Q: How do you view 'yuan' (缘, often translated as 'conditions' or 'karma' & 'fate')? Can 'yuan' be perceived?

A: What we call 'yuan' is simply the texture of experience (in English: experiential patterns or textures). To savor experience is to savor the texture of experience. Don’t use the word 'yuan,' as it complicates something simple and adds a sense of cause-and-effect to it, which only satisfies intellectual thinking. Just savor it — the seemingly dull and ordinary textures of experience are 'yuan,' but don’t conceptualize it as 'yuan.'

Alternatively, 'yuan' can just mean the storyline. And of course, the storyline is merely the empty texture of experience. Don’t overanalyze the word 'yuan.' The ancients had linguistic limitations — they wouldn’t have used a phrase like 'texture of experience.' Today, 'yuan' seems to carry a mysterious tone, but it simply refers to the basic texture of experience, what we would call 'experiential texture or pattern' in English. 'Letting things happen' is about being indifferent to how the texture of experience unfolds; let it be, because it's ultimately all empty anyway.

You’ve already effortlessly noticed the texture of experience; you’ve long been aware of 'yuan.' But the mind tends to conceptualize and mystify the texture of experience as some kind of logical, romantic storyline and labels it 'yuan,' analyzing and assigning meaning to it. In doing so, it falls into a mental fantasy."

MLCB Concert: XSY's Farewell

Here, he still has a black tie Over His Bare Skin to cover the deep V-neck to preserve his modesty. This is OK. (This was his outfit for 《颠倒之间》.)

And then they put him in a black tank top overlayed with a silky wine-red blouse that Does Not Fully Cover his arms and shoulders...

This shouldn't be such a big deal, but paired with all the buckles and the long red ribbon tied around his forearm, I feel a little bit scandalized. In a good way. (This was his outfit for 《MINE》.)
