FAQs for Janeuary 2025

Janeuary 2025 is coming soon! Here are answers to some questions I’ve gotten or that you may be wondering about before participating in the event:

Can I join?

Yes! This is an open event with no sign-ups. You don’t need to notify me or get my permission. Everyone is welcome.

Do I have to do something for every one of the prompts?

No! Just one is fine. You can do more if you wish, or multiple works for the same prompt, but none of this is necessary. The list of prompts is here.

Can I combine prompts?

Sure! Just please note in your post all the prompts you’re using. If possible, post your work on the earliest day for the prompts shown in it, and we’ll reblog it on that day, but we’ll tag it with all the days/prompts you used. For instance, if you write a fic about characters staying in an inn (day 5) in London (day 15), post on day 5 and state in your post that it’s meant for both prompts.

Do I have to create my art/fic/whatever on the day itself?

No! That would be super hard to do—I’m not that mean! Create it now, and just hold off on posting it until the day of the prompt you used.

Does my fic/art need to take place in Regency England, or are AUs allowed?

As long as you have at least one Austen-work or Austen-adaptation character, you can stick them in whatever universe you wish. However, if you want to use all non-Austen characters, they need to be in an Austen universe. So, for day 11 “card playing,” you could draw Sonic the Hedgehog playing whist in a Regency drawing room OR you could draw Darcy and Elizabeth playing poker in modern-day Las Vegas, and either of these would be totally acceptable.

Completely canon-compliant works are of course also allowed!

Can I include non-Austen characters in my creations?

Sure! As long as you have at least one Austen-work or Austen-adaptation character, OR place your work in an Austen AU, you can include whatever other characters you wish. Characters from other media, OCs, reader inserts, they’re all fine.

And remember that there is no bashing of others’ characters or ships! Accounts that do so will get blocked. Review the full list of rules here.

What does it mean that the work has to be new?

Basically, it can’t have been posted anywhere before. BUT this means that a new chapter on an old fic is totally valid! So is taking an old line drawing and coloring it and then posting the new colored version. That sort of thing.

And the work doesn’t have to be completed before the end of the month either, so if you have a long-running fic that has been going for years already and is going to keep going far after next January, you can still participate by working the prompts into a chapter or two during the month and then carrying on as you like afterwards.

Can I make [fill in the blank fanwork]?

Yep. Any type of fanwork you can dream up is welcome, not just fic and art. Crochet a bonnet for day 23 and post a pic of it, make a photo montage of yourself doing Emma cosplay, edit together a Bride and Prejudice music video, we love it all!

Is NSFW allowed?

Yes, with any sort of content and kink you like, but since there may be minors following this account, please tag it appropriately. If posting mature content directly on Tumblr rather than AO3, also use its community labels function and/or hide the content under a “keep reading” link. And minors—do not engage with content that is not meant for you.

Is AI allowed?

Absolutely not. This account will not reblog or include in the AO3 collection anything that was made with AI involved to any degree. Even if you just use AI to make a banner to go along with your fic that you manually wrote, we will not reblog it. Review the full list of rules here.

How do I post my work so it gets included?

You must tag the @janeuary-month account in your Tumblr post for us to see it and reblog it from this account. Also, state which day/prompt you’re following and use the hashtag #janeuary and/or #janeuary 2025. Full posting instructions are coming soon.

Should I post my fic on AO3 or Tumblr?

Whatever you prefer. If you post it on AO3 and also make a Tumblr post to link to it, we will reblog the Tumblr post. If you only post to the AO3 collection, we will have nothing to reblog, but it will still be in the collection for others to find that way.

I don’t post my art on Tumblr; can I still participate?

You’re welcome to post your creation wherever you like, but without a Tumblr post, we have nothing to reblog to make it officially part of the event. But, if you post elsewhere (Instagram, Twitter, DeviantArt, etc.), you can also post a link to your own work on your own Tumblr, and then we can reblog your Tumblr post.

I don’t write in English; can I still participate?

Yes! All languages are welcome—just make sure to clearly mark the day/prompt so that we can still easily reblog.

I’m not going to get my work done on time; can I still participate?

Please do! We’re happy to accept late entries! We understand that life happens, so just tag us when you’ve posted it and we’ll reblog it, even weeks later. The AO3 collection (link coming soon) will remain open indefinitely.

Also, remember that the work doesn’t have to be completed before the end of the event, just the portion of it that’s connected to the prompt. For instance, you can start a fic on day 31 for the manners prompt by just posting that one completed chapter, and then after the month is over keep adding more chapters to it.

How can I connect with the other people participating in this event?

Building personal connections between those in our fandom community is the best part of events like this, so while there’s no Discord server specifically for this event, there is the very active and positive “Jane Austen” Discord server where we can connect. Even if that sort of thing is not for you, please do your part to foster community by reblogging and commenting on people’s work!

Thanks for patiently waiting! I had a safe and easy flight, but the jet lag was a real troublemaker. But now I'm back, less brain foggy and ready to type. Without further ado, here is the next part!

Another day, another round of unreasonable customers not paying attention to the orders that are being called, and another coffee order from the caffeine fiend who has been showing up almost daily. The handsome young man caused quite the stir with the female employees, each rushing to be the one to take his order, only to be rejected. There was only one person he ordered from, and the one barista was Y/N. She did not know why or when this little routine started, but it was well known throughout the shifts. One customer came in on days only Y/N was in and only ever ordered from her. The idea would have been flattering if his level of consumption was not so concerning, and him obviously being younger than her and well off.

And he’s another Wayne. I think I’ve officially had it with Waynes. She let out a heavy sigh as she rang up her current customer. How long had it been since she last saw Jason? She wondered for the seventh time, looking at the digital date on the register. That awkwardly magical night to end it all was now two weeks behind her and not a single word from him. To be fair, I haven’t exactly reached out either, but what am I supposed to even say? I didn’t exactly ask him for pocket change, and he paid for dinner and made sure I was inside the building safe. Could he have just not been so great so that I could continue to hate him for some reason and move on with my life? It’s all his fault, clearly! She grabbed a cup, stuck on the label, and placed it in the queue before moving onto the next customer.

Citlalli heard her sigh again and visibly frowned. The night Y/N came back with the money was a shock. The two of them stared at her phone and refreshed the app screen several times, expecting it to all vanish like it was some sort of glitch and error. Come the next day, it was still very much there, which meant they were now debt free. They refused to celebrate just yet. Y/N transferred the money to her bank, it cleared in a few days. Y/N called the hotel and paid the rest of the charges over the phone. The hotel register must have been ancient because it felt like forever until the little ding sounded to let everyone know the transaction was completed. A copy of the receipt was emailed and with that, it was done. Seeing the bill as paid in full was such a sight to behold that Citlalli even began to tear up. They were back to where they were before the coffee fiasco, which was far better than being behind.

Everything was back to as it should be, or it should have been. Y/N was different. She was more relaxed now that she could drop a good number of shifts and others could cover, but there was a listlessness to her. Her motions were robotic, and she barely reacted to crazy customers who were prone to yelling or causing a scene. If anything, her lack of reaction made the tantrum thrower feel awkward, and they quietly just moved along. Maybe it was an adrenaline crash? A constant flight or fight mode was finally shut off and her body was simply trying to recover. The last time she had seen her like this was the time her cousin got them tangled with the Penguin. Citlalli was no better, the two did what needed to be done to keep the bills paid and their heads on their shoulders.

“Oi, chica, I’ve been calling your name for the last ten minutes!” She snapped her fingers in front of Y/N’s face. “Are you going to give me an answer or what?!”

“Huh, sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.” She jerked her head back as the sharp sound brought her senses back into focus. The long day of work had come to an end and neither of the two were on the night shift, so they returned home and began to relax and unwind. “Answer what?”

“Where did you get these and when were you going to tell me?!” She firmly tapped her finger on two identical rectangular pieces of paper that magically appeared on the coffee table. They were not just simple waxy slips, either. They were a nice weight that had a lovely deign with a date and time stamped on each with the name of an upcoming charity gala printed in cursive and the famous W logo of Wayne Enterprises Inc.

“Ah, those, well, those came from Nightwing when he left me a tip. I don’t think he meant to give them? At least, that’s the only thing that makes sense. I’m sure Bruce Wayne meant for him to have them to attend. I just don’t know how to go about returning them. How does one call a nighttime vigilante without lighting up the sky with the Bat Signal?” She pointed out the issue she was in.

“Three weeks,” Citlalli scowled. “Nearly a month of holding onto these, and you never once thought to tell me?! They were just laying there on the kitchen floor near the trash! Were you going to throw them out?!” She shoved her face in front of Y/N’s, their noses mere inches from touching.

“I wasn’t planning to throw them out, but like I said, there’s no way to return them!” Y/N moved her head back.

“¡Ay, ay, ay!” She stood back and hit the heel of her free palm into her forehead a few times. “We could use them! We could go! This could be how we celebrate finally being debt free!” Citlalli grabbed the two tickets and waved them at Y/N. “This is fate, it was meant to be! ¡Por Dios!” She once again dove into a flurry of Spanish as she paced up and down the small living room. From the way she waved her arms around, twirled, Y/N could only gather that the frenzied energy was excitement.

“Cici,” she firmly called out to her overly energized friend for the umpteenth time. “Don't you think these tickets are tracked? That Bruce Wayne would know which ticket is whose? So, when someone tries to use someone else's, they can cross-reference. And even if by some unknown luck, they let it slide, for whatever reason; and we take the leap and attend, we don't have anything to wear aside from old catering uniforms and whatever dresses we have for parties and dates. I’m not trying to be the buzzkill, but we’re not equipped for this.”

Citlalli looked between Y/N and the tickets several times before coming around the table and flopping down onto the couch with a heavy sigh of defeat. Y/N could only sadly smile at the scene. It hurt to burst the bubble, but it needed to be done. A somber silence filled the apartment, broken only by the noise from their neighbors or some troublemakers outside. They could officially forget about this and move on.

“My abuela can help us. She’s a great seamstress, and my tía Maribel and tía Estrella have their own boutique. It’s nowhere near Wayne level price tags, but they make good money and live in a safer city. They made my and all my cousins quinceañera dresses, too. I’m sure they can come up with something for this, or at least let us borrow two dresses for the evening.” Citlalli sat up and looked straight at Y/N.

“You’re really not going to let this go, huh?” Y/N could only sigh and shake her head. “The party is in two weeks. When will we have the time to go and try on dresses between work and my pending call to come into the precinct for a formal interview?”

“Mr. B owes us for covering all those shifts he had no one to cover for. He’ll be grateful we took off unpaid so he doesn't have to pay us as much overtime.” She rolled her eyes. “My family will even open the shop after hours just for us to look, we don't need to go during the work hours. We can buy roundtrip train tickets and spend the night there. We might not even have to call off work either, we can swap shifts with someone! This is perfect! Ok, that's what we’ll do! I'm going to go call my family and see what days are best!” Once again, Citlalli was off running and Y/N was left speechless and trying to figure out how they went from reason to a whole thought out plan.

You know what, why not? It doesn’t hurt to try. If she really wanted to go, I was going to suggest checking some consignment shops or thrift stores in the richer parts of the city. We can use that plan as backup, though. She gets to see her grandmother this way and I can say hi to her family as well. She smiled while watching Citlalli’s face light up while talking in Spanish to her family on the phone. Y/N was willing to deal with the Waynes if it meant her best friend would be happy. It’s the least I can do for all her family has done for me over the years, trouble aside.

It was done. There was nothing left to do and there was no reason to ever see her again unless he wanted to go get coffee. He was not against coffee, but he was not an addict like someone he knew. He glanced at the door as Tim walked in with a rather large cup. Jason frowned to himself, looking back down at his book, but his gaze quickly snapped back up to the third Robin. He knew that logo, it was the logo of the cafe Y/N worked at.

Why would he go all the way over there for a cup of coffee? Did he realize I kept going there for them? No, I only did that twice. He can’t have caught on to anything from just that no matter how smart he is. Maybe he liked it? It’s a popular place and he may have been scouting the area. He stared at the cup, almost glaring at it. Must be mice to not have a reason to go there and see her without a care in teh world.

“What?” Tim’s voice cut off his jealous thoughts. The second Wayne son raised an eyebrow at him. “You’re the one giving a death glare to my coffee, I think I have a right to know why.”

“I’m trying to figure out what number this one is for the day. Your coffee addiction is just starting to get concerning.” He retorted.

“I’m not a coffee ‘addict’,” Tim took a rather loud sip of his drink to punctuate his point. “I’m a caffeine-based life form and as such, I must honor the ways of my people.”“By drinking your three times your weight in coffee?” Jason snorted as he tried to stop from laughing. Caffeine-based life form? She’d get a kick out of that one. I wonder, has he met her? A sharp, stabbing pain suddenly pierced his chest.“Who am I to get between you and your crazy cult? Chug away,” he slightly bowed his head in respect. Tim nodded in return and left the room. Jason gently rubbed the spot above his heart, frowning once more. Must be nice indeed.

Welcome to the Baldur's Date Challenge!

Please be aware this event will include spoilers to characters, storylines, and endings, as well as NSFW content. Proceed with care!

The idea is to create something themed around a Date or Valentine Event. It doesn't even have to be romantic or positive, there are lots of ways to take this from Valentine's Cards from characters to slow burn romance to fully brutal heartbreak and violence. The choices are yours!

The Rules

By participating, even in the SFW version, you agree and confirm you are 18 years old or over.

All creators retain full rights to their works, subject only to the conditions of the platforms they share them on (ie, AO3)

Submissions must contain at least one named character from Baldur's Gate 3

Submissions must also be based around a date, valentine-type event, or similar

AUs, non-canon, alternate versions of characters are all WELCOME

You may choose your own prompt, or use the quiz to help you decide!

Poly Romance Welcome

Characters only, no actors or real people, other than using "Reader Insert" with 2nd person writing styles.

All works must be tagged appropriately for any CWs (please ask TavyliaSin for a list if required)

All characters must be 18 or over in the game as well as in the work you create

No characters in romantic relationships are to be related to each other.

Trans and gender-swapped characters are welcomed, unless it is only for the explicit purpose of making a canon homosexual couple into a heterosexual couple (eg, making Aylin a man so that the relationship with Isobel is straight)

Deadline is 10th Feb to allow for time to check entries

Collections will go live just before midnight on 13th Feb so they are ready to be viewed on Valentine's Day

How Do I Join?

You can either send your submissions directly to the AO3 Collections, or if you don't have AO3 you can wait until 14th Feb and reblog/retweet the posts I'll make for the collections on the day to add your contributions. It's open to EVERYONE who is 18+! Join in, give it a try! Submissions on AO3 close on 10th Feb 2024 (just before midnight GMT/UTC 0) so please try to get things in on time to be on AO3 so we have a few days to accept and check submissions. The collections will go live on 14th February for Valentine's just around midnight UTC0/GMT

Select "Post to Collection" to add your work! All works will be hidden until the collection releases on 14th.

Are there any Prompts?

Yes! Aside from the general theme there are prompts for art and writing (and anything else) on the following google form. You can roll dice to decide for you as each question has numbered answers and instructions on the dice to use! But you don't have to stick to the result you get - choose what you like. You don't even have to roll dice at all if you don't want to, just take a look at the selection for some ideas and choose what's interesting in it.

You can enter as many pieces as you like, so please use this to have fun and enjoy yourselves~

interested in becoming a member of svthub? read our rules carefully, then check out our official post!

— we are looking for 18+ svt fanfic writers!

must be an active writer for seventeen (you can write for other groups, but you must regularly write svt-related works)

must be an adult 18+ (minors are not welcome and will be blocked & added to a public blacklist)

must be comfortable being around nsfw content and discussions

must be following the network blog

must join our discord (required for updates about the network, events, etc.)

must have at least one svt fic or at least three svt smaller works (headcanons, texts, smau, etc.) posted on your blog before applying** ** if you are a long fic writer (meaning, you regularly write 10k+ word fics/series for other groups) you may be accepted without any svt works posted, if you can show proof that you are actively working on a svt fic. this will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and you may be added as a "temporary" member until you have posted for svt. since we are a network specifically for seventeen, we require part (or all) of your works to be about svt.

we typically add members in groups once a month. our admins have busy lives outside of tumblr so we may fall behind on adding members, but if it has been more than 1-2 months and you have not been contacted, feel free to reach out to us.

our main priority at svthub is creating a drama-free environment, and our admins and moderators prioritize the safety and comfort of our members. we will not entertain any negativity or behaviors that contribute to a toxic atmosphere in the network.

we do not tolerate any form of discrimination or bigotry, including: racism, homophobia, transphobia, kinkshaming, harassment, and cyberbullying.

svthub is strictly an 18+ network. any member caught lying about their age will be banned from the network and added to a blacklist that is shared with our members and affiliates.

any member caught committing plagiarism or content theft will be removed from the network immediately.

failure to abide by all of svthub’s rules will result in a strike. svthub operates on a three-strike system; each warning will be thoroughly reviewed before any action is taken, and after three strikes, you will be removed from the network.

members are required to join the svthub discord. this is where you will promote your work, receive important info about the network, and have opportunities to join collabs. we do not require a certain level of activity within the discord, but we encourage you to interact with other writers and get to know your fellow members! we are all part of the same community, so who knows? you might meet your next best friend :)

we highly encourage you to reblog from other members! supporting each other is the reason the network exists. it’s no secret that all tumblr creators are struggling with engagement. the password for applying is: bongbongie. reblogging is a great way to make friends, and if you help others, you can expect the same in return.

we welcome members who are multi-stans! you can promote your work for other groups in our discord server, however, only seventeen-related content will be officially reblogged by the network.

keep the admins informed about hiatuses, url changes, and other updates to your blog. failure to let us know on repeated occasions will result in a strike.

credit all your sources, including (but not limited to): beta readers, banner makers, and anyone who helps you brainstorm or give feedback. if the idea wasn’t 100% yours to begin with, credit every person who helped. don’t just add their name, but specifically tag their blog: it brings visibility to their blog and benefits everyone involved.

don’t write someone else’s ideas unless they have given you permission.

failure to credit your sources on repeated occasions will result in a strike.

content we will not reblog: - any works (sfw or nsfw) about minors - graphic descriptions of rape, noncon, dubcon - romanticizing relationships involving incest - glamorization of mental illnesses, self-harm, eating disorders, suicide, or any other forms of abuse

svthub reserves the right to refuse to reblog any work that breaks our guidelines or is deemed harmful.

what is a network? we are simply a group of writers who promote each others' work! the purpose of joining a network is that we will reblog your fics to help spread them to a broader audience, and in the process, get to know your fellow writers! svthub also hosts collabs, which are fun themes that you can write about. you can check out our previous collabs in our pinned post!

do i need to have a certain amount of followers before i can apply? no! anyone is welcome to apply, as long as you meet our criteria: you are 18+, write for svt, and not currently on hiatus!

how often do i need to post to stay a member? we do not have a requirement for how active you need to be, as long as you keep us updated! if you need a specific time period - we'd like at least one fic posted in a year, but we don't keep tabs on this. we value our members for who they are, not how much content they can finish in a certain amount of time :)

do i need to be mutuals with svthub members before i can apply? nope, in fact we encourage you to join if you don't know anyone! svthub is a place to make new friends and get to know other members of the community; you don't need any personal connections in order to get in!

i'm still nervous about applying. what should i do now? if you still have questions, you're always welcome to reach out to one of our admins and we'd be happy to answer them for you! svthub is open to everyone, and our goal is to make this space accessible for all carat writers!

There have been quite a bit of "guilt trippy" and "forceful" posts recently about how you must reblog everything you give a Like, how reblogging is like the lifeblood of this site, and so forth. And yeah, it's true, reblogging is very helpful for everyone involved, especially on Tumblr.

But I want to reassure others (and myself too!) who fret about these (at times) pressing and aggressive-sounding posts. You don't have to reblog if you don't want your blog to be filled with them. Your blog may have a theme/specific subject like it being an art, ask, or roleplay blog. It's fine to not want to clutter your blog(s) with things unrelated to your blog's theme.

The upside of Tumblr is that you can have side blogs and you can dedicate one of them to reblogs only. You can name it whatever you want if you don't want others to quickly find it, in case the stuff you enjoy is on a more personal level you aren't willing to publicly share. I have one too because I'm one of the people who likes to stay on theme with their blogs. It's a bit of a hassle to reblog posts to a side blog if you aren't used to it yet, but you'll get it in time. Just make sure you have an avatar and banner on this side blog, and maybe a short bio/description, to show you aren't a bot. That helps with not getting your side blog blocked.

The thoughts of "I don't want to reblog-spam someone's notifications" or "I don't want to flood my mutuals and followers' feeds with many reblogs" are valid, but still ones you should try and put aside. It's not up to you to curate other people's online experiences; it's their own. If someone doesn't want their posts to be reblogged, they can opt out of that. If a follower/mutual doesn't want to see certain reblogs, they can use Xkit (Rewritten) or whatever tools to hide or blacklist them. You reblog what makes you happy or like to share, and if you're more comfortable doing so from a side blog, then please do. While tags in reblogs are appreciated, they aren't a must so don't feel pressured about that either.

While I know all this is supposed to be common knowledge, I just wanted to make this post in case some of my followers are nervous about the whole reblog subject, or are still learning about how Tumblr works. You've got this!

Communities are the newest Beta feature that Tumblr staff has rolled out, and it looks very promising! Unfortunately it's also incredibly confusing. So here's an informative guide on how to make your own, or join another, community using my own experience alongside information from the Tumblr help article "Communities". This article seems to have been posted when it was still freshly in Beta, so the information may not be entirely up to date. As new updates roll out I will update this guide accordingly.

Making a Community

Making a Tumblr community is easy, but not guaranteed. Right now there is a waitlist and communities may or may not be approved. When making your new community, first you must choose a name and your tagline. Your tagline will basically be describing the page for your audience and prospective members.

Next, choose whether to be public or private. I recommend public, as it is a community and you want more people to see it and to join.

Your community appearance is up next, and you need to choose your banner and avatar for the community.

Finally, your tags! Add up to ten tags to describe your community.

MAKE SURE that you are completely satisfied with all of these, as of right now there is no way to change them. At all.

Now it's the waiting game to see whether or not Tumblr will approve your community! If it is approved, Tumblrbot will message you saying "Your community was approved! 🎉 Check it out here: ..." and send a link to your new community.

The Roles in a Community

According to the Tumblr guide "Communities", each community has a few different roles available. Admins, the one who makes the community, can invite users, see (and cancel) pending invites, and delete posts and comments. The moderator role is upcoming and not yet available, but they will only be able to delete posts and comments. Members, the person who joins a created community, can interact through reacting to posts, leaving comments, making new posts, and reblogging posts into the community. Non-members cannot do any of this, but they can lurk and see the public parts of the community without interacting.

Joining a Community

Joining a community is a murky land, but let's navigate it together!

To join an active community, first you must find it. You can only access a community through a direct link, as they are not searchable in their own section yet! You can either look through the tag "Tumblr Communities" and try to find one through posts there, or maybe someone you're following has shared a link to their own community. Mine can be found at https://www.tumblr.com/communities/weheartit if you want to test any of this out ;)

Go to the page for the community! See if they have any posted rules, their about page, etc and make sure it's a good fit for you. Once sure, you can message the admin (their username should be publicly available) and ask for them to invite you. At this point I'm not sure when you can request to join via the community directly, but it's definitely upcoming. It's important to note that you cannot join a community as a side blog! I repeat, to join a community it has to be through your main blog. (this is where I ran into trouble for writing this section!! so if you guys can crowdsource this with me I would appreciate it!)

The maximum amount of members in a community is 500, and has potential to be increased in the future depending on popularity of this feature. The roles of each community member are outlined above, which details their range of actions.

To reblog posts there, it so far appears that must be done through the desktop site instead of the mobile app, and can't be done through quick reblog. You need to manually choose to reblog it to the community you're a member of, and share it to the community. Note that the community admin or mod (upcoming) may remove it at their discretion. If it's a public community you can lurk without joining, but remember that as a non-member you cannot interact with the posts and some features will be locked for you!

It's alright! It's not your fault, and we take no offense. That must be rather irritating on your end, but we understand that not everyone will want their posts on our blog and will take steps to prevent us from reblogging from them. I'd rather they do so rather than worry about reaching out to everyone who tags us to ask them to delete their reblog or remove the tag, or about adding some kind of "don't tag funnier-as blogs" banner to all their posts, haha. This also goes for those who block us to prevent us from reblogging their post; I don't mind when people take the easiest and most straightforward steps available to them to keep us all from ending up in an uncomfortable situation. It surprises me, sometimes, but I understand why people do it.

Although, honestly, we get so many notifications that I'm not sure we'd notice a disappearing one due to something like this; we're still finding posts from years ago that we were apparently tagged in, and our notifications have been glitching lately, anyway. Tags may be one of the most reliable ways to show us a post, but alas, like all Tumblr features, they're held together by spite and duct tape. ... This is to say, you don't have to worry about your tag disappearing. It wouldn't be the first time something prevented us from seeing a submission. Thank you for thinking of us, even if it didn't work out.

CFWC - New Year Announcements!

Hey everyone! Happy 2024! It's the start of the new year and the perfect time to share some news with you!

New Year, New Look!

We've rolled out new banners, PFPs, etc., to welcome the new year. If you notice, the 10 fics in the banner are different from the top 10 of 2023. That's because the banner is updated quarterly. Each quarter, the new top 10 will be reflected in order from first (top left) to tenth (bottom right) place. So these are your top ten for the 4th quarter of 2023. Check back in April to see how your favorites stack up!

We're throwing the Thursday away... kind of. Effective immediately, you can post your throwback fics or art between Thursday and Sunday. Yep, art will now be included! ○ Welcome to the Lapydiaries! We are a 25+ Multifandom network.

For being part of the network the following is required:

○ Be 25 or older, minors are not accepted. Lying about your age will result in membership termination and becoming blacklisted.

Rules

As members of the network the following rules are expected from you to ensure that the experience within the network is enjoyable and safe for everyone.

General Rules

○ Lapydiaries welcomes everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, education, background, fandom, etc.—therefore no hate, harassment or bullying of any kind will be tolerated. Everyone must be treated respectfully.

○ All members of the network will be given three strikes for rule breaks before they are terminated from the network.

○ The admin team reserves the right to turn away applicants, give strikes, terminate members, and blacklist non-members from the network for any reason deemed necessary and not already listed.

Content Rules

○ Blatant reposting, stealing, and/or plagiarising work that is not your original content while being part of our net is not tolerated and will result in immediate termination and a permanent ban. Please note: The members will receive one private message warning them of any missing requirements on fics using our tag. After three continuing issues, the member will receive a strike.

It is necessary for the members to respond in a timely manner. If you're not answering a message within two weeks, the admins have to assume you're ignoring them, resulting in a possibility of membership termination.

In general tagging your work as "dark topics", "explicit or sensitive themes" is not acceptable and will result in a private message. Everything needs to be tagged appropriately (even if it means revealing a plot point), to ensure no reader could be possible triggered/harmed by your works.

If the members are uncertain about their written works being acceptable for a reblog, they can run it by the admin team.

Get Ready...!!

It’s the start of the 2nd Term 2023 Inuyasha Fandom Awards!!

We hope everyone had a great start to the year! A huge shout-out to everyone who participated last term and made it such a huge success! We look forward to all of the amazing new fanfiction and fanart to be nominated and shared with this beautiful community!

A special thank you goes out to @elevenharbor for donating her time and talent to creating fantastic banners for everyone! (If you have not received your award banner for last term, please reach out to one of the mods asap!)

We also wanted to mention that our dear @umacaking is stepping down from being a moderator at this time. We have loved and appreciated everything she has given to these awards over the years, and will always keep a mod-spot open for her should she choose to return.

With Uma’s parting, we have now welcomed a new moderator onto our team. Please give a warm welcome to the wonderful @dchelyst! We cannot wait to see how FC grows with her addition!

There have been some changes to the categories as well that may effect you as nominators:

The Fanfiction Roulette Category for this term will be Best Antagonist Portrayal. This is defined as: Stories that have a developed antagonist with motive and ambition. This does not necessarily mean a “villain” of the story, but any one person who causes conflict for the story. A large part of the story must surround this antagonist and the “heroes” overcoming the conflict. Keep in mind that characterization must also be considered depending on who the antagonist is. [Nomination must include the specific character]

The Fanart Roulette Category for this term will be Best Line Art. This is defined as: An uncolored illustration that consists of distinct straight lines or curves that represents a 2D or 3D picture.

By request, we have also extended the time between the Nomination and the Voting Period, as well as extended the Voting Period, in order to give readers and viewers the chance to appreciate all the works nominated. We hope the added timeframe creates a more enjoyable experience!

What is The Feudal Connection?

The Feudal Connection is a place where amazing fanart and fanfiction in the Inuyasha fandom is recognized, admired, and offered the chance to be nominated for an award! In addition, it also gives lesser known authors and artists an opportunity to have their work shared to a broader extent and receive the admiration and recognition they deserve!

How do you determine which fanfictions and fanarts are nominated?

The Feudal Connection is fueled by nominations submitted by the Inuyasha community. Once someone sends in a nomination, the moderators review the nomination to verify that it complies with the rules in place. None of the pieces nominated are by “suggestions”. They are specific pieces of work nominated by members of the community.

How do I nominate?

You can send us a submission in one of our nomination formats. Your submission will not be posted and therefore remain anonymous, only to be seen by the moderators. You can send multiple nominations in one submission, as long as the nomination formats are used for each nomination. Please select your fiction nominations carefully; spelling and grammar are important parts of being an author. Anything deemed unacceptable by the moderator team will be disqualified. Once nominations are complete, we’ll post the list of accepted nominations so you can read and view them before voting.

Can I nominate my own art/fiction?

You cannot nominate yourself. Doing so will result in the nomination not being accepted and a warning from the award moderators.

How long do I have to nominate?

You will have 2 weeks from the start of the nominating term to send in nominations. These dates will be posted at the beginning of each term.

Can I nominate anonymously?

No. This is due to the fact that no one is allowed to nominate their own work. Also, if a nomination is disqualified, the moderators will be reaching out to the person who nominated to allow them another opportunity to nominate.

Can I promote my own works of fiction/art to be nominated for a term?

No. You are not allowed to self-promote your own work during the nomination period. This includes not being allowed to request others to nominate your work in specific categories. However, you are allowed to promote the nomination period of the awards by stating something similar to “go nominate your favorites” or the like, as long as you don’t promote your own work to being nominated. Violation of this rule will result in a warning. If there is a second offense, your work will be banned from being nominated in any future terms.

How many fanfics/fanarts can I nominate?

Only one fiction or artwork can be chosen for each category per person. Meaning, a story or artwork can only be nominated by one person per category. Therefore, any secondary nominations will be disregarded and the duplicate nominator will be allowed to submit another story or artwork in its place.

Is there a limit to how many works can be nominated per category?

Yes. Only 10 fictions or artwork can be nominated per category. Once that category has reached its nomination limit, no more nominations will be accepted into that category for the current term.

What fanfiction/fanart is eligible to be nominated?

What is the nominating format for fanfics? For fanart?

Can I nominate a fanfic/fanart for more than one category?

Yes. The same story or artwork may be nominated by the same person in up to two different categories.

Are there any restrictions in regards to romantic pairings being nominated?

Due to the harmful nature of incest, these awards do not recognize InuSess as a pairing that is allowed to be nominated. Please see the Yashahime tab for information regarding the SessRin pairing.

What are the categories?

The categories for both fanart and fanfiction can be found in the Categories link.

Can I nominate a fanart/fanfic that includes Original Characters or Crossover Characters?

Yes. For Fanfics, 80% of the story needs to be focused on Inuyasha characters and the development of the story. OC’s can be in a story, but the main focus needs to be on the Inuyasha characters. Artwork can contain Non-IY characters where specified, but NO art may contain only OC’s or Non-IY characters. (i.e. Artwork of Inuyasha and Kagome’s “OC children” are unacceptable without other genuine IY characters present in the piece)

How do I nominate a piece that has multiple authors or creators?

If multiple people are listed as the author or creators, please verify who created the piece, as some may simply be listed because it was a gift to that person; and please include this verification in your nomination (ie: simply state that you verified that these contributors all had a hand in creating the piece).

If it is a true collaborations between multiple people, they all would go in as one creator. This means that each person would be listed as the creator and the nomination would count toward each creator’s nomination limit.

For example, if a creator was nominated for a collaboration and two other separate works, only the collaboration and one of the other works would be accepted for that creator, depending on which nominations came in first.

I don’t want my fanart/fanfic nominated. Can I opt out? How?

Once a nomination has been approved by the moderators, the author/artist will be made aware of the nomination. Every author/artist retains the right to have their work be removed from the nomination list and can opt out of future nominations.

If you do allow your fanart to be nominated, you are also allowing the moderators to save your work in order to use it strictly during the voting period of the term. Once the term is completed, the artwork is then removed from the moderators’ personal use.

How many terms are there?

There will be 3 terms total per year. Each term will be broken down by dates prior to the term starting.

How long is each term?

Each term will be approximately 8 weeks.

How long is the voting period?

The voting period will last for 3 weeks.

How do I vote?

Once the voting period begins, the moderators will post a link to the voting form that will list all of the nominations and which categories they have been nominated for. You can click on the link to be taken to the voting poll, however, you must sign in as you will be allowed only one vote per category.

Can I vote for myself?

Technically there is no rule against voting for yourself. Some people want to support themselves, and we don’t want to discourage that. After all, creating is hard work and we want people to feel like they can toot their own horn! However, we’ve also had the opposite, where people feel “weird” to vote for themselves. We leave it up to you guys to do what makes you feel comfortable!

When are the winners announced?

At the end of each term.

What happens if my fanfic/fanart wins? Do I need to do anything?

Please send one of the moderators or the FeudalConnection ask box your preferred email address so that we may send you your award(s) as soon as possible. Afterward, just kick back, relax, and enjoy the feeling of being recognized for your hard work!

I want to nominate an artist/author who has won in the past. Are they still eligible to be nominated?

There is a Winner Ban in place. Once any piece of artwork or fanfiction has won a First Place award for a category, it automatically becomes ineligible and cannot be nominated again for that category. However, it can be nominated for other categories after three consecutive terms have passed (ie: one year since that piece won) as long as it fits within that definition. We currently do not have a rule against nominating an author/artist back into the category they won for in the past, as long as it is a different piece of work that is being nominated.

The Winner Ban does not apply to works that have won Second or Third place in any category.

Why are the nomination/voting lists not in alphabetical order?

This is inherently due to keeping FeudalConnection as highly functional as possible. Spending more time on this takes away time from other necessary things that make FC run.

People may choose the first option of each category just to say they voted. During the entire of FC’s existence, the collected data has never shown the support for the first listed nomination of a category to be favorited simply for being the first listed. The moderators have kept a very close eye on this during the years FC has been running. The voting poll never demands an answer for every single category, giving people the freedom to simply skip that category if they don’t want to vote.

But its easy to place them in alphabetical order on an excel sheet. We use Google Sheets, and this is possible, however, it would not do this unless we highlighted each category individually. This process would take more time, and leave less time for shifting through nominations.

Why not split up the nominations per moderator? Splitting the nominations by mods seems ideal, but is not realistic. The moderators each live a life outside of FC, as well as have their own creative endeavors. The moderators are not always 100% available for every part of FC’s current term, and other mods may need to pick up the slack.

Rules of Eligibility

Fiction and Fanart published on any public or free site can be submitted for an award provided they meet all of the requirements of the nominations. These sites include but are not limited to Tumblr, Fanfiction.net, AO3, Deviantart, ect. If the validity of a site is uncertain, reach out to a moderator.

Multi-chapter fics must have been updated within the past 3 years of the nomination quarter. Fanart must have been created within the past 3 years of the nomination quarter. One-shots and drabbles must have been posted within the past 3 years of the nomination quarter.

If the work was posted onto several different locations, the earliest date and time stamp will be taken and checked against the quarter’s period of eligibility. Stamps posted within reviews can be used to date a work and/or its chapters. Also, authors and artists can be contacted to verify timeframes.

You cannot nominate yourself. Doing so will result in the nomination not being accepted and a warning from the award moderators.

You are only allowed to nominate one fic/fanart per category.

Each piece of Art or Fanfiction is allowed to be nominated into a maximum of two different categories per quarter. The nominations will be taken on a first come first serve basis, meaning that once a piece of Art or Fanfiction is nominated into two categories, it will not be allowed to be nominated into other categories, and each subsequent nomination will be rejected.

Each author/artist is allowed to be nominated twice per quarter. Meaning, an author/artist can only have a max of two of their creations be nominated per quarter. So be sure and pick your favorites carefully!

The work must be in compliance with the definition of the category into which it was nominated.

Both adult and non-adult artwork are acceptable for nominations; however, any adult artwork showing explicit sexual nature will only be allowed to be nominated into the NSFW categories.

Pieces of artwork or fanfiction that depicts an underage character romantically involved with an older adult, as well as any incestual relationships, will not be accepted as a nomination.
