Reverse Robins + Identities
Bio!Dad Bruce
Day 18: Reverse Robins - Day 19: Identities
Ao3 ~~~ First ~~~ Previous ~~~ Next
~~~~~~~~~~
How this came to happen Mari had no idea.
She was leaving Gotham to patrol Paris like usual, but all of her brothers decided that they wanted to go with her. Mainly to get Andre’s Ice cream for breakfast, and hopefully not be yelled at for doing so by Alfred.
One minute she and her brothers were patrolling Paris in the early morning, some time around 5 am. The next they saw a flash of golden light.
"Let's go. Everyone is on comms" Nightwing took the lead. "Rosu how long for your team to arrive?"
At that moment, her yo-yo rung "Hey Bug who do we have this time" Chat Noir answered in that moment Abeille, Viperion, and Ryuko appeared on screen.
"Comms on guys" she took the lead as easily as Dick had. "The bats are here" with that they all logged off and made their way to where the golden lights kept flashing.
"Any idea on the akuma's powers?"Red Robin asked the miraculous team that arrived before them. Ryuko shoot her head.
The akuma then noticed them "Ladybug, Chat Noir everyone's big sister and big brother. Let's see how you feel taking orders now!" A golden light swept thought the area engulfing the heroes.
"Ha! I think your powers are busted. Um... I don't know your name" Chat yelled.
"Chat!" she scolded but her voice was sharper. She looked around and that was when it hit her. Well specifically she saw a mini Nightwing who looked no older than 15.
"What the hell!" was yelled by a younger Red Hood, 16, complete with a voice crack.
"Huh I didn't change" was spoken by Red Robin.
"That is because you are the middle child, imbecile" was said by an older, 27, Robin.
"Why are you older you’re a big sister" the akuma began throwing a verbal tantrum.
"Sorry I'm actually the youngest in my family" she spoke, 30.
"But everyone listens to you" the akuma stomped her foot "All the heroes listen to you since your older" she huffed trying to find an answer.
"Actually, I'm the oldest in the Miracle Team" Viperion commented, seeming to be a year or two younger.
"Besides" Ryuko spoke stepping towards the girl "We listen to Ladybug because we trust and respect her."
"But that's not how it works" the akuma wrung the wand in her hands.
Ladybug knelt next to her and took the wand releasing the akuma and capturing it.
“Chat catch the butterfly when it is released" she ordered, and he nodded his head. "Lucky charm" she called and, in her hand, fell a small tracker.
She released the Akuma which chat caught and placed the tracker on it. She opened her yo yo and saw the blip on the screen.
"Robin" she moved to her brother who removed his hood and handed it to her, which her brothers then formed a protective circle around her covering her completely. She de-transformed, fed Tikki, and transformed again handing her brother back his hood.
"Ladybug what are you planning?" Abeille asked.
"Give me a moment. Kaalki" the little Kwami came out. She held out her hands and the little horse sat down, and she touched their foreheads together.
"Understood" Kaalki nodded and flew through a portal.
"Follow me" she motioned once the little kwami had left.
"Please tell me you are going to fix us?" Red Hood whined.
"Not yet"
"Why?" this time Nightwing asked.
"Because" she held up her yo-yo showing the blip "we can end Hawkmoth right now"
"How sure are you that the butterfly went to Hawkmoth?" Red Robin asked. As if on cue a ladybug landed on her screen, a bee landed on Abeille, and a cat rubbed against Chat Noir's leg.
"Okay point taken" Robin spoke. "Red can you get the coordinates, and we can make plan?"
"On it"
"Azur can you and Chat go inform the police" she said as they both nodded and left." Vipereon and Ryuko do a quick spar with Hood and I'll spar with Robin" everyone nodded.
"Why the spar bug" Robin asked as they began to pass blows.
"Chat, Abeille, Ryuko, and Red didn't change the rest of us did"
"So, this is to figure out the changes, and sending Nightwing off was better because he is more aerial" Robin hummed as she nodded.
Red Robin sent the location to Nightwing and chat as the rest of us stopped to plan.
The storm at Agreste Manor.
Red Robin shut down all security measures. Robin, Vipereon, and Ryuko went in to scan the rooms and that was sent to Red Robin. "Who is inside" Red Hood asked the three who just came back.
"The Agreste bodyguard, Gorilla, is here and these two would be Gabriel and his assistant, Natalie” Chat explained.
"Doesn't Gabriel have a son?" Robin asks "Adrien correct"
"Yes, he does but he is not here " Abeille answered ending that conversation everyone nodded in acknowledgement as they made their final preparations.
They first took out Gorilla and left him with the police instructing than to stay out of sight.
The team split up to converge on the office. She and Chat Noir were the first to enter.
"Good Morning Monsieur Agreste and Madame Sancoeur" she began.
"As much as I appreciate the visit from our beloved heroes" Gabriel started with a slight venom in his voice. "But this is breaking and entering"
"We are sorry for the inconvenience" but Chat was cut off as Natalie lunged at him.
"So, the calm way is off the table" she sighed as the rest of the team crashed into the room. Gabriel took that time to descend by a hidden elevator, which she followed. She watched as Gabriel transformed and akumatized himself.
In the end the fight took no longer than five minutes as the group of heroes escorted Natalie and Gabriel out of the mansion. They found the body of Emilie Agreste in a cryo chamber comatose.
She went back inside to find the butterfly with the tracker, as well as to retrieve the peacock miraculous from the safe. She also found the grimoire and now she had recovered the two miraculous and the book of miracles all before 8 am and everything looked bright.
She stepped outside and was going to cast the cure when the was a flash and a smiling Wonder Woman and a Superboy holding up a phone.
"This is far too interesting to not document my sister, you will send me that won't you Superboy" he gave Ladybug a bright smile and nodded to Wonder Woman and Mari could only smile as she now cast the cure.
"We have a few things to discuss" she motioned to the Miraculous team to follow her. Leaving the Batboys, Wonder Woman, and Superboy in front of the Agreste Mansion.
They landed on the roof of Le Grande Paris. "Now that Hawkmoth was been defeated, and as guardian, I would like to know whether you would like to keep your Miraculous in order to protect others in this world?"
"But I thought" Chat was beginning to cry "Yes I want to keep being a hero." the others seemed to share his sentiment.
"Alright. Tikki spots off." in a flash there she stood as Marinette. "As a means to protect the Miraculous, hello my name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng Wayne, but you guys already know that" she smirked.
One by one they dropped their transformations.
"Figures that the only idiot to be dorky enough to be Chat Noir would be you Adrien" Chloe rolled her eyes smiling.
"Meow-ouch your hurting me Queenie" Adrien feigned hurt.
"Chloe can we go to your room" Chloe nodded and they followed her.
"What is your plan Mari-hime?" Kagami asked once in the room.
"Chloe meet your father and set up a meeting/announcement for noon" Mari started.
"As me or Abeille?" she asked.
"Power up, you too Luka. I need you to go to the police, so that Gabriel and Natalie are present."
"What about me?" Adrien asked.
"You'll be on stage"
"Why?"
She was going to answer but Kagami beat her. "Your father is going to be revealed as a terrorist. Your involvement will be questioned. I assume that is why Wonder Woman is here."
Mari nodded." Everyone but you will be transformed but Chat will still be there"
"Do we want to know your plan, Melody" Luka questioned.
"I think its best you don't" she smiled. “we'll meet up when it's time, stay in touch" she transformed and was about to leave.
“Where are you going?" Chloe asked the question on everyone's mind.
"I need to speak with Wonder Woman then check in with my dad since I'm supposed to be in Gotham."
A collective group of "Ohs" sounded through the room remembering that their friend was supposed to be in America for the break.
She made it to her brothers, Wonder Woman, and Superboy. She then explained the planned conference and why she called Diana and Jon. At noon, the Mayor held the conference in front of City Hall. He stepped aside and allowed Ladybug to command the stage.
"Hello citizens of Paris. This morning my team and I" she motional to the Miraculous team to her left "With the aid of Gotham's vigilantes Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, and Robin" she motioned to her right "Were able to discover and defeat Hawkmoth and his accomplice Mayura.”
There were cheers from the crowd, but many were apprehensive.
Out walked Gabriel Agreste and Natalie Sancoeur being escorted by guards, behind them walked
Adrien and Wonder Woman.
Ladybug moved to stand next to Chat Noir and allowed Wonder Woman the stage. She draped the Lasso of Truth over them.
"This is the Lasso of Truth; it's power compels you to only speak the truth." she started "What are your names?"
"Gabriel Agreste"
"Natalie Sancoeur"
"Were you the villains Hawkmoth and Mayura?"
"Yes, I was Mayura" Natalie answered.
After an internal struggle Gabriel also spoke "I was Hawkmoth, and this is not where I fail Ladybug" he spat towards the young heroine.
"Why is that?" Wonder Woman asked.
"Lila Rossi aided me in creating Akumas as well as took them willingly, she will continue in spreading fear, hatred, and distrust for when I gain my freedom again." He looked smug until he realized he spoke aloud. Gabriel and Natalie were escorted off stage and Wonder Woman beckoned Adrien forward.
He willingly took hold of the lasso. "What is your name?"
"Adrien Agreste"
"Did you know your father was the Villain Hawkmoth?"
"I only learned that today" He answered "But I can totally see it with how neglectful and emotionally abusive he was as a father" he answered still holding the Lasso.
Everyone was now staring at the boy known as Paris' Teen heartthrob and sweetheart with looks and words condemning Gabriel.
Wonder Woman regained her composure and spoke "I believe this is a discussion best had in private." Adrien gave her a sheepish smile as she led him off stage.
"Ladybug, Ladybug, Ladybug" several reporters shouted but she ended on calling on Aurore.
"Ladybug are you, or any of the heroes on your team, going to stay and protect Paris, will the Miraculous remain active?"
"The Miraculous will remain active, if I or my team so wish to continue wielding them." she answered "the same can be said of Paris, if anyone from my team or I wishes to stay in Paris that is their choice, if they decide to protect another city it is within our right to do so. Bug Out." she finished and all the heroes on stage dispersed in every direction.
"You know you really can pull off orange" she hummed.
"I prefer my red and blue" Jon stated as he de-transforms, leaving Super boy in place of the fox.
"Who knew Superboy would make such a good fox" she teased.
"You know both of us can't lie to save our lives" he gave her a grin "but we can see through them much easier than most"
"Come on this go get ice cream to celebrate with everyone, they found Andre."
"Lead the way" he gave her a bright smile and they were off.
~~~~~~~~~~
Clear a few things up:
1. Lila stayed in Paris but everyone in the school knows she is a liar and take everything she says with a heaping ton of salt
2. Mari’s knowledge and control of her powers granted by the Miraculous were expanded as if she had held it for 15 years, that is reversed when she cast cure but is something she will be able to do later.

Demon Alya AU: Lila the Possessor
Marinette could feel the blood draining from her face. She'd expected to see almost anything when she'd decided to follow Lila, from her weaving her next lie to a clandestine meeting with Hawkmoth himself. The girl casually talking to a burning portal in midair was so far outside expectations that Marinette was having trouble reorienting herself. "You would not believe the level of goody-goody nonsense I have to put up with over here. It frankly makes me want to puke. Fortunately most of them are as gullible as they come, so I'll eventually be able to collect their souls no problem. It'll make a nice power boost for myself while I'm tracking down Hawkmoth to claim both his soul and his Miraculous. Make sure to keep up the ritual sacrifices and everything going strong, because some of my bosses are coming later this week and we want to impress them. I'll stop by later after I've checked in with 'mommy dearest'. Ta-ta." Marinette realized she needed to hide just a second too late. "Well, well," Lila grinned just a little too wide for Marinette's comfort level. "Look who just saw more than they were supposed to." "You-you..." "Yes, me, me. What of it?" "I-You-Ladybug and Chat Noir will stop you!" Marinette finally got out. To her astonishment, Lila actually laughed at that. "Those two imbeciles don't even know I exist, and it wouldn't matter if they did." She stepped up and leaned so far into Marinette's personal space that the girl had to take a step back. "I'm inviolate. The daughter of an Italian diplomat. Those two nitwits would never start an international incident. They're too noble for that." "I... I doubt you're really the diplomat's daughter," Marinette said with a confidence she didn't feel. She should have hidden. Or transformed. Being transformed right now would be really nice, but she didn't dare do it in front of Lila unless there was no other option. "Aren't you clever?" Lila simpered. "I'm not Ambassador Rossi's daughter... but I am wearing her." "Um... what...?" Marinette squeaked. "You see, there was this little Italian girl crying in the park one day a few months ago, moaning about how hard it was to make friends. How her mother kept moving and she kept having to start over from scratch and boo-hoo all the kids at her school wouldn't be her friends. And then you know what happened?" "W-what?" "She foolishly said she'd sell her soul if she could only make friends easier. I mean, what was I supposed to do with an opening like that? So I told her I could help her get friends if she wanted. She was so stupidly happy that she said she'd do anything right then and there." "W-what did you do?" "What did I do? I plunged my hand into her chest and ripped her soul out right then and there! The look on her face was priceless! 'Oh, don't worry,' I told her. 'I'll be sure you have plenty of "friends" to fawn all over you or at least me.' and then I possessed her body!" "What d-did you do with h-her then?" "Oh, I keep her around. Let her watch how well I'm fulfilling my end of our bargain. She's so ungrateful, though, always moaning about how I should stop lying and manipulating people because that's 'not what friends do'. It's so pathetic it's hilarious!" "Ladybug and Chat Noir will stop you," Marinette tried to rally herself. "I'll help them." Lila laughed like it was the funniest thing she'd ever heard. "Oh, I hope you try! Wouldn't that be a sight! Poor Marinette has a psychotic break from stress and accuses a classmate of being a demon! No one would believe you! They'll throw you in the nuthouse and I'll just take all your classmates souls anyway. Maybe I'll have them be human sacrifices too..." "Don't you dare!" Marinette snarled. She didn't care if Lila was really a demon from Hell, no one threatened her friends! "Temper, temper..." Lila sneered. "But you know, maybe you could get someone to believe you. Which would mean that 'Lila' has outlived her usefulness. I'd have to abandon her, maybe get my cult to carve her up to throw off suspicion, and find a new gullible sap to
inhabit." Lila's expression turned extremely dark and taunting. "As a matter of fact, I've had my eye on dear sweet Adrien for a while." "No..." "Yes...! Such a perfect host. Rich... famous... connected... An overprotective father who neglects him constantly, leaving a son starved for affection and attention. I could probably get him to sell his soul just by promising to get his father to pay attention to him. And you know... If you helped me, I could be persuaded to ensure 'Adrien' would be your boyfriend afterwards..." "Never!" Lila actually seemed a bit surprised by how firm her denial was. "Well, suit yourself. It's not like you can do anything to me anyway. Even if you killed this body, I'd just find a new one and then you'd never see me coming. See you around, Marinette." Marinette managed to wait three minutes after Lila turned the corner before allowing her legs to give out from under her. "Tikki..." "She's gone," Tikki said, looking uncharacteristically solemn. "Now that I know what she is, I can sense her presence easily." "How... how do we deal with something like that?" "Oh, Marinette," Tikki said gently, "what forces do you think the Miraculous were created to combat in the first place? The day we can't handle one little upstart demon is the day we retire." "Oh god, that poor girl... Lila..." "There are ways to get her soul back to her body, even if it's been taken to Hell," Tikki said. "They're some of the few rituals the Order of Guardians allowed us kwami to learn." "Okay... okay... we'll still need to get... er... 'Lila' out of... um... Lila's... body... geez that sounds weird to say..." "There are ways to do that too. Your cleansing powers could manage it, but for the best results..." "You'll need the cleansing powers of Destruction." Marinette and Tikki both looked to see Plagg, looking so thunderously irate that Marinette had to double-check that he wasn't actively using Cataclysm. "To think," Plagg said with the care and deliberation of someone who knew if they exerted any less self control they would lose any semblance of control over their temper, "that there was a possessor demon so brazen as to be on the same continent - the same city - as my kitten. And I managed to miss it for this long... I'm losing my touch. Well, now that I know she exists, there's nowhere for her to hide. I'll be teaching my kitten the more advanced uses of his powers immediately. Clearly I've been lax in his training. Well, no more. It's time to remind those spirits who would steal and inhabit the bodies of others exactly why those who wear the Ring of the Black Cat are the most feared exorcists in history." -----
Chat Noir eventually learns the tricks and when he and Ladybug face off against 'Lila', he shocks 'Lila' when he proves intent on Cataclysming her directly, but she feels confident that would only dust her 'meat suit'. She has just enough time to scream in terror when it proves to do the opposite, dusting the possessing spirit and leaving the body intact.
Ladybug does the ritual to return the real Lila's soul to her body and the girl has to spend a month in therapy before she can go out in public from the trauma.
The class welcomes her with open arms, and a hug (and secret blessing) from Rose does more good for her than the month of therapy.
The demon 'Lila's' cult seems to have vanished off the face of the earth and when asked about them, Alya and Juleka just kind of whistle innocently.
The real Lila goes on to become friends with everyone in class and eventually this traumatic chapter in her life becomes almost like a bad dream.
----- Oh, hey, you can have your Lila hate sink and your Lila redemption!

New prompt idea! Following the defeat of Hawkmoth, Jason is terrified of the idea of Bruce adopting the sunshine child that is Adrien (that and all the puns that the boy makes... Adrien can't meet Dick!!!). He, alongside Damian, decide to try to get Selina to adopt a new cat instead. Unfortunately for everyone (except Adrien), Jon tags along. AdriJon for the ship and maybe Marinette being having a sibling relationship with the Wayne children?
I’m back to writing and when I saw this prompt, I was so excited. If it hasn’t been hinted at enough in some of my pieces, I adore AdriJon. I hope you like it! @elements1999
Stupid Lovestruck Jon
As Gabriel Agreste was drug from his front gates, the crowds surrounding the manor erupted in yet another round of cheers. Even with the hero’s help, the police had trouble keeping them back. Jason and Damian stood on the edge, both wearing matching grim expressions under their hoods and glasses.
“You know what this means D?”
Damian nodded solemnly, the scowl on his face deepening as Gabriel disappeared from their view.
“Father mustn't meet Agreste until we have found a suitable host family for him.”
The idea of Dick and Adrien bonding over stupid puns and forcing Jason and Damian to join in on family game nights was enough to send shivers down the two Wayne’s backs. There was no question about it, Adrien could not be allowed to be adopted.
“What do you think Selina would say if we brought her a kit?”
Damian shifted his gaze to Jason’s face, doing his best to hide his shock that Jason could come up with a coherent idea.
“I believe she would enjoy Plagg very much, Adrien though? Well, that would take some getting used to. How do you propose we get the two to meet?”
Jason’s face darkened quickly.
“It’ll be risky, but we invite them to America. After all, he’s going to need an escape from the media.”
“Perhaps Metropolis?”
The boys nodded as if that was the most logical sentence before both heads snapped up, their eyes widening at the sight of the petite hero that had landed between them. Marinette threw her arms around the boys’ shoulders, dragging them down to her own height.
“There is only room for so much sunshine at the Wayne estate. Dick has monopolized all of it and for the sake of not only you but myself as well, Adrien needs a more stable parental figure than Bruce Wayne. Not that my first choice would be Selena, but I know that she has a soft spot for orphans, no matter what she says.”
Both boys tried to wrestle their way out of her grasp, but it was nearly impossible with Tikki to help her.
“Here’s how it will go. I will go to help the police finalize anything they need for this arrest and you will trail Chat Noir until he decided to transform back. I want to be there as well, but unfortunately, the police aren’t exactly understanding when it comes to personal relationships.”
With a nod, the sound of two smacks echoed as she disappeared into the sky, the only trace of her being matching red spots on both of the Wayne’s necks.
“I really despise when she does that, no matter how much I want to be impressed.”
Jason chuckled as he nudged Damian forward, both of them slipping into the nearest building to change before anyone from the media could catch sight of the American’s on the scene of what would become known as the greatest arrest in Paris’ history.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“You know, I caught the trail of you following me a couple of blocks back. You don’t have to stay hidden.”
Damian let out a small string of curses as he stepped out from behind the chimney and into view of the black cat.
“I hate magic.”
Adrien chuckled as he waited for Jason to step out from the other side, both boys looking a little sheepish that they had been caught.
“Did Marinette ask you to follow me? Cause that sounds like something she would do. Really, I’m fine guys. Once we started the investigation, so much more began to make sense. He wanted to disguise the fact that he was selfish, wanting just my mother for himself, no matter the consequence. Even if it meant sacrificing me..”
Damian swallowed awkwardly as he glanced between Jason and Adrien. Thanks to Dick’s persistent pestering, he had gotten slightly better at reading emotions and watching his tongue, but this was uncharted territory and as much as he hated to admit it, he had no idea what to do.
Adrien let out a shaky laugh as he stood, brushing off the imaginary dust from his suit.
“Whatever, so what is Maribug’s master plan for avoiding the press? I know she sent you here to collect me for that very reason, so what could it be?”
Jason cleared his throat as he stepped forward, his smile completely see-through as the worry shined.
“Well, how would you feel about a trip overseas? Metropolis perhaps? You’re a huge Superman fanboy, aren’t you? Well, Dami here is besties with his son and we thought it would be a grand idea for you to have a distraction. What do you say?”
Damian frowned at Jason’s choice of wording. Besties felt a little strong for the relationship that he held with Jon, perhaps tolerable coworkers was better suited?
“Okay.”
Both boys tried to hide their surprised faces. They knew he was desperate for an escape, but his response was still quick for their liking. Honestly, they thought it was going to take a bit more convincing than that.
“Let Marinette know that I’ll be on her balcony whenever she finishes up. I’m sure she has a long night ahead of her and will want to talk to me when she can and guys?” Both boys raised their eyebrows, curiosity, and worry nitpicking their expressions. “Thanks for coming to see me.”
And with that, he leaped off the roof leaving the batbrothers to wonder if Metropolis would be the best idea for the man who effectively was orphaned in one day.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“Dami!”
Before he even had a chance to throw his hands up in defense, Jon had already tackled him in a bone-crushing hug much to his annoyance.
“I told you not to call me by that stupid nickname anymore Kent.”
With much effort, Damian shoved Jon off and into Marinette’s waiting arms.
“Aw, but Dami it’s so cute.” The muffled laughter coming from behind him was not helping.
Damian cut his eyes to where Jason and Adrien stood, both chuckling to themselves. He knew it was Jason’s idea to call up Jon to make this impromptu trip more believable for his father, but when breaking it down, Damian wasn’t completely sure that this option was much better than taking Adrien straight to Dick’s side.
“Anyways, I know I’m just the cover story so that you can meet up with Selina and all that, but do you have time to spare? I’d love to show Mari and Adrien around Metropolis! That’s your name, right? Adrien? Mari used to have so many cutouts of you-”
A smack echoed through the airport lobby as Jon found himself in a headlock courtesy of one petite heroine.
“Oh, you wanna bring that up now Jon? I don’t suppose you remember asking for a couple of my magazines for yourself huh?”
There was an undeniable shade of red emitting from under Marinette’s arm, one all three boys noted. A sputtering Jon finally managed to free himself, the red more visible as he gently pushed Marinette away.
“Hey it’s okay, it’s the cost of being a celebrity right?” Adrien reached out, his hand gently brushing Jon’s arm.
A sudden realization hit Damian as he watched his friend jump nearly 100 feet into the air, the red seemingly brighter than before. As Jon linked arms with Marinette, hurriedly leading them out of the airport, Adrien gently coaxing the two to behave, Damian gripped Jason’s jacket pulling the two of them to a stop.
“What do you want brat? We’re gonna get left behind-” With one killer glare, Jason slowly quieted, curiosity seeping into his expression.
“Jason, is uh- does Jonathon- does he see guys as viable mates?”
There was a slight pause and for a moment, Damian felt a bit relieved that perhaps he was not the only one to fail to notice such a thing about the Kent boy. But the moment ended abruptly as Jason erupted in laughter, drawing the attention from some passing by.
“What is it you buffoon? People are staring at us, silence yourself, and answer me.”
“Me buffoon? No, no, no” Jason’s laughter slowly ceased, but the shit-eating grin that replaced it did nothing to ease Damian’s nerves. “You see, you are the only idiot here. What is Jon? An animal? His mating preference?”
Damian felt his face heating up as his grip tightened on Jason’s jacket, intent on tearing a small hole in his precious belonging.
“Now Damian, I know you are dense, but Jon has always talked about guys with you. Did you just think they were all besties? That your third-wheeling on his dates where they gave each other like pecks on the cheek or held hands was just because you hate physical contact and his other friends didn’t mind it?”
The more Jason talked, the redder Damian felt his face becoming. Sure he had noticed before, but it never felt like it was something that mattered much. Plus, it wasn’t like Jon had mentioned anything to him about coming along on his supposed dates. How was he supposed to know?
Letting go of Jason’s jacket, Damian huffed after his friends, ignoring his brother’s taunting calls. There was only one thought that was still left on his mind.
If Jon had a crush on Adrien Agreste, this could ruin the whole plan.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
He was right.
What was implied to be a one day tour ended with them staying a week in Metropolis. And the worst part? Damian was completely powerless to do anything about it.
“Hey enfant démon, you seen my partner or yours for that matter?”
Damian scowled at Marinette as she leaned against his doorframe, her expression as exasperated as he felt.
“I told you to quit calling me that. Just because it’s in French doesn’t make it better heathen.”
Marinette stuck her tongue out at him, remaining firm in her spot as she waited for her answer. With a great sigh, Damian shook his head, glancing from his book to out the hotel window.
“They snuck out sometime early this morning while I was on my run. Jason was supposed to be keeping an eye on them.”
A slight protest echoed through the suite as Marinette shook her head.
“Do you think we’ll ever get Adrien to meet Selina at this rate? I know he needed this break, but I hadn’t expected to be gone this long. I just turned 17, if it wasn’t for Jason here being a technical adult, my parents would have never let me come. I’m honestly surprised that they haven’t shown up to drag me to Paris.”
Damian nodded slightly, his thoughts straying to the idea of an angry Sabine showing up at their hotel. The thought alone was enough to send a shiver down his spine. He opened his mouth, unsure how to respond when he caught the sound of a set of familiar giggles outside the suites’ door.
“We’re home! Marinette! You won’t believe how awesome the sunrise in Metropolis is when you’re so high up. Jon is awesome!”
The boy tried his best to hide his blush as he gently swatted Adrien’s shoulder, earning a giggle from the blonde.
“Okay lovebirds, how about you stop running off without the rest of us? At least tell us where you’re going, is that too much to ask?”
A simultaneous ‘yes mom’ came from the duo as they ducked out of Marinette’s reach, racing down the hallway.
“That’s it, I’m calling Selena right now. Damian, Jason, between the two of you, figure out a way to keep our rebellious teens in check. It shouldn’t take longer than thirty minutes for her to arrive, I’m sure the two of you can manage.”
Jason peeked his head into Damian’s room, his eyebrows raised matching how Damian felt. Did she have any idea how hard it was to hold down a Kryptonian without using Kryptonite? If only she hadn’t banned Damian from bringing it to Metropolis.
With a small huff of annoyance, Damian swung his legs off his bed, placing his book back on the nightstand carefully. This was going to be the longest thirty minutes of his life.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“Dammit children, can’t you sit still for one minute!” Jason gripped both boy's collars as he tossed them back onto the couch that they had escaped from.
“Aw, c’mon Jason. I thought you were the fun Wayne! I just want to show Adrien a good time before he had to leave.”
Damian wasn’t sure how much more Jason could take. The vein on his forehead looked like it was about to burst from him resisting beating the two to a pulp. It was honestly a bit satisfying to look at.
“Can you at least explain why we’re on house arrest? The day has just started and we’re already wasting it.”
“I told you already Agreste, Marinette wants you to meet a friend of hers that lives nearby. We can’t have you skipping out before she gets here.”
Adrien sighed dramatically before falling into Jon’s shoulder.
“But waiting is boring!”
Damian felt his nose twitch while staring at the blonde. Honestly, he didn’t know how Marinette was able to keep up with this child-like energy for all the years she had. He was exhausted after a mere thirty minutes.
The sound of the doorknob rattling caught the attention of the four as a collective sigh of relief echoed through the room.
“Well hello there my kittens, long time no see.” Within a split second, Selina was already on top of Damian, pulling him into the biggest hug she could manage.
“Release me you heathen, I do not like being touched!”
Selina giggled as she tightened her hug before releasing him, allowing him to drop to the floor.
“Oh, I know. I enjoy giving you a hard time the most Damiboo.”
Damian cringed at the nickname as he allowed Marinette to help him back to his feet. While Selina was unbearable, he honestly had to applaud Jason for his thought. If anyone could reign in the energy Adrien had, it would be her.
“You must be Adrien. I’m Selina Kyle, so very nice to meet you.”
Adrien swallowed hard as he tentatively reached out his hand to shake hers. No one could blame him, the look on Selina’s face was terrifying as if she was admiring a jewel before shattering it into pieces.
“Now let’s cut to the chase. Do you want to live with me? You obviously need a parent figure in your life, but you also only have a year left until you can be on your own. I know it’s a big change from Paris, but between Zeta tubes and that little horse your friend Marinette carries, you’ll never be too far.”
Damian bit his lip hard, trying not to yell at Selina for her brashness. She was supposed to be gentle and coaxing. Get him to like her, spend the day with him, and then suggest it. Adrien looked as white as a ghost, as expected when someone you’ve only heard stories about shows up in your hotel room with adoption papers.
“Uhm, I don’t really want a guardian. My aunt said she would rent me an apartment wherever I wanted and when the time came for my 18th birthday, she’d sign it over to me-”
Adrien was cut off as Selina placed a finger over his lips, shocking him into silence.
“Honey, I can do that for you. Don’t rely on family who will want to steal your father’s fortune. However, I will have a few conditions.”
Adrien nodded slowly, his eyes glancing around frantically as if asking for help.
“First, you must visit Wayne Manor once a week for a family dinner, I refuse to let you off the hook with no real resemblance of a family. Second, you must rent here in Metropolis where you already have a good person looking out for you. And third, you must force Damian and Jason to participate in these once a week dinners.”
Jason and Damian shouted frantically for him to decline, their plans falling to pieces before them. They only quieted down after Marinette reached back giving them matching red bumps on their foreheads.
“What do you say, sweetie? I can tell you and Jon are already close and I think this would be best for everyone. You had already finished your studies in France so you can take this year to decide what you want to do next in life and I think between the Kents and us, we can help you with that.”
It took less than a minute for Adrien to agree and for Damian and Jason to be bested by two black cats. Selina insisted on lunch to celebrate, dragging Adrien and Jon with her and out the door leaving the three exhausted crusaders behind.
“Well, technically Bruce won’t be the one adopting him.” Marinette shrugged before plopping on the couch, the other two following suit.
“Yeah, but like, we went through all this trouble to stop Dick and Adrien from meeting, and now we will be having weekly dinners with them. Marinette, you are officially forced into this agreement as well.” Jason poked at her side, a small sigh of defeat escaping from his lips.
“Stupid lovestruck Jon.” Marinette and Jason turned their attention to where Damian sat, his arms crossed in annoyance. “I bet if they hadn’t had this week to hang out, Selina wouldn’t have picked up on their stupid crushes. Why do you women always feel the need to meddle?”
The air was silent for a moment before laughter erupted from Damian’s right side. Shaking his head, he couldn’t help the small giggle that came from his own mouth. Stupid Jon, making him attend family dinners with the likes of Dick and Adrien. He was happy for him, not to be confused with the utter annoyance he felt for him at the moment as well.
As they sat there joking about their shared fate and pondering how it could’ve gone differently, one thought was constant across all three of their minds:
Who could’ve planned for stupid lovestruck Jon?

Marinette: Mother of Superboy
This fic is NOT RELATED TO ANY OTHER FIC. It’s just this random idea I just had, okay? It will not go anywhere. Don’t kill me for who the pairing is OKAY. It was random thought. Honest
Marinette didn’t know how she found him. She had been taking pictures of potential fashion shoot locations for her new line, not too far away from Metropolis when she heard crying.
She went searching and deep in the nearby forest she found a little boy, not older than two, with black hair and blue eyes, and her heart just melted. He was naked and had big tears streaming down his face.
And then her head nearly melted when the baby started floating.
Marinette bundled him up in her coat and noticed the bracelet; project Kr on his wrist and symbol for Cadmus.
Anger surged through and within seconds, the bracelet was destroyed. She had heard about Cadmus and the vendetta that had against Alien visitors. And there was no doubt that that was what the little boy wasp Alien.
And now, Marinette’s son.
She named him Connor Adrien Dupain-Cheng, after her friend, brother, and partner, who had tragically died in battle against the villain Hawkmoth when they were still just kids. They had emerged victorious, Hawkmoth never rises again, but Marinette would never forget the cost.
A beautiful green-eyed boy whose smile outshined the sun.
Gabriel Agreste upon hearing of Chat Noir’s true identity and his death, after his conviction, would later kill himself in prison. He finally reunited his family as he’d always wished for.
Marinette had left Paris behind her forever after graduation and gone on to New York. Her friends had turned their backs on her during the Lila situation. It only after Marinette left, that she heard the truth had been exposed and that her old classmates were trying to get in contact with her. But she never looked back.
Instead, in the eight years, she had been in New York, she had created a successful and famous fashion line called MDC. Everyone who was anyone wanted to be in one of custom designs. Her name was in light. She was rich. She was famous. She had connections.
Enough connections that making Connor look like he was biologically hers wouldn’t be a problem. In addition, her last two years Marinette hadn’t been the spotlight much. It wouldn’t be hard to fool people.
Three weeks later, world-renowned fashion designed introduced the world to her son; a sweet, giggling, baby who she had hidden from the public as of protectiveness. The media bought it. Marinette was known sweetheart and known for her overprotective nature regarding her family.
Connor was still having a hard time controlling his powers so Marinette never took him in public. They even lived in a secluded area outside the city, no one around for a mile. Instead, she posted frequent pictures and videos on Instagram of her darling baby boy.
It wasn’t long before he became the light of the world. She even created a baby and toddler clothing line inspired about him and other kids who liked to get messy. Because he did.
Connor loved to create chaos; whether it was with paint, sand, or mud. If it could splat, splatter, stain, or make a loud noise, he loved it.
Marinette had been a mother for almost two years, when her longtime friend and now publicist, got a hold of her and said it was time for an interview. She’d been out of the spotlight for too long. People were getting curious, desperate to know more. Desperate people should NOT be taken lightly.
So the Mom agreed.
Chloe promised to send a reporter Marinette could trust; one who knew how to do a good puff piece.
When Clark Kent rang her doorbell, Marinette felt something she hadn’t since for early years of schooling; she wanted to kill Chloe.
It wasn’t that Clark was a bad reporter. He was great. And Marinette knew she could trust him. The issue was that the reason that she knew she could trust him was that she dated him not long before she got really famous. They had been together for quite some time, they’d gone on a break. Each had gotten too busy with their lives and need time apart. Three months, she heard Clark was dead, gone to his funeral. And then not long after that, he was declared alive again. He never contacted her. She never contacted him. Just nursed a broken heart of the first man she ever saw a future with.
“Hey Marinette,” Clark gave her a shy smile. “You look great.”
Marinette stood in a beautiful fifties-style white dress with red polka dots. She raised an eyebrow, “You look alive.”
He sighed. Yeah, he knew she’d be pissed. He had kept meaning to contact her, call her just to let her know he was alright, just to hear her voice. But things, villains, life kept getting in the way. And he never did. It had been a little over five years since they had been together since he’d seen her.
Marinette led Clark to the living room where Connor sat on his playmat. She’d promised him a giant chocolate mint cupcake if he behaved, and more importantly, didn’t use his powers in front of the reporter.
“So that’s him? Connor?” Clark stated with a smile. “He looks just like you.”
Connor looked up from his toy truck at the sound of his name and gave the adults a happy grin.
Marinette nodded with a happy sigh because everyone always assumed Connor got his dark hair and blue eyes from her.
The interview went well. Clark asked how she was juggling being a famous designer and a single mom, about her newest collection, if Connor would be going to public school or private, her funniest kid story. It was great
Clark suddenly got a funny look on his face, “What about his dad? Who’s he?”
Marinette blinked. The father of Connor was on a list of do not ask questions.
“Why do you ask?”
Clark pointed his pen next to her, “Because he’s floating.”
And sure enough, her sweet baby boy was twirling in the air. Marinette was stunned. She tried to come up with something to say; anything that would explain why her kid could fly. But before she could…
“I’m the father, aren’t ?” Clark asked, a sad expression on his face. “You thought I was dead when you found out you were going to be a mom.”
It was clear now that Clark really looked at the kid. Connor looked just like him; scarily so. A few key differences; the cheekbones, the slighter figure. They even smelled alike, though he smelled more like Marinette then him. It was a wonder it took so long for him to see it.
Marinette straightens up and narrowed her eyes at the man. She always had a few suspicions about Clark but could never prove anything. In the end, it never seemed important. She loved him. “And why does my kid having powers automatically make yours?”
Clark stood up and spun around. A moment later, Superman stood in front of her. Suddenly, Connor spun around really fast too, laughing the entire time. Clark, Superman, just laughed along too. Connor flew to the man of steel, and Clark took him in his arms and hugged him close.
Marinette couldn’t deny it. The resemblance was too uncanny. Connor was Clark’s son. Which brought up a whole of questions.
Superman gave her a wary smile, “I should have told you.” He said. “I wanted to.
“Connor is my son,” Marinette suddenly growled, leaving no room for argument. “No one will take him from me.”
“I would never!” Clark cried. “I’d never take him from you, Marinette. You’re his mom.” He looked down at his feet. “I just want to be apart of his life too.”
Marinette nodded, “You say that now…” Clark opened his mouth to interrupt but Marinette raised a hand. “I have some things to tell you. And when I’m done, if you still feel the same. I will let you be Connor’s dad. I will let you tell the entire world Clark Kent is Connor’s dad. But first, you need to sit down.”
Clark transformed back into his suit and tie and sat down as instructed.
“First let me say, I am Connor’s mother,” Marinette stated. “I will always be Connor’s mother.” Then she told Clark about how she found Connor in the woods one day and how he became her son. After some testing, she discovered he was half-human and half-something else but that didn’t change how much she loved him
Clark could listen to the story; only becoming a little disappointed that Connor was his and Marinette’s biological son. But the tale sounded so similar to how his own parents found him that Clark couldn’t help but smile by the end of it.
When Marinette was finished, Clark hugged the little boy closer, “Tomorrow, the Daily planet will read about famous Fashion designer Marinette and star reporter Clark Kent’s son Connor Dupain-Cheng-Kent and the family they have…I just have to tell my mom first.”
“And your dad,” Marinette giggled, having already met Martha and dealt with her non-subtle hints about grandbabies.
Clark waved it off, “Him too.”
Clark stayed for the next few hours, to play with Connor and talk more with Marinette. When Connor went to sleep, the two discussed his Superhero identity… and hers.
“Ladybug?” Clark asked after Marinette had transformed. “Really?”
“Oh like Superman’s a better man.”
When Clark went to leave, he had to fight every urge he had anot to kiss Marinette, his one-time, the mother of his child, goodnight. He waited at the front door, fidgeting with his tie.
Marinette rolled her eyes; it was their first date all over again. She jumped forward and kissed him on the cheek, “Goodnight.”
He blushed and readied himself to fly off. But before he did, Clark gave Marinette a sheepish, don’t kill me, smile, “Oh, and Batman’s going to drop by once he hears this.” And then he flew off… Like a coward.
Marinette just glared at the sky.

Queen Bee vs. Ladybug and Noir Knight
Okay! This is for @nobodyfamousposts who won the contest @a-marlene-s held.
Here is the story you requested for winning, hope you like it.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
I frowned as Marinette pulled back. Is she alright?
“Sorry, I.. I don’t know why I did that.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, Thank you, Luka.”
I smiled, she’s so sweet.
“Oh, uh, by the way, did you find that perfect tune you were looking for?”
“I think I did, yeah, but are you sure you really want to hear it?”
I softened as she frowned.
“You’re still thinking of Adrien, aren’t you?”
It’s not a bad thing, she loves who she loves. I’ll respect that and happily stay her friend if that’s what she wants.
She looked away.
I smiled down at her, then blinked when I saw… buzzing yellow? Bees? Wasps? What….
“Marinette!” I grabbed her and ran.
Bolting down the street, her hand in mine.
“Oh no, not those things again!” She cried.
Her eyes shot to me briefly.
“Come on!”
Can we escape them? Is it possible?
“We have to take shelter.” She called.
I nodded.
She looked away and took a deep breath. Her song grew determined.
What is she?
“Tikki, Power up!”
I looked over to stare, a red blur snapped something blue out of the air and…. Was that a kwami!?
She pulled me now, towards the bridge boundary.
“Tikki! Spots on!”
My jaw dropped. I almost stopped.
She grabbed me and jumped. We fell to the water.
She placed her yo-yo put in front of my mouth as we hit the water.
Marinette is Ladybug!
She looked at me sheepishly now.
“You can’t tell anyone!” She blurted, “Seriously, you can’t- you can’t-”
She started hyperventilating.
“I would never. Not in a million years. Your secret is safe with me Marinette.”
She stared for a long minute, then nodded.
“Thank you, Luka.”
I nodded.
“But now…. I should’ve known there was more to Hawkmoth’s plan.”
“It’s okay, since you’re ladybug you know I’m Viperion. I’ll help you however I can.”
She smiled, “Thank you. The battle isn’t over now!”
++++++++++++++++++++
“Your indecision is hurtful Adrien.”
He looked away.
It is hurtful, he keeps changing his mind, it seems almost like he’s leading me on. Using me as a backup. It hurts.
I jolted as something small and yellow, oh no, an akuma!
It reached Adrien before I could stop it. His eyes turning yellow.
Then everything went black.
+++++++++++++++++++++
I watched gleefully as miracle queen called the miraculous wielders to us. Hopefully Ladybug and Chat Noir got stung too.
But regardless, ladybug will be deprived of all her allies now.
I watched some boy I don’t know, that reporter for the Ladyblog, my son’s idiotic friend, some boy I don’t know, and the Tsurugi girl.
What a strange group.
But then my heart nearly stopped, my son. Adrien was a miraculous holder!?
If I do anything to stop the current plan and move him away then everyone will know my identity.
Okay, it doesn’t matter. It’ll be fine, we’re going to win anyways. Adrien will understand when I’m done. It doesn’t matter what happens in the meantime.
“Why such ridiculous choices! Anyways, grab your miraculous.”
The reporter girl grabbed the fox.
The first unknown boy grabbed the horse.
The second unknown boy grabbed the monkey.
My son grabbed the snake.
The last two, my son’s idiotic friend and the Tsurugi girl simply stood there.
“Why don’t they grab any?”
“Maybe because they don’t have any!”
“Or,” I murmured, “Someone is already wearing them.”
She ignored me, “Come on, hurry up and transform, my pawns!”
Drama queen more like.
“Trixx, let’s pounce.” Rena Rouge.
“Kalkki, Full gallop.” Pegasus.
“Xuppu, Showtime.” Roi Singe
“Sass, Scales slither.”
I stared in confusion at my son, that’s not Viperion. Then… who’s viperion? And why did my son take that miraculous?
“You were once Ladybug and Chat Noir’s minions, but from now on, you will be Miracle Queen’s Royal Guard!”
They bowed.
“Ladybug, Chat Noir, I’m gonna use your own weapons to defeat you. You’ll so regret not choosing me!”
I left to Mayura.
++++++++++++++++++++++
“I’m worried Luka. I was never able to give my guardian and master back the dragon miraculous. And now… He’s gone and I need him.”
“it’s okay, we can find-“
“Ladybug!”
I stared at another kwami swimming rapidly towards us. Oh dear, is that a cat?
And it held the black cat miraculous.
“Chat Noir has been stung, I managed to grab the miraculous and get away. Who’s this?”
“I’m Luka…”
“Cool, well, did the Master say anything when you returned the dragon?”
“I didn’t get the chance! He’s gone and… I tried, he’s missing.”
The kwami looked worried.
“Okay, one second. Hold this.”
He dropped the ring in her hand and zipped up.
We stood there for a minute before the cat came back down.
“Okay so, bad news. Hawkmoth got the miracle box, and the Master is desperately holding his shield against Mayura and Hawkmoth.”
“Oh no, this is all my fault, I didn’t transform back before going to find him and-“
“Oh bug,” the cat kwami moved over to her, “It’s not. In fact, it’s probably a good thing. If they were following you to find him then if you’d transformed back, they would’ve learned your identity.”
Both of our eye’s widened.
“That would’ve been bad. But it’s okay then now. All we have to do is save the Master before Hawkmoth and Mayura break through! And if anyone has the knowledge and skill to do that, it’s you Mari- Ladybug.” I stared at her earnestly, trying to convey the faith I have in her.
She peeked up, swallowing before nodding.
Then threw her arms around me, “Thank you Luka. You always know just what to say.”
I smiled, hugging her back. “How could I not have complete faith in you. No matter if you’re in the mask or out, you always do your best to do good. I don’t know how I didn’t know who you were sooner, you’re the only one that could be kind enough to be Ladybug.”
She squeaked, burying her head in my shoulder.
“We can do this Ladybug.”
She pulled back with a nod.
“Okay, now we have to free them from Miracle Queen. You don’t have a miraculous, we should fix that. You work best with the snake, but…”
She stared at the ring in her hand, “Plagg, would you mind having a temporary wielder, until we can get the snake back?”
The little kwami hummed, zipping in front of me.
“I suppose he’s alright, could be worse.” He moved around me. “Alright, I’ll allow it. He can use my Miraculous until we get my cat back.”
She beamed, “Thank you Plagg.”
She now turned to me with a serious expression.
“Luka Couffaine, this is the Miraculous of the black cat. I am giving it to you for this battle and this battle only. When we have finished, you will return this miraculous to me. Do you understand?”
I nodded, “I understand. You can count on me Ladybug.”
“Plagg, power up.” She held out another blue thing that Plagg ate, changing his appearance? He now had a tail and fins.
Plagg swam in front of me, “Say Plagg, Claws Out.”
“Plagg… Claws Out!”
The energy that flowed over me was different from the creeping slither of Sass’s. This power was chaotic, energizing. It felt like I could take on the world.
I smiled at Marinette, Ladybug, as I felt the uniform settle.
“You look great!” She said.
I glanced down to note the boots, the green highlights on the suit, the chains hanging loose, I moved my arms, I like the jacket that came with it, open, with bright green for chest with deep black plating. I like it. The bright green isn’t too much, and it goes well with the black. I felt the mask on my face and the ears on my head. This’ll work.”
She smiled, “Now we have to save the others.”
I nodded, Ladybug’s got this. And I’ll help however necessary.
“Then we can defeat Mayura, Hawk Moth, and his sentimonster. But first we’ve gotta neutralize those wasps so we can get out of the water. If we get stung, it’s all over.”
Luka smiled, “Sounds like you have a plan.”
She grinned, “Yep, I’m gonna make it easy for us.”
She put a necklace on. I watched curiously as a ? Dragon? Came out.
“Alright, how does that work then?” I asked.
“I’m ready to fight Ladybug!” The little dragon kwami said.
She smiled at me, “Up we go.”
“When we reach the surface say Claws in, it’ll get rid of the powerup so you can fight normally.”
“Claws in!”
“Spots off!”
“Tikki, Long, Unify!”
I watched in awe as the black and gold swept up her body, leaving her in a cooler outfit then her normal one. Plus, a sword.
The two of us flipped, heading towards land.
“Water Dragon!”
An orb of water surrounded us.
Okay, that’s really cool. Marinette really is amazing.
We hit the ground, the orb of water expanding to cover the other controlled heroes and pushing Chloe back.
“Ladybug! And hey, you’re not Chat!”
Ladybug smirked, “It’ll be Dragonbug to you Chloe.”
I nodded, then realized I need a name.
“I’m- I’m the Noir Knight.” I nodded, “I’m Noir Knight, here to guard Ladybug.”
“A few extra powers aren’t going to save you, you know.”
We both looked up to see Hawkmoth.
“In a few moments when the old guardian is too weak and his shield is broken, I’ll force him to tell me your secret identities. And it will all be thanks to Ladybug! She led you all to your doom!”
Marinette frowned, her song filled with worry. The pain in her eyes…
“He’s trying to divide you! Don’t listen to him! Ladybug! I chose you for a reason. And I trust your judgement.”
A voice I don’t recognize.
Well, “You’re wrong Hawkmoth!” I called, “Ladybug is kind and helpful. She’s risked everything for this city time and time again. You tried to follow her to find out her identity, but you failed at that. You might have found the Master, but you failed to find Ladybug! And that’s the important thing! We will stop you, because Ladybug is here and I’m here to help her. It doesn’t matter what you say or do! You can’t win against her!”
She stared at me, her eyes wide.
Then she smiled, her song alight with joy and determination.
“It’s us against the world Noir Knight.”
I smiled, “Whenever you need me.”
We turned back, “I fight with Ladybug!”
“Welcome to your doomsday, Hawkmoth!”
“Urgh, It’s time to take action my queen!”
“Guards! En Guard!”
The four heroes started using their powers, mirage, uproar, voyage, and… second chance.
That’s the one I need. I need Sass back.
“Right, Knight, Aspik is the most dangerous with second chance. You focus on him.”
She flashed me a smile, “You’ve got this, you know his powers better than him.”
I nodded, “Understood, you be careful Ladybug.”
She nodded, and both of us moved in.
Her sword out and yo-yo drawn she was already able to counter the controlled heroes.
I raised my hand, “Cataclysm!”
I charged towards Aspik, kicked him back.
I charged towards Aspik, kicked at him, grabbed his hands and yanked.
“I got it!” Ladybug grabbed his wrist, and the bracelet was off. A flash of light and Adrien and Sass were there.
“Alright Knight!” She called, “It’s your turn!”
She tossed me the bracelet and I grinned.
“Sass! Scales Sllither!”
The familiar power of Sass surged over me. The mask sharpened, the Jacket gained a scale pattern. The bright green changed to Sass’s aqua shade. A diamond appeared on my chest. The boots became more streamlined.
Perfect.
“Second Chance!”
Better safe than sorry.
I swiped out two illusions, noticing behind Dragonbug another figure.
“Dragonbug, behind you!”
She sliced through the illusion in front of her then shot her yo-yo through the figure behind, only to falter when it was an illusion too, and Roi Singe caught her yo-yo.
Roi Singe tapped his Uproar item to it, and the water disappeared.
Not good.
I quickly set us back to the beginning.
“They’re all illusions Dragonbug!”
I charged forward, noting the hole appearing, just barely rolled to the side, grimacing.
“Dragonbug keep your yo-yo in hand!”
I jumped, kicking Roi Singe back, pulled the baton out to hit him hard. He slammed against the water barrier.
I grabbed his staff and his uproar item.
“Dragonbug, there!”
I pointed towards where Miracle Queen was. A crazy idea coming to mind.
If it messes up Dragonbug’s power so thoroughly with just a touch to her yo-yo, not even her, I just need to hit Miracle Queen.
She opened a hole and I threw the staff through. Ignoring her laugh I sent the uproar item through next.
The bee/wasp things exploded into confetti.
Dragonbug let the water shield fall. Sending her yo-yo out to grab Miracle Queen she dragged her to us.
I quickly grabbed the now discoball source of her power with my Cataclysm.
Dragonbug is great at figuring out the plan.
The other three that were under control quickly straightened.
“Longg, Tikki, Divide.”
Longg split off of her, she smiled at him.
I nodded though, best I copy her.
“Sass, Plagg, Divide.” I caught Sass as he came off, smiling gently.
He winked at me.
“No more evil doing for you, little akuma. It’s time to de-evilize!”
She flicked her yo-yo out, snapping up the akuma. “Gotcha.”
“Bye bye little butterfly.”
Chloe changed back to normal, or well, changed by to Queen Bee.
I turned to look at Hawkmoth, best keep an eye on the enemy.
He laughed, letting out another akuma.
Chloe lit up, grabbing for the akuma.
How dare she!
Ladybug caught the akuma, purifying it as well.
“Hawkmoth is our enemy, Chloe. He can’t get ahold of the Miracle Box!”
I glared at Chloe, “How dare you. This is willingly working with him. A terrorist.”
“Well I’m not on your side anymore!”
“So then you’re a terrorist.”
She glared, “You didn’t want me. How many times did I ask to fight alongside you? And how many times have you refused to give me back my Miraculous. How many huh?”
My glare intensified. “It’s not YOUR Miraculous.”
She glared at me, “Hawkmoth isn’t my enemy, he’s yours! And the Miracle Box is mine!”
“He’s an enemy of the city! Of the country! Siding with him, Chloe you’re a criminal. You’ll be arrested for this!”
Ladybug nodded, “Chloe!”
Chloe ignored us, sitting down and opening the box.
She started to put on all the jewelry, a necklace, a hair pin, a bracelet thing, a ring, a nose ring, an anklet, another necklace.
“No Chloe don’t do that!”
“Oh yes I am, I’m going to be the most powerful Miraculous wielder there ever was!”
Hawkmoth’s laughter in the background only made me angrier.
This spoiled brat thought that she could get away with literal terrorism? That there would be no consequences of this.
I glanced down at my baton.
Hmm.
I hit record.
“I don’t even need to do anything! I knew you were one of us, Chloe Bourgeois!”
Chloe laughed madly, throwing her arms out.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Transform me!”
The kwamis seemed entirely unimpressed.
“She doesn’t even know our names!”
“You didn’t give the right commands!”
“Or say please for that matter.”
“I am your queen!” She cried, “The queen of the Miraculous! I command you to tell me how to proceed!”
I frowned as my ring beeped, I don’t have much time left.
“Then the Guardian will be at my mercy!”
I glanced back at Hawkmoth, well, that’s going great.
“Your friends are about to transform back! You’re on your own. Checkmate, Ladybug.”
Her eye’s narrowed, she scanned the area and nodded.
“I still have one move left Hawkmoth,” She flashed a smile at me.
“Lucky Charm!”
She threw her yo-yo up, a blur of ladybugs and a keyring fell into her hand.
She frowned, “A keyring? What am I supposed to do with this?”
She looked around frowning.
Hawkmoth laughed some more.
I don’t really hate people, but I think I can make an exception for Hawkmoth. And Chloe.
“Nothing! There’s nothing you can do! My plan was perfect! You can’t beat me!”
I squinted.
He sucks.
She looked around more, before turning to me.
“I can’t figure it out!”
“It’s okay Ladybug. Take a deep breath, center yourself, then focus. You’ve got this. You’re the smartest girl I know.”
She breathed in slowly, then let out the breath. Closing her eyes, she just breathed for a moment.
Then she looked around again.
Her expression faltered when she saw the Master again.
“I-“
“Hey,” I stepped closer, gently holding her shoulders, “Look at me. Nothing else. Just me. It’s okay.”
“But it’s my fault. If I hadn’t forgotten to de-transform.”
“Then Hawkmoth might’ve found out your identity and found the Master.”
“But- I- It’s my fault. I’m the worst Ladybug to ever exist!” She dropped against my chest.
“No Ladybug,” The Master called down, “You are the best Miraculous holder I’ve ever met. You made mistakes, but who hasn’t? What matters is to fix them. And you always, always miraculously knew how to fix everything, right?”
“But what should I do Master!?”
“You hold all the keys Ladybug. You always have. And you will be the most magnificent of the Guardians.”
“What!?” Hawkmoth snapped.
“Master!” The Kwamis cried.
“No!”
“Don’t do it!”
“I, Want Fu, hereby relinquish the Miracle Box and name Ladybug the new Guardian!”
My eyes widened what-
He lit up with white light.
The miracle box in front of Chloe lit up as well, a blur of light as it changed form.
An egg of Red with Black spots, though it looked… off.
The Master’s transformation ended, the egg dropped from the air, landing in Chloe’s hands.
“No! It’s my Miracle Box, MINE! I’m the Guardian! I’m the Queen!”
Selfish brat.
“Hawkmoth! Tell him to give me my box back!”
Hawkmoth turned away, scooping up Mayura. The Sentimonster started away.
My eyes narrowed.
“I’ll go after them, you grab the box.”
She nodded, “Good luck.”
I tried to follow, but the Sentimonster was too fast. I wouldn’t be able to catch up. Better I go back to Ladybug. In case she needs any help, however unlikely.
I returned in time to see her take the bee back from Chloe, and to hear Chloe yell about leaving with ‘mummy’.
I landed by Ladybug as the spoiled brat stomped off.
“Sorry, I couldn’t catch them. But, Chloe can’t get away with this.”
She looked away, “I know.”
I nodded.
We both quickly turned to leap up to the Master.
“Master,” she cried, crouching beside him, “Master wake up!”
She let out a half sob, I crouched beside her, touching her shoulder.
“Master? Master? Please…” she whispered.
He groaned.
The little kwami suddenly swept behind ladybug. Why did it-
“Oh, Such pretty costumes. Who are you.”
I felt Ladybug’s horror.
“Oh no,” I whispered, “Did he… did he lose his memory?”
The kwami pressed against Ladybug’s back.
“It’s the rule of the Guardians. Their memory gets erased when they pass on the box, to protect the secret identities of the Miraculous holders.”
“It’s all good,” Marinette said, her smile hiding the pain that her song held, “We’re friends sir.”
“Well, nice to meet you!” The Master said.
“Goodbye, Master.” The kwami whispered, dropping as his song ached with longing and sadness.
“Wait, Ladybug,” I turned to her, “You still have to cast the cure.”
She perked up, “Do you think-“
“I don’t know, I don’t know enough about the Miraculous. But it might be possible.”
“Of course.”
She pulled out the keychain that really did nothing for anyone.
“Miraculous Ladybug!”
The ladybugs swarmed around us, around the city.
“Master! Do you remember me?”
The hope in her song was almost painful.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you, young lady, but this is the first time I’ve ever set eyes on you.”
The crash was hard. I might not know him, but he was Ladybug’s Master, and it’s clear that she loves him dearly.
The pain in her song, the resignation. I took her hand, trying to offer comfort.
“Yes, of course.”
“I guess since he did it to himself, and it had nothing to do with Chloe…”
“My magical ladybugs couldn’t do anything.” She whispered.
“It’s a shame you threw such a pretty keyring away.” The Master said, “I could’ve used it for my key. They were matching too.”
Ladybug gasped.
I blinked, oh, that’s what the keyring was for.
She smiled at him. “Thank you.”
We helped him down, then de-transformed back at the park.
“Thank you Luka.” She said, putting Longg’s Miraculous back in the box.
I handed her the snake Miraculous.
She stared at it for a long moment, before shaking her head.
“No, you were a huge help today.”
Plagg nodded, “Yeah, you did good for a first time cat.”
She locked eyes with me.
“Luka Couffaine, will you accept the duty of holding and guarding the snake Miraculous, putting it’s safety above your own, and use it to defend this city in times of need?”
I gasped, staring for a long moment before I swallowed. Nodding.
“I will.”
She needs me, I won’t let her down.
“Then Luka, you will keep Sass with you, reveal him to nobody, and when you are called, come to aid the city.”
She smiled, tears gathering.
“I’ll stand by you now and forever Marinette.”
“Thank you.” She lunged forward to hug me, “Thank you.”

Marinette did not sign up for this part 6
this part was broken in two for my sanity.
first part here previous part here ao3 here
--
Bruce is many things, including Batman. He is currently trying to figure out how to launch a search party for his daughter’s missing magic jewelry and to find the thieves. (god, he hasn’t even met her yet and she has so many problems. She needs him there already and he isn’t). He is a father to many children who are currently searching for her, and who only just thought to inform him of this fact. On top of that, he is Batman—Justice League, cases, and keeping up his aliases on top of managing his possibly injured son.
What he is not expecting is a call from Hal when he is mid-way through a case while keeping Red Hood down. He is not expecting for Oracle to patch him through, nor is he expecting it to include Diana and Arthur—granted they all know each other’s identities at this point, but still. He would like to be uniform when his allies call him for work. Instead, he’s in civvies, in Jason’s room on his laptop keeping his son in place by sitting at the foot of his bed and shooting him looks on occasion. The only mercy was it being audio only.
“Batman we need to have a talk,” Hal stated.
Jason decided to make a break for it while Bruce was distracted. Bruce tackled his son and dragged him back to bed. “Little busy. Someone with Pegasus’ abilities dropped Hood into the harbor and he’s on bedrest.”
“I object to this treatment! I’m fine!”
“Not until Agent A clears you.”
“Fuck you B.”
“Hood.”
Jason stuck out his tongue and relented for the moment.
“So you’re aware he pulled a gun on a kid?”
Bruce choked at that.
Jason sat up. “First of all, dart gun with knock outs thank you very much, second of all, kid clearly stole Ladybug’s whatever that lets her transform, same with the girl using the cat that clearly has a lot of anxiety and definitely should not be in the field if she’s hyperventilating!”
Bruce could feel Diana being held back by someone. Possibly Hal’s ring, or Arthur.
“That was a teammate certified by the Ladybug and Chat Noir as allowed to use their miraculous given that Ladybug was needed on another mission at the time. Mr. Bug has appeared once before when Ladybug was unable to appear, and Chatte Noire is usually for solo stealth missions but was called to handle this particular akuma.” Arthur explained. “Your son attacked Ladybug’s team and has only made them all more unwilling to allow any contact after Sandboy.”
Bruce froze. His daughter needs help, and is denying the league the right to after Jason’s (well-intentioned) actions.
“Are they—”
“Ladybug has stated that the League may not approach her team during patrol, which was our main contact point. Miss Sting has become their representative for any and all contact, save one Amazonian historian,” Diana hissed. “She is convinced your whole family is trying to kill her now. You are to keep your house out of Paris until this is handled—if it wasn’t for the team being convinced that Red Hood was one of Sandboy’s creations, we would not be allowed to contact her at all!”
Bruce froze. His daughter is terrified of his family—of her family. She thinks they are out to kill her. He need to have a family meeting, now.
“I’ll check their locations and bring them back.”
“You better!”
“It is not wise to anger the Savior and Destroyer, so do so as quickly as possible,” Arthur stressed.
“Seriously Bats, get your house in order.”
“Hey, he’s not in charge of us anymore,” Jason tried to defend, only his voice wasn’t all there. “We’re our own people here. He just makes sure we don’t bleed out at this point.”
“Might want to work on that too.” Bruce wasn’t focusing enough to tell which of them said that.
Jason was shockingly quiet after that, typing absently on his phone.
Bruce needed to fix this. He turned on his kids trackers, only to find they were already in Paris, or… moving toward it. And comms were down.
“Oracle, report.”
“Sorry B, but I think they found her and we may have pinned down Hawkmoth.”
Bruce wanted to scream. He didn’t. “Report the identity to the League and leave Paris, now.”
“… Tim isn’t responding, Cass has plans with a family, and Steph is part of those, so you’re going to have to wait a day or so.”
Jason typed harder, but said nothing. Bruce could feel the self-recrimination and knew better than to intervene just yet. When he put down the phone (and when Bruce finished his own investigation on this matter) they would talk. For now, he had to wait.
---
Nino is a lot of things. Amazing director (albeit a tyrant as one), a top notch dj, and a superhero. He is also smart, charming, and very good at reading people and knowing when something is up. Perks of being Carapace and having Wayzz all the time—people’s weaknesses are a lot easier to spot now, and any fronts they try to put up, he already sees right through them. Especially when its someone he’s known forever.
Marinette has been on edge, around the same time as Ladybug started acting up. Granted, finding out she has a pen knife last year by her accidently using it to draw in class that one time did give him a wakeup call on Marinette having a paranoia streak on top of her anxiety, but usually the girl calmed down during school or when she was designing during breaks.
This time, that wasn’t happening. He’s… not sure how to get her to open up on this one. Looking over her shoulder and the constant twitching meant she was probably hit hard by Sandboy last night, and hadn’t recovered yet. He really wished he got a few hits in himself on the akuma—it always messed up everyone afterwards. And Marinette didn’t need the extra stress with her new designs for the Worst Father Ever’s company and tests that week.
And yet here they are, with her on edge. Most of the class was hit, and no one was at a hundred percent and all, he got that but…
“Sandboy?” Nino started, hoping it was casual enough that Marinette didn’t catch how frustrated he was with all of this. Ladybug was missing last night so Mr. Bug was there, Chatte was filling in for Chat and had an anxiety attack, the battle took way too long and it was so painfully clear that Chatte isn’t a hitter and that Mr. Bug is no strategist. Viperion stepped into that role with ease when he managed to get there, but still. The whole situation was messed up and he couldn’t fix it. Even when its hurting his friends.
Marinette let out a shaky breath. “Yeah.”
“Wanna talk about it or…”
“NO! I—I never wanted to, I…” Marinette was at a loss for words again, tugging at her hair.
“Its okay dudette.” He made sure to take her hands out of her hair before she knotted it like she did when they were kids. She hated getting them out after, always cried a bit from how much it hurt with how big her knots would get and how uncooperative they were. “That bad?”
Marinette nodded, curled in a bit. “I never want it to happen for real.”
Nino wasn’t sure what ‘it’ was, but it couldn’t be good. He know how bad some of Sandboy’s nightmares were—getting chased by his own fear of absolute failure being voiced by his idols still stung to this day.
“Hey, if it tries to, you got us—me, my bro, your bestie and let’s not forget Miss “I am the storm” will be there.”
“And Kagami!” Alya added with a grin as she came over with his bro. “She’s already claimed the right to destroy anyone that hurts you.”
Adrien’s grin may as well have split his face. She has, hasn’t she.”
Marinette turned to fight with Adrien, as something was going on between those two, Adrien clearly had an idea what it was, but given the whole thing with Luka’s fans getting on her back about using him to get famous and the fall out…
Nino shook his head to banish that particular akuma—fans are the worst kind of akuma. Love akuma are really annoying in their abilities, but he can defend against all of their power-sets so far. Fan akumas are always wildcards and he’s usually not the most helpful against them.
He hopes he can keep Ladybug and Marinette safe. His job is to defend and shelter—in and out of the mask. That’s what he’s decided to do, at least.
“Aw, look at them. Now if only they were like this back when operations secret garden was a go.”
Nino raised an eyebrow.
“Nothing you need to worry about, before we got together.”
“Uh huh.” Nino could and would worry about it. Was that a ‘get them together’ operation or a ‘teach Adrien and Marinette how to be people and no run from the sight of each other’ operation? First year ops outside of the mask were weird and he wasn’t in on them until a few months after he and Alya finally got together (at his best bro and favorite dudette’s brand of meddling).
--
Adrien is glad for many things since getting the ring. One of them is his partner and after finding out who she was (post-‘oh my god she hates me as a civilian’ episode), her brand of scheming. Which included (after he got her to conceded that his father may be bad but he is not Hawkmoth level bad) her managing to end up as his Father’s current ‘mentee’ of choice after she won the hat competition, and he showed off the scarf she made him last year. Gabriel had a rule of not working with designers that hadn’t made a name for themselves already—Marinette had by the time she was fourteen as MDC—Jagged Stone and Clara Nightengale’s joint-custody personal designers.
Father only found out MDC was Marinette from the scarf. He’d met Clara again at an event and she had the same style of embroidery and threading. Only it was after Adrien got his scarf.
Marinette plotted this--down to the fashion week event and Clara going to talk to Gabriel about his opinion on the work done to her scarf and how long he thought it would take MDC to make the same thing on a dress, roughly, since the designer does the embroidery by hand instead of letting Clara’s seamstress handle it given the intricate lace-like pattern.
Gabriel had called Marinette on the landline—the landline—that night and offered to mentor her on how to broaden her work for the masses, without taking away from her school and downtime, or interfering with MDC’s work.
So far, Marinette has gathered them a pool of seventy two people, name and contact information, that Markov, Max and Alya are co-investigating as Hawkmoth.
The trade off to all of that is “Marinette” brand consultation under the Gabriel brand, a studio with walk-in and appointed consultations, and being there on time.
Adrien managed to get them there a half hour early, and she still wasn’t relaxed. The unofficial appointment is in twenty minutes, and Marinette is shaken from Sandboy, but doesn’t want to talk about anything Miraculous, and he hasn’t had time for videogames lately, so. Distraction time.
“How did you get into fashion again?” Adrien toyed with his phone, knowing damn well how she ended up this far into fashion, but he did love watching her get worked up and go off.
“First of all, this industry doesn’t make anything for you if you’re short that isn’t petite, and that’s a nightmare to look for as a kid. Then there was Maman having trouble finding things that fit her nicely and from there looking for women’s or girls clothes is just disappointment after disappointment.”
“How so?” Adrien hid his grin behind his phone.
“How—how so! Your father keeps wanting me to keep pockets out of designs because real pockets aren’t ‘in’ for women’s fashion. Lies! They are always in, women always want pockets and real pockets! Pockets are wonderful and the deeper the better.”
“Mh hm.” Adrien knew that from previous rant sessions.
“Then there’s the whole lack of body types and fits and don’t get me started on every white shirt being seem through, or a button up that doesn’t button right, or both. There is a reason why I make clothes for Mylene and her mom since I started doing commissions in the first place, and that is only one of them!”
Adrien leaned forward then. “So anything else?”
“Fix the sizing system already—using measurements that we already use when getting clothes online for conversion charts, only no ‘small, medium, large’ just the amount of fabric at each measurement and a rough of how it fits on different sizes where from there!”
Adrien checked the time. Ten minutes to, and this guy sounded like the early type.
“Alright, better now?”
Marinette blinked a few times, rage vanishing as she processed what happened. “… yes.”
“Good, feel ready to work out a rough?”
Marinette smirked. “They won’t know what hit them!”
--
Tim walked in and decided this candidate was high on his personal choice of who he’s like to be baby bat. The girl had cookies at the ready with coffee (real coffee, making her much better than Marie Ann) and didn’t bat an eyelash at the Wayne name. So either cool under pressure, or doesn’t care for celebrity status, either way a bonus in his books.
Then came how she just… had that same look Bruce gets when working out one of Riddler’s puzzles, only while she was working out a suit for him. She was just in charge of the design portion—Gabriel assured him he’d check over the whole thing and handle production and all. But this suit she worked out in minutes—even grumbling about making sure his pockets were at easy access level for him to grab his phone in case of emergencies and checking over his phone to shape the pocket and cut with that in mind—he likes it.
Given her features, she wouldn’t be out of place in the family—blue eyes and black hair for the win once again. And she clearly understood professionalism, even if she was being monitored by Gabriel’s son who seemed content to let her operate without asking any questions beyond asking him if he had any fabrics he didn’t want or any skin sensitivities.
Her measurement taking was faster than he was used to with tailors, and she admitted it was a double check and checking the fits he already uses to further incorporate it into the design.
No matter how this pans out, he’s decided he’s keeping her on as a designer at the very least. And that Janet’s DNA test comes back negative. This Marinette is his new favorite pick, and she wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, she already wears her hair like Ladybug and turned that into a casual nickname, so extra bonus on secret identity keeping cred if she is.
Now he just needs to find out if she really is and then drop the bomb on her while working out if she’s undercover working Gabriel/Hawkmoth, or not. If she is, damn. If not, he’s giving her ‘spot the bad guy’ lessons, price—one cup of coffee.

Once Upon A Miraculous - Part 1
Okay so this prompt got away from me and now you all get a two parter. Yay me,😭😭😭
Also you guys are freaking amazing because I was not expecting the responses I got from everyone on my preview post. Especially since all I said was “hey I got a new story who wants to hear it”.
This is for @pepelachanel for the story idea. Oh my goodness, the brain worm you gave me have led me to write over 3,400 words of Jasonette goodness. And angst. Sorry for that.
I hope this is enjoyable.
Next Masterpost list
————————————
“Dan?” She asked the car with the plate that matched the ones on her Uber App.
“Marinette?” The man asked. He got out of the vehicle and opened the trunk for her bags when she nodded.
“Welcome to Gotham,” he said when they were both back in the car. “Is this your first time to the city?”
“No, I’ve been here before, a few years ago.” Marinette said looking out the window at the buildings they passed.
“What brings you back then, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“I’m on my way to school in New York and I just thought I’d stop and see an old friend.”
“You’re close with this friend?”
“I was, but he died a couple years ago.”
“I’m sorry for your loss,” he said apologetically.
“Thank you. I wasn’t able to come for his funeral.” She smiled sadly, “This is the first time I’ve been able to come and properly pay my respects.”
They grew quiet as the driver continued to navigate the traffic in Gotham and Marinette’s thoughts drifted to that long ago summer.
*************************************
Marinette was 15 years old the first time she went to Gotham. She came at the request of Jagged Stone to work as his costume designer for his American tour. Marinette’s parents had agreed when Sabine’s old roommate from University had agreed to act as Marinette’s chaperone.
Selina Kyle was impressed by the girls creative mind. Everywhere they went the girl brought a sketchbook and she was drawing every time she had a chance.
They were at the Wayne building as Selina had set a lunch date with her fiancé and they had agreed to pick up the man and his son there. Marinette was sitting in the downstairs lobby where she could see the stained glass over the entrance doors while she waited for Selina to collect the men.
“What are you drawing?”
Marinette jumped at the voice but looked at the speaker. He was a big man? Boy? He looked about her age really so boy was probably right. He had a large build, about the size of her classmate Ivan. The same black hair too, but his eyes were blue like her own.
“A dress design,” Marinette answered looking back at the beginning sketch on the page.
“You’re a designer?”
“Yes. I mostly work on commission right now but I do some designing for myself.”
The boy nodded and looked from the sketch up to the windows she had used as inspiration. “That’s pretty cool. I’ve walked past these windows a lot and never seen them this way before.”
“Most of the world does,” Marinette says, “I’ve just trained myself to look at the things we mostly take for granted in new ways for inspiration .”
“Are you waiting for someone?”
“My guardian. We’re going to lunch with her fiancé and his son.”
The boy’s face brightened as he smiled, “You must be Marinette then.”
Marinette was surprised and it showed on her face.
He laughed, “I’m Jason Todd-Wayne. My father Bruce is Selina’s fiancé.”
“I didn’t say her name.” Marinette argued.
“My dad knows everyone that works for him and if someone else had gotten engaged we would know about it.”
“Marinette, Jason! I see you’ve already met. Are you ready to go?” Selina asked as she walked up to them with a man behind her.
**
During her time in Gotham Marinette ended up spending most of her free time with Jason. As he was on summer break as well he helped her when she needed to do work for Jagged and attended the concerts with her as her assistant.
They grew close, sharing jokes and stories. He showed her around the town and all the best places to go. He shared how he was an outcast in school for being a former street kid thrown into the world of the prestigious upper crust elite. Marinette shared how she was an outcast because of a liar who turned all her friends and the entire class against her. It was one of the main reason’s her parents had even agreed to let her go on tour with Jagged and Selina.
It was a week before her return to Paris that he kissed her for the first time. They spent the last week together going on dates and spending as much time together as they could.
Before she got on the plane to take her back to Paris he gave her a small wrapped package and said to hold onto it until he told her to open it. She agreed and placed it in her bag before kissing him and getting on the plane. She waved to him from the end of the flyway (the goof had purchased a ticket just so he could walk her to the gate but Bruce had refused to actually let him fly off to Paris).
Once home Marinette settled in. She took the box and placed it on a shelf above her designing area.
Then a crash outside had her transforming and running off to fight yet another Akuma.
**
The next day at school Marinette found out that some of the American news agencies had gotten pictures of her and Jason together. Many were from when they were just friends but a couple were taken after their kiss.
Her so called ‘friends’ jumped her when she entered the classroom asking when she had gone to America, why didn’t she tell them, could she introduce the Waynes to them?
Marinette ignored them, pushed through the crowd and took the seat in the back of the class. She pulled out her phone and sent a message and waited for his response.
Marinette jumped when hands slammed on her desk.
“Girl, why are you ignoring us. That’s not being a very good friend,” Alya said.
“We’re not,” Marinette answered.
“We’re not?” Alya looked confused by the words. “Not what?”
“We’re not friends,” Marinette said standing from her seat. “I haven’t heard from any of you in months. Not one of you sent me a message at any point while I was abroad. But even before that none of you talked with me, or have hung out with me in months. If that’s how you treat friends then I want no part of it.”
The class looked away from her, ashamed of how they had treated one of the kindest girls in the class.
Marinette took her seat as the teacher came into the class and the lesson began.
**
That exchange set the tone for the rest of the school year. A few, Nathaniel, Rose and Juleka, had apologized and did their best to rebuild their friendship with Marinette. They did get to meet Jason during one of his trips to Paris with Bruce when he came for business.
He wasn’t thrilled that Marinette had forgiven their treatment of her but was glad they were showing true remorse over it. They continued to talk or message daily with an occasional visit back and forth for the rest of the year.
**
It was a bright and sunny Saturday morning when
Marinette saw Bruce again.
“Mr Wayne, come in we weren’t expecting you were we?” She asked when she found the man at the door. He looked a mess but she didn’t want to be rude and mention it. “Did Jason come with you?”
He flinched at her question.
Marinette stilled at the unusual reaction.
“I. There.” He stopped and swallowed harshly. “There was an attack. The Joker, he took Jason.”
Marinette gasped, “is he okay? Was he hurt?”
Bruce shook his head, “I’m sorry Marinette. He didn’t make it.”
Her vision clouded over as tears filled her eyes and she dropped to her knees and cried.
Bruce pulled her into a clumsy embrace as he cried with her and just repeated “I’m sorry” over and over again.
The funeral was a week later. Bruce had offered to fly her to Gotham for the service but Marinette had to turn it down. The fights with Hawkmoth’s Akuma’s had increased and she and Chat Noir were fighting them on a near daily basis.
At 16 she grieved for a life, a love, a dream lost too soon.
***************************
Marinette accepted Adrian’s proposal. They had been dating for about six months at that point and she wanted to move on with her life. She couldn’t keep it on hold over a memory of a boy who would talk stained glass windows with her.
She took that old, little box, still in its wrapping and placed it in a drawer where she could keep all the memories it held with it.
Ladybug and Chat Noir had been fighting for four years by that time. It was a long battle but they were beginning to make headway. They had clues now, a new AkumaApp was produced that allowed the citizens of Paris to report when they saw the black butterfly’s. Using that information and the information provided by the Akuma victim’s themselves they were narrowing down the location of Hawkmoth's lair.
Soon they would have enough information to find the villain.
She was 18 years old.
****************************
Hawkmoth was unmasked and Gabriel Agreste was arrested.
Emilie Agreste was found in a coma under the house. Life support was stopped and she was pronounced dead five minutes later.
The first few months post Hawkmoth’s reveal, Adrian and Marinette worked to keep his company from folding due to the negative press while Marinette tried to keep Adrian from falling apart from losing both his parents the way he had.
Once things were beginning to settle and the company was evening out Adrian asked for a divorce. He wanted to end their marriage because there was someone else, someone he had promised himself he’d pursue if he ever had a chance.
Marinette moved back with her parents in the apartment over the bakery. Two days later Chat Noir and Ladybug met on top of the Eiffel Tower to say their final goodbyes. Back where their partnership had really begun with Ladybugs declaration that they would defeat Hawkmoth.
When Adrian revealed himself, Ladybug took the ring of the black cat and said she’d never agree to date someone like him.
Marinette was 19 years old.
****************************
“We’re here miss,” the driver said as he pulled up in front of the gates to Wayne Manor.
Marinette leaned out the window to press the call button on the gate box.
“Can I help you?” The voice not the other side asked.
“Oui, monsieur. Is Monsieur Wayne home?”
“He is out at the moment. Is he expecting you?”
“No, my name is Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. This was a rather impromptu trip I decided to make at the last minute. Perhaps you could help me. Would you be able to tell me in which cemetery Jason Todd was buried?”
Marinette was worried she wouldn’t get an answer when silence followed her question.
“Please drive up to the house.”
The gates opened and the car drove up. At the house the doors were opened by an elderly gentleman who walked to the car and opened the door for Marinette when they stopped.
“I am Alfred Pennyworth. We did not get to meet when you were last in Gotham Miss, but I did hear a great deal about you from Master Jason.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you monsieur Pennyworth, Jason had a great many things to say about you.”
“Do you have your things with you?”
“Just the bag in the trunk,” Marinette admitted.
Alfred went around and when the driver opened the trunk he picked up her bag.
“This way Miss Marinette.”
Marinette gave the driver a quick thank you before she followed Alfred into the house. He placed her bag down in the entryway, “I’ll make up a room for your stay and bring the bag up in a moment. Follow me please.”
“Oh, that’s okay I have a room at the Comfort Inn monsieur. I didn’t expect monsieur Wayne to put me up. I just came because I was never told where Jason was laid to rest and I was hoping someone could tell me.”
“The grave stone is in the Wayne family cemetery on the grounds Miss Marinette. It will be no trouble to give you a room for your stay. If you still insist after seeing Master Wayne and the others I will, of course, understand and drive you to your hotel myself.”
“Merci monsieur Pennyworth.”
“You may call me Alfred Miss Marinette,” he said with a kindly smile.
“Merci monsieur Alfred,” Marinette returned the smile as she followed him into what looked like an office.
Marinette was confused when Alfred walked to a grandfather clock and opened the glass door to move the hands on the face. She was startled when the wall next to the clock opened up to reveal a hidden door.
“Welcome to Wayne Manor Miss Marinette,” Alfred said and walked inside and down the stone steps.
Marinette considered it for a moment, the man could be leading her somewhere where he could kill her without risking her alerting someone after all, but everything she had heard about Alfred from Jason had said he wasn’t that kind of person.
Of course this man could be an imposter, she thought to herself as she followed him down the stairs. But well, cats weren’t the only ones that curiosity killed.
At the bottom of the stairs the room opened up into a large underground cave. The space to her immediate right was filled with glass cases each with an empty mannequin inside. A second row above had cases with costumed mannequins inside. They were various costumes worn by Gotham’s Dark Knight and his partners.
To the left was a large computer and various machines that would have been at home in a police forensics lab. In the center was an open space with a couple vehicles parked. The open spaces between the bike and cars could have been held for additional vehicles.
On the far side of the parking space was a giant coin and a dinosaur. Around the base of the dinosaur were a variety of cases that held other mementos from past battles.
“The family should be home soon. Would you like some tea while we wait?”
Marinette looked at the elderly man in surprise. Looked around the cave. And looked at the man again. She mutely nodded her head in acceptance.
After taking the offered cup, Marinette sipped it before asking the question she’d wanted to since she’d seen the insignia on one of the costumes.
“Monsieur Wayne is the Batman?”
“He is.”
“Was Jason... Did Jason die because he was a Robin?”
Alfred closed his eyes in grief, “he did. Joker got a hold of him. He tortured Master Jason before leaving him locked in a warehouse with a live bomb. Master Bruce was unable to make it in time to save him.”
Marinette paled at Alfred’s words. Though she teared up at the pain he must have gone through she was sure that Jason would have been a hero even if he had known what would happen to him. He’d had that edge of protectiveness he’d developed as a street kid when the younger kids were being harassed or bullied by older kids. He was a hero to the core. In or out of costume.
Marinette sniffled as Alfred poured fresh tea into her cup to give her a moment to collect herself.
“I do believe we’ll have a full house this evening,” he said to distract her. “Master Dick is in town following an arms dealer from Bludhaven. Master Jason is assisting him and Master Damian has insisted on helping as well.”
“I’ve heard about Dick from Jason. He was monsieur Wayne’s ward, a son to him yes? But the other’s I’ve never heard of.”
“Yes Master Dick was Master Bruce’s ward and son. Master Timothy was in a similar situation, when his parents died a few years ago Master Bruce took him in and later adopted him. Master Damian however is Master Bruce’s biological son. He came to us about a year and a half ago. He was almost as wild as Master Jason when he first came to us.”
Marinette giggled. Jason had told her about what a little shit he had been when he first came to the Wayne house. He had been convinced that Bruce was some kind of pedophile and had adopted him as some attempt to get a living sex toy. Jason had decided if that was the old man’s game he’d have another think coming to him.
It took a couple of months before Bruce and Alfred were able to convince the former street kid that that was not the reason why they took Jason off the streets. Of course that was not before Jason had managed to set every alarm and clock in the house to go off at noon everyday or change the passwords to every electronic device to Batmansucks****!
“That must have been an adventure,” Marinette offered.
“Quite,” the man said.
The quiet after they settled to their thoughts was broken by the roar of a motorcycle.
A man in a black costume with a blue bird insignia across the chest was the first to arrive.
“Alfred, I didn’t know we’d have a guest?” He looked at Marinette curiously.
“Master Dick this is Miss Marinette,” Alfred said by way of introduction.
He looked at the older man curiously, “I haven’t heard of a Marinette before. Sorry,” he apologized to her when he realized he was talking about her in front of her.
Marinette shook her head in dismissal, “I wouldn’t expect monsieur Wayne to have any reason to talk about me so I understand that you wouldn’t know of me.”
Before they could say anything else two more bikes and the batmobile pulled into the cave.
“Master Bruce, Master Tim, Master Damian, Miss Cassie,” Alfred called as they got off bikes and out of the car, “come greet Miss Marinette.”
Tim looked to be average height, about an inch or two shorter than Dick. Both had black hair and their eyes were hidden by the domino masks.
The girl looked to be closer to Marinette’s height but taller than Marinette herself, so probably average for a woman at 5’4 or so. She too had black hair and a mask.
The youngest looked to be no more than a child. Marinette would eat her hat if he was older than 12. Again he had black hair though it was hard to see and his eyes were hidden in the shadow of his hood as well as by a mask.
The Batman, one billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, was the tallest and walked up to her.
“I didn’t realize you were coming,” he said as he removed the cowl hiding his features, “or that you knew our secret.”
“I didn’t know until Monsieur Alfred brought me down. I made a last minute decision to come visit Jason’s grave before I go to New York for the new school term.”
She didn’t miss the way Dick and Tim stiffened at the mention of the grave but didn’t know why. Did they not want strangers to go to the cemetery? Alfred had mentioned it was a family cemetery. Surely they could allow her a few moments to pay her respects?
“Mmm,” he hummed in acknowledgement.
“I believe I made my opinion clear on the matter years ago Master Bruce,” Alfred said. As he left the cave he said over his shoulder, “Now you may handle this yourselves.”
Marinette watched him go with a frown but another engine coming into the cave drew her attention.
The man getting off was the biggest of all the Bat themed heroes, even Batman. He wore a leather jacket and a red helmet. He removed the helmet as he walked to where everyone was gathered by the computer but stopped when he saw everyone sitting there.
When no one moved, Marinette stood and walked to the new person. “Hi. Monsieur Alfred introduced the others but I haven’t gotten your name yet. I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” she held out her hand for him to shake.
The man’s jaw worked as he looked to be trying to find the right words.
He finally settled for removing the mask he wore under the helmet. Marinette gasped her eyes going wide and her hands covering her mouth.
“It’s me Nettie. I’m alive.”
At 20 years old Marinette’s dreams, her love, was brought back to life.

new beginnings and starting over || chapter one
Read it on Ao3 || next
The night they met, he asked her what her biggest secret is. The music was drumming in their ears and it seems that the most it would be willing to allow is them to know only the other’s name, yet she heard his 4th question loud and clear like he just used a speaker in the middle of a desert.
“What’s your biggest secret?” he asked groggily, complimented with a cockiness in his eyes and a half-drunk smile on his lips that told Marinette that he wanted someone to ask him the same thing. Like he came here to escape. That wouldn’t be exactly new. Many people go to bars either to have fun or to just pretend like the outside world didn’t exist even for a little while.
What startled Marinette, though, is that it was a-seemingly-newly-returned-from-college-in-the-States Adrien Agreste in front of her. The supermodel son of fashion giant Gabriel Agreste, and an overall seemingly perfect person, with his many privileges Marinette couldn’t dare to fathom, his education, his connections, and the complex simplicity of his charming smile that reaches up to his eyes even if the corners of his lips are barely pulled up. One look at him, and you’d think that you’d just laid your eyes on the most beautiful man on the planet, and you’d feel guilty and look away because it felt illegal to see Adonis himself on the mortal world. It wasn’t just his physical appearance that makes him attractive; his natural and genuine charisma that shines through is what makes him a living god to some.
But right now, in a not very five-star bar, Marinette sat across a very human, very vulnerable Adrien Agreste.
“Wh-what?” she asked him.
He took a sip of his drink, turned to her, and asked her again. “What’s your biggest secret?”
Marinette collected herself, thinking. “Huh, I don’t really know, if I’m being honest.” She knew perfectly well what her answer is. It’s been the same one for more than five years. But even that is too big just to share to anyone. Even if it is the son of her idol. “Um, I trace my previous designs for my projects sometimes. So I’m basically plagiarizing from myself,” she added.
Adrien chuckled. “Come on, you have to tell me something bigger than that.” There it is again. That damned smile that makes both girls and boys weak in the knees, and if Marinette wasn’t sitting right now, she most definitely would’ve buckled the first sentence into their conversation.
“Hey cut me some slack, it’s been a long day,” she replied. “What about you, huh? What’s Mr. Model’s biggest secret?”
“Sometimes I wish I wasn’t living my life,” he said quickly and took a sip. He said it way too quickly for Marinette’s liking. The smile on her face dropped just as quickly, too.
“Well now I feel guilty for saying my answer,” she replied, trying to light up the mood. It didn’t seem to work to the extent that she wanted it to, as Adrien just looked at her and lifted the corner of his mouth slightly. Marinette shifted in her seat. “Alright, my turn to ask a question. What is something you’re grateful about?”
That made him think. What in his life is he truly grateful about? His soulless luxury apartment? His easy passes in events he doesn’t want to go to? His travels for work? Yeah, sure. All great things, don’t get him wrong. He knows some would kill for the things that he has, and he’s grateful for them, truly. But Adrien isn’t exactly the materialistic type. He craves the more abstract things like experience, intellect, and love. Romantic, platonic, familial, it doesn’t matter. Love, as intense and playful as it is, is love. And when you’re loved, you’re cared for, and you’re supported, and you’re not ignored.
“I guess, I’d say that I’m grateful for her,” Adrien finally answered.
So, someone had finally stolen the heart of Paris’ most eligible bachelor. To say it didn’t hurt Marinette even a little, would be to lie. Hey, you can’t really blame her. When someone as dedicated and passionate about fashion that they spend hours and hours on end looking at magazines and Adrien’s face popping up in almost everyone of them, it’s basically impossible to not develop even a slight crush on him.
“Well, if you weren’t living your life right now, then you wouldn’t have met her.” She had no idea who the girl Adrien is even talking about, but the way he referred to her in that single sentence as if he’d risk his life for her said everything that Marinette needed to know.
Adrien just looked at her strangely. Marinette couldn’t exactly tell what he’s feeling, but she knows that the gears in his head are turning. She can see it in his furrowed brows, tiny frown, and concentrated gaze alone. She waited for him, still.
“Good point,” was all he said and took another sip of his drink.
For a few seconds, there was an uncomfortable silence lingering in the thin air of the crowded bar. Marinette let her eyes wander around those few seconds looking for her friend, until settling on the blond boy sitting next to her again. Like before, her gaze is caught in the trap of Adrien’s enticing aura.
“You know everyone feels that way from time to time,” she starts, unable to stand the silence any longer. “Sometimes for a long time, sometimes for just a millisecond. But that doesn’t make them any less irrelevant. My advice, think of all the bad things-“
“How is that going to help?” Adrien interrupted, a little harsher than he intended.
Marinette just gave him a look and continued. “Think of all the bad things. Let yourself feel them. Get to know them, then think of the good things. Let yourself feel those too. And think. Then you’d realize that you never would have experienced all the best memories that you have if you hadn’t experienced all the terrible and painful ones too and if you aren’t living the life you’re living now.“ She leaned away from him and looked at her drink. “At least, that’s what I do,” she said, more quietly.
Another silence. But this time, Adrien’s focus was solely on the girl next to her and not his drink. Out of all the things he expected from going to drink in a very public place instead of in his apartment, he did not expect to get a taste of free therapy. But hey, with how things are going in his life, he’ll take it with open arms. The only thing is, is that now he doesn’t know how to respond. “Thanks,” was his genius reply. “So ummm, what’d you wanna do after college?”
“Hmm?” Marinette looks at him surprised that he still wanted to talk to her. “Oh, um, I’m hoping to work in the fashion industry, actually,” finally processing what he said. “You?”
“I don’t know yet, surprisingly.” Adrien just shrugs. He doesn’t know, truly. Even with all the opportunities already in his plate served with an elegant plating, he doesn’t feel like he could follow through any of them. He’s already in business school, preparing to success his father, and mainly just to please him even despite their oh so loving relationship they have where they only talk when it’s for business. Modeling, he grew to love over time, being his excuse to be as far away from his father as he could from time to time. And as for him being Chat Noir, well, he knows that it’s not a lifetime thing, and he already messed that up.
He hasn’t been Chat Noir in almost three years. He had transformed from time to time, but never the same-old Chat Noir fighting side by side with Ladybug. Hell, even that, he screwed up in when he spent his last 2 weeks and 4 days of being in Paris as Chat Blanc fighting against Ladybug. But now, being back home, if could even claim it that, he’s determined to make things right again with Ladybug. He just needs a little bit more push from alcohol tonight before he does anything stupid in the days that he’s here.
Before Marinette could say something back, someone tapped on her shoulder. They both look back to see a boy in a simple blue t-shirt and headphones around his neck. With him, was a very drunk and giggling Alya that he’s struggling to hold up. “Hey, Marinette? Sorry to disturb you, but I think it’s time for Alya to go home, she already threw up twice in the restroom.” So that was where she was.
“Yeah, I better go take Alya home. Thanks Nino,” she said and turned to Adrien. “I guess this is goodbye for now, huh?”
“I guess so,” was all he said and gave her one of his dashing smiles. “Thanks, again, for the talk. I hope to see you again sometime.”
Marinette just returned his smiled and left carrying a delirious Alya. On her way out, she heard the two boys they left conversing.
“Oh. Uh, hey dude! I’m Nino.” He smiled and introduced himself when he noticed Adrien.
“Hi, I’m Adrien,” he said with his bright smile.

Two Cats, One Heart (Chat Noir x Reader)
Summary: Y/n Ross and Adrian Agreste are childhood best friends, they've been through thick and thin, including losing their mom, and dad. Since then Y/n's mom made her live with Adrian at his mansion and forever leaving her life. Watch as their lives Change as they become the new heroes of Paris alongside Ladybug and see how Romance sprouts between the two models.
Part 1
{Y/n' POV}
Adrian and I were running down the street of our house trying to get to school on time. Why are we running to school in a rush when we could just take our personal driver? You may ask? Well, we aren't really allowed to attend school, so we snuck out of the mansion together with all our supplies and bags. We saw the School entrance and smiled at each other before starting to slow down and walk-in. "Adrien, Y/n, please reconsider! You know what your father and godfather want!" "This is what we wanna do!" Adrian said as I nodded and continued walking before we saw an old man lying on the road reaching for his crane. Adrian and I looked at each other and nodded before we took both sides of the old man and helped him up as I picked up his crane and gave it to him. "Thank you, young man and women" we smiled back at the old man before turning back to Natalie. "We just wanna go to school like everybody else. What's so wrong with that? " I said sadly. "Please don't tell my father about this" Adrian said as we sadly walked into the car and drove back to the Mansion we were imprisoned in. Unknown to us the old man we helped before stood in front of the mansion as we went in for our homeschool class, with two boxes that would change our entire lives. Adrian and I were in the middle of Natalie's history lesson as we listened to while we were still bummed out about the whole not going to school thing. "Who was the first president of the 5th French Republic?" "Everyone thinks it was de Gaulle, " Adrian started bored. "but it was actually René Coty before the first elections" I finished off for him. "excellent Adrian, Y/n" I sighed as I saw my godfather aka Adrian's dad Mr.Agreste come in. "Give me a minute, would you, Nathalie?" Natalie nodded at Mr.Agreste. "yes, sir" Natalie left leaving Adrian and me with Mr.Agreste. "You are both NOT going to school. I already told you two" Adrian and I stood up in protest. "but father/Sir!" "Everything you both need is right here where I can keep an eye on you two. I will not have you both outside in that dangerous world." "It's not dangerous, father. We're always stuck in here with nothing but each other and sometimes we can't even see each other. Why can't we go on and live life just like everybody else?" " Adrian said. "Because you are not like everyone else! You are my son and goddaughter! Continue." Mr.Agreste left as Natalie came back. "We can leave it there if you have-" before she could finish Adrian and I ran back to our rooms, as tears rolled down my cheeks" "It isn't fair!" I yelled at myself as soon as I shut my door and threw myself on the couch. "why can't we live our lives as teens?" I wiped my tears before I turned on the TV not noticing the box right in front of me on the desk. "As incredible as it seems, it's been confirmed that Paris is indeed being attacked by a supervillain. The police have been struggling to keep the situation under control" I gasped at the news. "Super Villain?" After a second I noticed a strange black box on the desk in front of me. "huh? What's this doing here?" I opened the box as a grey light came out of it making me look away and drop the box to shield my eyes. "hey!" I looked at where the greeting came from to see...a grey floating fox?!?
I was about to scream before it flew quickly at me and covered my mouth. " Don't freak out! Please! I have had enough of new holders screaming whenever seeing me for the first time!" I nodded and grabbed the little grey fox and moved it away from my face. "so, are you like a genie? Do you grant wishes? Or are you just some small animal trapped in a-" I looked at the box to see a silver bracelet with a silver paw print in the middle. "really pretty bracelet." "I met him once, so what if he grants wishes, big bore. I'm way better than that guy" I looked at the little fox shook. "a genie... Exists?!" "so your surprised that exists but not questioning mines? Wow, I'm totally not offended" I chuckled nervously while I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly. "Sorry, it's just I read a lot of fairy tales of Genies, I never knew it really did it existed" "yeah yeah, whatever. Anyways the names Alpha" "I'm-" "Y/n, I know" "How did you know-" "I'm your kwami, of course, I would know your name" "What's a kwami?" I sat back down as Alpha stood floating in front of me. "A kwami is an ancient creature that grants the holder a special power, yours is the power of balance, you balance the power of destruction and creation, making sure there aren't too much of either of them." "what can I do, specifically?" "well, you wield a staff that can split into two like the ring miraculous and can take form into any weapon you like, except you have a different special ability called moon wolf when you say the word you can go invisible for 30 seconds only." "cool!" "but! There's a downside." "bad downside or is it not that bad?" I nervously said scared I might get severely ill or maybe I might get super tired every transformation. " it's not that bad, it's just you got five minutes until you detransform after using your special ability" "oh...thats not that bad I guess" I picked up the box and took out the silver bracelet and placed it on.
"So how does this work?"
"This is your miraculous, the grey fox miraculous. Using this would change you in to your superhero outfit complete with a mask and all that pizazz"
"Cool, how do I do that?"
"Just say, "Alpha, Tails out" then bam superhero"
"Okay, Alpha!-" Alpha covered my mouth again.
"Wait! before you do that, you need a hero name"
"right, but what should I name for myself"
"how about Lady Fox, like the last holder?"
"Lady Fox? I like the sound of that"
"Okay, now you can transform"
"Great! Alpha! Tails Out!" After I transformed I looked at my body mirror in awe.
"Now to test it out" I opened my window and looked around to see if anyone's watching before I hopped off and started jump building to building. I then saw a girl in a ladybug patterned suit as well as a boy in a black leather suit, both of them in masks. tied up in a yoyo string. I smirked as I stealthy walked over to them. "I'm guessing you two are my new teammates? they looked at me surprised. the red suit girl seemed nervous while the boy looked at me excited.
"can you help us, g-get untied?" the girl asked. I nodded and pulled the tip of the string letting them free as they fell down. The cat boy came up to me and kissed my hand to which I blushed before I hid it and took back my hand.
"Thanks, umm"
"Lady Fox, you?"
"Chat Noir, at your service M'lady" he bowed. So he's a flirty gentleman, I'll have to watch my back with him.
"I'm Ma... err... Mar... uhh..." The red suit girl pulled on her yoyo before it landed on Chat's head making me giggle as she looked at him apologetically. " Madly Clumsy. I'm so clumsy."
"No sweat, clumsy girl. We're learning the ropes too." I nodded to Chat's reply.
"We can't be perfect at anything first try, right?" The ground began to tremble as we saw a building fall from afar. Chat and I nodded as we used out staffs to get up the building nearby from the ground.
" Hey! Where are you two going?"
"To save Paris, right?" I yelled back before Chat and I continued running. When we got to the source of the noise we saw the stone monster chasing a guy before the guy tripped. Chat extended his staff stopping the stone monster from reaching the guy. I used my staff to land next to the guy.
"Come on" I grabbed his arm and helped him up as I swung him to safety.
"Who are you?" He asked before I winked at him with a grin.
"Lady Fox" Before any more could be said I swung away to join to battle to see stone heart throw a net at a brown-haired girl who seemed to be recording. I gasped as I threw my staff to stop it from hurting her. "Are you okay, miss?" She nodded as she gaped at me in awe. but I soon got grabbed by the stone monster as did Chat as we got squished together. I looked at him with a blush creeping up as he grinned at me awkwardly before we looked away trying to move less so as not to get closer together. Ladybug soon came and used her yoyo to throw Stone monster down getting us freed.
"Animal cruelty? How shameful!" I grinned at Ladybug's reply as I stood next to her next to a net. "Sorry it took so long, Cat Noir, Lady Fox" I nodded and smiled.
" It's cool, Wonderbug. Now, let's kick his rocky behind!" I sighed and grabbed Chat's tail.
"Hold on, kitty. Didn't you just see? he gets bigger and stronger with every attack."
"Lady Fox is right Chat Noir. We have to do something different"
"Different how?" Chat asked as he rubbed his tail.
" Uhhh... I don't know." I thought about a plan while Chat noir decided to get cocky.
"Okay then. Let's use our powers. Cataclysm! Apparently I destroy whatever I touch."
"Chat wait-" I tried to stop him before he touched the net. great, that was his last shot. didn't he listen to his kawami? You only get one shot or time to use special powers.
"Cool. It's just you and me now! Time to rumble, soon-to-be rubble!" I face palmed as I sighed.
"Cat Noir! Wait!" Chat Noir either didn't hear or ignored Ladybug as he leaped and touched the stone monster, thinking he could still use his powers. Seems he finally realized that as he kept touching the stone monster.
"Uh-oh. I guess I only get one shot to use my power." Chat Noir smiled sheepishly before Stone Monster threw him back at us as I quickly got out of the way as he landed on the net.
"And you only have five minutes before you transform back. Didn't your kwami explain anything to you?"
"I guess I was a little excited about my new life."
"Well, up to me. Lucky Charm!" A suit appeared in Ladybug's hands.
"Superpower?"
" My kwami told me I have to break the object where the whatchama-call-it... er, the Akuma is hiding."
"Well, he's made entirely out of stone." Chat's right, he is entirely out of stone, I looked closely before noticing something. but his right hand is always shut. earlier when he took me, he avoided holding me and chat in the same hand, and held us both in his left hand. in fact he's been keeping his left hand to himself the entire time, like a Russian doll.
"His right hand, it's still closed. He never opens it. It's like the Russian dolls. The object isn't on him, it's hidden in his fist!" I exclaimed Ladybug caught on and nodded.
"Lady Fox is right"
"So what's your plan?" Chat asked. I smiled and stepped back for Ladybug to do her thing.
"This." Ladybug grabbed the hose under hoe and tied it to the suit. I looked at her as I soon realized what she was going to do and I nodded as she smiled. I turned my staff into a rope as I used to grab around Chat's legs.
"Don't resist. Trust me." I spun and around and threw chat into the stone monster.
"THIS GIRL'S CRAZY!" Ladybug then ran.
"Catch me if you can!" Ladybug jumped making stone monster drop the item to grab ladybug. "Lady Fox! Now!" I nodded as I used my power.
"Moon Wolf!" I turned invisible so that the stone monster won't be able to try to touch me as I grabbed the item, making it look for it confused as I turned on the tap filling up the suit Ladybug had. letting Ladybug go. Once I was sure she was free, I threw the stone on the groundbreaking it. As we both watched it fly away as the stone monster changed back into a boy, making Chat fall.
"This girl is awesome, Crazy awesome" The broken stone pieces I had in my hand changed back into a paper as I smiled and walked the boy. Chat walked up to me and Ladybug.
"You two were in incredible, Lady Fox, and Miss uh bug lady, you did it!" I shook my head.
"No, We did it"
"Pound it!" We all said with a smile as Chat's ring and my bracelet began to beep.
"You two should get going. Our identities must remain secret."
"Farewell, m'lady. Let's do this again soon, okay?" Chat and I began to run, in the same direction home?
"Um, you live near here?" I said as we made it to my home.
"Uh yeah" Why isn't he moving, doesn't he have to get home.
"um, shouldn't you get home?"
"What about you? I want to make sure you get home alright"
"No need, I-" My bracelet began to beep making me get nervous. I looked around before I thought out an idea. "Bye!" I ran all the way behind the mansion as I heard his footsteps leave. Strange how we ended up in the same place. I looked to make sure if he was gone before I ran back to my window as I heard my door knock as I changed back. I quickly hid Alpha who seemed tired as I sat on the couch casually.
"Come in!" I saw Adrian as I looked at him surprised. he never really came in my room before, after we became models we rarely have time for each other as we did when we were kids, it was like we were purposely being split apart. "Adrian?"
"Hey, Y/n. Long time since I came in here huh?" Adrian smiled as he laughed a bit making me grin.
"Yeah, I missed seeing you a lot. It's like we've grown apart"
"And now I want us to be together"
"What do you mean?"
"I missed you, and I need my best friend again" I smiled as I patted a spot on the couch for him to sit which he did.
"I missed you too, blondie" Adrian chuckled.
"It feels nice to see you call me that again" I smiled teasingly.
"oh you do? pancake?"
"Okay, now I think you're getting a bit carried away with the nicknames"
"How so? Goldie locks?"
"Y/n...." We looked at each other before we both ended up laughing. "This time, nobody is ever going to separte us, not even my father"
"Pinky promise?" I stook out my pinky as he chuckled as he locked his pinky with mine.
"Pinky promise"
"Well, we can start with a sleepover later?" Adrian nodded.
"I'll go get my things" I smiled as he walked out. Alpha came out and tired walked over to me.
"Yyyyy/nnnnn!" He whined as I rolled my eyes.
"Yes?"
"I want brownies"
"I'll get my chef to bring some" I called in a chef with the com installed in my room as he brought the brownies quickly. I thanked him as I closed the door and gave him the brownies as requested. "Happy?"
"Very" I rolled my eyes as I turned on the TV.
"These victims transformed into stone beings are still like statues. The police are perplexed to what will happen to them. Will they come back to life or be frozen in time forever?
I looked at the TV confused. More stone beings? I thought we defeated it.
"Hey Alpha, I thought we were finished with that guy, why is it still going?"
"Did you capture the Akuma?" He said as he munched on a brownie.
" What's capturing the Akuma got to do with the other stone beings?"
"An Akuma can multiply, that's why it must be captured. If the boy's emotions become negative again, then the Akuma will turn him back into Stoneheart! He'll control all the stone beings and bring them to life to serve as his army!"
"Is there anything I can do about it"
"Well usually Ladybug has to do it, but you can too. You can use your staff as a net and catch all of them. but sadly you can't this time. It's all up to Ladybug."
"I can only come in when it's out of hand huh, well i hope Ladybug is up for it too"
"Me too Y/n, Me too"
(A/n: End of part one of Origins! I hope all my miraculous fans like this chapter!)

A Night to Remember
Mention of Lila, Gabriel being a jackass, and of course some cute Marichat.
Ao3
Chapter 13 – The Kitty Apprentice
“What is the meaning of that interview, Adrien?” Gabriel stood at the top of the stairs as Adrien walked through the atrium doors. His usual scowl marked his face while his arms were crossed behind his body.
Adrien mentally sighed and rolled his eyes. “What ever do you mean, Father? I think the interview went well. I presented myself professionally and the media took my side over the relationship conundrum.”
“Do not play coy with me, boy. You know very well which part of the interview I am speaking about.” Gabriel made his way down the stairs. “You spewed hatred against Mlle. Rossi and made a mockery of her in front of millions of viewers!”
“And her reputation had spoken for herself during the akuma when she announced to everyone around her what she did to me and Marinette over the years!”
“Do you think that was necessary? Do you know that she came here and tried to argue your actions and tried to spew more slander against you while you were out gallivanting? Nathalie had to take a moment to escort her off the premises and give a statement to the press that have been staked out since the interview was broadcast, and who also saw the tantrum she displayed as she was escorted out.”
Adrien smirked at the idea of Lila throwing a child-like tantrum before turning back to his father with anger in his eyes. “She deserved it then for lying the way she did. All she did was slander my good name. Do you know what people said to me at school? The looks people gave me on the streets? They called me scum and a cheater. Do you want the face of Gabriel to be known as a cheater? Especially cheating on a sweet and innocent girl like Kagami? What I said needed to be said. She deserved every bit of spew that came out of my mouth.”
“Your disobedience continues to surprise me. All these years of grooming you to be a gentleman, to be poised and professional, and to be the perfect son and model, all for you to throw all that away for someone that stated a little white lie. All of that could be disclosed with a press conference, but you took it a step too far and renounced that girl on the news.”
“What’s done is done. If you want me to give out another statement, then fine, I will. But I’m done with her and her lies.” He stared down his father before walking around him and up the stairs.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Gabriel hissed.
Adrien continued towards his room and responded with a smug tone. “Going to my room. That’s where you send me when your angry with my actions. I just decided to take action and end this conversation myself.”
Gabriel just stood there bewildered over his son’s actions. He was only startled back to reality when Adrien’s door slammed shut. Nathalie, who had been watching from a distance, mirrored Gabriel’s facial expressions before shaking her head and clearing her throat and walking hesitantly towards the frozen man.
“Sir?”
“I’ll be in my office. Only disturb me if it is important.”

Plagg shot out of his chosen’s blazer and curled up on the pillow on the bed. He was staring intently at Adrien, watching him pace the length of the room as he brushed his fingers through his hair.
“Why does he have to act so... so... cold?” Adrien bellowed. “All he ever cares about is his brand. He doesn’t care that I am being harassed as long as the brand isn’t affected by it.”
Adrien stopped his pacing and turned towards Plagg. “I can’t stand being here anymore! Why did I decide to move back here? Why couldn’t I have stayed with Marinette until we finished school? Why did I have to have a heart and hoped that Father would make an effort to change his demeanor after that moment of hostility towards him a few weeks ago? Why do I still care so much!”
The kwami frowned as he watched his charge gesticulate his feelings and shivered when the tears slowly fell from Adrien’s eyes. He floated slowly towards Adrien’s face and nuzzled up against his cheek.
“Why does he hate me so much?” His voice cracked in anguish.
Plagg knew that this lonely boy deserved so much more than what his father could give him. The pain in his chest and the sadness that poured through Adrien’s soul only confirmed it.
“Hey kid. I know things are hard right now. In a few months, you can finally move out on your own. Maybe even room with a friend who’s also heading to university near you. You don’t have to be here forever you know.” Adrien wiped the stray tears that streaked his face with his palm as he nodded at Plagg’s assurance. “Do you want to go out and clear your head?”
“You- You actually want to go out?” Adrien sniffled.
“Kid, I know when you need time to run. I get it. I would want to too if I had a dad like yours, and since you won’t let me cataclysm him, the next best thing is to keep up your rebellion streak tonight and head out while you still can.”
Adrien scratched Plagg in his favorite spot and told him to grab an extra bit of Camembert before he transformed. “I’ll give you a round when we get back.” Plagg purred in delight. “Plagg, claws out!”
-----xoxox-----
Chat Noir leaped across the skies while the shifting wind beat against his cheeks. He had no care in the world of where his destination would take him; all he cared was that he was far enough away from the cold and empty place of the mansion. He catapulted to one balcony and then hopped towards another, bolting left and right as he pushed the anger out of his body with every step he took. He felt like he was running for hours when he finally paused his run on a rooftop to catch his breath. When he looked around to determine where he was, he noticed a familiarity to the location. Peering to the left, he could see a light emanating from a skylight as the twinkle lights from a canopy glowed a yellow hue.
Marinette. He chuckled. Even as he mindlessly ran across the rooftops to clear his head, he still ended up at the home of the one person who could calm him down. If he needed more proof that he was in fact in love with this girl, then he would really have to be an idiot.
He hopped over to her balcony and tapped the glass of the skylight with his clawed finger. A short moment later, the blue-eyed girl pushed up on the glass and smiled sweetly to her visitor. “Chat? What do I owe this pleasure?”
“Princess,” he bowed “this stray cat was taking a rooftop stroll and happened to see you were still awake and I thought maybe she would like some company?” He smirked as he flexed in his usual Chat-like humor. “And maybe a round of Ultimate Mega Strike IV while enjoying some delicious pastries?”
Marinette shook her head as she quietly chuckled. “I’m sorry Chat, but I can’t play a game with you tonight. There is a dance at my school coming up and I have a few dresses I need to finish before then.”
Chat frowned. “I’m sorry, Marinette. I didn’t mean to bother you. I didn’t realize you were busy.” Chat turned around and grabbed his baton to extend it. “I’ll come back another night.”
“Wait!” Marinette reached out to grab onto his tail before he leaped away. He stopped and turned to her, noticing she was pressing her index fingers together as she thought about what she wanted to say next. “I didn’t say you had to leave. I just won’t be able to play video games tonight. I could use the company if you would still like to hang out?”
Chat smiled. “Of course, princess. How can I say no to that?”
Chat shimmied his way down the skylight after Marinette, careful of landing his boots away from her bed in case he still had any lingering dirt on them. He noticed that Marinette already made her way to her desk, grabbed her pincushion bracelet, and made her way over to the mannequin draped in a pink satin fabric. She started to pin up the waist, careful to pin the pleats in a uniformed size. He watched her in awe as she was laser-focused on the task at hand.
She could feel the gaze from the masked cat and an idea crossed her mind. Without looking up, she smirked at him. “If you’re going to stand there and watch me work while keeping me company, I might as well put you to work.” She placed one last pin before heading back to her desk and grabbing a pair of scissors. “I can trust you know how to use these, right?” He nodded. “On the table over there, there is a black pair of pants that I just hemmed. I would like it if you could cut here, here, and here. It doesn’t matter if there are frays; I need to finish the hem work anyways. I just need it to be as straight as possible. Do you think you can handle it?”
“Don’t worry, Marinette, I got this!”
Chat worked diligently on his task while Marinette pinned in the elastic waistband on the dress she was working on. Every so often, Chat would look around to all the almost-finished designs that were spread around the room. A kitty with an attention span of a goldfish would always be curious, so this curious kitty had to ask: “Who are these dresses for and what have you got planned for them?”
Marinette smiled with elation. “The pantsuit you are working on is for Alix. She didn’t want a dress, and I’m glad she didn’t - it just doesn’t fit her personality. The white top beside it goes with it. I just need her to wear it to ensure the fit, and hers is pretty much done. Max is her date and asked for a tie to match. Alya’s is the orange dress hanging up. I just need to finish the stitch work on the bodice and have the final fitting for it. She requested an orange tie for Nino, so that slice of fabric there is for me to work on. The black and purple fabric over there,” she said as she pointed to the folded satin fabric on the table, “is for Juleka – she wants something more form fitting, so that one will be a little more work than everyone’s as I need it to be just right. I’m starting on hers tomorrow. And this one,” Marinette pointed to her mannequin, “is Rose’s. She wants a ball gown inspired dress, but short and bubbly. Right now I’m just bunching up the pleats before I cut the fabric and hem it.”
Chat looked all around him. The designs that she had time to do plus the work already put into was incredible. She was going to be an amazing designer one day. Then a frown claimed his face. Where was her dress?
Marinette saw the concerned look on Chat’s face. “Are you okay, Chat?”
“Where is your dress, Marinette? You must have a date to the dance, don’t you?”
The smile she gave him didn’t reach her eyes. “I don’t have a date yet. I haven’t started on my dress yet either.” She shrugged. “There is someone I hope that would ask me, but I’m not sure if he sees me more than a friend. I mean, he’s been acting sweeter towards me lately, but I don’t know if I’m reading too much into it or not. And I have an idea for a dress, but that can wait until I’m done with everyone’s first.”
Chat internally screams at the thought. Hopefully she means his civilian self. “Well you are pawsitively purrfect, princess. If he doesn’t take you, I will. And I know your dress will come out amazing.” Chat was smiling with a proud look on his face making Marinette snicker before throwing a pillow at his head.
“Thanks, Chat...” a warmth fills her chest that brought a loving smile to her face, “for everything.”

History Repeats: Alya and Jude
This is the piece I did for the @letspouncezine and I’m so happy to get to share it! It takes place in the History Repeats universe where Alya and Nino are married and have a son named Jude. :)
___
“Jude, what are you still doing up?” Alya shuffled into the kitchen with a yawn and made a beeline for the coffee pot. “You’ve got to go to school in the morning.”
“I could ask you the same thing, and I thought you promised Dad that you weren’t going to drink coffee so late anymore,” her son shot back with a superior smirk.
“Your father is a lovely man but he doesn’t understand how much caffeine means to me and my work.” She started a new pot brewing and settled into one of the dining room chairs. “Are you still doing homework?”
“No, not really.” He sat back in his chair with a frown. “You know how tomorrow is Heroes’ Day?”
Alya tried not to smile. “As the administrator of the Miracublog and writer for the Paris Times, I’m familiar with that fact, yes.”
“Yeah, of course. Well, I’ve been wracking my brain to come up with something to do for it and I’ve got nothing, Mom. Nothing.” He laid his head on the table. “I think I’m sick and I can’t go to school tomorrow.”
She reached over and laid a hand on the side of cheek with faux concern. “You do feel like you’ve got a fever. You’ll probably have to miss the movie with your friends this weekend too.”
“Mom.”
“What, you thought I would actually let you skip Heroes’ Day?”
Jude groaned. “You don’t understand. I’m sure Heroes’ Day was like whatever when you were in school, but it’s a big deal now.”
“Oh, believe me, it was a big deal then too. There was a whole lot going on.” Alya went to the cabinet and grabbed her favorite mug, a molded fox with a chipped ear. Nino had gotten it for her when she had to give up Trixx. She felt the familiar ache of loss but shook herself before she could give into the feeling too much.
“Like what?”
Alya thought back on her time as a hero, the wins and losses, the close calls and near misses. She thought about the Heroes’ Day when the team went up against Hawkmoth and were introduced to a new foe that would plague them for years longer. She’d gone through so many years of fighting, but it all felt like another life now. Some days she missed it, but other days she felt intense relief that it was in her past. She poured fresh coffee into her mug and went back to the table. “Do you want to know a secret?”
Jude propped his chin is his hands tiredly. “If it’s that you love me and I’m the apple of your eye, I already know that but thanks.”
“Cute, but so not what I was going to say.” She reached for the pack of cookies sitting open beside his laptop and took one. “You know there were other heroes besides the ones running around today, right?”
“Yeah, I’ve read your blog,” he grinned, taking his own cookie. “Hey! Maybe I can use the blog for something for Heroes’ Day? Like be a guest writer with you?”
She raised an eyebrow. “And who does that help exactly?”
“Well, me with this assignment, for one.”
“Mmhmm.”
“And you! You’re always working so hard to cover news and stuff.” He gave her his most earnest smile.
Alya took a sip of coffee and tried not to laugh. “I’ll think about it. Now do you want to hear my secret or not?”
“Sure.”
She set her mug on the table and leaned in close. “I was one of those heroes.”
Jude took another cookie from the pack. “Sure.”
“I was!”
“You’ll always be a hero to me, Mom.”
Alya narrowed her eyes. “You little punk, I really was. I was Rena Rouge.”
“The fox one?”
“Yes, the fox one!”
He pursed his lips. “You didn’t want to be like Ladybug or Chat Noir or something?”
“Excuse me, but what’s wrong with being Rena Rouge?”
“Carapace and Queen Bee were pretty popular,” he grinned.
“You are too much like your dad,” Alya grumbled. “And I’m slightly impressed that you know everyone’s names.”
“I wasn’t lying when I said I keep up with your blog. You posted that remembering past heroes piece earlier in the week. It was good.”
Alya gave him a fond smile. “I guess going through seventeen hours of labor to bring you into this world was worth it after all.”
“Good to know,” he chuckled. “So you were really Rena Rouge?”
“I really was.” She was surprised at how nonchalantly he took the revelation.
“What was it like?”
“It was…” She trailed off so she could take time to choose her words carefully. “It was one of the most amazing experiences I think I’ll ever have. It was exciting and scary and fun and awful and I wouldn’t trade a single second of it.”
Jude straightened up in his seat and then leaned slightly forward with widened eyes. “You were there when Hawkmoth and Mayura were taken down, right? That even happened on a Heroes’ Day, didn’t it?”
She nodded. “That was a really hard day for a lot of reasons.”
“Wasn’t he the dad of one of your friends or something?”
Alya recalled the look on Chat Noir’s face when Hawkmoth’s transformation finally fell. She remembered what it felt like to conjure a convincing Chat Noir the following days in front of the press so no one realized he was gone. The vivid memory of a broken Adrien returning his ring and telling them he was done flashed in her mind.
“It was a difficult day for all of us,” she finally said. “To be honest, Heroes’ Day is a little bit misleading.”
“What do you mean?”
“I think it’s easy to set aside this one day to do good deeds for others.” She held up a hand. “And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing at all. I think the day is great and I’m really glad that it’s a tradition I’m getting to share with you.”
“But,” he prodded.
“But being a hero is about more than doing something good for someone once. Sometimes it’s about making hard decisions when no one is going to come out unscathed. And sure, as Rena Rouge, I did get attention for a lot of the things I did, but as Alya?” She shook her head. “Sometimes I wanted that same recognition. It can be hard to do the right thing and sometimes it’s harder to do the right thing for the right reasons.”
“But you were a really great hero,” he argued. “I’ve read all about the battles you guys fought. You always saved the day.”
“Yeah, but there were plenty of times I did things selfishly too.” She took a long drink of coffee. “Sorry. I think I’m just feeling emotional with the holiday and everything.”
“Dad would say you’re being too hard on yourself right now.”
She laughed softly. “You’re probably right.”
“But you’re pretty much telling me that for Heroes’ Day, I need to find something to do that isn’t selfish,” Jude concluded. “And also that I have super awesome fox hero DNA.”
“Not exactly how that works,” she winked, “but yeah, being a hero means putting others above yourself and it isn’t always an easy thing to do. But it also means knowing your limits. Everyone has the ability to do good, Jude, they just have to be willing to make the effort to actually do it. It shouldn’t be about a grade or an event.”
“It should be about helping people,” he nodded. He pushed his chair back and stood, grabbing the pack of cookies. “Thanks, Mom. I think I have an idea now.”
Alya held out her hands and Jude rolled his eyes with a smile as he leaned forward to rest his cheeks against her palms. “I love you so much. You know that, right?” She smiled and tucked his long hair behind his ears. She froze when she caught sight of the familiar dark stone earrings in his lobes that her best friend wore long ago. They held each other’s gaze and then Alya let her son’s hair fall back into place and he straightened with a cough.
“I’ll make you proud, Mom,” he promised and quickly turned to leave the room.
“You always have,” she whispered.

The Shortcut Home chapter 12
Chapter 11
ao3 link
Marinette didn’t see Adrien for two days. She got a text from Master Fu that Adrien was in a right state and was staying with him for now. She wanted more than anything than to go to him, squeeze him so tight all his broken pieces would meld back together, but if Adrien needed time…she’d give him that. His entire world just crashed down around him. He more than deserved the right to ride out the emotional fallout in private.
If only Tikki were here. Marinette needed to talk to someone. Everywhere she turned were reminders of their impossible situation.
Monday evening, she traipsed into the living room after a long-ass afternoon with Jagged and his downright eccentric demands. He’d been severely disappointed that she’d be leaving his employment soon. She hardly collapsed on the couch when Alya’s bedroom door banged open.
“Good, you’re home! I need to talk to you.”
“Could you get me some food first, please?” Marinette made dramatic grabby hands at her best friend. She laughed and got her something to eat before plopping down next to her. Alya’s eyes were huge and she practically vibrated.
Marinette swallowed. “You look like you’re about to burst. Wait, don’t tell me – ” she snapped her fingers “ – you finally figured out Ladybug and Chat Noir’s identities.”
Alya’s only response was a dangerous smirk.
“Oh my god, no way.”
“What if I did figure it out? Or, one identity at least.”
Marinette tried really hard not to freeze. “I thought you stopped looking years ago.”
“I did! It was purely on accident. Tikki misses you, by the way.”
She let out an ungodly shriek. “Who? What? Wh – ”
Alya waved a hand dismissively. “Come on, Marinette, Ladybug has to go on ‘medical leave’ right after you started showing and you lost your earrings? The ones you literally never took off since high school? Look,” she moved her hair behind her ear, “they turn gold on me. It finally clicked – your miraculous was camouflaged the whole time!”
Marinette gaped at her. Then hit her with a throw pillow. “Alya! That was an incredibly dangerous risk! What if I wasn’t Ladybug? You would’ve just compromised your identity!”
Tikki flew out of Alya’s shirt pocket. “I tried to discourage her, Marinette. But she started asking why you trusted her specifically with the Ladybug mantle. That led to Nino being Carapace, then there was no stopping it.”
“Tikki!” Marinette grabbed her kwami and nuzzled gently against her face. “It’s so good to see you!”
Alya shook her head. “You kept this from me for thirteen years. Like, damn, girl. I’m impressed.” She smiled when Tikki settled on Marinette’s belly. Marinette’s face fell. “Hey, what’s wrong? Are you mad? I’m sorry for poking around and betraying your trust, but I’ve found something that could really help.”
“It’s not that.” She sighed. “It’s just…Adrien’s about to go through something really, really nasty with his dad.”
“Yeah, um, Adrien’s dad is kinda what I wanted to talk about. It’s going to sound ludicrous, but Hawk Moth’s reappearance is wigging me out. I’ve spent the last two days coordinating all my old data about past akumas; all the time related stats are completely random. They’ve appeared at all times during the night and day and never follow any kind of weekly schedule.”
Marinette snorted. “Believe me, I noticed.”
“There’s one pattern I did find. Come here.” Alya pulled Marinette to her feet and led her to her bedroom, which had turned into a conspiracy theory madhouse of maps and colored string. Alya pointed to a huge one in the corner, the only one with lines that didn’t look random.
“What’s all this?”
“Orange ones are where akumatizations appeared. The blue ones are where citizens have just spotted glowing purple butterflies. Remember when they started popping up all over Instagram?”
“Yeah, people were constantly looking for them.”
“I think Hawk Moth shut down shop because of that. The orange points,” she pointed on the map, “give a general idea of the target range in the city, but with the geo-tagging of the butterflies on social media it’s a much clearer picture.” Alya pointed at the point around which the blues coalesced, forming the eye of a storm. “It’s coming from the Agreste mansion.
“Before you say anything, I promise I don’t think Hawk Moth is Adrien!”
Marinette cackled. “Oh, there is no way in hell Hawk Moth is Adrien.”
“Agreed! But that means he has to be Gabriel Agreste.”
They stared at each other for several heartbeats. Alya was all but holding her breath. Marinette just stared at her sadly, an odd mix of proud and scared and ironic feelings stirring in her chest.
Finally, she said, “I know.”
“You do? How?”
“It’s – ” Marinette sighed. “There are some things I still can’t tell you, Alya. What I can say is I found out two days ago, during the last akuma attack.”
Alya put her head in her hand. “God, I hoped I was wrong…”
“Me, too.”
“Does Adrien know?”
“Yes. About me, and about his dad. I haven’t seen him in two days…I hope he hasn’t done something stupid.”
--
When the next akuma came, Adrien was furious. It wasn’t a difficult battle; Chat and Ladybird handled the poor akumatized bloke without a hitch. When the black fog evaporated around him, the guy, a grammar school teacher named Mssr. Deforest, realized what had happened and broke down crying. He sobbed that he could’ve seriously hurt the kids he was charged with.
It was hardly a unique reaction to getting akumatized. But this time, knowing who had targeted the man, Chat saw red.
“Chat Noir! Where are you going?”
He looked back at Ladybird. “It’s time to end this.”
Chat Noir stopped at home because Plagg was going to bitch at him if he didn’t get his cheese. He tucked a wheel in his pocket.
“You’re back.”
He whirled around. Marinette was curled up on the couch with her sketchpad in her lap and a bowl of carrots on the coffee table.
“I can’t let this go on,” he said softly. “I’m going to confront my father.”
“When?”
“Now.”
“Adrien – ”
“You can’t talk me out of this.”
She stood and crossed the floor to where he stood. Her hair was damp, like she’d just gotten out of the shower; he could smell her conditioner. “You just finished a battle – stay, get some rest, and we’ll make a plan. We’ll face this together. Like we always do.”
“Marinette.” Chat Noir gingerly placed his hands on her belly. “I want you there more than anything in the world, but I obviously don’t know my own father. Without your miraculous I don’t want him anywhere near you or the kitten. He’s dangerous and unpredictable.”
Marinette had to close her eyes to conceal her eye roll at ‘kitten.’ “You expect me to just stay here and wait while you’re out there all alone? You need backup!”
She was clearly itching to come with him. Her fingers kept twitching towards her hip, where her yoyo normally rests. “Who would you have me take? Queen Bee? If Ladybird comes with me then both miraculous will be right in his reach, should the worst happen.”
“Hawk Moth is transformed right now and in case you’ve forgotten, he’s beaten the shit out of both of us before.”
Adrien’s mouth quirked in a half smile with no amusement. “When I tell him who I am, the guilt’s going to kill him. I don’t think he cares about anybody’s safety except maybe mine. So please stay here. Protect our baby.”
“How are you so sure this will work?”
“If he doesn’t listen to me, he won’t listen to anyone.”
Marinette thought about everything she’d seen Gabriel do. Adrien’s ever-present bodyguard. Regulating his schedule. Keeping tabs on his friends. Hawk Moth was a monster to everyone in the city but he would never directly hurt Adrien. She had to believe that, because she didn’t see any better options.
“Okay,” she breathed.
Chat Noir swiftly knelt in front of her and kissed her belly. “I love you,” he murmured. Marinette wasn’t sure if that was only meant for the baby.
--
Chat Noir catapulted through the window of his old bedroom and de-transformed.
It seemed only fitting that Adrien face his cold, distant father while he was unspeakably angry. Gabriel always thought Adrien was too emotional and sensitive, so emotional was what he’d get.
Plagg flew in front of his face before he could stalk to the door. “You shouldn’t be doing this by yourself, kid.”
“I’m the only person he’s not going to hurt. If I bring Ladybird or Marinette they’ll be in danger.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“I’m not putting them or Tikki at risk! No, it’s just you and me for this, Plagg.”
“Sugarcube and Marinette are going to be so mad at both of us, you know.” The kwami poked Adrien in the nose. “Transform the second you think you’re in danger, okay? Promise me.”
Adrien couldn’t help but smile at the abrasive way Plagg showed his love. “Promise.”
Plagg dove into his jacket pocked, munched on some cheese, and started purring. The vibrations made Adrien feel more centered.
Adrien waited for his father in the man’s cold, echoing office. He had no idea where Hawk Moth’s lair was in the mansion, but Gabriel spent the bulk of his time in this room.
He knew he was in the right place when a hole opened up in the floor and his father rose into view, back facing him. The man touched the portrait of Adrien’s mom gingerly.
“I’m so sorry, Emilie.”
“You should be.”
Adrien has almost never seen his father get startled. The violent flinch voice said he was downright spooked, Adrien noted with grim satisfaction.
“What are you doing here?” Gabriel demanded. He recovered quickly.
“I know you’re Hawk Moth.”
Gabriel scoffed. “Adrien, don’t be absurd.”
“I know you’re Hawk Moth.”
“Son, who put these wild allegations in your head? I’m your father, Adrien, you cannot believe such things.”
Adrien stalked to his father, got right in his face, and did his best to sneer. “I. Know. You’re. Hawk. Moth.”
Gabriel sighed. “I thought you were past this constant repeating the same thing over and over again. Are you all right?”
He brushed aside the concern. God only knew if it was in the least bit genuine. “I know, father. Why?”
They stared each other down. Adrien never liked looking his father in the eyes – the grey was so cold the eye contact made him feel like he was being frozen into rock. But he swore not to break.
Countless heartbeats passed. Gabriel closed his eyes.
“Follow me. You’ll understand.”
He pressed his fingers into Emilie Agreste’s portrait. He pulled Adrien into position just before they descended in an elevator down below the mansion.
Through the glass, Adrien saw an underground lake, massive tree roots spreading into the water. The tree grew into a circular platform with the topmost branches peeking out.
“What is this place?”
Gabriel didn’t respond. Once the elevator stopped, he led Adrien to the garden, to a glass coffin. Inside was his mother.
“Father. What is this?” he grit out.
Gabriel placed his hands on the glass, staring down at Emelie Agreste’s pale, unmoving face. “She’s not dead. She’s asleep; very deeply asleep. Think of it as a curse.”
“What did you do to her?”
“I saved her life!” he snapped. “But nothing short of a miracle will truly bring to back. The ladybug and black cat miraculous, when held by the same wielder, can grant any wish in the universe. It is…the ultimate power.
“It’s the only way to wake her up.” Gabriel finally looked at his son. “You understand now, Adrien. She is why I need the miraculous. Everything I’ve done has been for this family.”
Adrien clenched a fist. “I never asked for this.”
“You miss her as much as I. Don’t pretend.”
“Oh I’m so done pretending,” he shot back sardonically. “I’m done pretending you’re anything like a good parent.”
“How dare you – I’m trying to give you back your mother.”
“But I needed a father. Not a live-in employer moonlighting as my worst enemy.”
Gabriel looked baffled. “You’re worst enemy? You’ve never been akumatized, Adrien. I would never do that to you.”
“You’re wrong on so many counts. Plagg?”
Plagg swirled into existence from Adrien’s pocket. “Ready when you are, Adrien.”
“Claws out.”
Green filled the room. Shock filled his father’s eyes.
Chat Noir quirked the corner of his mouth. “You’ve akumatized me, fought me, beaten me, thrown me off buildings, all before I was seventeen. But all that’s okay as long as it’s a different teenager, right?”
“Adrien.” Gabriel’s voice was very quiet. Dangerously quiet. “Give me your miraculous. Help me bring her back.”
“Is that really what you think mom would want?” Adrien yelled. “This wish has repercussions! If you wish her back to life, someone else will lose theirs – are you willing to risk that being me? Your kid? Or your grandkid? Already you’ve bastardized a superpower, abused a kwami, and traumatized millions of civilians! You akumatized children! The mother I knew would never, ever condone the evil you’ve done. Now on top of it all you’re keeping her trapped, unable to die.”
“Don’t presume to know her better than I. I am preserving her life, Adrien. Sustaining her until I can revive her. Please,” Gabriel held out his hand. “Give me the ring. I know you miss her, too. We can have your mother back.”
Chat Noir glared at the extended limb. “What makes you think she’d be on your side? In your little crusade to bring her back you’ve neglected me. I may not have seen her since I was thirteen but I do remember she loved me. She taught me, played with me, comforted me, listened to me when you were too busy to bother. How do you think my mom would react to who you are now?”
“If Emilie will be angry at me, then so be it. But first she needs to wake up.”
“No. Give it to me. With a universe as cruel as this, I think your little plan will mean my child will die, and unlike you, I will do anything for them and that includes cataclysm-ing my own father.”
Gabriel had the audacity to look alarmed. “Adrien…”
“So here’s what will happen. You’ll give me the butterfly and peacock miraculous. I’m going to say goodbye to my mother and give her the rest she deserves, then walk out of here and never speak to you again. You’ll keep your agreement with Marinette but otherwise leave us alone. If you actually believe you love me, you’ll do this.”
The next seconds lasted for centuries. With every passing heartbeat Chat Noir forced himself to look Gabriel in the eyes, fighting down the revulsion and instinct to sprint in the opposite direction.
Despite knowing the man for two and a half decades, his father was the last person he was ever able to easily read, so Adrien didn’t know if the lurch in his chest was surprise when Gabriel unfastened the brooch and gently placed it into his son’s palm. Chat Noir felt something delicate wash over his hand, like Nooroo was sighing in relief. He only looked away from Gabriel to pull the plug on his mom. The lights darkened; her face faded from view. “Goodbye,” he whispered.
“The peacock miraculous is in my safe.”
Chat Noir nodded and bolted for the exit like a scared kitten. Once in Gabriel’s gigantic, echoing office he stared at his mom’s portrait for several minutes, feeling absolutely nothing. Then he swung it open.
“Cataclysm.” The safe collapsed into dust. He took the book and the miraculous and left everything else in that house behind.

live-tumbling my reaction to ml season 3 episode 1 (”chameleon”)
Spoilers and salt below
=======
Hearing issues? Really? after she'd gone around charming the entire school and making everyone adore her and obviously having no trouble communicating? I'd buy it more if she had vision issues. I always had to sit in the front of the room in middle school because my eyesight sucked.
Also, whose brilliant idea was it to pair Alya/Nino and Ivan/Mylene together? Does this teacher have no idea how teenagers work?
Oh never mind. Apparently it was Lila's idea to reseat everyone. But why did Ms. Bustier agree to it? Doesn't she have enough to worry about with kids getting akumatized every other day and students not showing up to class because they have to fight crime? Does she really want to deal with the rest of her students being too busy chatting up their friends/SOs to pay attention in class, which is exactly what happens with this kind of seating arrangement?
You know what would make more sense? Putting this episode in season 2. Lila only showed up in the finale, even though they alluded to her being in their class before.
"You have a hearing issue, Lila?" Marinette asks, her voice at a normal volume. "Yes I suffer from tinnitus a constant ringing in my left ear etc. etc." Lila replies, apparently having no trouble hearing Marinette at all. For a "good liar," she's really, really dumb.
Also, they make it sound like everyone already knows about her "hearing issues" except Marinette, even though Lila's apparently been in their class for a while now. Why is the writing for this show so fucking lazy?
Remember during Origins when Alya confronted Chloe, asking her "Hey, who made you queen of the seats?" I feel like that might apply to Marinette right about now.
(This reaction has been mostly salt so far because I hate Lila [as a character, not as a person] and can't understand why she keeps getting shoehorned into the show, and I hate how Marinette acts when she's jealous about Adrien and how her characterization is so inconsistent across episodes.)
Oh for fuck's sake, just akumatize her already. At least then something interesting will finally happen. I'm sick of this status quo that the show seems to be allergic to changing.
I feel like I've talked about this before, but if the akumas aren't customized and can land on just about anyone anytime, why does Hawkmoth wait for someone to get pissed off before making one? Why doesn't he just cast one out every morning and wait for a nibble?
Ooh, cool. First look at the school cafeteria. (Where is it in the school though? It kind of looks like it might be on the top floor...)
Oh, now she has a wrist problem, too?
Has anyone referred her to a psychiatrist yet? You know, for her anger issues and her malingering/factitious disorder?
Okay, this makes even less sense. According to Marinette, Lila has literally only been at their school for a day, and that was during Volpina. So when the fuck did the rest of her class find out about her hearing issues? And how do they still remember it after she spent all of season 2 "traveling the world"?
Alya and Nino have a point that Marinette's being ridiculous. But at the same time, it's really not like them to not believe her and throw out whataboutisms to derail her. It's almost like the show writers have no idea how to write consistent characters, so every character on the show just exists there to throw out dialogue when it's convenient for plot.
(Where's Chloe in all this? I'm still waiting for the catfight that will happen when Lila inevitably trash talks Ladybug in front of Chloe.)
I know the point of this episode is to teach Marinette that it's really not worth it to get down in the mud with Lila (i.e. take the high road/sometimes it's okay to mind your own business if the other person isn't really hurting anybody), but I feel like this is something she should have learned a long time ago. Like, in season 1. Why bother with "character development" that you're just going to throw out the window by the time the next episode rolls around when it's the fucking third season now? That ship sailed a looooong time ago, and all you're accomplishing now is regressing Marinette as a character in order to build her back up to baseline. That's just shitty writing.
Interesting how Lila is baiting Marinette and making her look bad in front of her friends, and then extending her a peace offering.
I have a new theory: Hawkmoth noticed that Ladybug shows up really really fast when the person akumatized is a student at Francois Dupont, particularly when the victim is in the same class as Chloe Bourgeoise. The only 2 people in that class who haven't been akumatized yet are a) his son and b) that fashion designer girl, so he's sending Lila in to try and piss them off to see if he can tease out the identity of Ladybug.
That, or they're making Lila as obnoxious as possible so that fans won't protest when Marinette and Chloe become friends.
"Uhhhh I'm still here if you still need help catching up with schoolwork?" Finally a voice of reason! Adrien already knows that Lila's manipulative, so he just cuts to the chase and offers his friendship and a chance for her to be honest with him. And when she storms off because she can't manipulate him, he feels pity for her but he doesn't bother chasing after her because he's not interested in dealing with her shit.
Well, I guess it's a good thing that neither the akuma nor HM can sense Tikki's presence.
I guess he decided to give up on Marinette. Not a bad idea, really. This is the 3rd time he's failed to akumatize her (twice today and once in Zombizou) now.
But if Lila's angry all the time, and she's been in Paris all along, then why doesn't he just use her as his champion all the time? It's way more convenient that way, plus she's actually willing to help him.
Wait, so Lila's new akumasona is....herself?
Never mind. This is even weirder than her Volpina powers. It's like Princess and the Frog meets reverse-Sleeping Beauty.
And I guess it makes sense that she's using Adrien to go after Marinette.I
I wonder where her corrupted earring went after she transformed into Adrien though.
It is...REALLY weird watching Not-Adrien jump around the rooftops of Paris in his civilian clothes.
LMAO of COURSE Lila goes back to the Eiffel Tower.
(Can we leave her up there again at the end of the episode?)
What is she trying to accomplish here? I thought she'd pretend to be Adrien to mess with Marinette, but it looks more like ADRIEN is the one she's pissed off at, so she's making him look like an asshole to ruin his reputation in Paris. (And how is Gabriel letting her do this? I get that he's a shitty father and doesn't give a fuck about Adrien beyond making sure the kid is alive and breathing, but you'd think he'd be more concerned with the PR nightmare that's starting to brew around his fashion empire's most recognizable model.)
Well, I hope his voice actor is having fun messing around and not acting like the standard mopey and sad Adrien for once.
I'm glad that Ladybug saw through the disguise right away. But where IS the akuma, if Not-Adrien isn't wearing the earring?
What's up with the real Adrien waking up all of a sudden? Was the spell only temporary?
I would make a comment about being annoyed that Chat Noir got taken out again and served as nothing but a meat shield YET AGAIN, but whatever. It's only temporary.
I wonder if Not-Chat Noir's transformation will wear off in 5 minutes after the Cataclysm. Copy Cat had a time limit, but Queen Wasp was able to use her special Miraculous power as many times as she wanted.
I like how Lila hates Ladybug so much that she'd rather chase her down than grab the ring off an unconscious Chat Noir, even though it would only take her two seconds tops.
Aaaand we're back at the Eiffel Tower. Because of course we are. Lila had better get stuck up there again.
Seriously, WHERE IS THAT AKUMA? WHERE DID THE EARRING GO?
Wait, kissing an inanimate object turns Chameleon into that object? Or was that oyster alive? Is the real oyster asleep now? Can oysters kiss, or is she stuck as that oyster forever?
(Why does it have to be a kiss anyway? Did they only do that so they could show Lila kissing Adrien in the episode promo? Why couldn't she have a magic projectile shooting wand or something like Frightningale or Style Queen? That would be way more efficient and she wouldn't have to fight to shove her face close to anyone else.)
(Oh wait, no. Lila was watching from the window when Marinette kissed Adrien at the picnic at the end of Mayura. She must have specifically chosen kisses as Chameleon's special power as payback for that.)
"You sure got that supervillain to clam up." That.........was a terrible pun. I'm sorry I laughed. If you told me that pun in real life, I would refuse to look at you.
Wait, so if she hadn't turned Chameleon into an oyster, then where would the akuma have been??????
Oh, right. Adrien figured it out it was Lila already.
Wait, so what was the shirt for? (Disclaimer, I know nothing about how pearls are harvested. Do they need a towel/cloth to put the oyster on? Fuck if I know)
AHAHAHA, glad to see Nino got his cap back.
......I hope that comment about wanting to be Ladybug's friend is a reference to the end of Volpina, and not to the conversation she had with Marinette in the bathroom.
So she didn't get left on top of the Eiffel Tower again, since they fell off of it. But I guess getting left on a seafood stand under the Eiffel Tower is close enough.
Hey, I know that you (the writers/show creators) have promised an even scarier, more powerful threat than Hawkmoth in the new season. But you do realize that having Lila do the death glare like "oooh i know more than i'm letting on" after Ladybug leaves doesn't make her any more menacing as a villain, right? I'm still not going to take her seriously. She's a shit character, and the only reason she's even relevant is because you need a mean girl character now that Chloe's a good guy. Even though you could just make Chloe revert to being awful again. It's not like you've ever had an issue with writing characters inconsistently and having them lose any growth they had before.
Yay, words of wisdom and a voice of reason from Adrien.
(Now watch Marinette un-learn all of this by the time episode 2 rolls around.)
Again, unless Lila has figured out that Marinette is Ladybug, I don't give a shit about her as a villain. Her "evil" face at the end just looks like she has some kind of facial paralysis issue going on (hey, maybe early-onset Parkinson's can be next on her list of ailments that requre special attention). And "you and I are at war"? Really? Has the person who wrote that line ever interacted with a teenage girl before? Is that really how you think they fight with each other? How do you expect anyone to take that line seriously?
8/10. Overall, not a bad episode at all. I did have to dock a point off for having Lila in it, and another point off for everyone (except Adrien) acting out of character. But the voice acting was fine, and the villain powers were interesting, and the fight scenes were cool, and Ladybug's strategy for ultimately defeating the villain was actually brilliant.
tl;dr "It's like Princess and the Frog meets reverse-Sleeping Beauty."

Miraculous
Three months later…
Adrien was woken that Saturday night by someone banging on the apartment door. Insistent, loud knocking that was likely to wake the whole building if he didn’t do something about it.
“Mama! Papa! There’s someone at the door.” Louis called redundantly from his bedroom.
“Thanks, son, I’d never have guessed,” He muttered sleepily.
He looked at the clock in the bedroom, it was 4am. As he left his room to investigate, he picked up his phone and noticed dozens of missed calls from Nino and Kim. That woke him up. The last time his friends called him this incessantly was when Gabriel escaped from hospital.
That thought was at the top of his mind when he looked through the spyhole and couldn’t see anyone.
“Dude! Open up! I can see your shadow under the door.” It was Alix.
He breathed a sigh of relief, unbolted the door and opened it.
Alix grinned and looked Adrien up and down, which was when he remembered that slept in pyjama bottoms and no top.
“Nice abs. I think I pulled the long straw here. Kim had to go wake up Chloe and there’s no way she looks this good at four in the morning,” She leered, “The Chat Noir hair really sets off the effect, by the way.”
“Not that I don’t love having you come to my house at WTF o’clock to ogle me, but are you here for a reason?” He asked grumpily.
“Oh, yeah. Alya’s in labour.” Alix said, “And we need to get to the hospital.”
Adrien’s brain immediately woke up at the news. “M’Lady! Louis!” He shouted.
“Yeah, yeah, we heard foghorn-Kubdel there,” Marinette grumbled, fully dressed and pulling a felt fedora over her bed hair.
Louis came bounding down the stairs behind her. He was a morning person, something he definitely got from Adrien. Marinette was currently swearing at her boots and trying to put them on the wrong feet.
“Kid, you need a sweater, it’s February.” Adrien sent his son back up the stairs. “And bring a book or something, there might be a long wait.”
He followed Louis upstairs to throw some jeans, a shirt and a sweater on himself. This was dizzyingly exciting, he couldn't even begin to imagine how Nino must be feeling right now.
“Marinette..?” He found her in the kitchen, “Bugaboo, we can get food there. We have to go.”
Marinette looked defiantly at him and pushed a packet of potato chips into her bag. She grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl as she passed and he couldn’t help but laugh. Over the past few weeks, it had become more unusual to see her not eating. She claimed it was due to low blood sugar, all Adrien knew was that his food bill had quadrupled since she and Louis moved in.
Adrien eventually herded his family and Alix out the apartment and they reached the hospital in time to see a grinning Nino in surgical scrubs, emerging from a swing door.
“Miles Lahiffe-Césaire has arrived,” Nino beamed at them. “There were complications during labour so Al had to have a c-section. She’s okay, though, they have her in recovery. Miles is perfect, do you want to meet him?”
Everyone squealed in assent, but the desk clerk told them they would have to wait until Alya was back in the ward and even then, they could only go in two at a time with Nino. They didn’t mind waiting, especially when Marinette produced a picnic from her pockets.
Kim, Chloe, Alix, Louis, Marinette and Adrien ate their snacks, accompanied with excited chatter about the newest member of their extended family. Nino would occasionally pop out to give them a progress report on Alya and Miles.
Eventually, they were able to see baby Miles. Marinette and Louis went in first, then Adrien and Chloe.
“Can I hold him?” He asked.
“Of course you can, Uncle Adrien,” Alya smiled.
She looked exhausted, but her eyes were alert. Nino was the same. Adrien held out his arms and Alya placed Miles into them. He pulled him in close to his body and gazed at the tiny life in front of him. He was perfect. He had beautiful caramel skin and a smattering of black hair on his head. Little, chubby hands, bunched into fists were held up by his face. Adrien looked to Alya with tears shining in his eyes.
“You’re amazing, Al. You made him.” He said.
“Hey, I helped make him.” Nino objected.
“Yeah, but Alya grew him. That’s crazy.” Adrien explained. “He’s gorgeous and you made him.”
Chloe placed her hand on his shoulder. “I think someone is broody.”
Adrien looked at her and rolled his eyes. Then he thought, maybe I am . He’d followed Alya’s pregnancy with interest and was almost as excited as Nino about the prospect of another baby in the group. He assumed he was just happy for them, but now, with Miles in his arms, he knew wanted this for himself.
He was delighted to be a father to Louis and knew that if there were no other kids on his horizon, he would be fulfilled. Louis and he had grown close over the past few months, since it was confirmed that they were father and son. They were seeing a family counsellor (mostly Marinette and Adrien, but they also had sessions with Louis) and had worked out a lot of the issues that had almost driven them apart. As a family unit, they were strong.
Would it be so bad to add another member to the family?
Would Marinette even want another baby? It wasn’t something they had discussed yet.
After Chloe and Adrien left Alya, Nino and Miles’ room, it was Kim and Alix’s turn. The remaining four waited in silence. They were all deep in thought. Louis got his book out and started reading, his eyes looked heavy, it was now 9am and the early reveille was catching up with them all.
When Kim and Alix emerged, Nino came with them to say that he needed to go home and grab a few things for Alya. The group agreed to wait a while longer for him before returning to their own homes (and beds, Adrien was sure). Kim and Alix offered to get some coffees for everyone, otherwise they’d all be dozing off by the time Nino was ready to leave.
“Adrien? There’s a packet of palmiers in my bag, can you grab them?” Marinette asked when she saw them coming back, laden with cardboard cups.
He opened her cavernous tote and lifted the packet of biscuits out to pass to her, when he noticed something else.
“Is that… a pregnancy test, Mari?” He whispered to her, aware that their son and friends were in earshot.
She nodded solemnly. “I’m late. I thought I should take a test.”
“And?” He asked.
“I haven’t done it yet.” She said.
“Do it now! I need to know!” Adrien laughed, “Please?”
Marinette took her bag from him. She looked to where Louis was leaning against Chloe, reading Clément Aplati, oblivious to anything the adults were saying.
“Chloe, can you watch Louis, please?” Chloe nodded.
Marinette grabbed Adrien’s hand and dragged him towards the toilets.
“Wait here.” She told him and disappeared into the ladies room.
Adrien leaned against the wall, impatient for Marinette to emerge. His mind was racing. He was overwhelmingly delighted at the prospect of a baby, but wary of getting his hopes up until Marinette had taken the test. How long did these things take? He had just started pacing when she emerged clutching a white and blue plastic stick.
“I can’t look.” She thrust it into his hands. “One line or two?”
He turned it over, “Two. What does that mean?”
“It means,” She grinned, “That in roughly 35 weeks from now, you’re going to be a papa again.”
Adrien spun Marinette around in his excitement, his cheering attracting the attention of their friends. Chloe shushed them and he couldn’t stop a giggle from escaping his lips.
Another 15 weeks later…
The past four months had been something of a blur.
After they broke the news to Louis that he was going to be a big brother, he immediately headed upstairs to pick out which toys he was going to let his little brother or sister play with. He appeared on the landing with an armful of jagged plastic and asked, “Do babies like dinosaurs?” He was excited at the prospect of a sibling.
Marinette went into overdrive to secure a new boutique manager and increased her Saturday girl’s contract to cover Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mme. Couquet and Marinette scouted locations for a second boutique in every free moment. She was serious about expanding her business and the sudden timeline the new baby had given them was driving her forwards.
Adrien read every baby book Nino and Ivan had, plus four or five more he found in the library. He offered to change nappies, help with bottle feeds and bathe Miles whenever he could. He ensured he cooked meals that were high in all the nutrients Marinette needed for energy and to nourish the baby. Adrien and Louis painted the third bedroom in preparation for transforming it into a nursery.
Now, in the clinic, they were ready to find out if Louis was getting a brother or sister.
“You know, if we’re having a boy, we’ll have to explain to Louis that we can’t name it ‘Thor’?” Marinette said.
“I dunno, I like the name…” Adrien teased.
“Well, maman et pere, you don’t have to worry about that,” The sonographer smiled, “You are having a girl.”
Adrien's heart soared. A girl! Marinette squeezed his hand and he looked at his partner, grinning back at him, eyes twinkling with joy.
“Are you happy with a daughter?” She asked.
He nodded vehemently. A daughter!
“Marinette? I know you had your heart set on Emma for a girl,” he said, “but I wonder if you’d consider Emilie?”
"Emilie,” Marinette repeated. “It’s beautiful.”

Marichat May Day 11 - Age-up Marinette
Chat Noir is hit with a beam that causes its victim to see a glimpse into their future.
Rated G || 2,069 Words
Cross posted on Ao3 || FF
A Glimpse
People all over Paris were standing still, staring into space. They were frozen to one place but none of the victims even realized. Some people were screaming, some were laughing, and some were crying. These people, who had been hit by Future Bringer, were seeing a snippet of their future. Ladybug and Chat Noir had gathered two pieces of information, thus far. Those who were struck with Future Bringer’s beam couldn’t interact with what the scene held within the vision and there was a huge possibility these were actual futures the victims were seeing. Had only sad emotions been expressed by victims then the super duo would know these futures were false. Those with joy on their faces are what convinced Ladybug and Chat Noir the visions were real, for if the villain was making up the future events everyone would have an unfortunate future.
Ladybug was in the midst of calling upon her lucky charm when Future Bringer shot a time beam toward her that she wouldn’t be able to avoid in time. Instinctively, Chat Noir jumped in front of his partner, getting hit with the beam instead. He had no way of knowing what went on next as black mist swirled across his vision and he was suddenly in a kitchen.
(::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)< /ᐠ.ꞈ.ᐟ\ (::)<
A dark-haired woman, with a high bun atop her head, had her back turned to him. She looked to be rolling out cookie dough balls and placing them onto a baking sheet. Chat was unbelievably confused as to why his future contained this woman until a wedding ring caught the light and flashed as she moved her left hand. This was his wife. He desperately wanted to see her face but he couldn’t move from the spot he was standing in no matter how hard he struggled.
Somewhere in the house he heard a door unlock and open. A child’s laughter floated to his ears. Was that? He heard footsteps coming from behind him and a voice that sounded like his own but deeper. “Where is my beautiful wife? I have a small sack of potatoes here had has been asking for maman the entire time we were at the store. I don’t even think this one even loves me. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with the next one.” The next one?
The child giggled again and shouted. “Papa, of course I love you.” Chat had to choke back a sob at the words utter by his future child. At the noise the woman looked over her shoulder to the hallway Chat assumed he stood in front of, she was smiling softly. He was met with the face of a woman, but there was no doubt in his mind that she was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Before he could fully comprehend that fact, he was walked through like a ghost.
His older self walked into the kitchen carrying a boy of about three and a grocery bag. The child had Marinette’s dark hair but his green eyes. He was the most beautiful thing Chat had ever laid his eyes on. Older him leaned against the counter next to Marinette and set down the bag. “You two are back early. I wanted to surprise my two favorite boys with some of their favorite cookies.” She sighed dramatically. “Alas, I guess I’ll just have to throw all this dough out.”
“Oh, but bugaboo, the cookie dough is the best part anyway.” Older Adrien grabbed one of the cookie dough balls off the baking tray and retreated a few steps. He’d called her bugaboo. Did that mean? The question wasn’t thought of farther when Marinette turned to face her husband. Suddenly, his older self’s comment about having better luck with the next one made sense. She was pregnant, very pregnant by the looks of it. She rested a hand on her stomach as she walked over to older Adrien.
“Adrien Dupain-Cheng-Agreste, don’t you dare eat that cookie dough. I grew up in a bakery, I know the dangers of eating raw dough.” She was glaring at him with an intensity he’d seen directed at akumas on multiple occasions. The glare was directed up if he were being precise. At their current teenage heights, Adrien was already taller than Marinette. As adults, he practically towered over her.
“As you wish my princess.” Older Adrien turned his head to his son. “Alright Hugo, maman said not to eat the cookie dough so what are we going to do?”
“Listen to maman and put it back?”
“Very good my boy.” Older Adrien kissed his son on the cheek while walking over to put the cookie dough back on the tray. Hugo giggled and nestled closer to his papa. Marinette followed behind smiling as though they were her entire world. Older him placed the dough back onto the cookie sheet and turned to his pregnant wife. “Well, Mrs. Dupain-Cheng-Agreste, since you denied me the cookie dough, do you plan on giving me something else sweet instead?” He leaned forward giving Marinette a smirk only ever worn by Chat.
“Silly kitty, I was already planning on doing that.” She pretended to bop something at his chest, very much like Ladybug would do Chat’s bell from time to time. Older Marinette then took a fist full of older Adrien’s shirt and brought his lips down to press against hers. His hand went to her belly while the other held Hugo who giggled at his parents’ display of affection.
Chat was suddenly pulled out of the vision. “NO, I WANT TO GO BACK!” He was sobbing as his legs gave out and his knees hit the ground. Vaguely, he felt someone scoop him up, carrying him away. He’d seen his family. He was so happy in the future. Chat wanted to be happy now. He was set on a roof somewhere and Ladybug was in front of him. Marinette was in front of him. His future wife was in front of him. She had his face gripped in her hands, concern written all over it as she asked him what he’d seen. He wrapped his arms around her back and crushed her to him. He was sobbing into her shoulder as he quietly began to tell her what he saw in both their futures.
“I saw us Marinette.” She stiffened at her name but he continued after a few more choked breaths. “We were married. We had a son named Hugo and another child on the way. Your hair was longer and you were keeping it in a bun. You were so, so beautiful.” He felt her beginning to shake has she began to cry but he had to finish. He didn’t know if he could continue if he let his own sobs overtake him. “We hyphenated, Dupain-Cheng-Agreste. It’s long but I already love it.” He heard her gasp at the name and she gripped him tighter.
“You kissed me. I had one hand on your stomach and the other was holding our son. I wish I could print the moment out and frame it. It was so full of love and joy. I loved you and you loved me. We were a family. I can’t wait to be happy. I can’t wait to be happy with you Marinette.” Ladybug tightened her grip even further, holding onto him like her life depended on it. They both let their sobs take over as they clung to each other. They both wanted to be living in the moment now, they didn’t want to wait years.
Ladybug’s breathing began to even out. She still clung to Chat tightly as she spoke. “I love you. I love you as Adrien and I love you as Chat. I love you so much it hurts sometimes. I’m so excited that we get to spend our lives together. I’m so happy we’re happy.” The end of her sentence was choked as her tears began again.
“As Marinette Dupain-Cheng or as Ladybug I love you with all my heart. I can’t wait to spend my life with you. I’m so happy we’re happy too.” He pulled her from his shoulder and pressed a kiss to her lips. Neither one of them wanted to separate from the other, their emotions were too raw. Marinette suggested he sleep at her place that night. Both heroes landed on her balcony right as their Miraculous timed out. The teens looked at each other for the first time knowing that the classmate in front of them was their partner, in more than one way. Arms opened and they were wrapped in an embrace once more.
Before too long, the teens untangled themselves and climbed down into Marinette’s room. Once inside, Plagg laid a hand on Adrien’s cheek. “Hey kid, I know you couldn’t take in all the details when you were in the vision but I was seeing it too since you were transformed. I just wanted to let you know that you and Marinette were still wearing your Miraculous. Even though you didn’t see me, I was still with you.”
Adrien smiled at the kwami of destruction. “Thank you Plagg. I was starting to wonder.” The boy gave his kwami a loving smile which was returned, much to Adrien’s surprise.
Adrien and Marinette settled into her bed while to two kwami flew off to let them be alone. Adrien wrapped his arms around Marinette as she laid her head on his chest. They were both exhausted from their crying and were soon asleep.

As the two heroes’ breathing evened out, two kwami whispered together in a corner of Marinette’s room. “Plagg, why did you let him about them still having the Miraculous if he hadn’t seen it for himself? They shouldn’t know about their futures anyway!”
Plagg sighed and looked across the room at the sleeping teens. “He was going to start worrying about it soon enough. I couldn’t let the kid wonder if another person he loves is going to leave him eventually all night. I know they shouldn’t know about the future Tikki. I’m going to destroy the memories.” Tikki gasped, it had been a lot time since Plagg had tampered with someone’s memories. “I’m going to leave some of it. Them knowing who the other is, confessing their love for each other. Everything from the future has to go though.” Tikki heard Plagg sniffle slightly. “It hurts that I’m going to have to take that happiness away from him. He gets so sad sometimes Tikki and, I-I don’t know what to do when he does. Taking away the knowledge that he has happiness to look forward to absolutely kills me.” More shocking than Plagg tampering with memories was Plagg crying. It had been centuries since the cat kwami had last cried. Seeing his tears really struck Tikki with how much Plagg had come to care for Adrien.
“Plagg, I know it’s hard but I’ll be right next to you. Plus, even though you’re taking away the memories from the future, he’ll still have his memories of the present. He’ll know that Marinette is Ladybug and that she loves him. This is the start of his happiness. Just because he won’t have proof his future is happy won’t stop him from thinking he will end up happy.” Tikki used one of her paws to wipe one of Plagg's cheeks. “You ready?” The kwami of destruction nodded.

The next morning Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng woke up in each other’s arms for the first time. Marinette loved the sleepy look that was still in Adrien’s eyes and Adrien thought Marinette’s bed head was absolutely adorable. Neither knew exactly what happened to bring them to cuddling in Marinette’s bed through the night. What they did know what that the other was their crime fighting partner, they both loved each other immensely, and they wanted to wake up next to each other again. Adrien pulled a still drowsy Marinette into a kiss and for some odd reason his hand drifted to rest on her stomach as he did.
