🕯️how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you’re not a social person/experience social anxiety?

I think it is important to find a space where you are happy and comfortable. They always say "curate your own fandom experience" and that is true. For years, I didn't really "put myself out there" as a writer, but ever since the pandemic I found my way to writing Discords or fandom Discords where others also write, like the CO Discord and The Lima Bean and The Second Breakfast Club. There are also great online initiatives like The Lima Bean (again) and I heard todaydreambelieversfic is making a comeback, and they also encourage writers to introduce themselves yada yada.

And even though I haven't engaged with some of these places in a while, I am always grateful for them because not only do they give me more confidence to put my stuff online (it used to be nerve-wrecking to tag someone for WW/SSS or put something in #self-promo), but it also gives a little community. And I think that is healthy. There is a fun feedback loop.

Like this, for example. I got some moots in my inbox. I woke up to several of these asks and I had a :D moment. At this point it's almost weird to me that I didn't have a little writing corner in my fandom space for years.

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?

I think it is fixed, but I do notice that I have a different style of writing for CO because there I mimick Rainbow's style (I don't think I'd ever write first person for any other fic). I do think I have improved, so there is change there. My worst sin is, that when I started out in 2013-2014, I didn't use paragraph breaks. There are some words and sentences that I use a lot, but after I saw a particular positive post about that, I am happy that I do that. (It used to make me anxious before, as in "am I too repetitive?")

Blue walked with his Jolteon letting it enjoy browsing around the park, he noticed some old adverts of Red on one of the trees and stared. It was just a stock photo of Red's younger self that had done promos for adverts years ago. A familiar feeling of uneasiness rises to the surface with other emotions that were a bit more complicated.

He wondered if he angry that Red has taken over his mind again after all these years he tried to forget about him.

In some ways in yes. Made things more difficult. More complicated. And it just made it harder to imagine a world without him.

But in other ways it helped him get closure in a strange way. There's a sense of comfort in familiarity that made it every encounter feel genuinely exciting.

He's less confused than before but his dependence of the others affirmations are annoying.

Blue moved away from looking at the poster once his Jolteon was zapping bug pokemon for fun.
