a moment to acknowledge tessa gray's bravery and strength. like, she is immortal, she knows everyone she meets and everyone she loves will die (save perhaps her warlock friends, who also go through that), and yet she keeps on loving. she doesn't let the fact that she *won't* die tomorrow keep her from living. and, when tragedy and death visit her loved ones, she grieves, but yet she keeps on choosing to love. she loved will and their children with all her heart, but she lost them and everyone that came after them. and yet she still loves them. and she still loves jem, and she marries jem, and she adopts a child, and she has a child, and she loves them too with all her heart, even knowing she will lose them all one day and will have to keep living. she's strong in the way she chooses to keep loving

A happier thought the Kit letter created: Kit helping Tessa in the garden, debating with her about how good different movie adaptations of books are, showing Mina the big fuzzy bees bumbling around, deciding what flowers to plant together, Kit getting to spend a lot of time outdoors during the day and getting a bunch of freckles in the summer...
stop bc the fact that kit is so loved by jem and tessa and mina is messing me up. like he finally has that; after so long he has a family who would not only protect him with their lives, but who also love and accept him just as he is, who hug him, talk to him and most importantly, show him that he is loved <3

ur mom is a grade a bitch
Listen here, and listen well. My Mother was a respectable woman. I will NOT let you drag the name of the late and great Louisa Miriam Elliott.
She was a great woman, she taught me everything I know, she even showed me how to be worthy enough. My Mother was wonderful, and to insinuate she was a bitch is to call me a bitch too, for shame, anon, for shame.
Were you raised in a bloody barn, mate?
But you? You're nothing but a putrid little excuse of a life form, you absolute brain dead dingle-berry

can you recommend for me a good historical romance with a heroine who is in STEM?
I read one good earl deserves a lover on your recommendation and I really liked Pippa. do you have other books with heroines like her?
Sure! Here they are:
In Want of a Viscount by Lorraine Heath (pub date 2/20/24): The heroine is a businesswoman and inventor who invented the typewriter (or a better version of it) and is very interested in engineering. The hero clocks this and even takes her out on dates to see Big Ben (no, not a euphemism but Stuff does happen up there) and to a club so she can disassemble a roulette wheel and I thought he was very hot for that.
Convergence of Desire by Felicity Niven: The heroine is so focused on proving Fermat's Theorem that she agrees to a marriage of convenience to a local rake so she can focus on math while he's allowed to fuck anyone he likes (he predictably can't get it up for anyone but her shortly after their marriage).
My Kind of Earl by Vivienne Lorret: The heroine accidentally incites a riot in a brothel and escapes by using one of her experiments, a beetroot bomb that makes everyone pink. She's generally an inquisitive, experimental sort from what I remember.
Knockout by Sarah MacLean: Another gal with a penchant for explosives, Imogen tinkers with explosives in her brother's basement, but don't worry it's for a good cause, namely her vigilante group, the Hell's Belles. Her expertise is also called upon to investigate a series of bombings.
When a Scot Ties a Knot by Tessa Dare: Maddie does animal illustrations for scientific books for naturalists and dreams of f illustrating multi-issue encyclopedias. A subplot in this books does involve lobsters fucking so Maddie can illustrate them accurately.
The Detective Duke by Scarlett Scott: I'm pretty sure the heroine in this one invented the first electric frying pan.
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare: The heroine goes around fixing clocks in aristocrats' houses before she accidentally becomes a governess for the slutty hero's new wards, and her one true passion is astronomy and looking for comets.

Hi! I was wondering if you could do a Daeron x Rhaena moodboard? Thanks in advance!
“Oh no!” The maiden cried, “Do not leave me! For you will die and I shall never see you again. I shall be doomed to a life of eternal hallow.”
..
..
..
..
The warrior cupped her face as delicately as glass, “I must fight! I must fight to protect you, to protect the realm. My dear maiden, if the realm falls, then I have failed you.”
“And if you never return?” She cried in horror.
“Then look for me in the sky, in the sea, in the fickle grass beneath the swarming trees. For it is there that you will see me, feel me, and hear me.”

✩🔭📔Review:
A delightfully funny and steamy regency romance!
“The Duchess Deal” set the bar high and unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love this one, “The Governess Game” didn’t quite measure up to it. I really liked Alex as a character. She is intelligent, ambitious, passionate, and does not put up with any nonsense. Her relationship with Rosamund and Daisy was incredibly endearing and their dynamic was so fun. I love how she worked hard to win them over with the goal of making sure they felt wanted and loved when they initially felt otherwise under Chase’s care.
What fell flat for me was Alex and Chase’s romantic relationship. While their banter was hilarious, I wasn’t sold on their chemistry. This may be in part due to Chase’s character. He is introduced as an rogue-ish rake that cannot love, but that changes on a dime the moment he meets Alex. If he gradually became charming, sweet, and caring over time, I think I would have been more invested and more willing to put up with the push/pull of their relationship.
This book may not be my favorite in the series, but it was still an entertaining read!

lol every time I recommend a Tessa Dare book, I remember when she was like "I actually think it would be cool if that character was gay in the adaptation", and they all started freaking out because Tessa knows Julia Quinn in real life and this NATURALLY meant that character would be gay in the show, which was NOT AT ALL something they had an issue with except it WOULD ruin their lives
so they started accusing Tessa (who, again, bothered them because she knew Julia Quinn) (and is a very successful romance writer in her own right, and probably one of the most successful in the past 20 years until she took her writing break) of like... clout chasing?
that shit was some of the most ridiculous web behavior I've ever seen fr
#not like the most egregious but by far some of the dumbest logic#and also again... further proof that a lot of these people never read those damn books or any other historicals lol#i mean if they did i feeeeeeeel like they would've heard of tessa dare--as mainstream as her books are?

Any good marriage for convenience romance books?
I actually had a hard time with this one because there are so many historicals where the marriage is convenient for one party, or like, convenient in that otherwise she'll be "ruined" or she's possibly pregnant. But here are some of the ones where both parties agree to marry without any (or much) external pressure:
Historical:
Convergence of Desire by Felicity Niven: Harry wants to devote her energies to proving Fermat's Theorem (which I now know way too much about) rather than being out in society, and Thomas needs a rich wife, so they decide to marry and Harry even says he can sleep with whoever after they marry..... unfortunately this man is only able to get it up for her soon enough.
Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl by Grace Callaway: Fiona wants to be free to continue her work as a member of an investigative agency, Lady Charlotte's Society of Angels, and Hawk wants to marry but without any emotional entanglements and to continue his spy work, so they agree to a marriage of convenience where neither party will hinder the other.
How the Wallflower was Won by Eva Leigh: After fucking up his sister and best friend's (DOM MFING KILBURN) marriage, Finn needs to marry or he'll be cut off, and Tabitha wants to join an influential intellectual society that only admits married women, and so marriage it is.
The Scot of Mine by Sophie Jordan: Kind of a marriage of convenience? Except the terms aren't laid out super clearly beforehand and Clara's brother does have a hand in the marriage, but this one is too funny to not include. Clara lies about being pregnant to escape marriage to an asshole, but when she's sent to Scotland, she meets Hunt, a laird who has a generational curse on him which means he will die before his heir is born. So Hunt decides to marry her because she's pregnant with someone else's baby so obviously, he won't die!
Except, well, it's a lie, and he finishes inside her multiple times after they're married so........
The Beast of Beswick by Amalie Howard: Astrid proposes marriage to Thane, a scarred misanthrope duke, so that her sister can escape marriage to the man who ruined Astrid's reputation. Thane eventually agrees because he's intensely attracted to her but has no intention of falling in love with her.
The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare: Another scarred duke, this time in want of a wife that won't faint when she sees him so he can begat heirs; Emma is the seamstress who made his former fiancée's wedding dress and shows up for payment, but Ashbury decides she'll do just fine as a wife.
Worth Any Price Lisa Kleypas: The only male virgin in Kleypas-verse (well at least in the beginning), Nick Gentry is tasked with finding Charlotte on behalf of her family and fiancé, but it turns out the fiancé is, among other things, deffo a groomer so he agrees to marry her to protect her.
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas: You know the deal with this one; St. Vincent needs to marry a rich heiress since he's about to be cut off and his attempted kidnapping of Lillian failed miserably, and Evie needs to escape her abusive relatives, so off to Gretna Green it is.
Contemporary:
Lush Money by Angelina M Lopez: Prince Mateo agrees to marry billionaire Roxanne and have sex with her three nights a month so she can have a kid in exchange for money for his impoverished country. The resentment in this man is real, not that it stops him from calling her mi mujer and jumping her every 10 seconds. Basically, the only wife guy I condone.
Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey: Natalie and August agree to marry so Natalie can access start-up capital and August can improve his shoddy vineyards. I really loved August's (objectively dumb) no-PiV-sex-until-she-won't-regret-it rule because it actually made the wedding night kinda great, and it also drew out tension until they had no choice but to admit their feelings for one another.
The Harlequin fave Jackie Ashenden very helpfully made a page on her website devoted to all her marriage of convenience books, and yes, I recommend all of them.
Crowning His Lost Princess by Caitlin Crews: Warlord touches down in a Kansas (?) field and announces that this farmer gal was switched at birth, is actually a princess, and that they must marry for political reasons.
Trust Fund Fiancé by Naima Simone: Reagan needs access to her inheritance and proposes a marriage of convenience to her friend Zeke in order to gain access. This one is also technically friends-to-lovers but a really well done one.
*tbh your best bet in terms of modern marriages of conveniences might be harlequins because the stakes feel somewhat high and the tension is real, unlike a lot of contemporary romances which have people marrying to like, inherit a family ski resort or something.

hey lovee so you definitely do not have to do this, you can ignore my ask if you want, I don’t mind butttt do you happen to have any Daeron hcs? It can be in any AU or just in canon.
(this is sort of kind of for “research” because surprisingly there aren’t many Daeron hcs or analysis out there so I would love to hear your thoughts because your hcs are the sweetest and so very good)
Anyway, love you and ur posts with my whole heart ♥️
HI OMG!!! I will never ignore you babes so no worries!!!! I had so much fun writing this and I hope it’s what you’re looking for! If not, let me know and I’ll add/change things!! I love Daeron 😭😭

Canon…
🏰 I think he would have really missed his family. Especially because of the fact that he was forced to leave them all when he was so little.
🏰 He can get incredibly homesick to the point of not being able to eat or leave his bed unless he’s eventually forced. He was really close to his mother and siblings, and even if he likes his cousins and aunts and uncles in Oldtown, he misses his real family.
🏰 When he’s not homesick, he can usually be seen partaking in hobbies such as racing horses with his companions in Oldtown, or trying to train Tessarion into doing tricks in the air.
🏰 He likes to take nighttime rides with Tessarion as much as possible. He uses that time to get away from the politics of his family.
🏰 He takes his training rather seriously. He can usually be spotted in the training yard for hours and hours out of the day until he’s told to leave and eat something. Aemond sends him a lot of letters about his training, and Daeron wants to be like his older brother.
🏰 He collects all of the letters that he gets from back at home and saves them all. He likes to read them all after his dinner. He enjoys his mothers neat handwriting, and giggles at Aegon’s scratchy handwriting.
🏰 In his room, he has several different things that Helaena has made for him. Some of them can be hung on the walls and from the ceiling, while others are pillows with little bugs on them that he hugs each night when sleeping.
Modern…
🧺 Daeron had been on the soccer team at his school for years now. He loves the energy of the game, and he also loves to look over to see his whole family shaking signs of embarrassing pictures of him that say “Go Daeron!!!”
🧺 He has a habit of doubting, or comparing himself to others. But Aegon, who’s about to go pro for soccer, will always get him out of his head. It seems that his elder, and shorter, brother always knows what to do when it comes to helping Daeron feel better.
🧺 This is usually through having the twins force Daeron to play with them, playing a game of soccer in the backyard with Aemond and Aegon, or helping Helaena with her new recipe. He also likes to help his mom garden on the weekends.
🧺 Besides soccer, Daeron loves to garden. There’s something about it that he finds to be incredibly calming. And when he gardens with his mom, it’s even better. The two are usually sporting two beat up ball caps, gloves and arms covered in dirt, and smiles on their faces as music streams from the porch.
🧺 Daeron would never be able to decide what his music taste is. His family is full of music lovers, who also happen to have almost completely different styles of music taste. And being the youngest, he was subjected to all of it growing up. His mom likes classic rock, Aegon likes country, Helaena likes pop and sometimes classical, and Aemond to everyone’s surprise likes rap but also classical.
🧺 Daeron enjoys being able to watch the twins when Aegon and Helaena need a break or a night out. He lets them watch all of their favorite movies and have a sugar overload. His mom isn’t to happy about Daeron letting the twins run around the house with chocolate all over them. But she usually just flicks him behind the ear and takes the twins up for a bath.
🧺 While it’s just Daeron and his mom living at home, it doesn’t mean that the house is ever empty. Aemond with usually stay for a couple days sometimes because he doesn’t want to be alone in his apartment, and Aegon and Helaena are over every single day. The twins love the backyard.
🧺 Daeron, through the teasing of his friends, has not been on a date yet. He’s tried, but the idea of being alone with another person that isn’t his family or friend rather scares him. Don’t get him wrong, he loves meeting new people, but it’s difficult to have a dinner with someone when it’s expected that you’ll be romantically involved somehow afterwards.
🧺 He’s obsessed with reality shows and watches them whenever he can.
🧺 His style is rather hectic when the seasons change. When it’s hot out he’s just trying to survive with shorts, shirts, and hats. But when it’s cold he’s bundled up to the max with sweaters and coats that will keep him warm.
Bonus for modern!
<> He loves to eat. Like all the time. He loves all different kinds of foods and he gets really happy with Helaena will let him taste one of her new recipes.
<> Because of that, he’s a pretty good cook.
<> He begged Alicent to get a cat when he was younger, but then the cat had babies. Alicent and Daeron didn’t want to get rid of them, so the house is just full of cats. They also have one dog that loves the cats.
<> Aemond and Aegon taught him how to drive with Aemond in the front telling him where to turn and Aegon in the back yelling to be careful.
<> He failed his first drivers test and Alicent was the one to teach him how to drive after that. He passed the second time.
Bonus for canon!
<> He loves to find different bugs and tell Helaena all about them. She writes back and tells him about what bug he’s found and how to handle and take care of the creature.
<> Alicent sends him bedtime stories and he reads them before bed each night.
<> He has some trouble expressing how he feels and finding the words he wants, so when trying to express his point, it might take him a while.
<> He wears green all the time, with blues and purples mixed in.
<> He’s very good with kids and he can usually get them to stop crying.
(AHHH I hope you liked this!! Daeron is someone that is both a mystery and that I feel we can all relate to lol!! If you hate this let me know and I’ll fix it lol!!! Thank you for such a lovely ask ily!!!💓💓💓💓💓💓
