I got goth vibes and so does my AngelOC, Elodie. So it's funny to imagine this pink boy who is secretly an emo boy in disguise next to a wednesday addams esque babe lmao. Poor boy miscalculated, I like that there was an option to be like 'Oh I like that goth style' at the cafe.

But this raises a question! Would he drop the Ren persona and aesthetic if he realized it wasn't totally necessary?

⌞♥⌝ This has been answered multiple times in the past, but yes, he'd drop the light academia aesthetic if Angel wasn't into it! ^^

However, from a game dev standpoint, it'd be extremely difficult for me to include a bunch of types and aesthetics in hopes of making Ren's appearance feel more inclusive for everyone, so it's easier for me to say, "Oh, Angel likes this one anime character" and build the lore around that.

So, for those who like Ren's real appearance and would've preferred if he introduced himself as [REDACTED] (instead of his Haruko persona), I hear you!! ^^

But please understand that if that were the case, the 14DWY storyline would be a lot less interesting and would defeat the entire purpose of Ren's motives. A big part of his characterisation is that he's more than willing to alter every part of himself to become Angel's ideal type, and if their type happened to be [REDACTED], then it'd make the buildup to his reveal in Day ??? feel far less anticlimactic.

almost scared to ask but what is rote!! idek where to start it sounds like a loooot of material

it is a lot but it’s worth it. rote AKA realm of the elderlings by robin hobb, its a 16 book fantasy series. very character driven, immaculate world building. the characters are so loveable but also so flawed (in the best way possible), by the time the series is finished it'll feel like you're finishing a journey with childhood friends. you'll want to throttle the characters half the time while also wrapping them in the tightest hug. there's pirates, there's sentient boats, there's dragons, there's magical animal bonds, prophecies and catalysts. it's dark, its intense, its emotional. there's everyones favourite funky little (gnc) guy the fool, and a pathetic wet dog of man named fitz.

reading order: (start with farseer trilogy and work your way from there)

I wish when people compared Katara and Percy Jackson they would actually COMPARE them instead of just making water powers jokes😭They literally have so much in common.They're both blue-coded,troubled but good kids turned even better adults rep,autistic,love their mom's so bad and their dad's that couldn't be there for a long time,are super mean and snarky and bitter yet equally kind and silly and sweet,punk,have tgirl swag(Katara's specific type of girlhood vibes and Percy's egg subtext that borderlines on just text)and act maternal as trauma coping but there's a really interesting parallel in that Katara's was adultification and parentification while Percy's mom friend tendencies come from breaking the cycle of abuse.I can't help but feel the only reason they don't really get compared is Katara's a girl so you guys think it means she can't be like Percy because that's a disqualifier for your sexist asses so she has to be a random female character you don't care either but pretend to for brownie points💀'Son of Poseidon' is about The Southern Raiders actually and i'm making her a blue food feast as we speak
