They don't respond, just stare down at their boots solemnly. Though their dropped gaze doesn't last long as the taller kobolds grabs their face in one hands and jerks their head upwards,

There's a soft whine from them as air is forced out of their throat, to try to make some semblance of noise at their father. Tears forming in their eyes as they stare up at him until he'd heave a heavy sigh and release their face to take hold of their wrist.

❝ You're coming home. Now. We'll talk punishment later. You mother is worried sick and your siblings have had to pick up your slack. ❞

The man is quick to leave, though he does cast a venomous gaze back at the two before spreading his wings and taking off into the trees. Hed be back, pain in the ass as she was he'd be back.

Hax, on the other hand, almost seems to flinch when Jewel kneels down to reach for their wrist. The gentle touch helps calm them, and they relinquish their arm to her to inspect. Shaking their head at her question. No, their father hadn't gotten angry enough to crush their wrist, not this time. They were lucky.

Then, a soft sigh, the small daemon tapping their neck with their free hand. To let Jewel know she wouldn't be getting a response from them, not verbally anyway.

She eyes little Hax. Unable to remove the concern from her eye. It’s unbearable to imagine having to relive that horror. 

Jewel turns towards Hax’s father. And her gaze could only be cold. And cruel. The man is freed, his arm is spared for him to run.

A very knowing grin. Jewel is going to be a pain in Hax’s parents’ ass as long as they keep going after them.

Jewel leveled herself to look at little Hax’s wrist. Her touch in general is gentle when it comes to them.

No, no he wouldn't dare. The second his shirt was grabbed and he was set on his feet- and then lifted into the air- he knew he would be wise to keep his mouth shut and shut tight. He'd picked a bad fight , a losing fight, and as much as his pride was damaged, last thing he needed was for his body to join it. At least any more than it already was.

A cough followed by a hiss and groan leaves the kobold man as he's thrown to the ground. Landing on his hands, using one of them to wipe his mouth once he'd gotten his bearings, the glint of a gun makes him freeze in place.

A loosing battle indeed, his wife is sure to bite his head off once he told her about this.

He hisses between clenched teeth, pushing himself back to standing, an arm still wrapped around his stomach. His wings retracting into his back, he spits at Vash's feet, again that amber blood mixed in as it hits the ground.

❝ Some pacifist, fine, have it your way. I'll go. ❞

He'd be back, once he was sure this Vash character was long gone. Hax couldn't evade him forever, as much as they wanted to he knew where they were now. He planned to use that, one way or another.

I wouldn't have to be a monster if they just listened in the first place- if they turned out right!

Those words bounced around in his head as he just stared down at probably one of the most foul people he'd ever had the misfortune of knowing. How could anyone think so little of their own child? How could you bring a life into this world and put it through so much just because 'it didn't turn out right'?

Stepping forward Vash was quick to grab onto the low life's shirt and haul him to his feet and then off the ground entirely until they were at eye level with one another. "Call them a freak again... I dare you." He snarled his face mere inches from the others.

"How could you think so little of them? They're your own child! Maybe if you showed them some fucking love and compassion they'd be willing to listen to you." Tossing the other back onto the ground he made sure his coat moved just enough to expose his gun to the other.

"I'm normally a pacifist but if you don't get the hell out of here that can change. The only reason I'll let you walk freely is because of the kid." Wasting his energy on this piece of shit wasn't worth his time but if he swung at him again he would swing back as hard as he could.

If this kobold had respect for anything, it was certainly not the sea. Hell, he seemed to hate the ocean, despite sitting on a rocky outcropping just over the waves. Tacking fit-sized rocks and launching them into the waves as if their very existence was just to spite him.

Yet he dare not move from his spot. He was still recovering from his previous encounter with a mechanical armed man. Still nursing his wounds, occasionally spitting blood into the churning waters from when he's bit his own tongue in that battle.

Damn him, damn him and that brat he called his child. Selling him out like that, disobeying his orders, it made his blood boil. And right when they could have actually become of use to the family instead of the family freak.

Simmering in his enraged thoughts, he only notices the merfolk after he'd launched another stone into the sea and bent down to scoop up another. The small statured man freezing in place as he stares at her,

To him she looked more like a beast, and he was going to assume she was just that. His wings unfurling to spread wide to make himself look larger- and possibly take flight... if the damaged wing of his would allow.
