She didn’t care whether he accepted or denied her help, she was going to go get him anyway. After all, he was her friend! And friends didn’t let friends be stranded places! Ty Lee snuck to the family car, sure that none of her siblings would want to use it at this time. Her parents would be mad at her for sneaking out this late, but it was for Zuko’s sake.

          Incidentally, today’s forecast in Paris was sun. Not exactly the warmest weather on Earth, no, but it easily beat the rain that was currently pouring down on London. Herb had opted to stay indoors and work on inventions while Scarlet, itching for something to do outside, had decided it was time for yet another trip south of the English Channel.

          It wasn’t long after she landed, though, that she could hear a very familiar, very incensed voice. If Scarlet had had a drink in her mouth, she would’ve spat it out, but as it was, she merely leaned against the wall and listened. As the voice of the spotted superheroine drew closer, Scarlet lifted her chin up, put on her loftiest expression, and gave a slow clap as soon as Ladybug came into view.

          “My, my, I would never have expected such a do-gooder as yourself to spew such profanity,” she taunted, mostly for her own amusement. Hey, she needed something to do, why not bother the superhero just because she could? “Why, I almost never curse like that, even on my worst days.”

          Stretching her arms as she stepped out of the shadows, a dramatic entrance if she may say so herself, she continued. “Must be some day, hm? I do hope it’s not me that’s got you so enraged. I hate to inform you, but I’ve done absolutely nothing illegal today.” Well, besides parking her jet in a no-parking zone, but that didn’t count.

There's no indication as to who the package of pastries is from, but given that it's sitting carefully atop a still-warm chimney perch and wrapped in bright ruby red paper, it's probably easy to guess. She was always a fan of the idea of holiday truces, anyway, and besides, who doesn't like assorted chocolate pastries?

          Christmas night was spent in London, in a warm castle lit by extravagant decorations. But the night after, the villainess found herself back on the Parisian rooftops, streaking through the starlit sky after nothing in particular except a little bit of evil.

          But the opportunity to cause trouble was not what Scarlet found–quite the opposite, in fact. A gift, wrapped in bright red paper, with her name on it. Scarlet blinked as she took the package in gloved hands, turning it over as she looked for a sender’s name. But, as she expected in the back of her mind, there was none to be found.

          A brief “heh” escaped her lips as she tried to figure out who exactly this was from. Who else hung about the Parisian skyline? Who else, indeed. Scarlet quirked a brow as she wondered exactly how Ladybug would know her favorite routes around town. Maybe she just got lucky.

          Noting that the spotted superheroine didn’t seem the type to leave traps for her enemies (unless she took one too many a leaf from Scarlet’s book), Scarlet sat cross-legged on the rooftop, opening the gift. A smile of pure delight burst across her face when she saw what was inside–chocolate pastries! And they looked so delicious, too! Did Ladybug know that chocolate was her favorite? She couldn’t. It wasn’t like Scarlet robbed bakeries–heck, any time she visited one, she bought the goods as if she were a law-abiding citizen.

          With a chuckle, Scarlet shook her head, gathering the box to take back to her home. “Damn you, Ladybug. Now I’ve gotta get you something, too.”

          “That’s all? Hm. Not bad, not bad.” Indeed, it could’ve been worse. Scarlet liked to boast of her impeccable ability to escape arrest, but she knew full well that not everyone possessed such skill. And thus, she’d allowed herself the tiniest wince of sympathy when she’d heard of what happened to her fellow villain.

“He’s been threating to kill me.”

          Scarlet’s blood ran cold at the reporter’s revelation. So that was the kind of person she was dealing with–not just some jerk, but…oh, this would not do. Not at all. Instinctively she inched closer to Roxanne, as if expecting this man to come jumping out of the shadows in an attempt on her friend’s life.

          “Well, he’s not going to be doing that,” the villainess declared, her voice a low and dangerous growl. “Not on my watch. And if he tries anything…” Her voice trailed off, but the message was clear. Mess with Roxanne and you mess with Scarlet, and as the greatest villain of all time, messing with Scarlet was perhaps the gravest mistake one could make.

          “You can stay here any time you like,” she offered, anger still flaring in her emerald eyes, though the smile she gave Roxanne was one of reassurance. Well, as reassuring as she could be with a vision of pure, boiling red. “My castle is incredibly secure–you’d have to be a super genius to break in.”

“Why are all these big men making speeches to me?!”

Because I’m Really ****ing Strong.

          Instantly Scarlet let out a groan of sympathy. She’d been there, standing on high heels at the receiving end of some big man’s speech ‘correcting’ her about something she already knew, whether about villainy, history, or something else she loved. Or some other big man’s speech about how she was clearly making the wrong choices in life, she should be settling down with some man, preferably him (she already had a husband, thank you very much) and raising a family. It had proved to be quite the irritating experience.

          “What sort of speech?” she questioned, placing her hands on her hips. “Some of the speeches big men make I find are best met with a punch to the vocal cords.”

          Of course, there were some big men whose speeches Scarlet certainly didn’t mind listening to. Some who were tall, pinstriped, super geniuses. But that was beside the point. Despite their opposing positions as villain and hero, Scarlet did feel sorry for Ladybug. She’d be frustrated, too, if this was her it was happening to. She supposed villains weren’t necessarily the only things the spotted heroine had to deal with.

          Wait a second…

          “Say, it wouldn’t happen to be one of those akumas, would it?” she asked, the thought suddenly crossing her mind. “Perhaps someone made fun of someone else’s speech and so the speaker forced everyone to repeat their speech that probably deserved to be made fun of?”

"I've got this handbag I bought the other day and honestly it doesn't go with a THING in my closet. But then I remembered that one gown you've got and I thought it would go PERFECT so--" She presented the bag-- inside of a gift bag. "Enjoy your SPONTANEOUS gift." For a female reporter who spent most of her time being KIDNAPPED by villains, it was nice to be amicable with one.

          It was always nice to hang out with Roxanne–even when their time spent together was interrupted by some pesky superhero looking to rescue the damsel in ‘distress’. Scarlet didn’t have many people she’d consider a close friend, and it was with the excitement of spending time with a friend that she made sure her castle was extra secure.

          Thus, she found it quite easy to relax in the reporter’s presence, listening to her every word with a laid-back smile. But then she did something that surprised her.

          “For me?” Scarlet gasped with wide emerald eyes as she took the gift bag in slightly hesitant hands. And Roxanne was right, it did match one of her gowns perfectly! The glistening gold, the plush magenta…oh, it was exquisite. Her smile brightening, the villainess leapt forward and enveloped the other woman into a squeezing hug.

          “Oh, it’s wonderful! Thank you!”

Talon missed his mother more than anything. Why did he run away and for so long? Well, he was used to it but he'd forgotten that he's not with his uncle anymore. The moment he saw her red dress he flew into her arms. "Mommy, I'm sorry! Don't be mad. I... I'm so sorry."

          That shade of purple. Scarlet knew that shade, she knew it like Herb’s striped teal and her own bright crimson…but she hadn’t seen her darling child for so long. Could she dare hope…?

          When he’d ran away, she’d been so worried, and so, so devastated. She’d never stopped searching–what if he needed her help? Oh, the mere thought that something could happen to him while she wasn’t there to protect him was truly horrifying.

          So when she saw Talon, her breath caught in her throat. And before she knew it, she’d bolted across concrete and wrapped him in one of the tightest hugs she could muster.

          “I’m not mad,” and she was crying at this point but she didn’t care, that was part of her family whom she almost thought she lost, perhaps not for forever but any time was way too long of a time, and she was just… “I’m just…I missed you! So damn much! Where’ve you been; I was so worried and I’m so glad you’re okay and here and…”

          “That doesn’t mean you have to take it,” Scarlet replied with a frown, crossing her arms in front of her chest. She’d been called worse, too, and that didn’t matter–if someone walked up to her saying those things, calling her that, he’d get clouted in the face!

          “That was just…ugh, that was terrible of him! I have no patience for men like that. If I’d have met him…”

“ Let’s take them on. I feel like I’ve never felt. You and me, let’s take them. ”

          There were about…twenty guys tops? Maybe more like nineteen. Whatever, now was not the time to perfectly count them all, as they had the two women surrounded in a heist gone terribly, terribly wrong. (Scarlet blamed neither herself nor Shego for this–they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time…while carrying bagfuls of stolen artifacts.)

          Scarlet’s confident smirk, however, never wavered. How cute these goons were, to think they could take on either of them alone, much less together. Oh, were they in for a terrible surprise.

          Adrenaline as well as a rush of affection for her partner pumping through her veins, Scarlet gave her a nod in response. Her fists curled, she moved into a battle-ready stance, giving the men something between a grin and a toothy snarl.

          “Now that sounds splendid.”

          “Hm?” With a blink of emerald eyes, Scarlet pulled the earbud out one ear, attention now fully trained on Kelsey. It took her a few seconds to register exactly what the child asked, but once she did, she couldn’t help but chuckle.

          “Something not a lot of people expect me to listen to,” she replied, a grin on her face as she offered Kelsey the earbud, pressing play on her iPod once again. “I’ve been told I don’t look like the kind of person who’d listen to this…but really, who are they to judge?”

          “No, but I could tell you something that missed you.” With gritted teeth, Scarlet massaged her knuckles with her other hand–she didn’t expect the thing to have metal skin! Thus, it made for quite a painful punching experience. But, at least… “That shot that would’ve knocked you clean out. You’re welcome, by the way!”

          All she wanted was a box of macarons, damn it. Not a painting or a jewel or a stack of cash, just some sweets! And she’d heard of this very lovely-sounding bakery from some Parisian locals, and she was on her way there to actually buy the cookies when she’d heard the sounds of battle break out not far away.

          “Did you say these things are caused by negative emotions? Do they get more vicious when the person feels worse and worse?” Grimacing, Scarlet pulled out an old pocket watch from a pocket in her dress. It was getting rather late, she noticed–she and Herb had plans to go out for dinner that night, and she would need so much time to clean herself up after that fight!

          Why she’d sprung in and helped, Scarlet wasn’t quite sure herself. She could see that Ladybug was very much losing this battle, and there were no other superheroes in sight (how many of them were there now? Scarlet could barely keep track). And for some reason, the thought of possibly watching the superheroine getting badly defeated didn’t sit well with her–she was a villain, not a monster. And these akuma were just as much of an inconvenience to her.

          With a huff, she closed her pocket watch, pulling a face as she glanced at her disheveled appearance in the metal’s reflective surface. “In any case, I need to get going. I’m a busy woman and I can’t stay long.”

          “Ha! I’ll see about that myself.” Oh, her mind was almost certainly made up, and once it was, there was little that could change it.

          Scarlet stared. She tried to understand memes, she really did, but it seemed like every day there was something new and odd. How do the kids keep up with all of this?

          “…I don’t know what either of those mean.”

          “…Interesting.” She’d seen villains with pet chickens, pet robots…hell, even a pet moose. But a pet shark was a first. Clearly this Vector was either rich enough to buy one, or gutsy enough to steal one. Which one it was, Scarlet was unsure of, but she knew that either option could present its own set of complications.

          “Anything else you notice about him? When he pulled that stunt, did you notice any possible weaknesses?”
