Arcane Stronghold- prison for monsters
The Arcane Stronghold has been around for centuries, having been built shortly after the titans' wrath was unleashed upon demigods and humans. Its construction was a joint effort between powerful sorcerers, demigods, and mythical creatures themselves, who recognized the need for a secure facility to confine dangerous magical beings.
Within the Arcane Stronghold, there are different divisions or wings dedicated to housing various types of magical beings. Each division is specially designed to accommodate the unique needs and abilities of its inhabitants. The stronghold has individual cells or chambers, some with reinforced bars, others with magical barriers, to contain the inmates according to their power level and temperament.
The Arcane Stronghold is staffed by a select group of highly skilled individuals, including powerful sorcerers, demigods, and mythical creature representatives. These individuals serve as guardians and wardens, ensuring the security and order within the prison. They possess specialized knowledge and abilities to handle and control magical beings, and they undergo rigorous training to fulfill their roles.

Theseus #1 - "Pythia: Oracle of Delphi"
King Aegeus of Athens, still childless, travels to the Pythia oracle at Delphi for advice. The Pythia, ever famous for her enigmatic and ambiguous prophecies, tells him “Do not uncork the wineskin until you have reached Athens.”
Zeus, wanting to locate the center of the world, released two eagles flying in opposite directions around the earth at equal speeds, and the birds reached one another at a specific point above the slope of Mount Parnassus. Here Zeus placed a sacred stone called the Omphalus, or “naval of the earth.” A serpent, Pytho (son of Gaia) guarded the stone, until Apollo came and slew the creature, establishing the site as a divine source for receiving messages directly from the god of prophecy.
Before entering the temple, priestesses and pilgrims alike would wash themselves in the soul cleansing waters of the Castilian spring for purification. In a sacred, inner sanctum, the Pythia, (head oracle priestess) was said to sit upon a tripod and breath in toxic vapors (said to be toxic fumes from Pythos rotting body) from a chasm below in the cave rock. The fumes could have been methane or ethylene, while others have theorized, she chewed or inhaled smoke from Oleander leaves. The priestess then fell into a trance, and receiving divine inspiration from Apollo, spoke in tongues that was interpreted and translated by priests into dactylic hexameter (the poetic meter used in ancient Greek epics like the Iliad.)
The Delphi site was sprawling and complex; holding the religious temple of Apollo, a stadium and gymnasium for the Pythian games, an outdoor theatre, a hippodrome for chariot races, among others. There were three philosophical phrases carved into the temple known as the “Delphic Maxims.” They were; “know thyself,” “Nothing in Excess,” and “Surety Brings Ruin.”

🏛Neuschwanstein Castle built at the end of the 19th century.
It is located in southwestern Bavaria near Füssen, in the town of Schwangau, opposite Hohenschwangau Castle.
The German name Neuschwanstein can be translated into English as New Swan stone.
Commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a personal retreat and homage to the genius of the musician Richard Wagner whom he particularly loved, Ludwig paid for the construction of the palace with his own funds without accessing state coffers.
The king loved to remain isolated from the world and this place had become a personal refuge for him, but after his death in 1886 it was immediately opened to the public, eager to visit what had been praised as an imaginative project.

Let's Create a bit of Reality
For me, of all surrealist paintings, those created by Rene Magritte are the finest by far. This unique work, painted in 1933, poses a profound challenge for the viewer. A part of reality is visible to us and the rest of it has been portrayed in the unframed painting placed in front of the window. Is there any guarantee that what is blocked by the canvas is the same as what we can see on it?* Should art serve to copy the reality or to change it? Is the artistic deception a moral act? Regardless of your responses to the questions above, one thing is undeniable: The pleasure we get from a work of art is, to some extent, experienced through the illusion and ambiguity that it sustains. And thanks to this type of fantasy, we can ride the horse of our imagination.
*Who knows? Perhaps there are four trees instead of one, or a man trying to kill another one, or two lovers making out, or some children playing hide-and seek…

The Garden of Hesperides🏛🪴🍊🍎
When the marriage of Zeus & Hera took place, many deities came to celebrate and gave them tons of endless marital gifts. Among them is the old ancestral Gaea, goddess of the earth, bringing the couple with small branches of glowing golden apples, which Hera greatly adored, and politely requested her great-grandmother to plant it within her own gardens, located on the far western reach near Mount Atlas.
For the garden, it was rumored to be in Ibiza of Spanish Balearic Islands, or within the ancient Phoenician ruins of Lixus/Lixos, modern Larache province of Morocco. (Due to the Hesperides were often regarded as “nymphs/goddesses of the far-reach West”, associated with light of the golden dawn, sunset and evening; attended and served ambrosia to many gods/deities in bridal festivities and generally been the treasure-keepers of the gods.)
P/S: On the other side, the small real-life island, Es Vedra in Ibiza - that I also included in the painting- were also rumored to be “home of the enchanting sirens & sea nymphs” in Homer’s Odyssey, but that’s going to be the story for another day.

Ciaoo im going to Berlin and I was wondering if you have any spots you recommend? Literally anything! I've never been before!! Love your blog <3
Hey, Lovely!! That sounds wonderful, I’m really happy for you :’) I’m not from Berlin, so I can unfortunately only give you rather general tips, from one tourist to another. Which is to say — when I go on holidays, I usually visit museums and bookstores. Now —
~🏛~
Museums:
On the Museumsinsel (Isle of Museums) located in the Spree in the centre of Berlin, you can find five different museums in walking distance from each other. As far as I remember there’s a ticket that’ll grant you entry into all museums on the isle for a set amount of time (a day, a weekend, a week etc), which comes in handy (although you’ll definitely need more than one day to see all of them).
In general, there are a lot of museums in Berlin, but I’ll just mention four that came to my mind immediately:
The Bode Museum is located right by the water. Architecturally speaking a beautiful museum, not too big, with a nice selection of paintings and statues. 13th to 18th century, as far as I know. I remember retables, religious art in general, classicism and renaissance pieces. But most of all I remember buying a little notebook (to take notes on the works of art I liked, which I can only recommend) in the museum’s shop and wandering through quiet halls, intricate marble floors and tall windows, and enjoying a few hours to myself, with myself, for myself.
The Pergamon Museum is probably the most well-known museum on the list. It holds both the Pergamon altar and the Ishtar gate, additional to Middle Eastern and Islamic art. However, parts of the museum are closed due to renovation (and have been when I was there last, and will be till 2023. :( ! ) — still, I definitely recommend checking out which parts are open and what you can see, because both the gate and the altar are an experience.
The Altes Museum is, for one, a very beautiful classicist building. Apart from that, it holds antique works of art, including my beloved Kylix depicting Achilles bandaging Patroclus. I also really enjoyed the Pantheon-style small round hall with the twelve olympians!
The Alte Nationalgalerie was designed to resemble a temple and build at the turn of the century. It holds both paintings and statues. The Sleeping Beauty statue is housed there, as well as The Witch by Carl Cauer, which I like a lot. There’s some Caspar David Friedrich, once again classicism and romanticism, some impressionism. When I was there last, Anselm Feuerbach’s Das Gastmahl nach Platon (The Symposium after Plato) really captured by interest. It’s hung somewhat awkwardly over the stairs near the top floors but I loved the flower-
~📚~
By the Museumsinsel, you can also find the Buchhandlung Walther König, a bookstore that specialises in art books. They have, as far as I recall, a lot of english books, and it’s just a very nice place to wander around in, with floor to ceiling shelves crammed with books. Walther König have a few stores in Germany, but the one I’m thinking of (I looked it up, Burgstraße 27) was surprisingly big. Very nice to get lost in, if you’re interested in art and art books.
Apart from that, there’s Dussmann, a bookstore with a rather large english selection and the usual planners, journals, mugs etc. I had a lot of fun in there, especially because the store only closes at 11pm, which meant that after a day at the museum, I could have dinner and still swing by a bookstore (which is honestly the ideal day for me).
Looking online, I also found Shakespeare&Sons, another english bookstore, but I have to admit that I haven’t been there last time. considering the photos I saw, I really regret that, it looks gorgeous.
~🐻~
As I said, I’m unfortunately not native to Berlin, so I really can just expose my very selective view on cities (where’s the art? where are the books?). I’d really recommend looking up those “explore by foot“ type guides, I’m sure there’s something of the sort for Berlin and in my experience, it’s most fun to just walk around and look at the buildings, parks and sights you come across.
Berlin of course has the Wall, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Bundestag, the Brandenburg Gate and the Berlin Television Tower, all places that are fun to experience on foot. Apart from that, there are the Hakesche Höfe, a courtyard complex that’s really fun to wander through. I remember most of the stores to be mainly the tourist attraction type, but the location is very nice — art nouveau facades and little spots of greenery.
There’s a lot of Bears to be seen as far as I recall (the coat of arms, plastic bear statue, memorabilia kind). Maybe try some Currywurst, if you eat meat? Every time I go to Berlin, I’m tempted, and I haven’t eaten meat in a good few years. (And if you ever find yourself without something to do, you could always consider taking a day-trip to Potsdam to look at Friedrich the Great’s summer castle Sans Soucis)
(Also, this is just a tiny side note but I never know where to shop for food when I’m travelling and somehow, that’s something most guides don’t think to tell you. So! Penny, Aldi and Lidl are all on the cheap side. Rewe and Tegut are the most common stores apart from that. You can find newspapers and magazines there, too, as well as sandwiches and other prepacked lunches, fresh produce etc. Alnatura is the biggest chain store of organic food, but the other stores usually have their own organic options. They’re market bio :)! In Rewe, Tegut and Alnatura, you should also find aisles for gluten free/lactose free products. Rossmann and dm are drug stores where you can buy band-aids, shampoo, period products, make up, skincare, over the counter pain meds, shaving cream etc etc etc)
~🐻~ Sweetheart, I hope you have a wonderful time in Berlin!!! Hopefully the weather will be nice, and hopefully the people will be even nicer 🥰!!
#This made me very nostalgic#I would love to go to Berlin again soon. And sans soucis. 😌#I could really use some ‘no sorrows’ Time in a beautiful garden right now.#Anon

• Hi it's Petrichor :) 🏛 Guys let's continue the summary of my holidays ! We went somewhere I wanted to see so much the place who impresses me. It's therefore : Sümela Manastırı / the Sumela Monastery. The Sumela Monastery is a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary, located on Melá Mountain within the Pontic Mountains in the Trabzon Province in northeast modern-day Turkey. Built in the 4th century, the monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in the Christian world. Let's read the history : The Sumela Monastery, sitting at the foot of a cliff facing the Altindere Valley in Maçka, in the Trabzon province, is known to locals as ‘Meryem Ana‘ (The Virgin Mary). The origins of its name are uncertain. Some sources say it comes from ‘Melas,’ which means black, or from the mountains on which it stands, called the Karadaglar (Black Mountains). Other experts believe that the name comes from the black color of the icon of the Virgin Mary, a very likely hypothesis as Black Madonnas in the region are a very common sight. According to one historian, the monastery was founded by two priests, Barnabas and Sophronius, from Athens during the reign of the Emperor Theodosius I (AD 375-395). It was later restored in the 6th century by General Belisarius at the request of the Emperor Justinian. It was in the 13th century that the monastery took its present-day form when it received monetary richness from the likes of Alexios III (1349-1390) of the Komnenian Empire of Trabzon (or Trebizond), an empire established in 1204. I really advice y'all to visit here. It's really different and it's make you say "how they can do this here, in mountaine". When I was talk about this monastery I didn't say something to describe. You should see with your eyes guys ! #blogwithPetrichor #blogger #personalblog #dailyblog #journal #journaling #personaljournal #routines #dailyroutines #aesthetic #studentfromFrance #trabzon #maçka #sümelamanastırı #sumelamonastery #turkey (à Sümela Manastırı) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chf0RN8o0Mu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Shadows and Illumination: The Enigmatic Abode of Devlin
Throughout Devlin's mansion, the interplay between darkness and mood lighting creates an atmosphere that reflects his familiarity with the underworld.
Foyer: As you step into the mansion, you're greeted by a grand foyer. The walls are adorned with intricate tapestries depicting scenes from Greek mythology. Soft, dim lighting emanates from strategically placed sconces, casting gentle shadows across the room. A chandelier with black crystal accents hangs from the ceiling, diffusing a subtle glow throughout the space.
Study: Devlin's study is a sanctuary of knowledge and reflection. The walls are lined with ancient tomes and scrolls, their spines shimmering faintly in the low light. A large oak desk sits in the center, scattered with parchment and quills. The room is illuminated by a combination of flickering candlelight and a desk lamp with a dark shade, creating an intimate and contemplative atmosphere.
Library: The library is a vast chamber filled with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, creating a labyrinth of knowledge. Soft, ambient lighting filters through stained glass windows, casting colorful patterns on the plush velvet armchairs and Persian rugs. The room exudes an air of mystery and intellectual curiosity, enticing visitors to explore the hidden treasures within.
Lounge: Devlin's lounge is a space for relaxation and entertainment. Deep, plush sofas and armchairs are arranged around a central fireplace, casting a warm and inviting glow. The walls are adorned with dark, richly textured wallpaper, and the room is bathed in the soft radiance of vintage lamps and strategically placed wall sconces. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, perfect for intimate gatherings or solitary contemplation.
Dining Room: The dining room is an opulent space, characterized by a long, polished mahogany table and high-backed chairs. The walls are adorned with ornate mirrors and dark, moody artwork. A grand chandelier with dimmable candles hangs above the table, casting a soft, romantic glow during meals. The room exudes an air of elegance and sophistication, perfect for hosting formal dinners.
Bedroom: Devlin's bedroom is a sanctuary of tranquility. The walls are painted a deep, soothing shade of blue, creating a serene atmosphere. The bed is adorned with luxurious, dark velvet drapes, enveloping it in an aura of privacy. Soft, ambient lighting emanates from bedside lamps, casting a warm glow across the room. A fireplace crackles softly, providing additional warmth and coziness.

(Amazon series #1) Otrera: Queen Mother Otrera (Ow-tee-reh-ra) is the queen mother of the race of Amazons. In some versions she is the initial offspring of the union between Ares and the nymph Harmonia, while in others she is the consort of Ares from which the Amazons are born; with such notable daughter heroines being Hippolyta, Antiope, and Penthesilea, among others.
Otrera and the Amazons are credited with founding the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world for its massive scale. Here, Queen Otrera and the amazons placed a statue of Artemis under an oak tree and held an annual war dance in celebration of Artemis. Some Amazons, devout followers of Artemis, and similar to the heroine Atalanta, vowed a life of chastity.
Appolonius of Rhodes describes the Amazons locations as the island of Dia, a desert island full of ravening birds in the black sea where the Amazons held their shrine to Ares. In the Argonautica, reaching the island, Jason and the heroes encounter the “Birds of Ares” which rain down feathered darts but are driven away by the loud racket of clanging armor.
The hero and giant slayer, Bellerophon, falsely accused of raping Queen Stheneboea, is sent to King Iobates of Lycia as punishment. As typical in these tales, the king wants to strategically remove the hero, and sends him on the impossible task of fighting the Amazons and Killing Queen Otrera, to punish the Amazon’s for their roles in supporting the Trojans in the war for Troy. Although not named, it’s believed that Otrera dies by Bellerophon’s hands in battle.

Matiate📍🏛 Midyat is a district of Mardin, located in the dicle region of Turkey's southeastern Anatolia. It is the meeting point of religions such as Islam, Christianity and Yezidism and languages such as Turkish, Arabic and Syriac. He is described as Matiate in Assyrian tablets of the 9th century BC. "Matiate" is an Aramaic/Syriac name and means "my neighborhood", "my homeland". The first Assyrian Christians in Midyat also lived in caves. Midyat has been besieged and plundered many times throughout history. Finally, in the dark days of World War I, in the year of the "Edict", two-thirds of the inhabitants of the town lost their lives. However, after 1930, the town was revived: churches, houses and some places were repaired. After that, the layout began to settle over time. #mardin #midyat #oldtown #cristianity #muslim #islamic #süryani #wine #history #travel #city #citycenter #photography #photooftheday #nature #turkey #europe #war #followme #sky #building #architecture #mimari #livingmybestlife #trip #summervibes #gezelimgörelim #gezi #gezilecekyerler #güneydoğuturu @goturkiye @saffetemretonguc (Mardin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTFcpcntbIF/?utm_medium=tumblr
