If you live in Korea you can see braille in your every day life. Korean government want to make the life of visually impaired people easier by introducing braille in the subways, street crossing, toilets, banks, elevators, stairs, doors and so on. They also have a sound system for announcing the stations in subways and busses and of course the doors have one as well. Also, crossings do announce when to cross and where not to. As well as streets and parts where you can walk, that present yellow dots on the ground. They serve as guidelines. I think we should learn and do more for each other and of course try to be better each day. The braille alphabet for the Korean language is known as Korean Braille. It has no visual similarities to other braille scripts that may be found worldwide. Instead, it distinguishes between initial consonants, vowels, and final consonants and follows the patterns observed in hangul. On November 3, the Ministry of Interior and Safety's National Archives of Korea announced that handwritten manuscripts for Hangeul Jeomja (Braille) and their associated documents had been restored in honor of National Braille Day (Nov. 4).

The heat didn't allow me enjoy this place as much as I wanted(I WORE A DRESS😅) but this was a loooonnnggg ride from Seoul and we were determined to make the most of it. Even though @go.reenee 언니 was exhausted (luckily Gangtae has a similar pose in the drama lol) The OK hospital from #itsokaynottobeokay drama is located in Goseong, Gangwon Province. Yup, the DMZ Goseong close to North Korea. Like most of the drama locations, this one is also a cafe. Secret Blue cafe. Honestly more than a cafe or hospital, it kind of resembles a school lol. With the declining population in Korea....possible. 😒😒😒 I dont know if its because of corona but honestly the cafe sucked. 🥺🥺 and yes I tagged you guys, how can a BAKERY cafe have only cupcakes at 1pm when you open at 11:30am ON A WEEKDAY!! Benefit of doubt maybe they thought people won't come on weekdays BUT its beside the beach and popular because of the drama that ended less than a month ago.....ok enough ranting. 😸😸😸 we didn't drive over 3 hours for the food anyway lol. As 70% of the show was shot here, we were here strictly for reminiscences. Endless pictures and videos taken, finally got my phone(another story lol) can't wait to start editing.

You may have already seen the red firefighter trucks in Korea, always rushing to a new emergency. Those are people who everyday save people's lives! The Fire Service in South Korea (or Korea Fire Service) is an organization to prevent danger, to protect the Republic of Korea people's lives and property, fire suppression and rescue, relief of emergency patients, prevention of disaster, disaster response, and providing recovery after a disaster occurs. They are composed of many branches and services, the most important ones are: - Central Fire Service - Korea Fire Service - National 119 Rescue Headquarters In 1950 the National Fire Department of the Security Bureau was established. The National Emergency Management Agency was established in 2004. In 2017, on the basis of the Central Fire Service, the National Fire Agency was established as the country's singular firefighting service. The firefighting organization of the Republic of Korea consists of the National Fire Agency under the Ministry of Interior and Security and the city or circuit firefighting headquarters. They also have a cute mascot and logo. The sparrow hawk symbolizes the National Fire Agency as it monitors its surroundings on alert, flying quickly to the scene to save life when an accident occurs, then flying up again with its wings spread wide. These mascots are collectively called Yeongungi—Yeongi is the female mascot, and Ungi is the male. Their names are easy to say and remember while creating a feeling of friendliness. Yeongungi, or “hero” in Korean, is responsible for safety and sacrifices if necessary for the people. On November 4th was the Braille Day! So let's raise some awareness! Do you know that Seoul Global Center has a special volunteering class where you can make “braille word cards for visually impaired children"? Before the class they will educate people to improve the awareness of disability and after you make together cute braille cards that can be used by visually impaired children! I participated in this class and I learned so much! I think is very important to raise awareness about visual impared people and help them as much as possible. Also, Korean Braille is the braille alphabet of the Korean language. It is not graphically-related to other braille scripts found around the world. Instead, it reflects the patterns found in hangul, and differentiates initial consonants, vowels, and final consonants. Which makes it totally unique. Did you ever participated in such activities?

Did you know that Europe has something called Schnitzel that is very similar with Donkas (돈까스) ? A schnitzel is a thin slice of meat. The meat is usually thinned by pounding with a meat tenderizer. Most commonly, the meats are breaded before frying. The breaded schnitzel is popular in many countries and is made using veal, pork, chicken, mutton, beef, or turkey.  Donkas has a pretty cool history. Technically, it is a Korean adaptation of a Japanese food called tonkatsu, while tonkatsu, in turn, is an adaptation of Austrian schnitzel.  So basically, they come from the same idea. Therefore when I arrived in Korea, this was one of my favorite dishes since it reminded me of my home country. Is a dish loved by all people foreigners, Koreans, young and old. Is easy to prepare even at home and is common in a lot of Korean restaurants. My advice try it at least once! Is delish! What I love about Korean culture? MAKGEOLI! In Korea, makgeolli is frequently unpasteurized, and the wine continues to mature in the bottle. Recently, various fruits like strawberries and bananas have been added to makgeolli to drink in new forms. The milky, off-white, and lightly sparkling rice wine has a slight viscosity. It tastes slightly sweet, tangy, bitter, and astringent.

This agricultural museum is run by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation to instill healthy eating habits in children and the general public and to highlight the worth and nutritional superiority of rice. A first-floor exhibition hall and a second-floor experience hall make up the Rice Museum. The growth process of rice, the effectiveness of rice as a means of propagation, and domestic rice brands are displayed in the exhibition hall. Additionally, it displays vintage farming equipment utilized by our ancestors as well as processed rice-based delicacies. Through a variety of exhibitions and educational events, the NH Rice Museum highlights the value and superiority of rice. It is worthwhile to explore, especially with the Agricultural Museum nearby. Open everyday besides Mondays and holidays. How many times did you have the occasion to wear a traditional Korean clothing? Hanbok's oldest graphic representations date to the Three Kingdoms of Korea era (57 BC to 668 AD). By funding fashion designers, the South Korean government has helped to revive interest in hanbok. Traditionally, the jeogori (top) and chima (skirt) make up a woman's hanbok. The combination is frequently referred to as "chima jeogori." Men's hanbok are made up of loose-fitting jeogori and baji (trousers). In addition to this outfit, there are other vests, jackets, and coats. Also the hanbok that I wearing is actually one that nurses wore during Joseon period. Thank you @ceraselat for sharing with me these amazing pictures from the collection of the designer Youngim Na. #MOFA #UnboxingKorea #KoreaAllimi #언박싱코리아 #대한민국알리미 #UniqueKorea #SpecialExperience #hanbok #hanbokcollection #nursehanbok #wearhanbok #hanbokdesign #한복 #한복스냅 #한복드레스 #한복스타그램 #한복사진 (at 신촌 Sinchon, Seoul, South Korea) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjpTCrrPf2M/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A museum and former prison in Seodaemun-gu, Seodaemun Prison History Hall was built at the start of 1907. Activists for Korean independence were held there during the time of Japanese colonialism. Additionally, there was a facility just for women and young girls. Kim Koo was detained in 1911 and also in 1919 Ryu Gwansun became a part of the prisoners as well. Following the March 1st Movement, the number of prisoners dramatically surged in 1919. More than 40,000 people were imprisoned here and over 400 died. The area became a part of Seodaemun Independence Park and was consecrated as the Seodaemun Prison History Hall in 1992. Seven of the original fifteen structures that make up the jail complex have been conserved as historical landmarks. The History Hall continues to serve as a memorial for all those held captive during the Japanese colonial era. The three days that make up the sixth and seventh lunar months, known as Sambok or 삼복, are thought to be the hottest days of the year. The three days—Chobok ~ 초복, or the first day, Jungbok ~ 중복, or the middle day, and Malbok ~ 말복, or the last day—occur at intervals of ten days and are also referred to as "The three dog days." People strive to eat more nutritious food during these days so they will have more energy to withstand the heat. Eating healthy food to maintain energy and combat the heat is one of the customs of Boknal. Koreans start eating Samgyetang, or ginseng chicken soup, on the first day of Boknal, Chobok day. Other foods to combat the heat during summer days in Korea, can be Naegmyeon ~ 냉면 or the iced noodles and of course the delicious dessert called Bingsu ~ 빙수. If you ever come to Korea during summer time, don't forget to try one of these three foods! #MOFA #UnboxingKorea #KoreaAllimi #언박싱코리아 #대한민국알리미 #UniqueKorea #SpecialExperience #복날 #삼복 #말복 #초복 #중복 #복날음식 #boknal #malbok #맛집 #koreandish #koreanfood #ginsengchickensoup #naengmyeong #bingsu #냉면 #빙수 #삼계탕 (at Seoul, Korea) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTTCrovY1_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Asan Oeam Folk Village was our second stop for the Unboxing Korea Cheonan trip. Asan Oeam Folk Village or 외암민속마을 was designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Asset No. 236, Oeam Folk Village has formed over 500 years ago, and is located on the southeast slopes of Seolhwasan, some 8 kilometers south of the rural city of Asan in South Chungcheong Province. Currently, there are some 50 households living there. The village was created when the Yean Yi clan settled down during the reign of King Seonjo (1567-1608) of the Joseon era. There were many talented descendants of the clan and among them was Yi Gan, a great Confucianism scholar whose pen name was Oeam, the origin of the village’s name. The entrance fee is 2,000 KRW. A totally recommended place to visit.
