heyy anon thank you for the ask! this is a really good question!!

let’s start with Ron:

james would love him so much!! he would be his number one fan. this twelve year old boy who snuck out a flying car to rescue his son? respect and love and nothing else. i also like to think that ron and james have some overlaps in their personalities (and harry noted this too) so james would probably understand him when others might not.

honestly same sentiment as with james because how could lily not love ron? i think if they ever met, they would have the sweetest, most wholesome bond ever. lily would spoil him (like molly did with harry). also i know people might characterize lily as strict about the rules and all but not me. my lily evans is insane and a freak. she would be impressed. she will ask ron how he did it and bribe him with ice cream to keep him quiet about it.

as for sirius, i don’t think him and ron had a bond or whatever in the books but this one POA scene is very special to me. he Sees how loyal ron is to harry and he sees it as him with james. i cry about it.

“If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too!” he said fiercely, though the effort of standing upright was draining him of still more color, and he swayed slightly as he spoke.

Something flickered in Black’s shadowed eyes.

“Lie down,” he said quietly to Ron. “You will damage that leg even more.”

now Hermione:

i don’t think hermione and lily are the same person but there are definitely some similarities and lily would be very happy that harry has a friend like her. more so that hermione has good friends, too, you know? she might feel very protective of her. now if these two ever met, trust that they would confuse everyone with all the lastest muggle tech that the purebloods just don’t understand. they are both insane freaks and i love them for it.

for some reason, i get the vibe that sirius would not get along with hermione. i don’t remember much of their interactions from the books but idk, not like he would hate her or anything but they wouldn’t be besties. i kind of remember hermione maybe being critical of him but im not sure. remus, on the other hand, i think would like hermione very much (and i think he did in the books too). they seem like the type to get along.

regulus would love the S.P.E.W. initiative if nothing else. blood status aside i think he would like her (also it is implied in the books that regulus did change his beliefs and that quote is by hermione! fun stuff).

Ginny:

professional quidditch player, and a chaser at that? enough said james potter was Cheering on his daughter in law from heaven. he would die for her. she would become his number one favorite kid and harry would be second. okay but fr even without that i think james would be a ginny weasley fan.

lily and ginny would be BESTIES. they would have special days out just for the two of them i think they match each other’s vibes. they were the IT girls of their times.

i think dorcas and marlene would love ginny as well. i don’t have much explanation for it but dorlene would adopt ginny if they could.

Luna:

luna my favoritest girl everrrr. she would be loved by every single one of them actually. it is impossible not to love her. she is pandora’s daughter. she will be the most loved. dorcas would be the cool aunt, barty and evan would be the crazy uncles, and regulus !! reg is her godfather i do not care for canon or whatever.

lily would Adore luna as well (i also think it’s so cute that there’s a person out there called Lily Luna?? <33).

i do see regulus and pandora as harry and luna variants but i also kinda see it as james and pandora?? like their friendship is my personal rare platonic pairing, so i feel like james would love luna too.

Neville:

personally i think james would love neville the most out of the marauders. my reasoning for this is that in early years at least neville and peter were kind of similar. peter would hate him because he reminds him of himself but honestly my take on the marauders is that everyone was closest to james. he was all of their best friends. it’s a common hc that remus introduced peter to the group but i feeel like it was james who took him under his wing. in conclusion james would have a soft spot for neville. prongstail friendship breaks my heart especially because i think they were very close </3

remus!! remus loves neville. this is canon.

lily would be very affectionate towards him. i also hc that alice was lily’s friend and someone she looked up to so it’s bittersweet because he’s alice’s son.

i honestly can’t tell with sirius? i mean there’s no reason for him to hate neville. i honestly think he’s one of those characters no one actually hates? like neville’s arc and his entire character is Top Tier. sirius would definitely admire the bravery!!

i love barty but he is Not allowed anywhere near neville. the crucio in front of him was cruel… he knew what he doing. so yes!! keep barty the fuck away from my boy neville.

I have complicated S3 thoughts.

But this episode, I remember watching, seeing the recap and going FINALLY. They need to bring back their moment and their relationship.

How have they never talked about Chris being supportive of their relationship? "Making amends?" Oh, it is so much more than that.

"...and a bad idea." I feel like that is some acknowledgment. It was a mutual moment, but yeah, teammates, she was in a relationship, it was/is complicated. But still....

"And you don't talk enough...perfect fit." Ugh, in every way. The way he always can get her to talk. How she asks but clearly it hurts.

"I miss you." Such a layered moment. I kept waiting for them to get closer this season, even with what she said in Good Cop, after Nate died I thought she'd show up more, but I feel like once she saw Molly show up at HQ she stayed back. I like that he finally tried to bridge the gap between them and show her he cared. But she can't let him back in fully and I feel it's because of Molly. That look she gives him as he walks out of the armory. Lina does excellent work there. It's so layered and you can feel Chris' emotions, even if she doesn't want them to be there. The longing, hurt, sadness.

Still, this is one of my favorite S3 episodes. Once they start establishing their friendship more as the season goes on and early S4, the lines blur and they can't deny the inevitable.

Closed starter: Wedding

It had been known for a pretty long time that Molly and Almyra were getting married. The gods knew they deserved it after all this. Almyra's health had been on the decline, but she was well enough for a ceremony like this. They'd been making offerings to whoever may listen. Hera, Tyche, Aphrodite, Apollo, Asclepius, whoever may be able to offer even a small blessing to ensure things go fine.

It was a struggle trying to save enough money, but they finally did it. The ghosts (Katherine and Jolene) were busy rounding up anyone who had gotten the invitation and leading them to the venue. Currently, Kathy was trying to drag you over there, but she couldn't really grab at things anymore, being dead and all. She was wearing a pretty nice outfit, all things considered. She looked slightly more tangible today than usual.

"Come onnnnn hurry up! This is gonna be so much fun!"

Kira has a nightmare, one night when she's staying at the O'Brien's. Miles and Keiko, sleeping in the other room, don't hear her get up - but Molly does.

And Molly, being clever and kind, knows exactly what to do when someone has a nightmare. (Or, at least, she knows what her parents always do for her.) So she sits Kira down and brings her a glass of warm milk, and sits by her side as she drinks it.

Then, she takes Kira by the hand and leads her - to her parents bedroom. "I always sleep with mommy and daddy after a nightmare," she explains, when Kira stops outside the door. "It helps! Mommy chases the scary things away. And Daddy is warm."

"Molly," Kira says quietly, a little embarrassed, "I don't think your parents want me in their bed. Even if I did have a nightmare."

"No, they won't mind!" Molly assures.

Then, of course, Miles wakes up.

"Molly?" he asks, voice rough with sleep. "Did you have a nightmare?"

"No, but Miss Kira did!"

And now Keiko's awake, too, sitting up and saying, "Nerys? Are you alright?"

Mortified, Kira says, "Yes, I'm fine, I was just - on my way back to bed. Molly brought me here. I'm - sorry for waking you. I'll just be-"

"You can stay, if you want," Miles offers.

Kira doesn't quite think she heard him right. "What?"

"You can sleep here, if you think it might help," Keiko says.

"Or even if you don't!" Miles adds.

Kira opens her mouth, then closes it again. "I, uh-"

Keiko gets up, and takes Kira, gently, by the hand. Her palm is soft, Kira can't help but notice.

"Brr, it's freezing out here!" Keiko says, tugging Kira along. "You'd better get in before you catch your death of cold. Miles is practically a furnace, so you'll be nice and warm with us."

"And, Molly, you'd best go back to bed, too. You've got school in the morning," Miles says, as Keiko bundles Kira into the bed between them.

As Molly makes her way out, Keiko swings a lazy arm over Kira's back. "Sleep," she hums. "We'll be here in the morning."

Kira, feeling warm and cared for and more than a little overwhelmed, does.

Sometimes, I'll be doing a mission with Dutch and everything is fine.

Other times, the light will catch his face in a way that makes me seethe.

I get reminded that Dutch got to age, he got to grow grey.

Did Arthur get that chance? Jenny, Mac, Davey, Sean, Kieran, Lenny, Molly? Did any of them get to grow old together?

Why didn't they, Dutch? Why didn't the gang survive? Why didn't they get the promised virgin lands in the west? Why did you outlive them?

I wanted to talk about Toothless and how his design and personality changed for the worst throughout the 3 animated movies (I won't be tackling any of the shows because I haven't watched them)

In the first movie he's at his best. His design is actually amazing, from the overall model structure to the patterns on his skin (which are visible in every shot, especially the ones taking place during the day, without ruining the 'illusion' of his black skin. It actually feels like it's resembling a panther aka black leopard in which the fur patterns are still visible). His face has a more aerodynamic shape, more sharp, a big curve.

His snarky but intelligent personality was really fitting for him. And we got to see more of it as the movie was progressing and he was getting more comfortable with humans.

In the second movie the patterns on his skin are still mostly there, way less prominent but still visible. His face got squashed down (a problem which only because stronger in the 3rd movie) but as a whole he still looks presentable, kinda. His posture changed too (but I'm too lazy to find evidence, you'll have to take my word for it).

I remember not having a problem with his personality in the second movie which is why I was surprised to see that this was only half true. He acts more domesticated, that's to be expected, but only around humans? When he interacts with other dragons it's like he's a completely different character, closer to what he became in httyd 3 than 1. He's still quite intelligent and more used to human equipment and people in general. In the first part of the film (especially this scene with Hiccup) he acts like how I'd imagine he should be in the 3rd movie, here it should have been a 'middle' ground, not 100% domesticated but not movie 1 feral either.

In the third movie he suffered the worst. Gone are the patterns on his skin, he's solid black now. His face got weirder too.

His personality got reduced to this stupid, slobbering 'dog'. His pupils are always dilated and his tongue almost constantly out. He acts unintelligent and he doesn't have that snarky personality he had in the first and even the second movie. He's basically a different character altogether. (That scene where he tries to 'woo' the light fury is embarrassing at best and shows exactly what's wrong with his character now).

They did it to make him more 'likable' to younger audiences + to make a good visual contrast to the light fury (who has an undercooked personality AND awful design as well), which is weird because they gave the light fury patterns on her wings?

The light fury looks like a beluga whale in the worst way possible. She has almost nothing going on visually to the point it doesn't even make sense. Her skin looks fragile, she's so weirdly smooth for no reason. It would legit be better if they took a night fury model and painted it white.

They gave her a 'cat' personality and took it away from Toothless (why couldn't both be 'cats'?). Also she's the 'girl' character, her only purpose is to be the romantic interest. She adds nothing to the film.

No comment in the live action design. Just ugly. Atrocious even.

Also something else that's been bothering me from the live action remake is this scene.

They've basically recreated every scene exactly as it was in the original so far (which is a bad thing) but the slight hesitation Toothless showed before touching Hiccups hand was the one thing they chose not to include? (I know the scene wasn't meant to have that in the beginning and it was an error in animation which they decided to keep because it gave the scene more personality so, why not include it in the live action?)
