Red Roses //Yandere! Kouen x Reader//
First song fic! For prompt 23 “We paint white roses red each shade from a diffrent person’s head”
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You glared angrily at the fleet of guards that surrounded you, soldiers sent to accompany you from your homeland, and soldiers sent to deliver you to the royal palace. Each of their porcelain faces where stoic deprived of any inkling of emotion. 'Mindless brutes' you thought furiously to yourself.
You didn't want to be here, you didn't want to have anything to do with the corrupt kingdom of Kou. But alas what choice did you have? As the first princess of the Persian empire, it was your royal duty to forge an alliance with one of the most powerful empires that currently stood. Of course, when you and your father had set out to create this "so-called" alliance nither of you had expected the second prince of the Kou -scrawny dead-looking, thing he was-to proposes an arranged marriage to his older brother.
"No chance! No way!" you tried to invoke reason, hoping to convince your father and his court to decline the offer. It had almost worked too, your father ready to decline the proposal and instead search for a different route. That was until one of his top advisers began singing fables of what a magnificent ruler Kouen ren was, how he had conquered three dungeons a near-impossible task! After that, your pleas fell on deaf ears. Your father had become so entranced with the idea of his eldest daughter marrying a renowned dungeon capture that he stopped caring about who you wanted to marry.
The truth of the matter was, you didn't doubt that Kouen ren was a good man, a good future king, heck he may even be a good husband if you gave him a chance...but that could never happen, for another had captured your heart. Your attention, a man that had served you since both of you were merely little children oblivious to the troubles of the world. He had been your closest friend from before you could properly speak, the one you confined in more than your own flesh and blood. You loved him and he loved you. You dreamed of marrying him one day, so the two of you could rule toghter....yet somehow in a matter of days all your planes had been shattered you were no longer free to marry whomever you pleased. So much for a childhood love story gone right.
The emerald palace danced in view, its glittering walls were practically blinding. Steadily you marched forward in toe with the guards. Your eyes darted frantically trying to find the man that would soon be your husband. The only description you had gotten was that he was a tall man with crimson hair. Secretly you wished that he was hideous or had some major flaws like missing a limp or a tooth or lacking any manners. Anything that would give you a centimeter of leverage to use against this marriage.
The thick iron doors split, presenting you to a crowded room or guards, political leaders, and the imperial family - or what was left of it- along with the infamous dark magi. Your eyes trailed over each person linger longer than it should have. Dread slowly built up in your stomach, oh how you wished to be anywhere but here. Your steps where uneven wobbly and ill elegant. When you reached the head of the room, you shakily took a knee, eyes once more gazing at the blood-colored carpet in front of you.
"Please rise your highness" a raucous voice declared.
Anxiously you pushed your self off the floor, eyes still lingering on the floor. When your orbs finally rose to meet the prince, you were met with an emotionless looking man, his eyes seemed to be judging you, critiquing every breath you took, scars littered his arms and hands, occupying every inch of skin. Somewhere faded other a bright scarlet matching his messy locks. "So you are the princess of the Persian empire? I have to say I'm rather disappointed. When they spoke of you they made you out to be a sort of fierce intellectual, practically a scholar. But you, standing here before me, appear more like a little lost sheep who strayed too far from their flock." Every word the man spoke was gritty and harsh his tone was that of war drums declaring the commencement of a bloody battle.
Somewhere from the crowd laughter echoed, flowed by a harsh slapping noise and a whiny plea of "Mei it was funny" "Yeah ugly stop being just a stick in the--ow ow okay okay I'll stop, you gloomy-looking rat!"
An embarrassed blush sprinkled your cheeks, how dare this man defile you in such a manner! How dare his "family" have the nerve to laugh at you as if you were a court jester! Straightening your spine and raising your head higher, you proclaimed as proudly as you could! "It's been a long trip, your highness, I would very much like to retire to my room and further discuss the details of this forced marriage in the morning. "
Your eyes never once strayed away from his, your fingers had balled into tight fists, making your knuckles turn a snowy white. Passively Kouen waved a hand and a couple of maids rushed to your side using you out the side doors and down the long hallway. From the distance, you could faintly hear a gritty chuckle flowed by the red-haired man's sharp voice. "Force marriage she says"...
Night in the palace of this far off land was nothing like back home, they were restless and noisy. screams and whines filled the air with occasional noise of breaking objects and shatter glass. You had counted about eight times that a young female voice and a high pitch more masculine voice were screaming after a third party. Judar you believed the name was. children the lot of them where. You could even hear the voice of your "finance" yelling at someone to "get out of the dame library" and to "sleep in your own bed like a normal person!". It was hectic pure chaos. You leaned against your open window, peering out at the Jade city. Each of the houses and monuments shimmered in the moon's spotlight, like jewelers hanging from a pendant. For a merciful second, you began to forget your unjust predicament, instead of getting lost in the beauty of your future city.
Lost in your pitiful trance you didn't notice someone scaling up the palace walls. Until they had reached the window's edge. Noticing the hands you quickly recoiled, eyes wide with terror, your mouth was purchased ready to scream when the intruder pulled themselves up. They're basking in the moon's glory was none other than the boy of your dreams, your childhood lover. Your eyes began to tear up as he pulled himself into your room. "My darling?" His voice was so gentle like the finest silks, it wasn't terrifying or degrading in the least, unlike your husband to be's, rough military-like voice. Swiftly you ran up to your lover, wrapping your arms around his neck and burying your face in this chest. "I miss you" he cooed as his fingers curled lock of your hair. His hands cupped your cheeks tilting your head so you faced him. "We haven't much time" he muttered, quickly detaching your arms from his neck. He scurried over to where your bags were, shutting them and dragging them by the window.
"I can't just leave!" you bellowed, "What about the alliance? What will Persia do if I suddenly disappear?" You looked at your lover's eyes sucking in every detail about him. For this could very well be the last time you saw him. "They'll send one of your sisters to marry that vain man! Why must it be you? You and I can run away, live a peaceful like in another kingdom far away from the nation's troubles!" He hoisted a bag up the window frame ready to jump down. "Well you do make a compelling poi--"
The door creaked open, permitting a white light from the hallway to spill inside. Meackly stepping inside was none other than the eighth imperial princess herself Kougyoku Ren. Her hair lost from it's usual restrains and instead of her usual long dress, she was dressed in a simple rosy nightgown. "Hey (y/n) I was thinking that since you're...." Her voice trailed off as she spotted the scene in front of her. Her lips stretched into a thin line. Shakily she took a step back, her pink eyes never once leaving either of you. "KOUEN!" her voice bounced off the walls echoing across the castle. In a matter of moments, a thunder of footsteps were heard.
You gulped rushing towards your childhood friend and trying to shield him from the guards that poured in. "Kouen! She-she's trying to escape." Kougyoku blurted out the moment her brother rushed to her side. From between the guards you caught Kouen's eyes, they held a sort of....glee. Not malice, not anger, not hate but a sort of deranged happiness.
You watched helplessly as the guards dragged your lover from the room. Every time you tried to latch yourself onto him one of the guards would pull you off and push you behind him. The room emptied out quickly, The guards all leaving to deal with the intruder and Kouen shooing his sister to her room. You double-checked, his face was deprived of frustration...maybe that wasn't a good thing, his lips were turned into upwards into a mangled grin, his eyes wide with an evil type of joy. In a few short threatening steps, he was right in front of you. He gripped your wrist and pulled you to his chest, stroking your head with his free hand. "Get some sleep, my darling wife, I want you to be fully awake for tomorrow." with that he gave you an almost loving kiss on the forehead before heading out. Leaving you to tumble to the floor as nonstop tears flew from your eyes.
The next morning you found yourself standing in the gardens with the first imperial prince. That horrid grin still dancing across his face. "You clearly aren't accustomed to the manner in which we do things here in the Kou empire, so allow me to explain. You see here in Kou we do now have red roses." He lifted a finger to point at some rose bushes on the further side of the garden. Somewhere a striking scarlet, while others, an innocent white. "So we paint white roses red, each shade from a different person's head". Your breath hitched in your throat. "Please don't do this" you begged, meekly you grabbed at his arm trying to earn an ounce of sympathy from him. Instead, he just chuckled. "It's a little late for that my dear bride to be" you followed his gaze, just in time to see the executioner lower the sword, slicing off your lover's head.
Time seemed to have frozen, blood spurted outstanding the once pure white roses. The open-air was filled with monotone applause....and your defeated sobs.

Hey Guys, I just wanna share a very old story and arts that I did regarding on how Baira Sharma, my oc, and Koumei Ren first met in their early-mid teens. This will also show how Baira's personality was like before he disappeared/kidnapped for 6 years which will change quite a bit, but never lost his feelings/love/hopes for Koumei. Although there will be changes in the story in the future. Sorry if I had a couple of them out of characters. ^^'
Okay! Let get on with the story and remember that this is very old arts and story.

The Day We Met
Story and Oc Created by Durtle on March 24, 2019
Magi is not mine obviously, and this is for fun!
Do not steal my oc or my storyplot!
Location: The Kou Empire Palace's royal stable for the horses.
Kouen was dragging his little brother, Koumei, to the royal stable after kicking him out of his own bed and it was already past noon. Koumei was not looking forward going to the stable because he was too tired to do anything and wanted to be lazy. Koumei let his body go limp to send a message to his big brother that he wanted to do nothing today, but it did not stop Kouen as he kept dragging him on.
Koumei: Why are you taking me to the stable, Brother?... * he whined a bit as he tilted his head over*
Kouen: Because a bird told me that you had not been practicing your horse back riding, Koumei.
Koumei: ...and this bird doesn't happen to be Hakuren?
Beside that, I am perfectly capable of riding a horse, Brother.
Kouen: *shot his brother a harsh glare as he asked him a very good question* and exactly when was the last time you ridden a horse?
Koumei: !!! ... I can't recall when the last-
Kouen: -then you practice! That's final, Koumei!
Koumei: Noooooo... I don't wanna...
Kouen: TCH!
Koumei: Why do I need to practice that badly?
Kouen: I am pretty sure horse back riding was one of the requirements if we wants to serve Hakuyuu and Hakuren. Beside, they told me that the one of the princes from Hindrica, Prince Baira Sharma, loves it and wanted to invite us along on trails. Take it as a huge honor to ride with the princes, Koumei!
Koumei: Geez... You takes this too seriously... Why is that Hindrica Prince here again? Isn't his country an isolated kingdom with big walls that will never allow anyone in or out without the King's permission?
Kouen: Yes, Hindrica have walls that our empire can't defeat and they are on oversea lands, so it will be very complicated to claim the territory. The Hindrican Prince is here because his grandfather, King Anupam, and our Emperor reach to some agreements where we could unite our forces one day. Every summer, King Anupam will send his grandsons, Baira and Sachan, to here where they can learn our culture as we learn theirs. Although we are not allow to enter Hindrica just yet.
Basically, we just need to spend some times with them and teach them our ways.
Koumei: *sighed dramatically* Why can't they get this over with and sign a peace treaty than wasting our times playing horsey rides?
Kouen: I agree with you, Koumei. Now get on!
Koumei: Huh?! *Koumei realized he did not noticed a grey Hidaka stallion which was already saddled in front of him until now. He felt uneasy because it had been a while as he might slip off and injure himself.* Can we do this another time, Brother? I don't feel well...
Kouen: Get. On. The Horse!
Koumei flinched at the last word of Kouen's as he finally gave in to his naggings. The messy redhead went to the stepstool that was set there next to the horse, and it did not even notice him. Koumei grabbed on the horn of the saddle with one hand as the other guided the stirrup to one of his feet. When he put some weight on his foot with the stirrup, he tried to move his second foot over to the other side of the saddle gently, but unfortunately he lost balance as he accidently slouched down harshly, startling the stallion.
The Hidaka Stallion swiftly stood up on its two legs as it neighed wildly like it was being attacked. Koumei panicked as he unconsciously held onto the horse. Kouen almost panicked as well, but he kept on a brave face for his brother as he ran straight toward the frightened stallion to grab the reins, not caring he might hurt himself. As soon as he grabbed the reins, the horse bolted as it dragged Kouen across the ground, causing his fingers to slip off the reins and left him behind. Koumei was still on the horse as he screamed for help!
Koumei: HELP! PLEASE! STOOOOP!
Kouen: GRAB THE REINS, YOU IDIOT!
The Hidaka Stallion kept galloping, yet it seems like its does not know where it going as it stayed in a straight line. From a distance, there was a group of three princes minding their own business, strolling with their horses. The two imperial princes of Kou Empire had their own Hidaka stallions, and Prince Baira had brought his Marwari Stallion along from his country. The princes halted their horses as soon they heard screamings as they looked over their shoulders as saw Koumei on a runaway horse.
Hakuren: Is that Koumei?!
Hakuyuu: Oh dear...
Just before the imperial princes had a chance to think, the Hindrican Prince already made his move as he commanded his steed to follow the rouge stallion. Just when the Marwari Stallion got close enough, Prince Baira quickly got up on the seat of the saddle with his feet as he skillfully kept his balance. Koumei did not notice someone was trying to save him until he felt something just jumped on behind him.
Baira: I got you!
Prince Baira hastily reached for the reins as Koumei tried his best to stay out of his way. Once he grabbed a good hold of it, he started to redirect the stallion to calm down and it worked because it was slowing down along with the Marwari Stallion. The frightened horse had finally stopped. Koumei let out a huge sigh of relief, but only to earn some chuckles behind him. The messy redhead turned his head to see who was his savior, and the only thing that captured him was the Prince's gorgeous golden green eyes. Koumei felt his cheeks burns while he can feels his heart pounding as he tried to break the gaze, but failed.
Baira: Are you alright? ... Koumei? Is it?
Koumei: !!! *snapped out of his gazings* Y-Yes! I am safe, thanks to you-!!! ... I am sorry, but who are you again?
Baira: *let out a heartly laugh as he slipped off the horse* Why I am Baira Sharma. One of the princes of Hindrica~
Koumei: Ehhh?! You are- I mean! Your highness, I apologizes for my carelessness that frightened the horse and wasted your times upon me. *bows his head furiously toward him*
Baira: *laughs again* Don't worry about it, Koumei. Here allow me. *Puts his hands on Koumei's side to help him to get off the horse and he let him* And beside, it's not your fault that you frightened this creature.
Koumei: It's not, your highness?
Baira: *gently grabbed the Hidaka Stallion's noseband and guided its face toward Koumei* If you look closely, the mane had not been groomed for a long time and the hair covered its eyes. So it's not surprising that this horse got startled.
Koumei: !!! I did not realize that...
Kouen: Koumei!!!
Koumei and Baira looked over to a direction where Kouen who had hitched a ride with Hakuyuu with Hakuren trotting toward them.
Hakuren: Are you two alright?
Baira: Yup. This little miss here was shaken, but she is alright. Ha! *pats on Koumei's messy hair*
Koumei flinched as he heard Baira's last sentence. Baira thought he was a girl. Sure, he got long hair and pinkish clothings, but still! He slowly turned to the Hindrica Prince and he never felt so furious and embarrassed at someone before.
Koumei: I am not a girl! *kicked Baira's in the knee*
Baira: Huh?! *not even phased by the kick because it felt like he was being attacked by a small pigeon against his knee*
Kouen, Hakuyuu, and Hakuren: !!!!!
Koumei: Wahh! I hate you!!!
Kouen: What the heck!
Hakuyuu: Oh dear...
Hakuren: Koumei! Noooooo!
(At least we knew where did Kougyoku got the dramatic meltdown from. LOL JK)
The two Imperial Princes and Kouen got very nervous because how else will they explain to Emperor Hakutoku if King Anupam decided to call off the arrangements with such simple assault against Baira. What even more shocking was that Koumei, out of all the people, was the one who did the assault. When Koumei realized what he had done, he took his cue to run for it back to the palace in a hurray to hide his embarrassments. Kouen tried to called Koumei back to apologize to Baira, but he apologized on behalf of Koumei instead along with Hakuyuu and Hakuren as they hope nothing will affects anything in the future. Baira reassured them that he was not the type of person who would tattletale over silly things, and he said it was his fault for upsetting Koumei. The Kou Princes and Kouen felt so relief that Baira was such a honest and selfless person.
As the time for the supper of the day approaches, Koumei decided to stay in the garden to hide as he sat on the ground near the bushes. He did not wanted to show his face at dinner, especially with Prince Baira there. He never felt so ashamed of his childlish act toward him. He thought he would not dare to lash out like that, but it was Baira's fault for upsetting him. Yet, he never felt something like that toward to someone before.
Koumei: That jerk...
Baira: Who is the jerk?
Koumei flinched as he slowly turned to see Baira, but this time he was not wearing his head wrap as his hair was in full view. Koumei got nervous because he thought he was going to get some scolding or yelling, but Baira sat down next to him with a laugh.
Baira: I am just kidding. I know I was a jerk before.
Koumei: But your highness, I never usually-
Baira: You can drop all that "your highness" nonsense since we are friends now. Ha ha. *gets closer*
Koumei: F-Friends?
Baira: Yup! I also wanted to apologize for assuming you being a girl. It's just that during my studies with language, I learned that Koumei was a common name for girls.
Koumei: Ohhh... The name. That makes sense. I guess you were a bit too deep in your studies for that kind of assumption, but interesting observation though. Thanks for apologizing... and I apologize for kicking you when you did not deserve it.
Baira: No apologies needed. I got plenty from your brother and your cousins nonstop. Ha ha ha! And you know what... Koumei really suits you! The meaning-
Koumei: -ah *rolled his eyes* The meanings of my name. I know. It's being a bright person I am. Nothing new.
Baira: Yes, but...
Baira pulled up his hand toward Koumei, but the redhead shut his eyes, expecting some kind of impacts for being a smarty-pants like usual. Yet, there was no impact and Koumei only felt one of his cheeks being gently caressed. Koumei opened his eyes and look up ahead, only to see Baira looking at him so sweetly. Koumei was confused and he wondered if this was one of Hindrican greetings.
Baira: Koumei, there is a part of your name that means "Beautiful," and it really suits you!
Koumei: !!! *blushed*
The feelings that Koumei had when he first saw Baira's eyes came back and this time was because of his kindness and intelligent. Koumei couldn't believe his ears and wondered if Baira's blind. No one had ever called Koumei beautiful before. Just weirdo or mop head, but not beautiful. Koumei never thought there would be a boy who was kind, intelligent, selfless, athletic, and most of all handsome would called him beautiful.
Baira: So... Is this is the Kou Empire way of bonding as friends, Koumei?~
Koumei: !!!?
Koumei took it back because Baira was a complete clueless, oblivious idiot who don't know how to read the mood!
(He will learn the moods in the future though LOL JK)
Koumei was not amused, yet disappointed, as he pushed the prince's hand off of his face, but he understood that Baira was trying to be friendly. Maybe too friendly.
Koumei: If you just wants to be just friends, then friends don't just go caressing each other's cheeks.
Baira: They don't? *tilted his head over like a confused puppy*
Koumei tried not to laugh at his adorable facial expression as he tried to cleared his throat.
Koumei: No, they don't, Baira.
Baira: .... !!! Oh! Oh crap! I am so sorry! *blushes a bit as he just got the idea of what he just did* But I really did meant that you are beautiful.
Koumei: Never mind that! *tries to hide his blushing face with his sleeves*
Baira: Sorry... back in my country, we don't have many friendly public gestures in a long time, and I just went with the flow here. But hey! Now, I have you as a friend, you can teach me all about it!
Koumei: Eh?! I am not sure if I am suited to teach you that kind of thing since I don't have many friends.
Baira: Then we will learn together! So what do you say? Friends forever? *put out his hand for Koumei to shake*
Koumei sat still for a minute as he thought about it. He wasn't very sure of it since Baira was a bit childish for a 15 years old, but he was so sweet and would not mind to spend more times with him at all as the redhead took the prince's hand and shook it.
Koumei: Friends Forever.
Baira smiled gleely like a child and Koumei could not help it but laughed at him. From that day on, the two boys became good friends and grew closer as years goes by.
Hope yall enjoyed this. :3

Meant for you chapter 11) Tied
Kouen shifted his sword’s weight in his hands, stalking cautiously through the forest. This was a training exercise Hakuren had put together for him and Amaris. Since Amaris’ fighting style was more built towards stealth and assassination, they decided to test it out somewhere that worked with her wires and daggers. And Kouen needed to sharpen his senses anyways so here they were.
Kouen quickly turned, hearing a rustle behind him. She could be anywhere. Amaris was light and fast, he overpowered her with pure strength sure, but her speed could easily catch him off guard. ‘You need to be careful Kouen’ he reminded himself ‘Keep your eyes peeled and just-‘ he didn’t get to finish that thought as the first storm of wires and daggers rained down on him. He faintly saw a flash of white before his body was ensnared in red wire. (Amaris has a similar fighting technique to Ja’far, just to give you an idea of how she fights) he didn’t even feel one of the daggers cut through his shoulder as Amaris held one against his throat, her other hand holding the wires around him.
”Hey, En” she said cheerfully. She laughed as Kouen turned red, then she noticed the cut in his shoulder. “Oh! Sorry” she exclaimed before releasing him from his wired prison. Kouen took the advantage to attack her, as mentioned earlier, Kouen over powered Amaris when it came to brute strength, but it didn’t mean she didn’t fight back. But, Kouen tripped her and caught her, almost like some dance. The younger boy smiled shyly before letting her stand up, and they both awkwardly just stand there for a moment before they both hear a whistle and a small round of applause from none other than their number one shipper, Hakuren.
“Alright, I think that’s enough for today” Hakuren said. Suddenly, two heads peaked out from behind him. ‘That is just adorable’ Amaris thought, trying not to smile. Two big blue eyes stared at her, Hakuren laughed and ushered the two children so that they were in view. “Hakuei, Hakuryuu, meet Amaris” he said. Said girl walked over and knelt down to be eye level with the two dark haired children.
“Hello” she said, trying to sound nice as possible. The girl, Hakuei smiled at her “Hello, miss” she said timidly. Amaris looked up at Hakuren
”You’re younger siblings, I assume?” The second prince nodded. The little boy, Hakuryuu shyly hid behind his sister. He had to be at least three years old, maybe younger. Amaris smiled at him. “Hello. Your name is Hakuryuu, right?” He nodded “That’s a strong name. It means white dragon” Hakuren looked down at her, puzzled. “It does?”
Amaris laughed “Your parents named their children without knowing what it meant?” Hakuren shrugged. Amaris stood back up and looked down again surprised to see Hakuryuu tugging on her cloak. Hakuren laughed “I think he wants you to pick him up” Amaris obliged and picked the little boy up.
“Amawis” he said happily. ‘I think my heart’s about to explode’ she thought. Kouen, who was momentarily forgotten, coughed awkwardly. “Well, we should be getting back” Amaris nodded and tried to put Hakuryuu down, who clung onto her clothes tightly. “You’d better onto him before he throws a fit” Hakuren said, he was giving Hakuei a piggy back ride.
“Ok then”
And with that, a short walk back to the palace commenced. And Hakuren, oddly was giving his signature idiot grin. Which meant that something bad was about to happen. And soon because the palace got closer and closer. So, when they got to the entrench, Amaris put Hakuryuu down and made a run for it.
“Amaris!?” She heard Kouen hell in shock. She just heard Hakuren curse before he started running after her. ‘Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!’ she mentally yelled. She bolted through the streets of Rakusho as the second imperial prince chased after her.
‘Sombra, please if you can do anything, help me right now!’
“Sorry Amaris, but you haven’t used me for over a year so you’re dead” the voice in her head replied, she heard a bit of amusement in the djinn’s voice. “Plus, he’s doing you a favour. You seem to like that Kouen boy”
“ARE YOU SERIOUSLY SIDING WITH HIM!?” She yelled, a few people may have looked at her, but she didn’t care. She didn’t want to know what Hakuren was planning...
Amaris hid behind a market stall, just as Hakuren broke through the crowd. He ran right past her. ‘Ok, don’t be so sure. Remember, you’re in a world full of anime cliches’ she reminded herself. But, curiosity got the best of her and she peaked, out around her shoulder. And then, a smiling Hakuren cornered her.
“Oh no, Amy. I have plans for you” ‘Oh my god he looks like a serial killer’ she thought nervously. And before she knew it, Hakuren slung her over his shoulder. “Hey! Put me down!” She yelled.
And Hakuren dragged her kicking and screaming back to the palace. And luckily, Hakuyuu saved her. “Hakuren, put the poor girl down” he said. Amaris took advantage of Hakuren’s stillness and managed to find his crotch, and kicked it. Hakuren screamed and she got one of her daggers out and managed to hook herself up onto a support beam. Hakuyuu laughed a little while Hakuren clutched his balls and whimpered.
“Um... what happened?” Kouen was at the other end of the hall, walking towards him with a slightly shorter figure trailing behind him.
“I will have my vengeance!” Hakuren yelled.
Amaris laughed and came down “Sure, sure, but right now, I think you might need your crotch fixed” she said before launching into a fit of giggles. She turned to Kouen “Who’s this?” She asked, looking behind him.
“Well, introduce yourself” Kouen said to the young teen beside him. The freckled boy took a shuddering breath.
“I am Ren Koumei, second son of Kou... Koutoku...” he trailed off before falling forwards into Amaris’s arms.
“Is he ok!?” Kouen sighed irritably and glared at Koumei’s back “He does that. He pretends to have some chronic disease that makes his body weak. It’s stupid yes, but he’s rather bright. But of course, he’s lazier than a sloth” Amaris looked down at Koumei unsurely. Oh well, he did fund a magical research centre when he was a child...
”Koumei, get up” Kouen said sternly. No reply from the younger boy, Kouen sighed and tried to haul him up from Amaris’ arms, getting way to close in the process, he didn’t notice until Hakuren slammed their heads together to make them kiss. But it back fired and all they ended up doing was bumping heads and creating a pile of loose robes on the floor.
“Great job Ren” Amaris growled as she roughly tried to push the two redheads off her. Eventually, they got it all sorted out and they fooled around for the rest of the day, but as night fell, Amaris decided that maybe she would retire to her home for the day.
“I’m going home” she said, walking off. “Wait!” Hakuren called, he grabbed Kouen “A lady shouldn’t walk alone at night” he said, pushing Kouen in her direction, “He should go with you”
“But I can- You know he’s not gonna stop insisting so may as well go along with it” Kouen grumbled before grabbing her wrist and dragging her out of the palace. Eventually, they hit the dark streets. When they got to Amaris’ mansion, she turned to Kouen.
“Thanks. You could have chickened out halfway through though” she said. Kouen shrugged, “Well, I do need to make sure you don’t get hurt. If you couldn’t beat me, then you surely can’t defeat a few street thugs” Amaris punched his shoulder lightly before opening one of the large doors. “Night Kouen” she said before slipping through the doors quietly.
Kouen smiled lightly, he really wouldn’t have minded if Hakuren succeeded in getting them together...

What music can you see the Kou family enjoying in the modern day???
OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY I’m doing the ENTIRE KOU FAMILY (minus parents) for this because this is some GOOD SHIT
Hakuyuu Ren
The first Imperial Prince of Kou would like classical music or light indie rock. Anything that’s soothing and helps him relax. He’ll also listen to smooth jazz when he’s cleaning or in a good mood.
“Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” by Cigarettes After Sex
“Arsonist’s Lullabye” by Hozier
Pachelbel’s “Canon in D”
“Greensleeves”
“We Don’t Talk Anymore” by Rick Braun feat. Peter White
Hakuren Ren
This boy would enjoy songs in different languages, songs that had a sort of funk to them, and songs that made him happy.
“Tous Les Mêmes” by Stromae
“Peace Song” by Kye Kye
“Munou (無能)” by österreich
“fashion week (it’s different remix)” by Blackbear
“Take A Slice” by Glass Animals
Hakuei Ren
Lovely Hakuei would listen to songs that have interesting lyrics, songs that tell stories. Most of the songs she likes are about love, but she also really really likes songs that carry some sort of lesson or are just… Aesthetic?
“Show Me That You Love Me” by Space Pirate
“Upward Over The Mountain” by Iron and Wine
“sakura sakura” by Rin’
“White Dove” by eagle/deer
“It’s Only” by ODESZA
Hakuryuu Ren
Crybaby Hakuryuu would end up having a mix of his siblings’ preferences. He likes calming music, alternative stuff, and songs with meanings. However, he also likes songs that carry a harsher tone than the ones his siblings like.
“Grey Skies” by Catching Flies
“Miracle” by The Score
“Poplar St” by Glass Animals
“West Coast” by The Neighbourhood
“The Public” by J-SOUL
Kouen Ren
En would listen to songs that consist of just music or very little words, as he finds it makes it easier to concentrate when studying or reading. Like his older cousin, Hakuren, he would enjoy songs in different languages, humming along and sometimes singing under his breath.
“Next to You” from Parasyte the Maxim OST
“[alone]” by Sl.drft
“Vor í Vaglaskógi” by Kaleo
“I’ll Keep Coming” by Low Roar
“The Gospel of John Hurt” by alt-J
Koumei Ren
Smooth songs that sort of fade into the background are the kinds of songs Koumei would prefer to listen to. He doesn’t care much about learning the lyrics of songs, though for his favorites he’ll learn them and try to decipher the meaning, if there is any.
“Mama’s Gun” by Glass Animals
“Somebody Else” by The 1975
“don’t leave me this way” by Tomppabeats
“Falling” by Fair Game
“Choking on Flowers” by Fox Academy
Kouha Ren
Shorty over here would like excited songs, songs that make you wanna run a marathon. He would also like rap to a certain extent, and would work to learn the lyrics and sing them in time to impress his friends and family.
“Gimme Sum (Hydraulix Remix)” by Slop Rock feat. Feral is Kinky
“(INTRO) LOS FAVORITOS” by ARCANGEL FT. FARRUKO, ÑENGO FLOW, ÑEJO, GENIO, ALEXIO, PUSHO
“I’m Poppy” by Poppy
“Comics” by Caravan Palace
“Poppin Percs” by TOP $HELF
Kougyoku Ren
The princess’ choice of music is like a weird mix of Kouha’s and Hakuei’s, with pretty songs mixed in with songs that make your heart beat faster. She listens to songs in her room at night and think of dances that could go with them.
“Wonderland” by Caravan Palace
“Gee (Disco Remix” by Pax
“idfc (ZETO x Arabella Remix)” by Blackbear
“Never Gonna Catch Me” by Skan & El Speaker
“Holiest” by Glass Animals feat. Tei-Shi
Judar
come on this guy’s practically part of the family. Judar would like rap, songs that have darker meanings, songs that he can relate to, and songs that many would consider sort of odd. He wouldn’t listen to music in front of anyone.
“Bounce” by Logic
“Pale Flesh” by Crystal Castles
“you’re the only one that wants me (around / to die)” by nvrmore
“Dead To Me” by Sex Whales & Fraxo feat. Lox Chatterbox

Brother Knows Best
Paring: Ren Kouen x Reader
Koumei POV! companion one shot to Who would’ve thought two-shot
masterlist
Koumei yawned loudly. He rubbed his eyes, letters on a scroll before him were blurred for staring for too long. He should’ve get some sleep in the night, bus as usual, he didn’t. Another yawn resounded through the quiet library. He closed his eyes and let the sleep come to him. He was quite good at sleeping whenever and wherever. His doze off didn’t get unnoticed by his older brother.
“Don’t sleep!” Kouen barked and smacked Koumei’s head with some papers. “Yes, yes…” younger prince replied. “You’re horrible, brother.” Older male shot him a glare in reply. He watched as Kouen walked towards a bookshelf and took another scroll out of it. Sitting by the window, he looked through the papers. Koumei, deciding it was safe to daze off again, as his brother was focused on reading, laid his head on his arms and closed his eyes. His sleep was interrupted again. “It’s so stuffy in here!” came a woman’s voice. With one eye open he watched as young woman barged into the library. She was carrying a few books and scrolls in her hands. Koumei recalled, that he was reading them earlier. With a smile on her face the woman peeked at him and sighed amused. She didn’t notice he was awake. ______ was a guest at Kou Imperial Palace, as they found her after she conquered the dungeon on her own. For an almost a year she trained on their grounds as she pledged her loyalty to Kou Empire and Kouen. Though she was treated officially as guest, she got acquainted with all of Ren siblings, knowing Kougyoku from her stay in Sindaria, then meeting Kouen and him on the muddy road near the dungeon, in the end making friends with Kouha. “Koumei needs to learn not to leave books all over the palace,” she said as she put his books back on the shelf. “He’s asleep again,” Kouen grumbled. Koumei mentally smirked. Through his fringe he could see both figures. “Ah, let him,” the woman spoke with lively voice. “I’m sure he didn’t sleep at night as usual.” “He should learn that too.” Koumei could feel his brother’s gaze on him. “He’s taking after his older brother,” she said. Kouen snorted. She cocked her head to her side.” What are you reading?” His brother sighed and showed her the scroll. “History book, though the most of it is incomplete,” he said. “Probably lost during wars.” “Oh, I can feel your pissed off aura,” she said after awhile with a slight laugh. “Do not pout, there is always chance that the text is copied somewhere else, right?” Yep, Koumei thought, if there was any person, that could say to his brother face-to-face, that he should not ‘pout’ it would be _____. And survive no less. Once she even said that he was ‘grumpy pants’ when he grumbled when the tea was cold. She said it was their own fault, that the tea she prepared gone cold during their work. Koumei and Kouha had the day of their life when they saw Kouen’s expression. Though they learned that he would not appreciate anyone but _____ calling him like this. Koumei guessed that it was her blunt honesty with him, that made Kouen acknowledge her views and opinions. He himself was blunt, yet people usually refused to be this honest with him and resolved to be polite and agreeing. Being the first prince wasn’t all rainbows. “I am not pouting, _____.” The woman moved and opened the window. Koumei soon felt light breeze on his cheeks. “No, it’s just your frowning face number three.” “You distinguish them?” Kouen raised his brew. The document was long forgotten, Koumei noted. “Of course!” she said. She was lively woman with lots of unused energy, that much Koumei knew. She counted down, “normal frowning face, bored frowning face and pissed frowning face.” Kouen looked confused. Koumei had to use all of his willpower to not to fall of his chair from laughing. He decided it was indeed good idea to fake sleeping. He looked at the pair by the window. His brother was shaking his head while muttering something under his breath and _____ was smiling. “Oh, look your ponytail is disheveled,” she pointed and moved forwards. She reached her hands towards Kouen. The prince raised brow at her, but she only sent him one of a kind look. “May I?” Finally he nodded and let the woman take care of his hair. She was smiling and hummed while she tied his small ponytail. Koumei started wondering about their relationship. It was clear as a day to anyone who bothered to look, that they were close. Way too close for a prince and mere guest. Soft eyes when he gazed at her right how, betrayed him. _____ acted like a… big sister? Mother? No. Like a good wife. Kouen was always the one who took care of everyone. Even with his stoic composure he always made sure his siblings were alright. He cared deeply for them and since they were children he was their big brother they looked up to, the one who was their support. He was pillar of strength and he never let himself look weak. Because of that there wasn’t really any person who could take care of him. Nobody to whom he could be vulnerable to. _____ since they met her, she was motherly. She has kind heart and caring attitude. Koumei guessed that at some point she broke through his brother’s walls. And he was glad she did. His brother needed somebody who could bring a peace to his mind. “Done!” she said moving away. “Thanks,” he replied. Young woman clapped her hands. “I’m off,” she declared. “It’s time to kick Kin Gaku’s butt.” “Training?” “Yup.” Right, Koumei thought, she and Kin Gaku of Kouen’s household weren’t exactly on good terms since ever. Rude and crude, as she described him. Though at some point they shared some kind of respect, since he helped with her training, and rivalry as well. Lost in thought, Koumei didn’t notice _____ behind him. “Wake up, Koumei~!” she said in merry voice. She smacked lightly his head and walked out of the library. “The day is way too nice to waste it!” He blinked, faking waking up. He yawned, this time honestly. “Don’t you even dare,” Kouen said, sitting beside the table with a ‘frown number three’ on his face. Koumei rubbed his eyes. His brother might not realize this yet, but he had fallen for that woman for good. Koumei knew, after all, he was his younger, observant brother.

how about the ren siblings (that are alive) having a normal dinner and being awkward??
I set this so it’s after Kougyoku returns from Balbadd but before Sinbad himself visits the Kou Empire. :3c
It was rare for any of the imperial children to eat in the palace’s lavish dining room and not within the comfort of their own private dwellings. What made the scene even stranger was the fact that they were ALL seated together tonight, for tonight was a few days before the king of Sindria would come to visit Kou’s emperor and talk to him about the events in Balbadd. However, even with the multitude of servants and personal assistants nearby, there was a heavy silence in the air. Even though each of them are related by some means, in truth most of them aren’t at leisure to act like ‘normal’ siblings. The only exception to this was probably the princess Hakuei and her younger brother Hakuryuu.
Eventually all the bowls and silverware is placed on the table, along with the hot meals for each member of the family. A brief wave of the eldest one’s hand, and all servants are dismissed out of the room, leaving the six of them alone. The silence continues with the brief sounds of forks against the dishes.
The one to finally speak up first was Hakuryuu, but addressing only his elder sibling that was seated next to him.
“ … Sister, what kind of man is King Sinbad? ”
Turning her head to the side, Hakuei offers one of her signature kind smiles. Unknownst to them, the question catches the attention of the other princess, Kougyoku, seated across from Hakuei, peeking slightly over her sleeve to avoid her interest in the topic being noticed.
“ I haven’t met him myself so I cannot say for sure …
But if he’s willing to speak on behalf of Balbadd instead of resorting to taking up arms, I believe he’s a civil man. ”
The response brings a faint tint of red to Kougyoku’s cheeks, remembering back on her chance encounter with him. However whatever butterflies she was currently getting in her stomach were killed off by another prince, one who spoke quite loudly to voice his opinion.
“ Bleh, that sounds boring! I’d rather him come here with a sword and army, that’d be way more fun. ”
Kouha sticks his tongue out at the idea, his fork in hand pushing around his food before impaling a piece and putting it into his mouth. The comment gets a sigh from Koumei, in front of him not only an untouched plate but a scroll which he was immersed in, only to be brought out of it by the small amount of statements going around.
“ He wouldn’t do anything like that! King Sinbad is a kind and gentle man! ”
Kougyoku couldn’t just hold her tongue when that image crossed her mind, brows furrowed as she stared at the short prince, annoyance clear on her features. Both Hakuei and Hakuryuu stared at her, not expecting her to speak at all tonight. Kouha raised an eyebrow at her statement.
Soon realizing that all eyes were on her, the red-haired princess blinked before sheepishly bowing her head, long sleeves being helpful to cover the embarrassment of speaking up.
“ Don’t hide. You’re the only one here fit to speak on his behalf. ”
At the head of the table, Kouen makes his voice known. His face has a smirk on it, one Koumei knows too well. The prince known as Kouen Ren is suddenly interested in the conversation, wishing to hear more from the sister who has actually meet the famous ‘High King of the Seven Seas’.
Maybe tonight they’ll be able to speak together for the first time. After they all stop being slightly unnerved by the smile on a usually stoic man, of course.
The only one who doesn’t appear to mind are Koumei and Hakuei, the woman glancing over at him before speaking up.
“ Could you pass the salt, please? ”
“ Ah, yes. Here you go. ”

At a young age, Hakuei had never experienced the sensation of being brought to her knees. She was the first and only Imperial Princess and the pride that came with this honor as their country blossomed and grew drove her devotion to it. She was born with this responsibility and would inherit her father’s will and Kou’s dream: if that meant her hand would be given away to a foreign lord as was their common tradition for a princess that came of age, she would accept that.
What she didn’t expect was the greatest tragedy.
Hakuei had never once worried for her family’s lives. Of course she knew the risks of war and Hakuyuu had almost been killed in a bloody battle verse Goh but Kouen had rescued him from the front lines fortunately. Regardless, even when her father passed there would always be an heir in either of her beloved older brothers. They were strong... they could never lose a fight.
It was different when she saw the smoke clouds billow, turning the blue sky dark with ash as the young princess turned back from her Mother’s side, held back from running to the scene from where she knew all of her brothers were in peril.
That was the first time she was driven to her knees at Hakuryuu’s bedside, praying to whatever God she could think of to protect him... to keep him from suffering the same fate as Hakuyuu and Hakuren.
She knelt again as the news was spread all over the capital, her younger brother’s claim to the throne discarded at the assumption he could die from his wounds and so their uncle took Kou. She bowed, eyes to the floor before the merciful new Emperor who graciously adopted the former imperial prince and princess as surrogate children of his but it would never be the same. They were just as easily moved to the far reaches of the palace: out of sight and out of mind.
In his presence and any of his eleven children, she would take a knee as the charity case she was, fortunate for even holding a title but not expected to do anything with it.
With a metal vessel she’d gain more of a status than she’d been allowed to ever since; the title of princess meaningless to her now as a figurehead... but as a general she could finally rebuild. The northern expansion was not without it’s benefits but also a cruel lesson in human nature. At this point she knew that no matter what she accomplished, there would always be other’s trying to uproot her and take what she had earned.
No matter what she accomplished, the pride she once held was gone. Her status was a matter of circumstance... as a woman unable to take the throne when her brothers died, as a princess who was never supposed to amount to anything, and as a member of this family who realized this world would take things from you and beat you like the ocean waves against a rock.
While men and women clawed and fought for a place at the mountains peak, Hakuei would look beyond this to a world where no one died from power struggles: an ideal place where we can discard our pride and kneel for the greater good and for the compassion we have for our fellow humans.
If she did not lead the charge, so be it. If she was never remembered for her efforts yet even one person flourished from them, she would be satisfied... but with the time she had, Hakuei Ren would mold the world into a place where our pride does not blind us or keep us from sympathizing with others.
That is the world she strives for.
#drabble#long post#i have so much respect for hakuei ren#and i think the fact that she's always been submitting really isn't something we should be mad about#i think it's what makes her so strong is recognizing that she doesn't need to take control#she won't ever let her pride blind her#character development#headcanons

Meant for you chapter 12) Friends
"And I win" Hakuren said triumphantly, grinning over the girl on the ground. Amaris groaned and lied back down, staring up at the endless blue skies. Today, she had taken up sparring against Hakuren, whereas tomorrow she'd start training some soldiers as a part of her job as imperial general.
"How are you gonna train the newbies if you can't even beat me?"
Amaris grunted and sat up, wincing at the pain her bottom. "My prince, I was asked to specifically train a black guard: assassin's and spies per special orders of your father. Prince Kouen will oversee military training"
Hakuren knelt down and flicked her forehead "Jeez, what happened to you? Why are you suddenly so uptight about titles and such? I've never known you to be the prim and proper type"
"General Amaris?"
The white haired girl turned to see that wretch, Gykouen standing in the hallway behind her.
"Yes Lady Gykouen?" She asked, trying keeping her temper down.
"What is your relation with my son's and nephews?"
And odd question. But, she figured that the Empress was rather curious as to why Amaris was around the palace so much.
"We're... friends I suppose. Your son, Prince Hakuren invited me to become a general, and I met his relatives along the way" she replied, carefully choosing her words.
Gykouen nodded and stepped closer, walking a circle around the general.
"My lady?"
She stopped "General Amaris, need I remind you that you are a general, and nothing more. My son's will not see you as anything more, and you shall not see them as anything more than prince's. Understood?"
Amaris blinked "I'm afraid I don't"
Gykouen sighed "You're a bright girl, so lovely too, but, you are not royalty. I refused to let my children bond with such tainted bloodlines. I do not want you to have this 'friendship' with my son's and nephews. You're a filthy peasant, deranged and alone"
Amaris clenched her fists "You don't know the first thing about me"
Gykouen smiled "There it is. You think of everyone as your equal. And that is the problem. You might throw around fancy titles, but, they are all shallow and meaningless. I don't want that to seep into my dear children's minds..."
She was so close to chopping her head off.
"I don't want to see you interacting with my family like we are less than Royals. Equal to you. You're a terrible influence anyways. A filthy orphan off the streets of Parthevia? No amount of dungeons and half earned riches will make you special"
She wanted to cry. To run. To hide. To plunge her sword into the nearest person's head.
"I want you to stay away form my family. That is an order. You are a mere pawn to me and my husband. A piece in this little game we play. You mean nothing. And I can't have any of my dear family members thinking that all of that filth amounts to something."
"You are a weapon. Nothing more, nothing less. You will be whatever I tell you to be. Or else, I can have all of this taken away from you. Your servants, your riches, your metal vessel, and your little friendship with my son's"
"Do I make myself clear?"
Amaris didn't look up, trying to stay strong while her body betrayed her and tears streamed down her face. "Yes, Lady Gykouen"
She chuckled "You've lost everything once, and you refuse to loose it again. I love broken young souls like that"
Amaris got up, trying to forget the encounter "Perhaps a change of heart was warranted?" she asked rhetorically. "I am a general under your command, before all else"
Hakuren frowned "How about this; we spar, and of I win you need to tell me what's going on with you. If I loose, you get to keep to yourself"
Ruby red eyes looked up at hopeful light blue ones "Prince Hakuren-"
"That was an order, then. Amy, I'm your friend. I want you to tell me these things"
Right. A royal and someone who wasn't even from this world.
Amaris sighed and readied her blade, focusing on the prince in front of her. They circled each other before Hakuren charged. Amaris quickly jumped out of the way and made a beeline for his neck. He parried it and rolled, not minding the dirt he got on his pristine robes.
The girl dodged a swing from the high prince, doing a graceful flip and meeting his blade with her own, the sound of metal ringing in the air as they clashed blades.
Parry after party, hit after hit, general and prince were evenly matched. Amaris didn't want to tell, nor did she want to show. They fought like that for a while, waiting to catch the other off guard. That's when Hakuren made a mistake. He missed his footing by a mere inch, but it was enough for Amaris to gain the upper hand and knock him off balance.
"I believe that means I win, Prince Hakuren" she said simply before bowing and sheathing her sword as she walked off.
Amaris walked towards the front gate, she was about to leave when she noticed Hakutoku in the hallway. She bowed to him respectfully as he passed.
"General Amaris. Why are you here?" he asked.
"Prince Hakuren and I were sparring. Swords aren't familiar territory for me so he's been helping me train" she replied, keeping her eyes down.
Hakutoku hummed "Yes, you used a method exclusive to assassin's in Parthevia, don't you?"
"... Yes. You know of it?"
"I read of it in a few scrolls. I look forward to seeing your progress training more assassin's and spies. The Empire will need them in due time"
Amaris bowed once again and moved to leave, but Hakutoku called her back.
"General? I've heard that you're good friends with my children"
Oh no.
"Is that true?"
Amaris turned to face the emperor, tying to not show any emotion. "No. We just spar a lot. We all strive to serve this empire well in battle"
She didn't expect to see Hakutoku's face falter "Ah. Alright. I'm sorry for keeping you. I'm sure you have something important to do at home"
The emperor surged forward, leaving a slightly confused Amaris behind.
"Your majesty"
I shouldn't do this. Gykouen will kill me.
"If it is my place to ask, you seem rather troubled?"
Hakutoku sighed "You're a very kind and considerate girl. Yes, I am troubled"
Amaris looked at him, silently telling the old man to continue.
"I had just hoped that they finally had a friend. They seemed happy being around you. And not just my children, but, Kouen and Koumei as well. As royalty, it's not easy to make friends. I often hear Hakuren complain about how he wished he wasn't a royal so that he could actually have some friends"
Ah. Amaris had been distant lately, giving Kouen and Hakuren the cold shoulder. She wasn't as familiar with Hakuyuu so she still called him by his title, but, she could tell that he thought she was acting a little strange. They were lonely. As much as she was.
"I like your children a lot. I've never been surrounded by many people my age" that was true, even while growing with Sin, heck, even in the real world. Her and sin had always scraped around for a living, it was just them. And in the other world... in the other world she was often pulled away from anyone she could really connect with.
"General Amaris" Hakutoku said, looking at her with surprisingly kind eyes "I'd be overjoyed if you made friends with my children, especially my nephew's. Please, do not feel intimidated by rank, I will welcome you with open arms"
Amaris sort of got the impression that Hakutoku thought she loved one of the royal siblings. But, she knew that he just meant as his friend as well.
"Thank you, My Lord. Truly, I don't know what to say"
Hakutoku smiled "I want the world to be united. I think that starts with throwing rank aside. 'Till all are one"
Amaris bowed and ran back into the palace, leaving a smiling emperor behind. She knew that Hakutoku wanted to unite the world, but, she never thought he was so kind and gentle. He seemed like a caring old man, not the tyrant she thought he would be.
(A little p.o.v switch for a moment)
Hakuren sighed as he pokes his stick into the dirt. Amaris had beaten him and won their little bet! Why was she acting so distant? They were friends! Was she just distancing herself because of their ranks? Who cares about those! Amy didn't! Maybe she was just avoiding them because of Kouen? She was also being rather cold to him, maybe it was because Hakuren pushed them both a bit too hard?
Hakuren grunted as a small rock hit the back of his neck. "Hey!"
Hakuren's look of shock turned into a smile when he saw who had come back.
"Amaris!"
"Hey Hakuren" she said, smiling.
"What made you come back?"
Amaris shrugged "A friend"
Hakuren playfully cocked a brow "Oh really?"
"No. You're father told me that you guys were lonely"
Hakuren blinked, shocked. His father? Ren Hakutoku, Emperor of the Kou empire? His cold and stoic father?
"You seem shocked. I take it he doesn't show much emotion around you?"
Hakuren looked down "No. He doesn't"
Amaris put a hand on his shoulder "He cares about you, Ren. He is a bit busy and distant, but, I think a cup of tea or a little how are you would make his day"
Hakuren had never been particularly close with his father. None of them had. Mother had always told them that he was too busy, and he had always been alright with just his mother's presence. But, as time wore on Hakuren, he realized he needed a man he could look up to in his life. For help with guy stuff. As great as his mother was, she couldn't do that.
"Alright"
Amaris smiled and pulled out her sword "How about a little rematch, my friend?"
Hakuren smirked "You're on"
Notes
I really wanted to set up a little friendship arc for Hakuren and Amaris, because honestly I think platonic relationships are just as important to develop as romantic ones, and given that Amaris already has two romantic interests, I thought a friendly platonic one would be nice.
There aren't a lot of girls around her age so I settled for Hakuren who's the same age as her. I have a lot of guy friends and we have a lot of fun together. And Hakuren reminds me of one of those irl guy friends so yeah!
I know Hakutoku might have been a bit of a jerk was as a father, but, I like to believe that he was just a bit distant because of his duties, but he loved his children and even his nieces and nephews! Kouen looked up to him a lot, so I think he was actually a decent father when he had the time to bond with his kids. I like to think that he's like the uncle Iroh to the Kou kids, just a bit distant. He was probably a good person when he had time for his sons, he probably regretted not spending more time with his children when he died. But I'm sure he's having a jolly time with his sons in the flow of Rukh :)

nice to see a new magi imagines blog!!! what do you think would be the Kou bros' ideal fem!s/o??? Physical traits and personality??? what kind of relationship can you see each brother having (e.g. passionate, more romantic and sweet, or playful etc.)??? ty!
I LOVE REQUESTS LIKE THESE THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS IN!*Also, I would like to clarify this: This is my personal opinion on what these characters would prefer in a female s/o. This does not reflect my own opinions or preferences. I would like to point this out as well: I think that these characters for the most part -specifically Kouen- would find the physical aspect to be the first thing they notice and pay attention to. However, this does not mean that they would necessarily be closed to a relationship with someone who does not meet the traits listed below. Thank you!
Kouen Ren
Physical Traits/Characteristics
Long hair.
Clear, light colored eyes.
Well endowed figure, preferably hourglass in shape.
Good posture.
Creamy complexion.
Well-defined shoulders.
Tall, or at least slightly above-average.
Relatively large breasts.
Personality
A calm demeanor and peaceful air around them.
Even-headed, doesn’t let their emotions control them.
Righteous and truly believes in doing what is right.
Strong-willed and brave.
Accepting, quiet, observant, and proper.
Good at keeping secrets.
Nurturing & humble.
Perhaps a bit firey about things they’re passionate about.
Intelligent and decisive with a good mind for strategy.
Type of Relationship
It would be a very well-regarded relationship. Their relationship would be like a model for how relationships between Imperial Princes and their lovers should be. I think it would be very peaceful and full of quiet love. His ideal s/o wouldn’t be loud or public with their affections, but would still seek his attention and hold his hand when possible. It would be very romantic and out of the spotlight, with their affections for one another kept between the two.
Koumei Ren
Physical Traits/Characteristics
Short.
Hair length doesn’t necessarily matter, but he likes a good medium length that’s long enough to run his fingers through but it doesn’t get in the way.
Squishy thighs and stomach.
Round face.
Skin imperfections.
Kind eyes.
Full lips.
Medium to large breasts.
Personality
Quiet, soft.
Unobtrusive and with low-energy.
Respectful and well mannered.
He would like someone who is a bit sloppy with how clean they keep their room or work space.
A kind of housewife personality type.
Enjoys singing.
Loving and doesn’t need attention 24/7.
Type of Relationship
The relationship between Koumei and his ideal s/o would be slow. Koumei is not a very active person and would prefer someone who could keep a low profile and entertain themselves while he is busy doing work. Not many people would know of their relationship as Koumei isn’t very open in his affections and would dislike anyone seeing the kind and sweet and gentle and loving side his s/o shows him. It would be a more subdued romance and passion, with both parties knowing that even if they weren’t showing it, they both love each other very much.
Kouha Ren
Physical Traits/Characteristics
A toothy smile.
Bright eyes.
Messy hair.
Lanky in figure.
Agile and wiry.
Height doesn’t matter all that much, but he would find it to be a bonus if his s/o were shorter than him or his height.
Freckled skin.
Good fashion sense.
Small to average sized chest.
Personality
Witty, intelligent, street-smart.
Lighthearted and accepting of those different.
Gentle towards animals and children.
Unique and individual.
Definitely not someone who just sits by and does as they’re told.
Independent but willing to rely on him sometimes.
A good storyteller.
Competitive.
Type of Relationship
Their relationship would be very lighthearted and interesting to observe. There would be very few times where the two were silent in seriousness, as it would be mostly filled with laughter and smiles. Kouha would dislike someone who was always serious all the time and couldn’t take a joke. Everyone would know that the two were in a relationship, but they wouldn’t do anything overly affectionate in front of people; It would more be in the way they looked at each other.
