『夏目漱石のこころ』

料理中に待ち時間がだいたい発生するので

最近本を読んでる

10代そこそこでのめり込み何度も何度も読んだ本

やっとまた読むことができてる

あらすじをざっくりとは覚えていたけど

心の描写とか…登場人物やりとりに漂う繊細な空気

そういう細かな描写はほとんど覚えていなかった

「先生」を深く知れば知るほど胸がしめつけられる

わたしが本の中の主人公の「私」となりもっと先生の事を知りたくなる

読み進めていくうちに驚いたのは、この本の中に漂うなにかを私は今も内包している

そういうものに惹かれてしまう

読んでた思春期のころからも30年近くたってるのに…

正直驚いた

(思春期の頃に読んだからそれに影響を受けた結果なのか…そもそもの私の性質がそういうものだから本に惹かれてしまっていたのか？)

今の私にはどう作用するんだろう

拙勉強メモ

野口良平『幕末的思考』第３部 第2章－3に著者様からお返事頂いてしまいました！

日本じゅうがひとり歩きした天皇制にからめとられ、「優勝劣敗」なんてことを大真面目に言い出し、青年たちも成功ドリームに我を忘れてゆく明治20年代。

そんな中で、理想を語り合う仲間も見失った透谷は、一人で考え苦しみ、死んでしまいます。

本当の自由とは、あるべき社会とは……。 弱くて強くてでもやっぱり弱い人間の心こそ、基本では……？

透谷は本当にひとりぼっちだったのか。

彼と課題を共有し継承した人はいなかったのか？ 著者は、夏目漱石『こころ』を取りあげます。

その探求の背景や思いなどをお便り頂きました。 一人で読んではあまりにもったいないので、ご許可を頂き、個々に共有いたします！

言ってみたかったことは、漱石の『こころ』は、透谷の苦闘に一矢報いているところのある作品として読めるのではないか、ということです。

透谷の敵はバケモノだった。 しかし、そのバケモノの生命は、やはり有限である。 漱石はそのバケモノの像を、自らの生命の限界を自覚した存在として造型しようとした。 そのことを通して、透谷の戦いが妄想や幻覚として片づけられてよいものではなく、生きた人間の、血の通った戦いだったことを、いわば｢証明｣しようとしたのではないか、と。

これは、もちろん私の読み方でしかありません。 それに、こんなふうに『こころ』を、また漱石を読もうとしている読み手は、そんなにはいないのではないかと思います。

それでも、『こころ』には、また漱石には、そういう読解に開かれた何かがあることも、また確からしく思われるのです。

私にとって励ましになったのは、松元寛、森谷篁一郎、の二人の著作でした。（どちらも漱石の専門家ではありません。）

松元さんは、シェークスピアの研究者ですが、広島での被爆体験をもち、高校生向けの案内書を、岩波ジュニア新書（『新版 広島長崎修学旅行案内―原爆の跡をたずねる』）から出しています。『小説家��岡昇平』という好著（と思います）もあります。

森谷さんは、鳥取で高校の国語の先生を長く勤めた方ですが、高校で『こころ』の授業をしながら、この作品を高校生と読むことの意味がわからなくなり、苦しんだのだそうです。

それで、定年退職した後に、自分への宿題への答えを探ろうと、『こころ』論（『漱石『こゝろ』その仕掛けを読む』）を自費出版します。それを私は何かの記事で知り、直接版元に注文して読んだところ、とても面白いものでした。

日清戦争は、大きく日本を変えていくきっかけになった出来事で、これとともに日本の教育制度が、あるいは知識人の養成過程そのものが様変わりしていきます。

日清戦争の直前になくなった透谷も、その前後に松山中学の先生だった漱石も、日本の性急な近代化と、教育制度の変化に適応できなかったという共通点を持っていますね。

留学先では文部省に求められていない問題を自分で作って苦しみ、無鉄砲にも学校を飛び出す主人公を描き、博士号はいらないと文部省にたたき返す。そんな漱石に、透谷の面影を垣間見ることは不可能なのだろうか？そんなふうに、ここでは私は考えてみたのです。

ここで、幕末と明治のスキマに生きながら、近代化に適応できなかった人として、もうひとり、樋口一葉のことが書ければよかったというのが、今考えるところですね。

一葉の小説には、その後の日本文学史が取り落としていったさまざまな可能性が、ぎゅっと凝縮されている感じがしています。

風が強くて、庭の葉っぱがだいぶ落ちました。 色づいた葉が庭一面に散らばってきれいです。 お店の前のコンクリート道路は掃き掃除しますが、庭の中はそのまんま。 本当はどこもかしこもそのまんまだといいのになぁ。

著者は、北村透谷という人を 《「内部生命」を掲げつつ市民宗教への抵抗に殉じるに至った》（ｐ247）人だとしています。 「"個人の心（内部生命）が基本だ！"という考えをもって、天皇制という市民宗教（集会、布教の自由を許さない）への疑問を突きつけ、力尽きて死んでしまった」人、 という感じでしょうか

透谷の命がけの問いを受け継いだ仕事として、夏目漱石の「こころ」を、著者は読み解いてゆきます。

「こころ」のストーリーは、

過去に、利己心から「Ｋ」を裏切ってしまった「先生」は、自死をとげる。

というもの。

なのですが、そんな「先生」は遺書に、自殺の理由として「明治の精神への殉死」をあげている。 （乃木希典の明治天皇への「殉死」がすぐに連想されます）

これはなぜなのか。

「こころ」の先行研究（森谷篁一郎、松元寛）を紹介しつつ読み解きます。

① 先生は己の「倫理意識」と「利己心」のせめぎ合いの内に死を選んだ。

これを著者は、 先生の自殺が 「市民宗教（天皇バンザイ）への帰依」と 「市民宗教からの自由」の 「意識相克」を照らし出す仕掛けとうけとることもできる、という。

乃木大将のモノマネをする、ということが、 「殉死に倣う」と言うことであると同時に、 「異化」の目線を醸し出す。（まねすることの戯画化、ということは透谷が論考の中で言い残している）。 つまり、天皇バンザイという考えから体を離した所に身を置いている姿勢をも描いている。

② 先生の遺書を年下世代の「私」が受けとる

＝利己心も含めた私情（先生が「K」を裏切ったこと、それを苦しんだこと）を否定しない契約社会のあり方を提示しているのかも。 山路愛山の言うように「健康で正直で優秀な人しか生きていけない社会」でなくて！

透谷の死も、そのことを次の世代に引き継いでいた、ともいえるかも。

③ 漱石の「こころ」は、透谷が挑んで玉砕した相手が何だったのか、という問いに、同じように直面している。

先生が殉じた「明治の精神」とは、 “健康で堅実で清くそれでいて無慈悲に「弱肉強食」” というバケモノなものだったけど、

「明治の精神」に対抗すべき「人の心」「内部生命」は、その力にあまりにも限界があった。そのことを「先生」や「Ｋ」、透谷は知ってしまっていた（自殺してしまった）。 じゃあわたしらはどうすりゃいいの？？（答えはないと漱石は言ってる。答えはないけど幕末の志士のように斬るか斬られるかの覚悟で文学をやりたいと）という困ったバケモノ。

④ 「先生」の造形＝北村透谷という“もう一人の「Ｋ」”の「なぞり」のようにも見える

（「先生」の自殺が「Ｋ」の自殺のなぞり。ふーん。なんかパズルみたいになってきたぞ）

理解し得た、とは言えない第3部第2章－3ですが、 著者が、透谷が悶絶して一人で死んで、歴史空間に宙ぶらりん、にしてはあまりに惨い、そうではなかった、誰か辿った人があるはずだと、心を込めて細道を探査しているように思えました。

いやー

ほんとうに透谷、もう少し生きてくれなかったでしょうか。 せめて日本語が言文一致の書き言葉を獲得してくれるまで。 そうしたら新しい書き言葉でたくさん書き残してくれたし、 なにより、だましだまし元気で生きてほしかった。

平塚らいてうみたいに、両親が娘のどんなバッシングにも負けず、文句は言わずにお金だけだして支えてくれてたら。

平塚らいてうみたいに、座禅を組んだりして肝っ玉を太くする習慣があったら。

あまりに今月の〆切がヤバすぎてやっと個展で頂いた全てのお手紙と、会場の感想ノートを全て読み切りました　(差し入れはずっとモリモリ食ってます)

本当にありがとうございました　全部涙出るほど嬉しかったです。

あんなに発表するのを恐ろしがっていた3年前、3年後、こんなに愛して貰える作品になるなんて思ってなかった蛍火

この漫画を���いて良かったしこの個展も開いて良かったと心から思ってます。

そういえば個展の感想ノート見ていたら、蛍火の英語版がネットで販売されているのだけどそれの翻訳してくれた方が北米から来てくれてたらしくてぶったまげた　流石に挨拶したかったありがとうございました…！

沖縄から北海道まで本当に津々浦々から来て貰えてたのが分かって嬉しかったなあ

そして複製原画の二次販売を利用して下さった方、河原版の予約してくれた方もありがとね　

河原版に関しては想定以上の予約数で本のハコ作ってくれる業者さんがギョエー〆切ヤバい！て慌てふためいてるくらいの数になってるとのこと

嬉しい悲鳴をあげてるようだ　ありがてー！

デザインも凄くカッコよくてどっからどう見てもインテリ本のハコなので早くお届けしたい　こんなカッコいいエロ本あっていいの？

ハコ作ってくれる職人さんもかなり少なくなってる中でここまでやって貰えるなんて感謝だ…
