wasn't going to tell them his label. There's a difference between being unlabeled and not telling a [just looking for gossip interviewer] what your label is. You really think he's just going to randomly come out say yeah i've been fake dating all these women for years blah blah blah. Yeah no he usually just avoids answering sexuality questions bc he doesn't want to lie and say he's straight but obviously can't come out. Worth noting any former closeted male singers who use to answer sexuality questions the same way harry does eventually came out as gay so do with that what you will.

First part of that SS is technically correct though medicine is VERY not straight BUT it doesn"t give into men and women vibes bc it talks about how he's surrounded by men and women but he's specifically doing things with a guy and he's very much ok with it. The songs about giving you know what ..... just watch any live performance of Medicine and see how he treats the mic stand not hard to put together the meaning.

SS part four:

Umm yeah ALL of them are stunts bc that's what happens when your closeted let alone in a closeted gay relationship with someone else in your VERY WORLDWIDE FAMOUS boyband with a lot of young fans the media and their label assumed wanted to date them. How could you think someone is closeted into men and dating this one specific man and NOT believe ALL his public relationships are fake? He didn't fake date some and actually date others that makes no sense unless he was a toxic cheating boyfriend towards louis. Of course we say their ALL fake! [There's so much proof of it to bc they all follow the same pattern its a copy of a copy]

The sharing clothes portion IS a big deal. If it was one or two times they shared some clothes while 1D was on tour you could say it's no big deal and it was a coincidence BUT 30+ times spanning over 10 years including AFTER 1D tours were over, AFTER we were told they no longer lived together, AFTER it would seem they haven't really seen each other since 1D and could only be sharing clothes if they lived together/saw each other often is NOT a coincidence and would only happen if their a couple. To top it off them purchasing a runway outfit and then each being seen wearing half of said runway outfit OR one wearing the article of clothing UNWASHED after the first one wore it is not something just friends do.

The tattoo portion is ALSO a huge deal. Again one or two could be a coincidence but after that it is not. Them having 10+ matching romantic tattoos of things that go together and are common couple tattoos like a rose and dagger or a ship and a compass is NOT a coincidence and never will be [here are some of their tattoos.] Oops and I was literally the first words they said to each other and the butterfly and "It is what it is" was two parts of one tattoo design from a famous tattoo artist.

To top it off louis using fanart that matches Harry's tattoos for his spotify covers last year definitely made it more obvious their tattoos were for each other.

About the touching touching alone maybe not a big deal but add that with...

one staring at the other with love and adoration in his eyes, one freaking out and checking THAT area when the others shirt flys open, one biting his lip while creepily staring at the other, one staring directly at the others lips when they talk in interviews, both being so caught up with each other during interviews that they didn't even realize one of them was asked a question, one leaning in to kiss the other wishing the camera was off so he could actually kiss him, one smirking/winking at the other making the other blush, one whispering "things" to the other then walking away smirking causing the other to look completely shocked AND one looking down at THAT area then looking up at the other to get his reaction on stage in front of fans clearly not giving two fucks who saw it IS a big deal.

Although there was a ‘Translate to Korean’ option readily available with just a tap of his thumb, you knew Namjoon never missed an opportunity to challenge himself to be able to fully comprehend what a native English speaker was trying to say.

You nearly snorted at the tweet’s content, smiling as you read it out loud.

“The Dis-ease bridge just saved my life. Seriously, this song slaps.”

Glancing at Namjoon, he raised his eyebrows, eagerly waiting for you to translate and explain what that could equate to in Korean.

“It’s definitely a good thing, Joon. They love it.”

At your interpretation, Namjoon grinned, nodding to himself as he pulled his phone back in front of his face to scroll through more reaction tweets to the new album release.

“What the hell is that?”

You picked your head up from your sketchbook when you heard Seokjin whine from beside you, eyebrows knitting together at his distressed tone. Taking a glance over at his laptop screen, you found his mouse bouncing from letter to letter on one of his weekly english lessons.

“What is that, like 15 letters? How do you even use that in a sentence?” He went on, obviously flustered by the word on the screen.

Pulchritudinous.

You placed your hand over his to stop his panicked counting of the letters, causing him to look over at you with a sigh as he frowned.

You nearly giggled at his reaction, but the genuine fear in his eyes made you stifle it as you soothingly held his hands in yours. 

“It’s just an over complicated way of saying beautiful. I don’t know why they’re teaching you that, nobody ever uses it.” You assured him, his eyes going down in size a bit at your words before he nodded.

Watching as a smirk tilted his lips, you raised your brows at the sudden expression.

“What?”

“Well like, I could say I’m...that?” He said, eyebrows raised cockily as he gestured to the long word stretched across the screen.

“Well it’s actually not used like,” you paused, giving in with a shrug as you grinned back at him.

“Sure, love.”

yoongi:

“Why did I skip English class all the time?” Yoongi sighed, pinching his bottom lip between his fingers as he plucked at the skin in frustration.

“Because you were trying to be a rebel.” You answered without looking up from your phone, the man obviously not liking your answer as he reached over to where you were laying beside him to pinch at your hip.

Yelping, you scooted across the mattress to get away from his hand, whining his name with a scoff before looking over at his notepad.

“What are you doing, anyway?” You asked, leaning on your palm as you scanned the rows of scribbled English letters written on the page.

“I’m trying to get better at writing.” He admitted shyly, a small grin on his face to match the fond one on your own. 

“Aw,” you pouted, Yoongi raising his eyebrows at your tone, “but I like your chicken scratch.”

“You’re such a brat.” He chuckled, adjusting the velcro on his brace with a grunt.

Since Yoongi’s shoulder surgery took away obvious straining activities like dancing and performing, he’d turned to studying English from the comfort of your bed during his recovery as one of the only safe activities he could partake in for a while.

It was now one of his favorite past times, learning new words and phrases he could potentially use in the future. It worked for you both because it took his mind off the pain and kept him motivated, and since you could speak both his and your language, you could help him out whenever he got stuck on something.

Usually he did lessons verbally on his phone, but it seemed today he had taken the old fashioned route.

“Your handwriting really isn’t bad, Yoongs.” You observed, the carefully placed tails at the end of each ‘a’ making you smile out of fondness for the man.

“My man has the prettiest handwriting.” You cooed, pushing a strand of his stark black hair out of his eyes as he blushed down at his notebook.

“Stop that.”

hoseok:

“Hey, babe?” Hoseok called for you, listening to your footsteps growing closer before you popped your head into the kitchen doorway.

“Yeah?”

“I’m having a little trouble.” He gestured to his open laptop on the counter, you recognizing it as an assignment from his English course.

“What happened?”

“Pronouns. Pronouns happened.” He pouted, his disdain for the new chapter quite obvious as he stared down his computer screen.

“What about them?” You asked, stepping closer to the man sitting at the kitchen island and placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

“I need to make ten sentences using proper pronouns and I feel like I’m doing it all wrong.” He explained, causing you to hum as you looked over his sentences.

“These look great, Hobi.” You smiled as you glanced over the first three he’d written, flawlessly executed on the document.

“Can you help me with the next one?” He wondered, you nodding your head as you took a seat on the stool next to his.

“What do you want the next one to say?” You asked, watching as he glanced off to the side in thought, slightly squinting his eyes at the tile floor beneath the sink.

“My house is next to,” He spoke in English, pausing as he searched his brain for what pronoun to put next.

“Theys?” He answered as more of a question, then shaking his head as he switched back to Korean, “wait, no.” He sighed, placing his chin in his hand in thought before glancing over to you.

“I know it’s wrong, I just don’t know what the right answer is instead.” He explained, you shooting him a loving smile as you pushed the dark raven hair off his forehead and pressed a kiss to the newly revealed skin.

“I’ll help you, Sunshine. No worries.”

jimin:

Flopping onto the bed, you let your tired body fall on top of Jimin’s hoodie clad chest, his arm encircling your body as he mumbled a soft greeting to you.

“Hm, what are you learning about today?” You nuzzled into his chest, peering at his phone propped up on his thigh.

“Animals. Birds, mostly.” He answered, briefly turning from the screen to press a kiss to your head before focusing back on the row of English words matched with pictures of popular birds glowing from the device.

The first was a robin, the next a blue jay, and then a dove.

You listened as the virtual instructor prompted Jimin to repeat after her, spelling out the letters before stating the whole word. You smiled as your boyfriend followed instruction, pronouncing the words the best he could after the microphone chimed for him to do so.

“D-o-v-e. Dove.”

“Dove.” He repeated, smiling to himself as the app announced he got the point with a little heart.

“That’s cute.” He went back to his native language, you humming in confusion as you lifted your head up off his chest to look at him.

“The heart?” You asked, reaching up to twist a stray strand of hair out of his eye as he shook his head.

“Dove.” He said again, making you tilt your head, not knowing what he meant.

“It sounds like ‘love.’” He connected the two English words, you smiling fondly at him in response before scooting up the bed to kiss the tip of his button nose.

“You’re so cute.”

taehyung:

Three knocks at the door announced someone’s arrival to your bedroom, causing your head to lift from the novel you’d been so immersed in. Taehyung was home, but you’d wanted to give him space because you knew he needed to work on lyrics for his mixtape in order to submit them on time. 

“Hey,” he poked his head in with a small smile, “can you help me with something?” He asked sheepishly, stepping further into the room when you nodded.

“Of course. What is it?” You set your book down, marking your place before closing it to pay full attention to your boyfriend.

“Well, I’m trying to write this verse in English and,” he trailed off with a shrug, “you know.” He finished, you nodding in response with a gesture for him to come sit next to you.

He eagerly walked over to you with his notebook in hand, lowering himself to the mattress before rolling his way over to where you were leaning against the headboard.

Honestly, Taehyung’s English wasn’t bad at all. He was insecure about it, but you’d never really understood what the reason for that feeling was. His vocabulary was more than decent, his comprehension was good, and his pronunciation was great for having such a thick accent.

But there were many times where Taehyung came to you for guidance, as you were a native English speaker yourself.

And so, as he rested his head on your shoulder confiding in you about everything he wanted to say and how he wanted to say it, you patiently took him through what would work and rhyme best, smiling as he hummed the melody to himself to see if the phrases would work in his creation.

jungkook:

“Baby, can you read it to me again before we go on? Just one more time.”

You glanced over at your boyfriend in his makeup chair, several employees bustling around the man as they attempted to get him ready to go on stage while they had him seated.

With his arm extended backward to where you stood behind his leather chair, he offered his phone to you while shooting you a grin through the reflection in the mirror.

Taking the device from his hand, you opened it to the notes app where he’d written what he wanted to say in his statement on stage in just a few minutes.

You were in London tonight, which meant that all of the boys had been rehearsing their English so that they could communicate easier with their audience.

Jungkook, ever the over-achiever, was determined to do the toughest English tongue twister he could possibly find. Not only that, but in a British accent for his British ARMY’s.

“Betty bought a bit of better butter to make her bitter butter better.” You read from the phone, barely able to read the sentence yourself before you glanced up at Jungkook through the mirror again.

You watched your boyfriend nod as his brain took in the words you’d just said, taking a deep inhale before he began speaking the phrase back to you.

You gawked as the man effortlessly repeated after you, a few of the makeup artists stopping as well as Jungkook raised his eyebrows back at you.

“Was that okay?”

Vampire Atem/Yami Alphabet Headcanons

Found this list of vamp-themes headcanons by @an-annyeoing-writer and I knew I had to do them for our favorite king-turned-spirit!

For those of you who read my Spells of Defiance series, these headcanons can be taken as 100% canon to that AU <3

A - Accident - would they turn someone to save their life?

Oof, already starting with a hard one. So, Atem is one of those vampires who hates his existence, he believes it’s a curse. However, he does still love and care for people deeply, and he knows that for many, life is sacred even if it’s a cursed life. I think in a moment of weakness, especially in his earlier years as a vampire, he might turn someone just because he’s desperate not to lose them, only to regret his decision later, especially if that someone is like him and hates what they’ve become. We all make mistakes, right?

B - Bite - how do they bite? Sensually, aggressively? Do they make it hurt or try to be gentle?

Atem is extremely gentle when he feeds off of people, always careful not to bite too deep or tear the skin more than needed, he even holds you and tries to soothe you with gentle strokes of his hands. Now, whether he tries to make it “sensual” or at all sexual...that’s a complicated topic. While Atem is almost always disgusted with himself when/while he feeds, he does recognize that there is a level of intimacy and even romance that can be connected with drinking blood, so sometimes he can be persuaded to make it a more sensual thing if you’re his lover. 

C - Control - do they take advantage of their powers?

That depends on who’s in the equation. I can see Atem using his new powers in order to bring justice to those he sees as wrong doers (like his season 0/early manga-self) as a way to make his vampire abilities useful, so from that angle he would “take advantage” of his powers. He might even get some small gratification in using his strength and speed to hunt down evil people, them cowering in fear is retribution for their wrong-doings, but even that’s not too over the top. Other than that, no, he doesn’t really use his powers for advantages over others.

D - Dangerous - how scary they can get? How bad things can they do? What’s their ethics?

So, while Atem does have a very strong moral code, Atem also has a temper, and said temper might be harder to control when he’s a vampire. Even when he’s not growling in anger, he can have this cold glare that could make bikers squeamish. There are moments, especially when he was a younger vampire, where he loses his temper and can get pretty scary. If you’re his loved one don’t worry too much, he would never lose control enough to hurt you, even though his yelling (and maybe throwing a thing or two) is pretty scary on it’s own. If you’re someone he sees a vermin though watch out, when he gets scary you’re probably going to end up dead or wishing you were dead.

E - Exchange - do they opt for blood bags or animal blood, if possible?

He opts for animal blood as often as he can. Sometimes he’ll hunt said animals himself but even that is a little too violent for his liking (Atem is a softie okay?!) so if he can go to a local butcher and get animal blood from them he’ll do it that way. He’s not fond of blood bags because A) they’re harder to acquire and B) having human blood in a cold plastic bag just makes him long for warm human blood and skin under his teeth more. Sure animal blood isn’t as sustaining for him, but Atem spent decades (maybe even centuries) figuring out how much animal blood he needs to consume in order to keep his blood lust under control so he’ll choose that over harming an innocent human.

Also, side note, if you live with him I hope you don’t have a sensitive sense of smell, because he heats up the blood on the stove to make it taste better and it can make the house stinky lol

F - First bite - on what occasion would they bite you for the first time?

Oooh that’s a good one. Like I said Atem has a very complicated relationship with feeding from his loved ones, especially his s/o, and he’s never going to ask you for your blood. So I’d say that not only would you have to offer your blood to him, but he would have to be out of other feeding options at the time. He knows that once he reaches a certain point of hunger he loses control and might kill you in a hunger-induced blood rage, so if drinking from you now, before he gets to that point, prevents that danger, he’d be willing to. Like I said above, Atem would be very gentle with you on that occasion, holding you close and stroking the skin around the bite mark to soothe any pain, and when he’s done he’d kiss the wound and the sore skin around it as amends.

The only other “first bite” scenario I can think of is if you spend months convincing him that you don’t mind (or even like) the occasional bite and finally convince him to drink your blood during an intimate moment, and again he’s very gentle and mindful of not hurting you.

G - Growl - are they more on the “civilized” side or do they enjoy hunting their prey down?

A bit of both, I guess? Since he tries not to drink from humans he’s more civilized in that way, but like I said before he does “hunt” evil people like an avenging dark angel, which he may get some small form of enjoyment from, so... 

H - Hate - how do they feel about their kind? About themselves?

It’s honestly pretty depressing how much self-loathing Atem harbors. He genuinely thinks he’s an abomination. It doesn’t help that in all his centuries of living, he’s met very few vampires who’re “good” like him. He’s also someone who’s on a high horse and if he met a vamp who didn’t kill human’s but also wasn’t self loathing like him, he’d look down on said vampire. I’m warning you now if you fall in love with him, his self-hatred is very upsetting and can be hard to deal with.

I - Intimacy - how fast would they let you close to them? Would they want to share with you what they are?

Surprisingly, I say it’s not that hard. See, even though Atem thinks he’s a monster and tries his best to stay away from people, he also craves companionship and love. Sure, he’s spent several chunks of his immortal life isolating himself in remote woods and tall mountains for decades at a time, but he always returns to humanity at some point. So if you show that you want to be close to him he’ll try to warn you or even scare you away a bit, but it won’t take too long to let you in. And yes, he’d share what he is with you if you started to get close to him, not only as a means to scare you away “before he can hurt you” but also so you know what you’re getting into by being near him.

J - Joke - would they do pranks on other people with the use of their powers?

Sometimes, yes. If he’s close to you, he’ll start to get comfortable and like teasing you, so he’ll do minor things like sneak up behind you soundlessly and jump scare you, or zoom past you to get to something before you and play keep-away. Also, he doesn’t do this one intentionally, but sometimes he’ll be sitting in a dark room, and when you walk in you just suddenly hear this voice calling out to you in the darkness, scaring the crap outta you lol

K - Key - what’s the way of making them open up to you?

Honestly just...continue to shove your friendship in his face. Like I said under “intimacy” he still craves relationships and companionship despite how much he fears hurting people. He may try to push you away at first but if you just continue to hang around him he’ll eventually stop trying to scare you away and start opening up to you little by little.

L - Life - do they wish they were human?

Absolutely. I can see Atem, ever the fixer of problems, spending the first few hundred years searching for a cure for his “condition” not just for himself but for others who view vampires the same way. He often thinks about what his life would have been if he hadn’t been turned, and daydreams about the possibility of becoming human again. 

M - Murder - would they kill someone while feeding? Have they ever done so?

Atem has killed while feeding, yes, but not voluntarily. I’m going with the general lore that vampires, when starved too long, can't control their bloodlust and Atem has killed while in that state. When he wakes with a limp, lifeless body in his arms, he’s a devastated wreck. Hurting innocent people is literally his living nightmare and the idea that his bloodlust can turn him into an animal sickens him. He would spend decades learning how much blood he needs to consume and how often, in order to keep that bloodlust from taking control.

N - Nature - do they justify their doings? Do they consider them natural?

Atem, the self-loathing martyr of a fanged prince, considering his bloodlust natural? LMAOOOO No. No he doesn’t, nor does he ever justify his actions. In fact, he uses the terrible things he’s done to justify why he shouldn’t be loved or even alive.

O - Odd - do they have any specific hobbies or habits?

Our gentle dark prince still loves games and puzzles, I think he’d like modern brain teasers that keep his mind sharp and un-ironically loves the puzzle games printed on the back of sunday newspapers, even though they aren’t hard (for him anyway). If you got close to him and showed him games he never got to play bc they’re multiplayers he’d honestly love you. He’d win most of the time, let's be honest, especially things like Clue, but his expression is just so cute and excited when you play his favorites that you’d lose 1000 times over just to see it.

P - Pain - are they sadistic? Do they enjoy what they do?

Nope. I think you all have the idea by now but Atem is one of the most self-loathing and gentle vampires you’d meet....or at least he’s gentle with you. Other vampires who hurt people for fun? Okay, I can see him being ever so slightly sadistic when dealing with creatures like that, he has no mercy for vampires who’ve embraced their monstrous curse, best you run the other way when he punishes them, else you may actually get a little frightened of him...

R - Roles - do they enjoy pretending to be normal people? How do they feel about leaving their life behind to start a new one?

I wouldn’t say that Atem pretends to be normal, in fact, the only part of his vampirism that he embraces is being an “other”, or rather, the aesthetic of being odd, something that most humans feel uneasy when confronted with. He’d see this as a good tool to keep people he may hurt away from him. He’s no stranger to stalking graveyards/cemeteries, creeping in the shadows in a way that has others scurrying past if they happen to spot him, basically anything that makes him seem creepy and makes others keep their distance. Ultimately it hurts him since he’s unexplainably lonely, but it hurts more to know he may hurt the humans he comes across. On the same note, leaving behind one life for another to avoid suspicion is a double-edged sword for him, while it reminds him how terribly lonely existence is, it’s good to keep those who might’ve grown close to him safe.

S - Scars - do they leave marks or try to make the wounds small and invisible?

If Atem feeds from someone voluntarily (as in, not in an animalistic state), he’ll do everything he can to not leave lasting marks. Leaving marks means more pain and we all know how much he hates causing pain to others. 

T - Turned - how were they turned?

In my fic, Marik turned Atem as a form of revenge, but otherwise, I could honestly see Atem being turned by any YGO villain. I say villain because him being cursed with this life by a villain (like Bakura for example, or maybe another minion of Zorc) kind of goes along with the original story’s need to punish Atem and cast him into darkness for things that ultimately weren’t his fault.

U - Universe - what’s their biggest wish that they can’t achieve as immortals?

Mostly just...being close to people without constantly worrying that he’ll hurt or kill them. I can also see Atem yeaning for the simple pleasure of growing old and dying with one's family. If he fell in love he would crave the ability to just settle down and grow old together. Hell, he’s even one of those morbid romantics who thinks couples dying within days of each other is sweet and wishes he could do that when he loses his lover to old age.

V - Vampire - would they turn you?

Man again with the hard ones! Oof, okay, so...If you asked Atem to turn you, he’d say no, reciting his monologue about how vampires are cursed vermin who shouldn’t even exist, even if you retained your humanity after the turn, he knows the deep reaches of this curse and what it will make you do, and he hates the idea of you going through what he has.

...However, much like in the very first headcanon on this list...Atem makes mistakes and has his weak moments. If your life ended unexpectedly, of you were taken from him suddenly, like attacked or in some fatal accident, he may turn you in a moment of weakness; a desperate need to cling to you taking over his better judgment. He’d hate himself after and the only way he’d ever feel okay with it, is if time proved that you retained your humanity. He would teach you how to control your blood lust so you don’t have to go through half the things he has, and only then would he be okay with what he did to you in his moment of weakness.

W - War - would they engage in fighting their own kind for the humanity’s sake?

Yes! No one even has to ask him, Atem basically thinks the only good thing he can do with his powers is to rid the world of other vampires. He’s basically an avenging angel who’ll hunt down any vampire who threatens a human.

Y - Yandere - would they become dangerous to you (their lover)?

For the most part, I’d say no. Atem is self-aware and emotionally intelligent enough to tell if he ever starts crossing lines into “unhealthy” territory, and if that ever happened, he’d literally run away. He would leave you in order to protect you, no matter how much it hurt. There may be one (literally ONE) incident where he does something to you that crosses the line, but he’d be instantly horrified and remove himself from your life, moving to the other side of the world with no means to follow him, if it meant protecting you from himself. Now the chances of this happening in the first place? Hard to say. I really don’t think Atem is unhinged or even violent enough for it to be likely, but, an argument could be made that after everything he’s gone through, Atem may start seeing you and his love for you in an obsessives, unhealthy way. Again though, even if this did happen he would realize it and run away before it can go too far.

Z - Zombie - are they on their way to losing sanity?

I don’t think so. Atem is as strong (mentally/emotionally) as they come. Maybe eventually, after millennia and millennia of constantly losing loved ones and dealing the the monster he’s become he would start losing his sanity, but that would take a long, long time.

General Fluff Headcanons

Game: Fictif

Character: Felix Iskander Escellun

Most definitely craves physical contact

But its that kind of thing where he thinks the more he desires it and stares at you, the more of a chance the universe will tell you to walk over and hug him

It takes you a while until you turn your head, bc you feel like someone is burning holes into your head :))

But all you see is felix flipping the page of his book

Felix: "is something wrong?"

You: "do you... need something?"

Felix: "pardon? no, i dont need anything."

But you know better

He's blushing, embarrassed that you caught him or nearly did

And you can see it as he adjusts his glasses, clearing his throat

Anyway, you do hold his hand, hug and kiss him if he feels comfortable

You hold his hand through portals and in market, bc he doesnt want to be separated from you

Kissing him in public is fORBiddEN bc he'll get all flustered and not be able to function right, resulting in glaring your way and pouting

Hugging him is okay, as long as you dont see his face, so youre usually hugging from behind or digging your face into his shoulder

Speaking if which, it takes a while for him to get used to it all

The first time you grabbed his hand out of the blue, he jolted and squeezed your hand really hard, making you pull away

He apologised over and over again as anisa looked over your hand to check for any injuries (none)

Anisa only did that bc of how much felix was overreacting

He felt so bad that he avoided you for some time

After that, you walked up to him and held his hand again, just casually and this time he didnt freak out, just staring at you

Calls you darling or dear, bc he's old timey like that

But that only happens every once in a while

He'll be distracted or so relaxed that he doesn't notice, but everyone else does

First time, went like

Felix: "love, are you finished with my spellbook?"

You: "i... uh..."

Anisa: "what did you say, felix?"

Felix: "hm? I asked about the spellbook y/n borrowed from me."

Sage: "oh my goodness, you're so bold, felix. i supposed youre different behind closed doors, huh?"

He's so confused??

And you just hand him the book and dont talk about it until after dinner

He's blushing wildly before announcing his return to bed and hiding under the covers

His sarcasm is limited to sage and anisa, and only sometimes you

Bc he usually uses his sarcasm to show how annoyed he was

But with you, its more or a joking matter

Sage gets sad bc you get some privileges over him :((

You two do get up to some mischief tho

Like you both go ahead and make felix blush owo

But sage once convinced you to steal felix's giant coat, and you two ran around the building just playing around

Anisa and felix found you two on top of on of the highest balconies, trying to see if sage's spell for making objects levitate would work on just felix's jacket

Felix: "what do you think you two are doing???"

You, standing on top of the railing as Sage is about to push you off with only Felix's coat above your head like a blanket: "nothing"

Felix then cast a spell where sage becomes invisible to you and you cohldnt hear him at all

Anisa told felix to rake the spell away since sage was weeping in the corner

Sleepy felix :(((

He's at his desk and doing stuff when he falls asleep

You either drag him to bed or pull up a chair to sleep next to him

Although he is a night owl, he goes three days without sleeping and passes out for nine hours

Felix likes to sit next to you at dinner

Sometimes you use your magic to prank or tease felix

But it really never works since he's taught you all you know

He'll be looking for his spellbook and then sigh,, looking your way and just raising a brow

Felix: "drop it this instant, my darling."

You: "fiiiiiine..."

The book drops from the ceiling, right into his palm

Another thing

Felix feels the need to return the gestures

So he will kiss you on your forehead when you get giddy for completing your spell just right

And then look away hastily

Or he'll grab your hand and pull you away when youre about to bump into something

And he just wont let go

Sleeps next to you and once he knows youre asleep for sure, he kisses your palm or kisses your cheek

There are times when he doesnt know what to do

Like when youre upset

Maybe you felt extra sad this morning, or you were feeling homesick, or just not that great at all

Felix does not know how to deal with other people's emotions

The best you'll get is

Felix: "are you feeling well, my dear?"

You: "oh, yeah. i'm fine, felix."

Felix: "alright."

And he's screaming inside bc he cant ask you again now, he's embarrassed to

He knows for sure that something is dead wrong when you go to bed

Maybe your grip on him is too loose, or youre not holding him at all

And he's just thinking about what he can do

Sometimes you start crying and felix cant take it anymore

He turns around and digs his face into your shoulder, arms around your torso and pulling you close

He's holding you so tight that he thinks you'll break if he lets go

You slowly hug him back, crying into his hair

Felix: "... i dont know of what has happened, but you are free to tell me whatever it is that is bothering you, my darling. i... i can help, in some way..."

You: "thanks, felix. i appreciate it."

The most common thing to happen between you two is probably for felix to brush against you a lot

He's trying not to be suspicious so you dont see it, but its when he doesnt watch where he's going that he messed up

Felix, hitting his hip on the corner of the table in an attempt to step closer to you: "my lord, oh my goodness..."

You: "felix, you can just ask me to stand next to you."

Felix: "... i dont know what youre talking about."

Out of everyone in the group, he probably trusts anisa to take care of you the best when he's away

Sage and you almost always get into trouble and he can not handle the energy you two bring out to open

Anisa keeps you contained and helps felix feel at ease bc she can definitely beat a bitch or two

Felix likes having your head on his lap when he's reading

Its one of the only ways you can be close together like this once someone is busy

He's running fingers through your hair and up and down your arm, other hand holding his book as he reads through it

Felix: "are you already asleep, my darling?"

When you don't respond

Felix: "I love you..."

okay so i’ve written several posts before about why andrew is autistic. his moral code, the roundabout way he communicates, his body language, his stimulation-seeking behavior, his strict adherence to transactional deals, the emphasis on honesty, and a dozen other details. at this point i just take andrew being autistic as fact, not just an interpretation

h o w e v e r  i also hc that andrew is dyslexic, which is also a neurodiverse condition

similarly, i’ve seen more than one person interpret kevin as autistic, and i absolutely agree that it fits. not just the hyperfocus on exy but mostly the way he communicates. he’s very indirect, especially in his affection but very direct with his opinions. he tries to be helpful in a material way to the people he cares about, even if he comes off as negative. he wants the people he cares about to be safe and successful so he pushes them to work hard and reminds them in measurable ways how to stay healthy. he doesn’t factor in a lot of room for emotions, so instead he focuses on quantifiable things that he can improve. i personally act very similarly. approaching someone emotionally is hard for me, so when the people i care about have problems all i can think to do is try offering solutions, check up on their well-being, etc. practicality instead of conventional sentiment is extremely common with asd

so now let’s talk about neil. i had to think on this one for a WHILE but ultimately came to the conclusion that neil is adhd, probably hyperactive type. 

like obviously neil is high energy. i would say he probably does the most exercise of anyone on the team. morning run, morning practice, afternoon practice, night practice with kevin and andrew, plus he doesn’t have a car so he runs to class (on a BIG ass campus), and goes for an extra run when he feels stressed. that’s... insane, honestly.

neil reminds me SO MUCH of this post that goes:

“Was just informed by my mom that I do in fact have ADHD and the reason I thought I didn’t was because ever since I was seven whenever I got super energetic my mom would have me go chop wood so now when I’m feeling The ADHD I go chop wood”

(phenomenal post) and that’s neil to a t. tell me this isn’t exactly how neil handles his problems and also exactly what mary would have had to do to keep her unmedicated and very energetic son focused on the task of staying alive

neil also definitely has that ADHD on/off switch with his interest. the obvious being exy which is like the definition of a hyperfixation, but you can see it in other things: the way he runs totally hot or totally cold with people, his complete disinterest in his schoolwork, the way he can’t seem to sit still long enough to follow movies. but then there’s also the hyperfocus. doing the same drill for hours on end. watching exy game after exy game. staring at andrew until time falls away

what’s more, neil on many occasions shows racing thoughts, both in an anxiety way (and anxiety often goes hand-and-hand with adhd) but also as a way to quickly and accurately take in details about people to build a character profile of them. this is what allows him to connect with the foxes, how he manages to get through andrew’s puzzles, and even how he knows what to say in order to knock riko down a peg. his brain just works so fast and it takes in a lot of very specific details and disparate information to make connections.

but also like,, neil has a HUGE problem with time blindness. like the instant he didn’t have his mother around to manage and direct him anymore he lost all sense of time. he stayed in Millport for a YEAR. and what did he keep telling himself during that time? basically “i really need to move on, but not just yet.” for a YEAR! then he gets to palmetto and he’s like “i’ll cut and run in a month or two” then he doesn’t “i’ll be gone by halloween” wrong again “i’ll leave by the raven’s game” nope. like,, the boy just has NO sense of time and he can’t seem to make himself DO anything outside of an externally enforced schedule. and even then,,, HE HAD 48 FUCKING DAYS TO FIGURE OUT SOMETHING TO DO TO NOT GET MURDERED! 48 WHOLE DAYS. he didn’t make a plan, he didn’t write down any letters with goodbyes, he didn’t GO TO THE FBI LIKE HE’D INTENDED TO THE WHOLE TIME! nah he just made out with andrew and when he finally got to zero he was just like “ah shit, that was fast. oh well guess i’ll die” and that’s time blindness, babey!

let’s move on to nicky. 

now i think it would be really easy to say nicky is just adhd because he’s high energy and forgetful but tbh,, i don’t think that’s all of it. like if you really look at nicky’s character and especially at his problems, he has asd problems just as much as he has adhd problems.

so nicky is dual diagnosis asd and adhd. also nicky reminds me a lot of a girl i used to know who was autistic/adhd

so, adhd:

very generally speaking, ppl with adhd will struggle with sitting still, listening to and following instructions, planning/organization, following a schedule, and some social boundaries like “appropriate” times and topics of conversation

i would say you see hints of this with nicky. he’s definitely a rambunctious personality, constantly on the move, constantly stimulation seeking. he’s very tactile. he likes to dance, he likes to party, he complains about it but he’s an elite-level athlete. he’s also decidedly very chatty, and doesn’t seem to really pay attention to what he’s saying. he distracts himself and the people around him have to keep him on track. he has some trouble with boundaries. he’s a little all over the place. he’s almost a bit of an adhd stereotype

also one thing i find interesting is that when neil sees him in the library doing work neil is surprised to see he’s capable of that, especially bc when we see the upperclassmen doing work they generally do it in their dorms or on the bus and/or with other people around. that hyper-social nicky would be alone in a quiet place is weird. but this is like the most common tip for dealing with adhd. don’t do it in a familiar space. have a designated space and time to do work. limit distractions. just a lil detail

so now, asd:

in all honesty, most of nicky’s actual problems in the narrative could be viewed as stemming from asd symptoms. his number one issue being that he has a lot of trouble with nonverbal cues (and tbh, verbal ones too). the twins are mostly quiet. andrew especially (when he’s sober) communicates primarily nonverbally, and nicky seems to have a lot of trouble with this. despite knowing them for the longest on the team, nicky honestly seems to have the least insight into the way either of the twins actually thinks or processes things. he loves them, and he’s very forgiving of them, but he fundamentally doesn’t understand them. 

the twins, andrew especially, put up a LOT of nonverbal boundaries, and nicky sort of inadvertently keeps trampling all over them. he’s touchy in a way they don’t like. he talks a lot about their personal lives to other people. he treats them like they’re joking when they’re serious. etc. and like,,, you kind of get the sense that the upperclassmen feel similarly about him. beyond the homophobia, beyond the fact that he’s loyal to andrew, the upperclassmen still treat him with this sense of,, bafflement, i suppose? it’s clear that they don’t really understand him and he doesn’t really understand them. although, nicky IS curious about the upperclassmen, while the upperclassmen are pretty dismissive of him. it reminds me of when my sweet, floppy dog tries to play with my cat. their body language is different; they’re each receiving different signals than they believe they’re sending out

only,, nicky loves people!! he likes being around them, he likes talking to them. he’s interested in their lives and stories, but it’s very clear that he can’t read between the lines on people. he has an incredibly hard time with people who expect their actions to speak for them, which is most people, but is especially his cousins.

actually this is very much also an issue that i have: things need to be spelled out for me. the way i deal with it is i ask a lot of questions. ‘how do you want me to react to this potential situation?’ ‘what are specific things that make you most comfortable?’ ‘please explain to me exactly how you feel and what has prompted those feelings?’ and i’m always communicating vice versa like that with other people. a lot of specifics in both questions and answers

and the interesting thing is, when i was skimming through the books reviewing dialogue styles for another ask, i noticed that, actually, nicky DOES do this. with neil and the upperclassmen, nicky asks a LOT of quick, clarifying questions. things that ask after tone, that ask after intent. it’s kinda sad that he does this for communicating with acquaintances, but with the twins, the people he’s closest to, he makes a lot more assumptions. and i’m really proud of nicky for having this coping skill, because i can’t imagine it’s something he grew up doing. there’s no way he was raised in an environment that fostered this kind of open communication so it must have been something he learned about much later, probably in germany with the kloses, which would also explain why he’s a lil imperfect about it

now last but not least, aaron

this is another one i had to think through for a long time before it felt like it fit

much like how i felt that it would be easy to read nicky as simply adhd rather than also asd, i think it would be easy to say aaron is autistic simply because he is quieter, less rambunctious. however, i actually think he’s adhd, likely primarily inattentive type

in all honesty, aaron’s #1 character trait for the first two books is basically that he’s disconnected. detached. separated both from his family and his team. not in the same forcefully apathetic way that andrew is, more,, spaced out. he’s just kind,, there. not really paying attention to what’s going on, tuning in every once in a while only if something really catches his eye/ear then tuning right back out again. just sits in his corner and plays on his phone. and the thing is, from the moments when he does tune in, you can tell that he actually does care. he backs nicky when seth insults him in tfc, and we know he cares deeply about andrew even if he’s become disillusioned with their fraught relationship. he even hangs with his family, doesn’t seem to really try and slip away to other friends besides katelyn, he’s fine spending his leisure time with the monsters. so it’s not totally apathy, he’s just,,, tuned out most of the time

and, yea, that sounds like adhd. it’s not the type that most people are familiar with, and for a lot of people this causes it to slip under the radar. it can make it hard to get help or a dx because it doesn’t fit with how adhd “should” look or how someone “should” act, but difficulty focusing your thoughts and staying in tune with the current moment is absolutely part of adhd

addiction is also a huge problem for people with adhd. a lot of stimulants affect people with adhd very differently than neurotypicals, especially in small doses, and an adhd kid who’s struggled their whole lives with the disorder might try speed or god-forbid meth or fuck even coffee and suddenly find that things are a lot easier for them. they start to self-medicate, they don’t actually know what they’re doing, and then they’re addicted, and everything spirals out of control. we don’t know too many details about aaron’s addiction other than that his mother enabled him, but wouldn’t this fit? it’s also an explanation for aaron still taking drugs at eden’s, given that cracker dust seems to be a mild amphetamine. (aaron talk to betsy about the neurocog and get an actual prescription please)

NCT soon becomes a group that would become famous, as it somehow united 23 ppl under different houses together

Mae was bouncing her way down the path. It was the weekend, so the group decided to take a trip to Hogsmeade.

“Honeydukes! Honeydukes! Honeydukes!”

“You know you’re gonna end up getting a cavity from all the sugar you get, right?” Ravenclaw! Mark said, raising an eyebrow at her. He knew Honeydukes was her favorite shop, and was the first place the group visited.

“I’m sure there’s a spell that’ll help!” Mae said, waving him away. She was already thinking of what to buy.

Chocolate frogs and Berry Botts’ Every Flavor to annoy sounded good.

“Madam Pomfrey would be annoyed at you though.” Slytherin! Jungwoo pointed out. 

“You should worry less about me and more about Donghyuck being ready to race to Zonko’s.”

The two turned their attention to the Slytherin, who had an innocent look on his face, despite the mischievous glint in his eyes. Gryffindor! Jaehyun, who was right next to him, sighed.

“Don’t worry, I’ll watch him.” He said, putting a hand on Donghyuck’s shoulder. It was a nice effort, but everyone knew Donghyuck would end up leaving Zonko’s with at least two things.

“I’m still surprised the headmaster hasn’t expelled you and Yangyang yet.” Hufflepuff head boy! Taeyong said. In all honestly, all the pranks their friends made could rival the Marauders. 

“I’m just that lovable.” Donghyuck said grinning. Mae sighed and started dragging him away.

“We’ll get to Zonko’s later! Honeydukes is first!!!”
