Much like many others in this fandom, I enjoy assigning the colored soul traits to monster characters. But I also have a headcanon that someone’s soul can change color. It sometimes happens very very slowly over several years or even decades, as someone’s personality or worldview shifts, but sometimes it happens very quickly. Usually when under immense amounts of stress or trauma which force you to adapt to cope. 

I like to imagine that Toriel used to have an Integrity Soul, and Asgore used to have a Kindness Soul. But as the war progressed, Toriel was forced to loosen up on some morals for the sake of survival and protecting her loved ones, while Asgore was forced to confront anger and cruelty in the world. Toriel’s soul shifted from Integrity and Perseverance as she honed her will to endure and survive, while Asgore’s soul shifted from Kindness to Justice. 

Of course, no one has a singular personality trait, and playing the game those two are still driven by their old virtues. Toriel puts her pride and personal ethics over the desires of the rest of monsterkind, while Asgore is known for being a charismatic, friendly, and personable king, who does stuff like give a child Undyne one on one training to defeat him. 

But Toriel goes through a great a deal. She loses two children in a single night, is betrayed by a husband, turns her back on her people. She goes through years of isolation and loneliness, losing one child after another. And it hurts, and sometimes she just falls to pieces. But then another child falls, and she pulls herself together again, and she becomes their friend and guardian. Caretaker of the ruins. For them, or from spite, whichever, she endures. She doesn’t have the healthiest coping mechanisms, but until she finds a friend in Sans, she pushes onwards. 

And Asgore can never really return to who he was before the war, either. Yes he’s the much-beloved King Fluffybuns to his people. But when his children die, he’s also the one perfectly in tune with his people’s desire for vengeance. Until their desire outlives his own. But he can’t take back his word. He promised them Justice, he will deliver Justice. Until he looks a child so similar to his own in the eyes, and finally crumbles because this isn’t justice. He can’t ever see his family again, but isn’t it just to ensure this child who still has hope in their eyes can? 

Not to mention... I think Justice should not just be about administering punishment, but should also be about knowing when to administer mercy and healing, and stopping a tragedy from ever repeating. Chara and Asriel tried to free monsterkind and collect seven souls. Alphys may not have shown Asgore the tapes... but it’s poignant that instead of collecting the seventh soul and finishing what Chara tried to start through their death, he instead decides to save the life of the child who it’s all but stated reminds him of Chara. 

His encouragement to stay determined couldn’t save Chara. But maybe he can act out how he wished he could save them, through Frisk.

the revelation that claudia’s rebirth was such a twisted and horrible moment, with louis dragging her like she was a thing, a stranger who neither of them knew but he kept saying over and over “our daughter, our beautiful little daughter” to lestat, really solidified the way she was never the main character of her own story. she was always an accessory to some or the other of louis’ whims: his guilt, his loneliness, his conflict of being a killer, his rocky relationship with lestat. there was love there, love from both her fathers, but it was never enough. lestat saw her too much as a wretched mirror held up to his own self, and louis was always too steeped in his own feelings to care enough about hers. claudia’s story truly was the greatest tragedy in this tale, treated horribly by every man around her, even her fathers, relentlessly exploited and brutally ignored, always second and never first. the only one who loved her the way she deserved to be loved was madeleine, and the moment she truly had her, her happiness was torn from her. and just before she died, she got to see someone actually choose her in her entirety, not for what she can be but for who she is, and it still wasn’t enough. she still burned alive in the sunlight. the love was there, but it wasn’t enough to save her.

Zelda having a secret room for when she "needs to concentrate" carries with it the implication that it's Link that makes it difficult to concentrate, since they pretty clearly lived together between BOTW and TOTK. A lesser zelink shipper would turn this into something romantic but I'm operating on a higher wavelength.

Bruh emotional support ghost kid? Well thats what they are calling him

Suicide cases in gothem are about to fucking plummet boiz cause this one weird blue eyes, black haired boy is now heading to your location.

How does he know where to be? Having a bad day and are all alone? No the fuck your not cause don’t turn around now but theres some shiny blue eyes coming at you from that dark ally. Oh shit hes here to drop some information about you and your lost loved ones that he should know. Oh god the closure. How could you have been afraid on this sweet, creepy, boy who just helped you find your way.

Meanwhile Danny is chillin in Gothem cause the GIW hate it there (none of they equipment actually functions in Gothem so it’s either super haunted or actually not haunted at all). Then all of a sudden he gets approached by a random ghost begging for his help because their sweet baby girl is about to do something horrible. Oops now all the ghosts are following their most loved ones around just to make sure they are there to rush to Danny for help when all else fails. Now hes getting to fulfil his protection obsession double time because one hes helping protect people from themselves and two hes protecting everyone in Gothem by stopping people from becoming villains for revenge. Plus he gets to see first hand how hes making a difference because all those people he saved are sending him some good vibes from all across Gothem.

Thank god he followed Jazz around so much to slightly absorb some of her phycology knowledge over the years. Plus it was actually pretty interesting so she gave him her old text books. Shes also helping him deal with the rare events where he can’t save someone. Just a moment too late or he stops them but they later succeeded in the hospital. Neither are his fault. Now only if he could convince his core of that.

Anyway why Gothem you ask? Amity Park would have been just as good tbh but imagine Batmans face when he finally gets to be face to face with the emotional support ghost boy. Why is he here? Bruce is fine. Batman is fine. Hes not gonna do anything crazy. It’s just a hard time of year. Around their death always gives him grief. But hes an adult and can manage it.

“You know they are so proud of you.” The boy states. As if it’s clear as day, even though it’s Gothem and never a clear day. Batman blinks at him, stunned for a moment. “What?” This boy can’t possibly know that. No one will ever know that, Bruce can only hope. “They see their home, full of such life. That big house that felt so empty, so cold, to them as well for years. Then you filled it with Family and Love like they had always wanted for you. They are so proud of what you have turned it into. Somewhere full of life and warmth.” A small smile graces his face as finally “you have made your parents so proud” and its all he can do to contain himself. Emotions are running high and sue him because he really did need to hear that ok. The boy suddenly looks to Bruces right with a confused face “aren’t all basements like that though?” Before Bruce can even get a word in hes gone. Just vanished before his eyes.

It was Maid Day today yesterday a week ago so I got struck by inspiration to draw the worsties, and it ran away from me into a whole AU where they’re coworkers at a maid cafe. She’s a med student & this is just a part time job, and this is his depression job while he gets his life back together. He needs something he can be workaholic about to forget what it’s like having a personal life and personal issues. He’s actually the accountant, but the new hire janitor (Izutsumi) doesn’t show up for half her shifts and is a sloppy worker, so he gets the extra work of doing her job on top of his because he’s undervalued and overworked. Of course, janitors also have an uniform to keep the aesthetic cohesion as they go about cleaning the place, of course.

Senshi’s the part time cook you only see slivers off, he’s kind and warm when you do see him and have a chat but most shifts he’s in and out the kitchen without a trace. Laios and Falin are regulars because Falin and Marcille are besties & in the same med school, Laios accompanies Falin as she visits her friend at work and gets hooked on the food. Chilchuck has to remind Marcille to work instead of chatting with Falin for an hour, and next thing he knows she’s distracting him from work too. That’s it that’s the AU. Inspired by this idol AU fanart a bit <3
