Hey guys. I know i do NAWT post here much (i forget 🫶) but um. Im opening comms 🤗

y’all. it’s midnight. i have an essay worth 70% of my semester 2 ap credit due tomorrow by 2:15 pm. i have about 300-500 words left in the essay one paragraph. should i stay up until i finish it, and spend my study hall editing it. or should i sleep and finish it during study hall and edit during lunch and beginning portion of ap sem (the class period where i have to submit the essay?

I've read a few comments on Saints ch4 where people say Shikamaru is being decisive and strong when he puts his foot down and you keep responding that he's doing it after months of being strung along. Can you explain a bit more about what you mean? I get it, I just want to understand your intentions more. In the end too when he responds to her letter prior to the key?

Ooh ooh interesting question!! (cut for length and situationship spoilers i guess)

Yes I don't think he is being particularly decisive here -- if anything, he is vacillating back and forth. He knows he should break it off, but he doesn't want to, so he keeps agreeing. I feel like it's the precise definition of a situationship and lbr we've all been shikamaru. He does force the conversation at one point, but idk how much credit to give him (after all, he does respond to her letter later on).

Like, if one of your friends said they'd been fucking this girl and it's been serious but she's made it clear she doesn't want more than that and has pulled away after you mentioned it but is also knowingly continuing to have sex with you knowing she doesn't feel the same way and it's messing with your feelings, but she does it anyway, you would 10000% tell him to get out of that relationship. I have told people to get out of that relationship! imagine you're Ino or Choji! They'd tell him to find someone who is interested in loving him seriously!

But also we've all been the Shikamaru in that situation too and have similarly been told by others to get out of a relationship. But it's soooooo hard when you're the one in it even when you know the right answer. He likes her and doesn't want to stop being with her even though he knows he's only hurting himelf by staying.

Which is all to say I do think he is being indecisive, and when he does eventually break it off, it helps both of them. In the end (when he is responding to the letters) it could continue in a way where they restart the sex, but I think it wouldn't have. Had she not sent the key, I like to think he still would've stopped it (in my personal hc).

That all said this story in NO WAY is meant to make temari out to be the bad guy. They had terms to their relationship and he changed them without her permission. She didn't string him along, he changed the rules. And he was right (she was lying that she didn't want more... we all knew that... it's just hard to be vulnerable when her strength/independence/self-grit is where she's found her self worth), but she wasn't ready for that step at the same time he was. And eventually losing their relationship was enough for her to make that decision. It'd definitely be an interesting chapter through her pov too.

Anyway, a longwinded (surprise) answer that he does go back and forth, but eventually makes it sort of an ultimatum and it does kind of separate naturally and slowly. I wrote it off relationships myself and my friends have had and tried to make it as realistic as possible. They were separating for months before they actually did. But also neither of them wanted it to end. Ugh, the trials and tribulations of modern love!
