I feel like I’ve been taking ages on writing chapter 15 (it’ll still take a little longer, but I wanted to offer compensation since it’ll be a while more) so I’d like to offer a short snippet from the beginning of it 😳🧡💛

‘ She glances at him reproachfully, another look he withstands passively, and then she’s turning sharply on her heel, making back toward the light, back toward the laughter. Silent as a shadow, Azriel catches her upper arm, having to exert surprising force to keep her still. “Where are you going?” He asks coldly.

“Where do you think?” She counters sharply.

“They have enough on their plates,” Azriel mutters. As if on queue, Nyx’s laugher giggles through the halls, a stark contrast to the gloom lurking just beyond the light’s end. Mor snatches her arm away. “You have enough on your plate,” she says lowly, eyes glinting as they cut through him, “we could have made room. You should have told us.” But Azriel stands his ground, not giving an inch. “It was the right call.”

“You have no idea where she is,” Mor counters. “No idea where she is, or what state she might be in. What makes you think that was the right call?”

“You’re questioning my judgement?”

“Yes, I’m fucking questioning your judgement,” she hisses back lowly. “She told me she didn’t want any of you to know,” he counters coldly, “she’s reclusive anyway, suddenly outing her wouldn’t have done anything helpful.”

The wording seems to strike something in Mor, ire banking, eyes shuttering briefly, before she’s gritting her jaw again. “You should have told us.” ’

I am so very sorry you’ve been going through such hardship. It’s never ever tmi. You are always safe here. I remember turning 31 hit me way harder than 30 (same actually with 41 vs 40…).

I used to panic whenever I felt the pull toward hardcore escapism, but now I just embrace it. I call it “retreating to my cave.” And at times it’s just the right thing to do. Retreat and regroup, so you can come back stronger to face the horrors of the world. I’m sending you the tightest Mediterranean hugs, open splayed palms, softly humming in your ear, gently rocking you into my strong embrace.

It’s a comfort however to think the Orange bedroom and my characters might have provide you with some solace. I hope you know you’re safe here, in my ask box and/or my DMs, any time you need to hide from the world. I hope you are now doing better 🧡
