Was thinking about that vid actually and wanted to share it just in case anyone needed it! It focuses on legitimately obtaining Pokemon, but has some really useful and obscure tidbits that you may have forgotten about, and will be lost to time once the shop goes down.

Such as:

> PokéBank will become free to use once the eShop goes down, HOWEVER. PokéTransporter will NOT be available to anyone who decides to wait until PokéBank is free if they haven't downloaded it/subbed to Bank previously. Good news is, a Bank subscription is only $5 and even though you can't add funds with a credit card or eShop card at this point, there's still a way to link funds using your Nintendo account (vid goes over this detail!)

> Obtaining the Dream Radar Therian forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus (also grants them their Hidden Abilities)

> Easily obtained Gen 1/2 Hidden Ability Pokemon via Transporter, plus moves exclusive to those gens (cannot be legitimately learned in newer games)

> Catchable Celebi in Crystal Version

> Mega Glalie (or Mega Steelix depending on your 3DS's region) from the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire demo that can be transferred to the full games

> Ash Greninja (has the ability Battle Bond) from the Sun and Moon demos that can be transferred to the full game

deseret book is more persistent than duolingo.

i ordered 2 books for a church research project on Black saints in the early Church and also in the Reorganization, on which the one book had a small section us and all had info from the our shared early church history, and it was an ebook too!

and i get physical mail from them once a month. i have no idea how to cancel.

herald house, the community of christ publishing house, contacts me much less, and i buy books from them all the time.

and oh their church book app reminds me to read my scriptures and the words of their prophets regularly if it's not in sleep mode.

i have to admire the effort behind it, ngl.

Can I just say that I wouldn’t be able to make some of the edits I do without Lucas? If you ever need a movie capped, @spynorth is the one to commission. Seriously, he can find things I never can or don’t have the time to invest in the search and is incredibly fast and reliable. He’s able to cap from most streaming platforms so if you’ve got a muse where resources are hard to find, consider commissioning Lucas for screencaps because he is so incredibly reliable and communicative through the entire process!!

It is true that big budget movies with wide theater releases & big promotional campaigns from the studios are getting worse. However, if you dig a little past the corporate bs, there are a lot of great mid-budget films & indie films still being made. They typically get 1-3 weeks in the theater & little to no promotion, and they often only just break even, but they are there. For example, in the past few months I went out to see Thelma, Trap, Blink Twice, and I wanted to see Strange Darlings but I ran out of time.

I hate that mid-budget movies don't get the promotional attention they used to, because I think they could be big hits if studios would just trust that audiences want new things. I hate that looking for anything other than blockbusters in theaters has become more & more of a niche thing, only for the cinephile. I miss studios taking a chance on a big-budget original film concept. But good original movies do exist.

This may be a bit of an overkill tool, but if I'm looking for something to watch I check FirstShowing. It contains a (mostly) comprehensive list of all the movies debuting this year. It can be a little overwhelming, but I've found some great stuff on there by picking a random month & clicking through the links until I find something that appeals to my tastes.

#tldr; good new movies do exist but they are underpromoted & therefore are rarely huge hits #so the big grossers which do get promo make it look & feel like all movies are getting worse #also patrick willems made a great yt video about this called Who Is Killing Cinema #highly recommend it because it puts forth some very interesting ideas

Okay so a cardigan it is, and while I already have a few cardigan patterns saved I decided to get a new one.

And so far after reading through (not all the way through, but still... 🙈) it seems promising...

One thing I'll change about the pattern though is the eyelet of sorts ridges that run throughout the fabric — I am not too keen on lacy sweaters/cardigans/tops (lacy shawls are GOOD, but somehow the thought of lace fabric on a sweater feels incongruous to me 🤨🥴), so at first I was thinking of swapping it out with Bicki's bamboo rib.

But after swatching it I felt like it didn't look as good as expected it also didn't help that I executed the stitches incompetently 🤪, so off I went looking for another stitch.

And then I remembered about the rick rack ribbing, so I frogged back my swatch (not all the way through), searched for the instruction, and...

It looks decent now!

So it is fixed then, the eyelet ridge is now swapped with the rick rack rib for my version of Durumagi cardigan. I already ordered the yarns, it's just a matter of time until I start casting it on...👀

I want to make another garment (sweater/cardigan) but what kind of sweater/cardigan exactly?? 🤔🤨👀
