For many years, this estate was vacant. Or so, it was said to be. Only more recently was it speculated otherwise.
Reports of it โbeing hauntedโ had begun to circulate; during the evening hours, on occasion, one could hear the sound of a piano resonating from somewhere inside its abandoned halls... There was a day in which the manor bore life - aside from this alleged haunting at present, surely - but to any who may pay it visitation, all within it appeared to be blanketed by dust; lifeless, lost to timeโฆ save for a grand piano, which comprised the corner of a large living room.
In the light of the setting sun, the gentle beginnings of a melody graced it with another tune. Upon the bench placed before it, there sat its โsongful specterโ once more.
Hunched over the keyboard, she looked to be swept away in a world of her own. There was no sheet music to be read. Her gaze was sheathed by eyelids drawn to a close, her expression unfeigned.
This songโฆ it was one she knew well.
Something from within unfurled with every measure. Like an effulgent flower coming into bloom; a blossoming ballad. And from its unfolding petals poured torrent after canorous torrent. In time, she was a wildfire taking to the keys. Heartfelt. Passionate.
There was then an abrupt stop, however. Final notes sustained lingered in the air, tinged by an uncertainty as to whether or not another measure waited beyond themโฆ
โI suppose I am trespassing, arenโt I?โ Her lips curved, subtly, yet archly as the near-silence was broken. โAgain.โ
By her nature, the wayfarer eventually came to realize someone had entered the room. She could feel their presence. Though, it was only by movement cast within the muddled reflection of an old, antique wall mirror some ways away that she was able to actually see and recognize who it was that had entered. It was the General. She caught her red-handed another day.
โAgain.โ The context was a little dubious, but there was no denying thatโฆ previous mishap. In contrast to it, however, she made no effort to escape. She remained seated; calm - or as calm as she could be - still reeling from the makings of music and in its midst, to some extent, caught unawares just as well. Perhaps she was more curious than anything about what may transpire this time aroundโฆ

As pleasant as she often was, sadly, this would not detract from how she had just... appeared unannounced in the slightest. Normally, she was one for courtesy (or at least a little more than this) and yet, here she was, threatening to startle the General herself over a cup of tea.
Alas, if there was one thing that triumphed over Courtesy, it was the other C - arguably the biggest of C's among the Sal C Collective: Curiosity. And what a heavenly aroma this blend gave off as it was... one she simply could not resist this day!
"If I may inquire, what sort of tea is this?"
It seemed familiar, yet not. Even if it should be one that was familiar to her down to a T(ea), perhaps it would still prove to be unique! In this vast universe, who was to say one world's tea of black, green or any other make was the same as another's, after all? ๐ต

Instead of pouring the tea, the General peered at the newfound guest without smile nor shock. Curiosity lingering for but a few seconds, but quickly dismissed in favor of being a proper server of the moment. There was only one question to be asked:
"Sugar?"

I think the reason why Elain wasn't given enough credit in ACOSF for killing the King of Hybern has to do with her role as a spy in the next book. We know that spies should not be suspected, and by everyone giving the credit to Nesta as the King Slayer, Elain would only be seen as the soft, sweet sister who helps people in Velaris with their gardens. As a result, she'll be able to play her role as a spy successfully without anyone suspecting her. 'Housewives or secretaries, most people wouldn't look twice at them; that's why they were selected for a lot of missions.'-SJM

Somehow, some way, and oh so suddenly...
There was the violinist; regaled with the tale of the Rose of May, stricken by the desire to "dance" this day. ๐น Albeit, be it by the wind or word of mouth, the messenger may or may not have failed to elaborate on the nature of the dance. However...
To dance, you say? Surely, this was a stupendous opportunity that could not be missed! No way!
Now... There was perhaps a distinct vacancy of critical thinking; to see that Beatrix held a sword may provoke the thought "maybe I misheard" or "this is not the dance I expected" under normal circumstances.
Alas, Lorien gallantly strode into the scene, undeterred and seemingly alight with the thoughts of dance. In standard fashion, he greeted her with a small bow.
"If it is a partner in dance that you seek, I would be more than happy to oblige, my lady. If you would have me." Surely, any dance to be shared with the General would be grand! Right?
