Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part III: Rebellion:

Extremely strong plot, characterization, and animation (the latter notably improved compared to the original series). I've got so many scenes I love but if you're counting by which scene I've researched most, Homura and Sayaka's confrontation in the labyrinth.

The Secret of Kells:

It has a beautiful art style that looks unlike pretty much any other movies, except others from the same studio.

This is such an underrated masterpiece. Its animation is flawless, it's devastating but so hopeful at the end.

Everything I’ve seen by Cartoon Saloon is visually breathtaking with distinctive backgrounds and characters, both visually and with how they interact. As one of their earliest films, Kells is FAR from an exception. It’s complicated, it’s messy, it has a lot off deep moments and plenty of light ones. Aisling’s song where she temporarily turns pangur into a spirit is gorgeous. It’s an amazing story that’s really deeply impacted me and my outlook on life. Not to mention every frame is absolutely breathtaking. It’s a story about friendship and loss and a billion other little things, and it’s absolutely amazing.

Madoka Magica Writer Gen Urobuchi Says He Finished Writing Sequel Anime Film 5 Years Ago

  With the surprise announcement of Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgis no Kaiten last night, a follow-up to the 2013 anime film Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion-, fans all around the world are over the grief of not knowing if the series would be concluded properly. But no one was as excited as Madoka Magica writer and destroyer of dreams Gen Urobuchi, who went to Twitter to exclaim that he’s “glad (the film) is finally seeing the light of day!”

  The reason Urobuchi is excited? Because he’s been holding on to the script for over five years! He mentions in the Tweet that he finished writing the new Madoka Magica film between working on Kamen Rider Gaim in 2014 and Thunderbolt Fantasy in 2016. No wonder he’s happy to not have to hold it anymore.

  Though, for the sake of the fans, Urobuchi has to hold his tongue a little bit longer as Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie: Walpurgis no Kaiten doesn’t have a release date as of yet, but fans will be happy to know that the cast and staff from Rebellion are back to give us a fun time once again.

The art style is interesting and creative, the story is very nice, mixing history with fairytales, it's bilingual (at least it is in the french version that i watched: mixing french and arabic at all times). It's about family, stereotypes, racism. It's frankly gorgeous. These brothers mean the world to me.

　『輪るピングドラム』全話を完走した。『魔法少女まどか☆マギカ[新編]叛逆の物語』を観たときに次ぐ衝撃でこの作品に並ぶオールタイムベストアニメ作品となった。同じ場所には『少女☆歌劇レヴュースタァライト』が立っている。七話まで観終わったエッセイの平和な書きっぷりに、先日の自分が羨ましいと思ったくらいだ。そのくらいこのアニメの牙の剝き方は恐ろしかった。恐ろしくて、だからこそ向き合わなければならなかった。

　一話からすこし不穏な話題はありつつも『さらざんまい』の最初に近い変身バンクや決め台詞、ミュージカルのような要素まで詰まったギャグアニメだなと思っていた。それが九話の演出といいメタファーといいで「流れ変わったな」と気が付き、第十二話で物語は牙を見せ、第十三話でこれまでの十二話を裏返してしまった。見える景色は、発せられる同じ言葉の意味は裏返しになってしまった。辛いけれどオタクなのでそういうのは好きだ。

　第十四話、第十五話と衝撃が重ねられ、休む間もなく第二十四話へとたどり着く。『輪るピングドラム』にはいくつか村上春樹作品を感じさせる要素があり、村上春樹作品について思い出していた。春樹の作品はいつも一読目で気がつく主旋律の下に二読以上しないと気が付けない通奏低音や装飾音が施されていて、それがとても好きだ。『輪るピングドラム』にも主旋律には拾われなかったように見える部分がいくつかある。例えばペンギン。

　明示しない、それでいて分かる人には分かるメッセージを傷跡のように残していく。それを読者あるいは鑑賞者は誤解するかもしれなくとも、主旋律で全ての音を奏でてしまうのは美しくないから。こういう物語作りがしたいと嚙み締める数日間だった。春樹を読んでいるときの幸福感。図らずも現実と軌を一にするような物語の展開になってしまう部分もあったけれど、だからこそ読み聴き見て学び、書くことをやめないでいたいとも思った。

2021/12/05　「叛逆」という名の愛の賛歌－－魔法少女まどか☆マギカ[新編]叛逆の物語

例えば、ある映画を観て「この作品はこういう作品である」と理解したとする。しかしその後その作品を再び観直した時、まったく逆の印象を持つことだってある。

「魔法少女まどか☆マギカ叛逆の物語」もそういった作品のひとつだ。大きな社会的反響を呼んだTV版の続編となる本作はその期待に違わず、日本アニメーション史に残る絢爛豪華な映像とサービス精神に満ちたシナリオで観客を歓待した。しかしその一方で本作の結末は当時、多くの観客に驚愕と困惑をもたらした。

けれどもいまとなれば、TV版が「つながり」という名のコミュニタリアニズムを称揚したゼロ年代的想像力の到達点に位置する物語であったのに対して、本作は「つながり」の限界性を告発する2010年代的想像力をいち早く先鋭的に捉えた物語であったように思える。

そして本作と同様の構図を持つ「天気の子」を経由したいま、本作が内在する複雑なポリフォニーの響きは当時よりもかなり明瞭に聴こえてくるのではないだろうか。

この度、まどか叛逆のリバイバル上映を観てきた。またこの作品を再び劇場で観れるとは感無量としか言いようがない。本作はTV 版が提示する希望と絶望の形而上学を「愛」という概念で脱構築する。言うなれば本作は「叛逆」という名の愛の賛歌である。
