Cupcake
opla!Sanji x gn!reader
Summary: During some late night baking, your flirty crewmate decides to keep you company.
WC: 1.9k
Warnings/tags: traditionally feminine adjectives (pretty, gorgeous, beautiful) but no gender is explicitly stated, fluff, self deprecation, lots of compliments, self indulgent
Note: first attempt at a Sanji fic because branching out is important
Night has overtaken the ship. It's calm, and stars blink in the sky, twinkling for the world to see. The soft rocking of the water has lulled nearly everyone aboard into a sweet, lovely sleep.
You were the only one awake, settled in the kitchen, a pile of various ingredients surrounding you as you prepared to bake. There was no reason behind your choice of late night activity. No anniversary or debt in need of repaying or any special event that required baked goods. It was just a calm enough night, and you couldn't sleep, so it seemed like a proper course of action.
As you began to measure out the ingredients, separating them into bowls for organisation, you heard a creak, followed by footsteps. Somebody else was awake, and was coming closer.
You watched as the door opened, revealing Sanji, yawning, before noticing you, and stopping dead in his tracks, surprised at the sight of you, hard at work this late at night.
"Well, good morning." He gave you a quick smile before stretching a little bit. "Couldn't sleep?"
"Kind of." You watch as he approaches you, inspecting the counter and your little process. "What are you doing?"
"Making cupcakes." You answered simply, dropping the flour into the bowl, a cloud of white rising as the flour settled.
"So late at night?" "Maybe I'm really early. How about you?"
He smiled. "I was going to get a glass of water." You gestured behind you. "Go on, I won't stop you."
He passed by you to grab a glass. "So, baking all alone?"
"Yeah. I find it relaxes me." He nodded, then took a careful step towards the door. "Well, if I'm bothering you-"
"You're not."
The words came out quick, and you had hoped you hadn't sounded desperate. You doubted the chef could ever be a bother to you, and you truly hoped he would stay to accompany you while you worked.
"Oh. Well then, could I stay? And watch you bake?" He moved back to the side of the island, standing opposite you, looking hopeful that you would say yes to his request. "Only if you promise to stay out of the way." You said, trying to push back a little after your small outburst earlier.
He nodded and pulled up a chair, sitting down to watch you work. You moved swiftly, pouring the ingredients into their proper bowls, making sure the measurements were just right.
"So," he broke the silence between you. "Do you bake often?"
"I used to. It was quite the hobby back at home, but I haven't had the chance to do it here yet." Sanji nodded. "What do you like to make?"
You smiled, thinking back to the copious recipes you had backed up in your brain. "Where do I start? Cookies, breads, pastries, pies, anything really. And cakes." You gestured at your handiwork. "Cakes, of course."
"Are they your favourite to make?" Sanji asked. "Oh yeah. Used to spend all day decorating them with my mom. Icing them with my favourite colours and absolutely drenching them with sprinkles." You smiled at the memory. "Sounds nice." Sanji smiled back. "She'd like you." You said suddenly.
"She would?" He asked, a little taken aback.
The look on his face told you that you might have messed up again, possibly treading a little too close to the knowledge that you liked him. But it was too late to backpedal.
"Yeah. She'd probably call you a sweetie, invite you to dinner, and insist that you leave the house with a pair of newly knit socks."
"Your mother sounds lovely." You nodded. "She is. I hope she's not lonely without me to keep her company." "I'm sure the people of your village take good care of her." Sanji comforted.
"I'm sure too. Maybe I'll write her a letter sometime. Maybe she'll even write back. One can hope."
"I'm sure she'd be happy to see you sharing your talents with your crew."
You nodded your head in thanks. "Oh, you flatter me."
"You are quite worth it." He smiled at you, something you had taken a liking to. He reminded you a little of what you imagined princes looked like in fairy tales. Handsome, charming.
The conversation went cold as you continued working, focused on the process ahead of you.
You stirred the batter, carefully adding the dry ingredients to the mixture, combining the two.
You were focused, making sure not to spill anything as you worked carefully.
"You're really pretty when you're focused."
The words slipped out without warning. Even Sanji seemed a little surprised at his comment. He'd flirted with you before, but it had always been so worked up. An act. Over dramatic and at least to you, unserious.
You had never taken his compliments seriously. At best, you thought he was trying to make you feel better about yourself. You figured it was just an act he put on to humour you, and you enjoyed it, even if it didn't boost your confidence all that much.
Admittedly, you liked Sanji. Far more than any of your other crewmates. If he were to feel the same, you would be delighted, but you were almost entirely sure he wasn't. He also flirted with Nami, and so many others who would likely be much better matches for him.
You could stand having his pity flirts to tide you over while he found someone he truly liked.
However, this was no typical flirt. There was no quick wink or smirk on his face. Just honesty. And that was so unexpected you nearly dropped your bowl.
You managed to set the bowl of dry ingredients down without spillage, trying to calm down the incessant fluttering in your chest.
"I mean, you, uh, I was going to say, I only meant that..." he was unable to say anything coherent. A man with a thousand lines backed up in his brain, suddenly rendered speechless.
You backed away from the counter, trying to ignore the warmth spreading across your face. Your jaw went slack as you watched him try to come up with something, anything, to save himself.
"I'm sorry, I should just go." Sanji was as red as a tomato, taking his glass and shuffling towards the door.
"Wait." Your voice commanded him, and he turned around to face you again, looking rather ashamed of himself.
"Did you mean that?" "It just slipped out, don't be uncomfortable, I just-" "You really think I'm pretty?" You didn't believe it, but maybe you could humour him for once.
He almost laughed in disbelief. "Of course I do! Who wouldn't?"
"Plenty of people. Lots of men. And I mean lots." Sanji scoffed. "Forget them. They're nothing but trouble. You're gorgeous."
You could sense it returning. The typical flirting. His overdramatic way of trying to comfort you.
"Oh please, like you haven't been playing with me all this time too." You swatted your hand at him. "You and your over the top flirting, I know what you think of me."
Sanji frowned, confused. "And what do I think of you?"
"Not much. You notice me and don't want to hurt my feelings by ignoring me so you flirt anyways. I know you don't truly think I'm pretty-" he practically gasped at your statement. "-but I promise I don't hold it against you. It's nice that you try to get me to think I'm pretty, but I know I'm not. That's okay. I have other skills."
"How could you possibly think that?" Sanji looked more than horrified. "I have never flirted with anyone I have found less than stunning."
You laughed, getting back to your baking, mixing the dry ingredients with the wet. "There's a first time for everything."
Sanji looked absolutely distraught. "You don't seriously think I say everything I do to you as a joke? As consolation?"
You shrugged. "I mean, yeah? You just always put so much effort into your flirting, I thought it was a joke. I never knew if you meant it or not. I figured you didn't."
He walked forward, looking you in the eye from across the island, trying to convey how truthful he was being.
"I promise you, you are beautiful. Any old fool could see that. You are pretty when you're focused and I have never been more enchanted by someone in my life. And I mean that."
You laughed awkwardly, face still blazing hot. "Okay, you don't have to prove it. You can stop it, Sanji."
He circled the room until he was stood right next to you. The last of the dry ingredients fell into your batter and you set the bowl down, not mixing it yet.
"If you do not believe it tonight, I will tell you tomorrow, and the day after it, and the day after that, for however long it takes for you to believe it."
You chuckled softly. "Okay. I gotta finish these cupcakes." Sanji gently reached out a hand, resting it on your shoulder so that you would look at him.
"You are pretty, whether you believe it or not." You gently shrugged him off, though treasuring the feeling of his hand touching you. "Okay, whatever you say."
The two of you did not speak after that. He returned to his spot on the other side of the island, and the two of you spent the rest of the baking process in silence, until the last batch of cupcakes were removed from the oven.
"I'm gonna get a bit of sleep before the sun rises." You said quietly, waking up your companion, who had been napping on the countertop.
"Of course, cupcake." He said, clearly tired and a little delirious. The mix-up was clear, and yet, it had sounded like a pet name. And you giggled. The second the noise left your mouth, you turned red, and ran from the room, scurrying back to your bedroom to get a few blinks of sleep before the next day's adventures.
When you awoke, you did not feel well rested at all, but at the very least, you could sneak a tasty cupcake in at breakfast, as long as Luffy hadn't found and finished them all as soon as he saw them.
The kitchen was lively with early morning chatter, and you noticed a plate of neatly decorated cupcakes on the counter. Iced with your favourite colour, drizzled in sprinkles. Each one prettier than the last.
You looked over at the chef, who was caught between two pans of scrambled eggs and bacon, trying to see if it was him who had decorated them.
He looked up from his work briefly and smiled at you.
"Good morning cupcake." Your face burned under his eyes. Of course he had heard your giggle, and of course he was holding it against you.
"Did you do this?" You asked, pointing at the cupcakes. "Yes, I'm sorry but I figured you'd like them nice and iced. Like you said earlier. I left most of the rest for you to decorate, if you want."
"I didn't know you knew my favourite colour." You said, picking up a cupcake, admiring it.
"Of course I do. Someone so pretty deserves to have things remembered." You rolled your eyes at his not-so-sneaky attempt at flattering you. "Nice try, Sanji, but I'm not a fool." You took a bite from your cupcake.
He sighed. "I'll have to try harder next time."
"You don't have to do this. I'm fine, I promise you."
"I'm not doing this because I have to, cupcake." He grinned at the flustered look on your face. "I'm doing this because you deserve it."

hiii hina <333 ok so now i must know, what are some of your favourite character designs? like, the elements are so compelling and go so well together to form a design that is cohesive and visually appealing. and is there a particular piece of media that just has consistently banging character designs?
OOH OKKOKOK listen. i am no expert i have not been classically trained in fact i have not taken a single char design course but to me, good character design boils down to 2 main elements: a. recognizability and b. visual storytelling and the concept of show, don’t tell. recognizability is where more technical elements like shape language and silhouette come into play. u want an audience to be able to instantly know a character with minimal confusion, and that is made much easier if u have good working knowledge of shapes, colours, and proportions. That’s what /makes/ a good design, but what /SELLS/ that design is the underlying meaning. WHy do characters look the way they do. what can you learn from the way they look. there is undoubtedly a time and a place for designs that are just cute to be cute but if u want to make a lasting impression beyond “oh this character is hot/cute/attractive” u gotta dig deeper.
i am going to yap now smile
i wld b remiss and a liar and a fraud if i did not talk about arcane in regards to character design. fr me arcane is THE media that does not miss with a single one of their designs. this show is fucking stunning points at every character . every single one of them . hand in marriage. u learn SO much about everyone and their roles/personalities/fighting styles just by looking at them not to mention they’re all fucking 10s this show is a bisexual’s nightmARE anyway personal favourites vi and jinx but ths just me being predictable
vi /looks/ like a fighter the minute u see her. her build her gait everything about her screams this woman will snap me like a twig (pLpslslplpslpslpspl). u see tht she’s rough and brash but one thing i rly find interesting is her hair colour. like fr one its brightness distinguishes her as a main character, but also pink being typically associated with femininity/love/nurture/compassion is SO interesting paired with vi. not only is it kind of subversive bc vi is not traditionally “feminine”, but she does embody all of those traits in that her reason for fighting comes from a place of wanting to nurture and protect. i could talk for hours about vi anyway. hand in marriage,,./.?? hand in marriage pls/?????????
jinx i LOVE I LOVE I LOVE . she’s wiry she’s chaotic she’s asymmetrical and that MEANS something it /shows/ her mental state n the way she fluctuates between her identities of jinx and powder. I love the hints of pink/purple not only as visual nods to vi but also as alluding to shimmer and the dangerous undercurrent it gives her. not 2 mention her design works so well alongside her sister like. besides the obvious pink/blue juxtaposition everything about them from their body types their colour schemes the way they carry themselves the way they dress… it’s peak . nothing tops arcane in character design for me
a few other noteworthy mentions:
illumi hxh - listen idk what the fuck he’s wearing but it’s a 90s shounen i’ll forgive him. illumi’s design is brilliant imo. he’s not in your face like hisoka who u see and know immediately that this guy is insane, he’s beautiful but sleek in a way that makes him almost reptilian. it’s a subtle kind of off-putting and u want to recoil when u see him but it’s just understated enough that u don’t know Why until it’s too late. the wide, catlike dead eyes the jet black hair… his design lends SO well to what he represents for killua, he’s this ever-present shadow he’s an oppressive force we see phantoms of illumi’s eyes Boring into killua we see his hair forming a sort of cage god the visuals the visuals im so . im unwell about the zoldyks actually.
kaneki tg - this one is a bit tricky bc at first glance kaneki /is/ just ur standard dark hair protag but!! the way his design and specifically his hair r used as a visual representation of his mental state and character arc is so good i lovelovelove the progression and storytelling u see through his design alone.
- early kaneki w his shorter plain black hair makes him look innocent and unassuming bc he /is/. he was no one special, what happened to him was just pure bad luck. - ghoul kaneki w white hair showing the mental break after he’s tortured, stripped of his innocence/sanity/humanity - HAISE MY LOVE the two-toned hair showcasing how he has literally become a blank slate after his amnesia and the events of tg and the resulting limbo between identities ((also idk if it’s just tht ishida’s style had changed by :re but haise’s hair in particular is so FLUFFY it makes him look very non-threatening which might be a coincedence but might also be intentional in showing how he’s taken on more of a gentle mentor role by this point)) - reaper kaneki and we r once again back to black but whereas before it made him look plain and unassuming with the new context it makes him look /lethal/. ((also directly contrasts arima's design, having a near identical silhouette with the only difference being his black to arima's white)) - endgame kaneki finally settling back on white as a way to show tht after everything he’s been through he’s come back permanently changed: he is a ghoul, he’ll never b able to go back to the way things were or reclaim his humanity, but he’s gotten to a place where he's at peace with it now tl;dr cataloguing a character’s journey and mental state through their appearance >>>>>>>
LAST THING IK IVE YAPPED SO MUCH GOMEN ,, i did want to tack on my feelings about, wouldn’t u know it, genshin fucking impact, bc i did say i think there is a place for character designs that r just pretty to be pretty and i think a lot of genshin designs r good examples of this. i’ve seen some people getting upset about genshin being lazy with character design and making their characters unnecessarily Busy, but as someone who doesn’t play and doesn’t know anything about the game let me just say tht if the goal is to get players to spend money fuckin congratulations . i too would whale for some of these designs. bc i don’t play i don’t know for sure whether or not characters' appearances have any relevance to their lore or if it’s mostly just bells and whistles purely for aesthetic, all i know is am not immune to alhaitham.
#kikuism#answered#WROTE A NOVEL GHDSGKKJS#get me talking about arcane n i cannot be held responsible for the word count

The Colour of Fire
"This must be tough on your lot, huh?"
"What do you mean," Palira asked, already knowing where this conversation was headed. Her tail coiled instinctively beneath the desk.
"Oh, come on, you know what I mean." The customer was human, as they so often were. He counted out his coins on the counter, as if she wouldn't have to tally them herself. "I don't know what the right word is nowadays. Is dragon still allowed? We're not supposed to say wyrms, right? Or is that wyverns?"
"Dragon is fine." She didn't bother outlining the difference. If he cared, he wouldn't already know. "But I understood the your lot, as you so diplomatically put it. I meant the other part. What must be tough?"
"Look, you know, getting rid of coins and that. The paper money. You people like piling it up, right? Hoarding? What are you going to do - make a stack? Build a mattress out of wads of notes?"
"That's a stereotype." Palira let the you people slide. Some days she was just grateful for people. "The idea that we sleep atop of a mound of gold. It really doesn't work that way."
Her ancestors would have swallowed him whole, but evolution had seen them go the way of the giants, adapted for life in the crowded cities. She'd kept her tail, her wings, her penchant for pyrotechnics, but wore clothes and worked behind a counter; the same number of scales, just scaled down. No less a dragon, but more of what his sort would recognise as a person.
She began the process of counting his coins away, keeping a tally as she went. This change to paper money was welcome, but it involved an awful lot of hassle: all of the old coins would need to be taken out of circulation, with notes issued in exchange. Vast exchanges had been set up to manage the transition, with dozens of trusted workers like Palira having to manually convert between the two. It wasn't too bad, when they let her concentrate.
"Right, that's what I'm asking." The human really wasn't getting the hint. "How does it work, then? You just pile it up to look at it? You don't eat it, do you?"
Palira sighed, a wisp of frustrated smoke escaping from her nose. "Traditionally - and I don't speak for all dragons here, because we're all individuals - we've just been drawn to gold for the way that it gleams. In our culture, it's the colour of fire, which is obviously also sacred to us. It's that lustre we revere above all else. Not how much is can be traded for at the greengrocers."
They'd always loved gold for its appearance - just as his ancestors had, before they'd gone and made it weird. Humanity had declared this simple metal to be the unit of all worth, the symbol of trade, and then also used it as the marker of their greed. A love for gold was seen as toxic, the root of all their sins, whilst loving other things was still allowed. Dragons were painted as the embodiment of miserly evil, when they were aesthetes: they'd only ever cared about the beauty of the gold itself.
Of course, the human translation of gold-as-money had also made it incredibly hard to get hold of the stuff. Even those who didn't care for the colour needed it to eat every day, to invest in new clothes, to save to put a roof over their heads. They started hoarding it, hiding it, packing it away in bank vaults where nobody could admire it at all. For Palira and her lot, the transition to paper money couldn't have come sooner.
No wonder so many had applied to work at exchanges like this: handing out the new notes, and taking the redundant old coins in exchange. Finally, they could show the world how little they cared for money: they would make an arrangement of that gold, yes, now that it was no longer legal tender. They would remove it from circulation all right. It had been freed up to be worshipped, just like in the olden days. Legally worthless, but still worth everything to them.
"Fire's red," the man told her. "Everyone knows that."
"You have a good day," Palira said, handing over his wads for safekeeping. She could easily find out where he lived, if she thought he needed more of a lesson, channelling the fury of her ancestors for the modern age. That was the other good thing about paper money, she thought: it was much more flammable.

Hellooo! I hope you are having a good day :D I would like to request a romantic matchup for Hypmic, Paralive and Pjsk (if that's too much then hypmic and Pjsk please!)
My zodiac is Taurus and my MBTI is INFP, my love language is quality time! (Receiving) usually I'm not shy but it's more like I don't know how to talk to people? I feel like it's mostly awkward since I don't go out of my comfort zone quite often. I also overthink quite a lot, so if I were to talk to someone, I usually practice what I'm going to say in my head to make it sound natural and not too formal because I really don't want to sound weird and nervous talking to them.
I really really like drawing and painting! Both traditionally and digitally. For drawing i mostly draw people but weirdly when I paint, I mostly draw landscapes and scenes, I think that might be because I enjoy painting backgrounds more rather than drawing them. I also like fantasy stories/movies a lot more than other genres and my second favourite is thriller! Not too big on horror though I get scared easily...speaking of getting scared, I have a fear of darkness and frogs (no clue if that's important) I love playing indie games! Plus points if they have pixel art. I don't know what about them makes me like it so much, maybe it's the colours or atmosphere? But games that are like that and I liked are: omori (Favourite!), Yume Nikki, mad father, Ib, Angels of death (2nd favourite!) but I also like puzzle games or turn based games! I like games where you have to think it through or strategize your way through it, it makes it more fun.
For music, I mostly listen to Vocaloid producers or utaite's like Eve (favourite!), soraru, Teniwoha, Surii, PinocchioP, etc. But other than Vocaloid, I mostly listen to hypmic or enstars or paralive songs...
I'm more of a follower rather than a leader although if something goes out of hand or no one takes care of it then I will take the initiative.
I don't do well with new surroundings either, for example moving schools. I will have a harder time making new groups of friends and I also have a hard time getting used to everything 😞. But when I do find a friend group, I will stick with them for a long time (unless they turned into bad people)
I would consider myself as a loyal person, I would not leave someone dear to me ever unless there's a good reason for it. I also value honesty a lot, in my opinion a comfortable friendship or relationship can start with people being comfortable and saying what they want to say. Of course that way of thinking doesn't apply to everyone but that's how I view it.
I know I said I value honesty, but sometimes I can be a little too honest. At some point I can get too blunt with my opinions and accidentally hurt someone. I also struggle with opening up to people. It's not like I don't want them to know, it's more like I'm scared of what they'll think of me after. I don't want their view of me change just because I voiced my struggles 😞.
Oh I also want to slip this in, I absolutely ADORE lolita fashion! Anything with ribbons and laces and big dresses I'd love it, I also like vintage aesthetics, royal and steampunk.
That's it from me, I hope that's enough? Or if that's too much then I'm very sorry for rambling so much 😭
hi!! i absolutely love your interests.. like.. angels of death?! i love that game sm... anyways!! hope you enjoy your matchup, anon!
I match you with...
Ichiro Yamada!
-Okay, Ichiro would push you out of your comfort zone no matter how awkward you are but he does know his limits of when you're uncomfortable. He wants you to step outside of your comfort zone occasionally but respects your limits.
-Although I don't think his love language is quality time and it's more of a mix of words of affirmation and acts of service, he'd still cherish any quality time. Just a very respectful boyfriend of your limits that you set.
-I think I ended up picking people who'd support you a lot through your hobbies... (unintentionally). Either way, he'd support you through thick and thin no matter what.
-Movie dates with Ichiro....
-Loyalty and honesty are going to be a big theme between these three guys. Ichiro values both deeply and wants a loyal and honest partner above all else. He tries his best to be honest with you because he's already so loyal that well... you don't have to worry about it at all.
I match you with...
Satsuki Ito!
-Probably beats Ichiro in terms of loyalty and honesty. Just by a bit... Satsuki can't even lie to you no matter what it is. He's just so obvious that you don't have to worry about him lying to you whatsoever.
-He's far too embarrassed to do a lot of physical affection or words of affirmation so quality time is a big one he enjoys a lot. Just being around you makes him so giddy that he can't help but love being in the moment.
-He's such a big softie and he loves you so much that he feels offended that you think he'd treat you differently because of your struggles. Everyone has them, even him!
-Poor guy.. he really hopes you get along with his brothers and wants you to be comfortable with them like you are with him! He knows you have a hard time with new people and communicating so he just hopes that it goes well.
I match you with...
Toya Aoyagi!
-I know the other two on this list are very extroverted or at least extroverted compared to Toya of all people but! I picked Toya because I feel like he's trying to be a little more extroverted but wouldn't push you out of your comfort zone in social situations.
-He's a very supportive boyfriend like the other two and always enjoys it when you show your art to him and cherishes any pieces you might gift to him if anything.
-His love language is also quality time so that's a big reason I matched you up with him as well. He loves quality time above all else and he's a very low maintenance boyfriend overall. No need for fancy dates. As long as he can spend time with you, he's happy.
-Unlike the other two, Toya is also more of a follower but can be a leader in a way if needed for you. He doesn't mind taking the lead as long as he's confident in it or if you reassure him.
-As a very loyal person himself, I think he'd love it if you got along with his friends as well and always puts you on a pedestal in his heart. He'd never dare to betray you and is a little hesitant when he has to lie about something like a surprise birthday gift.
-He's a very honest person too and would never dare to think differently of you just because you have your own struggles. Everyone does so why should he treat you differently because of them?

mx ollie take my money 4 art
But I dunno how... :{
Let's give the rundown, honestly. The way I do commissions is by the hour, right? Because older artists who did commissions recommended that, and I've stuck to it because it seems fair. I worked a long time on a piece then it should be more expensive than a piece I worked on for a shorter amount of time. But you can't exactly offer a product with an inconsistent price on Kofi (which I know most people here use to manage commissions). You have to have a set price and then I guess someone could tip you if they so chose to.
Most commissions I've done have been for people I already know and have a means of efficiently communicating with (all the basic "yo what the fuck colours" and "is this pose good?"). So, the way I traditionally take commissions, I feel, may be too intimate for opening commissions to the wider public.
And, of course, there is pricing. I don't know how to put a price on a piece without factoring in just how much time was spent on it. A piece that could take me a few days if I were feeling batshit could take me several weeks if I have a lot else to do, especially other peoples' commissions all in a short span of time.
This isn't to say I'm never gonna open commissions, but it's just troubling. It seems so simple when other people do it. And I'm like "hey, am I selfish to ask to be paid by the hour when there are other people on this site who are like "it's 25 for a whole-ass finished illustration".
And then, I look at so many artist's price sheets and I can only say: "But... my art doesn't look like this. It is nothing like this."
Oh, and don't even get me started on picking out examples. Just shoot me now.

Hello Sunshine! I appreciate hearing how you permit shorter or longer replies. What you perceive me as matters a lot to me, dearest, and you will come to learn this as soon as we meet face to face. As for rings, I love pearls, my aunt used to collect them by the coast of their country they immigrated to. Maybe I can see if she has any left to ship over. I am fifteen years old, my favourite colour is most definitely a darker colour. And as for how I would describe myself? I'd describe myself as perfect if you asked me on a good day and filth on a bad one, it changes like seasons truly. However, one word that has always sat with me to describe myself is intelligent. I am very intelligent, I believe. Now; to reverse the question. How would you describe yourself? Make sure not to waste all your sick days replying to anons, get some rest for me, my doe. - Inkwell.
before i completely reply .. my doe 💛 oh i love it! you are just perfect, aren’t you??
no matter how you look or how you act and feel, i will always appreciate you. i want you to know that <33 you don’t have to act a certain way around me!! of course i love your beautiful writing, but you can loosen up whenever you’d like <333 it won’t change the way i feel about you hehe. and wow, what a coincidence! i absolutely love pearls, so its crazy that you have a close connection to them. that’s beautiful.. and absolutely amazing hehe!!
i can understand that. i don’t think i would EVER describe myself as perfect, but sometimes i think im above average and other times i think im the worst thing to ever exist .. like mosquitoes, or flies that bother horses and like .. sit on their eyeballs … (can you tell i hate bugs?) i would agree .. i think you’re very intelligent hehe ^^ and i may be a little biased , but i definitely think you’re great!!
how would I describe myself..? oh gosh. sigh you might get a lil mad cuz im “putting myself down” .. probably loud, annoying, emotional, lazy.. ugly.. i guess for good characteristics id say im selfless.. i like to think im kind. i uhm… like to gift give..? idk, i honestly think my only good traits are my kindness, and sometimes i feel like i dont even have that.
and shuuuush, i like replying to everyone!! but.. i do know what you mean. trust me, ive been in bed resting all day!! nothing to worry about <333 hehe, im so happy about your response tho !!
some questions .. do you wear makeup? if so, what’s your favorite brand? do you like to write traditionally (pen and paper)??
thank you so much nonnie :3

Today I'm listening to Ghost Mile from 2017. I'm very excited for this because it's one of the best albums from Voyager. I'm going to gush about this album so hard under the cut LOL!
The opening song, Ascension, immediately sets an immaculate vibe with the dream-like guitars and switches the mood soon after with the rougher guitars. The song has so many good vibes and sounds, you can't help but just hang on for dear life and let it wash you away. Daniel's vocals during the chorus are so good too, I can't understate how much this song slaps. With how the song has so many tempos and mood shifts, it's pretty hard to believe that it's about not wanting to get out of bed in the morning!
This actually brings me to the topic that I've teased talking about many many times in previous posts: the concept and mood of melancholy. I've noted many times that early Voyager used to have a lot more traditionally melancholic and slow songs. Listening to Modern Voyager(TM), you might think that melancholy is absent from their sound now, but it's actually just... hidden? Disguised? Dressed up with faster tempos? I'm not sure how to describe what they're doing, but it's insanely good. You can hear it immediately in the first two songs of Ghost Mile: Ascension and Misery is Only Company could be counted as "melancholic" or "slow" in a way, but they have a really energetic take on it. To the Riverside of course is a traditionally slow song, but it's incredibly atmospheric and it seamlessly transitions to the faster title track, Ghost Mile. And that transition, as a side note? It slaps so much, oh my god, I cannot understate how much it slaps! The tension starts to build at the end of To the Riverside and before you can process it, the guitars slam in and you're in Ghost Mile. It's so good. This Gentle Earth is also somewhat slow, but it has a very uplifting mood and it builds up speed as it goes.
Daniel's vocals just keep getting better and better. Misery is Only Company and Lifeline are songs that I can't listen to without singing along because the vocals are just so captivating and Daniel makes it sound so easy (again!). The note on the word "shine" in Lifeline's chorus is an especially good example of this. Daniel lets the note flutter down gently like a leaf in the wind, but when I try to sing along, I run out of breath LOL!
Ghost Mile has so many strong, attention-grabbing and captivating openings to songs. Ascension, Lifeline and This Gentle Earth especially open incredibly well, but Misery is Only Company and The Fragile Serene also deserve an honourable mention.
Ghost Mile isn't as synth-heavy as, say, Colours in the Sun or even V before it, but it still has something unique in its sound. I think that it's this album where Voyager has grown their beard and found their niche and unique sound. I think it says something about how much I like this album when there are only two songs that I haven't added to my Voyager faves playlist.
Speaking of synths, the song that does have them, What a Wonderful Day, uses them in a fascinating, dark way. It kind of reminds me of Lost from I Am the Revolution or The Meaning of I. It sounds very different from the light and bright way synths are used in Colours in the Sun and Fearless in Love.
As a side note, there is a song titled Disconnected. Remember that for my Colours in the Sun review.
The last two songs, This Gentle Earth and As the City Takes the Night, are one of the most perfect album-ending songs I've heard. This Gentle Earth is an emotional, uplifting, piano-heavy song that especially strikes a chord with me with the repeated line "I've never felt so alien". As the City Takes the Night also opens with atmospheric piano, but it quickly pulls a hard left and slaps you with rough guitars. It really puts the "prog" in "prog metal" when it takes you through a lot of different sound textures that flow into each other while still sounding cohesive and natural together. When the song settles to its end, you feel like you're out of breath, deservedly so, and in a good way. It feels like you're settling down from a long flight on a hoverboard after a chase scene through the gritty streets of a cyberpunk dystopia. Also the way the last line of lyric is the same as the first lyric in Ascension? Poetic cinema. Pure brilliance.
This is such a good album. The songs flow with each other really well and the internal flow of each song is also well crafted and natural. Ghost Mile has some of my top favourite Voyager songs (Ascension, Misery is Only Company and Lifeline). I would also argue that it's a god gateway album for someone who wants to get into heavy metal, but feels intimidated by "heavier" heavy metal bands (although my recommended order would be Colours in the Sun -> Fearless in Love -> Ghost Mile, in order of increasing heaviness, but I digress).
Tomorrow it's Colours in the Sun's turn, which is my favourite Voyager album. I can't wait!

Camellia Pink
Young Justice Edward Nygma X Reader
The Riddler finds a peculiar gift sitting by his desk.
Sooo, this is just a small parting gift before I take a break from this blog 💝✨
... pink flower?
From a mile away, he spots the pink flower sitting on his desk. And based on its colour and intact petals, it must not have been that long when someone placed the gift on his desk. He was almost afraid to touch it, fearing it's just a cruel joke played on him by his fellow rogues. He's not exactly new to their mean-spirited fun.
Gently, he plucks the flower by the stem. He never really minded flowers, but he certainly can appreciate their beauty and their contribution to the ecosystem. Poison Ivy can get a touch bitchy if one would bring up the topic of traditionally gifting flowers and she's ranted enough to the point he'd hear her voice whenever he'd pass by florists selling flowers on the street. Every flower is lovely to Eddie, but it's just that someone would go out of their way to give him changed something... Unless this is a prank.
Upon closer inspection, he was able to identify the flower. A pink camellia... They're not a fragrant flower, but they certainly are lovely.
Pink camellia... Wait, flower language is a thing.
He fishes for his phone in his pocket and began to type away.
Pink... Camellia... Meaning...
Suddenly, his face was as pink as the heavens between his fingertips.
Longing... The flower symbolises longing.
Edward looks around to try and spot the mystery person that placed the symbol of longing on his desk. Not one crossed his mind, as he thinks that everyone there hated him, mighty annoyed with him.
Maybe it was just a prank...
"Hi."
He didn't realised someone had stood beside him, almost making him jump. He had been staring a hole in his phone, with the flower in his shaking, clammy grip.
"Did you liked the flower?"
... I'm sorry, is this a prank?
There was no way. You gave the flowe to him?
There was an anxious anticipation in your eyes that compelled him to answer without think properly.
"YES!"
... it came out embarassingly loud, some of the others, perhaps everyone glanced over. Oh god, you looked so damn humiliated, are you going to take the flower back because of that?
Once again, he tried to remedy the situation with more of his thoughtless statement.
"I-I like it, I've never been given flowers before! I mean, I certainly love the colour... Pink is such a nice colour, it's a little sad that some people denounce the colour for so many reasons-- reasons that are, may I add, ridiculous-- well just because it's pink.... Um..." Rambling... He's rambling again, isn't he?
God fucking damnit, Edward. This is why people hate you, just get straight to the point.
"Yes, I love them." He swallows thickly.
"Oh, thank god..." There was relief in your voice. "Are you familiar with flower language?"
"No exactly, but Poison Ivy told me a lot about them! Mostly basic flowers, such as roses, daisies--"
"How about camellias? Specifically, pink ones."
"Oh! Of course!" You lying dimwit, you just found out through Google. "I long for you. T-the meaning, it's the meaning of pink... Camellia. I-I don't long for you, no that'd be weird..."
The way your face flushed in a certain hurt made him recoil.
Fuck, fuck, fuck! Fix this, you moron!
"I-I mean--! That's not weird at all! It wouldn't be weird if I long for you--"
You ruined this. Good job, Eddie.
He stops himself from spewing spastically anymore. His grip tightens around the stem, his knuckles paling. Thankfully, you didn't gave him rose, otherwise his palm would've bled by now.
"Hey um... Don't beat yourself over it, it's whatever." You put a hand on his shoulder. "I was just... Anyways, I should've gotten straight to the point. Would you like to go out with me?"
... are you for real?
His face screamed confusion, causing you to giggle and affirm to him, "Yes, I'm sure. I mean... I gave you a flower that symbolises longing. It's okay if you don't feel the same, you can--"
"YES!"
His hand flew to his mouth.
Again, Edward?
"Yes. I'd love to go out with you. Very much. Please."
Calm yourself, you dumbass.
You clasped your hands together, pleased with his answer.
"Great! Coffee shop by Green Street later? About... Six thirty?
Not trusting his voice, he nods vigorously.
"Okay. I'll see you there."
Edward looked away, lifting the flower to his line of sight, his finger softly playing with the petals when he thought you already left. But then...
"Oh, almost forgot."
If he turned a little more, your lips would've met his lips. The pink in his face was replaced with red, spreading across his face and neck. Then, you were gone for real. His fingers hovers over the corner of his lips, still feeling the faint warmth your kiss radiated, how he can almost taste its sweetness. Then, a smile erupts from his lips that he tries to supress by biting it.
... Pink camellias... How long have you been longing for him?

do you think there is any significance that alex's colour scheme is green and pink? or do you think rr went "u know what this character needs? to look like a watermelon"
((Prefacing this by saying that I'm giving RR way too much credit here, but you shouldn't take anything an author does for granted— even a serial author who often makes blunders and mistakes.))
A while ago I saw a (pretty unfair) assumption that RR made it green and pink because blue and pink would be too obvious, but that his intention was obviously to reinforce the gender binary by using two distinctly gendered colors for a character with two distinct genders. Of course, they did not phrase it so delicately. No offense to whoever made that post, but I disagree.
Although that may have had to do with it, there's other things to consider. One of them is color symbolism. And oh. OH. I ADORE symbolism— especially flower/plant symbolism (Language of the Flowers and all that jazz), seasonal symbolism (there's a reason that evermore is my second favorite Taylor Swift album), and color symbolism.
GREEN
Let's talk about green first. Green can symbolize a lot of different things, and there are a few that can be applied to Alex's character. The most obvious thing that green often represents is jealousy— hence the expression "green with envy." But envy is not really one of Alex's character traits. Feel free to argue with me if you think that Alex is significantly envious. Just because I couldn't think of substantial textual evidence for it does not mean that there isn't any.
One of the traits that Alex does have is wealth. Green is the color of American currency, and since both RR and Alex are American, it's safe to take an American lens while looking at this color. Alex's socioeconomic background effects her in a big way. I mentioned in a previous post that I think that Alex's fatal flaw is her sense of entitlement. That kind of entitlement is a quality not exclusive to but common among the upper class. However, her distance from her wealthy background enhances the sense of irony in the story, which is a VERY big thing that we NEVER talk about within the fandom.
This is kind of a little thing, but it's worth noting that when it comes to Valhalla and everything, Alex is "green"— as in new and inexperienced.
The color green also emphasizes Alex's connection with nature. This is one of the parts of Alex's character that the fandom consistently underplays, which is an absolute shame. I don't think I have to explain why the color green is associated with all things natural. Alex's association with nature provides a few key things to her character:
It makes her a more well-rounded character. Another criticism of Alex I believe is totally unfounded is that "being genderfluid is her only personality trait because it influences her philosophy on pottery, which is her only hobby." I'm probably going to make another post in, like, a few minutes about why I find that argument a little silly, but the primary problem is that pottery is not Alex's only hobby. She also loves camping, hiking, and ice wall climbing (I bet y'all forgot about that last one!)
It gives her a connection with Magnus. I mentioned in a previous post that Magnus and Alex are foils, but I neglected to bring up why that also makes for very good chemistry between them. Of course, yes, they have different goals and philosophy, which is what makes them foils in the first place. But foil relationships function best when the characters also share some traits. As it turns out, Alex and Magnus share several hobbies, and one of them is a mutual love for nature. This is a very unexplored thing in fics. Start doing it more plz.
Finally, and this one's kind of minor, but the Alex's green gives her a connection to Natalie. I know, whenever Alex and Natalie are compared, either in canon or in fandom, everybody kind goes "eww. Oedipus complex." Which is very fair and true. But they really do have a lot of similarites. The green of Alex's hair and clothes connects her to the green of Natalie's eyes. It's worth saying, too, that Alex has one amber eye— and amber is pretty close to dirty blonde, like Natalie's hair.
If I had more faith in RR, I might bring up the concept of intextuality and how Alex wearing green is an allusion to The Great Gatsby and how Alex is elusive to Magnus, just like Daisy is to Gatsby. But I don't.
PINK
To give credit to the person who wrote the post I mentioned at the beginning of this spiel, I do believe that part of the reason pink was used was to support femininity. Please keep in mind that Alex dresses in an androgynous way— not that there is an actually "gendered" way to dress, since gender as we perceive it is mostly made up. But Alex's existence as a transfemme person (which I will maintain until my dying day) means that pink has a certain significance to her. A lot of AMAB people embrace traditionally feminine things because if they don't, they will not be accepted as genuine women or genuine nonbinary folks, since masculine dress is unisex and kind of the default. So Alex wearing pink probably had something to do with her gender, yes. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, and it's certainly not an unrealistic thing.
Speaking of Alex's gender in relation to the color pink, let's talk about pink's use as a queer rights symbol. Alex was RR's first character to be introduced as a queer character from the start. This was not an insignificant thing, especially in the year of our Lord 2016 (which, despite popular belief, seriously had an entirely different landscape of queer rep. Though it's commonplace now to include genderqueer characters, it was exceptional at the time— especially by such an accomplished and mainstream children's author.).
Let's go back in time to Nazi Germany. Some of you might know this, but for those of you don't this transition must seem jarring. I swear there's a point. In addition to Jews, Romani individuals, people with disabilities, and Poles (among others), gay men were victimized by the Nazis. If you're wondering why lesbians weren't persecuted, it's because the Nazis didn't see them as a serious political threat, or as a threat to the perpetuation of the Aryan race since they assumed gay women could be forcefully impregnated if need be. Yeah, ew. Anyway, much like the Star of David being used to mark Jewish people, gay men were forced into concentration camps and forced to wear a pink triangle. Years later, after the gay population somewhat recovered, the pink triangle was reclaimed and used as a symbol for gay men. Some people who were not gay men used it, too, but that's somewhat controversial since it wasn't their symbol to reclaim. When the first pride flag was created, it had a pink stripe at the top to signify sex (this was later dropped so flags could be more easily produced). The pink triangle (inverted) was used during the AIDs epidemic with the caption "Silence=Death."
My point is that this is a very important color to queer folks. Having one of the first genderfluid characters in kid's lit wear pink...... I mean, it makes sense.
The last and final thing that pink represents, in this context and in general, is innocence. Granted, this kind of connects to feminitity since women (especially white women) are often infantalized and seen as innocent— which is another issue. In any case, the use of pink to represent innocence in Alex's dress is ironic. Alex has been robbed of her childhood innocence, first by her abusive parents, then by her life on the streets, and then by her eventual death at age sixteen. But then she actually regains her innocence. At the beginning of the—
Hold on. I just had a revelation. I'll make a post about it soon.
At the beginning of SotD, Alex is acting a little childish. The most obvious example is him jumping on Randolph's bed to "make noise." Alex's life is stable and relatively healthy for the first time in the years, and she experiences something that a lot of queer folks experience: a re-emergence of childhood at a late stage.
I imagine you didn't expect a post this long. I either make essay responses to asks or I add on one sentence and post it. Oops. Anyway, I believe the mcga fandom can be more creative than calling Alex a watermelon. Here are some other (kinda romantic) pink-and-green alternatives:
Roses
Dragonfruit
Grapefruit
Cherry blossom trees
#mcga#magnus chase#alex fierro#mcatgoa#magnus chase and the gods of asgard#sorry for the long response lol#thanks for the ask! I had a go of it!

So, as I promised, Inarizaki New Year request. Inarizaki boys and manager make party at her place, they prepare dinner, decorate the Christmas tree and her home (twins hang the mistletoe everywhere, but manager-chan is clueless so she doesn't know about kissing tradition), exchange gifts, have sleepover etc. Next day they all go together to the shrine and all boys ask to marry her. And they are EMBARRASSED when manager asks them what they ask.
Ahhh Tilli my love! I'll finally use this as a Christmas and New year one combined (eventho they've both passed a long time ago :) and this will be the final addition to the Inarizaki December series!
Once again, thank you so much for supporting me through it all, and showering love on every day's imagine. I didn't expect to get 100-200 notes on some days, but I did!! And I'm really ever so grateful. I hope you'll stay tuned :D
-
Inarizaki's manager-chan day 25!!
Late merry Christmas!! 💖 (And happy new year)
☃️
It was finally the seventh day of Christmas.
The day everyone looked forward to, filled with so much cheer and joy. The boys couldn't wait to spend it at your house. (They couldn't spend the actual day of Christmas with you, due to clashes in the schedule), but that's okay. They were here now.
It was unorthodox, to decorate the tree and give gifts days after the 25th, but it didn't matter to you, and if it didn't matter to you, it didn't matter to the boys either.
The house was warm, and you were busy baking cookies. The smell of gingerbread and peppermint floated in the air. Suna snuck up behind you and took a dab of the cookie mixture. “I rate this a 10/10”
Kita glared at him. “Suna that wasn't very hygienic” which only caused you to laugh.
Christmas carols were playing from the small Bluetooth speaker near the tree, and you suddenly felt like dancing. After wiping your hands dry and shutting the oven so the cookies could bake, you pulled Kita to you and placed your hands on his shoulder.
“Dance with me, Kita-san”
His eyes sparkled as his cheeks heated up.
“Of course, my lady.”
And the rest of the members watched enviously as you spun around with Kita in tow. You looked gorgeous, and so undeniably happy.
“My turn!” said Atsumu indignantly as he replaced Kita. He pulled your waist closer to him as he picked you up and twirled you around. Your squeals made his heart beat faster as he gently let you go.
“That's enough dancing for one day, now go decorate the tree or something. These cookies will be done soon and me and y/n need to decorate them.” said the gray haired twin.
The boys nodded as they made their way to the big tree in the living room, whilst you were left alone in the kitchen with Osamu.
Osamu swiped a bit of frosting on your cheek and laughed, as he put on the oven mitts, readying himself to take the cookies out of the oven.
You laughed and licked the frosting off.
Damn. Osamu's brain almost short-circuited, but he pushed such thoughts out of his mind and instead focused on the cookies.
“How shall we ice them?”
You mixed food colouring into the frosting bowls and explained you wanted to ice them according to each of the members.
“We'll use white for Kita! Since he's so dedicated and wonderful, white suits him best. And green for Tsumu, because he makes me feel happy and fresh inside.”
Osamu nodded with a small smile. “And what about me?”
“Purple for you, because I feel comfortable with you, you're basically my home. And red for Rin, because red is a sleepy colour, and I just love napping on his lap.”
“Oh and blue for Aran! He makes me feel safe inside. Orange for Akagi, he's such a cheerful person, he's like my very own sunshine.”
Osamu blushed and stroked your cheek gently. “You're my little home too, ya know that? I'm icing yours pink.”
Pink for the way you make me blush, my love.
You beamed at him and began icing the cookies, delicately and carefully, whilst Osamu iced the other half.
-
The rest of the boys finished decorating the tree as they took a step back to admire their work.
Suna gently adjusted the baubles, before taking a few pictures. He wanted to capture this moment forever.
Suddenly, you and Osamu came to the room with a mixture of cookies and a few mugs of hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Akagi smiled as he placed a kiss on your cheek before snagging a cookie. “Aww you guys are the best, thank you!”
The snow slowly fell outside, as the tree sparkled proudly in the center of the living room.
“Hey we still need to put the angel on top!”
Atsumu jokingly picked you up in his arms “we have one right here, shall I put her on top of the tree?”
The boys laughed as they passed you the tiny angel figurine. “we can't reach it anyways, why don't you put it instead?" Said Aran with a small smile.
Atsumu lifted you up gently as you placed the angel on the top of the tree, completing the decoration process.
“Thanks, you guys are amazing. I'm so lucky to have you.”
Your words were met with a chorus of "I love you's" and "me too's"
And you laughed, as Atsumu pulled you closer to him.
“Tsumu, you can put her down now” said a disgruntled Osamu.
-
[ 2 hours earlier ]
Osamu: have you placed the mistletoe in random spots?
Atsumu: yes, what about you?
Osamu: yeah, but I've kept one in my pocket. I'll just put it up whenever we're alone and it show to her.
Atsumu: damn that's so smart, why didn't I think of that? :(
Osamu: cuz yer' stupid.
Atsumu: >:(
-
[present time]
You and the boys play tons of games in the living room, and stash their gifts underneath the tree too.
“Let's open then tomorrow morning! We'll sleep in here too, and it will be fun to open them as soon as we wake up.” you say happily.
Suna leans on your shoulder throughout the evening, and soon his head makes its way to your lap, as usual.
You laugh and ruffle his hair, as he looks up at you breathlessly. You're so beautiful to him. So undeniably gorgeous. Atsumu wasn't lying when he called you an angel.
Suna's pupils dilated as he stared into your eyes. “I love you, y/n”
Not hearing the sincerity and hidden meaning behind his words, you replied with a quick “I love you too, Rin-rin”
And frankly, even if you didn't know how much he truly meant it, it didn't matter. He'd make sure you did, someday.
-
The plate of cookies were left with only crumbs and the mugs were all empty.
The next part of the night was dinner, and since Kita was the only one who could drive, he'd take you out to pick it up.
“Let's go Y/n-san” said Kita, as a tired Suna whined when he had to lose your lap-pillow.
You nodded and followed him, fastening the seatbelt in the passengers seat as you winked at the boys. “Be good while we're gone, okay?”
Kita turned up the radio. It was a song he didn't particularly like, but you seemed to love. However, you switched the radio off.
“Y/n-san, don't you like this song? Why did you change it?”
“Because you don't like it, Kita-san, and I want to talk to you. Your voice is better than any song.” was your simple reply.
No beating around the bush, you were ever so straightforward, and yet it made Kita's heart beat faster.
“so what would you like to talk about?”
And it started from there. A car-ride filled with the voices of the both of you.
At the traffic light, Kita gave you a sideways glance as he saw your excited expression talking about the cookies you baked.
But frankly he wasn't listening anymore. he was admiring the way your eyes shone in delight, and your cheeks as they were pink from the cold. He smiled at the way your face seemed to light up, and at the beautiful smile etched into it.
And Kita found that beautiful.
“It was delicious, right? And the frosting was beautiful too?” you finished excitedly, by asking him.
“she really is beautiful” said Kita in a trance, as the light turned red and he snapped out of it.
“I mean, yes, the frosting was beautiful!”

After picking up a bucket of KFC, as it's traditionally eaten to celebrate Christmas, the boys greeted you at the door.
“Mom and dad are home” joked Akagi.
“Oh my, so that means y/n's our mommy?” said Atsumu seductively, which earned him a sharp kick from Osamu. “Hey Tsumu, shut the hell up.”
The table was set and filled with cheer and banter from all sides, as Akagi sat next to you, and plated everything out.
You sighed happily. Truthfully, you weren't aware of traditions in Japan, since you were new to the country, but the boys taught you every day. It was Osamu who informed you that people in Japan ate their Christmas dinners at KFC.
“It's kinda like a tradition here” he said, with a small shrug. And you were determined to stick to those traditions.
“Are there any other traditions you practice, here? During Christmas?” you asked, in between bites.
Atsumu smirked at you and held up a small plant. “This is called mistletoe, but I won't tell you what the tradition related to it is”
You were confused, because all the other boys had suddenly turned red, and no matter how much you asked them, they refused to tell you what the significance of mistletoe was.
“Hmm, weird” you said softly, as you finished dinner, and brought your plate to the kitchen to be washed.
As you walked out, you noticed a small sprig of mistletoe above you, and a tall presence looming over you...
-
[ hello!! This is route time!! There are six members which I have written mistletoe routes for, and the corresponding colours will be for each member, so read whichever you want to!!]
(pink is the general route. no matter which route you choose, the new year's day story will continue with the general route, so please keep that in mind.)
-
Kita
Osamu
Aran
Atsumu
Akagi
Suna
-
You looked up and saw Akagi, and he had a bunch of other dishes in his hands. “I've lost a bet, so they've made me wash their dishes”
Atsumu's gleeful voice could be heard as he egged his senpai on. “make sure they're spotless, Akagi!”
You took half of the plates from Akagi kindly and assured him you'd help him.
“my hands are wet anyways. It'd be a bother to dry them after washing only one plate”
“T-thanks” he stuttered softly.
-
As you and Akagi washed the plates side by side, he felt a slight tug in his chest. It felt so domestic, to come home to you, hug you in his arms, and do the most mundane of tasks with you, like washing the dishes like this.
He wouldn't mind anything, honestly. As long as he was with you, the most grueling of chores would become fun.
And as he saw your brows furrowed in concentration, he sighed. You looked ever so adorable like that.
“Y/n-chan, I don't know if I've told you this yet, but you look very beautiful today.”
It took a lot of courage. Everyone saw him as a jokester, a perpetually happy person, but with you he wanted to be different.
He wanted you to know that when he complimented you like that, he wasn't joking. Not the least bit.
A soft tint could be seen on your cheeks as you continued washing the plates. “why thank you, Akagi. You look really nice too ”
And somehow, with that one compliment, you made Akagi happier than he had ever been.
The kitchen was filled with comfortable silence, and you appreciated the presence of the tall raven-haired libero who stood next to you, as he swore this scene would repeat itself in the future, someday, but with you as his girl.
-
The late dinner left everyone in a lazy mood, and although the Bluetooth speakers played more music, it became softer, more calm, and everyone felt ready to sleep.
The sleeping bags were arranged in the living room, in a small semicircle as you laid yours next to Atsumu.
“I didn't want to be alone in my room, knowing you guys were just outside, so I hope you don't mind if I slept here too” you said with a small blush.
The boys were overjoyed and eagerly made more space for you.
“I hope it won't be uncomfortable for you, y/n-san.”
You shook your head and settled into the sleeping back. “thank you for the concern, Kita-san, but you guys are here! how could I possibly be uncomfortable at all?”
You laid down in your sleeping bag as Aran leaned over to switch the lights off.
“Big day tomorrow. Let's all get some rest.”
A silent exchange of "goodnight's" was all you could hear, before complete silence, signalling their exhaustion.
But Atsumu, who was laying down next you was far from asleep.
He turned to the side to face you, his eyes reflecting the moonlight beautifully.
“I'm cold” you whispered, as you shifted in your sleeping bag uncomfortably. Atsumu's heart started beating uncontrollably as he made space in his own sleeping bag for you.
“Let's cuddle. Body heat is still heat, right beautiful?”
You smiled gratefully as you slipped in next to him, and his arms wrapped around you protectively.
His mind began to wander, and like Akagi, he wondered if he could get used to this. To coming home after a hard day and slipping into bed with you.
To keeping you warm on cold nights, and holding you if you had a nightmare.
As his fingers gently stroked through your hair, you sighed softly and cuddled closer to his chest in a dream-like state.
You had fallen asleep in his arms, just like he had dreamt for so often, and he couldn't wait till he'd be able to have you with him every single night.
Every single night for the rest of forever. Atsumu wanted to spend every single one of them with you.
He smiled softly as he observed your sleeping features before pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“You'll truly be the death of me, y/n”
-
You awoke many times in the middle of the night, but with Atsumu's firm grip on you, and his comforting body heat, you had no trouble falling back asleep again.
Soon, sunlight began to stream through the windows and the small beams of light slowly caused you to wake up.
The boys were all still asleep, so you gently pried yourself off Atsumu, gave him a gentle kiss to his cheek, and tip-toed to the kitchen, to make breakfast.
Aran, who had incredibly sensitive ears, heard the shift of the fridge door, and woke up. In a groggy-like state, he walked over to you and hugged you from behind.
“good morning” he whispered softly. “can I help you with breakfast?”
Although he wasn't naturally a cook, your patient instructions and kindness proved to be all he needed, and the two of you made a pile of pancakes, drizzled in maple syrup.
By now, the rest of the boys were also awake, they were better than greyhounds when it came to sniffing out food you've made.
But as Aran helped you around the kitchen, he couldn't focus on the others. He couldn't focus on anyone but you.
You, with your messy hair and half lidded eyes. With your low morning voice and small smile. You were so comfortable being yourself, and he really was glad.
Morning-y/n, the y/n only they got to see this morning, was pretty darn adorable. And he wanted her to know that.
“you're so cute when you're still half asleep, ya know?”
Although his voice has a teasing edge, a ring of laughter behind it, Aran wanted you to know that.
“aww thanks Aran, I like your morning voice too” you said with a dopey smile, as your flipped another pancake.
Suna stole one from off the plate and nibbled on it “I rate this a 10/10 too”
“Oh no Kita's glaring at me. I never tasted it in the first place”
-
After breakfast, presents, tons of hugs, and an outfit change later, the Shrine came into view. It was the first day of the new year, and as per the tradition of praying at the shrines for good luck, you and the team were heading there to welcome the new year with hopes and dreams.
“So, you have to clap twice, and wish for whatever it is your head desires for this year” said Akagi with a smile.
The rest of the boys had their eyes screwed shut, as they prayed for their deepest desire; to marry you someday.
Your wish was not so different either. “I wish to be able to be by their sides forever. For their good health, happiness, and safety. I love them.”
As you laid your eyes on their figures, hunched over the shrine, you swore you would do anything to make your wish a reality.
“I love you guys. Happy new year.!!”

Valentine’s fic :)
Relationships: Hank Anderson & Connor
Characters: Connor, Hank Anderson
Tags: Valentine’s Day, Hurt/Comfort, Injury, Crime scene, Murder, Fluff, platonic love
Summary: Connor misunderstands Valentine’s Day and assumes it is only for romantic partners. Hank makes sure to teach him about the importance of platonic love.
Read it on AO3! Or, read below!
As a deviant, Connor was particularly invested in trying out human holidays. Halloween had been scary but fun. Thanksgiving, not so much, given that he couldn’t eat any of the delicious food being prepared. (Android food was still very much in the works.) Christmas, however, had become his entire personality for the month of December. He just loved it. The colours, the snow, the gift-giving, the tinsel…
Tinsel…
Connor blinked, shaking his head, snapping out of it. He couldn’t get side-lined by tinsel right now. He hadn’t the time.
No, he was currently trying to figure out the human holiday that had managed to elude him until the day of its celebration. February 14th, Valentine’s Day.
It was by no means so great of a festival as Christmas or the likes, but as he walked into work that day, everybody seemed to be making a fuss. Red and pink heart bunting had been strapped to the walls, and the clunky coffee machine was even dolled up for the occasion. He frowned, LED blinking yellow as he quickly researched the holiday. It seemed simple. A celebration of love, where couples traditionally gave each other gifts.
He shrugged. Didn’t seem like he could take part, but that was fine. Not every festival was for him, and he was okay with it.
Except, as he worked at his desk, occasionally seeing people kissing, giving each other gifts of chocolates or flowers or over-sized teddy bears, he couldn’t deny his lack of participation was affecting him. Hank seemed like he thoroughly didn’t give a fuck from the other side of the desk. He envied him.
“Lieutenant?”
“Yeah?”
“What is Valentine’s day? I… can’t seem to understand it.”
“It’s nothin’. Just an overcommercialised day where people buy each other overpriced shit.”
“Oh… Okay, sorry.”
Hank raised a brow, pausing his work. “Why, were you interested in it?”
“Me? Interested in… no, no, of course not. I was just curious. I always love learning more about human traditions.”
“Uh huh. Uh huh. So that’s why you’ve been envying that huge fuckin’ stuffed koala over there for the past ten minutes?”
“No…”
Hank sighed. “Look, don’t worry about it, alright? If you want to celebrate it, you can.”
Connor chuckled. “I believe I’m missing a vital component for that to work.”
“Uh… I don’t follow, Con.”
“A partner.”
“Oh. Why do you need one of those?”
Connor threw up his hands, gesturing around them. “Humans celebrate this day with their romantic partner, or partners. I lack the requirements.”
“Yeah, it is about love. But there’s more than one type of love.”
Connor tilted his head, curious. “What is—”
Unfortunately, their conversation was cut short as Fowler poked his head out of the office, clicking his fingers. “You two, enough chat. I’ve got a scene you need to investigate.”
************************************
The crime scene was a murder, grisly and brutal. An android stabbed to death. Not quite 28 times, but near enough.
Connor didn’t need to sample the crudely drawn blue heart on the wall to know that it was the victim’s blood.
“Fucked up.” Hank remarked as he came to stand beside Connor. “You got a motive?”
“Nothing concrete, but I have an idea… I believe this links to the holiday today.”
“Yeah, no shit. But what is it? You think the killer knew the victim, or was it spontaneous?”
“I…” He glanced around the scene once more. “Nothing broken. Not even the door. Barely any signs of a struggle, aside from beside this wall… I think the killer knew the victim.”
“Right.” Hank shuddered. “Shame we couldn’t get a hold of the murder weapon.”
Connor nodded, kneeling down to look at the body more closely. From the marks on the chest, it seemed the blood on the wall had been taken from here. Right from the thirium pump. There was… a lot of it.
“Hold on…” He brought his finger to the blood, frowning. On closer inspection, the thirium pump had been shattered. He tasted it, and two samples came up. Two androids.
“Found something? Or did you just feel like doing that?”
“I did find something. I believe this was a crime with the motive of anger. The thirium pump is shattered. The suspect, too fuelled by their emotions to think of the consequences, broke their hand on the thirium pump.”
“Wait—wouldn’t they have been wearing gloves?”
“No. Remember, androids don’t have fingerprints. And I don’t believe this was planned.”
Hank nodded, frowning. “Seems to line up with the evidence.”
“Indeed. I’ve sent the identity of the suspect back to the DPD. However, they couldn’t have gone far. The body is only hours old. Perhaps, we should…”
“Alright, we can follow it up. Come on.”
************************************
It wasn’t difficult to locate the suspect, especially with the faint thirium trail they’d left behind that had yet to evaporate. Stopping the car outside an abandoned building, the duo got out, Hank leading with a gun at his side.
“You sure she’s in here?”
“Positive. I can confirm there’s definitely an android in the building.”
“Alright. Stand back…” Hank hammered on the door. “Detroit Police!”
As usual, it didn’t work. There was the sound of crashing inside, however, nowhere to go. The suspect had chosen such a bad hiding spot that it had no windows and no other exits. By the time they’d realised this, Hank had broken down the door.
Stepping by his side, Connor watched as the suspect turned to face them. He could see the evidence of thirium splattered all over her neck and face, and could calculate that her stress levels were very high.
“Please, come with us, we just need to bring you in for questioning.”
“Save it.” She spat. “I know what you want. I know you know that I did it.”
Oh. It was unusual for a suspect to give themselves up so easily.
“The murder of Maria Jones?”
“Don’t use that name. Don’t use my name. They don’t deserve it.”
“Look,” Hank stepped forwards, “it’ll be much easier for everyone if you—”
“GET DOWN!”
Within moments, the suspect had pulled out a gun, aimed straight between Hank’s eyes. Connor crashed into his side, knocking him out of harm’s way, earning a bullet through his leg for it. He groaned, crashing to the floor beside the Lieutenant.
The suspect looked down at them for a moment, shaking her head. “The only answer you’ll get from me is this: they deserved it.” Before she ran out of the open door behind them.
“Jesus, I think backup’ll get her, but… Damn. You always save me, Con.” Hank chuckled, pulling himself to his knees. “Maybe I should—”
He stopped as he saw Connor hadn’t moved. His gaze trailed down, seeing the blue blood pooling around his leg.
“CONNOR!” He grabbed for his radio, quickly informing them of the situation. “Officer down. We got an officer down. It’s Connor, please, get the techs here.”
After that he tossed the radio aside, moving to Connor and checking his LED. Bright red and pulsing, but on. Alive. Not grey. Not—
He shook his head. Connor was okay. He’d be alright. Now he noticed, he was probably unconscious because he’d hit his head on the way down. So long as he could find something to stem the flow of the bleeding, they’d be okay.
************************************
Connor awoke to the quiet scuffle of shoes on polished floors, and deep, heavy breathing. Prying his eyes open, he saw a familiar white ceiling, felt the rough cotton of sheets, and—
Of course. The repair facility by the station. He’d seen the inside of this place a few too many times.
That explained the ceiling, the noise of shoes, the busy techs at work. But the breathing…
He brought his head to the side. Hank sat slumped over in a plastic chair beside him. Connor smiled, tried to reach out before groaning, the movement pulling a muted pain in his leg.
Right. He’d… Something had happened. But all he could recall through the fuzzy haze was Valentine’s Day.
“H’nk?”
The breathing stopped, then picked up in pace as Hank scrambled to a sitting position.
“Hm? Huh? Oh, Con, you’re awake. Thank god.”
“I…”
“You probably don’t remember everything right now, huh?”
He shook his head.
“Yeah, you got shot. Second time this year.” Hank narrowed his eyes. “I’d berate you, but since you did it to save my life and I think that would be morally reprehensible…”
Connor chuckled. “Yeah… What… you?”
“Me? Fuck, you’re asking if I’m okay again, aren’t you? You always do, little shit… Yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine.” Noticing the way Connor’s eyes were starting to droop again, he patted his arm. “It’s alright. Get some rest. I’ll promise not to wake you up with my snoring again.”
************************************
Due to the efficient nature of an android’s self-repair systems, it was late the next day when Connor was released from the repair unit. Still a little groggy and with orders to be on leave from work for the next week, he slept most of the ride back.
However, as he stumbled back into the house, he noticed something… different. Pink decorations strung up, and something large and fluffy sitting on the couch that wasn’t Sumo.
“Surprise.” Hank chuckled. “Got this set up when the docs forced me to go home last night.”
“It’s…” Connor blinked, swaying on his feet, before making his way to sit on the couch beside the… “A giant sloth?”
“Yeah, plush one. Couldn’t find a koala, sorry.”
“No, I… I don’t mind. Is it for me?”
“Yeah, course it is.”
He looked around him at the heart-shaped decorations. “What are those for?”
“Valentine’s Day?”
“That was yesterday, Hank.”
“I know. But you never got to celebrate it and…”
Connor smiled. “I appreciate the gesture. But as I said before, I don’t have a romantic partner. You don’t have to feel bad for—”
“No. Alright? This is for you.” Hank sat across from him. “It’s from me and Sumo. This isn’t romance. But it’s still love.”
“Non-romantic… love?”
“Yeah. Tried to tell you yesterday, but there’s more than one type of love. Can’t remember them all of the top of my head… But there’s, uh, platonic. Familial. Yeah. Lots of other types. And if you want a day to celebrate love, then you’ve got to celebrate all types of it.”
“Oh. I… I didn’t know.” He smiled. “So that means I can have this sloth? I thought you said it was a day where people bought each other overpriced shit?”
“Hey, I’d buy you overpriced shit any day if it put a smile on your face.”
Connor chuckled, bringing the sloth onto his lap and patting its head. “Cool. Thanks. I think I’ll call him… Bailey. But—wait. I haven’t got you anything!”
“Connor, I think you’re forgetting something.”
“No, no, it’s okay… I can run to the store.”
“You saved my life yesterday. Ring any bells?”
“Oh. Of course. I forgot.”
“Fuck, only you would forget that. Now, uh, happy Valentine’s?”
“You too, Hank.”
“Alright. Well, I’m going to take a shower. Watch out for your sloth. Sumo might get jealous.”

Lucien 贪恋 SP Date
Reposted from my instagram account, @mlqc_translations!
Chapter 1
The inside of the traditionally styled room was warm and dry.
I changed into a yukata and sat down on the tatami, taking a deep breath as I tapped the news notification on my phone-- "The announcement of the Kelawo award list has been postponed. Can the genius scientist Lucien Xu become the youngest winner in history?" The large bolded words on the news notification were dark and obvious. ......Postponed? I paused, surprised, and then immediately tapped on the notification to find out more. "...Today, the most renowned award of the scientific realm--the Kelawo Life Science Award, is about to release their winners list. This caught many people's attention both nationally and internationally." "Scientist Professor Lucien Xu's innovative work in the neuroscience department has convinced many to clamour for his nomination." "However, according to the information disclosed, the requirements for this year has changed, and there may be strong competitors in the mix." "The Kelawo Award Committee has also recently announced that, since the opinions of the judges were divided, the release of award list will be delayed until this afternoon today..." I swiped through the news article, wrinkling my brow more and more as I scrolled down. I was so focused on my phone that I didn't notice someone walking towards me. ??: Why are you still looking at the news?
Lucien spoke as he covered my bare legs with a blanket, his gaze sweeping over the screen of my phone. Lucien: You said you invited me to go on this vacation so I could relax and forget about my work... Lucien: But you've been staring at your phone this whole time. He paused, and he looked slightly dejected and sad. Lucien: Does the Professor Lucien in the news appeal more to you than the one in real life? I was momentarily dumbfounded, and then quickly turned off my phone. MC: Of course not! I just...coincidentally came across this news article. I accidentally tapped on it. MC: And...I was mostly looking at the weather report anyways. I widened my eyes in an attempt to seem more convincing. MC: Look, it's snowing so much today. The Innkeeper even suggested that we try the hot springs another time... MC: But according to the weather report, it might stop snowing later. So we might still be able to try it out today! Lucien was silent for a second, and then let out a soft chuckle, nodding his head. Lucien: Mn, it looks like I misunderstood. I didn't think you'd be so thoughtful and considerate. MC: Of course I have to be! It's rare that we both have time off. I was looking forwards to this vacation a lot. It was the truth. In the past few days, Lucien and I were both so busy that we didn't even have time to share a meal together. That's why I chose a hot springs resort. I wanted to stay with Lucien in a room together, relaxing and spending our time with each other peacefully. I raised my head and took Lucien's hand. MC: You've been so busy with your research these past few weeks. You haven't been resting well. MC: Leave the traveling planning and arrangements to me. Your only job is to relax and enjoy the vacation. Lucien: Alright. The corners of his mouth turned up in a faint smile. The sunlight streaming through the window landed on him, coating his body in a soft glow. Lucien: Then...I'll leave it all to you? MC: Yep! Leave it to me. I glanced at the time on my phone, and an idea popped into my head. I raised my head and spoke to Lucien. MC: Since the luggage has all been unpacked and put away, you can go change now! Lucien nodded and walked towards the door. I took this opportunity to pick up my phone secretly, planning to finish reading the news article I just closed. Lucien: Oh, and one more thing. MC: W-What is it? I didn't expect Lucien to turn around and scrambled to hide the phone behind my back. Lucien's gaze flicked back and forth between the phone and my face. He seemed to have something to say, but he just gave a soft chuckle. Lucien: Nothing much, I just wanted to tell you...
Lucien: I'm also looking forwards to this vacation with you a lot.
Chapter 2
While Lucien was changing, I quietly sneaked out, waiting by the door. As expected, an attendant came walking in my direction, holding a rectangular wooden box in her hands. Attendant: Miss, the hotel owner's wife asked me to bring this to you. Attendant: As for the other package you ordered...we express our apologies. Since the product has to be made fresh, we tried to send a driver to pick it up just now, but it's snowing too heavily for them to get down the mountain. MC: That's okay. Thank you for your hard work. Please give my thanks to the owner's wife. I took the box from her and returned to the room, my heart overwhelmed with a flurry of complicated emotions. This is the gift I prepared before we even set off for the resort. I had originally planned to surprise Lucien with it when the Kelawo award results are announced. I was not expecting the award requirements to change. The Kelawo Award announcements were postponed, and my carefully devised plan was disrupted. I stared at the box in my hands, and the thought of a result that I've never expected before appeared in my mind. What if...... My heart sank. Now, I wasn't even sure if this celebration could happen at all... Lucien: What are you thinking about? I turned towards the direction of his voice, and then froze. Lucien was wearing a dark-coloured yukata. The loose collar of the clothing exposed his chest and collarbones. He leaned against the doorframe, looking more casual and relaxed compared to his normal state. His gaze found the wooden box in my hands, and I could see a hint of curiosity in his expression. Lucien: What's that? MC: Um, this...... I searched my mind for a proper explanation. Just then, his phone rang and our conversation was interrupted. Lucien looked at the glowing screen of his phone and wrinkled his brow slightly. After a brief pause, he answered the call. Lucien: Hello? Lucien: ......Yes. His tone was light, but his expression grew serious. The news article from before flashed through my head, and I couldn't help feeling a bit anxious. Lucien: My apologies, I'm on vacation right now. I'm afraid I don't have time for that. Lucien: I look forward to working with you next time. His voice was calm and soft, and he immediately hung up after that sentence. I was caught off guard by the swift action. I looked at him quizzically. Before I could say anything else, Lucien spoke up. Lucien: It's from HuanQiu News. I widened my eyes. HuanQiu News is a well-known weekly magazine in China that mainly reports international issues and major events. It has great influence and fame. MC: And they want to work with you? Lucien: Yeah, they want to interview me. MC: Wow, really? That's great! I felt relieved when I heard that it wasn't the bad news I was expecting, and set the box down on the table beside me. MC: It's such an influential magazine. If you accept their invitation, you can let more people know about your research results. Lucien looked at me, surprised, and then the corners of his mouth turned up slightly. Lucien: Why do you want more people to know? MC: Because......I think...for most people, your research results are just a string of boring, meaningless scientific terms. MC: But I know, you put a lot of work and effort into it. MC: Even if you have the title of "Genius Scientist," your determination and perseverance is no less than anyone else. The memories of the time I spent beside him flashed through my head as I spoke. Because of some small data error, he would have to put the papers of his experiment report--that he spent months working on--into the shredder one by one; He would be unable to hide his joy if he got the desired results for his experiment, even suggesting--somewhat childishly--that we go for a movie to celebrate the occasion. I smiled at Lucien and spoke to him in a lighthearted, playful tone. MC: So, I want you to be rewarded for your efforts...that's probably my only wish. My only selfish wish. Lucien stared at me quietly, and a soft, gentle emotion seemed to slowly melt in his eyes. After a while, he gave a quiet laugh and smiled in resignation. Lucien: Dummy. He reached out and gathered me into his arms. Lucien: I declined their invitation. MC: Huh? Why? Lucien didn't answer, and instead, gave a soft chuckle. Lucien: Do you want to know what my selfish wish is? Lucien: You always joke that my time and energy is endless and never used up, but that's not true. They have their limits, too. Lucien: It's just that, I need to save them up and use it all on the person who's most important to me. He paused, gently rubbing the top of my head with his chin. Lucien: This is our vacation. I want to spend it with you, and you alone. I could feel his familiar body temperature on my skin. It felt as if his warmth was slowly seeping into my heart. I couldn't help but wrap my arms around Lucien, wanting to be closer to him and wishing the moment could last longer. MC: Yeah, me too. My gaze landed on the wooden box on the table. I closed my eyes and came to a decision.
MC: Lucien, the belt of your yukata seems to be a little loose. I noticed that the strip of fabric at his waist wasn't tight enough, and subconsciously reached out to help him fix it. MC: Hmm...this doesn't seem to work either...... MC: I'll just help you redo the knot! I untied Lucien's belt, planning to redo it for him. Lucien: It looks like you're very experienced with this. I heard the faint trace of a smile in his voice. I raised my head and met his gaze. Only then did I realize how close and intimate we were. MC: I-I'm not really experienced. It's just that I learned a bit from the attendant when she helped me put my yukata on. MC: Plus, the way girls wear yukata is more complicated than the way guys do. So, tying your belt...it's not very hard for me. I lowered my head, trying to hide my blushing cheeks. Lucien: I see. He nodded and then spread out his arms, allowing me to retie the belt. I tried to concentrate on the task at hand, but the breathing at my neck made it hard to focus. The atmosphere was filled with an indescribable feeling. I pressed my lips together, and when I was about to say something, Lucien spoke. Lucien: I didn't notice before now, but there's a few sentences written on that hanging painting over there. MC: Eh? I raised my head and followed his gaze to the wall behind me. A traditionally styled painting was hanging there. Bright red leaves floated down and landed on the clear spring water. They looked like the flames of a raging fire, dyeing the water around it red with warmth and passion. I hadn't paid much attention to it when I first entered the room. Now that I looked at it carefully, I realized that there really were words written there. I was about to examine the sentences, but Lucien beat me to it and read them out loud. Lucien: "The matters of the gods, never concern the humans." Lucien: "The maple dyes the river red, the flowing waters run deep..."
(I’ll leave the original sentence here, since this is a poem and I might have made some translation errors: 悠悠神代事, 黯黯不曾闻, 枫染龙田川, 潺潺流水深)
MC: I think I've seen these phrases before... MC: Is it from that really famous love song? I turned to look at Lucien quizzically, and he nodded. Lucien: Well, it's definitely filled with lots of emotion. Lucien: I think it's probably here to set the mood for Valentine's Day. That's why the wife of the owner put it here. Lucien: And if you look at the writing...it seems it was added not too long ago. I studied the painting again after Lucien's comment. MC: I didn't expect the owner of this hotel to be so considerate and attentive. It looks like a normal painting if you don't examine it carefully... MC: There was a hidden meaning all along... I tried to feel the emotions hidden in the lines and strokes of the painting. This piece of art, originally just used as a normal hanging painting, now had depth and concealed meaning thanks to the added sentences. My attention was all on the painting when I heard a voice by my ear. Lucien: It looks quite beautiful... Lucien: But, aren't you forgetting something? His gaze landed on the belt in my hands. I realized I still didn't finish tying Lucien's yukata. The fabric was draped loosely over his body. The low neckline fell even lower, and more of his chest was exposed. My face grew even warmer. MC: ...I'll finish it now! I tried to ignore my quickening heartbeat and finished tying Lucien's belt. When I was done, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. I raised my hand to try and fix the low neckline of the yukata, but to my surprise, I discovered that it was just designed that way. MC: Was, was this neckline always so low?
My voice was quiet. Lucien looked down at his yukata, and then a smile of understanding spread across his face. Lucien: Yes, that's how it was when I first put it on. Lucien: I'm pretty sure all men's yukatas here are in this style. MC: That's strange, I think I remember seeing a different type of yukata on the official website... MC: Unless...this is also part of "setting the mood" for Valentine's Day? In order to cover up my flustered feelings, I spoke in a joking tone. Lucien gave a soft laugh, going along with my jokes. Lucien: Yeah, that's possible. He blinked and seemed to think of something. He bent down, leaning close to my ear, and spoke to me in a soft voice. Lucien: I think... Lucien: This counts as setting the mood as well.
Chapter 3
Lucien and I sat opposite to each other on the tatami. He took the sake out of the wooden box and uncorked the bottle, pouring its contents into two cups. Lucien: So this is why you were talking with the owner's wife today... Lucien: Is there a reason for this sudden surprise gift? I answered him calmly, trying to hide my nervousness and anxiety. MC: It's not really sudden, just part of the series of things I planned for this trip... MC: Just think of it as a reward for your past months of hard work! I tried to steer the conversation away from this topic and pointed at the sake cup, gesturing at him invitingly. MC: Apparently, this kind of sake is very popular here. I was afraid that it would be all sold out by the time we arrived, so I ordered it half a month in advance! Lucien's eyes filled with the faint trace of a smile. Lucien: I guess I'd better taste it, then. You worked so hard for it. He lifted the cup to his lips and took a sip. MC: How is it? Lucien: It has a slightly sweet flavour...quite delicious. MC: That's good! Drinking wine in winter can warm you up. The memories of Lucien drinking wine flashed through my head, and I couldn't help adding to my sentence. MC: ...and its alcohol content isn't very high, so you don't need to worry about getting drunk. He raised an eyebrow. Lucien: It seems like I'm being underestimated. He poured some more sake into the cup, and then sipped at it unhurriedly. Lucien: I've had sake before. I didn't get drunk. MC: I think you've mentioned it to me over the phone before... I felt even more curious after he brought the incident up again. My impression is that he almost never drinks alcohol, but instead, loves tea. MC: Why did you try sake that time? Lucien: Mm...let me think. He set down the cup, propping his head up on one hand, and lifted his gaze to stare at the leaves in the yard behind me. Lucien: It was back when I was still a student. We were celebrating because we won a contest with our project. MC: Huh? Lucien: Didn't expect that, right? His gaze met mine for a split second, and then he continued speaking. Lucien: I had worked with my classmates on a very challenging scientific research project. We finally got our ideal results after a year and a half. He sighed, seeming to remember the scenes of the past. Lucien: They were absolutely overjoyed...dragged me to the tavern to celebrate...... He spoke with resignation, but I could see the corners of his mouth turn up in a small smile. I've almost never seen him celebrate his own achievements. The thought I had suppressed earlier was appearing in my mind again-- I want to stay beside him, celebrate with him, and witness the moment his hard work blossoms and he's rewarded for his efforts. A tangled mess of emotions spread across my chest: anticipation, anxiety, and even a hint of worry... Lucien: You're zoning out again. A light tap landed on my forehead, and I came back to my senses, smiling apologetically at Lucien. He narrowed his eyes, staring at me silently, and then spoke. Lucien: Oh, I remember a game we played back then... MC: A game? Lucien: Here, I'll show you. I watched with interest as Lucien took an empty cup and placed it upside-down on the table. Lucien: It's pretty simple. We take turns, you can either choose to tap the cup with your fingers, or take the cup away. Lucien: If the cup is taken away, the other person has to knock on the table with their knuckles. Touching the cup or tapping the table both count as losing. MC: This game seems to rely heavily on reflexes... Lucien smiled at my slightly confused state. Lucien: Yes, but it isn't very hard. You'll get the hang of it after a round or two. Do you want to give it a try? MC: Sure! I nodded eagerly. A streak of emotion flashed through Lucien's eyes, and a smile appeared on his lips.
MC: ...... MC: That's impossible! I took another sip of sake in frustration. Apparently, the "It isn't very hard" of this game is only directed at Lucien. Aside from having great reflexes, he always seemed to know my thoughts, and predicted my movements ahead of time... MC: It's like you can read my mind... Lucien just smiled in response to my complaint. Lucien: Or maybe it's because I know you so well. Lucien: That's why it's not hard to figure out what you're going to do next. He didn't seem to notice how his words made me flustered and embarrassed. I muttered under my breath. MC: That's not fair... Lucien: Why don't you try putting all of your attention on me as well?
MC: Huh? Lucien tilted his head, supporting his face with one hand. He studied my face curiously. Lucien: Maybe this strategy will be more effective. My heartbeat sped up uncontrollably. For a split second, I couldn't tell if he was teasing me, or being completely serious. I still decided to give it a try. I was losing right now, but this method would give me a chance to turn things around. I have nothing to lose, anyways. We soon started a new round. I followed Lucien's advice and stared at him intently, trying to find loopholes and weak points in his gestures. Lucien was smiling the entire time. He seemed to be in a good mood. It was now my turn to tap the cup. I noticed Lucien wrinkle his brow, and I suddenly decided to change tactics. I grabbed the cup and took it away. MC: ...! Lucien: I lost. He looked at our hands, both touching the top of the cup, and sighed. Lucien: It looks like...I was too careless. Lucien: I shouldn't have told you about that strategy. He looked a little sad and regretful. Lucien took the sake and downed it in one go. MC: Does it really work that well? I was a little surprised by the sudden victory. I wasn't sure if it was just luck or not, but I still grinned and felt excited at finally winning against this flawless person. The game went surprisingly smoothly for me after that. I didn't think I would ever experience such a day, where I was always winning against Lucien. The smile on my face grew wider and wider. It stayed that way until Lucien had to drink another cup of sake as punishment. Looking at his reddish ears and smiling lips, I suddenly realized something. I stopped smiling immediately and walked up to Lucien, looking at him sternly. MC: I nearly fell for your tricks again! His gaze flickered, and he reached out for me. Lucien: What's wrong? He looked at me, blinking innocently. Lucien: Why do you look so angry? Did I do something wrong? I couldn't help but laugh somewhat angrily. He already knew the answer...but he was asking anyways. I squeezed his hand. MC: You're letting me win on purpose, right? Lucien didn't respond, but hooked his fingers around mine, wrapping his palm around my hand. Lucien: Who said I let you win on purpose? Lucien: I'm losing to you willingly. He reached out and brushed his finger against my nose, a smile appearing on his lips once more. Lucien: I can finally see your genuine smile. MC: Eh? Lucien: You've looked worried ever since this morning. Lucien: I had originally thought that I shouldn't pressure you into telling me and wait for you to talk to me yourself, but on second thought, it's not good for you to bear this on your own. Lucien: I'm guessing...the thing that's bothering you... is something concerning me? He looked lost in thought for a second. Lucien: Is it that article from the morning? The determined look in his eyes and his behaviour just now made me suddenly understand. MC: So you wanted to play this game so I could relax more? MC: I should have known...I can't hide anything from you. He laughed and wrapped my hand into his palm, speaking in a teasing tone. Lucien: Tell me, how did the Professor Xu on the article trouble you? I laughed, amused by his words. Since my inner thoughts have already been exposed, I decided to just be honest with him. MC: Well...actually, this bottle of sake was originally a gift for you to celebrate your victory. I didn't expect the list to be postponed... MC: I still want to celebrate with you, but if......the results aren't good, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. MC: ...So, I didn't say anything. I sighed with relief, feeling more at ease after admitting everything to Lucien. MC: But now I think...it's more important to cherish the time we have together. I picked up my phone and turned it off without hesitation, trying to show Lucien my determination. MC: I won't get distracted anymore! The light in Lucien's eyes flickered and, he too, turned his phone off. He wrapped an arm around my waist, and lifted his head. Lucien: Then it's a promise. From now on, don't let anything disturb out time together. Lucien: ...not even humans. I couldn't hold in my laughter when Lucien made another addition to his sentence. MC: ...But it's still my fault for getting distracted before. Now, we can make up for lost time. Lucien: Oh? What do you have in mind? I glanced at the courtyard and raised my eyebrows at Lucien. MC: Didn't you notice? The snow outside is getting smaller. He looked puzzled for a second, but then understood what I was implying. The corners of his mouth turned up in a smile. The heavy snow storm outside had turned into light, soft snowflakes-- Drifting into the steaming hot springs, and melting away silently.
After having our meal, Lucien and I walked on the stone pathway in the courtyard. The sound of tricking water reached our ears. MC: It looks like the weather report was accurate. The snow is much smaller and lighter than before.
Lucien: Yes, but are you still drunk? We could come back later. MC: Don't worry, I'm totally awake and sober. MC: Plus, I already did my research. According to the internet, the best time to take a soak in the springs is two hours after a meal! Lucien opened his mouth to say something, but then suddenly stopped in his tracks. He stared at the hot springs in front of us, and a streak of shock and surprise flashed through his eyes. I followed his gaze to the outdoor springs, and my eyes widened. MC: This is... To my utter surprise, I realized that this private hot spring didn't have any sort of barrier separating the two sides!
Chapter 4
MC: That's strange...I clearly remember that the pictures on the website had the hot springs separated with wooden boards... I stared at the water, feeling my ear tips turn red. I couldn't help feeling nervous at the thought of two people in the same pool... Just as I was about to say something to break the awkward silence, Lucien spoke up. Lucien: ...I'll just go back to the room. Lucien: I'll come back once you've finished. MC: Huh? I raised my head. Lucien's expression was still calm and gentle, but his eyes avoided mine. Could it be...... ...I'm not the only one who's nervous? Looking at the steaming hot spring, I swallowed and steeled myself. MC: I mean, we've already changed into new clothes and everything...let's just do it together.
Lucien and I sat across from each other in the hot spring. The clear, rippling water came up to our chests. Lucien: Do you think the water temperature is too hot? I raised my head, and my gaze slid disobediently from his bare chest to his collarbones, his Adam's apple, and then his lips...I didn't dare look up any further. MC: No, it's perfect. I shook my head and tried to suppress my rapid heartbeats. I lowered myself a bit more, submerging my shoulders in the warm water, and couldn't help giving a soft sigh. Snowflakes landed on my face, making my skin feel cool and icy, but melted soon after due to the hot air and my warm body. Lucien's hand swept over the surface of the water, making the water splash. He closed his eyes, tilting his head up, and leaned against the rock wall. Lucien: I remember the last time we took a soak in a hot spring. It was snowing...like today. MC: Yeah, I remember that too. My heart warmed as I remembered the last time I celebrated Lucien's birthday. MC: It feels like all of my happy memories about snowy days are spent with you. He slowly opened his eyes. Droplets of water clung to his eyelashes, and the shape of his lips looked attractive and alluring. Lucien: To me, it's not just snowy days. The sound of flowing water overlapped with his voice, reaching my ears through the misty air. The distant memories in my mind seemed to be lit up little by little under Lucien's gentle gaze. My throat felt a little dry after being stared at for so long. My gaze landed on the tray, and I looked over at the wagashi and cups of hot tea. I picked up a cup and took a sip. It wasn't alcohol or sake, but I somehow still felt slightly drunk. I patted my slightly hot face and tried to stretch my body a bit. My foot accidentally touched Lucien's leg. Lucien: ...... MC: ...... My heart skipped a beat and my breathing quickened. The water of the hot spring seemed to make every part of my body more sensitive. I looked up at Lucien. His gaze flickered, and then he looked away. Lucien picked up the other cup on the tray. Lucien: ...The aroma of tea is very strong. MC: Yeah... MC: T-This kind of opportunity is rare, why don't we replace alcohol with tea and give a toast? I bit my tongue in embarrassment as soon as the words were out of my mouth. The hand Lucien was using to hold the cup seemed to shake. He studied my red cheeks for a second, and then couldn't hold in his laughter.
Lucien: Yes, that's a good suggestion, but...... Lucien: Toasts are usually for celebrating. What are we celebrating right now? I was at a loss for words. While I racked my brain for things to say, a thought flashed through my mind. MC: To celebrate- Lucien: I'm going to be very disappointed if you say something like "to celebrate your prizewinning ahead of time" again. MC: Uhm... This man definitely has mind-reading skills! I looked at Lucien's smiling eyes through the white mist, and then couldn't help smiling as well. The snow floated down from the skies, the clear water rippled, but nothing could compare to his shining eyes. Everything in front of me suddenly felt unreal, like a dream. An amazing man was right in front of my eyes, sharing tea and the wonderful snowy view with me. I could see my figure reflect clearly in Lucien's eyes. I suddenly realized that...to me, this moment with him surpasses everything. I instantly spoke without thinking. MC: Then, let's celebrate the moment we share right now. Underneath the water's surface, our touching skin lightly rubbed against each other. The distinct touch made me feel like there were electric currents coursing through my body, the sensation causing ripples in my heart. I no longer avoided his eyes like before, but looked at Lucien quietly. His Adam's apple moved slightly. The pale, warm mist made his dark eyes twinkle with the lights reflecting off the water. I suddenly had the feeling that Lucien could somehow see past the hazy mist and stare straight into my heart. After a while, he gave a soft laugh. Lucien: Only the moment now? MC: What? Lucien didn't answer, but instead, got up and leaned towards me. His chest, originally submerged in the hot spring, was exposed above the water. The temperature of the hot spring made his skin slightly red. The water rippled and splashed, the droplets falling back towards the spring. Slightly nervous, I touched the ground with my foot. I was a little unstable due to the buoyancy of the water, but Lucien grabbed my waist with one hand just in time. I lifted my head, bewildered, and stared at the defined line of Lucien's jaw, my fingertips digging into the tight and strong muscles of his shoulders. His hand slipped over my back and he held me even tighter in his arms. I subconsciously put one hand at his shoulder and pressed the other against his chest. MC: Lucien...... The soft waves of the water lapped against our bodies. Lucien bent down, and his lips moved close to my ears. His voice was slightly hoarse. Lucien: What I want to say is, not only should we celebrate this moment, but also... Lucien: Every single second we have together. A light touch landed on my earlobe, and it felt as if tendrils of fire were lit up there, one by one. The cups collided with a clear, crisp sound. Lucien drank a mouthful of tea, held my chin, and leaned down. I watched his face come closer and closer. I had no time to think, all I could do was close my eyes...... And...experience the numb sensation on my lips and taste the fragrant sweet tea in my mouth.
There was the sound of splashing water as Lucien got up and walked out of the pool. Lucien: Our clothes were left out and now they're wet from the snow. I'll go back to get new clothes. MC: Wait, I'll go with you. I stood up and tried to follow him. Lucien stood frozen in place, and his gaze wavered slightly when he looked at me. I followed his eyes and looked down. The wet towel clung to my body, clearly outlining my figure. Water dripped down from the soaked fabric. A cool breeze blew past, and I suddenly noticed something. I quickly sat back in the hot spring. MC: I-It's so cold... Lucien laughed softly and nodded. Lucien: Yeah, it would be cold for you if you go back like this. Lucien: So, can you wait for me here? I touched my slightly hot face, and nodded at him, smiling. MC: Okay!
When Lucien returned, I was eating the wagashi in the tray. He laughed when he saw me. (Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets that are typically enjoyed with a cup of green tea. In Chinese, they're called 和果子.)
Lucien: Are you hungry? MC: A little bit. Look, these desserts are all so detailed and beautiful. I pushed the platter towards him. He crouched down and examined them carefully. Lucien: Yeah, you're right. Lucien: I once heard a really skilled pastry chef say that wagashi desserts can express and reflect anything, whether it's from nature or human emotion. MC: Really? I put my arm on the stone edge surrounding the hot spring and started studying the wagashi in the tray curiously. MC: These are made for Valentine's Day. I wonder if they're special in any way. Lucien: I think they are. He leaned down and examined the desserts along with me. Lucien: Maybe...we can use our imagination to take a guess? He smiled and picked up one of the sweets. The shape and design was fairly simple compared to the others. It was round like a small steamed bun, and there was a circular yellow label stamped in the centre. Lucien: I'm sure they made the label yellow for a reason. He looked at it for a while and then handed it to me. Lucien: Can you think of anything? MC: Um...yellow circle...... MC: Like a full moon? I looked up at Lucien. The corners of his mouth turned up, hinting at me to continue on. I stared at the seemingly plain and ordinary wagashi, and suddenly realized something. MC: The moon is a very important symbol of love and can be used to express many different emotions... MC: So, it seems that this wagashi really fits the theme of Valentine's Day. Lucien: Do you want to taste it? I leaned over and bit into the wagashi in his hand. The sweetness melted in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised to see the red filling underneath the white outside layer. MC: It's red bean paste...! A flash of surprise crossed Lucien's eyes, and after a while, he nodded thoughtfully. Lucien: To choose red filling for the inside... Lucien: That's probably because the person who created it wanted to express the sincere emotions between lovers. MC: So wagashi can really express human emotion... I looked at the emotion-filled dessert, and a warm, gentle feeling grew in my heart. I spoke to Lucien without thinking. MC: You try it too! I remembered something as soon as the words left my mouth, and quickly changed my words. MC: Oh, you don't really like sweets...then I'll take it! I reached out to take the wagashi away from him, but Lucien moved his hand away and out of my reach. MC: Huh? He gave a light laugh at my puzzled look. Lucien: I don't really like sweet things, that's true. Lucien: But...a dessert with such beautiful meaning...I still want to give it a try. MC: But...... Lucien's face appeared in front of mine before I even finished speaking. He put his hand behind my head and leaned down. In the blink of an eye, I felt a sudden warmth on my lips. His hot breath fell on my face, making my skin feel both itchy and numb, dispelling the coolness in the air. The snow on the edge of the pool melted into water and fell into the spring, causing little splashes where they land. After a long time, Lucien finally let go of the hand behind my head and looked at me, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Lucien: Mm, it's sweeter than I imagined.
Chapter 5
After taking a soak in the pool, Lucien and I walked back to the room. We both froze when the door was pushed open. A gaudy “prize cake” was sitting on the table.
The word "AWARD" was written in large block letters using red chocolate, and right underneath it, was a sentence written in black chocolate-- "The Best Scientist Award". Lucien raised an eyebrow, glancing lazily towards me. I coughed awkwardly. MC: Cough cough...would you believe me if I said the attendant sent this to the wrong room? The door was pushed open again, and the attendant came in with two sets of cutlery. Attendant: You're back, Miss. Did you enjoy the hot springs? Attendant: This is the special cake you ordered. The driver was able to get down the mountain to get it since the snow's smaller now. Please enjoy. The attendant gave me a meaningful look, as if saying "I won't disturb you any longer", and then bowed and walked out. After a short silence, a soft chuckle came from behind me. MC: ......Okay, I'll admit it. I prepared this for you...a present to celebrate your victory in winning the award. MC: I think there's more of a celebratory atmosphere if we eat cake. MC: Well...I know the appearance of the cake is sort of...weird and exaggerated, but it probably tastes okay... Lucien nodded, laughing softly. Lucien: Yes, I think this cake will be delicious. And...... Lucien: Now, I'm convinced that you really do care a lot about this topic. He paused, and then took out his phone, turning it on. Lucien: Since you want to know so badly...let's find out together. MC: ......What? Lucien: Didn't you want to know the results? I remember it said in the article you read this morning...it was going to be delayed until the afternoon. Lucien: It should be the right time now. MC: But...! I watched his unhurried movements, my eyes wide. I seemed to be more nervous than he was. Lucien: If I don't let you know now, you'd be worried over it for the entire day. Right after he finished speaking, his phone buzzed continuously for a few minutes, and endless messages flooded the screen. My heartbeat sped up as I stared as his vibrating phone. Lucien also seems somewhat surprised by the amount of notifications. Lucien: ...A Ming, sent fifteen text messages and called me six times. He wrinkled his brow. Lucien: It looks like he didn't take what I said about "focus on the key points" to heart. MC: I'm currently also questioning your ability to "focus on key points"! Finally, his phone calmed down. Lucien lightly tapped the screen, his face expressionless and emotionless. I looked at him with mixed feelings of anticipation and anxiousness. After a few minutes of silence, Lucien suddenly leaned towards me, burying his head in my shoulder, and let out a soft sigh. Lucien: ...... My heart stopped. MC: I-It's okay...... My mind was blank, and I was stumbling over my words. MC: Maybe it's because they changed the requirements for this year, they need to consider other elements, and...... MC: This is their loss! You're so talented and smart, they're going to regret it for sure! Lucien: ...Really? MC: Yes!! I replied instantly and was about to continue on when my ears caught a low laugh. I suddenly realized that something wasn't right. MC: ......You're tricking me again! I immediately straightened up, trying to escape his embrace. He caught my wrist, laughing, and pulled me into his arms again. Lucien: I didn't trick anyone...it's kind of unfair for you to say that. Lucien: I don't think I actually said anything about the results yet? I bit my lip, pouting slightly as I looked at the triumphant smile in his eyes. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. I dove into the blankets on the bed and pretended to be angry. Even though the news of Lucien's success made me smile from ear to ear, I tried to control my expression and spoke in an upset voice. MC: I was so nervous, yet you still tricked me! MC: I had prepared a third gift for you, aside from the cake and the sake...but now I'm going to reconsider if I should give it to you or not! His low laughter immediately stopped, as if someone had pressed the pause button. I secretly giggled to myself and counted down silently. 3, 2, 1...as expected, I felt a pair of hands hug me from behind when I counted the last number. Lucien: I'm sorry. You were so cute...I couldn't help teasing you. Lucien: So, can you tell me what the last gift is? Lucien waited, and when I didn't respond, he started coughing. Lucien: Cough cough... Lucien: I think I caught a cold from staying outside for so long... I listened to Lucien's coughing. At first, I was startled, but then couldn't hold in my laughter. I didn't think he'd resort to such childish tactics. Lucien also started laughing when he heard my laughter. The hands around my waist tightened, and his voice was more serious when he opened his mouth. Lucien: MC. Lucien: Actually, I don't really care about this award that much. My heart skipped a beat. It was the first time I heard him say something like that. Lucien: Because, everything that I wanted to have......I got it when the research results were announced...maybe even earlier than that. Lucien: Any praise from the outside world, to me, is nothing but icing on the cake. He paused, as if suddenly remembering something, and then started laughing softly. Lucien: But, everything that you've done for me today...I'm very happy about it. Lucien: Whether it's the gifts you gave me, or the sincere words you spoke...all of that made me feel how important I am to you. Lucien rubbed his chin over my forehead through the blanket. Lucien: The only one who would feel happy, nervous, or even sad for me from the bottom of their heart... Lucien: It's probably only this silly girl in front of me. His soft, gentle words fell over my heart, splashing up waves of emotion. Lucien: I think...the reason I keep teasing you is because I want to see more of the reactions and feelings...that you only display for me. Lucien: I guess I'm also a "collector", of some sort-- Lucien: It doesn't matter what form of MC...I want to have them all. Lucien: Will you forgive me now? His tone was filled with tenderness and gentleness. I still didn't respond, but instead, answered with my actions-- I threw off the blankets, and kissed Lucien's cheek as he froze in shock. My fingers swept over the strands of his hair, stopping on his face, and I held on to him tightly, pulling him towards me. The sound of heavy breathing filled the room. As if in a trance, I kissed him over and over, and then pressed my lips against his ear. MC: I'm not angry, you're the silly one here... My lips made their way down the edge of his ear. He gave a sharp intake of breath, and I stopped my kisses and instead, rubbed gently against his ear. After a long time, my eyes met Lucien's, and I finally realized how bold and embarrassing my actions were. I tried to pull away from him. But Lucien didn't allow me to hide. The hand on my waist tightened, and he pressed his forehead against my forehead, his dark eyes staring deep into mine. Lucien: Is this the third gift? Our breaths mingled, both of us breathing hard. I shook my head. MC: ...It's a promise. I tried to calm my breathing, and slowly said the words that had been fermenting in my heart. MC: I was planning to wait until the results were out...no matter if you won or not, I would still say this to you-- MC: In the future, I'm going to stay beside you and spend every memorable moment with you. MC: ...Do you still remember the crystallized flower you gave me? MC: My thoughts are the same as yours. Every single second we spend together is precious and special for me. I don't have a gift as beautiful and romantic as the one you gave me, so I can only express my feelings in words... MC: But this truly is my most genuine and sincere thought. The evening air swept past. Behind Lucien, the flaming red maple leaves fluttered down from the sky. I suddenly had the feeling that Lucien and I were closer than ever. He lowered his gaze, staring at me for a second, and then let out a soft laugh. Lucien: Your romantic sentences have improved a lot since the last time. My face felt hot when I met the mischievous look in his eyes. MC: I was only speaking from the heart! Lucien: Yeah, I know. Lucien: I don't think your words are plain. In fact, I believe the opposite...your words are of great significance and importance to me. Lucien: But, even if I receive such a wonderful vow, there's still one thing... Lucien: Aren't you giving me an empty promise? MC: !... I... I was at a loss for words. Lucien smiled, his gaze traveling down to slightly open lips, emotion wavering in his dark eyes. Lucien: Sometimes...actions speak louder than words. He lifted his arm, brushing his thumb against my lips. Lucien: The sincerity in your promise...maybe I'll understand it better if you express it in a different way. His voice was low, and he lifted his gaze to look at me, lights shimmering in his eyes. Lucien: Are you willing to give it a try? My face turned red, and my thoughts were a mess. The next second, Lucien grabbed my wrist and pressed me to the tatami. MC: Uhf...! His soft tongue pried my teeth open little by little, rubbing against the inside of my mouth gently and delicately, as if trying to rub away all the heat and lingering feelings. I tasted the faint, pleasant flavour of tea in his mouth. It somehow tasted like wine with an incredibly high alcohol content...I felt slightly drunk. He lifted my chin with one hand. Lucien's eyes were half-closed, and he loosened his grip on my hand. His fingers gently caressed the skin of my wrist, slowly and tenderly, making my body gradually relax. The temperature around us rose quickly, and I instinctively threw my arms around his neck, responding to his actions with another kiss. He let go of me just when I started feeling a little dizzy. His familiar soft laugh sounded by my ears. When he saw I was slightly weak from his actions, Lucien held on to my waist and let me sit on his lap. One of my hands were pressed against his sturdy chest, and the other was weakly grasping his already messy and disheveled clothes. MC: Lucien...... I lowered my head and stared into his eyes. I could see some sort of suppressed emotion in his dark eyes, and I leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to his chin. Lucien: ...... The light reflected in Lucien's eyes seemed to flicker, and then suddenly darkened. The hand Lucien was using to stroke my hair suddenly moved, giving me no time to react, and he pulled me towards him, kissing me once more. Unlike the gentle, tender kiss from before...this one was filled with overwhelming passion and a slight hint of greed. The tingling sensation from my mouth seemed to course through my body like an electrical current. Lucien's warm palm made its way down my back, making me shiver. My senses and emotions were all occupied by him. I could feel the kiss gradually deepen. I felt a slight pain at my collarbone, and I cried out. I could feel a warm, moist touch appear over that area. A layer of fine sweat appeared on our touching skin, and with it, came an intimate, sticky feeling. I ran a hand through the sweat-drenched strands of Lucien's hair and lowered my head to look down at him. His eyes were closed, and his face was slightly red with the colour of maple leaves. I didn't know where to put my eyes, and my face turned hot again. As if feeling my nervousness, the corners of Lucien's mouth turned up slightly. He lifted a hand and covered my eyes. Lucien: Close your eyes. His voice was commanding, but also extremely gentle and tender. I slowly closed my eyes and surrendered myself to him. The last image remaining on my eyes was Lucien's dark, unfathomable eyes... ...And a brilliant red.

I have a lot of interest rest in Ottomans. How fashion changed after 1860s in Ottoman women? Ottoman fashion which is shown in Payitaht Abdulhamid in 1890s, was it real? Please explain with pictures
I am sorry for the long wait, I had internet connection problems.
After 1860s is a very specific time but I'll do my best. We can't forget that talking about fashion in a setting like the Ottoman empire is way more difficult because women weren't supposed to be portrayed or photographed so the material is scarce.
It was after the visit of the Empress Eugénie that the women of the palace and the wives of the high functionaries copied as nearly as they could the appearance of the beautiful Empress. They divided their hair in the middle, and spent hours in making little bunches of curls. High-heeled shoes replaced the coloured babouches [slippers]; they even adopted the hideous crinolines and abandoned forever those charming Oriental garments, the chalvar and the entari which they considered symbols of servitude, but which no other fashion has been able to equal in beauty — Zeynoub Hanoum, A Turkish Woman’s European Impressions
The chalvar, called şalvar in Turkish are the characteristic baggy pants that women (and men too) would wear underneath their several layers of clothing. The entari was worn over the undergarments and the şalvar:
These are all XIX century entari.
In any case, rich women began to abandon these clothes for more European ones especially after the visit of Empress Eugénie in Istanbul. This can be seen clearly in children's fashion:
Nazima Sultan in 1876 and Naime Sultan in 1882
Saliha Sultan in the 1870s
In this period [1867], the young ladies and young girls had completely abandoned the old dresses with three tails or trains and the baggy pants underneath; fashion now demanded shirts with a single train which was caught up and attached to the belt – there were now petticoats instead of şalvars or the baggy pants previously worn. The headdresses had also changed with the times and now usually matched the costumes; there were earrings with jewels, medallions and elaborate hairstyles, garnished with precious stones. — Leyla (Saz) Hanımefendi, The Imperial Harem of the Sultans. Daily Life at the Çıragan Palace During the Nineteenth Century
As for outerwear:
Women changed the thicker cloth they had traditionally used for their feraces (long flowing outer garments) for a much thinner material. They changed their yellow boots of morocco leather for shoes with trimmings of imitation gold thread, which they wore with thin, white socks. They began to use thinner veils and they turned covering themselves into a method for making themselves more alluring, a trend appreciated by Ali Rıza Bey, who commented that ‘the veils of our women, which were a means of ornamenting the face rather than concealing it, became finer. How charming the colourful feraces looked! And these finer veils were unable to obscure the beauty [behind]’. — Ebru Boyar, Kate Fleet - A Social History of Ottoman Istanbul
These photographs are great examples of just how fine veils had become. They basically did not hide any feature and this was a problem for conservatives (and sultans as well):
The çarşafs had become merely ordinary dresses, the feraces had turned into sleeveless capes, the veils had become too thin. [Abdülhamid II] issued an order that this should not occur. Further, women were not to wear coats or short, tight-waisted jackets which imitated military styles — Ebru Boyar, Kate Fleet - A Social History of Ottoman Istanbul
In the photograph above you can see a western dress underneath the ferace and several rows of what seem to be pearls.
In the XIX century, women (especially wealthy women of course) began to go out more, especially to pleasure gardens or at the Bosphorus shore. This meant that new accessories began to be used, among them the parasol. As pleasure gardens (ie. parks) were public places, men and women could see each other in these occasions:
A parasol in the rowing boat! It explains what the person wants to say. For example, if it is bent a little to one side, it means ‘I am annoyed with you’, if it is bent over further, ‘I am really angry’, if it completely covers the face, it means ‘you will not see my face again’, ‘I don’t want to see you, have you still not understood?’, if it swings hard from right to left, it signifies ‘don’t stay, pass by’, ‘return, go’, if it falls slightly to the front, it is in the place of a greeting, ‘welcome, sir’, if it falls a lot, ‘my heart has beaten again’, if it goes to the back, it means ‘oh!’, if it leans all the way over backwards, ‘what a state I am in, see me and have pity!’, if it is held to the side, ‘oh, how fine, what happiness this is!’, if it is opened and closed, it means ‘not tonight, tomorrow’, if it is closed and stays so, ‘we will make an appointment for the following day — Ebru Boyar, Kate Fleet - A Social History of Ottoman Istanbul
Men too had secret gestures:
making signs with the eyes and eyebrows, winking one eye, making as if wiping your face with a handkerchief, smelling the handkerchief with which you have just wiped your face, sighing deeply, and placing your hand over your heart. Placing your hand on your temple and half-closing then closing your eyes means ‘I am dying for you’, unbuttoning of one or two buttons of the waistcoat means ‘my heart is palpitating, I cannot bear this beating’. If you have a cigarette in your mouth, even if it is newly lit, and you take it from the corner of your mouth and hurl it away, this is because women do not like addiction to tobacco any more than its smell. To call over a beggar and give him a few coins demonstrates your compassion and generosity. To be busy looking at the posters outside Manakyan’s theatre is a sign of liking romantic themes such as La Dame aux camelias or Countess Sara. — Sermet Muhtar Alus, 30 Sene Evvel İstanbul. 1900’lü Yılların Başlarında Şehir Hayatı
... clothing made in European fashion, top hats, fancy canes, pet dogs, piano lessons, French language lessons, operas, dances, and balls, to the eventual employment of Western literary forms such as the novel, short story, and newspaper and the print culture it introduced, which had profound effects in creating new visions of Ottoman society and the individuals living within it. These literary forms constructed a new image of an Ottoman as a refined man "introverted, very sensitive, knowledgeable in Western music and literature, conversant in a Western language, positivist, attributing value to human beings, and subscribing to a Western style of life" — Fatma Müge Göçek, Rise of the Bourgeoisie, Demise of Empire; Ottoman Westernization and Social Change
Of course the same craze invested the Palace. Sisters Fatma and Mediha are clearly wearing European gowns and accessories:
Fatma Sultan around 1870 and Mediha Sultan in 1888
In the photograph below we can see Refia Sultan dressed exactly like a European woman in 1865. 1865 is very early but she was very interested in everything that came from Europe.
I was not able to identify these people but they're clearly from the Ottoman empire:
the lady is particularly interesting because not only is she wearing a European-style tiara but she seems to be also wearing the Order of the Charity (the white sash) 1st class, which was usually awarded to princesses.
Here we have sisters Hatice, Fehime and Fatma (all daughters of Murad V). The European style of their clothes and accessories is pretty evident.
Rukiye Sabiha Sultan on her wedding day in 1921

So... yeah, by the fall of the empire clothes were completely European.

“EUGENE! STOP… RUNNING!” Legs slowing down from fatigue, totally out of breath, you continue to chase after him.
“NO!” He calls back, zooming in and out of each room as you tail his every move.
“It’ll be cute! I swear!” You plead helplessly, holding out a fuzzy snowman costume toward him.
“HELL. NO.”
“Eugeneee! Pleaseee! We’re gonna be late!”
“GOOD! WE’LL JUST STAY HOME THEN!” He rushes past you, sprinting into the bedroom before locking the door behind him.
“Come on, Eugene!” You catch your breath before slumping against the door for support. “Stop being childish! Everyone will be dressed up!”
“I DON’T CARE!” He yells from behind the door. “AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE A SNOWMAN?!”
You chuckle lightly, not needing to see his face, you could already picture the cute pout upon his features as he retaliates.
“We all selected from a list! You refused to take part in choosing, so you were left with the snowman nobody wanted!”
You waited patiently for his reply. But as time passed, you were met with nothing but silence. Bringing your ear to the door, you could hear the quiet mumbles of a grumpy Eugene.
Realising you had no other choice, you decide to go with plan B to combat his stubborn resolve.
Pretending to sigh heavily, you slowly begin to walk away while putting on your best discouraged voice.
“Fine! You win! Let me go get changed and then we can go…”
A sinister smile wide upon your lips, you sneakily slip out a newly bought costume from your bag.
A couple minutes go by as Eugene continues to hide himself away.
Exhaling deep, you mask your mischievous grin and casually call out, “OK, EUGENE! I’M DONE! LET’S GO NOW!”
Eyes glued toward the bedroom, you watch as the golden-haired male exits the doorway, a bright triumphant smile upon his lips.
“We’re late now…” You sigh as you pick up your plate of freshly baked cookies, nonchalantly stepping out from behind the counters — now in clear view.
As Eugene’s eyes land on your figure, his winning smile gets utterly washed out by the overwhelming colour of crimson painted over his face.
“ARGH! W-WHAT ARE YOU W-WEARING?!” He stutters, completely paralysed as he shamelessly gawks at your outfit.
Cleavage pushed up to the nines and booty cheeks threatening a full display from the smallest of movements, you simply answer, “My costume?”
You head towards the front door; clad in nothing but lacy red lingerie, a red mini skirt with fluffy white trimming and a simple Santa hat.
As you turn the doorknob, Eugene beelines toward you and slams the door shut. Arms out wide, he shields you from the outside world.
“YOU CALL THAT A COSTUME?!” He questions, totally exasperated as his eyes scan over you in every direction.
“Eugene… we don’t have time for this…” Moving him out of the way, you reach out for the doorknob again before he quickly grabs hold of your arms.
“NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE LIKE THIS! GO GET CHANGED!”
“But… this role is important... Who else will be Santa then?” You ask innocently, tilting your head in fake concern.
“I DON’T KNOW! BUT IT SURE AS HELL WON’T BE YOU!”
“Eugene…”
He then grabs your hands tight, crouching down before looking up to meet your gaze with pleading amber eyes. “Please, (Y/N)! I’ll do anything, I’ll even wear that dumb snowman costume. Just please don’t wear this out.”
“…Really?”
“I’ll put it on right now if you want!” Eugene replies with desperation.
Got him.
Knowing you had him completely wrapped around your finger, you ultimately decide to ease him of his torturous distress. “Well… I guess I might have another outfit somewhere…”
Practically on his knees by now, he pleads once more. “Yes, please… just… anything but that.”
“Okay… I’ll go get changed…”
“Oh, thank god.” Eugene exclaims before slumping down onto the couch.
Taking a small peek at his defeated form as you leave, you witness Eugene laid back — hands covering his red-hot face as his voice is muffled within his palms. “Dammit… she’ll be the death of me.”
At last, you were dressed in the original outfit you had planned to wear all along. Unbeknownst to Eugene, of course. Stepping out into the lounge, you sport a pure white, long feathery dress with a floating halo attached above your head — an entirely opposite theme to the scantily clad fabric you had on just moments before.
Surely, he wouldn’t oppose to leaving with an ‘angel’.
Standing before your spiritually depleted boyfriend, you twirl around merrily before flashing him a glowing grin.
He stares for a moment before shaking his head. “No good… You’re still too cute.”
Astonished over his constant denial, you groan, “Eugene!”
“Fine… at least it won’t skyrocket my blood pressure this time.”
You stare at him as he avoids your eyes. “Your turn.”
Eugene hesitates slightly before sighing, finally grabbing the once abandoned costume. “Why do I feel played…?”
.
“I look stupid…” Eugene complains, his feet heavy with every step.
“No… you’re adorable!” You giggle as you excitedly skip up to Harry’s doorstep, hearing Eugene sigh for the thousandth time behind you.
Before you could even knock, Harry swings the door open. “Welcome!”
Eugene’s eyes go wide for a moment as he realises what Harry was wearing. You look back and poke your tongue out at him as he groans in defeat. Covered in red and white with a sack of presents to match, Harry gleams happily within his Santa costume. “Merry Christmas, guys!”
“Merry Christmas, Harry!” You beam back wholeheartedly.
“Yeah, yeah…” Eugene sighs once more, dreading the chaos within.
Harry gestures inside, “Come in! Everyone’s already here.”
Stepping into the warmly lit home, you’re both welcomed with an onslaught of greetings and well wishes from all around the room. Your eyes light up with joy as you reunite with the friends you now call ‘family’. Seeing everyone’s festive spirit made you feel right at home.
“HEYYY!!” Zion greets loudly from the kitchen. Stepping out into the lounge, you’re met with the brazenly exposed, half-naked redhead with a gold ribbon tied neatly around his neck. “Aww, well aren’t you guys the cutest?” Zion calls out as you break into hysterical laughter.
“…Aren’t you cold?” Eugene asks, wholly unimpressed, eyes creasing as thin as slits.
“You’re right… it DID get cold all of a sudden…” Zion wraps his arms around his bare form before looking in your direction. “(Y/N), did you HAVE to bring the snow in with you?”
“And… it starts.” Eugene mutters under his breath. Wiping the tears in the corners of your eyes, you try to question his clothing options—or lack thereof—but Eugene beats you to it. “So, what are you meant to be anyway?”
Zion’s eyes go wide with shock, dumbfounded by his simple question. “You can’t tell? Am I not a gift to your eyes?”
The room falls silent. So quiet, you could even hear the soft crackles of the flames within the fireplace.
Zion looks around the room, flabbergasted at everyone’s absent response. “I’m everyone’s Christmas present!”
“Bet you’re full of coal.” Eugene snickers.
“Only if you’ve been bad~” Zion fires back with a wink as he backs away toward the kitchen again, finger gunning the entire way back until he was out of view.
Eugene groans before sighing once more. “Today’s gonna be a long day... Can I take this off now?”
“Nooo! We need to take a family photo with everyone first!” Stopping him from unzipping himself and trying to lighten his sour mood, you nudge Eugene’s side playfully. “Come on! Everyone’s in the Christmas spirit and having fun!”
“Urgh… This is why I hate Christmas…”
You giggle at his predictable response before cheerfully waving back to Ethan and Lawrence sitting by the fire. “Ok, Scrooge. How about we say hello to everyone first and then go grab some food, sound good?”
He’ll be in a better mood after he eats.
“Fine… You know I’m only putting up with this ‘cause I love you, right?”
“I know.” Leaning up on your toes, you give Eugene a quick peck on his cheek. “Thank you, Eugene.”
“Yeah…” He murmurs, scratching the back of his golden tresses awkwardly.
.
Standing by the dining table filled with traditionally festive dishes, you lovingly feed spoonful’s of pudding to your now content boyfriend. For once, he wasn’t complaining about being here or feeling defensive over his attire. He began to actually enjoy himself as he caught up with everyone.
Well… That was until Zion came back to set down some eggnog on the table.
Coming up beside you, Zion looks toward Eugene before letting out a giant sneeze… a fake one of course. But it was enough to bring Eugene’s mood back to square one.
“WHY DON’T YOU JUST PUT A SHIRT ON, YOU FUCKING NARCISSIST?!”
“Man… the winter breeze sure is howling loud today!” Zion effortlessly ignores him as he snakes an arm around your shoulders. “You know, (Y/N)… since it’s so cold here, I heard that an easy way to warm ourselves is to cuddle each other while being stark nake-”
Before he could finish his sentence, with lightning fast reflexes, Eugene swipes a plastic butter knife from the table and places it by Zion’s cheek. His eyes now dark with murderous intent, voice seething in malice. “Hands.Off.My.Girlfriend.”
Zion immediately takes his hands off of you and raises them up as a sign of mercy. “Whoa… Chill, bro.”
“Ayeee~” Judy chimes in as she reaches out her hand for a synchronised fist bump with the proud redhead.
“Pfft-” Failing to stifle your chuckle, you go into an uncontrollable fit of laughter again, having way too much fun from everyone’s shenanigans.
Eugene snaps his head toward you, a look of utter betrayal in his expression. “Really, (Y/N)? That joke got you too?”
“I’m s-sorry… The timing… was perfect!” You manage to say as you clutch your stomach, giving in to the giggles.
About ready to burn his costume at this point, Eugene barks out, “CAN WE TAKE THIS DAMN PICTURE ALREADY?!”
.
Now cozy in their everyday clothes—after the chaotic madness of capturing the perfect group photo—the mood was tranquil as everyone chatted amongst themselves.
A moment of calm washed over the both of you as you sat comfortably within Eugene’s embrace by the roaring fire. A glass of warm eggnog within your palms, Eugene rested his chin within the curve of your neck — drained from the constant torment.
“Finally… Zion can leave me alone with his lame ass dad jokes now.”
Feeling somewhat responsible and guilty for putting your boyfriend through such turmoil, you decide to sneakily lead him away to a place that Harry secretly set up for you.
“What are you planning now?” Eugene’s eyebrow raises, underlying skepticism within his voice as you slip away from the party.
Spotting the hanging mistletoe in the hallway ahead, you eagerly drag Eugene over and situate him right underneath.
“OK! Now, look up!”
Eyes raising toward the ceiling before settling back on your expectant gaze, he smirks roguishly, “If you wanted to kiss me, you could’ve just asked.”
Is it too cliché?
Suddenly feeling horrified by how enthusiastic you were, you cover your rosy cheeks with your palms and attempt to run off. “You’re right! This is dumb!”
“Hey!” Eugene protests as he hastily grabs you by the hand and gently pulls you into his arms, chuckling as he witnesses your bashful demeanour. “It’s only fair if I get to tease you a little too…”
His hand reaches up to caress your cheek, thumb gliding over your mouth as it lingers upon your soft lips. Leaning in close, his hot breath inches from your skin, he whispers, “How are you so adorable?”
Without a moment of hesitation, your eyelids flutter to a close — anticipating the warmth of his lips pressed upon yours.
Just as you were about to close the gap however, a wolf whistle echoes from the end of the hall.
Both taken aback by surprise, you turn your heads to witness a sneering Zion leaning against the wall… watching in amusement. “Oh, ho ho~ Be careful, (Y/N). If this gets any steamier, Olaf over here will melt away!”
Your face burns with embarrassment having been caught in the act of such a lovey-dovey scene. Infuriated by his interruption, Eugene blows up in rage for the... how many times today? You seem to have lost count at this point.
“SERIOUSLY, ZION! DO YOU EVER SHUT UP?! I’M NOT EVEN WEARING THAT STUPID COSTUME ANYMORE!”
Waving his hand indifferently in dismissal, Zion wanders off, dusting his hands like he had just completed a job well done.
“God, he’s so irritating! How is he everywhere?!” Eugene grumbles as he massages his temples with his fingers.
“Even I’m starting to get annoyed now.” You admit, your eyes falling into aggravated slits at Zion’s retreating form.
“We should have never come…” Eugene pouts, his expression reminding you of a provoked cat.
Cute...
You wrap your arms around him, hoping to calm him again. You hear him sigh in frustration as he returns your embrace before nuzzling his face into your (h/c) locks. “You know he only teases out of love, right?”
He scoffs at the thought.
Taking his hand in yours, you smile knowingly. “Plus, you don’t need to hide it, I know you enjoyed seeing everyone again.”
His attention shifts to the side, avoiding your gaze as his cheeks grow a subtle blush. “Whatever.”
You couldn’t help but giggle at his innocent response.
“Anyways…” He trails off as his fingers delicately lift your chin upwards. “The only love I need is yours.”
Leaning down a second time, Eugene’s gentle lips press together with yours. Fitting together as perfect as a puzzle, you gasp lightly as he hugs you tighter.
His scent was... reminiscent of faint firewood.
His lips... tasting of subtle hints of cinnamon.
Every part of him consumed your senses.
As he grips your chin eagerly, your mouth parts immediately as if by instinct — welcoming his intoxicating tongue.
Contrary to what Zion believed, Eugene’s kiss left your body melting under his every touch.
As your lips part ways with his, Eugene’s eyes were met with your fervent gaze — his eyebrows furrowing in response. “Can we go home now?”
Misunderstanding his intentions, you fail to hide your sadness. “You hated the party that much?”
“It’s not that… It was good to see everyone. But, I just… wanna spend some time with you now, (Y/N)…”
“O-Oh…Okay.” You stutter. He wasn’t usually this forward or honest, and it left you feeling a little shy. The prior hours, as you dragged on your stay, made you somewhat apologetic toward him. “I’m sorry for making you wear that costume.”
His eyes go wide before smiling warmly. “It’s fine… as long as you had fun.”
A bubbly grin on your face, you beam, “I did! Thank you, Eugene!”
Eugene chuckles quietly in response as he ruffles your hair. “Anyways, I guess it was worth it.” He then clears his throat uncomfortably. “…You looked beautiful today.”
“Only today?” You question; your tone, playful.
Eyes closing from exhaustion due to everyone’s constant lively energy, he sighs deeply as he rests his forehead against yours. “Give me a break already… You know what I mean.”
Tittering softly, you slowly nod against him.
“Don’t even start me on that lacy shit you had on this morning…” Eugene then looks up abruptly, confusion clear on his handsome features. “Wait… You tricked me! What was that outfit for anyway? Harry was Santa…”
Giggling radiantly at the memory of your prank, you reply, “It’s a gift!”
Eugene’s eyebrows raise in curiosity before you leaned closer to clarify, “But only for your eyes…”
“Ah…” Eugene places a hand on his mouth, turning his face toward the wall and averting his gaze — hiding the faint blush upon his skin.
He then clears his throat again before looking at you in a suspicious stare. “You’re not gonna chase me around again and say you bought it for me to wear, are you?”
Although you found the idea quite tempting, you smile sincerely. “I think I’ve teased you enough for one day.”
“Good.”
Taking your hand in his, he leads you away from the mistletoe and out of the halls. Pink hues decorate your cheeks as you anticipate a festive night, spent only in the arms of one another.
