this is entirely headcanon based (and in the cases of towns, cities, and most details, really my own lore), but it shouldn't contradict any canon. using these geographical locations is not obligatory in our threads (especially for other narnia muses!), but it's a helpful guide if i refer to locations. [ map ]

Ruled by the Pevensies under High King Peter, Narnia is still recovering from the Hundred Year Winter under the rule of Jadis the White Witch. Mostly heavily forested, Narnia has rolling hills rising to low mountains in the South, with Marshlands in the North, the Eastern Ocean to the East, and high, impassable mountains leading to the Western Wilds to the West. Its climate is mild and it is crossed by the Great Narnian River, with its capital, Cair Paravel, situated on an island in its delta. The Great Waterfall dominates Narnia's Western mountains, dropping into the Cauldron Pool, while the Lantern Wastes are the only part of Narnia still claimed by winter. In the Western Wilds Narnian law holds little sway, and the mountain passes are inhabited by bandits, oreads, and the remains of the White Witch's army. Key towns in Narnia include Owlwood, Beruna, Glasswater Creek, and Rockbridge. The Pevensies have their winter castle at Beruna, and locate there when the storms and winds at Cair Paravel become too strong.

The huge Bight of Calormen is currently ruled by King Neptune as the leader of the Merpeople. Fiercely independant warriors, the Merpeople have recently rejoined Narnian rule after a century of secession, but they merely pay tribute to High King Peter and are not otherwise ruled by him. Deep in the sapphire blue waters off the Narnian coast the Merpeople have their own cities, though few mortals have ever beheld them.

Located in the Eastern Ocean, the Seven Isles and the Lone Islands are part of Narnia, ruled by a Duke and a Governer respectively. The Seven Isles have a small population mostly concentrated on the islands of Mull and Brenn, with its capital, Redhaven, a centre of chivalry in Narnia, known for its tournaments. In contrast, the Lone Islands, far from the reach of Cair Paravel, has begun to give in to corruption. Rumours have reached the Pevensies of a thriving slave trade that has sprung up in its capital of Narrowhaven.

Ettinsmoor and the giants who inhabit her high mountains and frozen lakes, the Ettins, have long been considered Narnia's hereditary enemy. Though called unintelligent and brutish by Old Narnians, in actual fact the Ettins dwell in great stone and ice citadels, worshipping the Old Gods and keeping their old traditions that have existed long before the founding of Narnia. After the defeat of Jadis, they are weighing their chances of expanding Southwards into the Narnian Marches. The Ettins are regarded as strangers in Narnia and view the Narnians with contempt. Key cities in Ettinsmoor include Scornsmoor, Medger, and Spineswood.

“oh, god, edmund!” your concerned voice was a bit louder than it was supposed to be upon the sight of one of your beloved kings being brought into the medical tent, prompting you to quickly apologize to everyone in there before rushing to his side. the battle was already over and victory had been named for your kingdom of narnia, so several soldiers injured from the aftermath were being brought to you for recovery (thankfully, there weren’t so many that the youngest queen needed to go running around healing them with her elixir). “i was really hoping not to see any royalty today…”

he seemed a bit paler than usual from blood loss, but he weakly smiled at you rushing to his side, “edmund, huh? whatever happened to you insisting on calling me by my title?”

“is that really what you’re focusing on?” you immediately started removing his armor and cutting away at the fabric of his sleeve that obscured the damage for examination. it looked like an arrowhead got lodged in his arm and the wooden shaft got broken off at some point, needing to be removed in order for you to progress. “stay still and count to ten.”

“i don’t need to count to ten when the ten is right in front of— fuck!!” he almost bit his tongue in the middle of his compliment when you took the opportunity to take out the piece of metal with a pair of tongs, swiftly tossing it on a tray then applying pressure and working your magic as you were trained to.

“stop being so cheeky and let me get you cleaned up!” you huffed, trying to focus on your work instead of his flirtatious advances. it was no secret to anyone with eyes and ears that edmund fancied you and has been trying to woo you for quite some time now, but it seems that the only thing preventing you from being officially courted by him was your own denial of your feelings. even if the royal family made it clear that they would marry for love rather than status, you would still deny with everything in you that he always manages to make you falter without fail.

“a-at least if i die, the last sight i see will be the most beautiful girl in existence by my side,” he joked before hissing at the stinging sensation of you cleaning his wound. it was nowhere near the worst pain he felt or the closest he’s ever been to death, but he thought it would be funny to exaggerate the agony to get you to pay more attention to him as if it wasn’t already all on him.

“don’t say that! it’s not even bad enough to be that much of a bother, just remember to wash the wound with alcohol and change the bandages every day.”

“so i guess that means i’ll be seeing you every day since none of my servants are professionals like you are? i’m a king, you know, so it would only be expected to have the best of the best look after me!”

“… fine, i guess i’ll see you around this time for the next week for so until you’re fully healed…” his stupid smile made you get all hot and you turned around so that he couldn’t see your face for your reaction, but the very action told him everything that he needed to know.

“so do you think you could also help me up then walk be back to the palace to announce our victory and our relationship?”

“you hurt your arm, not your legs, so you don’t need my help to go back! also, we aren’t even a couple yet, there’s nothing to announce!”

“not a couple yet? so you admit that we will be someday?”

“oh, you’re insufferable!”

his cheeks ached a bit from all the smiles and laughter, able to ignore the pain like it was a mere paper cut thanks to the amusement teasing you has brought him. the day you’ll be his and he’ll be yours (although he always was yours) is close, he could feel it— and he’ll gladly milk this minor injury as much as he can if it means bringing that moment closer to him by spending more time with you.

I don't know which person manifested main character energy in my area but I'm literally living through a Hallmark movie plot as a background character.

For context, I live in Washington state, specifically behind one the main headwaters for many lakes, rivers, creeks, and watersheds in the area. It is also a major marshland that prevents major flooding when it rains, which is always, bc it's Washington.

This place is just forest and marsh, and our small neighborhood that's accessible by travelling down a one lane road through a swamp. (We have one singular lamp that lights that road like Narnia, especially in the fog XD).

Recently a big company came out and went door to door going "Hey, just letting you know that we're gonna be building a facility 10 ft from your houses. We chose this cute little neighborhood because there would have been pushback from bigger ones! So guess we'll be neighbors soon!"

To which we collectively went "No? N-no, you're not allowed to build back there. We almost weren't allowed to build back here when the neighborhood was first established. There are native plants and animals that live here, along with about 60% of pierce county's usable water. Also that "cute little neighborhood" remark sounded really condescending?"

So now here we are, about 2 months later, protesting with actual signs and a website because they still tried to build there, then stopped and nearly got in trouble for doing illegal things.

So. To whichever person is living out their main character Hallmark fantasy in Washington state, could you please hurry up and kiss the love interest and realize that you hate your corporate job so the black bears in my neighborhood can go back to the forest and stop curbstomping my trash can? It's arguably one of my slower WIPs, but the general premise of it was a post-LWW story about growth, I suppose?

It centers around Susan and Peter both, with the way that they are the ones who raise their siblings in Narnia - even with the guidance of the Narnians, there are still some very human aspects that only they can handle (the centaurs and fauns are a great help, though).

Though the true like, stars of the show would be Peter and a dryad (currently a dear friend to him, who knows if that'll become anything else) navigating through that, ft. a generous dose of longing talks about what England is like and being shown the many wonders of Narnia through the eyes of a dear, very dear friend

The celebration had gone on all night; the pale fingers of dawn were creeping their way about the horizon, tracing the uppermost boughs of the trees with their pearly pinkness, beginning to gloss the high planes of everyone's faces with golden light. An hour ago Peter would have sworn he felt no tiredness - the dryads had that effect, and the naiads were enthusiastic dancers; he was never sure if it was magic that kept everyone on their feet for so long, or simply the joy of the music. Now, though, he could feel the exhaustion beginning to set in. In the orchard in the centray courtyard of Cair Paravel, the lit candles had burned down almost to stubs, and the floating lanterns hung heavy on their slender strings, the wicks spluttering out.

He found his sister tucked into a corner with a final slender goblet of wine, and threw himself down beside her. Someone had braided a crown of flowers into his golden curls, but it had slipped sideways and hung at an angle that would've been rakish if the world wasn't swimming before his eyes. He grinned at her from his horizontal angle. "Five years," he said, and yawned hugely, his jaw cracking. "Can you believe we've survived five years?"
