Rewatching season 1 (and rereading earlier chapters), yeah, Yuuji is an odd one. I don't mean just his strength and speed alone, but it's how he behaves sometimes.
In episode 14 when Yuuji is being introduced to Maki, Panda and Toge, his reaction to learning Toge's Cursed Speech gets me.
He caught on quick how Toge's technique works. And when he was giving an example, Yuuji comes out with "so if he told someone to go die, they'll do it" and was impressed by that.
OUT OF ALL EXAMPLES HE COULD HAVE GAVE, WHY DID THAT COME OUT?!
It honestly came out so... Kenjaku-like for me.
EDIT: I'm just realizing the irony of this scene given what he's holding...

Cheshire grin broadening with an overabundant flash of teeth, Terry's arms strain to raise up with an amused grunt, holding the hefty rug above his head as probing line of vision pointedly peers right into a lifeless pair of amber eyes (as if they held some sort of secret pertaining to vim and vigour from the depths of the animal kingdom). The tiger skin is expectantly heavy but surprisingly warm to the touch, the man having been unable to stop his fingertips dragging through the thick pelt when first procuring it, a far cry from the bloody mess in the aftermath of a penetrative bullet aimed right for the heart. A part of the brunet had considered keeping the damn thing for himself after all the tracking their troupe had to carry out to pin it down, a nigh extinct variant of the feline that was a hit with poachers and wild game hunters alike. But no, this magnificent beast would have to be for his Johnny alone - a sign of unspoken devotion whose potency was as comparable as the garishness of the obnoxiously over the top gift.

( the beast stares at them both. he better get used to seeing this. ) johnny speaks with an echo of the poor kid he was, and the pride of the man he is, and a playfulness that these days seems only to belong to the times when heâs with terry. âterry, i feel just awful. on my last multi-million dollar international hunting expedition, i didnât get you anything.â
