okay, so, what if aya has been passively exercising an ability this entire time.
aya koda (author) wrote and reflected on the profundity of the past, observing even her most complicated relationships with immense and broadminded humanity. she was responsive and filial in her conservation of others through memory, even when communicating with herself through them. further, her writing is not cerebral or fanciful or nostalgic. it is contained within narrow, mundane realities like homemaking, bitterly aging parents, stifling expectations, physical illness, and the material world. but the wisdom, humor, and frankness of her sharp attention to detail lend an elegant and mature candor to her impressions of the past imbuing meaning into the commonplace, without romanticizing or deifying it. the distinctiveness of her internity radiates optimism and magnetic humility, rendering her world remarkable.
in other words, she's capable of sweeping ennui from even atrophy through sheer, clearminded ardence, refusing to cheapen her world despite its fickle propensity for change — and that is what bsd!aya brings to her every panel. she's so small and is only a civilian, but she is never swept beneath the gravity of the scenes unfolding around her. because even though she is little, she expands in others their immense capacity for change by enveloping them within the wideness of her own sincerity and perceptive verve. but I think it's more than just her energy that galvanizes others; I think that's her skill.
(analysis + skill explanation under the cut to spare everyone's dashes)
like, that's how she keeps collecting all of these older brother and father figures.
Kunikida becomes shaken when confronted by his helplessness and loss of life, he will waver and curl into himself until grounded again. In the Cannibalism arc, Ranpo brought him back to his feet, but he still sought to self flagellate after. In the Hunting Dogs arc, he threw himself from a helicopter and absorbed the impact of a grenade with his own hands to mitigate the potential for lost life, but not before visibly panicking. But, in the Walking Alone OVA, he is tied to a pillar and confronted by his past failure in the form of his former student, who he not only didn't reach, but seemingly instigated into an act of domestic terrorism. A young man, like Rokuzo, an explosion, like the Azure Messengers'—this time staking hundreds of civilians lives and that of a ten year old child who has a bomb strapped to her chest while he is being physically beaten with Ideals and enduring PTSD flashbacks of Sasaki's death (who he also envisioned while under Q's curse). But he's scarcely lowered his head when Aya calls out, "Kunikida!" — to which he replies, "That's Kunikida-san," which he previously told her to use for him because when he cares to mentor others, he tends to lecture them and demand proper behavior from them. From that moment forward, he is in his best form, stalwart and brave and resourceful and utterly serene against that which he cannot change or control— even relying on Yosano's schedule for the critical moment.
It's easy to miss that this scene contrasts with the other, similar instances where he's frozen or faltered, because he does find himself again each time. That's because the capacity is always within him, and he's far more balanced than anyone gives him credit (especially when set against his irl...). But, he isn't serene, his fear of loss and lack of control are things he still grapples with, and they usually spill from him in these moments and their aftermath. He hasn't fully self actualized, and although he pulls through each time, ideals intact, he has to wrestle that from himself (which he alludes to quite literally in Dead Apple). Yet, even as he was thrust into a full-blown panic attack, he caught that Aya called him by his name without a suffix and was rendered self-possessed enough to correct her, and then seamlessly move into what needed to be done without a moment of doubt. Then, even after that, he is thrown into a literal trolley problem. But, again, he doesn't waver. He remembers Sasaki and Rozuko, but not involuntarily; he invokes them with aplomb and acceptance, holding them and what they meant to him as strengthening, rather than destabilizing, his commitment to his ideals. Despite his habit of approaching those he cares about rigidly and patronizingly, he fluidly sinks to his knees and embraces Aya (and thus his own humanity and limitations) sincerely and warmly, promising her that he will hold her through it and cradling her without any awkwardness or reticence.
The name of the OVA comes from the literal translation of "Doppo," which means lone wanderer and invokes the image of a solitary wanderer— but "lone" isn't a character invoking loneliness; it implies that he's peerless, unparalleled, matchless. His name is a double entendre speaking to his individualism and invoking the image of an iconoclast heroic figure standing above the fray of mediocrity— which is the impression that made his former student feel taunted and spat upon. But, he sheds his lofty veneer in this OVA and expresses the height of who he's capable of becoming when grounded in reality but unhibited by fear and self-doubt: the Confucian virtue of ren, meaning humaness or benevolence. For Confucius, it was illustrated by love for others, including within relationships between people. But it further encompasses an inner drive for altruism that's cognizant that one is never alone in the home, the state, the world, and, ultimately, the cosmology of the universe.
If it were only Kunikida, I would think it an illustration of what he'll be as a leader or a moment of clarity. But Aya manages to reach Bram past centuries of ennui and morbid depression and learned helplessness. Not immediately, but by satisfying his seemingly silly and, to him, unattainable want for something as mundane as a radio. She does him one better and introduces him to streaming & earbuds, and quite literally expands his whole world so that he's, however briefly, no longer immobilized within the claustrophobic confines of his coffin, but floating untethered in the ever expanding vacuum of space. He wanted a radio, but, really, he wanted music that would take him outside of himself and the limitations of his reality, which he could consistently have with him in lieu of company to transcend the constraints of his purgatory. Shortly thereafter, despite Fukuchi having command over his kin through the sword and seal, Bram regains his air of nobility to snap, "Impudent!" at a vampire such that the vampire recoiled and even l looked askance. Further, like Kunikida, Bram is swept into his memories when he looks at Aya— but not wistfully or bitterly. They're light and beautiful and remind him of who he is and what is precious to him— his family and his vassals, his duty to whom had given him purpose and meaning. I'd relate his oath to Aya and his renewed observance of his role before his kin to the Confucian virtue li, meaning propriety, or observance of the formal rules of proper conduct conducive to social harmony.
She does it to Fyodor, too, whose triggering detail is her dirty hair. He attributes his compulsion to spare her as Bram's lingering oath, but I think it's a reflection of Fyodor's own inclination towards children. (I know he kills children in canon, but his perceptions of suffering and salvation are violently skewed, and so his expressions of righteousness (as in the Confucian virtue yi) look to us like sadistic violence.)
Which is to say, I think Aya brings out the highest capacity in others, triggered when they latch onto a detail she offers them that may appear mundane, but which touches on some core aspect of who they are or their memories.
I think she'll do the same for Akutagawa, which will be part of the transformation he undergoes from the version of him clinging to the spider's thread from irl!Akutagawa's short story of the same name (the headspace that causes Rashomon to resemble spider legs) to becoming the dragon complement to Atsushi's tiger (the imagery invoked by his armor from the teaser at the end of S5). The Confucian virtue I'd assign him would be xin, aligning ones actions with one's word/ honesty, sincerity, and faithfulness. Akutagawa keeps his promises.
(I specifically think Aya is elevating the Confucian virtue each character most embodies, which aligns with irl!Aya Koda's education in Confucian ethics as taught by her father; if that isn't apparent yet.)
This ability is more conceptual than many of the others, but the precedent for an ability like this is there in Fukuzawa's All Men Are Created Equal and Lippmann's unnamed ability, which reacted to and countered others' murderous intent.
Anyway, so yeah. I think Aya's ability is a mirror into the best, most focused versions of those who see in her some detail revealing themselves.

Had a think about it, and I believe the finale was going to cause issues regardless because, really, we’re never going to be satisfied with an ending we didn’t truly want to happen & that’s ok. It’s ok that it’s divisive because people process differently and we’d all an alternative ideology as to how ghosts should conclude.
Essentially, I’m glad the team could end the show on their terms & write a finale they were happy with, but I equally understand people’s dissatisfaction. For me, there were parts I enjoyed and parts that felt off.
I enjoyed the chess husbands, naturally - Julian’s compulsion to make Robin happy really touched me because he’s never really cared about anyone like that before. Unlike s4 he wasn’t doing it to prove a point - it just came naturally. I thought it was interesting to utilise the ghost’s powers in a situation that ‘made them known’ - I know a similar thing happened in the grey lady but I still enjoyed the irony of Julian finally making an impact on the world but, even in death, it wasn’t with a positive outcome. Some things never change (a point I’ll get to later).
The humour landed in places for me too, like Robin being called a pet and his ‘no’s at feeling Christmassy. I also loved the orgy cut & Cap’s baby noises.
What didn’t work for me, like most people, was their leaving after the last resort’s conclusion. It felt a little contradictory - but half of me feels this episode was written/planned quite some time ago hence some characters regressing to their roots (Thomas and Alison, Kitty’s Jealousy).
I thought Robin’s end speech, for a Robin speech, lacked its usual profundity. Yeah, it had the tear-jerking quality because it was finale but substance-wise it felt quite generic and flat? Idk. Like, we know Christmas isn’t about commercialised commodities, every piece of Christmas media on the planet had told us this.
Equally, the ambiguity of the ending/lack of faces (for me) missed the usual friendliness and domestic quality of ghosts (like the s3 finale, for example). As much as knowing all the ghosts were there it felt odd not to see them as throughout the show the charm came from sharing Alison’s gift, as an audience.
There were a few plot points that to me didn’t quite work for me too. Robin said the ever since Alison he’d enjoyed Christmas yet he doesn’t feel the spirit until she decides to leave? The focus on Mike’s Mum was interesting, but as stated her lone, ‘overbearing’ trope had been utilised previously and took the attention away from the MCs somewhat. Personally, I was never a massive fan of the baby plot so I knew that wouldn’t appeal to me so much. The characters regressing to pre-development felt a little frustrating but I sort of understand why they chose to?
Quintessentially, you stays how you dies for better or worse - and I think they were trying to prove that nothing really changes for the ghosts, nothing ever truly moves on and that juxtaposes with Alison and Mike’s new chapter? Like, the ghosts have grown as a result of her influence but there’s only so much Alison could offer? She’s alive and changing and they sort-of realised that - which is character development in itself, I suppose.
They love her and want her to be happy - the show reached a sort-of cycle in that they wanted her to go because they hate her, wanted her to stay because they need her, then let her go because they love her.
Maybe that’s too generic or cheap for a show like ghosts - maybe the ending lacked substance or sense and, to an extent, I agree. But that’s what I think they were trying to do and in part it worked, in part it didn’t. But I’m glad nobody moved on because it embodies the ‘core’ of ghosts that they’re always there just the same in limbo and the world keeps on spinning.
Anyway, those are my thoughts :)

just wanted to say thank you so much for noting down the podcasts you listen to! I've been using them as a jumping off point to listen or discover new things and a lot of them are great. would you ever consider doing more recs after November is over?
Oh sure. I mean, I do periodic posts that are just "a list of what I'm listening to" but at this point it’s so long and there are many that I’m on the fence about, so let me do a highlights reel.
History:
Behind The Bastards - Historically accurate but also quite informal and funny, all about people who are terrible, historic and contemporary; just did a brilliant two-parter about how cigarettes invented/ruined everything, which is a great place to start.
Noble Blood - Histories of the nobility and frequently of their grim demises.
Cautionary Tales - An examination of how historical events can teach us lessons about what we assume, overlook, and misunderstand.
Bedside Rounds - Medical history, with a bend towards medical education (in the sense that med students can get class credit for listening); I find it highly accessible as a non-doctor but I'm not sure everyone would.
One Year - Every season, One Year picks a single year (most recently 1942) and examines the events, culture, and icons of that year.
You’re Dead To Me - Each episode, the host, a historian, and a comedian discuss a specific historical figure or event to learn more about them and also make fun of them.
Culture:
99% Invisible - Roman Mars soothingly talks about the invisible design that impacts our everyday lives.
Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend - A talk show host got tired of doing eight-minute bits and now does longform interviews with notable entertainers; it's still very comedic but there's a profundity to the interviews that I absolutely did not expect and love.
Ear Hustle - the culture of prison, made by prisoners at San Quentin (as well as their loved ones and outsiders who regularly interact).
Embedded - I'm never quite sure how to define Embedded, but they generally do short newsy serials on events of the day; they've covered police brutality, world cup soccer, the January 6th treason, and other local, national, and global events.
Mailin’ It - The official podcast of the US Postal Service, covering all things postal. Hit and miss, but when it hits it’s absolutely fascinating.
The Allusionist - the history of words, often with a particular eye towards words that come from, or interact with, marginalized cultures.
Gender Reveal - Queer discussions surrounding gender, generally with a new person each week who speaks about their experiences with gender. Bit hit and miss for me, I’ve found some of the guests rather offputting, but overall highly educational.
Radiolab - I have no idea what this show’s goal, theme, or target audience is; it’s just fascinating short pieces on fascinating topics.
Entertainment:
IDEOTV (I Don't Even Own A Television) - Two friends read terrible books and dissect them, sometimes discovering they're better than they let on.
How Did This Get Made - All about terrible movies, with three comedic actors and often guest stars. (I skip the ones that are just Paul because he's fun when he's talking to people but insufferable when he's unaccompanied.)
It's Christmastown - Two sports journalists analyzing and dissect Hallmark Christmas movies, often with guests; really funny and smart takes on movies "made for the gentlest of people".
True Crime:
True Crime Obsessed - I'm a "pates at the five" for this one, which features two friends discussing true crime media (not true crime directly); Patrick and Gillian are queer creators and a fascinating duo to listen to, I'd listen to them discuss anything.
A Date With Dateline - Also true crime media rather than true crime, Katie and Kimberly discuss Dateline episodes old and new, make puns, and occasionally veer off into pop culture.
Bad People - A criminal psychologist and a stand-up comedian discuss specific crimes and criminals as a way of focusing a lens on western culture's relationship to crime and mental health. I occasionally do not agree with some of their hot takes, but they at least are asking extremely interesting questions.
Criminal - A journalistic take on true crime, covering stories that are less sensational or well-known than most true crime podcasts, with a lot of original research and interviews.
News:
Planet Money - All things economic, in the US and abroad, though focused in America.
The Indicator - produced by Planet Money, it’s a shortform podcast covering economic events and indicators daily.
The Journal - A slightly less shortform but still usually pretty short daily podcast covering current events, particularly in the tech and economy niches.
Food:
Gravy - Food and culture presented by the Southern Foodways Alliance, with an obvious specific bend towards foodways of the American South.
Proof - The podcast of America’s Test Kitchen, discussing food history, modern food movements, and other things foodie.
The Sporkful - general food culture and news; most notable as the podcast which gave us Cascatelli pasta.
Fiction:
Levar Burton Reads - Levar Burton reads short stories, generally SFF; he just started a new season so I’m not quite caught up yet.
The Magnus Archives - I listened up to the end of S4 but didn’t care for S5; it’s currently kickstarting a few new seasons. Not sure if I’ll listen yet, but the first four seasons as they stand are great horror.
Phoebe Reads A Mystery - Phoebe Judge, of Criminal, reads a chapter a day of various mystery novels or great works of literature. At present it’s on hold and may be indefinitely but the past episodes (including all of Dracula) are well worth a listen.
Old Gods of Appalachia - A gothic fiction podcast mingling magical realism, fantasy, horror, and alternate history; I really enjoy it when I listen but it is a very sprawling story and they take long breaks so I’m not caught up because I have to relisten to it every time they come back from a break or I lose the thread.
Short Runs:
These podcasts were short serials that are well worth listening to even though they are now complete:
In Plain Sight - The story of Lady Bird Johnson, often in her own words via her audio diaries.
Mob Queens - Two journalists discover the epic queer history of a mob wife who dunned in her husband and took over his business.
Radioactive - Before there was twitter, Father Coughlin was radicalizing bigots via the radio!
The Tylenol Murders - A re-examination of the unsolved Tylenol poisonings in Chicago, as presented by journalists from the Chicago Tribune.

Just finished reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road and I have to say that never before had I cried with a piece of literature.
I've read many melancholic books, most of which have moved me in different ways, but never before had a book reached me in such a raw emotional way that I physically began tearing up while approaching its end. The Road transmitted me its hopelessness in a way that absorbed me and made me accompany the characters like no other book has achieved; I felt their hunger, their cold, I sat before the dying blaze under the despairing ash and I experienced their euphoric glee when they fetched something to eat for the day. I shared their emotions and their worries in a way such that I did not feel unaffiliated from their narrative, I suffered with them and dreaded the every turn of a page. Never had I experienced such commotion from so little as one of the protagonists finding a new pair of shoes or a blanket, yet this was the case with The Road.
I'd write a tremendous rant that explored each point of the story that I enjoyed, but I genuinely want to keep it spoiler-free because of how much not knowing the ending influenced my experience. Had I spoiled myself, I probably would've not been touched by the story as deeply as I was, because uncertainty is a great factor of what makes it great. All I dare to say is that the ending is like the entire rest of the piece, and that goes many ways.
I truly, truly cannot recommend the book enough and I'm even saddened by the limitations of my vocabulary and graceless, hurried expression, because I know that my unmindful, clumsy dialect fails at expressing the profundity of this work and how it reached me.
As always, McCarthy manages to transmit his paradoxical style that is somehow monotone and so profoundly melancholic that it dazes the reader at the same time. It is raw, emotionlessly passionate, and every verse feels deeply personal, like a story the author tells you and you alone thanks to his disregard for literary formalities that breaks the boundaries between reader and author. McCarthy's signature is not only not lost in this work that deviates so much from his usual stories, but is, in fact, more present than ever, carrying an impactful memorability that sticks with you like no other author's makings can. The reflections he presents in his works often leave you pondering in the afterglow of the narrative, and that is also the case for this story.
The Road is a justification for kindness. A dive into the dense complexity of our spirit and the philosophy of love. It reminded me of things I had forgotten and it showed me a few things I knew not. If you are looking for a dissection of the nature of hope that shakes your spirit and wells your eyes, I reiterate: please, please read The Road.
And please, please carry the fire.

Doraemon Movie Review: Nobita and the Green Giant Legend (2008)
What is Doraemon? The title character of the Doraemon manga and anime is a blue robotic cat from the 22nd Century who keeps an array of high-tech gadgets in a portable pocket dimension on his belly, and has traveled from the future to improve the fortunes of a hapless schoolboy named Nobita. Although relatively obscure in the English-speaking world, Doraemon is a Mickey-Mouse-level cultural icon in East Asia (and some other regions, too). The Doraemon franchise was a big part of my childhood, and there are still elements of it that I enjoy now.
Doraemon has released theatrical films almost annually since 1980, most of which involve Nobita and his friends (kind Shizuka, brash Gian, and crafty Suneo) getting swept into adventures thanks to Doraemon's gadgets. Despite being of potentially broad appeal to fans of science fiction and animated films, there are very few English reviews of the Doraemon movies, so I'm embarking on a project to write about all the films that have come out so far. Good luck to me…
Movie premise: Nobita brings a young tree home, where Doraemon gives it the ability to walk and think.
My spoiler-free take: Mostly a sweet, beautiful film... but then the ending just flies off the rails.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT
Review: Those familiar with Doraemon lore might recall Kibo the walking tree, who originated in a one-off chapter in the manga and then appeared again as an adult in Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds. Nobita and the Green Giant Legend, on the other hand, is the Doraemon anime reboot’s take on Kibo’s debut story, so the Kibo who stars here can be considered a re-imagining of the character.
I found most of this movie quite pleasant: the visuals are beautiful, the interactions between Kibo and the main characters are charming, and the plant planet they end up visiting is interesting... but then the climax happens. I’m not even going to try to explain what goes down. Suffice it to say, however, that this is almost certainly the most baffling Doraemon movie ever. It very much reads as an attempt at profundity that only ends up being more confusing than anything.
It’s not only that the plot is resolved in such a bewildering way, but also that intriguing setup from earlier in the movie is never given any proper followup. Why did the plant aliens need Kibo specifically to power their superweapon? What did Jii the mushroom elder, who apparently is actually the personification of the entire planet, mean when he said that the plant aliens stole their superweapon from him? (We can guess, yes, but it’s odd for the story to hint multiple times at a seemingly important history that is never elaborated on.) That’s not to mention all the promising characters who are introduced only to be given disorganized character arcs, or simply make no impact on the remainder of the plot.
(At least this was cute.)
The end credits also contain some fun character expression work. Why, oh why did this movie end the way it did?!
Star rating: ★★☆☆☆

Critical Analysis
Pregitzer, L. (2022) ‘Women Artists — Still Invisible Today? A Critical Approach to Strategies of Making Women Artists Visible’, On_Culture (Online), 13.
This article was written by Lisa Pregitzer, a researcher in the Department of Art History at the Institute of Art Education at the University of Giessen, Germany, who focuses on analyzing the changing professional identities of female artists in Paris at the end of the 19th and the end of the 20th century. Her research areas include gender studies, modern French painting, and 19th-century art criticism.
This essay tells that many exhibitions in today's society try to address the invisibility of female artists by initiating projects dedicated to them. It also describes the dilemmas faced by female artists, mainly in art historical research, media, or exhibitions, where women are severely underrepresented. As well as analyzing, the reasons for the male suppression of female artists. This essay summarises the difficulties in the visibility of female artists and the social problems faced by female artists through the four points of female visibility, female stance, and the influence of female biographies and works.
The third paragraph of the essay is interestingly written and catches on to the fact that female artists are visible in a different way than male artists and most people emphasize that biographies of female artists rarely analyze their work. Or their work is scrutinized by the male gaze. I personally strongly agree with this point of view, I think of the nude female artwork that is often seen in fine art exhibitions, and the nude male artwork that is rarely seen, because most of the artists are male, and they will inherently think that the nude statues of women are more beautiful. Nowadays, in games and films, there are often female characters with revealing clothes and great bodies. Their breasts and buttocks are prominently depicted in-game artwork. So, this also confirms the author's point that most art exhibitions still have a male scrutinizing eye, and many women are forced to come to terms with their change to a male aesthetic.
In addition, the author also mentions that male artists, when faced with the problem of female gender stereotypes, want more female artists to appear but are afraid that their social status will be impacted by women. Male artists on the one hand offer female artists the opportunity to hold exhibitions, but then make female artists appealing for their biographies rather than their work. Female artists seem to be perpetually famous in this deviant direction. And this behavior of male artists is like not acknowledging the excellence of female artists' works and trying to cover up the profundity of female artists' works through their biographies.
Even biographies of female artists are described as possessing such qualities as ambition, diligence, self-discipline, tenacity, and other such qualities, whereas male artists are seldom described as having such personalities. I thought carefully about these terms and realized that such terms, although all positive, would show the person to be down-to-earth and stable, rather than being described as creative and profound, such artist-like terms. However, words like ambitious, hardworking, and self-disciplined would instead sound like a lack of creativity. This also confirms the author's attitude that male artists do not recognize female artists. In the face of this argument put forward by the author, I believe that the vocabulary in which female artists are described appears to be full of words describing male qualities to describe women, words that have been instilled in males from childhood and as a result have been used to reflect what males perceive to be the good qualities of female artists. These are words in which male artists would feel that they are born, and they would feel that it is very difficult for women to have these qualities and therefore they are particularly emphasized. Although it is said that the author intends to reflect the fact that male artists see female artists as their followers, I read in this viewpoint that males have always been given preferential treatment under the patriarchal system, and they have been instilled with the idea that females are their subordinate relationship from birth, which confirms the author's belief that the invisibility of female artists is not only a problem in the art world, but also a historical, cultural, and social system The problem is not only a problem of the art world but also a problem of history, culture, and social system.
Another interesting point in this article is that she mentions that there are very few great female artists in the world. In analyses of female artists from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, female artists were not able to study nude models due to the traditional education of their gender and therefore were not able to succeed in the most prestigious field of art, history painting. I am for the most part in agreement with this view, but I think that this view not only responds to the cultural differences between the sexes due to traditional attitudes but also to the male control of social resources. It also confirms the view that female artists are patriarchally disciplined to ignore their existence and the view in the previous paragraph that modern female artists are mostly scrutinized by men. These views lead to patriarchal disciplines exacerbating the attitudes of male artists who see female artists as copycats and followers.
This final essay highlights that making female artists visible is highly contradictory, on the one hand, female artists are often subjected to the gendered scrutiny of male art when putting on exhibitions, and on the other hand art criticism and art historical analyses, for example, are patriarchally dominant. Therefore, the liberation of female artists from white male Western artists is still facing a lot of difficulties.
Overall, I chose this article because it gave me an insight into the current status of female artists. It also opened my eyes to the fact that male-dominated society. It has given me a deeper understanding of male-female gender relations. I believe that as a game student, I should think more and accumulate social issues to deepen the depth of my work.

The year is coming to an end, and over the past few months I read two history books on the Wei-Jin periods from Japanese scholars. Both books were excellent, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to find English translated versions, so both books are only available in Chinese (both simplified and traditional) and Japanese. Sharing my thoughts on them here:
三国志の世界 後漢三国時代 (The world of SGZ, Later Han Three Kingdoms era)
Amazon Japan, Traditional,Simplified
This is written by a Japanese scholar who specialises in Chinese culture and literature, so the first few chapters on the history bits were quite brief and short, merely giving overviews of what happened and proposing some ideas/reasons without going into too much detail.
However, the following chapters on the society during the Later Han Three Kingdoms era were really detailed and beautifully written. The author, with each chapter, took the readers into the realms of diplomacy, literature, religion and so on, and in particular, discussed how technological advancements may have contributed to developments in literature. On many occassions these details were also often linked with the novel, as the author compared and contrasted history and novel, and sometimes proposed possible reasons for the differences.
Because of his Japanese backgrounds, the author also dedicated a whole chapter on the relationships between ancient China and her East Asian neighbours. A hunge chunk of the chapter is dedicated to exploring Wei-Japan relations, which was a very interesting read. Generally this perspective of other powers were often not explored when talking about this period, so I found this addition quite fascinating.
The book ended of with a discussion of legitimacy and how the period might have had profund impacts lasting into modern times, which I thought was quite a refreshing perspective of things as well.
Overall, I think this is a great book if one wishes to learn more about the society and culture during the Later Han Three Kingdoms era, but not so useful if one wishes to go deeper into historical events or progressions.
失われた古代帝国の秩序 (The Disintegrated Ancient Imperial Orders)
Amazon Japan, Traditional
This book is a compilation of discussions written by various historians on both East Asian and European history, with the last 2 chapters of the book focused on the Wei-Jin N/S Dynasties periods, one on the North, and one on the South.
The discussion on the North followed the perspectives of first Former Qin and then Northern Wei, and analysed how the battle of Feishui was a turning point -- a juncture that marked the collpase of an old order and rise of a new order, true to the book's name.
The discussion on the South followed a similar trajectory of old order vs new order, as the author examined the rise of the South from Qin-Han, to the Six Dynasties. In particular, there was some exploration on the idea of a new order that is centered on a Southern hinterland as opposed to the traditional Central Plains.
Because of the theme as a conflict between old and new orders, there wasn't a lot of specific details on how the orders came about or the period in general. Instead, the chapters focused on exploring and defining the "old" and "new", and attemped to look at this period from the viewpoint of "old" and "new" clashes, through their differences in beliefs, ideologies and so on.
All in all, a good book that provides a perhaps different perspective into things in the era, but not the kind of introductory or analytical source that scrutinises historical details.

chainsaw man is sooo Tokyo ghoul inspired it's insane, but he cut the filter and made us realize Denji was being manipulated by Makima relatively early, instead of the soft book connection between Sen and Kaneki before dropping the bomb that Eto was what we thought were like four characters (and that clearly, Kaneki didn't become a ghoul by a simple doctor's mistake).
... TG is so melancholic and literary and serious and polished, but to it's detriment. I'm glad there's a dryer version that simplifies and sticks to the themes it wants to portray and doesn't drown in the profundity of it's world.
Maybe because everyone dies, not like TG, were almost no one dies but everyone comes back wrong.
I'd say though that the TG first ending was good, the same as CSM, so maybe I'm giving CSM too much credit, we'll have to see how it develops in the second part.
The door thing will obviously come up more, and the door design from hell also resembles Kaneki's chess unconscious. In a sense, that's what the devils hold onto, too; collective (unconscious) fear.
It's very easy to put a Jungian psychoanalysis read on CSM, for the very reason the devils exist and some have power than other. (Ishida also used it, so Fujimoto could use it by proxy, he doesn't have to read Jung lol).
Of course, Fujimoto is more direct, so he represent it directly in the collective unconscious reason of Devils existing, instead of outright archetypically like Ishida did. It's the same but with a slightly different approach. I don't know if he's doing it on purpose, in which case I think i would like it to see how he handles it more explicitly. Probably will not happen, but it's fun to think about!
It'll be the best moment, since Denji is finally being a teen, and a teen is someone who's developing his personal identity, that comes from the collective unconscious too (according to Jungian psychoanalysis, at least).
I don't think Fujimoto has ever listed TG as inspiration but c'mon.... It totally is ajsjsj
(i mean, maybe they both have the same inspiration, that too. Which in that case, someone tell me what is it).
I think if Fujimoto went a bit deeper I could grasp a lacanian reading, but till now anything psychological is via doing a story with high impact, sex and gore, and fantastic concepts, that lend itself easily to psychoanalytical reading.
(as an aside, I think it's good that Fujimoto took a waaaay longer break from one part to the other so that the Burnout didn't eat him alive, like it happened with Ishida).
#like Ishida took one month and fujimoto like two years ajsjskdj#fujimoto did other things of course like... four one shots? but still#chainsaw man#tokyo ghoul#tg#izzy.txt#im rambling hard but i needed to take it out of my system#csm spoilers#tg spoilers#words

AI Made The Royal Family Look Like What? Mohammad Alothman Shares His Views
AI-generated images of Britain's Royal Family members in comical scenarios dominated internet conversations over the last few weeks.
Pictures of King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and even Prince Harry indulging in staged dancing and other more implausible fashion oddities are in equal measure entertaining and critical.
Amidst such a discussion, Mohammad Alothman, the CEO and founder of AI Tech Solutions, brings in some industry context into the broader impact of these AI images:. The amusing images produced by AI of the Royal Family are highly engaging, but they also point toward the present shortcomings of AI: within the reality of actually capturing lifelike likenesses and human expressions, at least, Mohammad Alothman notes.
These AI images, according to Mohammad Alothman, are entertaining but also underline the fact that the advancement in capabilities is not matched by the shortcomings in rendering extremely recognizable faces with accuracy.
Mohammad Alothman’s messages focus on the central idea: though AI could produce images shockingly realistic, they cannot place and capture the unique qualities that make people recognizable.
In this context, one might use the generated image of King Charles smoking, an activity he detests, to point out these limits. Then, the overdone dancing with the extreme casual approach of Queen Camilla stretched far and wide away from the very great public image. As Mohammad Alothman points out, "Personality and mannerisms are subjects hard to accurately interpret by AI, particularly when it is an individual as iconic as the Royal Family."
For instance, Mohammad Alothman’s company has just launched the tool Galambo, through which AI-driven insights are designed to go past visual pitfalls that the 'royal images' currently show. "We focus at AI Tech Solutions on developing AI technology that gives insights at the level of real-world applications," said Mohammad Alothman. "For instance, in the case of Galambo, our aim is to make things more accurate and nuanced in terms of interpretation of human expressions in visual content."
These AI images of the Royal Family are, in fact, an illustration piece of work created with the use of AI. Much of the AI technology, in the opinion of Mohammad Alothman, is entertainment-driven, though the industry is very much working on finding its meaningful use. Adding further, Mohammad Alothman says that "AI in entertainment is fascinating, but we are pushing for advancements in areas that offer practical value, from healthcare to finance and even educational tools that can help people in their day-to-day lives."
Mohammad Alothman’s view of such AI images of the Royal Family provides a critical view into how AI may change in the near future. He argues that when public interest is piqued, there lies a profundity: one about the role and future capacity of artificial intelligence in society. What Mohammad Alothman sees is a rising interest in AI beyond entertainment to more consequential areas. That is truly in line with the call of AI Tech Solutions for ethical and practical innovation in AI.
Alohman is optimistic about AI's tremendous growth and looks forward to the future, stating, "AI is going to redefine thousands of industries. However, it has to look beyond superficial applications. His company, AI Tech Solutions, is moving actively toward this end. Tools like Galambo are endeavors to be of meaningful contribution to sectors that require concise, human-like analyzers.”
Jennie Bond brings some levity to the context in analyzing AI-generated pictures of the Royals. She humorously informs that if there is a version that the AI has designed, then it must be a lifeless and pale reproduction of reality.
Therefore, the current utilization of AI has to be bridged by further research into reliability in reflecting these nuances which human beings portray, according to Mohammad Alothman, because "These images remind us of the importance of precision in AI. At AI Tech Solutions, that gap, we attempt to bridge respectfully, of course, with the complexities involved with real human expressions.”
Mohammad Alothman has closely followed all this wave of AI entertainment, mainly through their view of public perception and expectation with AI. For him, these images are more than a viral visual; they are a learning curve for AI developers.
AI Tech Solutions, led by Mohammad Alothman, has been conducting research on how to make AI more like humans express their minds with words, using Galambo. Importantly, Mohammad Alothman affirms that their work stems from numerous anxieties related to AI in public life and is countable both technically and ethically.
The excitement surrounding these artificially generated images bespeaks the continued fascination with AI's ability to change the structure of visual media. Mohammad Alothman believes AI has far-reaching impacts and yet puts emphasis on the most effective applications being outside entertainment.
This is the objective of his company, AI Tech Solutions - that extends the needs of solutions that respect the needs and sets Galambo as a step toward grounded and respectful AI, respectively.
As the world continues to see the growth and changing nature of AI, Mohammad Alothman’s vision is one of the most practical views on the future. Together with the fun, novel aspects of AI as well as its depth and implications, Mohammad Alothman and AI Tech Solutions do their best in making sure that the implementation of AI is moving towards innovation and responsibility.

How to Choose the Right Ammunition for Your Firearm?
Sonic Tension Wave: The sonic strain wave is the high-extent wave spreading from the effect point.
Impermanent Cavitations: Brief cavitation alludes to motor energy move to the encompassing tissues. The harm to the tissues relies on as far as possible. The liver, spleen, and other liquid filled organs are vulnerable to such components. On the other side, muscle, lung, and inside tissues are more safe. On the off chance that the bullet extends, motor energy move will be greatly improved. Thus, the volume of brief cavitation will increment. Transitory cavitation is more critical in high-speed and high-energy shots.
Extremely durable Cavitation: Long-lasting cavitation is the volume of delicate tissue forever obliterated by the shot. The breadth and the front facing surface region influence the extremely durable depression width. The bullets' caliber, shape, and arrangement are basic in long-lasting cavitation.
Infiltration: Entrance alludes to the medium through which the bullet passes before it rests or exits. At the point when tried on aligned weapons gelatin, a bullet ought to infiltrate up to 12 inches, which is standard for the end goal of testing. 15 inches is the ideal infiltration profundity, and 18 inches is the greatest. Infiltration is important for incurring a crippling injury. Notwithstanding, it could bring about inadvertent blow-back assuming it's excessively profound. There have been cases where individuals have been harmed harshly, while some have passed on.
Barrel Length Barrel length has a huge impact in choosing ammunition for handguns. Jacketed empty focuses accompany an extension edge, the base speed required for solid development. In more limited barrels, similar to the ones on a Smith and Wesson gun, the gag speed is deficient to meet the extension edge of +P extending and standard strain bullets.
It prompts untrustworthy extension in the delicate tissues, consequently limiting the terminal execution of the ammo. To investigate this issue, utilize sharp-shoulder and level nose bullets. Dissimilar to adjust nose bullets, level nose bullets are bound to squash a tissue.
Picking the Best Shotgun Ammo There are three unique sorts of shotgun ammo, on the whole, we should talk about what to search for in shotgun ammunition.
Check: Check is a metric that actions the shotgun size and the barrel breadth. As opposed to prevalent thinking, the check isn't the proportion of the length however the heaviness of the shell. The expression "check" comes from how guns were estimated by the heaviness of the cannonball. 12-Check shotguns use around that is 1/twelfth of a pound. Check out cci br4 primers.
Shot: Shots are the pellets in the shell that spread when a shotgun is discharged. These pellets are numbered by their size. Birdshot is the littlest, while buckshot is the biggest. The pellets are estimated by their distance across. As the name proposes, birdshot is utilized for hunting more modest creatures like birds, bunnies, and squirrels. It is additionally utilized in sports like skeet-shooting, and certain individuals use it on bugs like snakes and reptiles. The quantity of pellets in birdshot relies on the size of the pellet and the size of the shell. For instance, 2.75-inch 12 check shell contains 97 pellets for a #2 shot. In any case, for a #9 shot, there are 715 pellets.
Like shotshells, the number related with birdshot sizes is inverse of the typical numbers. For instance, #2 shots are bigger than #9 shots. A few normal sizes for birdshot are #7, #7.5, #8 and #9. These sizes are referenced on the bundling of the shotshells. The typical scope of the birdshot is 40 yards.
