Sapete a chi dare la colpa di tutte le sfighe da ieri.

E tutto ciò fino al 2 gennaio. Quindi che altro aggiungere... buone feste?

Okay, so I have solidly maintained for some time that I don't have an accent, yes? And to be fair, for most of my life, I haven't. Growing up my mother concentrated heavily on phonics and proper pronunciation, and I still tend to pronounce words phonetically (rather than correctly.)

However. While in the main plotline of Sons of the Star, none of the characters have accents, in Annaáuchiwee, Max, and Riser to a lesser degree, has a distinct Southern drawl. So of course when I'm writing them, I'm thinking in their speech patterns.

Anyway I had to take the youngest to the doctor today (routine checkup, complete waste of time, didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but it keeps them off my back so whatever.) And I was listening to myself talk and going "Huh, that's funny, I've developed a trace of an accent." Kind of a mix between a classic Southern drawl and a bit of Tumblr misspellings/mispronunciations thrown in. But it was really only a trace, not really remarkable at all.

Or so I thought.

When the driver came to pick us up to bring us home, she was playing R&B, yes? Not my favorite but it wasn't explicit and therefore not worth making a fuss about. But of course my children were chattering nineteen to the dozen and I was answering them and about halfway home she goes, "Is there anything you'd like to listen to?"

Me being me I was all like "Oh no no, that's fine." And she was like "Okay" and switched the radio to Tim McGraw.

Girl. Help.

That's probably why I like it. I dated a scene girl and another girl that was somewhere between scene and goth. It's kind of been a soft spot for me all these years.

Im not sure which category of alt I fall into really, it of then all at times 🤔

If I straightened my hair it would look super scene mullet, I wore it straight a lot when I first got the haircut years ago

You think Peach ever gives Mario a kiss on the cheek, just because? Or maybe just to see him blush 🤭

The thing is... Peach wishes she could give him a kiss every single day; but the occasions that would typically (or "reasonably") justify such a gesture sadly don't come by nearly often enough, and she's much too shy to do it unprompted; so she has to settle for the next best thing, which is seeking his presence every chance she gets and hugging him a lot. 😭💓

She would vaguely notice how nervous his demeanor becomes whenever she lays a hand on is shoulder, brushes one of his unruly brown locks back into place or briefly wraps her arms around his neck in a welcoming embrace, but she would in truth be much too distracted herself to really ponder said change. 🫠 Feeling her own cheeks warm up and her heart get into a mild frenzy whenever they would be close or directly touching. 💞
