New Dragons Rising Article!

(EDIT: I blurred out the episode title last minute. I was feeling paranoid about it. Lol. And I made some last minute grammer fixes. Enjoy!)

The episode titles and descriptions for Season 2 Part 2 just dropped today! There's TONS of new info and lore to unpack. So let's get started! *SPOILERS BELOW THE THE CUT!*

1: So first off we have The Shape of Motion. (This title is clearly parodying The Shape of Water. Lol.) It seems they will be picking up a new baby dragon! Riyu is gonna be a big brother! How cute!💖 I hope Arin finds his parents too. Poor guy.😔

2: Now we have Enter the City of Temples. The Ninja must have found out about the tournament and decided to go there. But why? We're not sure yet. I would think they would want to stay away from the tournament, considering what happened in the last one.😅 Also, Kai and Bonzle are attempting to escape. So that's cool! You guys will get to see them too!

3: Next is Gathering for The Feast. Some how I get an ominous feeling about that title for some reason. Lol. Also, looks like the Ninja's earned their invites somehow and are now in the tournament! And it looks this is the episode where we'll see the return of some old Elemental Masters!

4: Now we have Inside the Maze. This episode is VERY interesting. So much to unpack! Because it's the first mention of some new artifacts. The Horns. Specifically, The Dragon Horns. Arin and the others must have heard about them in the last episode. What are these horns exactly? Are they like instrument type horns? Or literal dragon horns? We'll have to wait and see. We also have a new character called Frak! And finally, something ALL you Jaya shippers have been waiting for...

Looks like it didn't go well either. And the Ninja will have to win they way back into the tournament through a race!

6: Now we have Truth and Lies. Finally a Wu mention! But it doesn't look good. I have a feeling Ras is lying though. Or not. And we'll get some racing action from the rest of the ninjas!

7: Next is The Shattering Sword. Sounds like something from Lloyd's vision, huh? And we get to see the new character Roby giving Arin a museum tour and some new info on the source dragons! (It would be hilarious if Roby was working for Ras the entire time.😂) And here's how to pronounce Roby's name, if you're curious.

8: Next is Clues and Suspects! Tons of cool stuff in this episode! Roby has a way bigger role then I thought! There's a new character mentioned named Bleckt? (I wonder if that's a typo?) Also, FINALLY A ZEATRIX MENTION! And they're transferring her powers for some reason? The how and why are unclear. Also, this new character Bleckt is somehow connected to Arin's investigation. And possibly part of The Administration, since they mention he has an office. My guess is that these Dragon Horn thingies were confiscated by the Administration or something.

9: And here we have The Final Game. That doesn't sound good. Arin learns a "Devastating Secret about the Merge" Uh oh. Cole stays behind to protect the Dragon horns! What??? Oh no! Sora faces off against Nokt and Wyldefyre is too late to stop the "Manipulation of the Games!" OH NO. Yeah, this one is gonna be pretty chaotic. Yikes.

10: Finally, we have Elements of Betrayal. THAT'S AN EVEN WORSE TITLE! It's making me more nervous than the last one!

There's a new location called The Monastery of Gates. That I guess these Dragon Horns are at? Arin, Zane, and Cole seems like a fun combination. Should be a cool fight! And it looks like the elemental masters have lost their powers once again are going to be fighting Ras and his wolf warrior army. NoBoDy SaW tHaT cOmInG. Pfft.

Jay was sobbing into the orange luminescent cube that used to be his world, nya. he couldn't do this alone. but he needed to try.

(end of flashback)

he trudged up the stairs of the monestary, pushing that memory out of his mind. he was so angry.

he had freed everyone from the clutches of that stupid damn game. except one. Nya.

somehow when she got cubed.. something went wrong. nobody knew why she hadn't came back. thats what pissed him off. he had failed to save the only person he loved, and nobody even knew why.

he stormed off to his room, ignoring the worried glances he got from the newly freed ninja.

he made it to his bed, flopping down on it and just sobbing. his real parents were right to leave him on a doorstep, a junkyard is right where he belongs.

After an uncomfortable slumber, he awoke to the sound of someone knocking on his door. he groaned. he didn't wanna hear from anyone right now.

He slowly pulled himself up, too tired to notice.. the water that littered his floor. which was definitely weird, the monestary didn't usually randomly have water leaking from anywhere. especially not his room.

when he opened the door, he found zane standing there with a worried look on his face. " hey jay? how are you doing? " zane asked, even though he knew the answer. jays tear stained eyes were enough of a hint. " not.. good.. " jay mumbled. Zane immediately hugged him, which was way out of character for him. zane never hugged anyone. jay accepted the hug, as zane came into his room, still having his arm wrapped tightly around jay.

" woah- your floor is covered in water. what in the name of ninjago happened? " Zane said, stepping over the puddles of water to jays bed. " I dunno. " jay said, sniffing as he was placed onto his bed. he leaned his head on zanes shoulder, sniffing.

Zane decided itd be a good idea to stay with jay tonight. so once he fell asleep, he also layed down and fell asleep.

in the middle of the night, jay awoke, startled. he heard water splashing, and he looked over to see Zane snoring next to him. what the hell was all that water? that's when he saw it.

a figure standing in the corner, covered in water. nya.

" nya!! " jay screamed, running towards her. but she got further and further away from him. " ꒐̶i̶m ̶s̶o ̶s̶o̶r̶r̶y ̶j̶a̶y." nya said, but her voice was all distorted and muffled.

then, jay woke up. that was a horrible nightmare.

he then noticed a blue light leaking out from just outside his bedroom door. not this again. it reminded him of the door to.. prime empire.

jay got up, slowly walking towards his bedroom door. he creeked it open, and only saw blue. he stepped slowly into the blue light.

when his vision finally focused again he noticed nya in the void of blue. it was only her, and she was crying.

" .. nya?.. is it really you this time? "

jay croaked out, stepping towards her.

" jay?? jay!! " nya screamed, running towards him and embracing him tightly. " oh god.. you don't know how much I wanted you to get my message. I can't- I can't get out of here! I'm trapped! wait- we're trapped!! "

jay then realised that as well, and like a lost dog, he spun around, noticing the same door he came through, still there. he grabbed nyas hand, dragging her towards the door. he jumped through it, throwing nya through. if he didn't make it through, he was making sure she would.

he landed roughly on the floor, he immediately rolled over, trying to grab hold of nya. when he finally did, he burst into tears and hugged her tighter than he ever had before.

" I thought you were gone forever nya! " he shouted, sniffing and choking on his sobs.

then zane shot up from the bed, running over to both of them. " nya?! jay- are you both okay?! "

" I'm okay! jay- oh god you're bleeding!! " nya screamed, grabbing him up from the floor. he hadn't even realized he had hit his head hard on the floor and it was bleeding pretty bad.

he still didn't let go of nya. he was so terrified she'd disappear again. nya sat him down on the bed, not trying to pull him off of her at all. whilst zane went to go get something to stop the bleeding on his head. this would be a delight to explain to the other ninja and master wu.

once jays head was taken care of, nya was scared that he might have a concussion. he hadn't spoke a word, just cried and whimpered and clung onto nya.

she layed him down in bed, staying next to him as they both slept.

everything would be alright.

⛰️Mermaid lore/World Building

One of the first things I would do is to alter the magic system. The way that the girls turn into mermaids is not viable for them to keep it a secret, which is fun for the series but definitely needs a rework. For example, in this universe, body fluids, of any living being, would not turn the girls into mermaids, so they can cry, kiss, cut themselves, and have their periods without worries. The proteins of such fluids would work as an antidote for the mermaid reaction. They would also be able to use some products such as moisturizers as long the concentration of water was less than 90% and there is fats incorporated into the product.

There is a lot I want to establish for the magic system, including the biological/science driven characteristics and how they interact with the magical ones. Also, the origin of mermaids, since there's both sea born mermaids and magic born mermaids.

I would use the Mako Island spin off as a star point to write mermaid lore, but since this show creates a lot of its lore to justify plot points and not the other way around, and its already and AU I would not stick to it too vigorously.

The other thing I really wanna bring into a bigger focus is how having to carry the burden of this secret affects the girls, how they were before all that, what changed in them? There is so much to explore when it comes to this.

🐙About other characters and seasons

For me to have a good idea for Belle arc I will have to re-watch season 3, also I will probably keep Emma around. I already kinda have a idea for Charlotte, but since there is a big debate if she is an bad person or not on the internet I will watch seson 2 very carefully to make any further decisions about her intentions, one thing I know for sure is that she is a at least a gray character.

I also wanna tap into some character of Mako Island, mainly because I really like Evie, bring more of an important role for Louise as a guide for the girls, and add just a tiny more character/relevance weight for Miriam.

🏖Overall feel

I would love to keep the original feeling of fresheners, fun, and elevated slice of life. I'm not the type of person to dismiss campness for "dark realism" (think the Winx live action), instead, I like to dive into it and explore in a deeper way.

For me to approach all the subjects in the best way, I would have to write it to be PG 13, the age range of the main cast would start at 15 and end at 19 and they would talk about teen topics in a open, but not explicit, way. I would also rampant the violent, risk of death or death scenes by having more consequences for them instead of just writing if off in the next episode.

That's all for now... If I would ever write this fanfic, it would take me a long time since I'm out of practice, and I would want to make it very immersing with great character arcs. I just don't know if I have this ability for now, but I won't completely shut down the idea.

Random Ninjago headcanons bouncing around my brain

❄️•Zane gets called Elsa so often that it becomes second nature to everyone (besides Wu, Misako, etc) to call him Elsa. P. I. X. A. L doesn't call him Elsa but she does call him her "snowflake" or "ice Prince"

🌊• Nya is one of the tallest members on the team (Cole is the tallest, then Zane and Nya comes third)

🔥🌊• Before they reunited with their parents in Hands of Time Kai and Nya went back to their home town and visited their families blacksmith shop as often as they could. They usually just talk about funny childhood memories while walking around the shop. One of their kind neighbours offered to look after it when Kai and Nya left to join Master Wu and the ninja officially.

🔥🌊/💚• when they were younger Nya would sometimes find it hard to sleep so she'd sneak into her brothers room as quietly as she could and curl up against his back. Even before unlocking his elemental powers Kai's body heat was slightly higher than normal making him a walking talking heater so the heat of his body, the reassurance that she wasn't alone and he wasn't going anywhere usually lulled her to sleep but on the off chance it didn't she'd wake him and ask him to tell her stories. Kai became really good at making up stories on the fly and when Lloyd came into the picture years later Kai would tell him bedtime stories if he was finding it hard to sleep.

⚡️🪨• Cole and Jay have matching friendship bracelets. When he's nervous or doesn't know what to do with his hands Jay messes with the bracelet as a way to ground himself. Neither of them ever take the bracelets off even during the events of Rebooted + Tournament Of Elements when they were fighting over Nya they both REFUSED to take them off.

🌊⚡️• Jay was the one who taught Nya how to do makeup.

🔥⚡️• Kai and Jay tie for shortest members on the team.

🪨• While he doesn't work as a lumberjack anymore, Cole still goes out into the forest near the monastery and chops wood. He finds it helps him let off steam.

❄️• Zane enjoys wordsearches, in the evening after dinner he'll sit in his armchair, a cup of tea beside him (for the aesthetic- he's a robot he can't drink tea) and do his wordsearch until its time for nightly patrol.

🔥• When blacksmithing wasn't working out and money was tight, Kai would babysit some of the younger kids in their small village for extra cash. He thought that might entice Nya to make friends, but she was a lone wolf type often holding herself up in her room tinkering or down in the blacksmith shop.

🌊• Nya would venture down to her villages local dump and salvage parts from the old appliances. She would bring them home and tinker with them in her room.

Jay: it's not that he dislikes Jay, he's just his least favorite. He's loud, and always screaming. And that's a lot sometimes. 📣📢💙

Lloyd: The son of the woman he wanted to be with but chose his brother instead. He's family, obviously, but he's still bitter on the inside. 🚫💍😭💚

Kai: He can be a little bit self centered and arrogant at time. And Wu thinks that can be so annoying when it comes up at the wrong moment. He also tries to do stuff on his own, so they don't bond like the others do.😏🔥🔥❤️

Pixal: They spend ALL of that time together on the bounty, of course they've bonded. With all of the contraptions she builds, Master Wu just gets to embrace the new technology and he's so proud of her, and so proud to have her on the team.🤖🪛⏳️💜

Zane: His father made him leave, of course Wu is like a father to him. Zane will do everything he asks, he'll be practically perfect every time. And he's still nice and caring. Definitely a favorite.🥰👌🧊🤍

Cole: Cole ran away from home first, and found Wu first. They had all of that time to bond and talk about things, and train. They definitely bonded like a father and son. Plus, did you SEE the way they interacted in MotM??? Hilarious. Cole does what he's asked, just like Zane, but still makes jokes and whatnot, still tries to have fun. And this old man needs to have some fun.🎉⛰️��🖤

Nya: when she, y'know, 💧🌊🌊👩, Master Wu went absolutely INSANE trying to bring her back. Plus the time she was trying to figure out how to use her powers, he was always there with the buckets. Plus the time before her powers, they were always together on Destiny's Bounty. She's fistey, and she's independent, and he's watched her completeky grow as a person, from Samurai X to The Water Ninja. She is his favorite, 100% ❤️🤍💕😘💫🎉🖤💙💜💞🌊

The Golden Weapons now include the Spear of Water (too easy, I know 🤷‍♀️). We got the Underwater Castle as the home of the weapon and the dragon 🐉🐉

Nya's suit is probably gray? I like Nya having her own color honestly, I'd go with that

Nya does considerably less rushed decisions than her brother BUT she is very prideful and tends to take initiative, very often going solo. She bumps heads with Cole a lot over leadership, they are friends but she takes a bit to value teamwork

She's less interested in the Green Ninja as a title and more as the best one can aspire to when practicing martial arts 💪💪

Yes the key for the true potential will still be not being afraid of failure 🌊

The Underwater Castle is in a bubble like structure that will get flooded while the others escape on a submarine. Then Nya will come out through a water vortex saving Lloyd I ADORE THIS SCENE IN EVERY UNIVERSE NOT SORRY 😍😍

Kai is the blacksmith and he is... very bad 😂

At the very beginning he makes such weirdly shaped weapons (squared and heart shaped and a spoon?), the guys don't really get why he makes them since they have the Golden Weapons 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

But he does his absolute best, improves, and by the time The Mega Weapon is forged he makes some pretty good weapons for them all 😊

There is no Samurai X but there is the Red Shogun 😏😏

The secret would last less than it did with Nya, buuuut it's actually Jay that finds out first and Kai begs him not to say as he wants to help in something other than being a blacksmith 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cue Jay coming up with the weirdest stories to cover him...

"KAI? HE FORGOT TO TURN OFF THE HOUSE IN THE OVEN"

"KAI? I DON'T KNOW HIM"

The date happens later anyway, Jay is trying to impress with all he has because knowing Kai is the Red Shogun already he feels like he's not good enough for someone this cool...

Most of season 2 doesn't change, Jay is the one doing the engineering instead of Nya (A SACRIFICE THAT MUST BE DONE 😭 But I also miss engineer Jai so 🤷🏻‍♀️), Kai gets corrupted by the dark matter towards the end and... he gets a smooch from Bizarro Jay (he's a mixture of very pissed off and very delighted after that 😏😏)

We all know that the love triangle of Rebooted is silly so it's hard to even consider it but okay 😅😅

Kai doesn't like machines anyway so I don't think he would care so much, then again Jay will still find out about the perfect match so cue jealousy? I guess? Probably he's still insecure about himself so he puts it on Cole (I STILL DON'T LIKE IT BUT IT WILL HAVE TO DO)

Cole doesn't hit on Kai and Kai doesn't on Cole, and there is mostly a big tension because Jay feels bad about the situation but he really doesn't want to lose Kai because he likes him so much...

Nya doesn't have Kai's hate for technology, but she lacks game knowledge so good luck in the Digiverse 😅

Nothing else change, at the end Kai asks Jay for a break because after Zane's "death" he doesn't feel like he can stand this tension and wants to reconsider himself. Jay doesn't hate Cole and he generally pushes away everyone, so does Cole

Nya makes the speech at the funeral, and they all part anyway 😢😢

Nya is still with Lloyd most of the time, Kai is still in underground tournaments and he actually learns some more moves

Tournament of Elements is mostly the same too. Nya takes Kai's place into the actual tournament of course... and I kinda really like the idea of a phoenixshipping situation? 🧡❤🧡❤

It's Skylor and Nya flirting in the most obvious and smirky way 😗

The Cole vs Jay match is less hostile, it's more Cole trying to finally break through Jay and let him tell what's bothering him and why did he get so far away. Jay will reveal he doesn't feel as great as Cole or as anyone else and that Kai could have much better than him, especially after he acted over a matching machine and own insecurity. Plus he's the worst friend for pushing away everyone

Cue Cole beating all compliments and positivity into Zaptrap's thick head because BROTP BRUISE AM I RIGHT 🖤💙🖤💙

I actually think the "Kai betrayal" could work with Nya too, a calculated plan that ends up with the staff. Nya is still onto the perfectionist path so the fact that Lloyd, a kid who started martial arts much later than her, became the green ninja, deep down bothers her and she says this

Then the rest doesn't change... although I think Nya wouldn't miss the opportunity and she would get that kiss 🧡❤🧡❤

When Lloyd gets possessed we are back at the leadership problems of the very beginning but with more problems: Nya wants to lead, Cole intervenes, Jay wants to try to and Zane... actually knows what he's doing 😅

Nya might be afraid of fire? Idk, could be cool to see that 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kai discovers to be a fire master and starts his training 🔥🔥

Kai has problems finding his weakness for several reasons, and besides being too arrogant to find some immediately, the biggest one is right under his nose so he doesn't notice right away...

Instead of a bucket, Kai has three candles lined up with only one burning. Wu states that another candle needs to be burning, but Kai can't use other objects or directly touch the candle. He tries all day, to no avail. He holds on for way longer than Nya did, he can't give up

And that's the point. Nya was afraid of failure. Kai is afraid of giving up

When he does quit at last, Wu simply burns the candle himself, since only Kai wasn't supposed to touch it. Basically all Kai had to do was stop being so stubborn.

I don't think Ronin and Kai would get along as he and Nya did 😂😂 Kai would just try to burn his pants...

And for the aero-blade Nya actually gets Ronin to lower the price. She's good, Ronin actually offers her to be partners 😎

But he refuses to give up the scroll of airjitsu so they still need to break in

Kai unlocks his true potential when instead of fighting alongside his friends he steps away in order to prepare a bigger attack, and it is a massive fire storm 🔥

I kinda wanna leave Delara as Nya still for Skybound? Nadakhan mostly kidnaps Kai and the others out of vengence for what happened to his realm

Kai is unsure about where he wants to go with Jay, he knows he cares about him but so much happened lately between getting Zane back and him being a ninja, so... he asks Jay to have some more time

Due to this tense situation Kai doesn't give Jay his hand for the airjitsu, he lost Jay before as a friend too and he wants to give him a direct answer this time🤚

Most stuff is the same, cue Cliff Gordon's awful advices, cue Cole best bro 🖤🖤🖤

They all disappear at the end, Nadhakan takes Nya out so he can marry her. Meanwhile Jay's team of secondary characters save the day and once out of the sword first thing Kai hugs Jay ❤💙

Attacking Nadakhan goes the same, but Kai goes the extra mile to protect his sister so the venom hits him

Same scene of death, Kai states that death is not enough to extinguish his flame of love

In rewind they kiss still 🥰🥰🥰

I don't think much would change from then on, at least in general. I think there will be some conflict between Kai and Nya, because I think the ninja thing comes much easier to Kai since he is the never giving up type, which is a ninja very first rule. Nya is more rational at first, they learn from each other most likely

So yeah, Hands of Time goes as expected since they are both ninja now. The Samurai thing is something Pixal comes up with during that time, with the suit and everything, and Kai is basically pissed that the Red Shogun wasn't that cool 😂 The focus stays on the parents though

Sons of Garmadon follows this idea, at the end Kai stays behind with Lloyd

Hunted is similar, Kai gets pretty into protecting Lloyd at all costs, they all get reunited at the end with lots of Plasma and Phoenixshipping moments ❤💙❤🧡

Dante gets horribly sick from eating the underworld’s fruit because he wasn’t born a chthonic deity like his brother, so he has to actually go through the process of becoming something of the dead. Zane has no idea if he’s going to actually die because on one hand, Dante is an immortal god, but on the other, he hasn’t heard of more than one god surviving eating their fruit (mostly because no one but chthonic gods come to the underworld and want to eat), so he watches over him while his mother shoulders his usual duties.

(Chthonic = connected to the underworld, not sure if you also had an “obsessed with greek mythology” phase so I figured I should clarify)
