Filling the void with Branson musical inspo today. 🐀🎸

First of all, can I just say Marcin is freaking phenomenal? Because he is. And to boot, the sound and general mood of some of his compositions remind me very strongly of Branson.

While Branson's play style wouldn't be a carbon copy of Marcin's for a number of reasons, I would like to believe he would surprise most first time listener's with his dexterity and skill.

He is known for being a more somber and brooding character; his music often reflects this too, of course, but it also gives way to a more subdued side of him, at times. Something more confident and perhaps even a little aggressive!

Much as I've described Sal and how her music serves as an often unspoken layer to her character, so does Branson's. Those two (Sal and Branson) are more introverted than Mina and Lorien, though, so it may make sense for them to have some lesser seen colors come out whenever they play. 🎵

I haven't been looking here much for a long time and I haven't shared any academic posts for quite some time. [ cause my academic life over]

~*NOT YET done !! ok , don't be dramatic. I was just on summer vacation. I was nervously waiting for my exam results to be announced. -my old followers know that I took the university entrance exam- I also entered a comfortable period after a long time and was able to feel alive again. During this process, I gave myself time to do nothing. I was just with myself and enjoyed it. I didn't feel like doing anything anymore. (In this process, I am devoted to psychology content, writings about our feelings and self-expression. I hope to produce more conversation-personal development style content with you in the future.)

The good news is: I am now a university student!! I will study business administration in english. (maybe you know that I really want to study psychology, my first goal was to study psychology but now I am happy that I am in a different field that I want)

As you know, with the arrival of autumn, the academic term has started again, and I also need to prepare for the English preparatory exam. I will go to university at the end of September.

🎧🎼 | Mikasa and the Titans:

They all really like music—blasting it through the open windows of their cars and singing along horribly, karaokeing together on late weekend nights. Whenever they’re bored they’ll make music together in Eren’s garage for hours on end. In high school, Eren poses the idea of recording and posting covers on youtube for fun.

They upload under the name “E.M.A_covers” and it’s mostly just to show friends and family (Carla really likes to see them—never misses an upload).

One day they post a cover of “Everybody’s Fool” by Evanescence and it gains a bit more traction than their usual couple hundred views—reaching over 1,000 in under 24 hours.

Throughout the week, their numbers continue to grow until they soon reach 50k+ views.

Armin has the idea of starting an official band with original songs together.

It takes them a while to come up with a name for the band, playing around many different ideas until Armin gets frustrated.

He suggests they just stick with “EMA”.

Mikasa says it’s too boring, “What about ‘The Three Soldiers’?”

After Armin insists on making a chart of all the name possibilities, they eventually collectively frankenstein a few of the options together and get “Mikasa and the Titans”. It’s inspired by a dream Eren once had that they reference a lot in jokes.

Armin’s writing skill lands him a job as their designated lyricist. Mikasa and Eren occasionally pitch in with their own ideas and verses as well though.

Mikasa is on mic and guitar, Eren on drums, and Armin on keys.

Eren is initially very insecure about their lack of a bassist and tries to get their classmate Connie to play drums while he takes up bass, but it doesn’t work out. Connie lied about knowing how to play (he really didn't think it'd be that hard to figure out).

Armin makes up for the lack of bass by playing bass lines on the keys when necessary.

Their music definitely has a heavy indie and alternative rock/metal influence, but hey love to experiment with many different styles.

They’re pretty small but they quickly develop a very tight-knit, hardcore community through youtube. Eventually Armin figures out how to put their stuff on Spotify too.

By their second year of college, they have a few dozen thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. They do shows in their local area whenever they’re free, (which isn’t often because Armin is very committed to his studies and does not like to take breaks) and start a little merch store. Their university even hires them play at events from time to time.

They're a huge hit in their community and virtually everyone in the town knows who they are.

As a group, EMA are extremely close with one another. They do almost everything together and use "band meetings" as an excuse just to hang out. Playing together feels like being on cloud nine and they wouldn't have it any other way.

So... The other day, I shared a couple of tunes and thought "hey, why not share some here? Links are (possibly) less cursed here on Tumblr anyway." Anyway, filling the void with some more Sal vibes for everyone today. 🌌🎹

(Link-sharing struggles aside, I'm very shy about sharing music nowadays... I don't compose it like I used to either. I guess I've become more aware of how my skills as a musician are lacking compared to those as a visual artist. The insecurity gets to me. Music means a lot to me, but being passionate doesn't always equate to being skilled! However... being "good" at something shouldn't stop you from being openly passionate about it. Follow your dreams. Give that insecurity the middle finger.)

🤔 I've done a few renditions of the "Faceless" theme. Though it's not necessarily meant to be connected to Sal exclusively (heck, it was initially written for another character!) it really has her sound and energy going on. It might become a Sal song. I don’t see a specific dream, you JUST want to know if there will be some progress where you are! For most of you it’s probably career related, and for others it can be friends, coworkers, contacts in your life that just do not help you out as much as you wish they would. Knight of Pentacles shows you as on your grind, every day, without fail. You may have already put quite a lot of time into a job or project, and this reading is saying more time is needed. Not “no” just “not right now”. For some it’s due to the current Jupiter transit in Taurus, which seems to be the star of your reading. What can you do right now to prepare?

You have some heavy family dynamics that you haven’t healed from, nor have they, and your dream according to this - is a message that you receive (not send). Yet I get the feeling that even if you received one, you wouldn’t be receptive to it. The signs here show up as signs that can have a hard time setting firm boundaries with loved ones, you have experienced feeling fully responsible for someone else and being taken advantage of. Or perhaps you’ve done this to someone else.

Some of these wounds could be healed, and some of them are too far gone. Recycle is you needing to determine what is what. If someone has abused you or been cruel to you, then you owe them nothing & same for anyone else. 6th House being the House of Service shows you feel like you have to “serve” those close to you, work for them, dote on them, no. For the last question, I get a clear yes.

Only if you want to. For the relationships that are worth saving, Recycle, Transformation, and Communication all show 4444 together, which is stability, home, security, feeling safe. Positive and stable relationships. Partnership rounds it out, as something you know you should do, and also something you fear…being stuck or trapped to a situation you don’t want to be in due to “loyalty” or family. What can you do right now to prepare?

Two clear stories here that are night 🌙 and day ☀️ but both represented by 10 Pentacles, the solid family or business foundation on which we stand, what most of us are working towards, ideally.

Story 1: You are very religious or spiritual, your beliefs run deep. I don’t see a Hierophant to show them being super conservative or not, that may vary between you all. But there has been some element of “sin” in your family, either a specific person or this could be a generational trauma of some kind that is just too eerie to be a coincidence. It probably relates to things of a sexual nature, addictions, known issues & Devil related topics, and either judging these things yourself or being judged for them. I’m getting the message that if you’re a true believer, it’s not your job to judge. Give it to God, or whatever you believe in, and on your side, forgive this person for whatever it is you’re holding against them. It can be as simple as a crop top, a flirty text, or a teen pregnancy scare & the abortion/birth control debate, it could be an extremely religious background, ideals, goals, that you want your family to be a part of, or absolutely do NOT. But there is Judgment being cast where it’s not your place to cast it, it’s your place to forgive, support, and “stay in your lane”. Or break free from it altogether, if you’re the one that is being judged by people that don’t get to do that.

Whatever this is, it’s not about you anymore, it’s about the legacy you’re leaving behind for the rest of your family. Your values, your beliefs, you want to protect them and also want to stand solid & strong in your personal morals. You want to heal your family lineage and teach them the “right” way to be, whether your kids, spouse, siblings, parents even. There is a fine line there. Always be careful to only judge yourself, and everything else here is beautiful and positive for you. If healing family wounds is your goal, you have more than enough ability to do so, for some of you that’s your true calling in life, and you already know that. Possibly keeping one going, but I see this more for the ones with an idea and little else so far. You want to create something lasting and beautiful that you can pass down through the generations. The meaning behind this whole story is wholesome, and yet you’re fierce. 10 Pentacles could show you working with families as a counselor with the goal to keep them whole. Kids are here more than once. For some, it’s your inner child. Or your own children. If you spend most of your time in crowded spaces, around chaos or constant playing phones, tvs, computers, chatty people, it’s not good for what you’re trying to do here. You’re easily distracted, and part of you uses that as an excuse. This says you need to create (or transform) a space that is entirely for your creative manifestation ideas and thinking. This pile is pretty vague, but 9/10 people choosing this pile probably hate their job more than anything else - specifically. You’d all love to pick up the phone, call in, tell them to fk off and you’re never coming back GOOD DAY. Biiiitch 😆 You won’t of course, you’re too responsible for all that, and that’s the issue.

The dream itself is taking very fast, impulsive action, just waking up and deciding you’d rather do anything else but go back to this same place yet again to do the same shit yet again, to just be not appreciated and overly burdened. The only part I’m seeing you not being able to do, is the impulsive part, which you already know. But that is the dream. The advice can be a couple things. If you have the money, take a vacation. You need a break. It can be that simple, save up some money and just do it. Don’t just quit tomorrow, but start prioritizing honing these skills and crafts, whatever is your idea. There’s a whole period of trial and error, and making changes you maybe didn’t even see the first time around. If your own business is the dream, I see it having enormous potential to grow into something long lasting. Or this can be a hobby, a side hustle, an investment, any number of things but financial rewards are possible with it.

Your advice is to spend a lot more time on your own, making the necessary space and prioritizing yourself, so you have the time you need to really get clear on what you want, what it should look like, how you can schedule that in, how will it benefit you and what does it require of you? Getting feedback, with Share, is also a good idea, which doesn’t mean spill your ideas to the world but looking for other people who have done this already - tell their stories. Get inspired, network, make friends & contacts in this world you want to jump into. Then by the time you actually make moves, you’ll have more confidence, knowledge, helpful suggestions and good business sense.

If your family is what is demanding so much of your time and energy, you could need a separate space for “you stuff”. Your own thoughts, your break from chaos, everyone should have a space and you deserve one too, your family can learn that when you are in this space, leave you alone for awhile. Running isn’t the answer here, prioritizing yourself is, and this Fool can relate to you setting necessary boundaries in your life with people who think they are owed all of your time, your attention, your money, no. I don’t see kids, but in the case you have them plz don’t leave them alone to burn the house down - obviously. Within reason, you can set aside time for yourself and others have to honor it just like you would for them. If you work at home, then a workspace dedicated to you & work, and respecting these boundaries is required with you. Many people throw their weight around with their demands, expectations, preferences, yada yada ok sure. You get to have some too. Everyone does 💜 We work around & respect those boundaries and desires when we care about someone, it’s not hard. It’s more you realizing you need it. For work, they are exchanging your life for pay. Give them what they pay for, no more, and make your expectations of reward or higher status clear…in a friendly way.

Happy birthday to the one and only @writcraft! I know you probably feel this year hasn’t been as productive as you’d like fandom-wise, so this is both a reminder and a token of appreciation, a short rec list that hopes to highlight a little bit of your immense contribution to fandom. This is ofc 100% self-indulgent and my picks might be a bit too obvious - I doubt that anyone who’s been around for a while hasn’t heard of these classics before, but those who are new to the fandom (or just new to Writ’s works - I’m so jealous!) might enjoy this “starter pack” with my personal selection of must-reads.

I have often wondered how Writ could be so prolific over the years, always impressing me with such flawless depth of characterization across different ships. Now I realize this comes from the amount of passion and research they pour into their work. Writ commits to fandom - and to writing - both intellectually and emotionally, bringing together their creative, fannish, militant and intellectual sides like nobody else can do. This combination breathes life and heart into every love story they create, making them all bright and unique, inspiring universal emotions while remaining deeply personal.

ORIGIN FOR THE NAME*************

I wanted a name that could be both feminine/masculine (even if Ashley has been a woman in my head right away).

It was partially inspired by my endless love for Ash Lynx (MC in Banana Fish) and when I checked the meaning I was definetely up for it : Ashley is a given name which was originally an Old English surname. It is derived from the Old English (Anglo-Saxon) words æsċ (ash) and lēah (clearing, meadow) and translates to "Dweller near the ash tree meadow".

The contrast being that she's not at all in a green smooth sweet environment.

I also wanted something short and smooth, sounds that way to my italian ears.

Her family name Knox came also at first for the sound of it. Then I checked with my subconscius (it wans't that hidden tbh) : it's the family name for Mickey and Mallory Knox from one of my favorite movies ever "Natural born killers"

And since Ashley lives close to drugs cartels it sounded just right for me.

Happy 77th Birthday Carlos Santana!!! 🎸🎼🎤🎸🎵🎶

"Music cuts deeper than a knife"

Carlos Santana is a legend of Latin American rock, a guitarist who not only managed to achieve success on the world stage, but also to become the best of his kind. His style is unique and inimitable, and many of the tracks performed by him and his band Santana (in particular, the iconic "Black Magic Woman") are already classics and a standard that many rockers have been striving for for many years.

Carlos is able to extract from his instrument not just amazing sounds, but true feelings... The guitar in his hands is like a magic machine, and our hero himself is a true guitar magician. When asked "what is the secret of his own style", Santana answered in his usual manner:

"If there is such a thing as a secret, I think it's about not thinking about what you're doing. Emotions, passion and feelings are what we all have, and if you keep yourself open, you can let these things come out through your game..."

As one of the stars Woodstock 1969, Santana is a magnificent idol of those times of peace and love. 

About childhood

Being the son of a musician, Carlos discovered the violin at the age of 5. However, the electric guitar made a real splash for him: that momentous moment was comparable (according to the musician) to seeing a White Whale! Growing up, but not yet achieving fame, he worked as a waiter in restaurants. Looking back, Santana states: It was a valuable experience.

"It's all part of learning how to articulate impeccable honesty, whether it's cleaning or washing dishes, peeling potatoes and all that. It teaches not only discipline, but also full dedication to the cause."

But even then, in the days of hard physical labor, Carlos drew inspiration and strength from music...

"There was a jukebox installed next to the restaurant where I worked. God, I do not know how much money I have invested in this machine! I ran to him like crazy! Because if it wasn't for the music, I would have gone crazy... Day after day, I washed dishes, peeled potatoes and did all this routine work."

About collaboration with other guitarists

Carlos has been asked repeatedly how he feels about collaborating with other guitarists. The answer is more than worthy:

"Cooperation is a pure joy for me. I like to just let things unfold in front of me and see where the spirit of the music leads me. I usually tell my colleagues, "Look, dude, we don't have to play like we're in a duel. Why don't we just talk with our tools?" And it works! We are not fighting for the title of champion, we are just having our own dialogue..."

To the question "does he think about such things as scales and everything like that," our hero replied with humor:

"No, I left it all in junior high school. A friend of mine says, "Some people use pentatonics. Some people use a hair tonic. I'm drinking a gin and tonic..."

About the love of heavy metal and The Doors

You might not have guessed at all, but Carlos Santana is still a heavy metal fan! Moreover, he would not mind recording an entire album in this genre.

"I love AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Jimi Hendrix... Who is not a fan of these people? Do you know such people? Personally, I'm not!"

But at the same time, for many years now, Santana has remained a devoted fan of the band, far from heavy metal. And this is The Doors.

"When I close my eyes and play, I always think of The Doors, one of my favorite bands. I love The Doors more than anything in the world. There's something about their tracks, you know, and about Robbie Krieger... It's something inexplicable."

Memories of Woodstock

Remembering the 1969 Woodstock, Carlos winces. Alas, it was not only the most significant day of his career, but also one of the most terrible...

"That day I prayed as much as I have ever prayed in my life. I'm in front of over 100,000 people, and I'm completely in outer space... Damn it! Jerry Garcia treated me to something–you know. Substances. I didn't think it would turn out like this. I helped myself, and then we were told that our exit was very soon. I was shocked... The next thing I remember is a face saying, "If you don't play right now, you won't play at all! You have to go on stage, now!" So when I think about Woodstock, I don't even think about the notes, the songs, or the performance, I just think about how much I prayed that day..."

"You were born with your fingerprints" – about the Santana tribute bands

Given their scale, it is not surprising that there are such a huge number of Santana tribute bands today. But Carlos doesn't seem very happy about it.

"What would I say to these guys? Well... That I'm grateful, and it's a compliment that you're playing my music. But I would suggest that you find your own, because you will only be happy when you create music that is completely yours. You were born with your fingerprints. You were born with your own sound, uniqueness, authenticity, personality. It must be appreciated."

"You know, entertainment is fickle. And this is what I would advise young people to pay attention to. Today, many bands are engaged in entertainment, not music. It's like performing in Las Vegas or something. But not real music, the kind I've heard on MTV. Because these guys were really playing! They were hungry and they felt it. And that has always been my priority."

Right now, Santana is a delight just by appearing in public. However, he is actively working and devotes a lot of time to charitable activities. Santana was awarded the well-deserved title of "Legend of Latin American Music", received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was also elected to the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
